This trekking trip was amazing! My daughters and I really enjoyed ourselves. It was a combination of walk, trot, and a bit of cantering. The views were spectacular. The horses are incredibly well-trained and I felt very comfortable with Peter and his crew. This was the highlight of our vacation--great job, Peter! We had so much fun.
Sarah Gaudiano — Google review
Immensely exciting horseback riding experience. Beautiful landscapes and views of 3 different attractions, incredible tour guide, darling horses. I even got the chance to canter! It was exhilarating and I’d love to come back sometime! Guaranteed you will not find a better horseback riding tour in all of Ireland, I reviewed 10 different places and am so glad I picked this one!
Melody Kazarian — Google review
My grandma and I went on the dirt trek. Despite it being a rainy day, it was a lot of fun. The views were beautiful and the countryside was peaceful. Neither of us are experienced riders, but Peter was extremely nice and patient. It was a fantastic experience!

The highlight of our trip to Clare! We did the 2 hour mountain trek with Peter as our guide, he told us lots about the local history along the way as well as recommendations of where to go for food and drink which also did not disappoint. Great value for 2 hours of riding and I felt very comfortable as someone who hadn’t been on a horse in several years. I will definitely be back again!

Once in a lifetime experience! Everyone was SO lovely and easy to deal with. The horses are all absolutely gorgeous and I'm prepared to smuggle my fabulous horse 'Guiness' back home to Australia with me. My dream come true to ride one of the cob horses.
The horses are kept immaculately and obviously so well loved.
Peter is also a fantastic guide. I could have stayed riding all day! He catered for all levels of riders.
Thank you soooooo much!
The views are some that you wouldn't see anywhere else in the world. Highly recommend this team of people and horses 💕

Lovely place to ride and take in the scenery! Trotted along some nice quiet country lanes and had a little bit of a canter up amongst the hills. The staff were friendly and helpful and had no problem adjusting the ride to suit different experience levels. (They also gave some great tips of other local things to do while we were in the area). Thanks for a great ride!

Have you dreamed of riding through a magnificent forest and across a verdant landscape on the back of a beautiful horse with a long, flowing mane? Would you want an experienced, attentive guide who would tell you stories about the land and its history? Would you want to walk, trot, or canter? Do you picture yourself as a beginner, or an experienced rider? Do you ride with a friend, a loved one, or go solo? Whatever your dream is, I expect you'll find that some or all of that dream will be fulfilled here.
This was the best part of our vacation, and if I lived nearby, Mountain View wouldn't be able to get rid of me. Peter (an exceedingly accomplished rider) is an incredible guide and caters his rides to riders of different abilities by having two guides for each ride. Everybody gets what they want and will enjoy themselves, whether it's walking, trotting, or cantering and enjoying the magnificent power of the horse beneath you. The scenery is gorgeous and Peter brings it to life with stories about his family, the land, and the history of the area. I simply cannot recommend Mountain View enough. Go! You will make memories for a lifetime.

Best decision I made this holiday! I wanted to hike the Burren Way but decided to do the Burren Trek (3 hours) with Peter. The horses are beautiful, well trained and Peter and his staff were able to give everyone a trip based on their experience in horse riding. The views were phenomenal and I had so much fun! Thank you 😊
lalawoman — Google review
We had a great time on our 2 hour trekking adventure with Peter! He was hilarious and also quite knowledgeable about the area and it's history, making sure to point out and explain what was around.
The ride was broken up by a few times to trot at a comfortable pace. Peter was attentive about everyone's comfort and kept checking in with us, stopping to adjust stirrups to be sure we were all good to go and also took two pictures for us to remember our adventure by. Would absolutely go out with them again.
The drive out there is on a tight back road but not a lot of traffic and totally worth it. They also had clean restrooms we used before and after. Horses may be better suited for those with some animal or horse experience as they did want to do their own thing at times and my horse Socks certainly did try to test what he could get away with as far as grazing and following too close or not keeping up during trotting but gentle reminders to stay in line and keep up and he didn't ignore me if I stayed firm with my instructions. (Give them an inch and they'll take a mile, much like my dog at home 😅💜) Lived Socks though he was great.

Did a 2 hour ride today and it was incredible. Peter & his staff were so friendly and the land we rode on was flat out gorgeous. Horses were well behaved and well cared for. So happy I chose a great company to check off an item on my bucket list. I’ll be back!
Maren Flanigan — Google review
If I could give this tour more that 5 stars I would in a heartbeat.
Hands down one of the best experiences we have ever had… we are not at all horse riders (my daughter 21 had never even been on a horse) Peter made sure she was safe and comfortable along with everyone else on the tour. What a fabulous trek/day. We did the 2 hour tour and thought it would be very long but time flew by and we wished it would never end 🐎🩵
Tierre Diepholz — Google review
Brought my daughter here last year and she really enjoyed it. Came back again this year and ended up doing the dirt trek myself with my 9 year old daughter having never been on a horse before. Peter is so nice and made sure I was 100% comfortable as a first timer. Highly recommend. Lovely views and the guide was so nice aswell. Will definitely be back

Caherconnell Stone Fort is a medieval ring fort located in Clare, Ireland. It was built between 400-1200AD as a defensive settlement to protect the inhabitants from wild animals or raiders. The fort has been remarkably preserved and appears to have been rebuilt in the 15th-16th century. Visitors can experience unique sheepdog demonstrations at this site, which showcases Border collies rounding up sheep.
This was a fantastic place to visit. The inside staff were very friendly, the food was excellent but the absolute highlight was the guide who took us around the fort. She was very knowledgeable about the history of the area and was clearly very experienced in explaining it to others. She was great. We'd definitely recommend the fort tour to anyone with an interest in history.
David Straughan — Google review
We stopped by on our drive through Burren and had not scheduled our drive to correspond to the sheep dog demonstrations. They are currently taking place at 11:15 and 14:15. Unfortunately we arrived at 2:45. We paid 6 euros each and visited the stone fort. They have a 25-min video you can watch as well as a walk through the fort. They provide a nice educational brochure to help. It is very uneven so you need good shoes to walk around it.
They also have a cafe/ restaurant/ shop on sight. We asked to see the sheep and dogs in their kennels just through a different door but they said no because we missed the demonstration. Seemed ridiculous as it was only use and a couple other small groups there.
We didn’t find the staff particularly nice. I would suggest more flexibility if you want to drawn in more crowds and have repeat visitors
Terri Griffin — Google review
Great shop, lovely food and coffee at cafe, sheepdogs were very entertaining to watch, and the tour of the fort was very interesting. Would definitely come back again!
Thomas — Google review
Completely charming experience. The guide who gave us a 45-minute tour of the ring fort was so knowledgable and enthusiastic. The sheep herding demonstration was really interesting and the dogs were amazing. The shepherd was friendly and taught us all a lot. We even got to hold brand-newborn lambs and pet the dogs. The cafe was delicious. Absolutely will recommend to everyone who visits this area.
Nora Grenager — Google review
We really enjoyed stopping here for the dog show. It was an off the beaten path activity. It was fun to see the dogs in action & to talk with the shepherd afterwards. He’s the real deal with a thick Irish accent and an abundance of good stories.
Tori Hopkin — Google review
Really interesting guided tour and fun sheepdog demonstration. The dogs are so cute and you can pet them after they’ve finished their show. The shepherd also explains how the dogs are trained and the breeds of sheep.
Alexandra Stephens — Google review
Dog lovers delight. Great for adults and kids. Fun to watch the dogs work the sheep at the blow of a whistle.
The cafe is wonderful. Tasty sandwiches and pies, along with tasty coffee drinks. The hot chocolate with pink marshmallows made the girls day.

