Majestic example of Chola temple architecture. Everything about this place is a statement of royal grandeur. Thanks to the large-scale restoration work done, the temple still holds the viewer spellbound. During the evening, the lights placed at specific points illuminate the complex beautifully. No surprise then that this place attracts a lot of tourists. One can easily spend a couple of hours here.

This temple is an amazing example of accomplishments of powerful dynasties ruling this region & symbolizes the prowess of Indian civilization. Being able to build such monuments more than 1000 years back is an astounding feat and most of the temple remains intact - at-least in terms of the main structure. It's an architectural marvel with a grand entrance, intricate carvings and large open spaces around the main temple. Temple premises are well maintained and despite some extra weekend crowd, we were able to enjoy the grandeur and beauty of the temple.

History frozen in modern times. Felt like a royal being in this place. Such marvellous architecture, such beautiful carvings and very well maintained. If you are a fan of history, this is definitely a place to go.

Awesome sculptures n construction. Very old temple with very rich culture n heritage passed through kings spanning across centuries. Art paintings made of natural colours still awe the debited devotees. There is lot of carvings on huge single stones which weigh tonnes. This place has many minute details which can be known only with the help of guide.

The place is very neat and maintained nice and picturistic. The building maintenance could have been better, however the are still repainting the temple. The wash rooms are very clean and the artifacts shop's are nice.

I first read about the brihadeeswara temple in a history text book, at school. Ever since , visiting the temple has been on my bucket list. I had visited here first in 2017, and had the good fortune of visiting again in Aug 2023. And what do I say. It's my favourite temple. Maybe it's the nostalgia, or maybe it's the magnificent architecture. Whatever it is, I cannot explain in words. There is one emotion which takes over all others, and that is of surrender to the almighty. Simply mesmerizing.

This is a beautiful example of architecture and loved this divine place a lot. Choose a good time in the evenings as soon as the temple opens like 4:30pm or so or go early in the morning to witness the fantastic view. After 10am the floor will get very hot depending on the day so choose a good time to visit. Temple is nothing less than extraordinary and will recommend every one to pay a visit if you are in the area or make time for it. Loved the huge gopuram and Lord Shiva’s magic divine idol.

The temple itself was impressive. It was huge and it's very famous among tourists. There were a lot of interesting things like wall paintings, Tamil inscriptions made in the wall, the architecture and everything was insane.

Awesome temple. The ambitious Brihadisvara temple by Rajaraja-I was begun in 1003 and completed in 1010 CE and was designed to represent a cosmic structure - the Mahameru. The temple is dedicated to Siva represented by a linga (3.66m high) and named Rajarajesvaramudayar after the king himself. The temple was built in a courtyard measuring 240 x 120m in the ratio of 1:2 with granite blocks being brought from a distance of approx. 50kms. The vimana soars to height of 60.96m and the stone sikhara (8 pieces) at the top weighs 81.284 tonnes. The inner sanctum is a square. The height of the temple has been achieved due to the two tiered bhumi (wall). There is a pradakshinapatha (circumambulatory passage) around the sanctum. The lower circumambulatory passageway has on its walls exquisite paintings of the Chola period while the upper one has the karana (dance poses) reliefs. The complex has the mein temple with five subshrines for Chandikesvara, Amman, Subrahmanya, Ganesa and for Karuvur Devar, the royal priest. There are two mandapas for Nataraja and Nandi. A cloister mandapa runs round the complex. Two gopuras - Rajarajan tiruvasal and Keralantaka are of the same period as the main temple and the arch is of the Maratha period. The walls and adhisthana (plinth) are covered with inscriptions of Chola, Pandya, Vijayanagara, Nayaka and Maratha rulers. From these it is known that numerous endowments were made to the temple by the royal family and the king. Large images in bronze and gold were presented to the temple. The receipt of donations and how the temple was maintained is engraved in great detail. The annual income from the land set aside for this temple is estimated to be 1, 16,000 kalams of paddy. The niches in the lower wall of the temple depict various deities like Ganesa, Vishnu with Sridevi and Bhudevi, Bhikshatana, Kalantaka, Natesa, Ardhanarisvara, Chandrasekhara to name a few. The upper wall carries the figure of Tripurantaka only.

