Beautiful Cathedral made of Ardesia, and pink, black and white marble from Tuscany it's worth going inside and observe it's internal structure too, there is an unexploded WWII bomb too, which is now safe but was left on display.
Love seating on the stairs of the church and do some people watching...

Amazing Cathedral, totally worth it. It is being restored on the outside so you cant really see the facade but the interior is amazing. You cant get in with uncovered shoulders or very short skirts or shorts.
Itziar Azua — Google review
They have finally opened the staircase to go to the roof which offers some amazing city views. Was not overly busy so could enjoy it thoroughly. Not for disabled/elderly people, it is quite a climb through a narrow turning staircase. The interior of the Cathedral is beautiful as well, worth visiting when in Genova.
Stefan Curcic — Google review
Incredible cathedral, wonderful exterior style. Interior is rich, as it needs to be when it comes to cathedrals, and the two lions from the outside I liked the most.
The other thing I like in this cathedral are ,,blind doors'' on both sides. All of the pictures were taken exactly 6 years ago, in 2015.

No visit to Genoa is compete without a visit to “Cattedrale Di San Lorenzo!” The architecture of the outside of the Cathedral, as well as the inside of the Cathedral are breathtaking in every way. Unfortunately, as of the time that I took these photos (July, 2022), the outside of the structure is being cleaned or restored so there is a lot of scaffolding, but do not let it prevent you from visiting! As you can see from my photos, it is still magnificent. Cathedrals and Holy Sites as amazing as “Cattedrale Di San Lorenzo” deserve to be kept up and looking great, so kindly be mindful of that if you visit!

Absolutely gorgeous fresco and historical site. The catedral is hidden from the port nestled inside a court that is visible as you make your way up the street through many shops. Definitely worth a visit and photo op.

Lots of pickpockets near here. Found my bag open twice but I had my passport and wallet well hidden and not in my bag. So just be careful when walking around the beautiful city of Genoa. It is an easy city to walk around

San Lorenzo Cathedral, a stunning example of Romanesque architecture in Genoa, offers a remarkable experience for visitors. Don't miss the chance to access the tower with a 5 euro ticket, providing a unique and breathtaking view of the old city. It's an excellent opportunity to appreciate the historical charm of the cathedral and the beauty of Genoa from above.

So surprised how overrated is this place. Probably for many people means a lot as a tourist it was jus a place to relax but also a wasting time.
Do not pay to go on top is nothing special is not worth it, more of that even the view from the top is not nice everything being under construction.

A definite must visit purely based on the museum they have. This is not easy to find within the actual "Chiesa". Once you find it you will discover an amazing treasure. For example it is said to hold the bowl that contained Jesus's Blood, as well as the transport of the ashes of John the Baptist and a few other items of intense beauty. The workmanship of these objects are incredible, using gold and semi precious as well as precious stones. Don't miss this place as you won't regret it.
Genoa's top palace, the Doges Palace, is a historical landmark and cultural center which offers exhibitions, conferences and festivals. The palace is also the home of Genoas main museum.
Beautiful architecture, filled with history and is bery educational. 😊 It's a museum that is well worth the ticket price. Visited during the Ruben's exhibition which was also amazing. Buy your tickets online for a cheaper rate. Highly recommended.

The palace of Doges was the princes of Genova palace. Its origins go back to XIII century, built above the remains of a few Doria family personal houses. It was totally refurbished during the last few decades and now it is the main exhibition & public conferences location for Genova. Genova is the book capital of Italy for 2023/2024 and the Palazzo Ducale hosts most of the public meeting with writers from all over the world. Worthy a visit indeed.

Gorgeous place. We enjoyed it without a guide, exploring on our own. But it would also be great to hear some details, secrets, legends about the palace with a knowing person. There was a flea market there at the weekend.

I didn’t see much because my visit was pretty short but there’s was this really cool big room that I don’t know how would you call it. It was impressive.

