Bit of a queue to get into car park due overflow field too wet to use. No problem though. Beautiful light draped trees leading to house. Stunning house with plenty of rooms open, many with great Christmas decorations. Busy but pleasant cafe, no problem getting a table. Many paths around the parkland. Well recommended.
This is such a beautiful National Trust house. It's stunning inside and the views are also magnificent.
If you watch any of the films that filmed at the house, you will even enjoy it more.
And all volunteering staff was amazing, so patient and friendly. I highly recommend this venue!
Don't miss the shell room. It's breathtaking!
Parking can be tricky on nice day but worth the wait!
A beautiful, stately home with awesome grounds that provide ample grounds for spending an entire day, especially when the weather is nice. There are so many choices of picnic spots, each with a unique view. The cafeteria serves decent food at a modest price. Access to the main house may be a little difficult for those in wheelchairs although the trust may have made provisions that I didn't notice.
Children of all ages will have a great time here as it's perfect for a family day out.
Excellent day out. Unfortunately it was raining when we visited but did little to taint the overall experience of the day. The volunteer guides dotted around the house were knowledgeable and very friendly. The cafe was very good too. We will visit again soon - this time when the sun is out!
So grateful for our National Trust memberships. Another lovely place to visit and once again fantastic volunteers on hand with founts of knowledge. The grounds are impeccably kept and there are 4 walks ranging from 20 mins to 2 hours through fields and woodland. Also don't be put off by the fairly plain exterior, inside the house is stunning. We loved it.
It's a lovely country estate. Ideal for dog walkers, families or for anyone who just want to go for a nice woodland walk or look around in the house which appeared on many movies including Downtown Abbey.
The Christmas decoration in the house is also very lovely during the festive season. Weekends can be busy at the car park. The earlier you could go is the best. (AM)
Stunning building and gardens. Several major movies have been filmed here and well deserved. Interior rooms are beautifully decorated and the enthusiastic staff are more than happy to help and answer questions.
A beautiful park and palace with incredibly helpful guides in every room, where you can get a huge amount of knowledge about what happened in the palace and when. The beautifully preserved rooms and conservation of historical artifacts, along with Lady Charlotte's breathtaking shell collection, are simply stunning. It's amazing how easy it once was to acquire and transport such shells without any problem. Wonderful views and delightful green landscapes offer the opportunity for endless walks with your dog. On-site facilities include toilets, a café, and a souvenir shop. It's a welcoming place with lots of interesting information and beautiful decorations.
Recently visited this hidden gem with friends - honestly, we wanted to have a picnic somewhere nice, halfway between the two houses and Basildon Park popped up on the map 🗺
Realised, when we arrived at the house, that multiple films and TV series have been filmed here 🎥
The house is magnificent, the grounds are beautiful and if you are as lucky as we were; it’s the perfect spot for a picnic - would definitely visit again.
I’ve given a 4* rating, only because I felt £15.00 per person is quite steep - although I’m hoping we can visit the national parks regularly, so we may invest in a couple of memberships.
Taking the exit from the M4, I followed a couple of signs to the car park entrance, as maps takes you to another entrance. Fortunately I found a spot in the overflow car park as the main car park was busy.
The ticket office, shop and toilets are located at the start. Before you take a brief uphill walk to the tea room and main house. Lots of space in the tea room with indoor and outdoor seating. There is also an interesting murial painted around the inside seating area.
Inside the house there is a room with extravagant wall paper depicting scenes from India.
There is a small garden at the rear of the house with a wide variety of plants.
I took the long boundary walk which lasted approximately 55minutes at a fairly moderate pace. You pass through a cow field at the start and some children's play areas towards the end. Lots of open space and places to walk/explore. Didn't feel particularly busy at any point.
Beautiful house and grounds with some nice walks. The house has been carefully and tastefully restored after falling into disrepair. Excellent staff and volunteers with great knowledge. Very nice cafe/restaurant area also with courtyard seating. Would recommend.

Well maintained grounds and very friendly staff. The staff in the house were VERY chatty, I don’t mind usually but it took much too long to actually get to look around because they were talking for so long. Lots to see and do, and the Tea Room is lovely, a nice value for an afternoon tea and scone. Overall a great day out.
Lovely place to visit especially during Spring!
Staff were very knowledgeable in all the rooms in the house and we enjoyed a cheese scone and cake in the tea room at the end.
We had a nice walk around the garden and will return at some point to do the full grounds as we are National Trust Members!
Magnificent country Manor, with some great art.
Great place to walk in the gardens, around the estate, or have a picnic on the lawn. Lots of seats around where you can just sit and take in the amazing views. The tea rooms, with their tropical decor, are large with plenty of seating, and a separate dog friendly area. Staff are all friendly and helpful.
Utterly charming. We visited at my wife’s insistence even though it was more than an hour away. We have a rescue Beagle with damaged paws who needs soft flat grassland to walk on. From the moment we arrived we were charmed with the lovely atmosphere. Wonderful car park lady attendant, very helpful young well spoken lady on ticketing and friendly staff at the coffee shop and gift shops. A short walk from the car park up to the house with excellent far reaching views across the Thames valley. Well worth going out of your way for. Recommended.
Wonderful day out. Great easy walks in the grounds. T room is a bit busy but the house is beautiful and the grounds are wonderful. Away from the main area on the long walk we had the place to ourselves.
Another NT house , lots to see and discuss. Large parklands to explore and neat well prepared lawns side and rear. Large 2 roomed cafe , 1 of which interestingly decorated in Thai style. Think there's also a lake at bottom of hill but rain prevented exploration.
Beautiful grounds and a lovely house. The room decorated with sea shells is especially worth having a look. The cafe is good.
Basildon Park is an incredible sight to see. As you enter the car park you are greeted by the friendly staff who explain the site and how to get to the house. There are sufficient amenities, toilets, a small shop prior to going to the house and some outside seating. You walk to the house through the quiet and tranquil woodlands, and as you walk round to the left you are greeted by the enormous house. The house is kept in excellent condition. You walk up some stairs for the entrance, where you're greeted by some knowledgeable staff. You are guided through the different rooms and each room has a guide to give you interesting little tid bits of information. The tea room has an array of sandwiches and hot food. We had jacket potatoes with cheese and beans, which were both really tasty and the coleslaw was incredible. We then went round back to enjoy the gardens and nature and it really does just make you feel calm and relaxed. The full experience for us took around 2 hours 30minutes. It could take longer or it could be shorter. Adult entry is £16 if you're not a National trust member. The Jacket potatoes were £7-9. A bottle of water was £3.30. The sausage roll was £4.70. There is a kids option of £5 for 5 items. So if you are a big family and eating there you may find a big bill. I highly recommend visiting especially when flowers are in full bloom.

We had a wonderful visit to Basildon Park. It’s a beautiful house with vast grounds to explore including short grass, easy access areas and trickier wooden terrain. There is a golf cart transport service if you find the slope up through the beautifully lit wooded path tricky to navigate beyond the free car park that has ample spaces. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. There is a cafe and shop on site and pleasant toilet facilities and lots of options for walks. Well worth a visit.
Massive 400 acres estate with a beautifully restored house and well maintained garden. Lots of walking trail. They have tables and benches where you can enjoy a family picnic. There is also a children's playground. If the main car park is full, they have an overflow car park. They have a nice cafe with painted walls. Staff were all lovely and pleasant. When you have time, chat with them and listen to the amazing stories. The room with the silk wall is quite interesting. I initially thought it was wallpaper.

