The casino is a beautiful and luxurious place with baccarat and roulette tables. It's frequented by famous people like Dostoyevsky and Marlene Dietrich. The basement has slot machines for losers only, but it's still classy and stylish. The barman is also very cool.
We were here for a surprise 3 course Menu. The food was very tasty, portions not big, but big enough at the end of the evening.
Quite evening when we were there and they reserved a nice table for us.
Non alcoholic cocktail for my partner was surprisingly good.
Good place to stop before the evening in the casino itself.

This restaurant is indescribably difficult to describe. Everything is so thoughtfully designed. I am greeted as soon as I enter, and the experience begins. Also the food was so delicious ,I could not forget it

Reputed as the most beautiful casino outside of Monaco, so something we had to visit when in Baden Baden. It certainly is amazing! Very pretty. The service is also incredible, a really luxurious feel about it all. We went over the Christmas period, so it was quite quiet, but still a very good atmosphere. Also highly recommend the restaurant inside; The Grill
Dave Selkirk — Google review
A really beautiful and majestic casino with quite rustic decoration, which creates the ultimate feeling of luxury! Unfortunately it was closed when I visited it but the feeling was unique.

Faaaantastic! We went to the Christmas Market and was probably in our top 10 markets purely because it had less crowds than the big city markets and the stores were more upmarket and not the usual same old, same old. Definitely worth a visit

Great place to reveal your alter ego, lol .. Best come with black tie 👔 for men and evening dress 👗 for the ladies... Great attention to details on the decor!
Winnie Sarah — Google review
Why it lost one start- Entrance fees are ridiculous for a casino- house wins plus drinks are properly priced so not needed if a dress code is enforced (to keep out no players or keep it classy)
Why 4 stars? Great building. Tables are nice and clean and well run. Table mins are fully reasonable (10€ for blackjack and 2€ for roulette). Bar has quality drinks.
Surprisingly on a Saturday was able to get on a blackjack table as well as a roulette table without a wait.

Old and beautiful casino, which was visited by many famous people. You can also take a guided tour every hour until 12pm.

Gorgeous! Public was allowed to enter the lobby and restaurant only. Must see.
Maral Kharadjian — Google review
The experience was nice, inside the casino is projecting you in an old-fashioned movie. I loved it!
Giovanni Cerminara — Google review
Beautiful casino which was an awesome setting for the company dinner. The game area itself had a slightly weird mix, some yuppies who seemed overly eager to show their wealth or show off in some way and some who looked quite miserable and were probably gambling addicts.
So the place itself was very clean, friendly and alert staff. The prices are very much adjusted and it felt like in Switzerland with 17€ for a longdrink seems like a lot for germany.
Alexander Ball — Google review
Impressive and beautiful historical casino. Stumbled across the casino tour by accident and we were glad we visited. Got to see the splendour of the lavishly designed casino which underwent renovations in 2016 and 2019. Retain their historical splendour. Having visited Monte Carlo was very impressed with gem of a casino. The restaurant inside the casino looked very nice although we didn't try it.
Jen — Google review
One of a kind casino. It is an art gallery with casino in it. Very well kept and maintained. I am not sure why they charge so much but I like the dress code
Anil Kumar — Google review
They will ask you to rent jacket if you are a man hist with a coat. For women they are flexible. So 10 euros the rented jacket 2 euros wardrobe, 5 euros entrance t start with. Roulette tables don't have chairs and you have to pay to drinks. So there is a negative vibe before you start betting. On the other side it's a magnificent building, nice atmosphere and playing in such a palace its an experience to live.
Mike Zaloumis — Google review
I came to the casino to meet someone awesome on what ended up being a very memorable date.
We went to the casino restaurant where we enjoyed various impressive courses including perfectly cooked steak with gold flakes, grilled veggies, sushi, tar tar, and some exquisite wine.
The location is very nice, and the people are very friendly.
Later on we went to the bar and joined a party and drank champagne with some very fun strangers.
Was an unexpected awesome night that I’ll fondly remember.

The Architecture of this Casino is gorgeous. You are playing with an amazemement on your surroundings. It's so classy. Must wear formal if you go there. No jeans or shorts. You can take pictures of the ceilings or walls but not when there are people on your way..They are strict on that.

Every of Europe's city possess squares / platz.... for the citizens to gather and celebrate.... Marktplatz Freudenstad is one among them.... Decorated with spectacular floral gardens enhance it's beauty. The square is surrounded by numerous restaurants supplying the local taste.... and of course a church open all the time for the public for personal prayers...without which no European towns exist.

A beautiful square with shops and cafes surrounding it. There is no fee to go here. There are fountains which go off and on, great for a hot day to run in and out of if you dare! A great place to wander the time away

Easy parking in middle of town. Toilets at side of car park. Edge of square filled with interesting shops and restaurants. Fountains are nice to watch, or run through, depending on your preference! A couple of minutes walk along the main road will lead to more shops and places to eat.

Beautiful small town surrounded by Black Forest (dense pine trees forest). This is one of the place which most of European senior citizens will come for their vacation. Almost all building, old and new, have beautiful facade and decorated with beautiful blooming flowers.
Have variety of shops selling good products.
For moslems, there are several halal restaurants and cafes established by Turks and Indian moslems.

The fountain is brilliant for kids to play in, greag arcades with ahops all around, nice Cafés and a very nice play park.
One of Germany's highest waterfalls, accessed by hiking trail, plus shop & café at the bottom.
We visited in October and it was a breathtaking walk. My children loved the playground before and after we took the shortest trek up to the falls. There are restrooms at the entrance. We would love to visit again.
Kim Dobson — Google review
I highly recommend going now during the fall when the leaves are changing colors. It is absolutely stunning. There are three parking areas, two small ones at the top and the middle…with the largest at the bottom. If you want a good hike up to get the blood flowing, park at the bottom. Parking is inexpensive. Bring coins.

