It's not quite summer, but -18°c in deep winter! There is a lot to see on Pärnu beach, the bay is frozen, people are walking and enjoying the sunset!
Mairis Krūmiņš — Google review
Very windy and uncomfortable place, I did not enjoy the see
Ilya Skoryak — Google review
Long, clean beach. Was completely empty in September.
The water is very shallow: after 20m, my ankle was not completely under water. Probably a good thing if you want a photo of you walking on the water.
Laurent Le Brun — Google review
It’s undoubtedly one of my top three beaches in Estonia. It’s crowded, really crowded during the peak season but it’s so because a reason. It’s freshly renovated and upgraded with small bars and cozy sitting areas. Water is warm and it gets deep reasonably fast. Writing that review makes me missing the summer
Keio Usai — Google review
Shallow calm clean sandy beach. Perfect for children. Not so many restaurant or lounger options on the beach therefore bringing own mat and supplies might be a good idea.
adhisma das — Google review
I don't know how to swim, so I usually like shallow beaches.. Parnu, like most of the Baltic beaches, is shallow, and walking along the beach felt so good. It was a bit cloudy when we visited, but there were many families visiting, enjoying the last days of Summer. Whole area was well kept and the beach looked very clean. There could be more semi shower stalls to wash -off
Hema K — Google review
The beach is clean and nice, there are toilets and changing cabins. But the sea is very shallow, you have to walk very far to swim - good for children, but bad for adults
Alexandra Grishechko — Google review
An amazing place to visit also during the winter. The frozen Baltic Sea is breathtaking, and the area is full of amazing wildlife!

Nice but they have an official warning not to swim. In whole Europe super hot, also in neighborhood countries but in Pärnu very windy and cloudy, we hat to wear warm clothes.
Liga K — Google review
A beautiful beach with breathtaking views of sunset.
Beach is clean and with every basic facility available. Sand is white, water is crystal clear.
Nice clothes changing boxes are available with a lot of sitting places available around them.
Overall a must visit beach to explore in Estonia.

Impressive place, especially when you know it was built almost a century ago. Still looks great and modern.

Designer Building furnished with Aalto's typical style chairs, desks and shelves. The ceiling design is arguably one of the most interesting element, allows plenty of diffused natural light in the ambient. Worth a quick stop to visit.

(Translated by Google) A landmark building/work both for the city of Vyborg and for the architect Alvar Aalto. A new milestone in his work. This building began Aalto's transition to modernism and the use of soft forms, like the wavy ceiling in the hall. The building was founded in 1927 with money from the widow of the Vyborg philanthropist Maria Lallukka. The library was opened in 1935. The architect took into account the interests of all participants in the “library process” in the building, from the curators of the collection to the readers. As a border town with a difficult fate, Vyborg has experienced a lot, as, of course, has the library. Several wars, a change in the book stock, destruction, restoration. This is a very impressive building, despite its somewhat squat, austere appearance, it is absolutely airy, light and graceful inside. Amazing skylights with natural light, light wood, functionality and comfort make it ideal for reading.

(Translated by Google) The library is the only Aalto building in Russia, and it was very well restored, not renovated.
I highly recommend going on an excursion, because... in an hour you can look at all the places in a small group and find out why Aalto built it this way and used exactly such solutions.
There are usually few places on the excursion (lucky that there was one and one place was found), so it’s better to book in advance
(Original)

(Translated by Google) When we were going to Vyborg, this library appeared as one of the main attractions. From the photos I really liked the place, it was so modern. But they didn’t read that you can’t just walk around the halls. When we got there, we were told that we needed to get a library card, which we did. But all the same, it was possible to go through it only to one hall; others were not allowed, as well as to the second floor.
The library is beautiful, no doubt, but I would like to see more. So, as they wrote here earlier, it is better to buy a ticket for the excursion.

The library opened in 1935 and immediately became known throughout the world as a model library building.
This building is one of the iconic examples of modern architecture. Alvaro Aalto's architectural philosophy was a combination of functionalism and natural lines. Natural materials and a lot of wood are used in the interior spaces; the rooms for readers and visitors have a lot of light and huge windows.

Revered art gallery in the restored Narva Castle & fortress, all set in parklike surroundings.
The museum costs 4 euros make sure to visit this place if you are in Narva! The museum has a tower where you will get an amazing view between Estonia and Russian castle, there is an elevator however it only reaches the 3rd floor from a total of 7.
They will also give you a coin that you are able to exchange for a souvenir, which is a really nice perk.
Rodolfo Andr?s Ramirez Valenzuela — Google review
Museum with a very informative tour of the history of Narva.
At the entrance we were given phones that told us more info after scanning at a given exposures which was really helpful (texts in Estonian, English, Russian, Finish and Latvian).
The architecture and the design of exposition was very interesting and interactive, however, the navigation in the museum was a little bit confusing and we got lost few times ( and I guess we did not see it all 😅)
The overall tour was great and you can also see beautiful views from there, worth to visit!

Beautifully restored Castle with central heating! A bit hot on the day I visited in August but must be lovely in winter. Unfortunately the audio guide only relates to the temporary exhibition and not on the castle itself. All permanent displays were in Estonian or Russian only.
Nigel McKinley — Google review
Interesting experience seeing the border and the castle is beautiful. I would say, if you don't speak Russian or Estonian then you may want to get an audio guide in your language as most of the signs are in these 2 languages.

Narva Castle has seen massive investments, which resulted in opening new areas, addition of new interactive expositions (also suitable for children).
The museum is fairly big and requires a lot of climbing (30 or 50m).
Certainly a place to see if you want to learn about importance of the town.
Aleksander - excellent English speaking guide.

Turns out it's quite a big museum, lots of historic items, memories, facts, photos, weapons. Good enough for a couple of hours. WC. Very helpful and friendly staff at the reception)

I was born in Narva, but I left Estonia when I was around 18 years old. So, it's been around 12 years since I saw Hermann (=Narva) Castle (the white tower)! It is the most beautiful place in Narva in my opinion. It stands on Narva River which divides Estonia and Russia. When I was a child, I remember that the Castle had extensive collection of artefacts and items from various periods of time to showcase the history of Narva and the castle itself. I also remember that it was quite hard to climb upstairs for me! However, when I visited castle now, I was pleasantly surprised to see that they got elevator! The exhibitions are now skillfully curated to show different moments of Narva's history. It was great to see physical objects, 3D animations of the life in the medieval Hermann castle, 2D story of how life has changed over many centuries, and old movies of Narva. I loved the views from the top of the Castle!
Apart from that, you can explore the yard of the Narva Castle, see various crafts displayed (you can buy them also), and gift shop. There are usually various craftspeople from Estonia and around the world in the summer time, but I missed them because there was preparation for a concert in the yard. I grabbed some traditional drink, kali (or kvass), which was poured in lovely mug. I had to drink it fast because I noticed swallows flying around, and I managed to photograph their chicks on the Castle's wall!
The area around the castle is lovely for a walk. You can pass it and see "clock" scupture, for example. There's lots of swallows and seagulls flying around. If you fancy to explore seaside city called Narva-Joesuu, you can go to the port near the Castle and catch Caroline.
Overall, if you have just a day in Narva, you definitely should visit this place. The history of Narva is really remarkable.

