We did a stop here as part of a test run for a new Saltspring Hop On Hop Off Bus Tour offering. Interesting place, with the ability to look at the goats that the cheese comes from, and peer through a window at the cheesemakers at work. They also provided for tastings in addition to of course, selling their product. There is also a restaurant on site.

Cheese was super yummy! Very unique & tasted amazing! Jam was also awesome! However, learnt the hard way that you can’t take the cheese & jam through airport security! We purchased a whole bunch to bring home with us and it all got confiscated 😭

You can see the goats that give them the milk to make the cheese. Cheese makers are visible from the outside through the windows. It was interesting to watch them make the cheese. They have many delicious, soft cheeses and spreads to sample and for purchase. The pizza sold out but it looked absolutely delicious. It should be noted that the two side by side bathrooms are very nice and well kept.

Beautiful drive to get to this wonderful farm. You can visit their animals, walk around the farm, learn about making cheese and of course: taste and buy cheese, snacks, drinks and more.

Great place to come as a tourist. While they get goat milk shipped in volume for production, there’s goats on-site which are quite entertaining. You can some some of the cheese production from outside through windows. The shop is small, but nice and you can get goat milk ice cream, which is amazing. Highly recommend.

Can't really pinpoint why, but this place didn't give me as much of the fuzzy, warm, charming feeling I was hoping for. It's a large place, in a beautiful location, with lots of sampling. Their cheeses and jams were tasty. We tried a pizza that was also tasty. It gave off a well-run, industrialized feel. Maybe the staff wasn't as warm and welcoming or enthusiastic in presenting their products? Maybe it was because they limited sampling to 3 samples per person despite it being not a very busy day? I was told it's an institution on the island and would still recommend a visit if you're visiting. You may find it more charming than I did.

Awesome local artisan cheeses. Made from the milk from the goats on their farm. Highly recommend.

Cute little place! The goats are fun to see although you cannot interact with them. The cheese tasting was amazing, they had several soft cheeses to try and all were delicious. I recommend the mango goat milk ice cream. It was very tasty! Great spot to stop by if you’re on the island and looking for something to do!

We visited this farm mid of may! We found the drive to this pretty beautiful!! Unfortunately, we were there very close to the closing time so dint get to spend much time but it felt good taking a quick walk around! The goat milk icecreams were amazing! We tried mango and that was yum!! You could taste a different cheese options there.. they all are delicious to be honest!! Loved it! Definitely going to visit this and buy some cheese every time I am in salt spring island!!

I always purchase salt spring island cheeses from Costco but I can't imagine this much variety, Unbelievable. A combination of jams and cheeses is awesome. It's a great gift for everyone who likes cheese. The beautiful farm on a huge land. You can see the goats very close. You don't have a lot of options for ice cream but acceptable. They sell fresh goat meat. We saw their jams at PEI (Canada's east side)

I love this place! Incredible cheese, lovely condiments to go with your choice at the tasting centre. The staff is always very friendly and helpful. Their Ice cream is amazing, Carmel is my favorite. i took my mother in law for some fresh made pizza and ice cream that we enjoyed in the beautiful garden seating. The only reason I couldn't give 5 stars is because they accidentally gave me a gluten pizza instead of gluten free. I had a bite prior to realizing the mistake. They did remedy the situation by making the gluten free pizza right away.

Was a highlight for us on Salt spring! Great place for lunch and souvenir shopping. We got the margherita and truffle chèvre pizzas which were small but mighty. Decently filling with great pizza dough and crust. Enjoyed margherita more but as someone who doesn’t like pesto, the truffle one was enjoyable! They have a small garden to wander into, goats, chickens (one of them had been digging a hole with a rooster by its side from when we got there and was still at it when we left, which was amusing), and plaques describing their cheese making process. You can buy chocolates, spreads, gelato and their cheeses in the small shop. They’ll have some for you to sample. Taste and textures are really nice. Loved the blue Juliette, tapenade and st Jo feta.

