Interesting stop. Great views. If you park at the top, give a donation to the parking man. Found toilets down the steps at the left hand side of the basilica. Nice drink and sandwich in the town Square afterwards.

(Translated by Google) Located in a spectacular enclave of the Sierra de Andújar, the sanctuary was finally built between 1287 and 1304 in the hill of the head, and was renovated at the end of the 16th century. Since 1930, they attend the cult in the sanctuary. During the Spanish Civil War, she was the shelter of about two hundred civil guards from the national side of the province who adhered to the military survey in Spain of July 1936, of its families and numerous civilians who were trapped inside. They resisted for nine months the siege against a very superior contingent of faithful soldiers to the government of the Second Republic, until 1 May 1937 was taken by the Republican side. The final result of the bombings on the sanctuary was its reduction to rubble, the loss of its artistic wealth and the primitive image of the virgin of the head, due to the resistance of refugees under Captain Santiago Cortés González and the importance and repercussion that the press of both sides gave to the development of the siege. The facts were taken to the cinema in 1949 with "The sanctuary does not surrender", one of the films that were edited for the surrounding of the national side during the Franco dictatorship. Visit highly recommended, making a small walk on a road that leads to the top. Worth.

(Translated by Google) I find it shameful that people go to see the sanctuary and the elevator is not open since there are many people there who cannot get up on their own and want to see the virgin and cannot even enter due to poor management. They ask for a quote to install it and once installed it is not used because you have to have the key to be able to use it and the key is not there. This not only happened today that we went, but the elevator has been closed for many months!!!

(Translated by Google) Beautiful Basilica within a beautiful enclave. From the moment you enter the path that takes you to the Sanctuary you can enjoy beautiful mountain landscapes. There is a midpoint where the pilgrim's viewpoint is, from which you can see the Sanctuary in the distance and there is a sign where you can read a little about its history. The road has quite a few curves, normal for a mountain, but it is worth taking the road to get to the Basilica. It is very pretty and the Virgin is beautiful. Down in the town are the brotherhood houses and there are restaurants and shops. You can do the end of the journey walking up a steep slope that takes you to the top or you can arrive by car. The views from above are impressive. There is a Pilgrimage every year to which many people come.

The Terra Oleum science museum is highly educational and definitely worth a trip. It's unfortunate that it isn't widely promoted in this region known for its olive groves. This state-of-the-art museum provides an in-depth understanding of olive oil, showcasing a range of interesting exhibits in a cutting-edge interactive setting. The staff are friendly and the facility itself is both innovative and interactive. I would definitely recommend visiting this unique museum to learn more about the fascinating world of olive oil production.

We really wanted to learn more about the local agriculture and economy so went out of our way on a Saturday morning to visit this modern museum. What a waste. Terrible signposting in area then when we arrived it was closed. Website says open until 1pm on Saturday. Notice on door says the same. All very closed. After further searching we drove away at midday. Not the way to make tourists welcome.

Booked and paid online just a day before for our visit on 7 May. There were only two other people visiting at the same time. Our guide (a young blonde haired girl from Baños de la Encina) was very enthusiastic. She spoke solidly for more than half an hour, then gave us time to look around by ourselves. The tour was in Spanish. I didn't ask if there was an English option and can understand that it would take twice as long to do it in two languages. It would be nice if there was a paper copy of some key points in English for foreigners whose Spanish isn't fluent. We loved the castle and would definitely recommend the tour. There is a large public car park just below the castle, near the tourist information office.

You can feel history in places like this. Old convent and castle. The guided visit is a must. The views from the top of the castle are impressive. It was intended to protect the pass to the north from muslims in the south. The road to the castle is really bad. Sharp uneven rocks give an ancient look but also the feel. You can break something in your car. 15minutes for 2km up the hill. Take care.

A great museum with fantastic displays and information about the battle. The setting is amazing too on the edge of the natural park. From the reconstructed keep you can get amazing panoramic views of the surrounding countryside where the battle took place.

