Beautiful place! Visit while the sun is up and you'll get an amazing view at the top

Interesting trip out of Rovaniemi, not a lot out there but the features are very intriguing if you like natural features.

Interesting place with some good hiking trails and beautiful nature. There's a hut with a toilet you can rent, unfortunately both are closed if you just happen to come by. The place itself is very clean but some people decided to throw empty cans into the holes.

Great place to visit. The giant hole is very interesting to see , and it is also a great place to climbing up on the rocks and wall...

Nice little hike, stay here for 1 hour and you can see a lot! Nice with dogs, because it's quiet.

Only go here in summer. It is not the most popular place so the snow is very difficult to walk on - it was the longest 2km walk from the road because our feet were constantly sinking in the snow. My feet are still wet 5 days later.
Once there, it really wasn’t worth it. Maybe it’s nicer in summer when you can explore more. In late April it was too icy and the snow was too think and unstable so I didn’t climb so much.

An interesting place to explore. The path is not really difficult to take, even our 88 years old friend could make it (he's quite in shape for his age though). It is sad that the trek was really short.

Interesting geological formations. Paths and stairs between the formations. Some of the stairs might be with quite small steps so be careful. You might also spot some rock climbers or bouldering climbers there.
Arctic Emotions Oy and Willow Field BnB are wonderful places in the heart of the Lapland wilderness. The hosts, Elina, Ilkka and Pauliina, are very friendly and make sure that everyone has a wonderful time. Activities on offer include hiking, biking, skiing and snowshoeing. The scenery is absolutely stunning and guests can even see the Northern Lights if they are lucky.
The most wonderful stay to experience the authentic Lapland. 100% recommendable!

Regarding the day, she had prepared a superb picnic for us which we took in a cabin on the edge of a frozen lake around a good wood fire: vegetable soup, typical bread, cheese, sausages cooked over a wood fire, coffee and homemade berry pie! She explained to us the different animal tracks, the trees and lots of things about Lapland! We even tried our hand at ice fishing. Regarding the accommodation, it was perfect and authentic with a built-in and included wood-fired sauna. He had everything he needed to feel good. Elina was available and attentive. She took the time to explain to us how to do the sauna. We highly recommend booking with Artic emotion oy for an authentic and typical experience to be completed with a few nights at her place! Thanks again for everything Elina! If you are looking for an authentic Sámi experience you can go there with your eyes closed.

The offerings are not very touristy (which is exactly what we were looking for) and very authentic - we went to a reindeer farm, fed reindeer and then drank coffee with the owners. We went ice fishing and snowshoeing followed by dinner by the open fire - it's exactly what you dream of in Lapland. Elina and Ilkka are very welcoming and we would love to come back.

The Kierikki Stone Age Centre is an impressive museum located along the banks of the Iijoki river, which is home to significant Stone Age settlements. The exhibits showcase a number of ancient artifacts, including wooden fences used for fishing. Visitors can delve into excavation histories through a video presentation and explore period buildings on a boardwalk overlooking the picturesque riverbank.
I was here on a university placement for 28 days, working on experimental archaeological projects at the site. I was not employed by the site, and did not work there.
The location is two parts; the first is a museum, showing some of the local finds and parts of prehistoric culture. This provided a lot of information on Finnish culture and the local area.
The second part is the prehistoric village, which is approximately 500m walk away. This show interpretations of Finnish structures such as log houses, and a sauna.
They also have a trap trail, which is some 400m long, displaying different types of traps used for hunting different animals.
The walk to the village and around the trap trail is via wooden decking, which bar one spot is wheelchair accessible. The spot is a short stretch of slope, again with wooden decking which is accessible to wheelchairs but I would find it difficult to push a wheelchair up or down the slope. In the village itself is a combination of sand, gravel, and hard soil. It is fully possible to push around a wheelchair here but I would recommend watching where you go, and it might not be possible to enter the buildings.
The staff as a whole were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. As soon as guests enter the site, they will be greeted by a staff member and the area explained.
Around the site are a couple of different activities, such as archery, canoeing in a log canoe, painting using ochre or making a stone necklace.
I think as a visitor, it is very easy to spend half a day at the village itself, trying out the different things.
This museum is well worth a visit, but is an hour travel outside of Oulu so plan accordingly.

If you're in the area, this is a must. Beautiful grounds, super helpful staff, remarkable architecture for the stone age, simply a very enjoyable hands on experience.
Mohammad Ali — Google review
Nice and well presented exhibition, also interesting building in its own, and a nice walk amongst the excavation sites and replica buildings. Many activities, archery, jewelry making, boat rowing and when we visited they had a mini blues concert and a live chainsaw sculpture making contest!
I had to deduct one star for the lunch buffet. Not a single item was home made, not even the mashed potatoes! I hope this was due to us eating pretty late lunch, even though I don't think so.
So, go for a visit and bring mosquito repellent to enjoy the outdoor part more, but maybe skip the lunch! :)

Informative and a lot of fun! There are several interesting activities you can try out:
- making your own stone jewellery
- archery
- rowing on a stone age boat
- dressing up in costume for a photo (this activity is in the museum indoors)
The workers there were very open and helpful. The surrounding forest and walking paths are very pleasant.
Natalia Neustroeva — Google review
The seaside was there several thousand years ago, where the river ended. Probably it was excellent fishing place at that time. There was excavation on that area, thus we know lot of things about our ancestors.
János Mizsei — Google review
This was a great stop over. It is 10€ to get in and we'll worth it. The people who work there are very friendly and give plenty of information. Making your own stone jewelry is super fun. They also have archery and stone painting. You can also canue on the river in a log boat as well. The signs are in English as well and very interesting. You can even bring your own sausages and grill on the fire in the stone age house over an open pit.

Guided tour of the life of Stone Age people. Super informative and interactive. Best enjoyed during sunny weather!

BRING YOUR OWN SAUSAGES. Fire available, but no sausages.
Outdoor experience good for all ages, recommend a game of "Why did they do this?" with children so they can see people were smart back when as well.
Stone Age archery and other crafts available.

Tietomaa Science Centre is a large museum with interactive exhibits that allow visitors to explore the human body and planets. It features a 35m-high IMAX screen, an observation tower, and an annually changing mega-exhibition. The museum caters to families with smaller children and offers discounts for students. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of Oulu from the observation tower. Opening hours vary, so it is recommended to check the online calendar before visiting.
Good place for kids, teenagers and adults!
So much to test out (and get better at).
We liked the 3D film as well (diosaurs).

This is an interesting museum with tons of hands on and interactive displays. There is also a 3D cinema. We visited on a weekday and the museum was virtually empty and we had the space to ourselves. The place is perfect for kids of all ages - the museum is fun and enjoyable, and a certain favorite with families. The café offers a decent selection of snacks and refreshments. There is also a small museum shop.

A centre of science exhibits targeted towards kids. Also provides entry to the tower that gives a panoramic view of the Oulu city. Unfortunately, in winter, the glass lift is usually frozen and view is hampered. would like to try in summer.