When in Genova, you need to see the Doge's palaces that are open to the public. You will also need time to do so. We actually ran out so couldn't completely see everything. The opulance, the grandeur is quite incredible and worth the visit.
Michell Pérez — Google review
The exhibitions are well considered and not too expensive.
Gareth Simpson — Google review
There is nothing to see in the palace except for the temporary exhibitions. Grey rooms with photos on the walls, that was my experience. I paid 13 euors to see an exhibition of Man Ray, that was appalling to my taste, with the only hope to see the palace from the inside. In reality, it's just a medium gallery venue, not the great Palace its exterior promises to be. 3/5

Waited for the main course for 40 minutes and when asked how long I have to wait he said - long! And then he added- if you don’t like it, you can go! There were few tables taken. The Basilica, a symbol of Novara, adds a wonderful atmosphere to the city with its high dome and exterior facade that harmonizes with the surrounding streets. The architecture of the Basilica is truly fascinating and worth exploring. The interior is not cluttered with objects, with the architectural features taking center stage. I can say it's a religious structure that impresses you with its grandeur as soon as you step inside. We enjoyed exploring it.
Unfortunately, we couldn't find any informative brochures or plaques while touring.

Refreshing contrast between ornate decor and plain walls. Quiet, still atmosphere and not crawling with tourists. The statue that was formerly atop the spire is now inside so you can get close up to see the details.

Museo di Storia Naturale "Faraggiana Ferrandi" is a charming museum located next to the Duomo di Novara, offering free entry. It showcases an impressive collection of taxidermy animals, including reindeer, badgers, kingfishers, lions, tigers, and even a polar bear. Each display provides detailed information about the animal's habitat and lifecycle.

The bathrooms were also clean and equipped with soap, paper and sanitizer. The children were very interested and had fun: very few visitors, so we had all the time available without waiting or crowding and above all the visit is free, which these days should not be underestimated. Keep it up, see you soon, we will definitely be back.

Continuate così, a presto, sicuramente ritorneremo.

Staff is very kind and it is clear they try their best, and we acknowledge and appreciate it.
But the museum itself is just... not good. The exhibits are old, done in outdated methods, and wonky-looking. As a lover of natural history museums I was deeply disappointed. It can only be enjoyable for someone who never saw taxidermy before, maybe.
I feel bad for leaving this review, since I can very clearly tell an effort was made in order to make this museum better and more modern. But at the end of the day, it's just a small bunch of decades old, poorly taxidermied animals in small rooms, and is just not worth the time or the parking money. I can not, for the life of me, understand the high rating on Google.

Very interesting museum, a rich collection, with many super interesting information signs that range across many areas obviously linked above all to the elements in relation to the evolution of fauna over the course of history. Our visit was on a weekday (Thursday) and we were able to visit it in great tranquility and with great calm, enjoying it to the fullest in about a couple of hours. The staff who welcomed us at the entrance were very kind.
One final consideration: entry to the museum is free, I find this really fantastic, but I must admit that even charging €5 for entry wouldn't be such a bad thing, perhaps only for adults.
The visit is highly recommended if you are in the area!

(Translated by Google) To review the museum we must understand what we are visiting, namely a taxidermic collection donated in the 19th century to the city of Novara. It goes without saying that it does not contain animals stuffed with current techniques and that if you research this, it is not the museum that is poor but we are the ones who are in the wrong place. Having said this, the animals are divided by finely reproduced habitat, display case by display case. Seeing animals that today are on the brink of extinction is an extraordinary and incredible experience. The staff is very kind, entry is free and in the center a few meters from the church of San Gaudenzio. Probably little publicized and that's a real shame.

Very great place as a shopping mall at south Pavia area. The real advantage is the so familiar atmosphere, the children playground is not so big but enough for them to get some fun. Big shopping Center near Voghera. Plenty of shops to choose. What I like most here is the extremely large wine shop inside the ipermarket. I am struck by the powerlessness, the solemnity, the emotion that arouses being completely immersed in over a thousand years of history. Forget your princess fantasies, in these castles you'll find shrieking ghosts and footprints made of dust on the swift stairs leading to the tower. “Straight out of a fairy tale” brings to mind images of tiny bridges, flowering hills, enchanted woods and ancient buildings but don't you forget that every fairy tale has a dark side, too …it is said that Pietro Dal Verme (lord of the castle in the fifteenth century), poisoned by his second wife Chiara Sforza on October 17, 1485, is the presence that hovers in the rooms of his ancient manor.

