The tour guide was very entertaining. I loved the number of cats residing on the premises. They're all so sweet and one can easily walk up to them and pet them. Some of them are even putting on a pretty good show. I don't know if they've been trained so well or if they're just so smart. The house itself is kept in decent condition and pretty nice book store they have at the end of the tour. Good place to see at least once in a lifetime.

Great visit to The Hemingway Home. Make sure you bring cash as that is all they accept. We decided to not do the tour as it was going to be a 45 minute wait and toward our self. There was air-conditioning and fans inside the house that did help with it being so hot outside. We love touring the home it was very quick and easily can be done in 15-20 minutes. Then we toured the grounds and the guest house where we saw tons of adorable Hemingway cats. The cats were so sweet and liked to be petted. They were cats all over the grounds, and it was always fun to spot a new one and say hi. They have a gift shop with lots of books and gift souvenirs. All in all it was a great visit.

Anyplace where you get to pet/interact with 54 cats is my kind of place!! FYI the house itself is air conditioned! Our tour guide Debbie was phenomenal, so engaging and informative but also funny. We had fun trying to find cats in hidden places on the property. The male employee at the front ticket booth was sooo slow while everyone in line was baking in the brutal sun. One of those people who thinks he’s hilarious and chatty but was sarcastic in a rude way towards my friend.

Very nice museum. We took the guided tour that was included in the $18 price (bring cash to avoid 4% fee). The tour was about 30 minutes and talked about his family life, his 4 wives, life in Paris and Key West, the house, and cats. Currently, the museum has 61 cats. You can see his writing studio that, per our guide, was preserved. I strongly recommend.

Tour guide was very nice and added a bunch of good information without being over the top. Lots of cats to see and pet if you would like. The gift shop is small but had a lot of choices. The gardens are lovely and you can walk around them while you wait for a tour to start. Total time 45 minutes with tour, gardens, and gift shop. House is air conditioned.

This was a very worthwhile stop during our vacation. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative. The history lesson is very engaging. The house and the grounds are beautiful. I am a dog person but the cats were so cool. Sweet and chill. So well taken care of. You would think with over 60 cats it might be gross or stink but it did not. The workers take such great care of the property and animals. It’s definitely worth the visit. If you do the tour you are not wondering aimlessly, you are getting a history lesson.

I'm an English teacher and the Hemingway house has been on my "must-see" list for decades. My daughter and I took a ten hour drive for a Spring Break trip to the Keys last week and this was the main reason. It did not disappoint. When you arrive and pay at the house (cash only), you can choose to go on the tour with a guide or do self guided. We visited on two different days and did both. I would highly recommend the guided tour at least once because we learned so much. Then, walk around alone later to see the details away from the group. The house is beautiful and situated next to a lighthouse with gorgeous gardens. The six toed cats are an absolute highlight and they were everywhere! All descendants of Hemingway's cat, there are currently 58 of them at the home. They are allowed on the furniture and in the bookstore. I sat down and one immediately jumped in my lap in the garden. Such a fabulous experience. They even have a cute gift shop (credit accepted) where you can buy all kinds of items to remember it by. Such a wonderful place for a literature geek like myself. We went twice and I would love to someday get back there to do it again. Highly recommended, but get there early (9am opening) to avoid the massive crowds.

A fun and entertaining tour every 30 minutes. The home is beautiful and has all the charm a person could expect. After the tour you can explore the home on your own and relax outside. The house is full of six-toed cats. They are everywhere. You can pet them. Tour guides are friendly and open to questions. Gift shop a little pricey. If you are in Key West, this piece of history will delight you.

Such a fun tour to take while in Key West! They do accept card at the bookstore and for entrance fee. The grounds are beautiful and the house/writing studio is full of history. The guided tours can be a little big and it makes it a little hard to hear, but you can go back through on your own and read most of the things you miss. The cats are definitely a plus! They are very friendly.

The tour was perfect length of time, about 20 min. Then I roamed the rooms and read all the excerpts. Loved the 6 toed cats (61 of them) that were free to roam anywhere along the grounds and in the house. Every museum should have cats to pet.

The Hemingway house is beautiful and has and obvious attraction due to the man himself. It was definitely interesting and something to see, but be warned, it is small and packed full of people! They ask that you don't go in the rooms that they are doing yhe guided tours in but that ends up being like every room. Again, it's something to see. But if you're not into big crowds it may not be for you.

Honestly one of the best historical spots to visit in Key West! The home is beautiful with cats everywhere! So if you have allergies stay away! But it’s so green, oldish, and lavish example on how these folks lived back in day! Light House across the street.

Loved the Hemingway House! The history is interesting & guides are extremely informative. However, the best part is all the cats. I have a Hemingway cat at home, and it was so fun seeing all her cousins! I attached three photos of my favorite cats. Super sweet & kind kitties, and lots of history!

Loved all the cats. There were so many to see. They are super friendly and enjoy all the attention from visitors. Many place themselves in locations where they know they will receive attention. The house and grounds are well maintained. A lot of interesting facts and stories about Hemingway's life. It is cash only, but they have an ATM on site.

