Mid December, advent is in full swing, the town is buzzing with people, it's decorated and lit up so tastefully. Every opening between buildings is a home to a Christmas market. Unlike many places I've seen around Europe everyone is happy, there is a really nice vibe to this place. It's very clean, haven't seen a single homeless person, nothing dodgy or suspicious. It's a very very nice place and well worth a visit

There are no big distances between sights, it's easy to access everything on foot. My favourite place in the city - nice climb up and beautiful panorama around the Graz and further. There’re places to sit and chill, also cafe and Summer stage. Nice spot to visit and take a nice pictures! Must see when in Graz.

There are some ruins and some additional cafes and other entertainment here but the most amazing thing are the views. Definitely recommend if the weather is good, can be visited by foot/elevator/cable car without additional entrance fee.

Beautiful castle hill, located right in the middle of old town. I got to witness beautiful spring colors on my way up. The view of the city from the hill is marvellous. I took an amazing underground slide on my way back. It’s the largest underground slide in the world. Lasts for about 40 seconds. Ticket is just 6 euro.

Very nice place for an afternoon walk. The view on the city is beautiful and there are a few different options when it comes to food and drinks. If you don't want to walk up, there is also an elevator and a cable car.

A really magnificent and picturesque place. We opted for walking up the stairs (alternatives being the delivery service or the cable lift). The cold wind didn't help our cause! The stairs felt almost infinite and quite steep. And then we arrived at the top! What an amazingly enchanting place with a unique and interesting history. And the hill itself doesn't only hold the Schloss and the clock tower but a beautiful plateau, lush gardens, a restaurant and the most amazing view of Graz.

It was the end of October, but a sunny warm day, lots of people visiting the castle. Getting into the garden took a few minutes, but we only got ticket for the 2pm guided tour. The park is splendid, kids played in the playground in the corner and we took the 50 minute tour of the castle. I say it was worth it, the guide was really good, and it did not felt a long tour. Lot we learned about the castle and the history for the family. I can only recommend.

I loved everything about this castle!! The staff is nice, the gardens and everything. I was there in March when the garden was not blooming so I would recommend to go in May, but it was also nice. The castle is not open for visita during a winter. You can’t visit the rooms without a guided tour, but it was really cool, the tour guide was great and explained everything really well and was really interesting! Also, you can’t take pictured inside the castle. Once you buy a 24 hour ticket it is also working for other museums in town. You can see that they really care about the castle and it’s history which ja really nice :) This is a must see when you come to Graz! 😁😁

Nice castle and garden but nothing special so the price to get in is right. Interiors on the 3rd floor are available at an additional cost, but it's really worth seeing. There is a cafe in the park and you can admire the peacocks.

Take the guided tour of the state rooms as the stories and paintings are MIND BLOWING. The gardens are incredible. PLUS there are many things clustered here including a wonderful and eaay to navigate archeological museum.

Do not only visiti the park. You should go for the tour with the guide, the inside of the castle is magnificent and they talk about the history of the castle for one hour, because the castle is so big and you walk through a lot of rooms which are original and really beautiful. You can not take pictures in the closed rooms which are protected by UNESCO.

Love this palace! Great tour and gardens! Come a little early to make sure you get tickets for the tour. Most hours in English or German. Have a coffee and cake at the small gazebo cafe in the gardens. In the spring, the peacocks will show off their plumage.

We happened to arrive about 5 minutes before they were running a tour in English which we bought tickets for. You have to pay €2 to view the grounds but this is taken off the price of the tour if you choose to do it (which I would recommend). Our tour guide was informative and personable, and the rooms were well maintained - the planetary room alone is worth the price of the ticket. We were informed by our guide that they're doing quite a bit of restoration work in preparation for the 400th anniversary next year.

The main square in Graz (Hauptlatz) is a lovely place to visit. If you want traditional Austrian Fayre or food there are plenty of street vendors. Shopping is great too with major retailers plus local Austrian goods. No cars but plenty of trams to hop on and off, oh and if you like to have a meal in a restaurant, there's plenty. A little walk from the main square and you're at the river side (Mur).

Easily accessible, wonderful architecture, during the day square is filled with different street food bars. It has two different faces - one at night and the other during the day and both are mesmerising. If you have time just stand or sit somewhere in a nearby caffe or a restaurant and watch the city go by. Wonderful moments.

