How long is the drive from Saarbrucken to Strasbourg?
The direct drive from Saarbrucken to Strasbourg is 74.6 mi (120 km), and should have a drive time of 1 hr 14 mins in normal traffic.
If you’re going on a road trip from Saarbrucken to Strasbourg, we did the research for you and compiled some great stops along the way — with top places to visit like Saarland Therme GmbH & Co. KG and Europe's Rose Garden, or the ever-popular Saarbrücken Zoo.
The top stops along the way from Saarbrucken to Strasbourg (with short detours) are Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-Strasbourg, Petite-France, and Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg. Other popular stops include Parc aquatique Aqua Mundo Center Parcs Les Trois Forêts, La Montagne des Singes, and Saarland Therme GmbH & Co. KG.
Saarbrücken Zoo houses a diverse collection of 150 animal species from different parts of the world, providing petting enclosures, pony rides and night tours. The zoo is conveniently situated with sufficient street parking space on weekdays. However, weekends and summer vacations might pose a challenge for parking. Despite its moderate size, the animals are well-maintained in clean enclosures. Visitors can indulge in watching seals at play while some empty enclosures may be attributed to cooler weather conditions.
We went a few weekends ago, weather was a bit chilly and not all animals were available to see (gorilla fir example) but it was spontaneous and still a great family day out! The restaurant/ cafe is tiny and only fits two families inside, outside however they have a great set up which includes a nice little playground. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, I asked for boiled water for a baby bottle and got it free of charge (not something you come across often these days!).
It's quite small but tbh that's to be expected given it's location.
The highlight of our day was seeing the Seals display, very cute and entertaining and they're adorable!
The kids also loved the 'rope' bridge, and I have to say it's refreshing to see it's been made so that you can take a Buggy/ wheelchair across it - lovely to see it's been made to suit everyone!
We can't wait to go back when the weather is better!

We visited the zoo on a week day and were able to find ample parking on the street. I can imagine parking would be more difficult on a weekend, or in the summer when kids are out of school. The zoo is a nice size, with a variety of animals. All of the animals seemed well cared for and their enclosures were clean. We really enjoyed watching the seals. A few of the enclosures were empty, this may have been due to the cooler weather. The zoo was easy to navigate with a stroller. Overall we really enjoyed the zoo.

Pros:
- Good size for kids. ( around 3h is enough)
- Animals seemed well cared for and their enclosures were clean, besides the aquarium seals.
- Good playgrounds and area for picnic
Cons:
- A few of the enclosures were empty
- Small parking place
- Bring your water/drinks as not many available throughout.

Wonderful choice for a day trip. A lot of animals are there like jaguars, gorillas, snakes, giraffes and many more including birds. A big area of zoo around four acres. The entry ticket fee is 15 Euros for adults. It is worth spending money and time. The closing time is 6pm during summer and 5pm during winter. Public bus service is available to the location. I got a rare chance to see the animals which I have never seen in my life. Really enjoyed!

Had some cute animals for our 3 year old to see but some animals were missing!

An amazing place to visit! Highly recommend.
All animals and their homes are very well kept and maintained. Animals seem playful and happy. My favorites were penguin 🐧 seals 🦭 zillion monkey species and of course the python.

A good zoo to visit if you are in the surroundings. There is not much parking place (we came on a bank holiday and everything was full). I have to say that the zoo is well distributed, you can walk for hours and you don't feel that you're in the middle of the city. The animals are well taken care of and it is a nice place to visit with your kids.

The zoo was a great family outing.I went in the morning when they opened and the kids got to see every animal they wanted to see. The zoo is easy to navigate and stroller friendly. The kids also enjoy the playgrounds as well. Good family fun and picnic areas as well.

Really fun Zoo to visit. Although not many options to buy food, and only cash.

Good zoo for a half day adventure. Plan for many hills. Variety of animals was good but definitely on the smaller side compared to other zoo locations. Bring your water/drinks as not many available throughout. There are three playgrounds on site. Overall our girls enjoyed Saarbrucken zoo.
Indoor & outdoor pools, massages & saunas at a wellness hub with a modern, Moorish-themed design.
I love that place! Beautiful building, nice water features, very pleasant temperature, kind staff. Never tried the restaurant but I will. My personal favorite is the salty pool with music. Very relaxing.

I've been looking for a sauna for a long time and I was recommended Saarland Thermes. It's located beautifully, it has got all the makings of a really nice place...... but I find some of the personnel very arrogant (please..... you're working in a pool, that doesn't make you god!) and I will continue my quest to find a sauna I like!

This is a great spa and it has the option of with or without swimwear. The food in the restaurant has lots of Moroccan flavour. My only criticism is we told the lady at the front counter it was our first time and she offered no assistance explaining the facility. We had to figure it out on our own...
Jamaria Harris — Google review
Mineral therme where you can relax, many pools where to swim with integrated jacuzzi and bubbly water, there are an indoor and an outdoor pool, the last is so beautiful at night especially with lights and candles on. There are also different saunas and hamam and there is a salty pool. I recommend to spend the day there since you have all what you want there (food, relaxing area where you can sleep, showers and more).

Although we mentioned this is our first visit to the cashier at the entrance, there was no explanation provided regarding rules. A simple leaflet could do the job here. We came with our son, he is 17 months old and we were informed that children above 12 months have to pay an adult ticket. This is a downside for families with young children. The cashier even insisted that he gets a bracelet as well. When we reached the pool area, all the sun chairs were taken by towels. Although it is not allowed to reserve your chair, well, there were no sun chairs available and very few people on them.. Finally, the rules are not well explained and most people do not respect them, making the experience difficult to enjoy. On the upside, the food was quite decent and well priced, as well as the overall quality of the place.

The Saarland spa is Outstanding if you are a couple or lovebirds!
The main reception area was nice. The reception area would be a great area to place some directions on the wall on how everything works inside the spa. I think it would save the receptionist, some time answering questions in 3 different languages.
The environment definitely has the WoW factor. Especially in the evening when the pianist is playing music and you’re relaxing in the water or eating dinner upstairs.
Speaking of restaurant, the spa had healthy choices and the food was reasonably priced for the environment. I recommend the chicken salad.
To me the spa was a lover birds paradise . And it certainly reflected that at every pool. In my humble opinion, this is an outstanding spa for couples.
And I think it’s a disaster for a single person, or any chaperones. Everywhere you look, someone is kissing and cuddling and that’s not bad but if you’re single, you’re not gonna watch and if you are chaperoned on a date you’re going to be frustrated as well.
And if you’re a tourist, you’re probably going to be disappointed as well. Mostly because all of the local love birds taking every jet in every pool. There are directions in German and French throughout the facility. But I didn’t find any English directions . With the exception of the food menus at the restaurant. At the restaurant you can ask for an English menu. Seriously I don’t recommend this spa for tourist unless you want to watch a bunch of 20 and 30 year old adults French Kissing.
This Spa is a lovebirds paradise. Everything about the Saarland Therme was built for lovebirds. I don’t think anybody else is going to be happy here except for Love Birds.
Maybe management should consider changing the Spa name to Saarland Lovebirds spa.

This is the 6th sauna we have visited so far, most in Belgium, and this is more on the lower end of the list.
Things we liked:
- great hammams, good temperature and incredible smell
- very good food, good value
- salt bath was quite unique
- lemon water to stay hydrated
Things we didn't like:
- textile free zone is SMALL (don't want to go when it's crowded)
- actually not much to do, we like spending up to 6 hours at the sauna but here 4 hours were definitely enough, and we visited the whole complex
- no direct access to the outside and a cold bath to visit after sauna!! You had to go all the way up to the roof terrace.
--> For the price we were not really impressed and would probably not go again if we were in the area.

