Curve Theatre is a contemporary performance venue located in the heart of Leicester's Cultural Quarter. The hall, designed by the renowned Rafael Viñoly, boasts luxurious seating and showcases both local productions and touring performances. Its main auditorium can accommodate up to 902 attendees while an adjacent studio with its own flying system can seat 350 spectators. Curve has served as a platform for high-profile cultural figures and emerging artists alike.
I came to see Beautiful last night as part of a family group. First thing to say is that the show was outstanding. I go to west end productions regularly and I have to say this performance was as good, if not better than many I’ve seen.
The real reason I want to leave this review is to thank everyone at The Curve for they’re help and hospitality. We brought my elderly mother who has poor mobility and uses a stick. We were spotted immediately and provided with a wheelchair to use. They continued to help us to access and leave the seating. Everyone was helpful, courteous and very friendly. A special thanks to the security guy who accompanied us to the roadside and waited until my partner brought the car from the car park. It was a cold night and he could have just left us wait, but he stayed until the car arrived and made sure my mother was safely seated. We don’t know his name but I hope that he sees this message. Outstanding customer service, we can’t wait to come again.

Took the family to see the Wizard of oz, an awesome night out for anyone young and old. Wonderful scenery, great singing incorporating all the songs from the film. Acting, dancing, singing and props were brilliant. The use of puppetry for Toto was inspired, the wicked witch stole the show for me, even considering getting some Ruby slippers to grab her attention!

Visited for Spongebob the Musical, which was a bonkers, fantastic experience.
We ate in the cafe before the show, which was really convenient. The food wasn't fantastic, but we had envisioned eating at McDonald's beforehand, and it was a step up from that. Prices were a bit higher than a pub, so not ridiculous.
The Theatre building itself was odd compared to all I have visited. The Auditorium being in the middle, with access all the way around it meant that the regular back stage areas were across the corridor from the stage itself. Seeing the actors running back to their dressing rooms was a novelty, but I do wonder how they find it. It was all concrete and brick in the main area, and didn't feel especially welcoming, although the lighting in some areas like the cafe changed that. The staff were lovely. Seats were pretty uncomfortable after half an hour though.
Esther Sweet — Google review
Really bright and friendly venue. Bright colours with pictures of past shows on the wall. You are literally surrounded in theatre. Comfortable seats with plenty of room and great view of stage. Saw Evita.
John Grayson — Google review
Love the building and it's design. You can get a bit miscombobulatd at times, special with the circular halls otherwise it's not conventional and that a good thing I think. Great theater space, excellent seating comfortable just a bit tight when you have to walk over people's feet to get to the middle seats. The acoustics are good and the lighting system is great. Concession stands are well equipped, but could use more alternative dietary options. Otherwise great experience and the shows are good highly recommend.
Fibonnaci Notion — Google review
Fabulous theatre offering a broad range of musicals and theatre. I’ve seen everything from Shakespeare through to west end style musicals and everything in between. The seats all give a good view and are reasonably comfortable. The cafe, the green room, is also pretty good for a coffee and a pre-show snack. Highly recommend.
SP W — Google review
Great production (Matthew Bourne’s Romeo & Juliette). Good seats. Easy parking (pay for your parking in the box office to avoid queues at the pay station at the end). Awesome seeing backstage after the performance when they raise the sides of the theatre.
Troy Jenkinson — Google review
Excellent regional theatre, comfortable seats with plenty of legroom. Always produce some of the best shows around. Lovely helpful staff and the theatre itself is a work of art. Worth the long drive there and back every time!
Michael Cookson — Google review
Such a lovely busy place! Very clean, friendly staff and comfortable seating. Plenty of toilets and reasonably priced drinks. Only issue was the queuing system at the bar; this was a little confusing and not clear what people were queuing for, we felt like we pushed in.
Parking can be purchased alongside tickets (for the NCP next door), you just need to get your parking ticket validated in The Curve. We did this at the interval to avoid doing it at the end of the performance.
Overall a lovely experience, would definitely recommend!!!