Unfortunately, the museum was closed that day, but the best view of the two borders and the two sides (Estonia and Russia) is there. Amazing place!

The museum building itself is interesting. Audio tour equipment works very well. The navigation is a little confusing. Decent panorama view from the top of the tower. The exhibitions are quite small, but well made and modern.

Large and very nice castle, but don’t expect to much. Everything is super modern inside, including elevators and video projection. Very few artefacts can be found here as the castle was completelly destroyed and build up recently. Gardens are currently under reconstruction.
Jozef Jonas — Google review
A very beautiful old castle with a long history and beautiful views to the Russian border and Narva river. Tickets were a bit too expensive in my opinion though, 15€ for one person.
Sonja Porkka — Google review
Very large castle, beautiful views from the top. You can wonder around for several hours. There are some modern exhibits plus also quite a lot of history is explained. They give an audio guide as well. Be prepared for bunch of stairs. There was a cafe and a souvenir shop. I quite recommend visiting the castle.

Very informative stands that tell not only about the history of the fortress, but also about why this particular reconstruction option was chosen, how complex all modern communications are in a medieval building, and much more.
Interesting shopping center, worth visiting if you're in Narva.
The layout is quite odd as it's not possible to go through entire center without backtracking.
There is a good variety of shops and restaurants.
The place has a military theme and it's quite interesting to explore all the items they have on display.
DMINATOR — Google review
Fama is quite small centre so I wouldn't say that it's great for shopping, but there is a good selection of everything that you may look for. Some clothing brands, some electronic shops, furniture, jewelry, restaurants etc. Interior looks modern and clean. Good for groceries.

Great place to shop, pretty much for everything. Great staff and atmosphere.
Richard Lukos — Google review
Amazing place with plenty of different shops
Pauls Letskis — Google review
Seems to cover all the necessities. Although most activity is on the ground floor there are two level above. Shops include bank, electronics shop, mobile service provider, small department store, furniture shop, supermarket, fast food of various types including KFC, the upper levels are more of services geared towards locals. In the parking area there's a self serve wand car wash.
Ilpo Lehto — Google review
It's my favourite shopping centre in Narva. Although the other one is bigger and posher, Fama in general has cheaper prices and its toilets have easier and more convenient access.

its a normal mall, you can hang out and find random stuff and treats.
Glorious place, the castle park on sunset, ancient oak trees and views over the rivervalley. By surprise suddenly at the Päts statue palace garden music started playing from radio, 1930ties and we danced.

Toila-Oru Park is a true gem of Estonia's natural landscape, offering visitors a stunning array of flora and fauna, as well as a rich history and cultural significance. The park's extensive gardens feature a wide variety of trees, flowers, and other plant life that change with the seasons, making it a beautiful and dynamic destination year-round.
In addition to its natural beauty, Toila-Oru Park boasts a rich cultural history, having been a popular destination for Estonia's elite for centuries. The park's historic buildings and monuments, including the Toila Sanatorium and the Oru Palace, offer visitors a glimpse into the region's past and its importance to Estonia's cultural heritage.
But perhaps most impressive of all is the park's commitment to sustainability and conservation. The park's management team has gone to great lengths to ensure that the natural beauty and biodiversity of the park are preserved for generations to come, making it a shining example of ecological responsibility.
Overall, Toila-Oru Park is an extraordinary destination that offers visitors a chance to connect with nature, history, and culture in a truly unique way. Whether you're a nature lover, a history buff, or simply looking for a beautiful and peaceful place to relax, Toila-Oru Park is a must-see destination in Estonia.

Absolutely lovely park to go and have a walk, a picnic or see a concert. We had never been and were so surprised at how absolutely beautiful this park is and how much elevation there is. The river and spring were so cool to. Completely gobsmacked at this find and we will definitely return.
Sidenote: You can also collect linden blossoms here end of June to mid July. Dried linden blossoms are prized in Estonia for their lovely tea, some also make syrups, essential oil, it's used in medicine as well. They are said to have many many health benefits. The park was full of them. Just be sure to be mindful and not break anything.
There are also many different nooks and crannies in the park to get lost in nature. Really, so lovely.

really nice and cosy park with great atmosphere.
worth a long walk or two, but take water/tea/coffee with you, as there is no place to buy it, except one little café at the enter to the park.
café is charming btw with nice couple who runs it (I suppose)

Beautiful park, has a lot of history. Pity that its former beauty was destroyed, apparently it was a jewel of the North before and people from St Petersburg were coming here for summer. The area next to sea is nice and you can wonder around for an hour or so.

Cluster of churches around a 19th-century convent, housing an ancient icon of the Mother of God.
Absolutely fantastic! This monastery is well looked after and has the most beautiful architecture! I would advise anyone to visit it, great experience!!!

A must-see place in Eastern Estonia, even if you are a nonbeliever. Beautiful and well-maintained monastery yard, definitely worth to take a 30-45 min walk. Watch out for signs and avoid getting too close to wooden houses where nuns live. Parking lot near the main entry seems to be only for guests who agreed their visit in advance, so best to park your car a bit further.
Marina Nekrassova — Google review
Biblical Public loo is dangerously overpowering and rank. It took two days to get the smell out of my clothes and nostrils. In severe need of complete modernisation before the devil itself emerges from the appalling hole in the ground. No joke.
Western expectations of the healing waters probably include pure, sparkling, mineral water mystically lit with blue, white and UV LEDs; perhaps a faint whiff of sulphur, reassuring us of the volcanic depths from which this pure, natural water has emerged, accessed through beautifully white tiled and stainless steel changing rooms, gently ushered by glowing, hovering nuns, also in white....
Reality. Stagnant 'stream' with no flow. Large, dark, garden shed covers concrete ramp to small pool in muddy hole. Throughput is human, not water. 5,000 dunked bodies in one small pool gave us mild ear infections and healed, well, nothing.
Like the public loos, this facility would benefit from considerable investment.
The monastery, churches, and liturgies, however, are stunning.

