An enjoyable afternoon walking around the gardens and estate. I have not visited Shugborough for eight years and have previously visited on numerous occasions. It was enjoyable visiting the Mansion house and seeing it had been updated with new and exciting displays. There was no access to the second floor (could have been the time we visited) or further updates are been implemented by the National Trust. It is evident within some areas of the garden that National Trust have started to undertake renovations, plant new trees/plants. Usually while visiting National Trust properties I find you walk through fields where cattle or sheep graze. However it was nice to see these areas safely fenced off. The playground area is a big improvement with new and exciting equipment for children to play and explore. Now situated behind the walled garden rather than beside the farm. The farm itself is presently undergoing renovations which I look forward to seeing in the future. However there is a small cafe which sells a selection of light refreshments and snacks. Looking forward to future visits to the estate.

Lovely place to visit, just driving in gives you an idea of the scale of the place. We saw deer roaming around which was great to see. Nice little drive to the car park, then as soon as you get into the place, there's a play area for the kids, wild gardens, a walled garden with gorgeous flowers and a little self driven mower that's fun to watch. Plenty of benches to have lunch and lots of wildlife to see. Sheep and horses are in the fields as you make your way towards the hall. The gardens are kept really nice and are a joy to walk around. Great little features like bridges and other buildings to keep your camera clicking. A lot of walking but a really nice place to visit.

The estate is beautifully managed and there are lots of walking trails. The hall itself is a National trust property but the area has so much to offer. If you’re willing to walk off the main tracks there are many hidden historical points of interest. Early morning and evening yield incredible views.

We had a lovely day out at Shugborough Estate. We were a bit disappointed by how much it's changed since the city council handed it over to National Trust. It used to be immersive and interactive, now it's just a self guided tour and most of the rooms are closed or of restricted access. Also, the lack of signage made our tour quite confusing. We enjoyed our walk around the hall and we even got to pet a cow.

Although the hall was closed we enjoyed a lovely walk in the, grounds. The, trees, were beautiful in the mist and I loved the Chinese House and, painted bridges and statues. You are allowed dogs on a lead and, the cafe, was open too. A favourite place of mine to visit, because of the canal walks and walks over the fields too

We enjoyed our time exploring this large estate. Although the car parks were full, we walked around mostly on our own. You need to aware of the warnings about deer on the approach to the estate, coming off the Chase. The estate welcomes everyone of all ages and abilities, dogs and deer. The large herd of wild deer prefer the estate to the Chase and were relaxing in the shades of trees when we visited. A volunteer saw us planning our walk and pointed out some places to see. You can leave the estate at one point to look at the old pack horse bridge before returning. We played Pooh Sticks off this bridge and you can play it off another bridge near the Chinese House. There are plenty of rest points and plenty to see. I guess it would take you a full day to view everything.

A very nice property and well worth the walk. Great for taking the dogs out to see something different. The structures dotted around landscape and the walled gardens are particularly interesting. The mansion itself was okay without being spectacular. The café near the mansion had a good selection of snacks and meals, which we definitely needed after the walk to get there. A pleasant excursion!

Beautiful day out. So much to do, we probably should have arrived earlier so we could fit more of the walks in. There’s 2 places you can eat, first at the farm then at the mansion tea room. The farm seemed to have slightly more meal options with the tearoom being more cakes and snacks. Lovely staff in the mansion offering help.

Great place to visit! We only had 2 hours to spend here but could have easily spent the whole day. My 4 children aged 5 to 13 all enjoyed seeing how people used to live in the mansion. They also enjoyed the play park and zip wire.

Walking my dog Eddy and to view the, autumnal colours. Absolutely beautiful trees and colours right now, the best I've seen. Love my drive there though sweet Tixall village too My dog loved it too, just wish he could run off lead! He can in the woods and fields, but I'm building up to that, due to my ankle break in April. Totally worth a visit, serene and very pretty 😊

This is one of the best National Trust places I've visited so far, beautiful grounds, large house plus lord Lichfields apartments to view and some extra outbuildings. Gift shop /cafe /restaurant and facilities are all very good. The staff are all lovely polite and friendly. Most definitely worth a visit

Beautiful place, definitely worth a visit. Very handy shuttle available to take you from the carpark to house and back (v.nice at the end of the day when you've walked all over the place). Lots to see in the buildings and extensive gardens and grounds. Activities for families Inc garden snakes and ladders and tennis courts.