It was just Bliss to witness this temple for its sheer brilliance of its architecture, engineering, construction, planning, design, efforts of its king and the masses...just extraordinary. Just couldn't believe that this structure was build 1000 years ago by my forefathers AMAZING....The best time to be here is at 5:30 in the morning...that is the time I went in and started to admire this "deserved to be a wonder of the world - let's say the eighth wonder, even if the world does not acknowledge it". Went into the nook and corners of this massive structure and spent around 6 hours to come out a different person altogether..blessed I am to be from this part of the world where I share the same space shared by my ancestors...

The best way to see how good your ancestors were!! What an amazing place You can park your car in designated parking area and walk through either east gate or north entrance .. very big temple and you need about 60-90 min to visit this place. Better to do enough history research before coming here .. expect rush for Darsan. We visited around 11AM and there was heavy rush as well as sun was at its peak ! Temple looks big n great. Wide open spaces, temple was maintained good. Parking available. Darshnam usually takes less than half an hour in normal days. Mobiles can be carried inside temple but photography is strictly prohibited.

First visit in 2020 and now again in 2023. This temple never ceases to amaze me with the structure and the details made for each corner of the temple. Still marvellous engineering from ancient times.

Awesome temple. We visited in evening and lighting was awesome. As you enter on the right there is place to deposit your footware and bags. Small bags are allowed inside, big bags to be deposited. Temple complex is huge. Try visiting around 5pm to see both day and night view of the temple.

You will find lot of details about temple. My suggestion is take guide with you. You should know the history of the temple that will help to know temple well. Note this is one of the live temple under UNESCO consideration. Go once at evening to experience at light. Or prefer at early morning at around 7 am. Enough parking opposite road of temple.

The temple is fabulous. The carvings and architecture will leave you spellbound. Always good to have a guide. The history too is fascinating You should go early morning or late afternoon. The grounds were burning and it was difficult to walk. I would suggest you wear thick socks to protect your feet. No youtuber has told this. It'll save your feet.

Amazing temple. Must visit in TN. Beautiful lighting in the evening... No entry fees. Enough space for footwear and bags stands. Public toilets available. Restaurants nearby are good too....

Ancient marvel! This place leaves you in awe, how could they have built it without modern equipment. The complex is huge with a massive Nandi inside in the centre of the main courtyard. The Shiv temple inside is beautiful and has positive vibrations. Dont blink and keep your eyes open for the entire duration of your visit. Every inch of this compound has intricate stone carvings with utmost precision. They got every stone aligned with impeccable geometry hundreds of years ago. It is well maintained inside and clean, the warm lighting in the evenings make it look magnificent. The only downside is the unkept parking lot and the shoe stand which is flocked by unwanted hawkers and litter all over. This is the cultural history of India which nobody should miss out on.

What a fantastic place to visit! Very good maintenance inside the temple. Have separate place to keep our bags and belonging for a reasonable price. Good that they are allowing to keep mobile to capture the stunning gopuram and idols.

Temple is in the middle of the city, there is an ample space of car parking in front of this temple, car parking fees is ₹50. Excellent architecture. There is a clock room for Chapel stand for this. They will charge three rupees per pair. It is a spectacular architecture, must visit place

Delighted and very proud of our heritage and the magnificent work done by Cholas and other rulers of India . Their contribution to the culture and art can’t be explained in words. This temple is a classic example of the architecture marvel . Need min 3-4 hrs to enjoy this temple beauty. Each puller and each carvings tell you a story . Couldn’t believe that in stone you can go to this much deep and exhibit nature . A must visit for tourist visiting south .