We are an Australian couple who visited Caherconnell Fort and we thought the whole experience was excellent. We did a tour with Stephanie Clark the archeologist and really enjoyed her commentary and the insights she shared about the people who lived in the fort over time.
The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed great coffee and fruit scones. We would recommend the Caherconnell Fort to others.
Barb Kelly — Google review
This was a great little roadside stop in the Burren! Would highly recommend. We didn't see the fort but the sheepdog demonstration was really fun - interesting, charming, and a skill set we knew nothing about. Definitely worth a stop!
Colleen Denny — Google review
What a neat experience! Our family loved the sheepdog demo and our kids loved it. They both insisted on a souvenir from the gift shop. They also had a lovely cafe with sandwiches and cakes. My latte wasn’t the best but everything else was good.
Lisa Matuszewski — Google review
Great experience looking and hearing about the history of the fort and everything around it. The working dogs are just amazing, you have to see to believe how well they do
James Stuart — Google review
Had a very enjoyable afternoon in Caherconnell with three American guests on a one day tour of the Burren. Tom gave a very informative tour of the ring fort and then we enjoyed a sheep dog demonstration.
Margaret Leahy — Google review
Terrific visit! Must stop when in Co Clare, The Burren. Greg is a masterful craftsman in handling his four sheep dogs during the sheep dog demonstration. The tour that followed led by Sean gave our group real insight into how our forefathers lived here in their ancient stone fort. All wrapped up by a display of iron ore making, smelting & forging … which literally brought us back 1000 years! True time travel in a very informative afternoon visit. Big thanks to Overland Ireland for taking us here, to Sean & the whole Cather team for a really good experience.
Bridgette Brew — Google review
We only went to see the fort, not the sheepdog show. Before entering there's a 18 minute video explaining the history of the site which is worth watching. There's not much of the fort itself, so it's a 30 minute visit, hence why they've paired it with the other show.
Plenty of parking, nice little café on site too
Neil Campbell — Google review
incredible history and tour guide who walked us through the thousands of years at this very fort - gave us a glimpse into the unique history of this county, and we even got to experience the sheepdog demo too - incredible how the shepherd works with his sheepdog and great hospitality from the folks who run this awesome attraction!
Natasha Wong — Google review
Fantastic stop off. Would highly recommend the sheep dog demonstration. Cafe was lovely and nice to look around the little shop.
Jennifer Elliott — Google review
Our visit to Caherconnell was one of the highlights of our trip to Ireland. We love dogs and it was amazing to see the skill of the border collies. The owner of the farm was very kind and let us interact with the dogs after the herding demonstration. He even let my kids hold a lamb.
There was a nice gift shop as well and my wife found a beautiful wool sweater that she loves. We stopped at the cafe on site too for coffee and were quite lucky that we were just in time for a harp and fiddle performance.
All in all it was a very memorable experience.
Chris Gabriel — Google review
This is a very good demonstration of how well they train the dogs. It’s impressive to see.
We had a taste of whiskey at the end in the little cafe.
We bought a sandwich and latte, Yum!
They have some shopping for trinkets and souvenirs.
I’m glad we stopped and got to experience them!!
Chris Rankin — Google review
Wonderful experience! Aaron, doing the sheep dog demo, was amazing! His skill in commanding the border collies to do their job was incredible! He was very personable, kind, informative and humorous. I learned so much! Tom, leading the tour of the stone fort, was also a great presenter; humorous, well informed, and had great rapport with our group. Well done, Aaron and Tom! The gift shop was a very pleasant surprise, where we were able to get many of our souvenirs and gifts for ourselves, friends and family that we hadn’t seen in other stores. Great selection of quality items! Caherconnell is a definite place to visit at anytime! This was a real highlight of our trip😁
Cathie Olson — Google review
We went there to see the Sheepdog demonstration since we heard it was fun. Since we didn't make it on time for the last show, we took a guided tour of the local site. It was fun and educational. The guide was funny and took the time to show us all around the site, showing how it all began, and practically showing us how it was to live in the old days...
Highly recommended!
Great local collection from very early ( pre historic ) and though the centuries. Well worth a visit if your interested in history. Centre of Ennis car park very close

This was a quaint museum that gives you a great history of the county. I was especially taken with the oral history captured from several residents and available to hear in the museum. We all found it well worth the time.

Very good Museum and gives you a basic history of Clare.A good range or artefacts found all over Co Clare over the years. It is a pity all those artefacts are on loan from the National Museum. The admission is free and a great way to spend a wet day or any day.Expec to spend at least one hour. The area covers two floors.
Well worth a visit.

Interesting with a lot of diverse subjects.
Must go there if you're in Ennis.
Ennis Friary is a historic landmark located in the town of Ennis, built by Franciscan monks in the late 13th century. The ruins showcase Gothic architecture with an impressive limestone carving of St Francis and the MacMahon tomb dating back to 1470AD. The friary was once a significant center for learning in Europe housing up to 300 Friars and 600 students at its peak.
A charming monastery (perhaps one of the most ancient in Ireland), you can have a look at the restored part, then go to the most intact and authentic one.
The ticket is free of charge until December 2021!
Aurora Bertona — Google review
Ennis is on the way to Limerick, stopped to see the friary. Small place. They built a roof over the nave so that they can keep the elements from eating away at the sculptures.
Place was a Franciscan friary, then a jail and courthouse. Later a heritage site. Apparently the monk's residence is now the pub next door. They found remains of the old floor during renovations
Worth a visit since we have the OPW heritage card. Spent about 45 mins. The staff will give a short explanation on the place as you enter. There's a picture treasure hunt for kids. If they found everything there's a small gift.

Public works maintained, great historical site. Surrounding city is charming.

Very interesting Friary in centre of Ennis, it even has a roof.
Chester Draws — Google review
Ennis Friary has been the town`s focal point since the thirteenth century. It has been a Franciscan household, under the patronage of the O'Brien Kings of Thomond, a courthouse, a jail and, more recently, a Church of Ireland parish church. You can visit the sacristy, an impressive structure with ribbed, barrel-vaulted ceiling, the administrative centre of the friary. Today it is a national monument under the care of the Office of Public Works.

Susanne Hummel — Google review
Definitely worth a visit. A guide gives you a brief historical overview then you are free to wander around the places. It's very well maintained and there are lots of cool carved details in the walls and in the graveyard. The main area is covered, so this is a perfect rainy day activity.
Bill — Google review
Beautiful place. I spent a good bit of time there. It’s a little sad to see what has become of the building when it was devoted to God and to the poor. But that’s history. I was glad to see it and to remember that all things are temporary.
Dale Huntington — Google review
A beautiful and stunningly well preserved abbey. The guides are prepared and can tell you more about the history of the old church and the city of Ennis. Tickets cost 5€ for adults
Luca Toscano — Google review
I appreciate the friendly and knowledgeable staff taking their time to give us the history of the Friary. It is older than I could have imagined and has a lot of history! I appreciate that they are preserving the history of this place!
Katie Lovelace — Google review
Great historial place and lovely staff. They make a short presentation about the history of the friary bur there are lots of pannels with explanations. It is a must
Monica Rodriguez — Google review
Whilst Ennis itself isn't a particularly inspiring Irish town, the Friary, and history behind it was very interesting, and OPW have done a great job in maintaining the buildings. The guide was very informative and help provide context to the infrastructure. We'll worth a visit!
The Aughnanure Castle is a large, 16th-century fortress that can be explored inside and out. It features gargantuan fireplaces and a watchtower that you can climb. The castle was originally built by the OFlaherty family, who were a prominent lord family in the region. Over the centuries, it has changed hands on several occasions before being reclaimed by the OFlaherty family.
Our family loved visiting Aughnanure Castle for its beauty, friendly staff and peaceful location. A perfect memory was made when we came across two very talented musicians, who brought in a harp and guitar, playing in the tower. We were treated to a concert of beautiful and well-suited music. The acoustics were simply perfect. What a treat! A bit off the beaten path and beautiful. We hope to return!
Barbara Bridges — Google review
Only one other couple there so it’s always nice when the place isn’t overrun by tourists. Cool castle, but what’s left is pretty small. The room inside has a couple of neat things to look at. Overall, I would recommend a visit if you’re in the area.
Nathalie Heitz — Google review
Very reasonable entry fee. Steep and narrow steps to get all the way to the top floor of the castle. I got a bit dizzy coming down them. Interesting information about how the wealthy lived there.
Lona Fox — Google review
Admission was free today and the place was open. Its was raining lightly so made the place more mysterious. The Car park is free at the entrance. Just park and follow the sign into the gate on your right. Keep walking on the narrow road, past the grazing horses to your right and the castle is visible on your left. You will pass a pond-like lake initially opening into a moat like area next to the castle. Lovely place for a stroll. The grounds inside are vast and has a raw kind of beauty. There is a leaflet and information for self-guided tour. Just imagine the place on a sunny day.
Hema Nanthne — Google review
Very much worth the trip! Entrance fee was $5 per adult, and the information throughout was really interesting and informative. Very narrow staircase to the top of the tower but that is optional-the whole area gives perspective on the daily lives of this clan. Recommend to go early as it's a popular place.
Joshua Hamman — Google review
Great castle with very nice staff. Loved all the areas to explore and story of the yew trees.
Natalie Abkarian — Google review
I might be a little biased as this is part of my family's heritage, but I loved the amount of information they had on the castle. I learned so much that I never knew and can't wait to share it with the rest of my family.
Alison Clifton — Google review
Very informative self tour. The welcoming gents manning the entrance were very open to questions and it was obvious they love their jobs as we discussed the castle with them. Not busy at all, off the main road a bit this was an impulse visit based on seeing the sign for it and we are so glad we did!
Brian Roth — Google review
The staff were incredibly knowledgeable! Giles gave us more information than an entire history course and made it incredibly interesting. Could have stayed for hours and listened to the history of the place and the surrounding countryside. The structure is well preserved and they allow you to actually go into the main tower. Not on the roof, however, as it's too dangerous.
Tristan Greenlaw — Google review
Small but with a lot of information. You're able to go up the tower and see the rooms and all the little secret spots. You learn about the history of the tower as well as who has lived there in a lot more detail than I expected. Please remember not to climb the walls. There are signs all around saying that, but people still seem to have a hard time obeying them. The views are gorgeous and there's a river that runs right by the castle which makes the places very tranquil.
Jessalyn Wing — Google review

This was my favorite stop on the tour I was on. Our guide, Giles, was very informative and has a passion for history. The tower castle and surrounding land brings you back to when it was built. It is fascinating that the tower castle is intact. Highly recommend visiting!