This waterfall I found pretty nice and not too stressful to navigate. There’s a ticket to be purchased before or at the entrance , I like that there’s various angles to view the fall and also that they have provided Benches and rest areas for people who need to take a break from all the climbing and walking. It is located in a beautiful town and is a must visit ! Loved it
Lawal Dele — Google review
I have been here a couple of times and really enjoy this beautiful town in black forest. The waterfall itself is the main attraction in the town. It's definitely worth the visit once but, the charm of the town is something else. A bus goes from Triberg station to the market area from where, you need to walk around 200 meters to reach the entrance. Check the DB app for transport information as Google maps doesn't show the bus information (at least this was the case for me, every time I visited).
arkajyoti bhattacharyya — Google review
This place is good to spend your evening with or without family. Its not that tough hike. There are two ways if you wish to complete the hike, one is simple way they have made who is not in mood to go breathless and other one is steep where you can shred some fats. But both the ways are not tough at all. It is worth to see this waterfall not only in summer but in winter. Since we were students we got the ticket in 7.5 € per person otherwise it is 8€ for adult. There are benches at all the level and bridge where you can stop by and relax and enjoy the view. Inside there are no counters to buy food but you can bring ur drink n food if you wish. Outside of waterfall you have lot many restaurants where you can enjoy. Its kinda tourist place so you will find international people as well. Overall it's good place to visit once at least to chill and relax.
Meera Upadhyay — Google review
Beautiful waterfalls! Many places to click amazing photos! The roads are big enough to walk, and you can hike alongside the majestic waterfalls! The view of the city is awesome as well! A lot you can hike up, and even though it was crowded, we had enough space to walk! Recommended!
Anusha Gandhi — Google review
After a long trek it's very pleasant feeling to see waterfalls, here there are several ways to trek, we can go up or down and vice versa and also different routes for going up for path finders. We have to take a ticket at the entry anyway. We will get a nice view if we see it from very bottom.
Hari Charan Bolisetty — Google review
Pretty outstanding. Very accessible on paved walking paths, is it a little pricey at 7 Euros per person for access to a short hike up the trail, yes, but you are here for the experience not the low cost.
Eric Degen — Google review
A lovely place to go in summer as the water spray is cooling. At first the climb is relatively steep, but after that it winds gently through the woods. There are apparently red squirrels although I saw none, and I paddled in the higher pools in the ice cold water, which is also very welcome in the summer heat. Triberg itself is pretty, scenic and worth seeing.
Philippa L — Google review
Great day out. Entry fee of €6 I think, cash only, ATM on site but it charges €3. Need to wear hard hats, plenty of antibac wipes if needed. Route is well designed, you don't need the strongest of calf muscles but there are a lot of steps. There is a round route walk you can take once at the top of the waterfall route taking you through a forest (a long steep incline), then open countryside to a chapel, and finally down a woodland path. Route takes about 3 and half hours at a steady pace (I'm not a fast walker). The chapel has fresh running water to drink outside.
Colin Hall — Google review
Due to winter season we were only able to do partial way that coated about 6/7 euro each.. we went in like 10min hiking for someone short,, for tall and those who hike that was about 5-7min walk.. still the waterfall was really nice and was not disappointed.. definitely would be more worth it in the summer..
shupty nahar — Google review
My second time here. And it's just as stunning as I remember it. And made even better by the presence of the quaint little cafe at the bottom right on the river, with good food, fair prices.
If walking, hills, mountains and waterfalls are your thing, ADD THIS to your bucket list.
Ron ?RonBSM? Jones — Google review
Nice climb with children. Not very impressive but still a cool piece of nature to watch!
Also, had fun feeding the squirrels in the woods.
Although we expected more from the nightly light effects..
Jourik Feenstra — Google review
Beautiful waterfall with a well laid out series of paths to walk the height of the falls, taking in various views of the fast flowing water. Fairly tame red squirrel in abundance alongside other fauna.
Beware whilst these are good quality pavement-like paths they are, by necessity, very, very steep in parts!
Antony Nelson — Google review
This waterfall I found pretty nice and for that they charge €8. And we need to purchase this ticket from the entrance. The walking path, benches everything is beautifully maintained and absolutely amazing.
Naveen Nandakumar — Google review
Gorgeous place. The green moss surrounding the waterfall makes me think at prehistoric times. I expect dinosaurs to pop out from behind the trees. The waterfall is not busy at all in winter but you might not be able to go all the way up due to ice and snow. The entrance is only 6 euro and it includes the Black Forest museum and the Triberg Fantasy.
Adriana Y — Google review
The Triberg Waterfalls in Germany's Black Forest are a captivating natural spectacle, cascading over seven tiers and dropping a total of 163 meters. The rush of water, surrounded by lush greenery, creates an immersive experience for visitors.
Trails winding through the forest provide various viewpoints, offering different perspectives of the falls. The sound of the roaring water and the mist in the air add to the enchantment of the surroundings.
Accessible to all, these falls offer a serene escape and an opportunity to immerse yourself in the raw beauty of nature. Whether seeking adventure or tranquility, the Triberg Waterfalls provide an awe-inspiring encounter with one of Germany's natural treasures.

The landscape of this area which is on the hill it’s absolutely fantastic. I receive very good energy from here, I also mouved up and down. For visiting the entire place which I hardly recommended.
Robert-Ionuț Stoicescu — Google review
I am so glad we went. If you park at the parking garage in town, the waterfalls are only a short walk up the hill. There is an entrance fee (about 8€ for grown ups) but it also includes the entrance fee to the Black Forest Museum and entrance to Triberg Fantasy. Make sure to hang on to the receipt!
There are two ways to see the falls. One easy way and one strenuous. We are both middle-aged, out of shape people, and we did the strenuous walk, no problem. There is so much to see that you will catch enough breaks. There are also different levels you can walk. Several bridges crossing the falls, giving you the chance to end your walk and walk back to the entrance. It is beautiful, and the shade is great in the summer heat.
Silke H. — Google review
Absolutely beautiful! It was raining so hard but it didn’t stop us from enjoying the scenery.
We came here during winter time so the weather wasn’t really that cheerful. It was wet all over the place but isn’t that slippery.
Around the area there’s many restaurants where you can eat and drink. Souvenir stores is just in every corner!

It features flower-lined gardens, a boating lake, playgrounds for children, and various other attractions. It is also home to monuments and sculptures, including the Europe Parliament building.
Such a pretty park! It’s so big and calm. There is a playground for little kids, some animals and a lake to go in boats ! A must if you are in Strasbourg. I enjoy the ice cream and the staff was very nice

Amazing place where you can take a walk with your family, children have many possibilities to have fun. There are a few different playgrounds, where kids can play in a different ways and explore different things. I loved it .
We had an amazing afternoon there. Even in beggining of April , when it was raining, it was beautiful.

Lovely park near the city center and next to the European Parliament.
It has very nice gardens to relax, a playground for children to play, toilets near a free car park, a small zoo.
You can also find a café and a bowling alley right next to the car park.

Beautiful space to roam and play with kids. We came here on the hottest day of the summer (100 degrees F* on a June Sunday) and still enjoyed ourselves. We went to the pond, mechanic car kids track, the zoo, the fountain by the manor, and the playground and were sad to leave. Definitely worth a trip here if you’re in the area! Enjoy the storks, as the park is a reservation for them.

The parts of flat makes easy access for wheelchairs etc. Beautiful absolutely beautiful

Really beautiful park, colourful trees and rock structures with a small water body. Do take a visit here if you visit Strasbourg
Nilav — Google review
One of the most magnificent parks that I have ever been too, if not THE most. The park itself is massive and has so much to offer. Lots of places to picnic, playgrounds, ponds and areas to boat. The flower gardens were my favorite and the storks of course! This is a must if you’re in the area. My only advice is to wear shoes/clothes you feel comfortable getting dirty because the paths aren’t paved, so it can get very dusty especially if there is a bit of wind.
The Cathedral of Strasbourg is a beautiful, gothic edifice built in 1187 to 1439 with a 16th-century astronomical clock and rose window. It is considered the world's tallest building from 1647 to 1874 and still the sixth tallest church today. The walls of the cathedral keep a 1000-year history of luck and disappointment, victorious victories and unforgivable defeats.
What a wonderful cathedral!! The clock inside is really neat. I loved the nativity scenes and I'm so glad they were still up when we went in January. We climbed up the tower, which was a highlight of our entire vacation!

This is a must see location if you are within 100 miles. Strasbourg the old city is just incredible for old buildings and interesting sites. The Cathedral is very impressive from the outside and the inside is just Great. The altar and the backdrop are very well done. The stained glass is amazing as well. I walked to the top of the Cathedral and highly recommend doing this if you can. Great views and interesting views of the Cathedral as you climb.

Very impressive cathedral. Specially the stunning astronomical clock which is a master piece of engineering and is a must see if visiting.cathedral is very big. Inside always prayers are going on.
recommend to visit at night so you can see the most spectacular music and light show projected onto the exterior of the cathedral.
Infront of cathedral many shop having so many instruments and also live paintings will be going on.

