Excellent state of the art interpretation in centre in English and Danish. Well preserved heritage site. Lovely rural location, served well by public transport. Very friendly welcoming staff. Cafe and beautiful gift shop on site. My 2 boys aged 8 and 9 loved it. Would have been great if there was an English guided tour outside available.
Aisling Heffernan — Google review
I went to the site today (Monday). Supposedly there are displays in the visitor centre which is closed on Mondays. With seeing the artifacts, I found it hard to visualize the importance of this place in the Viking history. The site is large but has very little contents. The return train fare is 100 EUR. Admission is free for the visitor centre The only plus is the free, clean public washrooms on site.

Interesting historical monuments. Area was much larger than I thought it was, but was easy to explore.
Although the area is open for visitors 24/7, the museum is not. Plan accordingly.

Amazing reconstruction of the old viking wall. They add a white structure all around the city to show where it was before. They also reproduce an old painted stone that you can see all the beautiful color of it.

This area is SO well kept. The gardens around the church are pristine.
The church is clean and beautiful.
It's fun to be able to go up on the mounds and walk around everywhere.
The poles which show the palistrade are great for a visual marker of the size of the things you learn about.
Great area to wander around.

It’s really beautiful place. If we are interested in Viking Age than this place must be visited. It’s nice place place to hang with friends & families. People were so friendly. Near distance there is. Supermarket.

A beautiful and quiet place with an impressive view over the lands from the 2 hills on the sides of the monastery. I recommend visiting the runes with a guide (it was fun with the guide and especially his way of telling stories).

Hey everyone.... Viking city with a rich history... Nice and quiet place for a trip with the family....

One of the most interesting archeological site in Denmark, despite heavily reconstructed in order to give the pedagogical idea of what the old Norsemen people were. Beautiful museum with some artifacts. Minimal old church with no patina but holding such a quiet spirituality in it, worth a pause of meditation. Great restaurants in the neighborhood.
Lello Grieco — Google review
Unesco world heritage site. Accessible easily via train. Visited during the mornings of the weekday. Some information signs explaining the significance of the mounds. Some modern structures to show the past viking ship burial mound. Very peaceful experience. A musuem nearby for more details.

A must visit for all viking enthusiasts. Excellent museum, beautiful setting spectacular mounds of the burials of Gorm and Thyra. Layout of viking ship well displayed embracing the mounds and the post showing the position of the surrounding palisade.

An absolute highlight of our trip, and well worth the visit. The stones themselves, and the mounds around them, are rich with history, and are fascinating to observe and learn about. Walking along the promenade on a nice day is also a lovely and relaxing experience.
The historic site is accompanied by an award-winning interactive museum, which is FREE to enter. I can hardly believe such a great museum and historical site is all free entry. Don’t miss the rooftop terrace, with interactive binoculars that show what the area looked like through the ages.

Jelling Mounds, Runic Stones, and Church 🇩🇰⛪️
The Jelling burial mounds and one of the runic stones are striking examples of pagan Nordic culture, while the other runic stone and the church illustrate the Christianization of the Danish people towards the middle of the 10th century.
The atmosphere is really amazing, so you can take a nice tour around this beautiful place.
Everything reminds you of the Pegan ages when you walk around
Koldinghus, located in Kolding, is a historic castle that has been restored to serve as a cultural history museum. It boasts an impressive collection of Christian IV artifacts as well as gold and silverware. Although the castle's original fortress dates back to 1268, many of the structures seen today were built in the mid-15th century.
Nice experience even if I don’t know much about Danish history. The castle is very well highlighted with a modern renovation. It was a nice visit through different levels and you can even go on the top with a great city view. Currently there is an exhibition about the princess Mary and other members of the danish Crown. You can see there in particular some incredible royal jewels like the Ruby set.
Patricia Heisserer — Google review
Kolding Castle or Kolding hus is a Danish royal castle in the town of Kolding located in Denmark. This castle is a Historic beauty in Denmark which was found in the 13th century and has been expanded and has been through many wars and even caught on fire. The original king that lived in the castle was King Christoffer III and has been passed down by many generations. There isn't much interior design to it but very old fashioned, but the over all scale of the castle is immense enough to make someone hurl.
We really recommend that you visit Kolding Castle as it is a historical monument to Denmark and loved and enjoyed by many.
Deepal Senadheera — Google review
The Koldinghus offers a completely different kind of castle experience. The formerly demolished outer walls have been supplemented in a very modern way, so that something wonderful new has emerged. The exhibitions offer some history, some from local artists and the artistic handicrafts that the grateful people owe to their queen. The tower also offers the best view in town.
Der m?de Joe — Google review
Lovely castle and grounds, with some historical detail. Make sure to take a small bag with you if you want to carry your purse and mobile, as they make you put any large bags in the locker (which is reasonable, because of the gift shop). An area was closed off due to school children activities, and the restaurant sign/buffet hours was written only in Danish, which was a tad confusing.
Sunshine Pie — Google review
I was positively surprised by the exhibit and really enjoyed it.
The story and history of the castle was interesting and well presented.
But what really created a special experience was the current exhibit of the Royal Danish dinnerware with hand painted local plants and complete set of the Flora Danica dinnerware from the king's birthday dinner in 1808. The display was.beautiful and the craftsmanship is amazing.
The exhibit of the "Dannnebrog" royal ship inside the castle was interesting and impressive in it's design but still felt a little out of place and blocked the view of some of the fire restaurations which I would have preferred to see.
Marcel Fromhage — Google review
Very interesting story of the castle itself. The portrait paintings of Frederik V are amazing, pay attention to the first painting by the French artist and then his next painting. An astonishing difference, one looking very caricatural and the other like a photoshop of our modern times. Not to be missed the trial of clothes from the 16th /17th centuries, for free. The castle burn down in the 19th. Century , then rebuilt around 40 years ago. An incredible work of reconstruction. Look at the amazing wood work columns in the interior inspired by some gothic churches interiors.
Edson Bittencourt Imperico — Google review
The oldest castle in Kolding which was destroyed and repaired as well.Worth visiting once and also you can see the Kolding city from the roof top. So if this is something interests you then give it a try.
Ganesh Jain — Google review
Historic castle that has been rebuilt due to a fire. A lot of interesting exhibitions. Learned a lot about the royal yacht and the activities of the royal family. Has a cafe and play area for kids and also costumes for kids and adults to try. You can climb the tower for some panoramic aerial views of the city.
Anthony Chan — Google review
It is worth spending time here. The castle itself is beautiful and has a good looking renovation. The staff is friendly and willing to help. There are many sections to explore.
Naphat W. Isonikkilä — Google review
Top rating for this castle. Love the way it was done. Recovered from a burned out ruin without overdoing it. Different themes throughout keeping the interest. Spent two hours there and was sorry to have come so close to the closing time, well worth a longer visit
Nuno Pereira — Google review
Koldinghus has a remarkable and occasionally central place in Danish history. It is a shame that it burned down, but the restoration is remarkable, not in what it recreated (that wasn't the point) but how it displays the echoes of magnificence.
Including other individual exhibits of Danish royal heritage nicely rounds out the experience. Also, visit the small exhibit in the stable building too (I won't reveal here, but it's worth some time to see)
If you are in the region, it is a must see
Alexander Lofft — Google review
I went to Koldinghus for Christmas Market and oh it was lovely. Really huge building with lots of rooms and hidden stairs and chambers. It holds interesting exhibitons - history, royal clothing, royal tableware etc. Located uphill and provides nice view. Not far from city centre to walk. Parking available. Recommend buying the ticket online so don't have to wait in the queue.
Mari Kukerman — Google review
If one likes visiting historical places, this is a nice place to go. The new additions to the castle is actually really beautiful and eye-catching. There is also a nice collection of souvenirs to buy. However, as a first time visitor, I could not find much information about the history behind the castle until I accidentally ran into a big screen that explained the history of the castle. Only after that it got interesting. Otherwise, one would wonder why there is a mixture of modern and old architecture, and many other questions.
Legoland Billund Resort is a popular tourist attraction in Jutland, Denmark that offers fun rides and mind-blowing Lego models. The park features themed areas, miniature cities built from 20 million plastic Lego blocks and replicas of global icons including those from Star Wars movies. It has become one of Denmark's most visited tourist attractions outside Copenhagen due to its exciting family-friendly atmosphere.
Very good. I ordered a birthday package and my son was very happy. We stayed in Lego Hotel and the view directly to the park was very beautiful. The restaurant also good variety. We enjoyed a lot our visit :)

--- My situation ---
Family of 4, aged 12 - 40, bought an "Awesome season pass", went around 7 times in the span of 2 weeks.
--- General ---
In general the park is quite nice, it's a good size for a 1 day visit although on most days you won't be able to do everything that the park has to offer. Most attractions are fun around age of 12, but many are still fun when for older or younger people.
--- Other ratings ---
Food: 6/10 - There are a lot of food shops, the food itself is good but the prices are very high. One fish 'n chips cost us 120 DKK which is $16,70
Queues: 7/10 - The queues themselves are actually alright and well decorated, but the park is very often very busy. If you want to do the entire park i suggest you be there around 9:30 so you can already be in the queue before it opens up. I was usually able to do around 4 attractions within the first hour if I was fast.
Decoration: 7/10 - The decoration is good, although they can look dirty at times.
Toilets: 6/10 - The toilets themselves are alright but every toilet place looks old, is too small for the sometimes 20 people waiting (the lines do go outside of course). Doesn't look that clean but it's not problematic either.
Price: 4/10: The park has a quite hefty entrance fee, but things in the park can be sometimes outrageously expensive themselves too. Compared to other theme parks the prices are very high as I mentioned in the food rating.
--- Overall ---
Fun experience but very expensive, 7/10

