It is historical island in Palembang city. Lots of people coming here during cap go meh. They provide a walkable boat from Pusri for free once a year for a week. Or you can also go there by boat (also free during cap go meh)

I chartered a small boat manned by a father and son team to Pulau Kemaro. We alighted to the boat from the jetty not far from the majestic Ampera Bridge. It was a wonderful experience of a lifetime sitting in a small boat where you can touch the river water while the boat moves lazily along the river and sometime getting splashed by the water waves when a high speed boat passed by. Getting bumped by the waves paused your heart beat momentarily. But operated by a skillful navigator your worries will soon receded. There are many houses built along the river banks. The river that provides livelihood to some of the communities that has lived there for generations. As the boat moves along, I can see few big ships berthing in the deep water ways taking turns to load and unload their cargoes at Palembang Port which was situated alongside with one of the biggest fertilizer factory in Palembang known as P.T. Pusri. As the boat is nearing the Kemaro Island, I could see an Indonesian Army Navy Boat berthing beside the jetty. Once the boat has been securely anchored to the riverside, we hopped out onto the concrete jetty to explore this historical island. I don't want to miss a chance to snap a picture at the main entrance gate constructed with a Chinese architectures. The place was quite deserted as it was a normal working day when I came here. There are few people around, probably the person who took care of the area. Some are sweeping the fallen dried leaves. There are few Chinese architecture temples, Pagodas and dieties. The surrounding area are poorly maintained with debris and rubbish probably leftovers from past religious Chinese ceremonies being left uncollected and disposed off. I spent about an hour at this vicinity as the environment looks so bored and dull. Managed to snap few pictures. We returned back to the waiting boat and set off back to the jetty where we came earlier. My only expectation is that the local authority should make an effort to make this place more pleasing and attractive to the tourist. If the tourists are happy and satisfied, the locals who earned a living taking tourist to this island could earn an extra money to support their family. Hoping that my comments are taken into consideration.

The one of tourism places in Palembang. Kemaro island is a historical island you see here. There's a big pagoda and it's so beautiful, the statue of pandas. And you can see the story of kamaro island itself. Don't worry if you feel hungry here, you can find food easily and coconut too, it's favourite. To see the view and drinking coconut, it's the best. You never been in palembang if you never come to kemaro island. So choose your boat and see this beautiful island.

always love to explore historical value of one places to another. to get here we need to get on a 30mins boat ride. We can see a huge temple, pagoda, and statues. but as of pandemic i think this place went abit downgraded and under maintenace so its a bit dirty.

This is a small island in Musi river, reachable by 5-10 minutes boat ride from the port near Ampera bridge. The highlight of the place is one quite well-maintained Buddhist temple. People still come here to pray, you could find burnt incense at some spots around the temple. This island also has a pagoda not far from the temple, you could take pretty pictures of you with it on the background. Aside from the temple and the pagoda, really there is not much you could do in the island. But it was quite refreshing, worth to try while you’re in Palembang!

The unique island in Musi river called Pulau Kemaro. You can charter a small boat or a speed boat to this island from Kuto Besak. I love this island.. so beautiful

It will be a great place on the edge of Musi River with Ampera Bridge view if it were well managed by the city government.

Nothing much to do, a military institution is now occupy the fortress so im not sure if anyone can explore inside the fortress. Outside the fortress there is a small square which is serene enough to walk around, not enough light tho, its kinda dark. But walk further to the promenade in front of the fortress is a night market where bunch of locals hang around at night. Attraction and games for kids are everywhere, making this place full with families. Food vendors are here and there mostly selling same type of food, nasi goreng, mie goreng etc. Walk further you can see an area of the market specialized in tshirt souvenirs. On the promenade there is also several boats that serve as restaurants and another few smaller boats that offer you a ride along the river, they are also able to be rented to sail east to Kemaro Island but i dont know how much it will cost. When you are on the promenade make sure to enjoy the view of the great red Ampera Bridge..

Fort Kuto Besak was a great fort in side of Musi River at Palembang. At this place has a great view of Ampera Bridge, Musi River, and also lot of restaurants and cafe. There is also wide field for any activities such as ceremony, party, concert, and any public activities. The best time to come in at morning and afternoon to night to see beautiful lights and views around the river. Your visiting to Palembang was not complete if you're not coming to Auto Besak Fort and Ampera Bridge.