The staff is horrible, there was an angry guy yelling at me and my boyfriend all the time, rules are terrible, you can not bring your phone outside the locker, the worst therms in our lives. They yelled that we will fly through the door if we don't put the phone in the locker.

Very beautiful Therme and sauna. The water is very good - i felt a difference. As i had been walking 31 km this day specially the massage in the pools were good as they are very powerful nozzles.

Absolutely loved visiting the rose garden. It was very inexpensive to get in (I believe 4 euro). and a nice sized garden. The paths were well maintained and all the flowers were in full bloom. They have various alcoves and benches throughout where you can sit and enjoy the atmosphere.
There is also a good sized playground in the back corner of the garden that would be great for children. There are several fountains, statues, and a little shop. Also has a pond/lake.
Additionally, there is a wonderful restaurant next to the rose garden. We went in the afternoon and walked right to a table. The food was delicious and the prices were decent.
I would definitely recommend both and next time I would bring my kids to play and possibly some sweets so we can have a picnic on the lawn.
Tania Dominguez — Google review
Absolutely beautiful rose garden! We went 22 October and the weather was perfect… Sunny with a cool breeze
The entrance tickets were reasonable and the garden has many walking trails to enjoy the flowers and scenery.
There is a small cafe with coffee, snacks and a few other things to purchase (aprons, bath items, kitchen items etc)
Can’t wait to go back during the summer ☀️
I would rate higher if the garden was large
Tela Royston — Google review
A big and beautiful garden with a lot of roses, and a good place to lose a couple of hours , just relaxing and walking around. It's important to chose a good time to visit, because end of july not to many roses to see.

Brought my 5,3, and 1 year olds today (Wednesday morning at end of May). Admission was only 4.5 euros for myself and kids under 6 were free. It was a wonderful way to spend 20-30 minutes strolling around. They have carts to borrow for free, leave an ID until you return. The flowers weren’t much in bloom yet, maybe 20% of them but still worth the trip. They have bathrooms near the entrance that were clean and benches throughout to stop and relax and enjoy the view.
Danielle Cummings — Google review
Beautiful flower garden! There are quite the variety of flowers, but mainly roses. We loved all of the unique flowers, the statues, and fountains. Beautiful grounds and very well kept!

A nice place to go and relax. We paid 4.5€ per person. I think that I won't visit it again. It's nice to go once but twice is enough.

If your looking for an amazing getaway. Maybe a place to just decompress and read a book? Or listen to the concert center playing a range of music to grab a parter and dance or maybe chill and have a drink. This is for sure the spot to visit. I have been putting this place on the back burner for visiting and glad I finally made the trip. For entrance they charge 4.50 euro which is very reasonable for all they offer. Very beautiful garden. Tickets are cheap and reduced prices for students. Not a very big garden but good place to visit and relax . There is a small rose meuseum ,it's so nice also coffee & cake shop.
Large outlet mall since 2001 with many luxury & international brands, eateries & kids' play areas.
Great outdoor outlet mall with a variety of brands and reasonable prices. The public bathrooms are also clean and ample. You can choose between a couple of cafes and restaurants to eat or have a burger from Five Guys if you are on a budget.
Shadi — Google review
It’s a decent outlet mall, but nothing like in the States. They have plenty of premium stores, and restaurants. There are also food trucks which were parked throughout the entire outlet and many restrooms. It’s not too big and you can walk around the entire outlet in a short amount of time. It gets the job done...

Seriously, not impressed. Mediocre!
Sad there are no toy shops, perfume stores, world famous cosmetic brands.
A great thing we found a poutine place! Can recommend that more than shopping here

Shoppers paradise. This is my 2nd visit to the outlet. 1st visit from Luxembourg and 2nd during en route from Munich to Lux. FYI It's around 90mins from/to Lux. Renowned fashion and lifestyle brands offer reduced prices almost all year round. Currently one can benefit from the winter sale. It's an outdoor mall so keep your jackets on :) Clean washrooms and ample parking space makes shopping convenient. Though there are a handful of restaurants/food trucks, for such a large shipping space, I wish there were more dining options.
Suneela Isaac — Google review
It was umplanend visit but we enjoy, so many stores in one place with free Parking. WORLD OF FUN Freizeitpark‘ also nearby.
Definitely we gone a visit one more time in Summer.

In all, you can actually save a bit of money by visiting. When I need to update my Adidas casual "jogger" wardrobe, for example, it is always best to come here. Cookware, clothing, leather goods, shoes, etc., can all be found at the many stores on site and generally speaking at a significant savings.
You will find ample parking, car charging stations, and food trucks galore.
But, I think the real reason to come is the welcoming atmosphere and "village like" design of the campus. You can grab a burger or an espresso and simply enjoy the sense of community and simple commerce. I do not make a habit out of visiting, but every three months or so I find myself here and it is a very enjoyable experience.
Christopher Combest — Google review
A nice place to go and do shopping at reasonable prices. Not everything is always cheaper but in general the prices are good. There are most of the big brands available and restaurants too. Make sure to get a fashion card it gives you points that can be used to get further discounts, so get it first to maximize your points and discounts.
heinz giering — Google review
Really nice assortment of shopping places as well as restaurants and food places. We have found parking to be a bit of an issue so make sure to give yourself plenty of time to find a parking spot. Sometimes you have to circle around and wait for a car to leave. Other than that we really enjoy the variety of stores!
Madeline — Google review
An amazing place I have been in many fashion outlet malls it cities this one is so far the best, very big parking and for free nice atmosphere no overcrowded waiting and super cool prices during sales seasons

A nice place to get shopping done. Directly adjacent to the highway there is plenty of parking available. All kinds of stores are set up in close proximity and maps and signs make navigation easy. There are a multitude of benches, trash cans and toilets. The walkways are rarely overcrowded and clean at all times.
Overall a very solid experience
Parc aquatique Aqua Mundo Center Parcs Les Trois Forêts
Water park
Water & Amusement Parks
Wave pools & the 190m-long Master Blaster water slide, plus a wild river with tropical vegetation.
What a fantastic place for families with kids! The indoor pool is amazing. Temperature is around 30C or 87F, so is the water. The pool is under a huge glass dome with palm trees inside. There are several pool areas and slides. The indoor pool connects to an outside area, where you can have fun under waterfalls, simulated currents, etc. Every 30 minutes, they make artificial waves in the main indoor pool. There is a separate pool for toddlers with sand. And another water playground with water cannons for kids. Supermarket, bars, restaurants are all located in the same building where the pool area is. Traffic is closed for motorized vehicles within the park. You either walk, bike, or use the golf carts available for rent to get from your cabin to the pool, restaurant, etc. There are also several outdoor playgrounds scattered over the park and one building features cool indoor playgrounds. Also available: tennis court, pony rides, adventure park, and a lot more. Awesome park!

Visited on a friday after noon, there are 4 medium slides, 1 small, kids area, "body rafting slid" swimming pool, wave pool, jacuzzi and kids area. We had fun, we felt it was expensive comparing similar experiences, paid 145 euro for 3 persons. There was unpleasant small in the dressing area. It was written they are planning shut down for renovations from april, maybe this will improve the overall expriance

A really great place for leisure time with the kids. 32°C inside, 30°C in the water.
A lot of activities, slides, wave pool, etc. Palm trees create a real holiday feeling.
A bit crowded, but that's the limitation of all great places.

