The Old Bazar is a must see when in Skopje. Dating back to the 12th century, this is a place full of life filled with culture and history. Filled with shops, restaurants, cafes, mosques, and museums. You can transform your self back to a day gone by filled with people enjoying a day out and or earning a living for them or their families. See little shops with tiny apartments above where people would work during the day and live their lives at night. See the old bath houses. Just an amazing place. I loved my visit.

Old part of town that surprised me with its size, I expected something tiny, but then got lost in a maze of streets before managing to find my way. Here you can find basically everything you need as a tourist for really good prices. The best local food is also found here, look no further.

A great selection of small winding streets with a wide range of shops and restaurants. One of the nicest aspects is that none of the shop keepers are forceful or hassle you when walking past, and it doesn’t have any of the expected pressure you’d imagine when reading up on the area. There’s clearly a lot of history and some nice monuments as you’re passing through, and with plenty of cafes and restaurants you can easily spend a whole day exploring at a leisurely pace. Definitely one of the highlights of the city.

Kind and warm people. Old ottoman vibes. Best area for traditional foods. We visited in December and the weather was being dark around 5 pm. Shops are closing earlier and many of them do not serve on Sunday. If you be careful about timing

Nice vibrant heritage bazar, good for food and shopping. A lot of places selling good foods and plenty of shops. You will find nice suites for men’s and well as gown for women’s and beautiful gold jewellery’s.

This is the “Old Town”, historic pedestrian area of Skopje, across the Stone Bridge, headed away from the main square, below the fortress. Lots of meandering cobblestone alleys, & interesting stores selling antiques & souvenirs & other bric-a-brac. It’s completely dead/ semi-closed on Sundays (don’t bother), but during the week, it’s jammed full of folks shopping, & others selling their wares. At the far end, there’s a big central market that’s really interesting to check out. Lots of fresh fruits & vegetables, along with locally sourced meats & fish & nuts & mushrooms & stuff. The perimeter is lined with small make-shift vendor store-fronts, if you want to buy cheap goods & lots of pirated knock-offs. Has a bit of a sketchy vibe, & there are plenty of Roma begging in the area, which can get a little depressing. Keep a close eye on your goodies, as this looks like a prime place to get pick-pocketed (though I thankfully had no issues, personally). A “must see” in Skopje, as it’s been here forever, & while the goods being sold may have changed, the concept of a major commercial hub for the area, has not.

Amazing!!! Went there few times. A mix of culture and ambiance. Use all your senses when you walk around. Different languages, prayers from mosque and church ring, all products. Very organized and clean. Evening strolls are the best. Despite being popular tourist spot, the prices are local unlike other such places in countries.

The Old Bazaar is by night still full of life and is definitely worth going to. While some of the narrow streets are empty and the shops are clothed, there are some still full of life. People drinking, eating, playing, and one can enjoy the beautiful combination of the dark night and lights. It felt perfectly safe to roam the Old Bazaar even though we sometimes we did not see any person in some of the narrow streets. !The only watch-out are the stray cats and dogs! Also: locals recommended to not go up to the castle by night, so we definitely did not do that.

A nice place to walk around, the deeper into the market the cheaper. You have to watch out for vendors who often want to sell more expensive just because you are a tourist. You can see the multiculturalism in this place and that's cool

Definitely worth a trip here. Walk over from the Alexander the Great statue in the middle of town over the old stone bridge and then walk through the old bazaar - it’s got a Middle Eastern, North African vibe going on. Lots of restaurants and shops and just overall good ambiance. Different to the other parts of the city. Cool vibes here!

One of the coolest attractions in Skopje is great Old Bazaar, where you can buy literally everything. Balkan cheese, sausage, rakija, fruit, clothes... A must-see and shop for me 🤩 Great place, payment by cash only

It is a very authentic region. There are touches of Turkish culture everywhere. The meatballs they call kebab are amazing. You can eat at Kozmos restaurant or Destan Restaurant. You should definitely try Trileçe dessert, one of the important flavors of the region.

Easy shopping market to maneuver, great Turkish tea spots a lot of eatery places and jewelry shops and one can easily purchase a couple of things there. There is a side with all sorts of vegetables and fruits. It was really enjoyable to walk around the place.

