Fantastic weekend of events with the family. We enjoyed a few of the attractions and had a really great time. It's one of those tourist destinations which offers unique experiences which is what we try to look for. The use of the existing slate mines is incredible and you feel humbled by the surroundings. We took part in the Deep Mine Tour which I would strongly recommend as it gives you a full insight into the true world of what it was really like to work in a place like that, expanding your engagement with the other activities. All the staff were very friendly and helpful we didn't have one bad experience with any of them. The only down side to Zip World, unfortunately, is the price! It is quite steep. Hopefully the more popular it becomes and the higher the footfall maybe pricing can be adjusted and become more affordable. Maybe introduce package deals for multiple activities as well. And with the size of the location maybe open up more on site accommodation/camping maybe.

We took part in there brand new underground golf experience. Where do I start. I would happily say it's the best adventure golf course I have played and I have played a fair few. The fact you have to travel deep underground to start just gets the excitement going straight away. Our group was mixed ages from 6 to 80. And each one of the group had a great time. The course itself has a mix of different difficulty holes to try out your skills on. The only downside was the slide between levels was blocked off but I'm sure they had there reasons. Would highly recommend to all.

Location of Underground Golf, and some of the zip wires. Brilliant experiences all around, as there is something for everyone. Golf had many fun aspects such as a slide in the middle, and of course the ride down the shaft to get to the caves. The reception staff were quick and helpful. The staff at the cave entrance were awesome, and even managed to get us at an earlier booking by 15 minutes so we didn't have to wait around.

We did the Deep Caverns tour. Word of warning: You need to use stairs to go down the mine so if you have mobility issues think carefully about doing this. That said, the going isn't too bad and you get transport back to the surface. Great tour that really gives a snapshot of life in times past. You also travel through several large caverns. There are also a couple of projected videos to watch and listen to. Very atmospheric. Staff were very friendly. Cafe worth a visit too

Absolutely fantastic day out. I did caverning and zipline on the same day and because they were on the same site it's easy to move between activities. The staff were all friendly and helpful and me and my group had an absolute blast. Fantastic as a group activity or as a family activity.

We were in Wales for a weekend away with our two boys (10 & 6) and were able to book a couple of activities at the Llechwedd site the day before. We did the Big Red, which is a zip line for younger children or first timers, it was a nice start to the day, and at £10 was reasonably priced. We also booked the bounce below, which was absolutely fantastic. We took a quick trip into the caverns and were met with layers of bouncing fun set into the cavern. The session is for an hour and is brilliant. Parents be warned, it's harder than you think as it is more of a springy netting than a standard trampoline. Long sleeves and trousers are recommended, and I fully advise this as if you fall the material can be abrasive. You also need to wear trainers with good grip as the nets get slippy, these just want to be old shoes and clothes as you can get dirty/scuffed. The staff were brilliant and very helpful. We will definitely be returning to Zip World and completing more adventures.

Second time here in the caverns, they really are running a well oiled operation. Everyone is happy and enjoying work, good instructors and then you're left to it. In the main cavern, it does get a bit hairy for some, the via ferrari sections are now more amenable but still slightly slippery. Its very high in places, steep and tight in others. The zip lines are worked out well, but if you have bulk, you will be smashing into 3 of the platforms hard. Its fun, it's a little challenging in spots, not for those that scare easily or don't like heights. Quite pricey to be fair, if its a treat then it's worth it.

Absolutely amazing experience. DO NOT DO THIS IF SCARED OF HEIGHTS. It was terrifying but worth it. Husband said one of the best things he had ever done and we can't wait to come back again next year! Jared our trainer was brilliant, funny, chatty and helpful.

We completed the Caverns high ropes course. Amazing experience. Staff were helpful and well trained, it really challenged me as it was quite scary and you are so high in places but it was so well designed that it was achievable and enjoyable!

Came for Bounce Below, our second visit. It's unique and a lot of fun. The caves are lit with shifting and contrasting colours which highlight their features. Music is played throughout but at a volume where you can easily have a conversation. It's popular for kids but we've been as an adult group and have seen others there as well so not exclusively for the young. There's lots to explore and we've seen each area in the time we stayed, but on neither visit have I been able to stay on the nets for the full hour! It's a workout and my legs turn to jelly after a while.

We did the crazy golf in the caves in zip world and it wasn't bad. The crazy golf wasn't the most crazy course we've been to but it was pretty novel being down in the caves. Getting the helmets on and heading underground in the little train added to the novelty of the experience - good stuff. It wasn't badly priced as we qualified for a locals discount (even though we're about an hour away - we must have the same post code) and the gift shop and refreshments didn't seem over priced which was nice. The staff were nice throughout, from a very pleasant and helpful guy on the phone as we booked whilst on the way to the man who welcomed us and got us set up with helmets, intro talk, etc - all did their job very well. The facilities were a little dated and worn and a few bits on the courses didn't work as you'd expect but it didn't ruin the experience. There were 18 holes with the golf, although not too much variation between them. Not bad for the price, but we were ready to finish by the time it was done. Took us a little over an hour to get around - we weren't waiting for many holes and didn't hold anybody up. The kids used the toilets before we went down - well worth doing as there aren't any toilets down there (and no staff visible throughout the game to ask). Only caused a slight issue on the 17th hole as my youngest was getting slightly desperate for the loo and we had to wait for the train to come back down to collect us. We ended up waiting and me trying to distract her for just ten to fifteen minutes before we were able to head to the facilities. We grabbed some lunch in the bike centre just around the corner before arriving as we got there 30 minutes early and the food was excellent. Cost about £35 for me and my two girls so not the cheapest but worth it - the food was lovely and there was plenty of it. Overall worth a visit for the price, but not somewhere I'd probably go back to for a second go.

Great two days here doing the caverns day 1 and then underground golf day 2. Staff friendly and helpful. Caverns is a fantastic experience though not if you don't like heights. The video camera for £8.50pp is also good value for money. The golf, again is excellent. The course is themed and it's great to see some actual obstacles to overcome.

This is as far as the Snowdon Mountain Railway goes at the moment with the last 1/4 leg of the journey to the summit closed until further notice. If you buy the return ticket they only let you stay 30 mins here once you arrive otherwise they don't guarantee you a seat on the return trip which is inconvenient. Bearing this in mind, even with the cheaper £29 'early bird' tickets which we bought we thought it was expensive, they also charge you an extra 3.50 fee for booking online. Other than that I felt that the views from the station back down the mountain and towards Llanberis are only so so compared to the summit, which is an additional 1ish hour trek from this station, and so the 30 mins they give you isn't enough to trek up to the summit. Make sure you go to the toilet first before boarding the train as there are no toilets nor other facilities up here.If I were you though I'd wait for the railway to reopen all the way back to the summit before considering coming. See the photos I've posted to get an idea of the views from the station. If you really want to come make sure you come on a clear day otherwise it is a total waste of time and money and check the weather forecast before booking tickets online as there are no refunds.

This review is based on my personal experience on the day. We booked the tickets for the 2nd of April 2024, early afternoon. First thing I must say it's the car park, £12.50 for the day and the automatic machines don't work with Debit card or contact less. I used Ring Go. Then we jumped on the train, seats were really wet and not heating . When we reach the top of the mountain we couldn't see a thing due to the fog. Soo we jumped backed on the train and waited half an hour for it's departures. Basically for my family of 4 I spent £127 plus parking. For a trip on a cold diesel trian. Soo for that day I had to give 2 stars . Maybe if it was nice and clear it would have been a different experience.

The station is at 775m and at the time we went up the rails onwards to the top were being repaired. The train stops just above the Llanberis path and has great views. We were just below the cloud which was forecast in the Met Web page as being at 800m for most of the time we were there. The train waits for the 30m stop so if the weather changes then you have some shelter. Check the mountain forecast ahead so you know how to dress. It. An be cold there even on a sunny day.

Great views once you get higher up. The tickets were expensive though and it was a hot day and the interior of the train was clean but really hot (not much ventilation). It was a good experience though to see the views and easier than walking it!

Fabulous scenic ride up Snowdon shame it only goes three quarters of the way up at the moment. Very busy need to book several days before to have a good choice of journey times, we booked the day before and only 2 slots available mid afternoon.