A bit busy, no signs in English all in french and German. Have preferred the aqua mundo in Bois aux daims and de vosemeren
Gareth Woodward — Google review
A very important point! The staff does not adequately monitor the condition of the equipment in the water park. To explain, the tubing for sliding down the enclosed water slide is poorly inflated and does not secure the rider. During my slide, my deflated tube caused me to flip over and be covered by the tube. I hit my cheekbone on the bottom of the slide and suffered a back muscle strain. This is a real health hazard!
Alexey Grekov — Google review
The water throughout is simply way too cold to stay in there for longer than 15 minutes. People are complaining all over, and the waterpark is full of shivering kids.
Mario Domisse — Google review
The water park with its green house construction is amazing. The water is at 29degrees Celsius, which is great. The water slides are very good as well. A great experience was the “River”. Probably the aqua mundo is the best feature of the park.
In the Main building there are NO places to sit and relax or wait. The only sits are the ones at the restaurants.
Avoid Saturday and Sunday if you want to enjoy. Too many people during the weekend.
Modified in my second visit.

Amazing, highly reccommend !
Parc is very beautiful and you can spend all day in Aquapark. There are some original activities such as climing wall over water and the Crazy river!
If you take a daily pass (without accommodation, you can also visit the farm and indoor amazing playground for free)
Sebastien Rabaud — Google review
Overall, it's not half bad. This Aqua Mundo is located in what is reportedly the largest Centre Parcs village. You definitely get that feeling from time to time here. We stayed for a week and the first few days were OK. The pool was busy but not crowded however by midweek it was very busy. The main/wave pool was like people soup, not much option for actual swimming and the rides were packed, even witnessing a couple of people being stretchered off from the rapids. Talking of rides, when it's busy, the queues were very long with waits of 15 minutes not uncommon and on a couple of occasions the rides were closed early, leading to disappointment.
Talking of disappointment, the pool isn't open all day so even though there is a poolside cafe it closes with the pool for 1.5 hours over lunch meaning you also need to plan your morning or early afternoon around the pool times if you want to get in for more than 1 hour. Finally, getting in and out. It's bedlam there are so many people and not enough changing areas and even if you do want to leave the pool at that time, you can't as you have to pass through a cubicle.
Finally, security. The park has a modern bracelet system for accessing your villa and storing activity tickets which also works as a locker key. Issue is, they don't always work and while the locker looks shut, it can pop back open. We fell foul of that and the result was the loss of all my daughters clothes, so we made sure to be extra vigilant after that.
Sounds negative but it was mostly OK, just want to share the "real" experience. Bigger is not always better.
Yuri — Google review
2.5⭐️ - For bigger children this might be a lot of fun, but for smaller kids (and parents) it‘s way too crowded and cold. The pool for small children is colder than the main pool. Why?!
Most importantly, for the amount of cottages they have in this park, the adventure pool area needs to be much much larger. It’s so incredibly crowded that there is literally no place to relax (even for a minute) as a parent or to not be trampled on in the pool.
Imposing 17th-century citadel with a chapel & a museum focusing on the 1870 Franco-Prussian war.
The impressive fortress is clearly medieval. I am very sorry that I could not come during working hours to enter the fort, but there is a better side to the visit. When you get to the entrance, you have a path around the entire fortress and from all sides you can see the city of Bitsch, a very nice and pleasant view of the city. The only thing I can tell you is to warm up because there is a strong and sharp wind. The parking lot is huge and can accommodate a lot of guests. The visit was superb.

I am not always a fan of movies trying to be historically accurate, but I have to admit that the one you follow during the visit of the citadelle is pretty well made. Learning about the war of 1870 - which even French schools barely touch on - was very interesting. And the views from the citadel are pretty interesting. Don't miss the orientation table above the coffee and souvenir shop.

Visiting this cute little French city has been on our list for sometime now. 📃
We stopped at the 📍Citadel of Bitche 🇫🇷 and really enjoyed exploring the very well kept underground fortress. Numerous stops along the underground tour boasted videos depicting the war between France and Germany. One of the coolest parts were the headphones that came with the self guided tour. When you get to a certain location, they are activated and will begin giving you a history of the area you are currently in. Really neat!

The tourist attraction known as the Saint-Louis-Arzviller inclined plane is a boat-lift that was constructed to replace 17 locks on the Marne-Rhine canal. It allows canal barges to be lifted up an incline, providing a unique and impressive experience for visitors. The attraction offers a cruise down the incline and along the lower level canal before returning back up the incline. Visitors should note that language barriers are not an issue, as guides are often multilingual.
Great attraction, cruised down the incline and along lower level canal, then back up the incline

Fortified castle with a tumultuous history, perched upon rocks overlooking the Alsace Plain.
On top of a hill next to Saverne you can find the ruins of a castle, built on top of a rock, that may remind you of the Colorado region. The climb to the top can be made by stairs, however it is recommended to pay attention to the risks of this activity and if you're having kids, to keep them close and under attention. If you don't like heights better admire from the ground.
You also have a restaurant next so you can enjoy a drink, meal or cafe.
The "drawback" is that the only thing you will see there are the ruins and the nice views, not more.

By far my favorite castle in Alsace. Sitting on a large red stone rock this castle gives us a glimpse at the engineering that's was involved in building massive structures in difficult conditions about 1,000 years ago. I always imagine how it felt centuries ago to stand up there and see the Strasbourg cathedral in the distance. Wow.
And you may want to give a try to the restaurant Là Haut right in the middle of the castle. Foods great, people are welcoming, views are breathtaking.

Food was good, just enough though. Maybe i was unlucky with the portion since the person in the next table have ordered the same dish but the portion was much bigger. The stuff was polite but very stressed. Of course it was very busy period.

Very beautiful place and an ideal way to start beautiful hikes. The restaurant is a bit out of touch in the castle, but it can be a plus of course if you are hungry :-).
We lacked a bit of history on the place. There were some information panels, but overall there is not a real way to grasp the full story.

A lot of ruined castles around in Alsace. This one is relatively easy to get to and the views from it are great. No entry fee! There is a restaurant here too if you want a small drink or bite.
Guido Coenders — Google review
A well restored castle that is easy to explore on your own. All the signs with information on the exhibits are in English too. Even though we went at what Google said was the busiest time of day, the castle wasn’t crowded and there was parking easily available along the road leading up to the castle. There is also an amazing view from the castle so try to go when it isn’t too cloudy.

A magnificent old castle overlooking the plains of Alsace. The walking through the forest leading to the castle is so pleasant! Will go back if having an opportunity.
A nice little garden to calm down. Lots of benches to sit down and enjoy nature. You can buy some local goods at the store or have a drink. It was rather dry during my visit. Still well worth the trip.

The Royal Palace is a must-visit event that offers an impressive show, likened to the grandeur of the Moulin Rouge in Paris but with a larger stage and more affordable prices. The performances are captivating, featuring fantastic artists that provide top-notch entertainment. While some visitors found the food to be good but not exceptional, the overall experience of the show is highly recommended. Guests have expressed their enjoyment and satisfaction with the incredible performances and great value for money at this amazing venue.
Close to Strasbourg, 30km drive, surprisingly a real international class cabaret, outstanding spectacle!
I recommend to have dinner before at Le Versailles Restaurant, one of their 2 located in the complex, nice menu.
And the last part of the night, joining the final party at The Lounge, night club dedicated only to the guests of the cabaret!
A real outstanding evening!!

The only small draw back was the food - it was good but not quite at the expectations.
However, I recommend you to see the show, it really worths it.

