Went early May for a visit with family on Mother's Day. The grounds are always beautiful with well labeled plants and multiple paved, accessible pathways in addition to dirt and shell/gravel paths. There is seating spread throughout, and a few areas designed for children that they were loving. Note that the Hollow, one children's area, is accessible but one must travel down a steep paved path. There is a huge tree-house in the Hollows area and lots of child-friendly hands on activities. As an adult, I enjoyed them as well. There is a special exhibit museum and the car museum, both worth visiting. I love antique cars and Heritage has them displayed nicely. The place has enough restrooms spread throughout, in buildings, plus a small food concession and a gift shop. It is making some renovations so the checking and gift shop area is less formal but it is all well marked and well staffed. Check the website for what is in bloom and head to Heritage. Plan on spending 2 to 4 hours to walk, explore and relax. Highly recommend.

I love visiting Heritage Museums and Gardens ! Springtime and Gardens Aglow are my personal favorites ! Sadly during my most recent visit, there was construction going on all over. Mountains if sand and large equipment I understand the need for funding but at what sacrifice ? Fewer songbirds ? Peace and serenity ? The gardens are still beautiful and there is a variety of flora but by increasing parking and admittance is certainly going to be detrimental to the ambiance. All in all - still worth a visit.

It was a beautiful day to visit Heritage Museum and Gardens. Lots of flowers in bloom and while it got warm there is plenty of shade. This is definitely a place that you can. Is it multiple times and find something new every time. The car museum was amazing! Loves seeing all the cars so close. They change the cars out so want to go back and see the ones that were hiding in the garage. My only warning is that you need to bring water with you. If you get thirsty on the trails your are out of luck. The water fountains are closed down.

The gardens are breathtakingly beautiful, and I was blown away by the variety of plant species and flowers on display. The nature trails were well-marked and provided an excellent opportunity to explore the gardens while enjoying the scenic views.The exhibits were informative and engaging, and I learned a lot about the history of the area and its significance. There is also an impressive car collection on display. The collection features a wide range of classic cars and automobiles from different eras, making it a must-see for car enthusiasts. The collection includes notable vehicles such as a 1909 Model T Ford, a 1931 Packard 840 Convertible, and a 1962 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud II. Each car is beautifully restored and preserved, showcasing the intricate details and unique features that made them such iconic pieces of automotive history. The car collection is not just limited to cars, but also features several vintage motorcycles and bicycles. Visitors can take a stroll through the exhibit and admire the impressive engineering, design, and craftsmanship of these vintage vehicles. One of the most striking aspects of the car collection is the attention to detail that has gone into each restoration. The cars are immaculately maintained and restored to their original glory, making it feel like you have stepped back in time. In addition to the cars themselves, the exhibit provides information about the history and significance of each vehicle, giving visitors a deeper understanding and appreciation of their place in automotive history. Overall, the car collection at Heritage Gardens is a must-see for anyone with an interest in classic cars and automobiles. The exhibit provides a fascinating look into the history of the automobile and showcases some of the most iconic vehicles of our time.

The Heritage Hydrangeas are sights to behold.. We were told that the Rhododendron are amazing too when flowering. Volunteer guides are friendly and very knowledgeable. The Heritage History of Cape Cod museum is well worth a reflective pause as is the classic Automobile display. That ' 62 Corvette is priceless. How many Stanley Streamers are still around? If you are with little ones, the carousel is fun.

93 degree day! Hot ,but we walked the gardens early and saved the Car exhibit , Carousel, and Cape Cod museum (All air conditioned,) for the end of the day. The workers there were all very friendly sharing bits of history and knowledge whenever we asked . The volunteers were also very knowledgeable and willing to share stories and facts. There were water stations that you could refill your bottles. Tables and benches were scattered throughout so a lunch could be brought in. A snack bar is on the premises but pricey $$$.We chose to eat off site at Captains Seafood Bar and Grill, 71 Tupper Rd Sandwich, MA  Which was superb. We got library passes which let us in for half price $11 instead of the adult fare of &22

It is hard for me to think of a more perfectly lit wedding ceremony, than the one were were invited to photograph here at the Heritage Museums and Gardens. The couple had their ceremony down by the waterfall sculpture, and it felt so private and dramatic all at the same time. The rest of the day was just as sweet, and we were overwhelmed with the amount of really cool locations we could photograph in.