This landmark is located near the Ampera Bridge, but I didn't get in as this fortress is now operated as main base of Indonesian's Army in Palembang. So I just took some shots from the outside. In walking distance you can get to the square where you can enjoy the view of Musi River, and of course, the wellknown Ampera Bridge.

Beautiful view of ampera bridge. Badly my pasport was stolen from my bag while i was eating pempek (fish cakes) along the fort (benteng) roadside area😔. Please be aware and make sure you take good care of your belongings. Fort area is not far from Ampera Bridge and right on the edge of the Musi River. Sultan Mahmud Badarudin Mosque is around 100/200 meters from the fort. There are also historical monuments and museums that you can visit.

beware of scam people might offer you to hop on a boat trying to get to kamaro island. better to park inside the fortress with an evident parking ticket and do some bargain with the fisherman instead. At night the place is crowded full of street food

Beautiful historical Masjid in Palembang, I've visited it many times for over a decade it's well managed and kept clean. The architecture is beautiful and mixed with traditional Indonesian and Chinese architecture high lighting the long history of Indo-Chinese culture in Palembang

This mosque is so hostorical. The main hall (prayer place for men) is still authentic, full with Palembang's ornaments. Very very beautiful mosque. This mosque is not a museum. It is a mosque where the moslem do they prayer. So you need to dress properly.

Visited Masjid Agung Palembang (the Great Mosque of Palembang) on 16/Mar/2020, when I could not read/speak Indonesian at all.😅 The mosque is the largest mosque in Palembang, with area 15,400 square meter. Before Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin I Jayo Wikramo rebuilt this mosque in the 18th century, it was founded by Sultan Ki Gede Ing Suro in the 17th century. It is said that the mosque forms the original Malay and Arab villages for a long time in Palembang. I visited the mosque in early morning, the scene of the mosque at dawn was too impressive to be real. I didn’t enter the mosque because I was not sure whether I would be allowed or not, if there’s any opportunity to revisit Palembang, I will go inside to explore more.

If you are muslim, try to visit this mosque! It is located in downtown where you can hang around after praying here. The mosque facilities are not maintained well. It is quite difficult to find direction or information board. You need to put your slipper or flip-flop in front of the mosque and pay the locket short after your leaving. Quite clean, but still under renovation.

Relaxing place for local people. Nice place to hang out and go round with family and friends. It's good place to excercise, jogging, or just relaxing and fun.. On saturday and monday morning, this park so crowded, more people, more food stall compared to weekdays.. You can join aerobic classes on sunday in the early morning. A lot of garbages are left everywhere in the park and it makes the environment pretty bad.. I wish more people aware of the situation and lets keep the park clean..

It's not bad for a public park.. with an ordinary fish pond.. It's a place where you can gather with families or friends on weekends.. especially on Sunday mornings.. Doing exercise is absolutely usual you can do; such as jogging, dancing, walking.. etc. We can buy affordable things there.. like foods, beverages, clothes, and even accessories.. We can also meet certain animal lover communities.. 😊💓💗

Public park with no entrance fee, u only need to pay IDR 5.000 for parking. Most of people visiting this place to do jogging with family or friends. The park has a lake in the middle of jogging track. The lengths of the track was 700 m, and suggested take steps counterclockwise. There are many food stall around the park, especially beside the Swarna Dwipa Hotel. U can find Starbuck as well. On Saturday and Monday morning, this park so crowded, more people, more food stall compared to weekdays.

Kambang Iwak Family Parks is The icon of Palembang City Park. This place usually host public aerobic gym every Sunday in which usually door prizes are available on coupons. There are also drinkable water tap, jogging track, foot massage track, and weight-lifting equipment (which some are unusable). Occasionally, blood pressure check is organised by local medical centres for free. There are also food and clothing street market after sport time.

Palembang Icon (PI) , middle up mall and complete. You can find branded stuff here from bag, shoes, also dress and high quality restaurant. Spacious parking lot. Place is clean. And there is a playground for children.

Used to be luxury a luxury mall, but now it is just so so. There are some high-end brands. Bad parking lot arrangement and it often smells awful around the parking area.
