How long is the drive from Uzhhorod to Lviv?
The direct drive from Uzhhorod to Lviv is 154 mi (248 km), and should have a drive time of 4 hrs 25 mins in normal traffic.
If you’re going on a road trip from Uzhhorod to Lviv, we did the research for you and compiled some great stops along the way — with top places to visit like Uzhhorod Сastle, Transcarpathian Museum of Regional History named after Tyvodar Lehotsky and Natural Swimming Pool, or the ever-popular Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Life.
The top stops along the way from Uzhhorod to Lviv (with short detours) are Palanok Castle, Lviv Railway Station, and The Church of the Holy Eucharist. Other popular stops include Lake Solina, Old Town Studio Przemyśl, and Bieszczady National Park.
The Museum of Folk Architecture and Rural Life is a serene and picturesque destination that showcases traditional Ukrainian culture and history. It features farmsteads, village houses, and a wooden church with an onion dome. Visitors can immerse themselves in the Carpathian village atmosphere by walking or renting a bike to explore the extensive grounds. The museum offers affordable admission fees and is typically not overrun by tourists, making it an ideal location for those seeking tranquility amidst stunning architectural displays.
This place is so beautiful and peaceful, full of Ukrainian culture and history ❤️ At one point I could barely hold my tears because the houses and the objects inside took me way back in time. You can rent a bike to go around since the area is so big, but we chose to walk and it was very nice.

You really have a feeling like you're walking in a Carpathian village :) very cheap entrance and there are usually barely any tourists :)

Very nice place for very low cost. For about USD 1 you may see about 20 authentic transcarpathian Ukrainian national buildings which were found at different places and were taken to this location. Factually it is a little village with houses of poor and rich villagers, pub, school, forge, water mill and even wooden church which is still functioning. All houses are about 150 years old or even more and contain authentic items of home inventory. Each item is very well refurbished. In order to provide authentic atmosphere each house has its backyard containing farm buildings, household stuff and even some animals - hens, bunnies and sheeps. This place is clean and nice. Nearby there is an Uzhgorod Castle.

It's an outdoor recreation of a Ukrainian village. If you have time to kill and are interested in seeing what life was like 100 years ago, it's a good place to experience life as a peasant.
J S — Google review
In the same district, on the eastern outskirts you can get a complete snapshot of Ukrainian traditions and rural life without having to stray far from the city.
There are buses from the Arsenal stop (29, 36, 39 and 50) arriving at the attraction in a matter of minutes.
The museum has 124 buildings, scattered on a wooded hill and relocated here from other parts of the country.
A few of these buildings are open, exhibiting tools, costumes and folk art, or hosting demonstrations of old-time trades.
The must-sees are the house from the Carpathian village of Oriavchyk, dating to 1792, and the wooden church of St Nicholas from 1763, both brought here in the 1930s.

Peaceful historical place. Quiet, you can spend hours trying to imagine how people lived in XV-XVIII centuries.

A most wonderful place - an open-air folk architecture museum - right in the heart of town.

It is absolutely adorable here. You get to see how their culture buildings are which is such a sharp contrast between the concrete soviet union era buildings that dominates the city. It's a very relaxing atmosphere. I do wish there can be a cafe in it that you can sit and just enjoy the serenity.
The Uzhhorod Сastle is a 15th-century stone fortress located on a hill overlooking the town. It was designed with massive walls and bastions to resist Turkish attacks. The castle now hosts multiple museums, including the Transcarpathian Museum of Local Lore, which features collections of regional folk costume, musical instruments such as tremibity (Carpathian didgeridoo), antique clocks and themed rooms that explore various topics.
Very detailed museum actually, can be compared in quality to Slovakian museums, very cheap entrance fee and the inside is freshly painted!

Very beautiful castle, amazing views especially from the top of the castle.
There is not that much to see inside of the castle but the castle itself is quite well preserved is definitely a must see if you are in the area.

We visited on an admission free day; all three floors have different displays and exhibits with local wildlife, ancient manuscripts and books, transcarpathian attire, musical instruments and a "village" set up along the mountain showcasing life as it would've looked like in the previous century.

The castle still have a reconstruction exterior works going. But you can walk inside without any problems. There are bastion and museums... it seems to me much bigger from outside than inside. The payed entrance there but cheap.