One of the events you should visit onces in a lifetime. Compare the shows with the Moulin Rouge in Paris but with bigger stage and olso important, less expensive. 5 euro for a Crement d´alsace rosé! The Moulin Rouge is of corse the original, and if you prefer more nudity then you should try the Crazy Horse in Paris.

+ The restaurant, the show and the lounge are well organised. The chefs, the staff and the artists work hard and efficient.
- Concerning the show, I have noticed lately a transition from adult cabaret towards a general audience musical.

Famous cabaret show, offers a complete evening and night of entertainment.
We had a great dinner in the restaurant Versailles, very kitch decorations but good food and decent wines. Don't go there for a quiet dinner for 2 though, everybody is cramped on large tables. There is live music and possibilities to dance.
The show was amazing (Flamboyant) with the acrobatic tours, the dancing nice and the singing ok.
The lounge club is a very nice way to finish the evening since there is nothing else to do in the region. Service is quick and friendly, music is not too loud, still possible to have a conversation, and the dance floor was quickly filled with hits from seventies up to today.

Struthof, also known as the Natzweiler-Struthof concentration camp, is a significant historical site as it is the only Nazi concentration camp located on present-day French territory. The original buildings and displays provide a chilling insight into the horror of the Second World War. Visitors are taken back in time to understand what prisoners endured during that dark period. The place has been renovated, but it still retains its historical significance.
The place takes back in the time.
It makes you feel what prisoners have gone through during those time.
Of course the place is renovated and hence, you see new paint and all.
But I guess it is due to the old construction.
It took us approx 2.5 hours to see all.
Personal Guide is available but only in french. However you can get audio guide in almost all European languages and in English as well.

for your 6€ you get an exhibition about different concentration camps with interactive screens in French, and two movies with subtitles mostly French English. In the main area where you buy your tickets all the written text is English German and French this changes instantly in the main museum building where the most information is. barely anything translated to English no mention of an audio guide. the place is impressive tho you can't really see much apart from the watchtowers, fences, a gallow and the direction table. the gas chamber is offsite and free to visit. you can drive up with the car if you dont want to walk, there is a trilingual member of staff to talk to.

I'm don't like this place. How can you like it. There's no tribute or criticism. We can never forget. I am, however, glad that this Struthof exists. My mother once said, there is no understanding of evil like this because to understand it may yield an excuse for evil. If you google Struthof you can find stories that describe the pictures I've posted.
Go to this historic place. Go there. Support the effort to never forget. There is so much more than what i've shared.

The Castle of Fleckenstein is a medieval fortress located on a striking rock formation, offering guided tours and various activities. It's an ideal destination for families, with ample parking and easy access to the welcome center where you can purchase tickets, souvenirs, and enjoy refreshments. Visitors can opt for the kids challenge trail or explore the castle ruins at their own pace. The site is also kid-friendly, providing information brochures in English and German.
Very neat castle with great views. The walk to the castle is rather easy, but walking around the castle would be difficult if you have mobility issues. The cost to get in was only 5 euro and the food at the cafe was great. I highly recommend visiting this castle.
Justin O — Google review
Great 360 views! The castle fortress is in ruins (well kept) but there are some panels explaining life in a castle like this and some information on the history of the Fleckenstein family, who ruled over it some centuries ago. Beware the darkest parts inside and the narrow staircases (use your smartphone's lantern). Good value for money. There's also a kids area - recommended.

Excellent place to visit! Kid and family friendly—this is a place you’ll be sad you missed if you’re visiting the area. There’s ample parking for whatever sized vehicle you’ve got. My minivan had no problems. From there, it’s a short hike to the welcome center—tickets, souvenirs, sitting area, and cafe. Fair priced and quick service! Then, you either go on the kid’s challenge trail OR head directly to the ruins. Visiting the ruins is included in the cost of the kids challenge trail. For my family of 5 (with a 4, 6, and 8 year old), we did the kids challenge trail. It engages the kids as the parents get to soak in the views, and it teaches everyone the history of the area. This ends up taking you on a nature hike thru the woods, and up to the actual ruins. The ruins are amazing—you can feel the history, and are granted some spectacular views. My kids loved it, and my wife and I noted how easy it was to get there, spend a day, and never think twice about much. It’s about an hour and a half from the Kaiserslautern area. The staff speaks German, French, and a fair bit of English. 100% recommend this place!
Will Thompson — Google review

Emma — Google review
What a place. Came here on a Wednesday afternoon with one other adult and my three kids ages 5,3, and 1.5 years. I wore the baby and the other two walked (with some shoulder riding from parking lot for the 3yo). We entered the parking lot at the first entrance, not realizing (or stopping to read the sign) that you can drive all the way to the end of it and be a few minutes walk closer to the trail entrance. Once at the end of the parking lot, or after the sharp turn in the road after the beginning of the lot, you’ll see a trail in the woods that runs parallel to the road (which is at this point restricted to buses or staff only). The trail took us about 10 minutes and has some cool stuff about mining to see along the way. It might have been stroller accessible for an offroading stroller, but we didn’t bring one as there is no way to use it in the castle. Once you get to the information center, you’re in a small little courtyard of sorts, with the ticket and gift shop on the left, a restaurant at the far end, a kids feature on the right (an additional fee that we didn’t purchase), and bathrooms at the entrance on the right. We purchased tickets for us adults as the kids were free (€10 total I believe) and set off to the castle, which took another 5-10 minutes of walking. Once you’re at the castle, there are tons of staircases, both paved and uneven stony ones, in and out of the castle, to explore. It feels like you could get lost in such a good way, with secret staircases and little rooms hidden off the side of halls and stairs. There are fun stories for the kids to follow about someone named Hugo discovering the ruins, and they do a great job with sighs explaining what areas were used for and images showing how it might have been used. The best part of the castle, though, is the top, where it feels like you’re in a castle in the sky. Mind blowing to thing of how they made this castle so long ago, so high on this rock formation. The views are spectacular, even if all you see is forest and other rock formations. There are apparently a few other castles in the area, presumably on a hiking route, but we didn’t have enough time or energy to continue explaining. After the castle, we had ice cream at the cafe and bought toys for the kids at the store (I was pleasantly surprised at the prices). Most of the food was pre prepared quiches and wurst and whatnot which we didn’t want. Overall, this was an amazing afternoon trip that took about 2-3 hours total, for us with about 20 minutes of walking in shade on a forest path with tons of stair climbing once in the castle, for a very reasonable price for adults.

Great trip! And the he mechanics of the canon still work. Funny how the turtle like 80T turret could be handled by a single man. Only German or French guides are available at the weekend. Question: what was the abandoned buildings next to this bunker, on the other side of the river, were build for?
Weiqiang Chen — Google review

The place and the guided tour is extremely interesting - at least for adults and older children / adolescents.
Unfortunately, we were not very lucky with
our tour. They had accepted so many people for the same slot, that two groups had to be created (each around 30 people!). The second group - ours - was always a bit behind. Moreover, we had to wait for late arrivals. So we lost at least 15min at the beginning and were even more delayed during the tour. So we were not able to see the museum (which is only accessible with a guide) and the generator room - because the next tour started 2h after ours should have started :-/
Also, either due to the guide or to the size of the group the tour was not really made kids younger than ~9 years.

Awesome Maginot Line fortification. 8 Euro for adults, 5 for kids over 5. After the first point of interest you head down into the old tunnels. A bit spooky, but really great to see. You can walk underground for over 1 KM to see an old turret. Other interesting points like the kitchens and command center along the way.
L S — Google review
A must do experience if you get to the Nord of Alsace.
The tour is extremely long, more than 1 hour and you get to know the story of the Maginot bunker, how the men lived there.
It is very cold inside so make sure to get warm clothes.

