This was a great experience. We took a guide person and paid 450 rs to him and which was a good thing to to as he takes you quickly to the important places that you need to visit. There are too many monkeys so avoid food pack with you.

Full of historical beauties. Most of the forts are present as ruins, but the structure of the intact temples prove the vastness and the delicate architecture of the Chittaurgarh. Really beautiful ambience. But be aware from the monkeys and avoid the noon time because of high heat.

First of all it is not just a fort ! Literally a whole town is inside it !! A lot of driving will be involved here ! But this is just a marvelous piece of architecture! There is not one site, but it has about 9-10 different visiting locations inside the fort ! It will take you almost 3 days to visit the complete location properly ! You can travel via Auto inside the fort premises, so no issues of that But the fort and everything inside it is just beautiful! 😍

One should must visit this fort atleast once. It's our history and our cultural heritage. Perimeter is 13 KM. Saw विजय स्तंभ, महारानी पद्मिनी महल, कीर्ति स्तंभ etc. Saw the original battlefield of Chittor war. There is a cafe cum restaurant is also there inside & view is mesmerizing from its terrace. I enjoyed the sunset from the fort which was one of the best sunset views I have ever seen.

To visit the fort thoroughly you will need a good 5-6 hours. As this is one the biggest forts in India with so many mahals, temples and other complexes inside it. From The era of Raja Ratan Singh (The mighty Rajput)and Khalji. The buildings saw better days. According to the guides, the protest surrounding this area caused some destruction inside, which was never repaired. Though the place was nice. A historical place but still needs some maintenance.

Padmini palace is beautiful..there are two palace for Rani padmini one is for Summers and one is for winter.the palace for summer is in between the lake..there is no accessbility to go in that palace which is in between the lake but yes you can have the view of it.

The Maharani Padmini Palace is located in the south of chittorgarh fort. It's a beautiful 3 storied palace. It is one of the most visited place of the fort. It is situated in lotus pond for which a staircase leads to here. But you can only see the palace from outside from a viewing platform.

It was build in 14th century by a jain marchant. Height of the tower is 22 m. It has finest sculpture outside wall of the tower. It has all total 6 floor.

The place offers you history and a spectacular view..many of the monuments are left are remains of the war. There are temples and monuments like the victory tower here. It's better to have a guided visit .You can negotiate the prize too if they are locals. Overall I loved the place.

Must visit. I would suggest to go in the morning as soon as it opens at 8am. As the day progress crowd increases and u will have to park car away from the Fort. Hire a govt certified guide at the entrance of Fort, believe me its a must. Give more time to visit the Fort and all its part leisurely. We were really thrilled listening the stories of our Kings, their valor and wonderful monument they had constructed. There are hundreds of temple in and around the Fort, try to visit few. Fort is beautiful. The architecture and design are unique. What makes it more unique is it's surrounded by mountains which gives eye soothing experience. Best time to visit is in the evening to watch the sunset and then the light show on the fort. Built during the 18th century by Biherwal Mahajan Sanaya, Kirti Stambh is dedicated to Rishabha, the first Tirthankara of Jainism. This seven storied tower has an impressive five-feet-high statue of the Rishabha. Nestled in the Chittorgarh fort, this fort is built in Solanki architecture. There is a narrow stairway which leads through the seven storeys to the top. On the top floor there is an observation hall which offers a panoramic view of Chittorgarh city. It's a beautiful fort. As usual destroyed by the Mughals. It's now a world heritage site. The Rajasthan Govt should free it from all encroachments and develop it. Requires a lot of restoration work. The sound and light show is worth a visit though much improvement is required.

The fort is extremely beautiful. We hired guide for us in INR850 and auto rikshaw for 600. He hyped up that the fort is extremely large and you cannot cover it on your own. You’ll need a guide blah blah. But I guess the guide was not needed. I would say if you are aware of little bit of history then don’t hire guide, because the story is mentioned at almost every place in Chittorgarh fort. Like at “Johar Place” everything is mentioned. And guide didn’t let us take pictures of ourselves. He was continuously saying “we have to cover the fort please hurry up”. He covered whole fort in 1.5hours. I’m extremely disappointed that he didn’t let us take pictures of the places. Obviously this is the one time place to visit for us, as it is very far from where I belong, we are not going to Chittorgarh every day. So if you’re a content creator like me or simply who loves to capture everything, then don’t hire guide. Explore the fort on your own.

A marvelous fort which is really well maintained. The ticket for the whole fort costs only 40 rs. and the vehicle parking costs 40rs. I would suggest taking a guide as the fort has so much history that it is worth listening to. The guide might cost around rs. 200-400.

