Just loved it so amazing so much snow but roads were clear.

Friendly, helpful folks. The shop and restaurant are not so expensive. The food is good. A hike from this center is possible, but don't go alone, beware of "rotten snow" in midsummer and bring sunglasses with you.
Frank Groeneveld — Google review
Several monuments outside and a great shop inside. You can have your post cards stamped from the Arctic Circle and mail them off from there. Much better than the billboard marking the Arctic Circle in Sweden.
Reagan in Elsewhere — Google review
Nice to see the Arctic circle markers from different years, but the centre itself is mainly just a shop selling tourist items. Not much actual information anywhere. Largeish cafe served hot meals but we didn't go in. Worth a stop but only for 20 minutes or so. You can post a postcard and they will put a special Arctic circle stamp on it which is nice.
Eve Talling-Bell — Google review
Fantastic place! Souvenirs are a bit over commercialized … lots of plastic articles, even the clothing. But nature around is a breathtaker, good for some pictures and a quick hike. Stop here if you are in the area!
Jan C Schulze — Google review
Just a restaurant and comfort centre with some interesting maps but nonetheless a welcome stop for weary travellers.

Wow, it was so cool to visit the Artic Circle Centre. Unfortunately I arrived when the souvenir shop already had closed for the day (5pm)… still impressive to just look around, surrounded by nature and all the mountains.

The Arctic Circle Centre is characterised by its unique architecture that has been adapted to the natural surroundings. The Arctic Circle is marked all the way through the building. The Centre is open for the season from May 1 til Septmeber 10.

A nice pit stop along the highway to Bodø. It was 11:30am and the restaurant wasn’t open and the only drink available was water. Tourism is up after Covid - touristy places need to adapt accordingly
Stephen Michalchuk — Google review
It was fine. Very crowded and has more of a focus on the gift and curio store than on any information about the area or history of the place. Interesting to cross the artic circle. If you feel like some reindeer meat, then the restaurant has some reindeer dishes , we skipped it. Not particularly well kept, but the staff were pleasant enough.

Whilst we are so glad we came here, I can’t deny that we weren’t a little disappointed.
✅ there is lots of parking and there are lots of walks to go on in the vicinity. You can ask the cashiers to play the movie in your native language.
❌ The restaurant closed early with no sign to reflect this, it was just a big shop selling magnets and hats and such, and the ‘movie’ ended up making us laugh by how bad it was. The visuals were very low budget and, whilst we were hoping for an informative video on the Arctic circle and its origins, we were met with a primary school level explanation which was quite repetitive.

Gift shop at the arctic circle crossing. Generic memorabilia. Most are cheap stuff made in china with Norwegian prices. They do have a mail post with a nice arctic circle stamp which is a innice touch. The toilets were all out due to a plumbing issues. The building has a big sign on its roof with the coordinates to take a photo in front of. There is a cafeteria but close pretty early. Plenty of parking in front and an overnight parking to the side.
Piotrek Lewandowski — Google review
Stopped with the intention of having lunch etc but due to a problem all toilets and cafe services were shut. Probably not their fault but as a visitor, not what you wanted to see. The "shop" was full of trinkets and probably targeted at children. Outside was nice although there were several drones in the air despite this being a restricted zone.
Stephen Mudge — Google review
Got to be done, reindeer burger and coffee at the Arctic Circle. The visitor centre boasts a well stocked souvenir shop where we were served by a very friendly senorita, gracias! Short film show which was very informative and a few intresting sculptures/monuments scattered around the exterior made for a worthwhile visit, along with Rudolf in a bun of course . . . .
Gareth Parry — Google review
Nice souvenier shop and a really good bistro. I had the reindeer burger, it was awesome. The lady at the Arctic Bistro was super nice. Outside you find the Arctic Circle monument along with a view other things to see. No problem with parking space, but I arrived with a motorcycle. Free toilets.

