Sassenpoort is a historical landmark in the center of Zwolle, built in 1409 as the only remaining city tower. It stands at 42mts high and has four levels, originally constructed for defending the city from external attacks. The tower also served as an archive and military prison. Visitors can access all floors by paying a fee of 5 and guided tours are available in Dutch, German and English languages to enlighten them with the history of the town.
A very interesting place. An interesting brief history of the city in pictures, the decoration of the rooms. You can even shoot a bow there! Also listen to the bell. Unfortunately there is no way out. But at the top there is a window with a beautiful view of the city. If you put your phone away, you can take beautiful pictures. The ticket is only about 5 euros.

If you want to visit the three upper leves, you have to pay a fee of 5€. 💸 The guides are able to give you information in Dutch, German and English, and are well versed in the story of the city. I would say it is a must! 👌🏼

The Sassenpoort (English: Sassen gate) is a gatehouse in the citywall of Zwolle, Netherlands. It was built in 1409 out of dimension stone, mostly trachyte and tuff, and restoration work was done in 1893-1898. The gatehouse is a 'rijksmonument' and is part of the Top 100 Dutch heritage sites.

Stunning piece of early brick architecture. Guides were warm and welcoming, too.
Very good little museum on the history of this former island. Great exhibition on how the island formed, from the Late Saalien to the formation of the Zuiderzee, and of how very hard life was on the island until the population was displaced.
Only thing missing was a little bit more information on how the Zuiderzee came to be.
David Emmett — Google review
Very simple museum. Easily 15-45mins to finish the visit. Most information can be found on Internet. Only blessing is that I arrived on the same day of Viking exhibition which adds on 2 more stars

This is a fascinating little museum of a coastal community now on a little hill in the middle of a field. For anyone who is amazed at the ability of the Dutch to reclaim land from the sea, this place is a must see as living evidence of what has been achieved. The great food and service at the restaurant is a reason to come here even if you are not interested in the museum!

Excellent, seemingly quite new museum. It makes the best of the difficult history of this place. The museum rents out bikes with which you can circle around the “island”. Very friendly staff.

I imagined this place when it was surrounded by water. A good place to remember how the early Dutch lived and fought with water.

Wonderful open air museum. A great way to get to know the history behind this former island in the Zuiderzee. For decades locals if Schokland tried to fight the da in order to call this island their home. Want to know all about it? Visit REISACHTIG.COM
Museum de Fundatie is an art museum located in a neoclassical courthouse by the canal in Zwolle. The museum boasts of a renowned international art collection and features large-scale temporary exhibitions by contemporary artists. Its small permanent exhibit showcases representative pieces that trace the evolution of modern art while another portion can be seen at Nijenhuis Castle, 17km southeast. One cannot miss the surreal gold bird and silver sparkling snail-shaped slug of a cocoon that adorn the futuristic rooftop extension.
What an awesome experience. I can definitely recommend this Art Museum. There is a lot to see and if you keep walking up the stairs there is a little cafe where you can grab a coffee and relax. The town of Zwolle is also really nice so definitely a nice day trip no matter where in the Netherlands you are from

Great variation of works, with some gems. The remix concept gives every area a different theme. I enjoyed the spontaneity of discovering a nice piece of art in this way, instead of going from old to new.

Very nice museum with lovely staff. I love that you don't need a euro for the lockers because i so rarely carry cash and don't have to worry about where to put my winter coat! bathrooms on every floor is also great (and the soap smells good). Just wish the museum shop carried more items based on the exhibition :) thanks!

This museum was a great surprise for us. The building is awesome and the art was great. All kinds of art is exposed from classic to very modern. If you like art it is a great place to visit. I recommend it above many of the more visited Amsterdam museums.
Toilets very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Some amazing pieces and exhibition. I especially loved the Russian paintings and futuristic art
E P — Google review
A whole lot of space dedicated to a single artist, it took all of 30 minutes to see it all, mainly lots of variations of the same thing. the most interesting part of the museum was the circular roof of which there was not a single word about it's construction or materials used. Maybe there will be something to see later??

The first museum/gallery in the Netherlands we've visited which felt pompous and up it's own backside. My wife was told off before we'd even gone in for having a very small back pack - on the grounds it may knock the exhibits. I didn't see anything she could have bumped without swinging the damn thing round her head. I got told off for touching a metal shelf which I thought was simply holding up the fabric hanging on display. It stopped us enjoying the exhibition and we spent the rest of the visit thinking more about not going near stuff than actually looking at it. So we left.
Carl Young — Google review
Just too little pieces unfortunately. Cost 15euro to enter - well maintained and clean. It's a small city kind of museum so not fair also to compare to the likes of famous museums.

The entrance fee is very affordable and there are options for students. It may also be suitable for tourists. It's a must-see place, I recommend it as a traveler. Congratulations to employees and managers I do

Really nice museum for a quick and inspiring visit. I’d strongly recommend that you start from the 4th floor taking the elevator at the lobby and then make your way down from the “Leiko Ikemura” expositions to the “ex- change proto” and finally to “Guillaume”.
I spent about an hour here and read almost all room descriptions. There are also guided tours, I believe those should be booked in advanced. The day that I went it was not crowded, but that was a bit unusual.
If you have the Museumkaart you can access for free.
Unfortunately the day that I was there the cafe was closed.

Great art! Worth a visit!
At the time we were there, the museum has only few rooms to offer because they were changing the exhibition (because of that we didn't have to pay for a ticket) . But we still had the chance to see some great artwork
I would visit again to see more!
Zwolle city is so clean, beautiful and new.
The only thing strange is that there are no taxis. So must take bus or cycle 🚲

Decent railway station, this is basically a hub for the northern provinces, all trains come by here which then gives you the opportunity to go to basically everywhere in the Netherlands. Can be a littel daunting at first but after a few visits you'll find your way around it easy.

Urk Lighthouse
Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Beacon built in 1617 & moved several times, with town & sea views from a platform at the top.
A magical place for me, one of the best where I lived nearby. The 400-year-old history of the Lighthouse awakens the imagination as a showcase of the town of Urk right next to the bay.

Such a nice little town. We were there in early spring and the weather was quite good: sunny but a bit chilly from the wind. We had a stroll along the water and finished it in the nearby harbour. The lighthouse was very cute for the picture :)

Lovely natural history museum with lots of animals - perfect for the little ones with activities. Also highly recommend Daantje Bos which is a walk with nice activities for the kids.

When I was young, I already visited the museum when on holiday and fortunately it still exists. The stuffed animals (work of taxidermist Piet Bos - the former name of the museum) are partly presented in beautiful "diorama's" (artwork by Piet's son, Kees Bos). For those who want to dig deeper al lot of information is available, including a lot of birds and a movie about the craftsmanship of taxidermy.

Leafy wildlife park home to roaming boar, bison & deer, popular for hiking, biking & birdwatching.
Beautiful park to walk or bike. The signs tell you which way to go to see what kind of animal. Paths are shared for walking and cycling. Enough picnic places in the shadow.
Dogs are allowed.
The staff and volunteers are very friendly and can tell you about the animals.