Nice old bazar on a cobblestone old city roads , transits you to old era , has cute traditional csfes. Gold jewellery shops, se real handicrafts, carpets, souvenirs shops alongside the roads. Nice mosques & churches nearby . Several tiny lanes to walk & explore. Very enjoyable experience overall .

Very beautiful place where you can find everything you need: food, tea, coffee, sweets, gold, presents and so on and so forth. And good prices. People are also very pleasant.

Its still an adventure….. a great walk if you take your time and check out some of the shop windows. This old part of the city never ceases to amaze me with its old look….. Lake Matka is a must-visit for nature lovers. The lush greenery and natural views are stunning, and you will be mesmerized by the serene atmosphere. Take the #60 Bus from a central Mall to get there. Nice place, but very poorly maintained. A lot of waste and signs of neglecting nature are seen at every step. Parking is a serious issue and police is making iz more complicated.

Should just be a 3 stars hotel rather than a so-called 5 stars hotel! Everything seems old and out-dated. There was no air-conditioning in the room. The room was stuffy. I opened the window but it was very noisy owing to people activity in the square outside. Some of the lamps in the room were not working. The shower room door was broken. There was no electric kettle and coffee or tea in the room. The room was small and there was not enough room to open my 2 luggages and placed them flat on the floor without hindering the walk way in the room. The breakfast is just so-so. Except the good location, I would not recommend this hotel.

Location is fantastic couldn’t be better right in the square with great views of river and castle The shower was awful and very old and didn’t function correctly. More water on the bathroom floor than in the shower, food in bistro was cheap and tasty service was good. Gets very warm in room during the night and if you open windows it’s extremely noisy from people on the square. Did not sleep well and kept waking up due to noise.first impression of room was it’s quote nice but on closer inspection it’s very old and dated.there are no usb phone charging sockets in rooms and reception said they couldn’t help. Couldn’t get the television to operate at all. breakfast wasn’t great and just very basic mainly cold food and some fruit. Generally ok for the price but should be listed as a 3 star rather than 5 star hotel.

Nice clean hotel in excellent location. A bit overpriced for what they offer but I guess you are paying from the name. The restaurant on the top floor has a great view over the river (albeit partially blocked now due to a new building being constructed), but you can get much better food in this town for those prices (but it is OK). The gym is really bad for a hotel this price and expected rating (only three machines, TCC Plaza Hotel has a much better one), this is the main reason they are not getting a full 5 start rating from me, but they have a pool and jacuzzi.

Hotel may be have been good in the past. But no renovations are made. Room smells, bathroom was not clean. Shower cabin was broken and very dirty. Windows dont isolate noices from outside. All night you can hear people talking on the square. Also at 5:20 at the morning muslim mosque starts to "sing" and all dogs on the square start to howl.

I had been a guest at Stonebridge for 4 days. Luxury rooms, warm and always available staff. No 5 stars because the breakfast, that was anyway good, could be better with a wider range of choice. Highly recommended hotel.

This bridge seems to be so solid and strong that you think it will be around here even five thousand years later. And it has already been around here for 600 years!!! A beautiful gem from the Ottomans...

Small museum in the centre of Skopje. A bit of a haven in the hubub of the city. It was actually more interesting than I had originally thought probable. I only really went in out of curiosity and was well rewarded. Free entry to this little place.

A lovely memorial in a very busy and built up area. You’re free to wander round as you wish and while there was a lot of construction taking place next door on the day of my visit, it’s a relaxing spot giving opportunity to reflect. If this is something you think will interest you then it’s worth hunting down.

FREE entrance. Quick visit. Nice photos of Saint Mother Teresa. It is on the site of the old church that was destroyed in the 63 earthquake.

Free of charge. A good exhibition with pictures. Good to show the world how a ordinary girl from Macedonia went and created such a big impact in a country far away: India, through her kindness.

Very nice and quiet location. Inspire the visitors to be better. Also brings you with the legs on the earth underlining the poverty in the world. There you realize that if yoi have the chance to visit this house you are lucky (compering with other people from all over the world that don't even have access to water) So...a good shower that brings you to reality!

A memorial house dedicated to Mother Theresa. Located near the Macedonia square. Easy to walk to from the city center.