If you know nothing of the medieval conflict between the Christians and Muslims, and you like learning just the mere outline of history, then perhaps you'll benefit from this "museum". However, there was only a handful of artifacts, and a bunch of reproductions of clothing and armaments, and the audio and written descriptions were thin. To learn about the battle, Wikipedia had much better info. The bathrooms were nice.
Cola Sasha — Google review
Made for kids who don't know what a sword or an arrow is. Not even good for the basics of what the medieval ages were. Innacurate replicas on display, and you can't even see the battleground from the lookout tower

I found it very interesting with audio guide. 4 euros for the entrance fee which is at the top end for value I suppose, but then the girl on the desk was very helpful and friendly.
I recommend it if you have some time, there is a play area for children and a cafe. Also at times archery. You need about an hour and half to listen to everything and time to take in the views from the tower.

The Sinagoga del Agua, a 14th-century Jewish synagogue, has been unearthed in a real estate project. The property developer intended to build apartments but instead discovered the archaeological remains of the synagogue and rabbis house. Original masonry was used whenever possible for the sensitive re-creation of this fascinating historical site, which features a women's gallery, bodega with giant storage vessels and miqve (ritual bath).

Interesting guided visit for €5 of a fairly recently rediscovered medieval synagogue, or so it is believed. Developers of three adjacent buildings in 2006 found a basement with huge earthenware vases half sunk into the ground, all covered in sand and debris. Further excavations revealed a number of wells in adjacent cellars that were full of rubble, and a perfectly preserved large rectangular ceremonial bath down seven steps, all carved out of solid rock inside what must have been a prehistoric cave created by underground streams. Also a number of arches, columns and architectural features including a double prayer gallery as used by women in synagogues, above a central space that would have been used by men. Archaeologists concluded that during medieval and renaissance times this building had indeed been used as a clandestine synagogue during periods when the Jewish faith was persecuted in Spain.

Stupid that it costs you more to order the tickets online than at the door. And no effort is done by the cassièrre / guide to speak anything else than Spanish. The French and English texts don't explain a lot, are quiet rubbish. The whole visit is done very speedy, you are not allowed to take your time to admire anything. Definitely, in those circumstances, not worth the money.

Most disappointed. We paid our entry fee. No audio guide. There was a spanish tour starting. We were obliged to join it. We were then told we could not proceed ahead of the tour, which was in spanish only, and taking 15-20 minutes per room. We left. We asked for our entry fee back. Came after 17 years to watch the play El burlador de la sardina, as part of the International Classical Theatre Festival directed by Ignacio García. The Corral de Comedias dates back to the XVII century and is, together with the one in Alcalá de Henares, the oldest in the world. These were the first theatres, contemporary of Shakespeare’s original Globe, where people would use the patios between houses to represent plays. If the plays were successful, lots of people came by horse, reason for which you still tell actors and actresses, directors and technical staff, when you’re about to do a play, the phrase “Mucha mierda.”
Anand Enebral — Google review
Classic spanish theater. Offers guided visits. It is an inner "patio" of old houses, where audience occupies the ground floor and the balconies in small wooden chairs. No roof, just covered with some awning to protect from sun (or cold days). Plays are also centuries old. An interesting experience.

Small national park & migratory bird site, explored by off-road vehicle, Segway or on foot.
Peace, tranquility and surrounded by nature. That is how everyone should spend at least one day every few months! Las Tablas is free, a lovely walk while admiring, small birds, geese, ducks, etc. The trees are amazing! There is a boardwalk to get you over the wetlands safely and to get you as close as you can to admire the scenery. There is a big parking area, restrooms, visitors center, observation area, and plenty of benches along the walk to take a rest if you need too. A wheelchair can make it through with some help (through some dirt areas). This is a very nice National Park which has been under the government's protection for over 50 years. I totally recommend a visit.

It so desperately needs more water to reestablish its glory. What little remains still holds a great compliment of birds, however the majority of the reed beds are now dry.
The reserve is expertly maintained by a dedicated staff. But will it ever return to its former glory? Not with fields of new vines and olives planted sucking water from the water table. Nation help is needed to retain this Spanish treasure!

