Lake Annecy, located in France, is a breathtaking body of water that offers ample opportunities for swimming and various water sports. The lake is surrounded by mountains and adjacent parks with plenty of bike paths to explore. It's an ideal place to take a stroll with your family or furry friend as all stores are pet-friendly. For the ultimate experience, it is recommended to visit during the end of spring or summer when the weather is perfect for enjoying all that this magical place has to offer.
Beautiful lake with a stunning vista of the snow capped alps in the background. The water is clear and blue. A great place to take a leisurely stroll, but also seems a popular area for running or cycling around.

My visit to the Lake was so amazing. Annecy is a beautiful and peaceful city. The Lake had amazing views and it was simply picturesque.
The water was very clear and the rumours about the lake annecy having the cleanest water in Europe seemed true.
As a tourist to Annecy you definitely have to visit the Lake. There are alot of beautiful places to take nice pictures and after having a fun time at the lake there are a lot of restaurants and bars around you have a meal or drink at very affordable prices.
I will definitely be visiting again in the future as I love it so much my only challenge with the city is that it's very small so you there are no trains or trams to go around and I dont understand how the buses worked.

Super super bluish lake covered around with mountains. Must recommend to take a boat ride which is worth. You can view
the alps from here in the boat ride.

It was raining therefore not a good time to visit this lake. However this place is amazing with great views and shining blue water.
Great place to visit in summer time for boating and swimming!

Definitely you cannot visit France without visiting this place “lac d’Annecy”. It is a magic place with these unimaginable views. Here you can walk with your family, your dog… all of the stores are pet friendly. I prefer to visit this village in summer or in the end of spring because the weather is the most important thing to enjoy it till 100%. Also, behind the pics, there is a big park with grass to rest a bit.

A beautiful lake with a view of the mountain peaks. Crystal clear blue water. A small port located by the lake. The lake is so clear that you can clearly see the mountains reflected in it.

What is amazing lake and I wish I stayed long time to try all the activities.
I drove a boat which was new experience for me and I enjoyed it.
Even walking around was cool.

Breathtaking views. I recommend visiting this amazing place, it is a very charming town, plenty things to do whole year round, not too far from ski resorts

Wonderful place! One of the most beautiful places I've ever seen! Great for a walk with views of the mountains. Good restaurants and exceptional architecture of the buildings.
Betina Quadros — Google review
Truly stunning. I will certainly be back for a longer stay! There are water activities to try and the little village town has a lot more shops and restaurants than I had expected! Come for no less than a full day because you will want to enjoy the leisurely lunch, do shopping and enjoy lake. The morning market is really good and the locals are very friendly compared to the rest of France. The region is famous for its dairy products.

Such a beautiful lake with a magnificent view. You can enjoy a picnic with your loved ones while bathing in the lake or taking a sun bath. There is a good restaurant besides the lake but the number of food outlets can be increased to provide food at all times to the tourists.
Apart from that, clear water, blue vibes and the pure environment just makes your day. ❤️

Lake Annecy claims the Europe's most cleanest and clear lake! 😍 its such an amazing clear lake with a French Alps view 😍
There are plenty of activities to do on the lake such as kayaking, swimming (the temperature maybe cold thus suggested to swim during summer) , pedal boat, etc.
Must visit lake 👍🏻
The Vieille Ville Annecy, a popular tourist attraction, is characterized by its well-preserved medieval Old Town. Visitors can enjoy wandering around the area without any specific purpose and admire the emerald-green canals that run beneath ancient stone bridges. The St. Peters Cathedral in Geneva is a beautiful and historic church, which is widely considered as one of the best sightseeing places in the city. The cathedral features some interesting gothic elements, which makes it one of the most beautiful churches in the world. Additionally, the towers of the structure are incredibly beautiful and worth climbing if you're interested in seeing the city from a unique perspective.
We visited this 850+ year old cathedral which is impressive. We climbed St Peter’s Tower and had spectacular view of Geneva. It was an adventure since we climbed the first tower and walked across the other tower. It was awesome to be outdoor (not only see through windows) and view Geneva at different angles. It is super windy when we went.
Catherine Hunt — Google review
The panorama view from the top of the cathedral is amazing. The entrance to the main hall of the cathedral is free. A ticket is needed to visit the south and the north towers. It costs 7CHF and there were no queues. However, prepare for a lot of small stairs to go up! There is no elevator. The view is really amazing, especially to the lake and it is worth the effort.
Leon Anavi — Google review
Very nice cathedral. The nicest parts is the chapel on the right from the entrance and the tower with its own labyrinth of terraces. Each offers a great view of the panorama of Geneve.
This is one of places you really don't want to miss when sightseeing, especially if you are walking from the center/Ritz to Patek Philippe's museum. Really worth a time spent. Be careful of opening hours though!
Pawe? Skar?y?ski — Google review
Definitely worth a visit with its stunning internal and external architecture, and great city views from the spire tops. The surrounding old towns narrow, hilly streets are great to walk around with their unique character and atmosphere
Mathew Taylor — Google review
Best view of Geneva you'll ever get, and as a nice little bonus, the view is from one of the most modestly beautiful Cathedrals I've ever had the pleasure to be inside. Definitely worth doing the catacombs as well, truly humbling and mind-blowing.
Luke Archer — Google review
Must visit the north tower panoramic view of Geneva. It is a steep climb of probably 100 steps, but the view at the top is worthwhile! Pay 7chf extra for the ascend inside the church. I also find the side chapel room to be excellent w its beautiful stain glass work. The main church is not particularly impressive in comparison to many European major churches.
vic NY (Vic NY) — Google review
Great cathedral! They have tourist guides outside (FREE) that will give you a bit of history about 10-20 minutes. It’s amazing to see the bright stain glass windows and the big organ pipes. It took about 70 years to build and you can see the differences as they build the place. Worth the visit!
Kelvin Fong — Google review
Absolutely amazing!
We went to the cathedral on a quiet Monday and bought tickets upon arrival to go all the way to the top.
The journey up there was definitely worth it as the views were just breathtaking! There are a couple of different levels on the way up to stop and take photos before continuing to the very top so plenty of opportunities to take it all in and enjoy!
It wasn’t all that busy either, which was a real benefit. This is a must-do in Geneva - you can’t get sights like this anywhere else in the city!
Marina Lovejoy-Black — Google review
As an historical monument worth a look but in terms of a cathedral architecture and design I’ve been in much more impressive ones. Free entry of course. Stained glass was interesting to note there was not much in way of saints and figures, which I found surprising. The small chapel near the exit is highlight with painted and decorated ceiling and door way so don’t miss that.
will mcmurtrie — Google review
Beautiful cathedral and a must-do viewing tower to see the stunning landscape of Geneva. The stairs to get up are very narrow and steep. It only takes around 3 minutes to climb to the top so not as bad as it seems, and worth it when you get to the top. Reasonable price for a great tourist attraction. Cost around 11 CHF for one adult and one child
Melissa McCall — Google review
Even if you have one day in Geneva, just like me, this is the place you want to visit. It is in old town, and you want to visit the old town as well, so just do it? From here it is just minutes walk to the lake front and there are many restaurants in between, expensive though :)
Paul Huang — Google review
Visiting the (North) Tower was the highlight for us in Geneva! It's not that heavy going up but the view is amazing! See my pictures for self explanation. We were at lunch time up there and unfortunately the water fountain was turned off. However, at around 13:00(1pm) it was turned on again.
Benjamin K?ry — Google review
St Pierre Cathedral used to be a Roman Catholic Church converted to Protestant church during reformation. The stained glass windows are stunning. While entry to the cathedral is free, you have to pay some entry fee to get to the tower, from where you get a nice view of Geneva.
Chhanda Barman — Google review
An exquisite protestant church in the heart of the old town in Geneva. Worth a visit along with a walking tour of the old town to get a feel of the times gone by! I unfortunately visited on a public holiday, hence the church was closed. Very interesting to walk along the narrow pathways, as i heard of many secret passages as part of the Cathedral and its surrounding architecture!
Nayanjyoti Kalita — Google review
Visited here a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed. The staff were friendly; and after purchasing some reasonably priced tickets we were able to climb the stairs to get to the top of the cathedral, where we got incredible views of the city and surrounding scenery. There was a very effective 'traffic light' system which kept the rooms nearly empty (allowing you to enjoy the building without large crowds distrupting your experience). There were plenty of rooms and corridors along the top of the Cathedral allowing you to spend a decent amount of time there, and also allowing us to get 360° views from each side of the cathedral of the city/scenery. Definitely worth visiting during your trip in Geneva.
Zade — Google review
A huge (gothic) cathedral with a view. There some 160 stairs to the top, the staircases are super narrow and operated by traffic lights. You can see the church roof both from inside and outside, you can check the bells too. The towers are definitely worth the visit (for a small fee 5-7chf, paid inside the church).
janina .cz — Google review
Beautiful cathedral very well maintenance and with amazing painted glass windows. Free to enter but you need to pay 15€ to go up the towers. Super worth it, beautiful views of Genebra and the lake and a unique way to explore the cathedral towers and ceiling
Daniel Dantas — Google review
One of the historical buildings for Christians. It has two tower for observing around and see Geneve's wiev. It has also archological sites under it. You can visit with ticket without reservation. Enjoy history and landscapes.
mehmet aksoy — Google review
A place rich in history. It was so important for Geneve for such long time that it is a "must go place" when visiting the city.
I recommend buying the stairs + archeological site combo; it's super cool to see the city from above and super interesting to check the excavations where so much happened in the past.
Bruno Jodas — Google review
What a beautiful structure.
We paid seven Swiss francs to tour the towers, which was worth it for the view.
There are a lot of small steps to go up the tower and back down the other tower.
Tracy Vance — Google review
St. Pierre Cathedral stands as a remarkable architectural marvel, showcasing centuries of craftsmanship and artistic brilliance. The soaring spires and intricate details of the facade create a visual spectacle that captures the imagination from the outset. The interior, with its grand vaulted ceilings and stained glass windows, offers a tranquil space for spiritual contemplation.
Despite the cathedral's undeniable beauty, my recent visit on Christmas Eve was marked by a regrettable incident. As the only brown individuals in attendance, we couldn't help but notice a lack of diversity. While the architectural magnificence was undeniably present, the experience was marred when, upon returning choir booklets, a lady volunteer exhibited an unfortunate lack of warmth. Her strange stare and the abrupt manner in which she pulled the booklet from our hands left a lasting negative impression.
Despite this unfortunate incident, St. Pierre Cathedral remains a must-visit for those appreciating architectural wonders and seeking a glimpse into Geneva's rich history. It is my hope that future visitors encounter a more inclusive and welcoming atmosphere.
K P — Google review
A magnificent cathedral with classic tall beam structures, glasswork and historical wooden interiors (such as choir stands from the 1500’s), an interesting visit and there is no entrance fee. Definitely has that holy feel, even if you aren’t religious. So full of history it would be a shame not to visit, so highly recommend stopping by!!
This is the tourism office where you can request for any information and help that you need. Yvoire is a lovely place and was really a super fun and well spent day. I will highly recommend a visit here. Very beautiful with the cobblestone roads, stone and wood houses with beautiful flowers everywhere. Totally fantastic, a place out of a medieval fairytale!