There are some things that do not 100% function and there is some work to do, for example in the tower. 3D movie was worth it (now playing a movie about a dinosaur)

I don't lie if I say that this is top 3 places in Oulu. We visited it with our friends (20-22 y.o.) and we felt like kids! All the games are so fun and there is also the scientific explanation of few things. In addition, you can go to the highest point of the city and take a look at it.

A bit like Heureka in Helsinki. But its a lot smaller and is more oriented for smaller children and families. It was quite cheap though: for students with a student card or certificate, you will get two tickets for the price of one. It was quite interesting and there is a tower you can climb that has awesome views to Oulu. I recommend this place for families with smaller children. It will take around 2 hours to go around it.

A great place to explore some inventions, find out how the things come into our lives. Also, there is a glass lift to enjoy Oulu town from above.
On the last floor are games toys and other funny things to play with children or challenge each other.

An interactive science museum in downtown Oulu. There are dozens of experiments and hands-on exhibits. It's great for kids, but older ones will have fun too. A special highlight is the museum's own 3D cinema with hourly screenings and a high tower from which you can look out over the city. The entrance fee is comparatively expensive, but you get a lot of different things for it.
Very cool museum with 40+ aircraft of all uses and sizes. This is accompanied ons of models and also very informative panels about the history of Finnish aviation including interesting backstories of the blue swastika and home-made planes Tiira. Another cool feature is that you can sit in real cockpits of two real fighter jets (just the cockpit part present in this case).
Part of the exhibits are outside but most of the museum is hosted indoors.
Jiří Marvan — Google review
Very good a museum, it has a lot history and knowledge to read about. The exhibition is well-organized and marked. Feels like walking back to the history. There are plenty city buses from Jyväskylä. The small giftshop and cafe is clean and friendly. Overall it is a great museum! The cockpit experience is amazing and you can also book flight simulator in advance.

Awesome place for the aviation nerd 🤣 Got two and a half SAAB J35 Drakens... the half being a front with a cockpit that you may sit inside (along MiG-21 too, so you can compare the east vs. west experience). The exposition is focused on Finnish air forces alone, and is very rich, extensive and well organised. Time very well spent!
Michał Sacharewicz — Google review
Military museum with moderate size in space and moderate number of collections. Anyway, the visitors can catch a glimpse of Finnish military aviation history. Artifacts on exhibition range from the earliest wooden- metallic surveillance plane to full-metal fighter jet, from the retired planes to shot-down planes. Worth a visit if you are keen to know Finnish air force history.

The museum itself is pretty good. There's an amazing selection of airplanes! My only disappointment was that there was very little information in English without putting in extra effort. That said, English is not an official language in the country. I'm just very used to being spoiled in the other museums and galleries that i have did while in Finland.
kfour ten — Google review
Cool place...fun stuff..have around 30 fighter planes and in couple of then yu can actually go inside and have an experience inside the cockpit of fighter jet. One can easily spend 2 hrs here, so plan accordingly. The best part is the museum tells history of foghter planes in finland from 1910s to now and the engines too. So, you can also have a closer look on engines and how they evolved with time as well as planes and their evolution with time. Most of the fighter planes had donated from finnish air force and. You can also buy soveniers too. The place have a tiny cafeteria, where yu can get coffee and some bakery stuff.
Amar Raj — Google review
The museum overall is nicely setup with signage being mostly in English and Finnish. The museum has a nice collection of aircraft from the start of the Finnish Air Force, to the more recent era.
It was nice to see a wide array of aircraft in Finnish colors, especially the world's only Brewster Buffalo and a Hawker Hurricane. I think that the overall pricing of the museum is reasonable for what you get, and I love the fact that they have balconies that allow you to overlook most of the aircraft. The one major downside to the museum is the terrible indoor lighting that casts a nasty orange tint on everything inside.
Joel Cooke — Google review

Finland has a rich and varied aviation history. This museum has a wide array of aircraft reflecting the diversity of the Finnish air force fleet. Aircraft from the USA, Russia, UK, Sweden, France, Germany and perhaps more! The exhibitions bring the aircraft to life and give an in depth look into the Finnish contributions during WW2 and the cold war. A great way to spend an afternoon for the whole family!

An absolute paradise in the middle of ...nowhere :-)... Well, at least in the middle of the forest. Compared to several Finnish and European amusement parks, this is a genuine pearl. Safe, no worries that the kids will be lost, everybody very friendly. And, even the owner can be seen. True spirit. Some machinery may be quite old, but who cares, when everybody from age of one to early teens really enjoy. And for us 50+, this is a trip to the past. Highly recommended.

Nice place to stay, clean, confortable and Ok priced. 15min to Helsinki City centre with train that leaves just around the corner.
Marko Heinonen — Google review
This place is for kids only, no rides are designed with adults in mind. The "mörkömetsä" (spooky forest path) part of the park is laughably bad - the maps they hand out of it paint a picture of various funnily spooky locations, in reality what you will encounter are a few painted rocks, deteriorating plastic props and twigs. Incredibly corny. They advertise to have one of the largest retro arcades in Finland: in reality, only a handful of games are playable. If you are interested in the history of old slot machines and coin operated "payazzos" (pajatso, a traditional finnish gambling arcade game), they do have a dozen of these rare machines on display. Granted, there are a lot of rides, although most of them are really old. Free entry makes up for a lot of the shortcomings.
Jani Nummela — Google review
Our 3 year old had an amazing time, lots of rides and everyone was super friendly.

A tiny, real, authentic and most of all sympathetic amusement park FOR KIDS. No record-breaking rides here. Cotton candy, ice cream and a lot of happy kids here.
While it doesn't look like much from the outside, this museum is a real treasure. It has an amazing exhibition of the history and evolution of various trades and crafts in Finland. The best part is the workshop. Chock-full of all kinds of supplies and tools, you can let your inspiration guide you. There's a booklet with various suggestions, but these can be used as points of departure for your imagination. It's a perfect place to come with kids, especially on a rainy day as you can easily spend hours in the workshop. Kids go for free, adult tickets are 8 Euro.
E K — Google review
I'm not much of a museum person, but my Finnish wife thought this would be an interesting visit. I enjoyed it. Tickets were around 8 Euros a piece. They also had a lot of nice history with the outfits that people wore in the past as well as how they did linens and other things within the home. It took probably an hour to walk through and look at everything. A nice collection and it is displayed quite well.

Very disappointing, we went mainly for the temporary exhibition through the pinhole which seemed to have absolutely no relation to the online description had none of the things promised on it and turned out just to be a collection of photographs. The permanent exhibition was interesting if you are really into fabrics but had little information on the costumes, however the rooms are very dark to preserve the costumes and there is little attempt at interactivity also apparently the Sami do not exist in their world.
There is the art museum which was rather wonderful just up the street from it which is highly recommended. (In reply to there reply) pretty much none of what you claim was available in your reply was there... I have no idea what you saw but it wasn't the same as we experienced

Lovely place to visit. Something for every sense, the permanent exhibition has a lovely showing of Finnish handicrafts throughout history in many ways. Make sure to look at the drawers near the floor. The changing exhibitions has also been awesome every time I've been there. Cheap for what you get and lots of Finnish design on sale in the gift.
Amazing museum. Make sure to leave some time to visit to see it all. Play games (English and Finnish), beautiful displays and incredibly helpful staff. So glad we went.