Quaint B&B in a historic 6th-century fortress featuring unassuming rooms & mountain views.
Approach/Intro:
This amazing castle should definitely get more attention than it currently has. Located on the top of a low-lying Apennines mountain, the approach can be quite difficult if you are walking or biking to this destination. The approach to the castle is beautiful though, as you will pass through the traditional Italian countryside with the castle looming on the rocks above you.
Castle:
The castle itself is oriented up on a high area of rocks, making it quite artistic. As you enter the castle, the first impression will likely be that there is a high level of reality in how the Castle is decorated. Each room has a realistic theme and is liberally decorated with armor, art, and realistic furnishings. There is not a lot of signage to explain what you may be seeing. However, basically the entire castle is open for exploration. Of the many castles I have visited throughout the UK and Europe, I would rank this as one of the best in terms of openness and excellence in time-appropriate decorations. This is definitely a must-see sight if you are visiting the area!
Visitor Information:
The castle is only open on weekends and holidays unless you call ahead and set up a tour. Here are the standard operating hours (NOTE, the final time listed is the final time you will be allowed entry, not actually when the castle closes):
Saturdays and pre-holidays: 15:00-16:00
Sundays and holidays: 09:30-11:30 and 14:30-17:45
These hours apply to the months of April to October.

(Translated by Google) Perhaps seeing the last rays of sunshine of the season and as there is still a pleasant temperature, we decide to take advantage of the weather for a trip out of town and the choice falls on a destination that I have been aiming for for a while... To get there you enter the town of Pianello Val Tidone and following the easy signs, you leave the town and enter a road surrounded by vineyards; the road is simple because you just have to follow it and the surface will be new at the end of October 2023. Once you arrive in front of the gate you enter and find parking (signposted) in the property's woods; the last part can be tackled on foot with a steep climb but not excessively long and therefore not tiring for those without particular problems.
The mandatory guided tour costs 10.00 euros and shows how much it is possible to see given that the property inhabits part of the castle. The castle, renovated in the last 40 years or so, still bears the signs of attacks from the Second World War, but work began during the sixth century AD.
However, there are details and curiosities that deserve to be heard and seen, in addition to the view that can be enjoyed from the guard's walkway.
I recommend it to be combined with an organized tour with other attractions as the visit lasts about 1 hour.
At the entrance you can buy water and drinks as well as some souvenirs or books.

All'entrata è possibile acquistare acqua e bibite oltre a qualche souvenir o libro.

Despite the damage caused during World War II by clashes between the partisans and German troops, the fortress is in excellent condition, with well-maintained exteriors. The panorama that can be enjoyed over the valleys below is splendid. I highly recommend the property to periodically clean the internal rooms, which are currently quite dusty.
Unfortunately, the loss of the original interior furnishings deprives us of part of the charm inherent in the structure, which is only partially mitigated by the furnishings currently present.

Huge aviation museum featuring real planes, flight simulators & a playground, plus a fast-food cafe.
I saw many aviation museums, but I can say that Volandia is among the best ones. You can find it right next to Malpensa int. airport in Milan.
In museum you can see a huge number of scale models, large number of real military and some civil aircrafts (they are in outdoor display too), you can even see some old and new cars. They also have flight simulators, but during our visit weren't operating!?
Inspite that I am big fan of aviation I would like to point out the space section in this museum. Personally, it was my favourite! This is really a must see because of so many scale models, space suits, solar system moduls, there are even pieces of real meteorites on display.
They've really done a great job!
For children are outside and big indoor playground, you won't be thirsty or hungry either, because they took care of that too!
I highly recommend it!👌🏻

Wonderful idea turned to a concept museum for airplane lovers. Absolutely a must seen place for those who love travelling. Excellent choice for those that need to spend some hours waiting to get on their next flight from the Milano malpensa airport. Big variety of planes, engines, crafts, civil and military ones, flight simulators (not high tech) teaching cockpits, modelism and also concept future cars. I spent almost 3 hours to see everything. The staff really friendly and helpful. Too ad that it is a little "abandoned". Some cleaning and renovation could turn this rock to a diamond. Totally worth the ticket.