We visited on a sunny and warm Sunday afternoon at 6pm. There were still 100's of families, couples and guided parties walking round the various routes. We were lucky though to have a guide who was able to explain quite alot in English. The levels of water have fallen due to the dry weather and this has pushed the wildlife further away from the walkways and viewing areas. I suggest you either take a pair of binoculars with you or go on a guided walk that provides them. I think the best time to visit if you want to see as much wildlife and in particular the birdlife is in the mornings and from Monday to Friday as the numbers of people visiting are significantly lower than at the weekends. There are toilets situated at the start of your journey so I would say if you need to go do it before you set off walking. There is also a small shop selling souvenirs as well as snacks, water and ice cream etc. Try to visit in April and May or even earlier as the water levels drop as the summer months approach. On the plus side if you have travelled in a campervan or you are towing a caravan, you can stay overnight in one of the grassed car parks. Remember to bring your own food as Daimiel is about 14km away.👍👍👍👍

Friendly, helpful lady in visitor centre, who explained the current water shortages and how water is provided to maintain some good habitat for water birds.
On the day, protesters had closed the main road to Daimiel, so I detoured by Villarubio de los Ojos.
I expected Google maps would take me on the minor road to Daimiel town but Google maps was rubbish, taking me along rough farm tracks, told me to turn left onto a field - no tracks within 200m. It insisted on directing me to a hide that is only accessible on foot from the visitor centre, but refused to direct me to the visitor centre.

A beautiful Natural park to spend with Family and Friends. It was a beautiful experience walking around the park. During summer it is good to visit during morning because it could be very hot during tge middle of the day.

Bird watching in an easy way. Almost flat and well prepared with walkways over the water takes you to the observation posts. From these wooden cabins it is worth to use long shot photography and telescopes to watch wild life upclose. Big cranes arrived early november this year in numbers.
Ducks, storks, herons, cormorans...

It’s such a beautiful place, but I went on summer and it was slightly dry. Probably is better to come on a wet season.

Restaurante San Antonio Valdepeñas offers a taste of regional Spanish cuisine and an impressive selection of wines, all within the charming setting of an 18th-century building. The restaurant is highly regarded for its outstanding food, excellent service, and inviting ambiance. Diners can savor a variety of dishes, from exceptional risotto to delectable fish and tapas, complemented by a great wine collection.
The food was excellent, and at a fair price (€17.90 menu with 2 courses, bread, drink and dessert). I couldn't finish my cachopo and was offered to takeout.
Unfortunately the serving time was extremely high (almost 50 minutes waiting until the first dish), but they told us they had a problem at the kitchen and is not the norm. I believe them, and I still rate 5 stars because of the extremely good quality/price ratio. Just beware it's not a place to eat in 40 minutes.

Absolutely outstanding in every way, this place is one of the area's hidden treasures, which, if you're in the area, you cannot afford to miss. Ambiance, service and foodwise, very much worth the kilometers that many endure in order to reserve a table here. An outstanding risotto, great fish, tapas and - as behooves the area - a great wine selection. You will absolutely travel back in order to enjoy the varied items, a-la-carte or in a tapas-style experience. Try it once, and become a lifetime regular. Also great for that business occasion or important event, with an absolutely unbeatable price/quality balance, with which you will undoubtedly surprise your associates and guests. Do call well in advance.-

Great little museum that showcases the history, process and origins of Manchego cheese. Attached is an art exhibit and a memorial to a local legend and bull fighter. Perhaps the best thing, it's free!

What a great small museum that explains the making of manchego cheese. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great cheese to purchase at the end of the self guided tour

Interesting museum if you are interested in cheese..art..Spanish history. Not just a cheese museum. The history of cheese making is there and a lot of the background to Manchego including the sheep.

All lagoons are accessible by car and there are many picnic areas, otherwise there are several restaurants with a typical local menu.
In the various lagoons it is possible to swim and in some even rent canoes. In addition to swimming and taking advantage of the picnic areas, you can take walks along the paths around the lagoons themselves. I highly recommend it, you will be enchanted with a strong desire to return.

Emblematic place of waterfalls that are recommended to visit in the wet season, that is, in spring, to be able to see all their force in action.
The Park consists of a total of 16 lagoons. In some of them bathing is allowed and it is a typical recreational place for the locals to withstand the high temperatures that the region reaches in the summer.
You will also find boat rental stands. If you use them, it is advisable not to go against the current between lagoons. It can end up stranded among reeds.