What a lovely experience visiting the Hemingway House and Museum. Our tour started walking through the lush garden area and it was not long before we realized how much cats were a part of the experience. Yes, we saw 6-toed cats, cats on his bed, the cat house, and the cat cemetery. The home was beautiful and contained many old items. Our tour guide gave us one of the best tours I think I’ve ever experienced. He was pleasant, informative, and downright funny. I strongly recommend taking the walking guided tour. The 30 minutes is well worth it.

Had a wonderful time roaming the grounds & taking in all the history. The guides gave insight facts about the house. Luv all the kitties on the grounds. Each with their own personalities. Definitely recommend taking the time to see this place.

I’ve always wanted to visit this fabulous house because I love Hemingway and cats! The cats were so cool and it is amazing that they are related to Hemingway’s original cats. There are 61 cats! They are friendly and super cool. The house is beautiful. Hemingway’s writing room was fun to see too. There is a nice gift store as well. It is a must see if in Key West.

We visited around 3:45 pm on a Sunday and it was moderately busy but only 2 groups ahead of us in line. There was a tour starting at 4 or you could do a self guided walk through of the house, grounds, and writing studio (in a carriage house, you can’t enter the actual room but go to the top of the stairs and view it through bars). LOTS (63) of adorable kitties that are “pet at your own risk.” You can pet them but not pick them up. Some cats were open to petting and some not. Beautiful, historical, very helpful guides! The little gift shop had many Hemingway books and short stories. Highly recommend for literature, architecture and/or cat enthusiasts.

During our trip to Key West, we took a trip to the Hemingway house. It was a fantastic and authentic feeling look at history. You can tell the love and care that goes into preserving, sharing, and showing the history. I would highly recommend the visit for history and book enthusiasts. Even if you do not enjoy his novels, it’s a brilliant insight into the past of one of the most prolific American novelists.

We visited the The Hemingway Home and Museum while touring Key west. Located on the corner Whitehead and Olivia Streets and right across the street from the Key West Lighthouse. The house and grounds were spectacular. With beautiful tropical gardens surrounding the home where the descendants of Earnest Hemingway's cats still roam. Although you can take a self guided tour of the house and property, we opted to take the guided tour. Our tour guide was very informative and knowledgeable and obviously had a passion for everything Hemingway. It was great to learn about Hemingway's life and the history of the property as well as see where Hemingway lived and wrote many of his notable novels and short stories. There is a gift shop where you can purchase memorabilia and some of his works.

Great property to explore - lots of information and history. Can jump in on any tour if something was missed on your original one as the groups can be big. Can self explore at any time. Entertaining tour guides. Super clean bathrooms. $2 cold drinks. Definitely left educated & with stories !

One of the main attractions for me to visit Key West. We visited on December 26 and due to the holidays there was about a 30 minute wait for the guided tour , however, you can roam around in the house on your own during the wait time. Tickets are not cheap, about $40 per adult but the guided tour and interesting tid bits make it worth it. The tour and our own exploring lasted about 2-2.5 hours in the house. There are cats everywhere, so make sure you like cats before you enter 😊 . Our guide Sarah had a lot of knowledge and took time to explain the key events of Hemingway's life as well as his years in the house. Definitely worth a visit.

The visit was amazing. The cats were so friendly! One even climbed into our laps while we were sitting on a bench. We decided to go self-guided, which was done pretty easily because of the signs, which are pretty informative. Though, the guided tour seems nice, and is included. We spent around 2 hours there. If you like literature, history, and/or cats it’s an amazing place to go!

Very interesting and informative - to include the famous 6-toed cats..! Guided tours were available as part of the admission costs. There are additional bike racks inside the museum if there is no place to secure them outside on the sidewalk.

Loved the history of this town and this house was our first stop. Go ahead and do the guided tour as you hear a lot more detail … you’re then free to go back thru slowly on your own. Fun looking for all the cats (descendants of Hemingway’s six-toed cat Snowball). They are everywhere! 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

This place was absolutely beautiful. The sunset and the boats on the water were something I will never forget. Like something u see In a movie or on a postcard. Whether its a trip with friends or a romantic getaway with ur loved one, if you find yourself in the keys take the time to stop and watch the sunset. It definitely hits a little different here.

This just happens every day. Fun little outdoor open air, public gathering. They have some street performers and places to get snacks and alcoholic drinks. And you get to watch the sunset. All in all it is good for what it is, but honestly if you’ve seen a sunset before you could skip this.

A beautiful place to watch the sunset. It can definitely get to be quite crowded around sunset time, but it is really a nice place to hang out, meet people and take beautiful photos. It is a very nice vibe there so that you can stick around a little bit after the sun has set and grab some food to eat while the colours of the sky fade. The boats on the horizon will also help set the mood and landscape for your photos.