Nice place, definitely worth to visit. But be careful, possible to visit only with a tour at exact times (stays on the site). Plan your visit 😉

It is definitely worth a visit. The entire fortification and the engineering behind ist are truly impressive. You get a picture on how the soldiers in the fort lived, how the chain of command worked and how the entire line of defense was organized. About the end you get to see first hand how a combat tower gets lifted, rotates and how it gets charged with munition.
The entire tour takes around 2 hours and it's guided, so keep in mind that the entrance takes place only at specific hours.
One more thing: the temperature inside is only 13 Celsius, so wearing a jacket is strongly recommended

My son is very interested in anything to do with history, especially the period around the second world War, therefore we decided to visit this maginot line fortification. It was beyond our expectations. When you arrive there it looks understated and small, but once you enter it is this huge network of underground facilities. A visit is only possible by guided tour which we did in German. The guide was very knowledgeable. Thank you for a great experience.

Extremely interesting historically, they only do French and German speaking tours. There are some signs and you understand most of it. The turret still go up and down and around. The total complex is huge.

First, if you follow the GPS it will make you pass in the forest, very small road and hard to drive.a lot of holes. If I have one advice try to take the highway even if u will pay. But its worth it to do, everybody is nice, its very well kept and fun fact there was no fight in this bunker. A big part of the visit its underground. You can see how they use to live.

I visited spontaneously Fort Mutzig and surprisingly I was able to join a guided tour. you have to experience the place personally. no pictures or video can leave such a deep impression as the real thing. I was also lucky that a very nice lady with fantastic knowledge easily gave a lot of background information in three languages.
Peter Warden — Google review
There wasn't an English speaking tour guide available, but they did offer a very good tour aid written in English, and we managed to join a French Tour that had only just started. The areas for exhibit are in remarkable good condition.
BEWARE: the very first steep tunnel you need to take can be VERY SLIPPERY! The tour guide told us this, but without my husband to translate, I would have bowled over the rest of our group behind me. There are plain bricks to either side of the smooth pavers in the middle of the path (this makes sense when you see it), WALK ON THE PLAIN BRICKS! Future slanted tunnels were far less likely to be so treacherous, but it's sound advice for the whole thing as the tunnels often have water leaking in, and we went on a dry, sunny day.
TAKE A SWEATER! It can be quite cold in the tunnels, you'll be going on a subterranean tour! Only a sweater, though, as there is plenty of walking, and as you make your way back towards the exit, you begin to feel quite warm.
DO NOT WANDER OFF! Only 10% of the tunnels have been converted to a public exhibit. The remaining 90% belongs to the ACTIVE MILITARY INSTALLATION on the site! I didn't test those boundaries, but it probably doesn't end well should you find your way to someone working there.
Overall, it's an amazing view of turn of the century innovation. No bunkers had been built like this, and these were the first to employ electricity allowing many capabilities never before dreamed of in the sort.
Maggie Teerath — Google review
These fortifications are a brilliant example of German ingenuity. Places at a very strategic position,. The impenetrable bunkers in the Bas-Rhin department of France were built by Germany at the end of the 19th century to defend Strasbourg. The French now keep this heritage in pristine condition and are more than willing tot explain everything,
Rob van Hees — Google review
Absolutely beautiful visit, it is a great time passer on a very hot day since most of the visit is underground. Count at least 2h, very nice guides explaining the history, and one of the largest underground complex you can actually visit. Obviously the bunkers have been stripped of most of the hardware and it is ww1 technically so not as interesting as a ww2 bunker, but i would definitely recommend a visit if you are into this kind of place.
You can also walk around unattended at your own pace, and Dogs are allowed!
Eduard Pristavu (Tyson-Eddy) — Google review
Our trip to this fortress was a real surprise for the entire family. On beforehand we had no real expectations but the visit was well worth it.
Parking space was plentiful and staff behind the counter was friendly and helpful. We did the full round trip in the part of the fortress that is open for the public. It took indeed around 1.5 hours as the lady at the desk already told us. Also a good tip from here was to take a sweater or jacket with you inside the fortress because it can be very cold inside. We received a printed guide in English because all written information in the fortress is in french.
We really liked to see the living accommodations of the soldiers and the working scale models of the big guns defending the fortress. The kids were also impressed by the old guns they could touch. All in all well worth a visit!
Stephan van der Mel — Google review
Impressively large. Almost the entire tour takes place underground, so bring a shirt to keep warm. The long tunnels are a sight to behold.
Laurids Binderup — Google review
This state-of-the-art subterranean fortress was a marvel of 1890s engineering: it had electricity, recycled water supplies, generators, powered ventilation, supplies for three months for 7000 troops, and even prototype tanks.
By the time WWI broke out, it was technologically redundant, and was never defended in battle.
It's a fascinating location, well-worth visiting. Check the website for information beforehand, as the site is usually only accessible with a volunteer guide.

Un thème de société, plus qu'il n'y paraît au premier abord.

Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg is a 12th-century mountain fortress that has been restored with an artillery platform, medieval garden and royal rooms. The ruins of this beautiful castle were gifted to the German emperor Wilhelm II in 1901 by the town of Selestat. Visitors should reserve tickets online in advance as picnics are not allowed inside and there is only a small cafeteria available. The tour includes many stairs distributed across different levels but offers breathtaking views.
Castliest of the castles. Really well laid out tour of the chateau with some amazing views as well. Though they warn of a lot of steps, they come in smallish chunks as you tour different levels, so don't let the stairs count scare you off.

This is a medieval castle which has a unique history where the ownership has changed between Germany and France. You get to see a lot of rooms on your visit and spectacular scenery of the surrounding hills. Prepare to climb lots of steps. I liked seeing the stained glass windows. There's information cards in each of the rooms. Unfortunately there were no audio guides left on the day we visited, which was a bank holiday weekend. I would advise to get there early because the parking is on street and limited. You might end up walking far to reach the castle. But it's certainly worth a visit.

No handicap access. Must be able to walk up and down hills and steps. No elevator access. Other than that, it's a great place to visit!! We had a beautiful day, 19C degrees and blue skies. The castle/fortress is beautiful and well described by the audio guide. It took us about 2 hours to go through. Don't skip the gift shop! It has unique gifts and we received a coupon for 2 drinks & pastries when we spent over 100€. Look at the photos to understand the beautiful and all these walls contain. Doors open at 9:15am and close at 6om.

Beautiful site. Impressive to see. I recommend to do the tour, this is nice to see and not too long. For me the most impressive site in the surroundings. Located in a green environment with some nice roads leading towards it.

Overpriced for its worth. Not sure why everyone says it's worth a visit. You can get the best views overlooking the city without even entering the castle. The castle overall was just okay. Keep in mind that there is no open area on top for photos. You can only take photos from the windows.
There is a small cafe on the side. A good plan would be to drive up top and just relax at the cafe and enjoy the views.
Parking: Lots and lots of parking spots along the mountain. We were unsure and parked quite a bit far away when we saw a parking spot. But there were many more that we saw while we walked up.

Beautiful castle with long history. Better to reserve tickets online in advance. Rather cold inside, so don't forget to wear smth warm. Picnics are forbidden inside and only small cafeteria is available. Near 2 hours needed for full visit. Enjoy 😉

This is very well preserved place. I spent around 2 hours, many sitting areas for quick rest in between rooms/ stops. Many beautiful place for photo taking, or just enjoy the architecture of the building.
Free parking is available at roadside; toilet is clean and available near entrance.

