Tickets could be purchased online, and one must select the entry time. The times are every 30 minutes, and if one arrives early, cannot enter. Given that the weather and drive to get there could be unpredictable, a little flexibility could improve the service. There is a parking dedicated to customers. The changing rooms are spacious and clean. For 2 euros, one can get a locker as well. Showers are available but cost 1 euro.

A lovely experience especially at night. The showers are closed at the moment but the change rooms are open. You don't really need a locker either, you can keep your things nearby.

What an awesome experience, I am so glad that we did while on our vacation!!! Price was reasonable 8 euro per adult. We were given a glow stick bracelet to show that we paid, we also rented a locker and were given a waterproof bracelet to access it. 4 pools, each a little different, some deeper than others. Place was fairly busy but I'm not sure how busy it usually gets. It was very relaxing and enjoyable. The resort is very clean and monitored by a security guard. The nights lights turned on while we were there, making it quite cozy. You can visit it for 1.5 hours and to me, that is enough time. I did not take my phone to the pools so I do not have photos of them. Thank you for a fantastic visit!!!

Slightly over rated but a nice place to relax. Finding parking is a little difficult and the streets around the little town are narrow. Water does have a sulfur smell. It can get crowded in the evening. Need to buy tickets (8 euros) for admission whether you choose to use the hot springs or not.

Parking lot is small, and there was a short wait to park as well as a line to get in. The visits are limited to 1 1/2 hours, and they give colored bracelets to help keep track of the time. This helped keep the springs from becoming over crowded. There was plenty of room for everyone. There were different springs to sit in, even one for the kids and those that don't like hot temperatures. There was a changing area, and they even offer towels. The gift shop had some nice souvenirs. Such a great experience, would definitely go again

Natural thermal spa in Furnas that you must visit if you want to relax and just enjoy for some time. They have 5 pools of different depths and sizes. All waters are about 39 degrees celsium. Tickets must be bought in advance online if you don't want to wait in line, but I recommend visiting it in the morning when there are no people there yet.

Definitely a must go in São Miguel island. I’ve been there quite a few times and it’s always nice and relaxing. On winter is even better in my opinion to enjoy the warm pools with a chilly weather. I prefer going there at night as they are open usually till 23h00. Ticket price is reasonable. Recently they implemented a new policy of 1h30 maximum stay which I hope is only temporary. Totally recommend a visit. Just try to wear dark and not very new swim clothes because as the water is rich in iron they can get stains.

We were told to check out the hot springs by a local resident. We didn’t know what to expect, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. We did go at night, so it wasn’t well lit, it added to the experience I think. They had excellent landscape lighting and the steam from the hot springs was mystical… there were 5 different pools, 4 hot and 1 cold… there were times we had a pool to ourselves and other times it was a full pool. They don’t have a kids restriction, so there were a few kids running around and screaming, splashing.. so that did take away from the experience at times, but majority of they time they weren’t there. When you enter you have 1.5 hours to relax and wonder around. Changing rooms were clean and the overall place had a very modern feel.

Unlike most other hot springs I've visited (mostly in Canada & the US), this didn't feel kitschy or over touristy for a minute. You will likely have to wait, but it's worth it because they actually properly manage the number of people in there at any one time. The landscaping is superb & the whole experience was zen. Good job.

The facility has large lockers, regularly cleaned restrooms, and well-maintained changing rooms. The pools are well-maintained, warm, and vary in depth and temperature. You can park for free, but the pool usage is limited to one and a half hours. The place was exceedingly packed when we went to visit on Saturday evening.

We paid €8 for 1.5 hours. The time flies. We tried all the pools with different temperature water and we all enjoyed this place so much.

Very clean waters that are cleaned regularly. You can rent a towel from them (€4) and a locker (€2), but you will have to provide €20 or a hotel card as a guarantee that you will return them. Other than that, it is definitely worth a visit. The water is very warm and nice. We went twice, day and night. I recommend going at night but it can get very busy.

A must do! Absolutely beautiful with lush tropical setting. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I went on a whim and there was no waiting however about an hour later it was very busy.