I didn't even know that this place existed. I was visiting the area with a group of people. It was brought to her attention that many patrons love to sit and bear witness to the end of day sunset here. After waiting what seemed an eternity, the sunset finally came, and I must say it was absolutely beautiful. I'm so glad we were in the area, and we got to see the sunset. If you're in the area at the end of the day, I would absolutely recommend this place!

Gorgeous Sunset. The place is filled with entertainment, and small food shops. Arts and crafts with different vibes. Good place for kids, family, and couples. Safe and you can sit and watch the sunset.

Best spot to watch sunset in Key west. Perfect photography location. This place gets pretty crowded so get there well in advance to get a good spot. The sail boats silhouette with the setting sun at the background creates a memorable sunset scene! Awesome must visit area.

It's simply the most important thing to do when coming to this town. Head over to Mallory Square at least 30 minutes before sunset, sit on the little wall looking over the sea and west (of course!). Then wait to be inspired and enthralled with the daily show that follows. We were particularly lucky. Not a cloud in the sky. On the evening we were there we only had one busker close by who was strumming some pleasant music. All fantastic. There's nothing more to say...

Maybe it's just change as time passes, or maybe that I'm getting older, but the celebrations in past years (over 40 years, off and on) seemed more lively and festive, with numerous performers and big crowds. This week's celebrations didn't have many performances and vendors far outnumbered them. It's always good, though, when the actual sunset is colorful and bright.

Enjoyed this more than I expected. A LOT of people and a bit of a carnival atmosphere with street performances. Folks will clear out before the sunset is over. We bought Wendys carryout and ate sitting on the brick steps while watching the sunset. View of the sunset is marred by the concrete piers where the big cruise ships dock. I doubt that the cruise ships are ever there when the sun is setting, though, so it is a nice place for a sunset.

It's always a bit crowded, so go early & post up near an entertainer if you wanna watch their show. With kids, just keep a little more close of an eye on them. Glad we came here for the sunset! It was an amazing experience! So many people gathered around to watch the sunset. At first it goes down slow and then you see the sun disappear in seconds beyond the water.

Came here 10 and 16 years ago and there used to be fantastic entertainment and vendors. What happened? There really isn't anything of note other than the sunset. The Cuban band at the neighboring bar was great though.

So much fun to walk up and down and see all the different people and places. So many great bars to make memories. A must do when visiting Key West.

Duval street has a lot of great restaurants, shops and bars. Take the trolley to save your self the hassle of parking. Two hours parking was $29 at one of near by parking lot. There are several paid parking lots or paid street parking. This is a great walkable area. The major cruise lines dock near by. You will find tons of great deals on souvenirs. So many restaurants and bars to choose from.

Fun times with great food, live entertainment, boutiques, name brand stores, and much more!!! Spend the day or the evening, take a tour or just sit and enjoy some drinks !!!!

We had a ball on Duval...Duval Street is the shopping, dining and nightclub central of Key West. A definite must see when visiting Key West. Easy walking from end to end with lots to experience along the way. Running from the piers on the north end of the island all the way to the south end near the southern most point. Everything from gift shops, clothing stores, historic sites, beautiful homes and gardens and of course numerous restaurants and bars. Be sure to stop in at Sloppy Joe's, The Hard Rock Cafe or Margaritaville for live entertainment, dinner or a cold one. and don't forget to top it off with a piece of Key Lime pie from Kermits.

Shop smart...prices for souvenirs are pretty pricey, but deals can be found. Beautiful architecture!

We had a great fun in Key West, the Sunset from The Fury Boat was amazing. Bars and restaurants all are fun. Also, it happened that the Fantasy Fest was going on. Over all, it’s worth the visit.

What a beautiful place!!! Take your time walking through so you can really enjoy the experience. There are so many butterflies, plus birds and flamingos, too!! We loved this so much!! Must check it out. You can get $2 off coupons if you stop at one of the island adventure counters around town. Price otherwise is the same online as it is there, after taxes and fees. And yes, they offer a military discount! Enjoy!!

An absolutely must see in Key West if you are a nature and butterfly lover. In my opinion this is one of the finest butterfly conservatories I have seen. The amplitude and winding design of the landscaping is very well thought out. There are many beautiful tropical birds as well. The butterflies are so plentiful that they are flying all around you. It is a wonderful experience to be surrounded by these magnificent creatures. They have a beautiful gift shop with a huge selection of garden and nature related items including jewelry and wall decor butterfly displays encased in gorgeous acrylic boxes. They have a public parking lot right next door with plenty of spaces. This attraction is very close to the southernmost 90 Miles to Cuba monument. In my list of must sees of Key West this one ranks in the top 3 for sure.

We came here for my daughter’s 4th birthday and WOW. It was so serene and beautiful! The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was cool seeing bird species that I’d never seen before. I highly recommend.

I absolutely had the best time here. The gardens are gorgeous. There are a ton of butterflies that will fly around you and on you. They have birds too. I didn't like the gift shop. Too many items that seemed like a touristy trap and it smelled bad but other than that super friendly staff and beautiful gardens, butterfly, and birds. Oh and they have two flamingos that are so gorgeous. There is parking that you have to pay for right beside it.