Cool place to visit. The weather was not great, so we didn't explore much. I'd like to visit again when the weather is better.
Silvermuseet, located in Arjeplog, is a captivating museum housed in a former nomad school. It boasts an extensive collection of Sami silver objects, including belt buckles, spoons, goblets, and collars with cultural significance. Visitors can also admire unique items such as the dassko bag for silver spoons and ancient skis worn by Sami hunters.
Absolutely amazing museum where you can learn about life in Arjeplog in the past, the cool sámi people, the nature and surroundings and the impressive doctor who worked in the area for decades and later established this museum after his retirement. Through a picture slideshow and rooms decorated as in the past, you could get a feeling how people actually lived. Also the museum staff were very friendly and shared their stories and experiences. Would highly recommend a visit! I was very pleased with mine. Thank you for having me!
Uki Bear — Google review
Excellent place, lots of wonderful things to look at. Well explained! Super!
Jason Mark Atkin — Google review
Outstanding cultural historical museum featuring the Sami way of life and art forms. The museum shop is excellent and features a very interesting and rich book section. There was a separate exhibition of heads of famous people made in felt, a local technique also used to produce boots. The museum is very well curated and we consider a visit a must if you are in the region.
Sebastian Reiz — Google review
One of the best museums I've seen so far in Sweden. A lot of explanations in English about local life. Don't miss the slideshow...and coffee!
Agnieszka Wilkon — Google review
Nice little museum with friendly staff. Entrance under age of 18 is free and for adults 80SEK.
Exhibition showed how sami people lived, hunted etc you can see their silver accessories and some prehistoric tools.
One bad thing with this museum was that at least half of the exhibition was only in Swedish and not in English, so a bit hard to understand the history and context overall.
Indrek Kiis — Google review
The museum shows local history in different facets. The life of the Sámi, their jewelry and utensils are shown exemplarily. But also something about the founder of the museum, the doctor Einar Wallquist, whose collection was the starting point. The surprisingly large first floor is unexpectedly modern in design.
The museum must of course try the impossible balancing act of combining the various exhibits into a whole exhibition. With some topics this succeeds excellently, with others the visitor can at least get a fragmentary impression of another time and culture.
Andro Meda — Google review
Very nice museum, good quality of exhibition, very friendly and informative staff. If you like Skansen you will love this one. They serve coffee too.

A good and interesting museum that has a seriously professional approach of both history and present day life in arjeplog. Helpful staff, nice little Shop and combined with the tourist office that houses in the same building an absolute must-see place on this town.
It has artifacts that go way, way back and often exhibitions of present, local artists aswell. I have been her dozens of times and never get bored.
Very nice place with an interesting backstory and a beautiful landscape. I especially enjoyed walking down all the wooden bridges. It has the feeling of an adventure park combined with a history lesson. Would recommend. Oh and the cafe Is decent as well

This is an absolutely wonderful place to take a long walk in; if you're nearby do plan a visit to the small Ragunda municipality to visit this gem! There are also trails through the nature reseevoir adjacent to the Dead Fall. The little track to the cave was closed.
Shantis Tae — Google review
Nice walking path across the dry rapids. The path of the waterfall was changed by a snafued engineering endeavor in 1796 - the lake above the fall was drained in 4 hours, 1 billion cubic meters flushed the valley below in a tsunami fashion. Incredibly noone was killed since all billages downstream were siuated at higher altitudes and the catastrophe took place in the middle of the night. However, many people died when the newly created riverbanks caved in afterwards.
Anders Trewe — Google review
Amazing how a human mistake can alter Nature so radically. A river with a majestic, roaring waterfall vanishes, never to be seen again. Great stop. Good cafe and excellent service. Just by the main road, well worth the stop. Interesting!!!