A certainly unique church made entirely out of wood. What distinguishes it from other similar churches in Finland is that it has been preserved in its original state so its current visitors can time travel to 18th century and admire this gem.

One of the best wooden churches I have been to - very quaint, simple, unique & well-preserved! A must visit if you are in Jyvaskala.

Lovely to see this online, hope to visit one day, my relatives are from this area and would be wonderful to go there.
The photo of the old church in the frame I put up, is an old one that I inherited from my mother years ago.

Beautiful log church built in the mid 1700's.

Beautiful old wooden church. Definitely worth visiting!
Ronald van Dieen — Google review
The church is really nice, something that you rarely would see somewhere else as it is entirly made with wood. The church is small, but it's really interesting both for the architecture and for the history. If you're visiting it in winter remember to wear warm clothes as the church is not heated.
Alice Lunghi — Google review
Beautiful old wooden church surrounded by small cemetery and a lake. The interior is well preserved, all paints are original from 18th century. Very atmospheric place, smell of the wood can be felt as soon as you enter. Wonderful pulpit with unique style angels and other figures. Sacristy with small exhibition of old coins, chests and other stuff. A wheelchair available for those with reduced mobility. Very friendly and informative staff, Johanna from the ticket office is very knowledgeable and passionate about the church and is ready to show you around and answer all questions. If you are lucky enough, you will have the place for yourself as it happened to me on final day of August. Highly recommended to visit, be aware that 31st August 2023 was (sadly) last opening day in the summer.
Compact, modern mall offering many retailers, including department & grocery stores, plus cafes.
Lots of different shops and restaurants. Hairdresser, nails maker, shoe maker, phone fixer, lots of different cloth shops, phone shops, opticians, sports stores, pet stores, alcohol store, pharmacies, superstores (prisma, citymarket), Art gallery, home device stores, etc.

The only mall in Hyvinkää where you get anything and everything you'd need to get through your week.

One of the best shopping centers in Finland. Excellent selection of stores and restaurants in the heart of Hyvinkää. Two large hypermarkets and 140 other stores are waiting for your visit.
My #1 in customer service quality in Finland.
Jami Virtanen (The NCV) — Google review
Probably the weirdest mall in Finland. The mall itself is hard to navigate with its strange layout and multiple levels that only cover part of the mall each. To top it off, they've limited the parking to 2-4 hours. This is as if to say, buy quickly and get out. Don't eat here, and for God's sake do NOT hang around and enjoy your visit!
I wouldn't put up a restaurant here. Although the are a few optimists that do try to make it. And ofcourse you'll find the two major food chains of Finland here, like anyplace Finland.
Tuukka Uusheimo — Google review
Nice place to hangout with friends. And has many good shops like Alko for example. 👍 Restaurants and coffee shops also very good quality. Only security let too many homeless people in toilets and I do not recommend using toilets here. 😑
Tomi Turunen — Google review
All of Finland's cities have one or a couple of malls that houses all the major store chains from food, clothing, hospitality, healthcare and other necessities. Willa shopping center was on these lines. There was an info desk complete with brochures and guides for Hyvinkaa. It even houses a museum and an art gallery.

It's a relatively small museum, but there are some interesting engines and railway cars.
The other two exhibitions - are not that great, basically just posters with old pictures and lot of texts, hence one star less.
But generally, well worth a visit!

Great and interesting museo to get to know finnish railway history. Area is very attractive.

One of the most interesting museums in Finland. The Uusimaa area is full of quirky modern art museums so it’s exciting to visit a history themed one that provides insight into the development of not only railway but also technology and the entire country as a whole. The museum’s premise is large, with many things to see and experience.

Very nice attraction for train and history enthusiasts. The museum includes tens of trains and engines, the most interesting ones are the restored Russian Imperial cabins. There is a cafe outside in the beautiful yard and a little museum shop inside. Near the cafe there is a little park train making a tour around the yard (check operating times, they are close earlier than the museum). Park train is free for people with museum tickets, others pay 1€. Most of the exhibition can be seen inside so that bad weather does not matter.

Great to see the train so close up. Beautiful and huge trains. Did not think i would have enjoyed coming here. But it is worth the trip.
Porvoo Cathedral, located in the enchanting Porvoo Old Town, is a small 13th-century cathedral that was originally constructed with wood and later fortified with stone walls. The cathedral, an Evangelical Lutheran church built in the 15th century with some parts dating back to the 13th century, stands as one of Finland's oldest churches. It serves as the seat of the Swedish-speaking Diocese of Borga and offers a picturesque view from the nearby hill.
Entry was not allowed inside… Quaint idyllic place to sit. There is a restaurant SALT bang opposite for some great food!
Debapratim Dey — Google review
It's closed when we arrived so we didn't get to see the inside. From the exterior, it's alright. Nothing spectacular. But the view of the town from here was nice. As we understand, this is one of the highest points in Porvoo. Surrounding the cathedral is rich with history, with plenty of beautiful buildings dated back centuries. Perhaps we'll get a better feel when we visit again during summertime.
Its A Wonderful Life — Google review
As a tourist, I have such mixed feelings from this place. There is a playground for children to play inside of the cathedral, which is very nice. At the same time, there is a big "Silence!" sign right at the entrance of the church, and also at some other places, making the church looking very cold for people entering the building.
In any case, this is the monument of the town. Not the nicest building, architecturally speaking. But it stands out on the hill and you can't miss it almost on any of your pictures.

This is an old cathedral but very nicely maintained. It is situated at some height hence visible and gives picturesque view when watched from the nearby hill. While of the Porvoo is a very beautiful old town which is conserved because of its colourful wooden houses. The environment around cathedral is very peaceful.

Very peculiar and beautiful city. Small, narrow streets and on each side wooden houses of different colors. Very careful and clean. Be careful that all shops and businesses close at 5 p.m. There are a couple of cafes down near the river that are very good to spend the afternoon whenever the weather is good. You can explore the city walking through the old center in an afternoon.

Warm B&B in a circa-1600s building offering rustic rooms, plus a lounge, a sauna & free Wi-Fi.
The apartment we stayed in was even nicer in real life than the pictures showed. We were very happy about our stay, and the staff was very service-oriented and accommodating to our needs. We could check in a little bit earlier than usual, and also leave our luggage for some hours after checking out, while we were strolling around in the old town before taking out bus back to Helsinki. Thank you for a wonderful comfortable stay!

