Mikhaylovskoye Museum Reserve A. Pushkin is a restored family estate of the renowned Russian poet, Alexander Pushkin, located near Pushkinskie Gory in Russia. The estate encompasses a 20-hectare park with servants' quarters, orchards, cute bridges and a wooden windmill which has been rebuilt after being destroyed in WWII. The museum showcases manuscripts, letters and portraits of the beloved poet and his family.
Out of the three manors I loved this one the most! I can't even express how wonderful it was to have a walk there. It's like being in one of the Russian fairy tales. As soon as you see the place you realize where Pushkin got his inspiration from. Make sure to visit the place when it's warm and sunny and don't forget to bring some mosquito spray with you.

(Translated by Google) Located in a beautiful location, wonderful view of the city. A beautiful place for a walk.
The modern appearance of the monastery is a complex of buildings surrounded by an old stone fence. You can get inside through one of two gates: Pyatnitsky, near which stood the now destroyed church of the same name, and Anastasyevsky, near which there was a chapel of the same name (also no longer existing). Now you can see a small stone gatekeeper. Near the Pyatnitsky (or Holy) Gate there is the house of the governor of the early 20th century. Another gate named after the lost church today, Nikolsky, connects the holy and trading courtyards of the monastery.
The main attractions of the monastery are the Assumption Cathedral and the Hannibal-Pushkin family tomb. In the aisle of the first, a coffin with Pushkin’s body was placed on the eve of the funeral service.
The name of A. S. Pushkin, who lived in Mikhailovskoye, is closely connected with the monastery, which he often visited. While working on Boris Godunov, the poet spent a lot of time in the monastery archives, studying ancient chronicles and historical works in order to make his drama as authentic as possible. In addition, the monastery hosted fairs that were famous throughout the area, where the poet also often visited in search of types.

Pskov Krom is a medieval fortress, built in the 16th century, characterized by two towering structures and mighty walls. This old white cremlin houses an ancient church with what is believed to be the highest iconostas in Eurasia, dating back over 500 years. Visitors can climb the walls for a breathtaking view of the monastery and city along the river.

Historically this was a very important place, today is very well keep and the orthodox church is beautiful
The Svyato-Troitskiy Kafedral'nyy Sobor is a stunning example of 17th-century Orthodox architecture, featuring an ornately decorated interior and a golden dome that can be seen from miles away. Consecrated in 1699, it is the fourth iteration of a church that has stood on the site since the early 11th century. The cathedral contains a large collection of jewelled icons depicting the Madonna.
Path to church is an experience. We had a chance to travel with a tour guide. Makes the experience even more fulfilling. Definitely recommend to experience with a guide but do your own reading or research and ask lot of questions.

(Translated by Google) The cathedral was built in 1699. As the guide said, it has one of the largest iconostases in Russia. I think there are 7 rows. There is such a big one in Ryazan and somewhere else. The iconostasis was carried out by icon painters of the Moscow Armory Chamber. The cathedral contains an icon dedicated to the defense of Pskov from the troops of Stefan Batory in 1581. The famous icon, which was returned to us by the Germans in 2001.
Supports are attached around the temple building to stabilize the temple. They promise to close for restoration.

This is the place if you like abstract art, if not dont even waste your time and money. The art gallery is very modern and the location in historic old building adds more charm. For me the only dissapointment was that there is only 6 Rothko paintings out of 800+ total paintings. But i get it, if your paintings cost millions then make more sense that art galleries in London, Paris, NY has more of them.

The weather during my visit left me no choice and I had to go to the museum. Locals suggested Rotko museum. I did not expect anything great, or rather anything at all.
Well, I was wrong.Instead of being disappointed I was impressed and wowed. I spent almost 3 hours in the museum and my jaw literally dropped every time I entered a new room.
This art museum is not for everyone. If you are looking for something traditional, don't go there. Rotko was an expressionist and his works may be quite difficult to comprehend. I found them amazing because I got his conseption and the idea. He said: "A painting is not about experience; it is experience." This quotation says pretty much everything you need to demolish your mind barriers.
So if you are open to dive into a different kind of reality, go beyound your conscioussnes and lose a track of time for a while, definitely visit the museum.
Location - not far from the centre. You can come here by car, by bus or even on foot.
The entrance fee is 10€.

Beatiful and historic place. Has remainings of the Fortress and some other old buildings. Nice walk around, although why only 4 stars. Despite having a museum of art, medicine, and war, it feels like it hasn't been used to its full potential. Some work needs to be done on some of the old buildings which are in ruins, which could be used for other cultural or entertaining purposes. Ofcourse it might also be a slight mood killer that it has local residents sharing the routes and part of the grounds of the Fortress. Nevertheless worth your visitx entry into the inside of the fortnerr is free, you can just come in. Hope to see see some potential future development!