Nice tower-castle, well maintained even if a part went lost along the centuries. Worth a visit with enough time to read and understand the connection between its stories and its structure.
Andrea Daviddi — Google review
Very interesting castle and some ruins. What made the experience outstanding was the voiceover from the tour guide and the exceptional passion of the docents we talked with after the tour. The guides were well-steeped in the history of the castle and explained minute details to us. Really great.
B Shurlock — Google review
One of the best castles I've ever been in. Great to be able to get inside the structure and see all the different rooms. Would love to have got out on the roof but the very knowledgeable guide informed us it had to be closed because of regular "jumpers". Very good visit and not expensive on a family ticket. Really enjoyed it and the guide even directed us to a tree on the way in that was over a thousand years old.
The Burren National Park is a magical and stunning landscape of cliffs, rock formations, and lakes. It's home to many rare plants and animals, including otters, mink, lizards, and ravens. The park was awarded UNESCO Global Geopark status in 2011 because of the international importance of its geological heritage.
Not sure if it was just Google maps taking us on an adventure but we travelled along many narrow farm type roads to get to the Burren national park.
It's unusual to experience a park that consists of rock formations as far as the eye can see.
The rocks were amazing and we wish we had more time to explore a bit longer and do a few hikes.
We still enjoyed this special terrain none the less
Andre Hackart — Google review
This location pinpoint is the starting place for all the well marked trails from the official website. Car parking is the side of the road and free. We did the blue Mullaghmore loop and it took us ~2.5 hours with a stop at the top to eat lunch. It’s a lovely walk, not too difficult but requires you to climb up rocks and not always on a normal path. I would do the same trail again if I was in the area!
Maegen Dudas — Google review
If you're keen on Geology, great photographic shots, and a bit of history, this is then a definite add to your 'Ireland bucket list'.
The Burren is renowned for its remarkable assemblage of plants and animals, and over 70% of Ireland's species of flowers are found there.
It's quite a drive but the views are incredible, take with your hiking boots and enjoy the trails.

I found fossils at the top! If you like that sort of thing, this place is good for finding them. I found my first amonite here.
I don't do the spandex and two sticks sort of hiking. I wear my leather boots, which have good grip but aren't from mountain wearhouse. The 'red route' was easy enough for myself and my partner - neither of us are that sporty and the view from the top was a blessing!
We were lucky with the sunlight and it suited the heat there. The bleak hills became like a desert. There were lovely goats all over the place and strange stones about.

There is a walk there, the purple walk, it's so great there! Every time a friend of mine comes to visit I bring them there. The walk is lovely and there is a tea house at the end with amazing brownies!

Excellent location for a hike. The sounds of the birds on a sunny day is wonderful. The climb can be a little risky on the vertical parts and loose rubble but with care it is very much worth the visit and walk.
Brian Cleary — Google review
Special place with a landscape that teases the imagination.
It's possible to park closer to the park than the designated parking area on google maps by turning right at the crossroad. There is verge parking available along the road outside the stonewall entrance into the park. You will save yourself some unnessary walking.
Features variety of walks of different lenghts, the longer ones over difficult terran. Those featured on the parks map are very well marked.
Look out for 300 millon year old fossilised choral in the limestone.

The Burren Perfumery is a charming floral centre that produces scented items like candles, perfumes and soaps. The perfumery takes inspiration from the wildflowers of The Burren, and boasts of an herb garden and blending area where ingredients for herbal teas are sourced. Visitors can explore the flower gardens while enjoying dishes at its tearoom which uses these organic ingredients.
Super cute visit here today!! It's a bit quiet as it's the winter months but the ladies working there were lovely and let us watch a short film about the botany of the burden which was lovely! Picked up a couple of nice soaps to take home but will be looking online for gifts from here in the future as there were some Beautiful gift sets. Id say when the herb garden is in full bloom it's heavenly but even now it's worth a visit :)

A gorgeous little place tucked away in the Hills. If you are in Ireland, touring...put this place on your list to visit. The tearoom has cakes and pastries which are delicious and healthy meals. Take a walk through the Garden... outstanding views. The shop selling perfume, soaps, body and face products...is amazing. Great place to visit!

We had an amazing visit today. We looked at Google maps which said they closed at 6pm. Arrived at 4:56 pm and saw the door to the tea room read they closed at 5 pm. When we asked to be certain, the kind clerk voiced we were welcome and they would serve us. We ordered a fruit scone, a plain scone, and a slice of apple cake! Best cake we have had our whole visit to Ireland! We had tea for two (my daughter and I) and my husband had coffee. Everything was wonderful! We then visited the perfumery shop and watched a delightful video over the nature and flora of the Burren. I ended up purchasing a absolutely fantastic perfume (summer harvest) and three bars of their soap. The staff were extremely kind and helpful and receptive to us coming with only moments to spare before closing. I would recommend this place without question, but definitely go earlier as we missed seeing a lot while there! It is off the beaten path while touring the Burren and not open to coaches which was exactly what we wanted!

Very nice shop, and it smells beautiful!
Plenty of parking.
My wife loved it. I would say that for the quality of their products, and the fact that they are made there, the price is reasonable.
As you look at the products, you may also try some samples.
And at the checkout, the lady was kind enough to offer my wife to sample the product (lip balm) before she paid for it.
We didn't go to the coffee shop, but if you are in the area, I think it is a good place to stop, refuel yourself and keep going!

Absolutely adorable setup they've got. Striking area geographically. Peaceful and calm. Had a wonderful tea and cake. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Not into perfume at all but got some lovely soap to take home as gifts.

This is a perfect treat on The Burren. Definitely recommend popping in for a cup of tea, piece of cake and a sniff of all the lovely products. Bought some lovely gifts for back home and myself too.

Amazing discovery in a picture perfect location. Perfume tour (free) was very informative and all staff were friendly and very helpful.
They even had a 3.7kw car charger available (although this may be for staff use, but I got a cheeky 1hr charge!)
Only thing missing was a wider selection of hot drinks in the cafe, as i feel that this would encourage more people to stay that bit longer and maybe purchase more of their amazing products.
100% recommend.

I'd give this place 10 stars if I could. It's better like all places if the sun is shining, its so so relaxing. The food is so good and all made onsite. The have extended the gardens so more to enjoy.the shop and products are amazing. I bought my first Man of Aran scent for my husband 33 years ago.

A magical stop off the wild Atlantic way. It's quite the fairytale setting. They have a nice lunch for you as well.

My mom and I came here just as they opened in the morning. It's truly a gem and we loved the whole experience. The garden was incredible and the tea room didn't disappoint either. My mom and I both agreed they had the best scones in Ireland. The staff were all very kind. You could tell they enjoyed their work. We bought some perfume and balms and it was one of our favorite mornings spent in Ireland. I highly recommend visiting.

The scenery of this little perfumery is so beautiful. We went this March so I can’t imagine how pretty the garden must be in the summer. All of the staff are very friendly. They make lovely cakes and afternoon tea in the tea room. You can also sit outside on a nice sunny day and have tea in their small patio area. The selection of perfumes and skincare products is very broad and suitable to many different tastes.

I first visited the Burren Perfumery in the early 1990s, when the little cluster of buildings was far more open to the Burren, and honestly it felt a little ... I suppose the word is vulnerable?
I went back to it again 2 decades later and it feels very different. It no longer feels vulnerable and exposed, as the trees have been allowed to grow around and through it, and the various flowerbeds and pots are now well established with lots of life and colour all year around.
You can check out the process of making perfumes and soaps in the Blending Room and the Soap Room, wander the pretty Herb Garden, and browse the products in the Shop, and enjoy lunch, teas, coffees and DELICIOUS cakes in the Tea Room - but be warned, it's usually busy, especially in the high season.

Well worth drive to get to.
Would recommend road that goes past the pancake area of the burren .
Don't be gooled like us by small car park in lay-by near top of drive as car park st bottom pretty snd plenty of space.
It is free to enter as is guided tour and
Delightful film about the burren and
Talk about blending.
Herb garden relaxing and mist beautifull tulips.
Cafe onsite serves only organic food.
Menu simple but food outstanding.
Cake selection unusual.
Flower teas midt unique.
Loved hand wash facility at toilets as could try perfumery on hand-wash soaps.
A most relaxing place.
Staff all informative and pleased to chat about history of place

A spectacular place situated in a rural setting in the Burren. Its shop has unique and exceptionally good quality perfumes and soaps amongst other items. It also has the loveliest restaurant with the purest and healthiest of food. Perfect and well worth a visit.

A local suggested we come here and I’m so glad we did, because it’s not somewhere I would’ve picked on my own. We went on a weekday and it wasn’t busy. Interesting but delicious food options, beautiful rock buildings and gardens, and knowledgeable staff. The perfumes smelled wonderful and I actually bought a bottle to bring home and everyone loves it. It’s so hidden from the road too!

What a magical place set within the Buen Geoscape. The beautiful setting of the buildings amongst cosy gardens. Lovely helpful staff explaining the complex properties of each beautiful perfume. Wide range of skin products and a cafe with cakes to die for. Well worth seeking out.
Liz Armstrong — Google review
A first class experience! Even though they were without power, the wonderful staff managed to open and provided the full perfume "tasting" experience: all four Burren scents plus four season-inspired perfumes. Like a good wine tasting, each perfume was unpacked for its underlying aromas. The unrushed and no pressure testing was just the off-the-beaten-track experience I value. For a homemade perfume, not too expensive either.

Lovely little shop in the heart of the Burren national park where you can buy soaps, scented candles, and perfumes, as well as see and learn how they make them.

Awesome discovery! The Byrren Perfumery was recommended by Maura .. a delightful woman I met in the market at Galway. First of all the drive to the perfumery was magical; garden delightful; and then of course the highlight was the tour with Patricia & listening to the engaging owner speak passionately about their operation. I must have tried on every lotion. Later kept thinking about the perfume I left on the shelf. Will order it when I get back to Canada!!
Salthill Promenade is a beautiful place to take a stroll and enjoy the gorgeous Irish coastline in the summer months. In addition to its stunning views, the promenade features many historic bars, little trinket shops, and yummy ice cream spots.
We loved walking up and down the prom during our stay! We couldn’t believe the winter swimmers (we call that a polar bear dip 😉🇨🇦)

There is a nice long footpath for walking. The beach is just ok for me, not that big or long. It is really lovely to walk here as the breeze from the ocean is really refreshing. You can park along the road for free.

