Basilica di Santa Maria Assunta is a historic site, originally built in 313AD and featuring the largest floor mosaic in Western Christianity. The complex includes the Crypt of Excavations with geometric mosaics and terracotta flooring from an earlier stage, as well as the Fresco Crypt near the altar, housing faded yet beautiful 12th-century frescoes.
For only 5 euro you can enter the basilica and witness one if the oldest mosaic floors in Europe. I've never seen anything like it. The artwork is amazing. The entrance also includes the crypt. For an additional charge you can also see the newly excavated crypt. Highly recommend and hidden gem. Unesco site.

Beautiful Roman Ruins with Amazing and uge mosaic from V Century.
If you are on the road to or from Venise you must take 2hours to visit the site.
Benoit Fagnou — Google review
Anyone interested in history, art and architecture should visit this basilica. You can see elements from Roman, Langobard, Carolingian periods, and many more! 🙂
Adrian File — Google review
It was interesting to see the various levels built on one another in the basilica. I was impressed with the different mosaics and the different eras of architecture as the buildings grew and developed.
A couple problems were that the glass floors fogged up in places making it difficult to see certain parts of the mosaics, and that there were some areas not quite finished - but it is a beautiful building and worth visiting.
Andrew Grosser — Google review
This is a nice and well preserved basilica that you should see if you are somewhere near. The entrance fee is 5 € for adults and in my opinion it is worth the money. Toilettes are available on site and there is a little gift shop where you buy the tickets. The glorious exterior does put a nice vibe to think what is hiding on the inside. There are parking spots near by (2.5€ /h).

Stopped for "just a few moments" on the way to Austria and stayed for 2,5 hours. This gorgeous basilika and surroundings date back to Roman Time and if you look at the work done "back in the days", you would be speechless about the level of details and how much the people paid attention to the message they wanted to portray. The balance between "good and evil" as well as the internal struggle to a higher power - it is amazing how many stories have been told with a "simple" mosaic. Don't miss it!
Dimi Rogatchev — Google review
Lovely building in the heart of Grado, located in the old-town. Surrounded by a beautiful little square and some cozy, old fashioned streets. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the city ;)
Patrick Schild — Google review
Really nice place to visit with only 30 minutes with bicycle on a scenic road.
György Fényes — Google review
Visited here late in day, shuts at 6pm so only had a short time to see it . It's amazing ,the church is beautiful and full of Roman mosaics and frescos. Staff friendly & knowledgeable. Well worth a visit.
Catherine Jamieson — Google review
Italy is a country of historical beauties and this Cattedrale is undoubtedly one of them.
As soon as one enters the building is immediately overwhelmed by history: the view of the soffit and of the floors, covered by mosaics, is truly breathtaking.
When admiring this church you can “touch” the architectural, engineering and artistic ability of our ancestors: these treasures have withstood over a millennium (even more, when considering the original layers dating from B.C.).
The building basement is a surprise of mosaics and there it’s really astonishing how, through small tiles, those artists were able to depict amazing subjects, such as animals, faces and various objects.
Just a small suggestion: the descriptions of the mosaics made on the handrails, has it is done, is not a very clever solutions, since most of the writings have gone.
Rey Rey — Google review
Fantastic example of a large intact Roman mosaic tile floor. A must-see for Roman architecture enthusiasts.
Scott Eaton — Google review
This is an absolutely stunning g place to visit to see beautiful old mosaics from Roman times. Beautifully presented and explained
A V — Google review
Very cool to see. It was the biggest Roman city in the second centory. Almost unreal to walk on the same stones as they did.
Matthijs Tielens — Google review
The most important place on Aquilea. Take your time to appreciate the interior with the floor mosaics. When you are done, don't miss the cemetery behind the building.
Krzysztof F — Google review
I return here around three times a year. It never gets old (no pun intended). It IS magnificent and very old - amazing mosaics the likes of which will simply astound you. The scale of them can’t be described. I’ve added a very small sampling of which there are much more. It’s the oldest known Christian establishment that is mostly intact. Stunningly preserved - wonderfully displayed in its original state. Truly a must see if you are in the area.

Gorizia Castle, an impressive 11th-century structure perched on a hill, is a must-visit during your city tour. The castle houses the Museum of Medieval Gorizia, the Synagogue of 1756 with its Jewish history museum, and the Museum of the Great War in Casa Dornberg and Casa Tasso. Additionally, it's home to the Transalpina Station, historically significant as it marked the border between Italian and Slovenian areas.
A very beautiful place to go. Peaceful and relaxing day by walking through the castle.

Nice drive through Nova Gorica to reach the castle, free parking. Quiet and peaceful walk round the castle walls, great views
Anita Robinson — Google review
We came here walking from the railway station in Nova Gorica, where to we arrived from the lake Bled in Slovenia. The castle is currently closed, but the space around it is very tidy, and there is a big playground in the beginning of the walkind path near the big parking lot.
Julia Lukinova — Google review
Interesting location, nice museum, but not a single info in slovene language! Only in Italian and a few in explanations in German. A lot of Slovene tourist- border is few metres away - but NOT A SINGLE TOURIST INFO IN SLOVENE LANGUAGE! Shame on you! Same situation is in town in restaurants, churches... Completely devastated park-wood on "slovene-side" of castle hill (in the east part of hill). Main building and buildings on hill top are nice.
Vili Eržen — Google review
Wonderful castle just above Gorizia with a great park full of ancient trees.
K. Matthias Mäke-Kail — Google review
An adventure to history, worth visiting.
Sonja Leskovar — Google review
The castle itself is wonderful, but what concerns foreign tourists is very badly taken care off. The panels with information are only in Italian language, no Slovene or English languages, even though we're in a frontier city which is bilingual. On the Slovenian side all the things are written in Slovene, Italian and English languages. The tourist worker who showed us around the castle, spoke really poor English and almost no word in Slovene.
Sasa Plestenjak — Google review
Beautiful castle overlooking Gorizia and Slovenian side of Vipava Valley.

I was surprise that i could chilled there and slept for about 2h on the "liegenstuhl with sonnenschrim" without getting charged for the place.. It was so relaxing with the sound of the wave, summer Breeze & giggles from the kids who were playing there n having fun.it has beach sevice guys to control everything there or if u need help.
The beach is nice, clean, and even have closet room and shower. But the toilet was dirty and one of the cleaning service was so rude.

If you don't want to pay for deckchairs and a parasol on private pitches, you can still go to the beach, but parasols and any other means of getting shade (small tent for children) are prohibited. After paying €12 for the day for parking, there was no way to protect our children from the sun, completely AMAZING. We won't be back. Very disappointed.

Really nice and clean beach, the sand is soft it’s really spacious and it’s a safe place for kids to run around or to play next to the water

Perfect beach service all the time!
Really good maintain and clean, close to showers and toilets. Perfect to kids, who love to play on fine sand.

Spacious beaches with clean sand. Toilets, showers, clean environment. Although it is described as smoke free but everyone seems to ignore that rule. 🙂
Parco Zoo Punta Verde is a spacious park that houses a diverse range of animals, from antelopes to zebras. The zoo is well-maintained, with clean and ample living spaces for the animals. The overall atmosphere at the zoo is pleasant and inviting. However, visitors may note the absence of wild cats during their visit. Despite this, Parco Zoo Punta Verde makes for a great family outing destination, complete with playgrounds and dining options on-site.
Fun zoo! Lots of different animals and nice playground to let the kids play. Restaurant in the zoo is not great and expensive. Overall highly recommended this zoo. Kids will love it.
Alyssa Eilefson — Google review
Visited there today since it’s only 15 mins from our hotel :) 5 of us altogether paid 42€ (kids under 3 are free). We spent about 2.4-3hrs there. What we like about:
1) Clean, hygiene, well maintained
2) Varieties are in good range
3) Very friendly staffs
4) Really can see some nice animals (not empty cage always) which are living in nice environments. Staff are with nice hearted smiles when feeding the animals (not doing it as a job only), we feel very nice
5) Not crowded, easy indications, easy learning info board of each animals
6) Kids can play at the playground and pet some animals 🤩
Well worth to spend time there with kids! Our kids are super happy 😊
One star is missing :
1) maybe install some drinking fountains for kids/ visitors would be nice. Now is none.
2) Small stone paths… might be better to be another materials which would benefit for other visitors who has Kinderwagen
Amanda Li — Google review
Very neat zoo, the animals are clean, have enough space for living.
The atmosphere is very nice in this zoo.
Alexandra Voropai — Google review
I have to admit that I have remained astonished by this Zoo. A lot of variety of species and all of them looking really good. My kids were very happy watching the giraffe, the lions, the tigers as well as all the other exotic animals that you usually see on documentaries in the TV.
We have had a really great time while visiting this Zoo.
Very recommended

🌟 A Captivating, Uncommercialized Zoo Experience! 🐾🌿
This zoo is a marvel! The habitats are incredible, and the animals are clearly well-cared for. The educational exhibits are engaging, and the staff's dedication to conservation is evident. 🦋📚 The interactive experiences are unforgettable. Plus, the souvenir shop offers a unique touch with plushies made from recycled materials. ♻️ It's great that it's not commercial in a sense that there are not vending machines every 5 feet. With a visit lasting around 3 hours, it's a must-see for nature enthusiasts and families! 🦁🐼🌳

Nice zoo but we could not see wild cats...
Otherwise it is a nice place for a family afternoon. 🙂
Gabi Nagy — Google review
Really nice ZOO.
Atmosphere is the best part of ZOO, you don't feel that animals are in cages...very good design hides feelings that animals are prisoners...congratulations for design.
At the end we drunk good italian coffe.
Grazie Parco Zoo Punta Verde!!!
Ci vediamo.