Exceptional views, beautiful architecture, in my eyes it is a must to visit during your stay in Strasbourg. Ticket is absolutely worth it, considering the effort to climb the way up. Inside the cathedral entry is free. The size, area, mosaics made me deeply think how much time and effort it took to create and build this miracle. Miraculous❤️..

Absolutely beautiful! There is an amazing clock in the back right corner that does a little something every 15 minutes. It’s not amazing but it’s cute and fun to see if you’re around. The gift shop was great and some good finds for good prices. The nativity scene inside was absolutely gorgeous!

This was a beautiful cathedral in a beautiful city. Had such a great time. There is a little train right outside that you can take for 8 euro that will give you a tour of the petite France area.

Came over from offenburg Germany. It was a short drive. It was on a French holiday so I think it was extra busy. The cathedral was very pretty. You could walk around on your own. There was no English translations quite. If you get an app on your phone you can just shine it on the signs and it'll read it in English for you. It was a recording picking on every now and then to ask us to shush. Although I don't think we were being loud, the crowd was in the church at that time.

I was surprised to discover that this is also a beautiful cathedral. It is not that far from the one in Paris. The line to get in (on the left of the front side) is for free but can get very long. The line for going up to the tower (on the right side) has a cost. Definitely recommended!

Very impressive cathedral. It is breathtaking to look up and realize how small we are. It is a very historical cathedral and 142 m high. It is for free to go up the stairs. The view has to be amazing. Unfortunately the queue on weekends especially sundays is too long. But the city has a very nice atmosphere. I liked and enjoyed it a lot.
Sinja Merkel — Google review
The cathedral is breathtaking from every angle, with stained glass, spires, and intricate designs living every inch of the building. You won’t find yourself bored when visiting here. I waited for maybe a minute to get inside and did not have to pay. Niece inside you are free to walk around within the designated areas. If you are feeling in the mood, you can buy and light a candle in the cathedral. There is also two gift shops!

Absolutely beautiful but at the same time has to make you question the money and power of the church. It is a beautiful sight but the people could benefit in so many more ways than the enormous expense building.

Very impressive cathedral especially the stunning astronomical clock which is a master piece of engineering and is a must see if visiting. I highly recommend visiting again at night so you can see the most spectacular music and light show projected onto the exterior of the cathedral.

A wonderful cathedral, truly a work of art in every way. Entrance is free into the church, but a ticket of 8.5 euro to take the stairs up - which you must do, the views are spectacular {approx 300 steps up and 300 down, on a spiral staircase}. The clock at the back is a marvel to behold, from the 16th century. The church area is peaceful, take some time to sit and reflect no matter your religion.

Today is a sunny day and it’s a nice opportunity to take photos of The Cathedral Notre Dame de Strasbourg. No fee to enter the Cathedral, only security check on bags.
It’s a Saturday and there were many people around the square. Part of the Cathedral is under renovation, yet we still managed to see the major parts of the building.
A historical building with impressive architecture.
A local friend gave us some tips. The best time To go up to the top of the cathedral is around lunch time. Sensible and perfect idea 👍🏻

Wasn’t a huge fan of Strasbourg overall, but the cathedral is absolutely worthy of the trip; it is imposingly beautiful inside and out. You can see the cathedral from just about anywhere in the city and it’s still difficult to fathom the size of it once you’re upon it. It was stunning.

Beautiful Historic Monument. Probably one of the most beautiful religious cathedral from France.
Specific times to get in
The astronomical clock is impressive and has so many resources and surprises.
The man speaking once in a while on the microphone to ask people to turn the volume down is the one making most of the noise.
Go visit this landmark.

Absolutely amazing and beautiful work of art!! Breathtaking views!!! Well worth the price. If you are afraid of heights do not go on the tower. My daughters had no issues.

The most conspicuous building in Strasbourg. It’s full of beauty and historical charm. There are lots things to see - external decorations, climbing to the top to have a great view of the city, internal decorations and carpets. Finally there is the Astronomical clock inside. The history of the cathedral reflects the history of the city which is breathtaking. In front of the church you can find lots of Noel markets in the holiday season in winter.
Petite France, a bustling tourist center in the city, is renowned for its well-preserved half-timbered homes like the Tanners' House that was constructed in 1572. The area's cobblestone streets and canals add to its charm. Barrage Vauban, a covered bridge and dam from the 17th century, has a terrace which offers breathtaking views of the surroundings.
Münsterplatz, also known as Cathedral Square, is a bustling public square located at the heart of the old town in Münster. The square is dominated by the impressive Gothic cathedral made of red sandstone, which is renowned for its towering spire visible from afar. Visitors can explore the square and immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere, especially during the farmer's markets held here throughout the week.
The Freiburg Cathedral is a beautiful, iconic Gothic cathedral located in the heart of Freiburg, Germany. The building dates back to 1200 and features stunning lacy spires, cheeky gargoyles, and intricate entrance portal. The cathedral is decorated with a large number of artistic details, making it an excellent place to enjoy the view. There are also restaurants and stores along the street.
Very detailed cathedral, I can watch it for hours and find more and more things. Surrounded by the small local market with flowers, fruits, sausages (highly recommend to try one, very tasty stuff!), wooden goods, etc. Don’t forget to see the cathedral inside. It worth it, trust me. Reminds me the famous Strasbourg cathedral, but a smaller version of it. One love ❤️

Oh man, where do I start? I love pipe organs and this cathedral has a huge pipe organ divided into three parts. If you visit the place, they to find the three pieces, it's awesome. I'd love to see it being played but I didn't have the chance yet. Beautiful place.

The Freiburg Munster was so magical and pure. Make sure to respect others and to maintain silence inside the Munster. Perfect place to be at peace and to enjoy the architecture as well. Can light up candles for 0.70cents and buy candles to take home for 3 euros.

This Münster offers mesmerizing views from the top. One of the famous and beautiful tower in Germany. It has a very attractive architecture and history.

Very Beautiful Cathedral in the town of Freiburg im Breisgau. This town is at the edge of the famous Black Forest area.
There are lot of hotels to stay very close to the Freiburger Munster, in and around the square. When we stayed for a night, the square around the Munster was occupied by a wonderful Christmas market, where you could get excellent food (including vegan options), and nice artisanal items. This place is also close to the Swiss border from Basel.

This church is worth a visit. They do hold masses in German which was a challenge but it gave me an opportunity to see it as it was meant to be seen. We were told it was only structure spared during the war. Romanesque and Gothic architecture.

I have visited quite a number of cathedrals in Southern Germany, and Freiburger Münster showcases the most beautiful set of stained glass windows. Absolutely breathtaking! The steeple height is surely imposing, standing high and mighty above the beautiful city of Freiburg im Breisgau.

Freiburg Cathedral, since 1200s. Some interesting facts about this masterpiece. It’s actual foundation is based on a church started in 1120s, in line with that in 2020, Freiburg celebrated in 900 years Anniversary. Only Gothic church in Germany dating back to Middle Ages, which survived wars and still smiling.
Out of 16 bells, the oldest dating back to 1258, oldest Angelus bell in Germany. It took 300+ years to realize this dream. The church is surrounded with market on weekdays, called as Münster market which brings local produce for sale. This tradition has been here since Freiburg wrote its name in history. So, a visit to the market is a different vibe. Can you go the church tower. Of course. 300+ steps will take you to the top of church tower base, where you can enjoy panoramic view of Blackforest and the city. Best time is Autumn during sunset. Check closing time before the visit. The church tower Entrance ( Münsterturm) is outside the church on left side.
Wish you beautiful day.