Breakfast by The fireplace was fabulous with chocolade of Brunberg😀😀😀
Brunberg is a renowned chocolate shop located in Porvoo, Finland. For those unable to visit the physical store, there's the option of purchasing their delectable sweets from their online Webshop. The shop offers a wide range of Brunberg chocolates and sweets, including options suitable for gifting. Visitors have praised the friendly service and highlighted new vegan and lactose-free offerings. The quaint shop provides a charming atmosphere with reasonable prices for its high-quality products.

It is not always easy for me to fly to Finland and go to Porvoo just to buy delicious chocolate. Luckily, Brunberg offers, for fans like me, a Webshop. It is of course not the same as buying my chocolate in the beautiful shop in the old Street but I can at least get my chocolate supply until my next visit to Porvoo.

Museum home of composer Sibelius in the villa where he lived with his family from 1904-1957.
This house is mostly as it was when the great composer and his family lived here (like a time capsule). I believe the gardens around the house inspired Sibelius.

Kuusijärvi, located just north of Helsinki in Vantaa, is a popular year-round recreational center offering various activities for families and visitors. In the summer, it's known for its excellent swimming facilities and sandy beach, while in winter, it offers cross-country skiing opportunities. One of its highlights is the public smoke sauna called Savusauna, providing a unique experience for visitors to enjoy the sauna before cooling off with a swim in Lake Kuusijarvi.

○The smoke sauna is impressive from the preparation scene, and the high-temperature sauna with an electric stove was renovated in 2018.
○Lake bath in the forest
○ Forest bathing in the pleasant smell of smoke from the smoke sauna
This sauna is located in a national park, about 15 minutes by taxi from Vantaa Airport.
The two small smoke sauna rooms, which require time to prepare, are open from 1:00 p.m., the large sauna room is open from 2:00 p.m., and the electric stove sauna is available from 9:00 p.m.
Once you pass through the changing room, you will find large and small electric saunas for men and women, both of which allow you to self-sauna while looking out at the lake from the window.
The smoke sauna, where smoke rises from the building into the sky, is impressive from the preparation stage.
When you step inside, you will find a dark sauna room darkened by smoke. In the air where your eyes are slightly stinging, when you do the ro-ryu, there is a unique feeling of heat that gradually spreads over you for a long time.
The large smoke sauna doesn't feel too overwhelming to the eye, and the tall interior has a much better darkness and atmosphere. Entering with a single board adds to the authentic feel.
After the sauna, dive into the lake that stretches out in front of you.
Afterwards, bathing in the forest air in front of the lake, the atmosphere and the smell of smoke are irreplaceable.
There is also a cafe attached, making it an easy-to-use facility for adjusting your time before or after going to the airport.

I stay around 6kms away from this place. It’s just two months since I landed in Finland and this place has already attracted me so much.
I have been to this place twice so far. I take a walk on the side of the woods, take the 1.8 kms lake circle walk, feel the fresh chill breeze, journal for sometime.
I love the tranquility and calmness of this place. The nature at its best.
There is a proper swimming partition on one side of the lake and there are free saunas available. You can see lots of people taking bath even in end of autumn and beginning of winter.
When you visit here plan to spend some good amount of time. There is also a grill available outside on the other side, so if you wanna have some grills and enjoy the nature, its a perfect place.

The gallery and millieu are wonderful. Exhibitions included interesting works and gallery has a nice little shop. They also have a good looking restaurant that has quite minimalistic menu. Minimalistic is fine, if the food is good. I ate halloumi salad and it was quite bad. It had regular dry salad with can corn, cucumber and water melon. It had almost no oil/balsamico/dressing so it was dry and boring. Bathrooms were nice and clean but they should mark them all as unisex. Will go again and give the restaurant a new opportunity.

A hidden gem at the most beautiful location. Lovely and funky art. The small cafe might be a bit pricey, but for the museum being free to enter it doesn't bother. The brunch looked gorgeous, which I have to give a try next time! The most well designed and decorated seasonally, such pleasing for the eye and mind. There's a beautiful forest road which you can drive slowly, just enjoy the nature. On summers there's Highland cows on the field which you can stop to watch ☺️💕 I highly recommend!
The largest tropical water amusement park in Helsinki has pools with slides, jacuzzis and saunas for all ages, plus outdoor activities and accommodation. The park is open from 9am to 10pm daily and offers a unique relaxing experience for all. There is also a large wave pool for those who want to get wet and have some fun.
For 26€ (there are offers too) you can spend the whole day in the park, from opening to closing. you can take your own food and there are tables inside for eat. The kids have a lot of fun and adults too, not all the slides are for very young kids.

Serena is the best water park in Finland and open all year, although the outdoor attractions are closed during the winter season. About half of the water slides are indoors, and the indoor area is warm all year. The park offers waterslides for the whole family, and the biggest ones serve also the slightly daring ones.
A mediocre restaurant offers burgers, a buffet lunch and some smaller snacks and during summer time there is also an ice cream kiosk.
Serena is a great day trip distance on a beautiful summer day.

Water park in Espoo, This park was opened in 1989 and you can feel it as well. The showers are in poor condition, only one shower on the men's side had a temperature control. The other two were broken. There were showers on the back wall, but you can only turn them on and there is no possibility of adjustment of anykind.
The food was expensive, so we didn't stay to eat.
In the summer, this can be a nice place when the outdoor pools are in use, but for the moment I can't recommend

Our experience at Serena Water Park this evening was unfortunately marred by a concerning sanitary issue (excrements in the water in the swimming pool). Despite bringing it to the attention of the guards and staff, there seemed to be confusion on how to address the situation. Finally no actions were taken to resolve the issue or notify visitors. It's important for the staff to be adequately trained on how to respond to such situations promptly and appropriately to ensure the safety and comfort of visitors. Very disappointed with such poor customer care and indifferent attitude.

So Awesome!
A really great place for young and older kids alike.
Adults have fun too. The Villi Virta can truly be a bumpy ride, don't take any child who's not a strong swimmer.
Bring a friend. The lockers require 2€ coins to operate, so bring some of those too. Bring water bottles and snacks, like orange slices, chocolate and salt crackers for when the kids get dehydrated and grumpy. The buffet is standard, quality Finnish food at average prices.
Excellent atmosphere. Very clean. Showing need of maintenance. Wheelchair accessible.
10/10 Thank you. Will happily return soon.

I would like to give this place more stats because it's actually fun to go to with the kids. But the place really could use a renovation. The ceiling is literally almost falling off, the locker rooms are small, showers are awkward to maneuver through, grout is coming out of the tiles, and the ceiling is leaking. That said it wasn't dirty like people said. It feels like they do clean it often. Still, a fun place to take my kids. Hope they renovate soon!

The place was nice and there was lots of fun to be had for the kids, I would suggest that you visit when the sun is shining as the outside area is lots of fun. Down side is that it’s showing it’s age a bit and could probably do with a renovation. I thought the entry price for the family was quite steep and you had to pay for parking as well! Changing room showers were a bit smelly

The Helsinki Central Railway Station is a beautiful and awe-inspiring building located in the heart of Helsinki, Finland. The station was newly designed in 1909 to modernize it and accommodate the ever-growing demand for rail transportation. The two statues at the station symbolize the whole Finnish railway system, which has gained success thanks to recent TV commercials.
Quite well maintained, with all necessary information about trains departing and arriving. You can find couple of decent cafeteria and fast food shops if you want to grab something quick before your long journey.