Great morning on the train, met some interesting people on way up. Would recommend commentary on train as lots of history over 100 years of train journeys and amazing views from Clogwyn of Anglesey and Wales. Superb

Recently had the pleasure of visiting Mountain Station, and I must say it was an experience like no other. Situated in the majestic Snowdonia mountain range, this destination offers a combination of a great view, an exhilarating train journey, and easy travel arrangements. First and foremost, the view from Mountain Station is absolutely awe-inspiring. As you ascend to the highest point, the panoramic vistas of Snowdonia unfold before your eyes. Whether you're a nature enthusiast or simply someone who appreciates natural beauty, the view from Mountain Station is sure to leave a lasting impression. The train journey to the summit is another highlight of the experience. The gentle chug of the train combined with the stunning surroundings creates a serene and enjoyable atmosphere, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the journey. One aspect that makes Mountain Station particularly convenient is the ease of travel. The station is easily accessible, and the staff is friendly and helpful, ensuring a smooth and hassle-free experience. Pre-booking tickets is highly recommended, as it guarantees your spot and saves you from potential disappointment due to limited availability. The process is straightforward and can be done online, allowing you to plan your visit in advance and avoid any last-minute complications.

Arrived at 11 o clock. The first available train was 12:30, the trip took 2 hrs . There were no trains available when we arrived back. The fare was £32 pound return. Thcar Park across the road was £11. The train only went 3/4 of the way up, but the views were fantastic.

The scenery is absolutely stunning, even if the summit is closed (we only went to the 1st stop). Our Guard was great, full of information (who knew one of the original engines rolled off the track and fell into the valley below (in about 1893)).

Would have given 5 stars but it didn't go all the way to the summit of Snowdon. We were sat right behind the guard at the front of the train (compartment A), which was great.

Although I wasn't able able to get to the summit and the train was rather expensive costing £160 for a family of four it was well worth it for the view.

Absolute fantastic views, Snowdon is a fantastic walk there's many different routes you can go weather it is by the train which you need to book in advance or be disappointed, the route from lanberis or the other more extreme routes, well worth doing make sure you take plenty of snacked and water as you need it. Once you get to the top the views are stunning, We were lucky as the clouds cleared just enough to see a clear view around absolute stunning, highly requemend.

It's like walking through the countryside, except the countryside is continually steep for 4 hours and the sheep play by their own rules. If you are thinking of arriving after 9am and hoping to find a parking space you are in for a surprise, and not a good one.

Various paths up to the top. Stunning views in all directions at the summit. Can get busy, so I'd recommend going midweek and early morning.

If you're starting on the Llanberis route, there's a train that can take you to just over halfway, and to the peak itself! (As of the 20th of April 2024, the summit station seems to be closed, no clue if this is temporary or permanent). On a sunny day, the views are incredible. It's the smallest out of the three peaks, but don't let that fool you - it's still a decent climb! The Snowdon Parking lot is £12 for the day, but unfortunately I couldn't get parked there. Instead, I used the village car park further along the road, and it cost me £5 overall (I had to use an app, and renewed it on the way down the mountain as it has decent signal near the stations. Bargain!)

Climbed for the second time a few days ago with my dogs. Went up the Pyg track, weather was terrible, was planning on reaching the top but the dogs got too cold so we only made it about 90% of the way. Ended up going down Llanberis, weather cleared up and the view was great. Took about 8 hours of walking, and despite the weather while going up it was worth it👍Also the wind when you get near the top is extremely strong, don't know how the bikers do it.

Beautiful as hell, but the long queues are something to keep in mind when planning to go.

Really enjoyed the route up to the summit of Snowdon. Set off at 8:00am to get a little ahead of the crowds and found that was well worth it. Some challenging parts of the route but perfectly doable for the inexperienced hiker with patience, snacks and layers! Would do it again for sure. The views are fantastic on the way up and, I'm sure, at the summit - it was pure cloud when I got there. It was very windy and very cold at the top - about a 16 degree difference from the temperature at Llanberis so make sure you take suitable clothing accordingly!

No words can describe Snowdon, you need to conquer it to really experience it!!! It is an amazing climb of moderate difficulty, therefore make sure you are well equipped! The views are out of this world; if climbed on a clear day, you can see all the way to the bay and beyond!! Highly recommend this jewel!!

Fantastic hike with some breathtaking views of the Welsh countryside. We took the Watkins Path which had a decent amount of parking spaces available when we arrived at around 8am. Once we reached the summit we followed the Miners Track back down and took a cold dip in Lake Glaslyn.

What a nice trail. Not so challenging but the scenery is fantastic. The way back we took another path which added a lot of ups and downs but we’ll worth it. Very cold up there!!!

My hike on Snowdon mountain was an unforgettable experience, made even more accessible by taking the train halfway up. The breathtaking views from the train journey provided a taste of the majestic beauty awaiting me at the summit. The hike itself was exhilarating, with well-marked trails and stunning scenery at every turn. Despite not hiking the entire way, I still felt a deep connection to the mountain and its surroundings. Reaching the summit was a rewarding achievement, offering panoramic views that took my breath away. Whether you're an experienced hiker or prefer a more leisurely approach like I did, Snowdon mountain is a must-visit destination in Wales. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking adventure and natural beauty.

A wet and windy one. We had intended to do the Pyg track up and Miners on the way back but we missed the turn on the way down (because taking my frozen hand out of my glove was a pain so I checked the route map too late) and ended up taking the Pyg back down. I would recommend doing both tracks though because Pyg gives you an elevated view of the lakes whereas Miners brings you down close to them. There was a lot of fog on the day and the strong wind and rain meant we kept our heads down so there weren’t any great views but I can imagine this would be a great walk to do in April/May when the weather is nice. Due to the rain portions of the path were flooded (these are easy to circumvent) and the rocks and grass on the route were slippery. There was only one part of the trail that went through snow, which was fine going up but tough going down. You can hold on to the rock at the side to stop from sliding on the snow so you can get away without an ice axe or crampons. There were plenty of people on the route too and the Pyg trail is easy to follow. Plenty of people with dogs on the walk so bring your floofer. Some people had to lift smaller dogs up some parts of the climb.

It was such a great hike. One of the best trails I've been to in the UK. The terrain is not too steep and not too easy. It took about 4 and a half hours to get to the top from the based. (Mostly because I was with a group). The wind can be very very strong at certain points and in some cases can feel at if you'll be blown away. If you're a nature and mountain lover this is absolutely the best bet for you.

An absolutely amazing place. Outstanding views. Definitely worth the trip, especially if you walk it. Stop thinking about going and just go.

Can't really explain how beautiful this place is! We took the miners track and it was quite the adventure in the weather we had ☔so definitely keep an eye on the weather reports.

What a view. Even though it was cloudy it was still fantastic. The beginners trail was really easy to follow and wasn’t too challenging for my Mum and I. Highly recommend, beautiful mountain. Will have to come back when the weather clears up.

Awesome walk. Went up Watkin path on a fairly cold day with some cloud and snow at the top section in March. Took our very fit mini dachshund who managed most of it except the very top where needed to be carried. Wouldn't necessarily advise taking a dog up this path unless it is snow free - needless to say the dachshund was pretty shattered the next day.

Incredible walk, went on a whim! Ice and snow and windy at the top. Stunning views that changed by the second! We followed the middle path, 2.5 hrs to the top, 2 hours back down. Cafe not open mid way up, but little bar/cafe open at the bottom on way back. Parked at the slate museum - £5, then followed the street round, past the Victoria hotel to the right, into a cul-de-sac to start the climb!

Absolutely fantastic place to have a new point of view!!! Must be prepared for sudden wheatear changes, but we'll worth to visit and back again!

Jan. 2024 went for a dawn hike up Snowdon (Wales) with the hope of seeing a cloud inversion. As you will see from the photos we were lucky enough to get these gorgeous views of the cloud inversion and a ‘glory’ (a circular rainbow viewed from above). The views were simply stunning. But please, if you are thinking of hiking up Snowdon in the winter period make sure you have appropriate clothing and footwear. All the little streams and rivers that cross the paths were all frozen up and people were trying to cross these without crampons on – make sure you have crampons, at least, to stop you falling down the mountain and potentially injuring yourself. The number of people without crampons (or wearing suitable clothing to protect them from the biting cold winds waiting for them above the cloud line and summit) seen slipping on the ice trying to get up Snowdon was ridiculous. They were putting themselves in danger of harm by being poorly prepared. There are several (~8) paths up Snowdon ranging in difficulty (Llanberis path is considered the easiest to Crib Goch considered the hardest) so make sure you pick the one most suitable to you in advance of arriving at the mountain – and check the local mountain weather too. On this day we went up the PYG track, and it certainly needed much care and attention to ascend to the summit … especially from about halfway to the top when the ice became a real problem.