Be aware that the Bison path is closed due to safely reasons. If your main purpose to go to the park is for seeing special animals such as moose, of course it's not always easy to spot animals in the nature.
We only saw a group of father David deer from a distance, boars and an otter.

Great park for a walk or run. Some animals can be seen. There is a WC (no fee) in the administration building, also a cafe and a small shop. Parking is 3 euro for the entire day. Some of the paths in the park are forbidden for dogs, as you can get very close to the animals and might be dangerous.

Restored island castle dating to the 14th century, with a cafe, on a lake in landscaped gardens.
Castle was restored at 2017 and now hosts part of art collection devoted to realism from More museum. The collection is small but nice. Reserve up to 1 hour for the museum. The interiors of the castle are nicely renovated with the wood paneling and tapestry. The pattern of hardwood floors repeats the pattern on the ceiling. The parking is free, but the place is popular, so parking is full on the weekends. The restaurant in the Orangery is nice and staff is very helpful.

Nice vibes
Well maintained
Maybe slightly expensive entry fare for visitors at Euro14/- which could be reduced considerably if a family or group is visiting.
sudhirbang — Google review
Great little castle where art of the notorious artist Karel Willink is displayed on multiple floors.
The castle, and it's grounds, are truly beautiful. Lush green fields complimented by trees and bushes all well maintained, cutting off most outside prying eyes. If you're up for a drink there's a nice little cafe situated near the entrance.
The art on display in the castle is interesting in that Willink is not as well known as other Dutch masters, but stil very high quality. Although one should separate the art from the artist, I would not recommend reading up in this artist, but that's my opinion.
My only complaint, and the reason for giving 4/5 stars, is that the attitude towards people with disabilities is not to my liking. After having taken the elevator, because the person I was with could not walk any stairs (worn out knees and ankles), we got a lecture on how we circumvented the covid security measure; and how we used the elevator without being chaperoned by an employee. This despite the reception having told us to do so alone. And on the second floor we got the same lecture, and the same disregard for a disability, which I just found a tad inappropriate.
All in all a great little castle that's definitely worth visiting! Especially on a nice summer's day.
Guy den Blanken — Google review
A nice castle, beautiful collection of Willinks work. But you're done in about an hour or so. You can have a small cup of coffee for a large price at the orangerie. The garden is lovely and well tended, but also seen in half an hour or less when it isn't too busy.
The place is nice and beautiful to visit, but I expected a bit more. Maybe I should have taken the tour..
Daniël Danse — Google review
Beautifully restored little castle with modern amenities. The new wooden, inlaid floors mirror the patterns in the ceiling. Very nice grounds for strolling around. Nice collection of Carel Willink paintings. The orangerie offers great food for a very reasonable price
Cynthia Lammertsma — Google review
The museum sits in a nicely restored castle. Parts of the castle have been kept authentic and a short film introduces you to the history of the castle.
The modern paintings, sculptures and dresses are well displayed.

Nice castle with Carel Willink exposition.
Worth visiting.
The rooms in the castle itself are a bit empty.
No interieur or furniture or things like that.

The castle in Ruurlo is a beautiful place. There is a big grass park with walking lanes. The castle itself is ancient but after the restoration they added and mixed it with a modern touch. The bridge to the castle at the back is a modern 'glass' bridge. The castle itself is a museum of modern art. Of you want to eat and drink something there is the 'stable' building which is a nice restaurant to sit and enjoy.
The Palace of Het Loo in Apeldoorn is one of the most important national museums in the Netherlands. It has an excellent art collection, and there are guided tours of the royal apartments.
Beautiful gardens and well maintained palace with interesting audio tours. Yes the work is still ongoing to finish the front of the palace but still worth a visit. Don’t miss out on visiting the roof, especially on a beautiful day - the entrance is a bit hidden so I missed it the first time, had to ask for directions to find it.
Emma LC — Google review
Beautiful palace with beautifully restored interiors. The gardens are also breathtaking. Fully rated spoil grapes shop full of nonsense, where you can't even buy a postcard or a magnet with a palace. They don't even have any text or brochure here, just audio guides. The app could not be downloaded from the Play Store.
Mat?j Bekera — Google review
Download the app and audio tour before you go. Tour is great - informative while being entertaining and never boring. Really high quality.
Palace is great, with very helpful friendly and informative staff spread around and happy to answer questions.
Suggest allowing c1.5 hours for the Palace if doing the two sections of the audio tour, and a further 30 mins minimum for the gardens, or 1.5 hours if you intend to do the formal gardens and the orange route around the boating lake (all of which are well worth doing).
The new gallery space below the courtyard is amazing, with an interesting g exhibition about the project.
O Brown — Google review
Beautiful and great looking palace. Inside there honestly isn’t really all that to do or look at but the few exhibitions and rooms you can check out are worth to check. It’s nice that they give you access to the rooftop as well which shows a beautiful view of the gardens and the surrounding area. I didn’t have time to visit the garden but if you’re there definitely visit the gardens as well, they look beautiful.

Beautiful castle, we went there for the "princess day" and it was very well organised. The gardens are beautiful. The castle itself is closed due to renovation and it will open somewhere next year so I'm looking forward to visiting again once it's fully open.

Very beautiful place. Brand new museum! 2 bar cafes restaurants with amazing lunch as well. A lot of facilities to visit and a great story to read. You need at least 3 hours to discover all the palace rooms and then at least 1 hour to walk through the gardens. There is a hike root as well so be prepared with hat, water and good shoes!
Theano — Google review
Really nice place! Lots to see! We went there just a bit before closing and ended up getting to the gardens right before they started to kick people out. If you end up with the same problem - go to the very end of the gardens first and then walk back - because they start moving people out in that direction.
Layout of the Palace was a little confusing we ended up missing one side of it but we also knew we needed to go to the gardens before they close.
Make sure you go to the rooftop! The views of the garden are maybe even better than what you would see down there.
Oksana Gavrix — Google review
Beautifully renovated Royal Palace in prime condition with amazing gardens in a huge park. Built by/for William III of William and Mary fame (the guy who conquered England in 1666).
The outside is Dutch Renaissance with French formal gardens and a more English park.
The inside is a wonderful collection of rooms in the Renaissance, Baroque, Empire and 1930s styles. Plus the lush new entrance in a very marbly 2020s style.
Catering is so-so. The 2 restaurants could not sell us a bottle of water for my thirsty kids. There is no vending machine, strangely.
Parking is easy and plentiful, but not cheap at 8 euros. Public transportation access is good from the Apeldoorn station.
Ventilation is disappointing. I measured up to 1,050 ppm on a reasonably busy day. Not good enough. It smells stuffy too, which cannot be good for the palace and its contents.
There are two good merchandise shops but nothing I could use in a modern styled home, apart from the obligatory fridge magnet. I think foreign visitors might love the shopping.
The broader Veluwe area is lovely and has amusement parks, forests, a hunting lodge, a Van Gogh museum and a monkey zoo.
Michael Blok — Google review
A fantastic place to be! Even though the palace itself is still closed, but the park and garden are open. We joined the “prince and princes day”, which was just great! Kids just loved it. Very well organized!