What a gem of a museum. Worth travelling 2500km for.
Everything was in superb condition and you can get close to the exhibits and in some cases inside.
Worth every star of the 5 I have given it.

How to walk from the main terminal to the museum: from the "Departures/Partenze" (upstairs) go to the right (NORTH) and at the end of the bridge turn right. At the gate telephone at the published number and somebody will come and open it. Do not walk around the museum perimeter because of construction works: it could become extremely complicated or even dangerous.

Fantastic museum, with lots of interesting things to see and do. Highly recommend it.

Outstanding Museum. I spent 6 hours at this museum this past weekend. It was wonderful.
Short walk from Milan Malpensa Airport. Right now, it is only open on Saturday’s and Sunday’s (Winter Schedule). There is a gate at the back and if you call the number, they will come open the gate helping to avoid a long walk around to the front entrance.
Fee to enter was 15 euros for adults. There is a cafe in the main building and a small fast food restaurant on the property that opens at noon.
The vast collection of aircraft and helicopters is amazing. I love the DC-3, MD-80, and DC-9 that is on the property. The DC-9 used to transport Pope John Paul II and once transported the World Cup winning Italian soccer team.
They also had a Bertone Collection of cars exhibition that was outstanding. Really interesting.
I loved my visit and highly recommend to all avgeeks and aviation enthusiasts.

Short walk from Malpensa. Just follow the sign to the museum from the terminal. Walk across the white bridge to the back of the museum. You can either walk along the fence to the front entrance, or call the number on the back gate and ask the staff to bring you in.
Great exhibition of aircrafts, helicopters and cars. Model aircraft collections were abundant. Must visit for airplane lovers!

The beautiful Ponte Coperto spans the River Ticino and is a popular spot for romantic walks and Instagram pics. The bridge is made of large archways and overlooks the river, making it an ideal place to start discovering Pavia.
Ponte coperto is really beautiful bridge.
You should go there and I recommend to take the stairs and walk along the river: many young people go there sunbathing or cycling

Best time to visit: At dusk where one could enjoy the breeze and admire the sunset. You will find many vendors selling goods and wares. Italy with its great interest and passion for architecture and history has some of the world’s most interesting and ancient bridges. Pavia Cathedral is a large and impressive building with an octagonal dome. It is from the 15th century and is well worth visiting for its architecture alone. The inside of the cathedral is quite colourful and humbly styled, with red brick walls and white interiors.
Wonderful monument. Amazing place.

The exterior of this cathedral is a bit dull with poor brickwork.
But inside, you are overwhelmed by the massive pillars and the fine details all around.

Beautiful Cathedral. I was baptized here as a child and the priests are always very kind and respectful. People keep complaining that it's "unkept" or "mistreated" or "bad exterior," that's because it was built in the 15th century. Don't listen to the negative reviews, this place is wonderful.
MicheNightTerror CF — Google review

The S. Michele Maggiore Basilica is a beautiful and imposing cathedral in the Romanesque style, with elaborate frescoes and a crypt. The church is famous for its stunning architecture and its rich history, which includes many religious events.
It’s really old church. You can feel like you traveled to medieval times. Frederick Barbarossa walked on these floors.

