I feel badly giving a poor review, but this is probably the worst food tour I've been on, and my husband and I have been on upwards of 20 all over the world, in multiple continents. I love travel and food and exploring local cuisine, so I was very disappointed in this one. This particular tour was problematic for about three reasons, that cumulatively left us disappointed. The first was that we had a trainee tour guide who was very nice, but just didn't know very much yet. We didn't get very thorough information or learn anything new. There was a senior tour guide there observing him and stepping in occasionally to help, but it was quite uneven. The second reason was the restaurant choice. I bear some responsibility here, because the list of the potential restaurants was available online. For this particular tour there were like 16 places we could have gone, depending on the time or day (this tour was the only one available to book when I booked, so I just crossed my fingers and did it.) I should have thought more about it, because we really didn't eat any authentic Swedish food at all, except at the Urban Deli (which was very good!). It was Chinese, Greek, Indian, and Japanese, and then chocolate and Gelato. It was all fine, it's just that when I travel I want to learn and experience what makes that place unique from a culinary perspective, and we didn't get that. It wasn't bad food, but it wasn't Swedish, and it wasn't even a particularly great example of that type of cuisine. Again, this is on me for not reading the fine print ahead of time. If you go, I'd suggest looking carefully at the restaurants ahead of time. Finally, there was a HORRIBLE child on this tour that I'm pretty sure ruined it for everyone, the tour guides included. I've never actually been on a food tour with a little kid (he was maybe 6?) and wow I can see why most people wouldn't bring small kids. This is, OF COURSE, not the guides' fault. They were gamely trying to soldier on as he interrupted them, ran around the restaurants, grabbed their personal belongings, yelled, pulled on the senior tour guide's purse, tried grabbing other members of tour, etc...all while his parents did nothing at all. I've never seen anything like it. I have been on other food tours where they explicitly say it's not kid appropriate and children aren't allowed. I can understand if this company doesn't want to do that, but then maybe they could specify "family friendly tour of Stockholm" or some such, and have other options to go on kid-free tours, so that the rest of us don't have to suffer. Anyhow, all in all it was a fairly unpleasant experience due to a bunch of things that added together to make it so. I do feel badly to give a negative review and i want to be fair. The guides were very nice, it just left us disappointed.
