A beautiful spot with many different types of trails to walk, suitable for people with different types of fitness levels. It has a beautiful Torc waterfall to admire and take photos, hilly trails along with the simple trails around and along the lake. There is a cafe/restaurant at the main entrance and another one just inside the park for some delicious hot/iced beverages and a quick bite. Also, a beautiful historic castle with admissions to explore it closer from the inside.

A place worth going during summers. Scenic pathways for walks, bicycling or even having a horse cart riding. A place your kids or pets all will love to spend time in. Plenty of spaces for parking your cars and then having a time off from your hectic work life.

Lovely place to connect with nature. You can do 3 routes, red : long one 2.30 hours, blue : medium 65 min, yellow short 35-45 min. In all of them are steep inclines and declines, so wear some good shoes. We got amazing weather and the park was beautiful to see, floor is mostly moody and wet. Worth it to see the waterfall. It has a 3 parkings to park the car.

What a wonderful drive and beautiful scenery. The vista's and lakes are great. There is so much to see, and if we had more time, get in some of the hikes.

What an astonishingly beautiful place. So unspoilt. Stunning views are best seen either on foot or by hiring one of the horse-drawn carriages. We took the carriage option and this afforded us the chance to stop and stare which was fantastic. I would highly recommend you take the time to visit the beautiful place

Beautiful park to visit! Lots to see and do here, with historical buildings and hiking trails everywhere. The nature just comes alive all around you, with massive trees and old forests that have never been touched, combined with massive waterfalls and soothing streams. Muckross House was gorgeous but Muckross Abbey was far more interesting to us to walk around and see the historical significance. We would recommend spending a day here

What a beautiful place that is! Besides the wonderful scenery the most impressive thing is those many grand old trees there are! It seems they are from very different corners of the world, maybe not, maybe just not seen anymore. Marvellous!!

Horse carriage ride through the National Park on a glorious sunny morning is a total treat. So peaceful & beautiful!

Long hiking trails, bicycle ways, magnificent landscapes, nature, vegetation, diversity of living things... simply awesome but one day is not enough.

V nice park..lots of activities you can do. I enjoyed the walks/hiking. The torc falls was amazing.

My favorite day of the trip so far. Absolutely worth going to if you’re in Ireland. We walked the entire loop around Lake Dinis. There’s a lovely cottage about halfway to refresh, get a pot of tea, sandwich, pastry, etc. The views along the wall are incredible and even a point to see a waterfall. We walked along a few foot trails and did the yellow/blue loops for the waterfall. We did not do the red trail.

Beautiful scenery... lakes, mountains and ocean with the odd bit of woodland thrown in for good measure. Definitely worth a visit if you're into the great outdoors. Just look out for the midges.

Breathtaking beauty that is best experienced on a bike or by walk unless you just want the highlights such as Muckross house and Torc waterfall which you can do by car. One of my favorite forests/ national parks of all time and the biking route around Muckross lake is amazing! Very strongly recommend. One can easily spend days but would recommend at least 2-3 hours apart from the main sites. The lake is quite still at many points so you actually get to take reflection shots which with the trees look insane. There are also many small bridges that are quite nice. There are also plenty of small hiking routes. I didn't see many animals but there were plenty of birds.

Incredibly large and beautiful park. A bike gave us an opportunity to see much more of the park than if we were on foot. The Torc Waterfalls were magical but were easily the most pack area of the park.

Very vast area. Cool and some serious beautiful spots. We were coupled with a car and bus that kept stopping where were stopping. Thankfully, we got to head into Torc Waterfall. Stunning Waterfall. Nice place. Peaceful. Overall, amazing park

Lovely park - we rented bikes and cycled the largest route stopping at the meeting of the waters. Really peaceful place and great for a stroll or cycle.

We enjoyed the Jaunting Karts ride through the park. We saw folks walking, biking, and enjoying the park. What a lovely park! I suggest you make time to visit!

One of the most amazing, natural-beauty National Parks i have ever been!! The lake, the waterfall, the park, the vast energy from the trees..! I cannot recommend it more to new visitors in Ireland, especially if you're getting closer to County Kerry! 10/10**

The grounds here are beautiful and really well maintained. The tress and grass areas are lush green We spent our time here on the outside and did not make it into the house. There are many paths to walk the grounds and down to the lake or to the many gardens and stunning views. The views down at the lake are stunning and great for photographers. There is also a fair amount of parking as well as a cafe and toilets.

Really beautiful house and we loved to walk around in the gardens around it with a beautiful view on the lake. It is of course a tourist high light and therefore really crowded during summer. If you don't like that and you'd like to spend some time here when it's more quiete, go in autumn/winter time.

It's a charming building, no doubt. Unfortunately I couldn't get inside, but even the exterior is quite impressive. The gardens and the surrounding area are so beautiful, one could spend all day around.

We never got a chance to go inside, but the castle and gardens are gorgeous even from the outside. We even took a horse drawn carriage ride. Stunning views! If you go, please don't miss the Torc Waterfall hike nearby. It was lovely!

Loved this visit. We paid 12 euros for the combined farm and house visit on the door. No need to prebook. Well worth the visit, but rent a bike first! We parked the bikes outside the farm and walked around. It is lovely, without kids too! Lots of staff showing you how to make soda bread, butter, milking the cows, explaining what tuff is and why they burned that and not valuable wood. A fantastic day, highly recommended, very knowledgeable and enthusiastic employees

Gorgeous grounds and very well kept historical site. Cafe was good. Did not need to book in advance, had plenty of tickets available upon arrival during Sept when we were there. Docents were very informative. Wish there was more info on the grounds and then signage for what room you were in for the self guided tour - was hard to guess which room we were in.

Such a beautiful house inside the National Park. We didn’t pay to go inside but enjoyed walking the grounds and relaxing in the garden. Careful on the grass because it is so wet and muddy from all the rain, I thought I would be sucked down. Therefore, we were unable to walk to the lake from there.

I loved visiting this place. Wonderful surrounding. The lake, the gardens, The farm, you can do much around this place.

The shop is super. You can watch the pottery being made and there’s an excellent collection of gifts - clothes, books, sweets, trinkets, family crests, pottery, photographs, jewellery, tweeds, woollens… The toilets are usually clean. The cafe would be great but it stops serving hot food at 3pm. They could make a killing by extending that as the place is hiving until late during the summer months. The grounds are immaculate and the views are stunning. Car parking isn’t too bad. Well worth a stop off.

It a lovely house to visit and see how the rich lived. There are a lot of antique objects to view and also some great taxidermy. There is a nice route through the house which lets you see the rooms.

Didn't get to visit the house cause we were a large group and you have to book in advance. The gardens, the lake and the hiking really worthy! We even got the chance to see a couple of red deers close to the lake.

Beautiful grounds, the friary is a must-see! Don't miss the Yew tree. Took a daunting ride and it was quite lovely as well.

Nice old estate in really good shape. Nice grounds and they lead down to the lake. Worth taking the tour for history buffs. There’s also a 2km walking path to show how old farming was done along with people working or explaining sites at various parts of the path. A combo ticket was $12. Takes maybe 2 hours to do both and explore the grounds.