Wonderful lombardic-roman basilica, San Michele Maggiore stands here since 1100 and is today recognized as one of the most impressive churces of the Longobardic period.
Alfonso Fasano — Google review
The church is impressive. The old sandstone of the façade is impressive. I found the inside less taken care of as it used to be. Especially the crypt. No light to the stone steps to go down. Dark the inside, sloppy the cloth on the altar. I was so surprised, I use to come here when I am near Pavia. San Michele was probably my favourite church... I was really deluded!
Fleicap — Google review
San Michele Maggiore can be considered the prototype of other important medieval churches in Pavia such as San Pietro in Ciel d'Oro and San Teodoro. However, it differentiates from latter in the use of sandstone instead of bricks, and for the Latin cross plan with a nave and two aisles and a much extended transept. San Michele's transept, provided with a true façade, a false apse and a barrel vault different from the rest of the church, constitutes a nearly independent section of the edifice. Also its length (38 m, compared to the 55 m of the whole basilica), contributes to this impression.
At the crossing of nave and transept is the octagonal dome, a 30 m-high asymmetrical structure supported on squinches, in the Lombard-Romanesque style. It is reportedly the earliest example of this form in Lombardy. The façade is decorated by numerous sandstone sculptures, of religious or profane themes; they are however now much deteriorated. The façade has five double and two single mullioned windows and a cross, which are a 19th-century reconstruction of what was thought be the original scheme. Bas reliefs in horizontal bands portray human, animal and fantastic figures. Over the minor portals are portrayed St. Ennodius, bishop of Pavia, and St. Eleucadius, archbishop of Ravenna. In the lunettes are angels which, according to a caption sculpted there, have the role of ambassadors of the faithful's words into heaven.Bronze doors, coloured mosaics, geometric designs, bronze pilasters
The nave has four spans. The aisles have matronaea with statical function. The four chapels in correspondence of the second and four spans of the aisles are a later addition. under the apse, which has a large 16th-century fresco, is the high altar (1383) housing the remains of Sts. Ennodius and Eleucadius. The presbytery has fragments of a notable pavement mosaic with the Labours of the Months and mythological themes.
The crypt, with a nave and two aisles, is located immediately under the altar: it houses beautifully decorated capitals and the monument of the Blessed Martino Salimbene (1491).
The Visconti Castle is a large, impressive medieval castle with beautiful windows from the Medieval period and ghibelline battlements from the height of its power. It is now a museum with exhibits of local art.
Civic Museum housed in a massive palace with beautiful arches, high windows and painted ceilings. Walls of each room are differently painted. The collection is well curated. However, lighting at the paintings gallery and the overall maintenance of the building were not that great. Friendliness of the staff made up to it. There is lot to see and enjoy at a slow pace. Definitely worth the ticket price of €10. Tickets could be purchase from the reception counter.
Pramuditha Manusinghe — Google review
Visconti Castle is a nice place to go to spend maybe 2-3 hours in. Firstly the garden around the castle is very nice and serene (free to access), to enter the castle itself you need a ticket. The reason I gave this 4 stars is that the ticket is €10 per person which is not at all reasonable, and adding to that there is no discount for students (at least that’s what the lady said when we asked).
The castle is a museum as well with nice and interesting pieces of history, including some ancient Egyptian artifacts (which caught me by surprise). The architecture of the castle itself is beautiful, it apparently has 4 floors but we could only access the ground and first floor (which has nothing but locked doors). On the ground floor you can enter the “museum” part of the castle. All in all a nice place to visit, but it felt kind of dead and boring sometimes. And I would not come here again simply because of the unreasonable price, only suitable for a one-time visit.

Certosa di Pavia is a stunning Gothic and Renaissance monastery located in the Lomellina region, west of Pavia. The monastery, built between 1394 and 1497, showcases a mix of Romanesque and Gothic architectural styles. Visitors can explore the wide courtyard, cloisters, monks' cells, and the impressive church dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The interior features rich frescoes, ornate wooden choir stalls, and marble sculptures.
The best! The facade is wonderfully made. The tour is free, you just have to be a bit earlier before the mass.
Now the parking - there is a pay parking near the church but instead what I did, I parked in the nearby villages, same distance, in Via Amadeo & Via Repubblica, see the map. Worth visiting!

Visiting the Certosa di Pavia monastery was nothing short of a mesmerizing experience. Nestled in the Lombardy region of Italy, this monastery is a true architectural gem.
Inside, the monastery's tranquility provides a haven for introspection and spiritual rejuvenation. The impressive church, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, features a harmonious blend of rich frescoes, ornate wooden choir stalls, and marble sculptures.
The cloisters, characterized by elegant arches and manicured gardens, are yet another striking feature of the Certosa di Pavia. Walking through the peaceful cloisters offers an intimate experience of monastic life, while also allowing one to appreciate the exquisite craftsmanship that adorns the walls and columns.
A visit to the Certosa di Pavia is a must for anyone interested in art, history, and spirituality. The serenity and splendor of this architectural masterpiece offer a truly unique experience that leaves a lasting impression.