Really impressed, so much to see and do, not just for children but adults too!
All well maintained, looked after and clean.
Animals all seemed happy and had lots of space (I am not an expert of course just the view of a normal person). Information on all the animals easy to understand and pictures too for the little people.
Play areas are fantastic, for all ages.
Toilets clean and easy to access.
Absolutely stunning park. The floral and fauna were both spectacular. The staff on entry were really polite and friendly. My toddler loved the little train ride. The site has a few lovely eateries and picnic areas. I especially loved the Japanese Garden and the beautiful parrots. Wil definitely visit again soon.
Great day out on a very warm sunny day in this laid back park. Staff were very friendly and helpful, it was a special promotion day and was very busy. Parking was free, entrance was quick despite the high attendance. The park is big with a giant bouncing pillow, large well maintained paddling pool, plenty of play parks, a great mini train ride at no extra cost and a variety of animals dotted around well maintained and interesting grounds.
Clean and well maintained toilet facilities, although the restaurant is closed for refurbishment, there was a fast food and coffee/ drinks facility near the paddling pool, with ample picnic tables and shady nooks all over the park.
What an amazing place!! Would have been 5 stars of there was a few more "zoo" animals, but I can't fault the place!! Great selection of animals, lots for the little ones to do and explore. Would definitely recommend and would definitely go back!!
A park like no other! Enjoyable for all ages and food prices in all ranges. The architecture and grounds are a thing of beauty to admire not to mention the animals and the roaming peacock! It's a day worthy experience and worth every penny of it's ticket price. Entirely wheelchair accessible with lovely staff and tidbits of information on hand.

We love it here. Such a great space for all ages. Lots to see and do. Bit pricey for food/ice cream/coffee but to be expected. My daughter and I had a great time for her last preschool outing before school.
Great place to go with the kids. There is a train ride, a large bouncy dome, plenty of animals, nice food, large play area with swings and slide and a small soft play probably aimed for under 5's. My only gripe is the men's toilets weren't great. No lock on one and a huge gap in the other. Not great, especially when you have a medical condition. Old hand dryers as well. Needs improving!
Fanatic day out for all the family.
The animal experiences are good and not excessively priced like at some other zoos I could mention (you do have to book online before visiting though).
There is a splash pool and play equipment which is great for breaking up the day. Don't forget a towel!
Fabulous wildlife park with a good variety of animals, most of which can be seen up close. Knowledgeable and helpful keepers happy to answer questions.
The animals are spread out across the park so it makes for a nice walk with the animals interspersed. Mature Japanese style garden is pleasant to sit in for lunch.
Some large playgrounds are a welcome distraction for children along with a large paddling pool area which is available over the summer.
Lovely day out! I went with a group of friends, and we had a blast seeing the animals. Fair enough price with optional donation. The park is clean, and spacious enough that you don't end up bottlenecking or crowding too much. There's a variety of animals, and talks throughout the day. It seems they're doing their best as far as enrichment and welfare are concerned too which is nice to see. Seemed like good facilities for children, too!
The only downside was our experience with food, which we queued for in the cafe (at 2pm because we were hoping to miss the rush) for an hour. They were show, ran out of food, we're understaffed and seemed generally a bit panicked - it was a bank holiday so perhaps they hadn't expected so many people, somehow? Food was decent enough, pizza was far more worth the price than what else was on offer.
All in all a good day out for all ages!

Really nice attraction with plenty of animals. Pleasant large grounds with ponds and lakes. Nice cafe with friendly and helpful staff. Theirs also a railway that takes you along and around which is good and gives another opportunity to see the wildlife at the back of the park. We did the meerkat encounter which was good value. The young guy that did it was really good 👍 👍

Our second visit, which we enjoyed as much as the first. Staff were friendly and welcoming, a credit to the park.
They have a small train which does a short tour of the park. Excellent for children of all ages (and grown ups as well if I'm honest). It's included in the admission fee which is nice.
Lots of animals to see (otters, birds, reptiles, zebra etc etc). There are also lots of active things for kids in the way climbing frames, bouncy castle thing (there's no point me describing it you have to see it) and lots more.
There's a garden section which is nice to stroll through with lots of flowers and decorations.
Another thing to mention is the very competitively priced annual membership. £75 for adults and £60 for children is not too expensive. Honestly I'm considering signing myself my wife and my son for it.
Either way an excellent location with lots to see and do. Well done Beale park 👍
Visited on a very wet and rainy midweek day☔️, but still had a great time. Not quite as many animals as we expected, but they all look in great condition, well looked after and we were impressed with the size of the enclosures. Had a burger for lunch in their on-site cafe, which was also great. Primarily visited for the Meet the Capybara and Tapir experience, which was awesome: Neville the Tapir loves a tummy tickle and we fell in love with Sharron and Gary the Capybara’s.
100% recommend doing the tapir and capybara feeding experience. I had the best time! I could have stayed in the Tapir enclosure all day. The tapir absolutely loved a scratch. The Capybara were also a good experience but they definitely wanted the food more than a smooth, which is fine. Loved seeing them up close. Milo led us on the experience and was very knowledgeable. The rest of the park was fun. Lots of interesting animals to see. We also rode on the train which was interesting. Some animals - like the wallaby are better seen from the train as the train went right past their enclosure.
Beautiful wildlife park in Berkshire just off the M4. Plenty of parking available and wheelchair access is there too. The park is well maintained, plenty of animals and birds to see and learn of their species. A lot of play area for the kids, a lot of seating available too. Definitely a spot of wildlife photographers to spend a day (come with an extra battery). I’d highly recommend visiting.

Been at this station after long time. It’s totally changed in new modern futuristic style station. Wide long platforms, escalators security, staff everywhere. Clean n tidy station. Many eating n drinking places around. Train service is good. Even many major companies r serving this station include GWR, Cross Country etc. shopping centre not far from station. I had a good service from this station.
Massive station, easy to navigate and trains running at least every 5 minuets to the London terminals. Free WiFi, toilets and waiting rooms. Trains also go to Bristol, Cardiff, Gloucester, Worcester, Plymouth, Manchester, Southampton and Bournemouth. Saw my first Elizabeth line train here

Lovely train station and the toilets are regularly open,free WiFi, play area, refreshments. I recommend this for trainspotting like i did. Best train station ever!
Reading train station is a large station with a lot of facilities, shops, fast food outlets, toilets, etc. but also it's open and cavernous, so it can feel very cold in winter. Particularly if you end up stranded here through a combination of rail strikes and line damage as I did.
A great station with a large number of platforms. There are a number of cafes and food shops on both sides of the barriers and a wide range of destinations can be reached from this station.
I just wanted to thank the station manager Alan and his team for helping us out on Saturday night. Our train from paddington was delayed which meant we missed our onward connection to Newbury .. he kindly arranged for a taxi to take us there and while we waited we had a security man to assist us .. we were very impressed with the service.. I hope that Alan and his team see this message
Great station and easy to navigate. Would be great if they had phone charging points or equipped their staff with a few chargers in case of emergencies. I was nearly stuck with no way out of the station on my inbound since my phone battery died which my ticket was on. My fault though, but the staff told me the only option was to buy another ticket and refund. Luckily the kind lady at the pumpkin cafe could help me charge for a minute or 2.
Modern, clean and well organized railway station at a very central location. The station itself is ample and easy to navigate. The architecture is amazing! You can ask for help the staff are are really knowledgable and very helpful
Large train station with all the amenities you would expect. Loads of shops both in and out of the barriers. Leave plenty of time as there is alot of platforms and some are located a fair walk away. Please remember that for changing trains aswell.

