Excellent experience from booking through to leaving our carriage at the end of the journey. Friendly service, beautiful carriages and comfortable train ride to Oxford and back. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to do something a little different and or treat yourselves to a little luxury travel.

My wife bought this experience for my birthday last year which was obviously covid delayed. We eventually chose the London to Warwick trip so we could look round the castle. I have to say our experience from start to finish was excellent. The staff were super efficient and friendly throughout, very accommodating with my wife's dietary requirements and we must give special mention to Jackie, Bruno and Aimee who all worked tirelessly to make sure everything ran smoothly and that everyone was completely happy during the trip. On our return trip we were welcomed back on board like old friends and we really felt the staff genuinely wanted us to have the best experience possible. The quality of the food was all excellent and the evening service of 5 courses ran like clockwork. We were in the Pullman style dining carriages which were all finished to a very high standard and comfort, all being impeccably restored as was the stunning locomotive which pulled us. At every station we passed or stopped at, many people were taking photos or videos of the train which made it feel even more special - this was a real step back in time event! We had an incredible day out and we would like to thank everyone at Steam Dreams for this fabulous experience. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and hope that we will be able to take another trip in the future as there are plenty to choose from.

The castle has a beautiful garden. Absolutely amazing, we loved it. The garden is the major attraction to the castle itself. It is well maintained and has beautiful views. In sumer you can just relax on the benches and enjoy the atmosphere. Entry is free for the garden, but you have to pay to get into the castle. There wasn't much to see in the castle. One hour is enough to have a tour around if you don't intend to sit and chill.

Lovely gardens and peaceful place great views of Guilford as never been before, shame as about the metal staircase not in context with the castle. Free to walk around gardens not sure about going on inside has closed on the Sunday we visited. Car parks close by and very cheap to park. Compared to o some places that charge £ 10 for a couple of hours we paid £1.50

Breathtaking. Gardens are superb, what hard work has been put into the gardening. Truly stunning. Lots of car parks nearby and loads of restaurants and shops. Great day out.

Beautiful castle built on the hilly side of Guildford. According to historical records, the castle was built soon after the Norman invasion from 1066, somewhere around 1086. It's thought that William the Conqueror was the one who commissioned its construction. Throughout the years it was used as a royal residence, a prison, and a private residence. Today, the castle and its grounds are open to the public. The castle grounds are a vibrant flower garden that attracts locals and tourists alike.

Attractive small Norman castle set amongst beautiful gardens near the centre of Guildford. The grounds (first opened to the public in 1888) are free to enter, and are a delight in late spring, when the vibrant tulip displays are at their best. For a reasonable entry price of £4.50 (at the time of my visit), you can look inside the castle. The ground floor houses an information-dense exhibition. A narrow spiral staircase leads to a large open room with fireplace and wall carvings. Climbing to the top, it exits into the roof, fully caged for safety. From here there are excellent views over Guildford to the cathedral, the ruin of St Catherine's Chapel, and as far as Woking. The castle keep is open between the end of March and beginning of November, 12:00 - 16:00 Wednesday to Saturday. During spring the gardens are the real highlight, and there's plenty of seating around to enjoy them for a few moments. There's plenty of paid on street parking near the castle.

The grounds are beautiful and crowned by the castle on top of the hill. A notice board gave opening hours and the entrance showed a sign saying tickets must be obtained at ground level. But having walked all around the castle ground, there was no place to buy tickets, so our visit was restricted to the grounds, even though we were there during the advertised opening hours. The top of the hill does afford good views across the city of Guildford.

Excellent and we'll maintained grounds, plants, grass and trees, lots of birds and squirrels for feeding. Lovely little pond and excellent views from the tower and raised area. The flowers are a little too pristine and themed, feels a little less organic.

Free to visit, great spot for a picnic. Lovely old castle on the top of the hill, with flowers in Bloom. A lot to explore - a hidden area beyond the old walkway leading into a park and further gardens. Be warned the walkways are crumbly! Almost tripped and fell on my face.

The castle itself is not much to look at, but it’s nice in of itself. It looks like it used to be a bigger. I think you can tour the castle, but the times seem to vary or be inconsistent. The gardens around the Caesar’s top notch and very well maintained m. There seem to be flowers no matter the season. Take a nice stroll through this charming park if you have the opportunity.