A beautiful town hall overlooking a main town square, you can see the building is very well preserved. There are a lot of shops on the square. It gives you a nice historical feeling, but even more fascinating is the modern architecture only 100 meters away and is still so well put together.

Every corner of this city is amazing. I care about the environment and bees, but most of the bakeries there were full of bees and I kinda have a panic attack😂😂

Not sure if it was because I visited on a weekend, but there was an area with bookshelves and beanbags, hammocks etc to lounge about and read. Also lots of food stands, some with seats, otherwise just buy the food and eat by the fountain. We got by with some broken German/English. Nice to sit and watch the trams go, watch a dog run into the fountain and play in the water (the owner tried holding him back initially) and have some food. Lively area yet chill.

As typical in Europe: downtown is super safe and clean, so even at night you won’t have any troubel hanging around and have a chat with random people. Highly recommended

Attractive building - but somehow it doesnt fit in to the old part of town. Wort a visit even for the interior, terace with panoramic view of the castle and there are always exhibitions and other events. You have to eave your bag in the basement gardarobe - prepare some change for the lockers /1 or 2 eur, but other coins might work as well

It’s a nice art museum with some interesting collections. I especially like the exhibition about the socialist society and the competitive nature of humans. If you go to the top of the building you could also see a panoramic view of the town.

If there was information in English about the objects included into the exhibition, I would try to understand them at least. In my opinion everything looks strange. Modern Art Museum with regularly changing exhibitions. Definitely worth a visit. It also hosts a museum shop and a coffee bar, serving from cold drinks to cocktails a wide variety of temptations, much longer open than the museum itself.

Well the outside of the building is unique and by far the best feature of this attraction. For $11 euro it was very sad. 3 rooms art that was far from art in our opinion. 1 room was pictures taken from inside a car in California. Highly unrecomended. Pic attached for ref of 1 room you'll get to see. The entire experience lasted maybe 15min. Safe your money go buy a Lebeekais semel.

I only saw it externally. It is certainly an interesting structure because I think it is literally impossible to find a similar structure in other cities but in my opinion it is a bit out of tune with the rest of the city! I did try to take in the modern art, unfortunately one of the two exhibitions was closed, the other (main) exhibition contained an ytong wall, a chair and a brass sculpture of a half-peeled orange. The orange looked pretty cool, but if you are planning to visit as a tourist, I recommend you save some money and go look at walls elsewhere.

A very nice building, inside we see large exhibition areas. Interesting contemporary artists. Perfect for adults who are into the arts! This museum is also suitable for children, but learn that the exhibitions are designed for adults and they are not easy for children to understand. We just stopped by the souvenirs shop and it was worth the visit. They have many creative gift ideas as well as book and it's so hard to leave without buying anything.

This was a great tour. The people at reception were very helpful with information about this museum and others. The armory has a wide variety of historic weapons and armor. It was really interesting to see the vast quantity and variety of artifacts. Give yourself some time to walk slowly if you want to read all about the items. The minimum would be an hour, but you could easily take two hours and still find it interesting.

A very interesting museum in the city centre, well worth a visit even for people who are not history enthusiasts. At the entrance you can get a booklet in multiple languages with interesting information about the collection. It took me a little more than half an hour for the entire museum, but do make sure to check the opening times on the website as it changes throughout the year and sometimes admission is only with a guided tour.

Huge collection of armors and weaponary, but too little detailed information! Always check their site before visiting since at some periods they have only and only guided tours. I believe at least at this museum the guide should be at least a military strategist so that he/she addresses most of visitors' questions. One of the most amazing collections I've seen anywhere. I took the English tour (and had an excellent guide) and learned a lot about medieval armor and weaponry. Afterwards I wandered on my own for about an hour to take pictures and look more closely. Many of the items have intricate details if you take the time to look closely. My only complaint is that the rooms could have better lighting.

Absolutely amazing collection of military weapons in the armoury. Even if this isn't really your thing, you should go for a look. Tens of thousands of weapons all lined up together makes for fascinating viewing. No bags allowed but there are little lockers you pay 1 euro for, but then get your money back when you retrieve your bag. Also there's an audio guide you can download beforehand if you want information as there isn't any at all alongside any of the objects. Make sure to look up when you're there. Many objects stored on the ceiling.