A city of medieval where wood, stone and flowers meet. You can be lost in the history while you wander in its tiny historical streets. I would like to take pictures of its every single building, gardens and roads. I liked it too much. I highly recommend you to visit this beautiful place.

Flamboyant Gothic-style monastery known for its ornate marble royal tombs & oak choir stalls.
A truly beautiful monastery. The vast majority of the interior is open to visit for a small entry fee. Interactive displays and videos bring the history of this great building to life. A large collection of artworks, traditional wooden toys and intricate architecture provides a pleasure filled visit for all. Learn about the history of monarchs who resided here or see how the building was constructed and adjusted over the years. This really is the crowning jewel of any visit to Bourg-en-Bresse. A must visit.

Amazing place, exceptionally preserved and restored. Not to miss if you are in the area and if you are a minimum sensitive to old church architecture and all associated arts, history and... just beauty!

Took my breath away. The artisitic detail on the choir area, the beautiful stained glass windows (whose features included "textured" glass, making the clothes look like velevet or silk!), and the prominent paintings by famous artists, were all so fantastic. This place will delight and surprise any visitor.

Parking mandatory (5€/h) and a lot of people over the weekend.
Organize yourself to avoid the crowd.
Julien Hurth — Google review
Quite crowded but not without reason. Several lathe and small waterfalls can be viewed and experienced from a will maintained path.
Though mostly easy to walk with stairs were needed, it can be sometimes a bit steep and slippery.
Because there is only one trail along the river and the trail at points only allows one person, when crowded it is easily jammed.
Don't forget to bring some food and drinks with you if you venture past the first waterfall.
There is plenty of parking space (paid).
Stefan van Aalst — Google review
There are several walks to the waterfalls, we took the short one from the road above, but I believe you can walk a longer tour along the river and all around. You're able to walk very close to the falls themselves and watch from secure metal gantry. You can also view the falls from a viewpoint above.
There is a restaurant nearby, but I believe it is only open during certain seasons. It would provide a wonderful view of the falls while eating though!

A beautiful but also demanding path for which you should definitely take safe footwear. The effort is definitely rewarded with beautiful waterfalls and breathtaking views. Unfortunately, the parking fee of €15 is really not cheap, but hopefully the money will at least be used to preserve the beautiful natural spectacle :)
Kuchen Geckarbor — Google review
Beautiful waterfalls and walk...would definately recommend it for a day trip. It could be quite difficult to walk parts of the route if you had limited mobility as there are many steps and slippery rocks but you can choose how far you walk. On the route we took I couldn't see any restrooms or restaurants which were open unfortunately
Emily — Google review
Nice cascade. Unfortunately, it was almost dry because of the hot summer.
-2 stars because of the parking lot for which you have to pay (5 euro 1h). The first 20 minutes are free, but it is almost impossible (without running) in that timeslot to walk to the waterfall and back
Stefan de Vries — Google review
Absolutely stunning waterfalls. Make sure you wear good footwear with a lot of grip as it's quite slippy in places. Also it's best not to go off on the longer walk in the forest without a map as it is really easy to get lost! There are multiple paths and they are not sign posted once you get away from the main walk along the gorge with the waterfalls.

Museum dedicated to The Laughing Cow cheeses, with interactive exhibits & multimedia for kids.
Thoroughly enjoyed my experience at the museum! It was an unexpected find during our road trip so we thoroughly enjoyed our experience here! You learn about the history of the brand and how the cheese is produced. Fun little interactive stops for kids (or a big kid like me haha) and just an overall fun little place for the family. I was happy to pick up a few fun souvenirs at the gift shop and some snacks for the car as we continued on with our road trip!

It’s a museum of the famous La Vache Qui Rit (the laughing cow) cheese. A family cheese business that melted the worlds tastes buds with its creamy cheese. It has a lot of fun activities both for young and old. You can follow the history of thru the webpage with voice over provided. A wifi will be available for the entire tour. A short but enjoyable tour. Don’t forget to take home a souvenir for this your.

Great place to know the history of La Vache qui rit and all the products,

What can you say, it's the house of the laughing cow. Expect cows, laughter and the origin story, complement with an interactive section and finish at the, way too alluring, gift shop.
El Fresius Olesius — Google review
The visit is fairly expensive (8$) and honestly there isn't much to see other than the exposition explaining some of the history behind the brand but all turned in a way to show how great they are. I wanted to get a better understanding of how the cheese is made and the process behind it, which they didn't provide. Probably good for kids though alot of the interactive displays were closed due to covid
Mischa Kriens — Google review
The museum is kinda cool. On the other hand, the "escape game", which isn't actually one, has really upset me. You have to go to a website on your phone but it only works with chrome, and it's really just 4 mini games for kids.
Rijaja — Google review
I came here at 510pm and they won’t let me in because their cashier closes at 5pm and the museum closes at 6pm! How ridiculous! Post on your website! Waste of time for people who drive all the way over! Such a disappointment for the kids!
Jermaine Chow — Google review
Very brand and marketing focused. They had one small part about the process of making the cheese. The audio guide was well done.
Medieval Romanesque church with stone vaults & many statues, mosaics & stained-glass windows.
Beautiful Building, well worth seeing the main church and surroundings. The building has a special feel to it, as you enter the nave (main part of the church)
Ken Grimm — Google review
This church and Abbey is one of the best preserved in France. It is surrounded by it's own walls and gates which gives it an impression of a fotres.
Already in the 6th century a church was built here in a place where there used to be a Roman castrum or army camp.
The Abbey got a boost in 875 when the remains of Saint Philibert were put to rest in this church and gave it it's name.
The church is sober on the interior but has some interesting mosaics behind the main altar.
At the entrance is a small exhibition.
The Abbey has a nice central courtyard

One of the most amazing churches I have been to, and I have been to hundreds or thousands of them. Beautifully restored, but not too much changed from its original state. Wonderful natural light. Not too crowded. Amazing architecture. Interesting, beautiful town that is not too touristy (at least in January, when I visited). Great, inexpensive lunch at the restaurant just outside (to the south of) the main entrance. If you like old buildings or Romanesque architecture, you should not miss Tournus.

Christophe Seynaeve — Google review
Beautiful abbey of some significance giving an insight into what Cluny may have been. Modern stained glass windows compliment the soaring architecture of the nave. Mosaics in the ambulatory, a magnificent crypt and the adjacent St. Michel Chapel all add to a great visit.

Historical building, still used as a church for mass, surounded by part of its ancient defensive towers. A view shops and cafes also provide interesting goods and drinks/food. Tournus tourist office is also located opposite the abbey giving good information about the local region. Public toilets were closed due to Convid 19. Parking the car should be done outside the Abbey grounds. The SNCF railway station is but a short walk away.

