Grand Hotel Portovenere is a seafront hotel located in the picturesque town of Portovenere. Housed in a former 17th-century monastery, the hotel offers spacious and bright rooms that are air-conditioned and equipped with modern amenities such as free Wi-Fi, LED TV with free Sky channels and minibar. Guests can enjoy stunning views of Palmaria Island from their rooms or the terrace overlooking the small port.
The hotel is just what I expected for the high price they charge. If what you are looking for is a hotel with style, history and a feeling of quality, this is perfect. In terms of customer service I have nothing to complain about and I am more than pleased. The only relatively big problem was that the wifi did not work in my room, however I could see the effort and concern of the staff to fix it, which they did.
If you have the financial capacity, love the Italian Seacoast and want to visit Cinque Terre this is for you.

This place is very special. It’s a hidden gem that I want to keep all to myself but they deserve the business from everyone. The service is phenomenal and the rooms are updated and well maintained with very nice views. The staff are absolutely wonderful and attentive, from the restaurant, to the front desk, to the cleaning crew, to the porters. The location is a bit away from the popular touristy areas but still good. There is no train station in this town but the ferry is right in front of the hotel and taxis are easy to obtain (or you can rent a car). The area itself is beautiful and peaceful and quiet at night (the restaurants all shut down before midnight so no real nightlife). Staying here is like living inside a dream. A great place for artists, dreamers, and those that want to immerse themselves in a picturesque Italian coastal town, while still staying in luxurious and convenient accommodations.

Very average. Poor value. Sadly no real options. Location is good and the restaurant is ok but frankly trying to be something it is not; better food options in town for a more authentic meal. The view from the hotel restaurant area is nice. For 400€ per night in the low season I would expect more for the room. Cheap fixtures and fittings and small Rooms. That said, clean hotel, friendly staff, and overall a nice stay - just poor value hence the rating.

If you ever want to stay somewhere that makes you feel like you are living in a dream...this is the place.
There is attention to every detail...and the location is Perfecto.
We got the Jr Suite and it is just amazing.
The views of the bay and all of the boats are truly mesmerizing to watch as they arrive and depart from the harbor. Coming here from Rome was the smartest thing we could have done. While I loved Rome and her history and endless lust for life...my feet and mind have both let out a sigh of relief for what is a peaceful and welcomed change of pace.
Exploring and learning are great, but eating and relaxing are awesome.
Viva Italy and all her wonderful people, food and beauty.
The spa here at the hotel is top notch. They have a private room with a steam bath, a dry sauna and a relaxing area to close your eyes and regenerate body and mind.
We met the General Manager while he was on site...a delightful man named Antonio. He actually sent us a bottle of champagne with a hand written note upon our arrival.
Everyone here was so amazing and I especially want to thank Natalina and Sylvia at the breakfast room. They made us feel like we were family...all of the crew was over the top helpful and so very nice.
I cannot wait to return and I think October was the perfect time to go.
Ciao! Grazie Mille!!

This is a quaint hotel in a perfect location close to Cinque Terre. It is situated near the ferry service and great restaurants/the local harbor. It is very easy to reach all five towns within an hour from your hotel and when you come back, you get a respite from the crowds. Our room had a beautiful view of the harbor, but the decor/environment could be updated. The staff was superb and helped with all our questions and always had great recommendations. If you're looking for someone to stay outside of La Spezia, definitely look here.

This review is for the restaurant, we were not guests of the hotel. We were a party of 8 ladies accomodated as a walk in reservation. From the first contact the staff were outstanding. Our QR covid codes were scanned on entry which was very comforting. We were seated in a quiet section of the restaurant with a dedicated waiter. We had the most wonderful cocktails passion fruit mohito, wine valpolicella classical superior and prosseco rosé along with still and sparkling water. For our menu choices we had 2 florentino steaks cooked to our liking (serving 4) ; beef cheeks ; pork belly all outstanding. For our desserts we had a selection of delicious dishes. Our waiter who deserves special mention was Brian P who catered to our every wish . If I could enter 10 stars 🌟 for this review I would.

This hotel owes me a refund. I was told in September that their accounting departing was 'taking care of it.' It is now the end of the year, and I still haven't received the refund, despite five follow up e-mails, all of which have been ignored. Now I cannot get anybody to answer the phone. Very poor customer service.

Accommodations, views, and village were excellent and charming.
To top it off, the staff were remarkable. I can’t emphasize this enough - Martina F and her team were unusually kind and welcoming. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, we felt valued and cared for.
This has been the best vacation accommodation we have ever had.

The service at the front desk, the restaurant and Venus Bar was exceptional. All of the staff were helpful and friendly. We had a wonderful stay.

Overall this hotel does not feel like a 5 star and is very over priced for what it includes. For £500 a night this didn’t even include parking a proper gym, a swimming pool OR EVEN BREAKFAST. Feels like we were extorted and could have paid the same price for a stunning hotel in Lake Como. The staff are nice and room size was decent but the decor is very basic and feels like a cheap hotel.

5-star location/views with 3-star food.
The rooms themselves are tiny, but the view from our window was idyllic. The setup of the restaurant / bar downstairs was nice — overlooking the whole port; however, the food quality (breakfast as well as evening / room service) desperately needs work. Staff are lovely.
As a base for your visit, I could not rate Portovenere highly enough. It’s a perfect jumping off point for those that want the experience of a beautiful, quiet port city (visited by mostly Italians!) with easy access to the 5 villages of Cinque Terre via ferry.

The personal hospitality Antonio and his team showed us during our three day stay was simply amazing and very much appreciated. Our room was fresh, modern and very clean with comfortable bed. The breakfast great with amazing views of the harbour whilst we dinned. We had dinner in the restaurant which had a good selection of local food and wine choices that we throughly enjoyed. The central location of this hotel was easy walking distance to all local sightseeing options and ferries to coastline villages. Highly recommend this hotel to travellers. Thank you 🙏

We chose to stay here to be close to Cinque Terre without being in the thick of major tourist destinations, and I’m happy with our choice. This is a small hotel with wonderful service and is well located within Portovenere to make walking locally easy.
I wouldn’t consider it a luxury hotel as it is advertised in some cases, but it was wonderful nonetheless. The breakfast buffet included has a handful of options as well as the ability to order hot food (mostly eggs) off the menu.

We came only for one night to Porto Venere and chose to stay at the Grand Hotel thinking we would have the best experience as it’s the highest ranked hotel in the area. Upon checking in (around 10:30am) the staff seemed extremely nice - offering to help us find a boat trip so we could see Cinque Terre the following day and suggested we go to their private beach to relax and have lunch as we waited for our room to be ready. We took them up on this and returned back to the hotel at 5pm to check into our room and asked about the boat they offered to look into for us, to find out nothing had been done. They told us they would call us shortly in our room with information and didn’t. We then followed up two hours later on our way to dinner to again hear that they did not have any information for us. At 8pm we were called at dinner to receive one option for €1,000 for the day - at that point we already found a private boat tour for €200 (just by walking around the port on our way to dinner).
Then upon checking out the following day we received a bill for of an additional €70 - €50 for their private beach, which they suggested when we arrived. Not only were we not told accessing their “private beach” came at an additional fee, we could have had these exact same chairs for €40 if purchased directly from The Sporting Club (which had no affiliation to the hotel). We only learned of this when we were being guided to our seat and requested to be sat in one of the empty chairs closer to the sea. We were denied this as the hotel only had three sets of chairs reserved in the back corner of the club - again not what you’d expect when paying €650+ per night at a “5-star property”. What made matters worse was the person at the front desk argued we were charged an added fee as we purchased a night at the hotel on a 3rd party site. The added confrontation made us uncomfortable and again, was not the level of service one would expect.
As the hotel manager has noted in his response, the person at the front desk did reverse the fee after we raised our dissatisfaction, but the tone and means in which this was managed made us incredibly uncomfortable and this wasn’t the first issue we ran into in the short time we were there. I will also note we were never offered a lift or towels by the hotel as the manager has commented. Would have loved this as I was also noticeably pregnant!
Whilst the manager of the hotel has stated they do continuous updates, I can assure you this property is not up to par with what you’d expect at a 5 star accommodation. It is a well located, extremely tired property with poor service. We didn’t even have our bags managed when we valeted our car at the property nor was our car pulled out for us upon departure. We would have forgiven the state of the property for good service, but unfortunately service wasn’t on the cards.
Whilst the hotel is well located in Porto Venere, almost all accommodation in Porto Venere will be well located. It’s a very small area and most accommodation is within the main port area and will share the view of the Grand Hotel. The quality of service was unforgivable - especially when paying €650+ per night. You’re best staying at an Airbnb or Hotel Belvedere (adjacent to the hotel and just as nice for €100-200) as the room will be of equivalent quality at a fraction of the price.

What can I say! It was exceptionally amazing! I can easily say that they managed to make our stay the most memorable for me and my husband! Their hospitality it out of this world, their food is mouthwatering (you have to eat at their restaurant) and the whole atmosphere of the hotel makes you feel as if you are home, yet maintaining luxury and intact service! Thank you for making this stay one of the best in my life ❤️

Superb outlet with a large choice of luxury stores (gucci, prada, burberry, michael kors, etc.). The prices are very affordable compared to their initial prices, you can find what you are looking for! To eat there are a lot of fast food (macdo, burger king) and also a few restaurants. To go there from Milan, I recommend taking the shuttle on Get your guide for 20 euros round trip per person, the drive takes about 1h30!

- 45 minutes from Rome central station
- limited brand (many brands are missing)
- good prices
- comparing it with other outlets it’s smallest little bit
- worth to visit if you in Rome

The outlet is fantastic and here is my advice before visiting please:
1- Come with full stomach ( not hungry) otherwise you’ll waist your time in long cue to order food because of the crowded
2- come as early as possible otherwise you’ll wait about 20 minutes to get inside each shop
3- come early to find cars 🚗 parking
4- bring a suitcase 🧳 with you to carry your purchased items otherwise you’ll be tired of carrying stuff
5- Dressed well especially if you’re visiting in Winter ❄️ + comfortable shoes

If you want to hunt designer goods with a good bargain, this is the place. Its not offer new arrival product, but some of the product still a steal deal. Prepare about 2-3 hours to enjoy your hunting in this big hunting ground. The place is too open to the sky with minimum shade. Buy 151eur in one receipt to eligible for tax refund, please ask the cashier as the minimum value might change from time to time. You can not combine several receipt, it must be in one receipt to be eligible for tax claim.