The story of this spiritual sites dates back to the 16th century but the Orthodox cathedral was built much more recently at the beginning of the 20th century. There are 6 other churches inside the wall dedicated to their own saint. You can have a stroll in the park and get in the cathedral but you must be quiet at all times, there are over 100 nuns on the site. You can buy their honey (it s delicious) and help preserve the site.

The Maritime Centre Vellamo is an impressive museum located in a tanker-sized, wave-shaped building that showcases Finland's rich seafaring history. The state-of-the-art exhibits cover various aspects of maritime life such as navigation, fishing, and logging. One of the main attractions is the Tarmo ice-breaker, which dates back to 1908 and played a significant role in Finnish waters until its retirement in 1970.
Nice place to visit. Seaseigh is beautiful. Good for pictures, a very Instagramer place.

The Vellamo Maritime Centre is a commendable destination for those keen on delving into maritime history. The exhibition is informatively structured, with the ship Tarmo being a particular highlight, especially for children as visitors are afforded the opportunity to explore it firsthand.

A very comprehensive series of displays. Boats, a couple of Aircraft used by the coastguards both prewar and postwar. Archeology, Forestry, Paper industry, Interesting displays for children to get involved with. Excellent description of the Sweden v Russia naval battles in the 18c artefacts. Finland's Maritime history.
And computer generated video. Excellent restaurant. One of the best museums I've ever seen.

Great experience.
We walked through the part of the main exhibition only (we had time constraints) but definitely we will come back to see the rest.
Objects are interesting in itself, but descriptions, grouping, subjects told us much more.
Some of them are really moving, like lifebuoy from Estonia ferry, some beautiful, like models, some funny.
Great time travel!

Initially positioning itself as a ship museum, it is now a very atmospheric place with many different exhibitions from the "underwater world" to the "Tragedy of Pompeii", which will suit both the tourist as an expansion of horizons and students too. interactive maps, 360 dioramas, lighting and directional sound create the impression of complete immersion in history...

It's alright, the icebreaker Tarmo was pretty interesting (especially with the tour) but the rest of the exhibition didn't have too much to offer other than some old boats on display. Worth visiting if you're in Kotka or are driving by though, especially if you're interested in ships, maritime history etc.
Lukas Toropainen — Google review
We had a wonderful time in the museum, including 2 kids (2 and 5 years).
It is very big, meaning we didn't have the time to see all the exhibition pieces, especially the extra exhibition the museum had to offer.
The extra cost for the two ships on the outside was absolutely worth it. (Especially the ice-breaker was impressive)
Also the restaurant had good food, even for vegetarians, and the price is good.

By far one of the best parks, I have visited in all of Finland. Why though? The first reason is the awesome location of the park. Very easily assessable by both, public transport and cars. The park is situated at the tip of the island and the city of Kotka.
The second reason is the very beautiful waterfall and the lake where it leads. By far the best waterfall that I have seen in Southern Finland. And the third reason is the beautiful vegetation of the park. There is all from beautiful peonies to cool-looking and well in blending trees.

A beautiful park and garden with water elements, bridges, breathtaking flowers and various trees with a Japanese touch. Even a small waterfall. Worth visiting especially in the summer.
Also possible to visit by boat or car. A 15 min walk from the Kotka bus station.

Well maintained place with beautiful and exotic plants and flowers. I recommend visiting while they bloom. There's big and funny looking fish swimming in the lake, it's find to spot them. There's also small animal statues around the park, the kids will like them.

Established back in 1997, AHHAA Science Centre is the largest science museum in the country. It offers a variety of interactive exhibits and a planetarium that cater to visitors of all ages. This place is perfect for kids starting from as young as four or five years old and adults can also have fun exploring its offerings. The museum's holiday season was especially impressive and left visitors very satisfied with their experience.
This is the place for all ages-kids were super excited and didn't want to leave. Will definitely come here again after some time.

Very interactive museum. There are lots of interesting entertainments for both children and adult - various science inventions with descriptions and practical use, exibitions, also sport activities (basketball, running, football). Good that tickets are for all day and you can easily go in and out to/from museum.

Great museum experience. we visited many science museums in different countries and I can definitely say that this is one of the best. excellent zoning, a lot of topics and everyone can find something interesting individually. Plus a lot of cool visual objects where you can take good photos. To visit the city with children - the number one place. Particularly pleased with the huge space that presents new exhibitions every year and motivates repeated visits every season. Thanks to the leadership.

Perfect place for those starting from age of 5 years (may be 4 as well). Also grown ups can find some fun. Kids are entertaining themselves all day long and they are not willing to leave this place Definately will visit this place in near future again! Proud that our neighbours have such attractive place.

During our first visit to Tartu Ahhaa science center was 1st in the too to must go places and we did it. It is very interesting and full of activities. Kids just love it but there are interesting things for parents as well. Price for 2 parents and 1 kid was 54 together with planetarium ticket, and it’s full day multi enter ticket. Cant tell that planetarium was great, but from content perspective it was definitely great and interesting. We learned new things. There is a restaurant as well, so you can enjoy whole day there. I think we’ll definitely come back there again when we’ll be back in Tartu.

A great museum that everyone can enjoy. We are a science teacher and a physics graduate, yet we still learnt things! It is open late, so it can be left until later on a one-day trip to Tartu or a great place to go in the rain - there's an inside exhibition about sport with lots of practical exercise equipment to burn off a little (or large) one's steam.
The Museum shows science very practically and displays some of the more complex ideas at play.
We couldn't visit the planetarium as we arrived later in the day for shows in English. We would suggest checking in advance if you have specific language needs

Not much of a fan of kids' illusions, like the moving bridge or the gravity rooms, butnI certainly was a fan of the second floor! Bombastic planetarium, amazing room of humans' anatomy, involving a couple of examples of organs/babies in jars and, my favorite, teddy bear with teeth 🤭 Recommend visiting either with kids or with friends

The statue sits directly in front of city hall, and in winter time is surrounded by an ice skating rink.

Truely a beautiful place. A must visit spot in Tartu
One of the most beautiful and magnifecent town halls not only in the Baltic States but also in the whole world (seriously). Built in a Neoclassical and baroque style, it is well-preserved over time. It is impossible to miss it out during your stay in Tartu and I would say it is worth visiting the town hall during the ooen days. Also it perfectly correlates with the town hall square, and together they make amazing appearence of a medieval town. It's the reason why Tartu is so perfect.