I really enjoyed visiting this Palace Het Loo in Apeldoorn. With the museumkaart is free, though the parking is paid.
The palace is really big though visits are only allowed in part of it. The palace is really well conserved and preserved.
It has a huge garden super beautiful that you can see from the rooftop. You can also walk there and even go to the forest that is part of the visit. This forest is really worth the try so take your boots/sneakers. It has a huge and beautiful lake, statues and things like that.
You can spend an entire day over there, if you want. There is a cafe where you can buy some food / drinks.
For me, the best was the library. For those who like books, is difficult not to like it.
Cl?udia Pereira — Google review
Having visited many outstanding palaces and gardens in the UK & Europe this is certainly in our top 5, the gardens are impressive and impeccably maintained.
The entrance to the palace via the underground atrium is spectacular, although the palace is sparsely furnished it doesn’t detract form it’s grandeur.
Andrew Holt — Google review
It is very nicely organised with several routes and tours to follow. The app that you can download can give you the tour as well. Written or spoken.
Beautiful Palace as expected ofcourse! Each room with a story of its own and all the little details present, will keep you busy for as long as you'd like.
Don't forget to look up!
The restaurant is decent enough with decent prices.
The reason why it only get 3 stars from me is this:
In the public Palace gardens in front of the Palace itself, the are some nice benches you can sit and relax. To bad there's a lot of trash laying around. This also has to do with the little amount of bins available.
Inside the Palace, it is so unbelievably busy, that (at least I did) the feeling of being rushed has a constant presence. People almost pushing themselves into the next room, not keeping in account that they are not the only once there. That really put down the experience it gave.
Dennis van Bommel — Google review
Former Palace of the Royal family of the Netherlands, now a museum. Has been renovated recently. It does showcase the palace in different "states"- you can see rooms as they were in the beginning of the monarchy but also some how they looked like just 70 years ago.
Tip: download the app beforehand and bring a headset
Also plan enough time for the garden (if the weather permits it).
Claudia Abert — Google review
Palais Het Loo is really beautiful. You can spend the whole day visiting it, with your friends and family members. You can start with the indoor part of the castle and then see the beautiful gardens. You can click beautiful photos and videos to keep them as memories or share them with your dear ones. You can have a drink or lunch in the restaurant of the castle. Can't wait to visit it again!

No description inside (I liked that, but my boyfriend didn’t) although you can buy map, download an app with audio-tour or rent device to listen to. At the cafe inside we were waiting for 10-15 minutes and no one showed up so we left. There’s places to buy different kinds of things like postcard, vases and art.

Fabulous combination between new and old architecture! watching the play of light with the water of the fountain from below is fascinating. the finest materials in the new building but by no means ostentatious. magnificent view from the roof of the palace. wonderful gardens. in the rearmost part of the site you can relax wonderfully by the lake.

a non-pretentious baroque castle, only the dutch could accomplish that. inside still pretty fancy rooms of course. also the baroque lower and upper garden. at the end there also is an entrance/ exit to the castle forest, closes at 16.30! It is in general a pity, that the castle already closed at 17.00, since a lot of nice hours could be spend in the garden in summer evenings

Koninklijk Park 16, 7315 JA Apeldoorn, Netherlands
Julianatoren Apeldoorn is a seasonal theme park located on the western outskirts of Apeldoorn, Netherlands. Geared towards children under 12, it offers over 60 rides and attractions including a Ferris wheel and several rollercoasters. The park is designed to be super child-friendly with almost every ride suitable for small kids. It features mouse and dino-themed entertainment aimed at children aged 2-10 years old.
Perfect place to go with small kids when you are close-by in the Netherlands. There are rides for kids of every age. We went with our kids who are 3 and 5 at around 11 a.m and had non stop fun until the evening. There is ample parking space and they charge 10€ per car. Parking is a bit far away from the entrance but there is a shuttle bus between the entrance and the parking which is really a nice gesture. Will plan to visit again!!
Radhakrishna Chivukula — Google review
Great "entertainment park" for smaller children (ours are 4 and 6) They also managed to get a lot of attractions on a rather small space, what means not so much walking with small children.
We had short to no waiting lines.
There are also good indicators with what hight children can go alone, accompanied or not at all. However I have think those need to be remeasured by the park.
In the back is a big picknik area under the trees where you can have your own food. There are also enough places to get food, and not only the standard fries and chicken nuggets.
There are enough toilets and they were clean and big. I was able to get in comfortably with both children without feeling cramped.
With a wheelchair it could be, on some path, a bit more challenging.

Fun kids amusement park Based on the characters Jul and Julia, Miss cotton candy and Mr. cheese slicer.
We had a corporate retreat here, that I spoke at - Really fun time and a very cool place that's kind of innovative to hold a conference.
The rides look fun and it's appropriate for kids of all ages (Things were shut down for the conference but I managed to pick up some stuffed animals for my nieces and nephews) ☺️

I came here on autumn vacation. Alot of ppl here. It was fun for 3-5 years old I think. But for me it was not that fun. I love the showtime it was fun. The rest was just normal. Not that fun, not bad either. If you have kids around 3-5 years old, this place can be one of your list 😉

A small park with lots of attractions. We come during the Easter holidays it is just mega crowded, every single attraction you will queue for 20-30min with young kids, food stand seems understaffed too, even bathrooms are having long queues too. I can imagine a “regular day” would be much nicer to enjoy with kids here, but consider other options during school holidays.
Yajing — Google review
Perfect day for kids younger than 6. Theres a wealth of rides and attractions for them to partake and the lines are not long. We were with a 4 year old and we tried most of the rides and he enjoyed all. Better suited for his age than Efteling. Note, parking costs 10 euro and is paid on location not via internet. Worth purchasing tickets on’ine in advance, the line is shorter that way.

My kids live this place and during this visit I was pleasantly surprised by a few new rides and some updates from the last time we were here.
My kids ages (2 to 7) had a great time and loved all the shows. The staff was super friendly and it was a great day.
We also ate lunch here and it was good for the price. It was snack at food but wasn’t over priced.

Great experience for our family, two daughters aged 3 and 6, we spent a lovely day, not a huge place which is an advantage as not endlessly walking, but many activities (we didn’t do all).
Prices for food and drink on the dear side + unexpected 10 Euros for parking at the end.
But overall, very recommended for families with young kids! Especially as the activities are suited for their heights…
Yoav B — Google review
Nice and clean park. Attractions were well serviced but some of the themed rides showed their age. Also some attractions should not let grown ups ride on them. The helicopters for example were very small and the operator seemed a bit aggitated of all the parents that went on the ride. Operators in overall were a bit unfriendly and seemed uninterested.
Kevin Desloovere — Google review
Mouse and (strangely) dino themed entertainment park aimed at children 2-10 years old. The park’s footprint is relatively small and feels crowded quite quickly, but you can (temporarily) escape this at the back of the park, where there is a picknick area with a giant bounce pad and solar beds. The park gives a significant early bird discount if you buy your tickets online two weeks in advance. Dogs are allowed outside of the rides and restaurants, luckily the park has many large terraces. You can easily spend the entire day here.

