The top cities between Playa Blanca and Lisbon are Puerto de la Cruz, Maspalomas, Albufeira, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Evora, Lagos, Cadiz, Pajara, Playa del Ingles, and Tavira. Puerto de la Cruz is the most popular city on the route. It's 6 hours from Playa Blanca and 39 hours from Lisbon.
This luxurious resort overlooking one of the longest white sand beaches in Fuerteventura is perfect for families. There are 3 outdoor pools, a Mediterranean restaurant and a gym, making it the perfect place to relax after a day at the beach. Kids will love the splash park with water jets and mini clubs, while adults can enjoy peace and quiet at one of the outdoor pools or at the spa.
This place was great, I'm already looking at booking for next year. If you want kids to be entertained, this is the place. They work so hard & give it their all. Even during the day, there is stuff going on for adults, etc. Food was what you expect all inclusive, not great if you're a veggie, but you will get by. Staff are so friendly, rooms cleaned every day. Treat sent to your room if it's your birthday....loved it!!!!

What a great holiday! The room we had on the top floor had great views. The buffet was decent, nothing to shout about, but enough variety to please everyone.
The staff (especially the cleaning staff) are great, very helpful and friendly.
The hotel is halfway up a very steep hill so if you aren't very fit then you will probably only be leaving the hotel once a day. Getting back up to the hotel after some beers is a killer.

Brilliant hotel! Absolutely wonderful service and the staff are brilliant. Always willing to offer help, very friendly and extremely hard working! No faults with the hotel. They have two pools, one which was heated and one which wasn't but but both are spacious and vary in depth so there's always somewhere you can stand! The hotel is spotless and the views from some of the rooms are incredible! Can't wait to visit again. The only thing to be wary of is the hill up to the hotel which is very steep, but there is a bus that takes you down once a day which I belive is free but not sure as I didn't use this 😀

Our first trip to this area and we travelled for a 5 dat break to celebrate our anniversary. On arrival we had a lovely welcome from the member of staff on the desk as we checked in. A gift of a free upgrade to a deluxe room as part of our celebration and arrival at our room a free bottle of bubble. This was such a surprise and we were so grateful. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food was great. Hotel was very clean, with all amenities on site and great value for money. We loved the touch of a shuttle bus to get you back and forth the beach. The only addition we would of liked was a provision of a tea and coffee tray in our rooms. However, all in all very good. Would recommend the hotel, especially for those with a young family. Thanks for a wonderful stay. Gareth and Lucy Edwards room 435.

I absolutely loved staying here! All the staff members were lovely and friendly. Food was plentiful, and I had no issues with what I ate. Lots of selection. I read comments, saying it got repetitive, but that's the same as any hotel! Just go for a week, and that won't be an issue! The hotel was so clean and tidy. Very big hotel, lots of space! We had no issue getting sunbeds. The pool bar food was also lovely. The beach involves a big walk, up and down a steep hill, but it's definitely worth it! I would definitely go back!

The rooms were nice but our AC didn't work and when we asked about it at the front desk they said they would send someone to fix it...they never came, three different times we asked and they said someone would come but it never happened. We gave up and just delt with a hot room. AC worked great in our other room we booked for our parents though. Grounds were in need of upkeep and maintenance. Roaches were on the walls of the bar in the hotel and in the public bathrooms. Food was alright for the price. Pools were clean and nice. Great gym but not open in hrs that worked for our schedule. None of the kid activities we wanted to do were open during our stay "princess for a day". Mini golf was closed down so we could not do that during our stay either. There were not many things to do at the resort other than swim in their two pools.

Lovely hotel, multi cultural which is nice, no fighting for sun beds in the morning which is a welcomed bonus. Food good choice in general as well as drinks.
Children’s entertainment staff (under 12’s) were great especially Sara, Marie and Esther a special mention there, Our girls have never done a kids club before but asked to go nearly daily and enjoyed the range of activities on offer.
Staff generally happy and helpful.
Room Cleaning was basic and a little rushed/incomplete especially as the wind was so high our balcony was never cleaned thoroughly enough.
Only shock was 12pm lights out all off, felt like you were being told to go to bed literally.
Water in room would had been a nice touch also.
The hill is very steep so a taxi is recommended.
But In General we had a lovely stay.

The room looks exactly as described, and very clean, the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Food is delicious and there are a lot of different dishes every time. Hotel is on the hill but it guarantees nice views of the ocean. The walk to the beach is approx 15 min, maybe slightly longer for return. Overall a very good experience!

This place is just perfect. We had half board at the hotel. The food menu was varied. The hotel is situated on a hill and we had a beautiful view from the room. Our room was not accessible by elevator, but it wasn't a big problem. The rooms are very cozy and clean, equipped with air conditioning. The bathroom is spacious with a bathtub. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Lovely hotel, although be warned, there is a steep walk from the hotel down to the town or sea... the food was probably the some of the best mass catered food I've ever had.
Only complaint was lack of info telling us that as half boarders we were only entitled to free water and coffee even with our evening meal.

Myself and my fiance have just spent a week here, absolutely beautiful hotel, the food was varied but always lovely. The room was very spacious and clean. The pools are very clean and plenty of sunbeds so no need to put your towels on 😀 all the staff were lovely and always greeted you with a smile. If you want a relaxing time then it's great, although it is very family/kids friendly so be prepared but there are quiet spots to sit away if you want to. The walk to the beach is on a downhill slope but a free bus runs if you don't want to walk. A taxi back was great for us and only 5 euros! No nightlife nearby but there is entertainment a few times and always stuff for the kids. All in all we really enjoyed it and recommend it.

Nice hotel, a little tired looking but clean and tidy. Food was average. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Had a wonderful week in the autumn sun!

Lovely hotel. I read bad reviews about the food before we went but we had no issues. The food area is huge so walk around before you start piling your plate! The fresh fish is great and there's meat, fish or desserts cooked fresh to order at dinner.
If you've got boring English kiddos then there's pasta, pizza, fries, nuggets and cucumber every day.
Wine glases on tables and you're encouraged as all inclusive to bring those bottles to your table
I often go meat free on holiday and have lifetime vegans in my family unit. Their salad/pasta/ rice options weren't as good as some hotels, but equally nothing to complain about.
Overall, if you want to relax, eat and drink then I totally recommend 👌

Lovely hotel, great if you are fit as a fiddle. Lots of steps to climb to get to your room as lifts only go half way, then you have to climb, climb, climb. Food is of a good standard and plentiful but as with all inclusive deals it gets a bit monotonous after a few days as there seems to be a lot of repeat dishes and an awful lot of fish dishes. That said, there was always something on the menu to suit and I never went hungry. Our rooms were spacious and very clean. I was disappointed that there was no kettle to make a drink but the hotel was very accommodating and provided one immediately when we asked for one. The staff were fantastic! Nothing was too much trouble and their smiles were genuine and on their faces all day and night. They provided a first class service and made our stay perfect.

The hotel does not look like 4* hotel.
Actually it is really outdated and in a huge need of renovation.
Reception staff are very nice only during checking in.
The approach is totally different when you need something or you have a problem.
We had a problem with our bathroom when the water wouldn’t go down the toilet and also water was coming up the bath tub waste.
Both the bathroom and the bedroom was filled with a horrible waste stink.
We reported this to the reception 3 times over 2 days (2 times in person and 1 time over the phone)
It was logged only once and with ‘problem with toilet’ only - which the manager used as an explanation.
We were fobbed off and heard lies that somebody will come over to fix.
The only thing that worked was us denying to go back to that room with our kids.
Treating your clients like that is just unacceptable!!!
The dining area is very busy and messy at peak times (although the staff are very nice).
Simply not ready to accommodate the people in the hotel.
We will not come back to this place. Our advice - Best to stay away.

We have just come back from an Easter break. Although the rooms are a bit dated, they are lovely, spacious and clean. The food was excellent. Meat & fish stations, pasta, pizza, paella, fresh bread, smoothies, fruit and lovely salads. Also a nice desert station and a separate kids buffet which my son loved. The in house entertainment was average at best, I honestly expected more. There was a Tina Turner tribute act who was excellent though.
The onsite water park is brilliant. Lovely and clean and so much fun. The heated pool is excellent, especially as the weather was chilly for a couple of days.
The one thing I was disappointed with was when checking out. My 3 year old son had been poorly for a couple of days and was much worse on the last day. The onsite doctor arrived at 11am so I took him down. I then had to travel via a taxi to a pharmacy to pick up his prescription. It meant I was late checking out of the room by 40 minutes. I explained the situation to the receptionist but she insisted I had to pay 22 euros for the late check out.

Nice place for a holiday. The hotel as a whole was maintained very well. Staff were friendly, and there were plenty of sunbeds around the pool. Our rooms were sea view rooms. However, there was another hotel complex in front of this hotel blocking most of the sea. Rooms were very dated and needed to be upgraded. Walk to the beach is pleasant. However, the walk back is very uphill.

We stayed here for 5 days at the end of January. The staff, location and food were excellent. The pools are really clean and there's plenty of space and sunbeds. Very good selection of food at the restaurant, with lots of seafood. Big variety of drinks and exceptional view from the hotel. The beach is a 10 minute walk. We loved our stay here 😊

Firstly, you might think too far from airport but you'll be mistaken; it goes like the breeze. Our initial welcome set the tone, and our holiday began. Room was very spacious overlooking the resort with a view to the beach. What was very noticeable throughout the resort, especially our room, was the general cleanliness (A+ to our room attendant). Credit to the Food & Beverage team. The food was great, and the theme changed daily, and it had flavour, yes, distinguishable flavour. My hat goes off to Restaurant team for keeping it professional when the footfall increased but managed to service everyone, thank you! Bonus, beach on the doorstep (delight) with multiple shops nearby. The water park was a good addition too. Special thanks for my wife's birthday treat, which was a pleasant surprise. Overall, good resort for families and couples alike.

Maspalomas is a town located in the southern part of Gran Canaria, which is one of Spain’s Canary Islands. The area is famous for its vast coastal dunes, which are part of the Maspalomas Dunes nature reserve. This reserve has an array of ecosystems including palm groves, La Charca Lagoon and bird-rich dunes such as herons, plovers and snipes.
The Playa Del Ingles beach in Gran Canaria is one of the main tourist destinations on the island. The wide golden sand and calm waters are next to the Maspalomas Dunes Nature Reserve, making it a great spot for swimming, sunbathing and windsurfing. There's also a good range of accommodation options close by, as well as plenty of bars and restaurants.
On Gran Canaria we went to some beaches to test out. This is in my opinion the best beach and I really loved it!
The sandy beach is so clean. It feels good for your bare feet. The water is clean, no algae. In the surrounding there are a lot of restaurants, shops and hotels. Also our hotel was nearby so it was a five minute walk to the beach. My wife and I loved to simply walk the coastline or simply lie down and enjoy the sun.
One thing worth to mention is the wind. It can be good or bad. You get to face high waves in afternoon due to wind and it can be big fun. But also wind makes the temperature feel colder, which is bad.

Nice beach area and beach itself but the area immediately around it needs modernisation as lots places run-down or closed down ie the places around the car park by the beach.
Convenient car park by the beach but cost us 13 euros for the day - we could have found cheaper parking though.
Lovely boardwalk along the beach that stretches for miles in both directions that is modern and clean.
Beach are itself is lovely and sandy and clean and because it’s so big even on a sunny weekend day it’s not over-crowded like some resorts.
2 stars due to the immediate surrounding area that feels cheap.
Sue Vogt-Skard — Google review
The beach is quite spacious, clean and well-kept, and the golden yellow sand, lovely.
The wind is felt, and if you can sunbathe between 10:00 and 16:00 (early Juaniary), then after 4pm you may need a light coat.
In some places, there are many areas set up with sun loungers and umbrellas that occupy good parts of the beach, and you can't sit with a blanket on the sand, unless you go a little further.
On the beach, at certain distances, there are stalls selling drinks (cold and hot) and something to eat.
Toilets are also located there.
Garbage containers are also located at suitable distances on the beach.
Of course it depends on the weather conditions, but when I went in early January - the weather was good and the water calm, clear and warm. Only one day there were stronger waves, but it was still interesting playing with the waves. :)
P.S. Paracetamol is expensive here, €8.00, so you can take it with you in case of need.

