It's an interesting museum to see some kind pf parasite and knowledge behind it. Mostly served in Japanese but they have some English media. Worth a quick visit if you're in Nakameguro.

Mostly Japanese text but there are English options on the touch screens. It’s about a 15-30 minute visit, longer if you want to gaze at the specimens. Creepy.

After being introduced on TV, this place has gotten a lot more visitors apparently. Entrance is free, but the quality of the exhibit is very high. The place isn’t big at all - practically the size of a small house in Japan. There are 2 floors, with the bottom floor showing the collection of different specimens of parasites to both humans and animals. The upper floor houses more information on parasite lifecycles, where they are commonly found, and what effects they have on their hosts. There’s also a small souvenir shop on the upper floor - make to check out the 3 types of keychains they sell which contain actual parasites. Many parts of the museum have English explanations and content, but unfortunatey not everything.

This museum is a remarkable exhibition space that showcases the field of parasitology and its history in Japan. The majority of the descriptions are presented in Japanese, although complimentary Wi-Fi and QR codes are available for visitors to access detailed information in English and other languages on their personal devices. When I visited the museum, there were approximately 6 people inside and it was quite easy to navigate. If it's crowded (>20 people at the same time), it may not be easy to walk around and I might consider going there at a different time. The museum is located within a ten-minute walking distance from the nearest subway station, Meguro Station, and easy to find as the museum is facing the main street. To fully experience the museum, it is recommended to allocate between 30 minutes to two hours for the visit.

Quite strange but interesting museum! You’ll be amazed what those “creatures” look like and how got into bodies. Plus it’s FREE! It’s a two-storey bldg. Around 15min walk from Meguro Station so it’s really accessible.

A very unique and interesting little museum. Most exhibits have a QR code leading to translated information. It's small, and won't take too much time to get through, but it is quite interesting to see. It's by donation, and if you visit, I urge you to leave a donation.

Yuk! Amazing what can get under your skin, bugwise! Loads of parasites in glass jars and it may be a small museum but to pass the time in this area, it's great.

Free entry! It's a comfortable walk from the station but I would try to avoid going on a hot and sunny day. The museum is small so you'll go through it quick. They have English descriptions and audios for the exhibits. It was very interesting and I thought it was cool. There are also many restaurants on the way to the museum.

It's free 🙂👍 Fascinating and unique museum about parasites in both animals and humans. It's a fairly small building with concise information and parasites preserved in jars for you to see. I found the top section of the museum to be the most interesting as it's completely focused on parasites in humans. There are some really nasty ones that I hope to never have in my body. I definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area.

Beautiful museum with 2 exhibitions that were available to view at the time. Revolution 9: Homma Takashi and After the Landscape Theory. Bought tickets for both which I highly encourage. There’s lockers available for storing your bags which I recommend using. While a rather small art museum, you can freely digest the works here at your own pace. The gift shop is quite extensive with the numerous photography books available featuring Japanese and western photographers.

Wonderful institution with marvelous resources! Most of the staffs are very nice and helpful. However, I would like to mention that there is one middle aged library lady with glasses who is rude and extremely strict (to the extent that it is "pointless") to the library users. For instance, instead of using 敬語 (honorific speech), she would use タメ口(tameguchi) to the people and treat them like "CHILDREN." I thought perhaps her attitude comes from the fact that I am a foreigner (a case which is not too difficult to find in Japan) but she kept that attitude to all people who were using the library so I guess that is her personality? I feel very uncomfortable about this. But please don't mistake me. Most of the staffs are super nice, angelic and helpful. It is unfortunate how one person can sometimes ruin the entire impression/experience....

It was ok for a rainy day, there were only 2 exhibitions which you can see in one hour.

Inspiring and re-humanizing. Super special museum, thoughtfully curated and presented. Cozy, comfort food cafe with vintage photo/design ‘zines to view whilst waiting on lunch. Current exhibits are all treasures, however, the vast tribute/temporary exhibition of late, master Japanese nature photographer, Hoshino Michio, is an absolute must-see.

The place to see and explore this visual art form is at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum in Meguro, which was the first of its kind built in Japan. Amusingly enough, it also calls itself the ‘Top Museum,’ which if nothing else is a rather memorable moniker. Those wishing to learn more about Japanese photography in general should pay a visit to the library on the fourth floor. It’s free and open to the public, with a good selection of reference materials, though these are primarily in Japanese. The museum also organizes lectures, workshops and photography-related events from time to time. Entrance fees vary by exhibition, so be sure to check their website before visiting.

Lovely museum. They had 3 exhibitions going on while I was there (one at each level) and you could choose which ones you wanted to visit. One exhibition cost around 1000 yen, 2 around 1500 yen and 3 at 2000 yen. I love the photography exhibition about Tokyo the most. The prints were beautiful and impressive. They also allow cameras. Makes for a great visit if you are popping by the area!