We don’t have children but we really like theme park personally. This park is not too big but not that small either. The ambiance is super nice, it’s so satisfying us to see some excitement of children when they get into an attraction. We will come back and bring our two nephews to play here. Really recommended for young children.

My kids are 2 and 7 and we had a great time. We went on a Sunday and never waited too long for a ride. The park was the perfect size for one day of fun.

Nice park to go for the younger kids. For adults there is not really much to do but seeing your kids being happy is always good. The theming could also use some work. But it's nice that there are so much things to do, so close to each other.
Coen — Google review
The best theme park for young kids, you never need to walk far or wait long for the next attraction! Good shows and things like bumper cars are completely free unlike in other parks. Also free pictures with Jul and Julia (the main characters from the park).

Apenheul, a Dutch animal park located in Apeldoorn, offers visitors the opportunity to observe over 200 primates freely roaming around. In addition to the main attraction of observing these creatures up close, Apenheul also features a treetop trail and a nocturnal monkey house. For those looking to make the most out of their visit, combining Apenheul with a trip to Palace Het Loo provides a full day's worth of activities.
Amazing place, not only for kids but for adults too! You are really close to the monkeys and you see them jumping around the park. Before entering, you are advised to put your belongings inside a closed bag (they are free and with different sizes). You can walk around the whole park without any problem and there are services inside (restaurants, toilet, etc.)
Alvaro Lau — Google review
Amazing all day experience. Very big park, most monkeys walking freely. The gorilla show is a must! Only downside is the limited eating facilities, besides krokets and hot dogs there is only fries if you get hungry even though it is really an all-day activity
E Berenyi — Google review
Apenheul is an insane place, we were two adults and had lots of fun! Lots of monkeys close to you! Some practicalities
- Lockers need a 1€ coin, make sure to have one with you (The coin is returned at the end)
- Parking has to be paid with card and the maximum is €9.30 a day
- Even if you go with a backpack they will make you put your stuff in the park’s official bags (no charge)
- We walked without a rush and the total time spent in the park (including Gorilla feeding presentation) was 3 hours
- All paths in the park are possible for wheelchairs / trolleys 👌🏻
- There are services 🚾 in different points of the park so you can drink lots of water without that being an issue
- We went with a bag with water, chips, sandwiches and since everything is so flat, carrying is not so bad 🧊
- We went from Amsterdam, going by public transportation was (roughly) 19€ per person each way so it was definitely worth to rent a car (in the end, payed like 75€ for mywheels)
It’s a beautiful experience, recommended for everyone!

Very nice park where some of the monkeys are roaming free.. not all ofcourse. Enough places to eat and drink within the park. Just make sure none of your pockets and bags are open because these monkeys will steal anything! Very cool for the younger kids!
Wynand Shankar — Google review
There is a lot of walking, but the children have an incredible joy to see the monkeys so close. In the center of the zoo there is also a huge playground for children, where you can easily spend an extra hour. The best way to see many species of monkeys, which have been created in conditions close to natural. A place worth spending every euro.
Aga Fi — Google review
If you arrive early (from 10 a.m to 2 p.m) the monkeys do absolutely nothing but sleep and chill. Food, drinks and souvenirs are very expensive. And a lot of the fun parts are closed for some reason.

Lovely Primate park with lots for kids to do. The place was really nicely laid out and thought it was great how seamless it was walking from area to area.

Beautiful zoo, with 35 species of monkeys, including gorillas, chimps, orang utans, bonobos, gibbons, but also sloths and cabibaras. Great park with surprising enclosures. Parking is a bit of a walk, but affordable (10 euro for a day) and the walk is through the park where the zoo is located in.
Sander Hoogendoorn — Google review
Lovely park in a beautiful forest setting. The drive there is lovely as well, don't take the highway, take the N-numbered-routes! In the park many areas where monkeys just walk among the people. Don't need to plan for a whole day, doable in about 4 hours (cheaper tickets from 2:00pm available).
TeuLira Family — Google review
Visited as an adult couple while on holiday. All the signs are in Dutch, German and English, and the staff were happy to help when our Google translating wasn't good enough to make an educated guess. Despite the drizzle, there were plenty of species pottering about under the trees, with no evidence that they had been forced outside (and plenty of other species that had sensibly taken themselves inside to gaze out the windows at the rain!). Got close to quite a few different species, in particular the squirrel monkeys, red howler monkeys and Barbary macaques, but all the animals we saw seemed well adjusted to captive life and not afraid of doing their own thing close to visitors. Gorilla show is only in Dutch, but this is noted on signs, and would have been fine if the silverback hasn't come out, taken a bite of chicory and then decided that the offering was not outweighing the rain and scarpered sedately off! Can't blame him! Humans had jackets and were sitting under a canopy in the dry, after all!
e blade — Google review
A great day out for all the family. Walk around the well marked route ( good access for wheelchair and people with walking disabilities), and mingle with the many free running monkeys (more than 30 different types to find). Make sure you find the time to visit the three shows ( all in Dutch, but the staff speak English and are willing to answer any questions). Unfortunately we found the food on offer at the restaurant! to be very expensive and not very nice ( when we visit again, we will take our own food with) large parking area, cost between €10 and €11. (bus stop on main road near to parking area)Approx 10 minutes walk from carpark to the entrance.

Looks well-maintained and exciting for kids. It takes about 10 minutes of walking from the parking lot to Apenheul's entrance. You walk through a beautiful park. Apenheul itself was busy, but less busy than I expected during summer holidays. There are lots of species and the animals seem to be doing OK from uneducated eyes, like mine. The prices for food there are spicy and there are not a lot of options. In hindsight I would have brought food from home. Take a light backpack because you need to wear it facing the front.

The Netherlands Open Air Museum features traditional Dutch buildings and transport exhibits with costume guides. Visitors can spend one night in Arnhem and choose between the Airborne Museum and the Open Air Museum.
Amazing place to visit, especially when the weather is good. A lot of old houses form Netherlands collected in one place, perfect to learn about Dutch history. Very kids friendly, with dedicated paly ground and tram line around the whole park. Located on the outskirts of Arnhem on the hills and surrounded by woods. Kind of a must-see in Netherlands.

This wonderful open air museum is a fascinating experience to be enjoyed. Be sure to start your trip with a ride on the tram so that you have an idea of what the museum has to offer. Each tram stop beings you to a different themed village. It is astonishing to see how the Netherlands have evolved over time and the way we live. There is so much detail given to the history of the buildings and the actors also help to enhance the overall experience. We unfortunately went on a very wet day so we did not see everything there was to offer. The facilities are great and clean. There are ramps for those in wheelchairs. There is a lovely gift shop at the entrance information centre.

Very nice museum, really interesting and diverse collection. Loved that there are actors who recreate what life used to look like. I found them to be very friendly and open for questions. Sadly a lot of the information was only available in Dutch, so something to keep in mind. But even so, very interesting.

A nice way to get in touch with Dutch culture and look into the past. The museum is huge and you can spend the whole day there and still not have enough time see everything. It's a wonderful place for people of all ages and it is also pet friendly.