Beautiful place and great for a very nice walk around or just find a nice spot to have a picnic or just read your favourite book. For those that struggle with mobility there's a shuttle (golf cart) service that can transport you too and from the main building.

Shugborough Hall is a very nice national trust property. It is very large so plenty of opertinity to do some nice walks. There are gardens near the entrance and a children's play area. Then a short walk to the farm area, and then a little walk further to the mansion. The gardens are very picturesque, with flowers and bushes and statues. The grounds extend down to the Essex bridge and we ventured further over the bridge along the canal to the great Haywood cliffs before returning. There is a shuttle bus to the mansion to help as its almost a mile walk from the entrance. I would recommend walking back toward the entrance to see the train tunnel. Google asks would you recommend buying tickets in advance, as with all national trusts I would recommend buying an annual pass which allows access to all national trust sites.

A grand house on a large beautiful estate ran by the National Trust. The house itself is a 10 min walk from the car park or a buggy ride. The rooms are large, grand, and have fantastic painted ceilings. There are plenty of rooms and gardens to explore. There are also plenty of activities for children and a huge play park.

Well kept gardens and hall. Some of the garden were flooded due to the weather. So will only give four stars this time

Really nice National Trust property. Lots to do. There is a 15 min walk from the car park to the main house, so be aware. But really worth it, especially the apartments. Really worth looking in. We had coffee and cake, can highly recommend the carrot cake. Site was well looked after and you could happily spend all day there. We did visit the play area, although my kid is too old for it really. It's a 'wild' play area, so no actual swings or slides. Was a bit lacking really. But didn't effect us. Will definitely visit again.

Fabulous place to visit in Staffordshire. Gorgeous grounds and located next to the fab village of Great Haywood which is also worth exploring. Recommend a visit.

Great family day out at Shugborough Estate- great adventure park for the kids to run about on! Lovely walk past the cows up to the house and the cafe! Loved the idea of a toy for the children to carry around the house which stops them from touching things. We listened to music that was played in the 1700s what an experience! Certainly a National Trust to go and see!

The soft play barn is good but the rest feels a bit unfinished. Could do with putting a bound gravel or hard surface path around the outside farmyard where the chickens, goats etc are as you can take a pushchair but you spend 20 minutes getting it to a decent state to then go into the indoor play area if it's a wet day. If the owners see this please consider putting in an area to brush pushchair wheels off as it feels wrong doing it in the toilets and it'll help keep the indoor area clean. Also there's a few ramps or flooring joins that are trip hazards as they either aren't flush or have lifted. I'm not going to compare it to 'how it used to be', I don't think that's fair but the main complex and yard shops seem a bit random and aren't always open. I don't think the indoor race track section belongs there, it just seems out of place with some weird small fairground rides, it just feels a bit creepy in there walking past from the entrance to the till for the playbarn. Overall we had a good time and can't complain about the price. It cost me and my baby £6 to go into the barn section. I'd go again but I can see why a larger family would not go too often. It could be made a bit of an easier trip with some modifications and attention to details like the signage and not cramming too much into too small spaces. I don't think it'd be enjoyable if we'd gone and there were more than about 10 families there. I'd like to say thank you to the lady on the cafe till in the play barn, you were polite and welcoming, everyone else wasn't rude but just seemed a bit like they didn't want to be there and weren't very smiley or offer to help me with a pushchair through the very many closed pull doors which was disappointing when there's barely anyone there and you aren't busy.

Nice place but feeling a little lifeless although that might just be when I visited, that said it's worth a visit just to go into Unique Metalworks where Neil the MD has a studio full of very special unique items for the home, office or garden which are remarkable works of art. His success has resulted in him being featured on Scrap Kings on Channel 5 and his studio is full of great items. Well worth a visit.

A great place to take kids, lots of animals to see and especially liked being able to feed the lambs. The indoor play was brilliant and my son did not want to leave. Also great value as well. We will definitely be returning here

Awesome day out for all of the family. We went as a party of 5 which consisted of 2 adults and 3 kids. The work that the staff there have put in to make it a truly magical Christmas experience this year is very much evident. All in our party had a great day and the kids haven't stopped talking about their experience seeing Santa, playing in Barny's barn and seeing the farm animals. Would highly recommend to others thinking of paying a visit this year.