It is a great railway, station nice and clean, fully step free between platfomr and street via lifts to the overbridge. It gets train services from Cross County, Elizabeth Line, Great Western Railway and South Western Railway.
This is a massive station, it is well kept and always clean.
The trains are very frequent and you can go almost anywhere which is helped by the Elizabeth Line.
Staff Information boards are on each platform which can be helpful to see where on the line your train is. If there is a train on a platform there are almost certainly a member of staff who will help and in my experience they have always been very friendly.
If you are hungry there are shops on the overpass which can be good for a quick breakfast on the way to work.
When there was a fire at Maidenhead station and the station was hectic (understandable) the station staff were out in force at the information points keeping passengers updated.
The guy checking the tickets on the long term parking side exit of the station today 18:30 is really rude. Please hire decent people or train people to be polite and sociable. The train was 1h30m late. Let’s make the environment at least decent. Thank you
Stopped here a few times for connecting trains and really liked this station. It’s not too crowded, could always find a staff member to ask questions and they were very helpful. The station also have plenty of toilets and the one I went to was clean. Lots of food outlets as well, and none of them crowded, easy to get food for the road without having to line up for ages. Starbucks coffee staff were also very friendly, and the tables were clean, which can be unusual on a train station, while I was having my coffee waiting for train connection, I noticed the staff always kept the tables clean, removing the rubbish and wiping everything. Always happy to stop here for connections.
The station is massive and well maintained with many connecting trains to nearby cities through The Elizabeth line and GWR lines.
Clean and tidy station with lots of shops inside, toilets well maintained, charging points, helpdesk etc.
Very modern and decent station, been using it for 6/7 years. However a couple of the toilets/waiting areas were re-converted to little shops or coffee places over last few years... Shops are quite expensive tbh.
Never underestimate how big this place is and how long it can take to get from one platfrom to another.

Excellent fun for the family. Gigantic dinosaur walking puppet shows, bumper cars (without the bumping), water play, walks, crazy golf and on and on.
Cafés, toilets, rubbish bins plenty. Food on offer was good, healthy and varied.
Not too busy in school holidays (went on a Saturday) and very pleasant crowd.
A nice park for kids to enjoy and adults to relax. There is jumping pillow, train ride(we have to pay £1 per person which is not included in the ticket), paid car ride for kids, and variety of play areas. A small Dinosaur park with different species. My kid really loved the dinosaur park. There is also splash pool(only for kids), farm animals (you can feed them, which you can buy at the ticket center). We liked the story telling and the dance show as well (they happen only in some particular timings as mentioned at the entrance). Totally, a good place to visit. You won't be disappointed.
One of the beautiful country parks I have seen. The tickets seems for me a bit expensive, but there’s a lot of things to do for kids of all ages.

I went there for a Halloween weekend trip... A very nice theme park for kids , lots of fun filled play areas and activities for kids... they have a animal farm with a petting area , a small lake for fishing as well... a nice little shop to buy toys and nice cafe too...
It was a fun filled event.
They have plenty of parking spaces too.
I'm definitely not going to disrespect this place, it's been a location that we and a group friends decided to get-together once a year as we're from different areas of England and its a central point and have been doing so for over a decade. For the first time this year, we actually got off our backsides from our chairs and walked the grounds and around the lake.
Its a beautiful location with plenty of things for families to occupy themselves. An animal area, train rides and play areas. The one thats been taken out over the years is the boats that we would have loved to have spent some time on as a group.
Fantastic, such a great display and entertaining venue, for both adults and children. Spectacular with hot and cold food the hot chocolate with rolo is a must. Its an hour and a half walk around with activities you can join in with. The storey boards and accomplishment voice makes you dream of being in Neverland. Big thank you to staff for an evening of pleasure. Go on have dome fun.
Amazing place to take kids, so much to do and see, well worth the money. The staff are amazing and bent over backwards to accommodate and help, they were so friendly and kind. Everything was so well looked after and clean and we loved it - we will definitely be back. Highly recommended!

It’s really expensive for what it is to get in but there is plenty to do and see. Sand pits for kids. Play area for kids. Also, a small scale farm that kids would enjoy too. The café is okay. Nice lake views and paths for walking. Multiple BBQ areas for a public barbecue. At least the entrance fee includes parking which is good. Parking could be better though. Some hidden spots. Then drive on and there are more. It’s dog friendly. Although pricey it’s totally worth it as a treat. A kids paradise though so if you don’t have kids then there are plenty of free lake view options not too far from this place.
Did work experience here for 2 weeks and was best work experience with animals I’ve done so far! Everyone there was lovely and eager to teach me new things and share their love for the animals and they were very patient with my learning difficulties.
It’s also a lovely place with a variety of animals, highly recommend a visit!

Love this place. Good for all ages although can be pricey. The farm is amazing and you can buy feed for the animals. You have to pay for train tokens and for the welly cars. Lots of outdoor play areas and 3 different cafes dotted about. The coffee is actually really nice too! Lunch food is pretty good, selection of hot and cold items. The kids lunchbox selection is really good and includes 6 items.
Came for Easter. Bit rainy but the toddler didn’t care. Lots to do, reasonably priced cafe, cute little train with lots of things to see on the way round. Only gripe was my burger bun wasn’t toasted so it just fell apart. Staff really friendly - all seemed to be local gap year kids so generally quite capable. Will return as some point for a camping trip I think in the summer.
Stayed at Wellington Country Park as a campsite in our campervan whilst visiting the area. Did not realise until we got there that the price paid included full access to the park, bonus! Campsite is brilliant, park is out of this world. Breakfast in the park main cafe was really good. Park staff really helpful. Early evening walks in the park are the best after all of the park visitors have gone home, like having a massive estate garden to meander around :-)

Con, it is quiet pricey. Pros, we took our 21 month old here, he loves animals and this was great. There were farm animals, mini play areas and multiple play areas around, hot and cold food, mini train, dinosaur park, soft play room, sensory room, and much more. Bring your buggy and bikes. Nice time out for the family.
Lots of play areas! We spent a whole day here and didn't get to every play area. My son really enjoyed himself. Only downside is the entrance fee as it's a bit expensive and you still have to pay extra for the train ride and quad bikes!
Lovely place for kids, but very pricey for a whole family day out. One train ride should be included in your park tickets in my opinion.
Staff were friendly and there was lots of choice of play parks for the kids, would struggle to stay more than a couple of hours though if it was bad weather.