Wonderful temple with great carvings. There are numerous miniature carvings as well. Ms. Abhirami, the guide had explained everything very well. Couldn’t thank her enough. Definitely recommend to hire a guide and spend some time.

We had traveled to Tanjavur, and a guide there recommended that we visit this temple. It's a bit off route but the drive from our hotel was very relaxing due to the greenery next to the roads. The temple is a beautiful example of medieval architecture, and a delight for shutterbugs. The engravings on the stones are intricate and well preserved. There are several deities in the complex and prayers are offered daily. The garden outside the temple walls is also beautiful with many large trees offering ample shade. Overall, a must visit place if you are visiting Tanjavur or nearby areas.

Awesome Place. When I visited last time which is before 6 years. I saw lots of old Tamil writings on the walls around the temple but it's not there completely now. I don't know why.

A wonderful temple to visit. This is one of the few temples that is best visited during the afternoons. There will be very little crowd and unlike other temples, even if it's too hot, you won't have to worry. The temple is well shaded and you can always repose to a place where cool air is passing. It is not as famous as other temples of Tamil Nadu but has its own charm.

Step into history and admire the vision of the craftsmen of the chola era. Built with interlocking stones, the temple is a revelation of sculptures and miniatures. It is advisable to hire a guide if u are keen to know/see the place in detail. Our guide ms. Abhirami was so well spoken, had patience to click our pics and even suggested great place to eat. You will find her delightful and pleasing. Have posted a photo featuring her so that u can recognise her easily. Her charges are affordable.. and if you like, u can pay more like we did :) The Shiva lingam invokes peace within you. Visit this in morning, so that you don't jump like popcorn on the hot stones! :) The parking has good washroom and immense green lawns and trees for a stopover/picnic. I truly loved my visit. 💞💞

It is an art gallery of ancient Tamil people. One of the greatest temples in tamilnadu. Very fine art in that temple. One is not enough to see the wonder of this temple. Very interesting art works with wonder for 1000 years back. One of the most memorable moments in my life.

A must see temple. A UNESCO world heritage site. Old, built in the 12 century and still functioning as a Shiva temple. The sculptures and carvings are magnificent. Please take a guide. It is difficult to notice and appreciate the carvings otherwise. Our guide Mr Ram Kumar was excellent. It will take you 2-3 hours to see properly.

Such a wonderful temple. We visited in the evening time when it was raining, there was no electricity, our only source of light is the lightning and our mobile torch. We had spent an hour there and It was such a unique experience seeing the temple via lightning, one, which I cannot describe through words. We visited the temple again next day to see it properly and take pics but that previous day's experience was something else

Beautiful temple. But many structures have started to disintegrate. No proper maintenence. No signage or information about history of the temple. Local people are using it like park going for waking. Around the temple, it's very dirty on the lawn. Large parking space for car is available inside.

One of the most beautiful and outstanding temple in the whole world. This is a masterpiece from Cholas in terms architecture, unique sculptures, micro carvings and many more. Interesting part of the temple is the Raja gambhira mandapam built like a charioy form. This mandapam has panels depicting the stories of all 63 Nayanmars, Many thiruvilayadal stories of Lord Shiva, Even from Ramayanam and many more. On the pillars inside the mandapam, many micro carvings, forms of Shiva, Scenes from Kandha puranam and many more. Plan to spend atleast couple of hours to explore the sculptures in detail.

Nice place to show kids about the workmanship of our ansisters. Can take group photo or selfie with the sculpture. A very nice garden is located outside the temple . Well maintained restrooms and parking.

Amazingly preserved UNESCO world heritage site in kumbakonam. Intricate carvings. Monumental architecture. Many ancient inscriptions from the Chola period. Only critique is that it’s not clearly marked where the no shoes area is vs where shoes are allowed. Beggars outside the temple but not any inside! One of my favorite temples to visit and admire the architecture. A must see in Kumbakonam! Has not been ruined by “renovation” or money grab “temple tourism” like many of the other local temples. Best to visit on a weekday to avoid religious crowds.

