Tranquil lakes surrounded by green mountain tops! Sense of peace and quiet can be felt in the fresh air. Worth the trip. There is a limit on the number of vehicles that can be parked at the parking, which also imposes limitation on the number of people. So one needs to be prepared to just drive back if no space for parking is available. We went there during the weekday and there were barely any people. I can imagine this place being full during the high summer season.

Impressive beautiful area with two lakes. We took the Alsa bus up to the lakes it was all very easy and took about 45 minutes from the barriers to the drop-off area at the top of the mountain. There, you are greeted by a tourist guide who advises about the path and what to expect. There is a museum above the parking lot, which is well worth seeing. At the museum, it explains the flora and fauna of the area. Besides the smaller lake, there is a cafetiere, and if you just feel peckish, ask for the cheese platter it's lovely and not expensive at €10.00. The lakes are beautiful, but the scenery is stark and dramatic as it's a very harsh climate and not much grows there. If nothing else, it's a lovely hike, although I would not relish doing it in pelting rain or wind.

Beautiful lakes up in the mountains. The backdrop is spectacular. There is parking up above, but make sure you go early so it doesn’t get too busy.

One of the most beautiful places we've been to in Spain. Breathtaking view and the walk was not too difficult. Definitely worth it.

The lakes and walks are quite good, nice views of the mountains and glacier lakes. Better signage of the tracks would make the experience better. What lowered the stars was the transport. Starting in Cangas de Onis the booking at the office was easy and friendly, we caught the 0800 bus which was busy as expected for Easter Weekend, but the return was a nightmare. We were booked on the 1250, as they are using the public car park you think signs would be out showing where each bus picks up passengers and what time. But ‘no’ people were rushing across the car park, then when buses turned up people started pushing to get there bus number, some even tried getting on that had later times which added to the issue. We have travelled on public transport all over the world from Thailand, Germany to Japan and this was the worst organised we have ever experienced. There were some very annoyed people, and appears quite a few had 1250pm tickets but our bus had no seats left.

Very nice. All the restaurents were closed in the morning. If you go after 12 be prepared to wait in line.

It is truly an amazing place worth visiting! I went with a friend and we bought the bus ticket online as during summer the entrance is prohibited feom the morning until night to normal vehicles and thank God because the road is very very narrow with moments of no visibility due to the fog, so bare in mind that if you are planning to visit. The hike is an easy one and you can find a small restaurant with snacks and sandwiches at one of the lakes and they accept card/money. The day we went we couldn’t see one of the lakes because it was really foggy and as anything in nature, you just need to be lucky.

It was truly beautiful and easily walkable (a 3km loop) Very very touristy even on a day with bad weather. Bus ride up was a little scary in the fog and wet but the bus drivers were very skilled

When you go to Lagos de Covadonga, you have to take the Alsa bus, you cannot drive there in your own car. The best choice is to park you car at P3 or P4, and take the bus from one of them to save some time. You can visit the Basílica de Santa María la Real de Covadonga separately with your own car.

Private car cannot reach the lake directly. There are 4 parking plots, we parked the 3rd plot, then took the shuttle bus to the lake. The return ticket for adults is 9€, and for kids under 12 years old is 3.5€. The bus comes every 15 mins, and from Parking#3 to the terminal station of lake is around 30 minutes. We spent 1.5 hours walking along the two lakes. I think normally 1.5 hours to 2.5 hours is enough, depends on how you want to hike around. We were so rush because we booked the cable car tickets to the top at 4pm. We really enjoyed the half day here today. 🥰🥰🥰

This place is espectacular! Unbeatable views, pure air, good food and modest prices in cangas de onis restaurant which opens from Easter. Just be careful going up as road is narrow.

It was a very nice experience but sometimes you might find the police blocking the road for many hours because of the crouds.

A beautiful, peaceful site to visit in the Astoria region of Spain. Mountainous, so expect some steep up and down walking. No cost to visit. Breathtaking walks and views while here. A lovely café on site for snacks, pastries, and drinks.

Fabulous and unique spot. Church built into the side of a mountain. Well worth a visit for the breath taking views. Parking tricky (putting it mildly), so something to be aware of if you are not able to walk far/up steep hills.

Lovely views from the sanctuary and Basilica. The sanctuary was crowded with a queue to access it but interesting to see. Not exactly a peaceful experience and must be much worse in the summer season. Lots of toilets around and the hotel on site has a cafeteria and a lovely restaurant. You can park on the way out of season if you are lucky with spaces or stop on the way and take a bus up which would be very necessary in high season.

Very beautiful place in the full peaks of Europe (so called because they were the first mountains that sailors saw when they returned from America in the past). Place of pilgrimage where according to popular tradition the Santina appeared, highly venerated in Asturias. Tomb of Don Pelayo, the first Hispanic monarch to begin the union of the kingdom. There is a hotel, parking and small shops. There is a beautiful walking route from Cangas de Onis.

Beautiful spot with the site carved into the mountain. There is also a beautiful cathedral here. Worth a one hour or so stop.

Free visit to this beautiful catholic shrine in the highlands of Asturias. Gothic cathedral from the 800 hundreds and tons of hiking trails.

Beautiful church. They had mass at the little chapel carved on the rock side. Pretty unique atmosphere. Very touristy but worth a visit if you’re in the area. You can walk from the parking lots in the valley below in Covadonga, however there is no pavement for pedestrians. There is a hiking path but it goes in and out of the main road. The other option is to take the bus. €9 round trip from the parking areas 1-2-3-4.