Ruckle Park is a beautiful destination with endless trails with lots of lookouts and small beaches along its coastal line. There is a heritage farm and It has a large camp ground overlooking the ocean with areas for large groups and fire pits. There are no showers, but the outhouses are clean and there is access to fresh water. It is dog and child friendly. There isn't a playground, but there are many outdoor activities that can be created in its beautiful wilderness. I live here on Salt Spring Island now, but I have camped there before I moved here and found the campground to be clean, and safe.

This is a beautiful marine park. The hike along the water's edge is great. You will be able to walk onto the rocks in some areas to lie in the sun or just explore the shoreline. Some picnic tables available. In my opinion, a must visit if you're on Salt Spring.

Beautiful park with lots of wildlife– we saw a pod of three orcas and a momma deer with her fawn on the first night. The park operators were all extremely helpful and understanding, and the campers were friendly and respectful as well... exempt a select few individuals when the crowds started pouring in for the long weekend. The walk-in aspect of the park deters motorhomes, RVs, bus-sized trailers and their generators, which makes for a nicer camping experience. Wheelbarrows are provided at the parking lot to help campers lug their stuff to and from their campsites. There are a lot of hikes in the campground and a lack of heavily gravelled paths (which I like) and due to its close proximity to the town you can stay for a long time and regularly pick up supplies. I love how accessible this campground is for campers with small cars as it can be hard to find good quiet spots that can be accessed without an all-terrain vehicle. Remember to clean up after yourself and be respectful of the animals who's habitat we share when we camp in these wonderful places.

Beautiful park but the different trails were not well marked. We headed to the right and ended up walking past the walk-in campsites and then ended up at Ruckle Farm. I think we would have preferred going the other direction. We still enjoyed the views of the water and all the sailboats passing.

Even on a cloudy day, this is a beautiful spot. The beach is lovely, if you dig you should find some sea glass. There a various walking trails to explore. Some cute little historical buildings are scattered in a field for viewing the exterior and into windows. In the spring/summer there tends to be wild turkey and other birds wondering about. Often times the sheep from near by farms are also roaming the fields and crossing the road.

Beautiful campground. Best enjoyed during the day and camping off season when it’s less crowded. Park rangers were very pleasant. One of the few campsites with many FCFS

Absolutely amazing, magical camp spot. Lots of spots along the water with plenty of space and privacy. Sit and watch the sunset and sunrise with a spectacular view. Also saw a barred owl sitting in a tree when I was walking back to my campsite one evening, such a cool experience.

We loaded our class b van onto the ferry and ventured over to Salt Spring Island. 35 minute ride. Drove 15 minutes to Ruckle and stayed in spot 7 one of the 5 first come first served RV spots. The RV spots were all full but one by 7 pm. Dark forested campground with just a short walk to the coast where the views are beautiful. The campground is often full of tent campers as they are able to camp right on the beach. We enjoyed our one night. This wouldn’t have been a multi night spot for us - but a nice overnight trip for sure. The old farmstead is amazing. Great birds and wildlife. Fabulous views of the islands. Ferry ticket is good for transport over and back so don’t throw it away! Food is so so at the pub by the ferry. Local population were not super friendly. We did enjoy a visit to the cheese farm. Loved the garlic cheese and we hear the pizza on Fridays is amazing.

Superb spot for camping, short walk from the car park, plenty of sites to choose from. Perfect spot for a quiet few nights camping on Salt Spring. Will be back

We did the loop. It's about 8KM. Trail by the water is nice. Fresh air, great views! We saw some farm animals, cows, bulls, turkey, sheep, etc. But wouldn't recommend the loop if you like ocean more than the forest. Camping site is by the water. Amazing!