The 'Certosa di Parma' is really a beautiful church located not far from Milano.
It was built from 1394 to 1497.
Because of that the building is a mix of different styles (Romanic, and Gothic), as you can see from the picks of the review.
I strongly advice to take the guided tour: it's totally free of charge (held by the monks managing the complex).
It provides many insights on the history of the church and the functions of each of the visited parts of it.
Beautifully engraved choir is my favourite, but the visit offers many points of interest.

A park with a huge potential but that unfortunately it's having some problems and this is something that you will notice during your visit. Hope that in a near future they will be able to solve them.

I recently visited this public pool and was pleasantly surprised by the experience. One of the biggest advantages is that it’s not overly crowded, allowing for a more relaxed and enjoyable swim. The entry fee for open swim sessions is just €7.50, which is quite reasonable for the quality provided. Additionally, the changing rooms are a highlight - they’re not only clean but also spacious, making the process of getting in and out of swim gear comfortable and hassle-free. Personally I was here to take advantage of a Smartbox coupon for a ride in a Ferrari.
Very good organization with drivers check-in at 8:30 and explanation of some rules such as hand positions on the wheel, road rules and trajectories to follow explained quickly and very clearly.
Subsequently we moved on to driving on the track with the chosen car: Ferrari F430.
The only sore point is that the cars weren't brand new or at least they had some small problems which, while driving, downshifting with the sequential gearbox brought me up two gears so I found myself in fifth. When shifting the car reacted very calmly.
In any case, the experience remains positive even if the time on the track is very short, about 50/60 seconds to fully complete a lap obviously accompanied by a tutor who tells you what to do.
Driving example: shift up, down, accelerate, open the gas, brake, widen, steer.

(Translated by Google) Highly not recommended! I give one star because you can't give less, the track and the environment seem to have remained unchanged from about fifteen years ago. The cars are really poorly maintained, on the nicest car they have (Ferrari 458) the tires were rotated to save on tire changes. Negative experience, I had deluded myself into trying a Supercar on the track, in reality it was like having a test run with a Ferrari in a driving school. Embarrassing speeds, the staff doesn't give you the chance to accelerate and makes you brake very quickly. If I had entered with my 1998 Panda I would have set the best time on the track. It's a shame because the place really has excellent potential but is not exploited at all.

Sconsigliatissimo!

There are many attractions and it is well organised.
You don't need to look at the details, like the rusty boxes that call toilets without paper, soap, hygiene...

(Translated by Google) Kart track...
The track also looks beautiful from the outside but unfortunately managed by arrogant and rude staff.
I went with the pit but I couldn't go around because they gave us information on the phone and once we arrived they told us completely different things and mostly in a very rude way.
Don't set foot there again.

The structure is obsolete, it needs a complete renovation, from the layout to the buildings. Few staff present regarding tickets and shift management.

(Translated by Google) Nice experience, friendly helpful staff and everyone was really nice, we came here with a smartbox (which unfortunately wasn't up to the price paid, i.e. the experience costs much, much less than the gift box so you might as well book directly) . The only flaws found are the €5 paid parking which seems like a disgrace to me given that you go there to have a paid experience, practically €1 an hour of parking, even if we were in the center of a city, it's really excessive; and another negative note is the truly decadent and poorly maintained structure and the bar doesn't encourage you to take anything. It's a shame because they could make better use of the space they have and offer better additional services given that all those who have driving experience arrive accompanied and therefore many people who could spend more pleasantly entertaining and consuming.

One of the most beautiful visitable caste in this area! Inside a green park, with planned golf park, you can visit a lot of beautiful place, with a low fee.
If you have a couple of hours to spend during a sundat morning I strongly suggest a visit here!

An hour drive from MIlano for nothing, as we could not enter with our dog, as only small dogs are allowed. This vital piece of information is missing on the Castel's site and is not mentioned anywhere else. Shame, as small dogs are often much noisier and much worse behaving, than friendly and well trained bigger dogs. A policy in need of re-thinking or a statement on the site is due.

Great location , well kept and with an incredible history. Alessandro (the owner) is very passionate about this property and he is always looking for ways to enhance the castle and to satisfy his customers with tailor made solutions.