Muckross House is actually a must see when visiting the Killarney area. The house itself and the adjoining parks are very impressive and have lots of exhibits. However, it has to be said that the presentation seems a bit thrown together and the staff on site seem a bit disinterested, so that the whole thing seems more like a tourist attraction. It just lacks a bit of heart and enthusiasm.

Absolutely was worth the small fee that we paid to get into and tour the main house. I highly recommend people who have journeyed to get to the property, to get the full experience and take the tour. It is a good representation of all people lived during the gilded age.

We needed an indoor activity in Killarney Park to tuck away from the rain and ended up choosing Muckross House. The guides were very helpful but it was mostly a self-guided tour. We enjoyed walking through the rooms at our own pace and didn't spend more than 30mins or so within the house itself. Most of our time we spent exploring the grounds, the gardens, and going to the view of the water. I don't know if i'd say it's worth the price for admission into the House if you've got other places to visit, but on a rainy day it was worth it.

Nice place with perfect and welcoming staff. dry leaves spread absolutely everywhere inside were supposed to prevent people from sitting on the exhibits? it was a bit strange and felt like garbage everywhere.

Beautiful place and grounds. We did the self guided tour and took about an hour. The pamphlet helps you understand each room but we did talk to some guides throughout that gave us even more information.

Beautiful cafe with amazing choice of hot food and cakes. It is always very busy and the food is fresh and delicious. Good prices follow. There are a lot of seating places inside and a lovely 💕 sheltered area outside. Located in the Killarney National Park, through the main entrance to the park. Cafe connected with number of walking paths, rosarium, and Mini hedge maze. Absolutely stunning 😍 ✨️ 👌

Lovely house but the gardens are gorgeous. Also the lake and the views are something. I took a horse and carriage and saw the friary and the lakeside without having to walk in the rain. It was also possible to go to Torc waterfall, but I saw that previously.

A grand old mansion with lovely designs, cutlery and furniture from the early 19th century which you can walk around and explore. It takes about 45 minutes and the entry cost is €8. The gardens are also really nice to walk around and they have parking close by. Would recommend. My favorite parts in the Mansion were actually the game rooms and play things, the kitchens with all the utensils and ingredients bottles they used in the past, laundry rooms and other things that the servants were using. They have preserved those parts too, which is something that you don't typically get to see. The view of the lake from the top floor is also quite nice.

Fabulous free park and gardens. Lovely walking & biking trails, lovely coffee shop and plenty to explore. Carpark can get busy during the weekend especially during the summer but can usually still get a space to park.

Lovely piece of history gifted to the public by the last American owners. This was one of the few museums I’ve ever been to where you could get up close to some of the original artifacts. Of course you should not touch anything, but it is nice that items are not behind glass enclosures so you can actually see small details and take up close photographs. We enjoyed our self-guided tour and learned so much about the place, its history, and significance in Irish culture.

The Torc Waterfall located 7 kilometres from Killarney Town in Killarney National Park. A short walk from the car park will bring you to the base of the 66ft high Waterfall. You can enjoy breathing views all around and certainly at the top by following the stunning man laid stone path. Which in itself is amazing craftsmanship The walk has three loops around, some for the more experienced climbers. I would suggest the one that loops over to Muckross House. Here however you need to cross the busy main road, so caution with children would be advised. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.😊

Very beautiful and a must see place to visit in Ireland. Very quiet, greener and covered with long trees around. Nice n clear walkway's to walk & can go up to the mountain. Really enjoyable place for all ages. Recommend this place for nature lovers.

Lovely fast flowing waterfall, toward the end or beginng of the Ring of Kerry depending upon direction. A short gentle sloping walk on a dirt path to the falls along the creek about 1/4 of s mile if that. Public bathrooms

Beautiful waterfall, easy access, you can either park approx. 200m away,(but the parking lot is very small, only for 15 cars) OR you park at Muckross House and walk 1.5 km along the lake to the waterfall. Good trails, also suitable for Strollers. On the weekends it can become very crowded.

Lovely little waterfall which is a 5 minute walk from the parking lot. The surrounding lush greenery and forest makes it stand out really nicely. A main site to see in Killarney. There is also a hiking trail next to the waterfall that is over 30 minute to the top but the views at the top aren't that amazing. There is tons of parking next to the waterfall and a biking path that leads to it (have to cross the 2 lane road one though).

An amazing place in Killarney's national Park. Great day out with the kids and some fabulous walks with outstanding views. The power of the water flowing down the waterfall is beautiful and if you're lucky you'll spot one of the many deer that roam free around the area. Highly recommend for some peace and quite also when you just want to clear the head!!

From the parking to the waterfall is about 5 minutes walking. It is a small waterfall and you can also do some trekking around the park. From easy 40 minutes walking to a 5 hours walk. The place was nice and clean. Toilets are at the entrance.

If you hike and adore nature. I strongly suggest visiting Killarney National Park. There is a trail that leads to the waterfall-side summit of the mountain. We spent a hour there yet wanted to linger and take in the beauty. It was so lush and lovely.

Beautiful little nature area just off the Ring of Kerry. Definitely worth the stop. There are 3 different walking trails with the longest being an hour and a half. It is a beautiful, short walk to the Torc waterfall and it is very pretty.

Beautiful scenery, with several walking trails to follow. If you walk high enough you'll have a nice views. The place can be slippery when wet so be careful not to fall. There are not many parking spaces, so be prepared to wait for a spot available, especially during peak season.

A good spot for a hike in Killarney. We did not do the whole hike as we went close to sunset but could be a nice day trip to torc waterfall.

Beautiful, easy to get to, public toilets, and lots of people. I recommend going up the steps after the waterfall and doing the nice little loop hike that brings you around through the woods and to the lakes, ending with a nice walk back alongside the river.

It's not Niagra Falls but it's pretty. The mountain walk did it for me -the beautiful climb up dozens and dozens of rugid steps and the view of the lakes... Bearing in mind its a FREE attraction then its worth ticking off the list, enjoying the surrounding woodlands and natural beauty.

Great place to stop as you wrap up the Ring of Kerry. Plenty of photo ops. It's a short walk up some steps/trail that are in good condition to get to the top of the waterfall - maybe 6/10 on difficulty - the trail continues on for a good distance.

Stunning waterfall and a very short walk from the carpark -5mins. Toilets available. There's a hiking trail to do as well. The parking can be a hit or a miss depending if there's tour buses there but it clears out pretty quickly though. The path to the waterfall is quite flat so you'd be able to take a pram or a wheelchair up there

Extremely beautiful scenery. We drove this narrow road and was really amazed by its beauty. You can drive this road, there are quite many passing spots by the road. I would however recommend that you go from south to north. Start at Molly's Gap and head on north. Then you won't get stuck after a horse with cart. Because these carts won't let you pass easily. Then it's better to meet them head on, then you can just stop at a passing place and let them through. The beautiful part is in the middle and north of this road. Really really amazing scenery.

Was a foggy morning when we went sightseeing at the Gap of Dunloe but in some ways that enhanced the experience with a moody landscape to photograph. Definitely a lovely place to wander around.