A beautiful castle, allows access with the car and you can enter it's yard for free, but of you want to go up the castle, you'd have to get a ticket and go up 300 stairs.
We skipped the stairs as we were with a baby, but we didn't regret it - the view is breathtaking and the castle itself leaves you in awe.
I was surprised we could access all the way into the castle with our baby stroller, we don't really feel comfortable with the baby carrier, so if you're looking for a castle that's easily accessible, this is a great place to visit.
Also, there's a small café and gift shop before going up the castle and they have a great coffee with whipped cream on top.
We highly recommend this one!

A beautiful and interesting place to visit for both children and adults. Fantastic views to enjoy. There are a library and a restaurant available. Car park is free of charge, many car parking spaces available along the road but can be challenging to find a slot during the busy times. We loved the place. Thank you!

Very good castle on the great view spot. Unfortunately, not too many decorations were saved inside the castle.
Also, due to many narrow paths inside and many people be prepared to wait for some time to walk around. Maybe letting people inside by small groups would solve the issue of chaotic movement

Up on the heights of Orschwiller, the outline of this imposing building can be seen from far across the plain. Visitors can't come to Alsace without paying a visit to one of its most popular monuments, which offers an outstanding view and in clear weather you can sometimes see the Alps.
When visitors enter the Castle of Haut-Kœnigsbourg through its main gate, they embark on a journey back into the Middle Ages... Its courtyard, forge, mill, spiral staircases, drawbridges, arms room, keep and canons are constant reminders of the original purpose of this mountaintop fortress.
Built in the 12th century, over the years it belonged to a series of illustrious owners. It was Emperor William II who decided to restore it.
It was used as a film location for the film "La Grande Illusion", but also "Les aventures d'Arsène Lupin" by Jacques Becker, not to mention a number of scenes from the film "Agent trouble" by Jean-Pierre Mocky.
Its unique atmosphere has fascinated many artists. Come along and discover the charm of this amazing Alsatian site for yourself...
Nearby, visitors can also visit the Volerie des Aigles (Eagle Park) and the Montagne des Singes (Monkey Mountain).

The castle is beautiful. It is well kept and maintained. There are a lot of interesting rooms to explore (kitchen, weapons, cannons, dining, .. ). The architecture is impressive and the view is great (make sure to come on a clear day). You can park for free near the entrance. A ticket costs 9€ per adult and 5€ for children above 6.

A beautiful place mostly from the outside. The inside is also interesting but can be visited in an hour. The views of the top towers are amazing though and certainly are worth checking out. There are many staircases so not a very easy to visit castle for older people or people with disabilities. And it's not expensive (7 euros for students.) Enjoy!

Very cool castle but VERY crowded. Don’t be afraid to drive closer to the front to find parking. Everyone followed each other and parked way down the mountain but if you drive up closer to the entrance you’ll likely find a bunch of empty spots and won’t have to walk as far.
Lots of history to read as you walk through. Beautiful views.

A wonderful monument you must visit during your stay in Alsace!
It is one of the most complex castles ever rebuilt in the area and has the best panoramic views on the region below.
The castle offers tours (included in your entry ticket) and we had a great time with our tour guide Jacques K. Very interesting person with so many interesting facts to talk about the castle!

Quite the nice visit here. We came on a chilly but sunny Sunday, and we loved discovering the castle and the view from there.
Nice easy explanations along the way; it's made for kids, but in such a good way that it's really comprehensive and understandable for all.
We didn't feel the need for the audioguide.
Entrance was 7e, as a small part of the tower was not accessible when we visited.
You can spend 1h30 inside easily, less if you rush a bit.

No wait because we arrived on time in the morning (9:20, opened at 9:30), else I'd add some time waiting to get a ticket and also slower visit as it'll be more crowded inside.

Great castle to visit!
Easy to access (nice road leading up there!) and to park but you might have to walk a little bit until the entrance.
The castle was beautifully renovated, the pink stones are very authentic and original. The visit is well organised, where you learn about the various historic periods. Even with foggy weather, you'll enjoy a fantastic view.
Audioguides are available for 4.5€, but you also can opt for a free booklet which is also giving the necessary info along with the signs.
Be aware, during week days they are closing entrance from 12:00 until 13:15

Amazing castle atop of a mountain with great views. Kaiser Wilhelm II built on top of the older castle from 1900 to 1908. Nestled in the clouds and when it clears, views to the black forest. Nice tea room and restaurant.
Forest walk with guides through a reservation home to around 200 free-roaming barbary macaques.
An enjoyable 90 minutes spent wandering through the forest at the Montagne des Singes.
The monkeys all looked well cared for and they seemed to be as curious about us as we were about them!
A perfect place for families or budding photographers - the monkeys were great subjects for photos as they loved to pose!
The park has a large car park, snack bar and lots of picnic tables (set away from the monkeys).

Great park with enough space for the monkeys. Having been there for the 3rd time we probably didn't spend as much time there as others would. We spent around 2 hours including a cool drink/ice at the kiosk afterwards.
The only negative thing to say is that during feeding the only spoken language is french (though it is possible to ask questions in English or German after).
However, when you have a child along who not yet speak more than one language it is (for the child) a quite boring experience to just stand there and listen for 10-15 minutes to something which you do not understand.

Monkey Mountain was great! My 8 and 11 year olds enjoyed walking through the monkey area. We saw a few baby monkeys that were the most adorable things ever! The staff walking around was super kind and told us all about the monkeys. After we left the monkeys we spent some time at the playground. There is a fantastic "monkey" play area where the kids can climb through an elevated sort of ropes course and then other activities to simulate being a monkey.

I was expecting more monkeys to see and unfortunately there weren't many..
They said that we would eat the monkeys... It turned out that they only feed them..
The big problem is that things are told about the monkeys and not in English.. Or at least someone will translate from French... or a machine that will translate.. Unfortunately we didn't really enjoy it..

Quite cool show, with some birds i haven’t seen outside of a zoo. Explanations of the show were French only though, and even with French knowledge not always easy to follow.
Didn’t like the cages, they seemed very small. Several birds were outside the cage but attached with a leash. It’s probably difficult to have a cage big enough for a bird of prey, but I’m sure it could be better.

I was there in July 2021. Although it was Covid's time, we organized a three-week tour of various beautiful places in Italy, Switzerland and France. Almost a year has passed since then, but our visit in Chateau de Kintzheim & The Eagle Park will remain for us as one of the most vivid, colourful and exciting experiences. And the show is wonderful.

We spent a day at this park dedicated to storks! The place is pretty nice with decent rides (don't expect Europa park level entertainment). Free parking on spot and not very expensive entrance. A little to do for every age! The circus is mediocre with some of the acts done by amateurs but overall, you don't expect cirque du soleil when paying 17€. The connections between tracks are well marked and signposted, and the trains are generally accessible. There are tables and chargers, shops of all kinds and fast food.
The 3 stars comes from the fact that, at night they close the station, it is filled with drunk beggars (this is the fault of security, but above all of the city itself).
It is the second time that we have to spend the night there, and it is impossible, we have to walk around the city at dawn.

The Barrage Vauban is a landmark in Strasbourg that is known for its beautiful views of the city and its sculptures. The building contains a variety of artwork and statues, as well as a viewing terrace on top that offers stunning views of Le Petite France, an attractive part of the city.
This 17th century dam was part of the Strasbourg's defense system. It is 120 meters long and comprises 13 arches. There is a panoramic deck on the roof of the dam that was built in 1950s to offer a high-angle view of the city. Although it’s quite a historical dam, defense system built in the 17th century, and a short walk from the busier La Petit France, this area is a bit quieter and perfect for a stroll or sitting down on the benches and enjoying the serenity surrounding this area. There are several cafes and restaurants nearby as well. You could also take the boat rides along the river Ill (if you had the time) that goes around this area.