These windmills are really well preserved and the area surrounding them very well done. If I compare the visit to the windmills in Consuegra, this visit was more pleasant. There are several bars, cafés and souvenir shops right next to the windmills. We had a coffee and a snack while sitting and admiring the views. The parking area wasn't huge, but they are working on it...this area is in construction and when it is finished, it will be even better. Very good experience overall. If you can only visit one set of windmills on the Don Quijote trail, let it be Campo de Criptana. No tickets needed.
Michelle Martínez — Google review
Difficult to reach, but if you can get there either by local train or rental car (our option), it's worth the visit. Nice to see small towns in Spain that aren't overrun by tourists and remain true to their own culture. The atmosphere is very calming, as there is almost nothing going on during the day, and the streets are empty. This also means that everything was closed for a couple of hours in the afternoon, presumably for a siesta.
The windmills themselves are magnificent and stand on top of a hill that has a good view of the rest of the town, as well as a landscape of distant mountains beyond.
Tourist Information center spoke little to no English, but were nice, and provided an interior tour of one of the windmills.
Not much else to do in the town except visit the windmills, but it's worth it for a few hours long day trip.

Beautiful location with the best views of the city! These famous windmills have been featured in Don Quixote’s match scene so if you’re a fan of the book, a visit is worth it! It’s free to visit plus some windmills are open sometimes so you can go in and view the inside as well which is fantastic. There are gift shops and restaurants here as well so if you want some original Don Quixote gifts or food, this is a reasonable place to purchase them.

Restored turreted 1456 castle, open since 2010 for tours, events & battle re-enactments.
15th century castle rebuilt in the 19th by Eugenia de Montijo. Audio guide available and typically there's people dressed in costumes showing how it used to be back then. Interesting and fun. Great place to visit. Price was a it too high in my view, costed 13 eur per person... A price of 8-10 would have been expected as there's more to see than in most castles. Recommended.

An awesome visit! The castle is really impressive and in an excellent status of conservation. This visit is a must do if you are in the area. Reserve at least one hour for the visit. Wonderful restored castle. It is a beautiful place to roam around with the information on the scan code in English or Spanish. It's very informative. My only issue was the extra 3€ for views the weapons etc at the exterior of the castle. Still it was worth the entrance fee of 8€
Worth seeing and lots of views of the country and small town. Amazing to see such an old castle/fortress in such good condition, and be able to take photos and your time when exploring the inside and surrounding area.
There are 5 towers to climb up and overlook in all directions, and u will also see three old windmills that were talked about in Don Quioti's novel.
This place is in the middle of no-where, and a few minutes after u leave and look back, u won't see anything again - a very well hidden place with all the hills around.

When I've been there the first time they told me this is like Galleria Vittorio Emanuele of Milan but in Albacete. As one of the few real "Milanese" left in the world I can say in my heart that it's true. (Translated by Google) It was a very heavy tour since to see two churches and the battlements of the hostel we have spent two and a half hours of a burden that is difficult to bear, but if you want to make these visits it has to be through this company since they have it particularly well organized so you can't do them. A big disappointment.
Reply to the company's reply.
I am sorry that you do not understand my review as it is written very clearly. Fifty minutes of history in the middle of the street is excessive. The time spent explaining life and miracles related to the church is also excessive since they tell us about the lives of certain painted dolls that are of no interest to anyone. The walk through the streets of the town to the church of the huge key, normal, without much pretension. And the ascent to the battlements of the hostel that was almost the shortest and most interesting.
The "excursion" has plenty of time for what is seen. A maximum of an hour and a half is enough, so my allusion to the 2 and a half hours that we swallow is more than understandable.
I hope this time I understand clearly.
Greetings.

Saludos.

Really amazing especially during the evening with the reflective lights. The walk up to the castle was also excellent. The little gift shops sell some wonderful memorabilia. A fantastic day out - worth every minute

The fort is located on the top and has amazing views. There is an entry ticket but it’s worth it. You can get a 360 degree view of the town. The medieval fortress closes a small space in the rocky ridge, through a series of buildings and an artificial moat. In the fortress as a whole, the keep stands out, as the axis of defense of the enclosure and a symbol of stately power. It is a pentagonal tower, with two turrets at its rear ends, the result of the reforms carried out by D. Juan Pacheco, II Marquis of Villena, in the 15th century. The place has rich history. A must visit if you are in Alcalá Del Jucar.