It is strange arangement plant trees right in front off windows through which visitors are supposed to observe animals. It is pretty nice place, but you don't see many animals. I think, it is not worth the money.
Vladim?r Nov?k — Google review
This is a nice zoo, very clean and organized. There is a big free parking nearby. The zoo entrance fee is 18 euros for adults and 14 for children aged 11 or under. The animals look healthy and having clean environment. But compared to other zoos, there are fewer animals. Also, it would be nice to have more English translations.
Cosmin Vacarescu — Google review
It's really good for knowing Nature and animals..this place is very wide and clean... animals are also clean and healthy...also sitting area is available inside the zoo... every animal has own separated area.. it's really good for children and adults..well designed..
Baljeet Multani — Google review
In addition to swimming, we made a trip to this zoo and were pleasantly surprised. The zoo was beautifully arranged, the animals looked healthy and that it was well taken care of. We also liked the information about the animals and their activities to save the world's endangered animals
Samuel Raškovič — Google review
The Parco Zoo is a nice zoo with lots of different animals to see. 👍
Hausi — Google review
Great for smaller children. When we visited the zoo with our 2 year old it was really hot. However the trees at the park stiIl provided enouh shade that we could see everything. It took us around 2 hours to go around so the zoo is not too beg yet it has great veriety of animals. It also has enough picninc areas and playground partly in the shade so we could really enjoy it. Would definetly recommend if you are passing by or in the area. One thing that it made it really great was that children can feed the goats and they really enjoy it.
Pika Žvan — Google review
18€ adult, 14€ bambini >3 yrs (find that a little much). But all in all that is a really nice zoo with lots of parking space, several benches for a short rest, playground and cafe. We saw many animals. It was enough but not too much, not overcrowded with people and generally very clean.

Lake Bled is a stunningly beautiful scenic lake surrounded by mountains and forest, with an island that houses a historic church. The greatest attraction of the lake is its exquisite blue-green color. Mild thermal springs warm the water to a swimmable 22C (72F) from June through August. There are numerous places to rent boats, paddle boards, and take photos of the lake from all around.
Stunning place with a fair bit to do, close to lots of activities as well. Row a boat out, do some swimming, rent a bike and travel out, eat some food and relax, a lovely place to spend a couple of days.
S B — Google review
This is an exceptional art of the nature for sure. It is good that I went there during winter because in summer it is packed. Take the small boat to the island and enjoy every moment whilst you are there.
Mustafa Arikan — Google review
A wonderful place, a fairytale.
If you are in Slovenia or somewhere near, you should go there. Beautiful lake, nice castle and in the middle of the lake you have the only isle that Slovenia has. Only one but magical.
Vasile Curosu — Google review
Beautiful scenery, lovely boat ride, nice little wander. We arrived early around 0900 and was much better for photos and for the heat, when we were leaving around 1300 it was much busier and very humid.
Hannah Gallimore — Google review
Truly one of my favorite places in Slovenia. You need to take the boat to go to the island. It's a wooden boat driven by man power. You just sit there and enjoy the view and the moment. The island is delightful. The church (one of 3000 in Slovenia) is beautiful and if you ring the church bell you get your wish. You can also go the the Church Tower that I skipped as I have a fear of height, my friends did and loved the view. The ice-cream shop has a great selection and I loved the raspberry cheesecake brand.
Truly a must visit

Beautiful lake with amazing blue water. Rather smaller but still fascinating. We have visited it during early spring time with nice sunny weather which was added value. The little island in the middle is very picturesque and ideal for making photos. The best view is from higher point. Recommended.
Katka I. (Kappa) — Google review
As majestic and beautiful as it is down in the pictures! This is our second trip and our timing could not have been better! No tourists, no crowds! We visited on a Sunday in February, streets were empty but boats to the island and all attractions were open. Weather was very nice! We enjoyed a great quiet walk all around the lake of 6km path. We took the Pletna to the island, had coffee there, walked around and enjoyed the magnificent scenery! A beautiful and a must see attraction if you have never been. Even in the winter, it is beautiful!
Elena — Google review
Gorgeous place. Do note that in order to get to the house on the hill, you either need to hike 15 min, walk up the road or take a buggy. The buggy is expensive, so do bring sturdy shoes if you plan you walk all the way up.
Aiman Syed — Google review
Nice scenery but very overrated compared to other lakes . The gondola ride to the island is super expensive ($18 per person ). Better to rent the boat yourself but be careful to not go close to these gondolas as they are ready to charge your 100 euros if you even touch them . The island is nice but again overpriced for a small church with wishing bell and a small bell tower . The bled fort is also overrated .
MK Krish — Google review
Life goal retire here. Reminds me of my grandfather’s cabin in the mountains of New York, USA. Ah it was so beautiful. Water really is a blue green color. It’s not camera filtering trick in photos. And you can see straight through it a good 4ft deep. Absolutely amazing scenery. Must visit the island and get ice cream and take photos.
William Reith — Google review
Beautiful lake with a castle (church) at the middle.
There are few beaches around the lake, and you can even rent a Sap, or small boats and reach the castle's island at the middle.
You should really visit this amazing place.
Eylon Shmilovich — Google review
Looks like something out of a fairy tale and is in a very serene setting. It obviously is is a popular vacation destination by virtue of all the nice lodging going around the lake. There is a trail around the lake, but we chose to take a boat to the island, then hike up to the castle. But it into a very big lake and there were people walking and biking around at a leisurely pace. It is every bit as beautiful as all the pictures you have probably seen.

A must visit place. It has a spectacular panoramic view of the lake with the icy mountain background. A walk around the lake will make you feel very great. Overall has a breathtaking view and "A Walk To Remember".

A very picturesque place. You can either go round the lake by foot or car. You need to be there to submerge in its beauty. However you need to park a distance in one of those public carparks.

Such a beautiful lake, with an amazing little island which needs to be visited... ideally hire a rowing boat and go and ring the bell in the church on the island... and don't forget to make a wish. Its such a magical experience.

Obligatory to see during visit in Slovenia. Great views, especially from castle level. I takes around 1.5 hours (6 km) to walk around the lake and take some pictures.

Its beauty absolutely blew me away. I should have come 10 years ago if I knew I would experience anything like that. The views from the castle were good. However, you should take fairytale pictures from the boardwalk near the Olympic Rowling Training ground.

Photos and videos taken in May 2023. I took a bus from Ljubljana to Bled. The bus ticket was so cheap during the weekend. I bought it from bus ticket office in Ljubljana and paid €2.20 (included 60 cents processing fee). Bus ticket from Bled to Ljubljana was €1.60, bought directly from the driver.
It was raining when I arrived at Bled. Eventhough my pants and shoes were wet from the rain, I was very happy that I visited Bled, beautiful lake with amazing mountains view.
Bled Castle is a medieval castle located on an island in Lake Bled, Slovenia. The castle was first mentioned in 1011 as Castellum Veldes and has been rebuilt and restored multiple times over the centuries. Today it is a tourist destination with a museum, restaurant, and wine cellar.
There is an exceptional view over the lake Bled from this castle. I highly recommend to go there if you visit the lake Bled.
There is a road which you can go by car to the castle. But the parking lots are limited. We visited the castle in April and we were lucky to find a parking lot. I think during the summer, it will be very difficult to find places to park the cars.
There is high slip to reach to the castle.
The castle has an entrance fee. The entrance fee for adults is 12 Euros and for seniors and students are cheaper (I think 9 Euros).
There is a honey 🍯 shop. I strongly recommend you to visit the shop. You can find honey with different tastes and flavors.

Castle of Bled is one of the most beautiful place in the world.
You can park near the castle with car, but rarely you can find parking place, because there are usually a lot of people. The other way to come by walk and park near the lake, it’s not so easy too, but fortunately we found a parking place.
The castle is on the top of the hill. You can buy the ticket near the entrance. You can drink coffee or eat something inside the castle, if you want and of course you can buy some gifts in the shop. The view is amazing nice from the castle wall and from bastion. Definitely worth to visit :)

Awesome castle with incredible views of the surrounding and lake Bled below. Highly recommend to start at the bottom on lake Bled with a water activity (Boat or kayak) and then come up to Bled castle to see the view . You can spend quite some time learning about the local history as well as there is a small museum of sorts. Very cool activity and place to visit
Thomas Coetzee — Google review
Beautiful castle, great and informative museum with a varied exposition ranging from ancient history, geology and fossils to medieval artifacts. Breathtaking views. The walk to the castle was steep but short on mud and stairs. Entrance 15 euro per adult.
The long coffee at the small coffee shop was not good, pretty watery and served in a paper cup.
Thomas De Coo — Google review
The Castle is a bit of a hike up the hill, but once you get up there you will get some amazing views of the lake. You get the best views of the entire lake, the island and the surrounding mountains providing all the instagram shots. There is a cafe if you need a drink or something to eat as well.
johnsko Johns — Google review
Very nice and historic castle with unique position. However the magnificent view on lake Bled is the only positive thing you can get for the entrance ticket to castle area. Asking 17 euros for adult is too much for offering so little... Also parking space below castle is expensive with 3 euros per hour. I guess that this place became too commercial.

We had a wonderful time here! The place is not incredibly large, but you cn spend a lot of time. The view is great, you can serve food or just an espresso with some cake. Definitely worth visiting so give yourself some hours to really take in what the castle has to offer.

What a magical place !!! The trek up to this castle is totally worth it for the stunning views of the lake bled you get to see. It's a must visit and if you are not willing to walk uphill it is accessible by car. There is an entrance fee to get in but trust me the views alone are priceless. There is this sweet souvenir shop where they print your name on handmade papers. If not to buy its a cool store to visit.

Amazing views of Bled from all directions when inside the castle. There was only a small line to get in when I went on a weekend in March. Tickets were 11 euro for a student which is fair in my opinion. Parts of the castle that you should definitely make time to stop in to include the cafe (amazing views if you get a good table by the walls, and good to try the traditional Bled cream cake, which is around six euro), the printing press (you can get custom printed items from an old style printing press, like magnets, bookmarks, pictures etc. on home crafted paper), and the upper walkway for amazing views of both the inside of the castle, and of the town and mountains next to the castle through the windows and viewing ports. There is also a gift shop, chapel, small museum, and toilets available in here.