This is a very interesting place and a must visit if you are visiting Daugavpils. But be prepared to see not only historical buildings but also old and destroyed buildings that need in the best way to put it serious renovation. "Daugavpils Fortress, also known as Dinaburg Fortress or Dvinsk Fortress, is an early 19th century fortress in Daugavpils, Latvia. It is the only early 19th century military fortification of its kind in Northern Europe that has been preserved without significant alterations. The construction of the fortress began in 1810 by decree of Tsar Alexander I of Russia, in the atmosphere of increased tension before Napoleon's invasion of the Russian Empire in 1812. Construction of the fortress, due to Napoleon's invasion, lengthy delays, serious floodings and slow construction work, was fully completed only in 1878."

Great outdoor place, especially in fall. Yes, it's true - the walking path through the trees are not long. But the view openning from the tower is enjoyable.
I recommend this place as part of trip to Anykščiai.
The start there where the Puntukas Stone is located. That by itself is the 2nd largest in Lithuania.

The trail itself is great, even if you go several times - you see something new every time. the staff had a language barrier - they didn't speak English, so it was very difficult to understand each other. there were no indications as to where the entrance really is. 4eur for adults, 2eur for students, children and seniors

Nice path on top of the trees. It is about 300 m long and in the end there is a watching tower.

Beautiful and well maintained structure in nature. The views are amazing and you find yourself in the middle of the Anyksciai Pinewood area. 4EUR admission for adults. Toilets and shops present. Beautiful English poems on the information boards.

It was a unique experience to walk over the forest, very attractive views from inside the tower above the bridge, the natural beauty of the area and the bridge built there. I recommend for those who like to walk in the nature, I recommend to visit the place in summer and autumn.

The view is amazing. The forest is old and beautiful by itself. Liked the feeling when the path was swinging (a bit scary). Totally recommend. In my opinion the best place around Anykščiai. Price - 4 EUR for adults.

Nice place to have a walk on a tree tops. Beautiful views. When it is windy, the path is swaying a bit, so it is a very strange feeling. Organized environment, parking. Hiking paths arround.
P.s. entrance price - 4eur for adults
The bohemian district of Užupis in Vilnius, Lithuania is adorned with street art such as murals and sculptures like a bronze angel and a riverbank mermaid. It also boasts the tongue-in-cheek constitution of the self-proclaimed “Republic of Užupis,” displayed on wall plaques. The area contains artists' studios, designer boutiques, cafes offering local and international cuisine, and the old Bernardine Cemetery where many notable locals are buried.
The history museum Gediminas Castle Tower in Vilnius tells the story of the city from its settlement by Grand Duke Gediminas in the 15th century to present day. The tower, which is one of Vilnius' oldest and most popular tourist attractions, offers a 360-degree panorama of the city and exhibits objects related to Lithuania's history.
What an amazing piece of history to have been able to visit. It's quite the walk heading up there so have your walking shoes on. Breathtaking views on the observation deck on top of the Castle. You have to check this place out if you ever visit Vilnius.

Great tower and once part of a very large fortified defence system that covered the entire beautiful old town of Vilnius. Stunning views from the tower and there is a half decent museum inside. €6 entry fees.

What is worth most about the tower is the panoramic view of the city. Best times are early in the morning or at sunset. Pay particular attention to the operating hours of the cable car because otherwise the ascent is by stairs (as I did).
panagiotis dimitrakopoulos — Google review
Interesting looking building. I would recommend paying to visit the tower. There is a lot of modern history here covering the struggles and efforts made by Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia in their cause to become autonomous. Lots of pictures and information available.
The view from the tower overlooking the centre is nice although in my view you can get an even better view from The Three Crosses Monument.
I would definitely put the castle in my top list of things to do in Vilnius.

We were on a snowy day of minus 8 degrees. Getting up in such a cold is not physically simple - certainly for a person living in a hot country. Reaching the top reveals an amazing view of the entire painted city. We decided not to enter the museum and the cable car did not work either.
Alonit Ronen — Google review
One of the must visit landmarks in the city.
It has a small exhibit that is worth having a quick look around but the main attraction is the tower itself.
The views from the top are of the entire Old Town and some of the rest of Vilnius and these are unrivaled.
There is a hillside train to assist people getting to the top of the hill if walking isn't possible but the only way to access the tower is stairs.
Connor Butler — Google review
Easy hike up. You can take the stairs or pay 1€ each way up and down for a total of 2€ using the tram. Great views of the city Vilnius. Also has a museum you can enter i believe but you may have to pay i could t read the sign and honestly didn’t even bother translating.
Johnny Ruelas — Google review
The calling card of Vilnius) The 48-meter high tower provides an outstanding view of the capital city. You can get there on foot or take a cable car. There are some historical exhibitions inside the tower but the most important thing is that you can make unforgettable photos.
Iryna Panina — Google review
Couldn't get up to the castle because the funicular (cable car) was out and the long, winding path too icy. The museum was worth a visit. Good historical look at Vilnius.
David Miller — Google review
Small, but great views around it.
You don't need to pay anything to get to the hill itself, however if you want to see the tower it's an extra charge.
The tower itself has some historical material worth exploring. There are actually two stairs, and one leads to the terrace on the top.
Overall it may be quite small. Also no restrooms in the building as far as I could tell.