We took the minors path and, while difficult in places, it was well worth it! So many beautiful landscapes in one journey. To top it off, at the summit there’s a cafe and a hell of a view. We took an easier route down and got a good look at the train which goes straight from the bottom to the top for anyone who doesn’t think they can make the climb. Definitely going back again!

This was our second time. The first time we completed the miners path and this time we completed the Llanberis path. We were so lucky with the weather and had a dry sunny day but not too hot. They are both great routes up. I probably overall preferred the miners path but the views for both were stunning and endless. We did for a part get a large cloud covering which completely blocked any views but this didn't spoil it for us. We set out at 7.30am and there were already groups of people starting out. We used the main mountain railway car park which was already filling up at 7am. We saw lots of people struggling and some people flew up. There's nothing particularly difficult it is just a long slog to the top. My 6 year old managed fine but we hike most weekends.

One of the finest and must visit Water Falls in the North Wales. The force of the water falls is so high and it's just a treat to the eyes. If you close your eyes for a minute, you can feel and enjoy the nature and trust me it's a make you float in the air. You will go to imaginary world. The sound of air, chipping sound birds, ripples of water will get you the goosebumps. For my eyes entire North Wales is one of the best place in the UK. Everyone should visit atleast once in their life time. Their is a entry ticket of 2 pounds per person. Though they are collecting the entry ticket it's shame that their is no facilities like Toilets, Cafe... They need to provide a basic facility like Toilets. If you are driving a car their is a few parking space available. Also their is a bus station close by. Since i drove the car I'm not sure about the frequency of the bus.

Absolutely stunning waterfall, very relaxing to listen to. There is wheelchair access to see the main waterfall which I think is amazing to be inclusive. If you want to explore further down there are a lot of steps to go up and down, and there is railing however it is getting very rusted and will need repair soon. The entry fee was £2 which was reasonable considering how well maintained it was. There is very limited parking, especially as the hotel opposite has gone so there is even less parking.

Beautiful, stunning falls. Few steps, great viewing points. Highly recommend. £2 per person. Layby at the top on the main road. Hotel and bar across the road that was being renovated at the time. April 2024.

Visited in September 2019. I almost gave up to see the waterfall, because during my 2 weeks holiday almost every day I drove on that road A5, and never had a chance to to stop, as the car park was always extremely busy. To be honest it is not a big car park, but someone goes away, 3 others waiting for that space. It can be easier sometimes to park on the other side of the road where is the Swallow falls hotel/pub with its own parking. But because this is the busiest road of the mountain it's not easy to cross the road. The falls are between the Ugly house and Betws-y-Coed on the very side of the road. Then just 2 days before my holiday ended,one evening I found parking space, so I stopped immediately. It is not a huge attraction or something we spend more than 30 minutes by the way, so it's surprising that the car park is always busy. The entrance is a narrow barred iron gate works with coins, £2 per head to get in. I found it very strange, because the waterfall is just next to the road, and seems that it was fenced only for tourists, to get access for money. And as I said, the time we spend there is no more than half an hour but even that is too long. Quite a few steps leads down to different very wet terraces, and it is indeed a lovely waterfall and we can take nice pictures. I can advise to go there early morning or later afternoon/evening, when we can parking easier, and also the terraces are less busy. But be prepared with coins to get in. It is nothing else there, just stairs down to the terraces and back to the gate, I remember 1-2 benches, but that's it.

Beautiful place..... the sound of falls is amazing... views are beautiful Entry 2 pounds per person either pay by coins or contact less on the the gates. There is lay-by opposite to swallow hotel for few cars.

Stunning. A must see. Well worth the £2 entry fee. As well as the viewing point down a few steps, recommend going down the many steps to see the view from lower down. Helpful and pleasant staff member at the gate. All the parking spaces outside were taken so we parked up the road at Cae'n y Coed National Forest which has a free car park and only a five mins walk from Swallow Falls.

Lovely falls with safety bars surrounding it . Lots of steps . You will get a beautiful view of the waterfall. not recommend for people with difficulty walking . Beautiful falls, but you have to pay £2 for adults and £1 for children .car parking is nearby and easily accessible to the falls

I was surprised to find that you had to pay to see the waterfall but once I did I could see it's well looked after and the stress is made safe. You need £2 per person or it takes contactless cards. Stunning place to spend a few minutes in nature.

Entry fee is £2 per adult and £1 per child under the age of 14. Nice relaxing visit with not too many people around. I also like the fact that the venue was not crowded, so plenty of opportunities to get that perfect Instagram photo.

What an amazing place to come and visit! So beautiful! There is a £2.00 charge to get in but certainly worth it! You can pay by card with contactless. The entry is through a very narrow revolving gate... not so great if you are on the chunkier side!🤷🤣

Not recommended for disabled visitors. The site has a turnstile access system and an entrance fee of £2 per person. The venue has separate platform viewing levels which are accessible by steep steps. For the best experience, it's recommended to visit the site during or after heavy rainfall to see the waterfalls in full flow. Parking is restricted and the Swallow Falls Hotel was closed due to a major refit and upgrade.

An incredible natural beauty and lovely location. Hidden away and took my breath away, 100% would recommend. Parking available too. However, there is an entry fee of £2 which is horrendous as everyone should be able to see a sight like this for free. If you can find a way to sneak in, I don't blame you.

Very beautiful, you can pay by card to get in, wasn't busy. It's dog friendly. You can take dogs with you. It's definitely worth a visit. Apparently, it's best to go after good rainfall, which is what we did.

Beautiful area , exhilarating falls! We went when it was icy and snowing so had to be extra careful on the steps. This didn't takeaway from the beautiful views though. There are platforms so you can get the best views . It really is good for the soul. There was a charge going through a turnstile but there's facilities to use your card . Will definately go back in different seasons.

This waterfall was great. There was still a lot of incoming water, although it was a winter now. Both upper view and lower tier view were outstanding. Going down stairs about 5 minutes. Fir both tier, we spend 15 minutes only. £1 per entry using contactless autopay method. No cash excepted. No security guard at entrance

Parking is on the opposite side of the A5 to the North, about 150 yards. Access is via a coin or card turnstile. This is not wheelchair or limited mobility friendly. The falls are accessed via steep and uneven steps with various viewpoints available. Word of advice: look over the wall when on the A5 pavement to see if there is any water in the river. Don't waste money if there isn't. We were lucky as per the photos.

There are no words for how beautiful this place is. Bring some coins with you as there is a turnstile that takes coins. 1 or 2 pound coins work, not sure for smaller ones.

Went to see this on a week day . Very slite rain, on and off . 2 other couples there. We was there for about 30 minutes when we left the sun was out . And there was about 20 people around us .

Really interesting place to visit, loved learning about slate mining in Wales. Plenty to see, really enjoyed the trip back in time visiting the miners cottages. The staff were very friendly and informative. The cafe was very good, the soup was delicious. There is a nice gift shop with a reasonable range of items. Entry to the museum is free.

Had a great experience here and got a free lesson on slate making. It's much bigger than I expected with friendly staff. Set in brilliant scenery you are certainly guaranteed to learn a lot about this historic industry that has shaped the culture and landscape of Wales so greatly.

What a fabulous pace to visit parking is £5 for the day. Museum is free and it's fab so much history and things to do. It has a cafe on site a small playground and a gift shop. Outside 2 Minute walk across the way is the lake railway again with small cafe and shop. £10.50 adult return journey about hour total .. the views are spectacular out of this world. A lovely day out for families wheelchair friendly.

Visited in August 2019, when I had my holiday in Wales. I spent a whole day in Llanberis, taking the railway to the summit and look around in the village. To be honest, it wasn't the best museum I've seen, but at some point was interesting. Even to see tools they used a few decades ago or see the photos and videos, the decorated showrooms, was shocking, pulled me back in time , when people had more difficult life than we have nowadays. Seeing that extremely heavy work and the conditions those people worked in, the almost nothing health and safety really made me feel sad about them. We should appreciate better what we have today: easier jobs and lifestyle. True that we can learn there a lot about mining and good that it is free.

This was a nice little surprise… spent a good couple of hours here having a wander around. If you get the chance, sit in on the slate splitting session.. very interesting and very funny too, the experts were quite engaging and full of knowledge 🤓🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Also, do not miss out on viewing the water wheel… stunning piece of history 🤩

I'm stunned that something like this is free entry. Very well set up, beautifully presented and the activities are brilliant. We all loved it. My 6½yr old loved exploring it.

