Ample parking, walking distance for toddlers, lovely fairy trail in particular and just a nice place to have a walk. Playground is good and there was an ice-cream van there which seemed to be semi permanent rather than for just the day.

Lovely park, it has a great set up for children. Fairy houses, bathrooms, playground and it has a coffee truck. Benches and tables around the place, perfect for picnics. A barbecue area and a beautiful Castle for a backdrop.
A big enough park that is dog friendly. Ample Parking.

Clean, neatly maintained park. It has a long walkinv trails and a big children play area. You can have eateries beside the child park on weekdays (not sure of timings though).

Such an amazing area. The forest walk is wonderful at any time of the year and the playground is great for the kiddos. The pier has some gorgeous views and even a little cafe style place for a quick cuppa and a sandwich. During the summer they have crepe and coffee trailers in the park beside the beautiful old buildings. The outside excersise area is also very convenient and there's two car parks for easy access

Hadn’t expected this… such a nice walk, with fairy trail in the woodland, a small pond where you can spot herons if you’re lucky, a completely ingrown mansion, castle, picknick areas, coffee hub, sea views and in spring an impressive flowering of wild garlic coloring the whole spot in white. Definitely worth a stroll!

Great place for the kids. We had 5 kids under 7 with us on this occasion. Plenty of parking. Bring buggies or balance bikes or scooters for the small kids. A lot of walking. The playground is fab for small kids. They love the area around the castle. The fairy trail through the woods is very very good. The toilets have been open over the summer, and v. clean, with nappy changing facilities available. I found these toilets are frequently closed in the past, maybe it's a seasonal thing. Beautifully maintained and clean park. Huge space for the kids. Plenty of picnic tables for the snacks. My only complaint is the ice cream van, its approx 2.50-3euro a cone, no lower price for a small child's cone. The ice cream is delicious, but it's there all the time and the kids always look for it, which often ends up with a few tantrums. Easily pass 3-4 hours with kids there if bring drinks and food.

Great place for every day walk or swim...

A nice park on the water with some cool trails to explore. Not very or complex but still allows for a nice day out. The fairy forest was an interesting surprise and was definitely cool. The park has a lot of different sections which provides a cool experience seeing forests, ocean, a castle, a park for kids, bogs and more within an easy short loop around. Parking was quite easy particularly since it is April and not a super warm day out

Nice Park by the sea. Good picnic tables.
A pity the children's playground was closed for renovations. Might have been better to do this in wintertime when less usage requirements?

A very, well-kept family park. Lots of space to relax on the grass or on the benches. Has a good sized playground for the little ones. Excellent for walking. Stroller, kid and wheelchair friendly (Inc. Specifically designed benches to accomodate for wheelchair users).
Dog friendly as well!
Ingrid Fenech — Google review
A fab park to exercise the dogs whilst parked up ready to go further to the harbour for a stopover in the moho. The park goes further into a wood picnic and great play area for kids.

Lovely park to visit. Large grass area to play on, quality walking paths. Excellent short hiking trails.
Little bit of history tucked in between the park and the play area. Ice cream cart was open when we were there. Does have toilet facilities in one of the main buildings.
BBQ area with picnic tables close to the playground.
Lots of parking available, unless it's sunny, you might have some trouble finding a parking spot. Beautiful forest to explore and the fairy trail is beautiful with all the little fairy doors against the trees.
View of the ocean is right there while you relax when the kids play on the large grass area.
Bins and chairs available near grass patch.
Dogs are welcome to join on the walks.

This is a beautiful park with walks, lawns, and plenty of space for picnics/fun outdoor day. Picnic tables are plenty, and the areas are clearly marked. Parking is available on two sides of the park.
Akshay Dhamankar — Google review
It's clean and kept well, Great place to bring the kids with the playground, and you can smell the wild garlic when you walk through the forest, the open spaces for the dog are great, and also the walk by the sea is something I'd recommend.
Dunguaire Castle is a stunning 16th-century tower house in Galway Bay, located just minutes from the city centre. It was restored by Oliver St. John Gogarty in the 20th century and now serves as a venue for cultural events throughout the year, including evening banquets during the summer months. The castle has a literary history, with notable figures like William Butler Yeats and George Bernard Shaw meeting here.
Small but very charming castle, especially during a high tide! Very well restored with furnished rooms and a small souvenir shop. 8 euros entrance fee. The spiralling staircase takes you to different floors as well as all the way to the roof that offers great views of the surroundings. Restroom on site! Definitely a place to visit! (there is a free parking lot ~2min walking distance).

Great castle in perfect conditions with a beautiful surrounding area.
To park your car, look for a blue and white house near the castle and opposite to it there's an area where you can leave your car (check last photo)
It is closed now but even then it is worth for the views and the chance to take pictures.
No wheelchair access inside and around the castle unfortunately, just at the front where is a path.
⭐ Great place. Would like to try the banquets in future.
Sara Mena — Google review
This castle is currently closed for tours of the interior, but you can still access the parking area across the road, and enter the castle grounds to walk around and take photos.
It is a popular place to stop for a few good photos of a castle on the water.
Mark Pitts — Google review
Very well maintained castle and grounds with a rich history behind it. There is a trail surrounding the castle you could take for a walk carefully as it can be slippery and very windy climbing up. Gorgeous lake surrounding area. Car park free opposite the castle, a bit of a walk especially on a cold and windy day. There is also a ruins-like structure literally opposite the road from the castle. Enjoyable trip. You can also park for free at the town/city centre of Kinvarra and explore away. It's worth it.
Hema Nanthne — Google review
Great Castle. If you're coming from Galway/anywhere North, you need to go past it to park (the lot is on the left side of the road).
Very interesting castle in great shape. Admission is only $8/person Definitely worth it.
Best part was getting all the way up to the top and walking around the tower.
Jonathan Hopta — Google review
The castle isn't anything spectacular in terms of a castle, but the banquet dinner was fantastic. The show that was put on by the Lord, Lady and the phenomenal harpist was worth every penny. Four course meal set in the actual castle dining room with 30 or so other guests, it was a wonderful evening. The food was very good as well.

Nice castle view, refreshing breeze. Went around the castle for a walk but the inside was closed. Worth visiting.

this was an amazing place- we went on a tour- and the guides were absolutely fascinating in regards to knowing their history. Hearing about and seeing this up close and personal- all I can say is GO!!!

A great surprise, out off the beaten track. You can actually go inside and walk around outside. There's a lovely Craft shop upstairs.
The town of Kinvana next to the castle is a great place for a stroll and a coffee

We came this evening to celebrate our daughter's 18th Birthday. What a celebration it was! The castle is beautiful. The staff were friendly and entertaining.
There was a 4-course meal. When they served dessert, apple pie with fresh whipped cream, they lit a candle in one and served it to our daughter first as they sang Happy Birthday to her! We didn't ask them to do that but it was such a nice touch.
After the meal there was about 30 minutes of entertainment.
It was a magical night!
The only con, and I hate to imply anything negative, is that there was NO professional photograph offered. It's nit-picky because of how excellent everything and everyone was. But in case you were wondering, there isn't a professional photograph.
It worked out as someone took a family picture of us outside the castle afterwards.
Nathan Morrison — Google review
A fun, short stop if driving from Galway to the Cliffs of Mohr. There is a decent parking lot within easy walking distance. The castle wasn't opened so we just got some nice photos and went on our way. I would love to have been able to visit when banquets are being held or the castle is open.
Betsy Lawrie — Google review
Quaint little castle with an interesting back story. Lots left up to the imagination. Still quite fun to see the infrastructure. With a gift shop taking up most of the annexes.
A dining experience is offered in the castle, we did not know this beforehand and so only had a look around. I would imagine that the banquet would be quite marvellous in such a setting.
If you're near the area I would recommend sating the curiosity, not more than a 30min visit.

Beautiful! Lovely little circle to walk around the outside too and enjoy the beach. Very picturesque

The Castle was closed so we were only able to explore outside the castle. Very beautiful area.

We stopped by Dunguaire Castle during our visit to Ireland. We really enjoyed the site and paid to climb to the top. Spectacular views, but note that the path around the top is very narrow; it can be a bit tight if you love food like I do.
We only spent 30-45 minutes here, but we were glad we stopped.
Jeff Corns — Google review
As a first time visitor (did not come back for the dining experience) it was great! Not much to the castle, but loved seeing things from the very top!
I would definitely recommend people to come here!
After you go through all the floors and go back to where you bought your ticket… there are a set of stairs to the right that lead to a mezzanine area above that has two nice woman that make rings, bracelets and things using silver. It’s a nice hidden gem with reasonable prices! I recommend that for anyone as well if you want a souvenir that’s not made out of pewter!

Beautiful castle. A lot of climbing on narrow stairs if you are tall watch your head!
A great glimpse into the past. Displays of furniture and clothing.
They also have medieval banquets in the main hall.
Ran into a local who was using dowsing rods and let us try and it worked! Lol
Heart of Burren Walks offers an immersive and informative tour experience in County Clare, Ireland. Led by knowledgeable guides like Mary O'Dea and Tony, the tours provide a deep understanding of Irish life, geology, plants, ancient history, ecology, and poetry. The walks are described as engaging, humorous, and friendly while offering a unique perspective on the Burren's landscape.
April 2, 2024 We are an Australian couple with links to Ireland. My family came to Geelong in 1852 from Kilfenora County Clare and we have always been interested in our Irish connections. We did a tour of the Burrren with Mary O’Dea and I would recommend her tour. Mary is a font of knowledge and her informed and interesting commentary about everything from Irish life, geology, plants and ancient history kept us transfixed throughout the tour. The tour was wonderful and a ‘must do’ when visiting County Clare.
Barb Kelly — Google review
Absolutely incredible virtual tour. Lively, engaging, informative, humorous and friendly - a perfect tour guide. The information stems from a deep love and understanding of/for the Burren. Tony mixed ecology, history, poetry and personal experience to give us a wealth of wisdom. Highly recommended.

Excellent tour of the Burren with Tony. 3 hours of interesting facts and insight of the the area. It would not have been as interesting or important if we did not have a tour. Tony was wonderful. Highly recommend adding this to any tour of The Burren.

Best experience in Ireland
If you want to penetrate the mystery and magic of the Burren-- go on Tony Kirby's walk.
Geology, botany, agriculture, poetry, religion--Tony's tour weaves together many threads to bring the Burren into focus.
Don't miss it!
Tracy Haughton — Google review
Tony unlocked Ireland for me. In between spurts of actual walking, we talked about glaciation, immigration, the Irish diaspora, Oscar Wilde, the EU, neolithic pastoral practices, geopolitics, deforestation, and whisky. If you ever have the opportunity, I recommend a walk on the Burren with Tony.
Adam Lundstrom — Google review
Tony Kirby shared his extensive knowledge of the Burren with us on a lovely 2 hour guided walk. The pace was perfect even though the group was comprised of walkers of various levels. I would definitely recommend this wonderful experience for people who want a deeper understanding of the Burren.
Deirdre Magner — Google review
Though the day was not a sunny one, the experience was tremendous! I'd highly suggest taking a break from the regular tourist traps around Ireland, walk with Tony for a guided, authentic view of the Burren, its nature, and history.
Annette Siegel — Google review
This short hike was packed with sights, facts, and fascination! So many encounters with a landscape are horizontal affairs, and the appreciation and engagement goes left to right, forward and backward.
Tony's awareness and insights, delivered with humor and a sense of custody, make one sense an appreciation of the vertical. I grew conscious of the Burren as a deep history below my feet that informed the flora and fauna on its surface and conducted a relationship to the open sky above. Highly recommended!
Mark Gleason — Google review
Tony's stories and knowledge about the Burren can't be beaten. Gives you what you need to appreciate this astounding landscape. Some poems too to entertain you along the way!