Must see place in Vilnius.
Fabulous view of the old Town.
You can pay for the lift to get you to the top and walk back down.
Farokh Shahabi — Google review
Lovely place, I went up with the lift (up-down €2,-) I didn’t have to wait and I was up there in 5 minutes. The view up there was lovely and Vilnius looked like a winter wonderland. Come here if you’re visiting the city.
Lisa Schultz — Google review
Impressive view of the city, the ticket to enter the tower costs 8€ and includes some exhibitions about Lithuanian history. I went walking but there is also an elevator. I would really recommend to go up, views are impressive.
Dani Moti — Google review
Nice castle to visit in Vilnius. It offers a great view of the city from the top. Stairs are a bit steep, but just watch your step. There’s also an elevator to reach the top
Davide Rossetto — Google review
All that's left from the castle is one tower and some ruins. You can climb the tower or use an elevator, entrance is paid.
To get to the hill you can use a ferry ride for 1 € per person/ride. Or you can climb pretty steep hill and stairs to get on top. Not recommended for people with movement problem/bad knees etc. - use furnicular instead.
However, you can get really nice view of the town from here. One of the best. I would say.
Patrycja Sedláček — Google review
It’s not quite clear where exactly the entrance is, but once you walk around the perimeter, you’ll see the signs for walking up or taking the funicular. The views are wonderful, and it’s nice that paying to go up the tower is optional, so you can enjoy the top without having to pay for access. This is a must if you want to get a great view of both sides of the city of Vilnius.
Felipe Latorre — Google review
Really incredible views of the city. Lovely on a clear day. The museum / tower is €6+ to enter. But worth it if you can manage to climb to the top of the tower. It is very steep. There is also a funicular that take you up and down the hill if you are unable to walk up and down. This is €1 each way.
Louise West — Google review
I had the privilege of getting to the top of this tower and seeing the entire old town in Vilnius, and this is a beautiful historic castle tower that was constructed in the 1400s. It felt like I was traveling back in time and the staff here were friendly and informative when asked them questions. Anyone traveling to Vilnius for the first time must come and check this place out. 5 Stars!!
Mark M. — Google review
If you go to Vilnius, this is obviously the one place you should visit. Access to the mount is free. The views across the city from the top are fantastic and the whole site is interesting. Within the tower there are a few exhibits, though they could fit a lot more in, considering they charge for entry. You can either walk up or take the funicular up.
The walk on the side coming from the river is quite steep, with stairs at the top of the path. There is a much easier walk from the main square. I would certainly recommend a visit, just for the views.
Andy Smith — Google review
One of the must visit places in Vilnius. I am not sure if this is the highest point in the city or not, but from here the panoramic view of the entire Vilnius city is some which no one should miss.
Two options to reach the top, via Vertical lift or by walk. We choose to climb up by walk, and the path is well demarcated and maintained. No tickets apart from the tower, it was closed when we visited.

The Church of Saint Anne is a stunning gothic church located in the heart of old Vilnius, one of Lithuania's UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Constructed from thirty-three different types of clay bricks, the red hue of the church can be attributed to this unique attribute. Today, The Church of Saint Anne is grouped with neighboring Saints Francis and Bernardine Church, with tourist routes going through both.
A 520-year-old Gothic church, built of red bricks. Outside there is a small tipi tent with wooden beams that warm the tent and the atmosphere. The church is functional and has a partner activity, in addition you can enter and be impressed by it. Highly recommended

We had the chance to visit this place when we did a walking tour of Lithuania downtown centre. I’ve learned from our Tour guide that St. Anne's Church in Vilnius, Lithuania is a stunning Gothic masterpiece known for its intricate brickwork and elegant architecture. Built in the 15th century, it is a symbol of the city's rich history and a must-visit attraction for its beauty and cultural significance.

This was far & away the most beautiful landmark I came across during my time in Vilnius. Even after seeing about a bazillion European cathedrals/ churches/ chapels, etc…this one stands out.
They apparently used 33 different varieties of bricks (colors, textures, shapes & sizes) to create a sort of “flaming” facade. Come near sunset on a clear day, & be rewarded with a true sight to behold.

Unbelievably atmospheric and beautiful. The gothic architecture is very beautiful and unique. The church is very well kept and is a must see if you’re passing by!

According to a well-known legend, Emperor Napoleon, after seeing the church during the Franco-Russian War in 1812, expressed a wish to carry the church home with him to Paris 'in the palm of his hand' you can understand why this was said about this church. The church has detailed sculpting and made with red brick it’s quite remarkable. Inside the church as well maintained and they haven’t tried to do many renovations so the original paintings seems to be in view and has a very gothic architecture to it. It also has a large pipe organ as well. A church not to be missed if you are in Vilnius. Highly recommend

Beautiful, gothic style church. Built in/around the 1500’s, this church is both impressive and one of a kind. If you visit, be sure to really admire both the inside and outside as it’s all really impressive and deserves the attention.