Porvoo Cathedral, located in the enchanting Porvoo Old Town, is a small 13th-century cathedral that was originally constructed with wood and later fortified with stone walls. The cathedral, an Evangelical Lutheran church built in the 15th century with some parts dating back to the 13th century, stands as one of Finland's oldest churches. It serves as the seat of the Swedish-speaking Diocese of Borga and offers a picturesque view from the nearby hill.
Entry was not allowed inside… Quaint idyllic place to sit. There is a restaurant SALT bang opposite for some great food!
Debapratim Dey — Google review
It's closed when we arrived so we didn't get to see the inside. From the exterior, it's alright. Nothing spectacular. But the view of the town from here was nice. As we understand, this is one of the highest points in Porvoo. Surrounding the cathedral is rich with history, with plenty of beautiful buildings dated back centuries. Perhaps we'll get a better feel when we visit again during summertime.
Its A Wonderful Life — Google review
As a tourist, I have such mixed feelings from this place. There is a playground for children to play inside of the cathedral, which is very nice. At the same time, there is a big "Silence!" sign right at the entrance of the church, and also at some other places, making the church looking very cold for people entering the building.
In any case, this is the monument of the town. Not the nicest building, architecturally speaking. But it stands out on the hill and you can't miss it almost on any of your pictures.

Finnish fortress Suomenlinna, located on six islands in the Gulf of Finland, is a popular tourist attraction. The site was originally built by Sweden in the mid-18th century as Sveaborg and later became part of Finland. Today, there are museums, parks, cafes and restaurants as well as Finland's only remaining WWII submarine on the site. Ferries depart from Helsinkis Kauppatori throughout the year.
one of the best tourist attraction near Helsinki. it was a castle built to protect capital from foreign forces. very accessible via ferry from Helsinki port. make sure to keep extra clothes when taking ferry as it could be very windy, specially in winter. also get yourself 4-5 hours to explore it fully.
Tausif Baber — Google review
This was probably the coolest thing we did in Helsinki. You take a ferry to the island. There are a lot of trails, we mostly stayed on the blue line with only a couple deviations. The River that cuts through the middle was awesome. Near the end you can walk up a hill toward some cannons. Don’t miss this!! There are little mounds that look like a hobbit city!! It’s a really cool landscape you can explore. You get great views of Helsinki from the cannon area too! We went into an art shop on the way back and they had some REALLY cool stuff that the locals that LIVE on the island make. Very talented people!! Loved this excursion!!

This was a really cool experience for me, went with a friend during the week and the best part the transportation was included in my 5 day city transport pass. One of the coolest things on the island to see are the cannons, the shipyard and the surrounding views. It's just a really nice place for a chill walk.
Stefan Tudor — Google review
Super cool island that is easily accessible via ferry or seabus. Beautiful walk along the ramparts and interesting to see all of the huge cannons up close. A few cafes on one side where one can have lunch, just be wary that they will often only be serving lunch from 12-14:00.
Nishaan Dulay — Google review
Very nice island to visit. It’s free of charge (except you want to go inside the museums),
You can reach it by the ferry from Market Square. The ferry is a part of the transport system, so the standard fare applies (3.10€ per person). You can buy the ticket at the machine next to the harbour.
Try to go there on a sunny day. I bet it’s much nicer than the rainy weather we had.

Place to enjoy at least one whole day. Several ferries to Helsinki city also after midnight. Several museums on the islands (maybe, the more interesting is the military one), but generally, nice to stroll around the fortress.

If you have to visit one thing whilst in Helsinki then this should be at the top of your list. A mere 20 mins ferry ride from the Helsinki harbour front you will find Suomenlinna. Tickets for the ferry can be purchased at the pier. It is a preserved site, township and fortress. Absolutely stunning things to see all over the island with information scattered across each famous landmark so it is easy to self tour the place yourself. Several museums available to visit too. Most of the houses are private residential areas so it is important to respect their privacy. Spent a good 2.5 hours there just roaming around and taking in all the sights and surroundings. Cafes, restaurants and souvenirs are also available. Must see so don't miss this place.

Nice fortified island in front of the old Helsinki port. It's just 15 minutes ferry ride to it from Kauppatori quay. Take your time to walk around the island after visiting the fort museum. Be mindful though of the residential areas in which people live, indicated by a small blue sign with a house in it.

We visited in autumn, and this island makes for a good half to one day trip from Helsinki. There are many different museums here (you need to pay per entrance if you don't have the Helsinki card), but our personal favourite was the World War 2 submarine and war museums.
There are also historical buildings you can visit, and you can also get scenic views of the sea here. Everything is within Walkable distance, takes about an hour to two to walk non-stop from one end to the other end.
There are also different restaurants here for food if you want to try it out, but nothing caught our eye. We did try an ice cream stall that sold 1 cone for 4.50 euros. As this is a tourist spot, expect things here to be pricey if you're spending money, even the church charges an entrance fee. Otherwise you can also bring your own food and have a picnic here, the King's Gate is quite a good place to sit and chill.
Do check the weather before coming here though, as it was raining when we were here and that somewhat affected our experience as most of the places are unshelthered.
Overall an interesting attraction to visit with different activities. Highly recommended as a half to full day excursion from Helsinki. You can reach this place via a public ferry that departs every 20 minutes from the Market Square.

Suomenlinna fortress is one of my favourite places in Finland. Such a beautiful place. The Suomenlinna fortress is located on the coast of Helsinki and it is a UNESCO World Heritage site. I loved everything about this place. You can spend a few good hours walking and exploring the sea fortress. It is a must visit for everyone. I highly recommend it. There are a few restaurants and coffee shops. There's no entry fee to the fortress but you'll have to take a ferry from Helsinki to Suomenlinna fortress. The tickets have different options. For example, buy a single ticket or all-day tickets. The good thing about the tickets is that they can be used for any public transport.

Suomenlinna is a captivating historical site with stunning views of the sea and surrounding islands. The fortress offers a fascinating glimpse into Finland's military past and is perfect for a leisurely day of exploration. You can visit by taking public transport ferry to this Island. Short ferry ride (20min) and nice to visit for a couple of hours or more. Would I prioritize this over other tourist points in Helsinki: no. I recommend seeing it but not above other things and especially during the winter.
Count about 30min to cross the island on foot and about 3hrs when doing the full tour.

A must have for tourists in Helsinki! Cruise to Tallinn was really beautiful, entertaining (there is a lot of activities to do on ship - bars, restaurants, tax free shops, casino etc.), it was a really nice adventure :) - our ferries were MS Gabriella and Viking XPRS.
Two way tickets costs approx 40 euro for two adults, so the price was really cheap.