Barrage Vauban in Strasbourg (France) is an amazing site to explore European history from the 12th-15th century, mesmerizing old style designed homes, enjoying the markets full of souvenirs and taste the food from across the World. Had a great time during our visit here. There is also a big Cathedral here, one of the highest in France

Great sights, almost in the heart of Strasbourg. From here you have a great view of the city and the water canals. It's also an important link across the river. Entrance is free of charge.
Petite France, a bustling tourist center in the city, is renowned for its well-preserved half-timbered homes like the Tanners' House that was constructed in 1572. The area's cobblestone streets and canals add to its charm. Barrage Vauban, a covered bridge and dam from the 17th century, has a terrace which offers breathtaking views of the surroundings.
The Cathedral of Strasbourg is a beautiful, gothic edifice built in 1187 to 1439 with a 16th-century astronomical clock and rose window. It is considered the world's tallest building from 1647 to 1874 and still the sixth tallest church today. The walls of the cathedral keep a 1000-year history of luck and disappointment, victorious victories and unforgivable defeats.
What a wonderful cathedral!! The clock inside is really neat. I loved the nativity scenes and I'm so glad they were still up when we went in January. We climbed up the tower, which was a highlight of our entire vacation!

This is a must see location if you are within 100 miles. Strasbourg the old city is just incredible for old buildings and interesting sites. The Cathedral is very impressive from the outside and the inside is just Great. The altar and the backdrop are very well done. The stained glass is amazing as well. I walked to the top of the Cathedral and highly recommend doing this if you can. Great views and interesting views of the Cathedral as you climb.

Very impressive building! Inside pretty dark and some part is still in renovation. The clock on the right side worth to see. I enjoyed visiting it. The most spectacular was illumination show, special lights and music at night. Wow!

Very impressive cathedral. Specially the stunning astronomical clock which is a master piece of engineering and is a must see if visiting.cathedral is very big. Inside always prayers are going on.
recommend to visit at night so you can see the most spectacular music and light show projected onto the exterior of the cathedral.
Infront of cathedral many shop having so many instruments and also live paintings will be going on.

Exceptional views, beautiful architecture, in my eyes it is a must to visit during your stay in Strasbourg. Ticket is absolutely worth it, considering the effort to climb the way up. Inside the cathedral entry is free. The size, area, mosaics made me deeply think how much time and effort it took to create and build this miracle. Miraculous❤️..

Absolutely beautiful! There is an amazing clock in the back right corner that does a little something every 15 minutes. It’s not amazing but it’s cute and fun to see if you’re around. The gift shop was great and some good finds for good prices. The nativity scene inside was absolutely gorgeous!

This was a beautiful cathedral in a beautiful city. Had such a great time. There is a little train right outside that you can take for 8 euro that will give you a tour of the petite France area.

Came over from offenburg Germany. It was a short drive. It was on a French holiday so I think it was extra busy. The cathedral was very pretty. You could walk around on your own. There was no English translations quite. If you get an app on your phone you can just shine it on the signs and it'll read it in English for you. It was a recording picking on every now and then to ask us to shush. Although I don't think we were being loud, the crowd was in the church at that time.

Behold the awe-inspiring Strasbourg Cathedral 🏰✨ A masterpiece of Gothic architecture, this iconic symbol in France stands tall with centuries of history. From its intricate facade to the panoramic views from the tower, every detail whispers tales of resilience and grandeur.

I have seen many Gothic cathedrals. But I was amazed by the beauty and grandeur of Strasbourg Cathedral. Its size is impressive, its stained glass windows lead to ecstasy. This is a masterpiece of medieval Gothic architecture.

I was surprised to discover that this is also a beautiful cathedral. It is not that far from the one in Paris. The line to get in (on the left of the front side) is for free but can get very long. The line for going up to the tower (on the right side) has a cost. Definitely recommended!

Fantastic place, great both inside and outside. Definitely one of the most beautiful cathedral where I've been. Stunning view when you see it between narrow streets.
Acoustics inside also very nice.
Definitely worth to visit.

Very impressive cathedral. It is breathtaking to look up and realize how small we are. It is a very historical cathedral and 142 m high. It is for free to go up the stairs. The view has to be amazing. Unfortunately the queue on weekends especially sundays is too long. But the city has a very nice atmosphere. I liked and enjoyed it a lot.
Sinja Merkel — Google review
The cathedral is breathtaking from every angle, with stained glass, spires, and intricate designs living every inch of the building. You won’t find yourself bored when visiting here. I waited for maybe a minute to get inside and did not have to pay. Niece inside you are free to walk around within the designated areas. If you are feeling in the mood, you can buy and light a candle in the cathedral. There is also two gift shops!

Absolutely beautiful but at the same time has to make you question the money and power of the church. It is a beautiful sight but the people could benefit in so many more ways than the enormous expense building.

Very impressive cathedral especially the stunning astronomical clock which is a master piece of engineering and is a must see if visiting. I highly recommend visiting again at night so you can see the most spectacular music and light show projected onto the exterior of the cathedral.

A wonderful cathedral, truly a work of art in every way. Entrance is free into the church, but a ticket of 8.5 euro to take the stairs up - which you must do, the views are spectacular {approx 300 steps up and 300 down, on a spiral staircase}. The clock at the back is a marvel to behold, from the 16th century. The church area is peaceful, take some time to sit and reflect no matter your religion.

The Cathédrale Notre Dame of Strasbourg is a magnificent cathedral in Strasbourg. It's tall and carries rich architectural heritage of historic France. The outside is full of intricate sculptures and details. Inside, colorful stained glass windows light up the place when the sun is out. You can climb up to the top for amazing views of the city and the ticket costs €8. It's a must-visit if you're in Strasbourg.

Ideal Christmas location. Big crowds, hard to park in the city centre, many streets are closed by police.
Definitely worth visiting and enjoying the view.

Today is a sunny day and it’s a nice opportunity to take photos of The Cathedral Notre Dame de Strasbourg. No fee to enter the Cathedral, only security check on bags.
It’s a Saturday and there were many people around the square. Part of the Cathedral is under renovation, yet we still managed to see the major parts of the building.
A historical building with impressive architecture.
A local friend gave us some tips. The best time To go up to the top of the cathedral is around lunch time. Sensible and perfect idea 👍🏻

Wasn’t a huge fan of Strasbourg overall, but the cathedral is absolutely worthy of the trip; it is imposingly beautiful inside and out. You can see the cathedral from just about anywhere in the city and it’s still difficult to fathom the size of it once you’re upon it. It was stunning.

Beautiful Historic Monument. Probably one of the most beautiful religious cathedral from France.
Specific times to get in
The astronomical clock is impressive and has so many resources and surprises.
The man speaking once in a while on the microphone to ask people to turn the volume down is the one making most of the noise.
Go visit this landmark.