It’s a beach :) Two beds and a umbrella will run you ~8 euros (not a bad deal). If you’re in the area, great - but I wouldn’t be making a trek from other parts of the island just for it. It’s your general busy beach with some shops and drinks.

We went to Maspalomas (Playa del Ingles) to go to the Saturday market but this was a disappointment. The market covers a huge area but the stalls were all repetitive, similar clothes, leather goods, towels, table cloths etc. Later we went down to the beach area and found that the shops along the walkway near the dunes had a far better variety of merchandise and holiday trinkets for tourists.

This beach was the most disappointing one so far. I can't understand the ratings to be fair. It's windy, the waves are big, so it's not really family friendly. Few toilets and obviously not free. Everything is about rip off. The bars are here from the 80s, the whole place is dirty and uncool.

If you're looking to enjoy a scenic view while soaking up some rays, Ponta da Piedade should be at the top of your list!
Breathtaking views 😍. Must visit place. We visited during early spring, so there was not much people. So we could see everything properly with our own time. The only drawback is that the public transport connection is not so good. But if you can drive there is no problem.

I was very lucky to have amazing weather . From Lagos station I took the walk all the way to this place and I was not disappointed. It was so worth it . This is one of the most beautiful cliffs beach I have seen so far . The road down to the beach is steep but you have long set of wooden stairs leading to the ground level . However , to appreciate this treasure , the best is from above . There is public toilet there an little restaurant . Also from here , you can explore walking on right side of the cliff or left side . Either way you will decided to go , you will see great landscapes .

A beautiful scenic spot and the rocks are amazing. You have to take stairs down to the beach. One of small beaches have a lot seed weeds or algae (I’m not sure). But caves are very beautiful. It’s close to a large beach. Huge.

We paid €20 per person for a 40 min tour around the main caves. They only accept cash, so make sure you bring it with you, otherwise you will need to walk upstairs again. The only annoying thing is the guy smoking around that beautiful nature and we could find some cigarette butts around, which is really sad.

Beautiful views of the cliffs and the sea stacks. There's a nice wooden boardwalk but do get off it for better views.
Unfortunately there were no boat tours available due to rough seas.

Near a restaurant that has a path down to many steps to a small platform at the sea where you can rent a boat for $20€ per person for 30 minutes to take you into the caves, but make sure you go when the water is calm. Note, there is no beach, but if you access another set of stairs, it will take you to the nearby beaches. Absolutely gorgeous views and natural arches.

Such an amazing place! Take one of the trails or go down the main path to the water where the boats stop. Beware of the steps - what goes down must come up 😂 - it maybe quite the undertaking going up those steps in a hot afternoon under the scorching sun! The landscape is beautiful, the rocks, the formations, the vivid colors of the place are so out of this world! Highly recommend you add it to your trip itinerary!

Beautiful hiking area overlooking the Praia. Parking area up top and restaurant overlooking the entrance stairs, which descend quite a way down to a small beach area. We preferred the views at the top to the crowded beach below. There are kayak s, paddle boards, etc to rent at the shore. 🤙

Great views, especially during sunset. The boardwalk leading to here (and further west) is a nice safe walk.
If you were to walk out of the boardwalk to go further out, be careful! The land is dry and soft. Proceed with caution.

Really amazing cliffs, whether from the sea side or from above on the walkway, the view is amazing. The boat tours are recommendable as they drive you as far inside the caves as possible.

This area is fantastic, and it now has miles and miles of wooden walkways which makes walking along the cliff tops so much easier, there are also lots of purpose built view points which will enable you to take some fantastic scenery photos. Near the lighthouse is a walkway which lots and lots of stone steps which lead right down to the waters edge between all the beautiful stunning rocks which sit in the sea and are really stunning and photogenic. I personally think this area has some of the most beautiful scenery in the Algarve and is a Must to visit. There is lots of free parking close to the lighthouse and will give you a choice of different walks which you can go on along the various walkways.

This trail rewards visitor with stunning panoramic views of rich green, orange, and blue. Although there is a paved walkway and raised wooden paths, there are also well worn dirt paths that wind along cliffs and through nature. We opted for the natural trails but stayed a distance from the perilous cliff edges.
Continuing to the end of the dirt path, there are steps leading down to a very private beach. This part is more challenging and could be dangerous during high season. We were fortunate to be lone travelers along this stretch. There are other beaches more accessible but, in my opinion, not quite as stunning. The private beach gave fresh perspective to the enormity of the cliffs above. This beach is pictured behind and beneath me in the third photo. The fourth photo features the stone staircase on arrival at the base of the cliff at the beach.
This hike is entirely free and there are multiple paths to choose from starting at restaurant Monte Mar Lagos.

Great view! I'm sure it would be even more stunning on a sunny day. I love that there are so many hiking trails for hiking lovers to enjoy, as well as boardwalk for people who want to go easy. The fact that the parking lot is huge and so close to the viewpoints is a bonus. I highly recommend!
Praia do Camilo is a stunning, sandy beach surrounded by beautiful limestone cliffs in the town of Lagos, in the Algarve region of Portugal. It's a popular spot for swimming, sunbathing and bird-watching, and is accessible by a long wooden staircase and a man-made tunnel through the rocks. Springtime is the best time to visit, when the cliffs are covered in brightly coloured Mediterranean saltbush and saltwort.
WOW! I was amazed by this beach. Just a few minutes drive from Lagos you'll find a very rocky waterline. By taking the boardwalk down, you can reach the beach and by a cave the beach next to it as well.
Only downside is shadow in winter months. Due to the low sun angle, the entire beach was covered by shadow early in the afternoon... If you take that in account (winter only), it's a must visit

Currently inaccessible by land due to broken stairs. And the beach is filled with a thick layer of algae making it difficult to access the water. We visited this beach by kayak in April '24. Without the algae, this would be an amazing and secluded beach. The man-made tunnel connecting the two parts of this beach is pretty cool.

Nice beach! From the main beach there is a tunnel where you can reach a second one. Water is cold (as usual for ocean). Generally the beach is crowded. Worth to go. Under the sun for almost the whole day. I recommend not to be close to water cause the level of the ocean is slightly rising during the day. Recommended.

Beautiful little cove, it can get busy and when the tide comes in, space can be limited. Two small crowded beaches connected with tunnel so not swimmable for us but worth a visit as the surrounding scenery is fantastic. We were here at low tide in the morning so the beach was not under water and there were still few people. Warning signs about falling rocks from which there is no protection are ubiquitous. But the collapsed sidewalk at the viewpoint above beach proves that warnings sometimes come true.

Stunning view. The beach is like a 'wild beach' ,there are no sunbeds and also no public toilets. The view takes your breath. On the beach is a bar with drinks and a few snacks. It was totally worth it to climb so many stairs.
Elena Voicu — Google review
The landscape is unique and breathtaking, however I wouldn't recommend visiting in August.
The beach was packed (and we arrived slightly before 9:30 in the morning), and the water was almost completely black because of the algae.
If you are here in August, I would advise getting in early to enjoy the sights and then going to Praia Mos instead.
Oriana Manda — Google review
The beach is incredibly beautiful but if you visit this area in August be prepared to share it with an insane amount of people, especially during the peak hours. Also, when we visited Praia do Camilo the whole beach was full of seaweed so most people didn’t even try to swim.

This apartments is situated only 300 meters from the beautiful beach of Praia da Dona Ana. It is finished to a very high standard and perfect for relaxing holidays. There are also many shops, restaurants and bars close by.
Very beautiful beach! I would recommend to take a small Boatstour along the coast. Views are amazing

Marinha Beach is a scenic and popular ocean beach located in the Algarve region of Portugal. It is known for its ruggedly beautiful landscape featuring surrounding cliffs and pit caves. Among the beaches in Algarve, Marinha Beach stands out for its stunning views and unique rock formations, making it one of Portugal's most picturesque destinations.
It is considered to be one of the most beautiful beach in Portugal. It is beautiful indeed, but Lagos has also beautiful spots. Nevertheless, the arch with two natural windows is stunning. The view of the beach from above and land is better than from the sea.
Anastasia Karpovets — Google review
Nice (walking) trail on the cliffs to Benagil. Parking's limited but some people offer private parking for a few Euros, so watch out. Would recommend for a nice walk on top which takes not more than 30min one way 😎
Alexander Lackner — Google review
This should be the most famous place in southern Portugal. There is a heart formed by natural rocks. You can shoot your heart by angling it. And after coming out of the parking lot, you can go to the left or right. Because every road is very beautiful, I spent almost half a day here. The naturally formed cliffs and coastlines are very suitable for hikers. It is also very suitable for bringing a VR machine to play. There are several cliffs that we can walk to the end to shoot. When you walk to the end of the cliff, you feel like you have reached the end of the world. It is very spectacular. I enjoy the scenery very much, but be careful and wear non-slip shoes. Note that you should come here early because there are few parking lots and they are almost full, so you can consider using public transportation.

Such a beautiful point in Lagos definitely worth visiting
Bianca — Google review
Simply stunning view. Very picturesque from any angle. The 1.5km hiking trail is worth it, but could get very hot in the afternoon. Wear hat and proper shoes
Wei L. — Google review
The view is amazing both from the ground and the cliffs. Walk paths are thoroughly secured, and you may bump on a cat or two. The beach is small and clean
Moni Ka — Google review
One of the best beaches in the area!! Plenty of other small beaches you can swim too, plenty of rock formations with explorable caves and tunnels. The sand is very soft and the views are great. Parking can get tricky so don’t arrive in the middle of the afternoon. The walk down is about 5-10 mins but is really worth it, there is also a small restaurant available downstairs. Would recommend absolutely

Praia da Marinha is one of the most beautiful and emblematic beaches on the Algarve coast, so much so that it has been ranked among the 5 most beautiful beaches in Portugal and among the 10 best in the world. Thanks to its beauty, it has become the perfect setting for photographic services and reports.
This small beach is surrounded by cliffs eroded over the years, which have generated a variety of rock formations such as arches, caves or natural wells. The most impressive of them is 50 meters high, and all the other small rocks seem to dance around it. The contrast between the crystalline and turquoise colors of the sea with the golden color of the rock is beautiful.
The rocky walls of Praia da Marinha hide the marine diversity present in the territory, such as anemones, sea urchins, starfish and shrimp. In addition, the algae hide cuttlefish and octopus. This corner of preserved nature, almost wild, is very popular among lovers of diving, since here you can take a pleasant walk among the underwater natural beauty of the Algarve
Antoine Calon — Google review
Good beach with food options (cash only) and toilet facilities. The highlight is the little cave passage you can take to the secluded cove next door. People remark about the stairs, but they are not bad at all and very gradual (kid approved).
Alvaro Hoyos — Google review
Amazing beach. Clear water and fine white sand. No sea kelp in early July 2023.
Nitin Bhargava — Google review
Beach is precious but really narrow and hyper-crowded. At the very entrance of the beach on your left you find a tunnel leading to a small cove which is completely shady after midday. The main beach owns a kayak renting service. The bar is a NO CREDIT CARD business. Prices are quite high and the quality is not top but you have no choice because there's nothing else. Parking is a total tragedy. If you're gonna leave your car in the free lot close to Burger King watch out for sandy spots in the upper part! Your car could get stuck!
Stefano Petri — Google review
A beautiful beach and worth the trail ! Be careful doing it in the day time as there’s not any shade and gets very hot. The trail is easy to follow and the views don’t disappoint
Ghislaine Seaton — Google review
What an amazing find - this beach is very accessible with purpose build steps that will take you less than 5 minutes - it’s worth the walk as at the bottom there is stunning cliffs, white sands and constant medium waves to swim against
The beach itself is about 200m and there is also a cafe and w/c
We loved it i

One of the most beautiful beaches I have ever visited on my travels. The beaches in Portugal are some of my favourites.
This beach is only accessible by a long walk down stairs.
Praia da Marinha is one of the most famous beaches of the Algarve, famed for its spectacular setting and turquoise sea waters. During the summer months is super crowded. I’d suggest planning to visit during off season. We were here during March and it was absolutely perfect!
The beach nestles at the base of towering limestone cliffs, which have been eroded into unique formations by rainwater and winter storms.
These formations include a double sea arch, the Arcos Naturais, which lies to the western side of the beach and is one of the most photographed natural features of the Algarve.
We were lucky enough to view the arc also from the water on our boat tour for Benagil Cave.
The sea water is incredibly clear, ideal for snorkelling and swimming.
The beach is supervised by lifeguards during the summer, and the calm waters make the beach ideal for families.
There are several smaller beaches located on the left and right side of the main beach you can explore.