Place is quite good for walking, but without stroll (no tools for it, and paths are not for stroll as well). And it is more park then castle

The castle was in rebuilt so we didnt see whole exhibition. And we paid normal price. 40 hrv pee student. It is cheap.
The rooms were interesting, but everything in ukrainian. For those who cant read azbuka is castle visiting only as walking in historical building.
But the surrounding was extra green and made for relax😄😄

Absolutely superb place. In beautiful location. Great place for whole family. Nice and clean water. It's natural swimming pool so no nasty chemicals. Loads of places to eat and drink. Also there is a hotel if you want to stay there.
Dusan Fecik — Google review
The place was very nice, but they only have one swimming pool ( they turned the other one into a chess game) and we were unlucky that they drained the pool because of some mud so weren't able to swim (it shows on the pictures but when it is functional it's quite fun there are water slides. In the area there is table tennis, regular tennis, volleyball, fast food, tourist tracks around if you like hiking, big Tesco 3 min by car and anautocamp that is really nice.

Really special historical place but needed to be helps with the reconstruction and care from local authorities.
Victoria Shklyar — Google review
True castle with it's own special vibe. Very happy to see some restoration works going on.
You have to walk to the castle through an awful "tunnel of shame" because a big part of forest in front of the castle is now a private hotel with a closed territory. A miserable evidence of failed land administration

Old ruined Castle with beautiful view on Uz river valley
Volodymyr Herasymov — Google review
The castle itself is gorgeous. It's a perfect photo set. Unfortunately in order to get there you need to cross a construction site + you will be sharing the road with construction trucks.... while probably expecting the silence of the mountains. I would refrain from the visit till the end of the hotel construction (my guess 2019 at least)
Palanok Castle is a former fortress and popular tourist attraction located on top of a 68-meter-high volcano in Mukacheve. This 14th-century castle offers breathtaking views from the hilltop and features souvenir shops as well as a museum. It is known for its association with Sandor Petofi, the Hungarian national poet, who was held here during its time serving as an Austrian prison.
Very nice big castle, which is consist from 3 castle. Castles are from different century.

A lot of interesting locations, sadly it's Covid pandemic, so we weren't able to enter each exposition, but a lot of them were opened. Highly recommend for visiting

It was nice overall, you can learn about history, legends and have a view over the town of Mukachevo. The only issue is that more than half of the museums were closed as usual.
You have the opportunity to get a tour guide and some souvenirs. Also, it's a good idea to visit the castle 🏰 for the night view of the town, the castle closes at 5pm.

History always had a dark side to itself and this castle is not less than any other. The castle was build for sake of love but the Queen left the castle and ended up in church too clean up after the ceremonies and Sunday gatherings.
Not like castles you will find in England and Europe.

Wow. A must visit! Gorgeous castle dating back almost a thousand years (with changes over time) and stunning views of the surrounding country and Eastern Carpathians. If you do one thing in Mukacheve, do this.

Fantastic place! Big castle to explore with a lot of history and great views of the city. A torture chamber to explore the evils of humanity while sipping on mulled wine. My only critique would be that instead of hosting a few modern art galleries in some of the wings of the castle they should recreate the rooms with how the room world have looked at certain time periods with furniture, etc. No one wants to see modern art in a castle.

Simply amazing castle! I enjoyed immensely exploring every bit of it I could. The views are enchanting, one can just imagine how life a few centuries ago looked like.
I’m admiring the staff’s attitude too - you only have to pay for the entrance (and for a guide, if you like), there are no extra charges of any kind once you are in. Btw, there is drinkable water pumped from the well - just the thing in the hot summer!

Mukachevo, situated in the valley of the Latorica river in Zakarpattia Oblast, Western Ukraine, acts as the administrative hub for Mukachevo Raion. Although it is not technically part of the raion itself, it holds the status of a city with oblast significance, equivalent to that of a separate raion.

A very relaxing train ride, about 45 mins long. The train stops at the end and you get half an hour to walk in the forest (and cross over to Slovakia), have a hot drink / snack from one of the stalls, or visit a Slovakian shop (try the Studencka chocolate :-) ). Then you get back on the train and head back.

Palace of the Counts of Schönborn has a very beautiful authentic facade, great place for making stunning pictures
The territory also has an old well-looking park with really old trees and lake, nice place for a stroll
That’s probably the only good things in here
This monumental building became a sanatorium and not the best one, inside everything are old and shabby, very depressing really
You have to pay a entrance fee, but got no check in return and you can tell those money don’t serve this place, unfortunately no renovations at all
But if you happen to be around you should take a look

Old palace of Shenborn family, has an interesting story where every window, tower and room represents something. Accessible inside where you can see the original fireplace, chandelier and staircases with detailed wood and metal work. The place is a popular destination for wedding photography of local people and looks as great in sun rays as in dark clouds. Not so well maintained inside but nevertheless full of charm. The palace territory is also home to a nice lake and park area. Set aside few hours, or visit on the way to Palanok castle.