Absolutely amazing and beautiful work of art!! Breathtaking views!!! Well worth the price. If you are afraid of heights do not go on the tower. My daughters had no issues.
Chris Underhill — Google review
The most conspicuous building in Strasbourg. It’s full of beauty and historical charm. There are lots things to see - external decorations, climbing to the top to have a great view of the city, internal decorations and carpets. Finally there is the Astronomical clock inside. The history of the cathedral reflects the history of the city which is breathtaking. In front of the church you can find lots of Noel markets in the holiday season in winter.
This museum is dedicated to the history and culture of Alsace, a region in eastern France. It contains more than 5,000 artifacts and artworks from throughout the region's pre-industrial and early industrial history. Some highlights include displays on Alsatian art, folklore, and rural life, as well as reconstructions of homes and stores from the pre-industrial era.
It's a must visit if you have a couple of hours in Strasbourg. Very well setup museum with good explanation (remember to ask for the audio guide at the ticket desk since they don't hand it out as default).
Explains the history, the architecture, the dress code, the furniture, the stains used in the furniture, the sections of a typical house. The section on religion and especially the part on the exhibition in Nancy is boring

While in Strasbourg I saw this museum that explains the life of alsatians from the past and present. As a French I discovered that I knew almost nothing about them. It was very interesting! Also the museum was well made with some representation of old house and clothes. The staff who welcomed us was so friendly too. Think it’s a nice museum if you want to learn more about the culture of this part of France.

Such an interesting collection of exhibits in a beautifully restored building. The artifacts and scenes of daily life that have been reconstructed are well done and help to show what life was like in the area hundreds of years ago.
The museum is right next to the river and only a few minutes walk from the other sites in old town. We arrived without tickets on a weekend and had no problem getting in immediately.

Visited on the 18th Nov 2021, cold grey afternoon in Strasbourg. Small but compact museum in a traditional Alsatian house with a courtyard.
Its the information about Christmas, Hans Trapp, St Nicholas, Advent calendars that kept me amused.
Great place to get lost in the past times of Alsace.
Murali Krishna Sayana — Google review
Very interesting museum with lots of artifacts providing a vivid glimpse of life in older Alsace. A slight downside was the shortage of audio guides when we arrived. This limited the information to mostly French and German but still provided an interesting experience. Maybe get there early for a guide in English.

Cosy, but rather standard small museum. Good collection, navigation, not overcrowded.
If you are museum fun advise to buy a day ticket and visit half a dozen of nearby museums (mostly near the Cathedral).
Natalia Ischenko — Google review
Very nice museum. Not too crowded during the holidays. There are no elevators and you go up 2 floors. They give a great overview of the Alsace region, culture and people. The museum is mostly trilingual with it's signage in French, English and German. There was no option to buy tickets online.
Arin Canbolat — Google review
Great museum, also interesting for children (my 5 year old really enjoyed the "Easter egg hunt" at the museum). It's great to see an old Strasbourg building from the inside and get an appreciation of how the rooms were arranged. I thought the first half of the museum was better than the second half. The second half had perhaps too much about that exhibition in Nancy. It was interesting that part of it was a "museum about a museum" (as the museum was already set up in 1906). Definitely worth a visit, also with children!

I went on the first Sunday of the month (which made it free) and I found it interesting, but had I paid to get in I don’t feel it would have been a good use of money. There is lots of information on how people in the city used to live with 26 set areas you can walk through. If you like very educational museums this may be for you.

Very informative museum by the banks of the river Ill about everything of importance in Alsatian history. Each room is dedicated to a different facet of Alsatian home and business life. It also includes good information about the various religious communities and practices present in Alsace for centuries, first Christianity and Judaism, and then later the split of Christianity into Catholic, Protestant, and Lutheran factions, with Strasbourg also being a center of the Reformation. The museum is spread out over three old houses and many storeys with balconies and courtyards. It was a pleasure to explore it all.

It's a great museum to get an idea of how the Alsatians were living before. It reminded me of the life that my grandmother was living in Romania. Similar wooden houses, tools. The entrance is 7.50 EUR. If you visit other museums you pay less.

Strasbourg's Parc de l'Orangerie is a large and well-maintained park that is one of the city's most popular attractions. It features flower-lined gardens, a boating lake, playgrounds for children, and various other attractions. It is also home to monuments and sculptures, including the Europe Parliament building.

Lovely park near the city center and next to the European Parliament.

You can also find a café and a bowling alley right next to the car park.

Beautiful space to roam and play with kids. We came here on the hottest day of the summer (100 degrees F* on a June Sunday) and still enjoyed ourselves. We went to the pond, mechanic car kids track, the zoo, the fountain by the manor, and the playground and were sad to leave. Definitely worth a trip here if you’re in the area! Enjoy the storks, as the park is a reservation for them.

One of the most magnificent parks that I have ever been too, if not THE most. The park itself is massive and has so much to offer. Lots of places to picnic, playgrounds, ponds and areas to boat. The flower gardens were my favorite and the storks of course! This is a must if you’re in the area. My only advice is to wear shoes/clothes you feel comfortable getting dirty because the paths aren’t paved, so it can get very dusty especially if there is a bit of wind.
This place indeed has good discounts on all the products. You can take your children with you .there is a small park where children can play. You will find almost all branded shops.

Honest review as usual. The outlet is big however there are no interesting above average (luxurious) stores. Would not recommend it for shopping. It is clean though. Plenty of people on the weekend.
Prague Honest Guide - Artemii — Google review
I was not impresed by the shops this outlet has, they were not for my taste. I did like some shops but most of them were a bit too expensive for an outlet... I visited during the Christmas Holidays, so this may be the reason, but the view of the outlet was quite nice and beautiful decorated with a lot of lights.
M A — Google review
A really nice place to go shopping. Not too crowded and not all but the few stores I saw had very good prices compared to the places I usually buy them e.g. the body shop. A mask that costs 20 euros normally was for 14 euros only, since I buy body shop products regularly, this is my new go to place!
It is expensive in some places for instance we got one small coffee and hot chocolate and payed 10 euros but I believe that it’s implied that if we go there it’s because we want high end brands and there’s only so much discount we can expect from brands that are already very expensive!

One of the best places to shop in Alsace if you're looking for discount prices and great quality. The choice of shops is large, and the place is modern, very clean, and welcoming. Unlike other outlets, shopping can be easily done on foot - a real plus. Free parking and free Wi-Fi available to all customers!

There was a very weird and very strong smell throughout the complex. This is strange, as the site is open air and the smell clung to our clothes, even after leaving.
We Arrived at 6:15pm and many stores had closed an hour early. It was definitely disappointing and we wouldn’t try to revisit.
The site looked nice though and had a good selection of stores.

Unfortunately, I found the prices to be more main shop, rather than outlet: in full blown Sale season I could easily find the same prices online for the items of interest which begs the question - why even bother to waste fuel and drive there? Very few entrntaining coffee / restaurations spots, nor activities...

Schloss Favorite is a stunning summer palace and formal garden from the 1700s, boasting ornate baroque interiors and an extensive collection of porcelain. The autumn landscape around the palace is particularly beautiful, with the gardens showcasing a variety of trees labeled for easy recognition. Visitors can take a guided tour of the restored interior rooms, though non-German speakers may find it less friendly without an audio guide. However, investment in such a guide would be a generous gesture to foreign visitors in the future.
Really nice palace, You can imagine the parade held in its courtyard, the nobles walking around the garden, the trees green and the birds chirping. It has a very peaceful environment. It is also a very historical mansion, very well preserved. You can even go on the weekend to get some air.

Must go definitely. The landscape in autumn is beautiful. The garden surrounding the schloss exhibits the most beautiful trees which have type signs on them for recognition. Visit also the schloss inside. The rooms are remarkably restored. There is a guided tour in the interior of the rooms. However I would say not friendly to non German speaking visitors. We were given one leaflet of information but surely not as informative as the lady who was the guide. We had to ask at least to name the rooms we are visiting so we could identify in the leaflet. I would propose the investment in an audio guide for the future, as a generous and friendly gesture to foreign visitors.