In my opinion there is nowhere as fabulous as the Prom in Salthill. It is a fantastic flat walk along the seafront suitable for wheelchairs buggies rollerskating and kids scooters. The view is amazing and you can walk right into the city of Galway. Parking is free but difficult to get particularly at weekends. The sunsets are spectacular and if you gave never seen it then you are really missing out

My visit to the Prom was on a cold, wet & windy day but still managed to get out and walk for a while before the rain got too heavy. It was great to be able to see the islands from the shoreline. Even though the weather wasn't great, the people I met were nice & friendly and more than happy to stop & point you in the right direction or just give a suggestion on where to visit next. I hope to visit again on a better day when I have more time to investigate.

Lovely area to walk and experience Galway bay at its fullest. Lots of people swimming and diving of Blackrock. Definitely a place to visit is in Galway City only ten minutes from city centre by car
Great Location. Great Hosts. Great beds. Great showers. Fully equipped kitchen. Peacful. Safe. Car-park tight but great to have as option.
The only thing for consideration is getting a comfortable sofa as, nowhere comfortable for the parents to chill watching a movie.
Overall a great place to stay and would definitely stay there again....(there were 2 adults and 4 teens on our trip)

The Galway Cathedral is a renaissance-style Catholic cathedral that was completed in 1965. The architecture has Romanesque influences, Gothic influences, and Renaissance influences. It is located in the old city of Galway.
I visited the Cathedral on a cold & blustery day whilst waiting for my mum who was up visiting in UHG. When I walked in the door I was surprised by the space and dark walls but also the light that came through the stained glass windows and the silence even though there were alot of people walking around. Although the pews were marked out for social distance there was no problem moving in & out of them. As I had a good bit of time I just sauntered around with trying to take everything in. I met a lovely person who very kindly offered me a Miraculous Medal for my ill relative and also included him in their prayers later that day. Whilst I spent at least an hour looking at all the decorative mosaics, various stained glass windows that had been donated through the years, the model of the Cathedral, organ and various displays dotted around the i side I didn't feel rushed and probably have spent more time. It cost 1.50e to park for the hour and had no problem finding a spot but there is another carkpark accross the road where you can park all day for 6.50e

Absolutely beautiful cathedral. Came in whilst visiting the Galway area and I was absolutely blown away by the stained glass windows and enormous statues inside.
There is a ton of seating the front, sides and rear of the main alter and I’d love to visit again for mass.
The shop sells amazing items including beautiful marble rosaries and religious items for all occasions.
Definitely stop in if you’re passing by!

This is a holy place - while roaming on the streets of Galway, we came across this place and decided to explore. This holy place is a very huge worship place, it was amazingly calm and full of positive vibrations … we sat there for an hour without saying a single word and we felt like we were recharged - rejuvenated….!! There is a shop within the cathedral where all the holy books and souvenirs of Christianity are available to purchase. There is a paid lavatory too in the cathedral. It has the huge parking lot too.

What I liked most in Galway is the Cathedral and the Eucharistic adoration happening in the Cathedral Church.
It is a must visit place if you are in Galway and you will be filled with the Peace and Joy of Christ.

Beautiful cathedral with gorgeous stained glass windows, domes, arches and architecural accents. There are several different intimate areas to pray and the mosiacs are remarkable. Their gift shop has wonderful locally made Celtic crafts and religious items. A special thanks to Mary in the gift shop who was incredibly patient as we asked many questions and she helped us find the most perfect nativity scene and to Monsignor Rabbitte who blessed our nativity scene, which will become a family heirloom. The Cathedral is a must visit while you are visiting Galway! You can truly feel the presence of God. Thank you for making us feel so welcome!

I'm not a Christian by any means but I do appreciate the serenity of a location and this has it. We visited St Mary's in Dingle and that serenity was lacking. The building was more modern than expected but the colours in the dome and from the stained glass were sublime. Sometimes I envy people their faith and get the fact that buildings like this can reinforce it.
I won't be converted to religion any time soon but I think we'd be worse off without places like this where you can come and reflect regardless of your spiritual leanings.

Pretty boring for a Catholic cathedral. Nice walk there along the river, but just not much to see here. I took a picture of the liturgy schedule for Easter for those who are interested in those things.

Galway Cathedral is a stunning architectural masterpiece, with its imposing Gothic-style structure and intricate detailing. Famous cathedral situated in the heart of Galway. When you see the details, it really makes you want to sit there and pray. It is one of Irelands tourist spots, and it's good that everyone can see and get amazed by the beauty of the church, but see it and respect it as a Church, not as an art museum.

Despite its relatively new construction when compared to thé older European cathedrals, the feeling was similar. It’s well worth the visit.
Furthermore, I found the parishioners to be friendly and welcoming. I’m not a catholic, but I sat in for a mass. I especially enjoyed the priests calm delivery and the wonderful choir.

Beautiful Cathedral! Must visit if you're visiting Galway. Entrance is free. Parking is paid. Around €2 per hour l with day max being €8 at the time of writing this review. There's another parking lot about 700m away that's €6.75 for all day. Inside of the Cathedral is spectacular and so peaceful. We parked here and visited the Cathedral and rest of town of Galway. 2 hours were enough to check it all out and have brunch nearby at Esquires Coffee.

Check the website for Mass times. What a stunning structure; inside and out! The lighting, the windows, the wood panel ceiling, the center dome above the four-sided altar! The side rooms for prayer and reflection! Just beautiful. I wish I’d been here for an Easter or Christmas Mass… I’ll bet it’s gorgeous! The choir was angelic. As an American I found the portrait of JFK a tad out of place… but, hey! when in Rome, right? Just fascinating. I could have spent hours admiring the Stations of the Cross, the detail, the ornate architecture… the building is newer than I thought (circa 1965 I believe)…but the architecture style had me believing it was much older.

Beautiful Cathedral that has a very calming atmosphere. It is both grand but very grounded due to the materials used in its construction. I found it to be a very peaceful place even with the tourists taking pictures all around. People are respectful of the space and the beauty of it shines through.

The latin quarter of Galway's city is utterly flawless, that is with the exception of this restaurant. The heart of Galway is Quay Street, pumping out a rich blend of ambience, music, food, history, people, and more.
This street is one of many that stretch south from Eyre Square toward the Corrib.
When here you must take a stroll and admire the beautiful historic buildings, window-shop at one of many artisan boutiques, and people-watch from a café or restaurant.
Please, don’t miss a stop at one of the pubs along the way. This street is known for having some of the best nightlife in Galway because of its welcoming atmosphere.

I will recommend You to take a walk through this wonderful part of the town. The Latin Quarter of Galway City extends from the Spanish Arch to O’Brien’s Bridge to St Nicholas’ Church to Middle Street and features many well fine examples of the city’s medieval heritage.

An amazing and vibrant neighborhood that you must visit when you come to Galway.
It is famous for its iconic buildings and architecture, its shops, its many great restaurants and pubs, and the “night scene” with plenty of live music and street performances. (Street performers are known as “buskers” and they perform a wide variety of local and traditional music, as well as other favorites)
Plan on spending several hours here to explore, and try to visit during the day for lunch and a drink, then return later in the evening for the “night crowd.”
It’s a very short walk from the harbor, and many people visit here after a day cruise to the islands.

WHAT’S GOOD?
1. This is *the* place to be in Galway. The historic charm and vibrancy of this district are sure to raise your spirits.
2. The number of pubs, restaurants, and shops along these narrow streets are sure to please everyone.
3. This district is adjacent to (within walking distance) modern shopping centers which is a great add-on to any visit if needed.
——
WHAT’S BAD?
1. The area is touristy. This isn’t really a bad thing, just be aware. It’s simply a caveat of a really great place.
——
SUMMARY: The Latin Quarter is a solid reason to include a Galway visit on your trip. It is a destination and should certainly be considered.

We spent a lot of time here, wandering from room to room. Very well preserved. So many nooks and crannies to explore. Old tombs and graves. Intriguing etchings on the walls and carvings in the eaves. A lovely place for a stroll, and the tree and exhibit based on the old home of Lady Gregory that used to be on the site is very interesting. Plus a nice little cafe and a turlough, which has to be the world's most interesting type of lake. Repeat visits are planned.
Wavey-David Cowpar — Google review
We visited during December and the lake seems flooded during that time could not able to go future but it was great the rest of part. Have to be careful with small kids as lake water was at the edge on path way. Kids had good fun throwing stone etc. Good walk need some proper arrangements for resting points and toilets. The garden area is great with benches etc and nice walk inside it.

Beautiful park birds singing all through the park. Could do with some investment in placing more flowers and flowering shrubs throughout the park. Just lacked a bit of colour.

This place is fabulous. Just outside Gort its a great place to visit especially if you have children great footpaths and walkways very buggy friendly and loads of open spaces to run around. Coole Park has an amazing history and is well worth a visit.

Lovely walk around the estate. Lake eerie in the cloudy dull day.
Tearooms very nice and food good and service good.

Its not a park. Its a kind of small forest. Everything " in place" and friendly to last detail. Strongly recommended.