Absolutely stunning ! I recommend going there in the morning to not get sunburnt and to avoid having too many people on the beach
Justine DESMARETZ — Google review
Recommend getting there by 9:30am as the only lot fills up fast - otherwise it is a long hike up a dirt road to the top of the mountain before descending down to the beach. Beautiful beach, amazing views.

Everything you could hope for in a beach: free parking lot, nice and easy trails that hug the cliffs and give you stunning views of the ocean, and a paved path to the beach.

Gorgeous place, and a good starting point for the 7 valleys trail.
Praia de Monte Clérigo is a picturesque beach located on the western Atlantic coast, just a short drive from Aljezur. Flanked by rocky cliffs, this wide-sand beach offers stunning coastal views and tidal pools. The area also features picnic spots and a legendary site called Fonte das Mentiras.
One of our favorite local beaches! In the low season it is great for taking the dogs for a walk along the beach. It is also family friendly and easy to get to by car.
Victoria Terry — Google review
Great beach. No sunloungers, has lifeguards, disabled facilities, toilets, restaurants nearby and surf hire. Can be very busy with parking an issue. That being said plenty of parking on the roads leading to and from the beach and there is plenty of room for everyone to spread out there towels and umbrellas.

Probably our most favourite beach during our Algarve trip. Fun to watch the surf schools, our fun loved playing in the sea puddles that form, climb on the rocks that are also good wind shelter. Surf rentals as well as restaurants around and enough parking at least for a visit end of May.
Bärbel AdM — Google review
Stunning! Not really one beach, but a whole section of coastline at low tide, amazing interesting geological rock formations to fish from, backed by soaring cliffs. Beautiful sand and lots of surfing hire etc in the tiny village which backs the beach. Some good cafes etc You can't really go wrong here for a beach day out!!!

Nice, quiet beach. Fun for families, child friendly. Not crowded. Toilets are OK, clean enough, despite the smell. Not too windy, warm water.

It was definitely our favourite beach among all the beaches around Aljezur we visited. It has great waves for surfers and amazing view from both small hills on both sides of the beach. It never gets too crowded. We spent a week here mid July just when the season started.

This is a stunning beach, with good amenities and a cafe nearby. There a car park that charges, but you can also park along the street. It does get busy so get here early. If you looking for a quiet beach this isn't the one. But, it's got normal roads, parking, and places to eat.

The Zoomarine Algarve theme park in Portugal is a huge facility with slides, pools, an aquarium and more... It's often touted as the biggest attraction around Albufeira, and the zoo here offers much more than the average water park experience.
Absolutely amazing place, especially for families with kids 3-10 y.o. Fun and at the same time cozy and relaxing atmosphere. Dolphins' show was the best. If your child is small enough, he or she could participate in the show during ball game. Pirats' show was also very fun, creative and absolutely amazing.
Everything is done with the idea of respect to nature. A lot of touching moments together with lots of fun.
Olesia — Google review
Water slides & pool are lovely & clean. Dolphin show is amazing. Atmosphere is calm & friendly.
Food is a little pricey & I felt the Pirate show was lacking adventure.
The toilet facilities are good & clean. Lockers are available. You can hire sun loungers & shade - €10. (Or just a lounger for €5)
Parking is free.
I would recommend a visit.
Cot A — Google review
Nice experience and so much fun! The pools were great, just be careful if you go in summer, you probably won't have any space to move. Same thing goes for the food, you will have to wait a long time, specially in the summed but overall, it's worth it
ines gon?alves — Google review
We have now visited Zoomarine 4 times and loved it every time. The place is clean, staff polite & friendly. Everything is well sign-posted. Shows that they put on are always great, educating and fun. Animals are looking healthy and well looked after. The swimming pool is awesome, spacious and warm. Good selection of water slides and rides. Butterfly world is a lovely addition to the park. Will definitely be back in the future.

This place is amazing!! We are definitely going again! It is a theme park/water park/zoo! It has everything you need, there is cafes and restaurants and lockers so no need to bring anything just your swimming costume and ticket, highly recommend.

Amazing place, any animal lover will find something for themselves.
Over the whole day, there are several shows of dolphins, seals and sea lions, parrots, birds of prey and tropical birds, so you can plan the visit how you want.
The 🐬 and 🦭 shows were absolutely amazing, go there first in case you want to repeat it later 😀
There is also aquarium 🐠, 🦋 garden and 🦜🐢🦩🐊 habitats, all open the whole day.
The slides are cool too, but the queues are really really long.
I would recommend you to get there early as there is a lot to see 🤩.
Inez Ka — Google review
Was lots to do. There were alot of rides for the kids. It’s nice that there is the zoo and the water park as well as regular rides so you can do all the rides and animals and then relax in the water park. Although it was busy there wasn’t a wait time for anything. We went on a Saturday in the off season so wasn’t bad at all. Really reasonable to get in. Food was very reasonably priced as well.
Danielle Hayward — Google review
Fantastic place. We got the two day pass and it was great value for money. Delicious, reasonably priced food. Nice little rides for the kids. Lots of shows on. Dolphin show was excellent.
Only put a star down as we weren't told that we needed to get a wristband for the second day, so when we arrived the second day, we had trouble getting in. Reception sorted it for us eventually but treated us a bit like it was our fault.
Clare Pittaway — Google review
Loads to do here, the water park is amazing with loads of slides.
The rides here are great fun for the kids.
All the animal shows are amazing. We even did the swimming with dolphins this was amazing. Alot of money but the memory's are there for ever.

Great family day out. Next time we'll bring swimwear so we can enjoy all of the park properly. I would recommend a couple of days as there is so much to do and see. Great shows as well as rides.

Absolutely Fantastic place! The Dolphin show was amazing. The place was clean and tidy. Food was a bit pricey for the quality, but they are always, in these sort of places. My daughter also had the Dolphin interaction in a group, which she liked. It was fantastic to learn about these beautiful animals.

Great place for families with children, a lot of water toboggans, swimming pool, waves pool, you can stay on the grass or on the sand.
Good prices for food and drinks.

Great day out for the kids, food tasty and not too expensive. Long queues to be expected for the rides, would definitely need a 2 day ticket to get around all of the attractions. Shows are very good and not to be missed, especially the dolphin and pirate show.
Donna Kelly — Google review
Great little theme park/water park. Only downside was that because it had only just opened for the season there was still parts that were closed. But good thing about this was there was no wait for any of the rides.
Plenty to do for young children, my 2 year old loved the rides he was able to go on.
Vanja Marples — Google review
Worth a family trip , decent park overall. All the shows were good but the Dolphin show was amazing and definitely not to be missed.
Good restaurants offering wide varieties.
Water slides were well maintained and kids friendly .
Ron Parekh — Google review
Great place to visit whilst on your holidays. My hotel was 30minute coach journey which isn’t bad. The shows are great only managed to see the seal show due to the timing for other shows and activities. To do everything would be best over 2 days. Food and drink prices are reasonable. To use the pools and water the lockers are €5 and €5 deposit which you get back once the key has been handed back in. Good ride selection for children and adults to take part also.
Anthony Brotherton — Google review
Very good theme park, most would need two days to explore it all. The dolphin and seal shows are fantastic, it is lovely to see the love and care the trainer's have for them. Also the pirate show is a lot of fun. It's very clean and well looked after, well worth the entrance fee, also the band's that you can put money on are handy so you don't have to carry cash or your phone with you and it's refundable at the end of you don't spend it all. Although it doesn't work on the drinks machine's so you might need cash for them. It's recommended to get there before 10am so you can fit it all in if your only there for a day also there is a very good app to plain your day.

Fantastic place. A must visit for anyone going to Portugal.
Dolphin emotions was unbelievable. Usually I'd be concerned about enclosures but they are spacious and seem very well cared for!.
Kids loved the water park too plenty of options for all ages.

Had a really amazing day here with my husband & even though it rained a little it didn't dampen our spirits. The park is immaculate with lots to do for anyone of any age. We arrived for it opening & didn't leave till closing time & I love how much they do for conservation.
Helen Kerr — Google review
Fantastic place. All animal displays were dual language. Videos have subtitles.
all animals looked healthy and happy.
My wife and I had a deal for up to 3 day visits included in our holiday package. You definitely need 2 days to see all shows and exhibitions as well as make use of the pools and fun fair rides.
Nice cool under cover pic nic/food hall area as well as grass and "beach" areas if you wish to be in the sun.
John Smith — Google review
I was unsure about going here as I'm not a big fan of zoos. I was pleasantly surprised. The displays were good, although aimed at a slightly younger audience. The usual lectures about how we humans are bad for the environment etc.
Sam Armstrong — Google review
I absolutely love Zoomarine. I have been coming for over 20 years and every time I am there it brings so much joy to myself and anyone I am with. The care for the animals and the message of conservation and protection for wildlife is genuine and amazing. I will always come back and the growth in their almost 35 years is incredible. Well done Zoomarine, keep saving ocean lives.

Great place to visit if you're in the region, fun for all the family/here on your own or as a couple. There are amusing shows to attend including a fantastic dolphin show, but with lots of emphasis on conservation and the marine hospital that they have. Great water and funfair rides as well as a wave pool, massive swimming pool and lots of areas to lounge. Definitely worth going to if you're here for a few days.