Did the Caher Valley Loop walk, about 15kms, lovely scenery, starts and finishes at Fanore beach.
The Burren Perfumery is a charming floral centre that produces scented items like candles, perfumes and soaps. The perfumery takes inspiration from the wildflowers of The Burren, and boasts of an herb garden and blending area where ingredients for herbal teas are sourced. Visitors can explore the flower gardens while enjoying dishes at its tearoom which uses these organic ingredients.
Super cute visit here today!! It's a bit quiet as it's the winter months but the ladies working there were lovely and let us watch a short film about the botany of the burden which was lovely! Picked up a couple of nice soaps to take home but will be looking online for gifts from here in the future as there were some Beautiful gift sets. Id say when the herb garden is in full bloom it's heavenly but even now it's worth a visit :)

A gorgeous little place tucked away in the Hills. If you are in Ireland, touring...put this place on your list to visit. The tearoom has cakes and pastries which are delicious and healthy meals. Take a walk through the Garden... outstanding views. The shop selling perfume, soaps, body and face products...is amazing. Great place to visit!

We had an amazing visit today. We looked at Google maps which said they closed at 6pm. Arrived at 4:56 pm and saw the door to the tea room read they closed at 5 pm. When we asked to be certain, the kind clerk voiced we were welcome and they would serve us. We ordered a fruit scone, a plain scone, and a slice of apple cake! Best cake we have had our whole visit to Ireland! We had tea for two (my daughter and I) and my husband had coffee. Everything was wonderful! We then visited the perfumery shop and watched a delightful video over the nature and flora of the Burren. I ended up purchasing a absolutely fantastic perfume (summer harvest) and three bars of their soap. The staff were extremely kind and helpful and receptive to us coming with only moments to spare before closing. I would recommend this place without question, but definitely go earlier as we missed seeing a lot while there! It is off the beaten path while touring the Burren and not open to coaches which was exactly what we wanted!

This is probably the best hidden gem I ever found. Every little detail in this place have been meticulously crafted to give you the best experience possible. The atmosphere is vibrant and service exceptional. Will be seeing more of me.

Very nice shop, and it smells beautiful!
Plenty of parking.
My wife loved it. I would say that for the quality of their products, and the fact that they are made there, the price is reasonable.
As you look at the products, you may also try some samples.
And at the checkout, the lady was kind enough to offer my wife to sample the product (lip balm) before she paid for it.
We didn't go to the coffee shop, but if you are in the area, I think it is a good place to stop, refuel yourself and keep going!

This is a perfect treat on The Burren. Definitely recommend popping in for a cup of tea, piece of cake and a sniff of all the lovely products. Bought some lovely gifts for back home and myself too.

Amazing discovery in a picture perfect location. Perfume tour (free) was very informative and all staff were friendly and very helpful.
They even had a 3.7kw car charger available (although this may be for staff use, but I got a cheeky 1hr charge!)
Only thing missing was a wider selection of hot drinks in the cafe, as i feel that this would encourage more people to stay that bit longer and maybe purchase more of their amazing products.
100% recommend.

I'd give this place 10 stars if I could. It's better like all places if the sun is shining, its so so relaxing. The food is so good and all made onsite. The have extended the gardens so more to enjoy.the shop and products are amazing. I bought my first Man of Aran scent for my husband 33 years ago.

My mom and I came here just as they opened in the morning. It's truly a gem and we loved the whole experience. The garden was incredible and the tea room didn't disappoint either. My mom and I both agreed they had the best scones in Ireland. The staff were all very kind. You could tell they enjoyed their work. We bought some perfume and balms and it was one of our favorite mornings spent in Ireland. I highly recommend visiting.

The scenery of this little perfumery is so beautiful. We went this March so I can’t imagine how pretty the garden must be in the summer. All of the staff are very friendly. They make lovely cakes and afternoon tea in the tea room. You can also sit outside on a nice sunny day and have tea in their small patio area. The selection of perfumes and skincare products is very broad and suitable to many different tastes.

I first visited the Burren Perfumery in the early 1990s, when the little cluster of buildings was far more open to the Burren, and honestly it felt a little ... I suppose the word is vulnerable?
I went back to it again 2 decades later and it feels very different. It no longer feels vulnerable and exposed, as the trees have been allowed to grow around and through it, and the various flowerbeds and pots are now well established with lots of life and colour all year around.
You can check out the process of making perfumes and soaps in the Blending Room and the Soap Room, wander the pretty Herb Garden, and browse the products in the Shop, and enjoy lunch, teas, coffees and DELICIOUS cakes in the Tea Room - but be warned, it's usually busy, especially in the high season.

Delightful film about the burren and
Talk about blending.
Herb garden relaxing and mist beautifull tulips.

Menu simple but food outstanding.

A spectacular place situated in a rural setting in the Burren. Its shop has unique and exceptionally good quality perfumes and soaps amongst other items. It also has the loveliest restaurant with the purest and healthiest of food. Perfect and well worth a visit.

A local suggested we come here and I’m so glad we did, because it’s not somewhere I would’ve picked on my own. We went on a weekday and it wasn’t busy. Interesting but delicious food options, beautiful rock buildings and gardens, and knowledgeable staff. The perfumes smelled wonderful and I actually bought a bottle to bring home and everyone loves it. It’s so hidden from the road too!

What a magical place set within the Buen Geoscape. The beautiful setting of the buildings amongst cosy gardens. Lovely helpful staff explaining the complex properties of each beautiful perfume. Wide range of skin products and a cafe with cakes to die for. Well worth seeking out.

A first class experience! Even though they were without power, the wonderful staff managed to open and provided the full perfume "tasting" experience: all four Burren scents plus four season-inspired perfumes. Like a good wine tasting, each perfume was unpacked for its underlying aromas. The unrushed and no pressure testing was just the off-the-beaten-track experience I value. For a homemade perfume, not too expensive either.

Lovely little shop in the heart of the Burren national park where you can buy soaps, scented candles, and perfumes, as well as see and learn how they make them.

Awesome discovery! The Byrren Perfumery was recommended by Maura .. a delightful woman I met in the market at Galway. First of all the drive to the perfumery was magical; garden delightful; and then of course the highlight was the tour with Patricia & listening to the engaging owner speak passionately about their operation. I must have tried on every lotion. Later kept thinking about the perfume I left on the shelf. Will order it when I get back to Canada!!
The Burren National Park is a magical and stunning landscape of cliffs, rock formations, and lakes. It's home to many rare plants and animals, including otters, mink, lizards, and ravens. The park was awarded UNESCO Global Geopark status in 2011 because of the international importance of its geological heritage.
Not sure if it was just Google maps taking us on an adventure but we travelled along many narrow farm type roads to get to the Burren national park.
It's unusual to experience a park that consists of rock formations as far as the eye can see.
The rocks were amazing and we wish we had more time to explore a bit longer and do a few hikes.
We still enjoyed this special terrain none the less

This location pinpoint is the starting place for all the well marked trails from the official website. Car parking is the side of the road and free. We did the blue Mullaghmore loop and it took us ~2.5 hours with a stop at the top to eat lunch. It’s a lovely walk, not too difficult but requires you to climb up rocks and not always on a normal path. I would do the same trail again if I was in the area!

If you're keen on Geology, great photographic shots, and a bit of history, this is then a definite add to your 'Ireland bucket list'.
The Burren is renowned for its remarkable assemblage of plants and animals, and over 70% of Ireland's species of flowers are found there.
It's quite a drive but the views are incredible, take with your hiking boots and enjoy the trails.

I found fossils at the top! If you like that sort of thing, this place is good for finding them. I found my first amonite here.
I don't do the spandex and two sticks sort of hiking. I wear my leather boots, which have good grip but aren't from mountain wearhouse. The 'red route' was easy enough for myself and my partner - neither of us are that sporty and the view from the top was a blessing!
We were lucky with the sunlight and it suited the heat there. The bleak hills became like a desert. There were lovely goats all over the place and strange stones about.

Sooooo beautiful! I recommend going on the loop farm trail. Very nice trail in nature but you still see the traditional rocks Burren offers. We even met a Fox and goats on our way.
The farmer who created the loop was very kind and talkative. We met him by chance but it was a very nice meeting. Thank you!

Excellent location for a hike. The sounds of the birds on a sunny day is wonderful. The climb can be a little risky on the vertical parts and loose rubble but with care it is very much worth the visit and walk.

Special place with a landscape that teases the imagination.
It's possible to park closer to the park than the designated parking area on google maps by turning right at the crossroad. There is verge parking available along the road outside the stonewall entrance into the park. You will save yourself some unnessary walking.
Features variety of walks of different lenghts, the longer ones over difficult terran. Those featured on the parks map are very well marked.
Look out for 300 millon year old fossilised choral in the limestone.

If you're looking for a fun and active way to spend the day with your kids, then head to the Slieve Aughty Centre. This family-owned eco-friendly equestrian and leisure centre offers horse riding activities and pony rides as well as other activities such as cycling, walking with or without donkeys, crafting, the Enchanted Forest, and even catching fairies in their own forest!
We went here recently for a hen party and couldn't recommend it highly enough. The location is beautiful and peaceful. The rooms are wonderful and very comfortable and the food was gorgeous. We made flower wreaths as part of our stay and it was great to have something to bring home as a souvenir. I was a little nervous as I had never visited and wasn't sure what to expect; however, it surpassed my expectations in every way.

What an amazing venue / hideaway. We had our wedding here in June and the day was perfect. All our guests were completely blown away. Jenny and the team were so attentive they really couldn't do enough for us. You would not think you were in the middle of Ireland. We visited several times before the wedding for food, coffee or just a walk. We had exclusive access to the venue and most of our guests stayed the the night, they loved the rooms and the vibe as much as we did. We are already looking forward to calling out for lunch again and have our anniversary night here already penciled in. Thank you all so much, we really did have an amazing day we will never ever forget!!

Went on a Sunday ride with my 10yr old.
The facilities are out of this world. Step back slow down, this is a nature lovers paradise
The hack was great fun did take time to get organised as my daughter's saddle was slipping which then made her a little nervous starting out.
Ponies were forward going and the ride was great fun with beautiful scenery.
Our guide was superb with my daughter who took a while to gain confidence and with his encouragement enthusiasm and guidance had a "best time ever".
Had lunch after and I can honestly say the most delicious homemade soup!
Can't wait for next time..!!!

I had a private party at Slieve Aughty in March and cannot recommend this little gem of a spot highly enough. We had over 80 guests and each and every one of them were blown away by the venue, the food, attention to detail, the uniqueness and the amazing service. From the moment I queried with Slieve Aughty about holding my party at their venue, nothing was an issue. We hired the venue out to include the bedrooms and two of the lodges and we were so impressed… Such thoughtful attention to detail, comfort, decor, the beds were amazing, rooms so spacious (not that we got to be in them for long as the party itself struggled to end 😂), balconies with the birds singling away in the morning… where will I begin and where do I end… The food was amazing, the breakfast to die for, the ambiance, service, freedom and genuine hospitality was 10 star and not just 5!!! Cannot not recommend highly enough!

Lovely place with delicious food. My friend brought her son and his friend there for a birthday treat to go for a pony trek. They loved it. While they were away we had a lovely lunch at the cafe that's on site. I had my dog with me, so we had to sit outside. The only suggestion I would have is to include some heating eg patio heaters for outside dining specially given the Irish weather

Attended a wonder wedding over the weekend at this venue.
The staff were so friendly and catered for all our needs.
The venue itself was perfect for a weekend of late nights chatting around the outdoor fires.
The food was excellent, using local produce; much from their own vegetable plots.