Lovely museum and I liked how a staff member was at the entrance welcoming visitors and explaining what there was to see. Plenty about the town's history, the Victorian copy of the Bateaux Tapestry and a special exhibition about the town's football club. Free of charge, but professionally managed. Would recommend.
Good amount of information, bit random layout on the ground floor but interesting information. Not very big but just enough information and items on display to not be disappointed, or be overwhelmed. Nice staff. Toilets very clean. The Bayeux tapestry replica is amazing
We enjoyed a 'Victorian fossil Hunting's experience here. A brief chat about fossils, different types of fossils and the children were given some clay to press shapes in, before filling with plaster to recreate a realistic fossil!
We then had access to the remainder of the Muse and enjoyed learning throughout the space. Fun dress up opportunities and crafts available.
Very information on the medieval to more recent history of Reading and fun to explore. The Huntley and Palmers biscuit tin collection is definitely worth a browse as there are so many! Also includes some natural history in the form of taxidermy.

It's not a magnificent museum, but it does tell a good story about the history of Reading. A lot is about the abbey and its dramatic end a few hundred years ago. If you find it interesting then the ruins are still there to view, just a few minutes walk from the museum. Don't forget to take a look at the embroidered tapestry upstairs...quite impressive I must say.
Great museum saw something close to my heart Merrryweather fire brigade helmets plus got to see the Victorian replica of the bayeux tapestry sadly the area of reading is lacking parking facilities for disabled and normal car parking !
I visited the museum because I wanted to see the reproduction of the Bayeux tapestry and I was not disappointed. Aside from the no audio guide, the tapestry was a very very good reproduction. Reading is much nearer than Normandy from London so I would recommend this to anyone who wants to see the wonderful tapestry.
Wonderful little gem! Worth going to see the Bayeux replica (which itself is still quite amazing given the hard work the ladies put into it).
The only complaint (which is minimal so I didn’t knock anything off) is hopefully they can put more activities for small children. There was a child running around who was clearly too young to be interested in the museum, which is down to the parents really, but maybe if they had an activity area that might help? Just a suggestion. Still definitely worth going if you’re in Reading (and maybe have kids over 5 😉)
As someone who recently moved to Reading, I wanted to find out more about its history on a dreary January saturday. I was quite blown away by this local museum, I left feeling like I see Reading in a completely different light, and much more excited about living here than before, which in my opinion it’s exactly what a town museum should be like.
If your into history like I am, you’ll find yourself immersed in a pool of interesting facts and stories about the rise and fall of the Abbey, about how the town changed over generations. It was much more extensive than I expected, that is why I couldn’t even see it all in one go, but that is a personal preference when it comes to museums, as I like to spend more time than the usual visitor if there is something that I enjoy and am interested about.
Free entry donation box upon entry good day out for young children tapestry was amazing also has a lift for people who can't do the stairs if you park jn the oracle it's a 8 min walk next to the lovely tower good for those non expensive days out
It's a really wonderful museum. Personal highlights for me were the British Bayeux Tapestry gallery, a beautiful piece displayed equally as beautifully, and the Silchester Gallery. I was an archaeology student at Reading University and trained the Silchester Gallery from 2010-2013, and Gallery brought back some very fond memories.
An interesting local museum that includes information about the local area and also a replica of the Bayeux Tapestry. Some areas may be closed off of there is a school group visiting.

We didn’t manage to see all of it, but we thoroughly enjoyed the Bayeux tapestry, which is why we visited in the first place. The staff was very sweet with our children and they were helpful. If you’re going for the tapestry and you plan to see it properly, set aside at least an hour. We arrived 1.5 hours before closing time and had little time to see anything else. Entrance is free, there’s a lift inside (there are some stairs too, but I think they can be avoided). All information is in English. A small museum but worth visiting.

The Reading, UK museum is a fantastic place to explore if you're curious about history and local culture. It is located at the southeast corner of Blagrave and Volpy intersection. When I visited, it was under construction but signs directed you toward the entrance. As a new visitor, you'll find it full of interesting things to see and learn about. When you walk in, You are looking at an information counter. The museum is a multi-story affair to the left of the entrance. It was a friendly atmosphere and the staff was very friendly and willing to offer any help to guide you. The museum has a wide variety of exhibits, like ancient artifacts, artwork, and interactive displays. They make history come alive! The bottom floor had a section about the town's history. You can discover how Reading has changed over time, from its beginnings to the present day. It's like taking a journey through time!
The 2nd floor had a recreation of the Bayeux tapestry with an explanation that was fascinating. The upper floors have wonderful art pieces including one of the largest Roman Mosaics that I have ever seen intact from the area. In summary, the Reading, UK museum is a welcoming place where you can explore history, art, and culture. Whether you're a history buff or just curious, it's a great spot to visit and learn something new about this charming town. I highly recommend it. Enjoy your visit!

It represents the lost lives of the dead from a battle in the 1800's.
So sad to see, yet so beautiful.
This is a nice big area to walk around or meet your friends for lunch.

The Forbury Gardens are like an oasis at the edge of Reading town centre. A place to sit & enjoy the sunshine and flowers, with free concerts in the bandstand most Sundays in summer. Also provide access to the historic Reading Abbey Ruins. The gardens are also increasingly used as a venue for occasional weekend food festivals, etc.
Good to see the gardens looking so well looked after and so many people taking advantage of the cafeteria plenty of seating a band stand and beautiful flower beds

The Maiwand lion is an imposing monument to the 328 members of the Royal Berkshire Regiment who lost their lives in the battle of Maiwand in Afghanistan way back in 1880. The lion atop this huge block weighs around 80 times that of a real lion.

Nothing much to see here but it's good for walking and cycling. Will suggest visiting in the summer.
my expectations were different- i expected ruins of the town. there are really just defence walls, and ruins of gates, nothing else. the ruins were converted into pasture for sheep. such a shame. i took one video from the ancient ditch. the ditch is not marked.
Beautiful walk on a Sunday morning, listening to the bells ring out at the local church.
There are plenty of signs giving information about the Roman town, and what it would have looked at.
Apart from the amphitheatre and remains of the city walls and North Gate, there are no structures to see and there are no excavations currently happening, so expect lots of rolling green fields instead.
You can walk your dog along paths outside of livestock fields, but you will need to cross a road to get to the amphitheatre - which is great to stand in the middle of and imagine the events that must have happened there.
I parked at the North Gate car park and there was ample space at 9.30 when I parked and 10.30am when I returned.
Not much to see but amazing to think of the history of it all. Good for a walk but it's a long walk around! Not much shade except at the beginning with lined trees, so if it's hot be ready for it!
Car park is great and easy to find.
The church is gorgeous.
Amphitheatre unfortunately does not look much like one anymore but still pretty imposing and amazing to think how many people managed it managed to seat.
There are many animals along the walk and lovely views. Lots of sheep! Even saw a few Al pacas (I think!) which was surprising and fun.
Overall would recommend the visit but don't expect to see too much.
Apparently the West gate is the best preserved.
I will come back to this place for a walk. Nice and quiet, parking closes by 7 pm. But will explore this area more in the future. A good historic place.
Very pleasant walk - ampitheatre site impressive and identification of north and south gate and plenty of wall makes this a trip for the imagination - good areas of shade over the 2km if happens to be a really sunny day.
Nice place to walk around. Paths need a trimback, some are blocked. I don't know why they didn't leave the roman town open instead of covering it up for the fields to lay empty and over grown. Should be protected and on show not covered up with earth. In other places roman walls are like a museum art piece.
Fantastic place to visit! Steeped in history and well preserved, informative and great for walkers and dog walkers and taking your younger family to teach them about the Roman's it was a great experience. The Amphitheater was incredible you could feel the history there knowing it was for entertainment but very brutal for hundreds of years!
Nothing to see of the Roman town other than empty fields. The walk around the remains of the walls is worth it if in the area. A very peaceful and relaxing place.
I enjoyed (albeit typical British spring weather) a walk around the Silchester Roman walls. Quite a short, but very interesting walk nonetheless.
Depending on your pace, it takes approximately 30-35 minutes to complete, which gives you a good idea on the size of the Roman town.
The walls (or part of them are really what remains of this once ancient piece of history). You can also see the beautiful 12th century church, which sits to the south side of the Roman town.
So, I would recommend this walk to anyone. Please ensure to keep your kids on a close eye around some of the wall embankments.
Love this place. It's beautiful. In the middle of the country side. The drive to this place was just so scenic and pretty. There is a lovely walk you can do along the Roman wall which is just the other side of the Ampitheatre. The church has a toilet although, not sure of it's always open. Don't know where the next nearest toilet would be.
There is free parking next to the Ampitheatre or you can park at the church and walk up the road a bit. Such pretty houses here too!
Lovely place and great historical value. A good walk which is easy for all ages (pushchairs and wheelchairs night have an issue). Walk is about a 5k in total (if even that) Nicely thought out small information points into the past. Would highly recommend. Free parking. Only one loo on site. Suggest to take a picnic.
Nice for a quick 3 mile walk round the old wall. Can get busy though. Amphitheatre is nice but again, can be full of people having a picnic so if you like it peaceful, go during the week. Definatety not suitable for pushchairs!