It didn't expect it to be so large and so rich of contents. From what I've seen from google, it seems like a fun destination. A destination where a family can enjoy together. Yes it is. But, it's much more than that. It basically tells you how Dutch people lived in the past, both the beauty and the ugliness. The sites are rather simple, but they tell the story well.
Me and my wife always walk slowly in a museum to understand what is the story and what are the interesting facts. We always walk with google in our hand to understand the context. For this particular museum, it's exhausting and time consuming to do so since it's so large. So, go twice or thrice!

A brief and detailed glimpse to the history of the Dutch people. This place has all the real 1:1 replicas of the houses, people lived in. Farmhouses, cheese factory, blacksmith and more. There are also live demos of actors which help to demonstrate the lifestyle that was back then.
The place also has a small train which circles the whole park, and stops on each interest point, the children loved it. We spent here half a day, some people spend here almost the entire day, depends on the ages of the children. There is also a children’s place where the can run and climb, in front of it you can find a small restaurant which offers soups, beer, wine and more

Tip: Make use of the train after experiencing each section to save on energy. Pick a few interesting parts within each section if you want to see it all in one day
Tip 2: There are a lot of family oriented activities such as back to past dress-up photography. I enjoyed that.
Tip 3: It's not busy at entry but I always find it handy to buy tickets online.
Tip 4: Wear comfortable footwear. You will walk a lot. Adds to the fun though.

Very nice town and castle to visit. One of the oldest in The Netherlands. Very interesting history, especially for people interested in old coins, as it used to be owned by the family that also ran the local Mint, which is across the street. Also the place where a witch was condemned to death in the Middle Ages, which was a rare event in The Netherlands. From here it is a short drive to where the Rhine River enters The Netherlands. I'm not a big fan of zoos, I was here with my team from work and I had little investment in the process of deciding a destination.
Although this looks much better maintained than a lot zoos I remember, I can't imagine this being in favor of the animals.
The different themed areas are nicely designed and there's a lot spaces to keep children busy, which is great because you rarely hear kids screaming.
Of course the shops and restaurants are expensive and sell the usual shirts, key chains, plates, you name it.
In contrast to Germany, you can pay everything anywhere with card or mobile. Love that.

The chimpansee and gorilla enclosures are also impressive. Enough restaurants. The food/souvenirs were expensive. The ticket price is fitting for such a nice zoo. The pathways are also very accessible for strollers. Very accessible for toddlers all around. This Zoo has perfected being a Zoo.

Very big zoo, with a large range of animals. There's also three playgrounds, one of which is indoors.
The animals seem well cared for and their cages are not too small.
The layout is a bit confusing and a few more sanitary stations could be added. There's a musical now, and the logo on the plan obscures a few paths. I would recommend using the plan from their website, as it doesn't feature the stupid ad and you can actually see _all_ the paths.
Admission price is very steep. On top of that, €8 for parking seems very excessive. But hey, judging by the amount of people there on a rainy day, they can get away with it.

Furthermore there is a huge variety in places where to eat with each having there own theme. The prices are high that is true but we'll spend.

Incredibly gorgeous place, they don't just have amazing animals but the park itself is also amazing to walk through without even looking to the animals. But the animals are amazing too, such a variety! Make sure to be early because we got lucky to see nearly all animals because they were feeding them.

An amazing Zoo to visit with kids. There are many restaurants and kids playgrounds.
The ocean (aquarium) is breath taking, huge and has a variety of sea animals.
The concept of different environments is a real interesting experience.
You can easily spend 5 hours here if you have kids!

Well maintained zoo.. lots of species in zoo and taken care very well. Mangrove is very good to hop around for butterflies within its Evo system. Lot of greenery around and oceans section is also one of the highlight..

A lovely zoo for all ages. The zoo is divided into several different zones which are very nicely dressed accordingly. What I personally likes a lot was the safari restaurant which was spacious and had a lovely view over the safari enclosure. Here, you could grab a snack or drink while watching safari animals like giraffe's and zebras. The prices for the food here are quite on the high-end in my opinion though. Another touch I liked where the small "offroad" trails in the bush area which gave me a real exploring feeling.

We really enjoyed our visit at Burgers' Zoo. The park has a lot of area's (Ocean, Bush, Mangrove, Desert etc) where you can wander around. You can clearly see a lot of love went into creating and maintaining these areas. Food at the restaurants is a bit on the expensive side so you might want to consider bringing your own.

Still, I think, the best Zoo in The Netherlands. Explored it and was again amazed by the Ocean, Safari, Dessert etc. Enough parking, no waiting at entrance (our luck) at plenty of restaurants to have a rest. Burgers' Zoo, after 30 years since my last visit, still on no. 1

Such a wonderful place for these beautiful animals. The zoo is not only well maintained but the residents here are looking like they enjoy their life so much. Let alone the bush and the dessert area. Infinite fun 🤩

This is one of the best zoos in the Netherlands. I have visited this zoo several times, and it is always an adventure. You can easily spend a day here.
The zoo covers diverse habitats such as deserts, savannas, and oceans. You'll find lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, tigers, and countless bird species, representing a wide range of big and small animals. In a thoughtful manner, the zoo educates the public about how human actions are disrupting the habitats of these animals, plants, and our planet in general. I particularly enjoy the ocean section, where you can observe and learn about various sea animals and plants. It is also highly educational for kids. The animals are well treated, though it's important to note that, being a zoo, they are kept without their will.
There are numerous playgrounds for kids. While the zoo offers several restaurants, they tend to be overpriced and not the best in terms of quality. Be sure to prepare yourself well for a long and adventurous day.

Top day out!!! A zoo with different themes and play areas.
Easy to walk around, not too big and plenty of restaurants and a picnic area overlooking the giraffes!

The zoo is amazing! It is the best place to spend the day with kids! There are playgrounds, an aquarium, many wonderful pavilions with a variety of plants and animals. Many of the animals can be seen up close, and they are in a large area, not at all like cages, which does not make me sad. The menu of the restaurants is a disappointment, I think it could be much more varied and healthy. Otherwise everything is marvellous!

Best zoo I've ever been to. Most animals have enough space, live in similar habitats as they do in the wild. The biomes flow into eachother.
Kaas Kop — Google review
They have an amazing inside area, so even on rainy days its a great visit. If you buy the yearly subscription, you can go in without any effort however many times you want, great for regular walks too! With family, alone, doesn't matter, this zoo is for everyone. Just be polite to the animals and respect the staff members. They do amazing work for this zoo. If there is any place I would like to see improved its the dessert area, the dessert area is the most unpopular area, mainly because there aren't as many animals to see like the Bush, Ocean or Mangrove. They are around you in the dessert but not really, I'd love to see more unique dessert animals that work well with visitors walking through. For example reptiles, but of course this wouldn't work well if you have a Lynx and Warthogs there. So I get their choices, but I think the dessert area could definitely use a revamp. Other than that the rest of the zoo is amazing. There is also a bird area in the back which could use some more love. My 2nd favorite zoo in the netherlands!

The park Sonsbeek is a large and expansive green space with a mansion from the 18th century, fountains, and a water mill. It's also home to a tea house.
Huge and a very natural park. Gets a little windy because there is some height compared to the city.
Have different kinds of birds, they're pretty.
There is also a water museum inside but it is mostly fun for children.