Took the fantastic gapofdunloetraditionalboattours.com tour to Lord Brandon's Cottage then walked up and through the Gap to Kate Kearney's Cottage. Long walk but even as an infrequent walker it proved no problem as on roads all the way. Scenery is awesome with views around every corner. Try it and you will not regret it.

A must see when visiting Ireland! We parked near Kate Kearney’s cottage and walked up to the gap passing by the Strickeen Mountain entrance. It’s about a 17 min uphill walk to the wishing bridge where you’ll get breathtaking views of the mountains. Definitely worth the hike to see it in person and take in the sights of wild horses and mountain goats too. Would definitely recommend.

Not the best of photos. We drove through the pass and stopped at several places to soak up the atmosphere. Went through the Rock valley, it does take time but a magical journey not to be missed.

The MOST beautiful place in all of Ireland. That's what some say. I now understand why. Magical lush landscapes coated with ice, backdrops of semi-frozen lakes, horses enjoying the grass and sunshine, views that transform in totality because of the erratic weather. 🏔️ A 3 hour leisurely walk for all ages, this is a gem not to be missed. 🚶🏻🚶🏻‍♀️ The Gap of Dunloe is known to be PACKED with tourists during the summer. This was NOT the case for us. We had the walk all to ourselves. Because of the 19 flights by RyanAir which are deliberately aimed at low peak seasons, we got to experience the legendary Gap of Dunloe in such serenity. ❄️ This was truly one of the most beautiful walks I've ever had in my life.

The hike is unmatched! Lots of sheep on the trail that are friendly. The wishing bridge and Kate Kearney’s Cottage should also be visited.

Unbelievable how much traffic on a one lane road. How can they allow 2 way traffic on 1 lane for 18km for cars, bicycles, horse carriages and pedestrians? Most dangerous traffic situation in the world. Absolutely horrible. The views were spectacular.

Very nice area. We went hiking the gap and in ~4 hours you can walk up and down with a few stops. It is a hilly area so the hike can get quite exhausting. Take enough water and some snacks. The nature tho is absolutely stunning and every corner could be a postcard. Some sheep will walk around the street. I recommend to park your car at the big car park and then hike or take a horse carriage up.

Love the place. Watch the traffic on road. Best time to avoid too many tourists is winter.

Gorgeous historically important natural and cultural landscape. There is no safe access for pedestrians and so must walk on "scenic drive". Road only 1 lane with turnouts 80kmph speed limit, and you share it with trucks, cars, horse carriages, bikers, and cyclists. Aggressive signage.

What a mesmerising location ! Time stops there … It’s a must must must visit if you are in Kerry !! Ireland is such a raw and wild country and this place lives upto its expectations … I recommend walking, if you can ! If you are going by a car, then drive carefully - you aren’t allowed to stop the car anywhere in the gap of Dublin stretch so you will miss stopping by and clicking pictures … The terrain is also difficult for driving … Don’t go at night ! Please - you will get scared and feel haunted ! Ha ha … It’s an amazing place, and do visit it. Spend sometime there … :) Amazing …

A highlight of my trip. This was such a beautiful area with deer and sheep wandering around. I parked at Kate Kearney's cottage and hiked. About a 20 min walk to the Wishing Bridge and 40 mins to Auger Lake from the cottage with fairly flat roads. I arrived at 7 AM and had the whole place to myself.

This place is stunning. It literally looks like a fairytale movie set. No one would be surpised if Hobbits and Wizards suddenly appeared on the landscape, (or a leprechaun for that matter). There are mountains and trails to hike, carriage (trap) rides, sheep roaming free, serene lakes and a pretty little river with stone bridges running through this beautiful valley. I think it might be the prettiest place on earth.

We had a family gathering and gad a great time. We stayed in the houses and they were comfortable but needs updating. Food was great at the bar and the restaurant. Waiting staff were fantastic. Swimming pool was small, steam room was not working properly also plastic chairs in there🤔 It would be lovely if they put some menthol in the steam room. Ladies changing room toilet sit was broken, also it would lovely if they had some sort of dryer for swimming costumes. Lots to do around. walk around the lake was great.

An amazing castle with an exceptional guided tour that costs just €5. You get to learn a lot about how smartly castles such as this were designed and appreciate the ingenuity of people in the 1500s. Very strongly recommend. The castle itself is quite beautiful from the outside and the inside is quite rustic and filled with traps /defense mechanisms against invasions which are quite ingenious. They also have a lovely top hall where parties are believed to be held. It is also quite pleasant to walk outside and they have cycle locking stands.

A lovely scenic spot, with views out across the lake to the mountains in the distance. Be aware you CAN NOT fly drones here as I found out but they were very nice about it and just asked me nicely to bring it down. We were very fortunate that our driver who was taking us from Dublin to Kilarney was extremely knowledgeable of this castle and it's history. If you have the opportunity take the Ross castle tour and learn more about its history. Sometimes photos do not do a site Justice Justice highly recommend for locals and travelers alike.... You will find some of the photos at this site or from the site worth from the tour on the lake which a Hollywood which I highly recommend you taking along with the history and travel of Ross castle

Deer knocking about the grounds along with a swan family with their two cygnets. Fishermen out on their boats in the lake. You can go on boat tours from here too. Toilets are available. This place is best viewed at night if you can as the castle is lit up then and it is very picturesque

The park around the castle is an amazing place to walk around with family. You'll meet swans, ducks, deers and enjoy a stunning view of the lake and mountains. Also, you can rent a boat over there. The castle is a great place as well. There are a few parkings over there. In general, I highly recommend this place 👌

This picturesque gem on the banks of the Killarney Lake is certainly worth a visit. Beautifully set in romantic nature surrounded by forest and with mighty mountain range in the background could easily be the setting for a historic movie. The castle is comfortably accessible by car, and there are several easily walkable trails around it.

It’s a beautiful Castle with amazing view! The tour guide was so good. You will discover a lot about Irish medieval history and architecture. If you’re walking The way to arrive is just perfect as you will cross the National park from Killarney city center and it’s just 40 min walk.

Great place to have a walk. Ross Island is a great walk after visiting castle. Lots of history on the island to explore and the lakeside is awesome. Free car parking too

Beautiful scenery. An absolute must when in Killarney. Not only is the castle stunning, but the view of the lake and the mountain tops are incredible. We saw some wild deer just running around, which apparently is quiet common. Lots of ducks and swans there too. There was a small little shed thing selling stuff like coffee and ice creams, but it was cash only so we couldn't get anything.. Great place though, kids love it too..

We visited the exterior and the small visitor center, which were all free. It’s a beautiful spot right on the water. We took a carriage ride from the city through the Killarney National Park and stopped here to enjoy.

Very beautiful place to walk and enjoy what's left of the castle, mostly we enjoyed the gardens and the surrounding area outside. It is recommended to take a boat to the beautiful island and enjoy the the way and the view from the water towards the castle.

What an absolutely beautiful place.. We went twice. Once during very busy hours and we done the boat trip to see all the islands. The seconds time we went back at 8pm at night, it was very quiet, the sun was starting to set, the sounds & views were just amazing. It was extremely peaceful ❤️ Definitely recommend visiting!

