Frankfurt Zoological Garden is a large zoo that features exotic animals from all over the world, including some of the most popular such as zebras, lions, and monkeys. The zoo also has an extensive collection of plant life and offers plenty of activities for visitors such as animal feedings and guided tours.
Must to be visited if you're in Frankfurt, especially with the children. Zoo itself mostly looks like a big park. If would be better to do it during the sunny days, son you fully enjoy your visit.
Again, labels and boards with explanation of the animals, insects, reptiles on German only.
Try to get a face mask on you before entering or get the one it at the main entrance - mandatory when visiting "apes world" - otherwise precise Germans will remind you about it every 3rd step while inside.

I visited Zoo Frankfurt with my 2 1/2 year old son. We enjoyed seeing the nice variety of animals and the facilities were fairly clean. We were able to find ample parking at a nearby parking garage. Unlike several of the zoos we have been to, most of the exhibits were hard for our 2 1/2 year old son to see on his own. The viewing glass was often too high for him and I would have to hold him. Also the glass in most of the exhibits were hard to see through. These were the only two downsides to the zoo and other than that, we enjoyed our time there.

Very nice zoo to visit especially with kids, saw my favorite animal the rhino. But some animals are missing one early day visit is enough to see the whole zoo. And don't miss the midget goat farm where you can pet the goats

AWFUL ZOO!!! If anyone likes or loves animals - you shouldn't visit. In my opinion, it's ANIMAL ABUSE. The animals are in the worst conditions I've ever seen: small cages, not enough greenery if at all!!!! The monkeys are sitting on the concrete floor in a tiny cage, the rhinoceros' bones are seen through it's skin, he was so skinny. The food that was given to the monkeys was wheat. In order to be healthy, monkeys have to eat fruit and veggies. I am a person that loves animals, and I wanted to cry. I think animal rights organization has to be involved.

5 stars despite no lions and one house temporarily closed. The rest of the zoo made up for it. Good sized enclosures. Healthy animals. Fascinating aquarium. Seeing penguins from under water a special experience.
Richard Leathem — Google review
Nice place. But not so many options. Whatever they have, most of them are either sleeping or at their home. Cannot be visible!.
But nice place for recreation.
Thouhedul Islam Suchi — Google review
Amazing to see a zoo maintained in the middle of such a busy City. Had reasonably good collection of animals. But the cages are built to provide closer to natural ambiance for the animals that in several cages the animals are probably inside their resting area that they are not visible for visitors. From the animals point of view it is good for them that they are not disturbed too much. But from visitors point of view it might be disappointment that we could not see some of them. Also the water in the reservoirs are not that clean. Though it was really good some thing was not giving me full satisfaction to give a 4 or 5 start. This is probably the first time I see a zoo having ants, fly, several varieties of rates and bats. Highlights are Penguins, apes and reptiles house.

My visit to Frankfurt Zoo in 2014 was an exceptional experience that left me thoroughly impressed and delighted. This zoo is a true gem, offering a perfect blend of conservation, education, and entertainment for visitors of all ages.
The wide variety of animal species and the well-designed enclosures created an immersive and authentic experience. It was evident that the zoo's focus on animal welfare and conservation was a top priority, as the animals seemed content and well-cared for in their naturalistic habitats.
One of the highlights was the Grzimek House, where I had the incredible opportunity to witness a vibrant ecosystem with free-flying birds, wandering reptiles, and curious mammals living together harmoniously. This unique exhibit was a fantastic educational experience that showcased the interconnectedness of different species.
The zoo's dedication to education was evident through informative signage and interactive displays, allowing visitors to learn about the animals' behaviors, habitats, and the importance of conservation efforts. Additionally, the friendly and knowledgeable staff was readily available to answer questions and share their passion for wildlife.
The family-friendly atmosphere, including playgrounds and picnic areas, made it a great place for a day of fun and exploration. The zoo's convenient location in the heart of Frankfurt also added to the overall convenience of the visit.
Frankfurt Zoo truly exceeded my expectations, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city. It's a place where both children and adults can connect with nature and wildlife, fostering a sense of appreciation for the natural world and the need for its preservation. A five-star experience all the way!

The location is easily reachable by train.
It has variety of animals. Some of them are placed inside of some building and some of them are placed outside.
I was happy because I was lucky enough to see 2 tortoise mating in real life. 🤣🤣🤣
Sitia Lestari — Google review
It was a nice zoo! I went during winter so I didn't expect all the animals to be out, but there were definitely a lot of really good exhibits and a lot of animals that you can still see. It only costs about 12€.
Thomas Berry — Google review
What an amazing zoo! My teenage son and I spent 4 hours exploring the zoo and enjoyed it. We arrived right at opening time on a Saturday and it was not too busy. There are so many areas to walk and there is a playground for the kids as well!
10/10 would recommend visiting and spending a few hours there.
The gift shop and snack stands are great and reasonably priced. Tickets can be purchased online or in person.

The zoom is worth the money. There is no need to book the ticket online; they will give you a one-euro deduction with the one-day travel pass.

Frankfurt Cathedral is a beautiful and imposing cathedral located in the heart of the city. The cathedral was built in a medieval gothic style, and its impressive decoration represents a marvelous architectural and artistic accomplishment. It is a must-see for visitors and locals alike, who will be amazed by the grandeur and majestic decoration of this historic religious site.
Gothic architecture at its finest, I couldn’t get enough of any view of Frankfurt that includes this amazing cathedral! The interior is not as impressive, but still beautiful. In the entrance you ‘ll also read about the church and old town during WWII, so interesting. I don’t know if any visits up the tower are permitted, but I ‘ll love to climb up there next time I’m in Frankfurt!

Frankfurt Cathedral, also known as the Cathedral of Saint Bartholomew, is an architectural masterpiece that should not be missed by anyone visiting Frankfurt. Located in the heart of the city, this stunning Gothic cathedral is a testament to the ingenuity and craftsmanship of its builders.
Upon entering the cathedral, one is immediately struck by the soaring heights of the nave, which is supported by a series of graceful arches. The stained glass windows, which depict scenes from the Bible, are a particularly striking feature, casting a warm glow over the interior of the cathedral.
In addition to its architectural beauty, the cathedral is also home to a number of important works of art, including several statues and paintings by notable artists. The altar, in particular, is a work of art in its own right, adorned with intricate carvings and gold leaf.
Overall, Frankfurt Cathedral is a must-see for anyone interested in architecture or art. Its beauty and grandeur are truly breathtaking, and it serves as a testament to the enduring power of faith. Whether you are a tourist or a local, I highly recommend paying a visit to this stunning cathedral

Beautiful architecture inside and out. You can enter the church for free, recommended donation if you want to light a candle. If you want to climb the steps to the top, there’s a freestanding ticket booth outside the church on the side closest to the river (opposite side from the church entrance). Once you pay, there’s a small wooden door to the spiral steps and you’re in your way to an incredible view 300+ steps above the ground.
Know that it’s a narrow spiral stone staircase most of the time. The outer wall has a metal handrail and the inner wall has a rope handrail that is pulled taut (close enough to the stone that my mom broke her nail on the stone wall while clutching it for dear life lol). Some sections have small windows and/or lights near the ceiling but the steps are still rather dark in most places so I used my phone’s flashlight the entire climb so we didn’t miss a step. If you come across other people going in the other direction, someone will have to stop because it is extremely narrow. At the top you can walk the perimeter of the tower. There’s fencing and I felt safe even with high winds, stone benches built into the tower, and small trash bins at the top. Happy climbing!

Make the most of your layover by taking an Uber to the old part of town and visiting this spectacular cathedral. Buy a ticket for a couple of euros and go up the tower for a 360 view of the city. (Believe me, if I can do it, you can definitely climb those many many stairs up to the very top) After the climb, it’s time to enter the cathedral. I found it to be the perfect blend of clean lines of the building which highlight the sculptures. Found the atmosphere inside to be peaceful and serene. Don’t miss the hidden chapel behind the quiet room. The small museum in the building is also worth a visit.