Amazing war museum, is the first time in my life I saw a huge gun's collection like this one. Definitely a must place to visit! Tickets cost 10€, the place is not pet friendly but the cashier keep mine at her place, so kind of her ☺️. There is no parking available around the museum.

I went to the Kastner & Öhler today, having a fashion adviser for the first time. My fashion adviser Miss Schrank was very professional and friendly, asked questions to find out exactly what I like and need, even when I couldn't articulate it well. She then came back with multiple pieces for me to try, and in the end I had trouble deciding what to take because she found so many things that fitted me perfectly. This is a great place to shop. However, in my reviews, where I feel like it’s relevant, I like to consider special aspects. In this case I want to highlight a matter of cultural consciousness. For context, Graz has a historically prized roof pattern. This business has decided to renovate their building at the center of Graz and promised to adjust the new roof to blend in. Now 10 years later there is no sign of coming through on that promise. The roof has a barren, metal tint. As a born citizen of this city this place is dear to me. The fact that a regional business consciously decided to disrupt the cultural heritage of its city is jarring to me, and quite frankly in my opinion it constitutes a sign of cultural ignorance and disrespect to anyone living here. To me this is 1-Star stuff. Apart from that, you can get everything from suits and clothing over cosmetics and perfume to sunglasses and bags here. There is even a really nice cafe on the last floor.

This company is refusing to keep promisses to the city and is willfully risking the UNESCO status of the city of Graz because 'Egger' is creating workplaces and built a underground car park no one needs in a city where are allready too many cars My theory is that egger was able to bribe the old mayor 'nagl' and cannot do it with 'kahr' so he needs to resort to populist methods because he can't buy his way out this time

Kids loved it, and so did we :) Where else you get to see clock with the dancing guy in Lederhosen? ;) Dancing figurea show only three times per day (11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.). Don’t give up if it doesn’t start at time - when we went to see it it was some 5min late. In the end of this “clock play”, “golden” rooster (hiden above the clock) crows :)

The main square in Graz (Hauptlatz) is a lovely place to visit. If you want traditional Austrian Fayre or food there are plenty of street vendors. Shopping is great too with major retailers plus local Austrian goods. No cars but plenty of trams to hop on and off, oh and if you like to have a meal in a restaurant, there's plenty. A little walk from the main square and you're at the river side (Mur).

Easily accessible, wonderful architecture, during the day square is filled with different street food bars. It has two different faces - one at night and the other during the day and both are mesmerising. If you have time just stand or sit somewhere in a nearby caffe or a restaurant and watch the city go by. Wonderful moments.

A beautiful town hall overlooking a main town square, you can see the building is very well preserved. There are a lot of shops on the square. It gives you a nice historical feeling, but even more fascinating is the modern architecture only 100 meters away and is still so well put together.

Every corner of this city is amazing. I care about the environment and bees, but most of the bakeries there were full of bees and I kinda have a panic attack😂😂

Not sure if it was because I visited on a weekend, but there was an area with bookshelves and beanbags, hammocks etc to lounge about and read. Also lots of food stands, some with seats, otherwise just buy the food and eat by the fountain. We got by with some broken German/English. Nice to sit and watch the trams go, watch a dog run into the fountain and play in the water (the owner tried holding him back initially) and have some food. Lively area yet chill.

Very scenic and nice central place, perfect for people watching and enjoying the sun. It’s amazingly interesting to watch the different people and think what they have on their mind. As typical in Europe: downtown is super safe and clean, so even at night you won’t have any troubel hanging around and have a chat with random people. Highly recommended

Never, never miss visiting the Sacher restaurant in the city center of Graz... It goes without saying that Wiener schnitzel...

One of the major Catholic churches in Graz. Situated near the terminal station of tramway line 1, just up the hill. Widely seen because of its exposed site. Definitely worth a visit.

Imposing cathedral that impresses not only through sheer size but also through the very detailed and ornate baroque interior. Located on a hill and accessible via a flight of a few hundred steps makes the whole experience even greater, you have a nice view from the top as well. The church can easily be reached by the no. 1 bus from the city center and is free to enter. The facade has been fully renovated and at the time of my visit they were putting the finishing touches on revamping works for the interior, it looks amazing.