This was a fantastic, unbelievably fun activity! There are a ton of things to do from very old to a very young! There are interactive displays, unbelievably friendly and excited and helpful workers and immaculately maintained grounds. The trails range from paved and smooth to wooded to ground-up shell paths. There are water features that little kids can play with, an extra large sand area with shovels and rakes for a little kids, there are Rube Goldberg’s type activities. The exhibits are incredible. There is a wigwam and a world-class car collection. Unbelievably Simon – if you are even remotely, considering going, you will not be disappointed! 10 stars! Go!

Great place to spend a day! We went in late April and there was lots to see. Enjoyed the auto museum as well! Definitely a must do!

One of our favorite places on the planet. Beautiful botanical gardens, thoughtfully curated exhibits, a beautiful antique carousel, tasty food and cocktails - what's not to love?! We spend a full day exploring all Heritage Museum & Gardens has to offer. From "Hidden Hollow" activities for the kiddos (and those young at heart) to rare antique cars to flowers and fountains - this place has it all! Become members and return year after year. Highly recommend!!

We had a lovely walk in the gardens and then came up on the wonderful Impressionists exhibit. Nature and art in one visit was wonderful. One of the young women working at the exhibit also shared some amazing history of the artists as well. It became a community of art appreciation very quickly. I went with a friend. I plan to return soon with my husband.

The museum has multiple buildings covering a large area, with a beautiful garden to walk through in-between. They specialize in Hydrangeas and Rhododendrons. There is an old Carousel, which is operational, great docents with lots of information. There is an extensive car exhibit and a children's play area, which most young families went straight to. There is a building that houses the history of Cape Cod's changes that came with tourism. Great for museum lovers! There are vehicles to drop you off in some areas if you don't want to walk too much.

This is a must see if you are visiting the Cape. My family and I were on Cape Cod for the weekend and started our day at the Heritage Museum & Gardens based on a couple recommendations from some co-workers who are local to the area. And they were right. It was really fantastic. Such fun exploring and seeing all of the classic cars in the auto museum. My kids loved exploring the grounds following the trails with their maps to find the maze, tree house and more. The grounds are in exquisite condition. So beautifully maintained. We enjoyed a lunch at the café which was perfect as we were all pretty hungry after all of the exploring and hiking. I strongly recommend a visit regardless of your age, and make it a must see if you have kids. Great experiences there for the little ones (12 and under). We will definitely return on our next visit to the Cape!

This place is incredibly beautiful. I stopped by here on the drive home from a Cape Cod vacation, but it ended up being a highlight of the trip! The flowers and sights are gorgeous and abundant. We saw cute little baby turtles on the lily pads by the flume. The museum on Cape Cod tourism history was very engaging and gave a welcome rest from the summer heat. I loved the food at the cafe as well - it was surprisingly delicious and they had lots of healthy options! I would love to come here again during other times of the year to see how the flowers and trees change. 5 stars, you HAVE to come here if you're in the area.

Nice place to walk and relax. There are plenty of benches around the park where I can imagine myself reading a book there. It was going to rain when we came so we had to be mindful of our time. There were not many flowers yet, as the weather is pretty unpredictable this year. Was hoping we could see hydrangea but we came too early. Overall, it’s a huge garden, easy parking, and plenty of room for kids especially to run around.

The grounds are beautiful, gardens have so many varieties of flowers, and there are plenty of benches throughout if you get too tired to walk.

The Sandwich Glass museum took me by surprise... It is much larger and much, much nicer than I could have imagined. It shows a fascinating slide of local history, and I really enjoyed myself tremendously. Not only are the historical exhibits excellent, well lit, well signed (and occasionally, narrated), there are modern pieces that are innovative, beautiful, and fun, as well as live demonstrations. It was great!

Have visited here many times. Filled with the history of Sandwich, fascinating glass blowing demonstrations and beautiful gift shop. I ended up buying a glass bowl by Kate, who happened to be the person demonstrating how to do glass blowing the day I was there. You will not be disappointed.

I absolutely loved the Sandwich Glass Museum. It is chock full of glassware and by the local glass company in particular. We must have spent close to two hours there but could have spent more. I will need to visit it again to view the items towards the end that I just did not have time for. I also loved the live demonstration. They also sell very beautiful items in the store. I will definitely recommend this for people to go and see

Went to visit the gift shop. Will try to actually visit the museum next time. Beautiful artistry on display. Would love to learn the details of the long history or glass making in Sandwich. My mom always loved Cranberry Glass and the Cape. They also have books of Cape related items in the shop as well.