Wonderful Abbey, there was a wedding today and I was thinking how lovely to marry here. To walk around and see how old but well preserved it is, a lovely little town on the Soane river. A pleasure to visit.
The Hôtel-Dieu Museum, also known as Hospices de Beaune, is a renowned attraction in Beaune. It was originally built in the Middle Ages as a hospital and later transformed into a museum. This flamboyant Medieval hospice showcases local art and furnishings from that era. The Gothic architecture adorned with vibrant glazed tile roofs adds to its magnificence. Additionally, the establishment owns prestigious vineyards whose wines are sold under Domaine Hospices de Beaune.
Historical landmark which served as the first ever hospital in the world. The place have a rich history and a nice audio guided tour. I would say this is this is the main attraction in Beaune.

Very interesting museum in a former hospital that was in use up to 1984! Tells the story of how the hospital worked over time and daily life there. Also a must visit for medieval art and architecture enthusiasts as the place is full of it. Displays are informative with the provision of an audio guide which can be in English and French.

Hôtel-Dieu Museum - Hospices de Beaune is an absolute must-visit! Taking the guided tour is highly recommended to fully immerse yourself in the rich history of this place. While many flock to the region for wine tasting at the numerous châteaux, don't overlook the incredible beauty and fascinating history here. The museum provides valuable insights into the evolution of medicine and leaves you pondering how far we've come, yet how little we've advanced in some aspects. It's an incredibly interesting and thought-provoking experience that shouldn't be missed.

Hôtel-Dieu Museum is one of Beaune's must-visit attraction spots, besides the various wine domains and caves in the city. You'll learn about the building's history and transformation, which is entwined with that of the city. Audio-guide is included in the entry ticket. Book online in advance to avoid long queue.

We visited on a half market day via tour bus and enjoyed the area. Restrooms were not bad. There are many places to have lunch and shady spots to relax. The market packed up at 1, so get there early if you want to check it out!

The hospice is definitely worth a stop. The very detailed audio information played on demand via a special phone provided was a great addition to the basic tour. It is an amazing place that was set up by a nobleman in the 1400s.

The museum showcases the former hospital's rich history, featuring impressive architecture, vibrant tapestries, and a collection of medical instruments. Very interesting and astoundingly beautiful museum which was a hospital in the early modern age. If you are anywhere near Beaune, this is certainly worth checking out. Cheap admission includes audio tour which is available in many languages. Great trip through 16th-18th century history.

Beaune is famous for wine and this impressive former hospital for the poor. The Burgundian roofs and architecture are beautiful to see and it is famous with tourists. You can get an audioguide and explore the history of the halls. Every year in Nocember is the charity wine auction as the hospices also have their own vinyards.

Make time to go visit. This hospital built in the 1400s. Very interesting. The audio tour is presented as if you are talking with the wealthy couple that funded the construction. A fun POV. If you bring children, there's a special audio tour available for them. Very enjoyable .

Very impressive building from the 15th century. Created to provide hospital facilities to the poor, it continued to provide medical services into the late 20th century.
The price of entry includes a self- controlled audio tour about life in the Hospices through its history.

This place is amazing. Bever thought that a private own hospital could be this cozy and welcoming, especially during the revolution days. The facilities are surprisingly well preseved and protected for the visitors to know about that period of time. If it wasn't that sunny, I would love to spend more time there just to listen to the bells from the tower.

Such a fascinating building and history. I was amazed and it definitely surpassed my expectations. I definitely recommend the museum. The collection of chests was great. I was surprised by the inner courtyard, the pharmacy, the Kitchen, the main doom with its roof and the little chapel.
A castle and museum which contains collections of warplanes, antique vehicles, and wine cellars from centuries ago. The museum is large and takes 1.5 hours to tour for a family visit. There are various vehicles used in historical periods throughout the museum.
We had a wonderful time at the Chateau. The collection of planes, helicopters, race cars, motorcycles and models is truly incredible. It would be an amazing museum by itself but the added backdrop of the chateau adds character to the history. Don’t miss a chance to enjoy their wines as well on the way out.
Mike Minick — Google review
Stunning landscape even though during winter. The castle itself is well preserved with beautiful decoration. The vineyard surely gorgeous during summer time, but for now they are sleeping. The cars and motorcycles collection are crazy. They also have millions models of car, plane and service vehicles. The aircraft was packed in this place as well. You must visit if you are an aviation lover.

The museum is relatively large, and the entire visit takes 1.5 hours, suitable for a family visit, 12€/person for adults. There are vehicles, motorcycles, fire trucks, airplanes and other vehicles used in historical periods.

A fascinating although slightly odd experience. Quite an eclectic mix of artefacts on display in and around the chateau, including planes, hovercraft, tractors used in the wine industry, fire engines, motorcycles and Abarth cars, but many of the exhibits looked sad and neglected. The ground and 2nd floor of the chateau itself were accessible to the public, which was interesting. We would have liked a cafe on site but, sadly, there isn't one.
John Dunwell — Google review
What a wonderful place to visit. First, there's the beautiful chateau and surrounding grounds. It's striking from the outside and filled with curiosities and antiques. Then there are the eclectic collections to see. Race cars, lots of motorcycles, fire fighting equipment, tractors, aerospace items like satellites and rockets, and military aircraft. Very nice way to spend a day. The chateau also offers wine tastings and wines for sale.
Thomas Herkey — Google review
The chateau, is a mixture of museums. Perfect for the petrol head. There's bikes, motorbikes in the chateau itself. Airplanes outside. Fiat arbath cars in one of the outbuidings. Fire engines and euipment in another. Tractors and aircraft engines in another. Modle planes. Great place been there a few times. Only critsitim is there could be more detailed descriptions on some of the exhibits. Plus the chataux itself is interting. Will go there again.

One of the best Chateaux we’ve been to with the addition of that fabulous museum. €12 worth every cent, not an empty historic building, full of Abarth racing cars, motorbikes and a field full of post war fighter jets. There are thousands of model’s of the above. This is a collector’s paradise. Allow at least 2 hours minimum.
Rob Ashford — Google review
Interesting collection of cars, planes, fire trucks, tractors and bikes but very run down and dusty. The rooms did not seem kept up or cleaned and the roof was deteriorating. Maybe sell an airplane to pay for a new roof. Interesting to see what a hoarders house would look like if they had 400 yrs of generational wealth.

Fantastic and amazing chateau and boggling collections of old school racing cars, farm equipment, old firetrucks, motorbikes and military planes. What a strange collection of things in one place, but I loved it. I wanted to see a castle and a castle is what I saw. But as a bonus it has a Vinyard. That's not all. It has a race car collection that the owner personally raced in each. There us also a huge motorcycle collection, tractors, fire trucks, and the world's biggest collection of old aircrafts. If that wasn't enough. There are more models than you can count all within the 7 Hector property. Strange yet delightful.
Robert Ellis — Google review
We was pretty excited to go to this castle. We got there and it was 12 euro each. we walking into this building with old racing cars and model race cars I was missing the upkeep of this building. Like the floor or lamps on the cars to light up the beauty of these cars. Next to it was an old attic with a bounce of motorcycles stuffed together collecting dust and not even with information about what it was, year or anything. This was for every part of this museum / private collection. Dust was growing on the glass casting in every room with model car, planes, motorcycles and everything that had wheels on it. It was an overkill.
This place as great potential, the 12 euro's should have been used to have someone put a little love into this place. Put new bulb lights into the place, paint the walls that have water damage, clean the dust of the motorcycles, in the court yard set up a little bar, with the wine of the vineyards that surrounded this beautiful place. People would buy it. Simple little displays with directions where to go.
If you love old race models, and love for motorcycles and airplanes. It's probably well spend for 12 euro. If you're not interested in those things, or allergic to dust Don't visit it.

Chateau de Savigny, Rue Général Leclerc, 21420 Savigny-lès-Beaune, France
The Museum of Fine Arts Dijon, located in the former palace of the Dukes of Burgundy, contains major collections of western art from the 14th-19th century. After a nine-year renovation, the museum has become a work of art itself and is one of France's most outstanding museums. The Salle des Gardes is a notable exhibit featuring ornately carved sepulchres from late medieval times.
Another of the great Musee des Beaux Arts of France, originally established just before the French Revolution. Many magnificent art pieces from antiquity to the modern day. Also houses the tombs of Dukes of Burgundy. The building itself is part of the palace of the Dukes of Burgundy.

The Dukes of Bourgondy took the belfrey clock of Kortrijk and placed it on the Notre Dame at Dijon in order for the 'Jaquemart' to strike each hour of the day. But it wouldnt be the only artifact that the Dukes would take from Flanders. As the power of the Dukes rose, so as well did the cultural richness as they ordered several most reknown artist of the time to excell on their artwork. Although the French revolution destroyed the church where the richness of the Dukes was ment to survive the ages, the tombs survived so we can still witness how Klaus Sluter sculpted the 'plearants' in order to grieve for the Duke and his whife. But there is much more to see than only the medieval art. Certaibly wirthwhile the visit.

Superb museum in a historical setting (palace of Burgundian dukes). What can be better? Well, it’s also free (permanent exhibition). The museum is not too big, so your mind can digest it and the collection is really stunning- starting from Middle Ages right to the XX centuries modernism. Amazing to see all those emotions portrayed by the artists- fear, hate, love, compassion. All this go through centuries of art. Sometimes you can feel yourself in the middle of the battle or a tragic mythological scene. I truly enjoyed this museum.