A nice place to visit with children, as it provides lots of activities to keep the children entertained. Some of the go karts are broken, but everything else seemed in working order. Unfortunately, I found a couple of members of staff to be rude when serving. The rest of the day seemed ok, and ultimately, the children had a lovely time. We also went on the train ride, which was around £3 each, and came with an eye spy picture sheet for the children. Overall, I would recommend a visit, just don't let a small minority of rude staff put you off enjoying your day.

I was very disappointed with the farm shop and looked at the meats that were prepacked, not what I expected. Bought 3 pies and when cooked the next day hardly filling in the lamb and mint pie. The steak pudding tasted only as i can describe as plastic tasting ? The only joy we had was looking at the sculptures that were made out of horse shoes. It's worth a visit for that alone, but not the farm shop, I'm afraid

This is a good place to bring kids. Although they have a small soft play area for the much younger children, the climbing areas are all wooden. We went on a rainy day so didn't get full use of the farm. But all in all it was a nice couple of hours with the kids somewhere different.

Big thank you to Santa's for taking time to see us and his two elves Waffle and Buddy for making it a magical experience. The kids loved the tractor ride and seeing all the animals and reindeer. We had a lovely day out for my daughters birthday, was lovely to see the baby animals, Had a great time in the play area, they did a great job swapping round food for one of my daughters who has intolerances The cake selection in the shop was amazing and we brought quite a few!

Fantastic place. We went for Christmas and the effort they put into the Santa/elf experience was amazing. There were loads of toys to chose from each room was different and interactive. We even got a chocolate orange each rather than cheap chocolate that some places would offer. It was ace. The staff were amazing and work really hard. Keep it up guys!

Great Christmas experience for our lad. Walked Reindeer. I will say it won't happen again due to the excessive cost. It was good just pricey. Santa visit was great. All staff were brilliant. Play area was great also. Memorable day for our 6 year old.

This place is amazing. There are 2 barns, they have animals in both and you can buy a bag of feed to feed them. You go onto a field where there are go carts, a pond, trampolines, 2 large sand pits and climbing frames. Inside are toilets and a cafe and a soft play. There are also few shops and a brilliant butchers. The car park is a good size. Recommend Wellies and warm clothes if it is a bit of a cooler day. It is a brilliant place, my 3 year old grandson and I had a great 5 hours here.

Had a fabulous day I took my granddaughter she got to feed the lambs. And then we’re lucky enough to see 2 lambs been born how fabulous The staff were fabulous x

Nice farm, visited in the summer it was really busy and didn't get chance to go on the tractor ride as the queue was super long. Plenty of parking. Got a bit confused trying to find the entrance first

Excellent day out for the whole family especially for young children as they can up close and personal with so many different animals. There is a cafe/restaurant on site along with an ice cream parlour with plenty of choice. It's location is ideal as it is situated on the A518 between Stafford and Uttoxeter

Brought a large Pork Pie and Pasties plus cakes which were all excellent. In fact the PP was one of the best I have tasted for a long time. Well done!

Great day out at a very reasonable price entrance for 2 adults & 18m old with lunch purchased cost around £30 for day Outside, feed the farm animals for £1, petting area with hand washing facilities tractor ride, bouncy pillows, sand pit, go karts. Inside is the wooden indoor play suited to 4+ as quite challenging and hard landings with small soft play for 3 & under Party area & plenty of tables chairs & highchairs as was very quiet when we went last Sunday. Good cafe & staff little gift shop. Farmshop at front near good sized gravel carpark. Clean Baby change facilities & toilets. We were lucky with the weather 😊

We turned up and there was a dog event on which wasn't advertised and we're made to pay £3 parking because of the event otherwise it had been free. A little annoying seen as how we didn't go anywhere near the dog event as I'm scared of dogs and wouldn't have gone at all if id known. The castle has loads of sections shut off and hasn't been maintained in a very good standard as in some areas they have used standard house bricks to patch sections completely ruining the look and not maintaining the original style. Took about 10 minutes to see what you were allowed to walk around and then we had a quick walk on the grounds and were done within an hour. Wouldn't go again.