Bieszczady Mountains [bʲɛˈʂt͡ʂadɨ] (Polish: Bieszczady; Slovak: Beščady; Ukrainian: Бещади; Hungarian: Besszádok) is a mountain range that runs from the extreme south-east of Poland and north-east of Slovakia through to western Ukraine. It forms the western part of the Eastern Beskids (Polish: Beskidy Wschodnie; Ukrainian: Східні Бескиди), and is more generally part of the Outer Eastern Carpathians. The mountain range is situated between the Łupków Pass (640 m) and the Vyshkovskyi Pass (933 m). The highest peak of Bieszczady is Mt Pikui (1405 m) in Ukraine. The highest peak of the Polish part is Tarnica (1346 m).

In fact, 3/4 of the trip is a film and you have to get to the dam, but the impressions inside the dam make up for the short time spent there. Like any other facility of this type, the dam in Solina is a strategic facility, so you cannot take photos after crossing the power plant gate, although not all Janusze and Karyna are able to understand this.

Been there during the pandemic so experienced only the shop part. A great spot created with passion and beer to be proud of! They have shop and restaurant there so can get gifts for family and friends, or for yourself. They make great cider, one of the best I've had.
Place is clean, has original vibe, there are exhibitions of paintings and sculptures on different levels, you can even purchase them.
Plenty of seats available, family and animal friendly. They say they are 100% eco.
My only complain would be it's overpriced and I don't like marketing they do: everything has to be superb, made by hand and with love, and all that. Just my two cents.

Beside the rocket museum in Pervomaisk and the imperial russian fort at Tarakaniv/Dubno a hidden gem in Ukraine if you are interested in historical army sites. As preparation I recommend highly the book Arpads Line of Joszef Szabo (also in english). Very interesting guided tour, perfect for a stopover at between Uzhgorod and Lviv/Kyiv. Big respect for locals which recovered this site and really did a great work!!!

Been there few times, with my friends and with Sergeant Michael. We loved this mounatain, it took 4 hours to come ontop and 2 hours to come down. We met Kung Fu fighter clan training there and Offroad trucks crew. All were very friendly

You can climb both from Shipot (a vertical but short route) and from Volovets (a 15 km gentle but extremely picturesque route). Be sure to fight for water in the summer (it is absent near the top). Relaxed quarters in a 17th-century castle hotel set within a park, offering old-world dining.
Beautiful castle with nice hotel, which fits perfect into the old building! Rooms are not too large, but they're big enough.

Unfortunately, my room was dirty. Upon checking in at 14:00 I noticed that there was still s**t in the toilet from the previous guest. I have reported it to the reception and I was told they will take care of it. Unfortunately when I returned to my room after the wedding reception (at 3am) the s**t was still there... I was not offered another room nor was the toilet cleaned.

Rather beautiful palace that you can see both inside and outside. The inside has several halls that you can visit with a guide. The walls are nicely restored and the palace looks quite nice. And you can also go around the palace and enjoy the garden. Of course, it’s better to do in warm time of the year. There is on-site hotel next to the palace where you can stay. There is a restaurant on the ground as well. Please, note that you need to pay to enter this park. Parking is also possible inside if you visit the restaurant. If you visit the park/palace only, you need to find parking outside. In general it’s a good place to visit, take a walk, try some food, etc.

Castle itself is awesome, however park is somehow wild. As to hotel, rooms are large and beds are comfy, bathroom requires renovations. Breakfast is moderate

Amazing castle, steeped in history. Absolute must for a visit if you are in this part of Poland. Well worth getting a guided tour great story telling by the guide too (although hardly impartial!). It does, however have a fascinating history.
Dungeons are interesting too, in a weird sort of way, never ceases to amaze me how cruel people can be to each other.