Great cathedral for art lovers, the last work of Hans Holbein the younger can be seen here in the Universittate chapel (2 eur entrance). Other works are great too, unfortunately i did not find the info about the painters… anyway it is worth to enjoy!

A spectacular cathedral, right in downtown and surrounded by some beautiful old buildings. The entrance is free, and the environment inside is darkish and quiet. The glass windows are beautiful, and the shafts of light coming in are amazing. The ceiling has lovely textures, so do look up. It is nice to take a moment to sit and take in the calm. It is also lovely to walk around on the outside and notice the stone carvings.

Lovely chapel at the top of a mountain. The view on sunny days is incredible, you can see as far as Strasbourg. Lots of pretty buildings to visit and learn about, the place oozes history. The café is very good, and for adventurers, take the path down to the natural water source. You can even drink the water, so fill your bottles before going for a walk!

Nestled in the heart of a forest near Kintzheim, La Montagne des Singes is a wildlife park spanning 24 hectares where over 200 Barbary macaques roam freely. Visitors can embark on a guided forest walk to observe these fascinating creatures and learn about their behavior from the knowledgeable staff. The park also features a playground area for children, offering an interactive experience that allows them to simulate being monkeys.
An enjoyable 90 minutes spent wandering through the forest at the Montagne des Singes.
The monkeys all looked well cared for and they seemed to be as curious about us as we were about them!
A perfect place for families or budding photographers - the monkeys were great subjects for photos as they loved to pose!
The park has a large car park, snack bar and lots of picnic tables (set away from the monkeys).

I dident expect the place was like this, the apes enjoy this park is a big open forest were the apes sleep live and interact with humans in their own terms, is not allow to harrase the animals and is a fascinating experience be a silent spectator.
Very fine experience in a very nice place.

a wonderful park, full of macaques walking in the freedom among people. You can find a buoy of monkeys or a very lovingly hugging family with a small monkey. Idea and the way to make the park.Big parking and restaurant.Perfect place.
Marcin Biechowski — Google review
Great park with enough space for the monkeys. Having been there for the 3rd time we probably didn't spend as much time there as others would. We spent around 2 hours including a cool drink/ice at the kiosk afterwards.
The only negative thing to say is that during feeding the only spoken language is french (though it is possible to ask questions in English or German after).
However, when you have a child along who not yet speak more than one language it is (for the child) a quite boring experience to just stand there and listen for 10-15 minutes to something which you do not understand.

Monkey Mountain was great! My 8 and 11 year olds enjoyed walking through the monkey area. We saw a few baby monkeys that were the most adorable things ever! The staff walking around was super kind and told us all about the monkeys. After we left the monkeys we spent some time at the playground. There is a fantastic "monkey" play area where the kids can climb through an elevated sort of ropes course and then other activities to simulate being a monkey.

Love this place with the monkeys running wild and living their life in a perfectly designed place. The proximity of the monkeys, the entertainment and learning along the way, the beauty of the nature and the peace in this place are unmatched. An activity to enjoy for half a day, if not longer!

The park is stunning and it’s super fun for young and old (there’s lots to learn, the personell is very friendly, there’s a playground, and there’s even a really cool climbing park up in the trees for anyone over 120cm). It’s an amazing experience for a really fair price, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone 🐒

A very nice place..
I was expecting more monkeys to see and unfortunately there weren't many..
They said that we would eat the monkeys... It turned out that they only feed them..
The big problem is that things are told about the monkeys and not in English.. Or at least someone will translate from French... or a machine that will translate.. Unfortunately we didn't really enjoy it..

Very nice place. To see the monkeys in their natural habitat, so close to you is fantastic! I recomend to go there at the feeding time, if possible, because the caretaker will explain many interesting facts. The personal of this natural park is very kind and friendly.
Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg is a 12th-century mountain fortress that has been restored with an artillery platform, medieval garden and royal rooms. The ruins of this beautiful castle were gifted to the German emperor Wilhelm II in 1901 by the town of Selestat. Visitors should reserve tickets online in advance as picnics are not allowed inside and there is only a small cafeteria available. The tour includes many stairs distributed across different levels but offers breathtaking views.
Castliest of the castles. Really well laid out tour of the chateau with some amazing views as well. Though they warn of a lot of steps, they come in smallish chunks as you tour different levels, so don't let the stairs count scare you off.

This is a medieval castle which has a unique history where the ownership has changed between Germany and France. You get to see a lot of rooms on your visit and spectacular scenery of the surrounding hills. Prepare to climb lots of steps. I liked seeing the stained glass windows. There's information cards in each of the rooms. Unfortunately there were no audio guides left on the day we visited, which was a bank holiday weekend. I would advise to get there early because the parking is on street and limited. You might end up walking far to reach the castle. But it's certainly worth a visit.

No handicap access. Must be able to walk up and down hills and steps. No elevator access. Other than that, it's a great place to visit!! We had a beautiful day, 19C degrees and blue skies. The castle/fortress is beautiful and well described by the audio guide. It took us about 2 hours to go through. Don't skip the gift shop! It has unique gifts and we received a coupon for 2 drinks & pastries when we spent over 100€. Look at the photos to understand the beautiful and all these walls contain. Doors open at 9:15am and close at 6om.

A beautiful castle, allows access with the car and you can enter it's yard for free, but of you want to go up the castle, you'd have to get a ticket and go up 300 stairs.
We skipped the stairs as we were with a baby, but we didn't regret it - the view is breathtaking and the castle itself leaves you in awe.
I was surprised we could access all the way into the castle with our baby stroller, we don't really feel comfortable with the baby carrier, so if you're looking for a castle that's easily accessible, this is a great place to visit.
Also, there's a small café and gift shop before going up the castle and they have a great coffee with whipped cream on top.
We highly recommend this one!

Very good castle on the great view spot. Unfortunately, not too many decorations were saved inside the castle.
Also, due to many narrow paths inside and many people be prepared to wait for some time to walk around. Maybe letting people inside by small groups would solve the issue of chaotic movement

Up on the heights of Orschwiller, the outline of this imposing building can be seen from far across the plain. Visitors can't come to Alsace without paying a visit to one of its most popular monuments, which offers an outstanding view and in clear weather you can sometimes see the Alps.
When visitors enter the Castle of Haut-Kœnigsbourg through its main gate, they embark on a journey back into the Middle Ages... Its courtyard, forge, mill, spiral staircases, drawbridges, arms room, keep and canons are constant reminders of the original purpose of this mountaintop fortress.
Built in the 12th century, over the years it belonged to a series of illustrious owners. It was Emperor William II who decided to restore it.
It was used as a film location for the film "La Grande Illusion", but also "Les aventures d'Arsène Lupin" by Jacques Becker, not to mention a number of scenes from the film "Agent trouble" by Jean-Pierre Mocky.
Its unique atmosphere has fascinated many artists. Come along and discover the charm of this amazing Alsatian site for yourself...
Nearby, visitors can also visit the Volerie des Aigles (Eagle Park) and the Montagne des Singes (Monkey Mountain).

A beautiful place mostly from the outside. The inside is also interesting but can be visited in an hour. The views of the top towers are amazing though and certainly are worth checking out. There are many staircases so not a very easy to visit castle for older people or people with disabilities. And it's not expensive (7 euros for students.) Enjoy!

Very cool castle but VERY crowded. Don’t be afraid to drive closer to the front to find parking. Everyone followed each other and parked way down the mountain but if you drive up closer to the entrance you’ll likely find a bunch of empty spots and won’t have to walk as far.
Lots of history to read as you walk through. Beautiful views.