My partner and I got married here in the June 2023. Such a stunning place to host a wedding, the experience was A1, thanks to the kind staff from the cafe and the wedding coordinators, Lisa and Jenny. We booked the entire guesthouse , and two of the cabins just steps away from the guesthouse. The tranquility of this location and countryside setting are beautiful and refreshing to have your wedding at , especially if you live In a city. We had 44 guests in total at our wedding and it was a great space and everyone commented on how cosy and intimate it felt. Fortunately for us ,We had our in the outdoor space under the pergola. Our guests were sitting around us in a circular fashion. The buffet dinner was spectacular , great offerings , something for everyone and the beauty of a buffet is people can pick from the 4 different offerings and have it all on their one plate if they choose. And even go up for seconds as plenty of food was made! The organic garden onsite is responsible for how magnificent the food is. Slieve aughty are very accomodating to allergies too and will work well with the bride and groom to ensure a great day/weekend is had. Not to Forget, the pizza night on the eve of the wedding went down a treat, followed by tea and biscuit cake. Overall what you can exp eat is a relaxed environment, that allows you the bride and groom to essentially curate your day. We had a harpist for ceremony music, and a DJ after dinner for 4 hours. My family brought their traditional Irish instruments too and played a session the night of the pizza party. We hired garden games from an external vendor too and this was added entertainment for the wedding guests too. Giant Jenga, connect 4 and cornhole (many Irish people were new to this game , including my own family) . Also on the.night of the wedding I hired a mini bus to collect guests who were staying offsite and he brought them to their respective accommodations, I felt this was worth it as the location is remote and if your guests want to have drinks and are staying offsite , it was worth booking this service. Would recommend this venue for a nice intimate wedding space. 50 I believe is the maximum allowed for guests so bear that in mind if inquiring for your special day here.

Lovely place to stay in a couple of days or just a few hours in the weekend. Plenty of activities for horse riding training or just walk in the woods.
The little coffee they have is beautiful and the staff is very friendly. I would recommend the organic breakfast if you're staying overnight there or the pizza nights on Friday's evenings. My husband first went as a guest and is now returning weekly for the horse lectures 🤣 Highly recommend 👍

Best stables ever. I learned to ride here back in 2015. Woody was the best little pony. I've done so many lessons and hacks here, their cafe is amazing! Especially their chips. The mountain trotter rides are so much fun, I honesty cannot wait for the Halloween camp! :-D
Quin Friary is a charming Franciscan ruin in County Clare, Ireland. It is a favored spot for visitors due to its peaceful atmosphere and well-preserved architecture. Despite being usually uncrowded, the abbey's ruins are wonderful to explore and you can easily read the gravestones. The site has several rooms to discover and there are informative plaques about its history on display. Adjacent to it, other ruins are within walking distance too.
One of favorite spots, especially for photos, whenever I visit the area

Beautiful ruins in a serene setting. Be sure to check the hours the gates are unlocked if you want to go inside the building. We came at an odd time but still were able to walk the grounds and peek in the doors.

This a beautiful historic site. There are two areas. It is just an open grounds of sorts. It would be very cool to have some sort of self guided tour available. We were looking for Mcnamara family names. We found several. FYI to get to the newer cemetery go to the side road and there is a path.

A nice step back in time for anyone interested in the history of Ireland, some nice photograph opportunites with the remaining stone shell. Quin is a lovely, small, quiet village in County Clare. Visiting is free, parking is on the road with a small walk to the site.

I stop here every time I go to Ireland. It's a favorite place - never crowded, in fact, we're usually alone. The ruins are in remarkably good shape, and you can even still read the gravestones easily. You can wander all over this place; go inside (most of it) and look in the rooms, and there are several to explore. There are some plaques there to tell you about the history of the Abbey. It's peaceful, and gorgeous, no matter the time of day or weather. When you're done, go across the street to the Abbey Tavern to have a pint!

Never know this existed until recently and I grew up only 20 minutes away from it. Really impressed with the size and condition of the friary. There is a decent bit to explore in the friary and best of all it is free to visit. There is a lovely pub across the way from it once you are done with the visa. Definitely recommend it.

At the Foynes Flying Boat & Maritime Museum, you can find a replica of the original B314 flying boat, as well as information about maritime history in the Shannon Estuary. The museum also has an ORegan Restaurant and Irish Coffee lounge where you can enjoy some food and drinks.
This was a brilliant couple of hours, adult tickets were only €8 and for that you can walk all the way around the flying boat, and visit three floors of decent exhibitions. The highlight is obviously the boat, you'll almost miss the stairs to the upstairs where you can sit in the cockpit. The Maureen O'Hara collection has some wonderful pieces, including an actual Oscar statue, and the Foynes harbour section has some great history about the history of trade and industry in the area. Make sure you go all the way to the the fourth floor as you can go outside and use the binoculars to look out across the Shannon estuary.
Stuart Saint — Google review
As I stepped into the museum on the weekend, I was greeted by a warm and welcoming lady at the entrance. I bought my ticket and began my journey through the halls filled with historical information, immersing myself in the rich tapestry of the location's past.
The staff members were lovely, and I was treated to a captivating historical movie that shed light on the museum's significance and the area's fascinating history. As I explored further, I marvelled at the different planes on display, particularly the majestic sea flying boats, which showcased why Foynes was an ideal hub for such a unique mode of travel.
One of the highlights of my visit was exploring the life and legacy of the legendary actress Maureen O'Hara as I learned about her iconic roles and admired her timeless costumes on display.
But the most unforgettable moment came when I stepped inside a real flying boat, amazed by the sheer size and grandeur of these magnificent aircraft.
To top it all off, I concluded my visit with an authentic Irish coffee experience, savouring the blend of flavours.

Small sea plane museum in town of Foynes, Co. Limerick. Carpark outside. Access through resturant/cafe & gift shop.
Museum is interesting as it's full of facts regarding seaplanes landing in river Shannon. You get to see a real PAM seaplane. It's very big and impressive! You can go inside, sit in passenger seats, visit cockpit & navigation room. A must for any plane enthusiasts. Young children and adults can also enjoy a flight stimulation.
The main museum covers information about important locals, maps, Foynes boating & shipping memorabilia, navigation artifacts, weather reports, etc. Also little hologram video about the first Irish coffee made a served in Foynes. Due to covid restrictions Irish coffee wasn't available to purchase or enjoy!
Included in ticket price is the Maureen O'Hara exhibition, Maureen opened the museum in 1989 & visited it every year till her death in 2015. The exhibition is a little room of a few dresses, some awards and general information regarding Maureen. All items donated by her grandson.
Worth a visit if in area but only a once. Cost of 2 seniors, 1 adult and 1 child €39. Wheel accessible in main museum only.
Caroline Kavanagh — Google review
The museum seemed to be very spaced out the last floor had hardly anything in it. The woman at the desk area seemed like she was having to do the job of two people as she had to escort people in then come back and serve at the ticket and gift shop area. There was a very good hologram room but I felt like it could have been displaying more than it was. It was very interesting walking around the flying boat model this was the highlight of the museum for me.

Very warm welcome from reception desk.
Car park easy to use and immediately in front of meuseum.
Film show excellant in theatre.
Replica flying boat amazing and to be able to sit in cockpit great fun.
Well laid out.
Newly installed Maureen o hara visit very good and adjourning cinemea showing exerts from films novel.
Would have liked much more info on technical details of planes/ engines but do see need for all inclusive appeal for all ages.
Foynes Irish coffee expensive but worth it.
Pity gift shop did not sell models of planes as am sure people of my generation would have purchased.
However good exhibits and hologram films.
Maritime bit...strange and sparse but gave history of port.

The Flying Boat Museum is a great visitor in West Limerick. The flying boat facility itself is spread over 3 floors. It would, I feel, benefit from being all on a larger ground floor area with the Yankee Clipper placed in the middle with the Control rooms and other boat equipment placed around the perimeter !
The Maureen O'Hara Museum is magnificent and very well laid out with costumes and items from her long acting career including the 2014 Honorary Oscar also displayed. Don't leave without trying the Irish Coffee !

Recently visited the Museum after waiting a decade to see it. I was not disappointed. Wonderful museum of aviation. So much going on. From the amazing Boeing 314 , The invention of the Irish Coffee 1943 , The Maureen O Hara exhibition including an Oscar.
I was so impressed with the Maritime museum, though I felt more prominence should be given to local Foynes native and legendary mariner Conor O Brien

I had no idea this museum was so interesting OR that it's also a "Maureen O' Hara" exhibit/display. Not sure why it's not advertised more. Nanas and Grandads will love the MOH section, parents will enjoy the ease with which you can get around the place (buggy friendly) kids will love sitting in the cockpit of the flying boat and if Michael O' Leary ever sees how spacious the seating on the plane is, he'll hurl himself into the estuary. Ample parking, café at the museum, lifts to various floors, €12 per adult, €6 per child.

The tour starts with an informational video about the history of the Flying Boat (sea plane) followed by a walk-in visit of the actual plane. There’s a relative big section of ships & other maritime related stuff.
Worth a visit if you’re in Foynes or in the nearby towns.

Bunratty Castle is a 15th-century tower house in the village of Bunratty, Ireland. The castle was restored in 1956 and it now houses exhibitions about medieval and Victorian life. There is also a folk park with recreated cottages, shops, and farmhouses.
Great place to visit with family and friends. The visit kept us all occupied for nearly 4 hrs. Can walk through the restored castle and village and get a feel for what life was like in the 1500's. Good adventure for children and educational for the young and the old. Refreshments and food are available on site to buy and the the Bunratty shop offers lots of momento's for everyone. Best part about this is the folk park of historical village buildings. All were easy access and dressed as the period they are from. The castle is also interesting but very steep narrow staircases to access the rooms so you need reasonable fitness to reach them and the views from the top.

Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. You will enjoy a lot of this castle and park. There are plenty of curiosities both in the castle itself and in the park nearby. Go up the narrow stairs of the castle towers, feel the atmosphere of the main hall, and look at the rooms of the different status of the castle residents. And see how farmers, fishermen, blacksmiths, and other people of that time lived. The old houses are still heated by park staff in the same way as in ancient times. The entrance costs 10 euros. Large parking lot. Enjoy!

Bunratty castle is gorgeous! Walking through the street lamp path till you reach the castle is beautiful. Then once you walk into the castle you're transported back in time. We enjoyed mead, music, and a four course meal. It was so fun to listen to the harp and singers. I loved the comedy added into the performance from the butler. Overall it was a great experience! I will say the food could be better, but it wasn't horrible.

We went to Bunratty with my parents (a fit 70+) and my kids (8 & 10) and we all had a fantastic time. I couldn't see in any review or information exactly how long to stay or whether it was any good in wet weather, but I'm so pleased we chanced it and didn't try fit it in on the way to the airport. Sure, you could go walk around it fast-paced in an hour, but why would you when you could take your time leisurely enjoying the many little cottages, hidden gems in the fairy Forrest, casual beer or cuppa in one of 3 areas, or let the kids play in the fabulous play park.. We were there a good 5 to 6 hours, and that was really taking our time through the many historic buildings and stopping for lunch. The staff in the blacksmith area and the man with the drum were a highlight as they chatted away about interesting historical topics..often having the crowd chuckling with their cheeky humour. The castle steps are not for the feint hearted, but the view up top was worth it. Stopping in at the ice cream parlour next to the play area is a must! Another favourite was the black pudding sausage rolls (or would it be black pudding rolls!). I took home a bottle of castle-made Meade at €24 and we finished off the lot that night. At the end of it, we all enjoyed it, young and old.