Love the walk to the castle. The view from above is amazing. There is free car parking available as well with optional donation for the castle. The information centre is fun with kids. Worth a visit for sure.

Fantastic grounds open most of the day for walks. It's a steep climb up to the castle but worth it for the sit down to get your breath and look at the views. Even though a lot of it has been rebuilt there's not a lot of the castle left but what is there is okay and it's free entry.

Great Castle to visit. With plenty of information boards dotted around describing various parts of the location and history the Castle. We could even walk inside, which was a delightful surprise. Worth a visit when staying in Stafford.

This castle is considered one of the best surviving examples of Norman earthworks in the country.  Its not very big but the view on top of the hill is stunning. Staff at the visitor centre were very welcoming and very knowledgeable about the whole history surrounding this castle. Free entry and car parking but your donation is welcome.

A pretty intact castle despite its age ...on a hill with a partial moat around it . The history behind it is fascinating with the civil war . The walk up to it through the wooded area is amazing ..with some beautiful dense tree area and great views of stafford at the top 8/10

Lovely walk around outside and inside the castle. I've drove past this on motorway for over 40 yrs and today I woke up and thought I'm going to go and have a look. After the walk I had a refresment in the tea room where they talked about the history of the castle. It's quite fascinating and well worth a visit.

Nice little place to stop for a short wander. A bit muddy in winter but beautiful views.

Free to visit and free parking on site. The castle itself isn’t big but it’s very pretty and the view on top of the hill is stunning. On the way to the castle you walk past a forest and it’s very scenic. Nice gift shop too!

Great place to walk the with lots of history dotted around to read. Going inside the castle is not open to the public. The photos from 100+ feet give a completely different perspective here

Not the most magnificent of castles you may come across but its okay for a quick visit. Unfortunately we arrived on a day when it was closed and the visitors centre was also closed. There's a short steep hill from the car park so be aware of your are old, have push chairs etc. With a visit if you are close by or have an interest in Norman history, it won't take you more that half hour to see everything, if it's open

A great family walk and free. There is a trail to follow with lots of information on what the castle and surrounding area used to be like. Some of the trail is over grown making it difficult at times which is why i've only given 4 stars. There is a direct path leading up to the castle which makes the walk shorter and easier for people with mobility problems or a wheelchair. On the day we visited we could only walk around the outside of the castle. There is also a nature trail to follow in a circular walk. There is also a medievil herb garden which is nice to sit in and have your dinner. The visitor center was interesting. My children loved trying the different pieces of armour, shields and weapons with the help of the staff. The staff took their time showing and explaining as they went through which was great. Very friendly. You can buy food and drink. The toilets were clean and fresh. There is a carpark in front of the visitor center. Free but there is a donation box. Lots of benches around and some table/benches by the start of the walk.

Small but friendly cafe. Tea, coffee, sausage roll or paste on offer. Interestingbut small museum. Nice walk up to the castle ruins but you can't go inside

A nice walk around the castle but very wet and muddy today. A good place to visit with pleasant views at the top too.

Below the castle you have a small but adequate carpark which is situated right outside the information centre and more importantly the toilets.If your one for dressing up then once inside you can try on some of the items of clothing,hats and shields.Its all good fun.Big thank you to Julianne who took us through the history of the castle and provided us with excellent coffee.Outside we walked up through the trees to the castle and up onto the hill(great photo opportunity) .The views here are amazing.You can walk into the castle grounds and look through the many stone windows and look over Staffordshire and beyond.There are information boards everywhere detailing the history and owners of the castle.We were well impressed and will return.If your heading into the town centre then this is a great stop for coffee,walking the dogs and a bit of history thrown in . .

It’s been ages since last visited so as had time To myself I went to have a look and see if much has changed. And no it’s the same very tidy with nice walking paths great for a good walk and listen to nature. Then if new to the place the information centre is great and the castle itself is interesting. Nice views from the top

Grounds were closed due to weather. Still went in to see the castle on foot but the shop was closed, the castle had no entry and there was no vehicle access. All despite google maps saying it was open. Hopefully they can communicate better in the future so as to not mislead tourists who don’t have a lot of time.

Took 5 mins to walk round the castle, as it wasn't open, the views as great but limited by trees, woodland walks was good,scenery garden needed a bit of maintaining. Staff in the shop are nice and friendly.