Nice park near the central station. A lot of ducks which was amazing. Unfortunately not a lot of benches under trees where you can hide from the sun in the summer. But overall good place to take a morning run or walk with your dog.
Station Arnhem Centraal is conveniently located, making it easy to access the downtown area on foot within minutes. It offers various transportation options, including connections to Germany via the ICE train and multiple parking garages for those traveling by car. The station boasts impressive architecture with a spacious and well-lit interior, along with a few shops for grabbing a quick bite. Overall, it's a great hub for reaching different destinations and enjoying its modern design.

The John Frost Bridge, located in Arnhem, is a famous bridge that was rebuilt in 1948 and named after Major-General Frost. It played a crucial role in the Battle of Arnhem during World War II when British forces defended it against the Germans. The Allied Forces attempted to reclaim the bridge but were unsuccessful, making it known as "A Bridge Too Far." Nowadays, visitors can walk or cycle across the bridge and stand where history was made.
A critical site of WWII history! Arnhem Bridge, now called the John Frost Bridge. The original was built in 1935; blown up by the Dutch in May 1940; rebuilt by the Germans in 1942; damaged by American bombers in Oct ‘44; blown JPB y the Nazis in Feb 1945; rebuilt and opened in 1950. Watch out for mopeds on the sidewalk. LTC John Frost commanded 2d para. He and his men approached the bridge along he lower road, close to the river Neder Rijn. In the movie “A Bridge too Far” Anthony Hopkins plays Frost. Frost was a POW and rose to the rank of Major General.

If you like military history or have ever seen the film "a bridge too far" then this is one of the locations to visit to see living history in action. However be aware that this bridge was destroyed by american bombers after the failed attempt to capture it, although it was later rebuild to the same standard.

It's a bridge.. it is THE bridge of the 2nd WW, but still, just a bridge.
Cycling over it in the morning or afternoon you get an enormous amount of smog on the bridge due to the heavy traffic. Other than that, no real downsides.

The best way to visit the John Frostbridge is while taking a guided tour with the ArnhemLife company. The expert tour guides will be able to tell you the story of the Battle of Arnhem in september 1944.

Inspired by ‘A Bridge Too Far’, it was my childhood dream to visit these key objectives in Operation Market Garden. Famous for being the biggest allied airborne operation in WW2, it is also infamous for being the biggest failure in allied military history.
Lest we forget.

Wonderful site to visit for anyone interested in World War II history or that is a fan of the movie "A Bridge Too Far." The Arnhem bridge was the bridge the Allies fell short of taking in Operation Market Garden in September 1944. The current bridge was named in honor of the British Lt. Colonel John Frost of the British 1st Airborne Division who led a small force of 740 men in a valiant attempt to take the bridge. German forces at the bridge proved much stronger than expected and American and British reinforcements were delayed by unexpected German resistance on the road to Arnhem. After four days of fighting, the British force at the bridge was overrun. The movie was not filmed here at the bridge because the buildings had changed so much in the ensuing years that the location no longer resembled its appearance in 1944. The bridge in the film is located at Deventer several miles away. A great site to visit for the history buff!
Bill Delperdange — Google review
The original John Frost bridge is well worth a visit if you are interrested in Market Garden. "A bridge to far" was not filmed here but rather in Deventer, 35 km from Arnhem, on the with Wilhelmina bridge.

The bridge is a reminder of a very sad episode of world war 2 and the sacrifices made to liberate Europe from Nazi rule.
A lesson from the past that we need to wake up to so it does not happen again.

Great piece of history and well worth the visit, you get a real sense of what went on in this place, way back on the 17'th September 1944. There is a good museum that is free to enter and very informative, with a small display and good loos. Definitely worth a visit if you in to your WWII history as it is a beautiful place to visit even if it's a stroll down the river to check out the local bars. Please give me a like for the review many thanks Marcus 😃

Explore on site what happened here late September 1944 when Montgomery’s troops were marching rapidly north through Holland, taking one after another vital river crossings on their way towards the hearth of the Third Reich, and then found this a bridge too far : now called the John Frost Bridge after the commander of the Battalion that held it for a night but then lost to see Hitler’s Germany win its last battle of 2nd World War. Philosophise with the ladies keeping the memorial center at the river embankment on how different Europe might have looked had it gone the other way.

The only problem was that there were no explanations in English only in Dutch.

Nature as an unit, life is ours only temporary, all you have today tomorrow could be dust,,,themes of painting.

The Mondriaan House is a contemporary museum that showcases the life and works of Piet Mondrian, a renowned artist from the De Stijl Movement. The establishment is located in his birthplace and offers an intriguing collection of art pieces, activities for children, and informative exhibits on the artist's story. Apart from being able to admire Mondrian's fascinating artworks, visitors can also enjoy watching videos related to his career or participate in coloring activities inspired by his unique style.

Absolutely loved this place. Didn’t expect to much from it but knowing it was about Piet Mondriaan I had to go here and visit it. It’s a decently small museum but packs a lot of informative and interesting details about the artists artworks and his life. I had an all inclusive arrangement for 4 days and unfortunatelly the cleanliness of the room was really bad (dust, spiderwebs, mood, not good mattress) The drain in the shower was stuck, so to take a shower was a nightmare because the water start to go up. The shower was also not clean, mood everywhere. I reported to the reception, they promissed to fix it, but never was fixed in the 3 days. It is really a pitty because for the rest was according my expectations, food was good, friendly employees, park good for kids under 7 - 8 years, nice areas to relax and have a nice coffee. However, sleeping and cleanliness for me is a must doesnt matter the number of stars so never come again.

I didn’t even want to give 1 star but I had no choice, this place is by far THE WORST place I’ve ever stayed in. I was here for 4 days for a dance competition and the way we were treated by staff is abysmal. The food was mediocre, the place on a whole was disgusting and dirty. There was hair all over the bathroom, the cleanliness was none existent. I don’t understand how Wunderland still exists because honestly it’s rancid! There was one young girl on reception who helped me to change my room and her service was excellent, but the other staff were rude to children and put hands on them. I am astounded at how many good reviews this place has. I would avoid at all costs! i will never ever visit this place in my life again! the water and drinks machines were switched off when the kids needed a drink. i came from the UK where we treat everyone with the same respect. im highly disappointed and please just DO NOT VISIT this place.

Clearly staff have issues with children and have no patience for them within the restaurant. Truly shocked at the treatment of other people's children to the point of keeping mine close at all times due to manhandling that they seem to deem acceptable within this establishment. They have Security that have been waiting to physically assault anyone with no prior cause and this is just unacceptable. I witnessed them put a innocent bystander in a headlock for just being there and one member of the public assaulted for producing a phone to document the ordeal. It is really a shame as I thought this trip to Germany from the UK would not fall into the expected uncomfortable treatment. But I was poorly mistaken. Rooms unclean and old. Would not recommend or ever return. 👎🏽

Great zoo with a lot of attractions and activities for the kids. Big enough, nicely planned, visually rich. The place is wheelchair friendly and stroller friendly and lot of toilets are also there.
You can find from acquatic to terrestrial and some wild animals all in here.
Must visit
Thank you so much to the group of local residents that do such a wonderful job of maintaining, respecting and honoring this special place. I greatly appreciate the opportunity we had to visit from Vulcan, Alberta, Canada. I’m sorry for what the local people endured, and glad we can all experience the freedom everyone worked together to regain.