This was one of the best experiences I've had and I've done the exhibit where you can put sugar water on your finger and let the butterfly land on you. This was better than that and I didn't even touch not one butterfly. Everything from the butterflies to the birds and flamingos was so fun and colorful with butterflies flying all around you.

Fun for all ages but the kids will love it. So many beautiful butterflies flying around and landing near and even on you. The birds are also a special treat. Be sure to ask the knowledgeable guides how the new butterflies are moved from their “nursery” to their new home. It isn’t how you would expect. Highly recommended. Don’t miss this!

Great fun for the whole family! They not only have butterflies, they also have multiple species of birds. The greenhouse is kept at approximately 80 degrees and 80 percent humidity. Sometimes the butterflies land on you and create great photo opportunities. They also have an extensive gift shop. Would highly recommend you plan a visit when you're here.

If I could give this place 10 I would. It was fantastic. The butterflies were simply beautiful, there are so many and they come right up to you. My grown up daughter & I will always remember visit. Rhett & Scarlett are beautiful and seeing the different stages was so educational. The staff were very polite, professional and knowledgeable.

All the animals are free roaming and sometimes the butterflies land on you. They have a pay to park parking lot next to the building for visitors. Additionally, you can spot a variety of colorful birds, including flamingos and turtles. Spending an hour here is a pure joy, especially for toddlers who will absolutely adore it. The soft music in the background creates a heavenly ambiance reminiscent of scenes from the movie "Avatar." One of the representatives shared that they import butterflies from around the world, nurture them here, and release 45 to 55 butterflies daily into this conservatory. It's fascinating to learn that butterflies have a lifespan ranging from 3 weeks to 3 months. Don't miss the lovely gift shop, which includes exquisite butterfly-themed jewelry for the ladies. The admission fee is $18.5 for adults, and it's worth every penny. What's even better, children under 3 years old get in for free. Plus, once you purchase your ticket, you have the convenience of multiple entries and exits throughout the day, allowing you to enjoy this enchanting place until 4.30 pm. Strollers are not allowed inside. And Bonus Tip : there's a convenient free parking lot behind the conservatory, which is a valuable find in an area where parking can be quite expensive.

This place is around the corner from the southernmost point. We arrived right when they open the doors. Good place to get out of the sun and walk inside a beautiful garden. My kids enjoyed seen all the different colors of butterflies and my son had a butterfly land on his hat. Highly recommended especially for families.

What a pleasant surprise in Key West. The Conservatory is a nice place to see local flowers, plants, flamingos, turtles, birds, and.....butterflies! It is 80 degrees and 80% humidity in the nature area, so keep that in mind if you think you will be getting out of the Florida Sun and into some air conditioning. The tour starts with habitats with caterpillars and the science behind the growing process. You are then let into the greenhouse. This is all self-guided, so take your time. Once you are through, you are greeted by the friendly staff with a butterfly sticker, and then you can visit the gift and artist shop. We had a wonderful time here as this touched two items off our list, nature and botanical in the same visit.

AMAZING!!! It was a rainy day in Key West so it was a perfect time to enjoy butterflies!! We planned on it anyway, but being rainy made it extra fun. The line was long, to be expected and the slow pace rolling through was decent. My boyfriend had about 4 butterflies land on him. I was jealous to be quite frank, but, he’s extra sweet so it made sense!!🙂 There were also 2 beautiful flamingos. While I love seeing animals, I always hate seeing them out of their natural habitat, but they looked very healthy and quite happy!! So I’m sure they are loved well and have the most beautiful butterflies to play with daily. The temp inside is very muggy so prepare to sweat a little! The staff was truly great as you do have to have some patience to navigate in and out of the doors properly to not let any escape. The gift shop had SO many beautiful things and I honestly felt the prices were very reasonable!! Definitely worth the visit!!!

Very small the gift shop is bigger than the garden and it cost $15 per person. We did it to see the flamingos and you do get an up close encounter with them that we enjoyed. They also had some very colorful little birds along with the butterflies.

An amazing place! We loved walking through and seeing all the butterflies. There were so many flying around it was sometimes hard to know where to look. I loved all the birds too. The two flamingos were adorable. All the staff was super helpful and the gift shop had a wide variety of butterfly and garden themed items.

This place was so amazing, unlike anything I've ever experienced. When I walked into the butterfly room I was in awe, the butterflies were everywhere! Scarlett and Rhett the flamingoes were pretty awesome to see too! All the orchids and nature, everything was so awesome! The gift shop has a lot of things that I would have loved to have brought home with me 😍

This is the most wonderful places to visit on the Island!! The butterflies are amazing and they have birds and Flamingos. A wonderful gift shop!! One butterfly actually landed on my head. A truly number one attraction in Key West.