Everyone should visit here. Such a great site to visit for free. All the old equipment and stories of the men/women who worked in the industry and good to hear and understand the heritage. John was so informative when demonstrating splitting the slat and knew his stuff!

Brilliant place to visit the surrounding views are amazing. Very interesting insight on what life was like. We loved visiting the houses and the blacksmith demonstration. Loved the smell in some of the work spaces if brought me back to when I would watch my grandad work in his work shed. There's a little play area for the kids and a cafe with baby changing facilities. I can't believe it's free to visit too!

We had a fantastic visit here was very lucky to have the weather on our side, such an amazing place so Much information and lots to learn and take in really interesting and educational, great for adults and children a must if you love history this part of wales is stunning the views are amazing and breathtaking, so peaceful and slow paced will definitely be back and will be enjoying a walk up to the abandoned miners barracks and cottages which is a short walk from here.

We visited the Llanberis national slate museum recently. It was our second visit to the museum. Its such an interesting place. Upon arrival the staff are very welcoming and offer a free guide leaflet listing all the interesting parts of the museum. You get a real sense of hard the working life was of the slate miners. There is a café located on this site. We stopped over for coffee and cakes 🎂. This museum is well situated close to the centre of Llanberis a short walk 🚶‍♀️ from all the local amenities. You must definitely pop in . It's free but please offer a donation to support the upkeep. We had an excellent visit 😀 👍🏻

Very good place to visit. Loads of things to see and most surprisingly kids did not get bored. They were interested during the movie (How to steal a mountain) and also the slate splitting demonstration, two activities that I would recommend not missing. Free entrance so you can buy something on the cafe shop and souvenir shop. Reasonable prices and good quality on both.

Great place. Friendly staff. Good café. Really interesting displays. You get to see a live demonstrating of skate cutting and can see everything as it was back in the day in the huge workshops. The big water wheel is impressive as well.

It's a good day out for the family with plenty to do in the museum and in the surrounding area. Entry to the museum is free so you can't argue with that. The staff are nice and friendly and very informative. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

One of the most interesting experience and undervalued things to do in North Wales. Being a free museum, I expected a small and not so attractive museum, but it surprised me and was one of the most interesting experiences. The flow is excellent, the information good, the representation also. It was pretty big and has lots of interest zone. If you are into it you can easily spend half a day in there. From time to time, there are free shows with live demonstrations with cutting slates, making an iron spoon etc. The shop is also very nice and you can find there nice souvenirs (which I didn't see anywhere else)

Visited here on a Saturday morning. The museum is free to enter, walked to the museum so unsure on the cost of the parking. It is a very interesting place and has a selection of different things to look at including miners cottages. A short walk from the museum there is the former hospital, unfortunately it was closed during our visit though.

Nice place to visit. Free to enter .parking was £5 with machine. Take cash as the card machine was not working so changed 5 pound note from the museum. They do demonstrations through out the day in English and Welsh.we only went for a coffee as we have been before. We park ther to do the trail walks that are around the area .

A very interesting place. With a steam engine that you can take to the end off the line with excellent views of snowdonia. A good photo 📸 opportunity.

Lovely musuem, rich in local history that is free to enter! We particularly enjoyed the slate demonstration and loved the fact that the guy doing this was fourth (I think!) generation of slate miners so had loads of knowledge and hilarious stories to tell. My husband also loved the machine shop and tried to convince me that he needed one of the big lathes (absolutely not!). We spent around three hours here, but would have been longer if it wasn't raining!

Fab museum lots to see. Lovely surroundings too. Well laid out museum. Good videos and nice in person demo of how to slice slate and the tools they use. Nice to see the workers terraces rebuilt as they would have through time. Lovely cafe and nice gift shop too. Can't believe its a free museum. Easy to park and lots to see around the museum too like the railway and walks by the water.

Free to get in, although you have to pay for parking. It is very interesting if you like mining, quarrying, or engineering. A place to visit on a wet Welsh day

Excellent museum, staff are really friendly. The demonstration of the slate cutting was really interesting. Well worth a visit, child friendly and also plenty of access for wheel chairs.

Spent a slightly damp hour or so here. Dog friendly in about 50% of the site. Interesting 18 minute film about slate mining and a 5 minute demonstration of slate splitting and dressing. Cafe served delicious pasties, sausage roll, soup and sandwiches.

Brilliant place for a full day out. Enjoy the history of slate making in North Wales. See how people lived in the late 1800's through til the 1960's

We're staying not far from here and planned to visit this castle as a part of our trip. With an initial trouble to find a parking spot, then climbing the steepest road in the UK, we managed to get there. The castle is a well maintained with, at the time of our visit, volunteers dressed for the atmosphere and teaching kids some medieval arts. We enjoyed the views and walks.

Not sure if it is worth the money. But I think it is important to pay for the upkeep. £8 to get in. Great viewing tower. Difficult to find parking as only 20 spaces, but you can park in the town/village for free up to 1hour.

This was a great experience and well worth the money. The ruin is in pretty good condition considering what it has been through and I'm not surprised its a world heritage site. It only loses one star because, on the day we went, there was construction work on the top walkway which means we didn't have access to this area. Plenty of other things to see though and we were not disappointed. Parking is difficult though as all car parks are small and we visited in the summer hols!

First visit in years, fabulous castle with the majority of the walls intact. Ongoing work to improve access to the walls and towers. The staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. We visited on a day when there was a reenactment going on which was great to see. Not too busy, still enough room to move around and explore. Great cafe and shop, amazing views from castle walls. Highly recommended place to visit if you're visiting the area!

If you turn left upon leaving the 🚂 station you can walk to the Castle via the World’s Steepest Street❗️It will be a warm up if you plan to go down to the Watergate and up the South-West Turret whilst on your 🏰 visit. A fantastic way to spend an hour or so, particularly on a dry day. Paid at the entrance rather than booking online.

My favorite castle in Wales (out of seemingly hundreds). Probably because it's such a classic castle shape with massively high walls that you can still climb and walk almost all the way around. It's perched on a cliff with amazing views across the planes to the sea. It's also got a great cafe, playground, picnic area, shop, and video introduction.

Beautiful castle set into a beautiful location. Very well maintained, with a small carpark in front, gift shop and great café. Very clean toilets. The views are absolutely stunning from the walls and we had a very windy and overcast day. Very welcoming staff and local people.

A lovely old castle with plenty to see. Stunning views if you can climb the narrow stairs. Plenty of information boards around giving the history of the castle and how people lived there. There's limited parking that belongs to the council not the castle. The road to reach the castle is very narrow and has a few sharp uphill turns!!

Friendly staff greeting on arrival, no waiting times although it was busy there. Would recommend using the car park a short walk up the hill as the castle car park was very busy,it filled up very quickly & got quite congested. The castle itself is amazing , it still has the 4 turrets & moat with enough of the ruins left to get a real feeling of the history of it. The views are fantastic. You can access the walkway around the top of the castle,although wouldn't reccomend for anyone with a fear of heights or bad knees. 120 steps on a spiral staircase. We'll worth a visit.

Amazing and imposing castle in a stunning location on top of a hill overlooking the Irish sea. Great views! Reasonable accessibility to the ground floor of the castle, but some cobbles to contend with.

A beautiful castle in a beautiful part of Wales. Parking outside the castle is very limited. As it was a very wet and windy day, we managed to get a space. (Parking is cash only) The castle itself is beautiful. Steeped in history with lots of information around telling the history of the castle. Reasonable entrance fee. £23 for a family of 4. (2 adults, an 11 year old and a 4 year old). There was also a fun game to play where we had to collect letters to make words and then collect a prize at the end. Amazing views from the castle even with the weather conditions. The reason I've given this a 4 instead of a 5 is because, even though dogs are allowed in the castle and the shop, they are not allowed in the cafe which i find strange. We were told we could sit outside but the weather was awful so we had to go elsewhere that was dog friendly. Otherwise, a lovely few hours and would recommend a visit here if you are in the area.

Really great example of a coastal castle. Very much still intact and with lots of areas for the kids to explore. Very Very windy so be careful with little ones if going up to the top walkway. Pricey at £24.40 for a family, but not bad if you can string it out for a couple of hours.

Enjoyed the walks around the castle. Dogs welcome but only ground floor. Stunning views from the top. Small car park got busy quickly. Best to go early. Nice cafe and gift shop.

