The Japanese Garden is a serene and peaceful park that showcases a koi pond and offers various events, such as tea tastings and floral workshops. It's an ideal destination to visit during the early weeks of spring when everything is in full bloom. Visitors can spend a leisurely afternoon strolling around the garden, taking in its tranquil atmosphere. Additionally, dogs are welcome at the park, especially Japanese breeds.
It was a ZEN garden!
Finding parking area was not hard BUT the parking space for each car was too tiny i think but luckily we could park in the end. We went in May so some of the trees like Magnolia and Cherry Blossoms had bloomed, too bad.. BUT, there was Japanese Maple tree which was so pretty when it popped within other green trees!! I loved seeing birds having baby birds in the bird's house on the tree!
It was a small garden BUT enjoyable. Too bad that when we went there the Japanese tea house was empty (as I saw the review photo from a year ago you could see the Japanese accessories).
I spotted wisteria flowers (we went in May) too in the sitting area, toilets were spacious & clean. The food vans were also selling delicious mochi, fish waffle and onigiri.
Walking through the rocks path next to the waterfall was fun😀 we went to the waterfall twice as it was with a queue of people before and ok we must go on.

Mooie tuin.

Nice garden. Ideal to visit this period when the blossoms are beautiful on the trees. It's busy. Often queuing and waiting for the photographers to finish photographing the children in their communion outfit. The garden itself is quite small.
Daan Nerinckx — Google review
Great value for the price. Only not a lot of parking space. And if you are only there to sight see then you might be done in 90 minutes. If you love photography then it will be more like 3 hours
maikel de bakker — Google review
This is an absolutely lovely garden, but quite small. So if the day is warm and nice, get ready for waiting in a queue for anything, from entry to going to the toilet or getting a drink. But it's worth it, it is really nice and lovely to see. If you go at the beginning of April, you'll also catch the cherry trees in flower, they are great. So totally recommended, just be patient.

Beautiful!
They have food trucks/stands with authentic japanese food, most start from 5 euro. The miso soup was 10/10

Best place to rejuvenate. Even though I went off season, it was still beautiful to enjoy. The fishes look royal and watching the water could make you feel calm. Its a must visit place!
Mrunmayee Kode — Google review
Beautiful but a small garden. A visit can be completed in 1-1.5 hr. There are lots of places in the garden to sit, relax and take in the view. One Star less because the water didn't look clean in many areas.

The Japanese garden was really nice and a recommending thing to do as a date.
Allot of places to take cute couple pictures, and big fishes that u can manually feed if you are not scared, at least.
Something to note is check the weather, because it is 99 percent outside and during the rain it is less fun.
Overall recommended.
Jason Liu — Google review
What a disappointment .... I went there yesterday, super excited to take my mother there. We have more Japanese cherry trees in the neighbourhood and those there were so pale. The rest is nice and well maintained but packed with so many people you can't really enjoy it. Attached a picture of spectacular cherry blossom in Brussels.
Donna Callista — Google review
Amazing place to visit during the first weeks of spring, when everything is blossom. You can spend a relaxing afternoon just walking around and enjoying the calm that garden breaths. Plus, you can take your dog with you, and if it’s a Japonese breed even better combination.

Volgend jaar iets vroeger langskomen.

The garden looked somewhat faded when I visited in June. Its peak is now two months in the past. It cannot be called an 'oasis of peace', as work is currently underway on the nearby motorway. The constant noise of excavators and jackhammers disturbs the peace. Furthermore, a typical and beautiful landscape, with a photogenic ceremony house in the middle. Come a little earlier next year.
David D. — Google review
A very very small garden which can be visited entirely in just twenty minutes. We waited one hour in queue to buy our tickets which wa disappointing! There are not much to see or visit, but the fishes are interestingly nice. There is a cottage in Japanese style. The walkways are really tiny and not very secure to cross the water. There are washrooms and some cabins which serve fries and tea or coffee. If you have nOthing else to do or nowhere else to visit, then it can be as your last solution.
Hanna Afshar — Google review
Beautiful and well maintained garden. Nice to spend a couple of hours with family or solitude. Expected it to be a little bigger than what it is but that was not to be.
subhadip das — Google review
A beautiful and amazing Japanese themed park. It's absolutely stunning in spring when the blossoms are blooming and the park is filled with colour. The little paths are nice and lead toi around the whole park. There's some food trucks with Japanese snacks and you can sit down and have a drink as well. If you go by car parking van be an issue especially during the busy spring season so keep in mind you could be looking for a parking spot for a little while.
Martijn Nijs — Google review
Very well done Japanese garden!
Relaxing but at the same time entertaining with on water paths, gongs and the beautiful pagoda.
If you look inside the ponds you will be greeted by fish the size of 2y/o babies.
Federica Bonfanti — Google review
It was oké. Cherry bloesoms are not flowering yet. Sorroundings are oke. No tent available at the picnick area where they sale food.it was rainy day. Couldn't sit if you want to buy food.
Louella — Google review
Very small garden. And very few cherry trees. There a lot more trees on the streets of Brussels then in this garden. And the parking is also very small.

Absolutely feeling in Japan.. delicious food stalls n truck on (Chrysanthemum Festival).. definitely gonna come for Cherry Blossom next year also.
The Liège-Guillemins railway station is a contemporary transportation hub and modern concourse, created by the renowned architect Santiago Calatrava. The station features an impressive vaulted roof made of steel and glass, showcasing a blend of functionality and aesthetic appeal. It has become a prominent attraction in Liege, serving as the starting point for many travelers exploring the city.
Well maintained train station with a colourful, huge roof that you would not stop looking at. The staff at the station office is very very friendly and helpful. We missed our train due to the delay of another train. The lady booked us another train route for the next day along with our to and from ticket to Leuven. Very much satisfied with the services provided.
Animesh Kumar — Google review
The station platform elevators and escalators were both out of order. Many strollers and passengers carrying large luggage had to carry them by themselves, which was very inconvenient. And without any obvious notices or alternative measures, there is still a lot of room for improvement.
蝦仁玩樂日常 — Google review
Beautiful building unfortunately it's form over function. There is no cover for wind and very little seated waiting space.
Also the people around the station are quite dodgy
Vincent — Google review
Beautiful station, but kind of overrated. A pretty long queue at the ticket machines (the ones that worked).
A very pleasant interior design. A not as amazing exterior, probably due to the white paint becoming dirty over time.
Worth a visit if you're nearby, but not worth the travel solely to see it.
Overall, recommended.

Large station with wonderful design and ambience. Look for the lifts they’ll save you time and effort. Or ignore them and work that butt girl by using the stairs Especially good for catching trains - which are quite regular. we grabbed one to Brussels only 15 euro. Plenty of shops and loos

A modern station with a spectacular view.
It acts as a train hub for both international and domestic trains. Most international trains stops at platform 1 though this may vary in busy hours.

I love the architecture of this station. The design just pops and it is very bright. Easy access to all platforms. The bus station is right out in front of the station. Few restaurants and food stands in the station. More outside of the station across the street. I really enjoyed my visit to this station. It is beautiful.

Fabulous design, have been through here a few times on my way to Bruxelles, Kortrijk and south to the Ardennes.
Nice shops on the bottom floor, 3 coffee shops, but missing a General store for travellers.
Has a mezzanine level that is completely derelict, pity, would have been a great addition to the railway station and added something to it's usefulness.

Very beautiful train station the architectural structure and design is worth admiring. There are hotels, restaurants as well as bus stop in front of the train station, which makes it easy for travellers coming in as tourist or on business purpose.

Never seen a train station like it. Beautiful architecture, topped off by a large exhibit of a rubix cube. The information centre is located under the tracks and there, you can get all the information you need from the friendly staff.

I find this station very artistic and looks really great when lighted well at night. The patterns of the roofing is really great for photography. New changes applied this year 2022 with those colorful roof. Interesting changes especially when the sun is shining brightly.

AVOID long waits at night.
It's full of homeless people. Everything is closed, dark, kinda scary for a MODERN train station.
It is completely open; so it's cold everywhere.
If you arrive late or need to have a long wait, there's a savior place close called TGV taverne (open 24hours)

The Beekse Bergen zoo offers visitors the unique experience of observing various wild animals such as elephants, lions and apes in their natural habitat. The park provides guided tours on buses, boats and walking paths, allowing for a diverse way of exploring the grounds. The zoo sets itself apart from others by offering the opportunity to drive through areas where many of the animals roam freely which is an exceptional experience.
Great place to spend time with kids. It was a unique experience for us to be able live right next to a few lions 🦁 . You hear them roaring the whole night but it was exciting and fun. The safari park has lot of animals to visit by foot or by car or by boat. We tried all and it was worth it. There is a big fun park for kids with rides as well. Days well spent.
Kamlesh kumar — Google review
A beautiful zoo where animals roam freely. I got together with my friends and their kids for a Sunday activity. It was a pleasant day. You can do a safari by bus and ship. There is also an option that you can do with your vehicle if you prefer, but it is a bit limited compared to others. What I don't like about this place is that the food options were a little less; frankly, we couldn't find anything to eat. But if you want to do a safari without going to Africa, it is a good option. The parking fee is 9.50 Euros, and you can get it from the internet or the kiosks at the entrance.
There is no control when entering, but they check one by one when leaving. I would recommend not taking it in advance to don't stay at the exit.
Emrah Onder — Google review
This zoo for me was one of the best zoos I have seen so far. First of all the you could get a chance to see all the animals which you would see on the map. It was really exciting for kids to see them all. There are different options to explore it , by walk, by your vehicle, by the boat.
Special attractions were, lion, tiger of different types. There are sufficient sitting areas to sit and eat and toilets.
All area is wheel chair friendly and you also get a kid cart in case if you forget to bring.
Shivam Chandna — Google review
Great experience, will come back here for sure. The allotment for the animals is huge and all of them seem relaxed and happy, I did not see signs of stress. Really impressive. Oh and, the toddler elephants are really adorable!
Bob Lefevere — Google review
It is most amazing and secret safari in Netherlands. I would definitely recommend to book safari resort where you spend your whole day with animal. Everything arranged so well.
Who don’t want to have breakfast next to giraffe or lion or many more. Must experience thingy. Definitely recommended!