One month living in Finland, out of the capital, visited this kinda iconic place is exciting. Maybe because of winter, the light makes the surround looks gloomy. However, Helsinki rain station is really big with a lot of facility. But I haven't check the toilet condition. I hope they have a toilet with water jet (bidet).

Helsingi central station is very pretty and fabulous! The building is very attractive with the high chandeliers and you can always feel the pre-historical about it. So many restaurants and cafe chains do you don’t have to worry getting lost or starving. It’s also walking distance to so many touristy objects you can visit.

The luggage deposit has lots of luggage lockers of different sizes. As of FEB2023 you could pay in cash only (a machine nearby changes 5,10,20 eur notes to coins). 4 eur for a day I think, for a locker for 2 backpacks. Easy and convenient, lots of signs to reach it.

Inside this iconic Central Railway Station, one could get a train to the airport. This was thus the junction between the airport and city centre. There were a lot of convenience stores inside railway station. For instance, the R-kioski and Burger King. In particular the Burger King was well decorated in a classical way and didn’t seem like a fast food store that you encountered in other big cities around the world. The gigantic humanoid statues, each of which held a ball between their hands, were unforgettable.

The primary hub for commuter and long-distance trains departing from Helsinki, Finland, is the Helsinki Central Station since 1862. It sees roughly 400,000 daily visitors, with around 200,000 being passengers.

Beautiful Eliel Saarinen designed main railway station in Central Helsinki. All Finland local and far destinations. Central Finland Tampere, Mikkeli, Savonlinna, Jyvaskyla, Vaasa and Rovaniemi. Day and night trains, sleepers with drive-on car transport. Trains are very much on time unless rarely there is fog or heavy ice. Long distance trains have restaurant car, large windows with great countryside viewing.

The main train station of Helsinki, the architecture of the station looks majestic from the outside. We took the Santa Claus Express from this station, and the information boards are informative. There are many shops around and below this station, and it connects to the metro, tram and buses.
The trains connecting Helsinki and the Vantaa International Airport arrives and departs from here too, beside the InterCity tracks. The I and P trains depart regularly to and fro, and takes at most 30 to 40 minutes to the airport.
Our only complaint is that there are limited public seating available at the platforms, and you'll need to pay to sit at any of the restaurants facing the tracks. There are also people smoking on the platforms sometimes, which affects the waiting experience.

This place is a fantastic train station! 🚉 Helsingin päärautatieasema is the central train 🚆 station in Helsinki 🇫🇮 which has service to the many cities 🏙️ of Finland (Tampere, and more). This is also were you can catch the Santa 🎅 Express Night 🌃 Train 🚂 to Rovaniemi to visit the Santa Christmas 🎄 Village! 🏡 The station is super close to the mall and is accessible by tram 🚊 too (line 2). It also has lots of food options, coffee shops ☕, and a restaurant! 🍴 I wish I came here earlier!

Very big train station with lots of entrances. There's also at least twenty platforms, so be aware of which one you are going to. The architecture is also nice.

Famous for its neoclassical cathedral, Helsinki Cathedral is one of the two major churches in Finland. The green dome is a recognizable landmark and the church is used for important events by the government and university.
Beautiful and iconic cathedral located in the centre of Helsinki, capital of Finland is a must visit, located at the Senate Square. The church was originally built from 1830–1852 as a tribute to the Grand Duke of Finland, Tsar Nicholas I of Russia. It is a major landmark of the city, and possibly the most famous structure in Finland as a whole when viewed globally. It's equally beautiful during the day and night time. The day we went it was not too crowded, we could sit peacefully to offer prayers. It was quite rejuvenating.j

We’ve only visited the Cathedral from outside. This white coloured structure forms an iconic view from the yard in front of her. She is beautiful.
If you’re visiting Helsinki for very short time even for a transit, this place is a place for “must visit”.

Helsinki Cathedral is, I think, one of main attractions in Helsinki. And for reason - Helsinki Cathedral is a magnificent building. With its robust appearance it entices full buses of tourists, and why not Finnish tourists, too, to admire its shiny white walls and green domes. The inside of the cathedral isn't any dissappointment, either, so in my opinion, the church is absolutely worth of visit.

Of course, going to Helsinki for me meant visiting churches and cathedrals.
I think this one is where you'll see most tourists, for a reason. It's located next to the parliament as well, and the view from up there is incredible.
I didn't take any picture of what it looks like inside. It's small and clean. Very white.

Helsinki Cathedral
A landmark in the Helsinki cityscape, with its tall, green dome surrounded by four smaller domes. It is one of Helsinki's most popular tourist attractions. The church is in regular use for services of worship and special events such as weddings.
Easily accessible from the city center, walking distance or you can take a tram ride.

A very iconic place to visit in Helsinki. The history is fascinating too. It’s simplicity and beauty stands out at the center of the Senate Square. It is the home of the world famous Choir of Helsinki Cathedral.

Not much to say beyond Wow! I’m not a very religious person but this church impresses. The architecture is beautiful and it was so peaceful when we visited I wanted to stay and enjoy it for awhile. There is an absolutely MASSIVE organ that I would love to hear but we weren’t so lucky on the day we visited.
I recommend blocking out a good 20-30 minutes for this cathedral to make sure you get a good look inside and out. If you’re in a pinch you could do it in 5-10 and get the idea.
Admission is free but you can do a quick and easy 5€ donation if you are so inclined.

The most beautiful building in Helsinki! Amazing! I could look at it for hours and will still be in awe of its majestic appeal. It’s stunning.
It’s clean and well maintained despite being touristy and always crowded. It’s free to go inside but donations are very much welcomed.
Its location is very central so as a tourist you can go to several places within the area as well and maximize your time.

Beautiful and iconic cathedral located in the central area of Helsinki. Free entry. The steps infront of the cathedral are really high. Definitely a must visit when you are in the capital city of Finland!

We have been here during wintertime and enjoyed the impressive building from the outside. There are big stairs in front of the building you need to climb to get to the church. Inside it was a bit disappointing since the walls are mostly just plane white. Even if it says the entry fee is five euros it is free since the fee is voluntary. We spent there about ten minutes in total.
Patrick Andersen — Google review
Both the interior and exterior of the church are truly awesome. Situated atop a hill in the city centre, the location lends a remarkable look to the church.
The church forms a significant part of Helsinki's Empire-era centre and serves as a prominent landmark for those arriving by sea. It symbolizes the entire city of Helsinki. Previously known as St. Nicholas Church and Great Cathedral, this magnificent church, which now serves as the main church of the Helsinki Diocese, was finished in 1852. Adorning the roof of the church, sculptures of the twelve apostles stand as guardians of the city.