Waste of a whole day. Two or three hours are enough instead. But the shuttle only allows for a whole day's travel. And also suitable only for those who want to buy a lot of brands and like shopping malls. Those who come to Milan for a few days, it is not worth going all the way there and wasting an entire day.
Beyond that, a nice place, beautiful and designed, very comfortable to walk around

Here are my pro + and cons -
+ Easily reachable from Milan and Genoa
+ During the sale season you can find good brands for cheap prices
+ You can visit the other clothes shops such as h&m OVS and mega supermarkets including electronic shops which are located near to this outlet
+ Many restaurants including fast foods are available
+ Enough free parking available
+ Amazing architecture
+ They speak English in most of the shops
- Always packed, so crowded (people from whole europe visits here even from Russia 😳)
- Prices are expensive
- Mostly you wait in lines in front of the outlet shops (Covid regulations)
- Compulsory mask and hand disinfection
- Very hot during the summer

An outdoor outlet mall, clean, organised and have almost all the big brands. It is 150 mins from Milan. You can go by taxi and cost you about 200 euro or by a shuttle bus that cost about 20 euro. Try to choose your time carefully because weather can make your experience are very bad especially in summer. They have variety of restaurants. Prices are not that cheap it differ than airport (tax free) by about 10%. Quite different than American outlets which give much low prices.
My experience was not bad. I recommend a visit but not a must.

Vast place to wonder, immaculately maintained, super clean wash room, good brands but you have to look deep to spot the discounted stuff. Most stuff are reasonably priced.
Food kiosk and McDonald served nice food to munched. You dun have time for a full meal. Take the entire day to shop this place.

This is by far the largest outlet I’ve come across in North Italy. They have plenty of brands to select from, and the walking area is well organized and quite decent. Plenty of seating and eatery’s to choose from. One could spend an easy 1-2 days here; mainly heavy shoppers. And July is the month of heavy sale, I believe.
Fahd Batayneh فهد بطاينة — Google review
The bigger brands like Gucci, Prada, Fendi, Burberry, Loro Piana... have more goods and selections to choose from (and just a matter of personal taste to get anything you like). Celine is disappointing though. Discount-wise is quite attractive.
Overall the outlet does have quite some shops to browse for a day leisurely. A few restaurants to choose from, and some reside on the other side of the main road which you can cross by a bridge.
We took the shuttle service from Milan Centrale. The morning trip took quite long as some shoppers bought tickets at the spot when onboarding and also stopped mid-point for more pickup. The bus left Centrale at 10:15 (instead of the scheduled 10:00) and arrived at the outlet around 11:50. The return trip left on time at 18:30 and arrived back to Centrale at 20:00. The shuttle staff was pleasant though.

When in search of designer brands (Gucci, Prada, Armani) or discounts on my favorites (Coach, Nike, Levis Tommy H.), I go here. Prices in Milan city center exceed my budget but I will always find something here. It's also near some nice vinyards. A good day trip from Milan or when traveling to Piedmont region.
Celia A. — Google review
Although the place is far from Milan, there is a direct bus tour from Milano Centrale. The ticket for the trip costs €25, and the bus departs at 09:00, arriving at 11:00. This gives you ample time to explore all the shops there. Please note the time schedule for the ticket; if your return ticket is for 16:15, you should be at the bus by that time, or else you will need to purchase a flexible ticket for an additional €5 and wait until the next hour to return to Milan. During my visit, not many shops were having sales, but the prices were reasonable, and the workers welcomed everyone with a smile. My advice is to go there on weekdays when it’s less crowded, making it easier to shop. The prices for food in the area are not very cheap but are acceptable. Anyway, I would like to visit again during the festive or sales seasons

The Galata Museo del Mare (GAM) is a large maritime museum in Genoa, Italy. It has exhibits on the history of shipping and navigation, with reconstructions of ships and a moored submarine. The museum is well-known for its extensive collection of original artifacts from all over the world.
Very interesting museum to visit. Tears of joy as my great grandfather left from Genova to immigrate to Brazil in the 1920's , so it was very touching to me to see how all the process went through for him. It was a very emotional experience for me. If not at least for the historical aspect of it. I also liked the written letters by Christophe Colombus, who was originally from Genova.
Edson Bittencourt Imperico — Google review
A big and good museum. The maritime museum offers a good overview of Genova’s naval and maritime activities from the late middle ages to now. The have several life size ships inside the building that you can walk through, which is impressive, especially the medieval galley. They provide much information, but not always with a translation of the Italian. A special treat is the visit to the submarine nearby, which is amazing. There is an interesting part on emigration and immigration. Some floors have special exhibitions. The top floor offers a wonderful view of the city with some indications of important structures. If you would find the museum a bit too big, because the entire visit can take a few hours, you can always skip parts.

I like maritime museums, they’re a quick way of learning the history of a city & culture. We came in knowing little about Genoa, we left impressed & wanting to learn more. The museum is laid out well so it’s fairly easy to navigate. It’s not overly large, so you won’t get museum-fatigue. Some exhibits are dusty & looking a bit forlorn, others were obviously sponsored by a corporation & quite spiffy. Did we wish there were more placards in English? Sure. But no matter, there was enough to get the gist. Definitely definitely go up to the roof, sit & soak in the view

A truly fantastic day out! If you're spending time in Genoa, I highly recommend a visit to this museum.
As an English speaking guest, I found it a bit difficult to understand most of the detailed descriptions of artefacts on display (since all are written in Italian). There are some QR codes dotted around to access a translated version of the displays (there is free WiFi at this museum!).
PRO TIP: Download the Google Translate app to your phone! Use this to automatically translate descriptions and live translate conversations into your desired language (to fully understand the interactive videos on the upper floors).
BEST BITS: Visit the interactive "Immigration to America" to experience what it was like for millions of Italians migrating to the USA. You can grab a free passport and travel documents at the beginning of this exhibit on the 3rd floor.
Take a tour inside a real submarine! The S518 Nazario Sauro is docked in the harbour directly outside the museum. You'll be given a hard-hat and a hairnet at reception at the end of your tour around the museum (just show them your ticket for entry). You can also collect audio guides from this location.
Ticket prices (for museum and submarine visit 2022):
Adults: 19€
Concessions: 17€
Children from 4-12yrs 14€
(Please note children under 3 cannot go inside the submarine)
You can also buy tickets for only the museum at a cheaper rate (prices between 13€ to 8€)

It was a bit boring ,the kids didn't have fun there.
Prices are too high for what is available.
A lot of paintings without lighting to see as it should.
The submarine does not take more than 5 minutes to visit, but it is nice to see inside it once in a lifetime.
My children are 3 and 6 years old and I find it is not for their age because they are not having fun.

We bought the Genova museum card which gives 24h access to many museums. Unfortunately no way near all... Which they don't do a lot to tell you about.
For example this museum was included - but just not the submarine - which they wanted additional 6 EUR/person for... (Didn't buy)
In my opinion, this is not reasonable and ruins the supposedly good deal with the museum card.
Regarding this museum, there was too little info in English to make it interesting.
Woman at counter did nothing to make it a good experience and never informed about any audio guide etc.
Several interesting points about navigation was impossible to understand as only Italian.
The emigration part was good - you learned about the trip conditions etc.

Great museum with lots of things to see about genovas story and in general italy and immigration. Majority of things is in italian so its difficult for tourists that dont know language

Huge museum. Very interesting. Recommend. Also go inside the submarine - buy the biglietto intero. I bought mine from Tiqets. I arrived earlier than the time booked but lady at ticket office said booking is not according to any time frame and let us in.

The museum is spread over 5 floors. In the, partly historical, areas of the building, the exhibitions are sorted according to different eras and topics. The rooms are detailed and lovingly designed and are a work of art in themselves. So you walk through authentic interiors of ships, through Brazilian huts, through a submarine and much more. Two huge, faithful replicas of ships can be freely explored. The display cases and exhibits are very authentically staged. There are also sub-action options in some areas. Unfortunately, the multilingualism of all the information conveyed in the museum fails. A guide for non-Italian speakers would be helpful. Online, the information in some rooms can be displayed in different languages.
For children under 4 years the museum is only conditionally suitable, since they find only few Possibilities of interaction for their age group, besides the entrance to the submarine in the port (in the ticket included) for children under 4 years is not allowed.
Once at the top, you can enjoy the view over Genoa and the harbor from the panoramic terrace.

Awesome museum with stunning exhibition spread out across multiple floors as well as submarine tour (definitely recommend unless you suffer from claustrophobia). Stunning observation deck with nice port and town overview. Within walking distance to the town centre. Plenty of interactive boards as well.

We visited the museum as we had a rainy day and needed something to pass the time. We were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed our visit!
We spent over 3 hours at the museum and enjoyed every moment. It is easy to lose interest in some museums when you visit for a long time, but we did not get that at all. The exhibits were well presented and varied enough to keep things interesting. There is also something for everyone, including history, art, and interactive exhibits.
Highly recommend giving this museum a visit if you are in the area.

If you enjoy maritime history and exhibits, put the Galata Museo del Mare on your list of things to do in Genoa. Five floors of interesting exhibits across hundreds of years related to sailing and shipping over the seas. Kind staff, great panoramic views from the top floor, and though I was solo on my visit, this would be a good experience for families as well. Only challenge I had was, with my limited and lacking Italian language skills, I didn't get to fully engage with several of the exhibits that were in Italian only. Fortunately there is Google Translate to help out.

Beautiful maritime musuem with much to offer. 17 euros and you have the whole musuem and submarine at your disposal. Only recommendation is that a gift shop full of genoa history would have been a bonus
Davinio Dwarkasing — Google review
Definitely worth the cost of the ticket!! Five floors of exposition and a great view on the museum roof. It has plenty of interactive activities, quite unusual in Italy. They are great as well. You have a simulator for driving boats and submarines. The museum drives you during the naval evolution giving and hints of the seamans during the different historic periods. The immigration section should be a mandatory visit for all children.

Brilliant museum with so much to see! Definitely bring kids to see the ships and climb down to a submarine. Museum is very looked after and Genovese people take a lot of pride in it. Definitely visit the emigration floor (4) also to see life on the ship and climb to the very top for a panoramic view of the city! Definitely worth a visit!

Really nice museum for Maritime, ships all about sailing history. There is an actual submarine you can enter and that is a great experience

Great museum, very unpleasant staff (especially the older lady with glasses from reception). She was very annoyed by every question we had and she answered very "edgy" (we if they had an audio guide available and from where we can take helmets for submarine). Altough everywhere in the museum it is written you can acces the audio guide with the ticket code and 1 euro, she said no audio guide exists. She also sent us all the time to her colleague, meaning to change the row and sit in line again altough her colleague was 30 cm in her right and she was free, no one was behind us and we already sat in line.

Interesting. I thought it had enough English for me, but I can see why some people complain about only the Italian for a lot of it. I still found it enjoyable, but maybe a bit high priced for 17 Euro. The front staff were extremely nice to me. Lots of interesting things to see and the history of Genoa and boats are interesting enough for a few hour visit.