We watched the drama based on the movie/novel "The Shawshank redemption" in theatre no. 3. Was an amazing experience. The calm environment with amazingly quiet and immersed audience added to the whole experience.
Kanza Fida — Google review
We watched a modern dance version of Romeo and Juliet. We went a bit before and had a drink. I usually do not do people watching, yet seeing some people dressed up was nice. The facilities were enough to serve the full crowd for the big stage. It felt spacious during the break. The actors were kind of present on stage during the break. We parked right next to the theatre. Although there was some waiting line for the drinks and parking, it was a fun experience.

Amazing theatre, was fortunate enough to perform here with 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea' recently. We had a lovely time watching 'La Bamba' as well, would highly recommend

Worked at this venue recently with a tour show: Cirque The Greatest Show.
It’s a big beautiful venue and very state of the art equipment! The in house crew were friendly and very helpful! The most interesting thing about this venue is the fact that at the end of the show the stage left wall comes up and all the members of the public could see backstage and watch us start the get-out!! What a fantastic way to get people more interested in the backstage industry!!

The Curve Theatre impresses from the outside....until you get right up close to it. I can think of no other modern theatre I have visited where the entrance and exit are so unlovely and uninviting. The street dining area - for the brave souls who wish to have a coffee outside whilst fending off beggars - is tiny and in shadow, which surely defeats the purpose.
By contrast, the inside bar, cafe, and waiting areas are well thought through. There is a wonderful sense of space that is almost cathedral-like in its impact. There is, however, insufficient seating for the numbers seeking it. Given the age(ing) profile of most theatre going audiences in the UK, this is no small matter.
The staff here were unfailingly polite and helpful (which feels like a bonus in these 'post service' times). The toilets, when I used them, were clean and well maintained (which is a definite bonus).
The main auditorium itself is an impressive modern theatre going space with comfortable seats and plenty of leg room (everything that Frank Matcham theatres aren't).
I was here to see "The Book Thief," a brave, powerfully emotive, but relentlessly downbeat, new musical. The staging was drab and spare. The lighting, harsh and sepia. But what unfolded was engaging and enriching. The setting of this musical was historical, but it felt current. Words are still being stolen from us and used against others in ways that should always shock and repel.

Great place, DeMontfort University use this venue for their graduation events. Its a fantastic venue, really well organised.
Ruth Durrant — Google review
Been to this theatre 25 times over the years, as its our local main stream theatre from where we live in Hinckley & it puts on the shows that appeals to us. The staff are friendly and helpful. The theatre is well cared for & is the most modern one we visit. We will visit this theatre 3 times in 2024.
MARK FRITH — Google review
Visited last night to watch my beautiful laundrette, great production in the studio. Few beers and a bite to eat. Lovely evening. Only down side, was the filthy state of the NCP car park next door. Several homeless people milling about. Disgusting state.
LEE JOHNSON — Google review
Went to see a revival of the nineties comedy series Drop the Dead Donkey at Curve. Phoned box office and they arranged suitable seats for disability which was great. Most of original cast so it was a pleasure to re-live old times (most of audience were oldies)
Brought up to date with some pithy comments and digs at politicians and celebrities. A pleasant afternoon's entertainment.
Paul Archdeacon — Google review
Had an incredible time watching heathers at the curve theatre. The theatre is beautiful with really comfy seats and despite our seats being near the edge of our row we still had a brilliant view. There’s no bad seats! The tour cast of heathers really are amazing- would 100% recommend you try to catch it before the tour ends!
The National Space Centre is a museum located in Leicester that offers visitors a tour of the surfaces of Venus, an exploration into the origins of the universe, inhabitation of a module on the International Space Station, and gazing at Thor Able rocket in the Rocket Tower. The exhibits are geared towards the needs of youngsters and many are interactive, including trying on space suits.
It was a fantastic place for the family to visit. Very informative and lots of interactive stuff to keep the kids attention too. The Auditorium was really cool and a great experience , a must do while your here. You can bring your own food if you choose too but they do have a decent selection of food here too to choose from and drinks. Decent gift shop also. Would recommend anyone to go that enjoys anything about space.