Amazing place but keep in mind if your bus stops for only 20 minutes, you only have time to take pictures of the castle, nothing else! They close and lock the small gates where you enter next to the castle and the only exit is through the Folk Park shop and it is even further away from the bus stop than the entrance. The Toilet is at the far end of the park. This layout caused some headaches for us and our bus driver. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

We arrived early for the Banquet dinner at Bunratty Castle, and they let us in to explore the Christmas Village free of charge. It was so very charming and festive. My partner's parents were visiting from Canada and they adored the experience; they hadn't experienced anything like it in Canada. The Banquet dinner was equally amazing - the hosts were so talented, juggling service and entertainment duties so efficiently. They engaged all the guests and performed so many classic songs very well. Can't wait to go back again.

Disappointed in the lack of information to read and learn at each exhibit. A few sentences isn’t enough for most houses and the castle rooms are not explained beyond a sentence or two in the map. I would have preferred more information than less! It’s a nice walk though, pretty houses that have been well maintained. They just need more historic information.

We did the Medieval Feast and were amazed out how well the performers were and how they stayed in character all evening. The food was generous and delicious. A must do!!
Buy your tickets in advance and skip the lines. The feast sells out quickly so you’ll definitely want to get those early and it’s a must do!

This castle is very complete with artifacts that make you feel like you’ve gone back in time!
The detail they put into everything, especially the folk town is incredible! They even burn peat in the houses make it a multi sensory experience!

Despite the rain, we had a fun time touring the village. The castle itself was alright, but not one of our favorites. I think I would have liked it better with a tour or more information.

Interesting attraction with enough to keep everyone young and old entertained for several hours.
Recommend visiting the castle first then take your time exploring the historic buildings in the park that feature homes from Ireland's past.
Plenty of free parking available nearby, and adequate facilities bearing in mind the numbers of visitors.

I highly recommend it! The history of the castle is impressive, very beautiful and interesting. On the territory there is a large park with ancient architecture, which shows how the Irish lived in ancient times. It is best to plan a trip to this location for the whole day.

What a fabulous spot for a family day out.
We had such a great evening at their Festive Lights Walk, they had beautiful lights placed all around the park, the different thatch houses were on display for us to visit and they had lots of Christmas attractions from an igloo with animals, a big Christmas jumper, a merry go round and a fabulous light tunnel.
I would highly recommend their Christmas Festive Lights Walk.

Nice castle and village to visit. The spiral stairs steps are small for grown men with big feet. The staff were very friendly and available to answer questions.

We visited the site of Bunratty Castle on our way to the Cliffs of Moher. Despite not having visited the interior, the exterior is well maintained and it is possible to understand that it is a very well preserved historical site. There are many restaurants and shops in the surrounding area, so it will be a good stopping point to explore.

A good day for a visit St. Patrick's Day 2024. As for the castle, mind your steps as the winding steps can be tricky. It's well worth the effort to step carefully. I love the folk park too, like stepping back in time and seeing the old community.

This was a lovely stop to have just after landing in Shannon Airport... only 10 minutes away.
So much to do and see. Loved it all.
Even had an impromptu performance from singers who were rehearsing for the banquet that evening.

You will need three hours to tour the complete castle grounds. It is huge. The castle is the highlight for sure but the grounds themselves have a ton of buildings, animals, and attractions to keep you entertained but also to teach you something new.
King John's Castle is an imposing Norman castle that dates back to the 1300s. It was renovated in 2013 and now features period costumes, visitor center, and interactive exhibits. The castle is located on the Kings Island in Limerick, Ireland.
This is one of my favorite castles to tour. It's a legit castle, complete with "murder holes" around the perimeter and all the tremendous history to go along with the heavy exterior... whilst being right there in the middle of this sweet town of Limerick! The view from the top is stellar; don't miss it! I've visited the castle several times. The first was for myself! I was curious about it and was so surprised to find such a well-organized museum inside! I've returned several times to take others who had never toured the castle and will likely go again for the same reason! But I enjoy it so much, so I don't mind at all. If they offered a season pass, I'd likely get one!
Most recently, I attended a Van Morrison concert at King John's Castle and was just amazed at the intimacy of this venue and the majesty of the space! It was a dreamy experience!

Excellent place to spend a sunny day, beautiful views from the tower, lots of interesting history and interactive exhibits inside the different areas of the castle. You could easily wander for a few hours especially with 6-12 year old children. The inside of the museum has some fun and educational exhibits like a cannon ball that you can hold to see how heavy it is and a model of the battle that was fought here. Outside you can walk into several different areas but the best parts are climbing up the stair wells to see the views.

King John's Castle is an ancient massive structure, a fortress with a very rich history, built in Limerick on the banks of the river. After the halls with interactive history stands, you go out into the courtyard of the fortress. There you will find the most interesting things for children - many games and entertainment. There you can see the towers, climb up, admire the beautiful scenery and the rapid river with rapids. The fortress has its own free parking lot for visitors about 200 meters from the fortress

The whole family loved this place. Free car park about 2 minutes walk. Tickets are reasonably priced. Staff are very friendly. The whole place, toilets included, was spotless. Nice cafe and gift shop at the end of the tour. Really informative, interactive self-guided tour. Nice panoramic views from the top of the castle walls and towers.

I was pleasantly surprised, the upkeep and care of every step of the way is lovely. You start your journey stepping back in time reading and interacting with the written history, which leads you underground to the foundations and ruins hidden under the castle, which then leads you to the court yard full of medieval games, music and you can explore the castle which is reconstructed well.
Tilly's World — Google review
Well worth a visit. The history of Limerick and the castle is told in a very detailed and interactive way. If you’re not willing to read your way through a museum, several videos show you a good summary of all mayor events in the history of Limerick. A few items do require some maintenance (several lights were not working, multiple screens in the castle itself were not working). You can climb the castle tower and get a beautiful view of the city.

What a great museum and castle! We’ve been to a few castle tours here in Ireland and this one has to be one of the best. The museum portion is very informative for those of us who might not know the local history and does a great job explaining the importance of the castle. We were able to walk up one of the towers which was quite exciting! The tour section that takes you underneath the castle walls is also fascinating. I’ve never seen something like this at a castle and it put into perspective a lot of what was talked about during the museum portion about the siege! Overall wonderful castle!

Visited the Limerick King John castle during noon time on a weekday. Not crowded, tickets are easily available, you can also book online.
Firstly, in my opinion please visit the place only if you want to absorb the beautiful landscape of Limerick along the Shannon River as viewed atop the castle towers. Thats wonderful scenic views. 5 stars for it.
Rest of the museum brings down the rating for the improper lighting and the way things are being depicted. No person is found directing anyone or showing the way. Tourists are free to go any which way they like and then realise they need to go back as they missed something. Once you are in the center courtyard of castle, poor directions allow you to wander in which any direction. I will not be surprised if some tourist missed on some sections of the castle just because there are no proper sign boards.
The technology has been used but only to be non-functional most of the places.
There is a cafe at entry-cum-exit and of course a souvenir shop, Which are good.

Visited on a Wednesday afternoon, purchased 2x €13 Adult Tickets and entered right away (no line).
We did enjoy the history exhibits, but a lot of the exhibits were closed or non-working. They also had a lot of major construction going on internally, so these aspects made the ticket prices not quite worth it for us. Didn't feel we got the true value.
Views from the castle tops were lovely.

If you like history facts and detailed explanations of day-by-day happenings of a castle, this is for you. With excellent history timeline and very well done dioramas, it made me plunge into the history of the place. I took my time soaking everything, and once the open yard of the castle, I was overwhelmed. Worth it.

We visited on Sunday where it was very quiet. This castle and museum was incredible. I say that because I’m the earlier part of the museum they fully educated you on the history and timeline of events. When you made it through to the castle portion you were fully immersed and could picture what it may have been like there back then. They gave visitors a lot of access that was safe and self-paced, making it great to go at your desired pace. There are a lot of castles to see. This one is a standout in my book.

Really nice castle with included museum.
Parking lot is across the street and has many free spaces.
We booked our tickets in advance online but it wasn’t necessary on a weekday.
The exhibition was nice and had different interactive parts. We really liked the “people” in screen who told you about their life’s back in the days.
After the exhibition you could go through a walk through path where you could see the old stone walls of the castle. Then you could also climb on top and had a really nice view.
You could end your visit with a walk through the shop or get some food & drinks at the cafe.

This Norman keep was built around 1200 and it’s over 30 metres high. The crown of crenellations (Buildings with defensive architecture often have gaps which were implemented to allow the launch of arrows or other projectiles from within; these gaps are called ‘crenels’) and the ring of clerestory windows were later added in 1861.
What is really interesting is that you enter this castle for free. You just walk in and climb the first set of wooden stairs until you reach the first floor filled with lots of information about the castle. Then you climb stairs made out of stone, which are way more uncomfortable but also way more interesting. The second floor seemed to have been the public hall of the keep, with a destroyed fireplace made out of sandstone. The third floor is the last room on the inside before you reach the top. Be careful here, the wind can be quite strong here, but the view really is stunning!
I am so glad that I had the chance to see this castle again and to tell you a bit more about it. If you’re in the area, stop there and climb these old stairs! I can definitely only recommend Nenagh and the castle here!

The Lough Gur Visitor Centre is a museum that tells the story of flint and bronze material, their manufacture and use as well as their eventual deposition in the area. It also has displays on Stone Age pottery and other artefacts related to the lifestyles of the area's first inhabitants. There are two annual festivals held here, which offer visitors an opportunity to explore the landscape and ruins nearby.
Very peaceful place. Very suitable for children. Paths suitable for push chairs by lakeside. Playground near visitor's centre. 3 decent car parks. A coffee kiosk which takes cards is located near the car park. A very steep climb to the Visitor's Centre.

Quaint little spot. Picturesque, quiet, peaceful, beautiful. Built right into the hill. There’s a little playground and lots of benches and picnic tables around if you can find a decent warm day when the seats aren’t wet. This backs right up to a farm and there were cows walking right along the fence. The visitor center also has a small museum in it, but it wasn’t open when we stopped by. The lough alone is worth the visit, but altogether a nice little spot to check out if in the area.

Great little place. The locals have been making better use of it since Covid, it had more visitors than we expected. You need to be fit to climb the far steps. Our student’s group had a great trip to Lough Gur on Monday. We listened an interesting talk about this place’s history from Stone Age to modern times at Lough Gur Visitor Center. After with tour guide Brian we had short walk around area. It was gorgeous! It’s a one of the most beautiful places Ireland! There is a lake, hills, small forest, castle’s ruins. Finally, we visited Great Stone Circle, which was built several thousand years ago. I’m really grateful to Kate and Brian for this amazing day! The Donkey Sanctuary Ireland is a place where rescue donkeys and mules who have been abused or neglected can find shelter, love, and the necessary care they need to live happy and healthy lives. The sanctuary is open to the public for free, and you are invited to walk among the animals, meet some of them in person, and sponsor one if you feel moved.
Such a lovely place with such a beautiful cause. Can't fault the adonkey sanctuary. People there are so nice nice friendly. Lovely atmosphere. Plenty parking. Grounds are kept immaculate. You can tell by the donkeys that they are well looked after.
Went today for a little Easter hunt. Very well layed out and organised. Very very reasonable. Making a donation. I think if anything to try maybe get a little funding that a minimum 5 euro price for even parking your car there wouldn't go astray. I know it is completely based off donations but if everyone paid even a fiver it would all add up. I think even a fiver per car and 5 euro admission most definitely should be charged. Because it deserves it.