Beekse Bergen offers an unforgettable safari experience that is sure to impress even the most seasoned travelers. The vast plains and rolling hills of the park provide an ideal backdrop for a thrilling adventure that is both educational and entertaining.
One of the best ways to experience Beekse Bergen is on foot or car. These safaris allow visitors to get up close and personal with a variety of animals, including, lions, rhinos, and giraffes. The guides are happy to answer questions and provide insight into the behavior and habits of the animals, making for an educational and informative experience.
For those who prefer a more adventurous safari experience, Beekse Bergen offers the option to drive your own car through the park. This allows visitors to explore the park at their own pace and get even closer to the animals. The park provides a app that details the different routes through the park and provides information on the various animals that can be seen along the way.
Overall, Beekse Bergen offers a safari experience that is both impressive and unforgettable. Whether you choose to explore the park on foot or by car, you are sure to be greeted by breathtaking scenery and a wide variety of fascinating animals. The park is well-maintained and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, making for a truly enjoyable experience. I would highly recommend a visit to Beekse Bergen to anyone looking for a unique and exciting safari adventure.
My family and I will certainly come back again.

Interesting concepts of a safari park, mixed with a zoo. It is a big spacious park, where the animals have lots of space, with a focus on African animals. The car safari is a nice ride passing the animal, and sometimes engaging with them. The zoo part is a good walk, but the variety of animals is a bit limited. The extremely large elephant enclosure is under serious reconstruction, and looks promising. A nice tip: if you are a member of the ANWB, go to their website for discounted tickets, saves 20-25%.

This resort is 2 thumps up. The scenery is wonderful.
We stayed at the lion's area. So basically our backyard was all lion's. It was an amazing experience. My kids enjoyed it so much.
Every other day, they feed the lion's at 9:45am in the morning. If I come back, I'm staying again with the lion's. The lion's roar is so powerful and beautiful.

The kids enjoyed the car safari and seeing the animals. Fun to see the giraffe playing and the lions relaxing in the sun 🌞🔆

Options for bus safari and walking trail also.

Exceptional zoo. Amazing to drive your car with the animals walking around or even towards you.
Also the walk routes are great. Doable with a wheelchair or pram.
Information signs in different languages and enough clean toilets.
Great variety of animals to see. It's a zoo but different. We went wit kids between the age of 4 and 19 and all had a great time!
Mari?lle Leugs — Google review
A very nice experience in a sunny day. A perfect tour with the kids, a lot of animals to see. We liked the possibility to visit the park in different ways, by walking, by car and also by bus and a boat. Very well organized also with restaurants. Recommended.
Vito Cuscianna — Google review
A little bit expensive (35 euros pp), but it's nice to see rare animals. Unfortunately you can't feed them. You can watch the zoo by walking, driving slowly your own car or by boat (too far to see animals clearly) .
Marina Makarenko (Bella Thompson) — Google review
Outstanding. This safari park covers a large area and harbors many animals. The animals have large amounts of space - you can’t possibly compare that to any other regular zoo out there. There’s also quite a few young animals, which you might not always see at first, but if you do it is always a beautiful sight, since it indicates how at home they feel here.
There are a lot of great animals to see here. One of my personal favorites were the ring-tailed lemurs. They roam completely free in their territory with no fences whatsoever. Fascinatingly, they are not shy or scared at all - in fact, they will walk onto the path all by themselves and happily let you come closer to observe them. A very unique experience.
The boat-safari gets you from one end of the park to the other within about 30 minutes, while also providing a small tour at the same time. You may see a few animals near the water, however, most of them will likely be pretty far away and you might not see much. There’s no guarantee.
The park offers multiple opportunities to get food, drinks, and all sorts of snacks. This includes restaurants and also small food stands. Most of it is quite expensive, so you might want to bring some things yourself too.
Overall, this might be the greatest animal park I have ever been to, and I can only recommend it. It is a wonderful, unforgettable experience and I had a really good time. The visit is definitely worth it.
Selina — Google review
Great spacious zoo/safari park which is ideal for a long walk. Plus side is that when you are tired of walking you can take the safari bus or boat back close to the entrance. Parking is not cheap, but also not overly expensive. Food is decent and on par with gas station prices. Park has a good variety of animals and is pretty well accessable.
Mark G — Google review
Wonderful place, and a magical experience for the kids. We spent four days here and could have stayed longer. We opted to stay in a house on the edge of one of the animal enclosures (lodge 411) and woke up each morning to a rhino outside our house! Having not done an African safari I do however think this is the next best thing, especially at half the price.
There is so much to see and do, mixed together with the driving, walking and boat safaris, then you throw in the beach and lake resort and you can easily entertain yourself and the kids for a week or more. When booking our accommodation and tickets, you also get entry into lots of other local attractions, which we didn't even get a chance to do.
I would say the only downside was the food. The restaurants were expensive and there weren't a lot of options. The best one to eat at if you do choose to eat out is at Hogan House, as the buffet was good. However the upside to each of the restaurants are the views of the animals, and the fact they have play parks for the kids (although there isn't really any play equipment for under three). In our lodge you did have a kitchen so you could easily self cater, as there are supermarkets a short drive away from the resort.
I would 100% recommended this place to anyone who loves animals or wants a holiday with a bit of a twist. My only piece of advice would be to avoid trying to see the animals on a really hot day as they all hide in the shade. We did one walk on a scorching hot day and hardly saw any animals then the next day it rained and stormed in the morning, so by the afternoon it was much cooler and they were all out in force!
Laura — Google review
It is a very nice park. We did a bus safari. The bus driver was so enthusiastic. She told us nice stories about the park, the animals and it was really fun to listen to her. Then we did a preying bird safari. It was also a fascinating show. Those birds were so gracious to see. Besides, we walked through the park. It's beautiful. And animals do look happy there. But the cutest thing was to see the three little elephants. The smallest one was just three days old. Super cute!
People working there are so friendly! We enjoyed this experience.
Veronika Vereha — Google review
We stayed at Beekse Bergen in a Giraffe House. The kids loved staying onsite. The park itself is well laid out and spacious. The bus safari was enjoyable, but unfortunately we understood nothing as it was in Dutch (obvs not their fault) but our kids got quite bored as a result. The playgrounds scattered around the park were amazing. There was a great selection of snacks and cafes. All well priced too. We spent a full day there and the kids had a blast. We would highly recommend Beekse Bergen to families with young children.

Place for a day out with kids.
Jungle safari ride , or walk both are equally interesting . Plenty of parking space. Several food and snack options are available.
Light safari festival was lovely experience. Although the crowd was not managed properly , too crowded and a walking route of 20mins took more than 2hrs due to crowd.

A great place for one days trip. Children will love it. Do take the Safari either by there bus or your own car. Seeing a cheetah walk across my car was the best moment for me.

We visited the light safari which was really nice. There were so many people which sometimes completely forced the crowd to a complete stop. Felt like walking in ultra slow motion most of the time e. Got a lot better past the half way bar.

We loved the Night Safari. It was beautiful and the prettiest lights we’ve seen. We came right at 5:00 on a Sunday night so it was busy. There are staff directing parking so that’s nice. I recommend coming later after 5:00 so it’s not so congested. When we left around 6:30, it wasn’t crowded at the gate at all. We walked through the whole thing in an hour. There are food and drink booths in the middle of the loop, and there is the Winterplein at the beginning/end with more food and drinks. We had warm waffles and hot dogs (not bratwurst) and it was decent. There were also frites and snacks booths.

So lovely place to spend time with a family 😍
A lot of animal babies, different ways to observe the park - boat, car, walking by yourself.
I believe, in summer it will be even more comfortable to visit this place.

A very nice place to spend time with your family. A bit of long distances to get sometimes from one place to another, due to the size of the entire resort/safari, but I would not consider it that big of a problem. Enjoyable night light safari show, walking around with amazing light structure.
Bokrijk Openluchtmuseum is one of the largest open-air museums in Europe showcasing Flanders' past through over 100 period buildings and furniture from before World War I. The museum offers a nostalgic view of village life and has undergone meticulous renovations since its establishment in 1958. While entrance is free after 5pm, it is recommended to spend at least three hours exploring the site properly.
A very pleasant surprise! Loved every bit of it. Tons of friendly and soft sheep to say hi to, stories to follow around the park. A trip back in time where everything seems so peaceful and nature was ruling.
Lots of activities for kids and adults.