This is a must see if you're in the area! The staff are really friendly and the views from the top of the castle are truly outstanding! The history of the castle is great to learn about too! Tickets can be purchased on entry for under £10 each and I personally feel like it's well worth it as proceeds go towards ensuring the castle is maintained and restored.

This is a beautiful castle. It is not really wheelchair friendly as you can go in but not much further. My family went everywhere and enjoyed the experience. The staff are friendly and helpful too.

Magnificent visit. Lovely cafe, with indoor and outdoor seating (and blankets!). Well maintained castle, with recently installed railings on the battlements which helped the kids feel safe up there. Fascinating history, beautiful setting. Kids and grown ups loved it.

Had a great time here, the castle and surrounding views are gorgeous. Couldn't recommend this place to people enough! There is also a couple of cute little shops and cafes around it too.

Very impressive medieval castle! Shame the way of visit is not signposted, we went around a few times trying to find the way to the top! It takes about 45 minutes to visit with spectacular views to the sea.

We visited on a very wet and very windy February day. The staff at the entrance are all extremely friendly and we were greeted with smiles. The cost to get in is very reasonable. The information in the video at the start is very interesting and helps you understand and appreciate the castle more. The castle itself is beautiful, and the information boards very easy to locate and understand. We did the wall walk despite the weather, and can only imagine how beautiful the views are when it's a clear day. The cafe also serves a lovely selection of hot and cold food and drinks. Overall a lovely few hours out and a day well spent

As Castles go I'd say it was pretty good value and not a rip off like some others. Pay and display car park is very small but there is another not far away. I imagine the whole place is rammed in full season with narrow roads full of cars.An interesting twisty drive there with some cracking views all around but many 20mph stretches of road through the villages. The cafe in the visitor centre was pretty good offering Welsh Rarebit for lunch which was pretty tasty. The ice cream shop up the road also offered some great scoops. Not a bad day out all in all.

An amazing castle, very well maintained. Lots of rooms to see and the upper levels are available to walk all the way around too. The views from the top are well worth seeing.

Harlech Castle is set high overlooking the valley The cafe sits alongside and offers great panoramic views. Tables inside and out lead on to walkway entrance to the castle. Nice sandwiches and cake. Good service and reasonable price. Car park has chargers for EVs

Excellent! Lots of history to read through, brilliantly kept grounds, and great that they've employed a one-way system so that you're not having to move over in narrow stairwells. Great for those that aren't put off by a good few steps to get up the turret. A very impressive castle for one that was built so quickly (for the time). Recommend and happy with the adult ticket price, too. And excellent views (as you'd expect for a castle), especially on a clear, sunny day.

This is another great place to visit if in Wales. It's not the biggest castle in the area but one of the cheapest and also has one of the best views from the top. This is another place with a filled history for those interested in and we'll worth the visit. This is another dog friendly place.

Love to wander around a castle and there are plenty of places to wander here. Up onto the battlements, in the turrets and out to the front of the castle where you can see the sea and surrounding hills.

Harlech is one of the most impressive castles in Wales ( I think). It might not be as big as Carnarvon or Beaumaris but it has a spectacular location and it is such an enjoyable site to wander around. It's worth going in just to have lunch or a coffee at the cafe directly opposite the entrance to the castle. The tea was good ( and they gave me a hot water top up when I asked - really kind!). There were lots of cakes to choose from (I had orange/almond) and the Welsh rarebit us one of the best I've had in Wales. Good colour on the cheese, lots of flavour and good bread. So many people have written about the castle so I'll focus on other points. There are toilets available near the cafe and a large gift shop. Unfortunately parking is not free ( even for Cadw members) but it's not too much - about 2 pounds an hour

An awe inspiring castle in a fantastic position. Cafe wonderful with blankets provided for outdoor seating. Impressive and memorable.

The helmets are absolutely disgusting. I picked one up and it stank. I swapped it for a slightly less smelly one. My wife's was just as bad as the first. This needs to be sorted as a priority. That said. We had an amazing time at the bounce below which is not just a load of trampolines in a cave but a multilevel bouncing experience with slides and tunnels suspended above an old quarry cave. My 4yo and 7yo girls loved it and so did we. The slides could do with a clean or something as they are not slippery so you have to shuffle down them even with the provided mats you are barely moving. A proper workout of the legs as it is constantly moving. Be careful of smaller kids as you have no way of knowing when you might fall over. Quite expensive at £102 for two adults 2 children for an hour.

We had a great time doing two activities at Zip World. Did the Titan zip line and the caverns. Really enjoyed both experiences but the caverns really surprised us. The course was longer than we thought and really cool doing it all underground. One thing that stood out was all of the staff were very friendly,always smiling. Definitely worth a visit.

Oh my word. I'm an anxious mess but this place was awesome. At first when we got in there and everyone started jumping at different weights and angles I felt a bit sea sick. But as soon as we moved up or down a level where there was less people this subsided straight away. Wasn't too many people when we went considering we booked the 1 o clock slot. Use the mats for the slides else you won't really budge. The cave is a little damp. One of the paths I walked up I slid back down. There was ropes to pull myself up. Challenging and fun 🥰 Fairly easy. It's not as easy as trampolining. I stretched before I went. I am a bit extra about things but I'm 27 and came back with no aches 😇 If your thinking of going. Get it done. Amazing place. They have done such a good job of it.

We did the deep cave tour and it was a great tour and informative, best buy tickets at the ticket office as the tickets cost more online, that goes for all activities at Zip World as well. Be prepared for it being chilly as it's around 7°c down there.

We loved this place! At first it is a big price to stomach and that nearly put us off. It did mean we only did the titan zip line. But it was great. Staff being kind, funny and friendly made the whole thing amazing. It's also very dog friendly so we could stay with our packed lunch after! The zip line does feel super safe so even though you are scared, it is safe and they double check each other. They are so good with the kids too! Only thing I would say.....please stop being card only. I really hate that. As a mum, it's annoying as our kids get picket money. You have a shop with things aimed at them to want to buy, buy they can't buy because you won't take the perfectly legal tender. That's not fair. And as parents we are expected to teach them about money, but how can we when they can't use it?! And no, a bank card is not the same, and they can't even have one until they are 11 anyway....please let them spend thier cash 🙏

We done the deep mine tour and bounce below. Both were brilliant and exciting for our family. Would definitely go back and also try the other activities.

Thoroughly enjoyed the trip, learnt more about how important this facility is to make the UK run as it does. Learnt how it makes the electricity that we take for granted every day like turning on a kettle or charging our phones. The history is very interesting also with what it used to be like many years ago. One thing I didn’t really like was that we couldn’t take any phones, cameras, camcorders etc into the mountain with us which was a bit of a bummer but oh well. The little cafe had nice drinks and snacks to get while waiting for the trip to begin. Overall it is a very good experience that I would recommend to people reading this to go and check out. Also on the website you are supposed to print tickets but they understand that not everyone has a printer with them.

Booking system was terrible and customer service is extremely bad. Manager is trying to fight us for the money 💰. They keep saying to check in at reception and the tour starts downstairs and they won't give us a refund. Total waste of money and time.

A coach tour through the tunnels, of which there seems to be miles, move you through the mountain. The tour is guided and very informative. There are information boards to explain different parts of how the hydro electric station works. It can be a bit boring for younger children and due to time restrictions it can feel a bit rushed at times. Still worth a visit though if you are in the area.

Went on the tour with family today, two young children 9 and 5. The tour guide Ken earned this a fourth star for his effort and involving our two in a little underground experiment. I thought the place was really interesting, staggering size and scale of the engineering. Hour long trip was just about the right time for the kids but I could have stayed down there much longer. I usually can’t wait to get out of the shop at the end of tours but ironically the lack of a shop or catering facilities at the site whilst renovations drag on is a real disappointment. Would have got more stars if we had had the full experience.

Having driven up from Cardiff, for a long weekend, this was a pleasant surprise. The site is amazing, and definitely not something that you will find anywhere else. well priced. The tour guides were very friendly and knowledgeable. Even the bus driver was an ex-school teacher, able to keep the younger children enthralled with the mechanics of the sites construction and operation. The cafe and visitor centre could do with a bit of a refresh - there were no menus out when we visited, and so did not know what food options were possible. Also we did not know that there was a climbing wall there until we were leaving. Some improved signage would have helped.