A bit off the beaten path and if you’re in the area it’s 100% worth the visit.
We went on a weekday when the visitor center was closed since we had adopted one of the donkeys (Roma). The workers were very helpful in showing us where she was and bringing her over to us with a snack.
You can tell the donkeys are well cared for if you’re familiar with farms generally. The donkeys aren’t very shy either they’re keen to get some pets and especially a carrot.
There are also footpaths that go beyond the houses into the fields but it was closed due to the weather and also probably just the time of the week.
The place has a sanitation station and clean toilets.
My sister and I went out on a 2 hour trek with Clare and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. She was lovely and we enjoyed not only the gorgeous scenery and her vast knowledge of Tipperary, but also the ability to actually ride and gallop a few times which can be difficult to find as a tourist. Highly recommend, Tipperary Mountain Trekking!

My experience was amazing with Clare and Dante! Dante was a saint of a horse and completely changes the stereotype for Connemaras ( they are known to be being stubborn) but he was an amazing horse on the trek to upperchurch! Clare was amazing and full of knowledge about the land and the history and archeological site that were once there. I felt like a little kid again galloping through fields! Clare is amazing in her knowledge of herbs and plants in the area that are beneficial to horses and humans alike and she really cares for her horses and the well-being of all horses! She went above and beyond both on the ride and when I rang for some advice later on. The pub is the most charming pub and I was lucky to have it all to myself, the food was fresh and delicious ! It was truly the best experience all around and when we do come back to Ireland (flying into Shannon) this will be out first stop! 10/10 and suited for all riders just be honest and humble about your experience and you will have the time of your life. I tend to undersell myself when in Europe as American riding is much different as far as cross country so I say I'm a beginner and I've been riding and training for over 20+ years just for reference. Honestly everyone should experience this amazing countryside this way and you won't regret a moment of it. Thank you Clare for one of the best experiences in Ireland I am truly thankful and cannot wait to do it again!

We had an absolute perfect time! We have zero experience riding horses or ponies. My wife and I along with our 6 and almost 4 year old were guided and taken out by Claire and Lillie who made us feel extremely secure and confident. The scenic around there is gorgeous. We highly recommend coming here. We had a really special experience. Our kids did not want to leave.

Had a fabulous 2 hour mountain trek. It was a birthday present for my sister. Claire set the pace perfectly to our ability...I'd not ridden for 40+ years! To say I was rusty was a complete understatement... It was a natural style of riding which I'd not done before much kinder to the horses. Thank you Claire and Lily, also the girls working there. A thoroughly enjoyable day.😁

Amazing experience and one of the few authentic trekking centres left in Ireland, highly recommend! Claire was really friendly and a great source for local heritage/folklore stories!

What a great experience. We have a small family who are not that familiar with horses, but the team at Tipperary Mountain Trekking Centre were more than accommodating, making sure we were all comfortable and safe. We took a shorter trek, but the views were marvelous and the company and history was nice.

I had such an amazing trek with Claire. She is so lovely and knowledgeable about the history of the area. The horses are all lovely too and look very well cared for. There's a really nice atmosphere too.
I had a fantastic trek specifically adapted to my skill set and experience. I'd recommend it to anyone who is passing through Tipp. Thanks again

I love this place! The people, the animals, and the serenity of the surroundings. Clare and Lily's riding establishment/bed and breakfast is always the highlight of my trip to Ireland. I am about to return for the 4th time in 7 years. Each time, I bring new friends to experience this gorgeous and unforgettable setting, and we always make a point to be there on a Thursday in order to take in Jim o' the Mills famous pub, hidden in the countryside. You don't have to have any riding experience to trek the legendary Tipperary hills, but you should have a sense of adventure and a love of nature. This is not your typical B&B, so if you are looking to be pampered in posh surroundings, look somewhere else. But if you are wanting to experience the "real" Ireland and meet amazing, like-minded people, you are in for a treat!

We picked an October day that was misty and overcast for our horse ride (pony trek, as they say). But it didn't bother us. The whole area was beautiful, the ride comfortable and enjoyable. We were out for 2 hours in the evening. Even though we couldn't see the wider views because of the mist, it's hard to express how unspoiled, ancient, and peaceful the area feels. I don't know anything about horses, but my daughter and my wife are more experienced riders. All three of us thoroughly enjoyed the ride (even though my 15-year-old is not smiling in the photo!).

As a complete novice I was terrified to get on horseback. I am so glad that I did! What an amazing experience!! Clare and Lily could see that I was extremely nervous and did everything to alleviate my fears and make sure that I was comfortable and felt safe at all times. They were absolutely brilliant to say the least. If I could give them more stars, I would. I highly recommend Tipperary Mountain Trekking, because whether you are an experienced rider or a first timer like me, you will not be disappointed. Thank you Clare and Lily, I am so looking forward to my next visit 😊
Ballyhoura mountain bike trails offer a great way to get some exercise and see some beautiful scenery. The car park is 5 euro and you can also rent bikes from there. There are marked trails that are easy to follow, making it an ideal place for hikers of all levels of experience. The area also has toilets and a bike shop nearby.
I'm riding there since 2011. There is something new every year. At this stage it is great fun where everyone can find something for themselves. Easy cc or gnarly trails. Recommend

What an experience - Did the 17k (Brown) route and it was a lot of fun and high tempo cycling. Course was really well laid out with some tough uphills followed by very rewarding and challenging downhill trails. The support from the staff was superb and the shower facilities afterwards made it a really comfortable experience. Bring a backpack, water, sunglasses, snacks and a change of clothes!!! Cannot wait to visit again and try the other trails.

Don't go alone. Trails are beautiful and the scenery is amazing. I crashed and needed to go to hospital. The team looking after the rentals didn't want to pick up my bike or myself from the trail and drop me back to the carpark due to insurance. Thankfully I was with friends who drove around and get the bikes back. Neither did they have much medical supplies at their shop. Hopefully this won't be the case for future riders.

Is 5 euros the car park and you must have coins to play it.You can rent a bike and equipment from there. I had my 400 euro bike and I feelt that there is her limit, need good brakes and a bit of skills because you can hit any time a tree or rocks. Is very easy to fallow the marks. And at the end you can wash your bike the for 2 euro coins but the water has low pressure on need a brush.

Hore Abbey Entrance is the impressive ruin of a Cistercian monastery located at the foot of the hill near the Rock of Cashel in Ireland. Dating back to 1270, this historical site stands out for its unique north-facing cloister. The formidable 13th-century ruins are situated in flat farmland, making it a must-visit destination for those exploring the area with their own transportation.
Park on the side of the road and squeeze through the little gate. This beautiful ruin has rock of cashel in the background and a small creek running by. So pretty 😍
Natalie Abkarian — Google review
Truly incredible, the Abbey is in the middle of a field and when I visited I was the only one there. This made for an out of time experience. I would strongly recommend to anyone in Cashel not to miss out on it. Especially since it is free it would be to bad to miss it.
Marie Larguille — Google review
Splendid old church with nice grounds surrounding it. The most spectacular views of the Rock of Cashel. Lots and lots of sheep around it. Very serene place, walking distance from Cashel town center.

Told by the employees at the Cashel Rock that this is an old monastery. A wonderfully adventurous experience to walk down there from the Rock, also free from any litter and vandalism which we could see. Would have liked an informative sign somewhere detailing some history about the ruin.
Juandr? Scheepers — Google review
Hore Abbey is a similar structure to the Rock of Cashel. It was established in 1270 and disestablished in 1540. It is just a few minutes' walk from the Rock of Cashel.
Iqbal O'Neill — Google review
Hore Abbey is a short walk from the Rock of Cashel and worth a look. Only ruins remain but it is nevertheless interesting to wander about. Entry is through a farmers field, but there is no charge. The Abbey offers another good vantage point from which to view 'The Rock'.

this was such a good find! very near cashel and glad i visited. there is no parking, but completely worth the visit. such a beautiful place! it is completely free to enter and is accessed through a small gate into the field which can be found on the side of the road.
Ellen Graham — Google review
It's nice to be able to walk around ruins without a conglomerate of people buzzing about. If you want to examine some nice ruins not too far off the road this is a nice place. Plus it is a short walk through two fields beyond the Rock of Cashel.
Jesse Hogan — Google review
It’s a beautiful historical place originally built in the 13th century. It has ruins but well protected. A bit confusing when you see the sign at the gate, seems like a private property. After talking to a nice local lady, I found that the building structures are Ireland heritage and government property along with the walkway. The surrounding field is more like private property since cows come to the area during summer. No designated parking but you can just park on the street. Free parking and free entrance. A roadside attraction from Dublin to Cork.
Yeasin Bhuiyan — Google review
Beautiful Abbey with an interesting history. A short walk from The Rock of Cashel and free to enter. I enjoyed this much more than RoC, if I’m honest. While we were visiting, there was a mass being given by a very eloquent young priest. Lovely to see. Also surrounded by beautiful cows 🐄 10/10
Ciara O — Google review
This Abbey can be seen from the grounds of the Rock of Cashel and is within walking distance , probably 10-15mins. If you go by car there is very limited parking
We went by car and what made this unique was we had to cross a field of cows to get to the Abbey which for us made it more fun. You enter at your own risk but the cows never bothered us. The Abbey was bigger than we expected and in good shape in many places. As it's in the middle of a field it also makes for some great photo shots .
If you visiting Rock of Cashel then pop in to the Abbey

Of Historical significance over 800 years old.. beautiful stone work, built originally by the Benedictine order with medieval methods still in evidence today. Situated in a working farm field with roaming cattle and a pathway straight to entryway. A magnificent view of "the Cashel " just above on the limestone. NOT.. wheelchair accessible as you have a small rounded gate with one way access to navigate onto pathway. No parking lot.. small roadways.

Rock House, St Patricks Rock St. Patricksrock, Cashel, Co. Tipperary, Ireland
The Rock of Cashel, situated in County Tipperary, Ireland, is a visually stunning historical site. Built on a green hill with limestone outcrops and ancient fortifications, the area comprises a complete round tower, Gothic cathedral from the 13th century, Romanesque chapel from the 12th century adorned with old frescoes. The Rock served as the seat for Munster's Kings until it was turned over to the church after Norman invasion.
Great to be able to see this up close. We had an amazing sunny day which made the experience very pleasant. But probably on an overcast day or even a rainy one would make this experience creepier and still feel amazing. Recommend walking the grounds and even going to the abbey at the bottom of the hill where it was deserted and really cool to see too. That part is free if you just wish to go there.
Daniel Laprise — Google review
Phenomenal! It is one of the ruins that we enjoyed most! It is on a hill and the parking is at the foot of the hill. A short wait for the tickets (€8) and you are in! I would recommend the tour as the guide walks you through and tells the story of this grand structure. The old wall scripts are protected but visible to the public. It is amazing how much is preserved for us to see and enjoy. Definitely take your time and walk around. There is another ruin down the hill which is also amazing to visit. You can take the short cut through the grass field or you can take the paved walk around the Cashel grounds. Recommend both! Great site!

Interesting place to stop by. The real attraction isn't the ruins but the sweeping vistas all around. It did rain while we were there, but waiting it out proved to be a huge boon as the skies cleared up for magnificent photo taking opportunities.