Fab day out, so much to see and do. The €10 for 2nd day is a great deal. Highlight was the Butterfly 🦋 House, Dolphins and water slides 🐬🐬
Becks Reynolds — Google review
Great day out. We got a taxi here 20/10/23. £72 euro for two adults and a child but well worth it and you will need the majority of the full day to enjoy. The dolphin show is beautiful and there is a bird show too. We had to rent beds for 15 euro which was fine. Little amusement park and we had lunch here too. Great day out.
Castelo de Silves is a sprawling Moorish-style sandstone castle located in the charming town of Silves, Portugal. The town, situated on the banks of the River Arade, offers visitors a glimpse into the authentic and turbulent past of The Algarve. With its narrow cobbled streets and hilltop castle, Silves exudes a distinct Medieval ambiance. Exploring the old town feels like stepping back in time, with winding streets and glimpses of rich history at every turn.
Great place to wonder around for an hour or so. It is cheap to get in but it is rich in history. The walls a well preserved and can be fully explored. Within the walls there are some interesting excavations.
There is a lovely cafe in the middle of the grounds with a nice garden.
Marco Venzelaar — Google review
Not crowded when we visited. Doesn't seem to be necessary to buy tickets in advance. We walked up - be prepared for a steep-ish climb if you walk. Parking might be tricky, but free parking is down the hill near the river some minutes walk away. One of the nicer castles we've visited in Portugal. Beautiful grounds, inspiring views, interesting historical ruins and finds on exhibit. A great relaxing few hours - very enjoyable. Don't skip the castle when you come to Silves.
Nathan Bernstein — Google review
Fantastic castle with a pleasant interior square. It's a unique blend of Arabic and Christian elements with amazing 360 views of the city of Silves and the surrounding hills and valleys. I recommend a visit very much. The entrance is just 2.80€ and worth every cent. There's also a cafe inside with portuguese drinks and dishes.
Nils Drechsel — Google review
Nice but not great. People (staff) seemed like they would rather be someplace... Any place else.
The Castle is beautiful, not much history on display other than the walls.
There is an entrance fee (very reasonable) and an additional fee for the Museum. Maybe all the history is in the museum, I didn't go.
It was very cool that the was a cafe inside the castle ( though it takes away from the history) which is nice to relax inside.
After just coming from Ponferrada (Knights Templar Castle) this kinda disappointed.
For the price it's nice but not a multiple day trip. I'm less than an hour or so (unless your getting coffee ☕) you'll be done.
Personally I recommend going to Cafe Ingles just outside the castle entrance for coffee and pizza after you tour the grounds inside.
Jason Nast — Google review
We have been in Portugal for nearly a month and THIS is the best castle we have seen. Great history, quite walkable and admission gets you into the museum. Worth the extra couple of Euros. Great views and photo ops atop the castle walls! Easily do it all in a couple of hours!
David Whitehouse — Google review
Lovely castle and less than 3 euro per person. We spent an hour and a half here and walked the whole castle wall, and climbed each tower. It was getting busier by the time we left, so i would recommend getting there the first hour of opening. We also went in the Easter holidays, so we were pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was.
Very well kept castle would recommend. Also, try the iced tea orange blossom in the centre of the castle cafe . 👌

Excellent visitor place to go. Some people do not go past the shops on the lower level. But venture a little bit higher and explore the old town and castle, you will not be disappointed. Find the little cafe/restaurant too, beautiful.
Mike Steers — Google review
Great place to spend a few hours if you include a stop for a snack and beverage.
Lots of interesting history, great views and the gardens are lovely. Worth a visit, especially during the week when it is quieter. Some parking near the entry. Museum is only a 4 min walk away so buy a ticket for both at the castle and save.
Rod Heaysman — Google review
A slight incline through the pretty town of Silves will find you at the castle. Take some time here, there are refreshments and toilets the obligatory gift shop. This is a peaceful place, with a series of sculptures and water features with a well defined winding walkway. On the way back down stop in the shaded coffee shop.
Julie Gillam — Google review
Really enjoyed our visit to this castle. Entrance was only €2.80 per adult and there was no queue to get in when we arrived mid morning.
It doesn't take long to explore but it's fun to walk around the ramparts and interesting to see the excavations in progress. The cafe here is worth a visit too (opens at 10am). Be sure to check out their orange cake.
Just to add, I'm not sure what some of the previous reviewers expected to see here. It's the exterior of an old castle which has been thoughtfully landscaped inside. If you're expecting to find something else, then this may not be the right place for you.
Adam Sewell — Google review
Went here for the Sunset evening series and it was delightful. We did not reserve a table, but still had fun and enjoyed a snack and drink while listening to some fun music.
Parents, please remind kids not to climb on the castle walls and to stay in marked areas. There was only one security guard who was run wild trying to get children, and selfie taking adults, off the castle walls.
Paul Newman — Google review
Went in the evening for the local medieval festival. It was great and only €11 each for entry and 2 shows. Although the music and dance show was not to our taste so we left early. A pretty old village. Would love to go back during the day to see the castle itself properly

We stopped by whilst in the city and enjoyed our stay. The castle was restored in the 1930/1940s. There’s not a lot to it in terms of castle but it’s well preserved and the castle walls are in excellent condition but there’s not a lot to see inside.
The views of the surrounding landscape are spectacular!
There are a few placards inside in English explaining the layout but not a huge amount of detail. The plants and trees are beautiful and it’s an enjoyable place to visit.
The cost it less than €3 for an adult so it’s incredible value for money.
Jeremy Jacobs — Google review
Good place to see this historical castle. Great view of the city. Nice breeze. Staff is not so much friendly.

Interesting old castle, lovely view of the area. There is a cafe in the middle but unfortunately it was closed for 2 weeks renovations. Not expensive entrance, only € 2.80 per person.

Fantastic castle, with amazing views from the tops of the castle walls over the town of Silves. The castle is dog friendly and they must remain on leads at all times. Entry fee only 2.80€ per adult. The walk around the walls can be quite high in places and doesn't have a safety rail all the way around it, so keep a hold of your child at all times, or if your a little unsteady on your feet then maybe don't venture up onto the higher walkways. Some very interesting displays of old artifacts that were found within the grounds. A very interesting place to spend an hour or so.
Martin Fitzpatrick — Google review
I can understand people saying there is not much to see as it is pretty much just the walls remaining, however, since I haven’t yet visited a fully preserved or functional Castle, the views alone were worth it. You cannot pay with a card unless you have a Portuguese bank account. I thought my international (WISE) account would work and it did not. The gentleman at the counter was able to serve guests in both French & English and although I didn’t have the exact change (2 tickets were €5.20 and I only had a 20), he gave me back €15 in change. Very courteous.
I highly recommend the small cafe (Santa Sancho Bistro) to the right of the Castle entrance!!
Claude Hache — Google review
This red fortress dominates the town of Silves, and is as impressive to visit as it looks. Beyond the walls, there is not a huge amount left inside beyond the archaeological remains of the Almohad Palace. However, you can easily spend more than an hour doing the complete circuit of the walls at a leisurely pace, exploring the ruins, and enjoying the superb views. There are information boards in four languages at the key points, plus a café and toilet facilities in the middle of the complex. Definitely worth our trip from Faro (and the walk from the station), and it is very cheap and open throughout the day.
Phil Bradford — Google review
Great to walk around and cheap entry. Not much inside but you do get some great views! Be aware that there are some steep drops and not always a safety rail...made me very nervous with a young child!

The castle is actually very well preserved and it's a nice walk around the inner walls.
We spent around 1h30m enjoying the sizzling sun and cooled down afterwards in the underground cistern.
Maybe a lack of experiences and information about the castle - but around the mediaeval fest I assume it's very nice.
For 2-3 euros/ticket who can complain?

Barreta Island is a secluded 7km-long island situated off the coast, accessible by ferry or boat. It boasts a nude beach and offers a guided tour that takes visitors around the national park with stops at two sandbar-islands, Ilha Deserta and Ilha da Culatra. The tour costs 25 but there is also the cheaper option of just heading to Ilha Deserta for only 10. This uninhabited island features nothing but a restaurant and some beach huts.
Stunning views , lovely walk. Southern most point in Europe. For those so inclined, an unguarded naturalist beach.

Desert Island is 45 min away from Faro with Katamaran or 15-20min with speed boat from Faro city, it’s very nice ride to island and when you arrive there are some stairs you need to take from the boat. It took as around 3 h to walk around the whole island and you have lovely views to see Atlantic Ocean, you will find amazing, huge seashells, nice pebbles, sea stars and many more interesting things. The water was clean and clear with a lovely beach to swim in, just need to be careful with powerful waves. After nice walk and swim you can visit the only restaurant in the island and the food there is amazing and fresh. There is also stunning view next to the lighthouse.

Such a nice location. Visited for an afternoon and was lovely. Its slightly cooler than inland Faro which was nice. Not a cloud in the sky and the sea is crystal clear. Only costs €5 to get over on a 45 min boat ride. Would definitely recommend!

15 minutes from Faro. The beach is about 20 minutes away from where the boat docks.

The Barreta island, or Ihla Deserta, is a must see if you are in Faro. We visited in December, but the weather was still great for sunbathing and a swim. You can hike around the island, and stop any time for a swim or to enjoy the view. We got there using the ferry, which was 10€ with return for a 45' journey each way. We found that the side of the island where the ferry left us had better places to swim, as the water was calm, while it was pretty wavy & windy on the other side of the island. As the island is deserted, there is only one restaurant there, which can be pricey if you want to dine in, but we used their take away service and the sandwiches were reasonably priced and tasty.

Nice , peacefull island. On the ocean side there are plenty of huge shells. It's wotth to take the walking path around

Lovely isolated beach to visit if you are looking to relax somewhere with few people. You can take the ferry from Faro that costs 5 euros and it takes around 45 mins to arrive or there is a faster option with shuttle that takes 15 minutes and it costs 10 euros.
There is one restaurant at the island but it expensive so I would recommend to bring food if you don’t want to spend more money on food.
There is an option to rent an umbrella with two chairs that costs 20 euros for the whole day.
I think if you are planning to go 3-4 hours is enough to spend on the island!
Beautiful views, the sand is so soft but the water cold!
The beach Praia da Rocha Baixinha is a long golden sand beach located in the east of Falesia Beach, close to Vilamoura. The beach has many swimming spots and a lifeguard service. It's well known for its nickname Praia dos Tomates because of the tomato plants growing by one of the entrances.
One of the most beautiful wild beach ⛱️

Really beautiful clean beach. Miles and miles of beautiful sand. Plenty of cafes along the beach when you need a break. Sea quite shallow but be careful of the strong currents. A good place to try out surfing if you are a beginner as waves not too big. Keep walking along the beach and there are water sports and para sailing activities.

Incredible beach against the backdrop of some beautiful red cliffs. Amazing and clean sand, tonnes of space. No animals / dogs as the cliffs are quite dangerous. The water is lovely and you can rent pedalos/jetskis if that floats your boat

The Catholic cathedral dating back to the 13th century is a beautiful sight in Faro. The Igreja de Se courtyard and surrounding orange trees are a lovely addition to an otherwise modern old town. At the heart of the city, the Se cathedral is a must-see for visitors to Faro. On top of the clock tower there are wonderful views of Faro and the Ria Formosa Natural Park.
Quite nice to visit. You have access to the cathedral, the upper level with a museum where you can see the cathedral from above, then a garden with a sun clock and 2 small chapels (including one with bones but not very well preserved) and the rooftop. The view from the rooftop are very nice, and you can see the bells.

Faro’s cathedral is a beautiful, tranquil place, a strange but enticing mixture of styles after being looted and damaged in an earthquake over the centuries. It costs €5 for the whole complex. The church is full of interesting features, from tiled chapels to opulent altarpieces, and it is certainly worth the short climb to the upper choir to see the organ up close. There is also a small museum upstairs, plus an external altarpiece made of bones. Climbing the tower gives unsurpassed views of the town and surrounding area, although beware as the first set of steps are steep and badly worn. Usefully, there are also toilet facilities on site.

Lovely Cathederal dating back to 1498. The Cathederal was undergoing essential refurbishment works so we couldn't see the full spenders this Cathederal has to offer. Wonderful view of Faroe from the top of the tower and a big thumbs up to the guy in the ticket office, great sence of humour. 👍👍😃

From outside, there is nothing special about this cathedral. The interior though is a different story. There is so much art and history to make the place a must see if you are in the area. After that, going up the tower is the icing on the cake. Great views all around that stretch from the old town to the ocean.

This Cathedral building was started in 1251, two years after the Christian Reconquest of Faro from the Muslim Moors. It has undergone several renovations and additions since, the last major changes made after the earthquakes in 1722 and 1755. A rather sad historical fact is that in 1596 the city of Faro and the Cathedral were sacked and burned by the English troops of Robert Devereux, 2nd Earl of Essex, on their way back from the capture of Cádiz.
The altars and the various chapels are marvelously decorated and carved, some with tiled walls with biblical illustrations. The entrance ticket (€2.00 for the over 65s) also gives access to the tower, from where there is great views of the town, the waterfront and the airport. As we stood there, a white stork flew past on its way to its nest on the roof of one of the nearby buildings.
Across the inner courtyard there is a small bone chapel with skulls (mostly broken) built into the walls.