One of the most beautiful church in Vilnius for me) This church is one of the most pre-eminent examples, and probably the most unified example, of the Gothic in Vilnius. On the other hand, its architectural style combines elements of Baroque inside and Neo-Gothic (a bell tower). This mix of styles makes the building magnificent inside and out. The church is absolutely fantastic! Moreover, St.Anne's Church is taken in the UNESCO heritage list. My recommendation!

The Vilnius Cathedral, located in the heart of the old town, is a beautiful and important Roman Catholic cathedral. It features a chapel that honors Lithuania's patron saint, St. Casimir, as well as its catacombs which are popular for guided tours. The interior is relatively unadorned due to the many years of Soviet rule when decorations were stripped and it was used for various other purposes unrelated to worship.
The Cathedral Basilica of St Stanislaus and St Ladislaus of Vilnius is the main Roman Catholic Cathedral of Lithuania.

This time we visited the crypts of Vilnius Cathedral. And it must be said that when you think you know a lot about this building, it can only mean one thing - you haven't been under it yet. Although today's Cathedral was only built in the 19th century, its crypts may date back as far as the 15th century, or even earlier. If you want to find out which of the buried rulers of Lithuania have already been found and which have not yet, if you want to experience the feeling of cozy claustrophobia and hear the story of the Romeo and Juliet of the Lithuanian manor - the crypts of the Cathedral are just right for that.

Vilnius Cathedral is a captivating architectural marvel, boasting impressive neoclassical design and historical significance. The grandeur of its facade and intricate interior detailing make it a must-visit cultural landmark. The serene atmosphere inside, coupled with the religious artifacts and artwork, adds to the overall experience. The vibrant and well-preserved Senamiestis in Vilnius is known for its historical structures, including baroque and Gothic churches as well as the neoclassical Town Hall. The medieval Gediminas Castle Tower provides a panoramic view of the city while Vilnius University dates back to the 16th century. The Museum of Occupations and Freedom Fights in Vilnius, Lithuania is a very sad but important museum that tells the story of Lithuania's occupation by the Soviet Union and the resistance movements against it. Very interesting museum. The most thrilling and atmosphere part is basement where prisoners were kept. One of the most interesting aspects is that there are a lot of similar places still functioning in Belarus or Russia, so if you want to know what political prisoners have to deal with in those countries - just visit this museum. Also very interesting exhibition is located on 2nd floor where you can see the equipment that KGB used. Lots of devices like metal detectors and surveillance equipment.

Title: A Fascinating Journey into History at the KGB Museum in Vilnius
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I recently had the opportunity to visit the KGB Museum in Vilnius, and it was a truly enlightening experience. The museum provides a glimpse into the dark past of Soviet occupation and the atrocities committed during that era.
The most captivating aspect of the museum was undoubtedly the basement, where the cells, torture rooms, and execution chambers were located. Exploring this area was a chilling and thought-provoking experience, as it offered a stark reminder of the harsh realities faced by individuals during that period. The museum has done an excellent job in preserving and presenting this part of history, allowing visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the struggles endured by those affected. The basement section deserves special recognition for its authenticity and the emotions it evokes.
The exhibits throughout the museum are informative and well-curated, providing a comprehensive overview of the KGB's operations and the impact it had on Lithuania. The artifacts and photographs on display serve as powerful reminders of the oppression faced by the people and the resilience they demonstrated in the face of adversity. The museum effectively presents historical information, and the audio guides are a valuable resource that enhance the overall experience.
The staff at the KGB Museum were knowledgeable and approachable, willing to answer questions and provide additional insights. Their passion for preserving history and educating visitors was evident, and they contributed to making the visit informative and engaging.
One aspect that could be improved upon is the layout of the museum. At times, the flow of the exhibits felt a bit disjointed, and it was challenging to navigate through the different sections. Some additional signage or a clearer pathway would be beneficial in ensuring a smoother visitor experience.
It is important to note that visiting the KGB Museum can be emotionally intense, as it exposes the harsh realities of the past. Sensitivity and respect for the subject matter are crucial when exploring the exhibits, as they depict the suffering and trauma endured by many.
In conclusion, the KGB Museum in Vilnius offers an eye-opening and immersive journey into Lithuania's history during the Soviet occupation. The basement section, with its cells, torture rooms, and execution chambers, stands out as the most compelling and thought-provoking part of the museum. The exhibits are informative, and the staff is knowledgeable and approachable. Although the layout could be improved, the museum effectively presents a significant chapter of history that should not be forgotten. I recommend visiting the KGB Museum for anyone interested in understanding the impact of the Soviet regime and paying tribute to the resilience of the Lithuanian people.