Amazing experience in a fantastic interactive museum. Galata Museum is a journey through history to understand the progression of ships and how naval instruments change to guide the navigation, how ancient people lived on top of ships, the vital role of migration over time, it is an inclusive experience that will engage everyone with the perfect naval reconstruction, photograph, 3Ds experience and the different structure of each floor. The last one was a wonderful surprise: the last 12 hours on the Andrea Doria, the recreation is wonderful and the reward is the breathtaking view on the city on the last floor. An adventure to do not miss for adults, children, families in which everyone will find his own space.
Old Port Bar, also known as Porto Antico, is a historic waterfront area in Genoa that has been active since the fifth century BC. Renzo Piano's renovations have transformed the area into a vibrant hub featuring attractions such as an aquarium, museums, an open-air pool, and numerous restaurants and bars. The port holds significant historical landmarks like Palazzo San Giorgio, which was once a jail and housed the world's first bank in the early 1400s.
Friendly service and great food. We stopped in for lunch today. The food was incredible. Our server was very good and spoke a fair amount of English. The view of the port added to the overall wonderful experience!

Whilst walking away got called back saying we could have a drink if we did not stay for more than 15 minutes. Next we sat waiting for them to take our order but got ignored for several minutes until we eventually walked out.

The Aquarium of Genoa is the largest aquarium in Europe and features around 12,000 different species of fish and marine mammals. It's also home to six million litres (1.6m gallons) of water, making it one of the biggest aquariums in the world. The size of some of the tanks is impressive, especially for creatures like dolphins and sharks. Kids will love exploring all the exhibits, from manatees to coral reefs.
Book an early entrance (by 10am) so that there are fewer people so you can enjoy and see exhibits more easily. Price paid is fair. Lots to see. Don't miss the jellyfish and vivarium section. You need to cross to another side. Easily missed as you might think you're done.

Excellent aquarium. The layout and flow offer you different perspectives of the sharks, dolphins and seals at different points. The various world regions and animals are thorough. The location is easy and beautiful. A fun 2-3 hours. Buy tickets online through their official website and be careful of discounted sites.

I visited Genoa on a cruise and went to the aquarium. It was so amazing!!!! I love animals so much and they had some cool and really cute animals. I would highly recommend going here if you ever visit Genoa. Going earlier is definitely better before field trips.

A very nice aquarium with a variety of fish and aquatic animals. It’s worthwhile visiting and you could easily spend a couple of hours if not half a day. If you are with kids, you should plan on spending half a day here as there are plenty to see and will keep the kids interested. The exotic fish and marine life is well kept although one can always argue if the environment they are kept in is truly fair, especially for the marine mammals such as the dolphins and larger fish such as the sharks. The penguins are an added attraction here. You could take a break at the cafe inside the aquarium and spend some time taking in the views from the deck, with the views of the port.
Localizer — Google review
I visited the aquarium with my school and it was a really nice experience. There is an enormous collection of all kind of sea creatures. We also saw penguins, crocodiles and turtles. Obviously there were also scary and strange sharks. Furthermore we were lucky enough to see a dolphin show.
If you plan to visit this place I highly recommend you call them and get your tickets in advanced, because it can get very crowded very fast.

After a quick breakfast, we visited the Aquarium of Genoa. We recommend going early in order to beat the crowds. It’s never that big of a crowd, although any crowd will obstruct your viewing experience. It’s very impressive, their selection. Penguins, piranhas, sturgeon, manatees, seals, dolphins, sharks, chameleons, jellyfish - they’ve got it all. Totally fun for the whole family and very fun to shoot video.

Make sure to buy your ticket before you go, queues out the front can be ridiculously long, and exhibits are crazily busy, especially in school holidays. Amazing array of creatures and sea life, although was wary that some enclosures felt insufficiently deep or wide. Gift shop #sucked.

Ivan Pelizzari — Google review
Very outdated, poorly maintained aquarium with dark lighting and foggy uncleaned glass. Some exhibits were nice, like the Seahorses. Be mindful that the signage directing you to the exhibits is very poor, you do not get a visitor map and there are few signs informing you of the right way to proceed. Especially confusing with the upper and lower levels. After we visited the Penguin enclosure we were brought to a giant white building that had little signs, other than for lockers or bathrooms. There was a big desk that read “Behind The Scenes” and that requires an extra ticket (€8). So we turned back, not even realizing there was another big section of the aquarium after that. Very poor layout and guidance. When we asked about the other exhibits on the pier, they told us to go outside and we will find the Biosphere €5 extra) and other things. That is when we realized there is a Dolphin tank and Tropical Rainforest area… but it was too late. Once you go outside, you can not re-enter. Of course, it’s sad that they keep dolphins in a small tank anyway, so probably better not to see that. And finally, we were surrounded by aggressive migrants forcing us to take bracelets and souvenirs and begging for money along the entire area of the aquarium. From the entrance to the exit. Almost no security around.
Overall, this aquarium should be priced around €15 for the quality of the current experience. After our visit, we felt let down and overcharged. I hope they consider a major renovation to improve the exhibits and signage and consider discontinuing the dolphin shows and instead use the facility to rehabilitate and release injured or abandoned dolphins.

A good price compared to some I've been too. Some animals we never thought we would see so one very happy girlfriend. The tropical pool was incredible. But then some others were rather Barron so felt sorry for them.

Boccadasse is a primarily residential area that extends from an old fishing village. The houses are painted in soft pastel tones and adorned with green shutters, creating an inviting atmosphere. Along the pebble beach and harbor, one can find ice cream shops and relaxed bars, while local trattorias serve fish dishes and Genoese specialties with outdoor seating available. Visitors can enjoy views of the sea from the terrace near the Church of St. Anthony of Boccadasse.
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Montallegro is a significant holy site constructed amidst verdant surroundings during the mid-1500s. It can be accessed through an old mule trail or a cable car ride, and it boasts stunning vistas of the mountains and seaside landscapes. This unique church is an excellent destination for peaceful prayer and offers breathtaking views both inside and outside its walls. Gorgeous sanctuary, with a very interesting story and stunning views of Rapallo, Santa Margherita and Portofino below. Easily accessible by cablecar or by walking an ancient mule path, but you can also drive there. Inside the sanctuary you can find lots of pictures, photos, papers and letters of people who received "miracles" from the sanctuary. There's also a few bars and restaurants nearby, and lots of beautiful hikes departing from here. Highly recommended, one of my favorite places in town.

The Ponte Gobbo or Hunchbacked Bridge is a historic structure dating back to Roman times, reconstructed during the 17th century with an uneven path. This well-maintained bridge is a must-visit landmark where visitors can capture breathtaking photos on and under the bridge. Parking options include pay parking in Piazza San Francesco or free parking along Via Sopramura, though free parking near the bridge can be found at Borgo del Trebbia.
Beautiful place, in fact the village has been awarded as the most beautiful village in Italy couple of years back. I fully agree with that! Since we went on Xmas day, there were literally nobody around. The drive through the hill (last 10-15mins of drive) is bit difficult since the width of the road is just enough for one vehicle. But with almost no traffic, seems to be ok.
I love to visit the tourist places when it is empty, and I am glad I picked the Xmas day for the visit. There is a restaurant near this bridge, but was closed.
The village also was very quite. Just my kind of place!

The protected coastline of Cinque Terre National Park boasts fishing villages with vibrant hues perched at the bottom of sea cliffs. Access to the park includes unlimited train travel between La Spezia and the five Cinque Terre towns, along with free entry to select museums and attractions for a full day. Explore these five villages within a day by taking a train to Riomaggiore, followed by three possible options. For an unforgettable experience, consider embarking on the 1.
Getting here was a hassle but it’s nice here. Get to take some nice photographs and some descent hikes. The food here is not that good as I’m pretty sure it’s all tourist traps but it’s still fun to wonder around. Some of the villages are better than others. I would highly recommend visiting if possible.
Allen Lin — Google review
You need to pay a 7.5 eur fee to enter the national park and use the trails, unless you have train tickets to visit all 5 villages. The trail is very steep in some places and there is no shade in some parts. It was already quite crowded and very hot in May, so I suggest visiting it earlier than that (or in Autumn I guess). The experience was still worth it!

This park consists of 5 coastal villages that are absolutely beautiful! I would recommend taking the train because the roads are very steep and narrow and parking is limited. The roads also take a lot longer to go from village to village and if your not comfortable driving on tiny roads along cliffs I would take the train. Explore the back alleys in the towns as they hold all the charm!

Beautiful area with tranquil villages on cliffs by the sea. There is a very nice hike passing through all of them which isn’t too hard. There is also a railroad between them so you can hike one way and get the train back. This place can get very crowded with tourists but it is as beautiful as the pictures so you should definitely visit.

This was one of my favorite places we visited on our trip to Italy. We had a beautiful lunch at the edge of the cliff, walked on the beach, shopped, and enjoyed the beautiful views. Getting from town to town was easy with the train. Next time I am Italy, I plan on staying a night or two instead of just a day as there wasn't enough time to see and enjoy everything.

Beautiful.. I suggest to visit by boat (private if possible) instead of train, unless you take the hike. Book an hotel or room in one of the villages, less tourists after 6PM. Read the history of this place(s), it makes your respect grow.

Had an amazing one-day trip and even managed to do one of the hiking trails as well. There's a lot of tourists so the cities are really packed during summer. As long as you hydrate and bring appropriate shoes for all the walking you have to do, you're guaranteed to have a great time

A unique Italian experience. Walk through the tiny fishing towns and you are transported back to a simpler time, with real Italian culture and great views. Each town is different in it's own way.
But tourism has also clearly left it's mark and during the day it will be very crowded. Crowded to the point where you can hardly walk through the town and getting service at a restaurant requires you to wait in line for 30 minutes.
There a no public toilets, so you will need to order something at a restaurant to use thiers.
- Come early
- You will have to walk 5-20 minutes from the parking lot depending on the town.

AMAZING! A must do when visiting Italy! A very unique experience!
Watch out though, food and drinks are all very expensive so pick your places. Most places don't put prices for the more popular stuff so ask before you sit.
Don't waste money on the three day pass for the trains, just pay for train tickets as you go.