Very nice place to explore the dead waterfall and it's history.
We definitely recommend to follow the nature trail (2,3 km) which is a nice walk with beautiful scenery and informative facts about local animals and trees.
Also the restaurant is recommended for good cakes and a very good coffee.
Vast suspension bridge over the Gulf of Bothnia, with a popular adjoining picnic area & viewpoint.
Beautiful bridge that shortens your trip considerably traveling north or south on the E4 along the sea of Bothnia. What you gain in time you should really spend at the northern fundament of the bridge where you can admire its construction as well as the estuary of the Ångerman river.
Sebastian Reiz — Google review
It's a beautiful bridge and even though you can't walk on the bridge there is a mountain/hill that you can drive up on and just sit, take pictures and rest.
Sandra — Google review
Beautiful bridge, even more at sunset.
Paul — Google review
We had some time left on that day and checked out this bridge. And it was more impressive than we thought.
Of course the Golden Gate Bridge comes right to mind. It looks the part when you stand on the hill on the northern end. But unlike the Golden Gate this one wasn't half covered in fog when we visited. It almost has the same length as the counterpart, but this one here was built not long ago: back in 1997.
It was a nice early evening and the views very nice. You can park right at the end of the bridge. Lots of parking space available. Restaurants, shops and a Hotel are located here, as well as some bathrooms.
If you bring a bit of time you can take a seat at one of the picknick tables with spectacular views over the bridge and water.

Fantastic bridge on the E4 crossing over the river and close to the start of the Hoga Kusten and High Coast Trails, which wind and weave up to the Skuleskogen National Park area.

Horrendous unclear layout, confusing exits and way too widespread. However, almost any shopping need gets satisfied (as long as you can bear with getting lost at times..). And each individual store complies with high standards. So, four stars for its "one-stop-shopping-fulfilment". But once you're out of there you exhale like were you under fire and escaped narrowly...
Charming place.
We stayed in the local community hotel when doing our tour of Sweden for our honeymoon.
We were greeted with a Christmass market which we promptly visited while exploring the town.
As if taken straight from a postcard. Loved it!

Unfortunately, the website's information is a little lacking, as it is not possible to tell if or when the old steam locomotive is running, for example. Now in July, during high season, there was no information on site either. It went quite well for the mother-in-law to drive a walker in the area. Be sure to go down to the harbor as well.

There are no power connections, but I didn't think that was a problem. There is so much to discover here: the troll forest, the harbor, the beach, the mini golf course, etc. We can only recommend the restaurant. We had a delicious meal there.

Perfect for both small, larger and grown up kids. Lovely adventure with a new theme every season. Great scenery and story.
Food, coffee and snacks in the beginning and middle of the track. .

Lovely place for families. Been three times over the past 5 years and my English daughter has enjoyed it aged 5, 6 and 10 - as have the accompanying grown-ups (English and Swedish). It's an engaging adventure trail with acted scenes, characters to talk to and activities to engage with. The story is different each year. The actors are happy to play out their roles in Swedish or English and possibly more, always catering to the children present. It can be a little scary in parts (in a fun way!) but is suitable for young children. You can skip scary bits and the actors are sympathetic. Would definitely recommend.

This was something really different and something to remember. The kids loved it and talked about it the whole day after. Actors are making the entire experience something out of the ordinary.

Fun for kids if you know Swedish kinda lame I couldn't pin here with my bankcard only with cash or a swish app. Lame.
When traveling south from the Arctic Sea we wanted to avoid the E4 route as much as possible and this took us by the small village of Växbo close to the city of Bollnäs in the county of Hälsingland. The Växbo linen weaving mill is located in a modern corrugated building, red as it should be in this part of Sweden, and situated in the middle of the forest, away from the main road. You really need to know that it exists, something that one of our co-travelers did. The workers had left for the day, but we could still enter the production facilities and study the looms, most of which were set up for the next day. The shop offers a very large choice of exclusive linen products that may easily ruin you, if you would like to purchase a complete table set or stuff for you three bath-rooms. I was offered the possibility to buy shirts or a linen suit, but having been the owner of such things in the past, I knew that after having worn linen one morning only, you look as if you had been sleeping in your clothes for a week and kindly declined. We got away with a small selection of second sorting linen dish cloths, including printed instruction on how to finish and maintain them. Great place for an almost dead semi-industrial activity.
Sebastian Reiz — Google review
Wonderful high quality linen factory situated in a forest. One can see the factory floor through the glass windows in the shop, the shop itself has a fantastic range to choose from. Prices are high, but I suppose that's what one pays for quality. Worth a visit