I thought that this was a reconstruction but it’s actually the real Cathedral of Frankfurt. It was spared during the WWII bombing.
From the outside seems impressive, but once you get inside you will realize it’s actually smaller than you thought.
Great visit!

Looking for a breathtaking and awe-inspiring destination in Frankfurt? Then be sure to check out the magnificent Frankfurt Cathedral! This beautiful church is one of the city's most iconic landmarks and is definitely not to be missed. This is one place that you won't want to miss during your visit to Frankfurt! This absolutely stunning and gorgeous church is right in the heart of Frankfurt.

An oldest Catholic Church in the center of the City Frankfurt. With a beautiful architecture so spacious and good ventilation. The Cathedral is the only building that survived from bombing attack in the second world War. The statues and the station of the cross and all the interior of the church is very beautiful. So refreshing and spiritually refreshing. A place worth visiting.

A beautiful cathedral that somehow survived the flattening of Frankfurt in WWII.
The soaring columns feels like you're in a forest of giant trees. The organ is absolutely gorgeous.

Very interesting cathedral. You can walk all the way up and get the 360 view. Beautiful church restored after WW2.

If you are looking for a fantastic view of Frankfurt, make sure to visit the spire of the cathedral. It is quite a walk up there, but it is worth the effort. However, you won't be able to go to the very top.
If you want to get that special view, you need to book a tour into the roof. On this tour they also take you to the very top of the spire where you will find a little museum and a view that very few people have seen. You will also get to see the Gloriana, the bell of the cathedral. With 11.950 kg it is a heavy-weight and you might even be allowed to hit it once (As I was allowed.)
The tour is incredible, but it is only offered a few times a year and you have to book a long time in advance. Ask at the ticket counter.
Marc Remus — Google review
Not the most beautiful or impressive cathedral in Europe, but well worth a visit. It certainly has one of the more interesting organs around, with the organ pipes being all-over. It is good that the dome is very regularly used for its intended cause, which however means that tourists need to time their visit well if they just want to have a look, without participating in a church service.
Thomas Meyer — Google review
Amazing cathedral. There was a baptism going on when I was there. The organ was playing. How beautiful! I felt at peace inside. The sounds and the sites were glorious.
Joanna Ferguson — Google review
An absolute must if in Frankfurt. The architecture is truly amazing and will leave you open mouthed in awe. It's busy but you can still find a quiet place of contemplation and prayer.
There are numerous beautiful alters, shrines, artworks and more. And the intricate ceilings are fantastic.
It's really easy to find as it towers above old town. So you can't really miss it. Free entry for the main building.
The viewpoint allows you to see the whole city and provides some truly astonishing views. It's only 3 euros to access but be warned there are hundreds of narrow stairs with and it's very difficult to cross paths with someone.
Joe Macpherson — Google review
I did not visit all the way inside. It requires ticket and need to purchase in advance (recommended) if you plan to spend 2-3 hours during your visit. I visited front entrance place and seemed good.

We were at the New Old Town and saw this cathedral from afar and it beckoned us so we made our way to it.
The red stone looks really amazing in the light. We climbed up to the tower, all 350 steps. The way up can be quite narrow at some parts and can get rather claustrophobic. But, the view upstairs is beautiful andworth the climb!
Natalie lim — Google review
Very interesting cathedral. You can walk all the way up and get the 360 view. There are many stairs, it seems endless like my efforts to have a successful gambling session. But eventually the pain and stairs end as I hope for my losing streak.
Johnny G — Google review
Absolutely amazing cathedral near the East side of the old town, you can see this amazing architecture from a few distance. No problem to get inside, however, may be dependant on time - there some areas tourists are not allowed in, so be wary.
Mat Bienczyk — Google review
Beautiful architectural and religious piece of art. Important to know that this site was the location where German kings used to be crowned. A large part of this cathedral and all surroundings was rebuilt after massive destruction during WW II, so I understand that not much of it remains in original state.
Ramiro Oviedo-Paulauski — Google review
Very cool looking cathedral.
It kind of looks like it's burnt with the unique color choice.
It's a near the water edge, so it's very easily accessible. Really a must see if you visit Frankfurt.
The Iron Footbridge over the Main is a historic landmark that spans the river between the heart of Frankfurt and Sachsenhausen, immortalized in paintings by German artist Max Beckmann. The bridge has been rebuilt twice, most recently after World War II when it was blown up by Nazis. The iron and concrete design is elegant and best viewed at sunset.
This bridge has gorgeous views of the river and the buildings that line each side of the river. There's also restaurants and bars on either side of the bridge that are only a short walk away from the entrance. The bridge also has "love locks" from couples all along the bridge so it's a great option to take a date and do something romantic! You can also bring beers as you walk along the bridge.
It's pretty cold walking across the bridge in the winter, so I would recommend to wear warm clothing and definitely bring some gloves!
David Dennison — Google review
This iconic bridge not only serves as a vital transportation link but also offers a unique perspective of the city's skyline and the scenic Main River. I would like to express my utmost admiration for the Iron Footbridge and highlight its positive aspects.
The location of the Iron Footbridge is also worth mentioning. It connects two vibrant neighborhoods, offering a convenient and picturesque pathway for pedestrians and cyclists. The views from the bridge are breathtaking, providing panoramic vistas of the Frankfurt skyline, with its impressive skyscrapers and architectural landmarks.
Walking across the Iron Footbridge allows you to appreciate the beauty of the Main River and the surrounding landscapes. Whether it's a sunny day with clear blue skies or a romantic evening with the city lights illuminating the river, the bridge provides a captivating setting that is perfect for capturing memorable photographs or simply enjoying a peaceful moment.
In conclusion, the Iron Footbridge in Frankfurt is a magnificent structure that seamlessly blends functionality, aesthetics, and historical significance. It not only serves as a vital link between neighborhoods but also provides a captivating experience for those who cross it. Whether you're a history enthusiast, an architecture lover, or simply seeking a picturesque route to explore Frankfurt, the Iron Footbridge is a must-visit destination that promises to leave a lasting impression.

The love lock bridge has to be one of the most romantic spots after sunset here in Frankfurt - though I have read how such tons and tons of locks being placed on bridges around the world actually pose a real risk to the bridge. What’s more interesting is the sight of the city from both sides of the bridge and the cruises on river Rhine - a sight to behold to round up the tour in Frankfurt.

The Love Lock Bridge-----must see across the Main river. Smaller foot bridge with locks lining both sides of the bridge. Locks which supposedly symbolize " everlasting" love.

Nice to walk on during the night to see the city lights over the water. Nothing much to do around though but good to visit for a short stay. Looks good for pictures and photography. Theres also a lift to go up.
The Romer, a medieval building with a stepped gable facade, is now the town hall with a balcony and many portraits. The building has served as Frankfurt's main city hall for 600 years.
The beautiful and picturesque old town is a must visit when in Frankfurt! Amazing half-timbered buildings that were once completely destroyed by Allied powers’ bombings during WWII, now rebuilt to their full glory! Drink your coffee or beer in one of the numerous cafes and beer houses on the square, admire the architecture, take photos and travel back in time with your imagination! 100% recommended!

Its nice - the only thing to see in frankfurt really, although none of it’s original of course - the entire city burnt down during the war. I guess that’s why there’s about 5 tourists in the entire city. Anyways, if you are visiting there’s like 1 tourist shop and a few cafes to outside in. The little church is super plain inside and not really worth going in

The extension built in 2012 by architecture firm Schneider + Schumacher allowed for greater space to be dedicated to the museum's collection, which spans 700 years of European art.
Huge museum with lots of the Master's best works of art. Everything from Van Gogh and Picasso and Botticelli to Rodin, Renoir and everything in between!
Truly wonderful museum!

If you're an art enthusiast and love artworks from the high renaissance era, then this place is for you. At the basement, it's a vast space for contemporary art. You can stay there the whole day and enjoy all the paintings. It's a pretty relaxing place. You won't get bored going around. 👌👌👌

Two logistics points: 1) There’s a great deal in the form of a 21 euro ticket, good for 30+ museums and two days. If it fits your schedule, it’s a great deal. Ask at the ticket desk to see the museums included. I bought the 16 euro single-day single-museum ticket and only then learned about the 21 euro version. Too late to exchange, as I was told.
2) The self service lockers will are big enough for most backpacks and jackets, though not suitcases (use the manned coat room right next to the lockers, also for free). Some lockers take only 1 euro coins, some take either 1 or 2 euro coins. You get the coin back when you unlock and leave.

