Salamanca University is a treasure trove of history and academia. The ancient lecture halls and ornate architecture transport you to another era. Walking through its historic corridors, I couldn't help but feel a sense of scholarly inspiration. The charming courtyards and vibrant student life added a delightful modern twist to this living piece of history. There is a 5 euro entrance fee gor student (don’t remember for the rest) but I have to say didn’t expect this nonsense payment! Try to find the frog in the facade otherwise you wont succeed in your exams 🤭

May 2023 We went for a walk around of this university with a tour guide. An amazing beautiful, old architectural wonder. The population of Salamanca is 170,000 and there are 30,000 students. Salamanca is the home of learning Spanish, and there are also many private schools. This is the oldest and continually operating university in Spain.

It's beautiful and very old, yes, but it's not exactly what I think of when I hear tourist attraction. It was a very brief sight to see, at it's exactly what you'd expect a university to be...just old. Not saying it was bad, it's just not something I'd recommended to a friend to spend their time on.

Some may say that this university is overpriced for 10 Euro. In my opinion, it is totally worth the price. Where else can I find such a beautiful medieval university which is so well preserved? As there was a shower on that day, tourists were scarce so we could enjoy the campus as much as we want. With the audioguide, you can walk along different areas of the university and check out its function hundreds of years ago. Imagining how students listening to the lectures in the wooden built lecture hall (without the powerpoints and speakers) and the inauguration ceremony in the hall is itself a breathtaking experience. The 'finding the frog' game suggested by the university also gave us a lot of fun as we did spend considerable amount of time searching them on the incredibly complicated sculpture at the entrance. And the joy of finding it (in the answer sheet of the university shop) makes it more delightful. Their university shop sells the real deal with delicate laser cut cards and addictive alphabet stamps based on their canon and harry porter like leather bags, computer cases and stationery.

A very unique place with a nice atmosphere. The collection is interesting and the coffee shop is a nice place to rest. Very stylish.

The place wasn't free and after I asked for the ticket price I decided not to enter the tour, then I walked away and glanced at the counter to see if there were postcards or something like that, and suddenly the staff said that I wasn't allowed to stand around, but the fact that there weren't too many ticket buyers, and that the entrance wasn't crowded. I assume the reason why you can't photograph inside is because you'll see it's just not worth going inside. A lovely collection of art deco / art nouveau and couriosities (creepy dolls) in a beautiful period building. The cafe in the back is great as is the gift shop. You don't need more than half an hour here so easily combined with a trip to the cathedral.

Lovely art nouveau museum with stunning stained glass features throughout. Not sure if it's an absolute must-see in Salamanca, but I enjoyed it on the frigid, rainy day that I had in town. The cafe is also fantastic - the decor and the stained glass is really transporting and I very much enjoyed reading my book with a cafe con leche in the space.

It's a decent museum of art nouveau trinkets and dodads. Of you're into your Grandmas knick-knacks, this is the place for you. I wanted more architecture but it's fairly basic. The cafe is is stinking hot as its all beautiful glass but no aircon.

This cathedral is really fun to see. It's beautiful and we were lucky enough to hear someone practicing on the pipe organ. You can get your steps in at the same time. No need to work out after. Be ready for climbing some big steps. I had to crawl up a few because they are very tall. I would highly recommend. We went in March so there was no waiting and only 4 other people were there at the same time. I am not sure I would enjoy it as much while it's crowded in summertime.

We enjoyed the experience as you walk from the new cathedral into the old. QR codes help guide you around. You may notice that there are people walking around higher up in the new cathedral but there is a separate pay entrance outside for access only to this area.

Salamanca Cathedral is actually two cathedrals (the old and new) joined together. The new one is a truly magnificent and monumental cathedral with Baroque chapels, an incredible choir loft. The blue and gold ceilings are a site to behold. The older one includes invaluable wall murals, Gothic arches and Romanesque elements. The ticket also includes entrance to a cloister filled with ancient tombs and displays of relics. Entrance costs 10 euros and is worth it.