A favourite spot to go for a walk. Sometimes damp so wear appropriate foot wear with good tread. Different walking loops to choose from and places to sit along the way. Beautiful sunrise view! ☆ This working farm *used* to let the baby lambies roam where you could see (and even interact with) them for decades; a real favourite with locals & tourists alike. Unfortunately, the last couple years they have chosen to keep them hidden (along with the baby highland cattle) in favour of promoting paid farm tours. Really a bummer.

The most beautiful, diverse park. There are beautiful hiking/walking trails that weave between breathtaking oceanfront views, to forests, to farm fields. We wanted to have our wedding ceremony here, but opted not to because of it being on SSI so a bit limiting for vendors etc. but it absolutely would be breathtaking for that. There is also a campground that is hike in only (no car access to sites), and the sites are all right up against the ocean on the bluffs. Incredible experience. There is an active farm operation within the park so dogs must be on leash at all times.

The views at the top are absolutely stunning, absolutely worth the time, but you'll likely have to hike up now, the road up has been deteriorating for years now, and has been rendered impassable for anything less than a 4x4

My civic went up. Would not go when nearing dark times or rainy/ snowy weather though. Well worth it though. Best view I've seen. Comparable to the hikes I've been on, but still like this more.

Usually hike up but drove this time. The road is still in really bad shape from erosion. 4x4 and high clearance recommended. Had AWD but needed to park and hike up the last 2-3 km. Worth going up for the views from multiple directions.

The mount Maxwell lookout has an amazing view but be extra careful on the way up. Vehicles equipped with 4x4 engines are preferred. Don’t go if the weather is challenging.

It’s one of the most beautiful view points I have ever seen. The road is hard on lower cars. I would suggest only 4 wheel drive and drive carefully buffer it worth going !

Rough road to reach the top, not advisable for cars or low vehicles but any truck or SUV/CUV will be fine. Amazing views from the top, several benches for enjoying the view and some picnic tables around.

Awesome hike and views, start half way up if you can and hike up it the rest of the way, very rewarding, I recommend trail # 4!

Mount Maxwell is a must see to get the complete Salt Spring experience. Very beautiful forests and views. You need a vehicle with clearance because the last 5 kms of road is “rugged”

Mt. Maxwell treats you well. Easy hike and amazing views of the Salt Spring Island. P.s. There is poor network connectivity, so stay only during daylight hours.

Epic View's and rest areas once you've reach the Lookout ❣️ this is one of the best Lookouts I've been to in awhile 😲 You can hike up or bike , even 4X your way up. The drive up is awesome, you'll come across a bump or two 😁❤️ Then you get to the views 🤯 wow This is a must do💯🔥❤️❣️👍🏽 So Beautiful ❤️🔥💯

The road to the top of the mountain is very rough. You cannot get to the top unless you have a 4 wheel drive and good ground clearance or walk. The area is beautiful. There is a restroom at the top of the mountain by the parking area. There is a large picnic table at the top of the mountain and several benches at to look out.

The road up is in terrible condition def follow the warning signs about 4x4. Dont go if you don't want to maybe wreck your car or are experienced. Nice views!

So fun! It was snowing when I went. The roads and forests were covered in a blanket of white! Magic! My 4x4 and I loved the last bit of rough rugged road. The view from the top is usually breathtaking but alas it was foggy. Beautiful still just different. There are picnic tables so you can enjoy the area at your leisure. A must-see! I'll be back for sure.

A definite must do when visiting Salt Spring Island. It is one of the best markets that we've been to. They have a big selection and a plethora of stands. It's a very lively environment and always nice to see little entrepreneurs as well. I highly recommend that you do your best to visit on the weekend, so that you don't miss this market on Saturday. Be sure to get there early in order to have the beat selection.

Market was amazing! All the vendors are amazing to talk to. Gardeners Dream Cream is the best product i have ever used and to meet the creator was great. She is such an amazing person. I will come back to the market often specifically for that one product.