We visited here end of February, on a Saturday, driving from Ponta Delgada, around 4pm (drive took about 40 mins). We chose this place as it was open much later than Terra Nostra; They do have a 1.5 hrs time limit, but we found that was plenty. Tickets to get in were 8€ per person, + 2€for a locker rental. If you come in your suit, & without much, you can grab a basket to cart your towels and clothes in and wouldn’t need a locker. Be cautious of the iron between the rocks, it will get on your arms and back. Beautiful little spot with 5 different pools, 4 of them being 39 degrees Celsius, and one being 28 degrees. The baths are quite small and it is quite busy so it can feel a little tight but well worth it. All your aches and pains melt away from the water and awesome surroundings. And a dip in the cooler pool is a rush! They also have designated smoking areas and security who walks the board walk. Parking was an adventure; there’s a small (and I mean small) lot outside the gate, but most people seem to park on the road for both hot springs in the area. Making it extra busy, esp when we went. We walked for roughly 10 mins from parking to the front. The gift shop, although nice, was very over priced also.

The baths are beautiful and relaxing, the pools are wonderful and serene, but the headline price is NOT the price. €8 entry, plus another €2 for a locker, plus another €4 for a towel, plus another €4 for shampoo/shower gel, plus another €1 for a hot shower (maximum 5 minutes, with a timer) 🙄 It's not so much the money, it's the hassle of going back and forward to the shop every time you realise there is yet another thing you have to pay for. It spoils the experience – either charge €20 and be done with it, or make it clear on entry.

The thermal springs themselves are a delight with a perfect temperature of 39°C, although you might end up a tad browner due to the iron content – a minor inconvenience. They're locked with zero explanations on how to use them. It turns out they're not complimentary; you need to fork out 2 euros, head to the gift shop, and also leave a 20-euro deposit. As for showers, brace yourself for a cold welcome unless you're willing to drop a 1-euro coin for a mere 5 minutes of hot water. Don't have coins? Well, tough luck, because that's on you. And forget about drying your hair – there's not a hairdryer in sight, not even for rent, which is almost comical.Entrance fees are 8 euros, but given the lack of thought put into customer convenience, they might as well hike it up to 10 euros and include decent shower facilities and hairdryers. Overall, the place has potential but be prepared for a series of frustratingly illogical decisions.

We really enjoyed this hot springs. We went early morning on a weekday and also visited a Friday evening during November. During the morning it’s much more quiet which was great to feel like you have the pools to yourself but in the evening it had a vibrant atmosphere. It’s very clean and the water is 39 degrees and had various types of pools. You can rent lockers and towels.

Gorgeous park. Actually, the main pool is just a nice addition. The walks around the trees are far more interesting. I recommend saving a few hours for the visit as you might want to wander around all the the paths there. One downside is that I lost my beloved sunglasses there today :( If you find them, let me know! :P

What a great park. The grounds were pristine and the gardens were spectacular. Had a quick dip in the hot spring pool which was amazing. Highly recommend visiting. We were there earlier in the day on a Saturday and wasn’t busy at all. Visit was first week of April so maybe not peak tourist time.

You purchase the ticket to enter the garden and the thermal baths at the entrance. The garden is lovely to wander around, take in all the colors of green. The thermal baths are amazing on a cloudy day - warm, iron rich and relaxing. The changing rooms are very few (so look out for any big groups coming in to not stand in line for too long). The water will stain your swimwear, wear black to not care and shower afterwards. We located no lockers, so maybe take only the necessities, open to public until 4pm.

The hot spring water was why we came. The water was lovely. It looks dirty as some other reviews mentioned but that is to be expected of a natural spring and doesn't bother us. However, the changing facilities are primitive. Half a box with a shower curtain, half exposed, no lockers. A big contrast to the hot springs in Iceland...

The entry fee for people not staying in the hotel is 10 euros, and it can be bought at the entrance. There was no waiting line for getting the tickets. I didn't swim because I found it not organised with the changing rooms. There are two toilets and one small changing room area, which makes it difficult and unpleasant. The gardens are beautiful to walk and enjoy nature. I really think it would be a huge improvement if they invest in making bigger changing rooms and toilets.

Our family with young kids enjoyed it! The water was really warm in January. The park is beautiful. The staff isn’t super friends and it’s a tad expensive. I didn’t realize it’s in the network with the Lisbon science center…entrance to the park cost as much as our annual membership.