Beautiful place in every season.
I visited here in winter (End of Feb)
Pros: No crowded, Private
Cons: There is no boat to go to the church
The castle has a museum inside which full of historical stuff. Had so much fun around.
Recommend to walking up there to warm your body up also seeing views along the way

Such a magical location with an absolute stunning view from all sides! Blue waters, green forest, small pretty island, castle on top of the cliff, beautiful church emerging from the green.. you cannot get more than this! Pictures cannot properly show how beautiful the lake is, if you are thinking of traveling there, just go for it and enjoy the view!

How can you not visit here...? One of the most famous castles in Europe, and for sure Slovenia! Perched way up on the hill overlooking the lake, it is amazing. The exibits are really neat to see and incorporated into the actual location which is super cool. Very nice restaurants and snacks await you up top while you look out over the lake at an incredible view!

Came here at the end of the peak season. No waiting, very little people in the castle in the afternoon past 15:00. Wonderful views of the lake from the top. Plenty of parking along the way to the castle. Dog friendly, however they can't enter the inside of the castle but can stay around the restaurant.

We chose to drive up in a car hire and park just below the castle. There were a few spaces and reasonable pay and display prices. There is a nice small coffee bar right on the edge of the castle in the courtyard with the amazing views. Quite expensive for a lemonade but you’re paying for the view which we felt was worth it. Worth asking for student discount even if you don’t have a student pass but are at school and over 14.

It's over priced and the staff isn't really kind, they were rude with us, compared with the Ljubljana Castle which is much better and costs 50% less. The view is beautiful but only a few things to see in the castle. There are many nice Castles around Slovenia which worth to see and costs much less!

One of the main attractions in Ljubljana that cannot be missed. There are multiple walkways up to the castle from the old town through the forest. Alternatively there is a funicular or also parking spots available right at the castle gates. Castle courtyard and the restaurants can be accessed without the ticket. Only necessary for the tower platform and the museum. View from the tower is worth the climb up, as you'll get a 360 degree view of the city. Also the snowy mountains in the distance are visible at good weather. The castle itself is very modern renovated, so don't expect a medieval vibe there. Some good restaurants and wine bars located in the castle, as well as some photo galleries.

Fantastic spot, free parking, you can drink some wine in the wine cellar, fantastic views of the lake. Very fun to walk along the various floors and passageways. Not a huge castle, maybe an hour's worth of entertainment. Great museum and a small, functioning, old-fashioned print shop

Oldest castle in Slovenia. It was built in 1011 and that's only a reason to visit. It is well preserved and most part can be visited. Two rooms served a museum with exhibits and one a a gallery featuring local artists. One room is dedicated to printing with a replica of Gutenberg wooden press.
Great views of the lake bled and the island. There is a restaurant where you can sit and enjoy the view

Always wanted to go here. Best moment of my life. The stairs to the top had me breathing like a pregnant cow but it was worth it. There are however, other options to get to the top so you can explore that. You need tickets (which are affordable) to get in and there have audio guide qr codes throughout the castle to help you listen on your phone. An awesome way to wrap my year!

Awesome place!
I like how it's looks now, super accurate and cleaned, and people taking care of the castle. It's respectful!
Here is the perfect view on a lake, mountains, and villages around.
Nature makes it unbelievable!
Also here is a small cafe on a territory with good coffee and an amazing view. And a big restaurant inside the castle.
Good and clean toilets and whole territory.
The Soteska Vintgar, discovered in 1891, is a popular tourist attraction located about 4km northwest of Bled village. It features a wooden walkway that spans over the Radovna river for almost a mile and provides breathtaking views of rapids, waterfalls, and pools. The highlight of the gorge is the 16m-high Sum Waterfall.
We visited on their 1st day of reopening, April 16. Unfortunately due to construction, a few roads are closed so it is emphasized that you should take bikes or walk. We hired a local shuttle to take us there and back to Lake Bled. When we arrived at the entrance, we saw 15-20 cars had taken the same side route that we did to the main parking lot by the entrance. If you get there early, you may get lucky and a parking spot. Otherwise, I’d listen to their recommendation and take a shuttle, bike, or walk there.
The gorge is well worth the visit. It took 45 min with two kids (8 & 6) to walk through. Pictures don’t do it justice. The kids really enjoyed the walk and it’s very safe and easy to do.
At the end of the one way hike, you need to take a hike back to the entrance (min 45 min back), unless you took a shuttle. We took a shuttle and the pickup point was about 10 min past St Katherine church.
Highly recommend doing this trip if you are staying in Lake Bled - even though it isn’t as easy as when you can simply drive your own car there.

I don't think pictures or words can describe the beauty of this place. It's just amazing. It's a great place to spend a few hours in the nature, to just relax and enjoy the sound of the river. Notice that the starting path is a one way travel. To return to the parking spot, you have several options. We chose the red path, which is a 45 minutes walk through the forest. This was also a really nice activity.
Cosmin Vacarescu — Google review
We went there with friends and kids. It was november and after rains. Few days ago we visited Tolminska korita which had bigger wow effect on us. This is nice walk but not worth 40 eur, incl. Parking. We used the red path on the way back via Blejska dubrava. It is a regular walk through forrests, nothing spectacular. There is a nice bridge and waterfall at the end of george but that is all. Also the parking was quite chaotic. I have a feeling this is a tax for being close to Bled.
Lukas Motovsky — Google review
Located just a few kilometers from Lake Bled, the gorge features a stunning landscape carved by the Radovna River over millennia, with dramatic cliffs, waterfalls, and crystal-clear water.
It is around 1.6 kilometers long and is known for its wooden walkways that wind alongside the river, providing a safe and accessible path through the gorge. As you walk along the trail, you'll encounter picturesque views of the rushing Radovna River, cascading waterfalls, and natural pools.
One of the highlights of the gorge is the 13-meter Šum Waterfall at the end of the trail. The waterfall is a beautiful sight and a great spot to take photos. Throughout the walk, you'll also encounter small bridges and viewing platforms that offer different perspectives of the gorge.
It offers a serene and picturesque experience away from the bustle of Lake Bled. The trail is well-maintained, making it suitable for visitors of all ages and fitness levels.
Y. T. Nixon Tan — Google review
Ridiculously beautiful walk along the river showing nature at her best with running water, waterfalls, moss, a variety of flowers and clean fresh air. The walk is fairly easy and not far. Worth noting however that it is a one way trip and that you are either going to do a 45 minute. Modernate walk back (which is also gorgeous as the path we took had views of the city Bled and fields of cows) or you are going to pay for a taxi. Best come prepared for a longer hike.
Eden Theron — Google review
Very beautiful trail, well maintained and absolutely worth the few coins. One small thing that we would have liked to know up front is, that it's only a one way trip. So you walk a beautiful gorge trail made of wood pathways on the cliff side, just to walk back via a random trail and road which isn't all that beautiful. There is an opportunity to take a transit back to where you started the gorge but we did not take it.
We had a really good time enjoying the beauty of the gorge.

Everything it advertises and more. This Stunning piece of nature is a must see when going to Slovenia. It's a paid entry but I get why the route is clean and well maintained. You have to pick a time slot so that it doesn't get crowded and that seems to work! Nice views and you have a mixture of sun and shade, ideal for warmer days where you will appreciate the spray from the falls

Very beautiful place. Must visit if you are nearby. It takes about 2 hours to walk red (shorter) route. We had P1 parking, which is near entrance. It's quite small so in weekends and holiday season P3 is recommended.

Very nice distress. Tickets can be bought online or on the spot. It's more convenient online. parking is available before the rush hour. The walk is not very difficult, also suitable for families with children. it is possible to return via two circuits. It is beautiful.
Marek Šolc — Google review
It's worth a look, not sure about good value for a family. I can see the costs that they have so it could be fair price but seems a little high as a family. The path is fairly tight so you can't feel like you can stop and people who are constantly stopping especially on the bridges are blocking the way for others etc. Everyone was polite but it does take away from the experience, then you add hard hats and brisk staff.. I'd probably preference a less popular hike in the beauty which really is abundant in the area next time.

A must do attraction!!
We visted the gorge at the end of April 2022 and thought it was the perfect start to our trip to Slovenia. The gorge is breathtaking with the boardwalk taking you right over the crystal clear water. We then crossed the river and returned via a trail on the West side of the gorge, taking around 90-120mins in total. Highly recommend this site.
Benjamin Moye — Google review
Beautiful walk in nature for 2-3 hours. We did it right after the rainfall so the water was wilder than normal. Put on decent shoes (sneakers will do, but no flip flops). There is a place where you can drink halfway. Two options will lead you back to the entrance. Option 1 is shorter (2.7km) and faster, but has more elevation, including various stairs. Option 2 is 4.1km, and easier to do. The down side of Option 2 is that it will take longer. Since it is close to Lake Bled, the combination of both on one day, works very well.
Hubert B. — Google review
10€ each and another 10€ to park. Not worth 30€. The gorge is beautiful, but considering it's not that long and it's only one way so you have to walk a different way back. It just isn't a good value. Lots of other beautiful hikes in the area that are free.
Eric Scott — Google review
A most beautiful canyon and lovely hike along it. It's one way only (down the river), thus going back requires going uphill along different route. About 2-3 hours all together

This place is definitely worth a visit , a wonderful walk around all the waterfalls and mountains. The views were breathtaking. Took about an hour to do the walk was totally amazing and definitely worth it. Not to be mossed

A breathtaking, must visit place in all seasons. Since it is one of Slovenia’s most popular attraction is does get very busy. If you really want to enjoy your time in the Vintgar Gorge it is recommended to get there either right after opening or about 2 hours before closing. Avoid weekends and holidays, if you can. When I say it does get busy I mean it! The gorge is one-way. On the way back to the parking lot take the green trail. It’s a bit longer than the red one, but the view is well worth the extra steps! Enjoy!
Tamás Fekete — Google review
The natural beauty of this place is simply brilliant. Visiting in September was a great decision; while the car park was bustling, we had a serene walk through the gorge with no crowd hassles. Getting tickets at the main entrance was a breeze.
It will take you around 2-3 hours to the whole round trip as the actual gorge is on a one way system. I highly recommend following the green route to get back to the car park. It includes some nice views and grazing cows, sheep and horses.
For prices: parking was €10 and entry is €10 per person. If the main area is full, there is also a extended car park accessible by a free shuttle bus that I believe comes every 20 min.
Richard — Google review
The gorge is beautiful, everyone should see it in person. You can walk with your dog on a lead. The green trail back to the entrance has a very nice view.