Lovely place to visit with a huge park, farm, flowers, and open air museum recreating the life of old Belgium. They have many buildings that have been transported and preserved as Museum.
They have activities for young and old using traditional methods including carpentry, leather, and traditional games which can be used by all. They have a very nice recreation of the sixties, with typical urban shops, houses, pubs, etc.
It has good food options as well. Amazing place to explore and enjoy the day out

A beautiful walk around the lakes, lots of nature and cyclists, we walked it but it did look like a lovely cycle route too. Walking through the lake was a cool experience and provided a perfect photo opportunity!

We have been visiting this open-air museum for more than 40 years, and I think it is still wonderful. For my generation, born 1945 ..1955 it is probably a memory of the past, because in my living environment as a child there were still many old farms with smallholders and people farmed without a tractor and with a horse and cart. I myself have bound corn in sheaves and threshed it with a flail. That is why this museum really appeals to me.
It is also very nicely set up with beautiful hiking trails and also nicely divided into the different provinces / regions and you can taste the atmosphere of the past. There are also actors who bring a lively story in old costumes. People are present showing old crafts. There is children's entertainment through old children's games and children's workshops.
There are also some typical restaurants where you can eat dishes from the past.
While everything is becoming digital and museums can be replaced by virtual reality glasses, a day in Bokrijk is still the ultimate pleasure for me!

A nice place to spend the day. The old houses are interesting and there is usually a guide who is happy to tell you more about them.
The "sixties" are also worth visiting. The rooms make you feel so as travelling in time :)

Great place, recommended by a friend to visit while in Belgium. We were lucky enough to find good weather to be able to explore it fully. It was like going back in time, to the 19th century and then the sixties. There were actors dressed up doing a performance in one section. Kids also enjoyed seeing the animals etc.

This is a large and interesting outdoor museum. The buildings were all brought here from somewhere else in Belgium a rebuilt here. The history of buildings spans centuries. There’s even an area dedicated to the 50’s and 60’s.

Very relaxing park. Went on a sunny day and luckily there were a lot of shadows to avoid the sun. The items in the park were of diversity, from parks with flowers, to an exhibition of an old fashioned rich family house, to old sheds and buildings to show how life was in 19th century...everything is in dutch or English, easy to read. There are friendly park employees too who give information in most of the buildings. Overall a nice park, good for kids and a nice walk!

In Bokrijk, you can step back in time and experience what life was like in different periods. The museum has preserved historic buildings, including farmhouses, windmills, and craft workshops. These buildings provide a view into the daily lives of people from the past.
Bokrijk offers beautiful gardens and natural surroundings. The park area allows visitors to enjoy walking, picnics, and outdoor activities.
It offers a chance to connect with the past and gain a deeper understanding of Belgium's rich history.

Excellent experience to do with the family. We took the bike route around the domain first and passed the bridge through the water, it was very beautiful! The open air museum was very interesting too and also the presentations to visitors!
The Montagne de Bueren is a renowned landmark in Liege, Belgium. This notable structure consists of a lengthy stone staircase that ascends the hill at the center of the old town. It offers stunning panoramic views of the city, including its palaces and citadel slope. The climb up this steep flight of stairs may be daunting, but reaching the top is undoubtedly worthwhile. Postcards often feature this iconic sight, making it one of Liege's most famous attractions.
Many, many, many steps lead to fantastic views. You will see a bench at the top where you can enjoy the panoramic view of the entire city. If you continue to the right you can get even a slightly more improved version. Totally worth. And honestly, much easier than I expected. We didn’t even need to stop for breaks. And yes, many, many, many tourists even after dark. And it’s totally free!

Take some time to climb the 374 steps of these stairs going a monument and the Citadel on top. When it's warm in summer that can be a challenge but once on top you get a nice view over the city and the river below
The stairs were made between 1875 and 1880 to remember the 600 men from the small town of Franchimont who died during a surprise attack on the armies of Duke Charles the Bold and King Louis XI during the siege of Liège in 1468.

A cool stop for 15 minutes of exercise after driving in the car for two hours. I suppose we could have done it twice (or thrice) but I was in street clothes and the sweat was starting to arrive after one walk up under the blasting sun.

Great view point of the city from the top.
Nice climb up, not without any effort.
I loved using the handrails as slide

Fun and unusual place!! I'm reading mixed messages of the city here. Yea it's not really a beautiful city at the moment, while it has so much potential.
The infrastructure s*cks, the surrounding facilities and lack thereof show carelessness, and I hope the municipality gov will acknowledge the potential and go on a beautifying streak of all districts, not just the absolute centre!
Set an example for Wallonia. This can be done without too high costs. I think they're starting it at some places, just not enough to uplift the sense of faltering development, a heart without purpose.
The problem is the foundation and vision of the city, its relationship with traffic and concrete over nature and locals, and that has to be tackled, which is talk for another day...
The stairs structure however is really cool. Every city with hills should consider having similar ones, it's a place of fun, happiness, chitchat and reflection.
Clearly there's something magical about stairs going down and up to such an extent, you don't even have to believe in heaven. Everyone had smiles on their faces.

The stairs are one of the locations you have to visit in Liege not only for the physical activity of climbing them but also for the amazing reward you will get after reaching the top. After climbing , an outstanding view of the whole city opens and you can spend 10 minutes or more just admiring the beautiful city. A quick tip is to begin your journey with these stairs because after them , you will feel a little tired :) .

A nice workout walking up the stairs. Be sure to take breaks, turn around, and admire the view that gets better with each step. There are really neat doors to check out on the walk up. There’s a railing the entire length of the steps. The view from the top is good, but there are two even better viewpoints up by the WWI Memorial. Just take a right at the top of the steps and it’s only a couple extra minutes. We’ll worth it for the views of Liège.

What else is there to say other then: visit these stairs. Your condition and heart rate will be thankful of the exercise, you will be ashamed of your lack of training.
It really is a beautiful set of stairs, never thought I’d say those words but I can’t deny it. The view over Liège is nice, but I do think the steps are worth the visit in their own right.

This may seem donating but it is not that bad if you walk daily. If you do not exercise or walk much this could be hard but not impossible. Great view at the top and perfect way to burn off the waffles. Lol

The place is situated in the city center ofcourse and it is very close to main market.
There were 300+ stairs and the view at the top was breathtaking.
Would definitely recommend to go there solo as well as in groups.

Only attraction in Liege 😂 which was actually nicee as it has a history behind it, looks good enough for you to take picture with if you want, and even has nice view from the top!! Kinda perfect actually cuz it’s not even much crowded. This attraction is enough to gank the whole tourisms of Liege 😂 sad we don’t manage to find any souvenir of the stairs 😭

Probably one of the must do's of Liège.
The views from the top are pretty and worth the climb.
However, be mindful of the people that live there. Enjoy the experience and the city, but be also respectful with the people that lives there and that uses them as their daily path to go back home, to go to work...

Montagne de Bueren has a ton of stairs 😣, but it was an incredible adventure climbing them and getting to the top (just to realize there's another monument and more stairs further up, lol). Not going to lie, there were a few moments in which I was winded. The views are great and there are so many people taking the climb on! At the top, there was a sweet cat visiting everyone who had made it.

It takes 374 steps to get to the top but then you have a nice view of the city. You do need to be quite fit however the handrail is quite sturdy and you can of course take breaks

If you are fit then take these stairs around 374 to reach on top to see the view, there is just one bench on the top to rest.
It’s good if you can reach on top then this js the good test go check your fitness :)
The tourist attraction Fort Sint Pieter Maastricht Underground is a fascinating sight, as the caves there are made of limestone and were once a mining site. The tunnels and caves are a result of this mining, along with the settlement itself which is very cool with a fun tour that ends with an amazing view of the city. If you wish to leave the busyness of the city centre, this is definitely a tourist attraction you should visit.
The best tour guide with the nicest shoes ever! :)
Professional and knows a lot about the place both over and underground.

It is a captivating blend of history and nature. The fortress, steeped in rich history and guided by knowledgeable experts, offers an immersive experience for history enthusiasts. What truly sets this site apart are the intriguing underground caves and tunnels, revealing the fort's military secrets. I was enchanted by the cool, dimly lit passageways, which add a mysterious charm to the visit. Surrounded by panoramic views of rolling hills and the serene Maas River, this hidden gem provides a unique and unforgettable journey through time and natural beauty. Very cool settlement with a really fun tour. I highly suggest booking for the tour as you get a brisk walk through the innards of the dark building. Going through the narrow hallways and climbing the stairs is a lot of fun. The tour ends with a fantastic view of the city. Definitely go here if you wish to leave the busyness of the city centre. They also have cave tours btw if you want to be even more adventurous.