I had a fun day. If you ask me, I would recommend spending two days at this park. It's possible to cover the majority of attractions in one day, but two days would make it perfect. Another piece of advice is to use the Reserve & Ride service. This makes the experience much more enjoyable.
Martynas Jurk?aitis — Google review
Very exciting cheering on when the gates open. Fast check in. Once inside soo much to see and do! Kids had an amazing time. Enjoyed the rides, movies , shows and creative play areas. Even just walking around admiring it all. Staff all super friendly. And the waiting for rides did not exceed 20 minutes.
S MC — Google review
Great experience to visit Legoland in winter. Maybe a little rainy day, but not crowded and no waiting for attractions. All rides are included when you buy a ticket. Kids enjoyed a Christmas holiday in Legoland ❤️ Only minus are prices inside, but you can expect something like that in every theme park.
Milka Majstorovic — Google review
It was really fun and you feel very nostalgic! Weird to say, but I was expecting more lego, it's more or less an amusement park with a lot of rides and playgrounds. But it was still really fun and the miniatures were amazing.
Anežka Krejčí — Google review
Super busy and queues long but then it is Easter holidays so to be expected. We'll run, clean, great rides for the kids. Brilliant day out.
Paul O'Brien — Google review
All the attention to detail makes this place great! Our kids loved every minute of it. There's something for everyone of all ages. I really appreciated all my kids (from ages 1-5) had something they could do to have fun. Most of the rides they could ride, or I could ride along with them. There was so much to explore and enjoy! As a visitor who only speaks English, I found it easy to get around, communicate, and know what I was doing.
Cory Fowler — Google review
It's kids paradise. Lots of great toys, setup for different parts of the world and activities around. It's really pricey so parents will have to think before coming. My advice is to pack lunch as the food options are mainly fast food. Overall love it.
Mihail Mitev — Google review
Would be a nice place, if the queues wouldn't take 60min each. In reality, after 8h in Legoland, we've managed to get on 6 attractions and have dinner. Brace Yourself for the longest standing time of your life. P.S. Make sure your kids are above 110cm, otherwise they'll miss out the best attractions.
Arain Ged — Google review
That was amazing experience for children and adults. We were visiting on 1st september and it wasn't overcrowded at all. We were able to try all the attractions. They are not too scary in general, but anyway there are options for all ages and taste.
Hanna — Google review
One of the best places for kids. We've stayed 2 days and it's enough for everything. From roller coasters, Lego park, Ninjago laser and many more fun activities. Highly recommended.
Marian Ghibu — Google review
Excellent LEGO theme park! Kids and adults both love it! To me the best is to try out all the rollercoasters! The Xtreme and the flying eagle are the best! The Dragon is by so scary. I love the haunted house too. Just too quick to finish. Smaller kids have many calm plays too. Wonderful vacation place to everyone!
Maomao Chen Larsson — Google review
An absolutely fantastic place! Loved every second here, you can't get bored here no matter if you're a kid or an adult. You have so many things to try and do, it's accessible for people with disabilities too. You reserve in advance and I think they just make some magic happen so everyone can enjoy the park!
You need 2 days to experience everything inside the park, and not hurry or just skip things due to lack of time.
If you arrive by car, you have to pay extra for parking, if you buy the tickets online, you can buy a ticket for the car too, and when you leave the parking lot, you just scan the ticket bar code and you're good to go.
You MUST try the Polar rollercoaster! It has a nice surprise in the middle of the ride 😁. And the coaster goes through a penguin enclosure. Yes, they do have real penguins in the park.
One thing to see is the rocket "launch". In the mini-world, up the hill, they have a miniature rocket and a Kennedy Space center from NASA. It has a full on show, and it's quite nice to witness.
Iulia Coman — Google review
Amazing theme park for kids and AFOL. We stayed in the newer Knight Castle Hotel. The room was so cool and with beautiful light box like a window above the bed. There is a kid’s bunk bed area with different light switch so kids can sleep earlier. The Lego gift shop is one of the largest Lego shop I have seen. Note that the Lego shop closes one hour after the park so go to the rides first. The miniature world has lots of details. You won’t be able to go on all rides and see everything in one day. We had a great time there.
Joe C — Google review
This is for sure a superb park, I think it's impossible to go on all rides or even most of them on a single day (I wonder why they choose to close at 5:00 p.m.), even if you have spent decent amount of money and have purchased ride reserve. The staff seems professional and very kind, I have noticed many toilets around the park, so that is convenient and a nice anecdote. The scenery of the park and the rides is marvelous. The only thing which was not good was the traffic jam on our way out of the parking lot, we got stuck there for a half an hour.
Gal Florsheim — Google review
A wonderful place to visit for both old and young alike. A great mix of things of to do, everything from simply enjoying the sights to water rides, to fast rides. Easy to do in one day and outside of the main vacation times not crowded and little to no wait for rides.
Jens Thomas — Google review
A must do experience!
Amazing place with big variety of games that are suitable for all ages. This very fun place is not for kids only, even adults will love their time there!
Definitely go for the annual pass
Majed El-Soukari — Google review
Went as a group of 4 adults, enjoyed seeing the park, bigger than I expected but food choices not so good, I know its a theme park but the most promising place for food was in polar land which was closed! The burger place seemed suspiciously like burger king...
Large parts of it seemed closed, not sure if its because its Christmas time or just in general lots of maintenance, kinda feel Tickets should be reflected to match what is actually open.
The atlantis 'ride' is easily one of the best bits and the mini lego town is brilliant. Maybe I would of enjoyed it more as a kid but it kept us all entertained and we honestly felt like it would be too much to see for just one day if everything was actually open
The cinema bit was a lot better than I expected!
Darren Stead — Google review
Such a nice experience, especially for young kids. I think from 3.5+ ,there are a bunch of things they can do already, we had a blast. The shops are on the expensive side, you often can get cheaper in other countries, but if you focus fun with the kids, you will enjoy it a lot!
Felipo Goncalves — Google review
We had a lot of fun. Clean and orderly but expensive. Some of the attractions feel a bit aged and overused. Staff is very friendly. Some advice for you:
- Bring your own food and drink. Everything inside is expensive. There are places where you can sit, eat and drink.
- It is Denmark so you never know when it will rain. Bring your raincoat.
- Wear comfy shoes. Place is big.
- If your child is shorter than 100cm, do not enter. Almost all rides require at least 100 cm height. Some require more.
- If you have a rolling cart or stroller you will have an easier time to haul your stuff around.
- Get your entry tickets online.
- Get your parking voucher online.
- In the lego store, ask for "Lego Passport". Nothing game changing just cool stuff 😄
- If you want to go out and get stuff from your car, ask for a stamp on your hand or you cannot get back inside.
Alperen Eğilmez — Google review
It's recommended to plan ahead, as navigation might get confusing once inside. The areas for older children are in a corner and could be easily missed if you're not careful. For true LEGO fans, visiting the Lego House is suggested. Legoland is more of a regular amusement park.
Per Hebi — Google review
One of the best experiences you can have. A large variety of attractions. We came as two adults, we were afraid that the place might be mainly for children, but I must admit that adults have more fun there than children!
Oliwia Flis — Google review
We visited Legoland before Christmas, and it was amazing. The staff was super friendly. The park has a lot of fun activities for people who have different ages. I totally recommend it to go, especially with kids. You can also have a birthday pin from the staff if it's your birthday.
Aquarium, trains, lego boat, and the duplo space for kids to play with Lego were great. Also, you can take a photo with Santa Claus Lego and decide if you 'll pay to print it or not. Also the staff asks if they can take a photo from your phone.
I just felt that the photographer was impatient, running to take the photos, and I didn't understand why, because there were just 5 people in the queue. And my photo wasn't great. Other girl from the staff took a photo from my phone and it was better. She was super friendly and patience.
The park is accessible for strollers and wheelchairs.
Karen Pedro — Google review
The place is amazing. Most of the things are for kids, but there are interesting things for grownups as well. It's a big park and there is plenty to see so book the day for it you will need 5 hours at least if you like to try the best stuff. There are lines for every activity, and you will wait 20-30 mins to enter.
Blagoja “Blasky” Mitrovski — Google review
Cool place to spend a couple of days with kids. Unfortunately the prices are so increased from 2021 that we did not buy any suvernirs, neither a photo, just too expencive 😞 Lego things are better to buy on line or also in thd shop in Hamburg. Moreover attractions close at 17 while park at 18, just to push you to the expensive shops...
The German U-boat, which was operational during World War II, serves as a historical and technical submarine museum. Despite its limited size, the museum is divided into various sections that provide visitors with an insight into the design of submarines and how their crew lived on board. It is a poignant reminder of the many lives lost during WWII. The submarine has been well-preserved but lacks adequate English translations to enhance visitor experience.
It’s an old submarine, that is open for a visit, as a museum. It’s not very big, but there are several sections. Its quite interesting to see how the submarine is designed, how people serve there, where they slept, ate, shower. Horrible to imagine, that in WW2 for many this kind of submarines became a grave.

I loved this Place - so cool to take a step back into History. So nice to see it preserved. Fun place to visit. The area is really beautiful. If you read book or watched a few U-Boot Movies most notable Das Boot. You can get a sense of how it must have been to live in one of these U-Boot. Especially under War times conditions. The where pretty sophisticated for the time - obviously U-Boots have come a long way since than. If you are in the area you should visit this Museum especially if you are a history buff. Also your visits helps in maintaining this Museum so others can enjoy it hopefully for many years to come. Worth a visit

Amazing place to visit and get an appreciation for what thousands of young German men had to endure. Make sure to visit the nearby German Navy memorial.

The submarine is well maintained and interesting in itself. However, there are no English translations. The submarine should have more informational notes, to explain what, how, and why.

Hello...2018...I visited U-995 with the idea of exploring the bowels of an old WWII sub...things were not so...being there made me think about life of those men...their fears and their joys...the machine and its mechanisms gave way to empathy with those warriors. I am grateful for having gone...I will always remember the cordiality of the employees of the memorial...the people of Laboe and from the Admiral Scheer hotel...today it is very expensive for me to return, but I don´t lose hope!! The war memorial is highly recommended. The vie from the top is breathtaking, you can see really far out into Schleswig-Holstein.
However the main attraction, the submarine itself was disappointing; they haven't really bothered with labels or information about the machinery. It was just a 1 minute walk through the submarine.

This German sub from 1942 is an absolute must to visit! You can easily visit it on the beach of Laboe, on the opposite harbour site of Kiel. Best to catch the direct ferry to go there, it's such a pleasure in fine weather. We previously visited the sowjet sub U434 in Hamburg. Even so the sowjet one was much bigger in size, more modern, build in 1976, it had a far more claustrophobic feeling. I know which one I'd rather be on 😁

Nice experience to walk through, see and imagine people living in it. Not very long and can be completed in an hour easily.

The boat is in great condition inside and out. Because of the way its propped up you can go under it and view it from angles you normally cant (like U-2540 in Bremerhaven which is still afloat).

Ribe Cathedral, a medieval Romanesque-style structure that dates back to at least 948, is the oldest cathedral in Denmark. It dominates the skyline of Ribe and boasts notable paintings and a museum. The cathedral was extensively rebuilt in 1150 during a time when Ribe was prosperous and this contributed to its impressive architecture. Visitors can appreciate the serene interior and learn about the historical significance of the bishops who were ordained there.
The Ribe Cathedral is quite beautiful. While visiting this old town, one of the oldest in Europe, this is a must see. There is no entrance fee, although I'm sure that donations are accepted. The inside is serene and there is a lot of historical information about the bishops that were ordained there. The stop would be quite worthwhile.

Beautiful chapel. Almost 1000 yrs old and still amazing. If you get a chance to enter, do it. It's also free.

Absolutely beautiful building. Every little detail from the rain gutters to the door handles are just exquisite. A true testimony of an era where craftsmen took pride in their work. The view from the tower is amazing.

Attended Christmas Eve service and actually enjoyed it. The sermon was relatable. Only thing to be aware of is that’s quite cool in there, so wear something warm. An absolute must-see when in Ribe.

Very nice historic church. If you're into history or very old architecture then I'd encourage a visit. The area of the town the church is at is also very charming.

Awesome cathedral, beautiful and still very well intact. Mid-week it’s basically empty so you can enjoy the full beauty without any other people! 😊

Good tourist attractions. One of the oldest village, heritage houses and church in Denmark. Cozy market place and restaurants nearby with live music if lucky. Enjoy your stay. Cheers!

Old cathedral with a lot of history inside. It has more flashy things inside than a normal traditional Danish Church, but it's a real beauty to walk inside. It's free to enter, but you have the option to go to the bell tower for a small fee.

Ribe is the oldest city in Denmark. Highly recommend to visit it if you are interested in old architecture, cute and fairy nordic atmosphere.

The cathedral is a stunning building, with a unique century-spanning architecture. The cathedral is open and free to visit, with only the tower tour being demanding a small payment. Overall great experience. Remember to be silent in the building, as this is something which affects one's enjoyment of the church!!

Fantastic history & experience with this special piece of Denmark. Absolutely worth a visit with a memory for life.
A really nice little “mall town”.
It feels very much like a nice little village, if every building was a designer clothes store. It really uses the Disneyland trick to kinda close off the outside world to make you relaxed and feel encapsulated in the shopping feel, of course on a much smaller scale but still.
There’s even a very impressive playground, to entertain the children while the parents shop.
Also nice food options there where nice pizzas in the back of the compound, and a Five Guys burger joint whose burgers I can really recommend.
Samuel Wollenberg — Google review
Beautiful place with alot of designer shops and food courts. There is alot of parking available inside and on the next building you which is quite affordable. It’s really fun and beautiful of you visit around Christmas although on weekends it’s very busy.