A small aviation museum with a wide array of planes and aviation history. Flight simulation for those interested in trying it out, a small kids area, toilets and a cafeteria with indoor seating. A good place to stop and see if your in the area.
Emma Thompson Nydal — Google review
Plenty of planes and information about them, a good selection of exhibits too as well as some excellent models of planes through the ages. If your a fan of the earlier days of jet powered flight there is lots to take in. You can really get a sense of what the base was like in its operational days! The gift shop is well stocked too! My only criticism is that parts of the museum are a touch dated and could do with a touch of modernising. This may be subject to taste though. Overall a fun experience!
Steve Bond — Google review
Very impressive museum, not the biggest but more than enough for a worthwhile visit. It's unbelievable how massive the airplanes are, and you can get very close.
The simulator is a MUST and truly incredible, if you have the slightest interest in jets and flying. Can not compare to a videogame.
You sit in a real Viggen cockpit with 100% working instruments, even the stick shaker if you stall the plane! Together with a panorama like display it really is impressive, how bumps and small hills are identical to the real world for example. You can turn your head 90° degrees while turning the plane and see the horizon.
And on top of that the instructors are great and knowledgeable.
I recommend 60 minutes.

Well run museum and definitely worth a visit, especially if you are interested in military history and/or flight history of course. They also have a flight simulator where you can fly the combat aircraft 37 Viggen. For the simulator you need to book a time slot in advance on their web site.

Quite an impressively themed and planned museum. It shares a thorough story of the history of the post-WWII Swedish Air Forces, told from a point of view of this single military airbase. Along the planes themselves and various other technicals, it tells the story of the people, the operations and the everyday life of their time spent there. Marvelous approach that carries this nice home feel that adds a deep level of authenticity!

What a wonderful stay we had. Sara was super friendly, with a lot of knowledge and doing everything to optimize our stay. We had 2 overnights, one at the goshhawk hide and one at the Eagle hide. Both very active. It was -15/-20 during our stay, but still cozy inside with heating! I would really recommend to come here for wildlife! I’m definitely comming back:)

The Wild Nordic team is enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge. The atmosphere at the site is familial and nice. The hides are well equipped. I was there end june - begin july.
I stayed at the waterstation hide one night and saw lots of birds, squirrels and even a fox briefly. Unfortunately, the badger didn't show up. But I was lucky that the hawk came by several times and I was even able to take a head-portrait of him, he was so close - that was a very special encounter.
In the Bärenhide I had no luck (perhaps because of the change in the weather) and didn't see a bear. But that's nature, I didn't want to see circus bears ... But I was able to catch a glimpse of a fox, I could watch woodpeckers and jays feeding the young and see a voracious squirrel. A young common buzzard sat on a branch and called for its parents.
Overall it was a nice nature experience and I was happy.

Impressive place. Really big with several real trains 🚊 Great place to stay if you are out on the roads and need a break for the kids. They loved running around looking at the museum or playing in the play room. There's a big outside department that seemed fun with a mini train that the kids can ride with. In winter, however, that part of the museum is closed. The cafeteria was the only bad thing. Really dull. Food in plastic.

A great place to explore and experience swedish railway history. It has signs in both English and swedish language. Offers a lot of information and in the ticket there is also included a ride with a small bustrain to the center of the town or to the storage of some other trains across the town.

Awesome place! Unfortunately closed for the 2020 season due to Corona. Very good place with children and grandparents with an over interest in locomotives and anything that has to do with railways.

Lots of historic trains that you can actually get into. Makes you feel like you're back into history. Outside the museum there is a large area where you can walk around.

Nice , friendly museum, especially nice for families with kids, you can get into a lot of trains etc.
Modest amusement park attracting families for its rides, water park & long-running zoo.
Well arranged for visits despite corona restrictions. The waterland is very good for the younger kids and the park have in general short distances to walk between animals or attractions.