Beautiful walk through the gorge and return. The trail has just opened for the season and some of the “King of the Alps” return trail signs are a little difficult to follow
Matthew Shepherd — Google review
Beautiful gorge with expensive parking, 10€.
Be aware, that the gorge boardwalk is one way. You have to hike back to the parking lot over half an hour. There is a shuttle option, but the hike back is not so hard. There are at the end to nice location to rest. One directly at the end of the gorge's boardwalk and one 10 min walk away.
Hans Gruber — Google review
Now this is a place one definitely needs to be well aware of the details n route. 1. The tickets and walkway along the Gorge is ONLY ONE WAY. at the end of the Gorge one has to Trek back from a long circuitous route through forest. Pleasent and enjoyable only if one is prepared for the 4.5 km trek.

BUY ONLINE TICKETS IN ADVANCE! That's the best tip I can give you in case you don't want to spend an hour in the line. Also, arrive as early as possible. We were there at 9:30 and there was already a lot of people. Still, it was super worth it! Also: bring hiking shoes and know that you might get a bit wet (it's not that bad). Totally worth it to pay it a visit!

Villa Manin is a grand 17th-century estate that once served as a military headquarters for Napoleon and now welcomes visitors for guided tours. Located near Codroipo in the plains bordering Pordenone province, it is Friuli's largest palazzo. Lovely place to chill and relax. The car parking to the lakes for the day cost €5 .. you can take your dogs and picnics with you. They have done nice benches to seat and enjoy the scenery.
If you need toilets they have some public portaloo toilets otherwise you can use the ones at the private places like restaurants. The lakes are walking distance. You can drive or arrive by bus but not sure how often is the bus to this place. They have a mini market inside where you can buy local cheese, salami, bread honey etc

The position of the hotel is in an excellent place. In Nassfield Valley. Directly across the road is the starting gondola that takes you to the top of the mountain. The hotel has a rental shop and a sports shop if you forgot to buy something. As for the rooms, they are comfortable, clean and spacious for 3 people. Each room has a vestibule which is actually a ski room where you can leave your gear. There are heaters for pancers, which is super appreciated. There is no separate ski room within the hotel. The food is correct, a good selection. They clean the rooms and change the towels every day. The pool could be a little warmer. The complaint is that there are no massagers in the pool, which means a lot after hard skiing. I recommend the hotel for families with children, it has a lot of facilities, it is very interesting that there is an artificial rock for climbing. You can get climbing equipment at the reception. I would come back to this hotel again.

We spent one week in January 2024 in hotel, we were also in this hotel year before. Position of hotel is great, near Millennium gondola, rooms are specious in front of the room is small room where you can leave your ski equipment, bags, jacket...
Nassfeld has a good conection to the highway so the trip is in general very relaxing.
This year we were unpleasantly suprised by the quality of food. The dinner was horrible. It consisted mostly of food which was bought in some supermarket and prepared in microwave. It was lacking both meat and vegetable. Chicken was prepared with some sweet or sour sauce, who is not a fan of taste could not eat it. Other type of meet was too hard to chew. Vegetable was every evening the same. Pasta was terrible also. For example appetizer was prepared from leftovers from breakfast, they used croissant which were filled with something. Desserts were always dumplings and cakes which were made from mascarpone cheese. Breakfast was a little bit better but always the same, eggs were almost always cold and it was lacking variety.
Regarding the cleaning it could be improved a lot of dust and spiderweb in room and hall.
Pool was average, nothing special. Hall was missing a carpet, my wife felt when she entered the hotel in ski boots, same happened to other guest because of same reason.
In general 3 star hotel, bad food, too expensive.

Max 3 star hotel.
Rooms are terrible. Extra small and no bathroom. Just separate toalet, separate shower and sink in the room with skis, where people can see you from the hallway.
Also other things:
Tv has limited channels and locked HDMI so you can not connect your reciever.
Wifi extra slow. Only round 1,7Mbit/s
Furniture basic like in Hostels.
Walls and ceilings just concrete painted.
Reception is great, climbing wall, playground, etc is great.
Also no bottled water, no caffe, no minibar,… for the price of 5* hotel you get good hotel with Hostel style room.

Crystal have been given this feedback in March 2023.
So the hotel......
We upgraded to a family room, a king size bed and a small wall separating the smaller bed. This room worked for us as a family of 3, not sure if 4 people would have been that great. Bathroom large and shower powerful.
You'll get your own ski locker area, again worked great for us.
Self serving food section for breakfast and dinner excellent, most nights the service for drinks was great. Austrias/locals in our opinion were given priority.
The main ski lift is minutes away.
Would highly recommend the hotel.

Ofcourse it is also prepared for the winter season and you have a place for ski too. Been a great experience and i am looking forward to visit again.

Big ski area, ski slopes for everyone, good connection between the slopes and lifts/cable cars, high enough for spring skiing.

Fluxisch YouTube — Google review
Total disappointment. Not a single slope was prepared at 9 o'clock in the morning. In 30 years of skiing, I have never experienced this, especially since the weather conditions were perfect days before, without precipitation. I was at that ski resort for the first time, and definitely the last. They can be ashamed considering that the price of the ski pass is not low at all. We are not talking about a small local ski slope, but about a famous ski resort. I give two stars only because the ski slopes have a lot of potential and the nature is beautiful, otherwise there would be zero stars.
Lidija — Google review
Incredible, how huge can a ski resort be. We went just right and right on the lifts for the whole half day, and we dod not try all of the lifts and slopes by far. Like a Disneyland of ski resorts, you’ll need at least two days to discover this place properly.
Loved also the nice, tended to slopes, though in spring, warm sun made it incredibly hard to ski down as there were loads of bumps and heavy snow. Still, a luxury resort worth visiting.
&Tilly [andtillycom] — Google review
WORST ski resort I have been to in my life!!! The snow on the slopes is horrible from 9am, nothing is well connected, ski map has so many mistakes, 50% of the blue slopes are red. Never ever ever coming back.
Anna Valentina Murković — Google review
Very poorly prepared slopes which is dissapointing considering the price of the tickets. Many slopes are badly connected and lacking in signage. One of the least enjoyable Austrian ski areas I have visited in my long skiing experiences.
Ranka Grgic — Google review
A very famous ski resort in Europe, thus expect lots of tourists during weekends and vacation. It's very pricy for accommodation and food in the restaurants just due to its name. Quality of course doesn't keep up with either name or price.
The slopes are all well prepared and broad. The length is short though, on average it's a beginner's resort in terms of slope difficulty. Only about 3 pistes are a bit more demanding (7er). Nevertheless recommendable.
Keep in mind this is an artificial tourist village only built for skiing during winter. In summer 90% of the village are usually closed.
The second ride had a feeling of a free fall the first few seconds, the rest was just awesome. Not a usual zip line where you wear a helmet and hold to the ropes. Very safe and well managed.

One of a kind experience, safe and fast, highly recommended! Disclaimer; the staff expects you to put on your own straps, which is obviously doable, but for first timers, it would be nice to receive the staff’s closer attention.

Nothing to complain about. Friendly staff, wonderful experience...just do it! 4 people can go at the same time and if you're in the vicinity, do try and check the availability in person, ignore the weather forecast or the website info. Maybe the waiting line was a bit bigger...I waited like 30m after I got equipped to actually ride and like another 30m for the coaster (but that is to be expected I guess). Also try the zip line + coaster...they go well together.

Cool experience!! Real adrenaline rush, thank you!! Downstairs staff came across as extremely bored and unpatient, maybe they should be allowed to swap with top staff sometimes, those were super happy. Toilettes disgusting but good they have them

Amazing experience. On two stages and top speed on second stage can reach 120 kmh.
The team is very kind and supportive. They guide you in each step and ensure everything is safe.
Make sure you book online before you visit.
The Salzwelten Hallstatt is a salt mine museum located above the town of Hallstatt. It is known for its educational exhibits, including information about how salt is formed and the history of mining. The mine has deep shafts that date back to the Bronze Age, making them among the oldest in the world. Visitors can take a bilingual tour that goes into detail about these topics and even includes a ride on miners' slides, with one slide being 60m long.
I really enjoyed the museum and the tour of the salt mine. It was very informative and there's a lot to see inside. It's supposed to be the oldest salt mine in the world and the tour goes through all its history, from ancient times to modern days.
The slides and the short train ride are a nice touch and everyone has fun using them.

When visiting upper Austria and the lake Hallstatt area, this is a must do activity, visiting the oldest active salt mine in the world. The tour through is a great experience.
While waiting for the tour to start there is a cafe (snacks/finger food too) and bathroom in the building. The tour guide is friendly and is done in both German and English when going through. They are very knowledgeable as they explain about the salt mine, the mining process and it's history. There are a number of interactive visual experiences as you go through. It's really a well maintained and clean experience.
Take some warm clothes with you, you are given overalls to wear over your clothes, and a free locker to leave your belongings in before you enter the mine. Inside the mine was about 8 degrees Celsius.
We went as a family of 4 with 2 young kids 4 and 5, and they enjoyed it too. There are a couple slides and a train ride to finish it off.

