Sure, it’s a little macabre, but the history and uniqueness is worth the trip. The story about why the bones were used, the poem within, and the inscription above the door are beautiful. It’s a fairly small room, especially considering it’s supposedly made up of 5,000 corpses, and most people were in-and-out in less than 5 minutes. The entrance fee is €5, cash or card, and includes some other artifacts, a nativity museum upstairs, and a nice view of the town from the balcony.

From other reviews we were expecting these Roman Baths to be difficult to find but once you have identified the building - the town hall - the receptionist pointed us in the direction of the baths and gave us an explanatory leaflet that was in English as well as Portuguese. The baths are interesting as much for their situation in the middle of the building, you can see offices through windows around them, as for the construction of the baths. The bath is a 9 m circular bath with steps like a jacuzzi and there are some remains from the furnace too. It isn't worth going out of your way for but if you are passing Monday to Friday in office hours then pop in and see.

The price is 3.50euro for the tower and the cathedral (there’s no student ticket and only cash). The view is really nice on the roof but you need to climb some very steep stairs. I will recommend to visit this place and enjoy the view. Also inside the cathedral is also beautiful.

One of the most outstanding super ancient sites in Europe if not the world. The stones pre-date Stonehenge, and represent an advanced culture 7000 years ago. The tribe arranged the stones in a circular way down a small slope. Theories about the individual oblong stones and their arrangement include a phalanx of phalli, commonly worshipped in ancient cultures, Or More generally representing individuals /spirits, or perhaps representing a meeting place or convocation of the several individual neighboring tribes, each monument representing one tribe, forming a Congress or Convocation. You take a thrilling dirt road drive through pristine, stunning Alentajo countryside, to a place where there is no Wi-Fi or noise except that of nature and your fellow visitors. It’s extremely peaceful and profound and a sensory delight. Spend time in all but also in reflection taking it in and what it means for us. The site wasn’t “discovered“ by academics until the 1960s; one can see why because it is so removed from modern society. However, the Local ranchers and farmers Have long known about these and many other archaeological sites all in the same area of Alentajo, covering a span of at least 7000 years from the birth is farming settlements to the relatively “modern” ruins of the the Roman empire. This is a “must see” destination if you’re going to Evora. This region of Portugal is an archeological miner’s field of gold, rich in the rough diamonds of archaeological treasures, most barely excavated. Dig in and discover!

If it were just another palace or convent I would rate it a 4 star but being an university it's a 5 star in tradition, atmosphere and magnificent panels of storied tiles, as they are called (depicting scenes of common or historical events). The main yard is outstanding.

There are more like this one alone Portugal, but the peculiarity of this one maybe is the perfect coupling of the little white and yellow houses throughout it's archs. Nice scenes for some pics here

It is a beautiful place to visit. The wine shop was first class and the staff was very helpful. Only 2 miles from Evora, you can walk there.

This is a beautiful church, with lots to see. Perhaps most well known is the Chapel of Bones, but ironically, it was the place where my family and I spent the least amount of time. It's fascinating, but only a single room. So in some ways, it was a bit disappointing. However, upstairs there is a huge collection of nativity scenes from all around the world. There are hundreds of them, and it was absolutely amazing to see the different styles and interpretations of nativity scenes from different cultures. I eventually got tired, but my daughter would have easily spent hours looking at them all. I had to shuffle her along. There is also a very small museum with paintings and other artifacts to view. This is a great place to spend an afternoon. I came wanting to see the Chapel of Bones, not knowing any of the other things that were here, but I enjoyed everything else immensely. The church itself is free to visit, while entering the Chapel of Bones requires the purchase of a ticket, which also includes seeing the nativity scenes and the museum. It's very reasonably priced and well worth it.

This museus has a very peculiar collection of 2k years old roman marvel figures and grave decoration which are simple astonishing to watch. It's not so big so the exposition is very consiced and enjoyable. Available for free on Sundays.

It is free! Before you go up the sandy road with many potholes. (Most cars can make it slowly). Please visit the information centre on right at the last bit of tarmac. João is a very helpful and informative guy who can give you all sorts of background info on the monuments and hot tips about Evora itself. Route ok on ebike for average bikers. The path to the menir is short but rutted. It's beautiful. See if you can feel it's warmth. For those sensitives that can feel energies from the Earth linger a while to enjoy. If not sure, try it out. There is much magic in these places that is why our ancestors chose them.