The conservatory is a small room that has a winding path aligned with beautiful foliage (I'm not a plant expert but the leaves and flowers were cool). The path goes through a gazebo and over a little stream where you get to admire the 2 flamingos, a fish, and cute ducks (pretty sure only one was a legitimate duck). The butterflies are everywhere and so are the cute little birds. With the music, environment, and butterflies and birds, it was so serene and beautiful. We also learned a good bit about butterflies that we originally were not aware of, and their gift shop is pretty cute! So stop reading and go... Bring your kid, your grandma, yourself, cause it was worth it.

Really good conservatory! Staff are super friendly, and share all the butterfly tidbits! The birds were a great addition- so cute- and a couple turtles for good measure. I highly recommend if you know you’re going to visit and you want the flamingo encounter to reserve that before you even get to Key West . The 🦩 are Scarlett and Rhett- very pretty-

Highly recommend this beautiful and peaceful place while in Key West. This is one of the best exhibits I have been to in years, and we have visited a few. The multitude of different species of both butterflies, moths, species of birds, plants, and flora were fantastic. We enjoyed the coolness inside, which was just right after being in the heat. The employees were all very kind and helpful and were very informative. Thank you for the great service! The gift shop also offers a wide range of many gifts and memorable things!

Wonderfully maintained conservatory with lots of beautiful butterflies and flamingos (Rhett and Scarlett). Only downside is that you’re done relatively quickly with the walk through (~20 minutes)… enjoyable walk through. If you visit the Hemingway House beforehand, you can get a 2$ discount off your ticket for the Butterfly Conservatory.

We loved it here, it was such a unique experience! We were greeted with a woman who was super helpful, she gave us so many local recommendations and provided us with some information about the conservatory. In-between the entrance and the conservatory doors there was a wall of preserved butterflies and some caterpillars as well. See pictures. When you enter the conservatory through the safety doors (for the safety of the butterflies). Opening the doors was a transformative experience. There was music, and the number of butterflies was impressive. So many cool birds, plants, and butterflies of course. There were so many species of foliage and other wildlife to make this experience. At the very end there is a collection of different cocoons at various stages which was a super cool ending to the experience. You get marked with a sticker before entering the gift shop. There is so many cool butterfly themed things there, and more preserved butterflies as well. This experience was super cool!

One of the most beautiful experiences I have ever had, was walking through the Butterfly House. I didn’t have the chance to be “landed on”… LOL … but just to be in there and see all the different species of butterflies flying around freely was so exquisite. There were also flamingos and turtles. Just a peaceful serene environment; I could’ve sat in there all day. The shop also had a lot of fun things that you could purchase souvenir-wise. Friendly, informative staff.

What a great way to enjoy nature. Cery educational and amazing to see all stages of the beautiful butterflies. It's very magical when a butterfly lands on you. The birds were amazing as well. The flamingos were such a treat! The orchid wall was the icing on the cake!

This is truly a special place that we enjoy every time we visit. They always seem to add new exhibits and offerings. The people are incredibly nice, which can be challenging in Key West. This time we saw the two flamingo birds, which were awesome and have quite then personality. I liked it so much, that I want to return.

I thought I would enjoy this outing, but I left loving it. The moment you walk through the doors to the conservancy you are immersed in butterflies and a lovely walkway surrounded by orchids and tropical plants. The staff answered all of our questions and we would recommend this as an outing. We happened to arrive the day after some quail eggs hatched and that added to the experience. Our teenage kids loved it.

An incredible experience! I’m still in awe weeks later. Everyone should see the Key West Butterfly museum if able. It is worth it. You can also see caterpillars at the beginning stages as well. So educational for ALL ages. It is HOT so beware you may want to take a water with you. The gift shop is also super cute. I purchased a vegan leather Butterfly purse and other adorable butterfly souvenirs. You can even sit along the way and just take it all in on a cute butterfly bench. Highly recommended! I learned so much!

This is a must do when in Key West. The walkthrough is relaxing and beautiful. Besides the butterflys flying past you and sometimes landing on you, there are a pair of bright pink flamingos, turtles, brightly colored birds, and many plants. It's a huge greenhouse full of life. There is a nice gift shop as well that can be visited, even if not paying to see the attraction Admission gets you in for the day, so go early and come back again for a memorable experience.

My wife and I raise Monarch Butterflies each year in Michigan so were thrilled to experience this beautiful opportunity to view so many other species in one place. Well worth taking the time to visit while you are in Key West. Both beautiful and educational. My granddaughter had a smile on her face the entire visit. Also offers a fantastic souvenir and gift shop.

This is my second visit to the Key West Butterfly Conservatory and it is simply phenomenal. It is a wonderful amd magical experience bring surrounded by hundreds of butterflies taking flight around you. There are also little birds flying and scurrying about and two beautiful flamingos Rhett and Scarlett. This will always be one of my most favorite places to visit when I am in Key West.

A wonderful way to spend some time out of the sun. Beautiful flowers, birds, and butterflies of course! Even my husband was busy taking pictures. It is a little warm in there but they do have a few benches if you need to sit. No stairs and an easy way if you have a walker or cane.