One of important historical landmark in Maastricht. It’s situated in the outskirts of the city, but accessible by walking or bus.
You can find this 19th century fort, situated on the top of the hill. Don’t worry, it’s just 125 metres from sea level, easy trek to reach the top.
Not sure about the entry inside the fort, but you can enjoy amazing view of the Maastricht city from the top of this hill.
Possibly there are guided tours to know about the fort, you can go with them to know more.
Plenty of parking spaces are available, if you are comfortable with car.
Highly recommended.👍

We bought a combo visit of the Fort and the caves. The guides, Marcel and Thom, made it a very interesting and entertaining experience. We enjoyed the tour and also learned a lot of things.
It's better to book in advance, so you can get to choose the hours. Also, bring an extra layer for the caves.

I love my experiences there with the lovely guide called Pauline. It was one of the best tours I have had so far. The tour, the guide, and the weather (on that day, not too hot or too cold) were perfect. I ended up knowing a lot more about the places and definitely will visit again because there are still more places underground that we didn't cover this time. Pauline suggested visiting again during the weekend to explore another area underground.
When you buy the ticket, you can choose either the fort or the cave. I recommend you do both. I think they are worth exploring.

Absolute must thing to do in Maastricht. The fort and the caves can be visited through the tours only (I think) and it is better to book in advance just to be sure. The tour would take you inside the fort from ground level to the top and explain the history of it. it was fascinating and last about an hour, the tickets for the tour and cave can be bought together. There is plenty of car parking available here but the best way is by the bike even though it is slight uphill, bike parking is where the restaurant is. Arriva bike is also available here. There is also a mini-golf.

The Bookstore Domincanen is a beautiful 13th century Dominican church that houses an indie bookstore selling diverse Dutch and English titles. The store is stunning, with sweeping arches and high ceilings, and attracts tourists from all over the world.
It's an amazing library inside an old church. The prices of books are standard and there is also a coffee area where to enjoy a reading. Most of the books are Dutch. However, you'll find some sections in different languages such as English, Spanish, French, German, etc. The place is worth a visit

Very beautiful book shop that is worth visiting. The book store fits very well in the old church and this way the architecture of the church can be appreciated. A decent collection of recent English books that will be sold fast. No surprising findings. Nice postcards and stationery.
Unfortunately there was no cosy feeling of an independent bookstore because this place kind of lost itself among a tourist attraction, a church, a photo oppotunity and a bookstore.

While studying abroad in Maastricht, this bookstore was one of the coolest spots in town.
Not only does it represent the European mindset of reuse and repurpose, but the look and feel of this church turned bookstore was legendary! Visually it is a very nice store. Very iconic location, but it's not the best 'book'store. But that might be a personal thing, I like my bookstores to sell books and little else. This store however is more all round and sells records, CDs and smaller items like mugs, calenders and notebooks. Certainly book related items but it might have had an impact as the bookselection felt a little limited, though that might also be a space thing. Despite the large square footage at its core its a fairly small store. As a bonus though, there was also a selection of second hand books.

The Aachen Cathedral (Aachener Dom) is a Roman Catholic cathedral in the city of Aachen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is one of the most important religious monuments in Europe and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. The octagonal Palatine Chapel was built by Emperor Charlemagne as his palace church in 800 and later became the coronation chapel for Holy Roman Emperors. The Gothic choir was completed in 1414.
This Roman Catholic church is really old as it dates back to the 9th century. Many German Kings and Queens were crowned in Aachen's Cathedral, as well as being the resting place for Charlemagne. There is nothing modest about this structure. Mosaics, gold and marble in the interior add a glorious feeling. It is considered occidental architecture and if you take a tour you can learn all about this new UNESCO World Heritage site.
Sudarat Maneetapo — Google review
So much history throughout this stunning Dom. Free to walk in on the first floor, where you get a view of the mosaic ceilings and top to bottom, stained glass. The climb to the top of the tower is also easy and accessible. This is a must see when visiting Aachen.
Mathew Love — Google review
My visit to Aachen Cathedral in 2014 was a fascinating journey into the heart of history and art. The cathedral's rich architectural heritage and religious significance left a lasting impression, making it a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and culture lovers.
The intricate design and craftsmanship of the cathedral's interior were awe-inspiring. The golden mosaics and beautifully adorned chapels showcased the skill of the artisans who created this magnificent place of worship. The Palatine Chapel, in particular, stood out with its unique octagonal shape and exquisite detailing.
The historical importance of Aachen Cathedral as the coronation site of numerous German kings added to its allure. Standing in the same space where centuries of royal history unfolded was a humbling experience that transported me back in time.
The cathedral's surroundings, including the charming Old Town and the nearby Elisenbrunnen, provided an excellent backdrop for exploring the city's cultural offerings.
However, the experience could have been enhanced with more detailed information provided at various points within the cathedral. While the architecture spoke volumes, additional signage or guided tours would have provided deeper insights into its historical and religious significance.
Overall, Aachen Cathedral is a treasure trove of art, history, and spirituality that should not be missed. Despite the minor lack of information, the beauty and cultural value of this UNESCO World Heritage Site make it a compelling destination for anyone with an appreciation for the past and the wonders of architectural excellence.

Aachen Town Hall is a landmark of cultural significance located in the Altstad of Aachen. It was built in the Gothic style in the first half of the 14th century.
The building itself is amazing. We didn't enter inside, but from outside is outstanding.

The city hall of Aachen is a very cool and historic place. The crown jewels given to the king or queen of Aachen is stored here behind a glass wall. It is valued at about 1 million euros. The hall itself is where many people such as Henry Kissinger (he unfortunately died the day this post is being written) were celebrated and inaugurated. I definitely reccomend visiting the city hall if you are in the area, especially at night. I also highly reccomend getting a tour guide to explain all the culture and history.

The City Hall of Aachen, a very old and beautiful building. A lot of historical artifacts inside as long as animated interactive movies that show the history of the city. In addition there are also a lot of photoes and videos of how the city used to look, as long as footage from the World War II.
Totally worth visiting when in Aachen.

The Overloon War Museum is a large museum in the town of Overloon that focuses on WWII history, displaying military vehicles and weapons while also highlighting a local battle. The museum has been recently renovated and offers visitors the opportunity to learn about past wars, particularly WWII. One highlight of the museum is the Militracks Weekend held in May each year, which features displays of army vehicles, tanks, jeeps, and markets.
Initial exhibition area at the front of the museum is a wide open and quite sparsely populated. But as soon as you get to the large "storage hall" in the back that is where all the hardware is stored.
An excellent exhibit is the Lancaster that was dug up from the mud with all the pieces located as part of the fuselage.
Other hardware is in great shape with loads of pieces from tanks trucks and planes.

Nice museum. Not to big, but a nice and good restored collection.
You can also cross the museum by bike, over a bridge.

Wow! Take every bit of kit left over from Operation Market Garden, then restore it and present it in a massive hanger... and you've got Overloon! It's amazing. Friendly, helpful staff and a good cafe. A must visit.

Simply brilliant museum that handles war and its horrors in a sensitive manner. Very impactful information section. Breathtaking military vehicle collection maintained to a high standard. All staff I interacted with were excellent. A special thanks to Matt who accompanied me for a walk around the garage and shared stories of the vehicles and their maintenence.

A big museum in the town of Overloon where visitors can learn about past war's but mainly the second world war. In May there is a Militracks Weekend with ww2 army vehicles, tanks, jeeps, market and entry to the museum

Impressive museum about the second world war (WW2). This is the best WW2 museum I have been too (so far) that describes the reality of the war. The collection of people that experienced the war was very impressive and interesting. They tell the story of different people in the war. The collection of tanks, artillery, other vehicles and planes is impressive. Around these there are weapons, ammo, shells and electronics ordered. Also very interesting are the military bikes and the impressive amphibious vehicles. This is a museum worth the visit. Also outside there is a big nice park.
F. Nobels — Google review
One of the most beautiful and detailed war museums I have visited so far. The horrors of WW2 have been explained very well. Must do things when you visit are climbing inside a tank and seeing the hundreds of bombs, bullets and missiles that have been displayed.
The tagline "War belongs in a museum" best fits this place... Worth visiting
Sudhir MK — Google review
It starts off with a lot of interesting information about the netherlands in WW2.
The items are original and the story about it, how it's explained is pretty good.
There is a big hall with alot of vehicles and other war machinery.
They have shelfs and shelfs of different kind of radio's and ammunition / grenades.
And an most impressive layout of the crashed british Lancester NN775.
On the outside there some more tanks and information.

I was very excited to see this museum, and it surely did not disappoint! Tickets can be bought directly on site (no need to book in advance) the whole museum takes around 4-5 hours (if you read everything in depth). Tells the heart breaking history of the occupation of Netherlands. very informative! The information inside is provided in German and i was told that English is also available. At the end there is a huge exhibition of tanks, various vehicles, planes...etc. Simply amazing!!

Amazing museum with a great collection of both artefacts but lots of vehicles as well. It also shows the impact of the occupation endured by the Dutch during WW2 as well as their resistance.
It also presents the effects of the holocaust which spread to the Netherlands as well.