One of the Helsinki top attractions. Compared to the Russian cathedral - well, it's doesn't have such a rich decoration , it's way more simple. But still, it's magnificent and you can see it from the board of the ship, even before you reach the passanger terninal.

One of the best sites to be visited when coming to helsinki. Charming and great building that is breathtaking. It is located in the center, with an arena in front of it, close to the waterfront and Orthodox cathedral

Helsinki’s most iconic building, dominating Senate Square and the harbour area, is somewhere any visitor is likely to end up. The square itself is rather windswept and soulless, but the cathedral is an attractive, redeeming feature. Inside, it is interesting but relatively plain, perhaps its most unusual feature the shape and layout; the pews seem to focus on the centre, but the altar is actually in the eastern apse. A visit will not take long, but it is certainly worth a few minutes exploration.

One of Helsinki’s many landmarks. Definitely worth stopping by during the day, but at night time it’s particularly beautiful. Great photo opportunities around the large square surrounding it.
There’s special activities and events that take place throughout the year in this square. Also, this is where the opening sequence in the music video for “Darude - Sandstorm” was filmed!

Lots of stairs!!!! It’s iconic to the city though so I say it’s a must do. I walked in during a service and it was crazy busy standing room only and that’s the only time in 20years of traveling in Europe that I’ve seen that happen. It’s very pretty on the outside not so much on inside. The real charm is the adjacent square where you can take pictures, grab refreshments, and people watch.

The most iconic monument in Helsinki. A must-visit place.
It's the most simple church i ever visited. Catholics and Orthodox have more flamboyant churches. Very stunned to see such simple church.
Absolutely loved it.
Every tourist in Helsinki should see this place.

In my opinion Helsinki Cathedral is not quite as attractive as Uspenski, but definitely a must visit church if you are in Helsinki. You can see the monument from quite far away, so it dominates the Helsinki skyline. I was surprised by the inside - it really wasn’t decorated much like most cathedrals with mosaics etc. To enter a 5 Euro donation is asked which can only be paid by card.

It's a nice building. When we went, there were prayers happening but we were still allowed to go in quietly.

I am not quite sure if I like to Cathedral for its ascetics or because it gave us an escape from the coldd for a few minuutes. The Cathedral is typical of a Lutheran structure with very few icons consistent with the Lutheran faith. The Bishop of Helsinki has his seat there. The building was designed by Carl Ludvig Engel in neoclassical style and construction lasted from 1830 to 1852.

I went to this place multiple times now the recent visit was with a Red Umbrella Free Walking Tour with our Guide Matti.
The place is majestic with interesting history and the interiors are quite peaceful. It doesn't involve any entrance fees. When I went inside for the first time in Feb 2024, there was a wedding ceremony just starting so the entry was stopped for a while. Weddings are common in summer as I was told.
I could take a seat for a peaceful 10 mins. Also met a Pakistani Christian on the second visit. What are the odds.

This is a spectacular cathedral that's larger than it appears in photos. The inside is fairly plain. Contrary to what you might read, you don't have to pay to go in but you can donate.
Famous Russian architect Aleksey Gornostayev designed the cathedral, which is one of the largest Orthodox churches in Scandinavia. The church has an ornate exterior and lavish interior decoration, and is popular with tourists because of its location near the North Harbor.
Old Russian cathedral that stands out as the building’s architecture is different than any other building in Helsinki. This cathedral is definitely worth checking out from the inside.

A beautiful Russian cathedral that you can see from many different parts of Helsinki due to the hill it’s built on. The architecture is also quite unique compared to other buildings in the city so it’s a refreshing visit. The inside is equally as beautiful and if you have the chance I’d recommend. There was a service going on while I was there so only got a bit of a glimpse from the side.

Uspenski Cathedral in Helsinki is the second most popular cathedral in the town. The cathedral's red-brick, Eastern Orthodox architecture is a striking contrast to the surrounding Nordic buildings. Perched atop a hill, it offers panoramic views of the city and the sea. Uspenski Cathedral is a must-see destination in Helsinki, and it provides a unique and enriching cultural experience. 🇫🇮

Helsinki 2nd famous cathedral. Architecture is influenced by Russian design and it is beautiful made with bricks. It is on small hill so when at above you get good view of near by places. Inside architecture is also good. Can't get enough of bricks color and preservation of the cathedral.
There are few steps to climb before you see the main entrance. There are other ways to come.
Very near to market and some food joints.
It is crowded on most of the days.

Helsinki’s Orthodox Cathedral is less striking than its Lutheran counterpart along the road, but is still an attractive building worth a visit. Compared to the rather dark brick exterior, the interior is filled with light, which when the sun shines beautifully captures the wall paintings and gold of the icons. It has a peaceful feel which encourages you to spend a few minutes reflecting. Note opening hours may change around religious festivals such as Holy Week and Easter.

Located on a short climb up the hill, this is a very interesting place to admire the Eastern Orthodox Church architecture from outside and inside. It was quite the experience to experience the grand exterior and interior of the cathedral.
No information boards if you're coming here alone, and the church interior is not all that big, but still okay to visit on your own.
Recommend the experience as entrance into the cathedral is free, unlike other more famous churches in Helsinki.

This cathedral may look big but the opened area to the public is very limited to only a corner of the entrance. It probably took less than 5 minutes to finish this site as you could not really get up close to see the details. If you are in the area, no harm to go visit for a bit; yet definitely no need to come all the way to visit.

The Cathedral and Senaatintori (Senate Square) in Helsinki are an absolute must see landmark. We've been living in Helsinki but each time I am back to this beautiful city I like to visit these iconic sites. Great location and historical significance and beauty of this place is remarkable.
The Helsinki Cathedral, also known as Tuomiokirkko, stands tall and majestic at the top of a grand staircase, making for a striking visual from afar. As you approache the Cathedral you can see details of its neoclassical design and bright white facade. Exquisite sculptures and columns exude an aura of elegance and timelessness. Inside the Cathedral the vast, vaulted ceilings adorned with intricate paintings, magnificent altar and a serene atmosphere creates a perfect setting for reflection and contemplation. Whether you're religious or not, the Cathedral's sense of history and reverence leaves a profound impact on visitors. Next to the cathedral is the oldest Russian Orthodox church in Helsinki.
Adjacent to the Cathedral, the Senate Square, or Senaatintori, offers open space surrounded by 19th century buildings. The architecture is dominated by the Government Palace, the University of Helsinki's main building, and the National Library of Finland. All buildings were built mostly during the Russian Empire. The city also called second st. Petersbourg. The symmetrical layout and the blend of neoclassical and romantic styles give the square an air of grandiosity and harmony. Climb up the stairs to the Cathedral for great photos. The panoramic view of Helsinki from there was simply breathtaking.
What's more, the area around the Cathedral and Senate Square is a vibrant hub of cultural activities and events. Throughout the year, concerts, exhibitions, and festivals take place, adding to the lively and inviting atmosphere of the place.
The Cathedral and Senate Square are conveniently located within walking distance of other Helsinki attractions, making it an ideal starting point for exploring the city. The nearby Esplanade Park, Helsinki Market Square, streets of the city center were you can do some shopping, dining, etc.The Cathedral and Senate Square in Helsinki are amazing buildings that you must see. This is really a very beautiful church.
Unfortunately there are mostly a lot of tourists. Therefore it is not really silent in this church. It sounds more like waiting at the railway station. Sometimes a lady talks through the speakers to be more silent, but this helps only 5 seconds...
For me a fun fact: Even citizens of Finnland are not allowed to enter this church without paying the entrance fee... 😂

Interesting church carved out of bedrock. It was built by two brother architects in the 1960s and is famed for its acoustics. It’s a bit expensive to go in (8 euros) in my opinion, but an interesting church nonetheless. It’s actually quite small, that is why the price seems a bit steep for me for what you get.