Nice museum although the directions to follow for going around the museum were somewhat patchy.
Plenty of oil paintings on canvas, a good section on sculpture, covering especially on François Pompon.
The other very interesting parts were on the history of Burgundy and its four dukes.
Unless I missed it, I was surprised of not seeing anything about Gustave Effeil whom has we know built the Effeil Tower and was born and grew up in Dijon

Free entry but you need to go to the counter to get a little ticket before you cross into the galleries. I think it's just to find out where you come from for research purposes. The owl walk comes through here (see my other post) There's a small but nice green patch out the front if you need a rest.

The entrance is on the side of the large building that was once the Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy. The collection spans a long period and is not so special. Sometimes you see an item that stands out but most of it you just pass.
What is impressive are the tombs of the Dukes of Burgundy which are best seen from a balcony above.
The museum is a maze of galleries with stairs and elevators everywhere. Navigation is a bit difficult
Entrance is free.

This is an excellent museum, which welcomes visitors and is set in an excellent location full of history in its own right. It is free to enter and being a non French speaker, unlike my wife, I found the English translation at the foot of most labels really helpful. The descriptions and explanations are written in a friendly and informative manner that make you eager to learn more.
My favourite discovery was about the 'mourners', a fascinating set of sculptures that accompany the tombs of Philip the bold and John the fearless. I was therefore excited to find miniatures of the mourners in the excellent gift shop, one of which now adorns my shelf at home. I can thoroughly recommend this as a must see venue.
David Tapper — Google review
Amazing museum in an amazing city. The museum is objectively small, only three floors, but what a chic and amazing exposition. I'm not talking about the fact that the entrance is free. This is absolutely and very important for all visitors, especially for those who go with the whole family and who want to join the works of art. And of course many thanks for this to the city. Where I was, I have not seen this anywhere else, it is unique, many thanks to the city for this ones more. Exposition from ancient times to the present day, very good logistics of rooms, very good arrangement of paintings, spacious halls - all this in general is conducive to a calm viewing of the collection.
100% recommendation!

Its free, has amazing architecture to look at and some outstanding art as well. Just for the ceilings in some rooms it is worth a visit though. Go to the top floor and onto the balcony of the dukes to look at the coffins.

The Owl of Dijon is a renowned tourist spot where visitors can explore the city and discover 22 different locations. The trail offers various attractions along the way, making it a unique experience that is highly recommended. To reach the famous owl, one must follow metal signs on the ground. Excellent architecture, iron-work, sculptures and old buildings. In fact, the idea with the Owl, and the tourist routes where you are accompanied by owl, is simply ingenious. this idea, of course, is also implemented in other cities. But in Dijon, which is a larger than other cities of the region where we were, this is a real help in order not to get lost and see the main sights of the city. Owl itself accompanied us almost everywhere where we were not in this city.

The neoclassical Place Stanislas is a large, impressive square in the center of the city that is home to many of the city's important sights and institutions. The square is famous for its lavish iron railings and fountains, as well as its statue of Duke Stanislaus Leszczynski.
Definitely a must visit when in that area. you can easily stay hours and look around at the gold plated astonishing buildings from centuries ago. There are Cafes to sit outside and enjoy a sunny day, the cathedral and a church in walking distance and a park to wander around.
There is a parking garage near by, with really tiny spaces but def. worth while stopping there.

Stanislas has a significant importance in Nancy. It was classified as the favourite monument for France in 2021 and I will tell you why from my perspective: it is historical , big that it can host a parade in december, light show in Summer and winter, 'jardin éphèmere in October' and so much more events. There are restaurants/coffes/ museums/opera around this place. You can enjoy ice cream and delicious food or just sit in the chairs for people who came to admire the place/sun or lights. In special occasions, the lights of the buildings around Stanislas change like 'pink october, ..etc'. You can also visit 'hotel de ville' and enjoy the view from above.

Commonly known as The Nursery as it's English translation or colloquially as The Pep, this is almost 22 hectares of park and garden inside a green space of over fifteen hundred hectares. Named as the nursery as Stanislas Leszczyński, former king of Poland, used this space as trees nursery to be planted along Nancy's streets. It's supposedly designed in a checkerboard style (perhaps better observed from above or when the leaves are growing in summer to appreciate the perpendicular shape). It's well laid out near Stanislas Square and alongside Place de la Carrière, with rose gardens, playground and carousel for kids, sporting spaces, puppets theatre, an art deco garden theatre, a music kiosk and so much more. Accessible to everyone and it's wheelchair friendly. Great for family outings or just a stroll and soak up the atmosphere.

The Centre Pompidou-Metz is an art museum located in Metz, France. The museum draws on the largest European collection of 20th and 21st century arts to stage ambitious temporary exhibitions. The dynamic space also hosts cultural events, talks and youth projects.
Best modern art museum in Lorraine.
Many exhibitions for the price of one ticket

The museum’s design is amazing. But the quality of exhibited art works is not that impressive.
It could have been somewhat educational if it was free, but it’s not. So you might like it if you’re REALLY into modern art, but otherwise don’t bother.
P.S.: Added photos of the only few examples which seemed interesting.

A very unique experience of art. The architecture of the whole building is art itself. Free entry for students and a big space for art to discover. Close to a shopping mall with also a nice coffee inside the museum. Museum Shop was very big with a lot of different books. Really enjoyed the visit.

Located just a few hundred meters from the center of Metz, it's conveniently accessible and definitely worth a visit. Centre Pompidou-Metz is a great contemporary art changeable exhibitions venue.
Plus the building it self is a great architecture landmark, I hardly recommend everybody to visit it, whatever you are interested in contemporary art or not, there will be a reason for your joy there.

Extremely easy to get lost here! The exhibits are fantastic, smart, and always have an acute logic to them. Visiting the center is a real pleasure.

Centre Pompidou Metz is a stunningly designed exposition building. Any architect should at least have been in it to value how design can open up to possibilities, instead of dictating usage. The way expositions are facilitated by the buildings structure and its surrounding, and how curators used it in their summer-expositions of 2023 ("Bonne Chance", "Worldbuilding", "Repetition", etc.), was like wandering in a dream.
Thank you!

Amazing art museum/architecture worth any detour! The Centre Pompidou in Metz orchestrates itself as a breath-taking piece of art on its own. Art collector and art analysing Lacan is in the centre of this most spectacular and challenging exposition in the context of art and its pyschoanalysis with view to various given life topics.
The curation is one of the most sophisticated and successful ever enjoyed @ an art exposition.

It is the Pompidou Museum, so you expect boundary-pushing art, and that was sure the case on the 3rd floor of this museum. It had all kinds of digital arts that are trying to answer social and philosophical questions of life. A bonus was the ability to interact with the video-game-like art.... Like playing a game.
Very fun for kids and family.
On the second floor there was art by French artist Susanne Valadon. She focused on the human body and was the first artist to paint an unclothed man from the front. The exhibition is comprehensive and shows her entire oeuvre.
Her art is bright, colourful and eye-catching.
The first floor had contemporary, abstract art.
Overall, definitely worth a visit, but I would recommend coming in early. I experienced quite a queue when it opened.

The Centre Pompidou in Metz is an amazing museum that deserves more recognition. The artworks they showcase, ranging from classic to contemporary, are truly exceptional. The building itself is a masterpiece and worth a visit in its own right. Don't miss out on their museum shops, which are curated with great stuff. Metz Cathedral is a massive and ornate Gothic cathedral in Metz, France. It is popularly called the 'Gods lantern' for its incredible collection of medieval stained glass windows, some of which are brightly coloured and imaginative. The cathedral is home to one of the highest naves in the world and boasts an impressive array of lacy golden spires.
It is a great place. We have been there for a Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately did not see any ceremony happening but just visiting and walking around was enough too. The cathedral is very clean with high ceilings and Colourful detailing of both architecture and art . You need to spend hours to get the meaning of the message transferred via pictures on the mosaic glass walls

This cathedral isn’t as famous as other cathedrals in France or Europe but it rivals them in terms of its beauty. It is large but has intricately detailed decor. The stonework was phenomenal in both quantity and quality. The interior was amazing and I was taken with the incredible stained glass windows. I didn’t pay them enough attention at first so be sure to look carefully at them. Wonderful feat of engineering.

I only saw the outside since I got there after-hours, but it is a magnificent building. If you're in the area and have an opportunity to go Metz, definitely go and definitely add the cathedral to the list. Also, if you can see the light show (which may be hard to do depending on train schedules and your transportation needs), I would highly recommend!

Shocked by how stunning this cathedral was. It was absolutely enormous. Perhaps the largest church I’ve ever been in. The outside is an architectural wonder, but the inside takes your breath away with its sheer elevation and open space. If you are into European churches, this is a must see. Even if you’re not, I’d still say you shouldn’t miss it if in Metz.

Gorgeous stained glass, and a joy to visit at any time but especially when the sun is streaming directly through the windows. I wish I understood the stories depicted by the windows, but alas. Even if you’re like me and can’t understand the stories or aren’t religious, this is a beautiful place to pause during the day and take in the sights.

