Casina Vanvitelliana is a small museum in the Campi Flegrei region. It has interesting architecture, location and history. But you can learn more about its history from the locals than from the museum officials. There is little information, the house is quite dilapidated, its museum arrangement is at the amateur level. The Casina on itself is nice, the sorroundings are just awful. Question: why do they feel the need to divide the parking spot from the park using a rusty metal net? Do they understand they are ruining the place? Is that difficult to divide them by a wooden fence? Also, been there a couples of times cause the timetable is not reliable and found it closed. Shameful.

This is such a cute little park and the old hunting lodge is visually striking perched over the water. There are some great vignettes for a photo shoot. Parking can be tricky if it's sunset or a busy day. Also if you have a large Amerian vehicle or can be tough to find a spot.

It is a lovely little gem overlooked by the crowds. There are nice pictures to be taken if you love photography.

Very cool, out of the way, opportunity to see a well maintained cistern visited for centuries, if not millennia by figures great and small. Be aware that tours are only given in Italian, but still an interesting experience of acoustics and ambience.

This is an amazing archeological location. This is a magnificent Roman water collecting tank that was probably used by the Roman Navy. The tank is empty and looks like a cathedral. It is mostly subterranean and almost invisible from outside. There is a small staircase to get there. It is just stunning.

A great hour or so tour of something truly special in bella Napoli! This was the cistern or water storage area for the Roman fleet of ships that were homeported in Miseno. The water came from the mountains and was stored here underground. You can find info on line. We paid 7 euro for the tour and our tour guide and he was excellent- speaking in both English and Italian. He normally gives tours to Japanese groups (if you need a tour guide, find him on FB.) Trust me when I say, the pictures don’t do it justice, this underground cistern for storing water for the Roman fleet headquartered in Miseno is HUGE and impressive!

Very nice to walk the grounds and castle wall, but the museum is small and seems to be missing, well a lot. The castle is beautiful and allows a wonderful place to stroll, and overlook the bay of Pozzuoli but the museum is small (or closed?) and lacks any sort of flow or map or understanding what’s on display. Yes there are signs in English and Italian, but they describe the individual items. There’s no comprehensive understanding of the museum or totality of the collection. I was here years ago and I remember being impressed, is the other part closed for renovations or?? They have a nice restroom and a few areas to sit in the shade. Worth a visit, but with reduced expectations for the museum.

If you want to see artefacts from various parts of Campi Flegreii, you are at the right place. The exhibit is separated by locations. Each location is very briefly introducted to the visitors and then he can see some statues, stabs etc. On the other hand, if you want to get more familiar with the way of life o ancient Romans or if you want to see the medieval caste, it is not a place for you. Regardless, there are beautiful views over the Bay of Pozzuoli from here.

However, little history on the building itself and it has been completely renovated on the inside, so don't expect to walk into a historical looking castle/fortress. Still worthwile, however. Utterly not worth the walk to get to. The castle itself is ruined photogenically with excessive signage. Very little of the grounds are accessible. The museum inside has NO history about the castle itself, only a few small archeaological collections of roman and prehistoric findings from the area (which does not hold up in comparison to much better museums in Naples).