The most incredible display of WW2 artifacts, vehicles, planes, tanks, etc, I have ever seen. Highly recommended visit!
Marinus Van Giessen — Google review
A must go for everybody with intriguing personal stories to make the war touchable. I went there with my 15 year old daughter and she liked it. I could enrich the displays with some back ground info. Questions like what is a glider, what is a radar, what are these metal tripods doing outside and how does a V-1 fly. I would have liked more explanations on how it all works. Some displays are very unique like the boat Yvette and the Lancaster bomber display. Also why not a recruitment leaflet, how to join the army? There were many schoolkids from some high school when we visited. They should also consider a career in the army. War is not some stuffy thing from the past. It is all around us!
Wilfred Steeman — Google review
For any WW2 buffs, this is heaven! I spent 4 hours wandering through the exhibits. Many well known and underappreciated pieces were on offer to look over, notably a Panzer V and Stug self propelled gun.
For english speakers, the app to bring up English translations was well worth using to get the most out of this amazing museum in a quaint and very important town in the history of Operation Market Garden.

This was our last stop on our trip to visit WWI battlefields and cut across Belgium and the Netherlands. This is a very comprehensive museum full of great exhibits mostly on WWII. Many of them are based on German equipment which one (at least I never found any) cannot find in Germany proper.
A storyboard tells the story of what it was like living on the border when the Wehrmacht stormed across the border as well as what life was like under German occupation. Loads of exhibits show life on and off the battlefield.
Though most of the museum is aimed at World War II, there are many great exhibits of previous and later conflicts.

A friend recommended visiting and we drove over. Very glad to have had a chance to visit and look at the collection of World War II vehicles, weapons, and exhibits. Was surprised to see the collection included pieces from the Imperial Japanese Navy from across the globe. Also learned quite a bit about the battles fought in the area. Definitely worth the trip!

It was wet weather when we visited, so we only got to tour the inside, however the impact I felt from the museum was huge. The sheer amount and types of vehicles really portrays the scope of the war in a graphic way. The Lancaster wreckage display was very impactful as well.
I would definitely go back to explore the grounds as well if I ever get the chance!

Archaeological park featuring full-size reconstructions of Roman houses, temples & an amphitheater.
Very big park on a historical site where the past is brought back to the present.
I hope much more will be excavated and many more buildings reconstructed.
Becouse what has been done is very much like the real deal with a very great kwality. Like the northern gate and the amphitheater are my personal favorites.
Definitely worth a visit if you like history.

A great and detailed reconstruction of the ancient Roman city "Colonia Ulpia Traiana" (CUT). The park covers many different parts of Roman life and contains a lot of buildings with information boards. Our group had a tour guide who took us through the most important stations of the park (in German) and I can only recommend that. Nice lady who knew her topic very well and made everything exciting for children. A must-visit for every Latin student!

A great Museum to experience and learn about the history of roman empire in Germany. Top attractions were Aphitheater and Hafentempel. One of the most beautiful and well created archeological site. The park is really huge. In trip advisor and various other review sites, people talk about spending nearly 3hrs here. Well, you need atleast a day to really feel and understand the history behind this place. The park could be entered through multiple entries which are primarily the 3 active gates of the park. The main attractions in the park are Hafentempel, Roemer Museum, Amphitheater and the walls and towers near the Amphitheater. There is a windmill in the middle of the park. It is converted into cafe and they don't allow people to go up to view from the terrace which is shame. Apart from that the entire archeological park is must see! It is only 800m from the railway station.
Sreeram Sadasivam — Google review
Unfortunately I felt a bit disappointed by the visit here. The site is actually well maintained and the staff are very helpful but I was unsure about the treatment of the archaeology still present on site in that according the guide the recreated structures have been built on top of the original (roman) remains.
I had a feeling this was to an extent the wrong way to treat and to clearly separate what was old and original and what was a recreation. Having said that the recreations are very good as far as I can determine but many of the people I overheard thought wrongly these were in fact true old roman structures.
The site is very large and there are very limited excavations visible (Mar 24). If you do go then make sure you also have a stroll around Xanten. St. Viktor is quite beautiful inside.

A History museum done right. Experimental architecture is thé best way to help people imagine the past. The archaeological Museum Xanten shows how it can be done. Even though this might not be for everyone, for those interested in history, with all levels of prerequisite knowledge, it's a great visit. The (partial) reconstruction of the houses, the amphitheater and the temple are great and I particularly enjoyed the ship building shed. The museum is a nice visit as well with information available in English, German or Dutch.

Germany's largest archaeological open-air museum invites you to an exciting excursion into history. Impressive buildings such as the harbor temple and the amphitheater, residential buildings and bathing facilities provide vivid insights into life in Roman Germania.
In addition, the award-winning LVR-RömerMuseum, excavations and activities to participate offer a variety of incentives to approach Roman times with all your senses.
For children, the meadows and large playgrounds offer many opportunities to let off steam and discover.
Good value for money and reasonably priced selection of food, drinks coffee also fair prices. Really good place for kids. Playing area very clean and beautiful 😻 my kids and other kids also really enjoyed! Thank you so much for your good maintenance.
Dusseldorf's iconic Rhine Tower is a towering landmark that offers panoramic views of the city and region from its riverside location. The building below, the new Landtag (regional parliament), is an extraordinary addition to the skyline. The Rhine tower is an absolutely breathtaking structure, by the banks of the Rhine river. The evening hours are the peak times for visitors, it is recommended to book the tickets online. We got the tickets in the reception for €10 per adult. The elevator is very quick and takes you to the first level, where the in-house cafe and viewing area is located. The level above hosts a restaurant, which is again recommended to be reserved prior. An amazing experience overall, I must say!

Overall nice TV Tower with a not bad view. However there's really not too much other value added to it, hence the 10 euro ticket doesn't feel like a super great deal. The middle level has some okay-ish snacks and drinks, but the upper level only opens in the night. So if you are visiting during the day, not much else you could do honestly.

€11+ to go up into a super hot tower, they need to install an AC here! ( They presumably do this so you buy expensive drinks at the top of the tower to cool you down. )

The Cologne Cathedral is a huge, imposing building with a beautiful facade. It's also a popular tourist destination with guided tours and views of the Rhine.
Majestic, grand and all those similar adjectives. This is the main attraction in cologne and is worth it. The space around the cathedral is also relaxing. The insides of the cathedral is breathtaking. Also you can climb the tower which is also, literally, breathtaking, since there are 500 odd steps to climb. Visit as early as possible to avoid crowd. The Cologne Cathedral is a magnificent architectural masterpiece that I had the pleasure of visiting. This Gothic-style cathedral, located in Cologne, Germany, is truly a sight to behold. With its towering spires reaching towards the heavens and intricate stained glass windows, it is no wonder the cathedral has garnered so much admiration and recognition. The interior of the cathedral is equally awe-inspiring. The high ceilings and ornate carvings that adorn the walls add to the sense of grandeur and historical significance that this beautiful building possesses. I was particularly captivated by the organ, which is a remarkable feat of engineering and craftsmanship. The atmosphere inside the cathedral is one of reverence and tranquility, allowing visitors to appreciate the art and spirituality that encompasses them. Exploring the Cologne Cathedral was an unforgettable experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

Amazing and breathtaking, a true feat of human engineering. Free entry into cathedral proper, but small fee if you want to climb the tower (~500 steps) or explore the treasury. Main church has plenty to see and its easy to relax and enjoy the organ every so often. Mass is available quite frequently. Such a beautiful and impressive church! Definitely worth a trip to see!

Magnificent cathedral with majestic views. The first view of the cathedral from the train station is breathtaking. The (ticketed) climb up the stairs of bell tower was fun and the views of Cologne from the top were great. Definitely worth a visit.

Going to Cologne Cathedral with your friends was amazing. The building is super impressive with its tall spires and fancy details.
When you go to the top, you can see a really great view of the city. It's a really special place shows architecture brilliance, history and culture. Definitely worth checking out!

It is one of the most visited destinations by tourists, as it is definitely impressive. I was totally fascinated by the architecture of this place.
I loved the feeling of tranquility and security inside the cathedral. However, it is also quite imposing. What surprised me the most was the catacombs part.
I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to visit this place.

Cologne Cathedral is beautiful, amazing building. It is 157 m tall and the world’s third largest Gothic-style cathedral with 10,000 square metres of windows and 20,000 visitors daily.
A lot of people want to take a picture of it so always is crowded in front of cathedral, but it's worth it.

I visited Cologne for Christmas 2023 and it was a great experience. There were a lot of tourists, big crowds, and there was a Christmas bazaar around the cathedral. This cathedral is my second favorite place in Germany, so I highly recommend everyone to visit it. It's huge size cathedral, look so amazing by night

What an impressive building it is! Beyond imagination. I was blown away and someone even played the organs. Thank you for that.
I just do not understand why they decided to build a railway station and a two lane road by the cathedral.