The best way to visit Cinque Terre is with the train from La Spezia Central Station.
The train departs every 20 to 30 mins. It takes 20 to 30 mins to arrive at the furtherest point: Monterroso.
A bit of view over each place:
Monterosso - good beaches (filled with fine peebles). It is not as good looking as the others but still has an appeal. Try the orange gelato in one of the gelaterias. It's really good. Alternatively, just have coffee on the beach.
Vernazza - the most popular and most picturesque. Highly recommended. Almost every angle is a kodak moment. Try to have one of the many focaccia. They are delicious.
Caroniglia - a tricky one as it sits on a sheer cliff. So prepare yourself for a 10 minute ascent towards the town and 10 mins for descent. It is the most different one but I enjoyed it the most. Have a look for vantage points from up above over the other 4 cinque terre villages.
Manarola - a beautiful village by the sea with the same characteristics of the other 3.
Rio Maggiore is the second most beautiful village in my view.
Beautiful view from above and below.
A few tips: unless you really enjoy hiking, I'd suggest you hop on and hop off with the train. You can see more and get tired less. Don't worry, you'll cover plenty of steps regardless. Google Maps doesn't represent the true time for a walk as there is plenty to climb and descent.
If you are stressed for time, I'd go Vernazza, Corniglia, and Rio Maggiore . Try and do Rio during the golden hour. The colours are amazing!
Guy Golan — Google review
We joined a group tour to see the 5 villages. They were all lovely but you really don't get enough time in each that way. I suggest staying in the area and having 2-3 days to visit them all. Or just visit one or two. We hiked between two villages and the trail and views were lovely! As was the cruise back to the starting point although were exhausted by that point. There are great local restaurants and shops in each village that are worth visiting. I am attaching a few photos from various villages we saw along the way!

The beautiful and brightly coloured houses that scatter the background of the Cinque Terre National Park is truly a bucket list item that you need to tick off.
Depending on the time of year, you can walk the hiking trails between the five towns. We were here on the 30th April and only 2 tracks were open.
It is worth buying the day passes which give you unlimited bus, train and ferry rides as well as access to the walking trails and the public toilets at the stations.
Try and arrive early and avoid moving between the towns from midday to 2pm when it's really busy.
Each of the 5 towns has something different to offer.
Highly recommend

Cinque Terre is a small village in the north of Italy, built along the winding Mediterranean coastline with five very close villages (five small villages from north to south: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Riomaggiore). The biggest feature of Cinque Terre is its winding and narrow colorful alleys, built on sea rocks, with beautiful views of the sea and sky.
Cinque Terre was listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997 and was designated a national park in 1999. La Spezia is the only place you must pass to enter the Cinque Terre. There are many trains to the Cinque Terre. It only takes 20 minutes to get there. It is generally more convenient to live here. The means of transportation between the various villages in the Cinque Terre is the train, with a single fare of more than 3 euros. If you ride multiple times in a day, you can also buy a day ticket. Personally, I feel that the five villages have similar styles, so you don’t need to visit them all, just choose 2-3 that you like.
Martin Miler — Google review
This is truly one of the most beautiful places I have visited! We traveled there by train from Florence. We spent three days in Cinque Terre. Our base camp was in Riomaggiore. You can very easily reach every town with the train. Or better yet, you can hike from town to town.
On the first day we took the train to Corniglia, and from there we hiked to Manarola. On the second day we took the train to Monterosso al Mare, and from there we hiked to Vernazza. The seaside towns are beautiful, but they get very busy with tourists during the day. That's the best time to hit the trails! You have the choice between the shorter seaside trails, or the longer, more challenging hill-top trails. The seaside trail will be busier with tourists. It was recommended to us to take the hilltop trails, and boy we are glad we did. The views were breathtaking, and we had the trails pretty much to ourselves, walking through vineyards and smaller communities. Then by the time we made it to the next town, the tourist rush was over and we could relax quietly on a patio and enjoy the town.
Cinque Terre was my favorite place to visit during our trip to Italy, and we're thinking about returning for a longer stay.

Make sure you have plenty of time to explore all the small towns, try the local food and enjoy the sea. Amazing trip, travel in and out is easy although it can get crowded but train stations are easily accessible, suitable for groups and families.

Did a few hikes and visited all five villages plus Levento.
Stayed in Monterossa probably the nicest one. The big statue is from the end of the beach past new town
T A — Google review
Cinque Terre is beautiful, but difficult due to over-tourism. We went in late October (2023), when the weather was turning from fall to more wintery, and the local trains and towns were packed. The lower trails were closed, and one can escape hordes of people by climbing the difficult upper trails. Worth the effort!
I probably wouldn't visit Cinque Terre a second time, as there are many other, beautiful spots to hike along the ocean without crowds, like the north coast of California for one.
Manarola was our favorite of the Cinque Terre, as well as the town of Levanto, to the north.
WRL — Google review
Visiting Cinque Terre is like stepping into a postcard. The vibrant colors of the houses against the backdrop of lush green hills and sparkling blue waters create a visually striking scene. Each village has its own unique charm and character, making it worth exploring all five during your visit.
Monterosso al Mare is the largest of the villages and boasts beautiful sandy beaches. It's a great spot to relax by the sea and enjoy fresh seafood at one of the local restaurants. Vernazza is often considered the most picturesque village, with its charming harbor and iconic church tower. Walking through its narrow streets, you'll discover cozy cafes and shops selling local products.
Corniglia is perched on a hilltop, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding area. Its unique location allows you to enjoy stunning vistas from almost anywhere in the village. Manarola is known for its romantic atmosphere and is a favorite spot for sunset viewing. The village's terraced vineyards produce some of the region's best wines.
Riomaggiore is the southernmost village and is famous for its vibrant houses cascading down the hillside towards the sea. The village has a lively atmosphere and offers opportunities for snorkeling and diving.
Cinque Terre is a hiker's paradise, with trails connecting the villages and providing incredible views of the coastline. The Sentiero Azzurro (Blue Trail) is the most popular, offering a scenic route between the villages.
In addition to its natural beauty, Cinque Terre is known for its delicious Ligurian cuisine, including pesto, fresh seafood, and focaccia bread. The region's wines, such as Sciacchetrà, are also a must-try.

1.A must visit place in Italy to enjoy the spectacular beaches with colorful man made houses on the rocks.
2.It's best when visited during summer to enjoy more but any season visit will not disappoint you though..!!
3. You can complete all places in cinque Terre in 3 days.
4. Good train transport facilities available to visit all 5 villages with every hour train frequency..!!
Pontremoli, a charming small city in the Tuscany region of central Italy, is known for its historical significance and picturesque landscapes. The name "Pontremoli" translates to "Trembling Bridge," derived from the prominent bridge across the Magra River. This quaint commune was once a Latin Catholic bishopric and continues to exude an old-world charm with its architecture and cultural heritage.
Porto Venere is a picturesque village located on the Ligurian coast of northwestern Italy. The area is home to the Porto Venere Regional Natural Park, which offers hiking trails and diving opportunities. Palmaria Island, within the park, features beautiful beaches and caves to explore. Visitors can also admire the Gothic-style Church of St. Peter perched on a rocky headland and the ancient Castello Doria fortress with stunning views of the Gulf of Poets.
Nestled in the Apuan Alps of Tuscany, Antro del Corchia Levigliani is a captivating cave system renowned for its striking stalactites and dramatic lava formations. Accessible via a bus ride from the nearby ticket office, this off-the-beaten-path attraction offers guided tours lasting around 2-2.5 hours, providing an opportunity to explore its fascinating interior filled with intricate stalactites and serene lakes.
Beautiful cave. The tour guide always took the time to explain everything in English as well even though only me and my family didn't speak Italian. Make sure to bring a warm sweater and long pants!
Eszter Barabas — Google review
The guide knew was he was talking about. There is no more audioguide for non Italian speakers. The guide will do both language, which is a considerate and good thing. The downside is we sometimes couldn't hear because we were too far behind. There is not much time to appreciate the last part of the cave since we must follow the group. Overall it was still a nice experience

Amazed by the wonder of nature in this enormous cave.. very informative and engaging guides Noemi and Virginia.. would definitely recommend a visit..
Monica Malatesta — Google review
This is out of the beaten path attraction. You park near the ticket office and reach the cave by a bus (included in the tickets). You can only enter with a guided tour of about 2-2.5 hours. You can combine it with a 45 minute tour to the mercury mine nearby.
Not all guides are fluent in English, but you can check this with the park by emails (and reserve a spot). There is a small kiosk at the cave entrance.

Located in the Garfagnana area, Fortezza Verrucole Archeopark offers a unique medieval experience. The castle is well-maintained by a passionate team that organizes guided tours and historical re-enactments. Visitors are advised to bring their own food and drinks as there are no refreshment points nearby. The friendly staff, dressed in character costumes, provide an authentic experience and demonstrate medieval technologies like the trebuchet.
Incredibly restored and well kept castle, with amazing views in all directions. Friendly staff, cheap entrance, cheap food and drinks on-site. Just beware the walk up (from the parking) is quite steep and long (10-15 minutes).

This beautiful Medieval fort has reopened, a historical place to visit. Thank you to the staff for the fun, info-packed tour. We hope more people, children, families will come to enjoy.

Great spot with amazing views. Admission is probably only worth it if you take the tour or it is fully open with events on.

What an amazing place. Staff dressed in character costume and a lovely, authentic museum showing what it would have been like to live here back in the day. The staff showed us how the trebuchet worked (don’t worry about health & safety, as long as no one stands in the target area 100yds away, it’ll be ok). Loved every minute of our visit. Run by the community so please support them with a visit. Extremely reasonable entry cost.

Amazing 10th Century fortress, restored, and presented as an interactive experience. Multilingual presentors, in period dress guide you through the site. Worth the 5 euro entry and the steep 10 minute climb.

Incredible!!! Friendly staff even dressed up with the terrible August heat (I admire and respect their dedication) a great tour inside the fortress with a lot of interesting things learnt. Tickets were surprisingly affordable (5€ for the guided tour) which I think is cheap for the location and history. There is a little bit of a steep walk uphill to arrive but is definitely worth it when you get to the top. Definitely a place to visit!

The Baptistery of San Giovanni is a religious building in Pisa, Italy. The round edifice was begun in 1152 and completed in the 14th century under the influence of two famous sculptors, Nicola Pisano and Giovanni Pisano. It is one of the most outstanding works of Gothic art in Italy. The baptistery stands on an octagonal base and has a hexagonal marble pulpit by Nicola Pisano, considered to be one of his finest pieces of sculpture.
One of the most beautiful monuments with the leaning tower of Pisa at the back side. The white colour attracts you to see and keep looking. The area is also very nice. You can also come to visit during sunset or at night for a different view. It's beautiful!! Must visit !!
MIHIR SATHE — Google review
You need to buy tickets not at the door but aromas the grass in a building. Doing it ahead of time is easier for sure. But on not crowded days it’s not too bad to do it on the spot
Steve Thomas — Google review
Wow, you always see picks of the Tower, but I had no idea the rest of the buildings in the area were so gorgerous. The door facing the Cathedral is exquisite. Inside the builders have created an incredible space. It's full of interesting historical details, if the Tower never existed the Cathedral complex would be just as busy with tourists.