It was free to visit there and I liked the place that was actually a museum. With statue of mother Theresa in real size. And many great photos during her life.

Not a lot of people know that Mother Theresa was born in Skopje. Its museum is located in the strict center of Skopje. The entrance is free, and you can learn a lot about her life and life journey. Definitely recommended sightseeing, and you can dedicate 0.5-1h to better enjoy the museum. There is also museum shop.

Beautifully displayed and a sacred place to see Mother Teresa’s birth place. A small chapel in the museum with historical displays. A sweet little museum shop. Entrance fee is voluntary. If you admire Mother’s Teresa encourage you to visit and be inspired to do good while you live.

Nice little house if you are interested in the life of Mother Theresa. It was nice to see although I had expected a bit more informative/ interactive museum here. Still worth visiting here if you are in Skopje.

Mother Teresa is an important figure for humanity, this house has copies her letters, clothes, and personal belongings. They are not original but still one way to pay the respect.

This is one of the most bizzare and "kič" places one can see. It has nothing to do with Mother Teresa in any sense, architecture is delusional, everything is absurd to the limits of human mind. And that's why you should visit it!

Well this place is totally dedicated to her life and you will find most of the information about her life with photographs. Even the childhood photos which are so reminiscing and cherishing in its own way. Thanks to people who look after this place.

Hailing from Kolkata, this memorial house was indeed emotional for us since we know how much Mother Teresa means in our city and in India. Good place to know the history and the journey of the great Saint. However one needs to check the timings effectively before visiting this place. Google timings are not updated.

A quiet place dedicated to Saint Mother Theresa. The museum has a collection of Mother Theresa's life and works, her writings and what Jesus meant to her. Also displays the Nobel prize certificate she had received. There is also a picture which outlines Mother Theresa's timeline from her birth and highlights special achievements. A place worth visiting. Do keep a note on opening times.

Small memorial museum with a small chapel on the top floor. Free entry. It was good to explain to the kids who St Teresa was and how she progressed to being declared a Saint. It doesn’t take long to go through the exhibit but it was interesting and we all learnt something.

It's free of charge and you can wander round the complex at your leisure. The views are lovely and it's close to central Skopje so just go and have a walk round when you're pottering around. On a nice day take a picnic. You can walk along the walls too.

So so much waisted potential. This should be Skopje‘s best tourist destination. A lovely place for a walk and great views of the whole city… wasted. Except for part of the wall that is renovated and a couple of towers, that are also left to the elements to decay, everything else is overgrown. Not a single information board. And be careful you can roam free but it is dangerous, lot of holes and unprotected places where you can fall.

The ammount of potential this place has is just insane. Such an intact fortress of great age, but not enough care nor attention from the local or state authorities. There is trash all over it, some objects are closed off, some aren't even accessible, and what's worst, there isn't a single info tab / sign about the fortress. The view is also amazing.

Old fortress that’s basically a park! Not much information and it’s kinda run down but the views of the city are nice and entry is free. Visit the contemporary art museum next door while you’re here to make the trek up worth it. Be sure to bring water!

There is nothing inside, but the view of Skopje is so good that I didn't regret it. It is free to enter, however finding the entrance might be a bit tricky. You should follow the way to the park next to it, and then walk to the North and you will see the gate. If you want to take great photos and watch the view, you should definitely take a look.

Must visit. Lots of history. And free! (For now at least). It’s a shame that politics are keeping this place from reaching its full potential and attracting even more people. There was some effort 6 years ago and they made great progress and then just stopped. Regardless, get a tour guide and hear about all the history. It’s inexpensive and worth it. There’s parking available, but it’s close to the Old Bazaar and can easily walk to it. Great open space for kids to run around too. Also known as Kale, the historic fortress is located in the old town of Skopje. There is no fee for entry. However the fortress appeared run down and could do with proper maintenance

Still worth a visit although it’s clearly in decline. A walk on the wall gives you nice views on the city. Half of the place is closed due to neglect, but there is no entrance fee so why complain?

One of the coolest attractions in Skopje is the 6th century fortress on a hill, which offers a beautiful view of the city. Nowadays the are ruins of fortress but is nice to see. Entrance is free

Typical Castle in a Balkan City with quite an amount of randomness. Entrance is free. But - enter at your own risk. Watch your step. View is amazing. Also found traces of newer civilizations, which were for sure not medieval...