This was such a great stop! I loved walking through and feeling like I was transported to a rainforest. Fiance had a butterfly land on him that stayed on his hat and refused to move while we walked. It was beautiful. I loved seeing the different birds. We especially loved the little baby button quails right near the exit. I would definitely suggest stopping by here.

When in Key West visit the Butterfly Conservatory. They land all over you and there are so many beautiful species. Wandering through their habitat is spectacular. The adults and children loved this experience!

We are in the Keys for a wedding and we're about 2 drive away and figured why not make the drive down? When is the next time we will be here and it's too unique of a place not to go and visit. Well had to park over a mile away so I recommend wearing walking shoes and not boat shoes. We also have down on veterans day and got to see several personal from the local military base lining up for a parade. If you're are close to Just West is busy in the Keys, I recommend the trip. The drive is really nice, if not slow but worth it.

The iconic spot to visit in Key West to view the southernmost point on a buoy. Arrive early in the morning to avoid waiting in line. We waited about 25 minutes to take a picture. Watch out for the waves at high tide!

You don't ask any questions. Simply get in the long line, wait for your turn, take a photo and enjoy the views. It's more of a ritual to get a photo clicked here when you are at this part of the country isn't it? The people in the line are nice when it comes to clicking you a photo. Parking was a bit of an issue here. Tip - Don't forget to have fresh tender coconut water straight from the Coconut, sold by street vendors nearby. It's a common thing in India, or any tropical country to have fresh coconut water on a Hot, Sunny day. Never had this in the US outside of the Keys except the store bought ones. It was like a Homecoming feeling for us.

Long wait in the hot sun. Very little parking in the area. Lots of hype. Cool to get a photo and say you have been to this iconic spot though. I can think of better ways to spend my time on the island. We took the trolley to get there and back.

A great little detour way out of our way but so worth the 8hr round trip to visit. Everyone in line to take a photo was so nice and willing to take photos for you while you were there. Glad to be able to share that experience and do something together with my husband that neither of us had seen or been to before.

I've been here a couple of times. It's sort of obligatory although unexciting. It is sort of interesting to interact with people here though. There is a truck that sells coconuts. My first trip here I really enjoyed that but this last time I arrived just as he was packing up for the afternoon. Everything closes early in the Keys. It can be difficult to find a place to park.

As you can see from the map it's not actually the Southernmost point, but the true one is on the Naval base and not very accessible. There is a line to get a picture, but it seems to move along fairly quick. I think I was in line for something like 10 or 15 minutes. It's kinda touristy and may not be worth it if you're low on time. People in line are generally good at taking pictures for one another.

Tourist trap that always has a line stretching around the corner to get a picture taken in front of. My daughter and I ended up just taking a selfie from the side to avoid the wait. It's a beautiful spot, so I would recommend seeing it, but don't be in a hurry. We did enjoy a snow cone there and saw some roosters and babies there, as well. Just wished it wasn't so insanely crowded.

Do you have to go? No. Should you? Probably. It's neat. Is it worth waiting on a long line for a picture with the marker? You decide on the line length I guess. I opted not to and got shots as people swapped out. Watch the water behind as it can jump the wall. It's cool but not a necessity.

Key West is the southernmost point in the continental USA. The farthest out west, the southernmost. Plenty of history , historical sites and lots of activities here are all kinds of water sports. We loved walking around the main streets and shopping. I definitely recommend.

While taking the Old Town Trolley Hop On Hop off tour, we went past the Southernmost point of the United States. From what we could see it was pretty crowded. Lots of tourists taking pictures. You can get off the trolley at any time and wander around if you want because there's another one not too far behind it. We decided to look at other things instead of stopping at this particular beach.

A colored block of concrete — though really iconic and way smaller than you might think. If around must see! Come in the morning. Traveling on the Duval Loop you can get really close. I think it’s stop No10. At the moment very busy and very noisy environment, due to nearby construction. PS : please make sure to read the inscription and description next to it. Also you might find a Easter-Egg, “The Cable Hut”, I really found interesting. Also the statue next to them (unfortunately the description is very hard to read; please city of Key West, fix that). Also the house on the lane have interesting historical facts. PPS : I could not see the island of Cuba. Not even sure if it is possible, though telling you I tried. PPPS : don’t take too long, since there are many people who wishes to immortalize this iconic moment. Enjoy !

This is a must visit location if you are coming down to the keys. Just a photo point but memorable one. You can easily walk around the city. If you are coming by car make sure to properly park as it’s a paid parking garage everywhere even on the streets. We drove from Miami, parked at a lot and spent full day key west walking around and saw lot of attractions around. Nearby bars are really good specially the ones on the boardwalk.

Iconic. Memorable. Free. Get a selfie or a group photo at least once in your lifetime. Waiting line looks awful at times, but it is worth it especially if it’s your first time here. Finding a parking spot isn’t too bad, but be prepared to spend $5-$15 for paid street parking. If you are a frugal person, then you can park about 1/2 mile from the spot for free.