Excellent place for walks around the forest and walled garden
Cafe a delight with lots of homemade bread, cakes etc
Tranquil, picturesque, pristine walkway. Excellently maintained and pet friendly. We love to feed the ducks and geese here, there is a real feeling of being at one with nature. A real jewel in Claremorris town

Fantastic park, well kept with no litter. Geese, ducks and other animals around the lake, some lovely little piers and a decent walking route long or short depending on what you're looking for. Peaceful and quiet despite being right in a nice sized town. Fantastic place for a weekend walk/jog.
Kyle Myers — Google review
I had wanted to explore this Park on a prior trip but ran out of time, so this time I was determined. The entrance is near a kids playground and there is adequate parking. Entrance and use are free. There are informative signs near the entrance regarding the trees and wildlife of the park. The path ways are well sign posted and the lake is directly in view, behind a small pavilion. Once I entered the walking path I quickly developed a sense of detachment from the noise and traffic outside the park, an impression which deepened as I progressed further.
There are amusing miniatures of houses for the little people in the early section. This is followed by samples from the Land of the Giants further in. These figures add amusement and interest to the walk. KM markers give one a sense of progress and maps are placeed at critical junctions. There are multiple wooden bridges to help cross over streams. The sound of your own footsteps on the path surface made me think of life 100 + years ago when such walks would have been the primary method to get from one village to another. The trees and flora and fauna are more natural than in a more disciplined City Park and are all the better for it.
On my return route I noticed men fishing and a pair of swans gliding through the water. The whole experience was good for both mind and body. As I neared the exit I was mentally scheduling my next walk. The paths were not crowded and one has plenty of time for reflection.

It used to be an amazing place to walk for children and adults but over the years half of the 'giant' features have rotted or been vandalised, and removed. It's a shame.
Still a nice walk with a good path around the lough and a good children's playground next to the car park. Hopefully they'll do it up a bit and replace the giant attractions.

Ther is so much too see on this walk from swans to giant wellies it's a walk for all ages, plenty of parking and a playground, we walked it on a Saturday morning during a park run and the runners were so friendly 😀

Beautiful spot to go. The park is really nice and is almost pristine with the exception of a odd little bit of litter left by some idiots. There is a large array of plants and wildlife around the park, including lots of ducks and geese. The park is also wheelchair accessible. The entrance gates to the park are closed at 8pm.
Aidan McLoughlin — Google review
Was amazed how tidy and clean this little gem is just in off the main road. Wheelchair friendly and a huge greeting from the ducks that roam free which is lovely to see. Very safe for kids where the lake is well fenced off. Nice little treck for all the family.
John Hurley — Google review
Great park for a lovely walk in a well maintained pathway. In the center we can see a lake and they allows fishing for those who have permission. Ducks are the another attraction of this place. The park offers a good walking or running experience.
Sarun BR — Google review
It's not what it used to be. Coffee stand not placed near entrance gate instead of it it's at very focal point in the park, which does not contribute to the scenery in any way.

During an unplanned and impromptu visit, I had the most unique tour through the process of weaving some very beautiful scarves. I was thrilled to see behind the scenes and can appreciate the craftsmanship even better. A special surprise at the end of our tour made a memory for that I will treasure. Can't wait to wear some of my beautiful new scarves!

Had a wonderful time there, everyone was so nice and friendly. They even gave us a free tour of the place! It was so interesting to watch Eugene work on the machines and explain the history of the business. Told my family about it and my sister and mother can't wait to visit.
Of course, their products are beautifully made and delicate while clearly being able to stand the test of time.
So delighted I went there!

We saw this in Google as a nearby attraction and decide to go. It was a unique and original tour, and the owners really took quite a bit of time out of their day to show us around. They care and thought that goes into making their products is superb. And the scarves are terrific! Buy one even if it not from a tour!

The Athenry Heritage Centre is a small, but interesting, museum in the town of Athenry, County Galway. The museum has displays on the town's history and its connections to nearby castles and historical sites. The museum also has a number of artifacts from the town's past. The center is well-maintained and the staff are knowledgeable about their exhibits.
My family had such a wonderful experience here. The staff were super friendly and informative. The dressing up was so much fun, and the tour was very informative and patient as we needed to translate from English for our youngest to understand. We also had an archery "contest". In general, the kids and parents were thrilled. The whole experience is about 1.5 hours. Parking is by meter (only coins!) in the town square next to the heritage center. We didn't plan to go to the castle as well, but the admission was free, so we hoped in to have a look.

the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable and I would recommend this for all ages ,especially families .

This should be the starting place of your tour of the city, which is really remarkable with a long history. The tour is in a small area within an old church packed full of interesting history and insight from deeply knowledgeable guides. It's also very tangible -they allow you to touch and handle several items like swords and helmets. Try to also make sure to go when the castle itself is open. The heritage center has a restroom/toilet for people taking the tour.

If you're travelling with the family this summer, Turoe Pet Farm is a great place to spend a day. There's plenty to do on the farm, including an outdoor nature trail and playground, as well as Pets Corner where you can cuddle rabbits and play with dogs. The farm also has its own football pitch and picnic areas.
Nice farm with clean paddocks and a walk right around which is gravel all the way. We arrived while the heavens opened and the rain lashed with an umbrella - and did not get dirty walking.
You get a small bag of food on entry for feeding the animals which made for some really excited kids and the animals are clearly accustomed to visitors and only to happy to be feed
Once the farm area is done there are some amazing play areas which you have a maximum of 3 hours to enjoy using a colour band system. These are really well kept. Absolutely Hugh filling the respective barns and with a lot of young staff keeping a very close watch on the children at play. Top marks
Finally they have a large catering area for food to enjoy before departing.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a nice 1/2 day
Damian Flynn — Google review
Good fun for kids of all ages. Animals look well cared for. The whole farm looks relatively well maintained. It takes some time to cover the entire farm on foot. It has a good collection of animals. Could have had a dedicated member of staff near the rabbits and hens, so kids could enjoy petting them in an orderly manner. Large outdoor play area for kids and adults to enjoy. The large bouncy castle/world was really good. Choice of food could be better, considering the crowd. Nevertheless a fun day out for kids and family.

Fantastic experience. I cannot praise this place enough. The inflatable indoor area is massive and of the very highest quality and layout. They also have a lovely soft play are just a few meters away. Food and drink options were excellent. There seemed to me to be at least three playgrounds with very modern equipment. The newest of the three playgrounds is probably the highest quality and most innovative playground I have ever seen. Plus, as you'd expect, there are lots of beautiful animals. Plenty of parking and friendly helpful staff everywhere. This place clearly spends serious money on equipment and staff, that is very obvious and it all adds up to an amazing family experience. I cannot recommend Turoe Pet Farm enough. A+
Paul McCarthy — Google review
Neat and tidy is highlight. Animals in numbers are less but i thinks its enough to enjoy. Felt relaxed after the walk. Kids will enjoy and make friends with others. Can use playgrounds, football court bounce etc. At the bouncee more security has to be made because I could see a couple of ladies were using the bouncee and the guy was helpless in stopping them. Lots of parking available.

Absolutely brilliant place. We travelled up from laois so a bit of a spin but it was worth it. Such a lovely welcome when you arrive + We got 2 bags of animal feed and went on our way. Plenty of huts around the hawthorn walk for you to shelter in from rain or as we had today glorious sunshine. Busy but plenty of room for social distancing, sanitizing stations everywhere. The staff in the jungle zone and in the inflatable city were absolutely brilliant and kept a very close eye on all children so no one was getting injured. Great job well done. The food was fab and not expensive at all. We could have easily spent another hour or 2 there with the amount of playgrounds and astro pitch but our little man was already exhausted from the fun he had. Turoe farm is spotless inside and out. We will definately be returning. Thank you for a lovely day out.

Another day in Turned Farm and it was great. This is a great outdoors/indoors attraction. There are quite a few species of animals. They are very friendly and let you touch and feed them. Staff are friendly and very professional. The inflatable city is definitely the place where most children are interested. Really cool and entertaining place. Will definitely recommend and come back. It's a shame I didn't take more photos of the place.

Really enjoyed the petting farm. Lovely helpful staff, very friendly. Baby and toddler area in bouncy city was not supervised by staff and older kids kept coming in, putting my 9mth old at risk. Great place for family to bring back a more wholesome entertainment experience. You can spend the whole day there in either rain or shine thanks to the addition of covered in play areas as well as the huge bouncy castle shed which has to be seen to be believed. There are two food option , the restaurant which serves very affordable and tasty food or the cafe which has sweets and cakes homemade and delicious. If you like you can also bring your own food and enjoy it on the many picnic tables located all around or in the restaurant area its self. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food quality and taste was very good although basic. We have been many times over the years and will continue to go as it is just a fantastic wholesome family day out with no electronics to be seen and tired happy kids at the end of the day.

What a great find! We didn't plan on stopping here, just happened to see the sign and followed the road to it. We got there at 10am when they opened and took thr self guided tour to the top. It was outer first Castle experience in Ireland. Definitely a must see.

This Norman keep was built around 1200 and it’s over 30 metres high. The crown of crenellations (Buildings with defensive architecture often have gaps which were implemented to allow the launch of arrows or other projectiles from within; these gaps are called ‘crenels’) and the ring of clerestory windows were later added in 1861.
What is really interesting is that you enter this castle for free. You just walk in and climb the first set of wooden stairs until you reach the first floor filled with lots of information about the castle. Then you climb stairs made out of stone, which are way more uncomfortable but also way more interesting. The second floor seemed to have been the public hall of the keep, with a destroyed fireplace made out of sandstone. The third floor is the last room on the inside before you reach the top. Be careful here, the wind can be quite strong here, but the view really is stunning!
I am so glad that I had the chance to see this castle again and to tell you a bit more about it. If you’re in the area, stop there and climb these old stairs! I can definitely only recommend Nenagh and the castle here!