Apparently, the opening hours are given, but out of date. Open as you want to open. Supposedly paid admission, but no one checks it or stands at the entrance demanding a fee. The views of the city from here are great, but the fort itself is neglected and very dirty in places, you have to be careful and look under your feet, because you can trip up

Such a great and historical fortress with stunning views of the city center. Unfortunately, you can see that there’s no maintenance at all on this place. It’s incredible that the municipal officials haven’t do anything to keep it clean and that will bring way more tourist which means money.

The Millennium Cross on Vodno Mountain in Skopje is on a hill visible from all over the city. Take the cable car to the top of this hill, which is approximately 1500 meters above sea level, and enjoy the view. There is a wonderful picnic area and a small church where the cable car starts.

Best view of the city, and the valleys in all directions. Depending on the time of year a sweater as the temperature drops quite a bit at the top. The gondola only seems to operate the first 30 minutes of each hour, then shuts down. So you have 30 minutes at the top minimum. Not to be missed of you are anywhere near Skopje.

The millennium cross is an impressive installation at the top of the mountain, it’s truly huge. What let’s it down is the bizarre presence of a telecom tower right next to it, why on earth would anyone approve that installation, it could have gone anywhere on the mountain, but for whatever reason, someone thought let’s -op this here so photographers need to be creative trying to capture it.

The views are awesome. But if you don't like hiking, I recommend to check if the cable car is working that day as we went by walk to the middle to get another half by cablecar, but it was not working, so we walked another about 6km up to find out everything was closed so we could not buy a much needed water (40°C). The hike was worth it, just be prepared with your drinks and energy :-)

The Millennium Cross is located on top of the mountain just south of Skopje with awesome views of the city and its surroundings. The hike up there is easy and rewarding and about 5 km long for one way. The cross itself is a monument of steel and has lots of lamps to shine in the night.

Nice place with an amazing view on Skopje. You can reach the top by foot or by cable car/ lift. We hiked up to the lift station and payed ~200 MKD per Person to go up and down (round-trip). You can stay on top as long as you want. There is a kiosk/ coffee place located near the cross.

Cool visit. Be careful, parking lot by cable car is paid but no signs in English. They will boot your car and ask for inflated ticket cost. Make sure you ask around to pay! The city should really replace or add to the signs for a national attraction

Always good to walk up and let your mind refresh. It can be slippery in Fall on the way down if you get on the smaller paths without mountain shoes. But nothing dangerous.

Impressive cable car ride to the top of the mountain. Experience slightly hampered by a scramble for toilets and parking. Beware parking in the official car park requires some local app so we had to abandon the car at the side of the road somewhere.

There is a great view of the whole city Skopje and the hills near. You can get there by cable car.

Great views and very good price! Paid 400MKD for 4 adults taking the cable car. Was our last day in Skopje and were travelling to the Airport after so didn't have time to hike up, if we would have had the time I think hiking up would be the best experience but the view was breathtaking so I'm very happy we went!

It's closed to get up, or at least I understand it was once possible... I am not a big fan of crosses of any size or meaning, but this is very interesting because it's really big. The view from the hill to the city is great. If you want to hike you can hike up, down (or both) or you can save one (or both) ways by a cable car. Just the time table of the cable car remains a mystery for me...

Vodno is Skopje's nature getaway where you can spend the day hiking or simply enjoying the Vodno views. There is a marked path from middle Vodno to the Cross which takes 1 - 1.30 hours to climb or you can take the cable car and you will be up there in no time.

Great ride up to the cracker cross on the cable cars. Very efficient ride. Not as well maintained and lacks services for tourists. Needs better maintenance. It requires tickets about 10.

A perfect place on the map of Skopje. A vantage point, a place to rest or good iced coffee. The cable car is an additional attraction. Moderate prices. It is worth checking the hours of operation of the bus 25.

Super worth it! but make sure you get the cable car down before 16:40! good thing: they accept debit cards !

The cable car is the only nice part of the area, beyond that the stalls in the parking lot are shabby, the toilets in the parking lot are dirty and smelly, at the top everything is dirty, rusty, neglected, a terrible waste of time.