Although it is a bit far from Stockholm, it is well connected by train and is convenient to access. The advantage is that there are fewer people, so you can enjoy it without waiting in long lines. It is very well decorated for children and the prices are reasonable. If there's anything I regret, it's Parking lots are collected by the day, not by the hour. Who will park for a day?

Place preaty nice. I think all hawe what to do. But food place was katastrof we order food takes 1 h too get food then not posible found the place where too sit. And when you found peoples walk around and ask when you finish eat so they cen take your place. And when you eat they stend close to you. It was worst place where i hawe been and eat. Then it takes 1 hour to driwe out from parking place. What cen i say it was my the last time in that place newer ewer again i goona come back there.

This is truly one of the better family parks I have visited. I was most impressed by the zoo and its rich content. The animals look healthy and well cared for, which is not always the case in all parks of this species. In addition, children can play here in the amusement park, and then swim in the Baltic Sea. There are also several restaurants and bars on offer, so you certainly won't be hungry if you haven't brought food with you. I definitely recommend visiting this place if you are nearby, you will be able to have quality fun all day.

This park is not what it used to be.. After the shooting of the chimps.. Idk, it just has a sad, dull feeling over the whole park. It's more suitable for small kids, toddlers or so. The older kids won't be impressed. Too small area for the rides and not so much to ride actually. The animals.. Well there's some fun animals but it wasn't worth a visit. It's super expensive! Can't recommend this park anymore, there's better animal /amusement parks in Sweden to visit!

Disgusting to hear of how they treated those chimpanzees. None of their animals are safe as far as I'm concerned now, and extreme measures need to be taken against these awful people before another senseless killing of some poor animal or animals happens again. It isn't right that they continue standing by their reprehensible actions as if what they did was reasonable with next to no obvious consequences. Hold them accountable—4.2 stars on a zoo run by such ignorant handlers and cold business people is dangerous and heartbreaking.
Very interesting and excited place in the middle of nowhere in the forest next to motorway E4 . There is a small cafe shop with a gift shop, restaurant and historic chinese museum with the world's longest of 150 meters wooden wall reliefs presenting an overview of china's nature, architecture and culture. in the museum there is an impressive copy of the famous Terracotta Army. It's very interesting place and definitely worth visiting.
I liked by the fact that I could see a piece of China in the middle of Sweden👍

Very stange but somewhat magical place in the middle of nowhere, Sweden. If you happen to take this particular highway, this is a must-stop. Small piece of China in Europe.
It's in a bit of disarray, but it's free and definitely worth a visit.

Very interesting and unusual for Sweden place to look at. Just passed by in the early hours of the day, so it hasn’t opened it. According to some sources the Chinese billionaire choose this place to build it because the map of Sweden reminds a dragon and this spot is located somewhat in the belly - which is believed to attract luck according to feng-shui. As far as I know there’s a museum with Terracotta Army replicas which could be well worth exploring and some restaurant. The hotel is yet to be open.

Desolate. Not worth a special visit. OK if you are desperately in need for fuel or to stretch the legs but there are other better petrol/rest stops nearby or just for photo opportunities. It's not everyday you find a gigantic abandoned asian theme castle/fortress in Sweden. Pity that this place is developed poorly.

Nice place to see bit of China in Sweden. Terra-cotta warriors replica is nice and lot of information about China and history on display. Nice cafe to get some snacks as well.

It's an interesting place with much potential, but sadly the unfinished state and disrepair of many places makes it feel like it has been mostly abandoned.
Hopefully someone can refurbish it in the future and turn it into a nice attraction.

This is one of the best tourist activities I've done in any country. It's obvious that they truly care about the moose, on the property and the wild. I highly recommend the tour. Food from the concession is very good. Slightly slow to handle 100+ people but plenty to do and see while waiting.

Amazing place, been here 5times, 3times on tour, taking my friends coming to visit us in Sweden! The owner and guide in one person is amazing person and great showman! Very interesting information about moose, which are very nice animals. Strongly recomend to visit..........must do in Sweden!