Probably one of the best water parks in Portugal. It’s not large but has enough to get the adrenaline pumping. The place is well laid out, don’t have to walk long distances to access any of the water rides. It’s clean, the water quality is well maintained and the lawns are well groomed for you to lie down and relax after between rides or just to sun bathe. The staff is extremely polite and helpful. One can rent a locker for a deposit of 10€ (5€ will be refunded after you return the key) for your belongings. Try and book online tickets for convenience and discounts. If you are bored of beaches and want an adrenaline rush give this place a try. 😊

This is about Aquashow not the hotel but google are a bit Dumb ! So we came in mid January! We live nearby but had never been before, the big outdoor park is closed from about November till March , however the inside pools and soft play area are great for families ! Some things are height restricted but our 3 years old could do everything in the soft play and absolutely loved it, perfect for a cold or rainy day ! Let’s talk cost, adults are free in the soft play 10 euros each for the kids , for one hour, beer and snacks available for adults ! I’m told but gets busy in the holidays but was quiet when we arrived . I’ll review the wet area separately but the soft play is 5 stars (out of season)

It was a great experience at the hotel simply because of the staff. Every individual was very helpful with everything specially Milla. Though the water park was closed when we were there, we used the indoor pool which is small but does the job. Outside pool is big enough but only for summers. Food was great with plenty of options. Breakfast had many choices. The only trouble is the location but still not bad. It is quite close to vilamoura beach and closest train 🚆 station is 5 minutes drive away. Overall I had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. Will definitely go back.

Perfect family hotel, quite in terms of partying, plenty things to do for children. Very friendly and helpful staff. The only downside I d say about the food, very little options specially breakfast. Rooms are clean and bright, location is great, I would recommend to get a car if you want to go to Quarteira city there is a lot of restaurants near by the Marina. I would stay again for sure in this hotel. Hotel is close enough to city Quarteira, it's a bit of walking distance and there is now walk path which is pitty. Otherwise you could walk to Quarteira for sure.

Fantastic hotel with truly outstanding service, rooms and food… highlight of our trip to Portugal was stopping in this hotel for 1 night with tickets to the aqua park included.
Dinner menu was a surprise, expected to be held to ransom by the prices, but actually very reasonable and the food was good. Breakfast was a buffet and was included in our stay, suffice to say I ate about three peoples worth of food and then sank to the bottom of the wave pool next door :)

It started great, which a great female colleague at reception, explaining everything. The room had unstable hot and cold wate, but it wasn’t deal breaking as the reception agreed to change my room.
The most frustrating part is that Igor from reception asked me for cash to rental equipment for hotel activities, rather than using my credit card associated with the stay. One comes to the hotel wallet free for vacations, and the reception employee ask the visitor to travel 5 minutes under the harsh sun to go to the ATM to get cash and only then enjoy the hotel.
That shouldn’t be que standard of service that this place ambitious. If it is, I’m not coming back again.

Don't go in August, most slides/rides involve a queue of 1hr - 1.5hrs.
Its a good water park, but you won't get to go on everything and will spend most of the day queueing. Some of the red/hard slides are a bit lame. Left feeling we hadn't got our money's worth. The staff make a decent effort to keep things moving, but there's just too many people.
There are massive queues to get in at 10am, everyone wants to get there promptly. Despite being open till 7pm, everything starts to shut down at 6pm, so the queues can empty. At no point in the day does it get quieter.
The changing rooms are pathetically small. There's plenty of grass to put towels down on to sit, but most of it is damp/wet even away from rides (to be fair it needs to be watered otherwise it would be a dry dust bowl), and you'll spend most of the day in a queue anyway.

Spent quite a bit here i guess it may of been the wrong time not sure if it's hotels of travel agent but both promoting outdoor water when it was closed. Gym was closed. Hotel don't even bother respond to your emails. As for the location it is very remote nothing is walking distance you will have to take bus or taxi. I recommend using Bolt it's cheaper and efficient. Good for kids but go in the right time check website and whomever your booking with.
Indoor water park is good cost a bit but a lot to do there.
To the hotel if you read this can you look in to my emails about lost property. Not worth much but has sentimental value.

The food is great even the burgers but eat outside they do better food like chicken on the grill 😁 didn't do the animal shows but seen them passing on the water coaster they look good also the water coaster... amazing goes on for ages! Deffo recommend for all ages take plenty of suncream it's not got a lot of shade also beach shoes the ground is super hot! You can buy a waterproof cover for your phone for €6 worth it! June 2023 - stayed at the Aquashow Hotel and visited the water park too for 4 days. We were a group of 15 family members who had flown in from various corners of the world to spend time together as a family.
The hotel is a standard 3 star - check in was smooth and there were some stars who went above and beyond - the restaurant and bar manager in particular: unfortunately the hotel didn’t provide some of the amenities we have come to expect as standard with most hotels around the world:
The room cleaning was poor and basic. Loo rolls were not replenished voluntarily - had to ask. No water fountains and lack of drinking water provision even in the restaurants - this is especially poor practice in this day and age! No body cream provided. No tea, coffee, hot water facilities in the rooms. Mini fridges didn’t work in some of the rooms. Shower screens were leaky and left the bathroom floor in puddles. Blocked sink - was resolved but would expect housekeeping staff to have flagged this to the maintenance team and not a guest having to request this!
And while the breakfast was very good and catered for most options - dinner was repetitive and not particularly appealing - choices were poor. Distinct lack of veg options and no labelling of foods. Same pizza option - margarita every single day! How difficult is it for a hotel to provide drinking water in the reception area for guests?
Location wise the hotel and water park are not ideal for much else. OK for a short stay of 2/3 days.

I have only ever used the indoor parqinho. Best place to take your kids, but you need to lower the prices of your indoor parqinho.
There are so many people who would come here every day just to have an hour without their overly energized child not driving them crazy. Create a membership for locals, even a punchcard with a free visit after 5. I personally know 100 dads that would agree. It may not be fairly priced for local Portuguese (€10/E per hour), but the experience the children have in this amazing indoor park cannot be matched by other parqinho.

The waterpark is a separate building from the hotel. It's beside the hotel but not in the hotel. About 3 minutes walk.

I thoroughly enjoy Aquashow, the park and the Hotel. There is something new everytime we visit, and my family has made it a yearly tradition to visit. The staff don’t bother, the cleaning room staff are pleasant and the activities at night in the hotel are entertaining for families, there is karaoke, games, bingo, etc.
The breakfast buffet is always delicious and enjoyable, just as the snacks are at the bar.
The outdoor pool is fantastic, as is the indoor one and the jacuzzi. It’s diverse and fun. For kids there is also a small playground near the pool. I cannot comment on the spa, but it looks pleasing.
The view from the hotel to the park from the room is always a bonus and beautiful at night.

Very good aqua park. You can stay all day so best to plan for the day. Most people arrive with umbrellas, towels, chairs and blankets. There are lots of green areas to set up your ⛱️ like at the beach. Not much shelter otherwise.
As well as the water slides, wave pools and roller coaster. They put on shows with birds of prey and parrots and reptiles. The birds and animals are also taken around the park for paid photos.
Food from restaurants was reasonably priced for a theme park type environment.
We had a great day. Only problem was the queues were quite long for the bigger rides/slides but we had a great time.

The Playa de la Barrosa is a 6km long beach that was the site of the Battle of Barrosa. It offers activities such as swimming and surfing. The beach has a gentle slope, making it great for children, but can be quite windy with lots of waves. Beautiful sunsets can be seen from here, and in October, the sea is warm and the beach relatively empty. Free parking is available along with small play areas scattered throughout.
This is a fantastic beach! From the north end (just south of Costa Sancti Petri) to the south end (at Novo Sancti Petri), it's about 6 kilometers long. The beach is wide and clean, and most of the sand is soft. The waves are usually fairly gentle making wading and swimming easy. There's a consistent breeze that keeps the beach cool. There are plenty of restaurants within a block of the beach; while on the beach, you're never more than a few hundred meters from one. Near Novo Sancti Petri, people on the beach are mostly foreign tourists or expats (I walked the whole beach on a weekday in October. Almost everyone I passed at the south end was speaking German). There seem to be more Spanish tourists and locals at the north end.
Trash is almost non-existent on this beach.

Tavira Island is a barrier island located off the coast of Tavira city. Accessible by boat or tourist train, this 11-kilometer-long sandbar boasts stunning Blue Flag beaches with crystal clear waters perfect for swimming. The island features several good beaches and is a popular destination for tourists looking to soak up the sun on comfortable sun loungers. It's also home to restaurants and even plastic bottle banks for fish disposal.
We liked the way you get there. By ferry from Tavira, 20min or so. The island is very green, has place for picnic, restaurants and small shops. The beach is huge, very busy in summer!

Ah, Ilha de Tavira, a hidden gem in the southern coast of Portugal, where pristine beaches, azure waters, and untouched nature come together to create a paradise for beach lovers and nature enthusiasts alike.
As I step off the boat onto this enchanting island, I'm immediately greeted by the sight of endless stretches of golden sand and the gentle lapping of the Atlantic Ocean. Ilha de Tavira is part of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, a protected area known for its unique ecosystem of salt marshes, lagoons, and dunes, making it a haven for wildlife and a sanctuary for those seeking a tranquil escape.
The island's main beach, Praia de Tavira, is a postcard-perfect scene, with its soft sands and crystal-clear waters that beckon visitors to take a refreshing dip. As I walk along the shoreline, I can't help but be mesmerized by the natural beauty that surrounds me. Seagulls soar above, and the gentle breeze carries the scent of salt and sea, creating a sensory symphony that soothes the soul.
One of the highlights of Ilha de Tavira is its ecologically diverse landscape. The sand dunes that fringe the beach are a fragile ecosystem, home to rare plant species and a sanctuary for nesting birds. The island's unique environment is carefully protected and preserved, allowing visitors to experience nature at its most pristine.
As I venture away from the main beach, I discover hidden coves and secluded spots, where I can find my own slice of paradise away from the crowds. The tranquility of these spots is unmatched, and I find myself drawn to the sense of solitude and peace that envelops me.
At the eastern end of the island, I come across the picturesque fishing village of Tavira, a place frozen in time, where traditional whitewashed houses and cobbled streets exude an old-world charm. It's a place where time seems to slow down, and the rhythms of life are in sync with the ebb and flow of the tides.
Ilha de Tavira is more than just a beach destination; it's a place to connect with nature and experience the simple joys of life. I spend my days basking in the sun, strolling along the shore, and relishing the freshest seafood at beachside restaurants. Evenings are spent watching the sun dip below the horizon, painting the sky in a glorious display of colors.
As I reluctantly bid farewell to Ilha de Tavira, I know that its beauty and serenity will remain etched in my heart. It's a place where time seems to stand still, where the beauty of nature and the simplicity of life come together in perfect harmony, creating a sanctuary of peace and wonder on Portugal's sun-kissed coast.

This is the main beach with the biggest “structure” in Tavira region and islands.
Several restaurants, camping and all beach facilities and services.
You can take the ferry at “Cais das 4 águas” which is much closer than taking it in Tavira center.
This is also the more crowded beach in the area, but once you arrive in Tavira island beach you can walk west to find less crowded spots.

Praia do Barril is a unique beach in Portugal that can be reached by crossing a bridge and taking a charming train ride or walking for 10 minutes. This laid-back sand beach boasts an oceanfront "cemetery" where old tuna-boat anchors are displayed, adding to its historical significance. Visitors can enjoy the sight of the Tuna fishery and walk through swamps to reach the beach, making it one-of-a-kind.
Nice beach, with a different way than other Portuguese beaches to reach to. You have a nice path to walk, pass the bridge on the river, and then you can use the cute train to get to beach or walk (takes 10 minutes).
You'll see the historical Tuna fishery, nice anchor graveyard, and can chill on the beach if it's not windy.