Well worth a visit. €2.50 each, prices in the gift shop are very reasonable. Not much to look at in rhe Castle, 3 floors and the roof top which offered great views. The best part for me was the cave below the castle, well set out and lots to see. It is quite a walk through the town but the streets are very quaint. There is parking at the Castle for a few cars.

A real gem of a place, stunning views around the area. The only negative is the descent from the cave House to the bottom of the hill is that the cobbles can be extremely slippy.

Omg!!! This place is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. It might be because I love caves and cave houses...From the village are plenty of signs to the Devil's cave. You can't miss it! At the reception is the owner, such a caracter, such a lovely man ( I think he is well known in Spain ) with his beautiful dog. We were allowed to visit with our two doggies. 💜 Impressed by the low price that includes the visit and a drink at the 5 floor balcony. There is a lot of history, old objects, pictures with the owner's past....so relaxing. I felt full of good energy and vibe after the visit. And the feeling of enjoying a good glass of red wine at the balcony...Absolutely gorgeous!!! Thanks for sharing with us this place!

One of the attractions of Alcala de Jucar. We loved it! Stroll down the corridors and rooms carved into a limestone .You get feel of the traditional cave house. One can only imagine how much of hard work and skills are involved. Watch out for charismatic El Diablo. He is happy to stop for a chat and photos. You may want to read some of his poems before the visit.
Anna Lloyd — Google review
A amazing place worth visiting. Got a chance to meet the legendary El Diablo in person. The place is preserved well. There is also lot of photos and antique stuff inside the cave. You also get a free beverage inside. A must visit if you are in Alcalá del Júcar.

We stumbled across the impressively named ‘Caves of the Devil’ almost by accident but once in Alcalá Del Júcar you can’t miss the signs everywhere pointing you to them. We went in with no prior knowledge so they were an absolute treat. This is no small home dug into rock - this eccentric marvel is part museum, part events venue, part bar (with great views out of the other side of the hill), part indulgent tribute to owner Juan José Martínez García, who I must confess seems to be famous though I still don’t know why. You simply must visit the caves, the entrance ticket gives you a free drink to boot.
Richard W — Google review
Quirky place to go and check out. One drink is included in the entrance price, we all enjoyed a red vermout.
We also met El Diablo himself, so you always have that as a possibility.

A must see. Much bigger than you’d expect. Key highlights are how extensive the tunnels are that go straight through the mountain and drink is included which you can have at the terrace with nice views. Good price/ quality ratio

A must visit when in Alcala del Jucar.
Amazing cave museum with a bar.
Friendly owner and his dog opens the door that links one side to the other.
Only €3.50 including a drink at the bar.

What a great place to explore! Not my first visit but was for my girlfriend. Great collection of typical Spanish antiques, covering everything from cabinets full of matches, medical equipment, typewriters, farm tools and machinery (to name a few artifacts), my favorite being a mini tractor type ploughing machine with what looks like grannies armchair sat on top for the operator 😂😂. Great value at €3 per person which includes a drink at the far side of the caves, really nice little bar overlooking the river at the mountains that surround Alcalá de Júcar. You can explore further the caves by walking up a 7 stories stairway, so take a deep breath before you do! The cave walkways are fascinating and you discover little nooks along the way. Another benefit is how cool temperature wise in there, especially when it was 40+ outside, so a welcome relief. The owner who is a spitting image of Salvador Dali complete with pointy mustache, there are plenty of photos of him with famous people along the caves, and we managed to grab one with him when we left. Great experience highly recommend!

It's worth to visit. Quite big cave, u can see the beautiful view through some windows(even in the toilet).
Also drinks are included in the ticket. It's just 3€. No reason not to visit🤷♀️

It's not just a cave. It's system of caves connected via tunnels, that go through the hill to the other side. Great view to the river valley from the terrace. Perfect temperature.

Try to find a parking spot well before you get there. The museum is prepared with a stage and public address system to be able to hold cultural events there.