Beautiful cathedral- very unique and well preserved/ restored. The organ loft, choir, and chapels are very nice to visit. Some of the walls even still have paint. We spent 3 hours here. There was no wait to enter and the ticket price was inclusive of both cathedrals.

This whole town is a movie set (quite literally: they were shooting one as we walked though the gran via!) and such a little jewel, a mere two hours from Madrid! The cathedral is monumental and magical, but keep your eyes up as you walk around it and around the city, everything is breathtaking!

Exploring Salamanca Cathedral was like stepping into a medieval masterpiece. The awe-inspiring blend of Gothic and Romanesque styles left me spellbound. Each chapel told a story, and the unexpected astronaut carving added a delightful touch of whimsy.

The 10 euro fee covers entrance to the new cathedral, the old cathedral, and the cloister. If you are interested in medieval art, the old cathedral has some of the nicest examples I have ever seen. There are so many full color effigies wearing elaborate designs painted on and in keeping with 13-15th c. fashion. The wall paint looks phenomenal.

Better than expected area of historical sites. The sandstone colored buildings are awesome. Several of the sites are paid access while others are based upon access level. For example, when asked access, we said the stairs to balconies above building and we're allowed for free. Sometimes it pays to ask as we didn't care about viewing art and would rather see the area from higher elevation. The sites also have stores and restaurants within the area streets and the best parking, if you luck out, is right in front of the Roman bridge. 😎

Not just another tower with views over the city. The 4 euro's entrance fee is well worth it to ascent the tower of the old cathedral and walk around the new cathedral halfway. The views are well- signed and the stairs are mostly only up or down. The tower itself has a traffic light. Beware of the ringing of the bells when you're up in the tower. Tip: visit this tower first before deciding to visit the cathedral. The views from inside the cathedral were good enough for us.

Amazing experience, this was definitely the highlight of Salamanca cathedral and well worth an additional admission. Climbing the tower of the Catholic university is also great, but seeing the cathedral from high up inside gives you an amazing perspective of the architecture. Just beware the bells are really loud if you're in the bell tower when they go off.

Best way to view both the cathedral and Salamanca. Great first tourist attraction. Brilliant way to see the rooftops and the ceilings of the cathedral as the walkways both go up and around the tower that you enter and include a short walkway around the upper parts of the cathedral interior. The temple is a masterpiece BUT about the guided tour, nowhere on the site it is stated that the guided tour is only in Spanish, that it lasts 2 whole hours and that a good physical condition is required. It was not possible to choose the language of the tour and I was not given any information about it. Some of our group had to stay down while they had paid because they couldn't climb all those steps.Also we didn't all speak Spanish so some of us listened to Spanish non-stop for 2 hours without understanding anything. Great location, perfect lights and simulations but HUGE flaws on the site.

The Roman Bridge crosses the Tormes River and is believed to have been originally constructed around 89 AD during the reign of Emperor Trajan. What you find is a stone bridge with 26 semi-circle arches, it stretches 176 metres in length and is around 3.5 metres wide. If you walk the bridge, you will find rewarding views of the city when approaching from the south.

Yes, truly peaceful. A bit of heaven. However, the experienced was marred by two minor complaints. Firstly, there were no explanations of the exhibits in English. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, the Church was closed to the public. As a Catholic priest, I was somewhat taken aback by this.

Less busy and more peaceful than the cathedral, we loved it here and whilst we're not religious we appreciated the message of the Augustinians and that they have done good works all over the world. Architectural and educational!

This is a small and charming garden located just to the southeast of Salamanca Cathedral. You enter through a brick wall opening at the end of Calle Arcediano. Within there are manicured grounds and landscaped flowerbeds, a bust dedicated to La Celestina, fountain, benches and an elevated viewpoints of the Historic Centre as well as the Cathedral.

My favorite place in Salamanca. The beautiful scenery changes every single day. Quite a bit of hidden corners for everyone to enjoy quiet and peaceful time in nature.