There is only part of the castle remaining but well worth a visit if you happen to be nearby.

Portumna Castle, originally built in 1618 by the 4th Earl of Clanricarde, is a Jacobean-style fortified house with Renaissance-style towers and gates. The castle still retains its formal appearance with its geometric courtyard and colorful garden maze known as the willow maze.
Absolutely loved this place. Cannot believe in all my years bringing my family hiking in Portumna Forest that we never visited the castle ground before. Well worth a visit, plenty to see and do and the herb gardens are amazing! Lovely tea rooms and clean toilets for that all-important cuppa on the go.

In 2023, it was finally time to explore Portumna Castle in county Galway, Ireland. This castle was built around 400 years ago by the de Burgo (Burke) family and it offers the castle, a café, a walled garden and an indoor exhibition.
You can best reach this castle by car and park close to the park’s entrance where you can already spot the ruins of Portumna Friary. You can freely access those and explore them to your heart’s content!
When you then walk onwards this path for a bit, you reach the castle grounds with toilets and a café located in the courtyard buildings. When the weather’s nice, this is a lovely place to sit, from where you can already see parts of the castle itself.
For 5€, you can then also head into the castle and the gardens. Inside the castle, there’s an exhibition on the ground floor bringing the story of the castle and the de Burgo family to life.
The most interesting part about this area, however, truly are the gardens! There are formal, geometrically-laid gardens to the north, which definitely make for some great photos!

Interesting historical castle/manor with nice gardens. There are some information plaques but only a small part of the castle is currently accessible as it is still being renovated, although this appears to be reflected in the relatively cheap entry price (€5 as of July 2022). You can also visit the nearby priory ruins.

Gardens are beautifully kept, don't miss the Kitchen Garden too! It is all free, you can get a free tour of part of the Castle by such friendly tour guides.
There were beautiful photography displayed in the gardens too ☺️ Definitely recommend.

A must see if you're in Portumna, not only for its historical value but as a unique monument to the dedication of the OPW. A work in progress since 1968 the building has been saved from dereliction and the ground floor is now open to visitors with a guided tour and video presentation available. The house's kitchen garden has been largely restored by a local volunteer group, the walled garden in particular has some magical corners. Refreshments and facilities are available with friendly and helpful staff. Admission is only €5 for adults with the usual concessions and wheelchair access. 😎❤

Beautiful Marina on the banks of the Shannon. Picnic tables so you can buy a sandwich and coffee from local shop (or bring your own) and have a picnic while watching the boats come and go. Lots of ducks and swans too. Credit to whoever keeps the place clean because it was immaculate. Facilities for camper vans and boats. Toilets and showers. Electric hook up. Disposal areas for water. Rubbish collected from camper vans each morning but still not sure why there are no public rubbish bins. Will need a card from local supermarket to access electricity, toilets etc. Not sure of price. I think they're sold in 10euro cards but can be used across Ireland at waterway Ireland facilities. There's a castle with lovely gardens to explore (can't remember price of entry) and a very short walk will bring you to the ruins of a wonderful old Abbey. We didn't do the castle (something for another day) but the ruins of the abbey are stunning. Overall, a beautiful stop off on a road trip.

Walled garden is lovely, the castle not fully renovated yet and only the ground floor is open- small and not much to see.
The walled garden more than justifies the €5 entrance fee though.
The Irish Workhouse Centre is a fascinating heritage museum that tells the story of Ireland's workhouses. The tour is well worth it and the staff are very committed and knowledgeable.
For a place that is run solely on donations and no government funding, Portumna Workhouse is such a wonderful display of an absolutely horrific time in Irish history. After finishing our tour, we were made aware of just how little of our past is actually taught in schools.
I'd 100% recommend that all children be brought here as part of their school trips.

The €12 entrance fee included a guided tour, there is no option to wander around without a guide. The tour took around an hour and a half. Tours run every two hours-see their website for details. The guide was a little hesitant and seemed a little nervous which was odd as she really knew her stuff.
Fascinating and educational.
There was also an art exhibition of bog oak carvings and engravings which were famine relayed and pretty good.

Very insightful and respectful tour outlining and honouring a dark period of Irish history.
Aisling Donnelly — Google review
Great museum that tells the story of a pretty awful institution in a bad period in Ireland. Our guide, Roisin, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable and told the story of the workhouse very well during the tour that lasted just over an hour.

I've been a couple of times, was always interesting. Always a guide on the occasions I've been, and they're very knowledgeable and informative. Though a very sad story told here it's definitely worth a visit. I recommend to all that are visiting the area, but also for those living locally if you haven't been. The earl grey scheme was particularly interesting to learn about.

A truly amasing, really educational experience, offering a true insight into one of Ireland's most difficult periods. I took a group of 38 French teenagers on a visit and they learnt so much about the purposes of the workhouse and were awed by some of the practices during its time of operation. The guides and staff were brilliant. This should be a 'must do' on anyone's list who is interested in Irish history.
Abrahsm Ryan — Google review
Absolutely worth a visit! Very reasonably priced and tour was just the right length. I could have listened to the guides all day long but an hour is about right so the kids don't become fed up. As for the tour guide & staff, all very friendly and full of local knowledge. I knew very little about the workhouses and have never seen one open to the public before. Hopefully in the future they will be able to restore more of the buildings and it will be even better. Well done folks, keep up the good work!

I saw Onoir who were just brilliant! The venue is great and I have been to several plays, concerts, shows there. Its small intimate and deeply embedded in the community. It runs a full programme of events throughout the year and is easily accessible. Programme/Tickets online and ticket scanning on arrival make the process simple and easy.

My first time here was for my son's school concert. The decor and seating is fresh and new/modern but it still has an authentic old feel to it. It is small but feels roomy when you are seated. I imagine it is a great venue for theatre (as intended!) or an intimate music gig.

Thoroughly enjoyed the tour, our guide Michael was great and a font of knowledge on ancient Ireland and the local area with some fascinating theories and never a straight answer in line with Irish custom! We'll be back
Fergus Walpole — Google review
The woman in the shop was utterly disinterested and unwelcoming. No guided tour was offered. The "self guided tour" of a few exhibits was underwhelming in the extreme, and one of the two AV exhibits was out of order, which was not mentioned when we were charged full price to show ourselves around. Looking at the other reviews, we clearly got unlucky with the staff member we encountered.

Too academic without covering many sites/areas. Good for ancient Irish Tain history enthusiasts but not much physical ground covered. Only saw a couple of sites...

We visited in October, and did the Samhain tour. The tour was INCREDIBLE - Mike is an amazing guide!! We were blown away by how knowledgeable he was, and he was extremely accommodating with our request for time in the cave. We will be forever grateful for the experience. Thank you to Mike and everyone at the visitor centre!

Visited with a large group and Mike was very knowledgeable! Very neat museum displays and sites to visit nearby. Also has a great cafe adjoined to grab food or coffee/tea.

Truly a wonderful experience - the museum has a stellar selection of artifacts from ancient Ireland that my sister and I enjoyed thoroughly, particularly the video activations. We also participated in a tour with Mike of the local heritage sites, and WOW was it very cool and informative! Overall, such a unique and brilliant tourism destination, providing insight into ancient to medieval to modern Ireland from an archeological, historical, and mythological perspective. We will certainly be returning someday, and truly cannot wait! 10000/10 recommend.
P.S. Their gift shop is really cool too (:

Bought tickets in advance, arrived at 3:30pm 1 hour before close but they were closed early for something on 2/25. I was unable to use the purchased in advance tickets I had and I do not have time in my itinerary to drive all the way back up there from Dublin.

This was a highlight of our visit to the area. We did the tour, Elaine our guide was brilliant- a wealth of information and so passionate about the subject made it all come to life for us. This is a community based project which is appealing. Worth every penny of the small entrance fee.
We visited the site and the cave.
Afterward we went back to the centre where we had a late lunch- the food was freshly made and very tasty.

Absolutely brilliant ! 👏
Very informative, beautiful displays.
Rathcroghan Visitor Centre is run by a local community group who have a passion for the area, history & folklore. The well informed staff have archaeological backgrounds and lots of enthusiasm for their fascinating subject. They expertly deliver stacks of facts understandably.
I had longed to visit Owenygat Cave, ( Cave of the Cats) the Origin place of Samhain aka Halloween for some time, but tickets to their annual Halloween tour into the Cave are rare, as only 1 tour of 8 visitors operates on weekdays at that time of year.
I got the last available ticket.
Tour guide Elaine went into some depth detailing the stories and connections of the Cave to Samhain.
The Cave itself is amazing.
The bookshop is exceptional, with a plenty of books on Rathcroghan, texts, folklore, archaeology, children's books. Check out the fascinating Rathcroghan guidebook.
Lovely gifts also are on sale. Everything has a touch of quality.
I will return for the longer Rathcroghan tour to learn about the many monuments and the seat of power for Connacht, Queen Medb and The Tain.
A superb day out.