A must see when visiting Pisa, and the inside visit is worth the money and time. Very beautiful and quite babtistery. Put it on the must see list in Pisa
jannik hansen — Google review
Know that you must buy tickets to enter. Once inside it is huge and with stunning design and architecture. Get up to the balcony inside as well for a better view of the main area and altar!
I F — Google review
It's worth the price of admission for the views alone. Up in the top, looking towards the Cathedral and Leaning Tower, was my favorite spot in Pisa. It wasn't crowded - the ticketing helps keep it manageable - and you have a perfect view over the piazza.
Adrian Monaco — Google review
Lovely architecture. Easy to see every sightseeing from Pisa in just one location
Taty Andrade Junqueira — Google review
It is more beautiful from outside than inside, but it is worth it to buy ticket to go inside for the hourly demo of building acoustics and the view of the cathedral from the top floor.
Bhavishya Goel — Google review
A beautiful round building right in front of the duomo. It seems to be larger than the one in Florence. It also offers an upper gallery for people to walk around.
Ih-Chin Chen — Google review
Tickets required. 7 for building only or 10 for the hole site minus the tower.
Baptistery looked cool outside but undergoing renovations inside really limited what you could see as even the entire dome was covered when we went.
R — Google review
The Battistero costs $7 or $10 if purchased as a combination ticket which includes the Baptistery, Camposanto, Museo dell'opera and the Sinopie Museum or you can purchase a combination ticket with the leaning tower of Pisa which costs $27 which includes the tower, Baptistery, Camposanto, Museo dell'opera and the Sinopie Museum. It is cheaper than purchasing them all separately. You need a ticket to enter the Battistero and it is easier to purchase in advance. When booking the ticket for the leaning tower of Pisa we were not informed that there was a religious ceremony taking place that day. We were restricted from entering the Battistero for up to 2 hours due to this ceremony. Just be aware if you are limited on time you may not be able to see the building. In the building they demonstrate the sound by someone singing. The inside of the building is beautiful but the outside is just as beautiful. There is a grass area outside were you can sit and admire the building.
Lynn Higgins — Google review
Nice structure. Not like the one in Florence though. Overall, the surrounding atmosphere makes it look interesting and great. The lush green grass makes the view even better.
Sumanta Chakraborty — Google review
Beautiful building worth a look. We got the combo ticket with the tower and museum but probably not worth paying separately. Make sure you go the upper floor since you can get an amazing view of the church and tower!

Persa Maerz — Google review
Beautiful structure! I thought this was interesting and neat to see! I got the combo tickets that bundled the leaning tower tickets and a bunch of other attractions here. The inside of this building was quite impressive, and we climbed to the top for an even better view! I recommend checking it out, but with the bundle of the tower tickets!
David Nagel-Nunez — Google review
It was gorgeous and worth viewing for the price, 10 euro to see all three, but if you must skip something... This was the last impressive monument in my opinion.
Jim — Google review
Visited this place in May 2017. The exterior of the baptistery is very detailed and ornate, traces of Romanesque architecture can be seen in some elements but it is predominantly Gothic in style. Seeing the exterior walls of Carrara marble in the early morning light is a sight to behold.
The interior is quite a stark contrast to the exterior as it appears very plain and has little to no ornamentation. In my opinion, only the pulpit is adorned.
Christopher Calara — Google review
Actually the building is much more impressive from the outside than the inside. If you have a full tour ticket then you can get in, otherwise I don’t think it’s worth the money.
Karol Zajączkowski — Google review
There was no line, we had the bundle tickets. Nice and cool inside if you want a break from the heat. A lot of people, especially tour groups only see the main floor and don't go upstairs which has a great view of the cathedral.
da31fox — Google review
The highlight of the visit to the baptistery was witnessing the steward demonstrating the acoustics of the dome.
There is a 10 second echo which allows him to harmonise with himself. We watched this from the upper balcony and it was very powerful.
The rest of the building is majestic and in keeping with the other religious buildings on the site
The Piazza del Duomo is a grand and picturesque plaza in the heart of Florence, Italy. It's home to the leaning tower and the cathedral of Santa Maria, both well-known tourist attractions. The square is also popular for picnicking, and its tranquil atmosphere makes it a great place to relax after a day of touring.

Very nice plaza. First time here and it was absolutely amazing experience. Most of this place it was built between 12 and 16 century, and how still standing, they way still looks its awesome. The whole plaza is something else you need to experience. The Cathedral sculpture inside and out are amazing, incredible designs in every angle. The tower very nice, also the rest of the buildings in this plaza are very good and deserves more than five stars.

Great historical place. The tower looks spectacular and it’s history is amazing. Lots of market stalls and shops. Plus a variety of restaurants. As it is a quite touristy place you also expect higher prices. Still, some places provide very good ratio on price and quality. Parking facilities very close and easy to get to.

Highlight of the trip. Beautiful structures. Didn't know that there were two other beautiful structures in addition to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Wish I had enough time to explore all 3 structures. Definitely a must revisit location.

In this square, there's the world-famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. The way it's built is quite fascinating. Almost everyone who comes here wants to take a picture while pretending to hold up the leaning tower with their hands. It's a fun and popular thing to do!
Chandra Kanth Reddy — Google review
I visited Piazza del Duomo on a sunny day in August. The square was crowded with people, but I was able to find a spot to stand and take in the amazing sight of the Leaning Tower. I was in awe of its size and beauty, and I couldn't help but smile as I took pictures and imagined what it would be like to climb to the top.
After admiring the Leaning Tower for a while, I wandered around the square and took a closer look at the other buildings. The Cathedral is a beautiful example of Romanesque architecture, and I was impressed by the intricate detail of the sculptures on the facade. The Baptistery is also a stunning building, and I enjoyed walking around the interior and admiring the white marble columns.
I spent a few hours exploring Piazza del Duomo, and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. It is a truly unique and special place, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Pisa.
* I was expecting a lot from this place and it totally amused me.
* As usual, people from different countries were visiting this piece of art and the atmosphere was cheerful even on this scorching heat. Everyone were giving their best pose possible 😉
* In the square apart from the tower their are other important buildings, such as visiting the Cathedral or the Baptistery.
* Fun fact, did you know that the Leaning Tower is actually sinking? So, happy to visit this terminal tower. I hope w tge humanity will find some solution for this problem 🤗
I hope this helps!

The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in Pisa, Italy is a beautiful and ornate Romanesque cathedral with carved 1300s pulpit. It is often overrated, but its location near the leaning tower means that it can be avoided if you want to visit a stunning place without waiting in line. Beautiful! Not too crowded, really enjoyed our time here :) the cathedral was beautiful and well worth the price. We didn't buy the all-encompassing ticket, we just bought the ticket to the Museum (7€ each), and each ticket would come with a complimentary visit to the cathedral. We felt like that was money well spent. The Museum also had a small cafe we ate at and I got the best pancakes 😍 The ticket to climb the Tower was 20€, and my bf had twisted his ankle climbing the Campanile in Florence the other day, so we decided not to go up it.

Pisa Cathedral is one of the most impressive churches in Tuscany, Italy. A masterpiece of Pisan Romanesque architecture chiefly famous for its bell tower, the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
It says the Construction began in 1063 and was completed in 1092. However, The cathedral was heavily damaged by a fire in 1595. The heavy bronze doors of the façade were newly designed and completed in 1602.
The 27 paintings that cover the galleries behind the main altar, depict Stories of the Old Testament and Stories of the Life of Christ.
Yingchun Ye — Google review
The cathedral itself is quite impressive. I would say going inside is more impressive than the leaning tower. Entering the cathedral is free as well and it’s good to take advantage of that.
The Leaning Tower of Pisa is a tower that leans off of the vertical, due to weak subsoil. The tower was built in 1372 and has been tilting ever since. It is a popular tourist destination, and included in our 10-day Northern Italy tour led by local insider. The climb is hard, but the view from the top is simply superb.
Beautiful place, everything is close to the next attraction. Of course, a lot of people trying to take the typical picture, but you can manage to get good shots away from others. Nice coffee shops to have a snack or an amazing ice cream. Remember to buy tickets in advance, all attractions have different times and there are some restrictions in regards to age (do your research).

Better than I remember from 1983 and better than expected up the tower. A bit pricey at €20 but they have you over a barrel if you want to do it. Great staff and supervision. Great views on a good day and interesting seeing the bells at the top of the tower. Hard to believe it's nearly 1000 years old

Worth seeing but not what I expected which really was my fault.
First arriving and parking: the parking lots are located about 1.5 kilometers away from the square taking about 20 minutes walk. It was HOT when we were there. We should have considered more heat precautions.
Shops: so many shops peddling tourists goods of all shapes and sizes. Purses, shirts, pins, etcetera. Very few are worth while and had I known there was a proper gift shop I would have waited for it. It's located inside near the tower.
Site: make sure to walk around and take in the structures from all the given angles. Tickets for the climb to the top of tower are worth it. There is also a small fountain on the corner inside where you can get some refreshing water from a small phallic out cropping. Also worth seeing.

The famous tower. It's worth climbing to the top but you have to book ahead. The official website takes bookings up to 20 days before your visit. You take an allocated slot.
The climb is not too arduous and you can pause along the way.
You get some great views of the area, although Pisa is not as pretty as other towns.

We recently had the privilege of visiting the iconic Learning Tower of Pisa, and I must say, it exceeded every expectation I had. This architectural masterpiece truly lives up to its reputation as one of the world's most renowned landmarks.
The interior of the Learning Tower of Pisa is equally impressive. As I ascended the spiral staircase, the sense of history and wonder deepened with every step. The views from the top are nothing short of breathtaking. The panoramic vistas of the surrounding cityscape are amazing and offer a unique perspective on Pisa's rich heritage.
What truly stood out to us was the genuine warmth and friendliness of the staff. Their enthusiasm for sharing the tower's history and significance added an extra layer of enjoyment to my visit. It's evident that they take great pride in preserving this cultural treasure and in making every visitor's experience unforgettable.

I have to say... I was more impressed with the experience here than I was anticipating. We visited as part of a tour through a cruise and figured we would be here and gone quickly. The grounds were gorgeous and the tower was beautiful. It was a very busy day but people were polite and courteous to others trying to get their fun shots with the tower. Very cool experience!

Beautiful tower. We couldn't make it on top, there were no available time slots for it, so definitely recommending to buy tickets in advance online. But from outside it looks amazing as well. It's funny to observe people doing crazy poses while making pictures 😅👍🏼 but we all did it, right? 😅

Pisa itself as a city is very beautiful and gives a very good vibe. It is filled with young people as it is a student city. Piazza del Duomo is great to stay and to visit everything it has as it is included in one ticket that is worth the price (at the time i bought it for 10 euros not including leaning tower climb) and this ticked is valid for one year. Leaning tower is cherry on top. To be honest it is greater when you see it live than what photos show. To me this city has been out of expectations, very beautiful.