Absolutely incredible. If you're in the Azores, please make the trip, you won't regret it. Like everyone else, we came for the hot springs and these are as amazing as you wpidl expect, from the yellow main pool to the side pools they are a really unique experience. But please don't miss the rest of the park, with some stunning views and amazing scenery it's worth spending a whole afternoon here. Just make sure you don't wear swimming clothing you wouldn't want to get stained by the water! And bring your own water and snacks

First: we didn’t use the pool so it is only about the park. Prices are the same if you use the pool or not (a bit of a shame as it could be easily done as practiced elsewhere on the island). The park itself is nice but not worth 10€ fee. Other parks are quite is nice for less or no money.

Never thought bathing in hot, mud-coloured water would be fun, but I must say this was a pretty interesting experience. Especially on a cloudy day, with all four of us soaked in cool drizzle. If you know a thing or two about rare plants, you'll probably enjoy the place, too.

It's a great place to relax. Super nice atmosphere and great outdoors Spa. Important! do only wear swim wear you don't care about or NON bright swim wear. The iron in the water will permanent stain swimwear orange es the bathing shorts lining.

Gorgeous park and the hot springs are incredible. We came here during a tour and unfortunately only had an hour to spend there but even so, it was enough to see how beautiful the place is. Will have to return another day! Remember to not wear a bathing suit or towels that you like because the iron-coloured water will stain them. I would also recommend wearing your bathing suit upon entering the park so that you don't have to wait in line at the changing rooms (they are currently constructing bigger and better changing rooms so that might change once they have renovated rooms, but the temporary structures have 3 rooms and only a few bathrooms and showers). After soaking in the water for a while, I suggest taking a walk through the gardens because they were absolutely stunning, magical almost.

As part of our Viator tour, we stopped here. To enter the thermal bath, it was 10 euros each. The water colors your suit some, due to the iron. It is wonderful and makes you feel so good. I would love to stay longer but had more to see on this day.

The gardens were beautiful and the natural hot spring bath was lovely. When we visited there was ongoing construction including temporary showers/changing rooms - these were very basic and also meant there was quite a long queue to change/shower. At this price level (€10 for entry to both the bath/garden with no time limit) that’s more than fair enough and it’s still amazing value with these issues. Albeit, if the showering/changing situation was less basic/cleaner with less queues, this would improve the overall experience and we would have been more than happy to pay more. Info: there are iron deposits in the spring water which might stain your skin/swimwear/towels.

I do not recommend it at all. 10 euros thrown to the trash, the price is too high considering that the conditions for thermal bath are inhumane. There’s no adequate place to change clothes, shower or go to the bathroom. They put tiny houses with 3 showers, 2 bathrooms and maybe 3-4 changing rooms. Everything is in poor condition and very big lines. You end up seeing naked people changing in the middle of the park under the trees… Ah and showers don’t have warm water, at least the one I was in. The place left me with quite unpleasant feeling, definitely won’t recommend it

For the experience of a thermal pool it's OK but lacking a cool shower and advice when using such facilities. Personal belongings are your problem but there are points around the pool to hang bags etc especially if it rains which keep belongings from getting wet. The gardens are well worth a walk round very pleasant are a dip.

Amazing garden to walk around. Great variety of plants, flowers and trees, nicely designed. You shouldn't miss the opportunity to swim in the pool with the mineral water Temperature is around 38 to 40 degrees Celsius... very relaxing experience.

I enjoyed visiting Terra Nostra a lot. I didn't have time to follow all the trails and see everything but I did get to do a pretty good loop. The gardens are beautiful. I went in the thermal pool but not the jacuzzis. As expected, the pool was very orange. Definitely wear a dark colored or old bathing suit. One thing that caught me off guard is how deep the pool is. Since it's so opaque you are unable to see the bottom. If you're a smaller adult or have children with you you'll want to be careful upon entering.

We didnt stay at the hotel, only visited the park. It was "winter" when we went, but the park was still phenomenal to walk around. It must be breathtaking in the spring and summer when all of the flowers are in full bloom.

We visited for the baths. The bath was nice. There are no lockers and the temporary change rooms can get a little crowded. I imagine this will be better after the construction. I would also recommend visiting the park trails if you can. It's a beautiful park!