A group of 4 of us booked for the 12pm tour, the tour had a total of 6 lead by tour guide Daniel. We were given a brief rundown of the next two hours at the Rathcroghan Vistor Centre, before jumping into the tour bus and heading off to the Rathcroghan Archaeological Site. A short distance up the road, the Mound was quite visible from the carpark. We gathered at a number of information boards and were taken on a mythological / archaeological journey through Daniels story telling before taking the short walk onto the mound it's self. Daniel is a mind of information and has an easy-going charm, we were told this, along with being such a handsome young man were due to him being from the fertile lands of Roscommon! Once we had recieved an extensive overview of the site and the multiple archaeological sites around us we walked back to the tour bus and took a short drive to Oweynagat (the cave of cats, or the gate to hell!)
We were greated by a small tunnel into the ground, tucked under a hedgerow. Now I have to say, I wasn't expecting to go 'caving' but... Don't be put off!! The journey down into the ground was wet, muddy and pretty tight in places. Daniel was always on hand to help, was calm and reassuring. I'd never done anything like this before, but am so pleased I did! It was actually quite a buzz!! Just to experience the enclosure and darkness of this place, whilst hearing about the myths and history was just incredible.
I'm giving this experience a solid 5 Stars, there are a few things to note if you are intending on booking the tour. Dress appropriately, good boots or walking footware are a must, be dressed for all weathers, this is a year round all weather tour, be prepared! You'll most likely get muddy if you go into the cave, take it on the chin.. It's a really amazing experience.
I'll definitely be recommending this to friends and family.

Last week my mother and I booked a tour at the Visitor Centre and we both loved it! Mike was our tour guide and even though I've read quite a bit about Irish Mythology I still learned a lot of new stories, especially information about Medb.
My mother has trouble walking and isn't the fastest lady out there, but Mike was very patient and she could take her time to get out of the bus and up the hill. So thank you so much for that!
My personal highlight was the cave. But if you decide to crawl into it, wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty and maybe bring an extra pair of everything if you decide to go somehwere else after.
All in all it was amazing, the people were lovely and one day I will visit again!

Always a delight visiting the visitor centre and the cafe. It's great when you walk into a tourism hotspot and receive a professional welcome.
All the staff are knowledgeable and very welcoming. The prices are incredibly affordable, breakfast and lunch are great value. I usually struggle to finish the generous portions and I'm a big guy.
Plenty of secure parking and clean toilets with access for everyone of all mobility.
Highly recommended.

This is a real gem of a place and an absolute delight. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit. I was part of a group who 'oohed' and 'awed' and reminisced and loved their nostalgic trip down memory lane. Highly recommend for those who remember first hand the delights on view to those who are too young but will love the their families reactions to a trip into yesteryear.

We called Charlie and Bridie if we could come and see their museum. They opened the doors for us even though we came along when it was not officially open. The two of them are so lovely and explain to you everything you wanna know about the wonderful objects which have been collected over the years. I felt like I was on a journey back in time. I like nostalgia so I love places where you can dream away in phantasies about how evereything must have been in former times. We liked the fact that it was such a rural area and a lot of stuff which has been typical for rural areas. I really recommend to see that place and meet that lovely couple. Plan at least on hour for your stay. There is so much to see and you can sense how much love they have given into the collecting and the arrangements of the objects....

This is an unexpected gem that has been created with a lot of love for preserving history. The time and effort put in the restoration and the curation of items is evident. The curator was lovely and helped bring all the items to life for us, having grown up in the community. It was a wonderfully nostalgic place for me and interesting, curious, and fun for my young teens.
Clonmacnoise is a ruined monastery in Ireland that was founded in the 6th century by St. Ciaran. Located next to the River Shannon, Clonmacnoise was once a thriving Christian monastery and served as a center for learning in Ireland. Today, Clonmacnoise is a beautiful and atmospheric ruin filled with stone ruins from centuries of monastic life.
Awesome place to visit. Lovely visitor centre and film to watch. Grounds are stunning (you can explore at will) and you can walk down to the River Shannon jetty where visitors arrive by boat and moor up to visit. I can highly recommend this place for a wonderful peaceful and thought provoking experience. There is a shop and usual facilities. Welcoming and helpful staff too.
Joy Atkins — Google review
First time here in years. We took a notion and came to visit on a beautiful summer day. The ruins are beautifully preserved and there is plenty of information inside about the area.
I also appreciate the staff telling us to pay as a group as it saved us €2 apiece. That kind of customer service deserves a mention.
I would give it 3.5 stars if that were an option. Some small points are lost with me because I feel it is a little lacking for a visitor centre with overheads. (Please don't let it dissuade you, it's just a personal feeling).
The main let down for me was I had hoped the offering in terms of entertainment could be a little stronger. It is a remarkable space to walk through and explore. Nearby there is the ruin of the castle and gorgeous views of the water. It was spectacular to swim in.
But the water offering is outside the centre and I just felt there could be something extra for visitors to make the place stand out a little more.
Still well worth a visit, especially if you are a history nerd like yours truly

A haunting, beautiful, historic location. Visit first thing in morning or last hour of the day, I was there for when it opened on a day with heavy bursts of rain. When I was ready to leave about 90 minutes after I arrived the serenity was disrupted by the amount of people walking around. There is a small museum where the original crosses are preserved with a good chunk or reading on the history and a room that plays a movie of this type of information on a loop. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Pay the entry fee to help the site run, don't be a tightwad and walk round to the cemetery and enter from the gate there. Use this route after paying to walk less than 500m to the Nun's Church up the lane.
The car park is not the biggest and looks like it could get full on a busy day. Good restrooms inside the site. Outside of the site, ruins and view, there is not a lot more, this is a focused visit for history and beauty.
The shop / cafe that is in the car park area (and not part of the historic site) is well meaning, yet not great. Stuffed full of tourist tat, expensive and the coffee is self service from a machine. If you need refreshments head to nearby Shannonbridge e.g. Shannonbridge Fort & Cafe (has a car park) or the other side of the bridge, The Hatch & Co.

Fabulous 6th century ruined monastery near the River Shannon. I would recommend arriving when they open or before 10:45am to avoid the arrival of the tour buses! It will become very crowded after 11:00am.

From my point of view most impressive Cloisture and Abbey complex in Ireland. The whole area is directly above the river of Shannon. Very nice Museum with excellent explanations and markings. Clean Toilette inside the Museum or outside in the Café. There is a large Parking area above the area. You can reach the Area via Car, bike or Ship. Excellent ship parking area before Clonmacnoise. Tickets can be purchased on site.

Much the same as every other similar place, nice to see, but not if you've to go out of your way to visit
Friendly staff
The video is helpful to give you the history of the site and helps when going out to look at the ruins etc
Pity there was work going on and no cafe etc at nothing even near it (and it was cold as we visited in November)
Could do with a sympathetic stone or that walk way rather than trying to walk on grass and unfortunately some graves under grass

As an Irishman, it is our monuments, such as these at Clonmacnoise, that instill in me a deep sense of, not only my own history, but the history of every Irish person worldwide. I would advise a brief Google search of the ruins before visiting to get a deeper understanding. There is a short explanatory movie included in the entrance price, and a wonderful display of Celtic Cross stone carving. Located in a beautiful setting with the 40 shades of green jumping out at you, this, and the Spirit of the Christian Gael rising from the ground and puncturing your soul, let's you know that this is the real deal. THIS IS IRELAND. Expertly maintained. Bualadh Bos to all concerned.
Toilets on scene and a coffee/ souvenir shop nearby. Free Parking.

Leap Castle in Ireland is a 16th-century fortress that has a violent and tragic past, which many believe has left it haunted. While the castle may appear small on the inside due to its abundance of tables and gadgets, visitors should not miss the opportunity to explore the top floor for a breathtaking view and a visit to the first-floor bedroom. The castle's tour guide, Shawn, is known for sharing all of its stories with visitors.
Was lovely to chat with the current custodian, who has been lovingly restoring this castle since the 90s. The views from the top are impressive. And lovely to see a castle mid restoration.

Loved this place. Not one of the bigger castles but perhaps that is why I found this place so fascinating. Sean, the keeper of the site, is very knowledgeable and extremely friendly. He is careful to answer all questions and gives access to the tower which he has renovated himself. Very much worth the time to visit if you can spare the extra hour or two.

AN ABSOLUTE GEM! When I read some reviews saying Leap Castle is a private residence I was worried I would have to forgo it on my trip. To clarify, it is a private residence the owner opens for tours. Sean is a friendly and incredibly knowledgeable host.
When you visit, park infront of the castle and ring the door. You'll be given a history of the castle and invited to check out the bloody abbey on top. Make sure to look for the original oubliette in the back right corner!

Looks like I've missed a whole spooky part of the castle. Went there - couldnt find a parking - no need to - as the only parking is the one in front of the castle - you need to drive to the front doors of the castle. There is the Shawn that everyone is writing about . He tells all of the castle stories, lets you go up and see the view from the top floor. Awesome sight. He also encourages you to visit the first floor - a nice bedroom. The castle inside seems to be very small as most of the place is taken by the tables. And a whole lot of gadgets you can put anywhere. But overall i think it is worth of your visit.

Sean is an amazing tour guide! He let us into his castle to tour freely on our own while making sure any questions we had were answered. The amount of history this man knows about the castle is amazing. The decor in the castle is straight out of a story book. The tour is so personable and is 100% a hidden gem. A must see in Ireland. He asks for 6 euros per person but it is worth so much more than that!