First time back in 20 years and still one of the best stadiums in the country. Everything from staff, to food and drink were great and seating is great with a clear view from wherever you sit. Only down side was the result on the day. URRRZZZZ!
Plenty of parking and well stewarded. One thing I found bad was lack of drop kerbs. When came out of game there was no drop kerbs by exit. The toilet was a good size for wheelchairs as was the wheelchair area. Some stewards were a bit up themselves but most were brilliant. I don't know what idiot at Reading put their hooligans by our fans when most of stadium was empty. Then there was just some steel gates between us that their fans tried knocking it open but couldn't manage.
On the whole the stadium was good and well maintained.
Have to say this is one of best and cleanest stadiums I've visited. Visiting fans can park in the red zone opposite entrance to the hotel and purchase parking tickets on the day but it isn't cheap, £15! You'll need your Covid pass to enter as well as your match day ticket. Literally sits about 500 yards away from the old Smallmead Speedway track (now demolished) where I used to spend many happy Monday nights watching The Racers!
Always a good day out. Went to the preseason friendly between Reading and West Ham. There is a great feeling within the stadium and wherever you sit makes you feel a part of the game. If you do drive in be prepared to wait a while before being able to get out of the car park.
My first home match in 35yrs. Great stadium and plenty to eat and drink. Thank you on my home return.
Excellent ground with good facilities. However, in the middle of nowhere. Traffic bedlum and difficult to get back to the town centre unless you fancy an hour walk.
Decent stadium to go to. Down at Reading gate you can get McDonald's and there are more expensive food trucks just outside the stadium. Food inside the stadium is very lackluster and very overpriced so always bring your own.
Been to number of football stadiums, such as Chelsea, Milan Sapporo, M.U. Although the size isn't as big as the others, still consider quite good.
We were there to support a football match between Reading Vs Huddersfield. Lots of spectators, but not full. However, all sausages sold out very quick :( .
Things that sell in the merchandise shop are very expensive. Their prices are as high as those clubs in Premier League.
Last but not least, we were stuck in the car park for more than 40 min before we can get to the main road.

Staff were exceptional - we used the space for a business conference and can’t fault the service at all. Good quality was good and we had no issues with any of the tech. Beautiful space!

If going by train change at Reading General. Walk to platform 2. Get the train to reading Green Park. 20 minute walk ( one mile) to ground.
There is a Tesco express out side the station.
When you get to hotel outside the ground walk anti clockwise for the away end. If you go clockwise you will get to McDonalds, KFC & Costa.

Went to see a musical here. Absolutely loved it! All the seats were well positioned to see the stage. Queues for the toilets were long but there were a lot of toilets so the queues also moved quickly. Very central location for anyone arriving by public transport.
Good panto. Mainly cos it was good to be back in panto world. Jokes were a bit corny, in good old panto fashion. Show was fun. 5 year old enjoyed it as did all the kids. Mr tumble and Co did a grand job. Hexagons not the biggest but good enough
The Hexagon Theatre in Reading is a quirky venue for sure. I don’t know who the architect was but their remit was clearly to ‘build a utilitarian concrete bunker’ and deliver they did. I’ve been here a few times now and have had a good experience each time. Clearly it depends on the acts you choose to see but as an alternate night out you can’t really go wrong. Personally I like theatre but there are live music events and a choice of indie alternatives. It’s nice to go out in town and do something different rather than just go and drink copious amounts of alcohol and be ripped off accordingly for the ‘privilege’. Be advised though drinks and snacks are on the expensive side but at least you won’t be going for round after round at the bar. The venue itself is in an out of the way location on the fringe of town but there is plenty of parking options nearby and it’s a short walk from Reading station. Recommended? - of course. It’s theatre. It’s cool.
Saw Lost in Music One Night at the Disco which was absolutely incredible definitely going to book it next January. The singing was awesome and got everyone up on their feet
Went to see the Nutcracker by Varna International Ballet. The dancers were excellent. Our tickets were £46 each and I was hoping that we would have been able to see more of the orchestra .
My daughter recommended this after she had seen this ballet company at the Bristol Hippodrome and her 3 children could watch all the orchestra from the front row. We travelled 100 miles each way to the Hexagon in Reading. I liked seeing it all lit up at night however the inside of the theatre is not terribly inspiring.
The costumes were the best I've ever seen. So colourful and original in design.
We went for the first time to see a comedy show, not very impressed with the building, the whole area around does not feel very welcoming. We parked at the civic b car park and walked across. It is less then a minute away, but it did not feel safe at all. It is very run down and feels neglected. The show started nearly an hour late, technical issues, so finished an hour late. This meant paying extra on our parking. You have to pay for overnight parking. The theatre is not too bad inside, smaller then I thought. No issues with seating. It was comfortable enough to sit for 3-4 hours. They have quite a lot of security which is good. It is within walking distance of Reading Town centre, so easy to find. Overall it was a mediocre venue.

Went to see 10CC in concert on 26 October. Despite booking late we had good seats in the circle with a brilliant view of the stage. Queues for the toilets were quite long especially on the upper floors. For a maligned venue needing an update - it's still pretty good. 10Cc were pretty good too!
Excellent Theatre, kind staff, very helpful. Door man directed our car into the parking space provided. Building is very clean and tidy, in & outq Reading Theatre has stairs and a lift for disabled & old people a like. They have a bar for drinks, tea's and coffee and various other options of hot drinks. Also there's toilets, plus disabled people toilets. There's a railway station, taxis and a bus service near by, that runs all routes of Reading.