I’ll preface by saying we arrived at the castle based on data from Google Maps which showed the castle cost 5.50€ per person and was open until 5:45pm. We arrived at 4:45pm to a completely closed castle and we were not the only ones confused. A group of other people were also trying to figure out how to enter. At the front of the building is a sign that states the castle closes at 5pm and the last admittance is an hour before closing, so 4pm. The visit was not completely lost as we did have absolutely stunning views and were able to view the castle from the exterior. The surrounding area is severely flooded though and inaccessible in some places. The grounds need more upkeep as I am not sure disabled folk are going to be able to get around too easily.

The spot is stunning. Very calm, peaceful and beautiful area. Horse riding also available. The climate was good. Was very freezy wind so, visit there with a good jacket, hand gloves etc.

We had a great time touring the castle grounds, and looking at the battlements. The exhibits and informational plaques were a really intriguing read. The tour was also fun! Claudia was our guide and she was really well informed about the castle and masterfully answered any questions we had. It’s awesome to see the original building techniques used in the restoration of the castle and it’s a great place to pop in if you’re in Killarney.

We arrived right as the castle opened and signed up for the first tour of the day. The tour guide was absolutely brimming with fun facts about the castle, its inhabitants, and living in “Olden Times.” Our family of four thoroughly enjoyed it. The castle grounds are lovely but I highly recommend going on the tour if you want to get the best experience.

Excellent place and great boat ride as well. please carry cash if you want to do boat rides. Boat people don't accept cards and there is no nearby ATM. So please keep cash. Other than that the castle is a good, perfect place to visit on a sunny day and it is excellent to see how older people used to live. Excellent place to know about ancient Irish history. Highly recommended and great for the people who like ancient places

Took a 60min boat trip, out onto Lake. Castle was closed to the public, except for expensive guided tours. Toilets closed, and signs directing visitors to use toilets in the town...approx 1km away. Some paths flooded.

Stunning castle set on a beautiful lake, surrounded by mountains, tickets are only $5 for guided tour. Highly recommended!

Good scenic viewing spot on Ring of Kerry route, with a gift shop & cafe. Popular tourist attraction.

So many stunning views on the Ring of Kerry drive, this was spectacular. Got a coffee from the cafe, sat on the wall and enjoyed the view. Great for a loo break too.

With stopping slightly further up the road at the car park 30 seconds away from the main location, the views from that spot are near enough identical but the area is less busy than the gift shop area and offers a more naturally peaceful way to experience the area.

This cafe is just so perfectly placed. We had started our Ring of Kerry from Kenmare, and after crossing Molls we reached here. This was the time we were looking for breakfast and toilets. The food was so amazing. We had sandwich, it was warmed, plated with salad and crisps. The coffee was great too. The toilets were clean. The staff were very humble. There is a beautiful view of ladies view. The car park has ample parking. Just take your breakfast and sit on the outside seating, it's bliss. The cafe has a gift shop with amazing souvenir and clothes. Do check that too. You will love it

Beautiful viewpoint, easy to reach and very well signposted. Only negative is how busy the main view point ‘Ladies’ View’ is. We came in mid August and found it somewhat rushed as there were lots who wanted photographs at the view point or were in huge tour groups. Otherwise, it is a lovely place to take in the scenery and to look over the winding hills and lakes.

Great place to eat and drink, breakfast, lunch break or just a cup of tea ☕ or coffee with delicious cake 🍰 or glass of your favourite drink 🍷🍸🥃, there is something for everyones taste. And view is just breathtaking... 🥰 🏞️

Plenty of parking both across the road and next to the cafe/restaurant We had a stop at ladies’ view for a quick cup of tea and to use the restroom. The view is beautiful and well worth the stop alone. They have an upstairs outdoor patio, we sat inside at a small area at the top of the stairs though. Lovely place in a beautiful spot. Well worth the stop. if I was passing, would I stop again? Yes, most definitely. 😊

It is a beautiful spot to stop and enjoy the beautiful scenery. With a wide range of food and drinks on offer all prepared fresh for you... their white chocolate and raspberry cheese cake is to die for and a huge slice.

It's no wonder the Queen was impressed with this view . It's about 14km from Killarney , very good road up but lots of sharp turns. The views over the mountains with the lake in the distance is impressive and to add to the occasion a few deer joined us There is a restaurant with sufficient parking where we enjoyed some coffee. The restaurant has an upper deck which is open and gives even better views. Also has a little gift shop on site

Beautiful abbey that is a 5 minute walk from the car park. The car park itself is small and although we were able to find parking, I could see it filling up quickly during the busy season. The abbey itself is well maintained and there is no cost to see it. We saw many abbeys during our time in Ireland but I found this one to be one of the better ones. It’s much bigger than it looks when approaching it, and there are many rooms and levels to explore. Unlike many places that are restricted, you are able to move freely through most of Muckross.

Beautiful ruins of an old Franciscan friary with a cemetery. It is free to enter and you spend about 15 minutes here. Most tours to Muckross house don't stop here, so you will need to be either biking/your own vehicle. It is not well maintained so you actually get to experience how nature slowly retakes things in a way. You can walk along the spiral staircase and see the various rooms and chimneys inside which were quite nice and also read the old inscriptions on Stone. If you have some time I would recommend it.

What a beautiful place to visit. A nice walk in to the Abbey and it is absolutely amazing to explore around. The graveyard is fascinating and being able to walk around the abbey itself brings you back centuries to imagine what it was like when it was in use.

This was absolutely our favorite abbey we’ve visited. A good walk from parking and worth it. Rich in history. The yew tree and the arches hall are so amazing.

Incredible building with some extremely well preserved areas, particularly the cloister and the main hall window wall which stands almost complete, lacking only the glass in the windows. The rest of the grounds is covered by a large and well preserved graveyard which seems to have been in some kind of use until very recently. Absolutely worth a visit and a walk around the grounds if you have the chance.

Interesting place to spend a few hours exploring all the rooms, hallways, stairs, and viewing ports. When in the area stop by and check it out, especially since there is no charge!

Stunning architecture centered around a beautiful old tree. Access to a partially restored second floor and the lower floor of the tallest tower.

I loved everything about this experience. The abbey wasn't too far a walk from the parking lot, maybe 5-10 minutes. The grounds of the abbey were beautiful and it was very cool walking through the ruins and imagining how it looked while it was whole. The tree in the middle of the abbey was what made me want to go there and was as great in person as I imagined. There was a nice visitors center with a gift shop, food, and bathrooms.

Beautiful old Abby building ruins well preserved with a cemetery still in use today. We took a "jaunty car" (horse and carriage) from our hotel, The Victoria into the National Park to the Abby. It was a delight and a nice way to fend off the rain. Loved exploring the ruins and the surrounding woods. Check out the Kerry cows on the way (source of KerryGold butter) and watch for the deer in the woods along the paths.

Very impressive building - a lot of rooms and stairs can be visited by your own. Amazing old Jew tree in the middle. And everything for free - definitive a must see in Ireland

Incredible place! Very large area in front of the abbey, large parking lot, lots of greenery, clean and tidy. The abbey itself is majestic and powerful. Its heart is the tree inside. Peaceful atmosphere. There are many stairs and rooms that you can enter and imagine the spirit of the past. The building is surrounded by a cemetery, which gives it a special perception.