Leap Castle is a private residence. Open Monday-Saturday, 10am - 5pm. I emailed the owner- Mr. Sean Ryan, as a courtesy before arriving. Mr. Ryan was very welcoming and relaxed. He gave us the freedom to wander about the great hall, conservatory, and upper floors - including the Bloody Chapel at the top of the tower. Mr. Ryan is a person very much interested in the history of his Castle, but he is also politely inquisitive of his guests. He asked me questions about my visit to Ireland, and my ancestry. It was a pleasant chat. It was my understanding, prior to our visitation, that Leap Castle has a reputation of being haunted. My husband and I were not particularly seeking an experience, but we did in fact have one. This is certainly a singular residence. I cannot compare it to anything I have seen before. If you enjoy the strange, dark, or mysterious on a subtle scale, then I believe Leap Castle should be on your travel list.

Birr Castle Demesne is a beautiful garden with a lot of history. It's perfect for a family day out, as the gardens are lovely and the children will love the play area. The cafe is well priced and has delicious and healthy options.
Fabulous castle and grounds. 10 per adult entry with concessions for kids and seniors. The telescope from the 1840s is extraordinary. Absolutely brilliant place for a day out, but you will need a full day, if you want to see it all. Birr Castle is stunning, although it is lived in, so not allowed inside.
The grounds are beautiful and the formal gardens are amazing! There are two stunning walks, both of which are accessible to all levels of fitness. There's a lake with swans and numerous birds and other wildlife , including red squirrels.
Children will have lots of fun in the playground area which has a huge tree house. There is a cafe with indoor and outdoor seating (weather permitting) and toilets on site for your convenience.
I can't wait to go back!

We were here the first week of December and thankfully the weather got better in the afternoon and we managed to see all the attractions here. limerick all decked out in rain gear and we all had a fantastic time. The children loved everything about the place. It’s a hidden gem for family day out. Can’t wait to go back in nice weather and experience the magic of the grounds in the sunshine. Staff were very friendly and natural. I’ve told so many people about out great day. Inexpensive to visit and could easy pass a full day. Thank you for a lovely time and Easter quest was fun

A fantastic place to visit, while you cant access the castle as it is a residence the enormous garden and grounds are stunning and well worth spending a few hours in. With over 100 acres you will easily get lost in the many wonderful areas and also the fascinating history behind the precious owners with one of the largest telescopes of its time located in the garden.

Athlone Castle is a 13th-century fortress situated by the River Shannon and features eight interactive exhibition rooms with chronological themes. The castle showcases modern and engaging displays that depict the town's turbulent history and its evolution through time. The highlight of the castle is Siege Experience, which takes place in a circular panoramic gallery. The Normans built this castle in 1210 after asserting their power over Athlone's ancient river ford, which played an essential role as a crossroad on the Shannon.
With the staff being well informed about both Irish and Scottish history, proved the information centre to be really informative. As a traveler, it’s always good to find recommendations of local places that Google may not tell you about. This tourism centre was easy to find and it’s part of the Adamson Castle.
You are greeted warmly by friendly staff and they’ll ask you a little bit about why you’re visiting, they can give you the right information as long as you ask.
If you didn’t know, they also have self-guided tours inside the Athlone Tourist Information Centre, if you’re trying to waste a little extra time for your flight, also assuming you’re interested in seeing the remains of the Adamson Castle that was built in the 12th century.

Very interesting place, small museum, I set 4 stars, just because of several rooms and attentions have been closed, and also in was not for free as others do in during pandemic, overall I really recommend to visit, it can be also not better then Bunratty castle, but anyway good enough

A wonderful way to get an overview of Athlone’s history. As a rule I don’t really like interactive exhibits but found those in the castle enthralling. I recommend making it your first stop in the city. I believe another reviewer criticized the mannequins but I think they are brilliantly made and have a fantastic theatrical feel. Well worth seeing!

It looked good from the outside then it was dearer than Kilkenny castle so I didn't go in
I don't know how you can price something in Athlone higher than Kilkenny

Very nice to visit. Interactive stuff for kids, plenty of interesting artefacts, costumes, to see Video presentation of history of castle. Nice views of city from the ramparts. Very good value for 10 euro per adult.

Amazing place! Plenty of interactive stuff to do, which is fun for adults too.
One of the tour guides showed us some hidden gems, and even recommended a (free) exhibition (just across from the castle)
The National Famine Museum, Strokestown Park, offers guided tours of a Georgian Palladian mansion, walled garden, and museum focusing on the 1840s famine. The mansion was commissioned in the early 18th century and is surrounded by gardens that reflect the estate's original wealth. The museum is well-designed and includes a memorial center. Visitors can take guided tours or explore independently with amenities such as a cafe/restaurant, souvenir section, and parking facilities available.
The Park's House has been opened after an extensive refurbishment and it's spectacular.
The fairy woodland walk and Victorian Gardens are a treat too.
The House now also boasts a cafe and gift shop with the entrance akin to that of a five star hotel. The staff are courteous, knowledgeable and extremely accommodating for families.
Can't wait to go back again.

We visited the famine museum and the grounds. The museum is informative and well worth a visit. The audio guides are useful and included in the admission price.
(I'd say the museum is not really suitable for young children - there are darkened rooms and lots of detail to read or listen to.)
Outside, the gardens have the potential to be lovely, but at present some parts are very overgrown and filled with weeds.

Did the Easter hunt in the gardens.
The new visitors centre is very well upgraded and the coffee shop was well stocked and reasonably priced. Coffee and cakes were very nice. One of the party had soup and a toastie, simple and tasty.
The gardens are in the winter phase. Need a lot of attention.
I look forward to coming back and seeing the gardens in the summer and visiting the famine museum.

Very well designed memorial centre. Tours in operation or you can buy your ticket to amble around by yourself. Cafe/restaurant, souvenir section, toilets near the main doors, coach and disabled parking spaces

If you have a chance, do visit. Really worth it.
If you like the EPIC museum in Dublin, you will like this one as well. If you like this one and haven't visited EPIC yet, visit it.
There's a family/group ticket, which can be cheaper. Check with reception.

Heartbreaking but what an excellent experience 👏 , your tour is self-lead around the museum with a handy audio guide that you link with a numbered trail. Found it emotional but we can only learn from the pass . It has a great wee café and gift shop , might consider becoming a member of the IHT as only €40 / €47 per annum PP which is not only a great saving but your contribution helps the up keep of these old buildings .

Great day trip, including the Famine Museum, a tour of Stokestown Manor House, and nature walk. Nice cafe and bookstore. Well worth the visit if you are in the area.

National Famine Museum was very informative about the famine (as the name suggests) and its effects on the country and its population.
Strokestown House had an hours long tour available at 12, 2, 4. The history of the 300 years old and its owners was brought to life by the guide.
A great day out with walks, walled gardens included.

The national famine museum is located in the grounds of Strokestown Park House but I will review both separately. It stated on the website that parking was plentiful but we had to park on the grass verge as there was so many visitors. We went on October 1st and a fate was on with stalls, vintage cars and other things which would explain the large crowds. The visitor centre is clean and spacious but it was a 20 minute queue waiting to purchase tickets. The staff seemed overwhelmed and waiting times for everything were huge especially the cafe at 30 minutes plus. We paid €39 for a family ticket which included a tour of the house. If we didn’t want the tour we would have paid €31 for the museum and gardens. To be honest it was okay. A lot of letters and interactive things which was nice but failed to grab the attention of my 11 year old anyway. The museum directed you towards the forest walk and the walled garden. The forest walk was a huge let down and the walled garden was nice but nothing I would call amazing. If you’re visiting the museum I would suggest getting the house tour which I found the best bit by far. I will review that separately. I would recommend a visit if you find yourself in Co. Roscommon with nothing to do.

This was a great way to better understand the background of the Irish famine. Not only do you get a the facts of what happened, you get it in the context of a wonderful museum, manor house, and grounds, which all combine to help inform you of the great tragedy that unfolded. So many things combined to create the actual suffering of the people, and a bit of mysterious murder helped increase my interest and understanding.
Btw, the ground are pretty wheelchair friendly, though the upper story of the manor house is limited to just stairs. Regardless, it was a great place to visit!

We never knew this place existed before now and decided to visit on Sunday. We also didn't know there was a vintage fair day on until we arrived. It was hard to find parking, and most people were parking in the grass verge of the driveway ( I say it was the day that was in it). We were in a party of 3, 2 adults and 1 child, so we got a family ticket for the museum and the house tour @ €39. There was a long queue at the ticket desk with only 1 person working. There was only 1 tour happening that day because of the fair, and that was at 4pm. So we had over 2 hours before the tour. The museum was very nicely laid out and had lots of different features. I think we were supposed to get an audio player when we paid, but it wasn't offered, so you didn't really get the full grasp of the museum. The fair day was good, and the old games were great fun.
We decided to get a coffee at the cafe, there were about 7 people in front of us and 3 staff behind the counter. 20 mins later, and the queue barely moved, I grabbed cold drinks out of the fridge and went up to the till skipping the queue. A better system is needed here. Again, I say it was busier than they expected. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The forest walk is just that, a small walk with a few benches if you wanted to sit ( they could have cleared the fallen leaves off the benches that morning, as all them where covered and wet). The walled gardens were lovely, I wished we had more time in them, but we had to run for the house tour. The house tour was by far the highlight, and the guy giving the tour was great, friendly, and he had a great easy and love for what he was telling us. There ares a few things this place could improve on, just small touches, no soap in the bathroom when we arrived or when we were leaving. A better system in the cafe and make sure everyone is offered headsets. But overall, we were glad we popped in.

Great museum and lovely tour of house with a very informative and knowledgeable tour guide. Didnt get time to explore grounds such a pity upper floors are not wheelchair accessible however house doesnt lend itself to installing same due to historical structure. Excellent cafe with lovely accommodating staff. Great soup and toasted sandwichs.