We visited as part of a cruise we were doing, and our cruise docked late so we ended up walking most of the way. It was well worth it though. We were able to meet up with our tour group and walk up to the top of the tower. Some of the steps up the tower have been worn down over the years so they can be a slippery, so be careful. The grounds that the tower sits on is well kept and there are various shops and restaurants in the area as well. We didn’t have any kids with us, but I would imagine small kids would have a hard time climbing all the stairs.

What an amazing site!!!!
First, I saw it very quickly when I was in the train. Then when I went out from the train and was heading to the site, I saw the top of the tower! What a feeling!! Just amazing!
It’s among the most impressive things I ever seen in my life!
All people go there to visit the tower but you should absolutely visit the whole site: the cathedral, the museum etc… because each one of them is a must see site.
I loved this place and would definitely come back during my next visit to Tuscany.

Very touristy but still very pretty. Worth a view if you're in Pisa. There are still plenty of places to get a photo and the other buildings are also very pretty. All round good visit. Didn't go inside but there's something about free entry to the cathedral, couldn't work it out.

It's a beautiful spot to see and take pictures. Located in the middle of the town, the route leads you through romantic and picturesque alleys and street. It's definitely worth a stop-over break if you pass nearby. I enjoyed seeing the tower and eating lovely food, but I wouldn't arrive here as my only holiday destination place. It's also amazingly crowded in the summer season. Heat was unbelievable 🔥, remember to take plenty of water 💧 Other places you could have seen before for free are at the charge in 2023- museum or Gardens

Fantastic historical monument!
The complex includes Tower, Piazza del Duomo and Cathedral di Pisa.
There was a parking close to complex with good price, although when leaving, there was issue with gate and not charged :)) There is a bazar in front and inside.
To go inside the tower, need to have a ticket for 20 euro which usually comes with 1-hour wait. Ticket for the rest of the facility, will come with 7 bucks more, all for 27. I would suggest get the ticket for whole, and once you see the Piazza and cathedral, it will be your turn to get into the leaning tower. I liked to small Halal restaurant in front of the area.
Overall, it will be a great experience to spend 2 – 3 hours over there.

What an amazing building to see when coming to Italy. It’s amazing how it’s leaning and hasn’t moved a lot during these past centuries. I really enjoyed being here and I would definitely recommend you to come. One thing to note is that when doing your famous leaning tower pose, there will be a lot of people walking in front of you. So just be weary of that

Arriving at the Leaning Tower of Pisa in the evening heightened the enchantment of this iconic landmark. The warm hues of the setting sun cast a golden glow on the marble facade, enhancing its timeless beauty. Despite the late hour, the surrounding Square of Miracles was still alive with a vibrant energy.
We explored the base of the tower, marveling at its architectural peculiarity and the intricate details of the nearby Cathedral and Baptistery. The diminishing daylight didn't obscure the elegance of Pisa's historic ensemble.
As twilight descended, the Leaning Tower illuminated, creating a captivating silhouette against the night sky. The subdued lighting added a touch of mystery to the surroundings. The square, adorned with medieval architecture, exuded a quiet charm, making our evening visit a magical experience that showcased Pisa's beauty even under the enchanting cloak of dusk.

Wow... this miracle of architectural is even more impressive when seen live. I recommend buying a combined ticket for all attractions in Piazza del Duomo, because each place is truly magical! The price is 27€ and it is best to book it in online. The tower is a magnificent building, it looks majestic from the outside, but inside it is empty, there are only stairs leading up. An amazing structure where from the first step on the tower I feel how tilted it is.

If you get the chance then you must go to an amazing building. It's quite mesmerizing as you look at it. It's not too busy but not too sure how busy it will be in the summer. We went over Easter break. One for the bucket list ticked off.

Picturesque place from Florescence and a must see tower that’s leaning with time. Please buy tickets in advance they are particular about having. Only a few folks go up to the tower. Bags aren’t allowed. They have a good locker room free of charge.

Absolutely amazing place. Love seeing the whole area in its historical beauty. The tower itself is smaller than I imagined but just fantastic. 294 steps to the top and you can walk around most of the upper level. The views make it well worth a visit. You can purchase a ticket for all buildings at 27 euros each or just the tower at 20 euros pp. There is a free locker room for you to put all bags into as you can't take any bags up the tower. There is a free car park about 10 mins walk away or a bus from same car park. The walk is lovely and not bad at all and all sign posted very well.

I recommend getting there early in the morning, it's really peaceful and there aren't many people around. Buying tickets in advance is also recommended, you will then have to leave your stuff at the wardrobe and then line up to enter. The entrance is divided in groups, your group will have a precise hour at which you will enter, so you have to come at least 15 minutes before. Green pass is needed to access the tower. The steps are a bit worn-out, so you should wear comfortable shoes. The view is amazing, you can really see all the city from up there, you might feel a bit of seasickness because of the inclination

Amazing climbing the steps of the leaning tower. When climbing the steps, you clearly feel a tilt. The climb is quite long. Please be careful when you go up the main stairs there is another smaller set. Which leads to the top. Many people don't notice the passage and it's worth it . The view from the top is simply breathtaking. An absolute must climb if anyone visits Pisa.

We stopped here on our way to Rome. And it's exactly that: a nice and quick stop on your way to another destination. We spent an hour here to walk around and take some pictures.
It's a beautiful and funny sight to see
There is a big amount of people, but still very doable to take pictures.

Exactly what you expect it to be from what all you've read or seen about it. Did not enter as we hadn't booked tickets in advance but still pretty good from the outside. We had visited in June and it was super hot though so make sure to have plenty of water and something to protect you from the Sun.

Beautiful leaning tower, if you want to climb I'd suggest booking ahead. As gets very busy. Was full on a weekday but still space to take photos and enjoy the beauty and the tower defying gravity.

One of those moments when you actually come across this and see it with your own eyes that you marvel at the beauty of this structure.
Very fortunate to book tickets to walk the stairs to the top, which is absolutely worth the time and money.
You can feel the lean as you walk up and then the view from the top is just amazing.

This totally met my expectations! A really fascinating and beautiful piece of architecture. I’d recommend buying tickets in advance to climb up although some tickets were available on the day I went (mid October and not high season). The majority of the steps are fine to climb although the very last section is a little worn and the tilting can make you feel a little ‘wobbly’
The views are great and is highly recommend it

The Leaning Tower looks really pristine from the outside and is well looked after. Approx 250 steps to the top and spectacular views. Not too crowded as they have bookings for 15 min slots - it’s well managed. We went in November but I can imagine it being super hot in the summer against the marble.

We visited the tower on a rainy day. The tower still stands tall. It is amazing. The place is crowded. It is a must see and worth all the effort traveling from Rome to see the tower.
The town is small, nothing much to see beside the tower itself. Highly recommend to buy the ticket in advance or come as early as possible. The line gets very long in the afternoon.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa is an iconic marvel that truly lives up to its reputation. The architecture is breathtaking, and the slight tilt adds a unique charm. The surrounding square is lively, providing a great atmosphere for visitors. It's a must-visit destination, offering history, beauty, and a bit of fun trying to capture that perfect perspective photo. Highly recommended!
Just to be aware, one of the site in square are tombs you will be walking on.

We have always wanted to visit here and it was even more incredible than we could have imagined!
The tower really is a building marvel and is so cool that you can climb up to the top by staircase and see from up there.
Buy tickets prior to not miss out and go early in the morning to avoid all the tour buses arriving around 9am.
We got there at 8am and it was quiet but by 10am when we left, the parking had a 30+ car queue to get in.
Great hour to explore on our roadtrip 🙌

This is a breathtaking place that I'd always wanted to visit and it did not disappoint. It was very disconcerting walking up the tower and falling over as it lent to one side of course. Even when you come out you're a bit disconcerted because you can't stand up straight! The cathedral and the baptistery were both wonderful as well. We had beautiful weather and to crown off a perfect day, the museum, full of statues and ancient relics, was a site to behold. There are wonderful cheap cafés nearby for excellent refreshments as well. My one piece of advice would be to buy a ticket for all the sites before getting there.

We’ve all seen this place on the TV, in the magazines and on the internet but to see it in real life is pretty special.
For those who want photos with nobody in the background, get there early. For those who just want to see it and take it all in, anytime of the day is great.
Very clean and leans a lot more than you imagine.

Iconic reason to visit Pisa and is totally worth the time. Climbing the tower is something you will never forget. Walking around the grounds and watching all the tourists pose for goofy pictures with the tower is actually kind of fun as well.
Plan to buy the combo ticket and spend the whole day. The church, crypts, and museum are all worth the time it takes to visit them.
Try to visit the baptistry on the hour or half hour mark when a security guard will amaze you with the acoustics by harmonizing with his echo. Truly magical display of sound.

Its quite the impressive structure. You can view it from the outside at any time but you will need a ticket if you want to climb the inside. The tickets are time gated and limited, so I would recommend purchasing them in advance if you want to go inside.
Evan Friscia — Google review
Yes, it's very tilted. Different when you see it on the spot. I don't recommend buying tickets in advance because there are specifics that will be explained on the spot much better and the flow of people is quite smooth. Now, april 2024, the ticket is 20€ tower, 7€ all else, 27€ combined (recommended). Have at least 2 hours spare time, 4 if you're slow. You need to leave your bag in storage so rather go without any kind of bags. You must also collect them immediately after. Normal rules apply for the other spaces - you must be covered to enter. You can get here easily from Bologna and Florence by bus. Have someone with you to make the "holding" picture. There is a toilet in the museum (southern building). Ticket office is one, you can't buy tickets on the line for the locations. What shocked me most is - the tower is empty. Well, that's about it... Don't forget to have fun.

The Devil's Bridge is a pedestrian-only bridge over the Serchio river, constructed in 1100 AD for medieval pilgrims. It is a steep structure that blends well with its rocky surroundings and is easily accessible without any special skills or clothing. The bridge has been well maintained over time and offers a pleasant resting spot for travelers passing through the area. On clear days, visitors can enjoy the reflection of the bridge in the calm waters of the river.
A very interesting bridge in terms of architecture, known as the "Devil's Bridge (Ponte del diavolo)". The place is a bit "in the middle of nowhere", but definitely worth a stop right on the road.

Excellent example of medieval construction, the bridge has four spans and gives a great view of the river. It is a relatively easy climb to the top, and if your visit is timed correctly you can see one of the local trains passing under the bridge. Great sport for a picturesque lunch. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area.

A nice spot to rest a little. We had passed the bridge several times, thinking we'd visit it for sure next time we passed it. And so when were headed for Venice coming from Molazana we took the opportunity. It's a steep bridge over a wide river (but easily walkable, no need for special training or atire ;) ). It is very well maintained and integrates nicely in its rocky environment. On the particular day we visited, the river was calm and the sky was blue so the bridge also nicely reflected on the water surface. Definntely worth stopping if ou drive by and the weather is nice.