A museum just the way I like it something that is missing from the Western ones. Superb design, really quiet and a focus on the actual photography. Impeccably clean and slick, I thank the organisers so allowing me to observe the works without noise. European museums should take notes on how to emphasise art and manners first.

I walked out after 10 minutes. Not a very large collection. One decent exhibition on second floor third room i believe. But in general i felt uninspired. Some of the installations were PAINFULLY cliche.

Worth visiting if you're in the area; a bright and spacious place situated on a small hill. Several nice cherry blossoms flowering just now. You can take photos around the site, but not looking into the main shrine.

Surprisingly large and interesting buddhist temple complex in Meguro ward. The monument to the person that figured out how to propagate sweet potatoes was particularly interesting. There's a circuit you can do to worship all the represented bhodivistas.

Recommend to visit during Sakura festival

l visited Ryūsen-ji on 1st January 2023, it was very crowded and waited in the line for a while. However, it was worth. Very charming, a must see. #Tokyo #Temple

Wide enough temple in a busy city! the temple is bit far from meguro station, but if you took a bus, it will save your energy. but this place if worth visit if you love temple with natural japanese feeling, sometimes, a festival also being held there!

瀧泉寺 Ryūsenji/目黒不動尊 Meguro Fudōson Temple. Meguro Ward is named for the black eyed deity enshrined here. The shrine is accessed either by the Men's or Women's Slope stairs. Even after climbing the slopes, there are still more stairs ascending to the sanctuary. There are many statues scattered around the precincts of the temple that are worth attention.

We accidentially bumped into this place. It is beautiful and has no tourists at all. I actually cale back here to do a photoshoot as I found it such a magical place and super photogenic!

You can enjoy the Japanese traditional festival that called 縁日（en-nichi）in every month 28th. In summer, you can enjoy 盆踊り（Bon-dance）too.

The pinkest spot I've seen in Japan so far, beautiful ambiance, it has music, and It's a very instagrameable place. No parking on site. Coin parkings near by.

This is a heaven for sweet lover~ In this sweet forest there are many stall and selling different type of dessert around the world~ I enjoy the silent and sweet atmosphere~have a peaceful time in this busy city~

Located 5 minutes away from jiyugaoka station. It's basically a food court with many small shops inside. The price is a little expensive. The indoor decoration is very romantic, might be a good place to take your partner.

Fun place. It's similar to other food courts in Japan that center around a geographic or historical theme, but conjures a candy-land vibe. It's difficult to rate the shops inside, because I think they change from time to time.

The place is very instagramable! There's alot of options to choose from. Not so many people when we visited.

LE SOUFFLE. Height, flavor, texture. The tallest souffle I have ever eaten. It was so good, so fluffy, so delicious, with the rich beautiful raspberry sauce. I will come back again, and get the large size.

A very nice garden with a very nice and unique view. Even accessing the garden is unique and not necessarily easy to find. During the right season you will also find an abundance of flowers

Great views over nakameguro and lots of stools and grassy areas to have a picnic. There are plenty of public toilets and beautiful gardens. I recommend this spot for lunch or just chilling with some friends. Elevator access makes it easy to get to the gardens without having to climb the stairs if you are with elderly family or have children with prams. On a clear day you can even glimpse Fuji.

Nice, peaceful, free hidden spot to discover. It’s not the tallest view but it does have a very pleasant free garden to roam around and get a bit of a view of Meguro. It was nice to get away from the crowds and noise.

Decent place, can be a little confusing to get to. There is a turf court entrance that leads to an elevator that you can take up.

Impressive use of space and a nice escape from the valley of darkness beneath the Tomei expressway. Not really worth going out of your way to see, but if you need to kill 30 minutes it’s great. The entrance is a bit hard to find- see my photos for the stairway entrance.

It’s as if nothing has changed since the last time I was here about 4 years ago. It’s a garden that sits on the second floor of some building but is accessible by the public from the street below. Still haven’t been able to enter the library in the area. Many people, presumably residents, walk their dogs. There are plants and flowers. On some spots you can see the sunset and a view of the city. There are no restaurants or places to buy food. There are areas where one can sit though, including on the grass.

While the Sky Garden (in my personal opinion) is not so spectacular that it warrants a trip to the arae just to visit it, it is very nice if you already are close and want to take a break! Due to the garden being high up, you can enjoy quiet within the city and catch a breather from the busy city life.

Nice garden that sits on top of the building. It has an impressive design where the garden circles the rooftop of the building and takes you to the library. It is a good place to go and relax. There are lots of benches for sitting and there is a place where you can see the garden + city view.

Meguro Sky Garden is a beautiful garden located on top of a building next to Meguro River. It’s easily accessible within 5 minutes from Ikejiri-ōhashi Station. You can relax and enjoy the quiet garden with the surrounding view of the city.