Climbed to the top of the cathedral. One stair case for both up and down and over 500 steps on a narrow spiral staircase. Not for the unfit or people scared of tight spaces. However once at the top the views were amazing

This was the first cathedral we went to on our visit to Germany. As we came out of the DB station , the cologne cathedral standing in front looked heavenly... It was a sight which has remained with me till date, the beautiful architecture of the Cathedral along the hotel spaces with the rhine river bridge along it looked mesmerizing...
The interior of the church looks beautiful. There is a provision to go till the top through stairs and it gives a birds eye view of Cologne city 🌆
The cafes around are a cherry on top, just take a cup of a drink and enjoy the intricacies of the architectural beauty 😍

We visited the cathedral during the week. Once out of the train station you see the cathedral just outside. Take the opportunity to cross the bridge to the other side of the river and go to the view point. For a small fee you have spectacular views of all the city.

The scale of this place impresses me each time I visit. It's an incredible work of art and history. 300 years to build. It would be amazing if restorations were able to occur more quickly to remove more of the black from the exterior. It's truly amazing!

My life long dream came true last evening when I visited this good old Cathedral that survived heavy shelling during World War II. Place of biblical historical importance. Memorable Visit!
The Cologne Central Station has been refurbished and upgraded to cater to local, national, and international passenger trains. The hostel adjacent to the station offers easy access to nearby tourist destinations. The rooms are well-lit with parquet or hardwood flooring and large windows providing a great view of the neighborhood. Guests can sleep soundly on comfortable single beds with individual bed headlight for checking emails while lying down.
.There are so many Shops, toilet costs 1 euro but you will get back a voucher for 50 cents that you can use to some stores in the station.
There is an automatic luggage storage system by the entrance near the info booth.
The central station is located near the bay where there are many restaurants.
Wifi is free and fast.. good connection

A great place to arrive and depart. This station is located in the middle of everything. There is the famous Cathedral, history, a museum and lots of shopping areas with restaurants. A short walk & you can walk beside the River or across the bridge .

Iconic landmark of great architecture building that well maintained n fully operated by days. Since it belong working from decades ago, i truly love the design n it was never out of date construction.
The station looks clean enough n di outside of platform there's many stores like other Mall in the city center. You can find food n drink too.
Near the station, just walking distance, there's main hall n one of the icon tallest building of koln, koln cathedral, that so extremely amazing n artsy design by its exterior. The city hall was so huge, lot of people hanging around this public space.

Problem with trains in Germany is that they’re always delayed way beyond scheduled time. While the station itself is beautifully located besides the Cologne Cathedral but it becomes very frustrating at times.

Köln Hauptbahnhof… I arrived there at 3.15 am and different shops were open, I felt very safe and there was also a lot of police around. The famous Cologne Down was just next door, a real eyecatcher and worth the visit while being there. The train was on time and the facilities are beyond what you would expect from other so called stations, next time I’ll certainly opt again to travel from Köln, Cologne in English onwards as it’s probably the best ever station I spend time in, even when I returned, a lot of trains were available! TOP!

"Koln" main train station. Center of the city. The Cologne Cathedral is right next to the station. Lockers for luggage for tourists with a quick stop over the city. Lots of food services in the station as well.

Central station for the city of Köln (Cologne), it is one of the busiest rail stations in Germany. It is quite large and I got to explore it a bit today thanks to a delay by the wonderful folks at Deutsche Bahn.
My tip to you is that if you do have an extended layover here, use the luggage storage for your suitcases and step outside. You'll find the tremendous Kölner Dom that is worth photographing and touring. I did not have THAT much time so it was pictures only today.
The train station has coffee (including Starbucks, yuck), pastries, lots of restaurants, restrooms, a waiting lounge if your train ticket includes that service, car rentals, ATMs and yes, the Ibis hotel.

Not my favorite train station in Germany but it is a major transportation hub and I have ended up using it every now and then! Lately it hs become a home for many homeless people and while securing try to do their job, you often end up seeing conflicts and suspicious individuals walking by. Be aware of pickpocketing, there are entire groups strolling around.

It’s in the center of everything. Big enough for everything, shopping, dining more than enough restaurants and definitely many destinations nationwide or internationally you can use. Neighbor of Kölner Dom and high street shops. It has a big square in front of it even for watching and taking some time while you’re waiting it would be useful.

The Cologne Chocolate Museum is a museum dedicated to the history of chocolate. The museum has permanent exhibitions on the history of chocolate from different parts of the world, and includes interactive exhibits for visitors to experience the taste and texture of different chocolates.
What an impressive show of industrial skill. I’ve been to chocolate museums before but this was on another level. It had partially operational industrial machinery demonstrating how chocolate is made now and in the past. Then on top of that it has several historical exhibits, a chocolate shop and a cafe. Nearly everything is in English. Quite the experience for a foreigner.

You can buy tickets upon entry, no need for advance tickets unless you want. I thoroughly enjoyed going through the museum and learning the history of chocolate and how it’s made, processed, and used across the world and different cultures.
Coolest part is seeing the chocolate actually made right in front of you through different steps. You even get to click a button that pops out the chocolate that was just cooled/made. Definitely worth the visit here in Cologne!

The place is great! A must visit tourist attraction in Cologne. The place is mostly crowded on the weekend and the getting a ticket there might become a big challenge. The place is located right at the heart of the city so it’s easily accessible but parking is a problem, the place doesn’t have its own parking, need to use nearby parking places and walk to the museum. The place has lot of history and future plans for chocolate industry, also the making of chocolate. A whole floor is dedicated for chocolate making and you can see how chocolate bars are made by looking at the working machines. There is also small chocolate outlet to get chocolates and souvenirs from the museum.

Very informative museum, plus free samples! Easy to get tickets as they were issued in 15minute increments. Loved the history and the ways so many countries contribute to chocolate manufacturing. Plus great to see chocolate making in action!! Cafe was a nice atmosphere after wandering; crepes were divine!!

I would not say that this is a must visit on your trip to Cologne. Also with entry ticket at at EUR 14 per adult, the place is a bit expensive. We went to the place as a family with our four year old son. The place gives information on chocolate processing, and one can find live chocolate production happening at the place. You can taste the freshly made chocolate, if you buy tickets to the museum. Overall the place is OK, If you are on a leisurely trip to Cologne, you may visit the place.

Nice place to have an idea about how the 'Lindt' chocolates are made. Very nice place to take children for their level of excitement.
Especially nice to see the different types of process throw which chocolates are made. It's one of a kind experience. Not to forget and miss the free sample tasting of chocolate wafers provided.
Wheelchair accessible entrance is available. Exciting information about chocolates are available.

The museum is not so big and the whole tour takes about 1-1,5 h. It's good to come in the morning as it isn't crowded. To avoid waiting in the line, I would recommend buying the tickets earlier via the website. In the museum you can see a lot of information about each step of chocolate production. Actually you will get an answer to all kinds of questions about chocolate. Inside there is a small production line which is very interesting. In the end, you may taste a fresh piece of chocolate or try something sweet from the chocolate fountain. This is definitely a place worth visiting however the price of the ticket could be a bit lower.

Reasonably priced and really enjoyable for people of all ages. Explains where the raw ingredients come from, transport, production (the smell is superb), marketing and sustainability to name a few. Free chocolate along the way including the chocolate fountain, and be sure not to miss the cafe afterwards, the staff everywhere were nice but my server in the cafe in particular was great. Gift shop not silly money either for the quality you’re buying. A must visit!!!

Really sweet experience!
They give some free Lindt chocolate when you enter, good for some sugar rush as you explore the museum.
You can try some free chocolates at various chocolate stations. You get to see the process of making chocolate and you’ll also see some robotic machinery they use now.
If you come in after 5pm, they have a ticket sale, since they close at 6pm. The chocolates in the store are also priced well.

Really interesting factory museum. I thought they did a nice job including a wide array of interests/considerations to include some relating to fair trade and global warming concerns in the chocolate industry. Lots to look at, you could spend half a day here for sure. Loved the shop, plenty to buy there. One of the coolest things was that you have the opportunity to have a custom chocolate bar made right in front of you!

Fun for the entire family. I think particularly those with children would do themselves a disservice by not going to this place. But even those who would perhaps have a grey hair more than they would like are still going to find something fun and educational in the visit. The tour is well laid out and you get great views of the city . Its a well spent time in Cologne.

I love chocolate, especially lindt! Complimentary chocolate on arrival was happily received, then an interesting history of cocoa until the best part, the chocolate fountain and factory section. Samples of the liquid chocolate are handed out, I could've stayed in that section the whole time! I wasn't too bothered about the rest of the museum other than the complimentary chocolates upon leaving. The shop had an amazing selection too. Busy on weekends

We visited the Lindt chocolate Museum recently. We were thrilled to attend the fine tasting session. The narrator gave us an complete overview of the chocolate processing and we had an opportunity to taste some of the products during the process like from the coco beans, coco butter to final stage of finished chocolate.
Highly recommend to get an online booking specially during weekend. We saw really huge line on Saturday luckily we had our session booked. Good for kids.

Buy tickets in advance online. Go early, when the museum opens to avoid the crowds. I enjoyed that they showed the entire journey of a chocolate bar. Even showing things like shipping and market share of different brands. Even though I was there on a Sunday there were lots of staff in the chocolate factory showing off their craft which was great to see. The museum also had a history part, detailing things such as chocolate during the wars. So in summary, the museum really has a bit of everything and of course the opportunity to taste the chocolate. I would recommend a visit if in Cologne. Also, if you are there during December the Christmas market in front of the museum was one of the less crowded markets.