I am not a believer and I often criticise the people who believe in God but I have visited Metz Cathedral twice and my thoughts were the same... God exists. He is the mind of the people who designed this building, He is the arms of the men that built it.

It's amazing to step inside such an old cathedral. This building has one of the largest collections of stained glass in the world. There are many well-known artists who have contributed to it. It is also very interesting to see a model of the cathedral showing what was built in each century during its many changes.

Metz Cathedral is a breathtaking masterpiece, adorned with intricate details that leave one in awe. The sheer grandeur of the structure is awe-inspiring and captures the essence of history. It's unfortunate that the historical information texts are exclusively in French, which might pose challenges for non-French-speaking tourists. Nevertheless, the cathedral's beauty and architectural richness transcend language barriers, offering a mesmerizing experience that speaks to the depths of human creativity and devotion.
Vast, fortified WWII complex with bomb launcher turrets, guns & underground train, for guided tours.
Really interesting fort to visit if you like war history of WW1 and WW2. Guided visit is compulsory. We had the one in French, I saw another group in English. Could get damp and cold in certain areas, dress accordingly. Have to climb a flight of stairs, about 140 steps, comfortable shoes recommended.

This was really my first thing I’ve actually experienced in France. I think it really does show off that France’s Pride and willingness to react to what was perceived as the next war. Really impressive engineering. Multi-lingual (French, English & German) though the German tour got mushed into the English one since there was only 2 Germans to the 5 Americans. Would recommend if you really want to see something that got overlooked but is extremely important to the context of WW2.

This is by far the coolest fort I've ever been to because everything still functions. You get to ride the little train to the still functioning gun turits to see a demonstration of how the guns move into position. Huge underground fort, really cool history. Guided tours given twice a day by volunteers who keep the fort going.

Beautiful and lovingly restored 10 kilometers of bunker system from second works war, including arms and uniform collection, and small train. Everything still fully functioning. Great feat of engineering and shows how enemies can turn into friends over time.
Kids loved it. Wear sweaters, it is 12 degrees Celsius year round. Tour takes about 1,5 hours. Breathtaking!

Fantastic tour of an incredible bunker. The tour lasts nearly 3 hours and involves traveling on a train to the far end of the bunker and seeing a working gun move and turn. They have done an excellent job to restore and maintain it.

Absolutely amazing experience.
45 meters under the mountain a 3hr long tour of the fortress, connecting bunkers and artillery. With fully functioning 3 story 100 ton turrets.
The old ammunition train has been converted to take passengers and transports you from each section of the fortress.
They have 4 generators that are over 100 years old and still fully functional (they are turned on once a month, we were lucky enough to be there at that time). There is a full authentic museum in the bowels of the labrynth. The size of this place is incredible.
I drove from England to see this fortress and It was certainly worth the journey, what an experience and an eye opener to the brave men who constructed it.
Tours are conducted in language groups so just ensure you are there ready for the English tour to start.
At 15 euros a head you will not find a better deal on the face of this earth I guarantee it.

Yes, the opening times are weird and yes, you'll most likely only going to be able to get a French language guided tour that you won't understand anything of which is a shame. And the tour is very long when you don't understand a word.
But this is still one of the best interwar forts to visit. Wonderfully preserved and maintained with a lot of running equipment. You'll take the original narrow gauge train. See the generator running. The turret mechanism works and is demonstrated. It's fantastic!

One of the biggest still accessible forts of the Maginot Line and only one with still working machinery. Lots of original material present. You walk past different sections and are escorted by a well informed guide. Fun aspect...you get to ride an electric train to go from one block to the next and back. Tour is only twice a day and takes 2,5 hours. In the morning the tour is in French only. Afternoon English and German sometimes also possible. There is a toilet on the site. The resto is only open for a few hours in the afternoon. You can also walk around parts of the complex above ground via a set route.

A very interesting and educational experience. Mostly well preserved 3-km-big underground WW2 fortress complex. You get to ride a train on the guided tour, which is in French and on demand also in English or German. The main gun still works and it's fun to see it move.
The Zoo d'Amnéville is an independent animal park showcasing approximately 2,000 species from five different continents. Along with their animal exhibits, the zoo offers a distinctive medieval-style falconry show. Their Facebook page provides visitors with up-to-date information and photographs of their animals, as well as discussing general animal news. In close proximity to the zoo are 72 hotels and other accommodations that can be booked through Hotels.com for as low as /night.
We had a wonderful visit to Zoo d'Amnevelle. The zoo is stroller friendly and my toddler only needed a little help seeing into some of the exhibits. We watched the sea lion and the falcon show and both were amazing. Throughout the zoo, there are plenty of kiosks for food. The prices were a little steep, but not unreasonable for zoo food. We were able to see almost all of the animals. There were only a handful of exhibits where the animals were either hiding or currently not in there. We will be back for sure, we spent 7 hours at the zoo and felt like we barely scratched the surfaces on what we could see.

An older facility, but very well maintained! The place is very large with an abundance of trees of all kinds. You could almost say you are walking within a forest! Start early in order to see everything and to catch all the shows, and I suggest at 10am when it opens (closes at 5 I think). There are 3 shows not to be missed, the holographic, the seals and the birds, and these i put in order from good to better to best. You do NOT want to miss the bird show! Get there early though to get.a spot in the shade, otherwise you will burn! You also have to follow the map religiously in order to see all the animals, because the paths can confuse you a bit. There are 3 locations throughout the park where you can eat either burgers or snacks. If you eat the burgers just remember that the French cook them medium to rare, so if you like them more well done, you need to ask for it. There is plenty of parking, its free and its very close to the entrance of the park. Don't expect good souvenirs from the gift shop though, that was the only let down. All in all its a great place to visit with the kids, just plan on using the whole day!!

A super bird show showing of both beauty and skil of the participating birds as well as the skill of their handles.
Collection of large cats and some of the smaller ones, nicely done savannah, and must see bear enclosures, one of a wolverine living together with a brown bear.
A bit on the pricy side @ €33,- / adult, but with free parking and afordable hotel near.
Dinks are proced as expected €2,50 for 33cl (2022) foor on the more expensive side.
I would recommend a full day if you are fast, multiple days if you observe or photograph animals. Worth a few hours travel

For being a Zoo it’s great for kids, the shows are nice and the animals are overall visible. 1 day trip well deserved. For adults it’s a little tougher depends on your view on zoos and animals in captivity… Personally feel a little sad for them and the elephants are so sad.

A zoo worth travelling to! I was surprised with how large the zoo was and how many animals there were to see. The zoo is designed beautifully and creates a very enjoyable environment. The animals also look very well looked after and energetic. I have visited many zoos where the animals are usually quite lethargic but the animals here certainly had personality! Thoroughly entertaining! One negative is that in the cafe area the ground was very active for mice.

There is a very large free car park near the zoo, well organized. The zoo itself has a wonderful selection of animals to admire. We feel that a lot of emphasis is placed on the animals living in as realistic an environment as possible. The animals and the enclosures appear well cared for. The large number of species delights young and old. There is also a petting zoo and a playground for the kids. Tip: Take a picnic with you. The food could really improved and it's from our point of view overpriced.

Once my favorite zoo in France, then the old management did some "dumb" stuff and the zoo fell into decline. Under new management now it's clearly coming back from that brink, there some way to go, but it's a great day for the family and their new projects look amazing like they used to be. Very hopeful for the future.

For 2 hours it cost 1.50euro. There is even a free public toilet in decent conditions.

This is a MUST SEE in my opinion. Such an awesome experience. The reason I give it 4 stars is that for many reasons, the visit isn’t intuitive, at least for English-only speaking guests. Google maps wanted to bring me right to the tower, and parking was not where it was supposed to be according to the map. That said, it wasn’t a far walk so it seemed right anyway, though there weren’t many spots and the one we got was a tight fit. Bathrooms were at the parking lot which was great, and clean, but after that, signage was terrible. You have to access the ramp up to the treetop wall at a very specific point which is in the center of the glass buildings. The other trails go to various other attractions I suppose, such as the playground at the exit for the treetop walk. If you buy your tickets online, you do NOT have to wait online, you just go up to the barcode scanner and hold your phone under the scanner and it will read it, even if it looks like it won’t. The actual walk itself was so fun, with lots of interesting things to look at along the way, and the view from the top was amazing, if it was a bit crowded up there. The playground was well worth the $20 for the family. Bring food and snacks unless you want to use vending machines. I saw people with beer too if you feel so inclined to BYOB! Everything was stroller friendly.

The view is just beautiful. Park around is very nice too. The entrance of the tower is paid (12,5 euros for adults), but you don't have to pay to visit park. There are two paid parkings. It's quite windy upstairs, be aware of that :)
Luxembourg American Cemetery is a small but well-maintained military cemetery in eastern Luxembourg near the airport. It contains the remains of 5075 US servicemen who died during World War II, including General George Patton, who played a key role in Luxembourg's 1944 liberation from Nazi occupation. The care that Allied forces have taken to maintain this hallowed ground is truly amazing.
This place is such a humbling place to visit and the care that our Allie’s from Luxembourg provide to this hallowed ground is simply amazing. This place is elegant, well maintained and truly honors those that gave their lives during WWII. It is a must see location if near the area. Famous American General George Patton is buried here as well.