They don’t enforce the dog rule, which is frustrating when I go out of my way to make arrangements for care for my dog and then go to the market and there are a tonne of dogs there. Went for open, 0900 because I had arranged dog care and vendors were still starting to set up. Limited produce and food vendor stalls to shop from. Lots of jewelry and crafts.

Worth visiting!! It’s little crowded and finding a parking nearby is a pain so try and go as early as you can!! When we visited, there was an option for doggy day care! They had a fenced section sort of setting where you could leave your dog for 20 dollar an hour! I think it was great and it allowed us sometime to explore the market. Dogs aren’t allowed in the market… although we saw a lot of people walking with the dogs!

We make an annual trip to Salt Spring Island, and always enjoy going to the market. Many of the folks who sell stuff here are really talented, but we haven't bought anything in a couple of years because it seems to be the same stuff every year. If you've never been, check it out (and be prepared for high prices). If you have been before, you don't need to go again.

There are 2 farmers markets in Ganges. Tuesday is totally food/produce oriented. Saturday is 70% arts/crafts/clothing and 30% produce/baked items/sauces/etc. Saturday's is well attended for sure, so arriving soon after the 9am opening is advisable for the best produce and breads. Even if you buy nothing, it is still a stimulating and interesting experience. We've gone many times and hope to go many more.

We had lots of fun walking around the Saturday market when we visited salt spring. Most places have samples to try before you buy. Make sure you are prepared with cash as some places do not accept card or touch payments. Make sure to try the locally made ciders and the goods from the distillery.

Great market to check out! If you’re looking to get something for cheap, you won’t find it here though. There are Tons of interesting quality items to buy from locals. They put so much time and love into their products and the prices do reflect that. Fun way to spend your Saturday

The market is, in a word, awesome! They have more vendors than ever selling everything from pies to goats milk soap, clothes, to ceramics, and beyond. There's also entertainment: talented kids playing instruments or selling crafts, bluegrass bands, etc.etc. Go early for best selection and to (somewhat) avoid the crowds. But go...it's sooo fun!!

I was a little disappointed in the Saturday Market on Salt Spring. There were lots of vendors but few stood out as really interesting or unique. There were some beautiful pottery pieces and a couple jewelry vendors that stood out. Maybe my expectations were too high since the island is renowned for its artist community it overall it was a typical farmers market. The food options also weren’t particularly appealing

Such a great time. Decently sized market with a good variety of stands, including produce, locally crafted soaps, baked goods, clothing, and a variety of art. Even if you don't buy anything (but you very likely will), it's a nice way to spend your Saturday morning. You're right in the centre of Ganges so you can explore the waterfront or other shops when you're done. Dogs unfortunately aren't allowed but we snuck our little one into a handbag and nobody seemed to mind.

Great variety the arts, food, and people. Hadn't been on Salt Spring Island for over 20 years. Still the same great experience. Definitely recommend for a day trip, away from the hustle & bustle. Found meself, some beautiful local art to take home with me.

Cute little market with lots of different vendors selling food, jewelry, cider, kitchenware, crystals, etc! Pretty crowded because it's a Saturday, but still enjoyable. The market is next to many popular restaurants and in walking distance to all the popular stores in Ganges. Parking could be improved but we found a spot pretty easily on a side street. I did feel a little bad about crowding the neighborhoods though.

Market was awesome! Lots of made in Saltspring vendors and a variety of products for everyone. Great outdoor dance party with an awesome DJ. Good vibes all around!

Always a wonderful time fresh fruits, vegetables. Locally made treats, artists selling their wares. It's a one of a kind experience

Not worth stopping for. The vineyard is unkempt. The wines taste okay. Remind me of something my aunt would have made at home without a facility. The hosts are out of their depth but well intentioned. I'm sure they are good people, but not great in customer service. Stingy pours. What a shame. If you go, be direct with the person pouring your wine else you may never leave or get your second pour. They will be engrossed in conversations or their own world.