Large area to discover and nice options for photos. Entrance fee locals vs foreigners is factor 12 which is far outside a reasonable range. No audio guide, no explanation material included in the entrance fee. Toilets if available are not useable.

What an incredible feat of architecture and engineering! This was truly a marvel of the 11th century, and do much history too. It's worth hiring a licensed guide at the site, there is a fair amount of driving involved to go from site to site besides the main fort, as the entire fort complex is spread out quite far.

The fort is amazing and great for its history and the way it is constructed. Nice place for a day visit and photography. It could have been better preserved, and the Archeological survey of India, who are supposed to protect it is doing a bad job. There is lots of waste and the pathways are not properly maintained to all the attractions. No proper direction, information is only given in Hindi in a UNESCO World Heritage site. Tuk tuk guides and other guides are everywhere and there are no regulations in place to ensure quality. The museum has only one floor open with some limited exhibits. The top floor is closed for no reason. There is mismanagement happening. A lot of old structures are being turned into temples with flags displayed with no respect to the fort and the history behind it.

Meera Bai (1498-1547) was a Rajput princess of Merta, who worshipped Lord Krishna as her Divine Lover. Meera was unwillingly married to Bhoj Raj, son of Rana Sangram Singh, in 1516. Bhoj Raj died of battle wounds in 1521, & thereafter she was persecuted by her in-laws for her religious devotion. Meera Bai was jailed in this palace by Vikram Singh. She spent her days in her private Krishna temple composing devotional songs. Later Meera left to Merta, but finding that she was not welcomed there, she finally settled in Dwarka. According to popular belief, she miraculously merged with the idol of Krishna in 1547.

Chittorgarh Fort is renowned as the Water Fort. About forty percent of the fort is covered with water bodies in the form of ponds locally known as talabs, wells or, kunds and step wells or baories. Originally eighty four water bodies were built within the seven hundred hectares of the fort area. At present only twenty two water bodies sustain. Any reservoir on an average will take one up to two meters below surface. Together the water bodies present in the Fort of Chittorgarh can store up to four billion liters of water which is sufficient last for an entire year. It can quench the thirst for fifty thousand lives for a span of four years. The Gaumukh Reservoir, one of the eighty four water bodies of the fort is filled with water to this day. The nomenclature refers to the cow shaped mouth which serves water to the reservoir. The Gaumukh kund is admired by the visitors as the ‘Tirth Raj’ of Chittorgarh. It is believed that after touring various holy places in India, Hindus need to visit the Gaumukh Kund in Chittorgarh to complete their holy journey. Water incessantly flows from the cow shaped mouth into the kund or the reservoir. The kund is considered to be a natural spring. The origin of the water is possibly an aquifer. As per hydrogeology, at some places beneath the surface of the earth, layers of permeable rocks, sand and silt can have water reserve. This stored water creeping out into the surface of the earth results in formation of aquifers. A Shivling and an icon of Goddess Lakshmi adorn the base of the Gaumukh where the water falls. Numerous fishes dwell in this reservoir. Although feeding fishes is considered auspicious in Hinduism, however, fishes in the Gaumukh Reservoir are fed by most of the tourists irrespective of religious bent. During the three famous sieges when the enemy troops cut down the essential supplies to the Chittorgarh Fort, The Gaumukh Reservoir served water to the inhabitants for days together. The reservoir can be located near the Samadheswar Temple inside the Chittorgarh Fort. It is advised to be cautious of the steep staircases of the reservoir.

The Gomukh Kund is a reservoir and well inside the fort complex of Chittorgarh. This is probably the most picturesque spots in the whole of the complex, if not the city. It’s also the spot that’s often used for tourism promotional photos for the city. The water is enclosed by a tall cliff on one side and what looks like a low wall on the Chittorgarh city side. There’s even a submerged temple under the water and I climbed down to the reservoir to take a look. The sanctum is submerged up to about a metre from the roof, but it doesn’t stop devotees worshipping. Interesting, but the picturesque photos are probably more important.

Flowing of water continues 365 days but the source of water is not known This reservoir was the main source of water during the numerous sieges. Just adjacent to Gaumukh kund there is a temple with a statue of Rani Padmini & an Akhand Jyoti is kept burning 365 days. There is also a tunnel that goes to subterranean chamber of Kumbha Palace which is closed now. According to the famous folk tale, Rani Padmini committed sati in the underground chamber.

Gaumukh Kund is said to be holy water body situated on the western part of the Chittorgarh Fort. 'Gaumukh' translates to 'mouth of a cow'. The water flows by the cracks in the rocks and in due course, falls into the reservoir. The view is serene. Tourists are allowed to feed the fishes of the reservoir. Rani Bindar Tunnel located close to this reservoir is also a noted attraction.