It's a great museum. Very complete and has some beautiful pieces. It would be nice if they made the android audioguide for the Renoir exhibit available on android or through html5 on their website.

I have absolutely no talent in Art or know how to appreciate it but visited Stadel Museum as it was supposed to house works from the very best artists. I wandered around the building and was thoroughly impressed with the gorgeous building and also the large variety of beautiful works (of different categories) kept in pristine condition! Just amazing….

A very nice place with a huge art collection. Recommended for any art lover, with very detailed descriptions of the painting and the artist's life when creating works that go far into the past to the present day. The ticket price is 18 euros.

Stadel Museum in Frankfurt is a must for art and design enthusiasts. The interior is gorgeous and creates a perfect flow through the art pieces. From classical to contemporary, the selection is fantastic. I spent four hours there without realizing it. Highly recommended.

Very nice museum for whoever is interested in fine art, make sure to come here a little early, there are quite a few paintings to go through and read about!

One of the best museums we ever visited, particularly because of the well written explanations provided next to the paintings. These were really special compared to other museums and provided valuable information to understand the painting, the story behind it and the background of the painter.
Additionally, there's a free audioguide app (covering some of the most important works) with additional detail.

Many of the great classic painters have pieces here. Enjoyed walking through but some rooms were so stifling hot that it was hard to want to stop and take in the art.

An amazing discovery.
This museum offers a wonderful walk through among art over 8 centuries of history from medieval art, through renaissance, modern art till contemporary one.
A special highlight goes to the very interesting and cared temporary exhibitions.
Very well organised as well regarding services, accessibility and didactic areas.
Absolutely recommended

A wonderful art museum. The collection is not too big, but it's magnificent (there are works by Picasso, Monet, Renoir, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Degas and so many more)! Add to that fact that it's not overcrowded, so you can take your time in admiring the work of arts spanning 7 centuries with leisure. I would say for sure a must-visit place in Frankfurt if you love art!

A beautiful art museum with over 700 years of artwork. There were many seats throughout the museum with books to look through with even more art. Tuesdays offer a discounted rate for tickets.

Very helpful staff. Normal price for an entrance fee to a museum like this one. Well maintained and just enough to see that it isn't too long you're dying and want to leave or too short that you feel it was a waste. Just right.

The staff there were kind and welcoming. The museum's cleanliness was also quite commendable. Every exhibit and gallery was immaculately maintained, which added to the overall charm of the place.

Moderately well stocked with paintings and sculptures from old masters to modern. It's a pleasant round half a mile walk, and across the river from the main drag (Willy Brandt Platz).
We spent the morning looking at the special Northern Renaissance exhibition, featuring Holbein (mainly the Older).
Good amenities and lifts for me to get around. We spent some time (and money) in the bookshop, where we also had nice coffee and cake.
The Goethe House museum is a place where you can learn about the life and work of one of Germany's most famous authors. The house is located in Frankfurt, and it contains period interiors as well as an exhibition on Goethe's life and work.
Really enjoyed it. It was the best museum I’ve visited in Frankfurt. Goethe’s house is nicely arranged and you can enjoy the entire place. You also have an online guide that is free which provides sufficient information to understand what you are seeing. The Deutsches-Romantik Museum is there as well and the ticket includes visits to both.
A must if you come to Frankfurt.

Museum dedicated primarily to Gothe and a few related romantic poets, writers, and artists. Home tour is fun and informative. Museum has many works across various mediums available, and an incredible array of first person writings, such as letters and manuscripts. Several items get into personal relationships among the various artists and give a fuller portrait of them as individuals.

Wow! What a spectacular museum. The beautifully restored Goethe House combined with the modern interactive design of the galleries is amazing. Even if you're not a Goethe fan it's a brilliant representation of the citys history. A must visit!

Beautiful and small historical house which hosted Goethe for a few years. It is common to assume it has been the main house but in reality there can be a couple of them. So it is worth a visit without too much expectation.

Everything inside is impressive and furniture is amazing also. Great to visit here and being able to feel like old times and where Goethe got his first inspirations. The garden and the furniture are well preserved, I like the kitchen and the sealed topfloor stairs. Each room is unique with different paper walls and a heating system which makes you feel the family had a warm cozy house. The sets of tea service just 👌🏻🌟

We did both the Goethe house and the special exhibit, definitely recommend both! The special exhibit had fantastic artwork and many interactive components. Favorite museum we visited in Frankfurt.

It's a really interesting place. All of the explanations about every house's room makes you understand a bit more about the artist. The texts regarding the paintings in the romantic museum could have been larger, but were, as the house, enriching.

If you are on holiday in Frankfurt, of course you have to visit Goethe House. Goethe, whose name is also famous in Indonesia, makes me want to know him more deeply. When entering Goethe's house, there is guidance in nine languages, and it explains every room in Goethe's house. What a fun experience!
Devi Nasution — Google review
If you're interested in Goethe and his life, visiting this house can be fascinating for you. At the entrance, there are papers in several languages providing historical details and information about the house's different floors. My suggestion is to add explanations directly on the house objects, in addition to these guide papers, or at least write the room names on their doors to avoid confusion. There were some paintings on the wall with no information provided either on the guide paper or directly on them.
Saba F — Google review
Had a good experience visiting Goethe museum. There is a possibility to pick up a card with descriptions of rooms and an interactive screen at the entrance, where you can learn the house history.
One hour will be more, than enough there.
P.S. The house itself was ruined during WW2, so don’t expect authenticity. But still it’s nice to see how the house looked at that time.

My exploration of Frankfurt took a literary turn with a visit to the Goethe House, where I reconnected with the works of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe that had inspired me in my youth. Walking through his home, where "The Sorrows of Young Werther" and "Dr. Faust" came to life, was like stepping into a past that continues to echo in the present, illustrating the enduring influence of literature on our lives

The Main Tower Restaurant & Lounge offers stunning views of Frankfurt from its53rd floor bar. It's a favorite spot for bankers and visitors alike, with dishes including international cuisine.
Wonderful restaurant with delicious, creative food at the top of a highrise in downtown Frankfurt. Everything served was individually prepared with the utmost attention to detail. The knowledgeable staff explained every dish chef prepared with complete understanding. The wine pairings complemented and completed every dish. Just when we thought we were done, a wonderful assortment of petite four arrived to finish our delicious meal. The only issue is there is no parking on site, but a parking garage is a couple blocks down the street.

We wanted to have some drinks on a Thursday’s evening. When we arrive, they told us with 2 doses you need to have a test. So we went outside to do test waiting 20 minutes outside for our results to enter the restaurant. When we came second time with our results, they told us we should have a reservation. We called and then the security told us we should order 30 euro per person minimum.
So we went away…
Seems they didn’t want us, like their guests.
PS two stars just for Corona safety checks, otherwise one star.

Since I live in Frankfurt (which is about 3 years) I've always wished to experience this amazing Panorama Restaurant, highlight of the city. I had luck, as I called only 10min before my arrival to book a table, and had luck to receive one (normally one needs to book days earlier, and sometimes weeks).
Needless to say I was amazed with the beautiful panorama and the simple, yet sophisticated interior of the restaurant.
Food was absolutely delicious. Some of the ingredients were complete new to me (as I usually stick to me personally known recepies).
Every course was presented in details by the competent and very polite and professional waiter.
Special thanks to the waiter Mr. Wilhelm (I hope I rememmber correctly) who made our experienced so pleasant.
With regards to the price, I would not say it is expensive. The price suits the overall sensation (the spectacular view and meals) + location.
Best Regards,
Nevena

Excellent lunch and excellent service. Prix Fixe menu with either two or three courses and two choices at each course. I did the three courses with a wine pairing with each course. Fabulous views at every table. Restaurant is on 53rd floor. Allow 5-10 minutes wait for security screening and elevator which is also taking tourists to 55th floor observation deck. They pay 7.50 each for that. No charge if going to restaurant.