Quite the nice visit here. We came on a chilly but sunny Sunday, and we loved discovering the castle and the view from there.
Nice easy explanations along the way; it's made for kids, but in such a good way that it's really comprehensive and understandable for all.
We didn't feel the need for the audioguide.
Entrance was 7e, as a small part of the tower was not accessible when we visited.
You can spend 1h30 inside easily, less if you rush a bit.

Easy to access (nice road leading up there!) and to park but you might have to walk a little bit until the entrance.
The castle was beautifully renovated, the pink stones are very authentic and original. The visit is well organised, where you learn about the various historic periods. Even with foggy weather, you'll enjoy a fantastic view.
Audioguides are available for 4.5€, but you also can opt for a free booklet which is also giving the necessary info along with the signs.
Be aware, during week days they are closing entrance from 12:00 until 13:15

Amazing castle atop of a mountain with great views. Kaiser Wilhelm II built on top of the older castle from 1900 to 1908. Nestled in the clouds and when it clears, views to the black forest. Nice tea room and restaurant.
Upscale spa facilities including a thermally heated outdoor pool, saunas & aqua-fitness classes.
What a nice Therme/Spa destination, with excellent facilities. Indoor and outdoor pools are all comfortable and warm at around 26.5 degree or more depending on which bath you go. A wonderful Roman bath area, great sauna land with separate pool. Restaurant menu with many options to choose from. Good value. In case you have parked your car at the city carpark nearby you will get 2 hours for free.

Lovely historic facility with a modern interior. Thermal water with small amount of varying temperature pools. Only a small amount of jets and bubblers, but a nice Roman-Irish bath available additionally with soap-brush option. Ample lockers, lounges and changing cabins. The relaxation theme is dampened by the roughhousing of the plethora of children at times. It does get crowded and parking is ample, but a hike away. Staff is multilingual and helpful, lifeguards are professional and friendly, both have an excellent rapport with guests and look like good co-workers in an enjoyable place to work.

A nice spa that I think was reasonably good value for money. The roman irish spa ritual was a little bit disappointing, in that the atmosphere wasn't very relaxing or anything.
The baths were nice, with a very large outdoor pool. The warm indoor pool was quite busy for its size and had lots of kids running about so it wasn't relaxing at all.
Also, there were many signs saying not to reserve chairs with towels, but this wasn't enforced because there wasn't a single chair without someone's towel on when we were there.

Amazing place. I visited with my girlfriend. First of all the area is very peaceful and calm with nice scenery. The place is really well organized with a well thought security system. The shower areas and the bathrooms were extremely clean. It wasnt that crowded, maybe its because we got adviced by the Employee to start from the saunas. There is a canteen which sells food inside but most of the menu is available until 8 o clock. There are saunas with different temperatures and most of them are aromatic. I was wearing my swim suit and I also had a towel with me but I suggest you to take a bath robe.

The place is big with several pools. This is for a very reasonable price. The one thing I would have liked to see (possibly for a higher admission fee) was a higher difference in pool temperatures in the clothed area. There are no "hot" or "cold" pools in this area. Possibly in the non-clothed area.

Colmar is a really popular and busy spot. But one can see why that is. It is an unbelievably pretty town, with a very walkable and accessable town center.
The old town is pretty compact and could be visited in one day. But make sure to give it a few days if possible.
There are endless sights, architectual masterpieces on every corner with the typical buildings, lots of wonderful shops and endless dining options.
There's the impressive Collégiale St-Martin, the Église des Dominicains, the Église Saint-Matthieu, the Grand Rue, the Place du Marché Aux Fleurs, the Fontaine Schwendi, the Parc du Champ de Mars, Maison des Têtes, the Place du 2 Février, the Parc Montagne verte, the wonderful Marché couvert and of course Petite Venise. And that's just to name a few sights.
It's nice to just wander around and to get lost in the various lanes and streets of colmar. Nice butcher shops with local goodies, lots of delicous bakeries and of course the restaurants. Sauerkraut and Flammkuchen are local specialties of course. But there's a lot more than that. We very much enjoyed "Les Racines" (a bit hidden away) and "Le Fer Rouge" (right in the middle of the action). Good food, nice staff, high quality, fair prices.
We found out that most restaurants are dog-friendly. Inside and out, as in most of France.
Even though quite a busy town packed with visitors it's one of the most beautiful spots in France (city-wise). Definitely worth a visit for a couple of days. We'll be back again in a few weeks.

Vieille Ville in Colmar is like stepping into a fairy tale. This old town is full of colorful half-timbered houses that look straight out of a storybook. As you stroll the narrow cobblestone streets, you'll find cafes, bakeries, and shops with local crafts. Don't miss visiting the impressive St. Martin's Church with its stunning architecture. It's a must-visit for anyone who loves the charm and history of old European towns

Lovely old town, visible in one day. Imposing german architecture in the center of the old town, in contrast with the more french ones from outside of the city.

The old town of Colmar is definitely worth a visit if you realize that many others see it that way too.
The mass of people reduces the experience somewhat, but that doesn't speak against but rather for the old town.
A visit during the week is definitely preferable to the weekend.
This holiday apartment in the charming town of Little Venice is perfect for visitors looking for a bit of relaxation and beauty. The area is well-known for its historic houses, fairy tale vibe, and meandering Lauch River. The apartment has been decorated in an elegant style with all the necessary amenities to make your stay comfortable. The town itself is also very charming and offers plenty of activities to enjoy, such as exploring its colorful half-timbered houses or taking a boat ride on the river.

I used it with my family of 4. Nice view along the river, quiet and romantic place at night. The building itself is very old, but the inside has been beautifully renovated, and the electrical appliances, utensils, and tableware around the kitchen were all there, and it was very clean!
I parked my car in front of the hotel and moved to a nearby parking after carrying my luggage.
I think the location is great as there are markets and restaurants nearby.
The owner, Madam, spoke English, and although we arrived late at around 8:30 pm, she waited for us in front of the hotel after a phone call, and we were able to receive the keys. rice field.

Best apartment we stayed in whilst on our 2 week tour of Europe!!!
So cosy, comfortable beds and sofa! A TV we could actually listen to as had the option to change some channels to English.
Such a lovely view also! Right out on to the little canal! Highly recommend!!!

A "Real Eyeopener"!
This compact "old town" area of Southeast Colmar is a place "not to be missed" by visitors! It gets its name due to the "historic houses" built on both sides of the small, meandering, Lauch River.... and the "fairy tale vibe". The area is wonderful to walk around-- and has cobbled streets, colourful "half-timbered" houses, and a "covered market". It can also be seen by boat. It has been awarded by TripAdvisor the esteemed "Certificate of Excellence". It is indeed well worth a visit. It is no wonder that it has been rated as one of the "top of places" to visit/things to do, while in Colmar. It will definitely add to one's memories of the visit.
I hope that this Review has been helpful.

Lovely time walking around Home Little Venice there's so much more than the picturesque bridge's to see with a few lovely restaurants along the canal, and little boat trip back and forth . It's only a short walk from here to the indoor market .

Basel Minster is a famous Protestant Gothic style church with twin spires and a tiled roof built in the 9th century. It is located on Munsterhugel, the highest point in Basel, and is easily spotted by its prominent spires and brightly patterned roof tiles.
One of the most iconic landmark in Basel that you have to see. If you are brave enough to climb to the top of the tower, you will be rewarded by the breathtaking view of the city across the Rhine. And if you look further, you can even see across the French and German country border. Even if you don't have the strength to climb atop of it's tower, the cathedral has an ornate interior as well as a monastery with courtyard right next to the cathedral.