Great selection of brands. Selection in stores good also. Best of all was the way they set up the outlet. I expected storage buildings but it’s more like a small town where you walk outdoors between shops. There’s an opportunity to buy hamburgers, pizza and crepes but we found no real good. Prices are decent.

Such a nice village
Get lost around the shops
Get hungry and get some loaded fries or waffles
I do agree with some others that the parking is over priced and should actually be free if you have shopped in the village, they should validate your ticket, if you haven't bought anything then it's fine pay the fine 😊
Doany brands to choose from
Here is definitely something for everyone
Nice enough as well that they have toilets located everywhere and unlikely in Germany they are free.

Beautiful shopping village. Many shops & cafés.
Great bargains 👍
Not as big as metzingen outletcity but it's close to Hamburg, hence convenient.
If you travel via public transport, a bus shuttle service takes you to the outlets directly from the train station.

It's really nice place who are brand lovers. All Brands at Same place! What a Cool Thing! While Visiting Outlet City one should have ample time because it takes alot of time to visit each store.
There are some vending machines to eat and drink. There are free of cost WC. There are designated places for small kids to play.

Designer Outlet Neumünster is a shopper's dream come true! This outlet offers a fantastic retail therapy experience with its diverse range of high-end brands at discounted prices.
The layout of the outlet is well-planned, making it easy to navigate through the various stores. The ambiance is inviting, and the open-air setting adds a pleasant touch to the shopping experience.

We came here early around 1030am and all the outdoor parking is already full so we had to park in the carpark building on the opposite side of the Outlet. Do expect traffic jam as this is super auto centric area. There is women exclusive parking spot on the groundfloor of the carpark but somehow a lot of men park there. Free umbrella provided on a bad weather. By the time we exit at 1400 the carpark building was so full, that there is a queue to enter.
Unfortunately, i didnt snap any pic here as it was constantly raining.
On the price tag, there will be 2 prices attached. One is standard retail price and another is outlet price which is normally 10% cheaper. If you are lucky, there are also a third price tag, sales price, where the price would be up to 70% off. No discount on food, standard price for 5guys and Starbucks. Is it worth travelling here? Yes, if you want or need to shop a lot of new clothe, shoe or kitchenware. Do come in a group so it makes the travelling worthwhile.

In Hamburg, Germany lies the world's biggest warehouse district called Speicherstadt. The structures in this area are built on top of oak logs that serve as their foundation. This specific warehouse district was constructed between 1883 and 1927 and is located within the HafenCity quarter of Hamburg's port.
The world's largest miniature railroad, Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg, Germany, is a fascinating place to visit with its many details and scenes from different parts of the world. The exhibits are carefully detailed and often include special effects such as fire trucks putting out fires or skiers descending the Swiss mountain.
Absolutely amazing! Good for both kids and adults to visit. The level of detail required to create these structures must have taken countless hours. You can take all the time you need here to admire the intricacies.
After you gain entry, head up to the top floor and start your journey! You'll be able to experience both day and night scenes which will be simulated periodically. More cities are in development so definitely visit again next time.

Fantastic mini land!
The level of detail and small surprises everywhere is astounding!
You could definitely spend a whole day and just discover new things.
You can even have a look at their workshop where they paint and assemble everything.
Be sure to buy tickets and book well in advance because it's a hot spot in Hamburg with many visitors.
Well worth a visit.

I had an unforgettable visit to Miniature Wunderland in Hamburg last weekend! This place offers a truly unique experience with meticulously detailed miniatures representing various cities worldwide, predominantly European ones. The highlight for me was the intricate train networks and the miniature airport with planes taking off and landing. It was a bit crowded, but the 20 euro adult ticket was worth every penny. The presence of miniature shops, a food court, and restroom facilities made the visit even more convenient. Miniature Wunderland is a must-see attraction for anyone in Hamburg!

Super cool! you could spend the whole day here and still not have seen everything. The staff are very friendly and the bistro is a nice place to rest. You can tell a lot of hard work and creativity went into the design of all the exhibits and there are hidden gems everywhere, including trains running right below your feet!
J K — Google review
This place is truly a marvel, even if you're not a model making fan.
All the models are crafted with exceptional detail and they're full of buttons for the whole visiting experience to turn from passive to interactive at will.
On the other side, the place feels very touristy, with souvenir shops packed with unrelated stuff, and a "restaurant" too. Too much people can ruin your experience, and a Saturday evening would not be the perfect day to be there.
Mattia — Google review
Such an extraordinary experience! I'm amazed 👏🏻. Every detail, every city, everything is just perfect. I was not expecting so much from this place and was absolutely positively surprised. Great job! Honestly, I think adults enjoy more than kids, as we can appreciate more the details... but it is a nice place for all ages. It is a must in Hamburg for sure! Better to buy the tickets in advance.
Renata VLM — Google review
Just wow !!! It's an amazing museum. So much to see and be amazed. We spent around 4 hours seeing all the models. The best was the airport and airplane model. It's wonderful place to get kids and even the old ones enjoy the museum. There are many different models. Buying tickets in advance is highly recommended. There is a restaurant as well in the museum. Breakfast and lunch options were good. I recommend booking tickets for the morning slot so that you have enough time to explore the whole museum.
Swati Murteli — Google review

At the evening there were very many people.
Highly recommend to take a camera with good zoom.
Dmitrii Bukreev — Google review
Parking is very restrictive in this area so you are better parking away and walking to the place. The cafe served really nice food and all the staff were polite. The models themselves were very impressive especially with how they interlink. The railway control room is also very impressive.

Cost 20.50 for an adult ticket.
A great place to spend a couple of hours. Be amazed by the displays.
There is a simulation of day and night views of all the displays.
The airport seems to be the most popular. I had a wonderful visit.
There is a canteen within the museum. So one can rest and have a bite before continuing.

Nice spot. It took us around 2 hours to see the whole thing. The cost is 20 euro per person, which is interesting to see but, in my opinion, not a must. We went on Sunday, and it was packed it was hard to get near to the expositions to look closely
Andrea Caballero — Google review
Simply amazing! Was a fun experience. The amount of details is crazy. Also, the whole exhibition is interactive so you’ll get engaged as soon as you start your visit. I’d recommend getting the tickets beforehand because the place gets crowded. It has interesting exhibitions already but they’ll add more soon and I bet it’ll be just as great. You can easily spend 3 hours there. And you’ll enjoy it! They offer guided tours so you can see everything from a different perspective.
Alexa Carlos — Google review
I had high expectations.
Thought the models would be larger. They are h0 scale, so 1:87
The models and figures are mind blowing.
The detailed models of structures and landscapes around the world are magnificent. By gazing at the tremendous level of detail one gets a true sense of the scale of human activity on earth. The scale and vastness of our environmental impact.
One could spend all day there.
Amazzzing.
Will definitely go back.

Absolutely astonishing, there’s a million adjectives I could say about this place and I can’t seem to find a word for this masterpiece. The first sections were gorgeous the rooms are air-conditioned and that but also the details of every single man in the huge miniature model of Hamburg,Switzerland,Austria and the alps is living. I can visually guess that about 89 percent of all models is movable. Every aspect of the model including underground and above in the sky is shown in full detail. The posters for example are always made in local languages going with the theme.
The most outstanding part for me was the airport (since I am a huge avgeek myself) the details as I can see is stringent to a almost horrible level. The airplanes are just so lively as if they were real. Almost every model plane can taxi by itself and a lot of them can even takeoff and land by them self even with features such as gear-tilt included. There’s also the airbus beluga, Junker 52, Boeing 777-300 ER etc.
I would say that the this place is really really really worth your visit because you can feel the heart of the builders, you can feel that they build for the fun, not for the money!
Please, if you every happened to read this. Go to Hamburg and visit this place. Bucket-list worthy!

Every time I am in Hamburg I visit this place, and it never fails to impress me. There are always some new details I get go notice, or completely new set-ups to explore (like South America this time, Monaco is now work in progress). Make sure to buy the ticket in advance and there is almost no waiting time. Also, make sure to devote enough time, as you can easily spend here whole day! ✨

Great museum! We spent over 5 hours on our visit, and it felt short. The model trains, cars, boats, and airplanes are all fantastic, and the attention to detail is second to none. All the little easter eggs are fun to find! Highly recommend!
P G — Google review
It’s beautiful, it’s mesmerizing, you’d have to spend at least two full days there to discover most of the little details. I’ve been here at least 8 times, and I keep finding new things every single time. However, the place is always completely filled with people, no matter what day it is. I HIGHLY recommend purchasing your tickets online at least one week before, to have a chance at getting in at a normal time. Unless of course you want to stand in a queue for 5 hours, not gonna judge that.

Amazing 🤩 has been on my bucket list for many many years, I did 2 back stage tours. In total I spent about 10 hours here! And I'm sure there were lots of little details I still didn't see. The food in the diner is very reasonably priced and is large servings!
Overall very satisfied. This place is amazing.

Such an AMAZING place! They even had a control center. Was so mesmerized by the amount of detail they put in all the cities. The airport with all the planes taking off and everything else happening there made it feel like it was connected to a real airport. The historic dioramas were really interesting too - being able to see how things changed over time. Definitely had a great time here and will be back again next time.

We went here as a family and had a very enjoyable time. I recommend you schedule a whole day here. We spent 5 hours here. There are plenty of different countries on view including Germany,Italy, America and Switzerland. If you look closely there are many hidden jokes like the millennium falcon at the airport and Batman and Robin scaling one of the buildings. We also did the virtual reality part of the tour which was amazing. You can also have a 3D picture taken which you can have as a plastic figure. Loved it.

Incredible place with extremely detailed models. The are some awesome experiences there too, like shrink into wonderland were you where a VR headset and you can pretend your in the models. There is a cafeteria with decent food especially for a museum. The gift shop is quite nice and reasonably priced. I would recommend buying tickets in advance as buying at the museum can take awhile, it is conveniently located in the center of Hamburg. The airport and trains are just beautiful, if you took a zoomed in picture someone would have no idea it was a model. Even the hall between sections has some lovely miniature landscapes, and a great view.

Completely, totally and utterly brilliant in every way. Spent over 6 hours there and only saw one of the two main floors. Exceptionally good value. Excellent proper food in the bistro - lots of seats and sockets to recharge phones etc. Again, great value. All facilities excellent. The whole place is just superb - can't fault it in any way. Best to book ahead - and try to go as early as possible.

We started exploring at 8 a.m., and we were there until after 5 p.m!
It's a totally different experience compared to anything else, and if you have a passion for details and digging into them, you're gonna love it!
Suggestions for the best experience:
1. Charged Phones
2. Bottle of Water
3. Eat good breakfast, so you're full for the day
4. Wear comfortable shoes
5. Bring some nuts with you so you don't have to waste for lunch
6. Take your glasses if you have trouble seeing tint things in distance :)
7. Patience and passion ❤️

Great experience!! Wish we had known how big and nice it was, we would have given ourselves more time. We arrive 23:30, since those were the only tickets available. Pls book well in advance to get a better time! Even at 23:30 it was still amazing. Just wish we had more time, there was so much to see and do. They had buttons for many of the things where something would happen. Also the light changes in intervals from daylight to nighttime and some of the buttons only work in nighttime. Super cool! If ever we’re in Hamburg again, we would definitely go for either half a day or the whole day.

Fabulous place to visit! Image a warehouse FULL of train sets, over multiple floors and now add cars, trucks, planes, not only trains. Amazing! There’s a “night time” every 15 minutes or so where all the lights go down it looks stunning.
The level of detail here is unreal, so many hours have gone into creating this.
The gift shop is also very good, which is a nice change from most tourist attractions.