I've been using Viking, quite a bit.
It's the cheapest line in the route between Helsinki and Tallinn, but you must be on the lookout for the deals to get the best price.
The staff is mostly Finn's now, so may not speak Estonian and Russian. English is well understood though.
The trip itself takes a bit more than 2 hours. There is usually enough room to find a seating area, some have outlets to charge your devices. There is a wi-fi, it's free, but it's rarely working, so don't rely on that.
You can find a few spots to eat, the Buffet is the cheapest compared to competition but it's also provides less value for your $, still it's worth it I believe. The breakfasts buffet lasts for a lot longer than the dinner one, so beware 😄
There is also a deli where you can buy a burger or hot/cold food by the weight. I say go with a burger, their food by weight is overpriced for what you get, and you can get a surprise after the final price is revealed 😥
If you're looking for breakfast, my go-to is oatmeal. It's filling and cheap !
There is also a shop onboard, but there isn't anything really special.

Ship left 10 min before time, spent time outside, lots of seating space. Ship arrived on time and had a great walking tour of the old city.
Return trip was even better, enjoyed time with afternoon sun on level 7 back deck. Also bought some chocolates from duty free ship, quite cheap. Saw locals buying loads of drinks from this shop, must be great deals.

It was such a great first time experience onboard a ship. Viking line service is relatively affordable compared to other ship/ferry services within the Baltic region. The ship had stores for shopping, a bar, restaurant, lounge, several luggage areas, conference rooms and the sun deck. You can literally walk around the entire ship, have a drink or a meal and things onboard are relatively cheap too. Passengers bought a lot of items onboard as well. Really loved the experience. Getting the ticket is also easy as long as you do the online check in to get your QR code prior to departure.

The worst car logistics that ever created by any company. You just can wait to be about an hour to go 200 meters. Few years ago this situation was better. Tallink and Eckero is faster

For the money you pay you get what you expect a small to medium sized boat that has everything you need for the trip. If like to party they have that possibility. And so much more. Also the boat trip itself went by real easy without any problems.

Had a good journey with Viking line to Helsinki. Shopping, food all is well appointed.
Famous Russian architect Aleksey Gornostayev designed the cathedral, which is one of the largest Orthodox churches in Scandinavia. The church has an ornate exterior and lavish interior decoration, and is popular with tourists because of its location near the North Harbor.
Old Russian cathedral that stands out as the building’s architecture is different than any other building in Helsinki. This cathedral is definitely worth checking out from the inside.

It’s a beautiful cathedral which was constructed with recycle bricks due to budget restrains.
Although it’s modest size, the cathedral is fitted very elegantly with beautiful paintings and decorations.
Be mindful not to use your camera flash inside as there are many valuable artwork.
Give yourself a minimum of 30 minutes to enjoy this spectacular building.

Beautiful Russian orthodox church located on the water featuring prominently on Helsinkis skyline. Worth a few photos. Easy to reach via tram.

Beautiful church! Nice to look at anytime of the day and even during evening. The interior is so grand I could look at it for a long time.
Place is serene, peaceful.

Russian orthodox cathedral. Because of it’s bright colors it definitely stands out in the often cloudy winter sky. The interior is truly beautiful and worth a visit.

A beautiful Russian cathedral that you can see from many different parts of Helsinki due to the hill it’s built on. The architecture is also quite unique compared to other buildings in the city so it’s a refreshing visit. The inside is equally as beautiful and if you have the chance I’d recommend. There was a service going on while I was there so only got a bit of a glimpse from the side.

Uspenski Cathedral in Helsinki is the second most popular cathedral in the town. The cathedral's red-brick, Eastern Orthodox architecture is a striking contrast to the surrounding Nordic buildings. Perched atop a hill, it offers panoramic views of the city and the sea. Uspenski Cathedral is a must-see destination in Helsinki, and it provides a unique and enriching cultural experience. 🇫🇮

Helsinki 2nd famous cathedral. Architecture is influenced by Russian design and it is beautiful made with bricks. It is on small hill so when at above you get good view of near by places. Inside architecture is also good. Can't get enough of bricks color and preservation of the cathedral.
There are few steps to climb before you see the main entrance. There are other ways to come.
Very near to market and some food joints.
It is crowded on most of the days.

Helsinki’s Orthodox Cathedral is less striking than its Lutheran counterpart along the road, but is still an attractive building worth a visit. Compared to the rather dark brick exterior, the interior is filled with light, which when the sun shines beautifully captures the wall paintings and gold of the icons. It has a peaceful feel which encourages you to spend a few minutes reflecting. Note opening hours may change around religious festivals such as Holy Week and Easter.

Free to enter. A beautiful Eastern Orthodox Cathedral in Helsinki that is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Consecrated in 1868 and designed by Alex Gornostayev, it is also the site of 2 icon thefts.

It was a very beautiful Cathedral both inside and outside. It was about a 5-10 minute walk from the main Helsinki Cathedral, but worth the walk for the view. The inside was filled with the smell of incense for anyone with a sensitivity.

Finland is well-known for many varieties of Christian religions, such as Orthodox, Lutheran, and so on. Because of that, you can find many iconic churches and cathedrals. This cathedral is the iconic one, that you can visit in Helsinki. The exterior is great, you can see many places since this is higher than the other places. But, this place is not friendly with someone who uses a wheelchair.

This is quite a beautiful place being the Russian Orthodox cathedral in Helsinki and the largest Russian Orthodox cathedral in all of Western and Northern Europe. It is the center of the Finnish Orthodox community in Finland. I always find the icons particularly attractive in the atmosphere in the church is peaceful. A place filled with awe! Amazing artistry and well kept. A must visit.
Love the way tourist are asked to pay their respects. No phone conversations, no talking loudly, no head gear and no flash photography. Very simple ways to show respect of other’s culture.
Just love the peace and quiet here. Come in and sit in the chairs provided for a few minutes and just find peace.
A donation is requested at the entrance.

Located on a short climb up the hill, this is a very interesting place to admire the Eastern Orthodox Church architecture from outside and inside. It was quite the experience to experience the grand exterior and interior of the cathedral.
No information boards if you're coming here alone, and the church interior is not all that big, but still okay to visit on your own.
Recommend the experience as entrance into the cathedral is free, unlike other more famous churches in Helsinki.
Luke Phang — Google review
This cathedral may look big but the opened area to the public is very limited to only a corner of the entrance. It probably took less than 5 minutes to finish this site as you could not really get up close to see the details. If you are in the area, no harm to go visit for a bit; yet definitely no need to come all the way to visit.

Market Square is a popular tourist destination in the heart of Helsinki with stalls selling traditional Finnish treats and souvenirs, as well as music performances. It is located near the city centre, making it very accessible for tourists.

Wow, Matti our tour guide was totally funny and yet very knowledgeable. It was like a 2 hours stand-up comedy with infusion of history lessons. A must take tour of the Helsinki city center. It was -10°C and quite windy the day I took this tour. It was Sunday afternoon so most places were closed for the weekend. That was the only downside. But I think it will be even more enjoyable on the weekdays.