Gorgeous ruins on a gorgeous estate. Plan on spending the day here and venture around the grounds. Take the trail along the lake back towards MuckRoss House (if by foot). We did notice a number of people struggling with the stairs, so please be cautious. Rules and regulations are different outside of the US. Climb up and down at your own risk.

Very interesting building. It's almost like a maze with different areas to explore. Make sure you go up every set of stairs so you don't miss anything! It's free, and only a short cycle along a very beautiful path from Killarney!

There’s an energy here, you feel it. Walking through the cemetery is humbling, people buried throughout all of history. The ruins of the church are breathtaking, the old stone walls stand tall and strong, with the upstairs intact perfectly. A nice hand drawn map of the abbey is in the center courtyard, next to the powerful ancient Yew tree. It’s a magical place, but one with a deep energy that’s not to be disturbed.

Very moving experience. The yew tree in the precints of the Abbey shows how the times change, but nature survives. The Abbey gave some insights into the life of monks nearly 800-900 years ago. The harsh weather they may have faced makes one conclude - they were really devoted to the faith

This ended up being one of my favorite stops we made on the ring of kerry. Pictures do not do it justice, a visit here feels like stepping back in time. There was no line, no tickets to purchase, no gates. Just you and an old ruined friary. I loved exploring it and the yew tree was especially beautiful.

Partially roofed and well maintained ruin of 15th century Franciscan friary with attached graveyard (graves dating from 17th century to modern day). Relatively safe and good for hide and seek. Lovely spot for quiet contemplation and easy exploration. About 1 kilometre walk along paved road from Jarvey Car Park on Muckross Road, through Muckross Lodge gateway. Continue along the paved road up to Muckross House and gardens.

An amazing Catholic Church with gothic architecture, exposed stone arches stained glass and 1800 aesthetic where one can pray in peace. The stained glass images draw a beautiful parallel between various events associated with Jesus and events associated with St Patrick which was very informative. It is one of the largest and oldest churches that still remain with the Catholic Church after Church of England/Ireland stole the rest.

Picturesque cathedral with tall ceilings and lovely painted windows. It’s a massive church with lots of space. Must visit if around the area.

Wonderful cathedral, we visited yesterday. We enjoyed quietly looking around, taking in the experience. We said a few prayers, made a donation and lit a candle. Would have loved to hear the pipe organ, no such luck. Love visiting the cathedrals. !!! As we were leaving, we looked up and saw a rainbow! Made us smile!

An absolutely beautiful Cathedral! The architecture is amazing and it is free to enter! If you're in the area for the Ring of Kerry or the National Park, incorporate a walk over here into your stay in Killarney!

Beautiful place a bit outside city center. Huge cathedral, one of the biggest in Ireland and a second tallest church on whole island. Worth to visit. I recommend it.

My husband, granddaughter traveled to Ireland in 2022. We drove past this beautiful building & took photos. Didn't know we cld go inside but wish we had. Maybe next time!

An excellent example of a warm and welcoming religious space. Tall windows on all sides bring the available daylight inside colourfully. A 1970s refurb means the interior has a surprisingly modern feel for an early Victorian building. Recommend for Mass on Sunday mornings at 10:30, with music.

Beautiful cathedral love the crib

One of the most amazing churches I have visited, not only in Ireland.

We stopped as a spur of the moment sight see, this Cathedral is beautiful and became our favorite that we were able to check out. Beautiful inside with lots of reflection places for prayer and candle lighting.

Amazing walk to Torc mountain. I'd recommend parking at the Torc Waterfall carpark and walking up to the trail after viewing the waterfall. The walk is a mix of gravel, rocks and boardwalks, and an out and back - when we got to the summit, the weather was wild and the views covered in clouds but still a lovely hike. We chose to descend the mountain and stopped halfway down for a small packed lunch with a view of the adjacent mountain once we'd gotten below the clouds.

Great climb, moderate fitness required. Start at the waterfall and it will add a degree of difficulty in terms of fitness. Very safe climb, would recommend top car park if undertaking with kids

Love the hike and scenic views. moderately strenuous. Make sure to wear good clothing and shoes as winds get more strong and cold as you climb up.

Great views of Killarney very easy trail for beginners.

Beautiful hike! The view from the top is stunning. The trailhead isn't marked very well. As you're facing the sign about the hikes in the car park, turn left and follow what looks like a road. Walk through the gate. This is the beginning of the hike.

Wonderful view from the top of the mountain and during the hike. The hike is relatively easy because of the partly wooden path, but took for us a bit longer than expected (1,5 hours from the car park). The mountain path is not particularly marked on the spot, but following the map it's easy to find.

Great views on a finr day over most Killarney lakes. Brilliant work by park authorities making the walk up the hill safe as possible and environmentally friendly by the use of raised wood walking platforms

This is a really nice hike! We parked at the lower lot for a bit longer hike. The beginning of the hike from the lower lot is the super touristy Torc Waterfall. After passing the waterfall and ascending a nice bunch of steps, we were on our way down the Kenmore Way. The hike was beautiful with amazing scenery inside the park including an old farm dwelling, with stone fences still standing the test of time. Just shy of two miles from the lower car park, we reached the split for Torc Mountain from the Kenmore Way path. The Torc Mountain trail is extremely easy to follow and improved all the way. Overall, our Garmin watch recorded a 1500+ foot vertical gain. From the top of the mountain, the views were stunning! The overall hike distance was 6 miles and we knocked it out at a moderate pace with multiple picture stops in just under two hours.

Didn’t pick the best of days to do this climb but it was great all the same. Took about 1-2 hours up and down. For good for beginners, saw lots of kids climbing. Wooden sleepers for the majority with great grip.

A fantastic hike, very rewarding views the whole way up. Nicely tracked too, kudos to the people who maintain this trail. I didn’t see anywhere to drop a donation.

It takes around 2 hours in total to go up and down. It is absolutely worth it especially when the weather is good. The scenery is magnificent!

The grounds here are beautiful and really well maintained. The tress and grass areas are lush green We spent our time here on the outside and did not make it into the house. There are many paths to walk the grounds and down to the lake or to the many gardens and stunning views. The views down at the lake are stunning and great for photographers. There is also a fair amount of parking as well as a cafe and toilets.

Really beautiful house and we loved to walk around in the gardens around it with a beautiful view on the lake. It is of course a tourist high light and therefore really crowded during summer. If you don't like that and you'd like to spend some time here when it's more quiete, go in autumn/winter time.

It's a charming building, no doubt. Unfortunately I couldn't get inside, but even the exterior is quite impressive. The gardens and the surrounding area are so beautiful, one could spend all day around.

We never got a chance to go inside, but the castle and gardens are gorgeous even from the outside. We even took a horse drawn carriage ride. Stunning views! If you go, please don't miss the Torc Waterfall hike nearby. It was lovely!

Loved this visit. We paid 12 euros for the combined farm and house visit on the door. No need to prebook. Well worth the visit, but rent a bike first! We parked the bikes outside the farm and walked around. It is lovely, without kids too! Lots of staff showing you how to make soda bread, butter, milking the cows, explaining what tuff is and why they burned that and not valuable wood. A fantastic day, highly recommended, very knowledgeable and enthusiastic employees

Gorgeous grounds and very well kept historical site. Cafe was good. Did not need to book in advance, had plenty of tickets available upon arrival during Sept when we were there. Docents were very informative. Wish there was more info on the grounds and then signage for what room you were in for the self guided tour - was hard to guess which room we were in.