When you are on Cape Cod, visiting the Sandwich Glass Museum is a must on your list. The town is so unique with a rich history of glass making. There is a demonstration free every hour to enjoy and then the rich history to explore of how glass making came to the colonies. Wonderful 2 hour visit before entering cape cod beach. They have displays of making glass every hour. You will see the complete history of the glass made history in Sandwich, as well as those modern glass display. Perfect for family visit.

Loved this little piece of history. The live demo of glass sculpting was awesome! While smaller than the corning museum, a great place to see part of Sandwich, MA history!

There was a great movie to explain the history of the glass company in Sandwich. We really enjoyed the live demonstration of creating a glass pumpkin. I ended up buying a smaller one in the gift shop. I love the different textures on the pumpkin. Also, the vibrant color. While in the middle of the history movie, a bus or two arrived. I wish the people from the bus waited for the next showing instead of walking in and disturbing the people already in the show. The exhibits were interesting, seeing several designs of the same item. Also, guessing what a piece was made for was entertaining and then reading about it. The location was in a village area and very quaint.

We have spent years coming out to the Cape and not sure why we haven’t been here until today. Really great museum of the history of glass making in the area plus they do demos of glass making. It’s definitely larger than I expected and some really great pieces of glass. Definitely recommend checking the place out. Give yourself at least 1 hour so you can catch a demo and take your time going through the museum.

What an amazing experience we had visiting the museum. Watching the artist was my favorite part, they are happy to explain all aspects of the process. They employees are so helpful when picking out a gift and telling you about the artist. Looking for that rare and special gift, you should go to the museum.

Totally enjoyed our FIVE STAR visit to the Sandwich Glass Museum. As a North Carolinian, I had no idea about the history of glass production in this region, nor the wide variety of beautiful products created over the decades. The museum contains thousands of items, large and small, active demonstrations, a brief video presentation, and more. Highly recommended if you're in the Cape Cod / Boston region.

This is our first time visited this Glass Museum. Impressed with the show and many beautiful of glass products. If you plane to go to CapeCod, won’t forget to check this place out. You will like them.

My grand son and I visited all over the cape this summer. The week he was to start kindergarten he picked his favorite spot to revisit. So we came here. The women and Pippi were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

Dave and Samantha were quite amazing as information sources about the Cape and canal operations/history. The Army Corps of Engineers offers a kid-friendly series of activities here in Sandwich. There is a nice overview video to watch in the Center's theater. As an engineer, I could have stayed for far longer to learn more about an 8 mile commercial canal first envisioned in 1825, and then completed by Belmont and Parsons a century later. Take a few of the free informational pamphlets when you leave this little treasure.

Enjoyed watching the boats go through the CANAL.

I wish I had known about this place sooner. The visitor center is like a mini museum. They even show a short film about the history of the canal. Outside, you can sit on a bench and watch the boats go by or walk to the beach.

Super nice women working when we visited. We were greeted warmly, and the ranger on duty was fantastic. She spent quite a while showing us the marine traffic and explaining how boats moved in and out of the canal. My 13 year old was in heaven!

Beautiful place to hang out and get wet! But I would not recommend swimming far since there's seals all around! I had fun!

Nice place to visit, go for a walk. My wife and I sometimes park, have dinner and look at the canal, easy date night.

Great Engineering undertaking for the time and we'll thought out! Beautiful views and good fishing too! It also features a handicap accessible paved path that is flat and extends the entire 6ish miles of the canal.

Very interesting and historic building. Beautiful setting. The tours were closed when we visited, but walking the outside was still worth the visit. Very cool glass windows and hardware can be seen. Would be nice to have some informational signs on the outside.

Very cool history of the oldest house in the cape, the ‘tour guide’ was really fantastic, we learned so much and she kept it entertaining for my kids. Excellent value at $5 per adult.

I am 9th generation of (Hoxie) (with proof). What an amazing town to visit! No one else may be interested and thats alright... (It's been a 5 yr long wait and its checked off my bucket list).. visiting cemeteries looking for family ancestors (couldn't find Lodowick Hoxie 😪) has been great experience. Light houses, seafood, antiques, Beach time, what else could I ask for!! Thank You for a great trip..

Hoxie House in Sandwich was so full of history, and the ladies that work there are so knowledgeable. Loved the loom.. one of 5 in the US from the 1600s still in existence

The Hoxie house is one of the oldest homes in Cape Cod. Although restored , is a strong reflection of the colonial architectural style from the 17-century. There’s a small fee collected for a grand tour , however, self tours are also allowed.
