One of the absolute standout meals of our visit to London, an aspiring Michelin-star level dining experience from start to finish bolstered by superb service and elegant but accessible decor.
We started with several smaller dishes:
* Berry papdi chaat, spiced chickpeas with sweetened yoghurt, wild berry & tamarind chutney
* Samosa platter, Punjabi Aloo, kolhapuri chicken, Madras lamb
* Grilled scallops with red pepper and sesame blend, coconut & curry leaves sauce
* Andhra Soft shell crunchy crab, pineapple kachumber, peanut butter salan
All were excellent but the scallops, crab, and chaat were just incredible in terms of flavor and texture.
For our mains, we again tried several items, sides, and naans:
* Smoked Malabar prawns marinated with fresh turmeric, coconut, curry
* Trio of chicken tikka tandoor grilled chicken supreme with cream cheese, pickling spices & Rajasthani chops
• Tandoor lamb chops with Kashmiri-chillies, Nagercoil clove
* Hydrabadi Biryani: Braised fragrant basmati rice exotic spices, mint, corriander, vegetarian-style
• Saag Paneer tossed with onion-tomato masala, puréed spinach
* Chicken Makhani Chargrilled chicken in creamed tomato, fenugreek leaves
* Jeera aloo
* Garlic naan & Cheese chilli naan
The prawns, lamb chops, and chicken makhani (butter chicken) were otherworldly in terms of flavor, just sublime creations. We also enjoyed the jeera aloo, trio of chicken, and the biryani though the latter wasn't in its ideal form as a vegetarian dish IMO. The naans were excellent.
The only misfire was the saag paneer, it was surprisingly bland.
As for the desserts, we tried two different ones:
* Baked cheesecake, raspberry couli, candied rice puff, sour yoghurt ice-cream
* Chocolate delight, almond brittle, mandarin ice cream
Both were absolutely epic, both in flavor and presentation. A fitting end to an incredible meal.
Cocktails and mocktails were well made, classic variations bursting with creative south asian influences.
Our server Dave Raj was a tremendous copilot in our journey, very knowledgeable, engaging and gracious.
Highly recommended. I hope they get a Michelin star, they are definitely flirting with one.