Beautiful place. It’s a unesco world heritage site! Amazing 7000 year history of salt mining. Superb views from the top! The guides are amazing and so are the ways that the miners used to travel! Slides and trains!! The story told by the guides are amazing and very involved! The value for money the attraction provides is amazing! Must visit. Do not miss. If you go ins summer, you will have a lovey route to walk up as well. In the winters the funicular is great and provides the best views too!

Nice place! We did a tour and it was cool! There is not a lot of stuff to see, but the guide was very friendly and the slides were amazing. 😊 Definitely something you can do as a family. Also the views are superb! 🥰

Very particular place, standing on top of a hill, reachable via funicular (cost of the funicular and salt mine entrance = 36). There is a parking nearby the funicular Station. The tour of the mine takes 2 hrs. Better to go early, since there is always a queue. You are provided of special clothes to dress on top of yours. Then there is a walk to get into the tunnels and the caves areas, where a guide shows you how the salt is extracted. In a dedicated section a movie shows how in the prehistoric eve the salt was extracted. There are then two slides very funny to move from one area to another. Finally a train brings you back to the starting point. Highly recommended.

You need to take the cable car up here, otherwise it's a one hour up hill hike. At the time of writing (June 2023), the combined cable car and salt mine tour ticket costs EUR 40. I'd say in total we spent about 3 hours total for the mine and the viewing platform. The cable car takes you up hill to where the Hallstatt skywalk viewing platform is. There is also a restaurant and toilets there. From there to get to the mine you need to walk maybe 10 or 15 minutes up hill, a large part of it was very steep, I think it will be very very challenging if mobility is an issue.
The nearest car park is car park #2 and its a 5 min walk to the cable car station. We didn't prebook tickets because we had read online that car park #2 gets full easily and were worried that we wouldn't be able to find parking in time. In the end we arrived around 10am on a Friday and managed to find parking easily and only then bought tickets for the cable car and mine. Not sure what it's like on weekends.
The view from the skywalk viewing platform was pretty, although I don't think I'd say it's unmissable nor must see. Take a look at the photos below and decide for yourself. The platform is quite small and can get very busy as everyone is trying to take pictures from one single spot.
The visit to the mine a guided tour with two short slide rides. There is also a short mine train ride on the way out. The children will loved it. The tour itself consists mainly of a few videos telling you about the history of the mine. I like history so I found it quite interesting. Despite this I don't think I'd say that the salt mine is an unmissable attraction when visiting hallstatt.

Amazing and unique experience. Good guided tour. But there are lot of improvements to be made. There is about 600-800 meters uphill walk after the funicular, which is difficult for small children and elderly. Walking back and forth takes a lot of time and thus very less time and energy is left for enjoy the view at Welterbeblick. Secondly, there are lot of screens and visuals. Which is good in one aspect, but they should focus more on showing more real stuff, as it is the oldest operational salt mine.

Best day ever, unforgettable experience. We had so much fun make sure to arrive max 10 am to avoid waiting in lines. You will spend 1 hour and half there and you will enjoy the 2 slides and the train ride. Unforgettable day. We paid 40 euro with funicular ride well worth the price. It was very cold inside make sure to take your jacket with you or wear it under the costume. It was -10 degree in July. Very nice experience

My family came here a couple years ago and really enjoyed our tour. It's a bit of a trek up the hill to get to the entrance.
Because the tour goes pretty deep into caves they supply coveralls for everyone due to the cold. Once the tour started we got lots of information on the salt mine history. There are a couple slides to go down that bring you farther into the caves and then a train ride out. It was very cool!

We visit the mine with tour, and I really like the guide it was very cool. I enjoyed the museum part. This salt mine is the oldest mine in the word and I extremely enjoy the movies that they showed during the tour, which very informative and there's a lot to see inside. To use the slides and the short train ride are very fun.

In the beginning we thought not to go to the salt mine, because it did not sound very exciting. However, due to the cold weather we had in this day we decided to visit the mine, and it was a very good decision. The kids like it from the minute we entered the site. We got special white uniforms as the mine workers, and the tour was very interesting including a lot of explanations on the one side, and entertainment on the other side as movies and animations. We saw an underground, lake and cool demonstrations of many kinds of salts and minerals. We also used 2 nice slides inside the mine, and ended the tour on a fast adorable train.
There is a 15-20 min walking from the lift station to the mine which located in the top of the hill.

Pretty amazing experience. Very interesting history, I did not know before that salt mining goes back to 7000 BC in this area. Some good to know facts: the time you book online is the funicular ascent time, not the tour start. And you will not be allowed to take the funicular at an earlier time. So consider that. The tour goes pretty quickly I did not have time to listen to the audio guide. I am planning to listen tomorrow on my way to drive home.

It is worth paying €40 for the Kombi ticket, which includes a guided tour to the salt mine.
After the furnicular, plan another 10+ minutes of uphill walk to reach the meeting point for the guided tour.
During hot summer, bring additional warm jacket, as temperatures inside the salt mine are around 8°C.
The tour lasts 1h30min and is fun and informative, with a blend of action (slides and a train ride back to surface) and information (by tour guide and several places with videos in German with English subtitles).
You can pre-download their audio guide app on your phone, to get explanation in your language (the tour is only in German and English). You may also want to bring your own earphones to listen to the audio guide during the tour.

Simply superb experience. The salt mine visit is educative and very interesting. The 2 slides add a lot of fun. The guide is very informative. The movies and animations are all well done. The ride at the end is really well planned and comes at a time when fatigue starts to set in. Highly recommended for all ages.

Very interesting place that you don't see very often... It is worth visit from the very beginning - the funicular that takes you up to the altitude of 838 metres almost vertically, with amazing views over the lake and the village.
Inside the mine (that goes considerably higher than the funicular's end point) there are little trains and huge slides that allowed miners to move swiftly from one cave to the the next one. You're given old cloths to keep you protected from the salt. Some interesting information on the historic context of the mines.

This place is totally worth the visit. The views you see from the top are breathtaking.
I highly recommend the salt mine tour, but here are my pros/cons:
Pros:
1. The guides are knowledgeable and funny
2. It’s an extremely interesting place to see how salt was mined throughout history and how it forms
3. Suitable for all ages
Cons:
1. You sit and watch many videos throughout the tour about history/methods/info that I found to be too long and boring. The guide can just explain it without us having to sit and watch. There was about 3-4 videos, some are in German and only subtitled in english.
2. You wear the miners uniform which is nice, and keeps your clothes safe underneath, but if you’re wearing a long jacket it’s going to be really uncomfortable.
It took us 90 minutes almost to finish the tour, in my opinion it should take not more than an hour without the videos.

Salzwelten a must try attraction in Hallstatt, only 3h away from Vienna.
The weather is Hallstatt is variable so go prepared and check the forecast before going there, the drive from Vienna to Hallstatt is easy meanly true highway and last bit true the villages, really nice drive so a must try.
The salt mine experience is a super worth the money one so strong recommend it as is the world oldest salt mine as well! At the ends of the tour you will get the chance to try 3types of salt too and they will gift you a little salt container for each participant as well.

The experience was awesome and I learnt so much about salt mining. They provide the necessary clothing to go into the mine. We also get to play the mine slide which was extremely fun. The only problem was there was too much people in one tour, and the guide need to speak in both German and English, so it takes double the time. But it was during Christmas holiday so it’s understandable.

$40 euro per person for tram ride (to and fro) and salt mine. It’s worth the money for the views alone. It’s a bit of a walk from the tram to the mine so don’t expect to just be right there. There is so much to look at on the walk including the salt mummies they found there and a mini-temple to St. Barbara.
Fun fact. St. Barbara is the patron saint of miners. Her father beheaded her for being a Christian.
Once you get to the mine you stay in a waiting area until the next tour. Once the tour begins you go into an additional room where you put on your salt mining gear. There are lockers, free of charge. You walk through a photo history area before the tour officially begins. Once inside the mine, they provide a wealth of information in both English and German. There are two fun slides, the second of which a photo is taken. 5 mini films, a light show, salt tasting, and a train ride out.
My favorite part was the light show around the water- it’s very mind trippy. Doesn’t even look like water. A copy of your slide photo is 8 Euro, cash only.

Witness the magic of the Salzkammergut Alpine region on this Hallstatt tour! Hallstatt is considered Austria's best-kept secret and the "Pearl of the Salzkammergut". One of the most beautiful lakeside towns in the world, this town is picturesque and surrounded by majestic mountains. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has a population of only about 850 people. On this tour, you'll experience all that the town has to offer. Explore the Old Town and stop to visit the village's unique Beinhaus (House of Bones), a collection of 1,200 decorated human skulls. Admire the view of Mühlbach Waterfall and on the way there observe the colorful Baroque houses scattered on the mountainside. You can also go up the cliff and go to the World Heritage Observation Deck for a photo! If you want truly unreal views, then this tour is for you.

The whole experience in Hallstatt is ok except the only supermarket gave me a bad experience, the cashier in this store is racist especially towards Asian. Liechtensteinklamm is a stunning natural attraction in the Alps, characterized by its deep and narrow gorge, footpaths, bridges, river, and waterfall. It is only accessible during the summer months. The surrounding mountains offer various hiking opportunities for all levels of hikers. St. Johann im Pongau is a popular ski destination with several ski resorts in the area.
Great gorge with many interesting parts. There are tunnels, spiral stairs, a very cool waterfall in the end. Also we were here first in 2012 and came again 9 years later and a lot has changed and many parts added, which was a very pleasant surprise. So if you visited a few years back I'd still recommend to come back again.

I don’t even know where to begin. We learned about this place from a poster at the salt mines. We hadn’t planned on going and I’m so glad we did. The place is stunning. It’s definitely a workout, with lots of stairs and narrow passages but it’s like every turn there is a new, more beautiful photo opportunity. My girls were over the moon, my oldest wanted to take lots of pictures. It’s not a terribly long hike and there are lots of resting places along the way. If you are in the area don’t miss this one.