I learned so much about the atrocities committed under Soviet occupation to Lithuania. It’s a very text heavy museum to visit so be prepared to read a lot.
It’s very interesting and takes you through various stages of soviet occupation. Allow atleast an hour and half to take in everything. Some information outlines the deportations, the killings, mass graves and the resistance (freedom fighters). The downstairs KGB prison is a harrowing and solemn experience that you should definitely walk through. You can just feel the sense of torment and horror.
I was shocked to find cells that were padded and used for torture while others were filled with ice cold water in solitary confinement. There’s also an execution room. It’s a very interesting museum to visit and I recommend it 👍🏽👍🏽

Interesting and informative museum, for sure. Contains some very sad parts of Lithuanian history during Communist rule, can’t be denied. However, deep anti-Soviet bias that is shown by the museum’s lack or downplaying of the Lithuanian (White) partisans’ involvement in antisemitic actions during the Second World War. Not much, if anything, is said about how at the beginning of the war, the Lithuanian nationalists were more than happy in cooperating with N*zis against communists and Jews in hope of getting independence - which by the way they never got, as they became a vessel of N*zi germany and ended up exterminating almost completely the Lithuanian Jewish population. In conclusion, for a museum about genocide, the Holocaust in Lithuania is very much downplayed and not mentioned and instead Soviet crimes, which by no means should be undermined, are the only thing shown throughout the museum (except for a room dedicated to the Holocaust in the cells section of the museum). Again, for a museum about such topics, as freedom and genocide, such unashamed and proud bias is shameful and only serves nationalist propaganda goals.
I recommend a visit, just to see for yourself the bias.

The Museum opened shortly after Lithuania gained its independence from Soviet Russia in 1991. The KGB operated out of this building for nearly 50 years. The basement prison remains as it was found after their departure. Interrogations, confinement, torture, exercise yard, and executions were all conducted here and seen here. Exhibitions on the upper floors deal w the "pain & dramatic times in the history of Lithuania: the loss of independence, brutal reprisals at the hands of the Soviet regime, and the bitter fight for the reestablishment of independence." Unbelievable sad and revealing 😔.

Interesting museum that navigates the visitor through the Lithuanian rexent history during Soviet occupation. The most spectacular exhibit is apparently the KGB prison on the basement. Trakai Island Castle is a picturesque medieval fortress located on an island in a tranquil lake. It was constructed around 1400 to provide stronger defenses for Grand Duke Vytautas. The castle is characterized by coral-colored brick towers and serves as the home of the excellent Trakai History Museum, which displays various artifacts from past eras including chainmail, medieval weapons, embroidery and glassware. During summer months, the castle's courtyard becomes a magical stage for concerts and plays.

Trakai Castle, located in the middle of a lake, like in fairy tales, reachable via wooden bridges that connect it to the mainland. My luck was to see it in frozen mode .. Even more impressive. It is surrounded by a park where you can walk. The interior of the castle is also very interesting and I recommend a visit.

Absolutely stunning fairytale-esque castle, visited in March and walked the whole trail from the train station and back. Castle is very interesting with lots of exhibitions inside, well worth the entry fee. Highly recommend!

The exhibition inside the castle is not the informative. There is not much stuff of the castle preserved but the reconstruction still stay true to the old image. In wintertimes, it’s a very peaceful place. The souvenir shop is the cheapest among all the touristic place I’ve been to in Lithuania. Recommend shopping gifts here.

One of the best days in Lithuania. Very well preserved castle and also impressive museum. There's a lot things to do apart of castle like boating, swimming, flying, food is fantastic too.

It is a 12euro ticket per adult but I found it worth it. There were many well illustrated rooms showcasing bedrooms, chapels, weapons, religious relics and treasures. Really enjoyed our tour. The place also have very clean bathrooms.

Nice, mostly reconstructed castle with an interesting audioguide (€1.10 at the Android play store) located on an island, accessible over a bridge from the shores of the lake. The entrance fee of €12 per adult (as of August 2023) is worth being paid. The views are very nice, both on the castle from the shore and also from the castle. The walk around the castle walls is free.

Beautiful castle and well maintained.
There were lovely exhibits within the grounds and it was not too busy.
It was very difficult to travel there with a pram because of all the stairs and gravel but there is an accessible life so the venue is somewhat accessible but not fully.

Trakai Castle, located in Lithuania on an island within Lake Galvė, is a stunning medieval fortress with a red-brick exterior and Gothic architecture. It's a historical gem that offers a glimpse into Lithuania's past through its museum displays. Accessible by boat and bridge, the castle is an enchanting destination that combines scenic beauty with rich cultural heritage, making it a captivating site for history buffs and tourists.

Very great place to visit when the weather is nice. The area overall is very nice and the castle itself has a very rich history which is enjoyable to look at and experience. Certain things were repetitive, but in general we spent around 2 (maybe more hours) just walking around. I think it's definitely worth a sunday getaway.

The castle is really neat but it was the priciest castle I visited throughout all 3 Baltic countries. 12€ for adults and it was also a lot of random artifacts that did not pertain to the castle itself. Still cool though.

Some of the areas and rooms are not accesible anymore (I visited it few years ago) and it's probably because of too many tourists like other tourist places but overall its still a beautiful restored castle and I recommend to visit it. Most exhibitions and the history of items or places are explained in Lithuanian and English, few more are also in Polish and Russian languages. There's also a lake around the castle and a lot of restaurants and souvenir shops

Beautiful castle, picturesquely located on a lake. Many different exhibitions about it's history. Lovely view of the interior. Really good souvenir shop that is not to be missed. Overall it's definitely worth visiting as a day trip from Vilnius.