Fun visit. Nicely maintained park. Fun walk through the park with beautiful sights. However, would not recommend to take the long pathway at the rear of the park (as shown on the guided map), not much to see there. Bathing is also a must, really nice water temperature. Unfortunately the showers and 4 changing rooms are outdated, but they are clean. Overall good experience.

Beautiful botanical gardens! It is absolutely worth it to spend a few hours walking around. I didn't try the hot springs as the set up is very basic, but they were in the middle of building showers, so this might get better organized in the future.

Visited in February 2024, and we were lucky to have a cerulean blue sky and mild temperatures for us to enjoy the tank and the gardens. However, even with rain is a memorable experience due the water being so deliciously warm. In fact, probably in the Summer the heat will be more difficult to endure (wouldn’t know as I’ve always visited in cooler weather). The garden is massive and we spent an entire morning exploring the nooks and crannies of it before enjoying the waters. Please be aware the water is naturally hot and yellow - it is a volcanic island, after all. The colour is because of iron, so do not use the designer swimsuit you might have as it will be ruined. Preferably wear a dark and old one (swimsuit or bikini) to avoid staining an expensive one and be prepared for dry hair afterwards. The park is undergoing improvement works so there are no changing rooms, however there are shower cubicles (only cold water, I’m afraid) where you can change, and there are enough toilets around the tank. There is also hanging places for your clothes that are protected from the rain. Eating in the park is not allowed, but there is a restaurant on site (didn’t try) and you can leave for a bite in town and return using the same ticket. Whatever the season is an absolutely gorgeous place right in the centre of Furnas (one of my favourite places in São Miguel).

Absolute highlight of our trip. The garden is stunning, even with parts of it undergoing construction/improvements. We’re definitely taking back inspiration for our home garden. The thermal pool was also very enjoyable. We saved it for last after walking around the garden for 45 minutes. On Feb. 6, 2024 the entrance and changing areas are undergoing improvements. The changing rooms are temporary but certainly passable. We came with our bathing suits on underneath our clothes. Right next to the pool are stands (look like umbrellas) to hang up your belongings. We brought our own towels and dark colored swimsuits (as others suggested). This is a must do while on the island.

A beautiful hike which takes about 2h. Unfortunately we weren't lucky to see it due to the fog. But I still enjoyed it. I would do it again. :)

I did an unofficial route bordering the lagoon and the views are spectacular. I arrived early and was able to enjoy the place without people. I was planning to do a circular route, but at one point the seagulls were nesting and became very aggressive, so we couldn't continue and we had to return by the same route. Very easy hiking for those who are used to hiking and logically you have to go with the right clothes.

A breathtaking viewpoint ! Well worth a visit however plan in advance . If you are driving yourself before 7pm then note you will be forced to park up and take the shuttle bus to the top at a charge of €5 per person for a few minutes drive !!!! We were lucky to arrive around 7pm in the evening when the crowds were less and drive ourselves then over mountain to descent to Lagoa . Beautiful scenic drive .

Definitely a must-see. A lake within an extinct volcano crater - wow! The drive up to the views are stunning & the smells from the various flora is amazing.

Beautiful view of the lake and surrounding of this natural reserve. As protected area you cannot drive up there with rental cars. A shuttle bus takes you from a parking place lower on the road.

What a simply breathtaking place! It was very foggy and windy when we visited, but what a phenomenal view!!! There is a trail to climb up but I did not do it, especially in that wind. I highly recommend adding this stop to your itinerary when visiting this island 💗💗

A wonderful place to visit, especially when you go in the morning on a sunny day. The Lagoa do Fogo offers a great view of multiple lakes and gives you an idea of the volcanic origin of São Miguel. If you go after 9 a.m., you have to take a shuttle bus that starts once every hour and costs 2,50 Euro per person. You might need to wait a little and be prepared to board a crowded bus.

Beautiful place, but getting there was a nightmare for us. A police officer wouldn't allow anyone to drive up to the lake themselves, instead you needed to park in a car park half way up and squeeze onto a very busy bus with everyone else paying 5 euros each for a ticket, it was a good 45mins before the bus arrived as well). It was also a hassle getting back down as the buses seem to just stop in random places to pick people up, not the designated bus stops. This ended up with people arguing with bus drivers and even the drivers arguing amongst themselves and cost us at least an hour waiting on the mountain before we could get back to the car park for our car. Overall not the best experience.