I walked through Victoria Park when I visited Stafford. It was a nice, sunny day. I thought that the park was really pretty. I was impressed with the Victorian style buildings, the bridges and range of amenities within the park.

We had a great afternoon out here with our 2.5 year old son. We walked along the river, feeding seeds to the ducks and pigeons (remember to bring seeds, nuts, peas etc to feed them!), and then we went to the playground. The playground was fab! Its really fun, and very well maintained! It had things for kids of all ages, including swings, older kids rope play areas, younger kids slides and seesaw, a trampoline built into the floor, and so much more! It was a lovely day when we came, and we managed to stay for hours! Definitely recommend!

The park is beautiful and spacious. There is an aviary and glasshouse at one end. There's also Albert's cafe next to them. On the opposite side of the park, there is a children's play park. The river Sow runs through the park, and paths for walks along it. Most of the park is accessible for wheelchairs but the glass house may be difficult. There are also a few steep bridges around the park but there are alternative paths. Toilets are also available near the cafe. There are plenty of benches and rest areas. The park is across the road from the train station, and right next to the town centre.

It’s the only park in the region, that is offering more than a just park, there is a river, playground activities suitable for all children age, access to toilet, different birds species in a massive outdoor cage, coffee shop, ice cream van (seasonal) and lots of flowers and roses. It is just next to the Stafford train station.

Victoria Park in autumn⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ It is a wonderful park with clean air that people of all ages can go to. Clean and well-maintained in every aspect👏👏👏👏👏 It gives peace and happiness with its swans swimming in the water, baby ducks and chirping bird sounds. I feel renewed. Playground and park for children There is a cafe with glass on all sides. You will enjoy drinking your coffee. Toilets are very clean. Just opposite the train station, very close to the market and paid parking lots.

Lovely park to stroll through and take everything in. You have the café,the averies, the River Sow,the lovely bridges,the swans,the fantastic kids play area and one of the nicest public toilets.We were totally surprised by it all and it's all situated in the town centre.Its a must see and a real pleasure.

Nice Park with sandpit and fountain area for children plus slide and swings. Small cafe & nice gardens with circular walk and tropical greenhouse & aviary. Close to Stafford Town centre & railway station.

Its amazing here! Statues, wall around the river, plenty of wildlife and even have a snake and lizard and plants is a big green house which you can walk around for free! Beautiful park for everyone!

Really pretty park, although it was funny how the river flooded and the benches were underwater.

Beautiful park with ducks, swans and peasants. Plenty of benches for you to sit on as family. Overpriced cafeteria and ice cream van (where jacket potato costs £7-8, and ice cream cone costs £4) so it's better to bring your own food. Parking is very cheap on Sunday at Victoria Street Car Park

Stafford Town Park.. A beautiful entertaining park. Since revamp it's new bird aviary. Large children park area for all ages of children. The river is lovely to see wild life and walk along. Also provides a seated, food venue and bowling can be arranged🎳 .. During the summer months, annually it provides Family days, music days Stafford people do love his area.! During bad weather and winter months be aware the river can over flow. Obviously always avoid During these periods as hazards !. During snow this park still looks good. Sometimes ice skating 💺is provided. My advice google, in advance but most definitely worth a visit. 🙂💪🏽

Beautiful park great for a walk out with the family to feed the ducks, always kept tidy and the flower displays are so pretty. The playground seems a little dated in comparison with the rest of the park though.

Beautiful park with something for everyone. Toilets are clean and restaurant is peaceful with nice choices of cakes. Cool skate park for avid skaters too. The reptile botanical garden is lovely too with the lovely birds outside.

Nice little local wildlife centre. It’s connected to a garden centre with a cafe, which is a bonus. Definitely worth the £5 per adult price.

Such a great little wildlife centre that is full of amazing animals to see. If you are there at around 2 p.m. you might be able to catch the birds of prey show, which is really good and lasts around 20 minutes. In all honesty I think they should be charging more than £5 for an adult as its well worth the money, and great value for what you get to see.

Amazing wildlife centre, doing wonderful work to save and preserve many species. The bird of prey show is excellent too. Gate money goes to the charity and there’s a play area and mini train ride to keep the kids entertained as well. Highly recommend a visit.

