Solé Uptown in Waterloo is a hidden gem with impeccable customer service and comforting ambiance. Reviewers rave about the fantastic food options, from mouthwatering dishes like chicken, potato lasagna, penne carbonara to delightful desserts such as triple white chocolate cake and creme brulee. The patio filled with plants creates a welcoming atmosphere for diners. While some reviewers had mixed experiences with certain dishes, overall, Solé Uptown stands out for its great variety of high-quality menu items and surprises like complimentary desserts for special occasions.
A very nice spot in the heart of Waterloo. Amazing ambiance. The service is great and the food is mouthwatering! We had the chicken, the potato lasagna, the penne carbonara, and a pizza - all of them were perfect! The desserts here are at a different level, we tried the triple white chocolate cake, a raspberry cheese cake like and the lemon meringue, and they were also perfect! Highly recommended.
I always drive pass the restaurant and seeing the beautiful patio area. So tonight we gave it a try.
The food is around/below average, I would give a 2 star considering I came expecting a 4.5 star quality.
We ordered medium rare beef tenderloin. It is cooked at right level. But the sauce tastes too strong (not great…) and is covering the true taste of the meat. And the sauce is poured on the meat so at the end of meal there is only taste of sauce but no taste of meat. I guess sauce on the side would be better. Overall it’s around average but not as good as ones from steakhouse.
We also ordered braised ribs, which I would say below average. The ribs itself is actually good, having decent fat portion. But one piece of rib does not get any sauce so it’s so dry. Another piece got some BBQ sauce but sauce is too sweet…
It’s weird that at the end of the meal when waitress came to ask how is the food, I gave a “so so gesture” and was about to comment what I described above. But she just walked away, feeling like it’s just a routine asking “how is food tasting” but not really cares…
We came here for our anniversary and had an amazing time. The food was delicious and service was exceptional. I loved that we got a complimentary dessert for our anniversary, we didn’t ask nor expected anything. We were so surprised they did that for us, it was such a nice gesture. We both really appreciate it!! I would definitely come back to try the other items on their menu.
We came for dinner on Saturday for 5:15pm.
This restaurant is now part of the Charcoal Group and as such, excellence is always something everyone strives for.
Free parking is located behind the building.
The landscaping around the building is beautifully done and clean.
Staff here are absolutely outstanding! Everyone here is friendly, attentive, personable and hard working. Our server, Teo, was equally or even more so.
The Sole and Caesar Salads were excellent and definitely worth getting.
The Gnocchi was so good my wife wanted to lick the plate! The flavours were outstanding.
The Plant Based Ted's Chicken Piadina Sandwich was tasty but I found it was a bit too salty for my liking; I loved the roasted garlic aïoli though.
Our friends had to return their fries because they were raw in the middle; but it was quickly remedied and made to perfection.
The baked cheesecake is phenomenal! So smooth and creamy and the compot was a perfect accompaniment.
Unfortunately my triple chocolate cake was dry and hard and had to be returned; the rest of the cake was taken out of circulation because it did not meet their standards.
Although our evening was not perfect, we would definitely be back.
We went to celebrate our anniversary and were not dissapointed. The place is really nice and cozy. The service was fast and good. There were not too many people dining either.
We ordered soup of the day and scallops as appetizer. The soup was a potato, fennel, sausage and manchego cheese. Delicious! The scallops were amazing, so so good and tasty and the sauce was out of this world!! We got some slices of bread and butter on the house.
For main I ordered the hemp crusted salmon. The fish and the sweet potato puree was very good and cooked to perfection. The dish came w half a beet which was cold. I did call the server and asked her if it was supposed to be served cold and she said room temp. She did offer to take it back and throw it in a pan but I declined since I knew I was not gonna eat it all anyway. Hubby got penne carbonara which was really good.
For dessert we had a creme brule and a chocolate cake and they surprised us with a "happy anniv" in it
We need to be back to try other dishes for sure and can't wait for the summer to go and try the patio too.