It is a well designed museum with a lot happening there.
As many others recommended, buy your ticket well in advance and if you're interested in a tour (I highly recommend one) buy it way way in advance.
I booked the short course (30 min) that gave an overview of different stages of production with tasting (Yes! we tried a bean!). It was worth the extra 2.5 EUR for sure and was not too long.
There's a green house with chocolate and banana trees that have fruits!
I recommend going there if you're in Köln. Definitely one of the best things to do there.

Visiting this museum was one of the best decisions I made when I was in Cologne, Germany.
During the tour there are different exhibitions that explain everything from the origin of chocolate, to the way it is processed and obtained, as well as its commercial distribution.
The tour is very entertaining, and the best thing is that they give free chocolate samples. Although the price could be considered somewhat high, I think it is totally worth it.

Super cool. You get to see where chocolate started and all of the processes to make it. There are samples from the chocolate made right in front of you, and you even have an opportunity to have your own chocolate bar made with different toppings. The chocolate tastes better than what is sold in the stores. So delicious and so fun! Use the QR code to purchase tickets. Waiting in line takes a lot longer.

That was a nice place to visit when you are in Cologne. Seeing A cocoa tree is interesting and a bunch of interesting information. My only complaint was the people assigned who are helping/ordering the queue. They were rude even on a plain simple question...
The Hohenzollern Bridge is a spectacular bridge in Cologne that is used for railway traffic. It has been nicknamed "Love Locks" because of the many couples who attach padlocks to the railing and throw the key into the River Rhine below. The bridge is one of Cologne's most popular tourist attractions, and it's estimated that its locks weigh more than two tons!

German church Bonn Münster, founded around 1,000 years ago, is an impressive and historic building. It has been used as a Christian church for centuries and is home to many sculptures depicting saints. The history of the catholic church in Bonn is interesting and worth learning about.

Bonn Minster is an interesting Catholic church, built between the 12th and 13th Centuries. At one point the church served as the de facto cathedral for the Archbishopric of Cologne, because it is the major church of what was then the Archbishop-Elector's residence. It is now a minor basilica.

Huge church visible from many parts of the city still under reconstruction (the front of church and the main tower) in July 2022, however it was possible to visit the inside.
The newly reconstructed interior is church typical, nothing extraordinary and as I would say there are many other prettier churches around Germany. The nave is simple, almost minimalistically decorated, painted in white and dominated by large organs. It was a bit darker inside than in other churches I have visited. The walls and ceiling at the altar were very colorful and playful, and the floor had quite a nice and unique mosaic floor. I appreciated the depiction of the Coat of arms of Germany in one of the transepts.
Unfortunately no information was provided at the entrance, no guide nor any paper brochure to learn more, however a guided tour can be booked. Unfortunately I was unable to visit the cloister and crypt as the opening hours vary to the churches opening hours. Visited in July 2022.

Visiting Beethoven's house in Bonn has been a lifelong dream of mine, and it certainly did not disappoint. As a classical music lover, getting to walk the same halls where one of history's greatest composers once lived and worked was an incredible experience. The house itself is beautiful, with its classic 18th century architecture and the lush gardens surrounding it. Inside, I was amazed to see Beethoven's actual pianos, original scores, and other artifacts that gave me a glimpse into his creative genius. Though he went deaf later in life, standing in that house you could almost hear the music in the air. Getting to see where Beethoven was born and spent his formative years left me inspired and in awe of his lasting legacy. This visit is one I will cherish forever.

Small house filled with interesting tidbits on Beethoven including a unique statue made from a plaster mask while he was not very old, the string quartet instruments he was gifted, items from his daily life, facsimile scores, ear trumpets, and info on his friends, patrons, and acquaintances. I recommend doing the audio tour as it will add quite a bit of context and information to the experience. Perhaps too much. If one were to listen to every entry in the guide you'd likely be there for several hours.

Beautiful and well maintained museum. The staff is very friendly, the items are easy to get to and see, tickets could be easily bought on the spot. I visited on Dec 23 and the museum wasn’t super busy. The special exhibition opened at 11:30 a.m. (museum opens at 10 a.m.) which gave me enough time to see the rest of the house without being in rush. The whole experience took me about a hour and a half. The musical rooms are very meditative and I definitely recommend spending time listening to Beethoven’s music for a while. Pictures could be taken everywhere with exception of the Treasury room where the special exhibition was placed. A definite must-go for a professional musician!

Visited it on a Saturday late afternoon, overall liked the place and was able to cover it in 75 mins. It's small with ground, first and second floor. The place offers you to see different potraits of Beethoven, some of his musical instruments, letters from his family and friends, and some hearing devices. To get more info about the exhibits you can download an app. The download did not work for me inside the Haus so I went to the ticket shop again to download it.
Treasury area is only open from 11 till 14:00 or 15:00. Next to the Treasury you can go into the music room and relax there while listening to some of the famous compositions.
You can buy the tickets from the ticket amd souvenir shop opposite to the house at a normal price for 12 euros and for students 7/7.5 euros.

This was one of the main reason I travelled to Bonn. It was a nice medium sized museum full of Beethoven's personal letters, manuscripts, artifacts and instruments. What I found quite interesting was the correspondences detailing Beethoven's relationships. Download the app in the shop using their free wifi before entering the gallery so you can use the audio guide. Bring a good set of earphones (noise cancelling preferably) as its a small space and the creaky floors and many tours get quite loud over the audio guide.

Wonderful experience! My visit was at the end of January and it was so cold inside of the gasometer that I was about to cry 😆 but an unforgettable installation of our Mother Earth covered all the discomfort. You can sit and relax there in a quiet sort of a meditation, watch endless strokes of flying airbuses and clouds. At first floor you are definitely mesmerized with all the colors & vivid photos and think upon how unique, precious Earth is. On the second floor the ugly truth strikes you and see how human beings become the parasites of Earth and ruin everything. I am so much into photograpy so it was kind of Stendhal syndrome for me. So this is absolutely a “must go” exhibition👍

We stopped by to see “Das zerbrechliche Paradies” exhibit. An excellent exhibition of the earth and humanities impact on the environment. You can go to the roof but we decided to pass on that owing to time as well we were rather exhausted from traveling on the autobahn. Plenty of parking was available when we went and the exhibit is in German and English.

It's a very cool building and a unique exhibition hall. The "Fragile Paradise" exhibition is quite good, but it's in the wrong place. I doubt that the audience it targets needs to be explained what it's about. However, the upstairs globe is mesmerizing; that's what truly makes the exhibition worth recommending. Another reason is that the building.
The exhibition's theme don't bring anything new; we've seen and heard about it many times before.
Mate Budai — Google review
Lovely experience! The images of the exhibition were beautiful and interesting, although many of them were also heartbreaking. The exhibition is about the fragility of the earth and mankind's impact on the world we live in. There are English translations almost everywhere, if that's something you're looking for!
Of course, the main attraction here is the massive globe hanging on the 3rd floor, which is just an absolute treat to look at and already plenty reason to visit! There are a few stairs to sit or lay on, as well as a few large pillows to get a little more comfortable with. You need a little luck if you're looking to score one of those, though, as there aren't all that many if it's a little busier. The globe shows various views of the world, such as shipping and flight routes or typical wind flow.
There is also one elevator in the building that will take you to the roof of the building with a stunning view of the globe as you travel up. Usually, the big queue to enter prevents some from experiencing it so I'd like to share a little tip: there is an accessible elevator moving up the staircase outside. We hadn't seen anyone use this, and there was absolutely no queue! You can then descend down the main elevator in the building for the same experience as there is hardly a queue to go back down.
Overall very enjoyable, would recommend!

Great experience going to the top and looking at the views. We weren't brave enough to climb the stairs to the top but we did walk down them rather than use the elevator. The area inside was very interesting with lots of amazing wildlife photographs that have been enlarged and hang throughout the exhibition. Also lots of local history information as well.

Immersive awe-inspiring space. Heart wrenching spcial exhibition. Left with a heavy heart and trembling knees after braving the steps up out there. The elevator is a bit of a wait, but the ride is exhilarating. Cool place for all ages.

It was simply wonderful 😊. There were activities for kids too. They had designed an App for Kids to find a Foto and explaining stories regarding Foto and questions to answer. My 8 year old daughter enjoyed it a lot.
One of its kind hanging train. The train is in service from early 1900's. An amazing engineering feat!
The Bahn Route covers scenic places. It runs above river, roads. Try to occupy the last seat as it provides the best visual treat!

Only runs on weekends right now. But if you keep that in mind, it's a very affordable and unique tourist attraction. Great way to see a beautiful city. Buy the all-day ticket and hop on and off. Don't forget to learn about the famous elephant who rode the train

It's a very good experience for a one time ride. The trains were nice and clean. Lines are beautifully constructed over the central canal through the city. The views of the surrounding hills are also nice.
Tips: The tail end seats offer the best views. It's a bit noisy ride.