A wonderfully adaptable venue for concerts plays etc. Big enough, but not too big, great views of stage from most seats. Always a pleasure to go to shoes and gigs at the Hexagon. Latest was Haircut 100 who were brilliant, a great atmosphere...
Excellent venue with good facilities and a good view wherever you sit. I've watched gigs and plays here and the sound has always been really good. I've been here many times over the years and it's a great venue to visit. The staff are all really helpful which adds to the niceness of The Hexagon. Keep your eyes open for events here as if you've not visited, you should! Parking is a plentiful in the local car parks and is an easy venue to get too.
Good view of the stage wherever you sit, as it's reasonably compact. But seats are a little too close together. Perhaps more of the seats at ground level could be tiered. A little chilly with the air conditioning because the venue was not full. We were seeing Justin Hayward. Car park is nearby. Good service at the interval bar.
Excellent venue, the Elvis entertainment was amazing, couldn't tell the difference between the king, tickets were reasonable priced
Came to Reading for a Paloma Faith concert (excellent!). It was my first visit to The Hexagon, and I was impressed! Quite small, which makes for a more intimate experience, but also quick to get in, lots of staff to help, and good facilities.
I will look for this venue for future concerts.
The location is also convenient for the city centre.
Went and saw Paloma Faith at The Hexagon. Fantastic artist, in a fantastic venue. Great acoustics, comfy seating, modern lighting & staging, intimate viewing. Close to city centre & train station. A modern performance space at it's best.

It’s the best farm I have been with my family. My sons just the love the animals out there. They have ducks, chickens, sheep and yes the surrounding is so nice. You don’t have to pay anything it’s just you drop your donations at the entrance. There is a cafe out there which serves lovely and tasty pizzas which you must try as well as there is butcher shop out there where you get fresh eggs chicken meat.
Beautiful farm shop with authentic farming experience, live farm animals and lots of space for kids to play. I am sure it's a lovely experience for kids and families.
Lovely staff with happy faces really enjoyed the visit and their food. Compare to lots of other farm shops I've been to, their food and pricing are fair and fresh. Highly recommended to anyone.
I haven't been here for many years but we came for the lambing event last week. The lambing event was brilliant, but also I was surprised at how good the food in the cafe was and very reasonably priced. The pizza was delicious, coffee was really nice and my husband really enjoyed his pasty with side salad and chips. We will be returning very soon to try the breakfast!
Good place to take kiddos and let them burn some energy. They sleep better 😋 They offer free entry. there is a cafe to get some food/drinks and sit on benches for mini picnic.
Have been visiting Lockey Farm for years with the family and its so nice to see how excited the little ones get when we get here.
They do some really nice food and definitely one of the best cups of tea I've had in a while.
We had a lovely day as usual, the animals seem to be really happy and really well looked after and they are so friendly and good with the visitors.

Visited 24/06/2023 didn't visit the coffee shop/cafe as was more concerned about the animals without any shade or water. Animals looked in a terrible state and not like the pictures on website. When staff were questioned as to the welfare of the animals I was told that they had looked after them all their life's and know how to look after them.
It's a good place. We stopped by for a breakfast and it's decent. Excellent outdoor space for toddlers and kids to play. I would recommend it!
Hate to share this lovely coffee shop located right on a farm . They offer a full breakfast, Sandwiches, and freshly made pizzas. Outside is a large playground for children. Next door is a butcher's shop and a hairdresser. Fantastic place to just chill.
Such a lovely place, great for kids but also for adults. There is a big area where children can play and see the animals. There is also a café where you can buy something to drink or to eat, and a farm shop with plenty of local products. I would definitely recommend a visit!
Great farm shop on the 'rustic' end of the spectrum. Decent sized car park which may suffer from puddles after rain. Well equipped shop with butchers, grocers, cheese area as well as alcohol section. There is also a cafe but we didn't visit. Worth a visit if you live in the locality.
This is a great place to bring the kids. The website has a reasonably accurate description of what is on offer. We visited in October during an overcast and mild day.
The jumping pillows, go carts and toy tractors were not out, but they only charged us £2 to go in.
What is there?
There is a free car park, which has the farm shop and tea room as well as the farm entrance. This is locked off-peak and you pay at the tea room. (CARE! The decking is extremely slippery when wet!)
The tea room is good and staff excellent. The facilities are clean and there is a disabled toilet with baby change.

We ventured here today, 20th March 2024.
Just before the main entrance was The Art Hut, and I saw a lovely painting I knew I had to buy. Art is cash only, so we had to head to Sonning Common for a cashpoint, which is just outside Co-op.
Once inside, we were met by Libby, who was very friendly. She was originally from South Africa. A really nice person to chat with. She even showed my mum where she could try some rose scented moisturising cream, which she loved. The shop is wonderful. It smells amazing.
We looked around the garden centre, which was incredible. Everything looked so healthy. There was a table with reduced plants that were coming to the end of their flowering season. There was such a nice vibe there. I bought a Nepeta plant for my cat, who heartily approves.
We then went to the coffee shop run by Rebel Coffee Ltd. The two members of staff who served us were very friendly and clearly very good at their jobs. We had a hot beverage each and a slice of cake, and it was really tasty. We sat by the window and looked out across the outdoor part of the garden centre.
The toilets are outside, and the views across the way to the open countryside were very pleasant indeed. The Saxon Maze isn't yet open. However, they are hoping to open it just after Easter.
It was a really nice visit to a charming local establishment, opened in the 1980s and still run by the same family.
I loved every minute of the time spent there. My mum was very happy indeed. She thought the tea was great. She often complains about the weak, insipid tea she gets elsewhere. She is already talking about going back, and we will.
The Herb Farm deserves the custom. I found it to be a wonderful place to visit.
A wonderful oasis in the countryside. It's calm, relaxing and with friendly staff. Their coffees are top quality, along with the assortment of food. Highly recommend.

Healthy-looking herbs – many varieties – at reasonable prices.
We walked to the Herb Farm as their web site offered a Full English. We arrived, dogs allowed so our lab was happy, sat outside but found the closest to a FE was a bacon and sausage crusty roll. The mocha was one of the best I have ever had, Rebel Coffee, thank you but 6/10 for the roll, 4/10 for indifferent service and 3/10 for web site being different to what you offer. Go for the coffee.

I recently visited The Herb Farm, and I must say, the experience surpassed my expectations! Right from the entrance, the ambiance was welcoming, and the decor had an earthy, calming touch. The staff were exceptionally knowledgeable, patiently answering all my queries about different strains and their effects.
First of all the £150 moon for sale on the counter from the complaining customer it clearly says DO NOT TOUCH, so common sense says ask a member of staff! moan moan moan!!

A great place to visit that is not just a Herb Farm but there are a Nursery & Gardens, The Barn Shop, Roses & Cottage Garden Plants, the Herb Kitchen Cafeteria, and The Saxon Maze!
The staffs especially at till are so helpful and knowledgeable. It’s a place worth visiting and you won’t be disappointed.
Cafe experience not good. Was looking forward to having a coffee and sandwich here, heard lots of good things about the herb farm cafe. Service (sorry to say) appalling. Staff really inexperienced, unable to explain what food was/service when issues not good either. I was told I had 45min delay for sandwich as large tables before us, person I was with had ordered before me but hadn't been given any delay notification. Later when asked how long food would be, and whether they'd refund him as he'd been waiting so long he was told he'd been warned of an hour delay.. which I'd not heard anyone say as was there. Anyway long story short, shame about service as food actually was good and lovely location too.