A must see for one and all - The Rock Of Cashel is truly a site to see and experience. The tour is excellent. The staff are so passionate and helpful. The chapel tour is also a must see. So much history and lots to learn. The views from the castle grounds are amazing you can see for miles. The grounds are truly beautiful and worth a walk around after and a stroll into Cashel town.

I had a fabulous visit here last year June 2023. The only down fall was the walk up a steep hill to get there. So a warning to all not in good shape or if you have mobility issues. The views were spectacular and worth the heart attack walk lol. I loved all the history and just knowing I was standing in a place so ancient was very special for me! If you visit Ireland this is a must see destination!!

It was a cool place to visit though we did not do any guided tours so we only spent about an hour exploring here. The Rock of Cashel itself, while impressive, is not very big so you could easily see the sights with a quick stop!

A perfect halfway point between Dublin and Blarney Castle. Easily could spend an hour walking around the property and taking in all the views. They have a guided tour option if you have a little more time but you can very easily walk around yourself if you’re limited on time.

Beautiful attraction with fantastic views inside and out.
The structure itself is massive and with the various outer buildings and boundary walls it is very imposing.
Take your time and soak in the history.
Not expensive and well worth a visit.
Town surrounded it has also got some very interesting buildings and some great pubs and restaurants to fill the gap of the walk on the Rock.

Very cool place to visit. The castle itself is very old and crumbling so you’re more seeing the outside stone structure but it’s very cool to see. Great for photos. There are some exhibits in the building inside. If you want to go into the chapel, you’ll have to go with a guided tour - you can’t buy those tickets only but they’re 3€ additional at the door

Stopped on the way to Cork. Parking is €4.50 per day on site but there is a slight hike up to the location. Managed by OPW so there's an entrance fee or free with the heritage card. There is a multimedia show at certain times, I did not find it educational for the the visit. The place is small and can be covered in half an hour. Don't get me wrong, it does offer good photo ops.
Nee Shen Ho — Google review
It is situated on the top of the hill with nice views all around. Pity only ruins are left and the state never rebuilds the castle. However it's a part of history. You can get tickets at the door. The toilet is closer to a car park so a bit of walking. The nearest shop (souvenir) is small and poorly enough

This was a fun stop and I think it would have been way better if we had had time to explore the heritage trail and town. We arrived later than expected and were the last people admitted. They were super kind and didn’t charge us because we only had about 20 minutes in the castle.

This is a must see location when in Ireland. The place is full of history and very famous. Try to avoid the bus tours flooding the place in the morning. Enjoy the majestic ruins, the Celtic Crosses of the graveyard and the view from the hill where it is built.

Outstanding remains of medieval buildings and cathedral. Do get a picture from the road as you approach the town of Cashel. In town, easiest way up is by the Bishop’s Path for an easier climb. The structures are beautiful. And the views of the surrounding countryside are splendid from this vantage point. Make the Rock of Cashel a stop on your way across Ireland.

The Rock of Cashel is an absolute marvel, steeped in history and majesty. The towering medieval structures against the backdrop of the Irish countryside create an awe-inspiring view. While it can get quite busy, the site's grandeur and historical significance make it an absolute must-visit. An enchanting journey into Ireland's past!

The Rock of Cashel must’ve been the inspiration for the Monty python scene in “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.” The history that happened in the rock a casual, and the architecture from the different centuries of construction is absolutely amazing.
The view from the top of the hill looking out over the Irish countryside into the surrounding villages is also breathtaking.

Impressive fortress and amazing views onto the Irish countryside. You can feel the importance of that location, and almost feel the presence of the people who used to live and died there over the centuries as you walk past their final resting place in such a beautiful location, set atop of a large granite outcrop among the rolling hills of Ireland.

Great cave, good tour guide, beautiful sights. Tour group could've been a little smaller imho. 20 people would've been fine, but ours felt a lot bigger and had small children & a wondering cameraman which dragged the whole thing out, and made it difficult to hear the guide. It is a very convenient location to get to of M8. If you are going to Cork or heading back to Dublin from Cork then it's highly recommended there is enough parking. There are toilets at this place. There are no coffee shops or souvenir shops. They don't want to keep it commercial. It is one of the best gifts I have been to. Some of the formations are really very impressive. Can't believe that what we are seeing in there are several million years old. The tour guide was very informative. It takes 45 minutes. There is a waiting should at the top of the entrance. If you arrive before the tour begins, you are not allowed to go in there by yourself.

Well worth a visit, but would advise pre-booking as there can be tour buses arriving and may cause delays as group sizes are limited. Entrance down to the caves is steep in parts but more not too daunting. Tour takes no more than an hour, as there are three main caverns that is shown, but time is given in each for pictures and to ask the tour guide any questions.

Went on a tour of Mitchelstown Cave's. It was really interesting thanks to our tour guide. She was very informative and explained the history and facts relating to the formation of each chamber in the cave's. I'd recommend a light jacket when going into the cave as it's cooler than the surface and a little damp, too. It's worth the visit just due to the history and size of this natural subterranean formation.

Loved this little town of Cahir , so quaint with amazing scenery
The castle is very well preserved and in a beautiful setting next to a big park and stream. Many geese were present basking in the sun . The high walls around the castle make it quite daunting but it's as if it belongs there.

Cahir Castle is a must-visit attraction for anyone traveling to Ireland. This medieval castle is beautifully preserved and offers visitors a glimpse into the country's rich history. The castle's impressive architecture, well-manicured grounds, and picturesque setting make it a perfect spot for photography enthusiasts.
Inside the castle, visitors can explore a number of rooms, including the great hall, chapel, and dungeon. There are also informative displays and exhibits that provide insight into the castle's history and the people who lived there.

If you’re a history buff or just a traveller out to see some amazing structures then it’s absolutely worth coming out of your way to visit Cahir and see the castle.
The entry price is very reasonable and you could easily spend a couple of hours working your way around this magnificent old place.

Truly the Castle to see if you're a Medieval time traveler! Not expensive, but very rewarding. It has a gift shop, in the back. If you have kids, I would recommend visiting BEFORE walking the castle grounds. They have toy Medieval toys that would be extra fun and great for family pictures! Unfortunately, they don't fit adults. So bring yours to step back in time!

The single best castle experience in Ireland. €5 to enter but that includes more access than most castles. Explore inside and out, chambers, dining hall, including amazing views of the surrounding city and river.

Outstandingly preserved medieval castle. I thoroughly enjoyed my stop here on the way from Dublin to Cork, and felt like I was stepping back in time. Parking was very easy and I appreciated the modern toilets. There are some great exhibits and lots of rooms to explore. I was lucky to visit on a sunny day, and the surrounding area was lovely and afforded a number of peaceful walks to local sights.

Awesome visit, great staff and free on Wednesday!
We enjoyed our visit even more than our time at Rock of Cashel earlier in the day.

We loved exploring the grounds and buildings, and learning the history. (Gotta say we appreciated the modern toilet availability though.) It was fun checking out the buildings and carefully taking all the stairs. Be careful of low doorways too! Amazing architecture; quite a history lesson.

Unforgettable Cahir Castle!
Discover the enchanting Cahir Castle in Ireland, a mesmerizing medieval stronghold with rich history and breathtaking views. Immerse yourself in tales of knights and royalty as you explore its well-preserved interiors. Climb the towers for stunning vistas of the lush countryside. A must-visit gem for history enthusiasts and day-trippers alike. Unforgettable!
There is a big parking spot near the castle. Also there is park where you will enjoy the views and walk.
Definitely recommend it!

Excellent example of middle age castle. One of only a few in Ireland that retain many of the interior areas and features. It's the best one I've visited for that reason.
Also located in a lovely town right beside a beautiful park and walking paths.

Impressive castle with a great guide.
It was an incredible experience to walk through such a nice castle and its three courtyards, the place was lined with history and the guided tour we had was incredible. The historian was funny, and extremely knowledgeable about both the history of the castle and the region, and presented the tour in a way that was easy to understand.

Wonderful castle to tour when in the area. We stopped here after touring the Rock of Cashel, and it was still a very good place to visit. Cahir castle was built in the thirteenth century, sits right on the River Suir, has great views, and is one of the best preserved castles.
There was good historical information and a large diorama to show how it fell to the Earl of Essex in 1599.

Excellent place to bring kids. Very well kept amenities. Picnic or take in a walk to Swiss cottage through the fairy forest. While dogs are allowed on green space and forest walk ... no dogs in castle grounds so leave your pup at home if doing the tour.

This is a true fortress from centuries past. It's a wonderful place to tour at your own pace. There are many rooms and towers to explore. There's even a dungeon you can climb down to and then climb the spiral stone staircase to the top of the tower. From there you can get a great view of the river and part of the city that surrounds the castle. There's even an odd cannon ball or two that are lodged into the stone walls. You can also feed the geese that are on one side of the castle. Be sure to catch the short movie of all the wonderful castles in Ireland.

After a long drive from Glenbeigh, it was nice to get out and stretch our legs during a guided tour of Cahir Castle. I was struck by how much of the place has been preserved and how well it has been preserved. The tour was informative, and video at the end helped put all the pieces together for us.
Most of the grounds are accessible to wheelchairs, including the ground floor of the castle itself. However, the upper stories are limited to windy, small staircases, so make sure you keep ahold of the railings!

Enjoyed the docents and their knowledge of the castle.
Easy to find, beautiful park next to it. Don't miss the av presentation

We had a great time visiting Cahir. As regular castle visitors, it was great to visit an OPW site with so many rooms and buildings to wander around and discover. The guide was very friendly. A rare portcullis and its machinery can be seen there. Toilets are also clean with a loop! Well worth the 5e for an adult. The castle is part of a wider public amenity with great investment from the Council and local community clearly evident.

A beautiful, less well known castle in County Tipperary. Ruined but still very majestic. Overlooking the town. The Swiss Cottage, the family's previous "country escape" is 2km from the castle in what used to be the castle estate. Recently restored by FAS apprentice student tradesmen, it is gorgeous and well worth a visit.

I found it more interesting than the Rock of Cashel. Good exhibits and views in a somewhat restored castle, plus town itself was charming.

A wonderfully authentic Norman Castle ! Beautifully restored some years ago, this treasure is definitely worth a visit - particularly if you have children over 7 years old, as there are lots of narrow steps and stairs. Very interesting audiovisual gives you the lowdown on this former Butler residence.
The Fota Wildlife Park in Cork is a 70-acre zoo area that includes endangered animals like Sumatran Tigers, Visayan Spotted Deer, Visayan Warty Pigs, Lion Tailed Macaques and the parks latest arrival Jamil. It is also home to a large garden with numerous plant species.
This place is spread over many acres of land, and the animals in this wildfire park have really huge enclosures and they are very well maintained. The animals themselves are well fed, as there are certain times of the day when you can see the caretakers feed the animals. The park itself is huge, with loads of animals, and a lot of space to walk. You can easily spend the whole day at Fota. This place is located half an hour drive from cork city, but you can easily take the bus/train to reach there. Definitely worth a visit.

We went as a family to the zoo on a day off. Two hours is definitely not enough time to see all the animals. It would be better to have five hours to see everything in peace. Unfortunately, we don't tolerate keeping wild animals outside their habitat. It's the only way to show them to our children in person :(
We loved the tame crows, they catch food on the fly, then a caravan of crows followed us around. Feel like a dark lord 😆

We had a lovely day on Saturday. Place is well spaced out and plenty of room for visitors. Plenty to see and enjoy nice walk. Staff are very friendly. Few coffee shops around at reasonable prices. Car park is well lied out with staff directing traffic.