A very well preserved castle that is worth visiting. It gives you a good feel of the past and teaches a bit of history. I like how they organised it so that you go from one room to another and get to see everything without wandering around back and forth. There are also some hidden surprises 😉

Cute little castle on an island in Trakai outside of Vilnius. We went on a Sunday and it was remarkably quiet and peaceful.
You cross a bridge over the lake to get to the castle island. You can then either pay for a ticket to see the castle or you can simply walk around the perimeter of the castle. We were short on time so we opted for the latter. We walked around the outside and didn’t see a single person in the middle of the day on a weekend.
We also got to enter the main castle gate and have a look at the courtyard without paying for a ticket.

This is a lovely castle and certainly worth a visit if you are staying in Vilnius or surrounding area. It makes a great day out. There is ample parking in the town and the castle is an easy walk. All the usual tourist souvenir shops are on the way.
The castle is in excellent condition and has a large number of exhibits from around the area over the centuries. This are arranged in the rooms, mainly in the main keep. They cover different periods in the castle’s history.
You can walk all around the castle, both around the outside and within. You can even rent a boat and go right round the outside. Some of the views across the lake are really nice, though there is nothing that really stands out. The gift shop is really good and actually cheaper than many of the market stalls in the village. I would certainly recommend a visit.

Beautiful castle on an island to explore when visiting Vilnius. It's an easy 45 minutes away from the city center by car. The museum shares information about the history of the area with the castle as well as the restoration of what the castle looks like today. Probably the highlight of our trip to Vilnius.

Really nice place to visit, especially before Christmas to get into Christmas spirit. Get ready to walk a lot and keep warm. There are two places to get a hot drink, some chips and other warm snacks. Well looked after toilet facility. "Menulio takais" has lots of lights which were located all over the place. Although, the lights were a bit too static in most places, I missed more movement, maybe some more lasers shows, but overall experience was great, well recommended.

The best place I've ever visited in my life. It was so pure and earthy. There wasn't snow, instead it was sunny day. We visited this place to celebrate Užgavėnės (welcoming spring season). As you can se ein pictures, it's afolk tradition, wherein they say goodbye to winter and welcome the spring. Hoping that the flowers will bloom again 🌹🌞🌻.
Lithuanian people are very happy during this time. Many visitors visit this place.
The moment you enter this museum, it's a huge jungle. Go wherever you wanna go. Explore everything.
NOTE- entrance is strictly under surveillance. (During our time, police officers were there at the entry points).
Don't forget to try their "marinated broccoli and broccoli water". It's their fav. Also don't forget to try pancakes. They're very tasty.

Very large territory, allow the whole day. Great place to learn about the old Lithuanian ways of living, architecture and interior of the old villages. Lots of different things to see, a couple of small shops, a nice little coffee shop in the ‘town’ part of the museum.

This is a really good open air museum, you will be on a Journey through different time period of lithuania, while surounded by open nature.
You are free to roam around the park/museum at your own pace and enjoy the beautiful building from different eras of history.
all the historical gardens are kept nicely maintained, and if you visit during the day you can take a tea/snacks in the local shops there.
This museum if very dog friendly with lots of space for the dogs to feel free and take a break from the city.
Price wise its very cheap for the amount of things to see, we paid 2.6 euro per person, a 2€ fixed price for parking plus 0.5€ for 1h of parking.
parking is free from 21h (9pm) but close to visitors at 22h (10pm)
We visited at 19:00 (7pm) and the park was basically empty, this is why I would say it's an awesome place to take your dog, they will be able to rund free in the big fields since there's nothing else but open fields, be sure to keep the leash on or available at all time.
The museum also ofers sleeping areas that are available through booking.com, we didn't book it because of some change in planing, but from what we saw the sleeping areas (visitors can be outside all day) seem very nice, the exception is that you dont have private bathrooms nor a kitchen, wifi is also not available.
overall it was a very nice Museum, and I would call it a park.

Big are filled with rural buildings. Hint to visit that place is riding with bicycles or buy car ticket (30€) and drive throug. There are rural building complexes from different regions: Dzukija, Suvalkija, Zemaitija, Anykšciai and one town center. Dwelling-houses, stables, granaries etc. Windmills also. Good museum. Local museum workers help and explains when you have a questions.

It is a beautiful huge park and you definitely need a whole day to see the whole area but it is a really nice showcase of the buildings during previous times. The buildings were beautifully maintained and my favourite part was the gentleman doing the scarfs, aprons etc live in one of the buildings. I would recommend to bring your own food as we had the bad luck of being there when the cafe was closed. There are plenty of picnic area. I would recommend a bit more of interaction between the people sitting there instead of them (most of them but not all) just being on their phone and appearing unfriendly and unapproachable.