THE BRIDGE OF MARY MAGDALENE ALSO KNOWN AS THE DEVIL'S BRIDGE
The bridge was probably erected by Countess Matilda of Canossa in the eleventh century to allow travellers and pilgrims to reach Lucca and the Francigena.
It was restored by the government of Castruccio Castracani in the late thirteenth and early fourteenth centuries. The name of the bridge comes from the hermitage that was built at its foot in 1526, which contained a statue of Mary Magdalene. The statue can currently be found in the Church of Saint James the Great (San Jacopo) in Borgo a Mozzano. A masterpiece of medieval engineering,
the Devil's Bridge overlooks the River Serchio and has always been the subject of fantasies, myths and legends. In the late 1800s, the bridge was modified to allow the passage of the Lucca-Aulla railway line, with the addition of a new are on the right bank. During the Second World War it was damaged by the Nazis, who were by then abandoning the fortifications of the Gothic Line,
but fortunately the bridge was not destroyed. Although nobody knows for sure why the Devil's Bridge was spared by the Germans, it was likely because they deemed it not suitable for the transportation of military equipment and therefore not worth destroying. The bridge has the classic medieval "hunchback" design, but what makes it different is that the arches
are asymmetrical and the central one is so high and wide that it seems to defy the laws of gravity.
THE LEGEND
The Legend: The sinister name of the "Devil's Bridge" is due to a legend of which there are several versions. The best known is the one that takes us back to its construction: it is said that the task of building the bridge was entrusted to Saint Giuliano 1' Ospitaliere. The work proved difficult from the outset. The foreman in charge of the work was in despair because he knew that the bridge could not be completed in time. One evening, as he sat alone on the river bank, thinking of the disgrace he would be in if the bridge was not finished, the Devil appeared to him and proposed a deal.
The Devil could make it so that the bridge was completed in a single night, but on one condition: that he could take for himself the first soul to cross the bridge. The pact was signed and in one night
the Devil lifted the entire bridge into place with his pitchfork. Filled with remorse, the man confessed the deal to a priest, who told him to respect the pact but to send a pig over the bridge first.
The next day the forman prevented people from

The funicular was a classic old model that, as one would expect, moved real slowly. The view of the valley and the sunset as you are going up is superb. The temp was a tad cold but I would still recommend standing on the outside the back of the funicular to get a picture without being obstructed by the glass in the window for a very fine photo.
As for the old town of Montecatini, nothing that great. Most of the restaurants are overly priced and the service is just average at the one pizza place we went to. Not worth the ticket of the funicular if you are just going for dinner at a restaurant.

This outdoor theater hosts an annual Andrea Bocelli concert, plus a statue that changes yearly.
I am writing this review after a visit on a spectacular afternoon in mid-May when the Tuscan hills are green. I have not seen a concert there (yet). It's easy to find and a wonderful place to simply relax and enjoy the beauty of Tuscany. It blows me away that other reviewers dismiss this site and say "there is nothing to see." Relax. Breathe. Meditate. Drink a glass of wine. Feel the natural beauty of this place. Maybe even put Bocelli's music in your ear buds. Then you will know what it means to experience this uniquely beautiful theatre.

I attended the Andrea Bocelli concert in July 2023. The venue is a fantastic place. All the equipments are also with high quality, from the musical equipment, screens and light effects to the refreshments and toilets. I attended the event with 5-star expectation, but got disappointed with many things I never imagined of!
1- The event organisation was really weak, the concert started literally 44 minutes later than planned. That means by the time Andrea sang his first song, it was already dark! If you are attending, expect long queues, and extra-long delays. It could have been much better.
2- Half of the songs are classic Operas. I doubt if the majority of the audience enjoyed it! I expected an event like the one in 2007, found in Youtube. It was not at all like that.
And the last but not least,
3- I encountered many queue-jumping acts right in front of me. I was speechless how a well-dressed lady or gentleman can do this!
Positive points:
1- Great tuscan scenery combined with a high quality music show. It's unique!
2- Andrea's voice is magical. Loren Allred, the young talent accompanying him, had a great performance.
3- The seats are comfortable and the scene can be seen well from each seat category.

Only niggle was a few empty enclosures and/or animals impossible to see. I know this is to be expected but it still disappoints. A bonus was that the gift shop was closed which saved me money! We did visit mid week in October.
Overall well worth a visit.

A not really big zoo in Pistoia, but a fun place for kids since they have lots of animals.

Nice zoo to visit and as an escape from the city. There are many animal species from large ones to smaller ones including various insects, and its quite well kept. Afaik there is no public transport to reach, though there is large parking if you arrive by car. I went on a hot summer day and it wasn’t crowded. There is also petting area with goats, sheep, pony etc… there is a restaurant / cafe and a gift shop inside but i didnt check the prices. Full tickets is 16€ and reservation is mandatory but its easy to do online and there is usually free slots.

A wonderful zoo! It is indeed not very big, but you can easily spend 3-4 hours here, like we did. There is a lot of shade, which is important on a hot summer day.
A nice playground for children.
We loved the variety of animals and how everything is arranged.
Make sure you have comfortable shoes, as the zoo is on the hill and you will need to walk up and down a lot. But it's doable even with small children and a stroller!

Expensive entrance fees, it was rainy day we couldn’t see many animals unfortunately :(
I would recommend to go to this one instead for same entrance fee Parco Natura Viva

We visited in the morning and although animals such as the bears, wolves etc were still in their bed, the kids (2&4) had a blast- as did we.
The park is not too large and has lots of opportunities to stop and play in the playgrounds or for a bite to eat.
The kids particularly enjoyed seeing the guinea pigs and their babies.

Am amazing zoo experience !!
Loved animals so wanted to go to this zoo whilst we were in Italy. The zoo was a perfect size, it wasn’t too large to walk around but not to small either. The animals had lovely enclosures with lots of greenery and space for the animals. The zoo didn’t feel run down, it was clean and had lots of nice natural shade on this particular sunny day ! There was an amazing range of animals and I even got to see my favourite, Capybaras, which cannot be found in UK zoos, so that was cool !! The giftshop was nice too where I bough a cute Guinea pig stuffed animal. I’d recommend seeing the Guinea pigs, they were adorable !

The park is in a desolate and terrible condition. The animals have hardly any space and whats worst: the health of the animals is alarming. The ostrich hardly has any feathers left, is bleeding and looks sick. A report has been made to the responsible veterinary authority - hopefully at least they will feel responsible for the animals well beeing if the zoo is not. It is awful and cruel.

Rocchetta Mattei is a restored 19th-century count's castle located in the Bolognese Mountains. Built by Count Cesare Mattei, it boasts a whimsical mix of Moorish, medieval, and Italian architectural styles. Visitors can explore the palace during weekend visits and enjoy concerts, exhibitions, and events. The tour provides interesting and thorough information about the history and architecture of the castle. However, some visitors feel that the guided tour is too short and strictly timed.
Beautiful architecture and a splendid collection of old musical instruments. All visits are guided, helping a lot in understanding the incredible and mysterious history of the place. Highly recommended.

Very interesting and beautiful castle. Easy to get to with free parking. The price is inclusive of a tour in Italien and an Audio Guide in English, German, French.
Recommend if you are interested in architecture and modern versions of oriental mixes. However, I feel like the audio guides could be expanded a bit, as the tour guide seemed to give much more information.

Located in the outskirts of the metropolitan city of Bologna in the little town of Riola. Amazing views and a truly magnificent structure ritch with history and interesting backstories about it's founder and tenet. A place not to miss if you happen to have some time on your hands and want to explore places around Bologna. Easily accessible by train or by car. If you happen to chose the train you can easily get one from Bologna Central station, you then need to get off at Riola station from which the Rocchetta is just a few minutes by foot up a hill (not too steep).

A beautiful, masmarising palazzo. The 4/5 are due to visits enabled only with a tourguide and tickets must be booked weeks prior. The info given on the tour was interesting and thorough, with that said, it was laconic and a bit too short (1 h) and very strictly timed in order to avoid laps with other groups.. therfore no time was given to immerse in the scenery of each spot, it was stop-losten-go to next stop sort of tour... the experience could have been more powerful and worthwhile with more time and a more interactive, mindful tourguide.

Visually stimulating place in a beautiful locale, with bizarre, fantastical architecture. Be warned though; Unless you want to walk up a long, narrow country road up hill in the sun, you are intirely at the mercy of a bus service that stops about 3 times a day and not at any time that aligners with the castle's admission hours. There is also nowhere to wait once you are up there. Again, the actual place is very interesting but, unless you have a car, you NEED to plan in advance or risk bring stranded in the middle of nowhere.

Found it while browsing places to visit in the area. We arrived there without reservation, but the lady at the ticket shop squeezed us into a tour with only 15min waiting time - thanks for that!
The castle itself is very picturesc, with sometimes unbelievable amounts of details to discover.
We enjoyed the stay a lot!

Stunning and unusual castle, 1h train ride from Bologna. The guided tour was in Italian, but the guide was very helpful and answered all the questions we had. It was my second visit and I'm looking forward to coming back in 2026 when the rest of the castle will be open for public.

The Palazzo Comunale, the Art Gallery's Camera del Podesta and Pinacoteca (Government Offices) are home to wonderful artworks from the 13th-17th centuries. The tower has a scenic view over the town and surrounding countryside.
Incredible place. The tallest tower (54m) in San Gimignano. There is a museum, too. It's worth to go on the top.

If you're gonna do just one thing in San Gimignano, climb the Torre Grossa. Definitely do it. Beats every single other experience we've had in Tuscany and Italy so far. The views from the top are just spectacular, a 360 degree view of the Tuscan countryside. I can't stress enough how beautiful it is. There are quite a few steps up - around 200, and there is no lift. So keep that in mind. It's worth getting the combined ticket if you're interested in medieval art, churches and frescoes, otherwise just go up the tower.
Come earlier during the day. We visited around 11 AM on a Saturday in May. There was no wait and not too many people - it didn't feel packed on the top.
Michal Šimurka — Google review
Is remarkable, beautiful and medieval. But expensive ticket. I did not pay to climb. There are better views from other parts of the city. Ice cream is superb :).
Pajo TP — Google review
It is the tallest tower in the town and can be visited at a cost of €9 or €13 with the "SAN GIMIGNANO PASS".
There are many steps to reach the platform with the bells but the reward is a magnificent 360° panorama.
Wealthy families showed off their wealth by building towers and compete in their height .
A limit was placed on this, they could not be higher than the Rognosa tower, that of the "podestà" who was a public magistrate with various tasks.
To expand the space available to him in 1300 he began the construction of this new palace with this even higher tower: 54 meters.
For this reason the Grossa tower is also called the new "Podestà" tower.