A long and spacious ocean beach. You can get there by small train (2€ one way). There are cafe, toilets, souvenir shop, wooden benches, "cemetery" of anchors.

Funny beach where you have to walk between swamps to reach it !
You can take a little train (1,80€/pp) or go simply by foot.
Only the beach of the anchors I imagined it bigger and better !
There are bars at the end so easy to have a drink or even eat smthng!

Beautiful beach, super clean sand and water. It's a little more pricey than other beaches in the area, beds, food drink etc. hence the 4 stars. But actually it has everything you need in one place, so it's great to spend a day or two here. The little train to get there is quirky, very enjoyable. Also it's nice to actually walk to the beach, and take in some of the natural surroundings, and spot the wildlife.

Really interesting place to visit. I'm not sure of the full story but I believe it was where the fishermen left their anchors in the sand after the tuna fishing industry started to die out in this area. Very beautiful beach.

Long beach 🏖️ with excellent sand and a beautiful track.
There isn't so much free 🅿️ parking there but there is a pay parking 🅿️ that is reasonable.
There is around 1.1km way to get to the beach ⛱️.
You can walk or you can take the train 🚂 that is cheap (2€). I'd rather go walking since the track is beautiful and you can easily watch the local animals that are there like the crabs.

Beautiful beach accessible by walking/biking or taking the little train. Free parking available at trail head. Has some small restaurants and public restrooms in former fisher's village

An impressive beach with nice history. To reach it you have to take a small and nice train (5 minutes trip) as the beach is in a natural park.
The only issue is to park near the train.
Reccomendation is to arrive early

Depends when you visit!
This beach is all things for all people! Off season it’s empty and, as mentioned elsewhere, it is perfect for walks by the more sedate with wonderful shells to look out for. In season it’s packed with families, couples, friends all making it a buzzing place. A choice of bars, clean toilets, a little boutique or two and a children’s playground for when they’re bored of the beach. Apparently it has had algae/ seaweed at some point - what beach doesn’t? And sometimes it apparently has waves! I’ve never seen either. When you’re knackered from all the fun you can take the little train back to the bridge before the car park. In season it can be a long walk to the car from there!

Really love this beach. Care is taken to protect wildlife. There a is wooden walkway along the beach with sun loungers if you want to rent. Enjoyed the cute railway. Only thing missing are a few showers or water taps.

Beautiful beach in the area with wide space, its old charming tuna anchors adds a bit of nostalgia and beauty, go by the small train or venture on a walk through Nature

Lovely beach with a fun train ride for the kids. Great complex of cafes and restaurants just before reaching the beach and the clean public toilets are handy. Parking is along the road can be busy so best to get there early in the day to avoid a long walk to get to the train station. Beach itself was great. Perfect for kids.

Beautiful Nature Beach. Plenty of space to choose either crowd or loneliness. If you go right you may find naturist people enjoying the sun and water

Very nice long beach, water was a little rough when we visited. Walk from parking is long, so it’s best to pay the 2 euros each way for the train ride. Also, once on the beach a short walk to the right brings you to a nude area.
The Catedral de Cádiz is a grand cathedral with ornate baroque architecture and neoclassical elements, including a yellow dome, towers, and main facade. Commissioned in 1716 by architect Vicente Acero, the project took over a century to complete with the addition of neoclassical features. Notable highlights inside include an intricate wood-carved choir and the tomb of renowned gaditano composer Manuel de Falla in the crypt below.
Impressive historic cathedral in Cadiz.
Thanks to a reasonable entry fee it was not crowded at all, so we could enjoy it in peace and quiet.
The crypt is great too with an echoing vault chamber that you should not miss out on.
Also great is the bell tower that you can walk 40m upwards with no stairs but a circular ramp.
I would recommend it this to all who visit Cadiz.
Andreas Clemenz — Google review
So, not a great deal to say about this, its a cathedral! But they have an audio guide which you can access on your phone which is good, a crypt and a tower you can climb. The tower gives great views over the city and the climb up was surprisingly easy because its mostly a slopping floor rather than steps. Although still not an easy climb in the heat and would avoid if you have any mobility issues. Reasonable price of entry too, worth a visit if you are in the area
Mark B — Google review
A must visit in Cadiz, absolutely stunning.
You must also make time to visit the cript and take the ramp up the tower for the best views over Cadiz.
Only €7 entrance fee, which is very reasonable indeed.

This architectural era was all about the money, but I don’t know how this was financed. How everything was made to fit and not a lot of mistakes were on display...
it is indeed the typical cathedral built 100 years ago. I must say the bathroom was my favourite part.

Cadiz Cathedral is definitely a place to visit. A rather controversial architectural amalgam (find out the details during the visit), it is nevertheless an interesting edifice. The church tower is a panoramic spot over the city very good for photos.
Alex Dihenes — Google review
It’s seven euros to get in. I think it’s a little steep, but it includes going to the bell tower as well. The cathedral itself is gorgeous make sure to go down to the crypt. There is a memorial for the famous composer Manuel de falla. My favorite part is, of course, going up to the bell tower. There are no steps but a gradual incline to go up. The view from the top is gorgeous. You can see the beach and much of the city. Beware that when the bell rings, it is loud. Overall it is a beautiful experience.

Best panoramic wiev of the citY!!! The Long narrow climb up the Levante Tower, will be worth it in the end. After the visit sit acroos the entranceand enjoy live music street performers and Best icecream ever. 7 EUR entrance Is for the tower, the church and the crypt in which are buried the composer Manuel de Falla and the poet and playwright José María Pemán, both born in Cádiz. If you haven’t seen many cathedrals than you may like this one. It wasn’t that beautiful to me. You have a free audio guide through QR code on your phone. But the guide was mostly about the painting and the sculptures and to detailed. It took too long. You can also visit the tower with the same entrance ticket. From the tower you will have a view over Cadiz.

Awe inspiring architecture inside and lots of information stands giving the historical context for each specific area of the cathedral. Really cheap entry as well.

Obviously the outside is amazing. But it’s not possible to enter without paying. A lot of famous churches do this but make an exception for religious services etc. Here you always pay. Really bizarre for a church.

It is a beautiful and peaceful place to wander around and take a break. I definitely recommend a visit. When in the crypt, if you stand in the centre of the dome and make the slightest noise, it will be echoed around for several seconds. Amazing accoustics.

Main cathedral of cadiz €7 entry gets you up the Tower inside the cathedral and a museum in a separate building, well worth the price. Its a ramp to the top of the tower with a few stairs at the top, the bells are active and ring every 15 miunites so be aware it's loud. Great 360 views from the top.

A wonderful and magnificent Cathedral of Cadiz. A huge building and contains much of marble works. It has many small altars dedicated to saints. It has a wonderful altar and a crypt beneath the altar containing many things including the incorruptible body of St Victoria brought here.from Rome in the 1800s. The marble works are amazing.

Great cathedral had beautiful architecture but I think because we had visited el puerto Santa Maria and visited iglesia mayor prioral in the morning (for free) and had such a wonderful experience the cathedral paled by comparison
Plus you pay 7 euros to go in
It however lacked for me

Really nice cathedral. The ticket includes the access to the tower. There is a ramp, which makes it easier to reach the top and the view is amazing. The bells are also there and well working. So, mind the clock because the noise from the bells is quite loud 😆

The view from the tower was lovely.
The Torre Tavira is a beautiful historical landmark located in Cadiz, with amazing views of the city. It is also home to a camera obscura and two exhibition halls which provide fascinating information about the tower and its history.
Torre Tavira, along with the Cathedral bell tower, offers the best views of Cadiz. You'll see a whole different perspective of the city from above.
The tower itself is one of over 140 watchtowers in Cadiz and is located close to the market. What makes it unique is it also the home of the first Camera Obscura in Spain - a combination of a telescope and mirrors/lenses that allow real time images to be projected onto a circular screen inside.
The first two levels of the tower have exhibitions and information on the history of the camera obscura and Cadiz in the 18th century. The third level houses the camera obscura itself, and above is a fantastic rooftop terrace with uninterrupted views of the entire city.
To visit the tower you'll need to make a reservation online. Due to the pandemic numbers are tightly controlled. I booked the night before and had no problems but in peak tourist season you might need to book further in advance. The tower is open between 10am - 6pm October - April and 10am - 8pm May - September. The price is 7 euros.
You'll typically spend about 30-40 minutes here. 15 minutes consists of viewing the camera obscura with a guide that will explain how it works and show you a 360 degree live view of Cadiz. They also point out many of the main attractions of Cadiz and explain the differences between the 4 main types of towers. Some of the points of interest are impossible to see from anywhere on the streets including the oldest tower. The rest of the time you are free to look at the exhibitions and view the city from the roof terrace. I was booked on the Spanish speaking tour but the guide spoke both Spanish and English.

A visit to Torre Tavira is a quintessential experience, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city and a fascinating glimpse into the past through its camera obscura. The tower itself is a remarkable piece of architecture, dating back to the 18th century and boasting a unique design that maximizes its viewing potential. While the views from the top are incredible, the real highlight of the experience lies in the camera obscura. This ingenious device projects a real-time image of the city onto a large concave screen, creating a magical and immersive viewing experience.
To fully appreciate the camera obscura, I highly recommend reserving a guided tour. The knowledgeable guide provide insightful commentary and historical context, making the experience even more enriching.
Whether you're a history buff, a photography enthusiast, or simply seeking a breathtaking view of Andalusia, a visit to Torre Tavira is an absolute must-do.

Awesome views over Cadiz and fascinating camera obscura with real time views. Great commentary from the guide and interesting information cards on the levels to the top

The tower is easily reached on foot. It is not very high and can be climbed in 10 mins. The stairs are narrow and two way traffic can be a bit cramped at times.
The ladies at the reception are very friendly and helpful and speak multiple languages.
The view from the top is quite extensive specially since Cadiz is quite a flat town.
They also have guided tours every 30 mins or so. They also have a special discount for ship crew members.
Farzad Bhagat — Google review
This tower is 100% the best view in cadiz, and one of the best viewpoints I've had throughout Europe. Its €5 just to go to the top, for the obscura you need to book in advance, but the viewpoint is what's important. Its an easy climb to the top, where you are given 360⁰ panoramic views of the entire city. Definitely recommend.
Rob Hall — Google review
a charming place to visit. there are regular guided tours and it is worth going on one as it's the only way to see the telescope in action and the "tour" of the city is interesting and fun with the history presented in a very light touch way. it is a bit of a walk up but it is worth it if you can manage it.
Sophie Service — Google review
Interesting view of the city. One of the visitors in my group simply disregarded the no photography sign and the guide's instructions, taking pictures with flash, was the only bad thing about the visit. It is recommended to book tickets in advance.

Highest tower of 133 towers in Cadiz. Climb to the top for a 360 degrees view of the whole of Cadiz. Information about Cadiz on several of the levels on the way up. There's a camera obscura as well but needs to be booked in advance as very limited capacity, so we didn't get to see that bit.

Brilliant uninterrupted panoramic views of cadiz from the top €5 entry for the view and €7 for the observe show. Great views of the cathedral from the top.

It’s a reasonable climb to the top of the tower and the views of Cadiz were great. The Camera Obscura was excellent and interesting. We pre-booked although not sure it was necessary. We spent about 30 mins at Torre Tavira.

Great view of the city. Probably the best view of the city as you are in the middle of it and you can also view the cathedral.
Entrance is only 5€ without the camera obscura. We did not do it as it needs to be booked in advance. Don’t think it’s a must though as you can use Google Maps to see what you are surrounded by.