A must see when in Hamburg, completely worth it.
I recommend you buy tickets 2 days in advance to avoid the waiting queue which can be even 2h long.
It was kind of crowded however we managed to go trough it all, make sure you grab a map at the entrance.
They have a setup where it turns to "night time" and some of the exhibits look better during that short time window.
The airport exhibit was my favorite so pay attention to the landing and take off screen if you are looking for a particular model to see it in action.
Make sure to visit the souvenir shop before you exit as they always have discounts on models.
The entire visit may take arround 3h, even more.

The place was quite huge and so detail! Great place to go for diorama fans & those with children, you could truly spend hours here. My family and I spent about 4 hours, including shopping time.
The only flaw was it was charged €0.50 for cloakroom per item (we didn’t use this) and there were no info about the locker room which was free. But overall was enjoyable and could be considered when you plan to visit Hamburg.

The highlight of this trip is not the viewpoint but the tunnel itself. The viewpoint to Elbe tiver has great scenery though.
This reminds me to Bosphorus in Istanbul, similar view but Elbe river connected to the port which have more bigger ships and cruises. I think the port is the one connected to Stavanger and Bergen.

Located on the Elbe River, Hamburg is Germany's second-largest city and its largest port. The harbor is home to four large container terminals and many smaller warehouses and ships berths. Cruise ships dock here for tours of the city's sights.
I took a boat tour of the Port of Hamburg and it was a fascinating experience. I saw giant cargo ships, observed the loading and unloading operations.

Aasee lake is a popular recreational spot in Munster, offering various activities like boat rentals, walking paths, picnic areas, restaurants and even a zoo & sculpture. It's an ideal place to relax and unwind amidst nature's beauty. The best time to visit is during the evening when the sun sets in the west and gives the area a reddish hue which looks amazing! Visitors can also enjoy boating on the tranquil lake waters.

Hardly ten minutes on foot from Prinzipalmarkt, Aasee is a 40-hectare man-made lake beginning on cusp of the old town and continuing southwest for over two kilometres.
The lakefront is cushioned by a broad band of inviting parkland, laid with lawns, trees and public art, and travelled by cyclists, joggers and strolling families.
There are restaurants and cafes at regular intervals and a raised terrace in the modern complex on the north shore, where you can also hire a pedal boat for self-navigated trip around the lake.
At this spot you’ll find the jetty for SOLAARIS, a solar-powered boat that ferries people from the city centre to the Allwetterzoo on the west shore.

The German Football Museum is an impressive institution showcasing the rich history of soccer in Germany through exhibits and multimedia installations. It caters to both football enthusiasts and families with spaces for kids to play. The museum presents interesting facts about the sport's history, including that of German football. While some may find the admission fee high, it covers all access, making it worth a visit. The friendly staff also adds to the overall experience.
The museum is amazing. If you’re a football fan (or a kid 😁), there is sooo much to see! There are also spaces where kids can play. So many interesting facts about the history of football and of German football. The fee is a bit high. I know that it includes everything, but maybe the fee could be lower just for visiting and people who want extra access to stuff could pay more.
Anyway, it’s definitely worth a visit!

Mind Boggling. a 7- star experience. Spend 3 hours and it still wasn't enough. There so much historical significance of this Sport And this was only the German part of it. Had to rush for the last 15 mins. But what an experience. This museum actually showcases why Football is a way of life. Being one of those who live football, this was so exciting, that I had to restrain myself from shouting ( in a good way) and jumping like a child. So detailed, so many artifacts, photos, and the historical videos were just so thrilling. and the 3-D show was just Wow.
I could go on and on, but will let you guys enjoy the real spine chilling experience. Personally, I Couldn't get enough, but will definitely visit again. And recommend to not just a football fan, but anyone who understands the significance of what a museum should be that honours legacy and it's legends.

Excellent museum next to the central train station in Dortmund. 19 euros ticket for an adult. Children, students etc. cheaper. Focussing on the international and domestic achievements of German football teams, this modern museum combines film and multimedia with traditional info boards (in German and English), and real momentos and original pieces behind glass. Fun items too such as Helmut Schön's cap and a tribute to Paul the Octopus (who was born at Sealife in my hometown of Weymouth, England). I am 61 years old, and I remember many of the German players and football triumphs, so for me it was worth visiting. I would recommend to any football fan who also enjoys history and museums. I was in the museum for 3 hours, but I wish I could have stayed longer, but I had to catch a train. There is plenty to see and do. There is also a film and tour.

As someone with no real interest in football, I found myself spending hours here. It was interesting all the way through and you get a real sense of the passion involved.
There is a floor dedicated to the history of the German team, accomplishments and highlights over the years and another for the Bundesliga and some interactive pieces at the end.
If I recall, all content was in German and English.

Great museum, specially for those interested in the German National team. Nice memorabilia and texts also available in English. The 3D ride is just a joke, but not to the point of hurtimg the muse as a whole. Interesting stuff on the museum store.

Probably, the biggest football museum in Germany, nice to visit if you were in Dortmund or transit( very close of the train station ). You can discover history of the sport in the country through it’s history: world wars, division of country, the era after reunification.
Interactive and comprehensive, it can takes few hours to carefully visit it. For me it deservs if you are a football fan.

Detailed and engaging history of German football. Great way to spend two or three hours - countless old shirts to look at, trophies to take photos with, and so much to learn.

Super cool exhibits explaining the history of German football. I myself am not specifically a fan of the German national team but I really enjoyed the time I spent here. Cool artifacts and great descriptions, could spend about 3 hours here and it’s right across from the main train station so a great place to kill time before catching a train. Student discount is amazing, almost 50% off of the ticket price.

Staffing was very friendly and supportive.
There was no wait at all during the week in December. Would highly recommend for true soccer fans especially 2014 mold cup is a big theme for this museum.
Ticket prices are ok.

Excellent place for anyone interested in football. There is a good mix of interactive media, reading about exhibits, items to see and stories to learn.
Very captivating thematic parts of the museum from important matches in German football all the way to recent times (including also women squads), great job 👍
I personally really enjoyed the West vs East Germany section and part that football played during war times, but they definitely have also easier to digest areas and kid routes.
You can spend between half a day to full day here depending on how thorough you want to be.
Recommend buying tickets online as they are a bit cheaper than buying on-site.

I loved the football museum - particularly also the section on the old GDR and how doctrine linked to training. I was totally mesmerized and forgot time. I take the point they could have consulted fans more - e.g. relatively little on the current leagues, on European tournaments

ZOOM Erlebniswelt Gelsenkirchen offers a unique experience, allowing visitors to embark on a journey through three distinct adventure worlds: Alaska, Africa, and Asia. Spanning over 30 hectares, this expansive zoo provides a natural habitat for more than 900 animals across 100 species. Families with young children will find it especially enjoyable, as there are playgrounds and boating activities available.
The Zoo is Wonderful. We experienced so many adventures but this one is on the top 3. Perfect space and care for the animals, super entertainment for the families and great outdoor places for lunches. We'll come back for sure 😄😄😄
NATASHA NATE — Google review
Great zoo where the animals are almost as important as the visitors. The animals have a really big and well care environment to move. The visitors must follow one of the 3 different round paths(Africa, Asia or Alaska). You cann se a whole amount of different spices.
Perfect to bring the kids. A lot of food and drink options along the way and a great playground for the kids.
Parking is also very easy and the prices are good (zoo and parking)
The evening ticket (from 16) is totally worth it if you want to just take a look around.

Entrance fee about 21 euro. For students 15 euro. There are 3 different type of zoo sections inside: Asian, African and Alaska zoos. Many photos added. Some adventure places were closed because of COVID-19. There are free and paid parking places. Just come to the street next to the entrance of the zoo and you can park here free. Free toilets inside.

The best experience in NRW! Absolute delight. I spent one of the best day at ZOOM. It's the perfect place to have an amazing quality time with friends/family alike. If you're fascinated my animals then just visit this place. Although, carry your own food and drinks along. You can have a nice picnic in one of the open dining spaces.

This is probably the best zoo I've ever been to. Super cool layout and design. I appreciated all the little details to make it feel like you were really in one of the three 'areas'. I think my fav part, besides the awesome animals, was the way the guests move through the zoo. Everyone goes one way through the zoo, so even though I went on a busy Saturday it didn't feel nearly as busy as the Koln zoo for instance. Can't wait to go again!

A great place to be with your family members especially when you've small kids in your family... Actually we love to see animals so, we bought a year ticket (Jahreskarte) and with this ticket, you will get some discounts as well in other partner zoos.
Normally in Zoos, animals are often kept in small spaces but here in Zoom Erlebniswelt, the spaces provided to the animals are really big and are well maintained and well decorated with natural plants and greeneries.. So it somehow gave me a feeling of natural parks.
Ujjwal Joshi — Google review
A great place for a few hours' walk with additional entertainment. Entrance ticket for an adult about 22 euros. (Parking 3 and 6 euros).
The zoo consists of 3 parts divided thematically in terms of region - there is an Asian, African and Alaska part. In each of them, in addition to animals from a given region, you will also find vegetation, as well as architecture and individual decorative elements. Each part has a dining area, toilets, as well as an individual attraction (interactive ice adventure, boat trip, huge playground, etc.). In many places, there is a nicely integrated slide for kids, which diversifies their time.
All descriptions only in German, too bad.

The experience was amazing. The zoo is laid out in 3 parts (africa; Asia and antarctica) and you need to assume an hour at least to walk through each.
The paths are wonderfully laid out and the decoration and foliage always matches the continent you're visiting. There's many enclosures to see and they seem to always be clean and the animals well taken care of! Entry was about 23 euros which is just fine for a zoo this size and quality in my opinion.

I don't know if it was because we went in November, it seemed a bit neglected to me. But overall it was nice. I think some of the animals had limited space and were very unhappy because of it. Seals and penguins are great fun.

If your planning to go at this zoo please don’t hesitate, it’s so beautiful and they are a variety of different animals to see we actually went for a ride in snow 😂in Alaska which was so beautiful, the food there is a bit pricey so you can pack your own food and drinks and then enjoy, everything there is very beautiful
Archaeological park featuring full-size reconstructions of Roman houses, temples & an amphitheater.
Very big park on a historical site where the past is brought back to the present.
I hope much more will be excavated and many more buildings reconstructed.
Becouse what has been done is very much like the real deal with a very great kwality. Like the northern gate and the amphitheater are my personal favorites.
Definitely worth a visit if you like history.

A great and detailed reconstruction of the ancient Roman city "Colonia Ulpia Traiana" (CUT). The park covers many different parts of Roman life and contains a lot of buildings with information boards. Our group had a tour guide who took us through the most important stations of the park (in German) and I can only recommend that. Nice lady who knew her topic very well and made everything exciting for children. A must-visit for every Latin student!

A great Museum to experience and learn about the history of roman empire in Germany. Top attractions were Aphitheater and Hafentempel. One of the most beautiful and well created archeological site. The park is really huge. In trip advisor and various other review sites, people talk about spending nearly 3hrs here. Well, you need atleast a day to really feel and understand the history behind this place. The park could be entered through multiple entries which are primarily the 3 active gates of the park. The main attractions in the park are Hafentempel, Roemer Museum, Amphitheater and the walls and towers near the Amphitheater. There is a windmill in the middle of the park. It is converted into cafe and they don't allow people to go up to view from the terrace which is shame. Apart from that the entire archeological park is must see! It is only 800m from the railway station.
Sreeram Sadasivam — Google review
Unfortunately I felt a bit disappointed by the visit here. The site is actually well maintained and the staff are very helpful but I was unsure about the treatment of the archaeology still present on site in that according the guide the recreated structures have been built on top of the original (roman) remains.
I had a feeling this was to an extent the wrong way to treat and to clearly separate what was old and original and what was a recreation. Having said that the recreations are very good as far as I can determine but many of the people I overheard thought wrongly these were in fact true old roman structures.
The site is very large and there are very limited excavations visible (Mar 24). If you do go then make sure you also have a stroll around Xanten. St. Viktor is quite beautiful inside.