DJ PICASSO LAMBORGINI — Google review
Great place to visit, especially if the weather is good. The castle park is quite flat and accessible, and a gentle stroll will see half an hour to forty five minutes used well. Food in the castle restaurant is very good and well priced, and service is consistently excellent.
Howard Bright — Google review
My great-grandparents met in at this castle. One was working and the other living there. So I was rather interested in staying. What a disappointment!
The vast majority of the rooms are in an unattractive outbuilding. The unappealing restaurant is over-lit with fluorescent lights in a corner of the main area.
The arboretum is nice, but the castle itself has been cheaply over-restored and is quite simply, tacky. There are much better sights in the area and regions, let alone places to spend the night.
Jon Schubin — Google review
nice place overall. enjoyed our stay at the hotel, restaurant clearly understaffed, food so-so, except breakfast. Garden worth seeing but be beware of killer mosquitoes. Funny thing we had no time to see the castle itself as it was our starting point for other trips.

We went up on foot. The elevators were not working. It was difficult, but they did not regret it :) Wonderful scenery and nature. It's not the season, there aren't many people. On the mountain is a "civilization" that froze in time, in the 80s...90s of the last century. Something like a reservation for exiles... and a cell phone station. Frankly, it would be better if there was nothing there at all, this "local business" only spoils the impression. Both ascent and descent are available by two routes - a difficult but fast one and a long but slightly easier one. The road is grass, soil, clay... in bad weather it is quite a difficult climb.

Cons: a very steep climb to the entrance to the apartment, as well as steep stairs and very, very difficult to carry heavy suitcases to the 2nd floor of the apartment, there is no elevator. It was necessary to warn. The pillows are really bad. Small and not comfortable. It is surprising that the owner did not give a bottle of water. Thank you.

It seems to have everything you need. Cons - it's a bit loud, but that's normal, because it's in the center. The biggest minus - there was no bed for the sofa and the child had to sleep with us, and the bed is not very big and strong. Also, the door to the toilet does not close and all the doors are a bit old

Найбільший мінус - не було постілі для дивану і дитині довелося спати з нами, а ліжко не дуже велике і міцне. Також двері до туалету не зачиняються і усі двері трохи старенькі

Very beautiful! It is like a forest inside the city. I suspect it was a really forest in the past. A lot of squirrels, that you might to feed. Very green, clean and fresh air!

Totally wasted place. It cries for renovation at least for last 20 years. It's a shame to have central park of major tourist site in such a disastrous state.
Most of the park trails have asphalt remains, that remember iron boot of soviet regime. You simply cannot pass there with baby stroller, on a scooter or wheelchair for that matter. Stilleto shoes are also not an option. Funny enough some of such trails has signs for Nordic walking.
There's no public restroom of any kind — at least i could not find any or even a sign to it. But there's plenty of... hm... indication of lack of WC under some trees and bushes.
Small and abandoned stream runs through the park, carrying foul smell. But there's small puddle-like pond with couple duck, if you're into that kind of thing.
Bottom half of the park actually has some renovation happened but nothing impressive or even worth mentioning.
Summary: awful place, shame of local government and business, not worthy of visiting, but you probably will, bc there's nowhere to go for a walk in the town anyway
Asya Prosvetova — Google review
My girlfriend and I visited this park in late November of 2014. We found it to be very quiet and romantic. The park is large and gives one a good walk. We found the finches and squirrels to be quite entertaining. We enjoyed our time in the whole Truskavets area.

I love this place! It's a beautiful, spectacular, green Park and it has numerous paths for hiking.
Lviv Railway Station is a bustling hub with the main train station, a large bus station, and nearby attractions like Dvirtseva Square and Chernivetska Street. It offers a different atmosphere compared to the more touristy center of Lviv. Additionally, in 1951, Stryiskyi Park added a new attraction - the children's railway with a length of 1.2 km and two stations.
The church is a beautiful and peaceful place with an impressive history. It was originally built in 1378, but underwent a number of renovations during Soviet rule. After Ukraine gained independence, the church became the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church.
This is an amazing church, you can feel the power of God. When you walk in, your eyes have to process the splendor. In combination with the silence it gives you goosebumps…

The architecture of the building is beautiful. Impressive is this construction of the former Dominican Cathedral.
This is one of the visiting cards of the cultural capital of Ukraine.
External and internal design is collected in a unique ensemble.
The church is built in the late Baroque style on the Western European model. Stone, in plan it depicts an elongated cross with an oval central part and two bell towers on the sides. The church is glorified by a huge elliptical dome. Massive double columns support galleries and lodges decorated with wooden statues by Lviv sculptors of the second half of the 18th century. Above the galleries are drum columns supporting the dome. Under the bath of the church is a quotation in Latin from the First Epistle to Timothy: "Soli Deo honor et gloria" ("Honor and praise to the One God"). I recommend to visit.
