This was a difficult review to write, because this hotel has so much potential to be a lovely boutique hotel, unfortunately the way its currently managed is keeping it from reaching its full potential. We booked our room directly with the hotel, months in advance, paid extra for a comfort with terrace and sea view and were really excited for our stay, upon arrival we we asked specifically for a quiet room, we were promised a quiet room but it would be ready in 1 hour, 90 min later our room was ready, were surprised to see that our room is in the hallway right next to reception and no sea view, a very tight room with a very poor lay out, infested with ants and worst of all extremely noisy, we can hear the people speaking at reception, foot steps, glasses clinging at the bar, we could even hear the hotel staff shouting in the hallway and when we asked them to lower their voice as my pregnant wife is trying to rest they made a hand gesture and shouted “this is my job.”
We decide we can no longer stay in this room, we ask reception staff for a solution, they offer non, we speak to the manager, he offers non and refuses to even refund us our money so we can go to another hotel. Finally the owner of the hotel gets there and he is the first person who seems to have been hospitality trained, offers us a temporary solution of a stay in a quieter room (but just for one night because other guests were arriving) and ultimately we had to leave the hotel and were refunded 4 out of 5 nights and were charged for the drinks we ordered while waiting for our room, which you would think after this experience we would’ve at least been offered as complimentary, I would even think that we would be refunded the night we stayed as a gesture to compensate us for this terrible experience but no this hotel has very little hospitality experience, some of the staff are nice but untrained to deal with unsatisfied guests, manager has no idea how to speak to guests which is why the owner needs to be involved in guest relations. My wife’s dietary restrictions were not met nor respected. This was all a shock to us as we found the pre arrival communication and support to be great, once you get there and you have an issue the staff dont know what to do.
Bottom line: this is a 3 star hotel with potential to become a 4 star hotel once they get a new manager, train their staff on how to deal with guests, and improve the quality of the ground floor rooms in the main building. We will not be coming back and would advise others to avoid this hotel.