Very nice restaurant and bar, friendly staff and ambiance. I i came here after finishing the main tower top floor. Drinks are of reasonable price and the seatings allow you to enjoy the view of the city from up high. I did not eat anything so cannot comment on the quality of the food, however where given truffle infused popcorn as a side to my beer and it tastes amazing.
Ark Huynh (Long) — Google review
Food was mostly good - appetizers and cocktails were very good, main courses were mediocre, desserts were many different things that were good but did nothing for each other.
The service was both patronizing and charming. It was obvious the waitress thought we are not sophisticated enough for the restaurant because we didn't have a reservation and were not dressed. We found it mostly amusing, as the food was very old fashioned as in strong 80s influences in the presentation and mix of overpowering flavors. For example, the lobster bisque was more of a fish bouillon with strong saffron presence. It was good - but it has been a long time since I ate something like that.
The lamb main dish was excellent; the veal was very boring, both the meat and the baked pasta that accompanied it. The sweetbread that made me order it was hardly noticeable. Fish was ok, no more and no less.
The view compensates for almost everything and it was pleasant and fun. If you are willing to spend at least €80 per person before drinks you can do much worse.

Neue Mainzer Str. 52-58, 60311 Frankfurt am Main, Germany
The Frankfurt (Main) Hauptbahnhof is a grand station adorned with Neo-Renaissance accents that serves both regional and long-distance routes. The ground floor hosts platforms for long-distance trains while the underground provides access to the S-bahn and U-bahn systems. Facilities such as paid restrooms, food and beverage shops, and seating areas are available within the station.
The wonderful old architecture of the railway station🤩 During the pick time is a bit more crowded but that's everywhere. The navigation signs are still very easily visible and understandable.
There is a plenty of different connections across the city near surrounding and far distance connections.
Included a lot of food stores for the convenience of traveling or short stops. Thank you 🤘🏼🚀

This is the main station of Frankfurt. The ground floor has the platforms for all the long distance trains and the underground has access to the S-bahn and U-bahn
The station itself has a facilities such as paid WC, food and beverage shops and seating areas. But the area just outside the station is a bit dingy and shady with a lot of littering and loitering

This station is the backbone of the transportation system in frankfurt as you can get Trams, metro, national and international trains from this place, but still it's not crowded as we see in many places, sometimes it's a bit confusing but one can manage if they check the details properly.
Moreover sunset view is amazing from this station.

It’s the main train station of Frankfurt where you can get train to most of the European countries. I took direct train to Linz, Austria. Although it’s a huge and crowded station but there is no proper waiting area that facilitate you during the cold weather. Tram and bus stops are available near the train station.

It is a beautiful train station with its own architectural features. There are many convenient services in the train station, such as DB information desk, bakery selling German specialty breads, fast food restaurants, mini-markets, etc.
But the sanitary condition, not particularly clean and hygienic. There are a lot of pigeons in this train station, resulting in a lot of bird poop, and there are some homeless vagrants.

Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof is the bustling main train station of Frankfurt. Very busy at times. There are many food kiosks and other services available. Unfortunately there are some transient/homeless people who wander through the station, asking for money. The immediate area outside the hauptbahnhof is also a little sketchy, with some open drug dealing, but it's not unsafe. Deutsche Bahn runs a very efficient service, trains run very much on time.

The main reason I choose Frankfurt Haputbahnhof as the starting point for my personal travel is that there are quite a variety of public transportation tools that can easily to use from day to mid-night. No matter what time it is, the crowd is obviously everywhere inside or outside this station. There is also a paid toilet on the underground floor here and a variety of restaurants are also quite sufficient for traveler's basic requirement. I hope to have the other opportunity again to take different long-distance trains here in the future.

The train station is very large and busy with lots of services to different areas. It is very busy and crowded all the time. You can also transfer to U-Baun and S-Baun inside the train station too. Furthermore, there are a lot of cafes and restaurants so that you can find your desired dishes easily

Very busy train platform, but easy to locate the appropriate train based on all the signage and platform updates. There's plenty of food shops, places to sit and wait. They have luggage storage for anyone looking to leave over the day while walking the city. Wasn't many people to ask for help when trying to find something specific.

The train station is HUGE. Lots of places to eat or drink inside.
It was not easy to find help, and finding the proper train and seats was very difficult as first timers. Our train was probably 3 or 4 hours late, easily. So weird.

A beautiful train station. It is huge and the architecture is beautiful. It brings back the old days of train travel. I just love the main terminal area where the trains arrive and depart. Plenty of shops, restaurants and places to buy drinks before or after travel. I really enjoy my visits to this station.
Michael Mack — Google review
Liked the architecture of the station. It's very huge and gorgeous. It's a typical terminus station where the railroads end in the station, so you can just walk to the end of the platform and move to another one without using the bridge. There are fast-food restaurants and convenience stores in the station.
Junhyun Kim — Google review
The train station is beautiful! It has a historical charm that reminds me of Harry Potter heading to Platform 9¾. However, I must admit that the train system can be quite complicated, especially for non-German speakers or tourists in general. The costumer service desk is not very helpful, the workers have an attitude and are not willing to help. I accidentally boarded the wrong train and ended up receiving an 80 euro fine from one of the train ticket officials. It would be great if they could be more helpful and friendly towards tourists, offering guidance and assistance when needed.
Ivan Corona — Google review
Large and efficient station, as one would expect from Germany. Trains that connect all over Germany and the rest of Europe including Amsterdam, Vienna and Basel.
Tram and metro also connect to the station. Lots of electronic and physical signs so it's impossible to get the wrong train.
Tons of cafe and sandwiches type places available as well as a few sit down restaurants and the usual junk fast food.
Unique architecture here and it is a visual treat. Overall a very pleasant experience

Functional and practical.
This has to be the most used train station in Europe for me. I lived here for two years in the 80s; I love train so much that I make my trips around it - it was great when German DB was reliable and dependable.
Not during my last few trips, especially 2022. Accidents, delays ...
Oh, I'm off the topic.
This station although heavily used, but I don't think it has a supermarket ... foods / coffee bars are plentiful. Some under ground tunnels feels icky. Many buses and subways merge here (duh)

A nice train station with a beautiful architecture. The main train station in Frankfurt with connections to almost all major cities across Germany and Europe. Signs are very well labeled making it a bit easy to navigate your way to the right platform, especially if you don’t speak German. There are many shops and restaurants to keep you busy as you wait for your train. There are also numerous public benches if you just want to chill and not spend a dime. It wasn’t that busy when I visited but a bit rush. Pretty sure it gets chaotic during rush hours. Good thing is they have service desks where you can visit any time and an attendant will help you find your way.

Excellent for families. Lot of attractions and animals. Good place for picnic.
Clean and well maintained. I can only recommend.
Be aware, that the bigger attractions can be used above 7 years or 120 cm.
There are a lot of fun games also for the smallest ones.

A bit old, but still very interesting amusement park for children. And not only children, parents and teenagers will have fun as well. But the best part for me are the grill places. There are more than 20 such places, with built-in grills, gazebos and benches, where you can have a grill party. Just bring coal and meat, and do not forget to book it at least 1 week in advance. The use of the grill places is free of charge.
Parking usually is not a problem, as there is a big meadow to park, when the main parking lot is full.

Not cheap, but a good experience overall.
We were there on a sunny Saturday, so the park was packed! The park’s facilities are well-maintained and clean. Restrooms were easily accessible and tidy, and there were plenty of spots to rest and have a snack.
It seems that there is something for older kids, but not really much to do for infants. The staff members were relatively approachable, but we received false information on two different occasions - we were sent to a certain ride by the info desk employees, but we were turned down by their colleagues operating the ride because our daughter was too small. Oh well, not a pleasant experience to walk across the park in 30 degree weather for nothing. At least there were plenty of animals to pet and feed.