Lovely little place and have been a few times now. I had all my questions answered by the lovely staff and watched a hawk train for a short while. Enjoyable to walk around and learn about the history of each bird/creature but a lot of them have a sad back story. Will definitely return next year.

Lovely place to visit. Staff are excellent especially Jordan who seemed to know everything about all the animals. The mad monkey was funny, as it didn't like Jordan & made it clear (see photo). A great place for a family visit, picnic & play areas, bird flying arena. Also connected to a garden centre with a nice cafe. Beautiful countryside setting. Will be going back for more visits.

Fantastic little day out! We were not sure what to expect, as we had never been here before, but we had a great time. We were 2 adults and a 4 year old child. We came for the wildlife centre, which was well cared for and better than expected, but we also checked out the garden centre, the waffle shop, the cafe, the kids Park and the little train experience. The wildlife park had over 100 animals including a huge array of birds, wild dogs, wild cats, meerkats, Shetland ponies, emu, snakes and lizards, an array of small monkeys and more! It opens at 11am. The tickets were £14 between the 3 of us to get in (which is so cheap at £5 for adults and £4 for kids) and you can come and go all day. The staff held bird displays which were informative and entertaining. It was well kept, and the animals are clearly well looked after. The little train is only £2 each and takes you around the outside of the wildlife park, and was great for kids and adults! The little gift shops for the train and wildlife park didn't have a huge amount of items to buy, but there was still a nice selection of items and really cheap. The cafe was reasonably priced, with friendly staff and it tasted nice. The waffle shop was reasonably priced (£10 for 4 scoops of icecream), and it was so yummy! The little adventure park had lots of swings, lots of wooden climbing things and lots of space to run around! There are also lots of pic nic benches in the centre for parents! The car park is free, and a reasonable size. Overall, for a few hours to a day total, it was a cheap and thoroughly enjoyable day out. 10/10- would recommend!!

Will go back again 😃 lovely day out. Go through the garden centre, past the little mini golf and then you'll see a mini train which is 2.00 per person with a little play area for the kiddies.. next to it is the wildlife 5.00 for adults. 4.00 for children free for toddler/babies xxx

Over gud not over priced . £5, pounds for adults. Children under 4 free. Friendly staff. Went on Friday morning nice quiet place . Plus the garden centre next door . Worth a vist. For tea rooms. Spent over 3 hours looks at different animals. Train ride is 2 pounds sadly was on my vist. But enjoy it. Its chairty wild centre. So every penny counts. Don't expect Chester zoo. But overall nice place to visit.

First time visiting and was impressed. £5 for adults, believe they’re a registered charity so didn’t mind this at all. Good information on animals there … and there’s a good range of animals. Also lots of other things to do on the site such as a park / trains etc. can also re enter and see the wildlife again with the same ticket on the same day.

My boyfriend and I came here last weekend and we had such a lovely day. There are lots of different animals and birds here and they are clearly loved and well cared for by the volunteers. There are little plaques outside each enclosure which give you detailed information about the personality of each individual animal as well as where they have come from previously and how they're getting on since being in the sanctuary. This is a lovely touch which you often don't get in animal visitor attractions and showed the keepers really care about the animals as individuals. One of the volunteers also let us stroke one of the bearded dragons 'Boris' whilst he was doing a welfare check which was lovely! The price was only £5 each entry which was very reasonable for what we got to see. There is also a lovely big garden centre, and cafe next to it which is nice. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again soon!

This isn't a massive place, but it's an amazing day out. So many animals to see!! And your ticket allows entry all day so you can go and come back as many times as needed. Mini golf was only £1.50 per person. Thoroughly enjoyed this. ☺️

All the animals are lovely but special shout out to Rebel the Raven! Lots to see and learn about, and the volunteers are all so friendly. Only cost us £5 each and honestly its well worth the money. Will be visiting again!

I found this place by chance and it is wonderful. Only £5 per adult and £4 for children over 3, it was fabulous value for money. A great variety of animals, and a lovely birds of Prey display which was super informative (as well as humorous thanks to some characterful birds and fab display host!). Just outside the wildlife centre entrance, there is a lovely little train ride (£2pp) and a wooden park area. Ice creams available from various locations there. I will certainly be back and will recommend 😊

Nice little place can go around see the animals then go to the cafe have some delicious food 😋 and get back to the animals again