Very informative and enjoyable outing. There is a nice restaurant nearby, a shop and the muckross ground are set in the heart of Killarney national park.

Such a beautiful house inside the National Park. We didn’t pay to go inside but enjoyed walking the grounds and relaxing in the garden. Careful on the grass because it is so wet and muddy from all the rain, I thought I would be sucked down. Therefore, we were unable to walk to the lake from there.

I loved visiting this place. Wonderful surrounding. The lake, the gardens, The farm, you can do much around this place.

The shop is super. You can watch the pottery being made and there’s an excellent collection of gifts - clothes, books, sweets, trinkets, family crests, pottery, photographs, jewellery, tweeds, woollens… The toilets are usually clean. The cafe would be great but it stops serving hot food at 3pm. They could make a killing by extending that as the place is hiving until late during the summer months. The grounds are immaculate and the views are stunning. Car parking isn’t too bad. Well worth a stop off.

It a lovely house to visit and see how the rich lived. There are a lot of antique objects to view and also some great taxidermy. There is a nice route through the house which lets you see the rooms.

Didn't get to visit the house cause we were a large group and you have to book in advance. The gardens, the lake and the hiking really worthy! We even got the chance to see a couple of red deers close to the lake.

Nice old estate in really good shape. Nice grounds and they lead down to the lake. Worth taking the tour for history buffs. There’s also a 2km walking path to show how old farming was done along with people working or explaining sites at various parts of the path. A combo ticket was $12. Takes maybe 2 hours to do both and explore the grounds.

Muckross House is actually a must see when visiting the Killarney area. The house itself and the adjoining parks are very impressive and have lots of exhibits. However, it has to be said that the presentation seems a bit thrown together and the staff on site seem a bit disinterested, so that the whole thing seems more like a tourist attraction. It just lacks a bit of heart and enthusiasm.

Absolutely was worth the small fee that we paid to get into and tour the main house. I highly recommend people who have journeyed to get to the property, to get the full experience and take the tour. It is a good representation of all people lived during the gilded age.

We needed an indoor activity in Killarney Park to tuck away from the rain and ended up choosing Muckross House. The guides were very helpful but it was mostly a self-guided tour. We enjoyed walking through the rooms at our own pace and didn't spend more than 30mins or so within the house itself. Most of our time we spent exploring the grounds, the gardens, and going to the view of the water. I don't know if i'd say it's worth the price for admission into the House if you've got other places to visit, but on a rainy day it was worth it.

Nice place with perfect and welcoming staff. dry leaves spread absolutely everywhere inside were supposed to prevent people from sitting on the exhibits? it was a bit strange and felt like garbage everywhere.

Beautiful place and grounds. We did the self guided tour and took about an hour. The pamphlet helps you understand each room but we did talk to some guides throughout that gave us even more information.

Beautiful cafe with amazing choice of hot food and cakes. It is always very busy and the food is fresh and delicious. Good prices follow. There are a lot of seating places inside and a lovely 💕 sheltered area outside. Located in the Killarney National Park, through the main entrance to the park. Cafe connected with number of walking paths, rosarium, and Mini hedge maze. Absolutely stunning 😍 ✨️ 👌

Lovely house but the gardens are gorgeous. Also the lake and the views are something. I took a horse and carriage and saw the friary and the lakeside without having to walk in the rain. It was also possible to go to Torc waterfall, but I saw that previously.

A grand old mansion with lovely designs, cutlery and furniture from the early 19th century which you can walk around and explore. It takes about 45 minutes and the entry cost is €8. The gardens are also really nice to walk around and they have parking close by. Would recommend. My favorite parts in the Mansion were actually the game rooms and play things, the kitchens with all the utensils and ingredients bottles they used in the past, laundry rooms and other things that the servants were using. They have preserved those parts too, which is something that you don't typically get to see. The view of the lake from the top floor is also quite nice.

Fabulous free park and gardens. Lovely walking & biking trails, lovely coffee shop and plenty to explore. Carpark can get busy during the weekend especially during the summer but can usually still get a space to park.

Lovely piece of history gifted to the public by the last American owners. This was one of the few museums I’ve ever been to where you could get up close to some of the original artifacts. Of course you should not touch anything, but it is nice that items are not behind glass enclosures so you can actually see small details and take up close photographs. We enjoyed our self-guided tour and learned so much about the place, its history, and significance in Irish culture.

Beautiful place to see, landscaping at it perfect if you in to the beauty of the outdoors plus the Muckross house can be seen as it was back in the days.

The whole experience, start to finish, was wonderful! Liam helped me book and was kind and easy to work with. Mark was the falconer and was informative and laid back as it gets. We had the best time learning about the different birds and getting to handle them was a once in a lifetime experience. Well worth it!!

This was the most magical experience flying a hawk and three owls. It was wonderful to learn more about the birds, and the differences between the 3 types of owls. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was very easy to arrange the tour through email and location was great! Highly recommend this experience!

Liam was an excellent host and taught us a lot about the birds and what it takes to be a falconer in Ireland. We had plenty of time to interact with the birds and even his alpacas in the pen next to us! It was interesting to learn the differences between hawks/falcons and even those lazy owls. Thanks again, Liam for a wonderful time!

This was the HIGHLIGHT of our time in Ireland. Liam brought 5 birds and we flew and let 4 of them (the first one, a falcon can only be comfortable around their handler and wow he was a beautiful bird!). Liam is obviously doing what he loves. The hawks and owls were well cared for and our 6 and 9 year old had the best time. Liam let the girls fly them as much as their hearts desired and the birds were only too happy to be fed by them. Cookie the spotted eagle owl was a hoot - she was basically a flying cat with all that sass. Definitely recommend this and we will be doing this again!

I went in not knowing if I would enjoy this experience but I was blown away with how incredibly special it was. Patrick gave us amazing information about the birds and helped us truly fall in love with each of them! I would do it again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend.

Absolutely amazing experience! Was one of the best highlights of an already amazing trip and cemented our love for alpacas, owls, hawks and falcons. Please make sure to be aware of the location (I thought it was somewhere other than where it was...fortunately my driver researched it so we made it on time (would have been completely my fault, but don't mimic my mistake).

Highlight of our honeymoon and memories we will treasure forever. We are both huge birds of prey fans and had a barn owl deliver the rings at our wedding ceremony. Was so nice to see and spend quality time with Púca the Barn Owl, as well as the other owls Dusty and Freddie and the two harris hawks, Khaleesi and one we affectionately named Hei Hei (Liam we hope the name sticks!). Liam was absolutely fantastic and we can't recommend him or this experience more than enough. Liam is so knowledgeable and you can tell that he has a genuine love and respect for all his birds which is incredibly endearing to witness and be a part of. Time just flew and we wished we could have stayed longer. We will be back for sure !!