A History museum done right. Experimental architecture is thé best way to help people imagine the past. The archaeological Museum Xanten shows how it can be done. Even though this might not be for everyone, for those interested in history, with all levels of prerequisite knowledge, it's a great visit. The (partial) reconstruction of the houses, the amphitheater and the temple are great and I particularly enjoyed the ship building shed. The museum is a nice visit as well with information available in English, German or Dutch.

LVR Archaeological Park Xanten in
Germany's largest archaeological open-air museum invites you to an exciting excursion into history. Impressive buildings such as the harbor temple and the amphitheater, residential buildings and bathing facilities provide vivid insights into life in Roman Germania.
In addition, the award-winning LVR-RömerMuseum, excavations and activities to participate offer a variety of incentives to approach Roman times with all your senses.
For children, the meadows and large playgrounds offer many opportunities to let off steam and discover.
Good value for money and reasonably priced selection of food, drinks coffee also fair prices. Really good place for kids. Playing area very clean and beautiful 😻 my kids and other kids also really enjoyed! Thank you so much for your good maintenance.
The John Frost Bridge, located in Arnhem, is a famous bridge that was rebuilt in 1948 and named after Major-General Frost. It played a crucial role in the Battle of Arnhem during World War II when British forces defended it against the Germans. The Allied Forces attempted to reclaim the bridge but were unsuccessful, making it known as "A Bridge Too Far." Nowadays, visitors can walk or cycle across the bridge and stand where history was made.
A critical site of WWII history! Arnhem Bridge, now called the John Frost Bridge. The original was built in 1935; blown up by the Dutch in May 1940; rebuilt by the Germans in 1942; damaged by American bombers in Oct ‘44; blown JPB y the Nazis in Feb 1945; rebuilt and opened in 1950. Watch out for mopeds on the sidewalk. LTC John Frost commanded 2d para. He and his men approached the bridge along he lower road, close to the river Neder Rijn. In the movie “A Bridge too Far” Anthony Hopkins plays Frost. Frost was a POW and rose to the rank of Major General.

Inspired by ‘A Bridge Too Far’, it was my childhood dream to visit these key objectives in Operation Market Garden. Famous for being the biggest allied airborne operation in WW2, it is also infamous for being the biggest failure in allied military history.

Wonderful site to visit for anyone interested in World War II history or that is a fan of the movie "A Bridge Too Far." The Arnhem bridge was the bridge the Allies fell short of taking in Operation Market Garden in September 1944. The current bridge was named in honor of the British Lt. Colonel John Frost of the British 1st Airborne Division who led a small force of 740 men in a valiant attempt to take the bridge. German forces at the bridge proved much stronger than expected and American and British reinforcements were delayed by unexpected German resistance on the road to Arnhem. After four days of fighting, the British force at the bridge was overrun. The movie was not filmed here at the bridge because the buildings had changed so much in the ensuing years that the location no longer resembled its appearance in 1944. The bridge in the film is located at Deventer several miles away. A great site to visit for the history buff!
Bill Delperdange — Google review
The original John Frost bridge is well worth a visit if you are interrested in Market Garden. "A bridge to far" was not filmed here but rather in Deventer, 35 km from Arnhem, on the with Wilhelmina bridge.

Great piece of history and well worth the visit, you get a real sense of what went on in this place, way back on the 17'th September 1944. There is a good museum that is free to enter and very informative, with a small display and good loos. Definitely worth a visit if you in to your WWII history as it is a beautiful place to visit even if it's a stroll down the river to check out the local bars. Explore on site what happened here late September 1944 when Montgomery’s troops were marching rapidly north through Holland, taking one after another vital river crossings on their way towards the hearth of the Third Reich, and then found this a bridge too far : now called the John Frost Bridge after the commander of the Battalion that held it for a night but then lost to see Hitler’s Germany win its last battle of 2nd World War. Philosophise with the ladies keeping the memorial center at the river embankment on how different Europe might have looked had it gone the other way.

The Hohenzollern Bridge is a spectacular bridge in Cologne that is used for railway traffic. It has been nicknamed "Love Locks" because of the many couples who attach padlocks to the railing and throw the key into the River Rhine below. The bridge is one of Cologne's most popular tourist attractions, and it's estimated that its locks weigh more than two tons!
The Cologne Central Station has been refurbished and upgraded to cater to local, national, and international passenger trains. The hostel adjacent to the station offers easy access to nearby tourist destinations. The rooms are well-lit with parquet or hardwood flooring and large windows providing a great view of the neighborhood. Guests can sleep soundly on comfortable single beds with individual bed headlight for checking emails while lying down.
.There are so many Shops, toilet costs 1 euro but you will get back a voucher for 50 cents that you can use to some stores in the station.
There is an automatic luggage storage system by the entrance near the info booth.
The central station is located near the bay where there are many restaurants.
Wifi is free and fast.. good connection

The Cologne Cathedral is a huge, imposing building with a beautiful facade. It's also a popular tourist destination with guided tours and views of the Rhine.
Majestic, grand and all those similar adjectives. This is the main attraction in cologne and is worth it. The space around the cathedral is also relaxing. The insides of the cathedral is breathtaking. Also you can climb the tower which is also, literally, breathtaking, since there are 500 odd steps to climb. Visit as early as possible to avoid crowd. It is specially beautiful at night with all the lights, it looks surreal.

The place outside the Cathedral is too crowded and noisy that it is less possible for us to breath. The place is so beautiful and inside of the cathedral is calm and quiet. The Cologne Cathedral is a magnificent architectural masterpiece that I had the pleasure of visiting. This Gothic-style cathedral, located in Cologne, Germany, is truly a sight to behold. With its towering spires reaching towards the heavens and intricate stained glass windows, it is no wonder the cathedral has garnered so much admiration and recognition. The interior of the cathedral is equally awe-inspiring. The high ceilings and ornate carvings that adorn the walls add to the sense of grandeur and historical significance that this beautiful building possesses. I was particularly captivated by the organ, which is a remarkable feat of engineering and craftsmanship. The atmosphere inside the cathedral is one of reverence and tranquility, allowing visitors to appreciate the art and spirituality that encompasses them. Exploring the Cologne Cathedral was an unforgettable experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

Wow! Such a great Cathedral! So many interesting features. It is absolutely stunning. I would highly recommend visiting it. It's free to enter but the guided tour is worth the €10. Also it's extra for the treasury and climbing the South tower

Outstanding! Don't miss the opportunity to go to the top of the belfry (no elevator, might be very cold and windy depending on the season and weather). Free admission to the cathedral, 5€/person - entrance to the belltower. And there is a WC :)

Entrance to Cathedral is free. In front of is the line for security check only. Place is the highest and built with so many details you must visit and see. Inside is possible to light a candle and pray, there is enough space to get peace from tourists for a few minutes. Overall, amazing.

Amazing and breathtaking, a true feat of human engineering. Free entry into cathedral proper, but small fee if you want to climb the tower (~500 steps) or explore the treasury. Main church has plenty to see and its easy to relax and enjoy the organ every so often. Mass is available quite frequently. Such a beautiful and impressive church! Definitely worth a trip to see!

Magnificent cathedral with majestic views. The first view of the cathedral from the train station is breathtaking. The (ticketed) climb up the stairs of bell tower was fun and the views of Cologne from the top were great. Definitely worth a visit.

Going to Cologne Cathedral with your friends was amazing. The building is super impressive with its tall spires and fancy details.
When you go to the top, you can see a really great view of the city. It's a really special place shows architecture brilliance, history and culture. Definitely worth checking out!

It is one of the most visited destinations by tourists, as it is definitely impressive. I was totally fascinated by the architecture of this place.
I loved the feeling of tranquility and security inside the cathedral. However, it is also quite imposing. What surprised me the most was the catacombs part.
I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit this place.

Cologne Cathedral is beautiful, amazing building. It is 157 m tall and the world’s third largest Gothic-style cathedral with 10,000 square metres of windows and 20,000 visitors daily.
A lot of people want to take a picture of it so always is crowded in front of cathedral, but it's worth it.

I visited Cologne for Christmas 2023 and it was a great experience. There were a lot of tourists, big crowds, and there was a Christmas bazaar around the cathedral. This cathedral is my second favorite place in Germany, so I highly recommend everyone to visit it. It's huge size cathedral, look so amazing by night

What an impressive building it is! Beyond imagination. I was blown away and someone even played the organs. Thank you for that.
I just do not understand why they decided to build a railway station and a two lane road by the cathedral.
Petr “Švany” Švancar — Google review
Climbed to the top of the cathedral. One stair case for both up and down and over 500 steps on a narrow spiral staircase. Not for the unfit or people scared of tight spaces. However once at the top the views were amazing

This was the first cathedral we went to on our visit to Germany. As we came out of the DB station , the cologne cathedral standing in front looked heavenly... It was a sight which has remained with me till date, the beautiful architecture of the Cathedral along the hotel spaces with the rhine river bridge along it looked mesmerizing...
The interior of the church looks beautiful. There is a provision to go till the top through stairs and it gives a birds eye view of Cologne city 🌆
The cafes around are a cherry on top, just take a cup of a drink and enjoy the intricacies of the architectural beauty 😍

We visited the cathedral during the week. Once out of the train station you see the cathedral just outside. Take the opportunity to cross the bridge to the other side of the river and go to the view point. For a small fee you have spectacular views of all the city.

The scale of this place impresses me each time I visit. It's an incredible work of art and history. 300 years to build. It would be amazing if restorations were able to occur more quickly to remove more of the black from the exterior. It's truly amazing!

My life long dream came true last evening when I visited this good old Cathedral that survived heavy shelling during World War II. Place of biblical historical importance. Memorable Visit!
The Cologne Chocolate Museum is a museum dedicated to the history of chocolate. The museum has permanent exhibitions on the history of chocolate from different parts of the world, and includes interactive exhibits for visitors to experience the taste and texture of different chocolates.
What an impressive show of industrial skill. I’ve been to chocolate museums before but this was on another level. It had partially operational industrial machinery demonstrating how chocolate is made now and in the past. Then on top of that it has several historical exhibits, a chocolate shop and a cafe. Nearly everything is in English. Quite the experience for a foreigner.

You can buy tickets upon entry, no need for advance tickets unless you want. I thoroughly enjoyed going through the museum and learning the history of chocolate and how it’s made, processed, and used across the world and different cultures.
Coolest part is seeing the chocolate actually made right in front of you through different steps. You even get to click a button that pops out the chocolate that was just cooled/made. Definitely worth the visit here in Cologne!

The place is great! A must visit tourist attraction in Cologne. The place is mostly crowded on the weekend and the getting a ticket there might become a big challenge. The place is located right at the heart of the city so it’s easily accessible but parking is a problem, the place doesn’t have its own parking, need to use nearby parking places and walk to the museum. The place has lot of history and future plans for chocolate industry, also the making of chocolate. A whole floor is dedicated for chocolate making and you can see how chocolate bars are made by looking at the working machines. There is also small chocolate outlet to get chocolates and souvenirs from the museum.

Very informative museum, plus free samples! Easy to get tickets as they were issued in 15minute increments. Loved the history and the ways so many countries contribute to chocolate manufacturing. Plus great to see chocolate making in action!! Cafe was a nice atmosphere after wandering; crepes were divine!!