One of the worst maintained place I ever visited in my life. How could they do like that. If it is maintained properly it will attract many tourists. I felt so bad seeing the condition of the palace.if you want to explore a new place you can visit the palace. And if you expect more there is nothing. You need to take tickets to enter each section. This palace authorities must visit mysore palace at least once and need to learn from them how to protect these monuments. The surroundings are not clean. So i will not recommend this place to anyone.

Thanajvur Martha Hall shows the Marathas architecture. The building is cool and calm . The paintings are awesome for historical lovers they can find many things over here. They have kept the canon and the canon ball which is very heavy where you can lift it . There is an mile stone showing how many kilo meters for thanjavur it takes to you the ancient time itself.

They are collecting entry fees and not at all maintained the place. There was full of waste products lying over there and we can see in many places of wall people have written their names and spoiled. Should have maintained properly.

Place is in shambles. There is no maintenance by authorities, though some money is charged for entry and parking. Monument itself can be a good tourist spot if developed well. The main palace is closed, and only a part of it is visible from distance. The temple/Darbar is open to visit, but again in very bad state.

In general it is a great place to visit with a lot to see. Its really amazing. The only negative point is that currently there seems to be some constructions and tools were kept on statues and it was kept untidy. There is so much great artwork, it should be cherished more. Also it would be great to have more opportunities for elderly people to sit.

The art works in the palace is good and has a great history behind. However, the place is poorly maintained, even with a entry fee of ₹50. There is a library, art gallery and the main palace. But i was totally disappointed in seeing the main palace. The wall artworks are washed off, the floors is dusty, the pillars and walls are damaged by people visiting it. It might take around 2-3 hours to cover the entire place, which is totally not worth the time. Better spend time at some other place like the big temple instead.

The Martha King and his family lived in the royal Tanjore palace. Fortunate to witness this majestic palace, this entire palace is a gold for history lovers.

They hold many legacy statues of Chola Kingdom. They have huge collection of rare statues from 16th centuries. Maintaining a whale bone for a long time which is really massive. People should coordinate to maintain the vibe of the place but they dosnt have any decorandom. Youth people are scrapping the Paints writing their names. Authorities should take strict disciplinary actions on them to avoid such issues. Also people are sitting were God statue been placed to take rest. Not sure how their mind getting changes when they see God in temple and in museums. A lot of changes need to be done within ourselves. It's our responsibility to preserve our legacy and culture.

Entry fees . You can get the ticket at the counter in the entrance and check the timings to avoid going by the lunch time as the counter will be closed for a short period . Cars are allowed inside and parking available In one area you can cover 3- 4 places . you can visit darbar, Saraswati mahal library - photo not allowed . Maratha palace - Photo allowed and must visit for the art and architecture. Bell tower - please avoid going there . Not allowed and it is not maintained. Built in 14th century, the palace is in ruins and apparently it’s in a neglected state. It’s the same case about the Saraswathi mahal library and Durbar hall inside the palace ground. One part of it is a govt girl’s school and other side is govt fire and safety department. There’s a museum inside the palace building featuring some artefacts. It’s high time that the authorities should be vigilant about protecting historical and cultural heritage sites the it should be protected. Visitors are scribbling on the walls and the palace is unattended. As a keralite who has visited several well known palaces in kerala, this is so unacceptable. The sheer negligence is showing everywhere.

Nice historical palace in the middle of the city. Unfortunately it is not well kept though there is a high entrance fee (Adults 50, Kids 20) apart from 2 seperate entrance fees you need to pay inside. There is lot of dust everywhere and some construction going on at places. Parking can be a challenge though it has some limited paid parking inside. The lady issuing parking ticket is also very rude. The store inside the palace is very nice and prices very reasonable (just watch out for additional GST apart from the price mentioned on the objects).