The place is very close to grossal. There is ample parking at the place and the staff was nice and friendly. I would just wish if they gave more information upfront like how big is the walk etc since we are with a toddler.
The rush of water can be heard and water is crystal clear. The areas can be wet and a bit dark so recommended to wear non slippery shoes.
Overall we enjoyed the place and was a good workout carrying the kid whole way and back.
Trip should last around 2 hours. You can take small picnic as there is a bench at the main waterfall

It’s a beautiful place for a beautiful short hike, there’s €10 entry fee and at the end of the hike you get to see this beautiful waterfall with chilled breeze making it worth all the time efforts. The tracks are a bit slippery so wear shoes accordingly and also the cave parts are dark even though the mobile lights are sufficient I would still advise to carry a torch. Totally worthy and instagrammable.

Edit: rating up to 4 because the company replied. It is definitely worth a visit!
Giving it a 3 because we pulled up right before 4pm. The website says last admission at 4pm, which means they let the last people in AT 4. The lady behind the ticket counter says the park closes at 4. We drove an hour to have to turn around and go back. We decided to return the next morning and it was a beautiful hike, just wish the website had been correct in their statement of closing time.

I would say it's a beautiful nature reserve, but these words don't do justice to this place..
It's a stunningly beautiful gorge with rushing powerful waterfalls. The trail itself is rather short, ~45min each direction (and don't forget the steep climb) that leads you to the base waterfall and back.
The views are out of this world: if rushing rivers, giant cliffs and huge waterfalls are your thing, do not miss this place!
Itay Shamir — Google review
Very scenic and pretty area, but do not expect a hike of any sorts. There is walking combined, but that’s just to get from the entrance to the bottom of the waterfall. There’s an entrance fee, so it’s not just an area out in the woods, where you can go for free.
Elian Eid Larsen — Google review
A place that you must definitely visit if you are in the area. The entrance fee is not very large and you will be treated with a unique and very scenic trip directly through the gorge via a series of walkways and tunnels. Every turn will open a new interesting view. The path is easily traversable even with a kid (but there are quite a few stairs, so be ready to carry them:-) But its probably best to visit without a dog

Tickets are €12 each and well worth the price. Bring a jacket because it gets a bit chilly when you’re in the shade. We brought a sack lunch and ate it at a picnic table by the waterfall. There are lots of stairs so it’s probably not a good idea for someone with bad knees. We very much enjoyed and it was the highlight of our time in Alpendorf! I highly reccomend.

Even though the ticketing process is painful, and we waited 35mins to get a ticket, it is worth the pain. The walk through the gorge is fun and spectacular, and the waterfall at the end of the public path is worth the walk. You can grab some great images along the way

Pretty cool and very easy to get to. The staircase might be difficult for some people, though.
The only reason it's not getting five stars is because it's not as majestic as many other places I've seen.

It's a great place to see. A lot of stairs but worth the effort. The views are amazing. Best to be here from the morning, then it is a little bit crowdy.
Jan Platoš — Google review
A little bit more difficult as the added staircase makes the journey more adventurous but at the same time - more physically challenging. Breathtaking views, sounds of the rushing water and colourful rock formations are a great way to spend about 1.5 h. Good facilities and parking.
Maija — Google review
This is a very popular gorge, and for good reasons. The second half of the "ride" it is breathtaking and the end of the trail offers a surprise which I won't spoil.
It's well maintained.
Definitely a must visit.
My 4 star choice was because of a combination of things:
- the first half is obstructed by wire nets.
- I feel that there's a needless set of long stairs and they could've carved an alternate route, it feels all this needless effort is for the circular stairs to be used. But here might be other factors at play why they chose to do this
- it feels like it needs more details along the way, like what rock layers can we notice, etc. or history(if it has). It's a little devoid of informational elements
- price. Admission is 12 euro. While not steep per se, you can definitely see they had a lot of work to do to make the gorge usable for tourism, the trail is not that long (not short either) and I was never a fan of setting higher prices to natural wonders that should be more accessible to everyone

Definitely worth doing. Views are amazing from the top. You can buy a one way ticket up and then walk down or buy a round trip. Walking down from the top takes about 3 hours depending on how fast you walk and how much you stop. We had to specify a time for the return but were able to change the time once we got to the top. At the very top is a cafe with outdoor seating. Great 360 views. There are a few pathways to walk around up top. Probably want to plan to spend time to walk around and take pictures or do some light hiking. For a weekday in peak summer it was crowded. Don’t have to buy tickets too far in advance but you might have to wait a couple train times if you do walk up in peak season.

The Schafberg Bahn offers an intriguing experience with a scenic trip, but it's advisable to avoid it during the summer. The cabins tend to heat up significantly, reaching uncomfortable temperatures over 40 degrees Celsius, especially since they are packed with passengers. The high price of 50 euros per person for this experience feels steep. However, the panoramic view from the top is breathtaking, featuring a 360-degree perspective. Additionally, there are two restaurants available for refreshment during your visit.

Nice experience in a slow-moving train with beautiful scenery along the way. The view at the peak is beautiful. A must-do activity if you are around the region. You won't regret it with the amazing scenery you get at the peak. It's quite pricey as it costs euro 47.6 per adult but it's worth it. Need to book the descending train slot when you buy the tickets.

Fun steam train ride of about 35 minutes with amazing views along the way. Our group road the train on a Monday around 11:30 am. We didn’t experience any issues, but the train was fully sold and completely full.
Recommend arriving early enough to be able to pick seats together (especially for larger groups). Also recommend being near the window when possible to get a breeze when it’s available. When our group went, the temperature outside was in the high 70s, but inside the train, it was significantly hotter. These trains have no air-conditioning and little circulation so be aware in the summer months.
Overall, the views were amazing, you won’t be disappointed.

Superb views , everything was run professionally and no issues at all with anything .
My suggestion is to make sure you book your tickets online beforehand like we did . For both up and down trips time to suit you.

Not for people with health conditions! I was excited to enjoy the view and was expecting that in 2023 society is inclusive and options are offered for visitors that have problems walking or hear problems etc , but I had to learn , just do not go up. I managed to get on the train, but to reach the hotel and restaurant on top , one has to walk ca 1/4 mile steep uphill. If you can not do it, there is really nothing you can enjoy at the train station on top…. Maybe the rest rooms 😢 … otherwise really no. Onside ration for the disabled . Should have read before , but pretty disappointing … enjoy other sides that carry for people that had surgery and can not walk an incline , but do not expect any help or provision … hope they wake up one day and think about society members in wheel chairs or otherwise challenged people … until then never again

It takes around 30 mins for one side. Vintage style travelling. Views around just keep getting better. Might be hard to climb in for people with some difficulty with legs. No arm chair support.
Note: you have to select boarding and returning time before hand. At the counter, they accept card payment too.
In all, if you can, don’t miss it.
There are eateries at the top. But carry some cash.

Schmittenhöhe, a year-round mountain resort established in 1927, provides visitors with easy access through multiple hiking trails or the cable car. The resort offers skiing, guided hikes and eateries to satisfy one's appetite. The panoramic view from the top of the mountain is absolutely stunning, overlooking the lake and village. Visitors can enjoy hiking along the Panorama route which guarantees an enjoyable tour for most.
Top beloved sightseeing place in Zell am See. Splendid! How wonderful is it to hiking on the top of mountain! We had great luck with nice weather and took the Panorama route to the top, it was nice and enjoyable tour that guarantee majority of visitors could have a great hike. Panoramic view down to the lake and village is absolutely gorgeous. Entry fee is a bit costly but it is worth after all.

It is one of the must visit mountains around Zell am See. We did paragliding here and it was awesome. You can look at the pictures to see a view. We visited in Summer time so it was nice view, but it can be great place to Skii as well. You need to take the ropeway to go up the hill, of course, you can walk, but can be tough.

Avoid this ski area in February if you're a good skier. Too crowded ski slopes with too many begginers. Better to skip this place and rather to ski in Saalbach area

A wonderful place to walk and explore. The map marker is in the wrong place but guess it won't affect too many using a car satnav but it is confusing for walkers.
The Königssee lake is a large, translucent body of water situated south of Berchtesgaden. It boasts stunning natural scenery, including steep mountain walls that enclose the lake's fjord-like depths. The lake is known for its exceptional purity, with drinkably clear waters that reflect emerald-green hues. Visitors have the opportunity to take a boat ride across the tranquil surface and explore two different routes around the area, each offering beautiful views and hiking opportunities.
This rift created during the ice age is a pleasure to watch. It is a must-visit place if you are in Germany. Rent the kayaking boat for an hour or two instead of a motorboat to explore the lake.

One of the best places for vacation. People can enjoy their holiday with family and friends. During summer time we can enjoy the sunshine and the gorgeous views. I will definitely go there again with my wife and kids.

Lovely lake and would enjoy it better when it’s sunny, can spend around 2-3 hours, you would get into a boat which cost around 22,50 euros per adult.
In the middle of the boat you can hear echo when it’s all silent and a trumpet is blown after that they drop you to a small island and can spend around 1-1.5 hours by taking a stroll or visiting a small church and can eat in the cafe
Virendra M Patil — Google review
Went early in the morning and bought a boat ticket at 14 euro. At that time, we were unable to alight at the church but nonetheless, the boat tour was amazing!
Especially when the boat went closer to the cliff and the staff blow the horn, which reverberated throughout the mountain and reflected back!

Absolutely gorgeous place, superb views of the mountains and lakes combined. There is a boat ride which will cost you 25 euro for adults and 12 euro for children. You can also carry your pet which will cost 4 euro but you have to put mask on the boat. There are some hotels available to stay near by lake and feel the peacefulness and natural beauty.

Gorgeous place. Make sure to take the boat ride. They play trumpet and it echoes with the structure of the mountains. Truly one of the most moving events I have witnessed. 100% recommend.