Super place to see the city skyline. Next to the cross is now a tower under construction. The train up and back 100 MKD (around 1.6€) The mountain itself can be easily reached by bus number 25. A good place to go out on a sunny day without smog.

Years ago, when I visted Macedonia for the first time, one of the first things we did was to head up to vodno with the cable car. It is a good start before really beginning to explore the city. On the one side you can enjoy the view on the natural landscapes and on the other side you can look down on the city. At the peak itself you also have the Millenium Cross, which at a time was the tallest cross in the world. Here on Vodno we also met another couple, who later invited us to the old town, giving us a great first impression of Skopje and its people.

Nie hike. At the top you can eat something and change your clothes. There are playgrounds for kids so you can bring them up by lifts if they can't climb the mountain.

Very nice park. Drove up the mountain and was really nice to see park facilities for children at the top. Great place for families and children to play and picnic. Took the cable car to see Millenium Cross. The view at the top of the mountain is breathtaking, coupled with a cup of coffee. It clears your mind and be in awe of what nature can offer. The ridges and beautiful landscape of Macedonia. Really awesome.

The views from Vodno are mind-blowing! You can see the whole of Skopje, the beautiful surroundings and the mountains in the back. Easy accessible by cable car. Make sure to bring some suncream on sunny days.

Big disappointing and waste of time. I've never seen like this museum. It's just big building from the outside. But, the inside is too small and there're just couples of replica sculptures, photos, tools, vases and meaningless rocks and empty rooms. No special history. No air conditioner. It should be free. The building is magnificent, but the museum is very tiny. We didn't expect that it was this small. Small collection of archeological stuff.

Great museum if you are into relics of antiquity - it’s worth visiting for one superb room alone. We also saw a temporary exhibition on the Art and Beauty of Japanese dolls which was superbly curated. Staff communication and efficiency is not a strong point. The building is an architectural horror which reminded me of Las Vegas.

We have visited it in September 2021 and it was very interesting exhibit with items from even Paleolithic period. Most of the artifacts are dating from ottoman and then Neolithic period. There is, also, entire section with statues dating back to Roman times. What is missing, though, is somewhat more of the information on civilizations that artifacts belonged to. Given the geographical location of the North Macedonia and number of civilizations lived here you’d have to research further for different periods who would be the civilization certain items could belong to. Otherwise pretty good exhibit. It’s a must visit if you are visiting Skopje.

I don’t agree with the reviewers who say the museum is almost empty. You have to remember that N Macedonia is a small country. I found what they had was absolutely magnificent. Especially their Neolithic and Early Bronze Age exhibit. Some of which I have never seen the like anywhere in the world. It’s also very high tech and modern, using dark rooms and LED spots on the exhibit cases. One thing I must say though, the woman working behind the ticket counter was shockingly rude. Image us shaming the museum and her country. She should be fired and replaced. A museum caretaker should be a job of joy.

Beautiful museum but small, let's say you need less than 30 minutes to see the whole exhibition. Inside you will find ancient Macedonian figurines and small items like jewelry. Good for the price to be fair and very clean with space to leave your luggage or backpacks

I was incredibly disappointed by this museum. They actually have really cool artifacts, but seem to have dropped the ball on everything except acquisition. We found MULTIPLE things MISLABELED! (One pictured, Spur Asterisks clearly labeled as Sword Handle, and vice versa) which was very shocking. There were also dozens of artifacts lacking labels entirely! Many displayed without numbers, and many numbers listed but not displayed. Many objects removed for conservation. The biggest problem was a lack of information - it was just a list of things and what period they were from, no further information on what anything was used for or by whom. There were a 3 signs that looked like they maybe gave a bit more context, but where only in Cyrillic Macedonian (and brail, which is cool!). There was a large display of what looked like a mosaic floor/marble columns, but not a single sign or plaque with information! It also looked like there was some sort of projection display set up on either end of the room, but neither were running. Just an super obnoxious loud beeping sound throughout 🤣 We were only allowed to see the one display as the stairs to the upstairs were roped off, and we were yelled at when we tried to see the exhibit downstairs (I glimpsed some mannequins in traditional clothing and what looked like a wagon wheel set up as a display, but two guys who had just been sitting on their phone around the corner run up and yelled at us when we went to walk down the stairs. An entirely bizarre "Archeological Museum" experience that I cannot recommend. Really such a shame since there is such a fascinating area with incredible history, a real missed opportunity.