(Translated by Google) I like the beaches of Monte Gordo because they are clean, endless and simply beautiful. You can walk for hours.
There is also a protected forest running parallel to the beach.
There are also good restaurants and cafes on the beach where you can eat or have a drink. The only thing that really bothers you is the city's ugly high-rise hotels.
Maybe that will change over time, because Monte Gordo is a really nice place to stay.

Tio Pepe is a bodega located in Jerez, Andalusia, Spain. Founded in 1835 by local entrepreneur Manual Gonzalez Angel, the winery produces dry white sherry known for its intense flavor. The winery offers guided tours and tastings that are highly informative and enjoyable.
Reserved the tour online, the 12.30 slot. The guide was lovely, good English. Tour was interesting and a mini tasting to end it. The bodega itself is quite photogenic. Would recommend it!

I would not even give this place 1 star, it’s not an option.
We planned a day for the sherry triangle (or part of it)
tasting, experience , knowledge,…. Excited for what we would learn .
However, we started with Gonzalez Byass aka Teo Pepe
We signed up for the English tour with the best sherry & tapa option
There were a lot of folks for the tour so they spit it , the 1st guide seemed really pushy so we waited for the second
They announced: ” we are waiting for a few to arrive that have reserved and then we will start.”
I thought , why would you tell us that ?!!! Instead of “ we will began shortly”
This should have been a red flag for what would be…
I just don’t even know how to express enough that our tour guide should “never” be a tour guide!!!
Or , even have a job where she deals with the public… ever!!!!
We had the second English tour on 03 January 2024
I am pretty sure she was able to be assertively negative to each and everyone of us.
I truly believe she hated us.
Which made me hate this brand!!!!
We finally get to the tasting and tapas
I am excited because I had studied and learned how well sherry paired with food
Not so
It was so bad
So disappointed
We had set out for our day…
…. our vacation, our time, our money, …
To have an amazing experience
and instead
We were beat up
We never went to another sherry bodega either
We were done
Chalk it up for the worst day of our vacation!!!!
I highly recommend , if you are still interested in visiting a sherry bodega after reading this Do Not Visit González Byass / Teo Pepe!!!!
No one should spend their vacation, their time, their money to be treated like we were treated
( on vacations we visit distilleries, wineries, breweries & other production tours known for the area. This Is by far the worst tour !)

We had a tour & VOSP tasting tickets. The tour was good, even though the train broke. The guide was very knowledgeable and. provided a lot of coverage.
But the tasting was plain awful. Most of the tasting was arranged by the guide and 1 waiter and for the group of ~15 tables it took very long. To make things worse the more expensive VOSP ticket holders were served last. We where wondering why did we pay extra just to wait 15 more minutes looking at other people at nearby tables already half way through the tasting.
Also we received only cheese snacks while other tables (including one other VOSP table) received Cheese and Jamon for snacks to accompany the tasting. It just looked like total chaos.
And, BTW, the VOSP Jeres wines very pretty plain. You expect some kind of rich nuanced taste from the old wine, but this ones did not look like the wines you want to age. They already lost nice strong taste of the young wine, but did not show this soft deep taste of the old one. This is subjective, but I would not recommend old wines from Tio Pepe.

The tour was a little slow, but the tasting itself was quite good. They give large pours for a tasting and the sherries were good (I had the VORS tasting).

Toured the bodega on 7th November 2022 with a group. Entry fee is about 18 euro but worth it if you are interested in learning more about sherry. We had a tour of the facilities with a good English speaking guide and finished off with a short tasting of a few of their sherries. Of the four offered for tasting there was only one (the extra dry) that didn't appeal to me. Several others thought the same. Quite an extensive set-up that handles weddings, receptions, etc. There is a gift shop and a hotel on site.

Rather pricey for what you get. A tour lasting about one hour where you get to see parts of the property (beautiful) and some info about the winery.
They show a ten minute video which is basically just a commercial. Definitely adapted to mass tourism. The tapas at the end was a big disappointment, not worth the money unfortunately.
All in all OK if you fancy sherry.
Johannes L — Google review
This was a disappointing visit. We were a group of 4 on the tour + 4 wine tasting with tapas visit in English. We could barely hear the guide. The had a small headset that barely amplified her voice and we lost at least half of the information. They took us to watch a video that we also couldn't hear well and there were no subtitles to make up for the echo in the room. Then she quickly described the wines while we waited outside of the tasting room. Once we were in the tasting room, there was nobody available to answer questions or further explain the wines and tapas.
The Sandeman bodega has a much better sherry visit + tour. If you like reds and whites, Luiz Perez also has a great visit and tasting as long as you take a taxi or have a DD to drive since it's just outside the city.

We really enjoyed this tour. We’ve been in on lots of bodega tours and this is one of the best. It helps that it’s a really beautiful place. Tio Pepe have made their bodega a really special place. The tour guide ‘Agatha’ was exceptionally good. The shop as you would expect is very good. Overall I would really recommend this tour
Patrick Bastow — Google review
The "tour" is a joke. Half of it on a "train", when one gets to see nothing but some walls. The other half is about moving from one cellar to another looking at barrels. No valuable information about the process, nothing worth hearing or seeing. Then, a short "movie" done, most likely, by some 12 year old for a school project.
The tasting was good, because it is sherry. But, €25 for 4 half glasses of sherry is a bit expensive. I do not recommend it. At all. A huge tourist trap.
soleDrummer music — Google review
A bit disappointing. This was likely because when we arrived to purchase same day tickets for the English tour, they said there was no English tour that day even though on their website it said they did. Multiple others ran into the same problem as us. We all just ended up buying tickets for the Spanish tour. They take you in a small red trolley-like bus through the yard then you get off at the entrance again and go on a walking tour of the indoor facilities. The tour guide during the trolley part was extremely hard to hear because the sound system in the carts are really faint. The walking bit is more interesting. We got the most expensive 4 sherries + tapas tasting ticket and I would recommend not getting the tapas unless you didn’t eat anything in the morning (because the sherries are kind of strong) as the tapas are just little croutons, cheese cubes, and a couple salami cubes. I don’t know why but for some reason I thought these tapas would be like restaurant tapas; they’re not. I didn’t like the sweet sherries (2 of the 4). Regardless of which tasting you pick, you will try at least one dry and one sweet sherry. I honestly think that’s about enough though, don’t think you need all four and most people just take two sips then discard the rest. The grounds are probably much prettier in the spring or summer but quite barren in the winter.

The Alcazar de Jerez is a fascinating medieval fortress with remains of Islamic influence, located in the heart of Jerez. It was originally built by the Moors to resist Christian invaders, and you can visit the baths, mosque and defensive walls and towers today.
Fantastic historical site in the middle of Jerez. We visited in January and the place was empty. We enjoyed this as much as our visit to Grenada, especially considering the few visitors in Jerez. The entrance fee is only €5 and you can spend a good hour on the grounds. The history of the place is extremely interesting so we recommend reading up ahead of time.

Well worth a visit, not as grand as some we've seen but lots of history. Some very old ruins on show and an old pharmacy. The camera obscure was shut when we visited. There were Arab baths with star holes in the ceiling and an olive pressing room. It would've been nice to have a postcard but there was no gift shop.

I only intended to spend 30 minutes here but ended up staying for almost 2 hours. What a gem of a place this is to visit. It may lack some of the scale or grandeur of its cousins in Sevilla and Granada but it has many positives that make it worth your while.
Firstly there's the price - at only 5 euros this is great value for money. You can download a tour guide via a QR code but if you're unable to do this don't worry - there are plenty of information boards throughout, in both Spanish and English. Due to covid they don't take cash.
The other great positive is that almost everything is accessible. Indoors you'll find temples, baths, museums displaying artefacts and tools (some of them enormous), grand rooms displaying billboards from yesteryear and even a pharmacy with hundreds of interesting items on display.
Outdoors you'll find landscaped gardens, courtyards, archaeological sites, water wheels and towers and fortress walls you can climb to access great views across the city and the nearby cathedral.
Well worth an hour of your time.

Loved visiting this site. Very well preserved, with many signs in English as well as Spanish. For those areas with no English signage, you can easily use a QR code on your phone to get a voice over of the history. The gardens were beautiful, and on a Tuesday afternoon mid summer it wasn't super busy. There were plenty of shady spots to take breaks, which was good as it was much larger than we anticipated to see every inch of it. The pharmacy was a special treat. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area and have the time.

I loved it here. Really enjoyed a few hours exploring the palace, the old pharmacy, the ruins, baths, towers and gardens. Very inexpensive with a free (brilliant) audio guide - make sure your phone is charged! Great vistas across the region and lots of really interesting history. Highly recommend!

This Alcázar is one of the best I have seen in Spain. Beautifully restored and so interesting. A must see in Jerez.

We went here just for a short break during our trip from Cadi to Arcos de la Frontera. The entrance fee is 5 euro per person, and you can park in the underground parking next door. If you have visited Alcazar in Seville or Cordoba, you might end up being somewhat disappointed. Enjoy the sun, and move on quickly. Enough Jerez places for a drink nearby.

Very well restored buildings. Interesting history of several eras. Lovely tranquil gardens and many opportunities for vistas across the city. Very low entrance fee

This is an amazing site. Well documented with Spanish and English signage, a good couple of hours to see the site for only 5€, with "happy hour" discounts available at the end of the day. The Moors and the Christians are well represented in the centuries of history represented. The views from the higher points are worth the trips up the somewhat precarious stairs. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Very good! An excellent family day and aibtearction with animals, when possible. The closest experience to an African Savana Safari experience in PT.

A wonderful way to spend a day! With or without kids, this is a happy fun place to be! Yes, there are a few kinks they should address, but nothing big that spoils the fun... Must go on the "boat" ride, you'll get soaking wet, but it's a lot of fun :)

Overall, very good experience. Make sure to save the ticket as you might need to present it for some activities, and you'll obviously need it if you leave the park and want to come in again the same day. Beware that the photos of you taken by them, which can include animals, are 12€ each at the time of writing. The restaurant is serviceable but not great. Great for kids.
Sergio Henrique — Google review
A really interesting experience and a good one over all, but the park is big so be ready to walk a lot, i just won't give it 5 stars because the food is too expensive for it over all bad quality, plus all the extra activities are expensive too, otherwise it's really good and worth a try, a lot better than a zoo.

Great family day out. Safari trip was best part, getting up close to animals. All presentations were in Portuguese so for non-Portuguese speaking guests this would be only issue. Ticket is good value for money but found prices inside to be a bit exaggerated e.g in cafe, restaurants
Lucy Goodman — Google review
The animals are very well treated and everything is organised. The worst part is the lack of dining areas and places to sit for people that need support, as elderly.
Inês Caramelo — Google review
Overall a decent park, not very well signposted off the motorway and not very organised, we were told we can buy the rafting tickets at the rafting location, only this was not the case so had to go back to the ticket office. Not wheelchair nor pram friendly so not good for families, we struggled to get around with ours. More variety of animals, really basic safari and overpriced for what you get. Food is expensive and not great, great selection of photo opportunities although do not expect a bundle price if you purchase more than 1 photo. Has great potential and room for improvement. Facilities are pretty basic and it seems run down. Some staff were nice although not all.