Worth visiting, it is really beautiful both from the inside and outside. If you are lucky to come at the right time, you might even hear a piece on the pipe organ, which is to say the least spectacular. Definitely put it on your to-see list

The Piber Stud Farm is dedicated to the breeding of the famous Lipizzaner Stallions, which perform at the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. 60,000 people visit here annually, where they meet the breeding mares, see the foals, and learn about the breeding process and how these gangly little horses are turned into the renown Lipizzaner Stallions. When the foals are 4, those that qualify are sent to the school for training. When they are 10, and have passed the exacting training standards, they are ready to perform. When they are roughly 25, they again retire to peacefully age at Piber. All along the way there is the best of care and standards, so that only the best perform. The grounds include the Castle, which once was the home of Franciscan monks. It now houses admin offices, restrooms, and a courtyard which can be rented for events. There is plenty of parking, and a snack shop selling some nice gelato.

its a nice idyllic place for sure. But some things need to be improved. a) the visit hours for the guided tours are different than on the website. b) parking is not put up with signs if u are on the stud, and the websites loaction point brings u to the center of the stud where u cant park and c) currently no shows and nothing to see how they work with the animals. But again. its nice to learn about the Lipizans and see them.

Sights are great, horses are incredible. But. Territory is rather small and there's not much to see. And the restaurant needs more waiters (they were too busy to bring us coffee in 30 minutes)

I was a dressage rider and loved seeing where and how they are raised. The back dirt road over the mountain from Innsbruck was quite the treat.

Awesome landmark. A place where entry is free. It has a tasting structure and surrounds you from all sides. You can take beautiful photos. A nice spot calm to quiet and drink a coffee. A nice renaissance building. You can enter freely and enjoy the atmosphere. There are not much to do but you can walk in there, if you are interested in renaissance architecture you may love this building. There are nice historical sculptures. People say that there will be musicians playing in the court but I didn't see. Also I guess in winter there will be ice sculptures.

We walked through this mostly empty example of the first Renaissance building to be built in the city of Graz, starting in 1557. Today the Styria State Parliament meets in the lavish parlor. Otherwise, it is a wonderful example of Italian architecture with its lovely arches, tiers, and stonework, but it looked like it was unoccupied, as it is used mostly for festivals. The street was busy and noisy, but inside on the piazza, it was quiet and hushed. The Famous Glockenspiel sits atop the gable roof and at described times, the doors open and mechanical dancers appear to 'dance' to the chimes.

This building is one of the best testimony of renaissance period in Central Europe.

One of the most beautiful churches I've been in. They have a huge pipe organ and I was fortunate to visit while the organist was practicing. I stayed for an hour just to hear her play. Be sure to visit the mausoleum next door. The art work there is even more impressive.

This is, no doubt, an amazing cathedral. Beautiful on the inside. But I can never get over the fact that for millennia man is constructed these enormous palaces at an unconscionable expense.

Going back to the 15th century, the cathedral is built in Gothic style while the interior is decorated later in baroque style. The entrance is free and there is a lot to discover inside, very many intricate works of art, ornate and colorful altars, wonderful architectural elements, murals, reliefs and statues all making up a rich, tasteful space.

Also don’t miss the frescoe outside behind the glass, albeit faded and unclear, but the description underneath is informative.

This place really close to Graz Cathedral. A small but wonderful attraction. This stairs is really easy for finding on site. I loved the lighting and the spiral structure. I went to the top, but the middle is the largest and most beautiful point. You can review these mervids in a pleasant and free way. Don’t forget to take beautiful photos.

Double spiral stairs are a must visit for romantic couples. Women to go via the right side as they ara always “right”, men to go via the left. Don’t forget to kiss at every floor to make your relationship stronger and stronger… .

Located in in left corner of the courtyard of the Graz Town Crown. Not spectacular but a fascinating idea and construction. This double spiral staircase was built in 1500 by an in known masterbuilder during the reign of emperor Maximilian, the “Last Night”. There are numerous signs on the structure from the stonemasons you participated in the construction. It is not the only one of its kind in Central Europe but probably the most significant.

Loved this little gem. The double stairs were pretty cool and it was not busy at all. Enjoyed learning about the history of this building.

Short walk from the Graz Cathedral. Not much of a view at the top, and could get crowded.