Very nice experience. The guided tractor tour to the mooses is very unique. The owners have done a great job of thinking the tour and park through. Both sides - the visitors as well as the animals - are in the focus here. Clear rules (=good) for the visitors, but at the same time we could see everything we came for - from very young, sweet- to beautiful "old" mooses. I really recommend it.

Gamla Uppsala, situated outside Uppsala in Sweden, was a significant center for religion, politics and economy as early as the 3rd century AD. It is home to 300 burial mounds that date back from the 6th to the 12th centuries, including those of legendary pre-Viking kings such as Aun, Egil and Adils. Recent evidence suggests that one of the mounds belonged to a female regent.

Museum Gustavianum, located opposite the cathedral, is a treasure trove of historical and cultural collections. Housed in the former main complex of Uppsala University, it features an array of obsolete tools, preserved oddities, and ancient artifacts. One of its highlights is the 17th-century Augsburg Art Cabinet with its 1000 ingenious trinkets. Visitors can also explore Olof Rudbeck's anatomical theatre where executed criminals were dissected.
Uppsala Cathedral is a majestic Gothic-style Lutheran place of worship that was consecrated in 1435. It is the largest and tallest church in Scandinavia, with soaring towers reaching a height of 119m. The interior boasts an imposing design, featuring a French Gothic ambulatory flanked by small chapels. The cathedral houses the tombs of notable figures such as St Erik, Gustav Vasa and Carl von Linne.
This is the best church or cathedral I have been so far. Such a majestic building from outside and inside.
You can easily spend a few hours marvelling at the architecture and detailing. We happened to visit on a Sunday noon and got to have a glimpse as the service wrapped up.
It's a truly awe-inspiring structure. Well worth the day trip from Stockholm.

The cathedral is absolutly beautiful. It looks really impressive from the outside and is visible fromnalmost anywhere in the city. The inside is also amazing. There is a beautiful grave in the front and glass panels. If you are lucky there might be a choir singing while you visit.

Refered as one of the largest cathedral in Sweden. It is regarded as heritage and iconic symbol. Nice architecture. It is nice to visit and look around. But, the guided tour is recommended if you have interest in history and really want to know more. Interesting facts:
1. It was build with more than 50 Million bricks!
2. The tower shapes were changed several times! By different architectures.
3. When it was planned to build, it was planned to be a big one, not like other cathedral that was build then later expanded. Based on demand. It can accommodate 900 people at a time on the benches, but with additional chairs it can accommodate comfortably 2000 people at a time.
4. Etc.. etc..
Thanks for reading 📚🙏
Visit around spring /summer/early fall, the city of uppsala is more beautiful then. 😍

Gorgeous brick work and impressive spires on the outside bring scope to the fantastic interior. Admission to the church is free, to see the great treasures that survived the fire in the 1700s, there is a cost. Recommend getting the guide book from the gift shop before wandering, as the free pamphlet only touches lightly on all the church has to offer for sight seeing.

The tropical "Winter Garden" offers a bit of a warm respite in the cold darkness of the North. Located in Sweden's first town founded as Christian, this ruined church dates from the 12th century.
The ruins of St. Olof's Church are located right in front of the Sigtuna beach.
And there is a parking lot next to the premises of the ruins. Passing through the cemetery and St. Mary's Church, we reached the back side of the ruins.
This ancient ruin is spectacular and well worth visiting. Because of its excellent preservation, you can now independently explore the ruin.
There are informative signs at the ruin that provide more information about the church.

St. Olaf's ruins is located at 5 mins walk from Sigtuna bus station. Its a very old structure that speaks of centuries old history. Excavations around this place suggest the existence of even older structure that goes before 12th century. The Church is surrounded by a grave yard and generally the gates of the ruins are locked so tourists cannot enter but its definitely well preserved.
Sneha Ganesan — Google review
Interesting ruins surrounded a cementery that makes it the creepiest from the 3 ruins of Sigtuna.
Sebastian D'Agostino — Google review
Built in the first half of the 12th Century, St Olaf’s Church (S:t Olof) was one of many stone churches erected in Sigtuna to demonstrate not only the wealth and power of the Catholic Church but to send a strong message to ordinary people who might still hold pagan beliefs. Once Sigtuna lost its importance in the late Middle Ages the churches began to fall into decay. Fortunately for us, their ruins add to the wonderful ambiance of this very gorgeous place. Take the time to walk through a structure and touch the stones hewn from rock 900 years ago.