The restaurant has a great position, which guarantee shade and “fresh” air even the the hottest days. The cuisine is fairly good, if you like German food (as I do)!
The overall playground is plenty of fun opportunities for kids, at a very reasonable price! The farm’s animals provide kids with an extra fun!
Highly recommended!!!
Hessenpark is an open-air museum located in Bad Homburg, showcasing over 100 regional timber-framed houses and offering insights into traditional Hessian life. The park spans a large area and features disassembled homes from various parts of the province, which are reassembled for preservation. Visitors can witness rural crafts demonstrations and historical exhibitions while exploring the centuries-old village. Additionally, there are craftsmen on-site showcasing processes like ink dying.
Visited the opening weekend of the 2023 Weihnachtsmarkt. Very nice small-town market with mostly local handmade items.
The park is an open-air museum with dozens of restored Hessian buildings - quite a lot fun any time of the year, but be sure to dress for the weather.

Great open air museum, good concept, nice and beautiful surrounding. I was the whole day walking around but still not enough time to see all museums, so will come back again soon

We loves our visit here. So many beautiful buildings, scenery and very interesting to learn about the history of Hessen.
The staff is super friendly! The staff from the restaurant closest to the playground were excellent. The waiter was very helpful and nice. The manager of the restaurant was welcoming and even made my son a balloon elephant when he was crying. It made my son’s day.
The playground is wonderful! So much to do and well made.
Highly recommend for a nice day trip outside of the city.

A recommendation for a Sunday excursion. The kids will love it, it needs almost the whole day to visit every single house and see every attraction with animals. There is a restaurant for lunch or dinner and some kiosks to grab a drink or a snack during the walk. Keep in mind that the streets are not very stroller friendly.

We always have a good time here! It's huge with many things to see and do. There's a market place near the entrance. Then there's also a nice-sized playground for the little ones. Many farm animals to see, and a great place to walk.

Hessenpark is a captivating cultural gem that offers a delightful journey through history. The meticulously preserved buildings and authentic exhibits showcase the rich heritage of the Hessen region. Walking through the park feels like stepping back in time, with each structure telling a unique story. The attention to detail and commitment to historical accuracy are commendable, creating an immersive experience for visitors. Whether exploring traditional houses, artisan workshops, or the beautiful landscapes, Hessenpark provides a fascinating glimpse into the past. It's a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and anyone seeking a charming blend of education and enjoyment.

Absolute highlight in the Rhine Main region - especially for families! Original old Hessen houses from the last centuries rebuild to a village landscape. Also good playground and historical shops. Recommended!

Lovely place to spend a day out (also with kids). Good to learn about our past and how things were done ages ago.
You can go there also for shopping (food, drinks, clothes and decoration/accessoires). The windmills are impressive and in almost every house you find another exhibition.
Was there three times and never got disappointed.

The Hessenpark is a wonderfully maintained centuries old village. In addition, they disassemble old homes from other parts of the province and bring them here for reassembly and preservation. The park is on a large land area, likely over a thousand acres. Think historic Williamsburg without trying to be touristy. There are craftsmen on site, and certain processes like ink dying are shown. We were there in summer and fruits were ripe and you could pick cherries and other fruit from the trees. The hiking trail takes you around the site. Don’t miss the windmill. You can climb up inside and see how it works.

This place was SO large. I took my 5 year old and we spent several hours there and still didn't see everything. All the neat little houses and businesses you get to see inside of. My son loved all the animals around the place, especially the rabbits. We really enjoyed climbing into the windmill.

Great place to see old German culture. The do activities for kids which they look very interesting but no even for kids the place is good.
You can walk freely in an old German village, enter at the houses and find old stuff and crafts.
There are also some small shops and a bar.

Super interesting! It's an air park, there are lots of small old German houses and inside of every of them museums are. You need to buy a ticket and then you are free to stay there as long as you want to. There is a Cafe, bakery, small shops etc. where you can have a rest and eat. There is also a small lake. What is interesting that all houses are built like in different parts of Hessen and it's written. F.e. You can see tilling roofs in the northem part and straw ones in tne southem. Super interesting. I would recomend to go earlier cos after 17-18 all houses (museums, shops, Cafe etc) start to close and the last bus is at 18.30!!! Be careful. Very good place!
The Gutenberg Museum is a fascinating destination for book enthusiasts to explore the history of printing. The museum boasts displays of Gutenberg Bibles, the famous invention by Johannes Gutenberg in the 15th century that revolutionized book production with movable type printing. Visitors can discover how printing developed independently in both Eastern and Western cultures. While some exhibits lack English translations, English-speaking tour guides are available to help visitors navigate through the rich history of this revolutionary technology.
I definitely recommend visiting the museum to enjoy the revolutionary invention of printing and how it has transformed the world. It can give a glimpse of the current change with social media and how it is transforming politics and life all over the globe.

It’s a great place if history of things interests you. I was very impressed with this museum and the history it had to offer. Do get the audio device for a guided audio tour otherwise you will be lost inside. Don’t miss the narrated printing press history tour which is in the mail hall downstairs. If you’re lucky you may be gifted a scroll.

Lovely museum just a few steps from the Mainz Cathedral. Its main attraction is the two copies of the Gutenberg Bible. They also do a demo session to showcase the working of the printing press. We found it quite interesting.

Great museum for book nerds to learn how books happened. Must-go if you’re in the area. Definitely learned how printing was invented in both the East and West. The important exhibits had English descriptions, but the other half didn’t have any which is a big bummer. Glad we had our own English-speaking tour guide to walk us through the history, which helped a lot!

There're so many old books and we can see many old printers. One of guides lady is so kind to tell me which part is OK to take pictures. Really things are so interesting for me anyway. The museum is close to Dom, please stop by if you have a enough time.

Museum of Gutenberg's achievements and the history of printing in Mainz. Starting with the 42-line Bible, the book lays out the technology that led to the development of printing, including the development of type and specifications for gradation density.
There are many printing machines, and there are also lithographic plates, so it's quite a sight to see.
There were also exhibits about printing from outside Europe.
Purchase admission tickets on the first floor. There are lockers, but unfortunately I didn't have the 2€ coins so I couldn't use them. Currency cannot be exchanged, so if you want to put your luggage in a locker, we recommend checking your coins beforehand.

This museum presents the development of printing technology around the world from a very objective and neutral perspective. The museum has a collection of Gutenberg's earliest printed works and printing machines of various periods. In addition, the organizer also provided a live demonstration of printing technology, as well as a short film of Gutenberg's life in German or English.

Very interesting museum about Gutenberg Printing Press and the history of printing press in general. They have an amazing collection of old books including one of the original Gutenberg Bibles. Also contains an interesting exhibition about printing presses in eastern countries. The only downside is that in a few exhibitions the descriptions are only in German. The entrance to the museum costs only 5 euros.

Wonderful exhibition, which I was very much looking forward to but I honestly found it really hard to follow with the audio set (English). Difficult to know which floor I was on as no obvious numbers displayed and all the experts in the audio were in German and not translated to the different languages offered. I felt I missed out on lots of information because of that. From reading other reviews I think the best way to see this exhibition is with a guided tour.
Also need to note on website that ID needed to get audio.

Kirschgarten Square, located in Mainz, Germany, is a delightful cobbled square with a rich history dating back to the 14th century. The well-preserved half-timbered houses that line the square are a testament to its 17th-century origins. The name "Kirschgarten," meaning Cherry Garden, harks back to its previous life as an orchard. A fountain adds to the charm of this picturesque and historic location.
The Mainz Cathedral, a Romanesque structure with a Baroque spire and an ornate cloister, is renowned for its elaborate tombstones. The cathedral is one of the largest in Europe, second only to the Vatican in size. Its architecture and history are fascinating, making it an absolute must-see destination. The cathedral's impressive grandeur sets it apart from others and showcases beautiful design elements in its construction.
Must see cathedral. It’s majestic size. I did not want to compare it to others - but it’s one of the biggest one (except Vatican) in Europe. Absolutely must see.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon with my husband and three kids ages 6, 4, and 2. This is the best cathedral I've been to with kids, mainly because there was beautiful organ music playing the whole time that made it much less stressful having semi-loud children. There was SO much to look at, and we loved strolling through all the different side rooms and halls. I'm not normally a cathedral person but we thoroughly enjoyed this one. Not a ton of things that the kids wanted to touch but couldn't - most of it is high up where they can't reach, or blocked off. The bathrooms were so-so; 50 cents per person and small. We parked nearby at Parkhaus am Brand, which was an easy-to-get-to underground garage and very reasonably priced (12 euros for 7ish hours).