The Great Thanjavur Palace, known locally as Aranmanai. Nowadays, it is the official residence of the Bhonsle family who ruled Thanjavur (Tanjore) from 1674 to 1855AD. It's worth to visit as a magnificent ancient architecture at Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. Have a nominal entrance fee of ₹50 only. One can take cameras at a fee of ₹30 only. It is open for the visitors from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. IST, and remains closed during lunch hours. The Royal Palace stays open every day.

Must watch Palace in Thanjavur. There are around 4 things to watch inside and separate tickets for each. We’re able to see 3 items: Durbar hall (must watch), Outside of a library and a video show related to it, where highlights and history of Thanjavur is show (must watch), Bell palace (was closed). There is a queue to get tickets and a delay is there.

This Thanjavur Maratha palace is nice one with good museum and library. Very good and nicely sculptured Nataraja and Parvati idols from 10-13 th centuries could be seen. In main hall, beautiful ancient painting work attracts and catchy. Very nicely preserved palace properties could be seen here. How man's face evolved from different animal faces painting work is so splendid.

A must visit place if you had a chance to travel tanjore.It has a museum ,durbar hall,Bell tower. Except bell tower ,remaining places are not properly maintained .Bell tower has very nice architecture and are not allowed to enter the top.

The palace definitely needs a refurbishment, especially the Durbar hall which has the potential to become a great attraction, sadly it lies in its ruins. On a whole this piece of history definitely needs some attention and hope some part of the 50rs per head paid to enter goes to it's restoration

One of the famous palace in Tamilnadu. Located at very near Thanjavur Old bus stand (Walkable distance only). Best place to bring the children. Because they can know about history. Here, you can see the ancient sculptures, Paintings, Ancient Weapons etc. Frequent Town buses available to reach old bus stand from New Bus Stand and Railway Station.

The palace complex consists of the Sadar Mahal Palace, the queen's courtyard and the Durbar Hall. The Royal Palace Museum contains a splendid collection of Chola bronzes. The Raja Serfoji Memorial Hall and the Royal Palace Museum are situated in the Sadar Mahal Palace. There is also a small bell tower. The Saraswathi Mahal Library is situated with the Thanjavur palace complex.

The palace is very historic and I believe would be very beautiful, if it was maintained at all! The durbar hall was in such a sorry state, with cobwebs, dust and faded paintings everywhere. Even the exteriors of the buildings, with the exception of the bell tower, were not painted. The premises was littered with waste and water was seeping through a lot of walls. It is a very historic place so the archaeology department of TN must really do a better job with this place.

Arulmigu Sri Oppiliappan divyadesam mandir. Here, prasad is served without salt in it. The prasad, even without salt is very tasty. Loved the prasad. There is sn Elephant in the temple. The Elephant 🐘 will give blessings to everyone with its trunk if we give some 10 rupees or more to it. Coming close to an Elephant was terrifying. The Elephant 🐘 won’t harm anyone.

Oppiliappan Temple, also known as Thiruvinnagar of Venkatachalapathy Temple is a temple dedicated to Hindu god Vishnu, located near Thirunageswaram (walkable distance for Arulmigu Naganathar Temple). Considered 60th among the 108 Divya Desams, Lord Vishnu is worshipped as Arulmigu Oppiliappan along with Lakshmi as Bhoomi Devi. Lord Vishnu appears as an old man and seeks daughter of Markandeya (daughter being Lakshmi) upon which Markandeya refuses saying he is too old for his daugther who is too small (too young that she doesn't even know how much salt is to be added in her cooking). Upon which the old man says that even if it is cooked without salt, whatever your daughter prepares will be consumed as the tastiest meal ever but I will not leave it without marrying her. Markandeya in dilemma seeks Lord Vishnu's counsel and realises it was him all along. Thus anything given in the temple as Naivedya or as Prasada is without Salt. One of the attractions is highly energetic Temple Elephant Bhooma who simply doesn't stand still, swaying right and left all the time

Really it's a blessing to visit oppiliappan temple , absolute happiness peace. Where you can get good darshan . When I visited it was tym near kumbabishekam so temple being painted and cleaned well. So happy to see Boomadevi 🐘 and theppakulam with colour fishes 🐠

The presiding deity is the brother of Sri Tirupati Balaji. The temple is simply stunning and one can get an up close darshan of Sri Oppiliappan. One can also take darshan of different deities here. Definitely a must visit here.