A good selection of cars and some bikes, both old, new and concept. There is even something for the racing fans. Staff were friendly and helpful. Be sure to buy the combined ticket for Casa Lis (BOGOF).

Amazing automotive museum the best I have visited. Well worth the visit and very impressive. Incredible history and all the cars are in incredible condition.

For those automobiles lovers is a great and fun experience, for child and grown ups, it takes quite some time to go all around, so be sure to arrive early at opening hours so you can contemplate all the vehicles and history they have

After 198 stairs you arrive to the top of the tower. The landscape is great and you can see all the city because you have a 360° view in several wonderful windows. The visit to the tower have a price of 3.75€ and have a timetable. Here you can visit the another monument the church but you need pay another ticket. Some hours they have guided visits too.

30 minute tower visit for awesome views, and a 30 minute tour (in Spanish), a beautiful boroque building and must see in Salamanca.

We asked to visit to wich we got this answer by the entrance clerk: "Only with guy. Guy only speak spanish". Very unfriendly clerk. Did not visit.

My favourite place in all of what is such a beautiful Old Town.It's only 3.75€ to climb up to the two towers with their bells which you are not allowed to touch! You can appreciate the Old Town and the richness of its heritage as well as the city of Salamanca. A must do visit while in Salamanca and even better than the Cathedral Towers.

Unparalleled views of all of Salamanca from the top of the tower. I counted 152(?) steps to the main floor of the tower. Use the widows walk to cross the outside of the structure to the actual bell tower. If you've still got the energy, use the cylindrical stairs to climb to the bells themselves! Quite a rush to be up so high! 3.60€ fee is charged to see the tower. They have a separate fee for other parts of the building which I had no time to see. But hey, you came a long way, don't miss out if at all possible!

Excellent place for a 360 degree view of Salamanca

Disappointingly short visit The building itself can only be visited under a guided visit. Never experienced such a "quickie". What's the point in rushing from place to place, avoiding key places (such as the sacristy) and not allowing visitors to wander freely on their own?

Our 2019 Spain travel was filled with adventure, great food & wine and history. The College of the Holy Spirit was our next stop, encountering the first ‘rude’ person in Spain -a female tour guide- as the tour was only provided in Spanish –even though there were 6 English speakers in the group- and when I volunteered to translate, the woman tour guide told me that would interfere with her thinking process. Since there was only two people who spoke Spanish and all others were Irish, British and Americans, we stayed back a bit and I tried to tell them what was going on. The building works of this impressive monument started in 1617, taking 150 years to be completed. The college was founded by Kings Phillip III and his wife Margaret of Austria, in order to provide a place for the training of Jesuit novices, who might go on mission to evangelize the four corners of the world. Queen Margaret took a very personal interest in founding a university, college for the Jesuits in Salamanca, due to the considerable academic prestige of this city. However, before the building was finished, the Pragmatic Sanction of King Charles III banished the Society of Jesus from Spain in 1767, and subsequently the building was divided into 4 different spaces. The Church and sacristy, set apart from the rest of the building, were entrusted to the clergy of the Real Clerics of San Marcos, a royal school, which was never set up due to the opposition from the local bishop D. Felipe Beltran, the College of Noble Irishmen or seminary for the Irish, as well as the local diocesan seminary of Salamanca. While rather interesting, tour is only given in Spanish and after that experience, if we would have known, we would have told her to remain silent and we would have simply followed her to see the treasures found in this building.

Salamanca university is a gorgeous number of buildings that dominate the city landscape along with the cathedral. Well worth paying the 4 euro admission.

My excitement for UPS is enormous.The campus, the tranquility to study has nonparallel.

Absolutely beautiful. Try to get in early enough to avoid crowds to appreciate its real serenity. Have to wonder what nuns made of all the writhing forms represented by stone carvings.

Breathtaking sculptures in the first floor arcades of the beautifully gardened claustro, with great views to the catedral n clerecia. A must!

The 10 euro ticket is absolutely robbery. There is barely worth 50cents