I highly recommend arriving at sunrise!! Lest you wait in a line that stretches a block lol. We did go at dawn... and it was a nice experience. We got to hang around and not feel rushed. The area needs some serious repairs and has areas that are blocked off... but once they fix it, it'll be really cool!! We had a nice morning.

Definitely worth a visit if you're in Key West. If not for the fort, for the beautiful beach. My wife and I drove in, and I think the cost was about $7. There is a cost regardless of how you enter, but nominal. The fort is awesome! Great tidbits of history. Awesome views, both inside and on top of the fort. The beach is beautiful, but a little rocky/Shelly, so I'd take water shoes or something to make walking near the water more comfortable. It looks like they're extending the beach too, which might help with cruises. It's not a big beach, so I imagine it can get crowded with a cruise ship in Port. There's also a short nature trail, but when we went, it was mostly closed for renovation

The only beach I enjoy in Key West. Nice picnic area with tables or you can rent lounger chair and umbrella. Great food spot with covered sitting area. Must wear water shoes to swim because of rocks.

Beautiful beach/water. When we went, there was a jelly fish warning and the waves were a bit bigger than normal and the undertoe was pretty strong. The beach and ocean looked very pretty. It was popular for sunbathing because it was packed and there was a line waiting to pay just to enter the park. Going into the water it is all rocks so if you don't have tough feet or water shoes, I suggest getting one of the two. The chairs and umbrella are not cheap but nothing in KW is. I give it a three because I prefer to go in the water with ease and have room enough to move around. Just because it was pretty doesn't get 5 stars. I have experienced much better beaches.

After a day's long watersports with Fury in the Keys, our body wanted to go to the Hotel to catch some rest. But this being our last evening in the Keys, our mind wanted to be outdoors and catch some Sunset instead and we're glad that we listened to our mind. We were here an hour before Sunset. The beach was very calm and peaceful with very less crowd. We even took a short relaxing nap under the shades overlooking the Sea and woke up in time to view a beautiful Sunset. The beach wasn't fully Sandy. It was more like a gravel, but the water was clear. There is also a small fee to enter this area. Best visited during sunset time.

Great visit to the park. For the nominal entrance fee you get to see the fort and the beach. Parking is free with your entrance ticket. Nice beach if you don't mind rocky bottom. Water is beautiful and iguanas are plentiful. Showers, bathrooms, and concession stands are available. You can easily spend a few hours there relaxing and exploring. Walking distance to downtown shops and restaurants.

Well, here are two things to keep in mind. First is the visit to the fort, which is inside the park. If you want to be well informed, there is a very efficient guide who will explain everything to you. Second, the beach area, which is also inside the park. Is beautiful. with everything, picnic, barbecues, toilets, there is a small bar with food and drinks, you can rent sunbeds if you prefer. It is perfect to spend the whole day, the beach offers the possibility of snorkelling, there are also fishing areas. We paid $7 for two people and a car…there is plenty of parking. It is definitely the best we have seen in Key West and if you are in the area you cannot miss this stop. Come prepared with everything because you will want to stay all day.

Loved this place! One of the few places on the island with some trains through the trees, more shade than other places. Fort was actually very interesting, yet quick to tour. Hope they maintain it. Water from vending machines was not too cold, so maybe bring your own. Cafe at the beach doesn’t have the best of things around to offer, but at least there’s something there. Quite a walk to get in and out of.

This place was absolutely amazing and a must go! Such rich history in the Florida Keys. There are really no words to explain the beauty. It is also cheap if you're on a budget! $7 a car! Not bad at all!!!

If you are in Key West, this is the best option for going to a beautiful place and beach. I'll recommend you to bike/drive there, honestly best option is bicycles as it can get busy with cars/golf carts to get in. They have a decent amount of parking for cars and a lot for bicycles. You can walk there but it's a long walk and under that sun maybe not the best choice unless you are okay with walking a lot to get there. We used bicycles and it was great! $1.50 to get in. I think they have an extra charge for cars. When you are there, there are several places you can chill. They have an area where you can rent an umbrella and Beach chairs, they also have a big area with trees that provide good deserved shade from the sun. There are bathrooms there and showers. The ocean water is great but warm . They have a few spots for you to snorkel and have fun and it's for all ages!!!. Great area to bring kids and families. They have a small restaurant area that serves very food and drinks (alcohol too). And they have a small shop for Beach needs, they close at 5pm when they stop allowing people in, you can wait there and watch the sunset of you want. Very Important: this is a man made beach and it's made out of corals so if you want to have a great experience please bring you water shoes. If not you will have a not so great walk in/out of the beach. It's not sand. Please bring water shoes for everyone!!! We went there 3 times and each one was an amazing experience!!! I highly recommend it!!! 🔥🔥🔥

Great place to sit on the beach, rent an umbrella, and chairs! BRING WATER SHOES/SOCKS......the beach walk-in is rocky, and it's the only way to walk into the water! The water and waves are perfect! The area is large enough that the people rent the equipment and turns over regularly to make room for more people! $40 to rent the umbrella and two loungers, which is reasonable! There's a small restaurant on location to fill all the hunger needs of the family! Terrific park to take the family and hang out! 👍

Smaller park but I enjoyed every inch of it. Good wildlife, interesting history, some sweet little hiking trails, and absolutely beautiful pine wooded beaches. Definitely check it out if you're staying in the keys. Side note, the fort closes at 5, rest of the park after sunset. Don't be like me and show up at 5:05.