This is a gem in the city centre area. Quiet park, plenty of benches to sit at, and a great little sun trap. Not always open so check the signs. Really nice place to sit and relax for a bit.

What a lovely quaint place. It’s fascinating that it used to be the most luxurious castle in England and the king lived there. Beautiful views. People were here catching up and enjoying the peace and quiet. Very well kept. It is slowly eroding but they try to maintain it as well as possible. Plenty of places to grab a bite or a drink nearby. If you’re close, stop by and enjoy the views from a top and take a seat and relax. You have to purchase a ticket to get to the top of the tower. You can buy tickets on the main level of the castle top. But it is free to walk around everywhere else. Please visit and enjoy the views!

Beautiful historical castle in Guildford. The gardens are immaculately kept and a wonderful place to bring a book, your coffee and read! Took out little puppy (dogs on leads allowed) and chilled and had a lovely rest outside the castle grounds too. Worth a visit!

Very nice, relaxing area. The castle is closed and only opens on Wednesday however it doesn’t look that big to go inside. The park around it is super cleans and beautiful. Nice family day out.

There is not much left of the castle. It's possible to climb up to the top and enjoy the views. The castle gardens and an absolute delight making this a very enjoyable visit 👍

First visit to Guildford and Guildford castle and I will definitely be back! Such a pleasant clean tidy town. The castle is a delight to walk around, the views at the top were stunning. Could see for miles!

Pretty castle. The castle itself is not much to see but the gardens are beautiful. There is also a nice view of the town once you have walked up the stairs towards the castle.

Amazing place. The guide John was so interesting to listen too, his knowledge of the history of the place was fascinating. The house Chapel and galleries were beautiful. All topped off with a fantastic meal in the tea rooms. Will definitely be going back

Great gallery to visit, with a super intriguing history around George and Mary Watt. Some absolutely epic paintings and sculptures, and at the time a very different exhibition from Brian May covering stereoscopic Victorian photos. The gift shop and tea room are lovely too. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and are happy to entertain questions from the kids. In the past we had also attended some kids art workshops which seem to be running over the current summer holidays too.

We really enjoyed the village, it was fun to walk around the house and learn more about them. The chapel was stunning and is not to be missed, and the gallery had many paintings and stunning sculptures.

Great place! Beautifully presented now - I remember visiting before the revamping! Well stocked shop, tho surprised to see so much packed in plastic! Glad to hear you're on the case...! We visited during half term and tho it was busy the staff were doing great job managing the queue to the cafe....

The chapel ceiling is a gem - just breathtaking as you walk in and look up! I loved the house and Watt's studio too with a huge winch that enabled him to work on enormous canvases - wish I had one for my own work! If you love art, a visit to this place is highly recommended.

Interesting, worthwhile, and gentle experience walking around the Watts Gallery and village. The volunteers are helpful and well worth chatting to fully appreciate what you are looking at. Allow a good half day,

A real gem! This was my first visit to this incredible gallery/artist's village. GF Watts' evocative paintings and powerful sculptures and Mary Watts' exquisite ceramic reliefs set in the Gallery and Limnerslease tell the story this extraordinary couple. And, for me, the Watts Cemetery Chapel is of true wonder - designed by Mary Watts and built with the help of the villagers - the Chapel is breathtaking! My friend and I joined Jane Turner, one of the volunteers, whose brilliantly guided tour was peppered with fascinating facts and amusing anecdotes. Throughout the Artist's Village, the staff and volunteers were exceptionally friendly knowledgeable and helpful. The paths were easy to negotiate and clearly marked and signposted. Being a warm, sunny day, my friend and I sat in the beautiful garden to enjoy a delicious lunch. There are well maintained toilets near the Gallery and near Limnerlease. There is also ample parking in both locations, and some on the road parking near the Chapel. My friend and I enjoyed our visit so much that we decided to join as Friends and are already planning our next visit.

Beautiful place - got in for half price because some areas were closed due to a fire. The staff were all great, the young woman showing us around the house was really knowledgeable about the Watts, showing us bits of the house that we might have missed on our own. The sculpture gallery was impressive with some huge pieces. The Chapel is smaller than I expected, but the graveyard is great to walk around, including the grave of the Watts and also the author Aldous Huxley.