One of the most beautiful churches i have ever seen. Loved the painted glass and the columns, the ceiling and arches. The entrance is free but if you want to go up to the tower you have to pay 6 CHF. And you will want to go to one of the towers, because the view to the river and the city is breathtaking. I never miss this part anywhere, and now i wasn't dissapointed. You will not regret it.

Hey, the tower is an absolute must-visit! The views are absolutely jaw-dropping, giving you the perfect overview of the city. Plus, the ticket prices are a steal compared to other towers in Europe. But hey, here's a tip: don't tackle the climb solo. Some parts of the tower can get pretty spooky with darkness, and those stairs? They're high and narrow, like something out of a medieval adventure! So grab a buddy you trust and make a day of it. Exploring the tower will easily fill up an hour of your time, but remember, it shuts down at 4 pm sharp. So get there early to soak in all the views and enjoy the breeze!

Fascinating gothic style cathedral dating back to the 9th century with rich religious and political history. The view of the city of Basel along the river Rhine is stunning from the top viewing platform. I recommend taking a guided walking tour of Basel like us which covered almost all the attractions including the cathedral with interesting history of the city.

Loved their NYE service. Wholesome and emotional. Some people were unfriendly, but that is not the Minster’s fault, it however left a stain on the experience.

Basel Monastery is located in Basel, Switzerland and is one of the city's major tourist attractions. The monastery is on the Swiss national heritage list. The monastery, which was originally built for the Catholic Church, was transferred to the Protestant Church after the Reformation. The building, which was influenced by Romanex architecture and Gothic architecture between 1019 and 1500, was destroyed in the 1356 Basel Earthquake and was rebuilt by Johannes Gmünd, the architect of the Freiburg Monastery, and completed by Ulrich Ensingen in 1421. The south tower was completed by Hans von Nußdorf in 1500.
When you go to Basel, you should definitely see this place and the Palatinate (Palatinate) Viewing Platform next to it.
Basel Zoo is a large zoo in Switzerland and has a wide variety of animals. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Switzerland and is known for its exotic species.
Fantastic zoo in Basel close to the city centre. Very family friendly and children are allowed to touch some animals. There is feeding of sea lions at 4pm with seats around the pool to watch it.
The zoo is beautifully laid out with lots of different areas for each type of animal.
Has an amazing restaurant and cafe at very reasonable prices.
You can also bring your own food and have a small picnic in some areas but PLEASE make sure you do not feed any animals.
You should allow at least 4 hours so you can enjoy the zoo at a relaxed pace - with young kids you might even spend the whole day there. Definitely worth a visit.

This is an amazing place. I have never seen a rhino :D The Zoo itself looks like a jungle. High grass. Trees and bushes everywhere. I suppose it makes animals feel better - like they're in their natural environment. Once you buy a ticket you get a map of the zoo. It is almost accurate. Paths are ok but not all animals are marked there. However it's not a big inconvenience. We treated it as a surprise. Great place for a family trip, even with a stroller. It took us about 2 hours to see everything.

On an exceptionally hot morning, this beautiful zoo was delightfully cool, with ample shade from the many trees etc. There are so many animals etc. to see, in a comparatively small space - they looked well cared for in attractive surroundings. Lots of places to sit, too. My only minor criticism is that many of the buildings are brutalist in style and lack charm. Easy to reach by bus or tram.
Simon Richards — Google review
As it was the middle of winter when I visited quite a lot of the bigger animals were hiding in their sleeping quarters, but the birds were very active, preparing their nests for the breeding season.
I loved that so many of the birds were free to fly around in their enclosures or even in the open air.
The multi-layered exhibits with birds, mammals and even fish in the same enclosures were really interesting.

Absolutely love this place. The number and selection of animals is quite good but the zoo has many interconnected walking paths you can take at your own desire. The design and layout allows you to get pretty close to many animals. There are lots of benches all over so you can stop and rest at any point. Be sure to catch the walking of the Penguins during the colder months. Highly recommend!

Very good zoo, and with the Basel Card discount it's half the price, which I think is incredible!!! 11FR to visit is really good! You can see several animals, but I don't know if I was late or it was cold but many of the animals weren't in the enclosures, so I ended up only seeing the ones that were inside the buildings. Still, it was very worth it. I recommend visiting, five stars!

The whole zoo is very nice and it's not too big but also not too small. Although a lot of things are stoll very old like the benches and some cages for the animals. Otherwise the staff seem all very friendly. And if you go early in the morning there are only a few people and it is very peaceful.

The food in the zoo cantina is also quite nice with good hotdogs.

Little disappointed by the price, which is 20 Euro per person. For this monney I expect to see a lot of animals, but instead of this, I saw only few animals which are interesting.
Aquarium is OK, but why terrarium next to him? Why there are missing tiger, wolf, parrots... Lot of interesting animals are missing. I didn't pay entrance to see wild boar or donkeys. Even that I respect those animals, but.... Really.... In Stuttgart or Karlsruhe You can see more animals. Only thing why there are not only one star because I am satisfied with ambient where are the animals, it is almost like in they habitat. Everything else, is not deserving any stars.

Despite not being a car enthusiast in any way, I absolutely loved this museum. There are vehicles spanning from carriages to formula 1, as well as lots of Bugattis. I would have liked to read more info about the vehicles, they only have a sort description. And more information about the founders of the collection would have been useful. Huge museum but seems stuck in time pre 1980. Some important early cars in here especially Bugatti and others and interestingly includes a modern day Veyron. Vast majority of the collection is very old and either early cars or from 1930s, 40s and 50s when obviously the collection was being assembled. Some really interesting cars too from micro to pedal cars, clangers like the Aston Martin Lagonda, Ferrari 512 and some fun hands-on things for kids. Very cold inside the day we visited and could have been heated. Parking outside is 2euro an hour.

Absolutely stunning collection of mainly Pre War Classics with an outstanding number of Bugatti Cars, but also some other classics can be seen. The space is arranged very well with no unnecessary stuff , we enjoyed the walk through the building.
The only downside is the missing ability to get something to eat in the afternoon, a small bistro menu with fries, Cake, Crepe or Baguette would be a great addition.

The collection is downright fantastic. It's incredible to see that many old cars, all the way to the 1890s, all in perfect operating condition. Fun activities as well (packing a boot to the brim, manually starting an old car...).
Beware of the cold, however, if you visit in winter. The exhibition hall has no heating at all anymore (due to electricity prices). I visited on a freezing day and while it was above zero indoors it wasn't a lot higher!
The bar also isn't particularly remarkable and has a tendency to close early (4:30 is too late already).
All in all, pick a sunny day, go early enough, and you'll have a blast!

My visit to the Mulhouse Automobile Museum was an absolute delight! From the moment we stepped in, the friendly staff members Charlotte and Lauris made us feel welcome. The museum itself is a treasure trove, boasting hundreds of classic vehicles and racing cars. Each exhibit is a masterpiece, but the Bugattis stole the show, giving me goosebumps! Spending the morning with Olly, reminiscing about his childhood and cars, was a highlight. I highly recommend a visit, but don't forget to wear warm clothes, as it can get chilly in March. Be prepared to do a lot of walking, as the place is huge. Overall, a fantastic experience that I'll cherish forever!