Divine is one word to describe. One of unique Perumal temple I have visited. 1) Garudar Pooja is being performed 2) Can have darshan of moolavar at the closest proximity. 3) Perumal and thayar in same sanidhi. No photography allowed inside.

This is a very important temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, situated at Thirunageswaram (old name was Thiruvinnagaram) near Kumbhakonam, Tanjhabhur district of Tamil Nadu. This is one of the 108 Divyadesham of Lord Vishnu. The temple was constructed in the 8th Century CE by the Chola Kings. There is a peculiar custom followed in this temple. Salt (Sodium Chloride) is not allowed here. The temple is constructed in the typical Dravidian style with a tall Gopuram, a big Mandapa and a sanctum with a tall tower or Vimana (called Suddhananand Vimana). The Mandapa has beautifully decorated big pillars. There are two metallic statues of Lord Vishnu on either side of the door connecting the outer and inner Mandapas, and two other statues of the Lord (made of stone) on either side of the door connecting the inner Mandapa with the sanctum. The sanctum houses the standing Murti of Lord Vishnu made of black stone. Sitting on the floor with folded hands on His right side is the Murti of Bhumi Devi, and on the left is the Murti of the sage Markendya. The temple tank is known as "Ahoratra Pushkarani" where salvation is granted if anyone takes bath during the day as well as at nights. This is a unique thing about this tank. Usually it is believed that salvation is granted if someone takes bath in the sacred tanks only during the day time. The temple has a big & beautiful Temple Elephant who is trained to collect money offered to it and to bless the donor by touching his/her head with its trunk. P.S. My grandmother took me here when I was small, so often. My Village, Sarukkai was some 15 miles away from Kumbakonam, en route to Thiruvayaru! Opili Appan looks gigantic with his Concert Bhoomadevi thayar seated on one side and his father in law, Markandeya Maharshi, on the other! You can read on his abhaya hastham, Mam Ekam Saranam Vraja! It means simply put, ' take refuge unto only me'! I will protect you, is implied there! A great temple to see on anyone's Kumbakonam trip. It is endowed with a lovely elephant, all the time. It has a very deep Temple tank and a Neerazhi Mandap. One must be greatly careful while taking a bath here, shoud one really do! An able Swimmer- escort is a must! Last but not the least, is it's unparalleled Sakkarai Pongal Prasadam! Dollops of Sakkarai pongal tastes eminently divine, I swear! Believe me!

Oppliappan Kovil one of dhivyathesam among 108. Beautiful temple with pond full of fishes you can feed foods to fish. But unfortunately now temple renovation work going so only we can visit outside of temple and moolavar dharshan also cancelled only able to visit uthachavar untill June 28th 2023.

A big temple painted with colours on the walls. Very beautiful and colourful to see from outside. Lots of space for rest and prayers. Neat and clean.

Beautiful and famous temple and one of the 108 Vishnu temples in India. We had a very good darshan and took Olliappan's blessings. Had good prasadam and returned with very happy state. If there is a special darshan for senior citizens, it's better.

Great experience. But we mustn't bring Common Salt or salt-based products to this temple.