We took the VIP pack for the giraffe safari in private jeeps. We were very satisfied with the whole experience, the guide was nice and took us around the park. The giraffe feeding was amazing, worth every penny. The rest of the park was also a nice experience and the animals look happy and healthy. Thank you Badoca 🦒🦒
Hugo Miguel — Google review
Very nice zoo with lots of space for the animals. Possibility to walk among birds in a huge cage, to see multiple displays of animals with their caretakers (clear recommendation to watch the bird show) and to interact with lemurs (for this one a booking should be done by paying a small extra fee). The reduction of one star has to do with the safari tour where we were expecting a bit more enthusiasm by the guide and the food available at the zoo’s restaurant which was canteen style food. Everyone was very nice and there is the chance to take multiple pictures with animals which you can buy at the end of your visit. They don’t send you the digital photo though.
Joao Matos Leite — Google review
Great experience but the offer could be better. Some expositions were unavailable. For example, we were not able to see the crocodiles.
Jorge Palma — Google review
A very different experience from the one I remember quite a few years ago.
Badoca Park now is quite interactive with regular presentation shows. The absolutely make it for a better day as one of the carers comes forward to explain more about the animal and perform a number of interactions with them.
Food is good and very fair priced.
I wish the times for the carers shows to be available on the website so you can play your day inside the park.
On the downside the experiences are very expensive, do not allow you to take pictures during these and then charge you 10€ for a picture at the end.
This makes something like the lemur experience be 25€ in reality instead of 15€pp. This quickly adds up.
Overall a good day but a shame Badoca ruins it by wanting to charge you for a breath.
Filipe “Res” — Google review
Amazing park with beautiful animals who are certainly being very well treated, because it shows, since they have a lot of space and are doing everything to help endangered species. Great safari, it’s a really fun and unique experience. The best part was hanging out with the lemurs. It has a huge parking space.
13th-century Franciscan hermitage with a figure of the Virgin at which Christopher Columbus prayed.
An interesting place to visit.
This Franciscan monastery is best known for the visit of Christopher Columbus in 1490 and his consultation with the Franciscan monks about the circumnavigation he was planning. Here he stands for two years. Currently, many relics from the discovery of America are exhibited here.
The monastery consists of an authentic-looking church and a statue of Our Lady of Miracles, in front of which Columbus prayed for hours before setting off with his crew for the New World, and a hermitage with a garden, which has been converted into a Columbus museum. There is an exhibit hall where the flags of each of the countries in the Americas are on display and a small sealed vessel containing soil from the New World. Surrounding the courtyard are frescoes in a pre-cubist style done by the Spanish artist Daniel Vazquez Díaz in 1930. The subject of these paintings is Columbus and his expedition.
Set aside at least half a day, as it is an interesting place, and around it there is a garden, a park, and nearby is the museum with Columbus's three caravels. Near to the monastery is José Celestino Mutis Botanical Park

A thrilling experience to be in a very low-crowd, low tourist place where Columbus actually prayed and networked.
- Well preserved, quiet, inspiring.
- Very well done Museum with excellent English audio guide included and exquisitely friendly staff. Almost felt like I was in my hometown they were so nice.
- Great art from contemporary times also gives and updated look into this place that changed the world forever. 500+ year old chapel and courtyards a must see.
- the only negative was a film crew that was a bit rude in some of the rooms. Maybe that should be done on the day it’s closed.

Muelle de las Carabelas is a museum that commemorates Columbus' voyage and the art of shipbuilding. It features an exhibit hall and three reconstructed ships, all meticulously maintained. The museum building is beautifully designed and every detail is carefully crafted. Visitors can learn a lot about Columbus, making it perfect for families with children or anyone interested in history. Wheelchair access is available, but access to the boats may not be possible.
This is definitely a must see if you visit Huelva. It's an amazing historical place, the place where Christopher Columbus prepared and start his adventure on discovering new land, known today as America. Inside there is a video room of presentation about this and some artifacts from that time. The attraction point would be the 3 replicas of the boats that Columbus used in his exploration Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria. Lovely set up of this place. Woths your time!
Raul Gavris — Google review
Unfortunately we couldn't visit it. It was closed because a hurricane had passed the day before and there had been damage to one of the caravels. We admired each other through the museum fence.

Absolutely in love with this museum!!! If you are in the area is a MUST! The boats are very well maintained and the area is beautiful and peaceful. Once you are inside the museum (building) you can easily see that every single detail has been designed and built with care and detailed oriented. You will definitely learn a lot even if you think you already know a lot about Columbus.
Perfect for families with kids, young and mentally young people.
You can access the museum with wheelchair although I don’t think you can get inside the boats. The access is ok for small strollers.

This place is worth a visit, our 3 year old loved to explore the boats and we learned a couple of more facts about Columbus his travels. We’ve seen it all in about an hour, but as it was only 3 euro entry for the 4 of us it was definitely value for money.
Unfortunately a lot of the info was in Spanish. It did show a QR code for additional languages, but all the QR codes were broken and directed to their main website, also in Spanish.
As a side note; Be aware not to get ripped off for parking at the parking lot.

The Castle of Mértola is a medieval fortress that stands proudly atop a hill, offering commanding views of the surrounding landscape. While not the most aesthetically pleasing castle, it is the focal point of Mértola and well worth the trek to reach it. From the river, the town presents a picturesque scene with its stone walls and whitewashed houses culminating in this sturdy stone castle. Visitors can explore this historic site free of charge and soak in its ancient ambiance.
We stumped up on this little beautiful peaceful well maintained town on the way from Spain to Lisbon. The castle is so well maintained with all renovated levels that have wooden and marble stairs and museum floors with a local staff who was extremely nice and knowledgeable to tell us about the town. Everyone who worked here was so nice, proud and educated of their own town. The entry fee is FREE. I'm super impressed with how they very well managed to maintain their history, the whole neighborhood and castle. So much respect for these people and this town. The whole atmosphere is so peaceful and relaxing. We also stopped by a restaurant down the tiny street and the food was so delicious and healthy. Highly recommended!

We visited this castle and were able to park almost next to the city walls. The castle entrance was a few minutes walk away, following the line of the walls through parkland.
Entry to the castle is free and you can walk part of the castle walls. It is a small castle and there are no buildings inside but the tower is both visible for miles and allows you to see for miles! It is well restored and you can climbed the 180 odd steps to the roof, passing through three rooms with vaulted ceilings to get there.

Beja Castle
Time spent: 40 min
Price: 2 EUR - Tower
Car Parking: behind the Castle/Se
Bike parking: not available
Castelo de Beja is a medieval castle in Beja. The first types of walls were built [4th century] on the Beja's hill during the Roman Empire [Pax Julia]. Part of the Roman arch ("Évora Gate") dated from this general construction in the Roman provinces. The city was very important and a lot of things inside the castle were changed or improved by Visigoths, Moors, and Portuguese rulers.
The region was reconquered in 1159 by the forces of King Afonso Henriques. In 1253, King D. Afonso III began work on reconstructing the fortress. King D. Dinis ordered the construction of the keep tower in 1310. At the beginning of the 16th century, King D. Manuel I began a project to improve the fortification, that possibly included the construction of the vaulted ceiling in the keep tower. In 1790, part of the fortifications were demolished to construct the new church.
The castle was secondly [after the period of Reconquista] used during the 19 century. against the army of Napoleon.
You can enter the castle for free (and the local museum also), but the price to visit the tower is 2 EUR [or 1 EUR for students].
[!]Take into consideration that the schedules of the castle and the tower are different. The castle: 9:30-12:30/14-18. The tower: 9:30-12:00/14:00-18:00. The last entrance into the tower is 30 min before it is closed.

The Rio Tinto Mining Park is a major attraction in Minas de Rio Tinto, offering a mix of history, adventure, and natural beauty. Visitors can take a journey through time on a 19th-century train that showcases the town's mining heritage amidst stunning landscapes. The park also features an extraordinary geological display with saturated colors and massive scale, showcasing millions of years of sedimentary deposits.
It is clear a lot of effort and energy went into the museum and a visit is a must.
The replica mine was very well done and enjoyable.
Equally the train ride did not disappoint and the views were stunning but also interesting to see what impact mining has had on the environment.
It is not very often you get the opportunity to go somewhere like this and if you are in the area it is a must

Website offers very little information other than ticket availability and price. Visit instructions and protocol not very clear even once on site. However, the train ride, the mine visit and the museum are very interesting and the staff are friendly and helpful

An extraordinary geological display. I was completely fascinated after only just having visited the museum and gone to the view point overlooking one of the open mines.
Never seen anything like this in life. Its saturated colour and its massive scale. I was in awe. Millions of years geological sedimentary deposits. But what are we human trying to do with them within the small window of these few hundreds of years?
It's a shame that I almost felt the Spanish foundation that managing the touristic side of it was unwilling to cater it for any non-Spanish speakers. Nearly all information in the museum was given in Spanish. Their website was all in Spanish. There's an audio guide (to access via your phone) which has contents in English, but they don't tell you its existence when you buy the tickets. I had to send my husband to ask if there's any when I found everything was in Spanish. Only €2. I'm sure most visitors would be more than willing to pay for it.
We arrived at midday. No more tickets for the earlier train and only another was to be scheduled for after 4pm. We have a little child and staying around for that many hours was not feasible. And a few other activities were also for after 4-5pm. All in all, if you want to make the best out of your day, you do need to plan ahead and buy tickets online in advance.

Comments like: you can't take photos, touch anything, take nothing with you, it happens much too quickly, what nonsense, it is explained in the simplest terms why this is so and is understandable for every clear-thinking person. The negative comments can only have come from egomaniacal minds!!

Seguridad nula (inexplicable no faciliten casco).

Monsaraz Castle is a fortified medieval village with panoramic views of the surrounding valley. It is considered a open sky museum, with three bastions and surrounded by a stone wall of schist and granite.
We came across this castle by chance. What a fantastic find. Recommend for a walk around the town which won't take long (1 hour). Views are unbelievable in every direction. The whole village is beautiful and picturesque.

Perry cool place. The entire village within the walls is quite charming. Small shops and excellent little restaurants. You can spend a few hours walking around the shops, taking in the views, then settle in for some food and libations.

Very high up on the mountain is this nice castle that we went to. A lot of it is sightseeing, but you really get to see all of the old buildings and etc. It seems like they were fixing things up or remodeling things, which is a good thing. Otherwise, there's not much else to do but as always very cool!

I loved the view. This castle has 4 towers and each of them has a different view. The town and the sea were my favorite. I was a bit scare of the stairs tho so I hope they change them. We were the only visitors there so we managed to take many photos. Actually the whole town was amazing. There are human sized figures everywhere that symbolize the history of this town. It's 2:30 hours away from Lisbon but it's free to visit. You will find restaurants and cafe there but make sure to check their working hours online first.

Monsaraz is a tranquil hill top village with astounding views across the extensive plains and reservoir - visit and you'll want to stay all day and drink in its calm and peaceful culture, in September access was no issue with the village glowing in the afternoon sun and idyllic architecture.

A very pleasant morning visit to this beautiful town housed within the Monsaraz Castle. Picturesque photos all over. Not spectacular but such a comfortable vibe to walk around for a good half an hour

You are allowed to walk throughout the castle and walls. Stunning views of the lakes. Lot of parking.

Free entry to the castle grounds and walking about the structure is mostly unrestricted, which lets you get a better feel of the castle building and what it would've been like in the past. The actual inside building in the main tower was blocked off although it didn't take away much from the entire experience. Amazing views from all sides of the castle. Small description board at the entrance is all you get in the way of information, although the view is likely what people are most interested in.

While we went at a quiet time of year, it was really calming to just wander the streets, alleyways, and shops. There were so many beautiful overlooks and we really enjoyed our time!

An attractive small whitewashed town with an information centre just inside the gates. Plenty of small carparks up at the town level so you don't have to climb the hill in the heat. A free castle at the end of the village where the centre was converted into a bull ring many years ago. You need to take care on some of the walls but not too bad as there are also metal steps.

Simple castle with free access with a stunning view on Monsaraz and the surrounding area, dominant the lake. Be careful because some passages and stairs are not secured and very safe.

After seeing Marvao castle just a few days earlier I was a little disappointed. The views from the castle are fantastic, but the castle itself has been transformed into a bull fighting ring and it is not very big, there is not much to see. I enjoyed walking around the town more than visiting the castle.

Amazing views from atop the castle. They still have events in the arena. Don’t miss it if you are in this area. It’s free, no tickets needed.