Hope we remember ultimately the Liberties and freedoms we all enjoy were once again sustained and will always be. United we stand!

This is a beautiful cemetery by the airport I'd recommend for anyone interested in world war history. You'll find Patton's grave and five paratroopers from the 'Band of Brothers' here. It was moving to be here in the winter - the same timeframe many died in the Battle of the Bulge. It's accessible by bus if you're staying in central Luxembourg, but be aware that it's about a 15-20 minute walk (see pic) from the stop to the site. Be sure to stop in the office when you enter as well as they have many details about the cemetery.

We have visited the Cemetery with our children and had the most unwelcomed feeling. Firstly we were told that the children should not run around which I completely understand and accept but then the guard followed us all the way through like we were criminals. He didn't follow other visitors (which were very few). I have to add that the children were very well behaved all the way through. I believe the children should see and be told about our history from a young age on otherwise how will they learn? Besides this, the Cemetery is a glorious place of memory, very well maintained and curated.

We enjoyed our trip to the Luxembourg American Cemetery. It is a beautiful site, fit for our soldiers to rest. The well maintained property is peaceful and well cared for. We stopped in the visitor center first. They had multiple language brochures in a small but quaint well done prevention highlighting some of the individuals who are laid to rest on site.
We spent an hour here, if the weather had been better, we would have stayed two hours to walk around some more. The cemetery slopes down, so remember you are climbing out of where ever you end up.
We took public transportation to get there. We took the tram from the train station to Luxepo and then found the shuttle to the cemetery. That was the trickiest part. They drive a smaller van and leave on the hour. There isn't a sign and it's not on the screen, you need to go look for it and they come back about 30 minutes into the, go away and come back again. That's how we found them. It was a short comfortable drive and the van picked us up when they dropped on the hour about 5 minutes after.

We visited on a cloudy, cool, and breezy day. Perhaps, that made the experience more solemn. I was moved by the sight of the memorials and fields of grace markers, Crosses and Stars of David. It's a beautiful sight.

A great place to visit and be thankful for our freedom. This cemetery holds over 5000 American soldiers. Most died in WWII during the battle of the bulge. It also holds General Patton. He did not die at war but rather a car accident.
So many here that never made it home to the USA after the war yet they fought for the freedom we have every day. Thank you to all that serve.

here you can find the final resting place of general George Patton and also if your a band of brothers enthusiast, 5 soldiers from the easy company, 506th pir,101st abd
the grounds are well maintained and the visitor information center is very informative. unfortunately the luxembourg airport is nearby , so the silence can be disturbed by overhead planes taking off. there is plenty of parking and trails nearby. i do believe that there is free public transportation from luxembourg center that takes you to a stop nearby.

Great place to visit and pay your respects to our fallen. This is a very moving place. The staff is top notch and is very informative.
The Bock Casemates are an extensive network of underground tunnels and galleries that were constructed in 1644 as a part of the Fortress of Luxembourg. The fortress was built on the Bock promontory, which was chosen for its strategic location offering natural protection. Over the centuries, it was reinforced and attacked multiple times, and at its peak time showcased numerous forts across three fortified rings.
really cool and beautiful historic sight! i’m not big into walking but i really loved climbing and seeing everything. unfortunately the tours are closed unless you visit in the summer but i would absolutely come back to see inside. highly recommend and a must see even if you’re spending a short time in luxembourg! 🏰

It is a neat place to explore. If you have children, they will really enjoy the tunnels and it is pretty safe as well. The entrance says 45 minute time limit, but not sure how it is enforced. However, that much time is enough to see it all though.
You don’t really need to buy tickets in advance if you go midweek.

A great place to explore and lovely views. Would have liked some more information on certain parts but the leaflet was adequate. Nice to freely walk around at your leisure.

The Mother Nature give them advantages to have such a rocky place and situated exactly in the Center of the city. If you are a tourist and do not have a guide and plus you don’t speak French then it will be difficult to room around and find the spots you are looking for.
The city doesn’t offer free internet or there are some spots but very low signal so you have to have your own internet. There are less signs showing ways how to access the Touristik spots , so make sure to really pre plan all the steps of your trip on your own

Cool historic place to discover and stroll through on your own. Great views over Grund. Price seems very fair (8€). A few more signs and informative texts would have helped.

Fun stop with lots of history! Sold out online for days, but tickets were available for an entrance in an hour. Busy, but they do a good job of keeping the casements not overly busy. Don't miss the side route near the exit that goes under the road. Spiral stairs carved into the rock to the left of the steps up to the exit. It is a lot of steps...you've been warned! Down and then back up.

Very lovely and impressive views of the valley from the walls at the top and from the lookout points throughout. There is fascinating and multi layered history in the landmark, having served as a fortress for hundreds of years

Very beautiful and unusual. Be sure to visit the casemates, but do not go down the spiral stone staircase if you have poor physical fitness 😁. When you joyfully reach its end deep below, you will understand that the way out goes along the same steep endless steps, only up 😄. It was a great adventure

This is a World Heritage Site.
Luxembourg's old quarters and fortifications. The city itself was founded in 963 and has played a significant role in European history throughout the centuries.
We came during winter so weren't able to visit the tunnels but we were able to walk around the top parts and get some amazing views of the city.
This is a must if you are in Luxembourg.

The view is indeed beautiful and also a good place to get your excellent photos as well. The paid city tour bus starts from this point. Also this will be always quite crowded as it is a famous place to get that balcony view.

The place can be reached easily from Luxembourg station, it will drop you to the exact location, where you can easily roam around by foot & explore, click pictures etc. It has an ancient setup with information which you can read and understand. I believe you will need approx 2 to 3 hours to cover upstairs, downstairs and around if you want to cover completely and not rush but relax. When we went there the weather was a bit foggy and cold plus we had to catch our bus for Saarland within 2 hours so we rushed and did not cover full location. But I still enjoyed. Since it was November month, there were Christmas market also which all families were enjoying. Overall beautiful place with no public transport cost so worth visiting.

Pros: Great Views, and the permanent exhibition at the end of the walk is well-designed and quite enjoyable.
Cons: frankly speaking, the walk itself is long and …not as interesting as I thought.

I want to say that I live for 3 years in Luxembourg and only by mistake I discovered that we can visit the galleries.❤️🥰👏 The entrance is actually hidden underneath the little tower from Montee du Clausen (Casemates Memorial Point).
The experience was quite unique. The galeries are layered (I think) on two levels. The views over the city are special and magnificent (although in my case it was raining 🌧), because the viewpoints are unique🏞🏤. I loved also the light 💡efects inside the casemates. They give a special (modern and old) touch to the visit. You can also see these light efects 🪩 from Grund during the night 🌌.
The only thing that confused me a little bit was the fact that there were no signs ↗️(or a map) 🗺 to show the direction ➡️ of the visit, so I got a little bit lost 😆😁. There were galleries that i've seen twice. I estimate that, the duration of the visit 🕑 can vary between 30-45 minutes.
For me, the casemates are special and unique. I would love to see them again without any hesitation. ❤️🥰🤩

Great historical place. It's a must visit in Luxembourg. It is a huge underground complex built in 1644 and was used as a bomb shelter during WWII. It's huge and amazing. Lots of beautiful viewpoints. You need a minimum of an hour to explore the place. There is one section that is not mentioned in the booklet, it can be accessed through the stairs from the iron gate room. This section was really impressive and showed the depth of it. Going through each section and understanding the history behind it was fascinating. I recommend buying tickets in advance. Tickets can be bought at the ticket counter as well but they either sell out soon or you have to wait for your time slot. Another thing is it's a bit difficult to locate the entrance/ticket counter. Do carry a water bottle.
The Notre Dame Cathedral in Luxembourg is a beautiful Gothic cathedral that was built between 1613 and 1621. It features ornate columns and stained glass from the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as Neo-Gothic confessionals. This cathedral is a must-see for visitors to Luxembourg City.
Very beautiful cathedral, we were there in Easter Sunday it was not crowded, unfortunately we didn’t manage to see any ceremony, but still very impressed by the art and sculptures and architecture. You can feel the positive energy and definitely the best place to pray, meditate and light a candle

The cathedral is really beautiful. We visited Luxembourg during New Year's and we were able to visit the mass as well. The gothic architecture and pretty indoors are just something to look at over and over. They also decorated the church for the occasion.

The position on Google seems wrong as the Cathedral is right behind "Le Ministère de la digitalisation"
Follow the signage on the street instead of Google and you will find it.
Opening schedule seems also wrong on Google as it's open on Sunday (from 10am to 7pm if I am correct) while Google mentioned otherwise.
If you aim to visit the Crypt, please note that schedules are slightly different than the cathedral.
Aim for mid day and you should be fine

I cannot remember this church ever closing.
Well, maybe when someone important gets married, baptized, or dies. I make it a point to stop by to light a candle for loved ones when I’m in the city. It’s certainly a place to visit if you want to cool down from the heat and don’t want to sit at a cafe feeling more warm and several euros poorer. The cathedral is clean, quiet, free, and beautiful IMO even though I do not know a lot about architecture medieval, modern, or what have you.