Rocky hiking area with soaring cliffs & deep gorges, plus suspension bridges spanning the river.
Wonderful scenery and phenomenal views. The trail is well marked and well maintained. There are spots where you dip in the water in the summer. Make sure you take enough water especially if you're planning on taking the longer route. If you're planning to have lunch in Chilulla, make sure you make a reservation ahead of time on busy days.
Tariq Lahyani — Google review
Perfect place for a hike. Be ready for some off road walking and a ton of stairs. It is worth the effort for the views at the bottom.
Take some food and drinks in your backpack because there is nothing around.
There are some parking areas near by and from there is only walking. The trails are narrow so hard to bike on.
The full hike can be long but you can just visit the bridges and walk around that area, it might take an hour or so.

Unable to complete this due to 'maximum number of people on the trails'. However, the person at the gate said 'you can take a back way to get on the trail, I just can't let anyone enter from here until 2 pm'. Ridiculous the logic and outside, open air, in the countryside. We see why Spain is in the current situation it is in. Bravo.

Castell de Xàtiva
Castle
Sights & Landmarks
Perched on a hill, Castell de Xàtiva boasts a rich history dating back to Roman, Islamic, and Christian eras. The castle offers breathtaking panoramic views and is well worth the visit. Accessible by foot or bus, the site features archaeological remains and well-marked attractions. The town's tranquility adds to its charm, while ticket prices are reasonable. Hiking up the old route provides an enriching experience with various historical landmarks along the way.
This was an absolutely worthwhile experience!
I recommend hiking up to the castle, and taking the “old route”. You will pass a lot of important and interesting structures relevant to the castle and ancient times. The hike is not too challenging either- but I don’t recommend it for young children or people with mobility issues.
The actual castle itself is made up of two sections. You enter in the middle where there are bathrooms and a small restaurant. There are signs throughout showing the important or interesting places, which are marked in several languages (including English!). The view is amazing from up here! The website recommends buying tickets in advance online, which is exactly what we did. When we got there we just showed them the QR code that was sent via email, and off we went!
Courtney K — Google review
(Translated by Google)
The castle is quite good, they take good care of it.
Where they fail is in the services, you buy the ticket and the turnstiles are down and there is no one controlling. There is no security anywhere. It feels like if you enter without going through the ticket office, nothing would happen.
The cafeteria service, weak, weak...

Definitely worth the quick train ride from Valencia on the C2 line that runs every half hour both directions all day. It took me about an hour to walk/meander from the train station in Xàtiva to the top of the mountain. Bathrooms, restaurant, etc at the top too. Definitely take the side walking paths on the way down at least.
Frank McCollum — Google review
Definitely see this castle when you are around! Beautiful scenery's and a lot of the buildings are in a preserved condition! Nice views from the tops and staff was friendly. Prices are fair, also in the restaurant. Only downside is that are no English translations anywhere, only Spanish and Portuguese. You can see the website for more info, but a little explanation in English would make it more convenient.
Rene Tijs — Google review
Great experience! You get to see two castles situated opposite eachother. Beautiful scenery. You will need a minimum of two hours to see all but you dont have to do it in one go. There is a beautiful restaurant / caffeeteria right by the gate where you can have lunch, coffee or dinner.
If you travel from the City Centre, you can jump on a bus, but Im not sure how frequent it is. We went with a car, which is the most convinient. If you decide to walk up the hill, it will take you about 45min if youre fit. On your way up to the castle, there are local restaurants and a beautiful hotel.
Just to remember one, important thing, dont visit it on a hot day as it gets extemally hot on the top and it might spoil your visit badly.

The town was quite empty on Sunday, it added a certain calmness to it. From Xativa train station, we walked up the hill to where the castle is. Ticket prices for adults is €6 and if you're a student or has carnet joven, you can get it for €4.
The castle is worth a visit. They also have picnic tables. If you've never been to a castle, I think this is the perfect place to start. On our way up the hill, we encountered churches, caves, and some other landmarks as well.
The vendor lady was very nice, she'd explain to you everything and what she recommended to see.