We were here in August and we were not impressed. The place is in dire need of some TLC and some Reno’s. The guy working there never explained anything about the wine and was totally focused on one lady. I purchased the Pinot Noir rose that I tasted and we took it to our friends as a gift. It was terrible and was undrinkable. 4 of us tasted it and all agreed it was off.Also it had some sediment on the bottom of the bottle and it was cloudy.Worst $30 I ever spent!

Great time there with Susan doing the wine tasting! She also gives a lot of tips to do around the place. If you like the easy-to-drink wines, definitely come to the place and talk to the sweet lady!

Been coming here for years and always have a great tasting and lovely picnic; however, it must be under new ownership as the grounds are unkempt (always have been beautifully taken care of in the past) and the woman who served us barely acknowledged us and was talking on the phone the whole time we were there. Thought the whole thing was quite weird!

Randy didn’t know anything about wine but he was a lot of fun and provided an entertaining wine tasting experience. I’ve been to this winery many times over the last 10 years & I agree with the recent reviews- it used to be a beautiful winery but it has really gone downhill (obviously neglected & unkempt). It’s unclear as to whether they are currently producing wine.

Great place to visit! Do take the time to do the wine tasting before buying a bottle to enjoy at one of the picnic tables next to the pond. The atmosphere does not dissapoint. They sell local made artisian breads, cheese and chocolates that you can enjoy with your wine. My only wish would be that they carry some locally made gluten free bread so that I could partake in the goodies with my friends when we visit.

Cute winery with outdoor picnic space where you can watch turkey vultures and eagles overhead. We did a tasting (I think we tried 6 for $5). They didn’t have any reds available at the time, which was a little unfortunate but we enjoyed their Charme Prosecco outside.

Enjoyed tasting the wines although it was kinda rushed and each variety was just poured into the same glass one after the other. It was also just done standing at the counter so felt a little rushed and odd. I did buy two bottles to take with me.

Beautiful setting. Their blackberry dessert wine is delicious. Staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome.

Honestly a bit of a strange place. The wine is really good. Especially the blackberry and cranberry dessert wines. The 4 for $10 tasting is a decent deal and it’s nice that it’s free if you buy a bottle. The man working in the tasting room made the experience very strange. He spent almost 40 minutes talking at us about space, a secret government, aliens, and demons. He also was more involved in aimlessly walking around than helping us with the tasting. We would ask for the wine we wanted and he would just pour and wouldn’t tell us anything about the wines. Seemed a bit confused/lost the entire time we were there.

Stopped here on weekend trip to Saltspring with some girlfriends. The service was super friendly, and you can buy a bottle and relax in the sunshine on their little patio area outside. Definitely recommend- and, as others have said, their blackberry port is amazing!! They do only have a small selection of wines for tasting from their list, so keep that in mind when choosing to visit.

You should never go to Salt Spring Island or any other of the Gulf islands for that matter they are some of the most unwelcoming places to outsiders unless they're robbing you blind. I've lived here for 2 years and it is a well-known fact among locals that they will overcharge anyone who is not a local and treat anyone who hasn't been a local for over 10 years like they're dirt. Generally a bad place all around and you should not support its economy in the slightest.

Great staff here. Too bad we will never return to Saltspring because of several bad and dangerous drivers on the roads. We were travelling by bike and too many cars were passing on the crest of hills or when oncoming traffic was present. Some were passing dangerously close to us at high speed. I do not recommend cycling on this death trap island.

It's so heart-warming when you land up in a new place and the people just blow your mind with their jovial nature and empathy. Hats off to the volunteers who work here! They have made a long-lasting impression on me. That aside, great information and detailed brochures available for travellers. You should visit this centre without fail when you come to Salt Springs.

Very helpful ladies manning the counter here. We were inquiring about the Salt Spring flag, and they quickly were asking other people to get us the answer (which is in Victoria, by the way). They will undoubtedly be able to answer whatever Salt Spring questions you have.

The staff was very helpful. Gave us some good tips on where to go. Lots of information available.