A huge building from the outside but very very limited number of foundings inside. The biggest piece you will see is the Alexander Sarcophagous, which is a replica as the original is displayed in Istanbul Archeology Museum. There is a lot to do here to serve as a "proper" museum. Entrance is 150 MKD for tourists. 45 minutes is more than enough to see the entire museum. There are many signs giving information about excavations however only in Macedonian. So you will need a translation software to understand what is what.

The exhibition was quite small, considering how huge the building is. Most of the info provided is in Macedonian only. 150 den for one ticket.

Grand building. Looked beautiful at night. Our tour guide realized that there wasn't a lot to see inside the museum and decided to let us see the museum and the surrounding at night

Nice building and very interesting collection. Some outstanding pieces from different ages of local history from the stone age to medieval times. It is interesting to see themes and shapes carried across history especially the religious altars which existed even in copper age period. The amount of artifacts means you can spend a few hours to see the whole collection which is enough for almost everyone.

Small but decent museum. Mainly Macedonian artifacts belong to BC era. 2 floors only. Plan maximum 1 hour. 150 MKD entrance fee for foreigners.

I love museums and always try to visit new places. Here I met very nice staff. The museum is very modern and nice. The number of exhibits allows you to learn about the history of the region. I think it's worth going here, it's a pity that the museum is poorly advertised and therefore there were not many tourists.

The worst museum we ve ever been Super rude lady in the ticket office, the ticket should cost 150 mkd, but we were charged 500 mkd per person without any explanation. No map, no guide… and the experience was very poor. Not recommended at all.

I would still recommend because of how many things there were, but -stuff was unproffesional and i felt offended -price of tickets didn’t match with paper on ticket table, it was more expensive(8€ instead of 5€) -lightning was greatly rotated for great photos, but also - around artefacts were lights sometimes broken so you couldn’t read stuff written about them and.. -there were almost no facts about them, How am i supposed to know? … -I want to learn not to see Nothing for 8€, 8€?! -and you have to put your extra stuff(bag/jacket) next to ticket table, which is next to entrence WITHOUT lockers and nodody were there to keep eye on it

The collection is modest with some rooms closed but what is displayed is attractively done. I loved the measuring table used to standardise liquid volumes in a market and the reproduction of Alexander's sarcophagus. I spent a leisurely hour here and it was most pleasant.

The museum is really worth visiting. Tickets are affordable, the museum interior and exhibitions are worth seeing. The only minus is the staff, which is not very positive towards tourists.

Nice exhibition but definitely lacking information, most of the exhibits only have the date they're from and nothing else. Also the lady at the ticket box was super unfriendly. As we left the museum, every worker here was listening to loud music on their phones....

The Bridge of Art was my favorite bridge in Skopje. Filled with statues of famous artists. Beautiful light posts and lanterns leading to a palace. Such an amazing bridge with stunning views of the river, buildings and mountains. So much history. I loved my visit and highly recommend. Right in the center surrounded by Macedonian Square and many other historical statues and sites.

This certainly is a city which loves statues and this bridge definitely highlights that! It’s seriously impressive though and really beautiful, being in my mind the best point to cross the river at. Surrounded by other grand buildings its worth taking a walk to and admire and a true landmark in the city.

Beautiful place, full of interesting sculptures. In the background you can see the archeological museum, the river and a pirate ship! Very nice walk.

The Art Bridge is not as famous as its nearest neighbor, but it tries just as hard to impress. Several statues adorn the footpath, but their focus is not on old history. Less people come to visit this bridge, but it's worth the extra steps that you will take to get here.

Great place for a walk and to study all of the impressive statues. The designer here did a wonderful job.

This bridge is worth seeing. Nicely done with some beautifuly carved statues. Very artistic. It is rather new addition to the town and always attracts the attention of many passers-by.