Amazing place to visit. If you are interested to travel back in time, then you must visit this museum. Good weather recommended for the best experience. Prepare to spend here about 4 hours at least. You can take some food and drinks with you and make a really great picnic here. This museum represents 4 main regions of Lithuania: Zemaitija, Aukstatija, Suvalkija, Dzukija. You'll see interior and exterior of houses which is common to each region. You'll see in this museum how rich people lived, how poor people lived, which tools they were using for work and household. Lots of interesting stuff. So if you tired of the city and would like to spend a day in the countryside this is a place to go. The ticket price is 8 EUR.

Stunning and very moving tribute to the 50,000 Jewish men, women and children murdered by the Nazis in 1941. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful but, in contrast, the 31 metre high monument is imposing and disturbing. As it should be.

The fort has been restored to some extent and tells the story of it's occupational history by both the aggressors in the world war and the red army during the invasion of Lithuania. The memorabilia is preserved of whatever remains were recovered after it's dark days in history...There is also a sculpture made of exposed concrete, very expressive and thought provoking..Visit there with about three hours at least to absorb the place, walk through the greens to reach the fort since one building is under renovation currently..Entry to the fort is charged at 6€ per adult, the sculpture and the grounds are free

The 2h guided tour is really great. Apart from learning a lot of details from the guides, you are also accessing internal parts of the fortification which are not accessible with the general ticket. The fortress itself is separated to two big sectors. The first smaller one, is related to the history of the fortress as it planned to be used. The second is related to the history of transforming the fortress to prison and all the related atrocities that happen during this period. For sure it worth visiting this place, but plan to spend a lot hours in this place. There was no kind of food sold here so you have to be full before arriving or you will starve.

Well worth the visit. Prison section of the museum is very interesting, the pre-war section not so much (not much to see, just reading a load of text on the walls). The organisation of the museum in general and English descriptions could do with some work, but overall a worthwhile experience.

Kaunas Castle is a calling card of the city) This castle is even older, but only a fourth of the original building remains. It was destroyed and rebuilt many times. After the Battle of Grunwald, Kaunas Castle lost its strategic military importance and was used as a residence.
Today the Castle is a must-see attraction for everyone who visit Kaunas. It looks well-kept but there's no interesting exhibitions inside. But still you can took a photo in front of the castle or have a nice walk in a picturesque place.

Only went to the outside of the castle and not the actual inside with museum. But I would still recommend just to see the outside and the surrounding park.
Since you have the Santakos park just right by and also the old city in close proximity.
You have very good views if you climb the castle stairs since you can go up there separately from the inside portion that's paid (3€ normal ticket and 1,5€ reduced)
If you're traveling by car you also have big paid parking very close.

(Translated by Google) Those who have been to normal zoos, at least the Moscow one, should not come here. Save 250 rubles per person. It seems that this zoo, which opened in 1927, has never evolved. Only large cats and bears have decent enclosures. And for some reason the latter were not there. Well, you can also see ungulates, although there is only one bison. The giraffe appears to have passed away. They never got elephants, although they were planning to do so 10 years ago. The birds are all plucked, the snakes have empty terrariums: the poor ones don’t even have a place to climb. There is an extremely unpleasant smell in the rooms. Maybe it’s better in summer, but we were almost in winter. I suspect another downside in the warmer months is a lot of people in a cramped area. Even our small Leningrad Zoo is twice as large. In general, a disorder. I read good reviews and was hopeful. This has nothing to do with modern zoos. If you just want to show your children the animals, go ahead, of course.

Miejsce warte zjechania z trasy. Aby nacieszyć się widokiem wystarczy chwilka, zresztą zbyt dużo nie ma co zwiedzać.

Wonderful. However, I'm not sure why there is a need to collect money from the visitors

Very quiet and lovely. It's well maintained and has several places to eat or just walk if you wish. The lakes are so pretty.

Super place, but many tourist now, everthing is by wonderfull lake, people call this place"jezioro ełckie"..
Red-brick, 1900 water tower in neo-Gothic style, with history displays, a cafe & views from the top.
Tickets are a bit expensive, but very nice views from top. Interesting stuff on every storey, old maps and coins. You can have a coffee and cake as well in cafe.

Lovely looking water tower and nicely renovated.
There are a number of floors which have been made into a museum each with some items of the past, it's a bit of a mishmash to be honest.
At the top there is a cafe with good views of the surrounding area.

Good place for a visit. Use the stairs and visit the small museum. The terrace and the view are worth to see and have a coffee there.

Nice view. Positively surprised by presence of lift. Nice expositions on each floor
Boyen Fortress, located in the Masurian Lake District, is a storied 19th-century fortress that played a significant role during World War I and II. Situated on an isthmus between Kisajno and Niegocin lakes, it was once home to 3,000 soldiers defending Gizycko. The fortress features impressive bastion architecture and offers several walking trails with information boards in Polish, English, and German.
Huge bastion in the Warmia-Mazurian region. Very interesting place.