Have you ever fallen in love at first sight? I mean really in love - you know that this is it. Well, that is what has happened to me today as I entered the Watts Gallery. I vaguely knew of Watts as a portrait artist but...his sculpture, art as social commentary, his religious symbolism is (for me) awe-inspiring. The only other artist who has the same effect on me is Van Gough. I came to see the works of the Ford-Maddox family - which is also phenomenal. Then I went around the house and finally the Chapel. It's this that is the final piece de resistance. Over 70 local people were involved in the design and making of pieces. Visually it is stunning - for me it is as beautiful as the Sistene Chapel (but in a very different style. O, and Mrs Watts designed it all. The tea room also has scones to die for.

What a find - this place is an oasis of art, history and creativity. Nice vibe, easy parking very good cafe and the art is special, feels like a curated walk around the Tate Britain. Easy to spend a couple of hours here, looks like some good workshops for kids too.

What a great day out, fabulous gallery, lovely tea room with seating inside and out, visitor centre and shop, plenty of free parking and my personal highlight the Watts cemetery Chapel, an absolutely stunning place.

Our third visit after some years. The gallery has been improved greatly, along with the café. The Watts house is now available to see, wonderful. We went to see the stereoscope exhibition and stayed for the day. Very good.

Amazing. The amount of times we have driven past...curiosity absolutely killed the cat on this occasion, and we do not regret it! It was fascinating. The works, art and creation of the Watts is just incredible. Go here!

Brought mum here today for Mother's Day. I am pretty ignorant when it come to art and had no idea what to expect. Even though the historical gallery was closed (there was a fire), everything else was open and we loved it. I knew nothing about George and Mary Watts but loved their art and learning about their lives. After getting our tickets from the visitors centre we walked to the chapel (5 mins by road). It was breathtaking. The colours are so vivid and it gives you a sense of what Saxon churches may have looked like and was also very tolkein-esque (think Rohan). Even the graves mirrored the intricate tiles of the chapel. Then onto the house which was fascinating and made all the better by the enthusiasm of the volunteers who answered all questions, showed us around and gave very detailed explanations of the artwork. I think they also appreciated our growing joy from seeing such wonderful art. Finally we saw the sculpture gallery which was exceptionally good. The explanations of how George Watt created such sculptures was very enlightening. The tea room was busy but the staff were efficient, polite and friendly. We didn't have food (just tea) but what we saw of other tables' food was impressive to say the least. The shop was pricey, but the items sold there are by artisans and small ones studios/potteries/galleries, so I can appreciate why there was a higher price tag. In the end mum and I chose to become Friends of Watts Gallery as we are definitely coming again and want to bring others with us.

I was principally there to see the Victorian Stereoscopy Exhibit (which was brilliant) but the environment was lovely and I could happily have spent the whole day there. Heard a surprisingly interesting talk about the De Morgans and some lovely artwork. I didn't visit the chapel or the entire gallery. It's not cheap but on the whole worth it.

Gosh. I hadn't been to Watts Gallery for some years. It has significantly developed since then including a lovely larger and accessible café. (My sister is a wheelchair user) What a delight. The Gallery and Chapel are beautiful buildings in themselves and the story behind them is fascinating. The extended village now includes a studio for artists in residence and I really loved the work of one of these artists which is displayed on an outside wall. The shop is extensive too and sells many gorgeous articles as well art cards.

Went to take pictures of the chapel but unfortunately it was under renovation and it was covered in some sort of plastic wrapping, there was no information that it was under renovation. But that didn’t stop me from walking around the cemetery and taking pictures. Would recommend going in the afternoon as the sun is just shinning through the cemetery and just gives it a warm feeling.

This is a Pre-Raphaelite jewel by any standards. Created my Mrs Watts, who also founded a local pottery using the terracotta clay found in the area. Tiny but perfect a must see

Wow! This memorial chapel is simply astounding. The design and craftsmanship are in a world of their own, a real treat for the senses, well worth a visit!