Excellect tour, well worth the visit. Tours have to be booked in advance unfortunately, but easily done online the night before. Would have liked to have got closer to the action at times, and see some whirling turbines up close. When we visited it was during a maintenance period, and what we saw was in a state of repair, but still interesting never the less. Thoroughly enjoyed by all the family, Jan the tour guide was superb !

The Visitor Centre is on the A486, about 1.4km from the Dinorwig Hydro Power Station, which is within a tunnel deep under the mountains. The Centre's setting itself is very attractive with the mountains as the backdrop. Visitors are taken by coach into the tunnel. First thing to do is to book tickets at the Centre. There's a decent restaurant where one could have something to eat or drink while waiting. If you have a longer wait, I would advise paying a visit to the National Slate Museum which is 950 metres away. It's free and could be an eye-opener. The power station is a great engineering feat. Off-peak electricity is used to pump water from the lake at ground-level into a reservoir at the top of the mountain. The water is then released at times of high demand to generate power. Mobiles phones, hand bags, rucksacks etc are not allowed. Lockers are provided at reception. The 45-minute tour is interestingly presented by the tour guide. You'll come out knowing where the blast of energy for the nation's cuppa is coming from.

We've been here for the forest coaster and it was the best thing ever. Money well spent, what a thrilling experience! I'm so happy we've found this place, honestly. The location of this place is absolutely beautiful, well organised and maintained, friendly and knowledgeable staff, absolutely recommended to anyone. Get out there and have fun! 🤩

A brilliant place! The Zip Safari, high in the forest canopy is amazing! Stunning views and challenging obstacles, all linked by zip wires. The Tree Hoppers Course is great for smaller kids and the Coaster is good fun. Staff are very professional, ensuring that safety is a priority, but keeping the whole experience fun. Big car park. Reasonable food and drink. Amazing views and a great day out. Would highly recommend, the kids have a great time in a beautiful place.

A must try in UK! You can get 20% off when you bought 2nd facilities. The forest coaster has 3 rides, and if you buy their video they would give you one extra ride, which means you could have 4 rides! For people who did not want to play plummet, go try the Sky ride! So much fun and the view is fascinating!

Amazing adventure with all the family. The staff were fantastic, friendly and helpful at all times. The track cars were fast and sharp. The kids said it was absolutely brilliant! Highly recommended for everyone! Get ready to find your inner child.

Great day out, highly recommend coming here. The roller Coaster was fantastic and really fast. And the kids high wire was great plus quite large, will keep them busy for a while.

Had lots of fun, booked for the forest coaster which was very fun; you can slow down and speed up using the levers whenever you want and you get 3 goes each. Also went on the tree hoppers with a younger sibling which was fun for him but also for me as if I'd never been on a zipline before even if it was mainly for younger children. Also your second activity gets a 20% discount if you paid for one that day.

Had a great family experience with our 4 year old. We did the treetop nets, it was perfect for her and lots of fun for all ages. You get an hour on the nets which is perfect amount of time. We especially liked the donut slide We had lunch in the little cafe and all had burgers which were very tasty and severed quickly Will definitely return when she is a bit older and taller to do the other activities

Really lovely place. We only went on the forest coaster, but even with a 5 and 7 year old there were two other activities we could have booked. Forest Coaster was clearly the busiest activity. Overall really great outdoor activity even in the rain.

Great experience in the forest zip park... kids enjoyed the forest coaster. It was really fun for kids to enjoy the rids. There are lots of free spaces for parking . The toilets were clean and well maintained. Great customer services and staff were professional ..

Just the best. We only did the toboggan through the forest, although there are other exhilarating activities to do. At first, I was scared at how high the cars went before they rode down, but when I completed the first course, I was excited to go again. You get 3 goes, and it is brilliant because you control your speed, although you only break slightly if you are plunging round the tight corners. My partner didn't hit the breaks once until he got to the end. My boys loved it. 😍

What a wet and miserable day but made totally fun by our couple of hours spent here. The Zip Coaster was good fun, with 3 goes for your money. What a laugh as we challenged each other not to brake at all! Plenty of free parking, and the staff were great. Money well spent and recommended

Fantastic! Whole family had a go on the forest roller coaster which was a lot of fun and something unique in the UK, I think. You get 3 runs down for the price. Well maintained, great forest location. Also did the swing which was fun. Cafe was good, nice and warm.

Came for the Fforest coaster with my husband and three year old son. We all loved it, our son was shouting to go faster! Big thanks to the two guys Jack and Steve. We also enjoyed the pine run, you can purchase one ball for 2.50 or two balls for 4. Which is a lovely souvenir. Definitely returning for the swing! And telling family and friends to try out the coaster.

We specifically visited this location to experience the Fforest Coaster, and it proved to be a worthwhile investment. For a mere £25, you will receive three coaster rides. The initial ride serves as an orientation, while the second and third rides offer the opportunity to request an action camera to capture your reactions. Additionally, you have the option to take multiple rides.

Absolutely epic experience. We only did the fforest coasters at this site but it was brilliant. Family of 4, for less than £100 and it was 100% worth it. Videos of each descent are around £8. The staff were friendly, helpful and polite. My only criticism was that we were told to get there 30 mins early… however that was pointless as we were then waiting in a queue for 30 mins. People for our time slot turned up at the exact time and were right behind us but that didn’t take anything away from the experience.

We had a week in Wales with the main intention of doing all the various Zipworld activities. We ended up spending more with them than we did on our cottage for the week! It's expensive but worth it for the unique experiences they offer. Our third and final visit was to the FForest Coaster at Betws-y-Coed. We had only pre-booked the coaster but also did the swing, plummet (twice) and had a second set of goes on the coaster. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed it. The activities were great fun and the staff were all extremely friendly. My daughter initially did plummet by herself and then persuaded me to do a tandem jump with her. I thought the big swing might make me sick (the only ride at theme parks I dislike is the pirate ship) but it turns out the g-force is to intense to think about your stomach at all! The coaster was definitely the main event and we're already looking where we might be able to do another when we visit Canada this summer. After doing the first couple of runs with no brakes (to prove how tough I was), I actually discovered the braking gently just before the corners actually increases the intensity and prevents the auto-braking from kicking in. We also had lunch in the snack-bar and a coffee in the cafe at the bottom. A great day out finished with a lovely walk around Betws-y-Coed afterwards.

Really enjoyed it here. I went on the tree net thing & the coaster. Coaster was my favourite & the staff were so polite & informative. The price was a bit on the high side but it was an experience.

Family experienced the Fforest Coaster (I held the bags) and thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were great, especially those in the reception and check-in who couldn’t have done more. It all still runs except for the in the worst weather so even though it was a bit rainy it’s something amazing to do. Make sure you grab at least one video of your experience. It’s worth it.

Highly recommend. A well managed, fun adventure for the whole family. We booked the middle level canyoning as my youngest was 10 years old and they all love the water. My husband (non participant) took the walking route with our dog and caught a lot of the action from the sides as George and Rachel helpfully directed him. The safety advice was clear and simple. Lovely points of interest were highlighted on the way which made the trip even more exciting for the kids (and secretly educational too). We all had a blast! Thanks so much guys

A group of us went along and did the canyon extreme and absolutely loved every minute of it. George was a great instructor and made it a really fun experience. Would highly recommend and we will be coming back to do it again.

3 hours of pure outdoor fun. Canyoning with George was fantastic; he made everyone in the group feel welcomed and safe throughout the session. All the equipment and kit provided was great. We all felt safe and George ran through each of the sections throughout the day, explaining where to be careful and how to navigate the pools and jumps properly. The jumps into the water were incredible, really got the adrenaline pumping as did the abseiling sections. I’d definitely return for another visit in future. It’s a fantastic way to spend a day out in nature in stunning Wales.

Absolutely loved extreme canyoning, 11 year son said was amazing. George talked through everything and offered help if he could and needed if needed. Highly recommend.

We did Extreme Canyoning and Climbing with George over the weekend. He was great fun, switched on and split the group out based on ability so we could get more done. This was really good as it meant we got more jumps in while canyoning. It was just our group for the climbing and he was flexible with times to get the best weather and best climbs in. Great guy and highly recommend both activities. Challenging and loads of fun.

Done the extreme canyoning as a family of 4, ages ranging between 13 and 62 and we had the best time. George was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the area we were in. He made us feel safe and confident in what we were doing. The canyoning was even better than we expected, with waterfall slides, an abseil and big jumps. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to give it a go. And the water wasn't even that cold. Thanks again George and Rachel.