An open air market place with stalls selling a variety of food and souvenirs, this is one location that you should visit in Helsinki when the weather is good. While it's not the main market place, it's still quite authentic and local. You can order food and sit in the different stalls to enjoy the scenery of the harbour and ships coming in and out. The food are quite good too and worth it. Highly recommended.

A nice small market across the road from the presidents palace located on the city wharf.
Many stalls, some selling souvenirs and clothes but most are food stalls serving fried/baked fish of all sorts as well as tinned and marinated fish pieces in jars.
There is one Tacos stand number 26 which I bought some Tacos from. Very nice and fresh food and something different to eat. The staff were friendly and made my food with care.

Tervise Paradiis spaa-hotell & veekeskus, the largest water park in Estonia, is a family-friendly hotel that features thrilling water slides, a cozy spa and an entertaining bowling alley. Recently updated with new spa facilities, guests can no longer purchase a standalone spa ticket but have to opt for the combined water park+spa ticket.
Amazing! Friendly staff, clean and modern. Had a great time at the spa and sauna. The food at the restaurant was really good. Very nice breakfast! The view was beautiful! The romantic cafe was so nice and chill
Alexandru Gutan — Google review
It has quite a new spa area, so it's not only a waterpark anymore. Still, you can't buy only a spa ticket you have to buy at least a waterpark+spa combined ticket. The spa is small but it is beautiful and cool. As it was very crowded it was a bit unpleasant because you had to wait in a queue to get into the saunas or pools. Also, it bothered that little children were in the spa area, as the place is small it was hard to relax. It would be great if children for example under 16 years can only visit the waterpark area.

We were when a person drowned in Spa Center and there were no medical staff attending for at least 15-20 minutes. Only persons who tried to save a man were the people inside the spa center, it was terrible. No one closed the spa, all the children watched a person to be revived. Worst experience! They need to add onsite doctor to attend something like this and also more safeguards.

Visiting from Canada and used the water park. Paid for full day with sauna addition. Overall great experience. Came during the off season so we had the place relatively to ourselves with no waiting for rides. We really loved the rapid River as we never seen something similar elsewhere. The new tube ride was also great to ride solo or as a couple. The sauna area was underwhelming so we would skip it next time. Personally we think the 3 hour ticket is more than enough to do everything. We topped off we a great massage from the spa! It’s a unique attraction in Parnu!

Hotel is on the great location and the rooms are great but the amities that came with the stay made me sad!! Waterpark had a whole second floor closed but we were still charged full price for that visit. The tubes water flow was so weak that people got stuck in them. Also, food that was part of the experience, breakfast and dinners were very cheap looking tasteless and cold! The dinner ended by 7 pm. We usually don't eat before 7 pm so that was an inconvenience as well.

We spent 2 nights here on our special date - how perfect it was! It was like going back to childhood and trying out the amusements of the water park. Thanks to the hotel, we will definitely come back again, so many emotions that we got are priceless. We would especially like to emphasize the attitude of the employees towards the client - so kind, understanding. During our stay, the pool and sauna center were not available, but the hotel informed us about it immediately after making the reservation by phone. The food at both breakfast and dinner was very tasty, there is free parking, hotel guests can use the gym, which is well equipped and the sea view is fantastic. In addition, the hotel has a small shop, bowling, billiards and a very good selection of various SPA services. We will definitely be back!

Water center is ok, but I was dissapointed that there were 6 hair dryers in the women changing room, and all 6 were so old and small that did not work properly - they overheated and stoped to work every 30 sekundes. All 6!! Take your own hair drayer, if you want to dry your hair!! And there is no family changing rooms.

It's our forth time in this hotel, location is great, service as well, breakfast got much better than before.
Only reason for less stars is the facility maintenance. Electric car charge wasn't working, door from garage didn't open, shower door didn't close properly, shower head was lose I needed to tighten it, one coffee machine in breakfast was broken so big line for coffee in breakfast. And more and more maintenance related thing.
Super crucial to address this as this is creating a snowball effect and will be hard to catchup later managing a big facility is not easy but should be prioritized as this one is unique super good for families and you don't want to lose popularity.

The location is good. The hotel is clean, neat. Spa area ok. But the staff is terrible in the cafe and restaurant. When you want to go out to dinner and people look at you like trash. Reluctantly served and cash pushed under
counters, instead of putting them in the cash register. We asked to cut the cake, they refused us a knife. Refused to give a plate to the room. It can be done respectfully: "Sorry, such rules, we can't". At dinner, the buffet for 17€ is pretty bad. Breakfast was good.

Kaali Crater is a historic site located in Saaremaa, housing 9 meteorite craters that date back to approximately 1450 BCE. The island only has one registered meteorite collision, making this location incredibly unique and of significant interest to those fascinated by natural history. Additionally, the crater boasts a sacred lake which was used for ritualistic purposes. The scenery surrounding the area is lovely and visitors can observe fish surviving through harsh winters in the pond at the bottom of the crater.
Really good place those intrested in naturalhistory. Scenery is nice and there were fish in the pond at the bottom of the crater, how they survive trough the winter?!

Must visit. Truly unique sight - the meteorite crater is large enough to have an impact on the visitor and small enough to grasp the force and uniqueness of the event some 3-4,000 years ago. Visit also the visiting centre and museum to understand more of the impact and the cultural influence it had on people witnessing and later - when iron was found - benefiting from the event. There is a nice walkpath on the height surrounding the crater, and one can walk down to the waterline.

Saaremaa Veski, also known as Windmill restaurant, is a popular dining spot in Kuressaare. The restaurant offers a diverse menu and reasonable prices for its dishes. It's located near Ekesparre Boutique Hotel, making it convenient for history buffs staying at the hotel to enjoy a meal there.
Very interesting and surprisingly large old windmill turned into a restaurant. I like that you can also dine inside any of the multiple floors of the mill or on the terrace of the mill on the second floor.
Food was very good but the portions were smaller than expected suggesting multiple courses should be taken.

We had a wonderful dinner here. The restaurant is beautiful, both inside and outside. The fireplace made the atmosphere very cozy. Food was fantastic. The snack platter for 2 would definitely feed 4 as a starter. Loved the smoked trout and pickled veggies. Fish soup was very hearty and served very hot. It comes with bread so I think it would be good for a main meal. Also very pretty food presentation.
Don’t order the birch wine - I was curious what it was and regretted ordering it. Too sweet with a bas smell.
Great service. Very recommended.