A nice place to visit if you are in the area.
The price is very reasonable at 18 pln = £3.48 but unfortunately there is a lot of renovation work needed in the buildings as well as the grounds.
It's a shame the vandals get in and graffiti the place. When we were walking around the grounds there were some information signs in a number of languages including English.
The exhibitions in buildings 1,16,19 & 22 were okay, very disappointing though there was no translation to English, even a leaflet would of done.

Impressive fortress of bastion type, really big. The admission is decent, the longest walk is like 2-3 hours, depends how much interest do you wanna pay to exhibitions and buildings. Downsides: some paths are in bit rougher style of terrain, you go obviously up and down frequently. Exhibitions are not much. Lacking the concept, bits of that and that with little commentary on info tables. Especially the "gunpowder" one. Also it's heavily over grown with trees and bushes, so sheer size and magnificence of the fortress is drown and it resembles more city park than historical landmark.

Great place, however the museum expositions are very weak. During winter some of them are closed. This place has great potential, and it's placed in beautiful area... Hope it will change for better soon.

It's ok, but nothing spectacular. Don't expect much. The object isn't in the best condition.

This was an impromptu visit at the end of winter in Poland. Will come back in summer. Great place to explore and learn the rich history.
You probably need good 4 hours or so to do it. Take your time and explore.
Flyonthewall — Google review
Interesting historical site to visit. There's a detailed sign next to every building to explain the function of each place. There are 3 touristic routes to follow, all of them relatively easy to do. Some of the buildings are pretty much damaged and forgotten, while some others have a nice exhibit.
Val Mam — Google review
A huge waste of time. The fortress is a neglected group of old buildings with no common historical context provided. There are several parts and groups of differently themed exhibits but hardly any explanation as to what connected them. The map that you get at the entrance is a list of points of interest with minimal description. Definitely advise to keep away.
Janusz S. — Google review
Well preserved and some excellent restored buildings giving a history of defences against attacks on the Prussian state by Russia. Comfortable shoes necessary but beware little explanation available in English on the exhibits.

This fortress is amazing to walk through! It covers a huge area and the outer walls are still intact all the way around. It is perfect for catching a glimpse of medieval history. As far as I could tell the fortress doesn't have guided tours, but there are three clearly marked trails of different lengths and there are information boards in Polish, English, and German at every point of interest.

What a ruin. There is nothing to see the, it's all not maintained and there's nothing inside. That's why they put the ticket office immediately in the entrance so you don't see there is nothing there.
Look at my photos and see: it's just a ruin.
Avoid. There a lot of other things to do around.
Family-friendly water park with indoor or outdoor pools, slides & tubes, saunas & a snow grotto.
Perfect place to stay with kids. Large rooms, good food in a comfortable and huge eating area. Just too much draught at coming to the pool. The pool for the kids with the slides really great!

Water park is pretty worn out but it is still fun. Outdoor pools are cool during summer time. If outdoor pools were heated , hotel would have even better ratings.

All ok, inside we like everyting: saunas, pools, all was jus super. Price better than expeded, almost 3 hours for family cost 60 eur. just didnot like dushes: after pools to wash your self no privacy

4 saunas and several jacuzzi. I have been in April, probably during the season it is more crowded. It was quite expensive, 70 zl for 1.5 hours, time to change your clothes included. It means that you have 1 hour for 70 zloty, each additional 30 minutes 20 zl.

Nice waterpark, plenty pools, even for smallest, a lot of jacuzzis, friendly staff. Changing rooms small, hair dryers are working poorly.

Nice place to relax. One thing- tak zlotas - because they doesn’t accept cards. Also difficult- than very few personal speak English. And it is difficult to name as aqua park- 4 rides and that’s it. But has nice saunas + salt rooms where you could relax. I think it is more like spa centre eith fews rida and pools.
Jekaterina Francuzova — Google review
It could be much better organized. Lockers crowded and poorly signed. The pool area however is very large with loads of options for small kids. It was nice of them to reduce the volume of the deafening music right after I asked.

Absolutely beautiful hotel, an amazing location to visit and stay. Swimming pool is great for families with range of options for everyone.

Not high level at Water park, but its nice.Quite little water park, not so many activities what to do,but an optinion to spend time with family especially if you have little babies, toddlers. So pity that outside the buiding, next to swimming pool , there is a bar and you cant pay with your park clock, only Bank card. A big row waiting to enter to park and one worker.
Saulė Mėnulis — Google review
A bit old but still nice place for younger kids as activities mainly for kids up to 10 years old.
Kęstutis Mažeika — Google review
Quite entertaining price wise. Few nice slides. Quite a big choice of pools. Very interesting solution for kids with sandbox in pool area (might be frustrating for some ppl). Nice water playground for kids.
I assume Quite annoying with time limit of 1.5 hour, in which you should include showering and hair drying. So only 1 hour for pools and so, if you are with family, you have to consider short swimming and long drying and washing procedures. (There is some small add-on tho, at 1.39 we still didn't had to pay anything extra)
Parking is 5zl per hour at hotel/water park area.

Nice hotel and nice water park, not too crowded, great fun for the family. Also some outdoor pools, sand patches for smaller kids to play, etc... 1.5h was too short for us, almost made it in 2