Definitely go there. It is worth exploring the paths around the lake. You will get tired, but the views will make up for it. Note: there are no places to buy drinks or snacks nearby - take them with you on the trip. There is spacious parking.

If you decide to follow the Google Map route (as I did) you'll end up walking in a dirt road for about 1 hour until you reach the lake. Not the best trail ever but it has some nice flora and viewpoints later on. It also goes mostly uphill. You need to leave the car at the beginning (there's a parking spot nearby)

Very very beautiful thermal pools inside a forest full of all kinds of beautiful trees and plants. 3 thermal pools & a waterfall. Make sure to go in the waterfall pool first (it’s warm but not hot) and then go down to the warmer pools you pass when you arrive. They allow 200-250 per 1.5 hour session, so you can arrive to book but have to wait for a later session if you don’t book earlier enough. Not terrible with all the beautiful viewpoints around to kill the time though!

Great parking available, with an entry fee of €10. This gets you access to two small springs where you'll feel like a fish in a can. The water temperatures are quite varied, one around 33-35°C and the other a cooler ~21°C in the middle of the day, which you'll definitely notice due to the crowd. The changing rooms are in short supply, leading to queues. They're wooden and in a state that's half decent, half not – much like everything else on the island.The showers are hidden near the toilets, comprising two of each. These showers deserve a special mention; reminiscent of old Russian camps, they're dirty with rust, and the pipes are corroded, operated by an industrial-style tap with a handle. And, only cold showers here, folks – no hot water available, even for an extra fee, so dreaming of using a hairdryer is all you can do. There are lockers located near the first changing rooms, small and payable, though I didn’t investigate further. Given the overall condition, I decided against taking a dip.One thing baffles me: with such natural beauty around, it's perplexing how the locals lack any sense of preparing the environment for comfortable use. The price-quality ratio is very poor. While other springs might be slightly better, they also lack thoughtful amenities. The water is turbid, and it's unclear whether this is due to its natural state or the number of people.

The park has a very small territory. We drove so much to walk through the whole area in under 10 minutes. The main attraction was thermal booths, which had limited daily tickets. So buy them ahead, otherwise you'll end up in a strange disappointing situation. We didn't know what to do else (as thermal booth tickets were sold), so left the park quickly. Could be improved by introducing dynamic ticketing system to track the incoming/outcoming flow of people and let people enjoy more of the baths, whenever possible.

Nature is beautiful. Friendly and helpful staff. Bur, there are too many people, more than this place can accommodate. I went there early, where many available tickets were on the website and yet, it was too crowded. There are 4 changing rooms and lockers cost 2 euros. In total, I paid 12 euros for 1.5 hours. It was nice, but I still think there should be improvement.

Very nice hot springs with a good temperature variation. One thing you must do it book before hand because the line can be hours long if you don't. I found the education centre very interesting with lots of information about the site and the Azores in general.

Beautiful experience of bathing in thermal hot water (34-36°C) or under a waterfall (24°C) surrounded luxurious vegetation. The place is small, 3 small pools with hot water. Is it worth? In my opinion, yes. I recommend to book your entrance online, and you have to do it at least the day before. They allow 100 people max per turn; turns of 1.5h, starting at 9am (first come, first served). We have been at the one at 4pm and it was not crowded. There is a big parking area and a small food truck for a snack in front of the entrance. Inside, there are two areas with changing cabins, one before and one after the thermal bath. The second one is at the waterfall. Bring with you only the necessary, and if you can change at the parking, better ;)

Make sure you visit the little exhibition after spending as much time as possible in the water. The place is impressive, out of a Jurassic Park movie in terms of vegetation and the surroundings. The staff is nice, the water is truly hot and the facilities have places for changing and lockers (rental padlocks cost 1€ each)

Make sure you have EUROS!!!! The Springs were amazing. The natural noises of the streams sound surreal. The bubbling springs where people were sitting, relaxing, and enjoying were nice. There is a place to change clothes. The pathways are super clean and an easy route to the top springs. I could smell sulfur. I wonder if anyone else could. It's just a beautiful place to visit.