You have to leave the car downstairs in the parking lot, there is a bus that goes up to the castle and costs €1, or you can go on foot along the road but it is quite a stretch, right in front of the parking lot there are some stone stairs that also reach to the castle. There was a girl downstairs in the parking lot, we asked her, and she didn't tell us anything, she just told us that she would go up on foot, and I thought it was terrible. Upstairs there is a cafeteria and machines with water and soft drinks. To visit the castle you have to pay €6 to enter, it takes 1 hour or so to visit the Major Castle and about 30 minutes to visit the Minor. It is beautiful to see, there are very well preserved areas, others not so much but the views are still worth it. My favorite place, the Balcón de la Reina Himilce, from there you can see the Castillo Mayor and all of Xátiva, and there are some beautiful photos.

Beautiful walls left from the castle. Not may buildings you can enter but you can walk the length of what would have been the castle and it's grounds.
The cafe is lovely. Good for drinks. The croquettes were delicious but the paella had no flavour and the protein was just lumps of fat, no meat.

A nice place. It’s better to visit early in the morning because it can be very hot later.
I walked up to the castle. A trip takes about 40 minutes. You also can take a tourist bus which can take to straight to the castle.
The castle works from 10 am. Ticket price - 6 EUR. The ticket includes visiting 2 castles (Small and Big one) and 2 museums in the City Center - museum of fine arts and archeological. I visited the first one. It has a good collection of paintings from XVI century and some pictures from Prado Museum.

I'd you opt to walk up the mountain, it'll be about 30 minutes, but a bit tiring, since once there, there will be also plenty of walking involved. The entrance was 6 euros. It is a large complex, worth the climb. There is a restaurant with outdoor seating in a very pleased, cool area to recharge and relax. The office can help call for a taxi for the way down.

Great castle and amazing views, would recommend going to tourist information in xanita(janita) before travelling up as they gave great things to do while it was too hot to walk to the castle but also have a taxi to drive you up. There is also a shuttle bus however its only on Sundays and holidays. The walk is alright coming down but I can imagine quite difficult to walk up when hot. Overall great day out!

It's an incredible place that must not be missed if you are in the area. The castle is spectacular even if it is a bit daunting at times due to the scale and height. Getting up to the castle can be done on foot (quite long, but you can see some archaeological remains) or by bus (recommended, but you have to pay an extra small fee).
With the small and large keeps, as well as a cafe, drinking water fountains, and well signposted features, it is well arranged. The views from the top of the castle are incredible
.A place well worth the visit!

The castle is beautiful and fascinating with fabulous views. Delicious tapas at the restaurant but very weird service! There were too many menus starting and stopping at different times. Slow service and confusing. The restaurant is in a beautiful setting though and you can visit the restaurant without paying to go into the main part of the castle.
There is enough parking near the entrance for about 20 cars, maybe more.

Stunning castle. It's best to get a taxi up, unless you are very fit. A lot of uphill walking within the castle but views to die for. A good restaurant within the grounds.

A great place to visit if you enjoy scenic views and a bit of easy hiking. It offers fantastic views of the city of Xàtiva and the surrounding mountains. The walk isn't too challenging, mostly just steps, and you can see everything in about an hour and forty-five minutes. It's a good spot for kids too, as long as you keep an eye on them.
The castle is big enough to wander around and enjoy the sights. There’s also a cafe where we stopped for coffee, but we didn’t try any other food there.
The dramatic backdrop of the place also provides for an ideal place for photos and your next Instagram photo.
Overall, it’s a nice place for a visit and great for taking in the views. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area.

This is very much an important place in the town of La Pobla de Vallbona. Currently, (March 2023), there is a lot of work going on to replace an extensive area of paving but we have visited a number of times this month as it is a central location for many of the Fallas celebrations. Many of the parades and ceremonies are based here.
It is also the Monday morning market place, lots of stalls from fruit and vegetables to clothing, very much a meeting place for the people of La Pobla too.
There is a children's play park area, a number of restaurants and cafés, plenty of seating, green areas and lovely plants and trees yet very close to La Pobla's wonderful high Street and the Town Hall area.
Our house in Spain is just outside the town, we love it here and on our visits, feel privileged to be accepted here and enjoy all the wonderful pride that the people of La Pobla clearly feel for their lovely town and culture.