We're hostages here. Booked a table for four adults and five kids for 16:00. The restaurant is half full, two family orders arriving at completely different times, portions mixed, some portions were doubled and still asked if we still want them, two main courses took over an hour to get, the waitress disappeared.
Now we've been here for 3hrs15'. Dessert ice cream portions mixed, and still waiting for some desserts.
Food was ok, some good, some quite average like the kids fried chicken.
Send help if you don't hear from us, we're stuck here.

we were guests at the Veski mill today with 8 people and had a reason to celebrate.. We waited 1.5 hours for the last meal.. and there were 45 minutes between the first meal and the last meal. The food itself is well made, but it doesn't work at all when 8 people order together and can't eat together and the first have to wait 65!minutes until the last ones get their food at the table. This is very very bad service even if the food is ok . I can't recommend coming here with several people. The table between us wait 1,5 hours for her drinks ..
Unfortunately, at the end of the day, there were items on the bill that we hadn't ordered. You really feel badly served there. We had imagined the evening differently.

The restaurant provides a unique opportunity to take a break for a meal inside the windmill. The food and service were best experienced in Estonia at that moment. I ordered top-notch fish soup and a delicious beef burger with a summer salad. The service time was really quick and the waitress was very attentive to the order in which I asked for the food to be brought. The prices were a little bit lower than in Tallinn’s restaurants in the Old Town.

Turku Cathedral, the main Lutheran church in Finland, is a large brick Gothic structure that has been reconstructed multiple times after destructive fires. The cathedral, consecrated in 1300 and restored after a fire in 1827, boasts impressive frescoes and royal tombs as well as a religious museum featuring medieval sculptures and other artifacts. Visitors can also enjoy free summer concerts showcasing the cathedral's organ on Tuesdays at 8pm.
Good place to visit if you’re in Turku and you will be astonished if you imagine about the time it was built!
View from the outside is great and there’s no entry ticket.

Beautiful cathedral. Located in the centre. Recommended to see when you are in Turku.

In a generally low-rise city centre, Turku Cathedral is a striking, dominant presence. Externally, it has the appearance of many alterations across the centuries, whereas first impressions inside are of a harmonious, peaceful place. More detailed exploration will show all the ways it has changed over the years, but it is an interesting church to explore, with variously chapels and monuments revealing a long and complex history. It’s also worth spending a little time sitting and soaking up the tranquility amidst the busy city outside.

Beautiful cathedral. Very unusual look to it. There is a small museum upstairs that only costs 2 euro and I think it was interesting and definitely worth the few minutes it took to go up. There are some very cool models of the cathedral from various stages in its history. The visit has spurred me to read up a little more about the history of Turku and the great fire.

It was the most beautiful and wonderful church I have ever been to visit in Northern Europe. As soon as I entered, the sound of pipe organ ensemble, which sounded meek, and the quiet, sacred interior, was really beautiful. I entered without expecting much but the inside was so beautiful that I stayed in the cathedral for 30 minutes.

Unless you are very much into churches, the best way for me to enjoy this building is to sit at the outside restaurant/food stand area close by, and just chill there. You will have the church in the background for the pictures, and at the same time, the feeling that you are in the city center.

The cathedral is an amazing piece of history. Not only is the building still in use and beautifully maintained, they have also taken care to preserve the evidence of its many incarnations. The models showing its transformation over the centuries was well worth the visit. But then there was more! Statues, metalwork in silver and pewter, and textiles dating back centuries. One of the most moving buildings I have had the pleasure of visiting. ♥️♥️♥️

When you see the church and think about the time when it was built, you can't help but be astonished. One of the greatest cathedrals in Finland.

"Proper Finland" is the oldest part of the country, and the Cathedral of Turku represent the place in which Finland, as we know it today, took its' first steps. The old graves under the cathedral are just like in the middle Europes cathedrals, but in addition, there are, for example miniatures from the vessels that were absolute life line for Finns for centuries. Turku Cathedral is part of everyday life even today. At the time of the visit, there were exhibition from Ukraine and children's music school.
Open for all for free.

This is the most sacred place in Turku. Built in 1300s and you can see the old constructions and renovations done over the years. Good place for history lovers. There are severel chappels and glorious artworks including glass paintings. One of the most impressive thing is the pipe organ which is played several times a day. There is an small museum inside which cost 2€ for an adult which mainly includes the history of the cathedral.

The cathedral is important but nothing exceptional. What made the visit great was the rehearsal with the organ (every Tuesday, there are free concerts). The museum is also a big plus. Compact on the right side of the church.

Beautiful castle, full of history and many notable Swedish people who are laid to rest here. Clean toilets available too but only one for each gender + handicap toilet near the entrance. Entry to the cathedral is free of charge. Very big and peaceful. There's also a corner for children to play.

Luostarinmäki is a museum that showcases handicrafts and is situated in Turku's lower-class quarter. The 19th-century wooden workshops and houses that make up the museum survived the Great Fire of 1827, and have been preserved since then. The outdoor museum comprises workshops of 30 artisans, including a silversmith, watchmaker, baker, potter, shoemaker, printer and cigar shop. Visitors can witness craftsmen in period costume practicing their trades.
Highlight of our Turku visit. A living museum, with real life actors which are handmaking e.g. souvenirs for the shops. A lot of small Details everywhere.

This is one of the only set of houses kept in tact from the Great Fire. Many buildings are unlocked, allowing you to see rooms that are maintained and restored to demonstrate living conditions and livelyhood. There are friendly staff who are in certain homes, there to help explain details of the village.
There is only one entrance, so you'll have to walk around depending on your approach. It is very walkable from the town center and worth a visit if you come to Turku.

You really need 2-3 hours to see everything. Really nice museum with real experience feeling from living in the 1800-1900. It was an eye opener even to a Finn. Lovely in so many ways. There was actors and village sounds all around.

Must go spot for tourists in Turku. Retained a large portion of buildings with that strong medieval vibes. Cheap tickets. Can totally spend half a day walking around. With nice handicrafts products, lot of handcraft masters in the village

This is truly hipster place, worth of at least half a day visit, if not the whole day visit. I didn't know that, arrived 1,5 hours before the closing time, and managed to explore up to 5 houses.
Every building presents some craftsmanship from the past, with a lot of examples. Sometimes there are people that work at the place, presenting their craftsmanship directly to the visitors.
A lot of information is written on the information tables, but you can use also audio guide scanning QR codes placed at the information tables.

Open air museum to showcase history of Turku. Interactive experience with audio guide and guides dressed up in the traditional dress. Visitor friendly convenient place, lockers available to store luggage. Nice place to visit for all ages. Free audio guides available on the cloud. The links to audio guides are available to the gates in the form of QR code. 2-3 hours would be recommended to budget for the visit.