The lobby of the building is a nice place to take pictures in— someone was actually doing wedding photography while I was there. The building itself is beautiful and there are lots of enormous floor-to-ceiling paintings in the exhibits. Also, relatively cool inside even though it was 42C/108F outside. However, the information provided about the exhibits is lacking (usually just a date and names of people involved, not any explanation). I found the wax sculptures unsettling. Would probably be better with a guide, or perhaps a better fit for those with prior knowledge. I definitely recommend against it for kids.

Omg such a small diamond in this city. I came many times to Skopje but never visited this museum because it looked kinda boring from the outside but after looking at the reviews I gave it a try and let me tell you this; With 5€ there's no way you will find something better to do in the city. Full of wax figures from the uprising of Macedonia and so well staged with pictures, audio, video, led fibers on the ceiling for decoration I was so impressed. It's big and you need 1 hour for it but no more, definitely give it a try sooooo worth it

It was an incredible experience for me! The paintings, the wax figures, the structure made me engulfed in a victorious history, where Macedonian have fight a lot for their peace and national identity.

5 stars just because of the visuals and the interior of the museum. A lot of work went into all the wax figures, giant paintings and even ceilings and floors. However, structurally the museum doesn’t make much sense and the text is not done well. I hope that at some point they consider redoing all the text boards to make it more coherent and interesting. Very people focused as well, might be good to start with the big picture first.

Its a mix of wax statues and paintings glorifying those who fought for Macedonian independence. Most of the righting is also translated into English, but it can be a bit dull and dense with names. The museum mostly focuses on the 1800s to 1950s. It seems unfinished, as I expected to see something about the actual achievement of independence. Also, you can see where some of the tensions with Greece come in. It does seem to imply claim to southern Macedonia as well.

An amazing amount of thought and effort went into planning and designing this museum. The wax figures are very well done. I really like the many wall-sized historical paintings. In one sense they feel a bit strange as they were clearly commissioned recently but were painted in a style that makes them look like they were done in the 1800s or early 1990s. (They are a lot like the buildings along the river in that since.) Yet the paintings are impressive and convey the history in a serious way. The recent history of Macedonia is interesting and, sadly, often tragic. I think they have done a good job of explaining their struggle.

Excellent museum about the history of North Macedonia. Exhibits are well organized and presented, engaging, thought provoking and captivating. The presentation is easy to follow. The overview summary between one room to another / next exhibit overview as a guidance is helpful; however, individual exhibits could benefit from having a bit more narrative next to them placed accordingly. The price is 300 Macedonian denars or approximately $6 per person even on the weekend. We came on the weekend and were practically alone and could enjoy exhibits at our our speed. No wait time and no crowds. But we came in January so in summer it be different. Highly recommend.

The museum itself is really interesting - stories presented in a cool and interesting way. The only downside is the ticket prices, compared to other places it is definitely the most expensive.

The museum was very nice, is beautiful, huge and full of history. The entrance is 300, around 5 euros, which is expensive for Macedonia. Was basically nobody there so I could enjoy just the museum. The decorations and the building also are nice. You have information about different moments of Macedonian history.

Amazing muzeum! Lovely staff, everything explained in English for us tourists, the museum itself is very interesting. The wax figurines are very realistic, and the paintings beautiful. I highly recommend it!

Spacious and easy to walk around with guided arrows, although the realistic wax figures are kind of creepy and can make the experience daunting for some. Would benefit for better narratives in each area, but overall worth to visit.

The Mothers of Macedonia, town of Skopje please maintain your touristic sites. It is not too hard to keep the water clean.

Pathetic wart on multiple levels.

Among the many statues in the center of the city, these are surrounded around a fountain and represent Olympias, mother of Alexander the Great and wife of Philip II. It's really worth taking some photos around, although it's impossible not to pass by here during a tour in Skopje

Quite beautiful located in a nice square between the stone bridge and Old Town which you probably will visit anyway so you might as well get a few pictures here while your at it

Unique sculptures on the fountain are worth to see. Unfortunately a huge amount of waste in water is not acceptable.

It’s a nice place to take few photos, and that’s it. But then again when some people have parked like this (see in the picture), even your photos might not be that cool :)

This gate looks like the one on Paris.. barcelona...

You'd think this represents an important landmark for locals but people seem to think this is rather a parking lot. They were cones in the morning to show you can't park or drive through but people quickly removed them ..