Oh dear… Mainz Cathedral or St. Martin's Cathedral is located near the historical center and a market square. This 1000-year-old Roman Catholic cathedral is the site of the episcopal see of the Bishop of Mainz. Like everything in the City this monumental building is a mosaic of styles. The fusion between Romanesque (main),
Gothic (chapels and bell towers) and
Baroque (roof) are serving us a real architectural treat. Over the centuries, seven coronations of kings took place in Mainz Cathedral.

St. Stephan's Church is a Catholic church that features stunning stained glass windows created by Marc Chagall and a late-Gothic cloister. Located just a short walk away from Schillerplatz, this hilltop church offers panoramic views of the city. With nearly 200,000 visitors annually, it is considered to be one of the most beautiful churches in the world. The blue windows are particularly noteworthy and provide a unique experience for visitors.
Wonderful church. The Chagall windows are beautiful. But apart from that it was a very welcoming experience with friendly and helpful "staff". The windows are breathtaking, but you can regain composure in the beautiful cloister. Unmissable.

One of the most beautiful churches I've ever been into, the Marc Chagall windows have to be seen in daylight... The church itself sits up on top of a bluff overlooking all of downtown mines as well as the Mainzer Dom, a must see cathedral in downtown, but St. Stephen's is much more than a place of worship. Impressionist art lovers unite...

Hidden gem of Mainz!
I have been outside in the church cloistered courtyard, which is relatively small but very beautiful and picturesque, many times, however this was my first time inside the church and I was really impressed. I had no idea there was such a beautiful church in Mainz!
This place is known for its unique stained-glass windows in luminous blue that were created by Marc Chagall. The light coming through the windows was absolutely stunning and created an almost unreal ambience, I felt like being under water. I have never seen such beautiful lighting in any church I have visited (visited mid-day with clear skies, so nothing was blocking the sun beams to enter the church). I also enjoyed the beautiful modern Organs near the chancel with the altar.
There is a little gift shop inside, where you can buy souvenirs like postcards, books and magnets mainly with the blue window theme. Church is wheel-chair accessible and there is no entrance fee.
Totally recommend to visit this church as pictures don't really do justice, you must see it with your own eyes to have the full experience.
Visited in May 2022.

Saint Stefan’s church in Mainz is one of the most beautiful historical buildings you can find. If you visit mines you have to make sure to go inside this church. There is no entry fee and once you go inside you will see beautiful blue windows which were created by the very famous Chagall artist. The Organ is also brand new and modern and was created after the church raised donations for it. Once you walk through the church you go towards the back and there is a small walkway leading to additional rooms and a courtyard. What are the courtyard once you leave the church through the back you walk behind the church and there’s a viewpoint where you can see Mainz from high up there is also a bench where you can sit there. I recommend you look up the opening hours before going because it would be a shame to miss the artwork inside.

The Witch-Tower (Hexenturm): Well the story has it that this tower has nothing to do with witch huntings. But then again underneath the tower there is a list of names of the "witches" (also some male witches) that were executed. But I am not so good at history so I think this needs more digging to figure out. However if u r interested in going up the tower u can get the keys to the tower from the most beautiful tourist information center I have ever seen. The tower has about 120 stairs and the climb at the end becomes steep and a bit tight. So if u r claustrophobic or afraid of heights, I would suggest u omit this tourist stop. From up there u have a beautiful view of the old town. The key can stay with u for exchange with an ID for about 30mins. I suggest once u go in the tower lock the door behind u otherwise people just walk in and think it is open all day long and then u r responsible to get them out and return the key on time.
Mary L — Google review
You have to go to the tourism office and ask for the key first. You get 45 minutes to explore the tower on your own. There are extensive steps and they get rather steep, almost like a ladder, as you get up top. I can't wait to bring my kids. They will love it!!

Nice and big pool with a big outdoor area. The pool seems to be quite new and modern. Plenty of space everywhere but the pool tends to be very full on sunny and warm days. Kids will have loads of fun on the slide outside (although the water in the outdoor pool was a bit cold for us), bigger kids will enjoy the big tube slide indoors. The water in the indoor pools was much warmer.
There is a fun bar in the indoor pool, serving cocktails, you can pay with the badge you get as the locker key, so no need to carry money.

Love the organization during the pandemic with time sloths and buying tickets in advance. Even during the warmest period it wasn’t too crowded.
The toilets could be cleaner, they were really smelly.
Although my kids are not there yet, the way they decide who pays the adult tickets is nonsense- they have 1€ price for kids under 99cm, everyone else pays normal adult ticket.🙄
Lejla Sator — Google review
Considering that this is newly built just a few years ago, the cost of the build and the cost of entrance the design of some things are very poor.
Overall I would not say that this is friendly enough for families. There are very few cubicles suitable for more than one person, and 2 adults and one small child is very right squeeze. The bench is barely big enough to sit on, not enough hanging hooks and serious lack of space.
Baby changing facilities are terrible and there is a lack of understanding of the needs of kids.
The pools themselves are ok, but again suffer from bad design.
The baby splash pool is separated from the others, so you can't look after a baby in there and keep an eye on larger kids in the kids pool.
The kids pool also doubles as the relaxing pool with various relaxation features for adults. But this means that the kids in the pool have less room for playing because (mostly elderly) adults want to relax and are not considerate of the kids needs.
The showers are also very badly designed. It is possible to look into the mens and see them showering naked and going to the toilet as there are no doors or barriers. The ladies has a small barrier but not much better.
The showers also offer no privacy from each other and there is only one small place to hang your towel in the middle of the room. So you have to walk to/from the shower to this location naked to get your towel where everybody can see in!

Very interesting collection of mechanical music machines from very large to fit in the palm of your hand.

Highly recommended! A wonderful collection of mechanical music machines housed in a beautiful building parts of which have been built in the 1400s. The guided tour was informative and entertaining. The museum will also soon host the famed Wintergatan marble machines! This museum has been family run for 3 generations. We were lucky enough to meet one of the family members, who was extremely gracious with his time in answering our questions. Thank you very much!

Great visit many musical devices. Fascinating. Worth a visit
George Carr — Google review
We visited as part of a group excursion and I was so sad to have limited time here!! We are definitely coming back!! The machines are simply amazing, especially when you put them in a perspective that considers what the rest of the world was like when they were invented. They also hand make and sell delightful little music boxes called bird boxes that I was quite heartbroken to leave without. Definitely plan an open-ended visit here!

I loved my tour here!!! First off, such a unique place to go - the history is rich and the music is fun. The gentleman who did our tour was extremely knowledgeable. You can tell he is passionate about the instruments they house. I would definitely come back to tour again!
A definite must see Museum for any music 🎶 🎼 🎵 lover. 300+ working musical instruments spanning over many centuries. The guide demonstrated many of these in our tour. We spent about 2 hours there. The building is also very historic. Absolutely fascinating! A genuine piece of musical history. Very nice gift shop as well! Don’t miss this... Highly Recommend!!! Must experience this while in Rudesheim. 🇩🇪❤️💛

Lots of fun for both the music lover in the technically inclined. Our hostess was fun and the collection was amazing. We had this as one of our river cruise options.

Fabulous collection of 100 year old music machines restored and in working order.
Perched atop a hill, the Niederwald Monument commemorates the unification of Germany following the Franco-Prussian War. Accessible by foot or cable car, it offers stunning views of the Rhine River and valley below. The monument features an imposing figure of Germania, symbolizing unity and strength. Visitors can take a cable car ride through picturesque vineyards or hike through beech forests to reach this historical site.
The view is breathtaking. The monument is worthy to see. United we win. The historical perspective is one of the kind.. bucket list checked.

