100% worth the money for the time with family, ease of access to activities, and everything the price includes.
My wife, myself, and our 3 kids (3), (6), and (8), traveled to this hotel for a 4-day weekend in January. Driving up was no problem. Check-in was fast and smooth. You’re greeted by some of the kids theming. We were quickly granted access to the parking garage attached to the hotel. Our room was a spacious family-apartment. It was clean, well appointed, and absolutely kid-friendly. For all the kids theming downstairs, the room felt more normal. My wife and I didn’t feel like we’re were sleeping in fairy tale.
As far as food goes, here’s what you get included when you book:
1. Dinner day of arrival
2. Breakfast, lunch, dessert hour, and dinner each full day
3. Breakfast and lunch day of departure.
The food selection was expansive. More refined meats and vegetables for adults with salads, cheeses, and fruits. Then there was the same for kids but also with either nuggets, pasta, or something more their speed. Then there’s the desserts: gelato, pastries.
You also get use of the Hochschwarzwald card. This gives you one free daily admission to some of the activities in the vicinity of the hotel. We went to the Fundo-Rena daily. It houses a jump park, high ropes confidence course, indoor playgrounds, and a small cafe. The card also give you perks, like free sled rental at the ski shop.
The pool area is amazing: large swim area with separate enclosed slide. Plenty of room to spread out!
The ski slopes are literally feet from the door to the hotel. From all over the hotel, you can see people going up the lifts and skiing. There’s an on-site ski shop with rental gear as well as a snowboard shop. You’ve also got two schools so you can book lessons if you’re a beginner.
With so much to do, here’s what a day looks like:
0800–wake up; get breakfast
1000-1200–morning activity
1200-1300–lunch
1300-1630–skiing OR
1300-1530 rest time
1530-1700 pool time (you can book 90 minute pool slots)
1700-1830–dinner
1830-2000–Fundo-Rena
2000–get ready for the next day
There’s also a great sledding hill next to the ski slopes. This was very fun and easy to access.
The hotel staff was amazing—everyone was so kind and patient with us and our limited German language skills. Most if not all spoke English, and they were all interested in your stay being as great as possible. The dinner staff can help you get silverware, will clear used plates, and help you find whatever it is you need.
We look forward to booking for this summer to experience the summer-side of this place. Cannot wait to get back!