Absolutely cracking trip canyoning down the stunning gorge. Would highly recommend it. Very clear and well spoken instructions all the way down from George and Rachel which gave us all confidence.

Cute little railway alongside the lake, very picturesque and beautiful scenes all along the route. The train will remind you of Thomas the tank engine. The engines are steam engines. The whole experience feels nostalgic and idyllic! Loved it. The tickets are not too expensive and totally worth it. One star less as I'd have loved to be on it for longer or have the stop in between for 15 min to soak in the lake scenery more.

Regular trains, no need to book in advance. Take a look at the current timetable before you arrive maybe. A wonderful experience, great views and the joy of the stream train! This journey takes you along the lake and back again from Llanberis, you can get off on the way back for 5 minutes, or even 15 minutes at the slate museum. Your tickets will still be valid on a later train if you want to get back on. The guard was really helpful and informative. Good wheelchair access if you need. Take advantage of the discount for multiple people. Dogs welcome for £! Almost an hour there and back, did I mention the wonderful views!

Enjoyed trip. It starts at Slate Museum, back to Llanberis then along North shore of lake before returning to slate museum with a brief stop at picnic site along way to stretch legs. We were lucky to get large front half compartment of carriage to ourselves (probably due to pram) which is wheel chair accessible. Beautifully vanished interior. That is mirrored glass at the end. You pay per compartment which vary hugely in size. The carriages were all different, with each having different seating arrangements, with screens between each compartment. Most compartments had 4 seats. Cafe at station was mediocre.

Lovely views and pulled along by a steam train with carriages that were comfortable and sectioned off. Good value for money and a nice way to spend an afternoon. Ideally we would have liked more of a destination at the end, instead of just coming back the other way, but I understand that it is historically a working line, so they didn't necessarily think of tourism then! Sweet little railway with helpful, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Just across the road from the Snowdon railway and we did both trains in the same day, with plenty of time for lunch in between. Well worth a visit.

Cute little train ride along the lake, some beautiful views, it lasts about an hour, several departures throughout the day. Nice little cafe and gift shop as well. Playground for the kids. The train ride is dog friendly as well.

Only 4 star because I felt the line could be a little longer. But on the positive side: proper narrow gauge steam engine hauling the old wooden coaches. Nice view of the lake as you go past. Places to walk and picnic in the area. Gift shop and cafe at the main station with parking (need to pay). Also on site is the National Slate Museum - worth a visit as well. I spent a few hours there so I would say it's worth going.

An interesting little heritage railway run by real enthusiasts. At the moment tickets purchases are for a compartment that will at a push seat 6 for the short run up and down the lake. You can get right up close to the steam engines and all kids there seemed to love it

Got lucky by buying a ticket on arrival but strongly recommended you prebook as it is popular. Excellent access for wheelchair users with a ramp onto the train if required. Stunning views of the lake and a round trip takes about an hour. Small but functional cafe serving teas, coffees and snacks but not main meals. Gift shop too. Friendly, helpful, welcoming staff. Parking is free for disabled. Take note that toilets for the whole site including the Slate Museum.are situated in the centre of the car park. There are no toilets at the station.

Beautiful views. Very whimsical and suited for lovers who enjoy to go to the library when it’s raining or you just like nature. However it is best to go on a sunny day and to wear sunglasses as the sun bounces off the water. You get a chance to take photos when the train reaches its end. The conductor is a jolly man who used to be a principal (if I remember correctly). On the plus side, they do a family ticket (2 kids and 2 adults) very affordable. You’re allowed to bring dogs on board and there is a tuck shop which sales snake including hot drinks.

Had a great experience on Llanberis lake railway. Worth a trip on the small steam-engine train. Its a nice trip along the lake for around twenty minutes and back.

Great little railway. Visited off peak (weekday in September) and a single steam train was still running! Staff were friendly, train was smart and well presented and the journey was amazing, shame about the Welsh weather though! Dogs allowed (£2) and an adult return (£10) was well priced too!

Cute train journey near a lake. It’s lasts around 1 hour and the view is beautiful. The staff on the train is very friendly. There is several departures each day. Check on their website the timetable to not wait too much time at the station. The ticket is quite cheap, it’s great value for money!

School holidays so had 2 of our grandsons for the day. Both love trains so we looked for somewhere we hadn't been before to take them. The boys loved the train & scenic route along the lake. Lovely cafe there too with a range of both cooked meals & snacks etc all reasonably priced. No doubt we will return again in the summer 🌞

Lovely day out. Beautiful views, very reasonably priced, traditional carriage per family and dog friendly. Train driver was very friendly and stopped a couple of times giving us photo opportunities and chance to grab a drink from the picnic spot

Very nice beach with majestic views. Good for dog walking especially on cooler days as no need to worry about coming across too many other people or dogs if your dog doesn’t like either. The sand dunes are a bit difficult to get over but still worth it, especially if you get to catch sight of any dolphins in the distance.

This probably one of most beautiful beaches in UK. Short walk from the parking. Not commercial at all. A nice golf course right next to it.

In my humble opinion the best beach in the whole UK. Perfect soft and golden sand, extensive and flat wet sand (with the low tide obviously) with little pools for the little ones. Beautiful dunes. Half left side, dogs allowed, the other half, only humans and seagulls. Parking is few minutes walk with toilet and ice cream van. Please, this doesn't need more facilities. It's a gem. The only but, of course, the weather but this would be better than the Caribbean with great weather.

Absolutely loved the beach. Exactly what I was looking for. It’s soooo beautiful, clean and spacious. Took my Dog there for his first beach experience and it was super dog friendly. He had the best time and so did we. The water was so clean and the sand was also so clean and it wasn’t crowded.

A lovely beach with plenty of space for people to spread out, relax, play and just enjoy the beach. Dog freindly, but spoiled by a few irresponsible owners who let their dogs run wild, bothering/chasing other dogs and running at people. Hence the dropped star. Having said that, it is a good sandy beach with glorious sunsets and worth a visit.

Super nice views and sandy beaches. You have to bring your own picnic. Combine it with a visit to the castle.

Fantsatic beach, which is very long and very wide. We went on a busy day and was easy to find a secluded spot. Dog friendly all year round with one half being dog friend during peak months, the other reserved just for the less-furry humans. During windier days the walk there can feel a bit like being sand-blasted if walking over the dunes, but settles down once you're on the beach itself.

Been on my visit list for many years...eventually got there. Being a photographer i was hoping for those dream conditions but unfortunately the weather was overcast...there was still ice about from the cold snap so i wore my crampons. Stunning location and i had it all to myself...spent an hour and half down there. It didn't disappoint 🙏

Came here first after landing in Manchester. Yes, it's a bit of a drive, but pleasant. We were still a bit frazzled and tired when we arrived. The walk was absolutely beautiful. The river spot at the end felt magical. So worth it. By the time we walked out we were relaxed and content. Perfect start to our vacation. It does have some grade, steep stairs, and can get slick in the rain so good shoes are a must. Moderate hike.

Such a beautiful place. Really must see! Run by a lovely lady who came to welcome us and talk about farm and absolutely stunning sheeps- what a treat, so thank you for that. The entrance is as little as a pound, and pound for a car park, such a bargain for what you get. A waterfall is on a steep side, so watch where you put your feet- but you are in the mountains so what to expect! There is a very well kept path leading to more rocky side of the river and fairy waterfall itself, so if you feel brave, walk to see the magnificent world of fairies, magical!

Magical hidden gem in North Wales. The riverside walk is nice and the views are spectacular. It is £1 parking and per head which is well worth the money. Climbing on to the rocks is a good battle so make sure you wear the right shoes. One of the best places to visit in the UK, would definitely recommend.

The Fairy Glen was a lovely hike! Parts of it are slippery and steep, especially if you go all the way to the end. But we went with my mother in law who is in her 70's, and most of the hike was fine for her; she sat on one of the many benches at a lookout point and waited for us at the steepest part. The paths are all well kept up and there are lots of places to stop and look at the view or take a break, and several benches along the way to sit on if you need to. The Glen itself was absolutely stunning! Great for families.

£1pp entry and a short, picturesque stroll along scenic fields takes you to the edge of Fairy Glen. A steep scramble down stone steps and rocks and you're in fairy glen itself. We took a picnic which we shared with a young, inquisitive Robin and took a moment to just relax and unwind to the sound of running water and the wind in the trees. A lovely little oasis. Might not be the best for those unsteady on their feet or unable to manage steep uphill/downhill inclines on rock and uneven steps. But for those who can manage it it's worth the walk.