If you are coming to Helsinki, this stop is an absolute must. It is truly a unique experience and would highly suggest attending some type of concert - the acoustics are impressive. Important point - know where the entrance is at hahaha. You can easily find yourself on the back side of the church, climbing up stairs or walking up a path to a small outdoor seating area with now way to get down to the entrance. I marked on the screen capture where to go in. I will say the entrance to the church looks like you are going into a bunker. But as soon as you come in, you see the unique beauty of this church. There is an entry fee, but there is a small shop at the entrance, so you can pay with a card. We came in during a choir and instrumental practice. The seating is unique and fits perfectly within the space. There is also a beautiful organ, but unfortunately, we never got to hear it. I can imagine it would be quite the experience. There is additional seating on the upper balcony - also great sound and a viewing area if you don't want to go down onto the floor area. We spent quite a bit of time just sitting and admiring the work that was done to create such a unique place of worship. Thank you very much.

The Kamppi Chapel is a modern yellow building that looks like a big jar out of nowhere, and it is located in the busy Helsinki square. It is meant to be a place for silent reflection, and its soundproofing is brilliantly done. When you go inside, you are going to be surrounded only by your own thoughts.
From the outside, this place doesn’t look like a chapel, but a modern architectural site.
The chapel is open for everyone and free to enter. It’s a nice place to take a time off from the busy life of the city and focus 🧘♀️ it’s so quite inside and very cozy.
The building is made of wood and elliptical in shape. I loved every second of being there

This place is where you can find peace in the middle of a crowded city.
It so quite inside that you can even meditate.
The chapel is located on the Narinkka Square and it is also known as the "Chapel of Silence" since it is intended to be a place to calm down and have a moment of silence in one of the busiest areas in Finland.
I highly recommend this place. It’s free to enter and it’s gonna make a difference in the quality of your day!!

*Do not photograph the inside — and be respectful and silent during your visit!*
Beautifully crafted silent contemplation room, offering many books of worship for the various ideologies. I believe places like this should exist across the globe, as it would bring people from all sorts of backgrounds closer, as well as provide some respite from the world’s daily hustle and bustle. The silence was incredible (though in my case it brought out the depth of my tinnitus). 😌 Definitely recommend taking a moment here to just pause, breathe, and reflect.

The silence here hits different. If you looking to take a break from the noisy and busy activities outside, then you should visit this place. It is a good place for mediating and reflecting. It is free to visit and taking pictures inside is not allowed.

It’s a nice chapel and very unique. I did get get to see inside but I like the architecture from outside.

This place is very serene. In the brief moments when no one is entering or leaving, you are in awe of how peaceful it feels, forgetting that you are in the middle of the city. With its minimal wood design it makes it easy to really sit still and reflect. Unfortunately, I did go when it had just opened for the day, so this feeling of serenity, only lasted briefly. Tip don't go when it had just opened. No tickets needed but this was midweek.
Esplanadi is a large park in central Helsinki that attracts locals and tourists alike for its beautiful landscaping, historic monuments, and lively music scene. The space is regularly used for summer concerts and festivals, as well as for relaxing walks.
It’s a beautiful park in the city which surrounded by some retail shops, cafes..
Highly rated Kappeli restaurant also just around the corner but unfortunately it’s under renovation until May.

Beautiful park to explore as you're walking through central Helsinki. There's usually some event as well, in July there's daily Jazz musicians. Gorgeous scenery as well, and easy to walk off to many restaurants and bars.

It was the best park for the general public in central Helsinki. I visited it on Vappu day, which was the 1st of May. People were wearing captain hats and bright coloured trousers with lots of brand-names or well-known labels patches sewn on them. The event was spectacular.

This park is amazing. So tranquil and picturesque in winter. Just think about some Christmas songs when you walk in this park.
The air was crisps and the scenic landscape was captivating.

A walk through a city center park between the dockside marketplace stores, Swedish Theatre by Stockmanns. Short and sweet, lined by expensive stores, it has the elegance of wealth in the 1800's, beautiful in the darkness and twinkling lights

Esplanadi Park (or simply Espa) is an urban park in downtown Helsinki that is surrounded by the grand Esplanadi boulevard. It was build by architecture Carl Ludwig in 1826. Cafes, bistros, and upmarket boutiques dot the boulevard.
The park is not as big as some of the other parks in Helsinki but it’s a great place to relax, have a couple of drinks, or just watch the world go by. When the weather is nice there are usually some live music events in the park.

Great spot in the city centre, usually with some vendors. Mini concerts can happen in special days and there is a restaurant.

A small linked park running parallel to one of the main shopping streets in Helsinki. While you'd expect to see a park as a green open space, we were mega excited to see it completely white, covered in snow, cand even more excited that it was still decorated for Christmas.

Nice green space with benches, flowers and some cafes. Good escape from the buildings. Good place to hang out.

My favorite park in Heksinki. It's most beautiful during summertime. Popular with strollers, joggers, and picknickers, it's quieter during cold winter months. Flanked on both side by high-end boutiques, restaurants, and business offices, the neighborhood surrounding it is like a mini "Champ Elysées". A must visit for tourists.

Narrow slice of well kept park, edged by restaurants, shops & the famous Kappeli Restaurant, frequented by Jean Sibelius & other important historical Finnish figures. Music played during the summer months.

Nice little park in Helsinki with a lot of nice shops and restaurants nearby.
Finnish fortress Suomenlinna, located on six islands in the Gulf of Finland, is a popular tourist attraction. The site was originally built by Sweden in the mid-18th century as Sveaborg and later became part of Finland. Today, there are museums, parks, cafes and restaurants as well as Finland's only remaining WWII submarine on the site. Ferries depart from Helsinkis Kauppatori throughout the year.
one of the best tourist attraction near Helsinki. it was a castle built to protect capital from foreign forces. very accessible via ferry from Helsinki port. make sure to keep extra clothes when taking ferry as it could be very windy, specially in winter. also get yourself 4-5 hours to explore it fully.