A must do if you stay in Salzburg take the one hour trip down. Taking the boat half way is good enough if you aren’t going to hike to the waterfall at the final stop and are on a time crunch. Lots of shops and places to eat but no grab and go options. Get there early or you will have a long wait to get on a boat especially if it’s a sunny day.

Good place. Travel from Bad Reichenhall to Königssee is mesmerizing. Do take bus from Bad Reichenhall for the best view.

No words to describe how beautiful it is. Take the boat to Salet. Walk over to Obersee, you can walk to the other side, but not suitable if you are not so mobile, as you have to hike / climb some "rock" stairs. It can be very slippery. It is about 40 min one way walk

Nice lake but very touristic and quite crowded on the weekend.
There are many stalls in which you can grab something to eat or drink. Many souvenir shops.
As we were traveling with a reactive dog, we didn't take a boat tour but rather walked around the lake.
Found a nice spot from which you could see the lake, but it wasn't the best view.

Eagle's Nest, Nazi mountain-top retreat now a restaurant with views, located near Berchtesgaden. The lodge is reached by special shuttle bus from the Kehlsteinhaus bus station and can only be visited by those with a valid tour ticket. It is number one on the tourist list for things to do in Berchtesgaden, and Synonyms include: mountaintop retreat, luxurious lodge built for Hitler, expensive house, luxury home.
The buses are clean, comfortable and very timely. It is very well run and organized. You can either bus, hike or bike to the top where incredible views await. Don't go thinking you can tour the property however. Accessible space is limited to bathrooms and a restaurant mainly. There are restrooms, a restaurant and gift shop at the bottom where you catch your appointed, time specific bus. You must pay for parking using coins only so be prepared. Once at the top you can wander the grounds of the property and climb stairs and short trails leading to amazing views. Proper footwear is encouraged if you hike trails. It's very rocky and uneven.

The bus is a bit expensive, but definitely recommend it, cause it's a hard hike up. If you want to spend more time on the mountain tell them while buying a ticket that you want more time - bus places are counted and you can't miss it.

If you are a history buff you might enjoy the visit. Nice views from the bus that takes you up the mountain, and gorgeous vistas at the top as well. However, the house functions as a restaurant nowadays, and there's only a small exhibition of photos on the outside gallery. In my opinion, not worth the price charged.

Great example of NSGWP engineering and excess. Being one of the few standing buildings of the era this a must visit for any history nerd. Arrive early in the day to allow time to explore, enjoy a beer, and have lunch. I doubt there’s a more scenic view anywhere and I’ve only experienced a few roads/drives that rival the experience of getting to the Eagle’s Nest. It’s only open during the summer.
A huge, 11th-century fortress complex on a hilltop with breathtaking views over the city to the Alps is an unforgettable visitor experience. The fortress also offers one of the largest Medieval castles in Europe, with an exhibition space of over 335,000 square feet in 50 buildings.
Great place to visit when in Salzburg. You can walk up but we chose to take the funicular railway, which was fun. We bought the €13 basic ticket which was good value. It gives you return trip on the funicular railway as well as entry into most of the small museums. Museums were wonderful lots of interactive exhibits and easy to understand explanations. Great for kids and adults alike. A must visit when in Salzburg.

Spent our last few hours in Salzburg hiking up to the Fortress. It was a great way to spend the morning. I really enjoyed learning about the centuries of change the fortress went through. I would recommend walking up, so you get a really good idea of why the fortress was so strong. The hill is long and steep. Seeing the three different gates makes a big impression as to the strength of the place.

There are great views of Salzburg and the surrounding valley. We had a great time.

The condition this fortress is in, is unbelievably good.
Definitely get the funicular train to the top, it's excellent.

Seeing a true middle ages castle, along with the lifestyle, customs and ruling of it is truly an amazing experience.
The castle features a lot of stuff: from sightseeing at the top of the keep tower, to how peasants were imprisoned in the dungeon and how the castle was built, history around it and a museum.
This has been a big dose of history for me, so for any enthusiasts out there looking to learn a bit of history during their trip, i totally recommend this place.

A place full of history. A castle that was never conquered. Several stages of time and many stages of tools and weapons. The view is amazing and it is very organized. What an amazing medieval castle perched above the city of Salzburg. There's a free guided walking tour in the morning for a bit of history and to get your bearings of the castle. There are many exhibitions and useful information around the castle. There's a spectacular view of the city and make sure you don't miss the organ which plays everyday at set times.

I spent €10.80 on a basic ticket. It is a "must visit" attraction if you are interested in taking photos. But if you are interested in history if the fortress, you may find a bit disappointed with the description as some of them are in German only.

We used the funicular to get up as it was a very hot day. Great views over the city and an interesting walk around the fortress. We ate at the panorama restaurant at the top of the funicular and the food was delicious. It suddenly became very, very windy just as we sat down to eat which of course, stopped not long after we finished our food!
We had the Salzburg card so admission was free.

An imposing structure that sits proud above Salzburg. We spent a very pleasant hour ambling around the outer portions of the building. We did not try the museums as we were running late, but just walking around was interesting, and they had some fun little diversions around that the kids could try. There were some stunning views across the city to the mountains, and weaving and winding stairs and corridors. We took the funicular railway up and down (which in itself was fun) and added to the experience.

Very different fortress, as big as a village itself. The carriage ride to take us to the castle on top of the mountain was a fun part itself. The original palace goes back to 370 AD. The castle has been extended and renovated many times trough history. There are magnificent royal room on top of the castle. Worth visiting for sure.

This is a must if you're visiting Salzburg. The fortress is one of the most characteristic places in the city.
It is very well preserved, with a lot of museums and rooms to visit. It also offers an amazing view above the city.
I really enjoyed the many snippets and videos scattered around the place. They provided a lot of historical anecdotes and gave us some glimpses of life back in the middle ages.
You can reach the fortress with a funicular or on foot. I recommend walking up there only if you have the endurance for it. The trail is quite steep at times.
I also recommend booking the tickets in advance online. There are always a lot of people going there and having already the tickets drastically reduces the wait in line.

Great place to visit. What they don't tell you until you climb the big hill to get there is that it costs to just get in the grounds. Its worth it just for the views though to be honest gazing over the alps especially during sunset was lovely.

Easy to spend 1.5-2 hours here. The views are spectacular, and museums mostly good.
State Rooms: They are beautiful (particularly ceilings and walls), but I hadn’t realized there were only 3 rooms to see. Interesting but only took 5 minutes to see.
Main museum: An interesting mix of general history and historical life, but found the super basic English signs to be distracting. (They sound as if they were written for 5 or 6 year olds.)
Regimental Museum: An interesting 6-8 rooms on military history in Salzburg given the regiment based there, particularly focusing on 1800-1918.
Marionette museum: Two rooms with about puppets with signs in English, German, and Italian. Cute but in and out in 5 minutes.
Purchasing tickets is easy either online or in person, the this ticket will need to be scanned before entering the funicular and various museums at the top.
Toilets were quite clean in/near museums.
Cafe: Service wasn’t great whilst waiting but nice to have option.

Stunning and beautiful place, the artwork throughout is wonderful. If you have an interest in architecture and/art, then visit this Cathedral. However, our second visit was to enjoy the well advertised 30 minute Midday Music session for just 6 Euros per person, and unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The idea is to demonstrate the many organs (5) culminating in the massive main organ. The religious readings far exceeded the music, and only about 10 minutes was actually played. We like HUNDREDS of others who attended did not seem that impressed. Shame, it was good while I lasted.

La cathédrale Saint-Rupert de Salzbourg est de style baroque.
C'est dans cette cathédrale qu'a eu lieu le baptême de Mozart.

The St. Rupert Cathedral in Salzburg is Baroque in style.
It was in this cathedral that Mozart’s baptism took place.
The vault is very high and the entrance is impressive. The building was bombed in 1944 and the reconstruction, even successful, did not go completely unnoticed.
However, the visit is essential when visiting the center of Salzburg.

One of the highlights of Salzburg, the cathedral is glorious although not quite in the highest tier of Catholic cathedrals. Never the less, if you're in Salzburg there is absolutely no excuse not to visit and spend the better part of an hour taking in the neoclassical splendour. The line for entry can get rather long - I popped into the nearby Franziskanerkirche for a while and came back a half hour later and it was shorter. Still, I doubt you're going to get in without some line.

The palace garden is beautiful, and very big. There are plenty of hidden areas so make sure you don't miss anything, because it is worth it! My favourite part was a botanical room with turtles and birds in it. You'll know you're near if you hear the birds chirping.

Lovely garden and nice views of the fortress. It would have been nice to get some more information about the palace and different buildings, but definitely recommend having lunch in one of the gardens. Just lovely to sit outside and enjoy the views.

When visiting Salzburg, my wife and I first walked to the beautiful gardens, from where there is a beautiful view of the castle. The gardens are magnificent in June, when we visited them, the vegetation and flowers were beautiful.
The Mirabell manor with all its outbuildings and garden monuments is on the UNESCO list as the Historic Center of the City of Salzburg.

A must see in Salzburg. An awesome park to relax, spend a lazy afternoon and try to have a sandwich/picnic while you do people watching. Expect a lot of tourist. Spend time walking around the park. It huge & has a gnome garden. If you have time watch a Mozart concert at the marble hall. It is really work it

We visited the gardens and the marble hall. It was lovely, a lot of people are sitting in the gardens reading books or having lunch. The rooms were closed for visit but the statues in the marble hall were impressive.

Nice free garden you can walk around. Very well kept, but smaller than I expected. We couldn’t visit the marble salon on the 1st floor as it was closed. It makes for a good walk towards the city center.

Beautiful and the place where the sound of Music is shot but just a little bit. The gnome garden is nice. And as is consistent with other places in Austria the garden is very beautiful and tastefully decorated.

Historically glorified, Mirabelle palace of Salzburg, is known for its beautiful gardens with vibrant flowers. Flowers are curved into the ground in beautiful designs making it more enchanting. The rose garden with the leaf covered wall was favourite of the visitors!