Beautiful, serene, well groomed and excellently maintained memorial park. A fitting place to honour our young soldiers who gave their lives for the freedoms we enjoy today. The commemorative and visitors books are not too be missed. Thanks to the Dutch government for this priceless gift.

As with all the Commonwealth Wargraves they are gardens which are kept to the highest standard, humbling, serene and beautiful. Besides the canadian service men, there are other nationalities laid to rest, among them a Dutch soldier.

Museum with a parachute-shaped venue & exhibits on the liberation of the Netherlands in WWII.
An intense and emotional visit. As we were told during the introduction, truly a freedom and people museum before being a war museum. I learned a lot about the history of the region also, as a newcomer, it was even more interesting. Workers and volunteers did an amazing job with this place, highly recommended.

Amazing small museum about WWII’s Operation Market Garden the impact to the area, with a focus on the need to maintain freedom for all. Martin, one of the docents lived through the war and the operation as a child. Amazing to hear a firsthand account.

The Freedom Museum explains very well the causes, conflict and outcome of World War Two with a particular focus on Operation Market Garden.
The events of the Paratrooper landing and battles which ensued, as well as the civilian experience of war and resistance are very well exhibited. The array of items and audio visual experiences I saw are some of the best I've seen from a war museum. For only 8 euros as a student and a WW2 reader, it was money very well spent.
Special thanks to the Stagg and their expertise and passion for keeping the museum's message of liberation alive.

This place seems like a older museum. But nevertheless it's worth a visit. A lot of stuff describing how the Dutch was living during the German occupation during the Second World War. Also tell the unknown story (for some) about the rebuilding of the country.

Museum of Freedom: Groesbeek, Province of Gelderland, eastern Netherlands, Dingesdaeg, June 7, 2022.
Interesting space in an innovative housing construction. The main exhibition takes participants along a journey that commences just one year following the first International Peace Conference held at The Hague in 1899.
That international gathering took place at the invitation of Wilhelmina, Monarch of the Dutchlish, but was the brainchild of her second-cousin, Tzar Nicholas II, Emperor of Russia, in St Petersburg.
The Russia Tzar was alerted to the pending and imminent danger of mass annihilation by a Polish industrialist, by the name of Ivan Bloch, and who warned the Russian Tzar that the contemporary scientific innovations around the development of the machine-gun during the 1880s would lead to a situation whereby 'traditional' warfare (as it was known throughout the 1800s since the Irishman Arthur Wellesley defeated French Emperor Napoleon at Waterloo) would be no longer possible and instead could lead to a situation whereby warfare would become 'unwinnable', creating 'intractable stalemate'.
Queen Wilhelmina made 'Huis Ten Bosch' available for that (First) Hague Peace Conference in 1899. And, at that first ever international peace conference, it was decided to establish an international 'Permanent Court of Arbitration' and to build a special 'Peace Palace' for that precise purpose. Wilhelmina herself was present at the opening of the Peace Palace at The Hague in 1913.
Alas, events in Serbia the following year would trigger precisely that which the railroad magnate and Polish-born author, banker and railway financier Ivan Gotlib Bloch had already warned Tzar Nicholas about in 1899 in his acclaimed publication: 'Is War Now Impossible? (Vol. 1, 1899) and 'The future of war; in its technical, economic, and political relations.' (Vol. 2, 1899).
The museum exhibition takes participants on a journey throughout the twentieth century and the two World Wars that scarred it completely.
Specific focus is given to the particular role played by the southeastern Netherlands during the closing battles of the Second World War 1944/45, and the plight of the native, civilian population when the greatest armies to have ever assembled themselves met on opposite sides of the Great Rivers that divide the southern Netherlands' landscape in the autumn of 1944.

The Grizzly I Cruiser tank at the museum's parking lot was painted to resemble the Regimental HQ command tank of the Sherwood Rangers Yeomanry – one of the three tank regiments in the British 8th Armoured Brigade, whose insignia was a red fox‘s mask on a yellow background. The yellow diamond stood for the Regimental Headquarters Squadron, while tanks in A Squadron were marked with a triangle, those in B Squadron with a square and C Squadron with a circle. The SRY was the first British unit to cross into German territory in September 1944 and its tanks played a vital role in the liberation of the Groesbeek area. However, they were not operating Canadian-built Grizzlies, but American-supplied 75 mm Shermans and Firefly conversions. Originally a Canadian Ram II OP tank, which had previously been serving as a gate guard at Amersfoort, was placed at the Sherwood Rangers Monument in Groesbeek. In 1988 it was swapped for a more appropriate Sherman from The Tank Museum in Bovington. This vehicle, which was at some point equipped with the late vision cupola, was one of the Grizzlies supplied to Portugal under NATO’s Mutual Defence Assistance Program (MDAP) in the early 1950s. When Portugal modernised their fleet in the 1980s, many of their tanks were sold to British museums and private collectors. In 2010 the Groesbeek Grizzly was briefly restored in Wakefield, UK.

Military museum that explains the story of WWII, with the heavy emphasis on Operation Market Garden because of the battle being fought in this area. Also there is an exhibit where you must solve who is the double agent. Because it is not a large museum, I wish there were more artifacts displayed.

This is a fantastic, interactive, liberation museum at Groesbeek that gives you an awesome experience to what happened at WW I and WW II during Operation Market Garden and Veritable.
To let people realize the Russian invasion in Ukraine, a damaged Russian tank and Ukranian ambulance with a shot window pane is placed just outside the entrance of the museum to express the impact of this unnecessary war.

A very nice hidden away place where you can enjoy music on a warm Sunday afternoon. Absolutely lovely area, lots of green, the castle surrounded by water, with an authentic bridge leading up to it. As far as I understand there is a restaurant running here and it is a very nice spot for a marriage ceremony or possibly even a wedding. Even though it's busy today, still a peaceful place to be and relax.

The Gardens of Appeltern is a vast park that serves as an excellent source of inspiration for garden enthusiasts. It features a plant market and hosts an annual garden festival, making it the perfect place to gather ideas for your home garden. However, visitors may want to ensure that there are no events such as funeral exhibitions taking place during their visit, as this can be upsetting.
We had a wonderful time there, even though it was one of the hottest days of the year. Shade was impossible to find but then our mom's birthday really let her shine.
Maarten Kraak — Google review
Wonderful place to get good ideas to design your garden. A large variety of flowers, plants and trees to look throughout all the different designs splitted in 4 area's.
The advice is to visit Appeltern gardens by end of April when the weather is better and flowers are having more blossom.
During our visit the blue and purple area were pretty empty so nothing to see there, We think this should be reflected in the entry price. So best visit time is June till September.

If you're looking for inspiration to develop your garden further, look no further. This place is packed with inspired and creative design ideas.
Spoilt however by the Funeral exhibition set in the grounds when we were there. As a family who suffered losses during Covid, to be forced to walk past coffins and hearses was very upsetting. We weren't told that we would be faced with these very upsetting scenes when we bought our tickets. Best to check that they aren't having similar events before you go.