I would not say that this is a must visit on your trip to Cologne. Also with entry ticket at at EUR 14 per adult, the place is a bit expensive. We went to the place as a family with our four year old son. The place gives information on chocolate processing, and one can find live chocolate production happening at the place. You can taste the freshly made chocolate, if you buy tickets to the museum. Overall the place is OK, If you are on a leisurely trip to Cologne, you may visit the place.

Nice place to have an idea about how the 'Lindt' chocolates are made. Very nice place to take children for their level of excitement.
Especially nice to see the different types of process throw which chocolates are made. It's one of a kind experience. Not to forget and miss the free sample tasting of chocolate wafers provided.
Wheelchair accessible entrance is available. Exciting information about chocolates are available.

The museum is not so big and the whole tour takes about 1-1,5 h. It's good to come in the morning as it isn't crowded. To avoid waiting in the line, I would recommend buying the tickets earlier via the website. In the museum you can see a lot of information about each step of chocolate production. Actually you will get an answer to all kinds of questions about chocolate. Inside there is a small production line which is very interesting. In the end, you may taste a fresh piece of chocolate or try something sweet from the chocolate fountain. This is definitely a place worth visiting however the price of the ticket could be a bit lower.

It was one of my super nice experiences. The museum gives us all the details of the chocolate 🍫, the history of the owner, and where the farms of the company are.
You can bay also pay one Euro to planting one coco tree 🌳

Reasonably priced and really enjoyable for people of all ages. Explains where the raw ingredients come from, transport, production (the smell is superb), marketing and sustainability to name a few. Free chocolate along the way including the chocolate fountain, and be sure not to miss the cafe afterwards, the staff everywhere were nice but my server in the cafe in particular was great. Gift shop not silly money either for the quality you’re buying. A must visit!!!

Really sweet experience!
They give some free Lindt chocolate when you enter, good for some sugar rush as you explore the museum.
You can try some free chocolates at various chocolate stations. You get to see the process of making chocolate and you’ll also see some robotic machinery they use now.
If you come in after 5pm, they have a ticket sale, since they close at 6pm. The chocolates in the store are also priced well.

Really interesting factory museum. I thought they did a nice job including a wide array of interests/considerations to include some relating to fair trade and global warming concerns in the chocolate industry. Lots to look at, you could spend half a day here for sure. Loved the shop, plenty to buy there. One of the coolest things was that you have the opportunity to have a custom chocolate bar made right in front of you!

Fun for the entire family. I think particularly those with children would do themselves a disservice by not going to this place. But even those who would perhaps have a grey hair more than they would like are still going to find something fun and educational in the visit. The tour is well laid out and you get great views of the city . Its a well spent time in Cologne.

This is an amazing place to be. Although there was a huge crowd both in and outside the museum you’ll love it there. So detailed illustration of how chocolate is made. You’ll also get small gifts both when going in, inside and when going outside. It’s a lovely experience

I love chocolate, especially lindt! Complimentary chocolate on arrival was happily received, then an interesting history of cocoa until the best part, the chocolate fountain and factory section. Samples of the liquid chocolate are handed out, I could've stayed in that section the whole time! I wasn't too bothered about the rest of the museum other than the complimentary chocolates upon leaving. The shop had an amazing selection too. Busy on weekends

A beautiful and charming museum. Gives you a nice background about the chocolate making, manufacturing and distribution process. You also get free chocolates! You can also get a chocolate from freshly prepared chocolate. If you want you can also make your own customized chocolate bar. It takes almost 2-3 hrs to roam around the museum. Do not forget to get chocolates from the shop below😄.

We visited the Lindt chocolate Museum recently. We were thrilled to attend the fine tasting session. The narrator gave us an complete overview of the chocolate processing and we had an opportunity to taste some of the products during the process like from the coco beans, coco butter to final stage of finished chocolate.
Highly recommend to get an online booking specially during weekend. We saw really huge line on Saturday luckily we had our session booked. Good for kids.

Buy tickets in advance online. Go early, when the museum opens to avoid the crowds. I enjoyed that they showed the entire journey of a chocolate bar. Even showing things like shipping and market share of different brands. Even though I was there on a Sunday there were lots of staff in the chocolate factory showing off their craft which was great to see. The museum also had a history part, detailing things such as chocolate during the wars. So in summary, the museum really has a bit of everything and of course the opportunity to taste the chocolate. I would recommend a visit if in Cologne. Also, if you are there during December the Christmas market in front of the museum was one of the less crowded markets.

It is a well designed museum with a lot happening there.
As many others recommended, buy your ticket well in advance and if you're interested in a tour (I highly recommend one) buy it way way in advance.
I booked the short course (30 min) that gave an overview of different stages of production with tasting (Yes! we tried a bean!). It was worth the extra 2.5 EUR for sure and was not too long.
There's a green house with chocolate and banana trees that have fruits!
I recommend going there if you're in Köln. Definitely one of the best things to do there.

Visiting this museum was one of the best decisions I made when I was in Cologne, Germany.
During the tour there are different exhibitions that explain everything from the origin of chocolate, to the way it is processed and obtained, as well as its commercial distribution.
The tour is very entertaining, and the best thing is that they give free chocolate samples. Although the price could be considered somewhat high, I think it is totally worth it.

Pretty special museum if you are really into chocolate, infographics, and more chocolate :)
Try to avoid visiting during weekends for a less crowded experience, and buy your ticket online to avoid waiting on the queue in the entrance
The museum has nice areas to visit, a cafe and a chocolate store. There is even a roof you can access from outside with a beautiful view

Super cool. You get to see where chocolate started and all of the processes to make it. There are samples from the chocolate made right in front of you, and you even have an opportunity to have your own chocolate bar made with different toppings. The chocolate tastes better than what is sold in the stores. So delicious and so fun! Use the QR code to purchase tickets. Waiting in line takes a lot longer.

That was a nice place to visit when you are in Cologne. Seeing A cocoa tree is interesting and a bunch of interesting information. My only complaint was the people assigned who are helping/ordering the queue. They were rude even on a plain simple question...
The Overloon War Museum is a large museum in the town of Overloon that focuses on WWII history, displaying military vehicles and weapons while also highlighting a local battle. The museum has been recently renovated and offers visitors the opportunity to learn about past wars, particularly WWII. One highlight of the museum is the Militracks Weekend held in May each year, which features displays of army vehicles, tanks, jeeps, and markets.
Initial exhibition area at the front of the museum is a wide open and quite sparsely populated. But as soon as you get to the large "storage hall" in the back that is where all the hardware is stored.
An excellent exhibit is the Lancaster that was dug up from the mud with all the pieces located as part of the fuselage.
Other hardware is in great shape with loads of pieces from tanks trucks and planes.

Impressive museum about the second world war (WW2). This is the best WW2 museum I have been too (so far) that describes the reality of the war. The collection of people that experienced the war was very impressive and interesting. They tell the story of different people in the war. The collection of tanks, artillery, other vehicles and planes is impressive. Around these there are weapons, ammo, shells and electronics ordered. Also very interesting are the military bikes and the impressive amphibious vehicles. This is a museum worth the visit. Also outside there is a big nice park.

One of the most beautiful and detailed war museums I have visited so far. The horrors of WW2 have been explained very well. Must do things when you visit are climbing inside a tank and seeing the hundreds of bombs, bullets and missiles that have been displayed.
The tagline "War belongs in a museum" best fits this place... Worth visiting

It starts off with a lot of interesting information about the netherlands in WW2.
The items are original and the story about it, how it's explained is pretty good.
There is a big hall with alot of vehicles and other war machinery.
They have shelfs and shelfs of different kind of radio's and ammunition / grenades.
And an most impressive layout of the crashed british Lancester NN775.
On the outside there some more tanks and information.

I was very excited to see this museum, and it surely did not disappoint! Tickets can be bought directly on site (no need to book in advance) the whole museum takes around 4-5 hours (if you read everything in depth). Tells the heart breaking history of the occupation of Netherlands. very informative! The information inside is provided in German and i was told that English is also available. At the end there is a huge exhibition of tanks, various vehicles, planes...etc. Simply amazing!!

A must go for everybody with intriguing personal stories to make the war touchable. I went there with my 15 year old daughter and she liked it. I could enrich the displays with some back ground info. Questions like what is a glider, what is a radar, what are these metal tripods doing outside and how does a V-1 fly. I would have liked more explanations on how it all works. Some displays are very unique like the boat Yvette and the Lancaster bomber display. Also why not a recruitment leaflet, how to join the army? There were many schoolkids from some high school when we visited. They should also consider a career in the army. War is not some stuffy thing from the past. It is all around us!
Wilfred Steeman — Google review
For any WW2 buffs, this is heaven! I spent 4 hours wandering through the exhibits. Many well known and underappreciated pieces were on offer to look over, notably a Panzer V and Stug self propelled gun.
For english speakers, the app to bring up English translations was well worth using to get the most out of this amazing museum in a quaint and very important town in the history of Operation Market Garden.

This was our last stop on our trip to visit WWI battlefields and cut across Belgium and the Netherlands. This is a very comprehensive museum full of great exhibits mostly on WWII. Many of them are based on German equipment which one (at least I never found any) cannot find in Germany proper.
A storyboard tells the story of what it was like living on the border when the Wehrmacht stormed across the border as well as what life was like under German occupation. Loads of exhibits show life on and off the battlefield.
Though most of the museum is aimed at World War II, there are many great exhibits of previous and later conflicts.

A friend recommended visiting and we drove over. Very glad to have had a chance to visit and look at the collection of World War II vehicles, weapons, and exhibits. It was wet weather when we visited, so we only got to tour the inside, however the impact I felt from the museum was huge. The sheer amount and types of vehicles really portrays the scope of the war in a graphic way. The Lancaster wreckage display was very impactful as well.
I would definitely go back to explore the grounds as well if I ever get the chance!

Great historical monument it's lit well during the night
The Aachen Cathedral (Aachener Dom) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in the city of Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is one of the most important religious monuments in Europe and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. The octagonal Palatine Chapel was built by Emperor Charlemagne as his palace church in 800 and later became the coronation chapel for Holy Roman Emperors. The Gothic choir was completed in 1414.
This Roman Catholic church is really old as it dates back to the 9th century. Many German Kings and Queens were crowned in Aachen's Cathedral, as well as being the resting place for Charlemagne. There is nothing modest about this structure. Mosaics, gold and marble in the interior add a glorious feeling. It is considered occidental architecture and if you take a tour you can learn all about this new UNESCO World Heritage site.
Sudarat Maneetapo — Google review
So much history throughout this stunning Dom. Free to walk in on the first floor, where you get a view of the mosaic ceilings and top to bottom, stained glass. The climb to the top of the tower is also easy and accessible. This is a must see when visiting Aachen.
Mathew Love — Google review
My visit to Aachen Cathedral in 2014 was a fascinating journey into the heart of history and art. The cathedral's rich architectural heritage and religious significance left a lasting impression, making it a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and culture lovers.
The intricate design and craftsmanship of the cathedral's interior were awe-inspiring. The golden mosaics and beautifully adorned chapels showcased the skill of the artisans who created this magnificent place of worship. The Palatine Chapel, in particular, stood out with its unique octagonal shape and exquisite detailing.
The historical importance of Aachen Cathedral as the coronation site of numerous German kings added to its allure. Standing in the same space where centuries of royal history unfolded was a humbling experience that transported me back in time.
The cathedral's surroundings, including the charming Old Town and the nearby Elisenbrunnen, provided an excellent backdrop for exploring the city's cultural offerings.
However, the experience could have been enhanced with more detailed information provided at various points within the cathedral. While the architecture spoke volumes, additional signage or guided tours would have provided deeper insights into its historical and religious significance.
Overall, Aachen Cathedral is a treasure trove of art, history, and spirituality that should not be missed. Despite the minor lack of information, the beauty and cultural value of this UNESCO World Heritage Site make it a compelling destination for anyone with an appreciation for the past and the wonders of architectural excellence.