Beautiful place! Worth the small hike there for sure! It is in private land so you will have to pay the nice lady 1 pound for parking and 1 pound pr person walking to the Glen. She came outside when we were parking. Watch your steps if it is raining or wet. There are a lot of opportunities for slipping on the rocks near and in the Glen.

This is a very special place and area. A beautiful, peaceful walk by the river. Once you get to the stone, steps to go down towards the river can be slippery. However if you're careful all should be well. It's incredibly silent even though the running water is noisy. Excelent place to reflect on nature and life itself. Something to point out here is that you will need to pay £1 per head and £1 for your car. Fantastic place to visit. It doesn't get too touristy either.

Very peaceful, relaxing place to visit and stay for awhile. Remember to bring coins as they rely on people paying £1 per entry via the honesty box. Would happily contribute £1 to enter as the place is very well kept and maintained

Wow. This is one of the most prettiest places in North Wales. Two very interesting walks. Fairy Glen walk is a bit harder but you cling down the rocks to the river and it is magical. The Riverside walk is an easier walk and so beautiful. The beautiful sheep on the field were friendly and came up to say hello when you walked the path. Saw a lot of birds and squirrels. Will definitely be back for another stroll.

Nice place, worth visiting. Easy walk except for the last few yards to reach the river where the stairs can be slippery. Entrance is pretty cheap.

Stunning location for a stroll. There is a small car park nearby for which you pay £1 in the local honesty box, together with £1 entry per person (although I believe that there is someone waiting to take payment during busy periods). You can also take a short walk here from Betws-Y-Coed or from Conwy Falls just down the road which is also worth a visit if you're in the area.

Took the Pony Path from Ty Nant carpark, lush green hills give way to a stony steps with a light hike through some rocks. Payoffs are beautiful. Dont jam your fingers into the hole at the summit as there may be a centipede there Weather was great, you can hike up in a T shirt in September but bring a sweater and/or jacket in case the weather turns.

Steep walk via the Minfford Path. Beautiful scenery and route finding is easy in clear conditions.

Good sized car park, £3 for 4 hours or £6 until midnight, card and cash machines. Toilets at the carpark. One of the less busy mountains, was a good hike. Check weather and visibility before visiting.

Stunning lake and waterfalls throughout this hike. It's quite challenging and the whole hike takes c.5 hours so be prepared!

Not the easiest but a great walk. Steep in spots but the views make up for it. Unfortunately the upper reaches were in cloud for me, but still relatively easy route finding by sticking to the main path. Incredibly windy at the trig point so the nearby shelter was very welcome.

Definitely a gem amongst Welsh mountain hikes. Fully recommended just based on the views and experience. You can easily see all the way down to the shore from the summit(s). Consider doing a whole horseshoe instead of just walk to the top as it takes roughly the same time 👍 👀 All day parking for £6 with toilet available.

Our favourite mountain, it's got everything! Challenging and varied climb, fantastic surrounding views and stunning range of peaks, plenty of swimming spots and great choice of camping nearby… yes it gets busy at peak season but not as busy a Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon!

Highly recommend taking the Minffordd path up the mountain, you get stunning views at every turn!

I recently embarked on a trekking adventure with my family to Penygader, and I must say, it stands out as one of the finest trekking routes among the plethora of options Wales has to offer. Without a doubt, it deserves a solid five-star rating. The scenery along the Penygader trail is simply breathtaking. As we traversed through the rugged terrain, we were treated to awe-inspiring vistas of stunning lakes and picturesque landscapes. The beauty of the surrounding nature truly exceeded our expectations and left us in awe at every turn. However, I must admit, we encountered a slight hiccup on our descent. Due to a wrong turn, we found ourselves navigating a steep, slippery path downwards. Nevertheless, even this unexpected challenge couldn't detract from the overall splendor of the experience. Penygader's charm lies not only in its natural beauty but also in the sense of adventure it offers to all who dare to explore its trails. It's a place where unforgettable memories are made and where the wonders of nature come to life in the most spectacular way. In conclusion, despite the minor setback during our descent, Penygader remains a standout destination for trekking enthusiasts seeking unparalleled beauty and adventure. It's an experience that will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

One of my favourite walks in the UK! Great walk, not easy but well worth it. It not being easy is a bonus as it means it’s not as busy as Snowdon or Pen Y Fan. I would choose this over both of these unless you are talking about Crib Goch. Very picturesque location and it is possible to turn it into a loop instead of a “there and back” if you want to.

Some say this is harder than some of the Snowdon routes. It was on par from what I remember. More steps so I have serious calf ache the day after. The views are amazing and we had military planes training overhead!

One of the most inspiring places on earth. So much so it is said that Enoch mapped the stars from his seat upon the top of the mountain. The peaks on this mountain line up to form the plough constellation, and the entire region maps all the constellations in both the northern and southern hemispheres. Previously, I had taken the stairs up this time I took the pony trail. A bit easier and less dangerous but still a tough walk.

Was definitely worth the climb up for the breath taking view Highly recommend going here for an hidden gem up in the mountains. The water is sooo clear and fresh for a swim.

Great hiking area and the view is absolutely fantastic. It will take 50 minutes to reach the top. It is worth.

Walked from George 111 pub to Dolgellau, about 2.5 miles. Flat path all the way. The dog loved it. We stopped in Dolgellau for a bit of lunch then walked back. It was freezing but well worth the great little walk.

Very easy to follow and flat, easy walking (only about 50m altitude gain over the entire 15km trail). The scenery is initially pleasant, walking on forest paths, but when you get to Penmaenpool, the views really start to open up. The scenery on the final stretch into Barmouth is stunning and the walk over the huge bridge is a great finale to this epic trail. We walked from Dolgellau to Barmouth and obviously you can do it either way, but I imagine the other way wouldn't be as interesting. The Barmouth bridge path ends almost directly opposite a bus stop, where you can catch a bus back to Dolgellau. It's also worth taking the brief detour over the Penmaenpool bridge and back. (The toll is 30p for pedestrians, there was no price for dogs, but I assumed it would be the same price...!)

Really great trail for Cycling, good food stop at the pub near the toll bridge and crossing the bridge over the Estuary to Barmouth is the icing on the cake. Suitable for all the family. Nead more trails like this for safe cycling

Date of walk: August 2021 We did the southside trail on the disused railway line from Dolgellau to Barmouth along the mawddach estuary. Start at the bridge in Dolgellau, there is parking and public toilets available. Shortly into the walk you need to turn right onto the next footbridge to get onto the path. The path is then very flat all the way. Once you pass the George pub there are no toilets until just before Barmouth bridge. The views are stunning as you walk towards the bridge that comes in and out of view. Walk took us 3hrs 28mins Total of approximately 14/15km or 10miles. It could be done with wheelchair however good wheels required.

Good hard surface for all types of bike, plenty of parking and clean toilets along the whole route. Some possibilities for off-piste but essentially a linear ride & return route

Rode from Dolgellau to Barmouth & back, 20 mile round trip. The first stretch from Dolgellau to Penmaenpool is ok but nothing that elevates this particular trail from other ex-railway trails. The real beauty is from then on when the views of the estuary open out all the way to Barmouth. Nice ride.

Flat, well maintained and surfaced cycle route from Dolgellau all the way to Barmouth via the train bridge across the estuary. Fantastically beautiful views across the river, plenty of places to sit down, and impossible to get lost on. Would highly recommend for families or beginner cyclists, all that's needed is a working bike (gravel bike is perfect), though it is possibly a long way for younger children (18 miles return length).

Walked from Dolgellau to Barmouth and back along the trail. Great views, easy level walking and plenty of bird life to spot. Kingfisher, Egret, chiff chaff, oyster catcher and many more

Wonderful cycle way between Dolgellau and Banmouth. Flat, sheltered (mainly), well surfaced, wide enough to cycle two abreast comfortably and chat. Quite busy but we weren't stopping and starting as sometimes happens. When approaching Banmouth leave bikes before bridge and walk over, or there's a little train station on the left a short distance before the bridge (behind the trees).

Free to visit with the added bonus of some spectacular views through the lens of your cameras. If you wish to climb the castle steps to the top then be prepared to navigate steep stairs in a narrow stairways. The views from the top will make your trip worthwhile..

Lovely short walk through woods to this attractive old castle. Part of the tower, and outside walls are all that remain but the tower is accessible via steep spiral steps and offers superb views from the top. To make it even better, it's free to visit.