A wonderful, inspiring place, I recommend it to every fan of gardens, but also to those who like nature. You need to find time for at least 4 hours. In the area there are opportunities to have a snack or coffee and sit directly in the gardens

Very beautiful gardens. Great if you need inspiration for your garden or just like looking at plants. We had a great day. The parking was good and costs 3 euro.
We were a bit disappointed by the quality of the food but that is personal preference.
There are a lot of paths to follow and a recommended route would have been nice (if there is one I am sorry I missed it. )

Big cats, giraffes & flamingoes in a safari park with animals encounters & feeding sessions.
Great and beautiful zoo with lots of nature. There s a large parking area across the road (3 mins walking tops) bathrooms after the entrance are very clean. Lots of space on the paths, with beautiful green grass, trees bushes and so on. Animals look taken care of and very healthy. As far as I've seen there are also some breeding programs for the endangered animals. Staff is very nice and helpful near the enclosures. If you've got any questions, they'll try to answer them.
Do take your boots with you after rain has fallen. Pathways will get quite muddy. Toilet areas later on are a bit dirtier menwise. Prices for a cappuccino were around 2,75.was ok for a venue. 5/5 Will visit again.

Amazing zoo for a fun family trip!
The zoo has an amazing route which really doesn't let you down! With fun 'adventure' paths for children to explore and a wide variety of beautiful animals with appropriate environments as well. There are also a lot of animals you can get up close to. So can you walk through the walibi, penguins and monkey paths (be aware they might be curious too).
I can definitely recommend this park to everyone!

This is one well kept, modern, clean and nice zoo!
The environment for both animals and visitors is well tended and looked after. Also experienced it as kids friendly.
ZooParc is complete in its diversity. I can highly recommend a visit; the enclosures are big and mimic natural environments very well (no concrete in sight and no dated or tiny pens as you might encounter in some of the older zoos). If you're going for quality of quantity and find yourself in the neighbourhood, I'd highly recommend a visit.

Nice 'small' Zoo to visit for a morning or afternoon. Good variety of animals, but do not expect very special or exotic animals. Food and drinks are average at best. My daughter mostly liked the 'adventure trails' and the playgrounds.
To be fair; looking at the fee for entry and parking I'd say consider going to a bigger zoo (Burgers Zoo in Arnhem for instance). The price will be almost the same, but longer stay and overall better experience.

A very nice zoo with a well thought out layout.
Visiting this zoo is a delight, because the round trip really leads you past all the animals There are adventure paths for children to follow which helps in keeping the younger visitors excited on the way.
If that doesn't tire them out, there is a huge playground next to the entrance.
That said, the animals are well cared for and held in a way that really lets you get close to them. Wonderful!
Oh, better purchase your tickets in advance via the website to save a few bucks.
The Overloon War Museum is a large museum in the town of Overloon that focuses on WWII history, displaying military vehicles and weapons while also highlighting a local battle. The museum has been recently renovated and offers visitors the opportunity to learn about past wars, particularly WWII. One highlight of the museum is the Militracks Weekend held in May each year, which features displays of army vehicles, tanks, jeeps, and markets.
Initial exhibition area at the front of the museum is a wide open and quite sparsely populated. But as soon as you get to the large "storage hall" in the back that is where all the hardware is stored.
An excellent exhibit is the Lancaster that was dug up from the mud with all the pieces located as part of the fuselage.
Other hardware is in great shape with loads of pieces from tanks trucks and planes.

Impressive museum about the second world war (WW2). This is the best WW2 museum I have been too (so far) that describes the reality of the war. The collection of people that experienced the war was very impressive and interesting. They tell the story of different people in the war. The collection of tanks, artillery, other vehicles and planes is impressive. Around these there are weapons, ammo, shells and electronics ordered. Also very interesting are the military bikes and the impressive amphibious vehicles. This is a museum worth the visit. Also outside there is a big nice park.

One of the most beautiful and detailed war museums I have visited so far. The horrors of WW2 have been explained very well. Must do things when you visit are climbing inside a tank and seeing the hundreds of bombs, bullets and missiles that have been displayed.
The tagline "War belongs in a museum" best fits this place... Worth visiting

It starts off with a lot of interesting information about the netherlands in WW2.
The items are original and the story about it, how it's explained is pretty good.
There is a big hall with alot of vehicles and other war machinery.
They have shelfs and shelfs of different kind of radio's and ammunition / grenades.
And an most impressive layout of the crashed british Lancester NN775.
On the outside there some more tanks and information.

I was very excited to see this museum, and it surely did not disappoint! Tickets can be bought directly on site (no need to book in advance) the whole museum takes around 4-5 hours (if you read everything in depth). Tells the heart breaking history of the occupation of Netherlands. very informative! The information inside is provided in German and i was told that English is also available. At the end there is a huge exhibition of tanks, various vehicles, planes...etc. Simply amazing!!

A must go for everybody with intriguing personal stories to make the war touchable. I went there with my 15 year old daughter and she liked it. I could enrich the displays with some back ground info. Questions like what is a glider, what is a radar, what are these metal tripods doing outside and how does a V-1 fly. I would have liked more explanations on how it all works. Some displays are very unique like the boat Yvette and the Lancaster bomber display. Also why not a recruitment leaflet, how to join the army? There were many schoolkids from some high school when we visited. They should also consider a career in the army. War is not some stuffy thing from the past. It is all around us!

For any WW2 buffs, this is heaven! I spent 4 hours wandering through the exhibits. Many well known and underappreciated pieces were on offer to look over, notably a Panzer V and Stug self propelled gun.
For english speakers, the app to bring up English translations was well worth using to get the most out of this amazing museum in a quaint and very important town in the history of Operation Market Garden.

This was our last stop on our trip to visit WWI battlefields and cut across Belgium and the Netherlands. This is a very comprehensive museum full of great exhibits mostly on WWII. Many of them are based on German equipment which one (at least I never found any) cannot find in Germany proper.
A storyboard tells the story of what it was like living on the border when the Wehrmacht stormed across the border as well as what life was like under German occupation. Loads of exhibits show life on and off the battlefield.
Though most of the museum is aimed at World War II, there are many great exhibits of previous and later conflicts.

A friend recommended visiting and we drove over. Very glad to have had a chance to visit and look at the collection of World War II vehicles, weapons, and exhibits. Was surprised to see the collection included pieces from the Imperial Japanese Navy from across the globe. Also learned quite a bit about the battles fought in the area. Definitely worth the trip!

It was wet weather when we visited, so we only got to tour the inside, however the impact I felt from the museum was huge. The sheer amount and types of vehicles really portrays the scope of the war in a graphic way. The Lancaster wreckage display was very impactful as well.
I would definitely go back to explore the grounds as well if I ever get the chance!

Lovely 'little' zoo. Fun activity for the family on an afternoon. Mostly unpaved paths which are annoying with strollers with small wheels, but it is do-able. They extended a lot over the last 3 years and are working on even more, very curious where it will go.