This gate is located at one of the entrances to square macedonia. The gate itself is huge really huge. To be honest it looks really beautiful and if you ask "if its so beautiful why 3 stars" I will say its not unique its not as old as the gates on earth and its not as unique. I gotta say one more thing when you are going inside the gate look at the inner walls they have quotes from mother Teresa.

One if the few places in Skopje that is not covered in graffiti. As well as being nice to look at and a great place to set your geographical map to (if you don’t have data), it’s also a useful place to get straight up taxi drivers.

The Macedonia Gate is a memorial arch in the Pella Square in Skopje, North Macedonia. It was completed in 2012

Such a beautiful gate in remembrance of Macedonian history. Entrance to the city center. Unfortunately not as well located/presented like Arc de Triomphe for example.

Very interesting, very moving and very well laid out museum. Gave us a good understanding of what happened to Macedonian Jews in WWII.

Great experience n well done exhibit. It presents a full time of history of Jewish heritage in the region and history.

Entrance fee is free (now in August 2016). Top floor has cinema room, one film is always working, about 30min. We can see videos on several private PC with earphones, maybe it takes more than 3 hours to see all movies. This museum is just in front of entrance of Macedonian struggle museum, it is worth to go.

Amazing museum tickets are cheap as well. Can not take photos inside but that’s understandable. The best part of the museum was the holocaust train that came from Bulgaria.

Certainly one of the best holocaust museum I have been to. Comprehensive history and immersive experience. Great to reflect on this sad part of history in Skopje

A reminder to humanity from darkest chapter of history, the museum capture with understandable sensitivity and broad vision the travails and sufferings of bold Jewish people. I was moved by some of the stories presented in the Museum.

Very nice museum. Mainly goes over an important and somewhat overlooked narrative - the story of the Sephardic Jews and the Jews of the Balkans and Europe - and not just randomly displays things.

This museum has an extensive history of Jewish settlement in the Balkans, mostly Sephardic. Then it gets to the Nazis era, with all-too-familiar accounts of mans' inhumanity to man.

I visited yesterday. What a beautiful mosque with an amazing garden. I actually stayed a while and just sat in the shade on a bench in the garden. It was so peaceful with a nice breeze. A must visit when in Skopje. I will never forget my visit here.

Nicely restored ottoman mosque located up on the hills of Skopje.

Mosque built in 15th century. Great looking, excellent architecture resisting earthquake in 19th century without problems when big part of the city was completely destroyed. Especially beautiful during spring time with good maintained park. Great view towards old city.

The mosque was built in 1492 and went through a renovation recently sponsored by the Turkish government. There's a relatively big garden around. Thr atmosphere inside is tranquil, peaceful. A great place to take a break after strolling at the old market.

The imposant object of Ottoman architecture. It's a tourist friendly place. It's a soul calming place, and it has a very beautiful yard and amazing view on the Old Bazaar. The entrance is free.

One of the most attractive Masjids in Skopje. Ottoman era Masjid, beautiful interior. I will pray the Jummah prayer , insha'Allah.

It’s not nearly as ornate or beautiful as the Painted Mosque in Tetovo. Still worth a visit. Cool and tranquil surroundings

You can visit the mosque inside when there is no religious practice. You have to leave your shoes at the entrance of the mosque. This is an Ottoman-era mosque located in the Old Bazaar. It was built in 1492 by Mustafa Pasha. Interesting thing that the mosque is largely intact from its original state, and no additions have been made through the years. The mosque has a beautiful rose garden and a türbe .

Simple but nice. Can also see the skyline of the capital city, worth visiting. However, women may be required to have their hair covered at least by a hat.

Beautiful historic mosque. Bathrooms/toilets are outside. Pay 50 cents for use. They are standing toilets now western raised ones. No fee to enter the mosque. Must remove shoes and women need their headscarf.

A place of peace in the midst of a capital city. Free to enter although I would avoid prayer times. It's an architectural beauty vans as pretty as a picture. Pop in on your way to the fortress. Ideal if you're in the old bazaar area.

Beautiful mosque. Old and very clean. The imam showed me around and also told about its history. Loved the place. Highly recommended.