Always a good place to visit on a nice day. You've got a few animals roaming around in the free just minding their own business and some cool animals in their enclosures. They seem to be well care for too.
Make sure you buy the tickets online (10% off). If you live nearby and want a place to walk at regularly then getting a pass makes sense too.
Try not to be loud in the tropical house area, animals like the sloth can get stressed out by your voice (and strong smells) :)

It was lovely to see the Animals free in their enclosure, I wasn't able to go the whole way around, but I got half way around. Its was the Time for putting food into their houses while the animals were out side, they staff really feed them the best of fresh food and water. It wasn't an expensive day out. Only negative thing I would say and it's the only negative thing is, its the staff wasn't the friendliest .The shop is responsible cheep for the parents of the children or any souvenir. Overall an enjoyable Day out. Worth a visit

It was so lovely, the park rangers were so friendly and offered up information about the animals. Even as a busy park you don't feel crowded or like you can't see anything. The animals all seem happy and comfortable, well cared for. The environments seem to suit the animal rather than the humans trying to see they all had areas they could chill in and get away from it all if they want too and importantly get out of the heat etc. too.
It was a lush day out thoroughly enjoyable!

We had a wonderful behind the scenes tour with Lesley. She was fun and full of knowledge and made it an enjoyable experience. We got to feed the giraffes, penguins, monkeys, rhinos and tiger! It was fascinating to see the work that is done behind the scenes, the food prep and other species not on public view in the tropical house. Highly recommend the tour, fun for all ages, 2 hours well spent!

Well spent day at Fota. Good for visiting with kids. Kids enjoy the most and have plenty of entertainment within the park. Fresh food served and toilets available. Wheelchair accessible as well. Have options to take a train to Fota as the train station is just there. If you are concerned about walking the park, there are train rides within the park to show you around. 10/10

Great place to spend the day with the family.
It has kangaroos walking among people, as well as lemurs and monkeys.
You can see from very close the tigers, cheetahs, and lions.
All the animals have plenty of space to live happily. It’s not a zoo.

Event as a pair of adults, we loved fota! We happened to be visiting from Dublin so added this to the itinerary. Everyone should visit fota atleast once, it's totally worth the trip. If you have kids, they would obviously LOVE it. Where else in Ireland do you spot free roaming wallabys and kangaroos, peacock trying to impress the peahen as if there were no watchers, and the Indonesian tiger and the Indian lion in all their glory!

It's quite a large park and we end up spending close to 4 hours here. The animals are beautiful and well kept. The signage is educational. Feels like there's a lot of space for the animals. It is a huge park so be prepared to walk. There is a "train" ride.. €1 per person to take you half the park or €2 per person to take you the whole round. After taking the train, I think better to skip and walk around the park. There's no narration or explanation on the train trip.

Great day out for the family, growing up we often visited foto wildlife. The park feels very open and free compared to other zoo’s Iv visited and shows off our beautiful Irish landscape to those visiting overseas, even if the animals are cold and within there huts you can see them play/eat. The grounds themselves are well maintained.
Our last visit was during covid years, The indoor enclosures weren’t open. I was very impressed at the reptile/fish/butterfly building. Stunning!!
During our visit it was off peak, Noticeable construction around the park. Always happy to see it expand! But the dumping grounds of materials on the wood walk past rhinos was off putting…
We shall be back soon!

One of my favorite visits during our month long stay in Ireland. Lismore Castle was highly recommended by a gal we'd met in Dublin & it was worth the day trip out of our way. The gardens are well maintained and filled with a lovely variety of plants. The castle itself is unavailable for tours (my understanding is it is a private residence), but the grounds are varied. Definitely recommend a stop at this well maintained historical landmark.

The most beautiful gardens of any estate or castle I've been to. Absolutely stunning and worth a stop.
Cafe in the gardens serves only cakes/ teas/ coffees; however many people visiting the garden brought their own picnics.
Has a lovely hidden away playground within as well.
Only disappointment is that no real portion of the actual castle is open to the public.

Beautiful gardens, very easy to walk around even if you're not too steady on your feet as I wasn't when we visited but the gravel pathways are great & even the grass ones aren't too bad.
Lovely friendly & welcoming staff, especially in the cafe & you simply must have some cake made by the chef in the castle - it's to die for!
The only reason I didn't give 5* is because the castle is private & I would have loved to go around even part of it.

St. Colman's Cathedral is a huge, imposing building that dominates the skyline of Cobh. Completed in 1919, the cathedral is a testimony to the wealth and power of the Catholic Church in Ireland during the early 20th century. It's an interesting place to visit, and its architecture is beautiful.
A beautiful cathedral that overlooks the Cobh harbour . Convenient free parking at the back of the cathedral,a 5-10min walk into town to visit other well-known attractions. A small donation inside the cathedral is requested.
The cathedral tower is 91m high and the cathedral took 47yrs to build. The arches , carvings and stained glass inside are awesome , the pulpit is something else.
Just check website for services or events and work around that. One of the most amazing cathedrals we saw in our 2 week trip in Ireland

St Colman's Cathedral in Cobh boasts an awe-inspiring and incredibly detailed cathedral that is nothing short of breathtaking. Incredibly tall and breathtaking structure! The style is similar to gothic. When you are nearby, the first question that arises is how they could build it? Such power comes from him! It was not possible to get inside the cathedral, the time was later, it was closed, but such greatness that it exudes from the outside, I can’t even imagine what it is like inside! You definitely need to visit it again! A lot of sculptures, as allegories of virtues and vices. As well as statues and reliefs that are located in niches, give this majestic cathedral its special atmosphere. According to these images, it can be read as a book of the Universe. Across the road from the cathedral is a strip of colorful houses that have their own charming charm.
The Titanic Experience Cobh is a new permanent visitor attraction which tells the story of the Titanic and its passengers who boarded in Cobh before it sank. It's well done with innovative technology.
I can highly recommend the museum. Few interactive displays and knowledgeable guide made our tour very special. Prices for the tickets aren’t expensive. Beside there is a nice restaurant with fresh food and drinks for all ages 😊

This is a great little attraction. It's pretty small and you wouldn't need to spend more than an hour here.
But is very informative and for such a small space they have managed to use the space well.
I have visited twice, once with adults and once with a 5 year old.
The 5 year old did enjoy it but she was obsessed with the Titanic at the time, even so she fairly galloped through the exhibitions.
They had exhibitions especially designed for children, but at 5 years old probably a year or two too young.
There was plenty of reading so the adults got more out of the experience than she did.
Still I am glad I went and the 5 year said it was good too.

I was able to walk the same path the final group of passengers walked to board the tender which then took them to the Titanic.
I was given a First Class passenger ticket of a real woman (Lillian) who boarded in this area. At the end of the tour, I was able to find out what happened to her. Lillian, did survive the Titanic, however her husband William did not. She went on to marry two more times in Wisconsin.

Definitely need to pre-book tickets, otherwise you will have to come back another time. The unique experience here is that they assign you a ticket of one of the person who boarded Titanic from Cobh. You then later find out if your character survive the sinking. It is a guided tour, you go in from one room to another that resembles the "scene" of the story. The guide will tell you some of the people who boarded Titanic and also some folks who disembark at Cobh. This was where some of last photos on the Titanic were taken and preserved. After the tour, there is a small exhibition.
I pre-booked my ticket and had to change time later. Called them a few days earlier to make the change and it was very easy to make the change if there's still slots available.

Spike Island is a small island in Cork Harbour, historically significant for its role as a monastic settlement and later as a prison. The island is also home to the 200-year-old Fort Mitchel, which served as an important prison holding over 2300 prisoners during the Irish War of Independence and from 1984 to 2004. Today, visitors can enjoy a guided walking tour of the former prison buildings before exploring on their own.
October 2022: we ended up going to Spike Island on the recommendation from our BnB host. We had a great time on the ferry over, and the tour was informative without being overdone. The island itself has lots of information on placards, and if you’re not into going into the prison there’s lots of lovely walks outside. We found lots of berry bushes and little goats. Be sure to dress for the weather; we started the day with sun and a bit of wind, and throughout the day the wind picked up and we ended up in a cold rainstorm. Since this was at the end of tourism season, we made sure to pack a small picnic as the tour lasts an entire day and the small café on the island was closed.

Good place to spend 3 hours of time. It started with a 10 minutes boat ride from Cobh to Spike Island. There will be a free guided tour for 40 minutes in which they will explain why this fort was built and how it was used during British and Irish. After the short introduction we have a option to take a trail outside the prison which will take 30 minutes max and then rest of the time you can spend inside seeing the history of the prison. You can see different types of guns used for defense, different weapons and dresses used by military people. Also you can experience the dark room which was used a punishment cell during British era and modern prison also. Overall it is good place to visit once and learn about the history.

Our guide John G was very knowledgeable and friendly and was more than happy to answer any questions or to him. Nice boat journey between Cobh and the island too.

Fabulous place to visit, Fascinating history throughout the ages. Our guide Anna was excellent!
Delighted we decided to come here . Walks around the island are gorgeous with wonderful 360 degrees views.

A place I would highly recommend visiting. Full of History, the tour we had allowed for 3hrs on spike island however that time flies and 3 hours just doesn't seem long enough , we stayed for a bit of a guided tour to get some of the history of the place.

The Island is picturesque and has a rich history. We visited with our 1 year old baby and found the facilities there fantastic. It’s a must see place in cork.

Very interesting place with an interesting atmosphere.
Best to visit when not too windy and ideally not raining.
The tour takes ~3h, and it's enough time to see almost everything.
Restaurant is a bit expensive (as you may expect) and food could be much better for the price (better than nothing) Overall, interesting place and would recommend to visit.

Spike Island was an amazing piece of history. We had the best guide call Rob from spike island tours. He was knowledgeable and it was very informative. It was a lovely experience going over on the boat, then being able to walk freely around the island.

Great place to visit. Full of history. I would advise following along with the walking tour. Our guide was Karl, he was very well versed in the history of the island and had a very pleasant demeanor which is great to see from a guide. The walking tour is about an hour which leaves a further two hours to explore on your own as well. The time flies which is always a good sign.

Fascinating place absolutely packed with history. The boat ride over only takes around 10-15 mins. It was a very smooth journey on the day we went. The island has literally hundreds of years of history all built on top of each other. When you get off the boat the guide gives you some options including to stay with him and walk up to the gates with a guided tour by him on some of the history. 100% do this! It only takes about half an hour and is a great introduction. Some people rushed on in and missed all of it.... there is a one way system around the fort which works well in guiding you where to go next. Make sure to walk around the coastal paths of the island too. It doesn’t take long and the views are incredible out into the bay where Titanic was once moored. There is a small gift shop too upon exciting the fort. A great experience and one of my favourites on our trip to Cobh. Amazing value for the price!

Midleton Distillery Experience

Food & Drink
Old whiskey distillery on a 15-acre estate dating back to the 18th century, with tours and tastings.
Very nice location even with construction going on. Tour was very enlightening on the distilling process. All the employees were very nice and helpful.

The tour is interesting and fun, they show all the steps to produce whiskey and explain the difference between each type. They offer a free drink on top of the 3 whiskey's tasting. This has been my first time tasting whiskey and here I discovered that I do like Irish whiskey more than the Scottish and American's ones, the flavour less strong and it's easier to drink.

We did the Behind the Scenes tour and it was one of the best tours I’ve done. You not only learn about the product, but you learn about the history and get to see it come to life in incredibly well preserved facilities. Bart was a fantastic guide.

Was an excellent experience, the staff at the tills advised me to take the full 2 hour tour which was the best advise ever. Bart our tour guide made it a worth while visit, explaining the history and process behind making the fabulous whisky. We were to taste some amazing whiskys along the tour. If you are in Ireland and near Middleton I would advise to take some time out to visit.