Had lunch there today. Staff difficult to get a few words out of them. Not smiling, not proactive. My chicken wrap was tasteless, very dry with a few wilted salad leaves. My friend’s avocado on a brown bread was just that. How much does it take to put a few tomatoes and fresh salad with it? It is really easy to make good food!
Beautiful Gift shop and Café inside the Herb Farm centre. The Maze can be fun for kids too.
Loved it here. Great variety of scones and toppings. Still a great wee place. Nice and quiet when we were there, with a great seat by the window.
Beautiful place. Their farm shop is filled with a variety of organic goods to choose from. The café’s atmosphere is both very cozy and homely with vintage decors to match the mood. The staff are welcoming and attentive. The food and drinks from the café were a bit overpriced, so I suggest only coming here for a quick bite and a coffee (unless you want to splurge ;)), because the menu is not designed to cater for those wanting to sit down and have a proper meal.

Lovely welcome on arrival from a friendly team member. Lots to see given it's a free museum and it's an interesting look at the history of farming and rural life. Some interesting videos made in 1946 are available to watch and the Ladybird Books collection was a welcoming surprise. Recommended, really nicely done.
We had a lovely experience at the Museum! Very informative and an overload of so much history of England! Truly amazing!
We did misplace our one phone there and after going back after normal closing hours, a very friendly lady, Claudia assisted us in returning the phone. Someone found it and handed it in.
We are from South Africa so it was nerve wrecking thinking we lost our phone.

Decent free museum located in university of reading, it details "countryside" life from when horses were primarily used to the introduction of the combustion engine. It doesn't just talk about farming, it also covers life in the countryside, changing lifestyles, etc. It's a really dedicated museum as they have far more stuff than space to display. It could do with more activities that are kid friendly, but overall it was pretty interesting. There is a row of parking spaces directly adjoining the building, there are also spaces on the opposite side which you'll need a permit from the university. I walked from the Oracle, it took about 17 mins so if you're in the town centre it's not that far. Recommended.
Really good museum, lots of items and really well put together. My children found it really engaging and took the time to look at every item on display (which is unheard of) despite it being small we spent about 3 hours there. There is also a large outside area, and a small tea room that serves delicious cakes.
The Penguin exhibit has a shelf stacked with dozens of old penguin books, i could have spent hours in there looking at all the books I had as a child.
Good for adults and older children. We took a 4 and 5 year old and they soon wanted to be outside. It would be nice to have some more young child activities and play equipment.
I would go back again. I'd also like to spend a little more time going through the many exhibits in the dig deeper area and to reminisce through the Ladybird collection.
The cafe provided good coffee and great cakes/biscuits. Value for money.

The museum is free to visit and showing many tools and craft of history of the English countryside. There also have a field and let your little kids to play at there.
I visited here on a Friday morning around 10am. I parked my motorcycle in the car park by the entrance. At the time I got there, both disabled bays were free and several regular parking bays were free too.
Entry is free, although there is a sign requesting a suggested donation of £5 if you feel like it.
The museum is fully accessible with an automatic entry door operated by a plunger. The main museum displays are at ground level with a disabled, multi use toilet available at the far end near the lift. The lift goes up one floor and was where Mums were taking their children.
The main display was Wagon Walk;a large collection of restored wagons and carts dating from the 1700s up to the mid 1900s. There’s plenty of information available to read, but the display was a bit cramped and half wasn’t well lit either making it difficult to appreciate the finer points of the display.
On the next section I came to were descriptions of the life and achievements of farmers and farm labourers, both at work and in the home. Here were displayed tractors, a threshing machine and an early Land Rover amongst others and artifacts used in rural life.
The last section describes the work done in each season and includes descriptions of why they were done that way.
Finally there is a comfortable coffee shop and gift shop by the entrance/exit and you may also go outside into the garden.
Overall an interesting experience and worth a visit. Time spent was around 75 minutes.
Went with my father who is retired. Amazing discovery since he lives really close by. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, but only managed to scrutinise about half the exhibits. We'll definitely be going back soon to see the rest.
There is just a little text at the displays but there are QR codes at most of the sections that take you to the relevant web page with more details on the displayed items. This is a very useful feature. For those who prefer non-digital options, there are cards with labels for each of the displayed items. We wouldn't have figured out what the weeding tongs were without this.
We enjoyed admiring the craftsmanship and ingenuity of the items on display. So different from much of what is sold today - things were made to last and they have lasted.

What a fun museum in Reading. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was fantastic to see old tins, farm equipments and the old way of rural life in England. I spent a bit of time watching how to make cheese. It was fascinating.

Such wonderful service from Claire at the Reading branch! I had damaged the trousers to my suit, and Claire went above and beyond to find the last 1 in stock for a replacement! It wasn't easy to find them but she did. She also came across very warm and friendly. An asset to to the team!
I had a very fulfilling shopping experience. Norma Sadio was so helpful, she showed her expertise, taught me things I needed to look out for when picking my bras, tips I'll use from now on. Thank you for the wonderful time.
Self checkouts should not be a replacement for the normal manned registers especially when you do a big shop. Not only that but they’ve put these small ones where there’s not enough space to bag the items, hardly any staff and one person servicing the normal tills even at peak times. One feels like an idiot scanning items with the machines playing up waiting for a staff member to sort it. This is seriously humiliating. As a customer the least you can expect is some basic level of service specifically in a higher end food shop like M&S.
I recently had a wonderful experience at M&S, all thanks to an incredible staff member named Sue. She assisted me with a product return, and I couldn't be more pleased with how smoothly everything went. This experience has significantly boosted my trust and loyalty towards M&S. It's clear that they value customer satisfaction highly and employ staff who are not only skilled but genuinely care about helping.
Excellent location. Convenient and large, with especially amazing selection of beers, coders, wines and liquor. If you have any favourite flavour or brand. Chances are good you’ll find it here, paired with rare and unusual crisps.
Produce and meats are fresh and plentiful, staff is friendly and helpful. Lots of self-checkout lines really cut down on waiting times.
The only downside is the price - slightly higher overall than other stores in the area, but worth it for the quality and sortiment.
So. M and S consider they have good customer service here.
I beg to differ. Visited today and looked at buying almost £200 of mens clothes. Only to find.......... Yet another shop with self service tills only. And a horrendous queue to boot.
Clothes back on the nearest rack and another shop off my list. I do not and will not be forced to use self service checkouts.