This place is completely different from the others in England. From the outside, it reminds me of Italy, and inside we can breathe in Orthodox art mixed with Art Nouveau! Wow! I love it! 😊 I came from Godalming. (using the Google maps) The journey was not physically demanding, but it was an hour and a half of normal walking. Mostly on the sidewalk. Or on the road without much traffic. Only in one place (300 yards) it goes along a busy road. You can enjoy on the way, I admired the local residential architecture. 😉

A very beautiful interior in the Art Nouveau or Celtic Revival style. On a fine day you can enjoy a walk through the cemetery where there are some splendid trees

If you're looking for something unique, please don't miss this chapel, even if it's just 5minutes out of your day. Incredible architecture which is well explained inside the Chapel. Have always found the space unlocked to enjoy. We parked at the nearby Watts Gattery and took the short 5min walk there.

The Watts Chapel is a beautiful building and a very peaceful place to visit; It's unique and well worth a visit

Stunning arts and crafts chapel with wonderful terracotta detailing outside, and spectacular colour and decoration within. The unusual design by Mary Watts is like no other I've seen in the UK. The chapel is open daily, softly illuminated inside and includes a book of information in the centre of the room. The cemetery itself is very peaceful and worth a walk around while visiting. There's a small amount of parking by the road outside.

Blown away by this beautiful little chapel in the village cemetery of Compton in Surrey. The inside walls are completely covered with lavish decoration in terracotta relief carving and paintings. According to the local council, it is "a unique concoction of art nouveau, Celtic, Romanesque and Egyptian influence”. My photos in no way capture the beauty and creativity that it bestows. Simply stunning!

Wonderful afternoon there. Absolutely magical! Defiantly worth a visit. Popped down to the cafe for food as well. Great little place and lovely food.

Went to G-Live to see the Waterboys. There is no problems with the nearby car park and you only pay until 10pm. Car spaces are narrow though and some of the payment machines were not working. The venue is modern and there is plenty of space on the two levels. I was seated in the lower stalls and the view of the stage was excellent. Problem is the seats were uncomfortable.

Excellent fairly personal venue, good sized seats, friendly staff, ample staff and fair priced bar. Totally recommended.

Great venue, staff were lovely and very helpful. Parking was easy. Numerous toilets with NO queue!! The only downside was £18 for 4 ice creams.

Great location, easy parking, good range of entertainment. The view of the stage from our seats was excellent, however our row had very little leg time - at the front of the circle - row AA. Recommended venue.

Went to see Leigh Francis - good facilities, bar service was quick and easy. The seating inside was good and had no problems parking. I think getting there early was the key, we went to a local pub round the corner for a beer first. There are a number of good shows here so will Be back

What a great venue to live acts. We have just seen 10cc, and it was brilliant. There are no bad seats that we could see. We sat at the back of the circle and could see everything.

Always a good experience at g live. Australian Pink Floyd were excellent. Sound quality great as was the lighting and effects. Music superb too!

Absolutely loved seeing the bootleg Beatles. Great night. Thing is at the interval when everyone needed the toilet,the queues were longer than Ringo's nose.*****

We went to see Sarah Millican here. There was plenty of paid parking around and even free parking after 6 pm if you search. The venue was bright and modern with a large bar downstairs and a couple of smaller satellite ones, but if course, they were not cheap. I was driving, so treated myself to a Slushy (these are bottomless, so get it in early and get your monies worth). It was nice to go to a theatre where the seats were reasonably comfortable, although there could have been a little more leg room. Temperature was spot on as well (some have been far too hot).

It's a great venue, but allow plenty of time to find parking. I would have given a 5 star review , but the parking is lacking very few spaces at the venue..lots of peo6were late for the performance beca6theyd been driving around trying to park.

Nice enough theatre, every seat appears to give a good view of the stage. Acoustics seems okay. Staff very friendly and helpful, food and drink are quite expensive but that seems the normal for similar venues. Handy car park, which I think is not linked to the venue be aware that, at the time of writing, the charges in the carpark board are wrong, there is a new price list taped to a small traffic cone that's easy to miss. The clock on the machine is slow which is important for evening charges A big downside for the theatre is the seating. If you are taller than 5" 10' then it gets uncomfortable very quickly (and seats are closely packed(.

I really like this venue, there's a really nice cafe bar in the foyer and the seats are not too steep, so it feels like a nice view wherever you sit. The car park was completely full well before does opened though, so plan ahead if you're traveling by car. (I went to Castle Car Park in the end, 10 minute walk but plenty of room)

Went to see Massaoke on 16 December and it was EPIC! Not sure what to expect but the band raised the roof. Can’t wait for their next visit to Woking.