I was told about this suspension railway and recommended to try it. I joined at Kluse (one stop down from the main train station, next to the cinema) and grabbed a ticket - although cheap (only 1.70) I found the machine doesn't take credit card, so come prepared with coins.
The railway isn't big - only two carriages - but they are pretty frequent so if you miss one (or it's full), you don't have long to wait for the next. The carriages have been modernised: they're brightly-lit with clean seats that don't look worn in any way. Sitting at the back gives a good view down the river and along the roads during the trip, but as I tried it last evening in winter most of my trip was quite dark.
I travelled south-west all the way to Vohwinkel (the terminal stop) where it's possible to see the other carriages parked, so there's quite a few cars. I then grabbed the one on the other side and travelled back the other way.
Quite leisurely, a pretty smooth ride and fairly quick, given the age of the technology. Well worth the trip!
The UNESCO-World Heritage Site Zollverein contains a coke and coal mine that began in 1849. It is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the Ruhr region, with activities including exhibitions, concerts, and dance performances.
Well maintained, nice tour. Nice place to spend a sunny afternoon. Most of it you can visit for free. Tour is a bit rushed now, because they have to cram 2 hours into 1, but still worth it.

It is a wonderful place that has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Although we have a vaccination passport, we could not enter the museum because we did not have a test, but the outdoor and garden tells everything. This is what it means to protect your values. I advise. If you are going during the pandemic period, you cannot see it without a daily test and vaccination passport and mask.

Once a huge coal mine now a beautiful industrial monument in the middle of a park with museums, restaurants, playgrounds, walking and biking lanes. No entry costs except for the museums. You can easily spend the whole day.

The Zeche Zollverstein terrain has a lot to show for including a swimming pool, restaurants, shops and two museums, each requiring a ticket purchase. One is dedicated to design, while the other offers a broad spectrum of items, ranging from paintings and sculptures to rocks and artifacts displayed among the industrial spaces and machinery. The general history museum also features beautifully lit staircases, though elevators are available throughout for convenience. To enjoy a nice panoramic view of the grounds, visitors must ascend the stairs to the rooftop. There are a lot of free parking spaces, but it can get quite busy near the entrance, so arriving early is advisable. Given the extensive size of the grounds, biking is also a great option. The main downside is the poor signage throughout. It's often unclear where things are located, the pricing, and which parts belong to the museum versus separate exhibitions. For a World Heritage site, one might expect better clarity.

Wonderful experience and great museum layout. In addition, a couple of hand made shops compliment the museum area. You could easily spend many hours in the museum. The staff was friendly and helpful.

It is a very big area which is nicely planned in terms of design, style, service to show history.
You can simply touch and feel history and how the weather and the time was earlier. You can also have a guide who can explain you about the history and if you have luck to have someone with a good story telling skills then you can really enjoy the whole visit. There is also restaurant and cafe inside alongside with toilet free of charge.
The complex and buildings are distributed a wide area so you may face and see different views

Wonderful place to visit. Unfortunately, they don't have English guides on weekdays, but only on weekends. But we were able to walk around freely through the entire campus. The old coal mine, factory, and machinery looked majestic. A very beautiful place indeed. If you are around Essen, I would recommend this place to visit. And a beautiful location for your photoshoot as well.

An interesting Place to visit which grants you a look into the past. There is a lot to see, and tours to be taken. Whether you are young or old, want to walk a lot or not, there is something for everyone. A lot to look at, a lot to explore. You can walk around the premises and take a look at the different sites or take the bus.
There is a variety of restaurants and cafes all over the area if you get hungry or thirsty in the meantime.
There is plenty of parking so that you should easily find a spot whenever you come. Alternatively the site is easily to reach by public transport.
Overall if you are interested in the industrial times you should definitely give this place a visit when you are around.

What an amazing place of industrial heritage. One can only try to imagine this site bustling with activity, 8000 people on site and the noise and smell and dust and dirt. All this started by Franz Haniel to mine the black gold. We benefited from a well informed tour guide who helped to bring this to life, highly recommended since this gives you access to buildings equipped with sound and video installations.

Informative and well designed museum about the Ruhr area. The museum includes a great viewpoint of the surrounding area and a socio-historic overview of the area. Only reason why it isn't 5 stars is because it felt a bit propagandistic as the environmental impact of the mining industry was barely mentioned. Regardless it is still worth a visit.

Very nice museum, the workers are polite and they have app which has language options to explain everything to you. 3 different time zone museums and extra football museum. From my taste, you should directly go downstairs 12m start with the history (past) museum, i find that s more interesting. In present section lot of photos and not useful information just items. It has wifi and toilet everywhere. For child under 5 age, student whose under 25 its FREE. So enjoy

The tickets fares are rather confusing. We went on a day where the Red dot Museum was closed. So we only visited the Rhur Museum.
I recommend the fare that includes the permanent, the special, and the temporary exhibition. As you have to walk and travel up and down the many floors inside the museum on both sides. There is a rooftop for taking pictures of the monument. But only stairs. Each floor they check if you have the correct ticket so I recommend you take the all-included one as you walk a lot up and down the stairs.
Permanent exhibition is about history of the industrial complex and collections. The temporary exhibition is currently about football.

Incredible atmosphere! For my first time at a German football match, I couldn’t have imagined how good the atmosphere is. Stadium is super tall, which adds to the feel of the place, plus deafening chants from the ultras. Could not recommend visiting more, and I would defiantly pay to go again. Beer is also not a rare sight, which adds even more to the enjoyment of the match.

This is the best football ground for atmosphere in Western Europe. Although there are better grounds in terms of facilities or more modern ones for comfort, none of them can beat Signal Iduna Park. Fans are fantastic throughout the whole match, beer is amazing, getting to the ground is easy by trams, can get packed going out but still you will be out in a matter of minutes. The official store at the ground is massive. All being said, you must visit! There are plenty of fans coming from the nearby countries also.

Best stadium in the world. Nothing as good as standing in the Südtrubüne/Yellow Wall.

Westfalenpark is a vast and spacious park that boasts of a rosarium, mini train, observation deck with a café, and outdoor event spaces. The park is surrounded by trees which provide shade and create a relaxing ambiance for visitors. It's home to ducks and birds who roam freely around the area. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, mass gatherings were prohibited but now visitors can spend quality time with their friends and family at the park.
A park with wide space and trees. You can not imagine how pleasant you will feel if you visit the place. I have visited twice this place and I loved the place. You can walk around, have relaxation in the sitting chair. There are ducks and birds freely roaming around. Due to COVID-19 mass gatherings were not permitted, but now it's no longer applicable. So you guys can spend some quality time with your family and friends there. You just have to pay a very little amount of entry fee for tickets. But you cannot go in and out several times with the same ticket. Only one entry and exit is possible. There are wide space for parking too.

This park is one of the most beautiful parks which i have visited so far in Germany. Specially it is beautiful during the spring because of flowers and green nature 😍. It has fee for entrance and you have to pay 3.5 to visit it but it really worth because the park is so huge and fantastic. Wben you go there be ready to take a lot of photos from yourself because that could be really cool for your instagram profile photo 😉. It has many entrances and exits but i recommend to enter the main entrance because it is near Ubahn. For reaching the park you can simply take one Ubahn from Dortmund Hbf and reach the park after around 5 stations. There is a tower in the park which is so high and you can pay more 2 Euros and go to the top of it by elevator. Also there are some restaurants and cafe in the park which you can eat or have coffe or snack as well as food there. I don't recommend to go there alone because you need someone to take photo from you 😉

Pretty nice but overrated park on the outskirts of Dortmund. It costs €3.50 to enter and you can't even get on top of Florian Turm. There aren't a lot of sights inside of the park apart from a lake and the Japanese garden which is cool. I haven't seen such garden. However, everything else is just normal and you will find it in every public park. Also, all restaurants and shops are closed. However, there are many different kinds of trees and flowers, it is really calm and there are a lot of attractions for kids.

I like how it displays pictures of how it was look like with the damages and how it was restored and rebuilt to today’s shape. Inside the cathedral there are many chapels of which each of them shows different design and decorations. The most beautiful and impressive thing inside the church is the astronomical clock. It’s kept the original form and calendar which was built in 1600’s. It’s amazing to see how complicated the mechanical system was back then.

Currently one of Hamburg's wealthiest neighborhoods, the area is home to a number of historic landmarks, including the Blankenese Palace and park. The area is steeped in history, with narrow alleys and mansions connecting by many stairs.

It’s my favorite place to walk in Strandstraße. To ride a bicycle. It’s a nice calm place, especially during good weather in Hamburg.

one of the most beautiful spots in Hamburg, in all seasons of the year, whereas spring is breathtaking there. Recommended is a walk up and down some of the more than 5,000 steps, that sometimes lead to beautiful gardens and breathtaking views onto the river Elbe.

From the Blankenese Train Station you need to walk about 5 minutes before you find the first flight of stairs (there is more than one). The flights are usually narrow, I can imagine it can feel a little crowded in the summer. You can walk along the Elbe and get very nice views of Blankenesen from the shore. Nice place to visit (located in the westernmost part of Hamburg)

This district is always worth a trip. My goal is to have climbed every staircase once. There are incredibly beautiful corners and it's also a good workout for your cardiovascular system.

Beautiful area and a work out climbing all of the steps and winding around the neighborhood.