On Saturdays the temple is a little crowded. There's a beautiful temple pond and goraksha mandap. A lot of tourists visit this place. During the long weekend and public holidays you have to plan in advance because getting rooms would be hectic. This place is next to the famous Thirunageshwaram temple(Raghu sthalam) and nearby you have many other Navagraha temples. Suryanar temple, ayyawadi, aalangudi, and many other temples in and around Kumbakonam surroundings. Overall this temple and the perumal is serene and historic.

Temple dedicated to Vishnu. Located very near ( 1 km) to Thirunageswaram Shiva Temple, which is also known as Ragu Bhagvan Sthalam. Temple premises including the Tank is maintained very neatly. Rooms for Cloth Changing for Women Devotees are provided. Here, we can go very near to the Main Deity and pray peacefully.

Mangalambigai udanurai Kumbeswarar temple located in the centre of Kumbakonam is a must visit. It was so divine when we went there for 6pm pooja. Lots of people attend this pooja and the priests perform harathi with atmost sincerity. The complex is very big with two entrances one with Big temple tower and another without a tower. There is an elephant too inside the temple near to Mottai gopuram(entrance without Gopuram). You can buy bananas and get blessed . Parking is quite a difficult one. If you’re early , you can easily find a spot near Mottai gopuram. If not you have leave it somewhere near to the temple

Temple has such a nice history to it but the temple priests are too adamant. The reason for 5 stars is I have complained to the temple office and after 2 months I got a call from them taking action on the priest. That was something I didn't expect.

Today we worshipped Lord Kumbeshwarar and Mangalambika. Vibrations were very strong inside the sanctum. One devotee from Karnataka sang a Tamil song Karpagavallinin in front of Amma Mangalambika. It was mesmerising

The tallest is the eastern tower, with 11 stories and a height of 128 feet (39 m) The temple has numerous shrines, with those of Kumbeswarar and Mangalambigai Amman being the most prominent. The temple complex houses many halls; the most notable is the sixteen-pillared hall built during the Vijayanagar period that has all the 27 stars and 12 zodiacs sculpted in a single stone. The temple has six daily rituals at various times from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., and twelve yearly festivals on its calendar, with the Masi Magam festival celebrated during the Tamil month of Maasi (February - March) being the most prominent. The present masonry structure was built during the Chola dynasty in the 9th century, while later expansions are attributed to Vijayanagar rulers of the Thanjavur Nayaks of the 16th century. The temple is maintained and administered by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

No gopuram on the southern and northern entrance. Temple office is situated at this entrance side. One can view the elephant blessing the devotees from this entrance.

We met Gopura the elephant. Nice elephant. The temple is smaller but has more devotee coming here. It’s clean. Kumbakonam temples are really clean. It nice to walk bare foot I. The huge temple.

This mandir is just in peace & dwelling with positive vibes. As old as time, this mandir offers sacred divine grace of Mahadev. The architecture is so juggling, yet very Dravidian. Today morning visited this temple. A very good temple dedicated to lord Shiva situated in the busy street of Kumbakonam. In the entrance one can see an Elephant with dancing moment because of bell mounted on the elephant neck. Inside the temple can see a lingam of cone type. Once you take a darshan can see Ambal with a pleasant look🙏🏻. Must visit temple. It's a Motta kopuram meaning that the entrance don't have proper construction and no kalasam.

At the entrance you may find elephant as it is welcome you from there lots of pillars in similar manner on either side of big passage hall and garbha gudi.

It was a Devine feeling after having the Darshanam of Lord Shiva worshipped as Adi Kumbeswar, This 7th century temple has great huge stone pillared Mandapams, Garbha griha and a magnificent main tower. The main tower can’t be seen closely from near due to occupation on both sides by lengthy corridors. Great feel after having the darshan. Must visit place for Hindus.

This temple is in Kumbakonam. An ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The architecture is outstanding. It's quite a big temple. You have space for car parking. There is a big elephant inside the temple. Mostly, the elephant is available during the morning hours. Lord Shiva is "Adi Kumbeshwarar" and Parvati/ Ambal is "Mangalambikai".