Great place to learn about whisky. You can feel Irish at os, taste their whisky and ask some questions about history of this place. They have also their local shop but prices were quite high. To be honest better prices are in big supermarkets, but there you can also buy smaller tasting bottles and souvenirs 🙂

I can highly recommend the Behind the Scenes tour. We were very lucky to have Bart who was a very knowledgeable and personable guide. It’s a truly magical place steeped in history. Can’t wait to tour the new distillery and Academy next. Thank you Midleton, the future of Irish whisky is in safe hands 🥃👍

Had a great visit and tour today with Joe as our guide. Didn't feel as commercialised as I was expecting, perhaps as it wasn't busy. I was reluctant to send the €26 on a tour but was good value and a great learning on the history and making of Irish whiskey and getting an understanding on how Irish differs to Scottish whisky.
Joe was a great guide and very knowledgeable and entertained our questions with great patience and knowledge.
my only gripe is why on earth a couple with young children (one in a pram) would be allowed on an adults only whiskey tour. It was very disruptive with noisy kids which was really not acceptable for a paid adult tour when the kids were making such a noise at times.

A wonderful tour, well worth it in every way. Very informative, the tour guide kept our interest peaked all the way through. The whiskey tasting was a fun way to end the tour

The Jameson Experience Tour is a completely guided tour of the Midleton Distillery. We were lucky to have scheduled our tour on the First Day/Grand Opening of their new Showroom/Gift Shop. Our Tour Guide presented the history of the rich heritage and decades long traditions of whiskey making. He was able to explain the very hard working of the often dangerous process many many years ago. The looks and smells of the vast facility were a great experience. The whiskey tasting was very informative and a lot of fun. We enjoyed our original Jameson Whiskey cocktails at the end of the tour. The Gift Shop was full of very well priced merchandise, the quality of the goods was excellent. Well worth the 90 minutes ... very reasonably priced for the outstanding experience.

*Pro tip - Do not go to the actual distillery, you need to go to the Jameson Experience and make sure the directions take you through town and when you arrive it should be a old building with obvious signs you are at a touristy place.
Our GPS took us to the actual Midleton Distillery where they brew their whiskey today. Our tour was at 16:45, we were already going to be a few minutes late, but when we arrived and saw a bunch of workers also leaving, we knew that something wasn't quite right as we approached the modern building. One worker noticed straight away that we were tourists and directed us to where the tours were actually at. He was very kind and helpful!
When we finally arrived, we were more than 15 minutes late and shared our apologies. The hosts were so nice and said it happens all the time and we hadn't missed too much because the tour was about 90 minutes long anyway. We got a quick behind-the-scenes walk through the property and joined up with the group. Funny enough, after a few minutes, another group joined us (undoubtedly in the same predicament that we were in).
The tour was REALLY good, we learned about the history of the building and the process specific for making Jameson, as well as their other whiskeys and spirits. The buildings we went into were either brand new or original. When we visited I'm August 2023, they were in the middle of a restoration and expanding their existing operations (see pictures). There was a lot of construction cones, signs, etc. but when we got there most of the workers had left for the day.
We saw the distillery copper pots and their new testing/experimental facility that they use to train 2 apprentices a year. Towards the end of the tour, they took us to the barrel room and it was pretty cool to see how they store hundreds of barrels of whiskey. Our guide, Brian was excellent at engaging the group and keeping the excitement in his tone throughout his presentation. He told us that the whiskey evaporates at 2% a year, and since by Irish law, they have to let it age in a barrel for at least 3 years, they automatically lose 6% of whiskey to the "Angels" (the happiest Angels that there is). He was able to show us, using barrels with a clear front panel how much each barrel loses over time. He also had jokes about the cows and pigs being the happiest in Ireland because they get the leftover barley and hops.
The tasting was also very good, as they provided a half-shot of American whiskey and Scotch whiskey as comparison to the Jameson Irish whiskey. He had us pause and consider the notes (smell and taste). Lastly, they dropped us off at the tasting room/bar and gift shop and we could have a Jameson drink (and pay for extra if we wanted). While we sipped, our bartender Joe was very nice and told us how Brian is the sansay of tour guides, has taught them all and is quite good at what he does. We also got to talking with another bartender, Conor and he gave us some recommendations for places in town that we could visit for dinner.
Overall, we really liked this experience and even after a long day, it was one of our favorite tours we've ever done for beer/whiskey!

St. Mary's Collegiate Church in Youghal is one of Ireland's oldest Christian sites, with a history dating back to the 5th century. This national monument, constructed from blue and grey stone in a cross shape, is a must-see attraction. The medieval church, dating back to the 13th century, houses historical artifacts and stunning stained glass windows. It also hosts various events throughout the year. The church grounds feature an intriguing cemetery and remnants of old town walls.
Fascinating place tucked away in this small beachside town. I stumbled across it on a morning run when we first moved to the country. Beautiful just to walk the grounds, but the inside is even better, as it is set up to be like a museum with lots of detail about its history and the artifacts found during renovation. You can drive your car up, but it is quite tight. I would recommend walking. The cemetery around the grounds are fascinating, and parts of the old town walls are still standing. Must see if in Youghal imo.

Beautiful church located in the heart of Youghal. So much history in one building and also the adjoining graveyard. The acoustics in the church are spectacular. Make sure to visit the coffin in the wall and head to the college gardens a short walk from the church

This is an amazing church that has been in continuous use since the 12th century. Well worth the visit - just a beautiful structure. You can walk on the ramparts of the original city walls that surround part of the cemetery as well. Deserves at least an hour - well worth stopping in Youghal to see it.

Beautiful. Really beautiful. Especially with the graveyard around it.
It's looking very historical and nice. I'm from Germany and have seen the cathedrals from cologne and Paderborn and I wasn't as much impressed. It looks way more historic and is really nice. You can also get a nice view over the town from the top of the old city walls at the top of the graveyard.

If you are any way into history or architecture, this church is a must see in Youghal.
The church dates back to the 12th century and is in excellent condition, even the original wooden roof is in place. It is insane that it is still standing, let alone in such good condition.
Richard Boyle (Earl of cork) who built lots of towns around Munster is buried here and his mausoleum is like nothing I have ever seen. There are many interesting items such as a stained glass window with family crests embedded in it, a silver sword and many crypts and a massive organ. There are also walks around the outside original Norman walls.

Great fun for the kids, arcade eats money. Could spend a truck of money. But good for a treat for the kids, food good, play area for kids is not too expensive. Lots to do. Might as well leave tickets in the machine its not worth taking them. Kids loved wining them but 500 tickets will get you a 1 euro prise at best and that will be at least 100 euro in the machines. But will go back again as kids loved playing all the games going on the rides great variety of games to play

After a hard days work I wasn’t looking forward to a children’s party of 12 seven year olds.
From the moment we stepped into perks it was absolutely effortless.
The lovely girl at reception desk was super efficient.
(I’m sorry I don’t remember her name) she took the food order & having a few dietary requirements it was handled with “no problem whatsoever” & even managed to conceal the different order from the other kids.
Another lovely young lady Emma, looked after our every need. She was super patient with the kids & they absolutely loved her.
The adults sat peacefully with a delicious burger, a lovely Costa coffee & a chat, didn’t have to lift a finger. After almost 3 hours of fun we packed up & went home to a clean house. (Another bonus)
Perks covered everything, from food, drinks, birthday cake, party bags & even a gift for the birthday girl.
I highly recommend perks parties & they cater for all ages.
We are so lucky in Youghal to have it at our doorstep.
Thank you perks team, we will be back soon.

Awful experience regarding the Jungle gym area, my Autistic son was refused entry as he was over the height restriction by 2 inches. Didnt care that he had special needs and how much of an impact it would have on him ,they obviously need training and should not promote that they are ASD friendly. Have been to other soft play areas and height is never an issue regarding ASD children.

Always a treat to come here. Absolutely sensory overload -the crowds, the noise, the lights, the sounds from the machines and action everywhere!
Pure old-skool arcade with plenty of machines malfunctioning but the staff are quick to jump in and fix the problem or give a free go.
The ticket-eater machines in and of themselves are fun and you get to collect a prize at the end.
Some machines are only 50 cent.
Good selection of games, cheap food&coffee.
Soft play is a good space and setup and only 5 euro entry for a 4 year old.
Toilets are a little unkempt at times but nothing solid to complain about.

Very enjoyable afternoon at Perks. Majority of the games are €1 and you get plenty of time on them. My son loved the play area in particular which was €6 for an hours play. The food was very tasty & not too expensive. The games aren't overly priced but you would spend alot of money without realising it.

We went there thinking it would be a great, safe and fun place. It was fun for the first minute and it was massive, but then this teenager and presumably his little brother came up to us and started saying "My brother wants to ask you something, no, he does, no, he does." (Basically harassing us) And no staff were aware of these people probably harassing other people.
We then played a few games but they came up to us again. The teen started spraying water on us. We had enough and gave out to them.
We said we were going to leave, so we went to the reception (I can't remember what it was) and we told staff that these two kids were harassing us and we gave the staff our tickets that we won, and they did absolutely NOTHING ABOUT IT! (Not as far as we could see)
We then left, got into our car, but it turned out that they followed us out of the building! We were hoping they didn't see us in the car, but they did...
I won't even describe what happened next, all I want you to know is that this story is not fake.
Never come here, please, it's not safe.

It's good, typical amusement centre really, arcade prices are cheaper than others similar places like Tramore etc ..
This is good when 2 or more kids with you, although still seemed like my money disappeared within minutes....but, don't go there if you expect any different.
Great range of gaming machines, plenty of choice for any kind, young or old I reckon.
Great diner there too which serve nice proper food which surprised me to be honest considering it's an amusement place but was as good if not better than any other chipper around.
All staff throughout seemed very friendly and helpful when asked anything.
Toilets were clean and usable too which is a bonus these days in some places.
I would recommend it to anyone with kids looking to pass a couple of hours or more and have food sorted too.
Not a whole lot of parking available for the size of the place, would have expected a bigger car park.

So much to offer for the kids and at a reasonable price. The horse racing game is great for adults and the young fella that does the voiceover for who's winning in the race is gas! All the young people working down there are lovely tbf. We went down there for Christmas for Santa and that was good especially the price. Santa was a bit quiet but not all Santa's are the same ❤️ he still did a fantastic job. Youghal people are class and hard worker's.

It might be a good place for kids but omg the food is another matter they have written on the window where you order all food made to order if this is the case why is the food not hot have been there 5 or 6 times in last few weeks and had to return food for being cold and even yesterday my husband got food and the chips were cold and the rest of his meal was only Luke warm he wouldn't go back up to counter with it I didn't have anything yesterday as I'm not going to pay for cold or barely warm food if they cooking to order they must have a problem with fryers have been here both weekends and mid week in summer and the food is very seldom any better than Luke warm at best

Never heard of perks before so said I would go up see what the place offers. I didn't realise how big this place actually was inside it has arcades and also kids boats trampolines and bikes all thisnis inside you have to buy tokens to use the above which cost 2.50 for each token thought it was quite expensive especially if you have a few kids going. They also have a bowling alley was 18 euro for half hour which is enough time because the kids get board after 20 mins they have a dining area I can't comment as I didn't eat in there. They have a soft play area which is 6 euro for an hour i thought it wZ very very good and quite big and open lots for the kids to do. Overall it's a nice place lots to do for the children but u wpuld want a nice few pound if u have more then one child going.