A nice low-key site. It doesn't claim to be a museum, even though it has been a very important landmark and is still part of Swedens history. If only it had some signs with some information on the history of the church and town!!!!!
Surrounded by old stones showing clear ruins, and located in a small but peaceful graveyard, the ruins are definitely worth some time when visiting Sigtuna. Do be mindful though, it is still a graveyard.

Great place to visit in Sweden if you like nature, fishing (pike, perch, zander), boating or go for a swim.
Located in Mariefred, a picturesque town on Lake Mälaren, Gripsholm Castle towers powerfully and fairytale-like over the idyllic small town of Mariefred in Södermanland (about 60 km west of Stockholm).
Gripsholm is known as Gustav Vasa's castle, as it was he who built the castle here in 1537. The renaissance castle offers romantic grounds, a fallow deer nature reserve and collections of furniture, handicrafts and interiors from four centuries.
Since Gustav Vasa, Gripsholm has belonged to the Swedish Royal Family and was used as one of their residences until the 18th century. It is now a museum, but still considered to be a palace at the disposal of the King and as such it is part of the Crown palaces in Sweden.
Take time to wander slowly through the many rooms and winding passages... See the Swedish State's collection of portraits – featuring prominent Swedes from the days of Gustav Vasa to present day musician and composer Benny Andersson. Visitors can also enjoy a royal stroll around the romantic castle grounds or meet the royal deer at the Hjorthagen nature reserve... and immerse yourself in Swedish history.
Opening hours:
May–September: Daily 10:00–16:00
October–November: Sat–Sun 12:00–15:00

Beautiful castle with an awesome painting collection. The rooms are very well preserved. It feels like traveling back in time, getting lost in the numerous rooms. Bring some time when visiting, there is lots to see. The tour (one English tour a day) gives a great overview and is amazing value for money (30sek for 1h and a great guide). But you can spend lots of time exploring the 3 different floors. One of the best castles I have been in as it really transports you back in time. The theater is stunning. The gardens are beautiful as well but don’t need as much time as the castle.

Amazing trip with Strömma Kanalbolaget. Very friendly and helpful boat crew who also guided us through the island. It was very interesting and enjoyable. We will definitely come again with our next visitors to Stockholm, it is a wonderful day trip.

We did a boat tour from Stockholm and had a lot of fun and also learned a lot about vikings as well as Stockholm and it's surroundings, both, on the boat as well as on Birka. Would defenitely recommend the day trip to everyone who is interested in vikings and history of sweden!

Really fascinating place, the old viking settlement is gone but they've created an authentic viking village and the museum has pretty impressive scale models. The visit includes a guided tour of the site. It's a full day's outing though. If you plan ahead grab some sandwiches and drinks from a supermarket and don't miss the boat back because it's a long walk home.

Nice Island and a good feeling to be so close by the roots of the wikings. The information what we got during the walk around were very good. Also traveling by boat was a nice experience.
If you habe enough time in Stockholm and a nice wether you can do it.
Also for geocaching you have time if you like it to find some Caches and for an adventure lab as well.
We bought the Stockholm Card and so it was included.

Very authentic feel and a lovely little museum and very beautiful setting, although the food was good in the restaurant it was very expensive. And if you are getting the boat there, make sure you get a seat as soon as you board as there is not enough seats for all passengers inside if the weather is bad, so we ended up sitting on the floor. But the staff where super friendly, knowledgeable and the tour was great!

Nice boat ride out and a good interesting tour. Not much to see in terms of ruins but lots of burial mounds and nice views.

Excellent information and reconstructions and dioramas about the Viking community that existed here. Once you arrive at the island, it's great. BUT it is very unclear where to go to get the boat to the island. No signs. We had to ask locals.