A very beautiful, hilarious and mighty monument...you simply must respect it, the builders and creators as well, you must love the place. The view is breathtaking, it is picturesque and just overwhelming...the river Rhein, the little town, the small hills around...everything....and if you decide to walk up to it through the wineyard you will enjoy it even more (just take enough water)

This monument is situated in one of the most beautiful places of Germany called Rudesheim. Surrounded by lush green vineyards and easily accessible by a cable car which provides views which will stimulate anyone for years after their visit. A mist visit for anyone going to Germany.
While returning we took the walking trail which passes through the vineyards, slowly ascending from the beautiful birds eye views to the green surroundings of the vineyards.
The entire trail is a few kilometres long, and is worth taking.

If you have physical limitations, take the chair lift. If not, it's worth the uphill hike through the vineyards. There is no shade on the hike up, so be prepared, take water. The sun beats down on you for a while. The monument is stunning and grand, not to mention the view over the Rhein. There's a restaurant at the top of the hill, in case you need refreshments after the hike. This was my 2nd time visiting so it was worth seeing more than once.

Beautiful views !! It is worth it. Sitting there feels like holidays abroad. You can have a good rest here and it is nice for evening walks.

A very impressive monument built in the late 1800’s to commentate the unification of Germany. THIS IS NOT A WAR MEMORIAL .
There is ample paid parking on a very well organised and maintained site which is well lit and has a lot of seating offering fantastic views of the Rhein river and of course the memorial itself. There’s a very good restaurant here on site with a good selection and outdoor seating area too. The memorial is also accessible to and from Rüdesheim via a cable car lift.

Very beautiful views from the monument. The monument itself is very impressive and lovely to look at. I appreciated the informative signs in front, describing the history of the monument.

We loved the hike to the monument. Only 87 meters above sea level and just over 200 stairs, it was a perfect balance of exercise and enjoyment.
A must see if you are visiting.

Niederwald Landscape Park near the Rhein river in Rüdeshiem, Germany. This is another spot where you can take your family for a chill and relaxing tour. In order to go to the top, we gotta take the tram which was free. The view was breathtaking and don’t get me started on the amazing interactions with the people there. It was lovely experience and I hope to go back very soon :)

Astonishingly beautiful scenery and view, even during windy winter time. The Monument's massiveness is suprising and impressive, there are many wineyard paths to walk in the nearby area, a restaurant, and soon after Covid they will open the cableway (Seilbahn).
Parking is 8€ for the whole day, right on top of the hill- limited spaces, and a very slow ticket machine, though.

We got up here by a very scenic cable car ride🚠 Cute little cable car for 2 person! The view over the Rhine river is quite amazing with fields of vineyard along the river!

Loved our small little trip.
The chairlift was extremely safe and totally worth it. The view from above was the best thing. The monument was spectacular and the history behind it was intresting.
Why i am giving it 4 stars is simple we paid for the boat to get to the monument and also the chairlift still when we reached the top we had to pay for toilet. They should atleast not ask extra.

You still have to queue even if you buy tickets in advance but its not a long wait. The ride on the individual cable cars is spectacular. The view at the monument is amazing and the stories behind it are fascinating. It's very peaceful up there. Gift shop and snacks available. The greatest Elvis filmed in number 76. We also came down in number 76.

This place is worth the time and effort to visit. You can actually walk up to this place from the town of Rudesheim. The cable car is the way to go up. If you have the time, you can walk Babcock down through the vineyards with the constant beautiful scenery of the Rhine River as you walk down.
The history of this place is explained in several languages when you get up to the monument.

This is, quite simply, a stunning memorial to the Franco-Prussian War. And if you are unclear as to the details surrounding this major conflict between the Second French Empire and the North German Confederation, oh my - just do a quick bit of research - this war forever changed the face of the European Continent and shaped it into what we more or less see today. This war changed everything. And this monument is beyond gorgeous and, whether you would have been on either side of the battlefield, this monument is meaningful.

What a beautiful place to visit, a quick ride up the mountain in the cable cars and a lovely walk around to see the monument, the views are breathtaking
Refined hotel in a 14th-century castle, with intimate apartments, terrace dining & free breakfast.
A stunning castle. Very unfriendly staff running the place. Having visited multiple times, I actually don't recommend touring inside. Inside is okay. However outside is the real experience. Climb up to the castle and walk by the gate and around the back of the castle. You get the best views of every part.

This is one of the best Castles to visit if you can firstly handle the steep walk up to it. Easy to buy tickets at the entrance, the lady was so lovely and friendly, you could tell she loves the castle. You can explore the beautiful interior and exterior in your own time and the views are magnificent.

Didn’t stay at the hotel so this review is about the castle itself, but what a beautiful castle. It is a bit of a hike to get up there, but nothing ridiculous, and it is well worth it.
The views are amazing and the history shared in the castle is super interesting. I’d encourage anyone to visit.

£8 per visit or 20 per cent discount for two castles. Privately owned. Visited by local KD cruise ships which an hour below. Limited parking which will be in great demand in summer. Bus service. Fine position and just what a Rhine castle should be. Steep but rewarding shortish path up from the road. Difficult by wheelchair without strong pushers. Restaurant. Attractive rooms.

This castle was one of the most gorgeous ones we have ever visited, both inside and out! I’d highly recommend it to anybody traveling through this area in Germany. From the history of this place, to the architecture, to the scenic views, to the gift shop, everything was perfect.

It was such a picturesque place with a beautiful view to the river. It is worth it to climb all the way up there. Then we paid for the entrance. You can visit the whole castle and climb up to the highest point. There’s a restaurant with such a nice view. They were out of burgers so I ordered this traditional German “pizza “. Was not bad but too salty for me. And for some reasons, maybe the vineyards, there were a lot of wasps not only here but everywhere in that area. Overall I loved the experience.

Stunning castle, amazing views. Great trip all around!
It’s quite a climb from parking to entrance, not unpleasant, but something to take note of.
Parking is max. 2 hours, (with parking disk) which seems odd, but you can see the whole place at an easy pace within that time.
Dogs are allowed, even inside the castle, which is just so lovely! Our dog was very excited to join in on this adventure. We felt very welcome.
Lots of nooks to explore, don’t forget to take photos, the views are magnificent!

Amazing castle with open many rooms and parts of the castle. The price is 8EUR for adult, dog entrance is for free. You can take a dog to all castle places, even inside the castle! Near to the castle, behind him is a path where you can see the castle from away.

Interesting, but rather small 19. Century castle. The views are nice, the restaurant very good, although the prices are not on the cheap side. If you visit when crowded (over a weekend), you will struggle with the other visitors. Try coming on a workday if possible.
There is a small parking lot for around 20 cars below the castle on the road. The climb up to the castle is not too dificult, around 7-10 minutes.

Didn’t stay the night here, just visited the castle. Stunning and well kept historical castle. Lots of information on plaques and booklets. Spent about 2.5 hours here. Staff was friendly.
There are two parking areas along the road. Each has about 10-12 spaces. We visited on a Friday afternoon and there were more than 6 spaces available.
You have to walk up a hill (about 10 minute walk). It is a little steep and can be difficult for elderly. There are steps in the castle and I did not see anywhere for wheelchair accessibility.
There are also narrow stair cases and areas with disorienting heights, however, these are all optional and can be avoided if one does not want to see them.
Cafe inside the castle is very cute and has a wide variety of food and drink. Vegetarian options too.
Overall, incredible castle to visit.

Great museum, nice exhibits and well organised. The one on the history of the Opera is very interesting. The cloakroom and the audio guide is free...but it is understandable only if you are German !!! Unfortunately there are no other languages selectable. The rest of the exhibition is well documented with writing in two languages but it would have been great if we could have used the audio guide in English as well.
The House of the History of the Federal Republic of Germany is a museum exhibiting contemporary German history. It is a beautiful museum with an interesting variety of exhibits, including documents that once belonged to Oskar Schindler.