Beautiful well maintained gardens! For sound of music lovers this must be your first stop.
Very colourful gardens but amazing backdrop with the city views & cathedral buildings. Free entry.
Only downside is you have to pay 50c for the toilet, I don't understand why it's not free.
The KitzSki mountain cable car is a popular winter sports destination that boasts a diverse range of challenging skiing and snowboarding slopes. Located in a picturesque and welcoming town, visitors can enjoy good quality lifts, well-groomed runs, and delicious food at the base and huts. The resort is sprawling with plenty of opportunities to find quieter corners even during peak times. Skiers looking to improve their skills will appreciate the several small black sections on the Kirchberg side.
Really great ski station with so many lifts and slopes that is perfect place for a week trip to see at least part of it ❄️☀️⛷️🥰

Skiing was pretty good except for the fact that the buses that are supposed to take you back were not running between the stations. Had to find a taxi to bring us back to Pass Thurn

It's a nice ski resort especially for skiers who want to improve. There are several small black sections especially on the Kirchberg side. The lifts were a bit crowded in the morning but the resort is quite big and it's not hard to find quieter corners (even during weekends).

First time experiencing the Kitzski area. Its a very large ski area with lots of variation and long valley runs. The lifts are all very modern, amlost every lift is a 6-8 seater with weather bubble and heated seating. Only major con for me is the low elevation. Also didnt like the bus connections in the spring season.
Conclusion:
+ very well connected and modern lifts
+ huge area, (+connection to Wilder Kaiser)
+ long valley runs
+ strong snowmaking
+ lots of amazing ski huts with delicious food
- low elevation, not very snow sure (booking half a year in advance is not advised), valley runs might not be open,
- some lifts (p.ex Fleckalmbahn) open at 8am but the first bus goes at 8:15am from Kirchberg (8:28am after 10. March)
- online info not always reliable: weather stations show error, runs marked open that are closed in real. Also some runs that looked still good were closed without a reason.
- expensive ski area
- from 10. March on only 1 bus every hour between Pengelstein and Ki-West lifts

Was good but… not that good as SkiWelt.
And most dangerous slalom gigant not ready to ski.

If I could I would give ZERO!!! Slopes are not prepared. At 11am there are extreme mulds and ice. Would not recommend. Do not choose this region for skiing!!!!

Chaos! They shut the cable car link between Jochberg and Kitzbühel (the weather seemed quite benign to me, but I'm not complaining about this), leaving hundreds of skiers stranded on the wrong side of the resort. There were no messages on the mountain about what to do, but luckily others seemed to know. So we skied down to Jochberg to find hundreds of people waiting for a bus. None came. The cable car shut early in the day, so why was there no contingency plan? Tiny busses came and went, already quite full on arrival. Eventually we squeezed onto one with our kids, which was dangerously full, people being thrown around every time the bus turned. We arrived home 2 hours later. What a complete joke. Surely this must happen quite a lot and why do they not have a plan for it. On subsequent days we did not want to ski to the other side of the resort in case it happened again. Unfortunately this officially l probably means we won't visit the resort again. It's crazy busy in any case.

Great resort with good lifts in a nice, quiet, beautiful and welcoming town. Was there during the week and it was not very crowded. Good food at base and huts. The runs were well groomed. The only regret is they we didn’t have more time there. Will definitely return. Loved staying at Gamshof hotel!

We had the chance to ski for 2 days. it was a great weather and the slopes are georgeus. There are many different lifts available. If you want to see all the slopes, one day is not enough, you can only ski the whole mountain in 3-4 days. There are restaurants in many different points. A great destination for a ski holiday. Daily skipass in peak season is 65 euro per person

Its just about 300 meters from Kitzbühel center. Thera is a big parking and rental ski shops just next to it. Within 15 minutes you can reach the top of the mountain. The scenary and the ride to the top is so breathtaking!!

Very nice place. The ticket is about 25 EUR but the view is splendid. It feels a bit expensive in summer however the view is very nice. There is no vegetarian restaurant at the mountain top. Hence I would suggest to carry our own food at mountain top. You might want to eat something at mountain top considering the view , which is fabulous. However only drinks are served which is not do good during lunch time.
The Herrenchiemsee New Palace is a grand structure located on the island of Herreninsel in Bavaria. Built in 1878 and modeled after the Versailles palace, it was created as a tribute to absolutist monarchy. Ludwig II, its founder, spent very little time here and made it more as an expression of his romantic ideas and imagination than as a residence. The palace's design reflects Ludwigs' obsessions with romanticism while being typical of his creations.
It was a very beautiful environment, quiet nomatter the population.
The Kids are So happy going to see the King's bedroom ☺️, unfortunately i couldn't go in because my other two Kids aren't up to 5yrs i stayed out and it was so much fun staying out too.

Visit here around end of july 2022. Beautiful palace and gardens, 25 min walk or 15 min horse drawn carriage ride from boat. Museum for Ludwig II inside the palace. Also a nice restaurant. I love the castle and it’s worth visiting. Even just walking around outside in the park is amazing.
The walk from the ferry dock was not strenuous but on a warm day could leave one sweating. There is an ice cream stand near the end of the trail for those needing a cool indulgence.
The palace is rich with history, you will enjoy it with a guided tour. The cafe offers varieties of drinks with limited food selection. The fountains in front of the palace and sculptures in and around the palace are impressive and you can stand and admire for longer time.

A breathtaking incomplete palace constructed by Ludwig the second in the middle of a scenic lake. I highly recommend paying the 3€ for the carriage ride from the ferry, it really added to the whole experience of arriving at the gardens

Forbidden to take photos inside the place. The guided tour takes 40 min, and it is nice. The journey from the train station to the place can be done by a nostalgic train, and a boat. Tickets are sold near the train station

This palace cost more than all the other King Ludwig castles. It’s worth seeing.
Catch the early ferry as you need a 20-30 minute walk to the castle in the island.
Cafe at the castle for breakfast or lunch.

Awesome palace, guided tour of palace available for € 10 in Deutsche and English.
Tour lasts about 40 minutes.
From the ticket counters it takes good 15-20 minutes walk to reach the palace and horse carriage service is also available for € 3.5 to reach palace, from Ticket counter.
Over all a good experience.

They say the journey is more exciting than the destination, Neues Schloss Herrenchiemsee is an ideal example. It starts with a boat ride beside Chiemsee Lake with crystal blue water. You can take your boat to reach the destination and enjoy the scenic view of a dream house and the islands inside the lake. Once you reach the castle don't get astounded by the beautiful sculptures and exquisite rooms built by King Ludwig 2. Take a ticket to roam inside the castle under guidance and explore the museum inside the same building. Behind the castle, a green lawn bounded by trees narrows down towards the sea assembling an aesthetic view.

The island is great. Lots of alleys for a walk in the nature. You can spot deers. The palace is the highlight of the visit. It is very well maintained. The rooms are fantastic. It is very sad that Ludwig didn't managed to finish all of them. You should definitely visit it. They have a translated leaflet for all languages.

Boat return ticket to the island is 10€ per person or 27€ for the family of four. Additionally, the castle ticket which you can buy on the island is 10€ per person for a guided tour. It was all worth it as the place and the surroundings are incredible. There is a café and a restaurant inside the castle to have a break after the tour.

Great place to visit for a few hours to see the palace and the grounds or a full day if you also want to stroll around the island. The ferry ride to and from the island is decently quick, and the palace tour, which we did not do, is around 40 minutes or so. The grounds are beautifully maintained and peaceful, and the fountains run on a timer about every 15 or so minutes, so it is worth taking your time to enjoy the scenery.

One day is not enough if you want to combine it with a big walk. We will definitely go again because we want to enjoy and relax around Herrenkimsee, for the other island another trip😆 Check how long the museum tickets are valid and don't throw them away, and visit the island when the fountains are working, it's probably very beautiful

We walk round trip from docks to the palace, not that far, could enjoy the surroundings. The palace is beautiful as like as the Versailles palace in Paris France, ashamed that they not allowed recording any video or photos inside the palace. Worth it and I love it.

I was the only visitor at that time as it was late in the evening. So, I got the opportunity to explore the place by myself with a tour guide. It was amazing experience to go through the place and learn about how he got broke and the palace remain incomplete 😂

So much recommended, the best ever visited castle. It even beats the Versailles in Paris. So beautiful to visit the outside and the inside. For students it’s only 9€ and for adults in general 10€. So worth the price. To reach the island you can buy a ticket on the boat for 10.50 €

✨✨✨Cheimsee!!!! AKA…”The Bavarian Sea” …a really amazing surprize to find a truly enormous and lovely lake in the middle of that beautiful mountainous region…so nice to take a hike along its shores…whether in summer …or mid winter as the attached photo of me depicts…always so nice to take a ferry to visit the astounding and gorgeous HERRENCHIEMSEE PALACE…situated on an isle within the lake …commissioned and built by Ludwig of Bavaria …it gives Versailles ( apparently in some ways its inspiration) a run for its money …note when in this beautiful hood…makes sense to take a side trip to also see the fabulous NEU SCHWANSTEIN ( the inspiration for the Walt Disney castle btw)…yet another simply fabulous structure that Ludwig built …and which now continues to delight and amaze all who visit 💯🙏🏻👍🏻☺️✨✨✨
Glacial tongue-basin alpine lake covering 3.5 sq. mi., with spa towns & hiking routes nearby.
Amazing place!!! But you see many many rich (and old) people here for holidays.

Tegernsee is one of the most beautiful lakes and even places, I have ever seen and been to!!
Small lake and town near to Munich, less than 2 hours by car and also you can get there with train very comfortably, during pandamic all the shops in a small town are close but there are many small local shops for dining and decorative stuffs.
But we enjoy sightseeing, hiking, relaxing and we were lucky because it was sunny that day and it helped us to enjoy more.
Definitely I will come back and stay there for couple of days in hotel, one fay was not enough for me !!