The staff was rude and following people around to make sure no one was touching anything. The house is full of rules and signs, can’t touch this, can’t touch that, can’t use this toilet etc. Also a bunch of rules about photography. They didn’t say no tripod and only commercial shoots are allowed, however their staff was very rude and strict about taking photos. You can’t possibly enjoy the place because the staff ruins it. Also there’s nothing inside the building to see, no furniture or important art work. You’re better off going to the Edo Tokyo Outdoor Architecture Museum in Koganei. This place is not worth even ¥100 entry fee or any of your time.

I visited this traditional Japanese house in Daikanyama, Tokyo on a cold and rainy day but was still impressed by its beauty. Only 100 Yen to enter, the gardens were beautiful and peaceful and the two story house, a joy to walk through. The house, built in the early 20th century, has survived earthquakes and world wars.

This is beautiful Japanese traditional house near Daikanyama station. It's not crowded and you can enjoy Japanese architecture and beautiful garden. It costs ¥100 for adults, ¥50 for junior high school age and below. Free fo visitors aged 60 or over. :))

Beautiful Taisho era building (over 100 years old) that used to be Mr Asakura’s residence. Beautiful garden. If you forget to wear socks, you will be requested to purchase it for 100 yen. Medium size large size. The entrance fee cost 100 yen.

A very peaceful and quiet traditional 2-level Japanese house near Shibuya for an entrance ticket of 100¥. I was there on a Sunday and only a few others. Typical to Japanese culture, be prepared to take off your shoes when entering the house. The space and elegant furnishing of the interior adds to the serenity of the home. Love how the windows and doors of the interior are intentionally design to connect with the exterior garden and sunlight. I can feel my whole person quiet down with deeper and slower breathing as I walk through the space. The garden is worth spending some time too just to take in the tranquility of the atmosphere. At certain points where the boundary of the garden is near to popular shops outside, the chatter and noise can be heard but still not much disturbance to the peace within. Worth a visit when around the area to slow down.

Amazing gardens. Azaleas were in bloom when we visited. Great paths through the hilly gardens, made the place feel even bigger. The house was beautiful. I wish there were more signs with more information. A great home to explore to experience an traditional, old Japanese house. The drawing rooms look out into the greenest gardens. I could definitely live in this house!

Beautiful. Hidden gem in Daikanyama but lots of bugs. Be sure to bring bug spray and a pair of socks. They require you to wear one when going inside the house.

(it's only 100yen!) I'm...OBSESSED! I thought I'd found a secret gem (like every tourist), and I did! I went an hour before closing so not too many people, and I was able to get some stunning shots of the garden & house sans people. It's unlikely that I'll ever live in this kind of house (I wish), but it's inspired me to pursue gardening in the future! 🤭

If you love Japanese culture, this is a must in your itinerary. It's like having an immersive experience in those Japanese dramas, movies, anime that you love so much. You get to walk on those tatami floors, see those sliding doors and walk a beautiful garden. BRING MOSQUITO REPELLENT.

I was surprised when I found this place. I visited Daikanyama many times and I pass through this street so many times though, I couldn`t find this cozy, traditional sight seeing spot over 20 years!! This huge building was belonged to Asakura klan ( I believe almost all Japanese people don`t know them). The usher gave us explanation that The head has created Daikanyama town from scratch. Unfortunately, the usher can only speak Japanese. But you can feel atmosphere of Japanese Traditional life style in here. Entrance fee is just 100 Yen (≒0.7 dollar) as of Mar.2024.

We went in the early afternoon and with very few people on the grounds felt like we had the place to ourselves. The garden around the home is amazing, the tour through the house is very cool. Old Japanese home built in the mid 1800s is worth the 100 yen to see what true simplicity feels like. Stop by and take a minute to take a deep breath and relax!

It's nice. Yes, it's a walk from the station. Yes, you may encounter this type of home in your trip to Japan. But this place has been held together for a long while. We were bustling to hit places and this one gave a reprieve from all the people. There were elderly guides there to help guide you which way to go, to show you some items of interest. But in our trip to Japan, this was different, which is why the five stars. We went after lunch.

In a city that sometimes feels overridden with crowds and lines, I felt like I had this whole place to myself one beautiful Sunday morning. Stunning.

Interesting little house, entrance fee is 100yen. Make sure to bring/wear socks, because to go inside the building you need to take your shoes off. If you don't have socks, you can buy them for 100yen. The garden is also beautiful but a lot of mosquitoes.

An true pleasure and privilege to spend time here. Having the beautifully presented house and garden to myself (with a friendly staff member) one weekday morning made for an unforgettable experience. Anyone remotely interested in traditional Japanese architecture will be delighted. Highly recommended.