The Cité du Train is a contemporary museum showcasing the evolution of trains and railways throughout history. This educational facility boasts an extensive collection of rolling stock, along with immersive audiovisual exhibitions spanning over 6,000 square meters. Visitors are taken on a journey through time from the inception of the Saint-Gervais-Chamonix-Vallorcine line in 1845 to imperial trains and the arduous lives of French railway workers.
Beautiful and large train museum. Interesting exhibition about WW2 and the importance of rail transportation. Never new there was also a fourth class. The differences in the classes was huge. Loved the train cabin the French built for De Gaulle with the extra long bed. The sleeping cabins and restaurant cars were beautiful. Good restaurant at the museum.

A cathedral of railway history. Wandering through this sprawling structure, I felt overcome by a spirit of deep reverence: for those towering leviathans of steel that helped create the modern world and transform the populace's conceptions of time, but also for the workers and engineers and even the politicians who helped make such a world possible. Even dormant, the old trains seem to possess an overwhelming and imposing force, feeling almost primordial in their grandeur and clean elegance of design while also signalling the birth of a different age, one of sophistication and glamour. They are harbingers of transformation, of an age that once seemed exhilarating and terrifying in its sheer dynamism, but one that we now look back upon nostalgically. Lingering in the darkness of what was once the old SNCF trainshed, they still seem almost alive, especially surrounded by a series of quite informative mini documentaries about railway travel throughout the last century and a half.

What an amazing museum! Such a large collection of trains, locomotives and carriages. There is also info available in English, but all of the interactive stuff is in French. My two year old was a little afraid of the first room (dark, noises and big trains), but he enjoyed it a lot in the end. He still talks about it a week later.

It's a lovely place to visit, there are a lot of trains to see with a good mix of epocs, there are also lots of little bits and pieces dotted around. It is too much biased towards French speaking, not much information for tourists, which is perhaps a little like a dropped ball as the exhibits are made in France, Germany, UK and America! A special mention should be made for the kitchen, the team are doing some really good food, not like a typical museum but like a restaurant, worth going just for lunch. The lady at reception was very welcoming, had a big smile and was knowledgeable, she spoke English, maybe German too.

Great day out for all science lovers and has a brilliant café too. It can also be purchased in conjunction with a ticket for the Electropolis museum which is well worth a visit. It is important to offer for a day as a thorough look round can take up to 6 or so hours!

Wonderful museum for these engineering marvels. Lots of different locomotives and coaches to see with interesting info for those who appreciate the workings of trains. Only a pity that a considerable amount of the info was only provided in french. A guide was inside, answering questions and providing us with an enthousiastic explanation on steam locomotives! If you want to really take your time visiting this museum, reading some of the info, count on spending around 4-5 hours, time flies here.
A must see if you like trains!

This place is a cathedral dedicated to the railway. A thorough exploration of the exhibition halls took me three hours. Special mention must go to the museum staff: the enthusiastic young man on the front desk gave me an overview, whilst the young lady in the restaurant was delightful and most helpful. Both spoke fluent English, which I appreciated - they were great ambassadors. I highly recommend this destination as an exceptional place to spend half a day!

Our kids simply love it! Cool installations with audio where they exhibit real life conversations in trains in historic hall, then there's also a part for showing the trains outside and finally a hall with modern trains. So all about French trains and beyond.
A tip: if you plan to visit several museums in the area, a museum pass can pay off especially if you have 2 or more kids, because one pass can take up to 5 kids with it

Amazon place, with an exceptional collection of trains, both ancient and new. Wonderful whether one is interested in history (trains are tightly linked to French and European history, but also to relationships with the US), in trains technology (a lot of details provided), in seing beautiful omthings from the past and of today. Spending 2 hours or the full day is possible: in any case, a marvel!
There is also a "model making" section.
Plenty of things to do with kids, in particular a comprehensive tour in a small train inside the whole exhibition.
Lac de Gérardmer, a picturesque 1.2-square-kilometer glacial lake nestled amidst mountains, offers a range of activities for visitors. From fishing and swimming to boating and winter ice skating, there's something for everyone. Families can enjoy picnics by the clean and blue waters or rent pedal boats for leisurely exploration. The surrounding area features shady spots with picnic tables, a nearby playground suitable for all ages, and even a casino for entertainment.
Beautiful place to watch the sunset. Nearby is a nice playground that is suitable not only for big kids but also for toddlers.

Small but nice lake, enough to spend couple of days of vacation here. Can rent the pedal boat to have a short look around (1 hour 16€). Or just walk on it's perimeter, won't take longer than few hours. Camp is there too, also you can find a casino and cozy tables with benches for a picnic. The lake itself is quite clean, allowed to fish and swim.

Was a great afternoon out. The exhibitions were interesting in the main building, and the gardens were stunning! WARNING! The exhibition in the other building is NOT for people who have a problem with heights! You're supposed to go in at the top and work your way down. I couldn't even tackle the ramp to the entrance without getting giddy! Insider tip...you can go in via the door on the ground floor. Well worth doing.

A very beautiful park and museum. The gardens are pretty large (although not humongeous, you won't need a full day to explore it all). Some places are currently being renovated. The only downside is that the entry is pretty expensive but it's not unexpected.

The Lion of Bartholdi, also known as the Lion of Belfort, is a monumental statue in Belfort, France. It commemorates the French resistance during the Franco-Prussian War and symbolizes courage and strength. The city of Belfort itself is known for its well-preserved ancient walls, a large university campus, and several museums. The lion statue sits atop the citadel and is a popular attraction for history enthusiasts.
This has always been one of my favorite local landmarks when visiting Belfort. This statue was designed by Architect and Sculptor, Frederic Bartholdi, same architect who designed the Statue of Liberty in New York City.
Mischa — Google review
The Belfort Lion stands as an awe-inspiring symbol of courage, resilience, and national pride. This monumental sculpture, located in Belfort, France, has not only captured the essence of its historical significance but has also become a testament to the power of art in commemorating pivotal moments in history. Erected in 1879, the Belfort Lion serves as a reminder of the city's valiant resistance during the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871.
Crafted by the gifted sculptor Frédéric Bartholdi, who is renowned for his iconic creation, the Statue of Liberty, the Belfort Lion exemplifies his extraordinary ability to infuse life and emotion into stone. This statue portrays a majestic and fierce lion atop a colossal rock, poised with a defiant stance that encapsulates the spirit of the people of Belfort. The symbolism is rich and multi-faceted, as it represents not only the city's unyielding resistance against the Prussian siege but also the broader theme of human determination in the face of adversity.
The craftsmanship and attention to detail in the Belfort Lion are remarkable. Bartholdi meticulously rendered the lion's powerful muscles, fierce expression, and intricate mane, breathing life into the sculpture. The choice of a lion as the central figure was not arbitrary – it signifies strength, bravery, and majesty, qualities that mirror the spirit of the people who defended Belfort during the war.
As a historical artifact, the Belfort Lion embodies the resilience and sacrifice of the city's inhabitants. The siege of Belfort was one of the longest and most grueling battles of the Franco-Prussian War, lasting for over 103 days. The lion's positioning atop the rock serves as a poignant reminder of the elevated position where it was strategically placed, watching over the city as its guardian. This symbolism serves as a lasting tribute to the brave soldiers and citizens who stood united against the Prussian forces.
Beyond its historical significance, the Belfort Lion has also become an iconic tourist attraction, drawing visitors from around the world to marvel at its grandeur and artistic magnificence. The statue's location on the Citadel of Belfort offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, adding to the overall experience of those who visit. The site has been meticulously maintained over the years, ensuring that future generations can continue to appreciate its beauty and historical importance.
In conclusion, the Belfort Lion stands as a monumental work of art that goes beyond its role as a commemorative sculpture. It is a testament to human resilience, valor, and the enduring power of art to encapsulate and convey the essence of significant historical events. With its remarkable craftsmanship, profound symbolism, and enduring legacy, the Belfort Lion continues to inspire and captivate individuals, paying homage to the indomitable spirit of the people it represents.