The Museum of the History of the Federal Republic is a modern chronically of post second war Germany. It is a very fascinating place to visit but half way round I felt overloaded with information. It is perhaps better to take a coffee or tea break before you become saturated with information overload.
I would recommend this museum it is very well laid out and extremely simulating. But remember to take a break. You can download a free audio guide to your mobile phone.
The Museum is free to enter. The cloakroom is free to use. It had a handy cafe with waiter service.
Toilets are on the basement floor.
A metro station is virtually a minute away from the entrance.

The museum starts from (after ww2, 1945) until now.
The bad thing is that there are NO English descriptions at all, although it is intended for foreigners to learn history about this great country
I loved the place in general. I love German history
Many original pieces and many replicas
The museum has history about war, machines, politics, astro, life, people, ..
I liked how the theme was affected by the timeline (united > east+west germany> united germany)

Truly a must see for every German citizen and everyone who is interested in German and recent European history.
What is especially captivating is the fact that each part of the exhibition is visually and physically enhanced by original objects and artifacts which are telling a story about their past much better than a simple picture or text.
While you can easily spend an entire day here without having seen everything, I’d recommend to split the entire exhibition in at least two visits to better process the vast amounts of information and pictures.
The Alexander Koenig Research Museum is a distinguished zoological institution and natural history museum that features both exhibits on biodiversity & natural history, as well as historic villa where professor Alexander Koenig lived with his extensive bird collection. This important museum is home to many interesting exhibitions on different aspects of the animal kingdom.
We have a 2yr old and we've been keen to show her the world the best we can in a covid pandemic. The museum was a big help. We went on a Saturday before 11am and the place was pretty empty and perfect for a young child to explore. There were plenty of animal displays and information as well as small interactive points. Also the aquarium was well worth a visit.

This natural history museum’s collection started in the 1930s. The building is a must see, staircases and closed wooden doors align the long hallways are beautiful. There’s a small aquarium in the basement. So many interactive exhibits, mostly for children, but my husband really enjoyed the butterfly magnificently glass. The day we visited, between Christmas and New Year’s, meant that the small cafeteria on the second floor was closed. We got a coffee and cookie out of a vending machine near the coat racks. Charming and cheap but the coffee tasted of super sweet chocolate.

If you don’t have / like children, don’t go on Sundays it is too crowded.

Now this is what I call a perfect museum - no live animals held in captivity; and a massive, beautiful structure dedicated to the natural sciences.
Such a diverse range on exhibition - I don’t think any corner of the world went neglected albeit there were certainly some parts of the world with very little to no coverage (such as the Lut desert, which I expected to see in the desert section).
My other issue was how I, a budding ecologist, found myself consistently unsatisfied with the lack of detail in some areas - which makes me believe this museum is rather heavily oriented toward children as opposed to curious academics.
For example - they mentioned how fishes cannot survive in the desert but certain fishes do prosper in oases in the deserts. Which fishes? That is a question that should have been answered. But it was left for impossible speculation. A child would not want to know the name of such a species but an academic would. I rest my case.
Nevertheless. Solid museum. Maybe one day they’ll build a museum like this in my name for my services to the field…

Cool relatively small zoological museum in a beautiful historical bulding. Unlike many similar museums, they did a great job in showing how actual scientific process in zoology and related fields was organised in the past and today - was really cool to see exemplary collections of similarly looking yet distinct beetle subspecies, or listen to recorded bird songs.
The museum is probably perfect for kids, there was a lot of interactive stuff, even a virtual reality corner.
Some info was (understandably) only in German, but most often doubled in english.

We, as a family, always enjoy natural history museums. This one isn't big, but there was more on display than we expected. We were pleasantly surprised. The exhibition on the ground floor is beautiful. Only a few texts are in English. But there's free WiFi, so you can use Google translate.
There's no cafe on site and parking behind the museum itself is free of charge. The entrance costs €15 for a family. So, it's a great value.

Inside, this place is amazing. The displays and dioramas are beautiful and informational. Unfortunately, the service was poor. We arrived at 16.45 and purchased our tickets, but at 17.45 we were suddenly rounded up by an irate and very rude security guard who frogmarched us out.
I went to the desk and asked why they listed the closing time as 18.00, if we had to leave at 17.45, and he said that after 17.45 you can stay on the ground floor but not be on the upper floor/s. The security guard however had marched us right to the front door, specifically stopping us from remaining on the ground floor.
This left a pretty bad taste in our mouths, especially as if they had have mentioned this when we bought our tickets, we could have started on the upper floors instead of on the ground floor.
We missed nearly 2 floors worth of the museum, which was very unfortunate as it has a brilliant collection.
In short, displays are amazing, take at least 2 hours to see them all, the upper floors close at 17.45 and customer service was bad.

It is essential to note from the outset that this museum distinguishes itself superbly from its contemporaries. While others demand steep entry fees and yet fall short in delivering value, Koenigs Museum strikes a winning balance with its modest charge of 6 euros for adults, along with a rich offering of knowledge on biodiversity and various landscapes.
The rainforest section, in particular, was a standout attraction, providing an immersive experience that truly engaged my curiosity. The vast majority of multimedia equipment, from audio to video, was fully operational, enhancing the museum experience significantly. I was able to absorb a wealth of information, unhindered by large crowds.
I wholeheartedly recommend this museum for family outings. Its offerings are sure to delight children and provide an enriching, enjoyable day out.
Furthermore, I would like to offer a suggestion to the museum team for consideration. The lighting in areas where laser projection-based videos are displayed could be slightly dimmed. The current level of brightness makes it somewhat challenging to view these particular exhibits.

Very old school museum with so-called Dioramas; An old fashioned way of showing stuffed animals in a “natural” setting with dried plants and painted background. My grandfather worked there a hundred years ago as preparator so it was interesting to see the part that was the history about the museum. But I think it is still the same things as then 😊

Beautiful collection of plants, very well taken care of and with signs with names and origin in each specimen. The glasshouse was very hot so take that into consideration when you enter. Has toilets in the entrance and in the glasshouse.

Beautiful garden with a huge variety of flowers, for a nice and relaxing walk under the sun. By walking you can find birds, ducks, frogs and other animals in their habitat. Make sure to go around the little "lake" and over the bridge, were the ducks swim under you.
As of August '21 no Corona restrictions were present.

This is an INCREDIBLE botanical garden. First of all I have to say that the garden is free of charge to all visitors! It offers an astonishing pallette of different trees, bushes, shrubs and flowers which are all labelled and can be inspected up close since walking on the grass is allowed. Aside from the plethora of plants outside, there are also several greenhouses with different zones like sub-tropical, tropical and arid. There is even an extra little part with different types of carnivorous plants.
Beside the main botanical garden there is also a small separate garden wherein plants which are used by humans are grown. There are different citrus and nut trees, berries, fruits and other edibles as well as different grain types and other interesting plants. Whether you are an avid plant lover, botanist or someone who likes to spend time among many different plants then make sure to have a visit to the botanical garden, you won't regret it.

This is a beautifully maintained garden that is free, and takes maybe about 30-60 minutes to walk through. But it’s worth staying longer if you can, particularly if you are looking to relax and take a breather. There is a very wide variety of plants from around the world, so take your time to check them out. The more you look, the more you see!

Fantastic day even though it was a dull October day! Enjoyed the gardens and we spent hours looking at the plants in the Glass Houses, which we especially enjoyed.

A wonderful well maintained botanical garden and a good escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
When you get there in spring or early summer you will find many plants in full bloom
You can stroll through the park with many different trees and visit the hot house and spot the occasional leguana hanging around.
On some occasions a park ranger may even present a snake to you.

What a lovely garden! There are some banana trees there, which is quite exotic in Europe. Cute place to hang out with your friends

Surprising pretty even if we didn’t get to see the biggest flower blooming. We missed the flower but still very much enjoyed the glass house. Seems small but well organized and pretty!

Very extensive collection of species in the large glass houses. Each section is another surprise, ranging from humid tropical to dry desert cactus collections.
The eautiful garden layout includes several ponds and bridges, sections with large trees give a nice shade during warm days while still giving a great view on the historical palace-like central building.