A living history museum, describing life in the city of Turku in the 19th century, before the fire in 1827.
A neighborhood of wooden houses is being recreated on the spot, where each sub-house is located in a residential environment around an inner courtyard
In the various complexes, physical, museum and interactive displays are set up (through role-playing games, some of which are simulated, playing ancient games outside and computerized 3D moves in the city of Turku, most of which does not exist today due to the fire)
In the complex there is a cafe and a souvenir shop.
The place is fascinating, fun for both adults and children!

I've been looking forward to visit this place because I knew that it's one of the most important place for Turku, but honestly I didn't know that it's so awesome. I can't explain it so the only way it's that you visit it by yourself

Luostarinmäki is an open-air museum located in Turku, Finland. It's a historical area that showcases the preserved wooden houses and shops from the 18th and 19th centuries, providing visitors with a glimpse into the city's past. The museum offers a unique opportunity to explore the daily life and craftsmanship of that era. It's a popular attraction for tourists interested in Finnish history and culture.
Turku Castle, founded in 1280 at the mouth of the Aurajoki River, is Finland's largest fortress. It has undergone significant transformations from a simple island fortress to a Renaissance palace. The castle houses a historical museum that traces its history from medieval fort to renaissance palace. Visitors can explore two dungeons and lavish banqueting halls while learning about Turku's medieval past through models that showcase the castle's growth.
One of the most beautiful castles I have seen in Finland. Must visit. Excellent collection and presentation. Well maintained

Very interesting castle. The interior design is contemporary and the ticket price is okay for the size. Interesting insight into the Middle Ages of Finland. There were a few families with small children on site, so it was certainly well suited for children. I don't recommended buying tickets in advance, cause there weren't lots of visitors.

Although a little way out of central Turku, it is well worth the easy walk along the river or short bus ride to visit the castle, which can easily absorb half a day or more. It was badly damage in World War II, and it has been rebuilt with the minimum of conjectural reconstruction, and is a delightful labyrinth in which to immerse yourself for a few hours. The original castle is a bewildering journey of passageways and staircases (there is a really helpful room containing models of the castle through the centuries), with the lower part focussed on the medieval era and the upper part on the Renaissance period. The bailey, at the front, is part castle history and part museum of nineteenth-century Turku interiors. There’s a café/restaurant in the courtyard for sustenance, and helpful staff positioned strategically around the tourist route.

My wife and I spent 3 hours going through the castle a few years ago, and wanted to come again. This time we spent 4.5 hours. I truly enjoy this castle.
Harry Marttinen — Google review
We visited here on a weekend. We arrived a bit last minute, and didn’t have enough time to see all of the castle. There weren’t many guests left. Us and two other groups.
Nevertheless, the castle is well preserved and I really liked the staff; Knowledgeable, polite and with a positive attitude.
I advise to definitely have at least 2 hours of time, so you can relax and enjoy the place in peace.
The tickets for adults are 12€, kids (7-15) 5€, under 7 are free. There’s also special family tickets etc, you can ask at the front desk. You may also use the museum card.
If you’re a wheelchair user or have trouble walking, some areas may be impossible for you to access, while others a bit hard. There seems to be an elevator, which you can use to get to some parts, so not completely inaccessible.

Great place to get to know about history of the castle and the city. Absolutely love its historic atmosphere and the detailed guidance on the signs. I could easily wandered around designed 'tours' without a guide person. The exhibitions were amazing with lots of items displayed along with interesting notes about them. Just 3-km walk along Aura river to get there from the Cathedral. Highly recommend!!! (Idk why but on the day I got there, there were many families with small kids running around 😂, so probably it can be a nice place for family too)

A wonderful castle, which is a must for every visitor to Turku!
A beautiful building that underwent a conservation process, and its spaces have become a living museum of extraordinary history. The museum includes dramatic exhibition spaces, and spaces with interactive displays for children who can be almost real knights🤺🤺, kings and queens👸🤴🏻 Throughout the year, there are unique activities, plays and workshops for children.
A place that the children want to return to again and again...
The complex has a cafe with a unique atmosphere. Hot and sweet chocolate was an excellent end to a winter visit to the castle...☕☕

This place deserves 10 out of 5 stars!!! The castle is amazing itself as well as the modern restoration and information regarding how they did it. And just when you think you're done there's a whole other area filled with slightly more modern furniture, clothing, metalwork and more! Be sure to give yourself lots of time. I'm a slow museum visitor but I don't think I could see it all in one day.

I could’ve spent easily 2 more hours in there. I learned so much about Turku’s (and Finland in general) history at this museum. The staff is kind and helpful and eager to explain. I wish the lighting could be a little brighter because there were some exhibit notes that I couldn’t read because of how dim the castle was. The castle can also be rented out for special occasions like weddings and such! I was grateful that most rooms had its exhibit notes translated in English.

Despite Turku Castle's rich history and knowledgeable staff, our overall experience was marred by an unexpected policy regarding ticket validity. On our first visit, we purchased tickets in the late afternoon but didn't have time to explore the entire castle. When we returned the following day to continue our tour, we were informed that we needed to purchase new tickets, despite having paid €14 each for the original tickets.
While some of the staff members were genuinely passionate about sharing the castle's history, our encounter with the older lady at the reception left a sour taste. Her dismissive attitude and the lack of flexibility regarding ticket validity tarnished our overall impression of the castle. It's disheartening to see a place with such a rich heritage adopting a money-oriented approach that prioritizes ticket sales over customer satisfaction.
We suggest that Turku Castle consider extending the validity of their tickets to 24 hours, allowing visitors to fully explore the castle at their own pace without the burden of purchasing multiple tickets. This change would be more customer-friendly and align with the spirit of a historical landmark that deserves to be appreciated and understood in its entirety.

Turku Castle, Linnankatu 80, 20100 Turku
Among Finland’s most prized pieces of national heritage, as well as one of its oldest buildings, Turku Castle took shape in the late-1200s during Finland’s Swedish period.
It was built to defend their province of Eastland but took on all sorts of different roles over the next few centuries: It was a luxurious palace, administrative centre, seat of government, warehouse and then a prison right up to the end of the 1800s.
Following a delay, the building was finally renovated in 1987 and is now a museum.
Currently under maintenance and repair activities.

Panga Cliff, located west of Tuhkana, offers a breathtaking view of the Baltic Sea and the neighboring island of Hiiumaa. The area features a pleasant walk through the forest with the warmth of the woods on one side and the refreshing sea breeze on the other. The soft ground adds to the natural charm, while amenities such as easy parking, uncrowded spaces, an art craft shop, and expansive sea views make it a delightful experience.

Beautiful place but not the most impressive cliff. It's only about a 40 feet drop. You can walk down to the beach down if you want. There is a small shop where you can get coffee and snacks. There are barbecue pits where you can do your own barbecues and the park is a good place for a picnic. But if you have very limited time in the island this is not a must visit.