Beautiful place with A great view of Belfort and the mountains. I thought you gave to pay everything but that wasn’t true. You can just walk to the fort, go up, enjoy the view and walk anywhere nearby. Also in the summer it is a good place to get some sun, because there is plenty of grass where you can lay down and enjoy the sun and the view.

Interesting place in belfort. It is situated at the top of the belfort castle. It’s is made entirely of red sandstone and was finished in 1880. The rock lion is very big, which symbolizes the heroic french resistance during the seige of belfort. You can have a panoramic view of the entire city from the top of the belfort castle. Interesting thing about this lion is it’s sculpted by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi who is famously known for sculpting the Statue of Liberty. There is a museum inside the castle which has som antic coins and old monuments. The lion itself is very famous so you can find many small versions in the museum. The entire castle is very big so make sure to bring a bottle of water with you if you want to explore thoroughly. There is a nice restaurant in the castle which serves delicious food but I’m not sure if it’s open on all days. I visited this twice and the weather was quite good both times. The second time is visited this place there was a history festival going on based on world war 1 which was quite impressive. All in all a very interesting place with a rich historical background.

Well worth the visit. The Belfort Lion was a must see after having visited the Bartholdi museum in Colmar.
The Lion which stands 11 metres tall took Bartholdi 10 years to sculpt and commemorates the 103 day seige of Belfort where the 17,000 strong French resitence (one 3,500 soldiers) withstood the onslaught of 40,000 Prussians.
There is ample parking at 1 Avenue du Général Sarrail, 90000 Belfort, France (which we only discovered after we searched for ages for a parking spot).
Lovely cafes in town.

If you are in the area, visit. You can get fairly close for free, but to get really close you have to pay a 1 Euro museum fee.
The lion statue celebrates the local resistance to the Prussians during the Napoleonic period, an event that I knew nothing about.
The statue itself is interesting, made of smaller blocks instead of a large stone.
Saline Royale d'Arc-et-Senans is an 18th-century industrial site listed by UNESCO, offering cultural events, exhibitions, and artists' residencies. Visitors can learn about the historical significance of salt production and its impact on history. The site provides a tablet and VR animation in multiple languages for an immersive experience. While some visitors noted repetitive explanations and desired more insight into the tools used, others praised the high-quality exhibitions and visionary architecture.

Well, as the French say, 'boff...' La Saline Royale is impressive from an aerial view, but the earthly experience isn't amazing unless you're really, really into historical salt production.
The entrance fee is 14 euros (adult), which is too high for what is essentially a long walk in the hot Burgundy sun, surrounded by a semicircle of closed buildings. Around the perimeter, little garden spaces have been created; you can tell that they are making an effort to liven up the landscaping, but the gardens are overgrown (got stung by giant nettles growing into the pathways) and the plants are nothing exceptional.
The museum is a welcome cool break, but the exhibits are not well linked to the audio tablet.
Better to spend your time and money driving down the national road and enjoying the verdant Burgundy countryside.

Interesting place to visit, I learn a lot on how salt was made and the importance of it in history.
You visit the Saline Royale with a tablet and VR animation, it’s very well done and available in a dozen of languages and you wouldn’t understand a lot without it. The natation of the story could be improved a bit, there is a lot of repetition of the same explanation.
I would have love to be able to see more of the tool they used at least a smaller model. Everything is displayed on the tablet but it would be nice to have more real life things to see.
The part of the visit on Ledoux project was very interesting and I appreciate having more things to see in real and less on the tablet that just bring audio information.
Regarding the new garden, maybe it’s because it’s new and plants are not fully grown but it was not that interesting.

Also lots of information about the history of salt use and value, the changing use of the unique building, and UNESCO impact. My children (7 and 11) enjoyed the treasure hunt on the audio guide. When we were there a really stunning sensory art experience by Charles Belle was amazing and unexpected. Also the cafe is good with very special outdoor spaces to eat, created from natural willow. A lovely, stimulating and unusual place to be.

The Museum of Fine Arts Dijon, located in the former palace of the Dukes of Burgundy, contains major collections of western art from the 14th-19th century. After a nine-year renovation, the museum has become a work of art itself and is one of France's most outstanding museums. The Salle des Gardes is a notable exhibit featuring ornately carved sepulchres from late medieval times.

The Dukes of Bourgondy took the belfrey clock of Kortrijk and placed it on the Notre Dame at Dijon in order for the 'Jaquemart' to strike each hour of the day. But it wouldnt be the only artifact that the Dukes would take from Flanders. As the power of the Dukes rose, so as well did the cultural richness as they ordered several most reknown artist of the time to excell on their artwork. Although the French revolution destroyed the church where the richness of the Dukes was ment to survive the ages, the tombs survived so we can still witness how Klaus Sluter sculpted the 'plearants' in order to grieve for the Duke and his whife. But there is much more to see than only the medieval art. Certaibly wirthwhile the visit.

Superb museum in a historical setting (palace of Burgundian dukes). What can be better? Well, it’s also free (permanent exhibition). The museum is not too big, so your mind can digest it and the collection is really stunning- starting from Middle Ages right to the XX centuries modernism. Amazing to see all those emotions portrayed by the artists- fear, hate, love, compassion. All this go through centuries of art. Sometimes you can feel yourself in the middle of the battle or a tragic mythological scene. I truly enjoyed this museum.

The entrance is on the side of the large building that was once the Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy. The collection spans a long period and is not so special. Sometimes you see an item that stands out but most of it you just pass.
What is impressive are the tombs of the Dukes of Burgundy which are best seen from a balcony above.

It is free to enter and being a non French speaker, unlike my wife, I found the English translation at the foot of most labels really helpful. The descriptions and explanations are written in a friendly and informative manner that make you eager to learn more.
My favourite discovery was about the 'mourners', a fascinating set of sculptures that accompany the tombs of Philip the bold and John the fearless. I was therefore excited to find miniatures of the mourners in the excellent gift shop, one of which now adorns my shelf at home. I can thoroughly recommend this as a must see venue.

Amazing museum in an amazing city. The museum is objectively small, only three floors, but what a chic and amazing exposition. I'm not talking about the fact that the entrance is free. This is absolutely and very important for all visitors, especially for those who go with the whole family and who want to join the works of art. And of course many thanks for this to the city. Where I was, I have not seen this anywhere else, it is unique, many thanks to the city for this ones more. Exposition from ancient times to the present day, very good logistics of rooms, very good arrangement of paintings, spacious halls - all this in general is conducive to a calm viewing of the collection.
100% recommendation!

Fine combination between zoo swimming paradise and amusement park, ideal for families with not too big children (+/-12 years). You have water slides for the slightly older children and for the smallest a water paradise where jets of water spray everywhere. In the zoo you have different animals including monkeys, giraffes, elephants, hippos, zebras, birds, reptiles, ... The attractions are aimed at children from small to about 12 years old. You can join the attractions as an adult.

Really nice zoo, lots of animals; white Tigre, lions, elephant, camel, turtle, goats, monkeys, snakes etc. And a few attractions like a train, monorail, Carrousel, water ride. Also a small waterpark with three slides. Also a museum.