The Beekse Bergen zoo offers visitors the unique experience of observing various wild animals such as elephants, lions and apes in their natural habitat. The park provides guided tours on buses, boats and walking paths, allowing for a diverse way of exploring the grounds. The zoo sets itself apart from others by offering the opportunity to drive through areas where many of the animals roam freely which is an exceptional experience.
Great place to spend time with kids. It was a unique experience for us to be able live right next to a few lions 🦁 . You hear them roaring the whole night but it was exciting and fun. The safari park has lot of animals to visit by foot or by car or by boat. We tried all and it was worth it. There is a big fun park for kids with rides as well. Days well spent.

A beautiful zoo where animals roam freely. I got together with my friends and their kids for a Sunday activity. It was a pleasant day. You can do a safari by bus and ship. There is also an option that you can do with your vehicle if you prefer, but it is a bit limited compared to others. What I don't like about this place is that the food options were a little less; frankly, we couldn't find anything to eat. But if you want to do a safari without going to Africa, it is a good option. The parking fee is 9.50 Euros, and you can get it from the internet or the kiosks at the entrance.
There is no control when entering, but they check one by one when leaving. I would recommend not taking it in advance to don't stay at the exit.

This zoo for me was one of the best zoos I have seen so far. First of all the you could get a chance to see all the animals which you would see on the map. It was really exciting for kids to see them all. There are different options to explore it , by walk, by your vehicle, by the boat.
Special attractions were, lion, tiger of different types. There are sufficient sitting areas to sit and eat and toilets.
All area is wheel chair friendly and you also get a kid cart in case if you forget to bring.

Great experience, will come back here for sure. The allotment for the animals is huge and all of them seem relaxed and happy, I did not see signs of stress. Really impressive. Oh and, the toddler elephants are really adorable!

It is most amazing and secret safari in Netherlands. I would definitely recommend to book safari resort where you spend your whole day with animal. Everything arranged so well.
Who don’t want to have breakfast next to giraffe or lion or many more. Must experience thingy. Definitely recommended!

Beekse Bergen offers an unforgettable safari experience that is sure to impress even the most seasoned travelers. The vast plains and rolling hills of the park provide an ideal backdrop for a thrilling adventure that is both educational and entertaining.
One of the best ways to experience Beekse Bergen is on foot or car. These safaris allow visitors to get up close and personal with a variety of animals, including, lions, rhinos, and giraffes. The guides are happy to answer questions and provide insight into the behavior and habits of the animals, making for an educational and informative experience.
For those who prefer a more adventurous safari experience, Beekse Bergen offers the option to drive your own car through the park. This allows visitors to explore the park at their own pace and get even closer to the animals. The park provides a app that details the different routes through the park and provides information on the various animals that can be seen along the way.
Overall, Beekse Bergen offers a safari experience that is both impressive and unforgettable. Whether you choose to explore the park on foot or by car, you are sure to be greeted by breathtaking scenery and a wide variety of fascinating animals. The park is well-maintained and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, making for a truly enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend a visit to Beekse Bergen to anyone looking for a unique and exciting safari adventure.
My family and I will certainly come back again.

Interesting concepts of a safari park, mixed with a zoo. It is a big spacious park, where the animals have lots of space, with a focus on African animals. The car safari is a nice ride passing the animal, and sometimes engaging with them. The zoo part is a good walk, but the variety of animals is a bit limited. The extremely large elephant enclosure is under serious reconstruction, and looks promising. A nice tip: if you are a member of the ANWB, go to their website for discounted tickets, saves 20-25%.

This resort is 2 thumps up. The scenery is wonderful.
We stayed at the lion's area. So basically our backyard was all lion's. It was an amazing experience. My kids enjoyed it so much.
Every other day, they feed the lion's at 9:45am in the morning. If I come back, I'm staying again with the lion's. The lion's roar is so powerful and beautiful.

Options for bus safari and walking trail also.
We spent a whole day and it was a good experience.

Exceptional zoo. Amazing to drive your car with the animals walking around or even towards you.
Also the walk routes are great. Doable with a wheelchair or pram.
Information signs in different languages and enough clean toilets.
Great variety of animals to see. It's a zoo but different. We went wit kids between the age of 4 and 19 and all had a great time!

A very nice experience in a sunny day. A perfect tour with the kids, a lot of animals to see. We liked the possibility to visit the park in different ways, by walking, by car and also by bus and a boat. Very well organized also with restaurants. Recommended.

A little bit expensive (35 euros pp), but it's nice to see rare animals. Unfortunately you can't feed them. You can watch the zoo by walking, driving slowly your own car or by boat (too far to see animals clearly) .
Marina Makarenko (Bella Thompson) — Google review
Outstanding. This safari park covers a large area and harbors many animals. The animals have large amounts of space - you can’t possibly compare that to any other regular zoo out there. There’s also quite a few young animals, which you might not always see at first, but if you do it is always a beautiful sight, since it indicates how at home they feel here.
There are a lot of great animals to see here. One of my personal favorites were the ring-tailed lemurs. They roam completely free in their territory with no fences whatsoever. Fascinatingly, they are not shy or scared at all - in fact, they will walk onto the path all by themselves and happily let you come closer to observe them. A very unique experience.
The boat-safari gets you from one end of the park to the other within about 30 minutes, while also providing a small tour at the same time. You may see a few animals near the water, however, most of them will likely be pretty far away and you might not see much. There’s no guarantee.
The park offers multiple opportunities to get food, drinks, and all sorts of snacks. This includes restaurants and also small food stands. Most of it is quite expensive, so you might want to bring some things yourself too.
Overall, this might be the greatest animal park I have ever been to, and I can only recommend it. It is a wonderful, unforgettable experience and I had a really good time. The visit is definitely worth it.

Great spacious zoo/safari park which is ideal for a long walk. Plus side is that when you are tired of walking you can take the safari bus or boat back close to the entrance. Parking is not cheap, but also not overly expensive. Food is decent and on par with gas station prices. Park has a good variety of animals and is pretty well accessable.

Wonderful place, and a magical experience for the kids. We spent four days here and could have stayed longer. We opted to stay in a house on the edge of one of the animal enclosures (lodge 411) and woke up each morning to a rhino outside our house! Having not done an African safari I do however think this is the next best thing, especially at half the price.
There is so much to see and do, mixed together with the driving, walking and boat safaris, then you throw in the beach and lake resort and you can easily entertain yourself and the kids for a week or more. When booking our accommodation and tickets, you also get entry into lots of other local attractions, which we didn't even get a chance to do.
I would say the only downside was the food. The restaurants were expensive and there weren't a lot of options. The best one to eat at if you do choose to eat out is at Hogan House, as the buffet was good. However the upside to each of the restaurants are the views of the animals, and the fact they have play parks for the kids (although there isn't really any play equipment for under three). In our lodge you did have a kitchen so you could easily self cater, as there are supermarkets a short drive away from the resort.
I would 100% recommended this place to anyone who loves animals or wants a holiday with a bit of a twist. My only piece of advice would be to avoid trying to see the animals on a really hot day as they all hide in the shade. We did one walk on a scorching hot day and hardly saw any animals then the next day it rained and stormed in the morning, so by the afternoon it was much cooler and they were all out in force!

It is a very nice park. We did a bus safari. The bus driver was so enthusiastic. She told us nice stories about the park, the animals and it was really fun to listen to her. Then we did a preying bird safari. It was also a fascinating show. Those birds were so gracious to see. Besides, we walked through the park. It's beautiful. And animals do look happy there. But the cutest thing was to see the three little elephants. The smallest one was just three days old. Super cute!
People working there are so friendly! We enjoyed this experience.

We stayed at Beekse Bergen in a Giraffe House. The kids loved staying onsite. The park itself is well laid out and spacious. The bus safari was enjoyable, but unfortunately we understood nothing as it was in Dutch (obvs not their fault) but our kids got quite bored as a result. The playgrounds scattered around the park were amazing. There was a great selection of snacks and cafes. All well priced too. We spent a full day there and the kids had a blast. We would highly recommend Beekse Bergen to families with young children.

Place for a day out with kids.
Jungle safari ride , or walk both are equally interesting . Plenty of parking space. Several food and snack options are available.
Light safari festival was lovely experience. Although the crowd was not managed properly , too crowded and a walking route of 20mins took more than 2hrs due to crowd.

We visited the light safari which was really nice. There were so many people which sometimes completely forced the crowd to a complete stop. Felt like walking in ultra slow motion most of the time e. Got a lot better past the half way bar.

We loved the Night Safari. It was beautiful and the prettiest lights we’ve seen. We came right at 5:00 on a Sunday night so it was busy. There are staff directing parking so that’s nice. I recommend coming later after 5:00 so it’s not so congested. When we left around 6:30, it wasn’t crowded at the gate at all. We walked through the whole thing in an hour. There are food and drink booths in the middle of the loop, and there is the Winterplein at the beginning/end with more food and drinks. We had warm waffles and hot dogs (not bratwurst) and it was decent. There were also frites and snacks booths.

A very nice place to spend time with your family. A bit of long distances to get sometimes from one place to another, due to the size of the entire resort/safari, but I would not consider it that big of a problem. Enjoyable night light safari show, walking around with amazing light structure.
The Bookstore Domincanen is a beautiful 13th century Dominican church that houses an indie bookstore selling diverse Dutch and English titles. The store is stunning, with sweeping arches and high ceilings, and attracts tourists from all over the world.
It's an amazing library inside an old church. The prices of books are standard and there is also a coffee area where to enjoy a reading. Most of the books are Dutch. However, you'll find some sections in different languages such as English, Spanish, French, German, etc. The place is worth a visit

Very beautiful book shop that is worth visiting. The book store fits very well in the old church and this way the architecture of the church can be appreciated. The book store is big and has several floors with books. There is also a cafe, but it is not worth visiting the cafe given there is excellent pie in places around the bookstore like the famous bisschopmolen bakkery.

A decent collection of recent English books that will be sold fast. No surprising findings. Nice postcards and stationery.
Unfortunately there was no cosy feeling of an independent bookstore because this place kind of lost itself among a tourist attraction, a church, a photo oppotunity and a bookstore.

While studying abroad in Maastricht, this bookstore was one of the coolest spots in town.
Not only does it represent the European mindset of reuse and repurpose, but the look and feel of this church turned bookstore was legendary! Filled to the brim with crisp paperbacks and a little shop you could get lost in for hours! The friendly staff, coffee shop, and quaint finds makes this bookstore a must see!

This bookshop is located in an old church. It is full of books, but nothing seems to touch the original structure. The love the way the old is mixed with the new.

Great bookstore. Friendly personnel. Gorgeous location. Easily spent three hours browsing the many books. The first floor is mainly Dutch books, stationary, etc. Along with a nice coffee spot. The second floor is mainly English books, and graphic novels. The third floor is second-hand books. This bookstore alone is reason enough to visit Maastricht.

Location of this book store is fantastic! There are enough books, however (only in my opinion) choice of English books is not that big. They have all the trend books for sure! And again, the bookstore itself is gorgeous!

Visually it is a very nice store. Very iconic location, but it's not the best 'book'store. But that might be a personal thing, I like my bookstores to sell books and little else. This store however is more all round and sells records, CDs and smaller items like mugs, calenders and notebooks. Certainly book related items but it might have had an impact as the bookselection felt a little limited, though that might also be a space thing. Despite the large square footage at its core its a fairly small store. As a bonus though, there was also a selection of second hand books.