This was probably the coolest thing we did in Helsinki. You take a ferry to the island. There are a lot of trails, we mostly stayed on the blue line with only a couple deviations. The River that cuts through the middle was awesome. Near the end you can walk up a hill toward some cannons. Don’t miss this!! There are little mounds that look like a hobbit city!! It’s a really cool landscape you can explore. You get great views of Helsinki from the cannon area too! We went into an art shop on the way back and they had some REALLY cool stuff that the locals that LIVE on the island make. Very talented people!! Loved this excursion!!

A must visit when in Helsinki. Great ferry trip there, which is especially good in nice, warm weather. You can walk around the island in about 90minutes comfortably (and with some beers).

Great day spent at Suomenlinna. A must see if in the Helsinki area. 20 minute ferry ride is beautiful. Our 6yr old loved the underground tunnels. Spectacular views everywhere. Great cafes around the island.

Many places to climb on, canons and views!
The military museum is a must visit!

Really lovely place. Definitely recommend a visit to walk around and enjoy the nature. Best time is during the summer when the weather is warm and sunny and all the places are open. However during wintertime this little island has a totally different vibe which is also interesting to experience.

This was a really cool experience for me, went with a friend during the week and the best part the transportation was included in my 5 day city transport pass. One of the coolest things on the island to see are the cannons, the shipyard and the surrounding views. It's just a really nice place for a chill walk.
Stefan Tudor — Google review
Super cool island that is easily accessible via ferry or seabus. Beautiful walk along the ramparts and interesting to see all of the huge cannons up close. A few cafes on one side where one can have lunch, just be wary that they will often only be serving lunch from 12-14:00.

Very nice island to visit. It’s free of charge (except you want to go inside the museums),
You can reach it by the ferry from Market Square. The ferry is a part of the transport system, so the standard fare applies (3.10€ per person). You can buy the ticket at the machine next to the harbour.
Try to go there on a sunny day. I bet it’s much nicer than the rainy weather we had.

Place to enjoy at least one whole day. Several ferries to Helsinki city also after midnight. Several museums on the islands (maybe, the more interesting is the military one), but generally, nice to stroll around the fortress.

Visited on Sunday. The ferry ticket was included in the day traffic ticket which is convenient. It is a good and historic place to visit and spend around 2 hours. The brewery is closed on Sunday, what a pity. Bought local beer Karhu in the market, loved it.

The most beautiful and charming place of Helsinki! With lovely cafes, spirit of history and the most amazing views all around the island it definitely is a must see! Don't think just go there! ♥️

A cool fortress just a short ferry ride away from Helsinki. Interesting preserved architecture and nice views of the surrounding area. An interesting museum can also be found on the island. The views of Helsinki from the ferry are also great. Definitely worth a visit. In February the island was covered in snow and ice, but was still a great experience.

Good place to visit. The guided walking tour is definitely a good think to buy, otherwise you won’t get the context you need to understand the places you’ll pass by while exploring.

Amazing islands with lots of museum attractions. The icing on the cake is the opportunity to visit the submarine. Buying a full-day public transport ticket in Helsinki (€ 9) we have a ferry to the islands for free.

If you have to visit one thing whilst in Helsinki then this should be at the top of your list. A mere 20 mins ferry ride from the Helsinki harbour front you will find Suomenlinna. Tickets for the ferry can be purchased at the pier. It is a preserved site, township and fortress. Absolutely stunning things to see all over the island with information scattered across each famous landmark so it is easy to self tour the place yourself. Several museums available to visit too. Most of the houses are private residential areas so it is important to respect their privacy. Spent a good 2.5 hours there just roaming around and taking in all the sights and surroundings. Cafes, restaurants and souvenirs are also available. Must see so don't miss this place.

Nice fortified island in front of the old Helsinki port. It's just 15 minutes ferry ride to it from Kauppatori quay. Take your time to walk around the island after visiting the fort museum. Be mindful though of the residential areas in which people live, indicated by a small blue sign with a house in it.

We visited in autumn, and this island makes for a good half to one day trip from Helsinki. There are many different museums here (you need to pay per entrance if you don't have the Helsinki card), but our personal favourite was the World War 2 submarine and war museums.
There are also historical buildings you can visit, and you can also get scenic views of the sea here. Everything is within Walkable distance, takes about an hour to two to walk non-stop from one end to the other end.
There are also different restaurants here for food if you want to try it out, but nothing caught our eye. We did try an ice cream stall that sold 1 cone for 4.50 euros. As this is a tourist spot, expect things here to be pricey if you're spending money, even the church charges an entrance fee. Otherwise you can also bring your own food and have a picnic here, the King's Gate is quite a good place to sit and chill.
Do check the weather before coming here though, as it was raining when we were here and that somewhat affected our experience as most of the places are unshelthered.
Overall an interesting attraction to visit with different activities. Highly recommended as a half to full day excursion from Helsinki. You can reach this place via a public ferry that departs every 20 minutes from the Market Square.

Suomenlinna fortress is one of my favourite places in Finland. Such a beautiful place. The Suomenlinna fortress is located on the coast of Helsinki and it is a UNESCO World Heritage site. I loved everything about this place. You can spend a few good hours walking and exploring the sea fortress. It is a must visit for everyone. I highly recommend it. There are a few restaurants and coffee shops. There's no entry fee to the fortress but you'll have to take a ferry from Helsinki to Suomenlinna fortress. The tickets have different options. For example, buy a single ticket or all-day tickets. The good thing about the tickets is that they can be used for any public transport.

Suomenlinna is a captivating historical site with stunning views of the sea and surrounding islands. The fortress offers a fascinating glimpse into Finland's military past and is perfect for a leisurely day of exploration. You can visit by taking public transport ferry to this Island. The day pass transport ticket covers this route also, you don't need to purchase extra ticket. You may need to spend around 3 to 4 hours to go and visit this destination.

Short ferry ride (20min) and nice to visit for a couple of hours or more. Would I prioritize this over other tourist points in Helsinki: no. I recommend seeing it but not above other things and especially during the winter.
Count about 30min to cross the island on foot and about 3hrs when doing the full tour.

Absolutely stunning in the winter. The colored buildings give a lovely view against the white backdrop. It’s super nice to walk around. I recommend to walk all the way to Kings gate and back. And a great bonus, there’s a supermarket near the ferry stop!
Lakeside villa designed in 1903 by a trio of renowned Finnish architects, with guided tours.
A marvelous place that brings visitors serenity.
We strolled through the forest and alongside the lake whole afternoon, enjoying summer sunshine to the fullest.

In a city full of neoclassic, minimalistic and functional design, this building still stands out as one of the best examples of Finnish architecture. The view over the lake is glorious at almost any time of the year. It is well maintained and organized.

Worth the visit. Hard to reach with public transport. Only for able-bodied people. Not for people with strollers. They're renovating the place in 2021-2022, but only some rooms were not available. They only let a few people in during the pandemic, which creates a small line every now and then, but it's worth the safety and the opportunity to look around without a huge crowd surrounding you.