A peaceful and beautiful structure with many stained glass windows and large and tall inside. Take note that the location is different to where Google Maps is pointing this. It is near the City Museum up the hill. A good place to take a break whilst exploring and free entry too!

The cathedral is big but not decorated as much as similar ones in other cities. The altar is simple and the glazed painted windows attracts your eye. You cannot tour yourself when worship takes place and even when it doesn't, you should be extra careful not to disturb prayers. Do not forget to check the crypt.
Vianden Castle is a hilltop fortress that was erected between the 11th and 14th centuries. It presently houses exhibits on medieval history. Its unique design is the result of extensive restoration efforts in the 20th century, following its complete destruction. Visitors can explore different historical periods, from Roman times to the present day, through walkways on lower levels. The open-air Byzantine Hall and Gothic polygonal chapel with a central well are notable features of this castle.
Nice place for a one day trip. You can easily get there by car and park for free in front of the castle or park in the town near the river and get there by the lift. It costs 7.50€ for both ways and 5 for a one way ticket. The castle is easily manageable for 1 hour and one can get an audio guide for a low price.

Petting the castle’s chickens absolutely made my day. The chickens are so calm and friendly. The castle is interesting and we were all done within 2 hours. The cafe has a selection of pastries, drinks, and soup. We had soup, ice cream and eclair. There is a free toilet at the entrance and a bigger free restroom upstairs in the castle. There was plenty of parking when we arrived at 10am on a Saturday. It filled up when we left around 12:30pm. It costs 1€/hour and you walk strenuously uphill about 5 minutes to get to the castle. Card is accepted at the kiosk farther back in the parking lot. Press the white button on the kiosk for how many hours you want (press multiple times for more hours), then press the green button, and then hold your card up to pay. It was tricky to use.

This castle is one of our favorites! The town is lovely and the castle is well restored. You can see some of the older foundations and several of the rooms are staged as they would have been when the castle was in use. The tour flies will and there are so many great views. A must-see in Luxembourg!

Vianden Castle is a medieval fortress located in Vianden, Luxembourg. The Castle is located at an elevated hill visible to the road. It stands majestically overlooking the picturesque town of Vianden and the Our River. Te castle offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The location is very easy to find, and so is parking and entrance. Inside you may buy tickets, and also seek assistant of a tour guide or audio tour subject to relevant charges. Inside of it are the models, plans and diagram of the Castle in different ages.
The castle has a rich history dating back over a thousand years and showcases a blend of Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles. It's one of the largest and most well-preserved castles in Luxembourg, attracting visitors from around the world to explore its impressive battlements, towers, and inner courtyards.

What i did not like, the audio guide was not loud enough in hallways, - app would have been a wiser choice
If you have a stroller, be sure you get well trained in you gym before the visit.
Many interesting parts were barricaded, and no one could access.
The view from far away - outside was stunning.

This is a must see in every trip to Luxembourg. The castle is in great condition and it has great infrastructure. Unlike Larochette, you must pay for parking (it was 2 euros for 3 hours) and visit to the castle (10 euros per adult). It was worth it! The visit took around an hour and we had a snack in the castle’s restaurant. The prices there was fair and the food was delicious. Every room of the castle is worth visiting. Even the tavern can be visited. Great visit through and through.

Visiting the castle in Vianden was an unforgettable experience for me. The castle is one of the most beautiful and largest monuments of Romanesque-Gothic architecture in Europe. It was built on the site of a former Roman watchtower, and for centuries was the seat of the Dukes of Vianden and the Nassau family. The castle has many interesting halls and rooms that can be explored on your own or with an audio guide. I admired, among others a Byzantine gallery, a banquet hall with tapestries, a bedroom and a banquet room with a fireplace. On the information boards you can learn many interesting facts about the history of the castle and its inhabitants. The castle was restored in the 1970s and is now open to the public.
Visiting the castle was not only a history lesson, but also an opportunity to admire the beautiful views of the town of Vianden and the Our River valley. From the castle terrace you can see picturesque landscapes, charming houses and the church of St. Trinity. You can also use the cable car that connects the castle with the city centre. It's a great way to see the area from a different perspective.
Vianden Castle is a place I recommend to anyone who likes history, architecture and beautiful nature. It's the perfect place to spend a few hours or the whole day. I am very pleased with my visit and will definitely return.

We spent about 3 hours exploring the castle/palace, taking photos, soaking up the history, reading all interpretive signs and watching the fabulous movie.

How amazing it is to be able to relive the history of this palace.
The castle is about 1 hour by car from Luxembourg city.
The tickets are 10 euros for adults and 2 euros for an audio guide. Since the guide ( handheld , not an earphone / headphone ) can be heard , 2-3 people can share 1.
There was no wait. The audio was very detailed and it was lovely to share the fragments of historical essence as we walked past each room. The large kitchen was my favorite as well as the banquet hall.
I was completely mesmerized by the sheer grandeur of the bedroom, banquet hall and the history behind the Vianden Castle.
We are so glad that we decided to make this decision to go and visit this. Absolutely a must visit 🙂

Beautiful castle on hill top. The bus stops on the bottom of the hill so there is a 10-15 min walk up with some nice cafes along the way. The castle is located approx 1 hour from the Luxembourg city. But worth the drive. You will encounter amazing scenes on the way. They have a parking available, but it is limited. You can get an audio guide for yourself in the language you prefer .castle is not very big in itself. But still it will take one hour for you to visit completely. They have a cafeteria in the beginning in case you are hungry. The staff is very helpful if you need anything. there are explanations everywhere so if you want, you don’t need to buy an audio guide

Wow, what a blast from the past! Our last visit here was way back in 2014, and it's crazy how my oldest son still remembers every detail from when he was just 3,5 years old. This castle is like the VIP spot for tourists in Luxembourg, and it's easy to see why.
The ticket prices won't break the bank either: €10 for adults, €2.5 for kids, and €5 for students with a valid student card.
They've got these handy information devices at the counter, and you can choose your language preference, so you won't miss a beat. We opted for the Scan Me app, scanning barcodes at each site for all the juicy details. Saved me from trying to recall everything back at the hotel. You know how it is with kids at museums, patience is definitely not their strong suit 😂.
Walking through history here is a real treat, especially witnessing the castle's evolution over the centuries, from the 11th to the 14th. No wonder it's earned its spot as one of CNN's 21 most beautiful castles in the world.
But let's talk about the real MVP: the cafeteria. Don't leave without trying their signature soup, Bouneschlupp. It's a hearty green bean soup with potatoes and onions (they even do a mean vegetarian version).
Don't miss out on the souvenir area either, because what's a trip without some cheesy memorabilia, am I right?
Pro tip: Take some time to wander the charming village of Vianden surrounding the castle, those picturesque houses are Instagram-worthy 😉.

An amazing part of the Maginot line where the defenders held till their last. We stumbled upon driving from bouillon to stennay and what a find it was. The cemetery which contains the defenders is across the road from the memorial adjoined to the Fort.
Andy Cambridge — Google review
What an amazing place! Highly recommend this to anyone interested in World War 2. . As one of the western-most placements of the Maginot Line in France, the story of how all the men perished here is as heartbreaking as any other war story. There is a very long, strenuous stair case to go down (and then UP), but take your time, it is all part of the story of this place. We had not booked ahead, but a young staff member gave us a two hour tour and since we were a small family group of English speakers, he used English and was superb! One of the only places where you can touch and feel remnants of the War. If travelling through this part of France, make a detour to this site, it is worth every bit of time.

A sad place as with all war cemeteries. Such a lot all died on the same day, overcome by fumes in tunnels they had spent 3 years building. Need to book the tours they do to the underground passages to enjoy the place. They only do them for pre booked groups.

This is an amazing place to visit. Anyone remotely interested in military history would really enjoy a visit here. Apart from a very well preserved Maginot line fort, there’s also a story attached. Regrettably, there was not a good outcome for the soldiers who served here. You will have to visit to find out the full story.
The cost is a very reasonable €8 per adult and the tour is guided. They do tours in English but only for groups. We went with a French – speaking guide and were given some information sheets in English to take on the tour. These were sufficient to get a good appreciation of the fort.
The engineering and ingenuity in designing and building these forts is incredible considering the most are around 100 years old.
If you visit and like this fort, be sure to visit the bigger ones a little further south. In particular, Hackenberg and Schoenenbourg.

Located in Bastogne, the Mardasson Memorial is a striking tribute to American soldiers who were injured or lost their lives during the Battle of the Bulge. Designed by architect Georges Dedoyard, this imposing structure takes the form of a 12-meter tall five-pointed American star with points extending 31 meters and a central atrium measuring 20 meters in diameter. The memorial offers fantastic panoramic views of the battle areas and features informative maps detailing the movements of German and Allied forces.
The Mardasson Memorial in Bastogne is a deeply moving tribute to the heroes of World War II. Standing atop a hill, the monument's grandeur and symbolism are awe-inspiring. The museum exhibits offer a comprehensive and emotional journey through the Battle of the Bulge. The memorial's serene surroundings and panoramic views make it a place for reflection and remembrance. A must-visit for history enthusiasts and anyone seeking to honor the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought for freedom.