Gone are the days of tidy shelves, plentiful stock and helpful staff.
Menswear department (especially shoes) more like a jumble sale than a high street department store.
As someone who used to regularly shop instore hete, being told to "buy online" because they cant find the stock on the shelf, I won't be back. If you spent some time tidying up your displays you may find the item the customer wants, and which your system says you have in stock.
Last week I went into the store to buy a new pair of black shoes. There was nowhere to sit to try pairs on, the only bench being occupied by two youngish men chatting away. The shoes were tied together by a cord with a very tight knot and the laces had been inserted the wrong way around - they were going INTO the top holes, rather than out of them. So it was all but impossible to try them on. (At least I'd bought my own shoe horn.) No wonder I got the wrong size! I returned them on Thursday, to be told my preferred size was not in stock and I could order them. Which meant trying to enter my details on a tiny screen and specifying when I could collect the shoes. So I cancelled the process. But the lady was very patient and polite, so I looked for an alternative style. This time the bench was unoccupied and the shoes weren't tied together (although laced the wrong way), and I went away with a more expensive pair.
Love this shop, you can buy food, flower, clothes, home staff, cosmetic staff, exchange currency, little bit expensive that normal, but good quality. Customer service is ok, not to high standard. It is located in Main Street in Reading town. It is two level of shop. There are three entrance in front, back and side door.
Marks and Spencer on Broad Street is one of the larger chain stores. Normal format womenswear and food downstairs with menswear and furnishings upstairs. This store has recently revamped a bit and the lower and upper floors are less densely packed with products. Somehow feels emptier. The menswear is pretty good though. Good shirts, good suits, good jackets. And pretty decent knitwear, come on us older guys have to have a bit of knitwear every now and again. Also you can’t really go wrong with the underwear and socks. The food hall is quite large and M&S food is quality (if slightly heavier on the calories…). You also get a decent fresh cut flower and plant section here. Self serve checkouts in the food hall make it a breeze. I like this store and always come in here on a trip into town. It’s M&S - what’s not to like?
Honestly I’d have given it 0 * if I could. The service in the cafe was appalling! Slow, disorganised, half the food options unavailable, customers not served in order of the queue. Just because I didn’t want a coffee, apparently that means 3 people can order food and drinks in front of me.
When my drink was ready, it was just dumped down the end of the counter. Took my drink and waited for food. The man taking food to tables was noticeably walking around picking his nose! Really gross! My food arrived approximately ten minutes before my friends did, which made it awkward, as my food was getting cold, I ate, while she watched, and then vice versa. This was bad enough, but when we back to look around the clothing, there was a lady following us around to get us to open a store card, I politely said no thankyou.. she then went on, trying harder, I said really it’s a no… why not? I’m not interested! She then got huffy! Then, the toilets were disgusting and unclean, half the taps were broken and 2 cubicles didn’t flush and 1 hasn’t got tissues! Come on M and S! Really underwhelming!
I recently visited M&S Reading with my fiancé to look for a suit. As soon as we got to the suit section we were greeted by a lovely lady who encouraged us to pick as many as we needed and to try on. When we got to the fitting rooms, there with a welcoming smile was Adam! Adam made this situation so easy, pleasant and thorough. Adam’s advice, patience and customer service were second to none. Even with our 2 year old in tow the experience we had was calm and we purchased a lovely fitting suit for my fiancé and left very happy customers. We will be recommending M&S and Adam to everyone! We had a great time on a wine & cheese tour in Dec 2023.
Welcomed to the tour with a chilled glass of sparkling wine before moving outside.
Our guide Derek was friendly, engaging & knowledgeable, able to share his passion for the subject with us in a down to earth and relaxed way.
We learnt about the history of the Estate, the different varieties of grapes grown, the impact of weather & climate change, and the processes used in the winery.
Surprisingly (to me) it’s not highly mechanised and still much intensive labour is required.
Finished the outdoor tour with an indoor wine & cheese paired tasting which was very enjoyable. Generous tastings offered to all of us in our small group of 4.
No pressure to drink up and get out, allowing us time to drink, chat and choose a few bottles to buy for Christmas.

What a great little place.
We live only 3 miles away but haven't been there for years. We decided to buy a bottle of English bubbly as a gift for friends and went to look.
We were met and given fabulous and enthusiastic advice and guidance from someone I believe is called Derek, but may be wrong. He was excellent and I believe also does the tours.
After our purchase he suggested having a glass of wine and sit in the courtyard garden.
A sun trap and a marvelous place to sit enjoying the weather and especially the first class glass of wine.
Highly recommended and will certainly return again.
We have visited the Wine Bar a couple of times. Ut decided to so the Wine Tour. Lucky for us the weather was amazing and so was our guide Tamsin. The tour was 1.5hrs and whilst it did not cover much of the property there was lots of wine (6 types) and lots of knowledge. Once done retreat to the Wine Bar Garden for table service. Lots of per glass and flight options and the reasonably priced sharing platters make you feel like you are in the Med. Some local beer & cider options if you don't like wine. Staff are all super friendly. Will definitely go back.
We went on the wine tasting tour which was quite pleasant. You're given 6 wines to taste and get a good amount. 1.5hours just the tight amount of time though our guide over ran a little. Had drinks at the bar afterwards - the tasting flights are good value at £6 for 3 tasters.
Beautiful winery in the heart of Berkshire. Not only a vineyard but also a winery which is rare, wonderful tour which includes tasters of the wine- a few of which are award winning.
Our tour guide was Lydia, can't speak highly enough of how engaging and knowledgeable she was.
There is a small shop for cheeses and snacks, and then you can buy all of the wine made in the shop also.
There is a beautiful wine garden to have food and wine in, and is lovely on a sunny afternoon!

The wine bar was a revelation to me. Last time I visited, many years ago, you could taste the wines in a small room. Now it's really great. Would have liked lower chairs and tables as I find them more comfortable than the higher chairs but we managed just fine. The ambiance was good and so were the wines and nibbles. Thank you 🍷🍾🍷

We enjoyed a day there with Rose and sparkling wine. Great service and beautiful surroundings. I think you can only see the vineyards with a tour (We decided to come last min so the slots were booked out online), but nevertheless it's nice to chill a glass at the bar. There is also a public footpath near by for a walk.

Toilets on site, everything is clean. The selection of wine and cheese is perfect. We had the best day here. I never do the same. Beautiful gardens in a superb location, right beside the River Thames. It's a great place for a picnic and to watch boats go by, as well as to enjoy the wildlife and to appreciate the lovely, mature trees.

A regular stop for my kids to feed the ducks, run around, climb the trees and play on the “slide”. Lovely spot to walk through, have a picnic or grab coffee and cake from the kiosk. The gardens are beautiful and the grounds well kept and very clean(mostly free of duck/goose/swan poop)
Lovely, restful gardens looking out over the river. Small cafe open Thursday to Sunday staffed by different charity volunteers offering drinks and homemade cakes.
Beautiful well-maintained gardens and historic site with information about the manor house that used to be there. It is a great place for finding some quiet riverside green space and for picnics in the summer.
Absolutely gorgeous area, clean and safe for kids, wonderful selection of flowers and the lavender out in full force at the moment, just a stunning and well maintained area! Lovely to be at the waters edge and not worry about my little one with the little fence. A lovely little area to chill and relax, lovely vibe.

Beautiful place for w walk or picnic. There is a grass area where you can put your blanket down and relax with the book, picnic or just admire surroundings.
It's a hidden gem of a park in Caversham. We visited for the Halloween fest on a Sunday with our 6 yr old. He had so much fun treasure hunting ghosts. Next to the scenic river view, it has a tea shop as well.
A very nice, attractive park and garden in Caversham. The park and walking path along the river is on opposite banks. You can feed ducks, or just enjoy the green space or either walk along the river. Looks like the river is busy with canoyeing during the summer. If you going to drive to this park, the closest free Car parking is The Warren (behind the church). You will find plenty of car parking here along the road. I recommend this park and gardens. Thanks.