I can't say enough about how much we enjoyed and would recommend our experience with Liam of Falconry Kerry. Liam is so personable and even sent me alternate directions because of road construction. It was such a personalized experience and all four of us were able to hold/feed each of the birds (falcon, hawk, and three different types of owl) multiple times. Liam is also a wealth of knowledge about the birds and the history of Falconry. If you are anywhere near Killarney you NEED to go to Falconry Kerry!!

Wow. Breathtaking experience! Packed a lot into the hour I had with them and every second of it was magic. Patrick was full of knowledge as well as humor and was a lovely person to work with. He answered all my questions and made it a memorable experience. Will definitely recommend to anyone I know headed to Ireland. Will return. Wish you all the best.

I wanted to thank Patrick, Gandalf (gray owl), Willow (barn owl), and George (hawk) for a very entertaining and educational time Tuesday (30 Apr 2024).  It was thrilling to be so close to, and even stroke the feathers of, these beautiful birds!  They were incredibly well trained and Patrick was an excellent handler.  We got just enough time in the field with George and Gandolf before the weather turned rainy, but Willow was fully able to entertain us in the shed afterwards.  The photos and slow motion videos we were able to take were also stunning.  It will surely be one of, if not THE highlight of our trip!

My wife & I had an incredible experience with Patrick and all of the birds we saw today. This was our first exposure to falconry and it couldn't have been easier or more fun. Patrick was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions related to the experience. Overall 10/10! Could not have been more pleased with the entire experience! Scheduled our visit while staying nearby. It was just us with the birds (no other guests) which made it so personal. We had such a wonderful time! One of the highlights of our trip to Ireland. Our falconer also gave us tips on how to video the birds in slow motion. Thank you so much for making this such a special experience!

Absolutely wonderful and amazing experience! Our falconer, Patrick, was knowledgeable and fun, and we had a private experience where we met several birds of pray and took turns having them land on our glove and interacting with us. This has been one of our top highlights on our trip so far and we would definitely do it again if in the area! 100% would recommend to all!

Wonderful experience spending time with a variety of predatory birds, leaning about them, and getting the opportunity to have them fly to you and land on your arm. Staff were brilliant and ensured everyone had the opportunity to hold and get photos with the birds. A family run business deserves to be supported. We booked before our trip to Killarney and thank you to Liam, who was incredibly helpful and friendly, and made the booking process easy. We participated as part of a group but believe they can take private bookings also. Totally recommend!

This is a must do experience. We went with a group ranging from 6 to 50+ and every single person thought it was the best stop on the trip. Despite the rain, Liam and Patrick were able to show us so many owls and hawks, and taught us so much about the birds. They were so nice and even got the more hesitant people in our party to participate, while suggesting great photos and keeping everyone at ease. Liam was very easy to work with as we had many changes in our group size - we loved our trip to Falconry Kerry!

Visited with a group of 6 children ranging in age between 2-7 years old. A great experience. Kids had a lovely time. Fantastic outdoor playgrounds, lots of indoor areas for rainy days (new pirate ship playground was a big hit). There's loads of toilets, sinks, & lots of picnic tables for snack times so you could spend all day there. Kids never got bored. Enjoyed looking at the animals too. Maybe the fairy trail could be developed a bit more. Lovely hot chocolate in the café & friendly staff. Will definitely be back soon.

This is a fantastic location for all ages, and all families. I visited with my wife and 1 year old son, and we had a blast! The staff was amazing, the farm is very open and spacious, and all animals are friendly. We had a wonderful time, and we will return for sure! 5/5

Nice place for kids, they can cuddle or feed a difrent kind animals. Playground big one.

Nice spot and in fairness they have made great use of the indoor space which was a great source of entertainment for the kids as the rain pelted down. The kid goats stole the show, in no way shy and will chew on anything!! Lovely spot and very well run.

Visited the farm for Halloween experience with the family. Lovely outdoor area with lots of farm animals to admire and pet. Great indoor & outdoor play areas for the smallies to play in. Staff were very polite and welcoming to us. The only downfall was the pumpkins were not included with the purchased tickets, considering they were not cheap. Also, the pumpkin patch seemed unusual with the pumpkins looking as they were just thrown into a field. However, it is a lovely place for a day out with the kiddies for a true farm pet experience.

We had a great afternoon with the grandchildren. Would recommend it for a half day out.

Loved this place went with my partner and our son and he absolutely loved being able to pet the animals and play outside. The staff are fantastic. Would highly recommend

Excellent place just a short drive outside of Killarney. Plenty of animals to see and the conversion of the old dairy and cowshed into a play area is just great for the kids. Nice walks around the farm including a fairy trail.

We go to Kennedys Pet farm at least twice a year. Once every Easter and every summer. This is the 3rd Year in a row we have attended the Easter Egg hunt and we just love it. This petfarm just has it all. There is everything. We especially love the new addition of the indoor playground absolutely amazing. The owners and staff are always friendly and helpful. The price is very reasonable. Highly recommend.

Came here with my two small kids (under 4). We all really enjoyed ourselves, The loved the interaction with all the animals roaming free around the farm ya and the staff are very friendly and helpful, Safe to say il be coming back again. 5*****

Being here many times before . Went today and was extremely dissapointed. Very little animals and no staff around except for in cafe or for the 15 mins petting time with rabbits and Guinea pigs. Not worth the entry fee of 52 euro for a family .

I brought 44 children and teachers here on our junior/senior infant school tour. Wide open spaces well monitored. Friendly staff to greet you on arrival. Plenty of play areas for all weather conditions. Great selection of animals and plenty of 'petting' opportunities . Thank you for such a pleasant and enjoyable visit.

We really enjoyed our visit to Kennedys Pet Farm. Lots of indoor play areas on a wet day. All the staff were lovely. Will be back.

Stayed in our campervan in a car park just up the road. Lovely atmosphere. Great combination for tasty pizza and lovely beers. Would recommend and will return again.

Great place with amazing pizzas and fabulous craft beers. Definitely worth visiting while in Killarney

Beer is all very solid, I particularly liked the full circle IPA and Casey Brothers stout. Food served is limited to pizza as of 10/3/23. We ordered the spicy Italian and it was spicy and Italian. Pizza is your typical thin crust pizza you find around here. It was good. Staff is friendly and attentive. We were seated quickly and food made it out quick to the table. I would recommend to anyone wanting to escape standard irish fare for a good pint.

Best beer in Ireland. Brewery serves great pizza as well. Staff: The girl in the grey t-shirt and brown hair made us feel very welcome and was very friendly and professional. We'll be back!

They’ve tasty pizzas baked with wood fire and decent craft beers. Recommended. (It would be great if they change the color of the light from blue though :) )

Nice place but overpriced. Seriously, €16 for an A4 size pizza? And we have asked to substitute two ingredients with another two which they had, and they have substituted one fine, but charged extra for the other one, which we didn't know until seeing the receipt. On the brighter side, the place got an atmosphere, with all the vats exposed. But for a dinner I would go some place else.

This is a nice place. I only stayed for beer (so cannot comment on the pizzas ... another time) but the stout was good and the staff friendly, but a little over attentive. For me, the music was too loud at 16.30, but others might like that. The fact that dogs are permitted will bring me back.