The Bastogne War Museum is a contemporary museum that offers an interactive experience focused on WWII and specifically the Battle of the Bulge. The audio guide features four different voices from civilian and military witnesses/participants, while an informative summary presents the war's context and key stages. The museum also boasts a 15-minute 3D film that provides a unique perspective on Germany's early attacks.
A historic place that if you are in or near Bastogne you will want to take the time to visit. The museum is under a renovation period so checkout the website to ensure you will be able to visit the museum. You can reflect on those who gave all and honor their memory.

After encountering so many world war 2 monuments within Luxembourg I wanted to know more about what exactly happened here during world war 2. And this museum came highly recommended, it didn't disappoint not one bit. It left me cold with goose bumps about the stories that where told through an audio headpiece. And through the myriad of infographics pictures etc.

Visiting the Bastogne War Museum was an incredibly moving and enlightening experience that left an indelible mark on my understanding of World War II. From the moment I stepped into the museum, I was immersed in a meticulously curated journey through history.
The exhibits are a testament to the museum's dedication to accuracy and detail. The multimedia presentations and interactive displays provided a deep insight into the challenges faced during the Battle of the Bulge. The use of cutting-edge technology, combined with authentic artifacts, created a powerful and evocative narrative that transported me back to that pivotal moment in time.
The layout of the museum is both engaging and thoughtfully designed, guiding visitors through the various stages of the battle. The personal stories of soldiers and civilians, shared through letters, photographs, and firsthand accounts, added a human dimension to the historical events, making them resonate on a profoundly emotional level.
The Bastogne War Museum also pays tribute to the sacrifices made by those who fought and the civilians affected by the conflict. The memorial space is a solemn and respectful area, allowing visitors to reflect on the gravity of the historical events and the enduring impact on the lives of those involved.
The museum staff demonstrated a genuine passion for their work, offering valuable insights and assistance throughout my visit. Their commitment to preserving and sharing this important history was evident in every aspect of the museum.
In conclusion, the Bastogne War Museum is not just a museum; it's a living testament to the courage, resilience, and sacrifices of those who lived through the Battle of the Bulge. It is a must-visit for anyone seeking a profound and educational experience that transcends the pages of history books.

Perhaps one of the most beautiful museums ever visited. Actually it's not only a museum, it's the history lived and described by four different people who lived those troubled times: a US soldier, a German officer, a young teacher from Bastogne and a child from Bastogne. A very, very touching experience, especially for someone who's grandfather fought in WWII. Many thanks to the organizers and management of the museum, this is truly an unique and brilliant way to show the history. You deserve 10 stars, not only 5, well done!!

Excellent museum, focusing on the battle of the Bulge. You get a headset at the reception that leads you through the museum and tells the story from four different perspectives. This includes eloborate moving dioramas and many artifacts and vehicles. Tour is available in English, German, French and Dutch and probably more languages. Staff is helpful, and the cafetaria and book shop are nice.

Excellent museum, one of the best I've ever been too. Everything is explained in multiple languages (English, French, German and Dutch). The exhibit covers pre-WW2, WW2, and post WW2. It's very moving at times. My whole family enjoyed it, even the teenagers! If you are in the area, you must visit!

Emma is very friendly. My audio didn't work and she back and forwards 3x for me. And she explain teh details about the coding machine and gave us suggestions not to miss the AR experience at outside. Need to drive 10 minutes to the real location partial of the defense line.
It was very interesting museum and we love the short movie and exhibits.

One of the best museums for WWII, I have ever visited. Congratulations. The view from the site is also amazing. Keeps the interest even for the kids.

We've been to various museums, but this one in Bastogne beats them all. Museum from the top, interactive, makes you feel the atmosphere of those days! I recommend it to everyone, even those who are not interested in history too much. A great piece of history! I recommend!

A very unique take on the museum experience, it's more like a story to walk though with multiple short movies to watch between the larger halls and spoken explanation by the characters from the story telling there views and experiences about the battle.

If you like Band of Brothers, then this is a must. So much history and so many things that make you just realize the resiliency of the allies and of the American soldiers. The spaghetti carbonera at the restaurant was excellent. The rest of the food we ate was meh. But that spaghetti carbonera...

I spent about 2 hours here. It was a very enlightening and many storys that where personal and there telling extended long into the tour.
One thing I particularly enjoyed, was that I could go in my own pace and even go back to a exhibitions, if I felt like it.
I would recommend anyone to go that is into history.

We visited this place on Sunday. The museum is very interesting and engaging. Do not miss out three separate immersive mini-cinema like shows that reflected different periods of the war. And after the main visit, “Generations 45” was a very nice addition to connect the war to our modern day periods. Museum is able to capture both the facts and details of the war in massive scale and how this war affected the lives of simple, ordinary people.

A must-see for the American history buff. The museum is larger than it seems. You can rush through it in a couple hours, but could easily spend 3-4. There is an elevator to make things accessible.

Well done museum. Lots of photos to read about but the audio tour explains the war from the perspective of 4 people: child, school teacher, US soldier and a German soldier. Brings it to life. Also visited the Fox hole area, download the app noted on a sign in the parking lot before walking into the trees. Free WiFi in the lot. Worth being where the fighting took place.

The Bastogne War Museum is an extraordinary testament to the valor, sacrifice, and resilience of the soldiers and civilians who endured the hardships of World War II. Visiting this museum was an emotionally moving and educational experience.
The museum's design and layout are impeccable, guiding visitors through the chronology of events leading up to the historic Battle of the Bulge. The interactive exhibits, life-sized dioramas, and audio-visual presentations offered a truly immersive experience, making the past come alive. From the onset, I felt a deep sense of respect and admiration for the brave souls who faced unimaginable challenges during the war.
The vast collection of artifacts, personal belongings, and authentic military equipment further enriched the experience. Each item told a unique story, giving a glimpse into the lives of those who fought and the civilians affected by the conflict. I was particularly moved by the personal accounts and letters displayed, which revealed the human side of war.
The highlight of my visit was the recreated underground bunker, where I could almost feel the tension and fear that soldiers experienced during the battle. It was a humbling experience, reminding me of the importance of remembering history and its lessons for the future.
The museum staff deserves special praise for their knowledge and dedication. They were friendly, approachable, and eager to answer questions, making the tour even more engaging.
The Bastogne War Museum not only commemorates the sacrifices made during the war but also emphasizes the importance of peace and understanding. As I walked through the grounds, I couldn't help but reflect on the futility of war and the need for global unity.
Whether you are a history enthusiast, a student, or just curious about the past, the Bastogne War Museum is a must-visit destination. It leaves an indelible mark on your heart and mind, and you'll walk away with a renewed appreciation for the peace we enjoy today.
If you find yourself in this part of the world, don't miss the opportunity to pay homage to the heroes of the past and gain a deeper understanding of the events that shaped our world. I will forever cherish the memories and lessons I took away from this extraordinary museum.
The Old Market in Leuven is a buzzing, tree-shaded town square lined with open-air bars and restaurants in ornate gabled mansions. La Oude Markt, c'est place to be for a snack at the student atmosphere. It's filled with bars and cafés, so we'd gone to Bar 9 on recommendation from an old student louvaniste: apparently they have some of the best cocktails!
Used to live near by. It's changed a lot in the last few years but still remains beautiful place for a drink or food

Beautiful old square with plenty of cafes, bars and places to eat. Reduced services and number of places open on a Sunday so it’s best to go on a Saturday when the town square is active and full of life.
Wear comfortable shoes, the cobblestones can be lethal for your feet!

Totally beautiful this place, surrounded by the old unique buildings typical European style. And it's considered to have a longest bar in the world here. In the evening, the restaurants and bars will be all opened, so make sure come early otherwise full.

Vibrant square with dozens of varied pubs and bars, and a couple of spots to eat. Definitely come for a drink in the sun if you are visiting Leuven in the summer.

The place is phenomenal. Cafe places are crowded, but they are very lovely. You can find everything over there: cafe places, restaurants, fast food, bars.. etc. It is better to walk around.. don't rely on a car because some streets are very narrow and cars are not allowed there. If you are looking for history, entertainment, and fun time. This is the best place

The buildings are beautiful, but the center is in fact very small. The biggest problem is that it's almost impossible to find a parking spot. I guess the best option is to come by train.

Such a pretty square with bars, restaurants and cafes all around its perimeter. It seems to be mostly a place for evening and late night and I've noticed a younger crowd. It is central and all around it there are shops, more restaurants and cafes, and fast food chains.
You won't find parking in the center of Leuven because it's mostly pedestrian so I suggest walking/riding or taking the bus. There are underground parking garages right on the outskirt though but I think public transportation is the best bet.

My husband and I stopped for lunch in our way from Amsterdam to Brussels. Very cute market square with shops, cafes and beautiful architecture. While enjoying our lunch we witnessed 2 weddings at the church! We visited on a Saturday afternoon on a beautiful July day. We enjoyed beer and wine along with good food (schnitzel) outside on the patio at Reubens. The staff was pleasant and we very little issues with language. We spent about $60 euros on lunch.