Absolutely stunning location for a bookstore. If I had lived in Maastricht, you would find me here every day. There is a wide collection of Dutch books and a generous mix of English ones. The tourist attraction Fort Sint Pieter Maastricht Underground is a fascinating sight, as the caves there are made of limestone and were once a mining site. The tunnels and caves are a result of this mining, along with the settlement itself which is very cool with a fun tour that ends with an amazing view of the city. If you wish to leave the busyness of the city centre, this is definitely a tourist attraction you should visit.
The best tour guide with the nicest shoes ever! :)

It is a captivating blend of history and nature. The fortress, steeped in rich history and guided by knowledgeable experts, offers an immersive experience for history enthusiasts. What truly sets this site apart are the intriguing underground caves and tunnels, revealing the fort's military secrets. I was enchanted by the cool, dimly lit passageways, which add a mysterious charm to the visit. One of important historical landmark in Maastricht. It’s situated in the outskirts of the city, but accessible by walking or bus.
You can find this 19th century fort, situated on the top of the hill. Don’t worry, it’s just 125 metres from sea level, easy trek to reach the top.
Not sure about the entry inside the fort, but you can enjoy amazing view of the Maastricht city from the top of this hill.
Possibly there are guided tours to know about the fort, you can go with them to know more.
Plenty of parking spaces are available, if you are comfortable with car.

I love my experiences there with the lovely guide called Pauline. It was one of the best tours I have had so far. The tour, the guide, and the weather (on that day, not too hot or too cold) were perfect. I ended up knowing a lot more about the places and definitely will visit again because there are still more places underground that we didn't cover this time. Pauline suggested visiting again during the weekend to explore another area underground.
When you buy the ticket, you can choose either the fort or the cave. I recommend you do both. I think they are worth exploring.

Absolute must thing to do in Maastricht. The fort and the caves can be visited through the tours only (I think) and it is better to book in advance just to be sure. The tour would take you inside the fort from ground level to the top and explain the history of it. it was fascinating and last about an hour, the tickets for the tour and cave can be bought together. There is plenty of car parking available here but the best way is by the bike even though it is slight uphill, bike parking is where the restaurant is. Arriva bike is also available here. There is also a mini-golf.

Bokrijk Openluchtmuseum is one of the largest open-air museums in Europe showcasing Flanders' past through over 100 period buildings and furniture from before World War I. The museum offers a nostalgic view of village life and has undergone meticulous renovations since its establishment in 1958. While entrance is free after 5pm, it is recommended to spend at least three hours exploring the site properly.

We have been visiting this open-air museum for more than 40 years, and I think it is still wonderful. For my generation, born 1945 ..1955 it is probably a memory of the past, because in my living environment as a child there were still many old farms with smallholders and people farmed without a tractor and with a horse and cart. I myself have bound corn in sheaves and threshed it with a flail. That is why this museum really appeals to me.
It is also very nicely set up with beautiful hiking trails and also nicely divided into the different provinces / regions and you can taste the atmosphere of the past. There are also actors who bring a lively story in old costumes. People are present showing old crafts. There is children's entertainment through old children's games and children's workshops.
There are also some typical restaurants where you can eat dishes from the past.
While everything is becoming digital and museums can be replaced by virtual reality glasses, a day in Bokrijk is still the ultimate pleasure for me!

The items in the park were of diversity, from parks with flowers, to an exhibition of an old fashioned rich family house, to old sheds and buildings to show how life was in 19th century...everything is in dutch or English, easy to read. There are friendly park employees too who give information in most of the buildings. Overall a nice park, good for kids and a nice walk!

In Bokrijk, you can step back in time and experience what life was like in different periods. The museum has preserved historic buildings, including farmhouses, windmills, and craft workshops. These buildings provide a view into the daily lives of people from the past.
Bokrijk offers beautiful gardens and natural surroundings. The park area allows visitors to enjoy walking, picnics, and outdoor activities.

Highly recommend the current exhibit here : “Bouts and beyond” - an interactive audio tour tracing the history of Leuven, through this incredible Town Hall.

Spectacular building with a Flemish Gothic façade, although the remains of Leuven's first town hall, built in 1439 and located on the main square, are no longer preserved. It has been destroyed and rebuilt three times in the last hundred years, the last time after the Second World War.
On the outside we can see 236 statues, all of them of important figures in the history of the city, arranged by floors: on the ground floor we find academics and artists, on the ground floor religious figures, on the first floor members of the nobility and finally, at the top of the towers, scenes from the Bible are represented.

This city town hall is one of most beautiful hall, it's just stunning with the little detail of arts. Especially, with the sunset light reflex toward the Hall, just gorgeous.
The Groot Begijnhof Leuven is a heritage museum that preserves the religious and social history of women in Leuven, Belgium. The museum is located in the heart of the town, and it is a great place to wander through quiet streets lined with old brick houses and step-gabled brick houses with stone window frames. There are also a couple of pretty footbridges that cross the central stream.
Went on a weekend visit to Leuven and this place was breathtaking. So calm and peaceful yet holding a huge history. It used to be a residence of Nuns and now a UNESCO heritage site perfect for promenade 🤗

I’ve been to Begijnhoven all over Belgium. Probably because it is a mostly-Dutch/Belgian concept, but still. All of them have the same characteristics (green grass courtyards for washing clothes, little houses right next to each other and cosy streets, a church on the grounds, etc..) but what makes this one special is not-hidden in the name. It is pretty big. The one in Antwerp and Tongeren are small in comparison (not less cute though).
You’d be amiss not to stroll through this serene and walled-in area of Leuven, stubbing your toes against the cobblestones and wondering if people still live here (spoiler: a lot of students still do).

A beautiful tiny town built inside another beautiful town, Leuven.
It is an official UNESCO world heritage site, built in 1232, it's a place of silence and rest, where students, professors and visitors from abroad live to be near of the University

Beautiful relaxing place totally worth a visit when in Leuven. Its a well deserved Unesco site. The history of the Beguines is worth exploring as a movement challenging traditions and cultures, and alternative points of view.

The best Begijnhof in Belgium in my opinion. And Belgium has a lot of beautiful ones! But this particular one is stunning. We visited on a weekday and it was so peaceful.

The begijnhof neighborhood in Leuven is recognized by UNESCO as a world heritage site (along with other begijnhofs in Flanders). It feels as though you’re stepping back in time while walking through the immaculately well-maintained streets admiring the old stone roads and the red brick buildings. A professor at the local university informed us that the residents are a mix of established locals as well as university students. Irrespective of the profiles of the neighborhood’s inhabitants, it is extremely serene, quiet and feels safe even walking alone late at night. While it is a good hike from the train station and a bit away from the center of town, make the trip to the begijnhof for a step back in time.

I love this place because I can feel the lives of people in the past and now. Small windows with non-flat glasses and their live through the windows attract me and make me go back to past. Bumpy stone-paved road help me to imagine the world without cars.

Gives you a very old colonial vibe as soon as you step into the streets. Its a well preserved beguinage containing numerous houses and apartments and is owned by the University for its housing needs. With beautiful brick houses, stone walkways, canals and a garden…this is a must visit spot in Leuven

Very nice old district, we had luck to be there at Sunday evening. It was almost empty, very calm, with romantic flair and seldom pedestrians passing the streets. Definitely one "must-see" during the visit to Loeven!

UNESCO WH site. Gorgeous and well restored housing which is now used for student accommodation in Leuven.
Free to access and wonder around, quietness is encouraged as the place is quiet and peaceful so visitors are encouraged to keep noise to a minimum.
Walking distance from Leuven city centre.
One thing I did notice was the lack of bins and seating areas to take a break during the walk.

A must-see historical site if you want to see a wonderfully restored old village compound once inhabited by hundreds of women from the religious order of the beguines. The beguinage covers a relatively large area intertwined with a river, a lot of green, magnificent historical buildings and the beguin church, open to the public. The site is inhabited by a few happy students and university professors who would be pleased with a bit of silence. In other words: a tourist location but no typical attraction for noisy kids or anyone looking for a coffee place, restaurant or souvenir shop. Only paid parking spots can be found in the near vicinity. Wheelchair access is challenging since the compound is paved with cobblestones.

Really calm and nice place, worth a visit if you are in the area
Saint Rumbold's Cathedral, built in the 1200s, is a magnificent Gothic structure featuring stunning artwork such as a Van Dyck crucifixion scene and stained-glasswork in the apse. The cathedral also boasts a monumental pulpit from 1723 and two beiaard carillons in its soaring 15th-century tower which dominate the city skyline. Additionally, it houses an excellent organ dedicated to Flor Peeters, their famous Cathedral organist.
Not only to visit Cathedral, but the Tower as well next to it and nice playing spot for kids next to Cathedral. There is no toilet, but around the corner there is open public one. Visitmechelen.be is your guide for a beautiful gate away options! Mechelen with love!

Especially beautiful, definitely worth seeing. I will definitely come back and recommend other people to visit. Regarding the price, very reasonably, for people up to 27 years old the price was 3 euros. There is also an underground parking lot nearby, the price is affordable.

This church is a true gem. If you read Ken Follet’s books you can feel the story and imagine how much ingenuity and work it took to built this masterpiece. Stand at the top of the tower and admire the town below and think of the efforts of people that built it. Entrance to the tower costs 8 euros, but it is worth it including your sweat making all those hundreds of stairs. Church possesses some impressive pieces of art. Even some resembling Flemish primitives, also Cocxie, Van Dyck.

I've been knowing the Cathedral all my life as Mechelen is my home town. Since I live abroad it's always a pleasure seeing the cathedral again, whether it's from hind and far or from close-by.
I can really utterly recommend to visit the cathedral when you spend a few days in Mechelen. You can even walk all the way up to the Skywalk and enjoy the wonderful vistas!

Beautiful cathedral ⛪️ It a must visit place when visiting to Mechelen ❤️ If You Have Time And Can Climb then Go to The Top of the tower which have 600 plus steps to get to know the history of the Mechelen and 360 view of the city from the top 🫶🏻

The cathedral itself is free to enter a worth looking around. You pay to go up the tower and it's worth the fairly modest cost. There are 500 steps up, but there are several floors on the way, several devoted to the old carillon and new carillon. Carillons are a keyboard instrument that plays bells of all sizes and it's fascinating to see one playing and also watch the clock mechanism. The view from the top is also great.

Beautiful cathedral. Excellent organ dedicated decades ago by their famous Cathedral organist, Flor Peeters. Beautiful stained glass, statuary, and paintings. TWO fine carillons (beiaard) in the tower, played weekly on Saturdays during Market at 11:30 and Sundays at 15:00. Monday night recitals @ 20:00 in the Summer through half of September.

I didn't expect in this small town has a beautiful cathedral like this. And it's just next to the Makt, worth to visit and full with history, especially its painting. Recommended.

What a beautiful cathedral! Loved the baroque arches (similar to many others in other parts of belgium) and the amazing architecture and artistry that is exhibited in the edifice. The grandness and luxury of these cathedrals are totally astonishing. It is free to enter, but 8€ if u wish to climb the tower itself to the lookout. The climb is only available in the afternoons i believe.

Fabulous place, didn't manage to climb the tower, dodgy knees, and no toilet facilities on the way up or at the top. But two.of our party did and said it was amazing.

Beautiful cathedral, visited during the Christmas season, the inside is less gilded than some of the other large cathedrals in Brussels or Antwerp but there is a collection of stunning artwork and the outside is beautiful to walk around

Impressive cathedral as you expect one to be in Flanders. The art is outstanding with Antoon Van Dyck’s “Christ on the cross” stealing the show. Stained glass windows and elaborate woodwork is also worth enjoying. While the entrance to the cathedral is free, you need to pay an extra fee to climb up the belfry. I visited on a Saturday and enjoyed a big and crowded open market right in front of the cathedral.