A proper taproom, with the brewing vats lined up against one of the walls. Pizzas are very tasty, but more of a flatbread style than a puffy Neapolitan style, and my spicy pizza paired nicely with a glass of their IPA. Dog friendly inside and outside, and my dog got given her own bowl of water by the very friendly staff.

One of the best spots in Ireland for Neapolitan-style, thin crust, wood fired pizza. Lots of tasty options from various cultures. They also serve their own Killarney craft beers on tap to match any taste: blonde, lager, red ale, IPA, and stout plus seasonals. High table seating on bar stools inside and outside on a covered deck.

The Killarney Brewing Company location does not have any parking, so all patrons must walk to the location in order to eat. There is no warning on the website, so visitors from out of town find out the hard way. One star down. We arrived a little past 6:00, and easily found an open table downstairs. It took a couple of minutes, but we were waited on by a polite young man who took our drink and pizza order. The drinks came within a couple of minutes. My stout was excellent. Since the place wasn't too busy, we received our pizza order in about 10 minutes. The pizza itself was average at best. The Margherita was a disguised cheese pizza. Definitely not worth 12 Euros. The Mediterranean said it had artichokes, but there were only three tiny pieces. The olives were thrown on so that part of the pizza didn't have any. Not worth the 14 Euros. Overall, it's not worth the walking trouble and price. Get a frozen pizza and your favorite brew.

Tough hike to the summit via Devil’s Ladder. It took us 2 hours and 15 minutes to reach the top. It was dry, but we had cloud cover. While we didn’t get a view, it was a challenging and enjoyable hike. Recommend hiking boots and layers.

Wonderful weather and such beautiful views. Climbed via Brother O'Sheas gully which was definitely a climb, but was exhilarating and relatively quiet. We were accompanied by local experienced walkers who knew the route. Back via devil's ladder which was a means to an end!

Absolutely the best mountain out of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. Tough in parts but so worth the climb, views were insane!!! We had great weather, bit windy but sunny which was great. Its a bit tricky to locate the path in parts but just go with your instincts.

Super super nice hike. A lot of people it's a decently tough walk, but absolutely doable for anyone with shoes in good weather!

Such an amazing experience! If you love hiking and like being challenged by some steep climbing with the reward of beautiful views on the mountain top, then you don't want to miss out on this hike! Don't underestimate this climb, it's a climb of more than 1000m and also on loose, rocky terrain. Even when you're very fit it can take you at least 4 hours going up and down the mountain. Be well prepared with good hiking boots, a backpack with food, drinks and a first aid kit, protective clothes for windy and rainy weather as you're fully exposed to the weather and there's no shelter.

Great climb with excellent views at various points, even if the top is foggy. Good kit required, would be unsafe if weather is particularly unkind. Devil's ladder requires a decent level of fitness, and care coming down to not dislodge rocks. You'll feel your knees after!

Wonderful hike. From the car park at Cronin's Yard to the Devils ladder then to the summit and back measured 8.5 miles with about 3,100 feet of gain. Most of that gained over 1.5 miles starting at the devils ladder to the summit. It was much more challenging than I anticipated but was still very doable. We had 6 people in our group ranging from 14 to 44. Two of them stopped at the top of the Devils ladder. The rest of us made the summit. Our total trip time was 4 hrs 15 minutes. We had a clear day for the hike and great temperatures. Highly recommend if you enjoy hiking.

It took us 3hrs to get to the summit. We parked at Cronins Yard. We took the zig zag route up and then the devil's ladder down. 2.5hrs from the top back to the car. Views right from the start were unbelievable

Amazing hike on a perfectly clear day. You could see for miles and miles from the top. Lucked out because this was one of the most picturesque days I have seen in Ireland. Logistics about the hike: there is a car park at base that costs €2. There are bathrooms and a little cafe. Once you start hiking you are in for the long haul. It’s at least a mile to the foot of the mountains (aka Devil’s Ladder). I wasn’t measuring, but it felt quick on the way in, but much longer than I remember on the way out. Devil’s Ladder earns its name. It can be treacherous, but never too scary. Just take it slow and pay attention to each step. Once you make it up Devil’s Ladder, there are some stunning views, and at least another 45-60 mins up to the top. It is less steep than Devil’s Ladder though. The views on this particular day were amazing. There is plenty of flat ground at the top to chill and take in the accomplishment. For the descent, you can go down Devil’s Ladder, or up another peak and down a different path. I did the latter and it took equal the time as those going down the ladder, but included more steps. Less mental strain though as it is less treacherous. Again, beware the walk back to the car park. It is long after you’ve hiked up and down a mountain! Either way, highly recommend for intermediate hikers seeking a view on a clear day!

The hike is challenging, but reaching the summit is well worth the effort. The view from the top is absolutely breathtaking - a scene that truly needs to be experienced to be believed (on a sunny day 😄)...

Our expedition to Carrauntoohil, the highest mountain in Ireland, was nothing short of epic, serving as a breathtaking backdrop for scenes in the upcoming Irish film “The Cathach of FIONNÁN”. Embarking on the arduous 6-hour trail up the Devil's Ladder, we found ourselves immersed in a world of rugged beauty and untamed wilderness. As we ascended the winding path, each step brought us closer to the towering peak of Carrauntoohil. The landscape unfolded before us in a stunning tapestry of craggy cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and verdant valleys, painting a picture of raw natural splendour. The Devil's Ladder itself presented a formidable challenge, with its steep incline and treacherous terrain demanding both physical endurance and mental fortitude. Yet, as we pressed on, the sense of accomplishment grew with every passing meter, fuelled by the awe-inspiring scenery that surrounded us. Reaching the summit of Carrauntoohil was a moment of triumph, as we stood atop Ireland's highest peak and gazed out at the world below. The panoramic views stretched as far as the eye could see, a breathtaking vista that seemed to stretch on for eternity. For the filmmakers, Carrauntoohil provided an unparalleled canvas on which to weave their tale. From the rugged slopes to the sweeping vistas, every aspect of this majestic mountain served to enhance the drama and intensity of the scenes being captured. Our journey to Carrauntoohil was a true adventure, filled with moments of challenge, beauty, and triumph. As we descended back down the Devil's Ladder, we carried with us memories that will last a lifetime, and an even deeper appreciation for the natural wonders of Ireland's wild landscapes.

We did the hike going around the back first (past Hag’s Tooth) which is the reverse of what most people were doing. This made the ascent really steep, but we wouldn’t have recommended going back down that way. One tip is to check the weather before you go as the hike can take up to 6 hours round trip and the weather will change quickly. We got to the summit as the weather started to turn and passed a lot of people still going up on our way back down. It started raining and that made the last 2 hours quite tough as we descended in a waterfall. Otherwise the hike was one of the best in Ireland and well worth it!

Popular moderately difficult hike to Irelands highest peak at 1038 meters is well worth the views and experience of reaching the summit. The day we went up was overcast so didn't get much views but from some locals we met only about 20 days a year are clear at the summit so foggy overcast is quite common. We went up the Devils ladder witch was the most direct route up to the top. Starting point and parking can be found at Cronin's Yard and can park all day for $2.00 Euro. this is a popular hiking trail amongst locals and tourists and is frequently traveled. We took took approximately 7 hours up and back including time spent at the summit and traveled about 15km taking our time.