Amazing little medieval walled city. Really wonderful to walk around and visit the different shops and feel the history all around it.
Alex F. Lazo — Google review
Especially when it’s nice weather, I recommend to climb all the way up and admire the view from the top of the 50-meter-high tower. The stairs may take you some time (there are around 200 steps) but have been renovated so they are wide and more than safe
Daniele Rocchi — Google review
Well-worth the hike up 200+ stairs for these incredible 360 degree views of Tuscany. You need to climb a ladder to get to the very top of the tower and need to duck under the bell to experience the full views, which further limits accessibility, but there are some spots to take in views through windows along the way if the full climb isn't for you.
Claire — Google review
Possibly the best panoramic view in Tuscany! San Gimignano and Montepulciano are my favorites for scenic views. Worth the climb up the stairs and small ladder. Not crowded, even on a weekend, when nearby gelato shops have lines.
George F — Google review
When you visit San Gimignano the best place to see the amazing beauty of the town and surrounding countryside is to climb the Torre Grossa.
The views are well worth the climb, which is not too arduous.
Dan Woodruff — Google review
My wife and I paid 13EUR each to obtain a pass that included Torre Grossa entry. Despite being Sunday with crowds in the city, there was no line or waiting to gain entry to the tower. We ascended the 218 steps to the top of the tower and enjoyed spectacular views of both the city and surrounding area. The steps up are 'grated metal' and thus allow you to see all the way to the bottom of the stairwell if you look straight down - those with vertigo are advised to hang on to the railing and simply look straight ahead and you will be good-to-go. The stairwell ends with quite literally a steel ladder that you must climb approximately 10 feet before entering the top of the tower - so anyone not able to climb ladder rungs should probably avoid this adventure.

San Gimignano - a perfectly pretty and small hilltop Tuscany town with many medieval towers. Torre Grossa is the tallest and only one that you can climb - and you must climb to view awesome Tuscany landscapes.

Piazza della Cisterna is a triangular plaza located in the heart of San Gimignano, Italy. The square is named for its 13th-century cistern, which still stands today. The plaza is surrounded by stately medieval buildings and attracts tourists due to its beauty and history.
Beautiful medieval square, when entering it you feel like you’ve traveled back in time. It had a well, Ice cream shops, souvenir shops etc. In the afternoon it can get busy, but in the morning or evening it’s less busy and also more beautiful.

Main entrance to the town. Parking is at a premium with a number parking areas scattered outside town. This should be your warning you are stepping into a tourist honey trap.
Yes, it is full of beautiful buildings, but it is also packed with tourists and all the shops to support them.
I visited in Autumn and it was still heaving in the late afternoon. Try and visit out of season to see it's true beauty. Or visit one of the less well known towns.

Once we step inside the city walls in San Gimignano, we feel like we have stepped into another time, a few centuries back. It’s not just buildings that touch the clouds that are the only thing worth seeing in San Gimignano. Although the towers are what sets the city apart from others, many small charming Tuscan places. There are also countless beautiful churches, valuable works of art, palaces, beautiful narrow streets and squares. One of them is Piazza della Cisterna (Cistern Square). In earlier times, the Piazza della Cisterna was the centre of all public performances, tournaments and festivals that were held in the city. It was also the main marketplace of the people. Its design is from the 13th century and it is named after the Cisterna (Water Cistern) that is still present amid the piazza today. Connected to the town’s largest square, Piazza del Duomo through an open passage, this piazza is entirely paved with brick and is surrounded on all sides by houses and towers from the Medieval Era. The beauty and charm of this square is created by the beautiful atmosphere and scenery with l’arco dei Becci (Arc of Becci), which is the gate of the ancient city of San Gimignano. The Torri dei Becci (Tower of Becci) is on the left and the Torri dei Cugnanesi (Tower of Cugnanesi) is on the right side of this arc. Among these is the Palazzo Razzi, characterized by its mullion windows. The adjacent Casa Salvestrini is a former hospital that was converted into a hotel. Dine at the hotel’s café patio or upper floor restaurant, which affords views across Tuscany’s majestic countryside. Overlooking the north side of the square we can see Devil's Tower. Legend states that, after a trip, the tower’s proprietor noticed that its height had increased. He accredited the occurrence to a diabolical intervention and the tower subsequently took on its name. The square, along with Piazza Duomo, is a venue for various fairs which are held as part of festivals in honor of saints, including St. Fina, the city’s patron saint.

A wide mix of retail stores & eateries in a bustling shopping complex with whimsical accents.
While staying Florence we rented a car and drove around the countryside, then we got a little extra time so decided to drop by on the way back. The place is gigantic and you will find everything you will need, if especially shopping is part of your travel itinerary it's worth visiting. Everything is SO MUCH cheaper than city center (especially shoes and clothes).

We went to the mall to shop during the sales. The sales promotions were worthwhile with high discount rates.
It was only unfortunate that in some stores the clothes were not always neatly laid out/ on the floor.
In terms of shopping opportunities, there are numerous stores from shoes to clothes and even domotica.
After a day of shopping you can enjoy a quick bite at a fast food chain like KFC/MCD or at a restaurant!
Definitely worth a visit on a hot day because there is air conditioning inside.

Antinori nel Chianti Classico is an architecturally innovative winery located in the Tuscan hills. It blends seamlessly into its surroundings and offers cellar tours and tastings for visitors. The winery has been rated as one of the world's most beautiful, and it produces excellent but expensive wines. In addition to tastings, guests can also enjoy wine at the on-site restaurant.

This is a very fancy winery. It has been rated as one of the nicest in the world for how it looks. It is super modern and they produce good wines, and they are expensive. I did not do a tasting but explored the grounds before lunch and it was nice. The tastings run around 160€ so if you wanna do that be prepared. If you don’t wanna do that you can go to their restaurant and order some of their wines. Went in March and the vines were not in full bloom.
I would return.

If you are looking for a winery close to florence or highway to take pictures with vineyards with a cool background and new age architecture, this is your spot.
There is a restaurant on top floor that the people are super nice. You have to book a reservation beforehand. It is a different name then this Google spot, can see from maps, and book the reservation through there. Don’t try to use website for this place as hard to get info.
I do recommend coming to see place, have to take a shuttle in also and park around. It is a professional place, just realize before you come that it isn’t a small family owned winery.

We booked wine testing (the short tour with 3 wines) for a couple, like a month before we arrived. we wanted our friends (another couple with a baby) to join us but there were no more available places on the website for the time we booked. so I booked our friends a tasting on another day. I have send them an email and asked if it was possible we do it together and luckily they changed the reservation so that we can make it.
My point is - you should try to talk to them in advance.
The place is beautiful, wonderful architecture and the wines were good.
I liked the most the Chianti Classico they offered.
You can also buy a testing in the wine shop.

The wine was good but the tour was not worth it. It was a 2 hour tour + tasting but the tour lasted the full two hours and droned on for a very long time. The tasting then felt very rushed at the end past the time limit. Our guide was also somewhat rude. The building is beautiful but I would recommend just doing a tasting here.

Amazing place architecturaly. Well done for vision and courage.
Poor for ease of access. It was a very wet day and we were not allowed to drop our passengers up at the entrance. We were directed to a distant car park and told a shuttle bus would collect us. There was only one small shuttle bus which could take 8 passengers. There were a lot of people waiting.
We had to set off walking in the rain which took us 20 minutes. When we got to the restaurant (very wet) we were told we were 20 minutes late! There was no help for the physically challenged. Food and wine was very good but pricey. We trudged back to the car park after lunch and the shuttle bus passed us on the way down with only 2 people in it and didn't stop to take some of us. One of our group had a problem knee and found it very difficult.
It is certainly an amazing place but they need to be more customer caring. Allow the driver to drop off their passengers. This would put less pressure on the shuttle bus and, also, please do something to enable access for wheelchair users and those who find walking difficult.

Tiania tour (the smallest one) was nice, but it felt a bit rushed. We've been to winery tours where the guide is way more passionate and excited about wine making. This felt a bit robotic. Given this is a very large and famous winery, I can see why. Overall, we were very impressed with the facilities.
The wine tasting was pretty standard. If you wanted additional tastings to the tour, you could pay for different sized pours.
It's a beautiful spot to visit, but you absolutely need to book months in advance. I'd go again to try their more expensive tours, but I wouldn't expect the family run vibe.

Antinori nel Chianti Classico offers a serene escape amidst the stunning landscapes of Tuscany, blending sustainable design with fine wines for a memorable experience. The tour, priced at 100€ per person, leads guests through meticulously designed spaces that meet high expectations. However, while the ambiance is enchanting, the tour experience lacks depth in information delivery, leaving some visitors wanting more engagement. Additionally, though the staff means well, service in the restaurant area can be slow, with prices slightly outweighing the perceived quality. Despite these hiccups, Antinori nel Chianti Classico remains a captivating retreat for wine lovers and design enthusiasts alike.

We visited Antinori nel Chianti Classico in August 2023, it was one of the best experiences of our trip, is like stepping into a Tuscan dream. The wines were incredible, rich, flavorful, and utterly delicious. The winery itself is a masterpiece of architecture, seamlessly blending modern design with the traditional Tuscan landscape. The staff was so kind and attentive, ready to share their passion and knowledge with a smile. A visit here isn’t just about wine; it’s an experience you’ll remember forever.

We visited the winery in July of 2023, and had the best time. I would highly recommend booking far pin advance as its very hard to get a spot for a tour and tasting. We booked in the spring (approximately April) for a full experience tour and tasting + lunch.
The architecture is truly amazing, and almost transports you to another world. You arrive underneath the famous staircase, and then make your way up to the main lobby where you meet your guide and begin your tour. The full tour is about 1.5 - 2 hours where you get to see the different areas of the winery. The place is meticulously clean and well maintained, and the guides are knowledgeable and kind. After the tour, we were able to experience a small group tasting in one of their beautiful tasting rooms. We then made our way to the roof to have lunch (+ more wine) and their garden terrace restaurant. The food was delicious, and they were very generous with the wine at lunch!
I would highly recommend booking the first time slot of the day - we arrived at 10 am and toured with a group of approximately 10 people which allowed us to do our tasting in the beautiful small room overlooking the wine barrels. Other groups later in the day seemed to have double the amount of people included, so the wine tasting happened as more of a standing cocktail table affair, which wouldn’t have provided the same experience.

One of the best winery in the world. It’s quite impressive. Modern architecture design that allow natural lights through. The staircase is beautiful, elegant and grand. Outside there are variety of grape plants around the winery.
You need to book both the wine tour and restaurant months in advance.

While the breathtaking architecture will help enjoy the shop and wine tasting experience, the over the top building has to be paid for by something, and that is with overpriced wine. 18€ tasting for 1oz of 4 different bottles and tours from 45€ to 185€. Obviously the 45€ tour is never available, so you are pushed into the expensive experience.
The service by the gate guard and tasting staff were terrific, but the reception desk is an area to skip.