Visually stunning however very very busy with coaches and tourists. There is a que and one way system to see the sanctuary. We visited midweek in September and we could just about park at behind the museum down a very steep slope. Parking here seems to all be free.

A beautiful place where you can spend half a day and learn something of history, real or not.

The drive there is horrific if you have motion sickness. Parking is a nightmare. It feels like a place to visit for ten minutes to check off a list of been there and done that than some place special. Amazing views though and stroller accessible with well signed public Toilets.

Beautiful place to visit. There is the sanctuary located in a cave and a Basilica in the area. Both are walking distance of each other. Entry is free and car parking spaces are available. You can also catch the ALSA bus to the lakes from nearby if you are visiting in the summer.

Truly unique and beautiful. My issue is that the site is not managed very well. The experience could be greatly improved by having 2 employees (one at each site) and a pamphlet you can read about the structure. It would avoid forcing visitors who have already arrived to wait over an hour for the next unpublished guided tour time. For a UNESCO site the lack of access is disheartening

It's a hike up of the guts on an hour to see this exquisitely situated pre romanic church, but on a beautiful day it's well worth the effort. I didn't get to see inside, as you have to be there in the morning, but a did get to see it, in all its glory basking in the afternoon sun.

Beautiful and very small pre-Romanesque style church. Really worth a stop to get her with the very nearby San Miguel de Lillo church. Please park on the parking below and have a 500 meter walk up to the churches

Very well preserved pre-Romanic church. A specialist-guided tour is available in Spanish every half an hour or so, for €4/ adult and £3/ child. The guide will walk you through architectural, historical nuances in detail. Very interesting

for the history geeks: nobody really knows the true reason and purpose of this pre-roman built architecture. architectural details reveals byzantine influences and figurative, animal, mythological and floral motifs. while the structure hD been modified and used as a church at a time, there's also an original bath like structure hidden on one side while the main core of the building is bare and spacious. along time and its story, this building was likely used as a church to bless soldiers before they head off to war and fend off the muslims from the south, further back to its original intent, who knows, it could be a royal bath house or retreat to the ancient goddesses in byzantine/greek/roman tales.

There is no school history book that does not have this cover. We have all studied his art or heard about it. A clear example of a civil building (palace) accommodated as a 9th century church. Essential visit for lovers of art and history in Oviedo. Nearby public parking and if you are an early riser almost at the door. Joint entry with Lillo.

When you visit take the guided tour to both churches. This is the only way to see the interior. Especially that of the Iglesia de San Miguel de Lillo is remarkable. The tour is only in Spanish, but we managed to understand. The visitor centre told us that when the door at the Iglesia Santa María del Naranco was closed a guided tour was going on. So visit the centre to be sure there is a tour guide around.

Pre-romanic structure later converted into a church. A UNESCO heritage site. Tours are available but mostly in Spanish. There is a reception center with plenty of historical information close to it. You have to look for it and it is worth visiting for the introductory movie and descriptions in English and French besides Spanish. The smallish gift shop has some quality items besides the usual stuff. And there are also bathrooms.

Looks like a great beach. The weather wasn't great on my visit so I can't comment on the sea temperature and the swimming capabilities but it was clean and tidy.

Beautiful beach! It isn't too overrun. The water was 20 degrees in June. So the swim was nice. A lot of people surf here as there is always wind. There aren't a lot of facilities around for toilets or changing, maybe one. I love this beach. 😀 it's nice and natural, no commercial shops on the beach trying to sell you things. It's just simple, and that's what makes it beautiful 😍

Nice large beach close to pretty much everything. Sand is clean and great for kids to play in.

The beach is a five star. Clean, nice and shallow. Great for playing and swimming. Great sand. Great beach walk. Few good coffee places and even worse parking facilities and the ones that exists are really small and not up to date. Also no dogs allowed regardless the hours. Would be fair to allow dogs early in the mornings, say until 9:00. There are no one there that early anyways. Dogs allowed between October and April.

I heard that St. Lorenzo Beach in Gijon is the busiest beach in Asturias and I am guessing is on summer time. The beach is really long and beautiful with golden sand and high waves. You can see many people playing sand sports, specially surfing since early morning every day from all the surf schools along the boulevard. It is amazing and very relaxing!!

Hardish packed, extremely wide and good length, when tide out, great wildlife and good for jogging! Better than most tropical beaches I've seen and together with Cadiz beaches , the best beach in Spain . Very central. In winter , hundreds of dogs play with owners in afternoon 😍

An iconic place of Gijon. A gorgeous large beach with lovely sand. Plenty of restaurants and shops near by. In summer gets crowded. It's 1.5 km long.

Great little museum with special attention for kids, with games/booklet (also in English!), a lot of stuff to do, fascinating info, nice staff, all kinds of special mills and a lot of water. We had a great time.

Possibly the best outside museum we have ever been to. We spent about 40 minutes in the first room making flour. The kids loved the quiz. The layout is very good and never seems crowded. Very good value and well recommended.

So much fun! Wish more of the museum was in English, but the English brochure and English subtitles in the intro video were good enough. The multiple types of mill were amazing fun to dissect and play with. The only part I really felt like I would have enjoyed with better translations was the deconstructed mill portion near the end.

It's very curious and interesting as they show the history of the mills during the centuries and how they evolved. In an absolutely amazing and natural environment surrounded by mountains!

Museum is entertaining, with quizzes for kids, and many things you can touch and fiddle with. Nice countryside spot, tiny village next to it.