Another must see site here in Key West. Our Tour Guide was Charlotte Strickland and she was excellent and had a full history of the Fort and it's use over several wars that involved the United States, starting with the Civil War. All of the Civil War Guns are authentic to the Fort, and the history of how they were discovered buried around the Fort is pretty unique. They only do the Guided Tour once a day, at 11:00 AM, so don't miss it, give yourself some extra time to drive in because mostly like there will be some length of line to pay and enter. The cost to drive in is between $5-$10 depending on how many people are on your car. Walk-ins are only $1.00 and those on a bike, $2.00. The best part is you can use the parking ticket all day, so you can come back later and catch beautiful sunsets like we did overlooking the ocean. After the Tour which was about 60 minutes we walked over to the Beach Cafe and had Lunch overlooking the Ocean Front. Good service and food at the Cafe, plus Beer and Wine. Oh, did I forget to mention that the fee included access to the State Park and awesome Beach, the Southern Most Beach in the United States. This is a complete win for anyone who comes to Key West, history, cool beach, most beautiful water, a State Park with benches and shady areas to enjoy the day, and awesome sunsets that you will always remember. Highly recommended!!!

We loved it here and could've stayed all day!! The fort was so cool to walk around and explore. It's amazing to see how it's held up over the years. We really enjoyed seeing how they used the fort and getting a glimpse back in time. We love history and have been to several forts but this one was really, really neat!

What a great park! The fort is interesting but it was very hot when we were there so we rushed through a bit. The beach is awesome. Clean, picnic tables scattered throughout, some with bbq pits. Family friendly too! We snorkeled on two different days here and it is surprisingly good for a walk-out spot right off the shore! Go toward the three rocky outcroppings and you will find loads of reef fish (parrots, blue tangs, yellow snapper, sargent majors, barracuda, snook, etc.) Earlier in the day or late afternoon are better for visibility and lighter crowds. Also, this is a great place to watch the sunset!

Okay we came here for the beach but we checked out the Fort too!! The beach was clean and amazing!! The only down fall is it is extremely rocky!! We had a picnic bench with a fire grill and plenty of shade! The Fort Awesome but we have been to ones that are much more informative. This one is super fun to just explore and imagine! The views are breathtaking!

There are umbrellas and chairs you can rent. You have to pay to get in. The beach is more rocky than we expected - I was hoping for sandy and clear. The water is murky and rough and maybe it’s this time of year (November). The water is pretty it’s just not super clear like Caribbean island water. We had fun though. It’s a lovely place to relax. There are shady areas and picnic tables. There are grills and benches - it’s big big enough that you can spread out and have space

Good historical place. Plenty of parking. Veterans enter for free. I’m not sure if the lifetime federal parks pass is needed. Restrooms are a 5-10 minute walk away from the actual fort walled premises. Moderate walking for handicap. 2 flights of stairs to get to the top.

A nice state park with a beautiful historic fort, where one can walk along the way, see the cannons, and learn about its impact. Then, one can walk along the trails around the area before ending at the beach. The whole time, one can see the beautiful blue waters around Key West.

Beautiful views and beaches at the furthest reach of Key West. Neat History and fun to explore. Some really interesting stuff to learn about the how’s and why’s of Fort Zachary. The guided tour from the Park Ranger was most interesting. Went arrived pretty early in the day with no trouble getting in or finding parking, but as we were leaving the line at the gate was pretty backed up.

Beautiful place to watch the sunset. There’s quite a few benches and picnic tables to get a seat, as well as ground to spread a picnic blanket. The beach there is quite nice as well. The waters warm and there’s plenty of boats watching the sunset as well. We saw a few dolphins peeping in and out of the water. Parking was $5 and there’s plenty of space. Didn’t see any restrooms except a single portapotty

We stopped here on Easter Sunday specifically for the fort, not so much the beach. Highly recommend you hit this location early as it often reaches capacity, especially on weekends and in peak season. It is dog friendly, however dogs are not allowed into the fort. Completely understandable, so I walked my dog elsewhere while my husband and son toured the fort. It’s a gorgeous fort! Excellent educational experience for all ages! Highly recommend! What a spectacular place to visit!! I've never been to an actual fort and was quite surprised by what we were free to see and the spaces we were allowed to venture into. The display and upkeep was enjoyable to take in. The views from the top of the port were a sight to see! I think I was most excited to see the moat surrounding the fort.

Beautiful park to visit at any time of the day. My personal preference for watching the sunset. Wasn't as packed as Mallory Square, but it was amazing! You can grill, bring your coolers and much more here!