A great day out with family, a lot of information inside and different activities for kids.. planetarium one of the best 👍🏻.. good area for eating too.
Car parking available just outside the space center
Muath Gouda — Google review
Much more to see here than we expected! The different levels and how everything was displayed made the experience more cohesive. We were a couple visiting, but could see there is plenty to keep little ones occupied - even dressing up costumes. We went to one of the shows in the auditorium, about the night sky, which was beautifully presented. The cafe offered a range of food, and at surprisingly low prices. The entrance price, though, is quite high (in my opinion), but you can revisit during the year.
Maria Gavin — Google review
Visited today and honestly had the best time! So much to see and do and really interactive for kids and adults! We visited as a family of 3, 2 adults,1 child and the price is really good, especially as you can visit again for a year for free!
The food at the cafe was a really reasonable price and the small charge for a well maintained car park was gladly paid.
The many different sections were brilliant and the planetarium is amazing! The areas are quite big so you don’t feel squashed in and can move around without having to dodge round people which was good!
The staff were all lovely but a special thank you to David, who took time out to speak to my son about a particular star he was interested in that he couldn’t find information about in the museum. Everywhere is really clean (including the toilets) and well maintained, everything worked as it should.
My son is 5 and wants to be an astronaut and has honestly had the best day out!
Would highly recommend to anyone of any age and we can’t wait to visit again!

Fantastic day out, that good we upgraded to get an annual pass. I don't know who was more excited me or the kids. Plenty to see, lots of interactive stuff available for the kids. Gift shop & restaurant reasonably priced & the staff were approachable & friendly. Even though it was half term it was not as crowded as I dreaded beforehand.
Mick ?Moocowmick? Green — Google review
Came in the afternoon time to avoid being busy. Straight in on arrival. Given a map and staff briefly explain for you. Spacious downstairs, lots of different interactive buttons to press for kids. Pictures and costumes with signs explaining everything. Information facts across the walls. When going upstairs it got quite busy and really hot, especially when waiting for the lifts. Didn't stay up there long as it was quite a small space so wasn't as interesting as the main stuff downstairs. It is good to visit on a rainy day for something to do inside. Was also given a free pass to come back as we booked online. Would probably come back. Long ques to come inside the shows, so didn't bother with that. There is also a cafe for food and drinks and a little shop for gifts.

Excellent day out. We had a fab time exploring all of the space center and doing some of their activities. The Sir Patrick Moore Planetarium was amazing and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We will definitely be back for another visit!
Katie — Google review
Fabulous place with a ton of knowledge.
I think it is too much space to cover in one day.
Because it was a Bank Day weekend, it seemed a little bit overcrowded at one point.
I think next time we visit the place we will do it during the week so it will give us the whole spectrum of emotions.
Highly recommend visiting the Planetarium. This was the cherry on the top of the cake for, as we left it for the end of our visit. It was totally worth it.
I highly recommend visiting National Space Center
Mihai Erhan — Google review
I took my 3.5 year old child and he loved it. There was almost to much to take in for him. Although he can’t read most of the displays yet he still had a fantastic time interacting with the different areas around the space centre. There is a large ground floor area with a cafe and some different sections to explore, this ground floor has the Patrick Moore planetarium which is well worth a visit, sit in the middle seats for the best experience. There are 4 floors that can be accessed via stairs or lifts, all with excellent displays for all ages. £18.95 for a adult ticket, under 5s free and that ticket allows you to re visit for upto 12 months for free again. Car park is £4 for the full day. Great value for money.
Gav “Gav” C — Google review
Amazing value for money. Great day out with my 3 year old daughter. Very interactive but not entirely kid focussed, which means adults can enjoy a day here, too. Lots of well put together talks and live experiments from knowledgeable staff. The planetarium show we saw was "We Are Astronomers" and it was incredible - i honestly couldn't believe it was included in our ticket price! This place is cearly all about education and keeping the interest of science alive. They really do honour their motto of "science for everyone." Tickets get automatically upgraded to a season pass when pre-booking online. Parking is a set rate of £4 for the day (card and coins accepted). The gift shop is well stocked, with lots of interesting and fun bits and bobs, however it is all very expensive. Personally, i don't think there are enough bathrooms dotted around which made toilet trips with my toddler a bit challenging, however they are the only toilets i have been in that have both toddler and adult seats, which we found very useful. I didn't try the food at the small eatery, but it did smell amazing and would love to try it next time we go. There is a large hall with tables, highchairs etc and even a microwave for public use to eat home brought food/warm up baby food and it is kept constantly clean by the wonderful cleaners. Ultimately, this place is very cool and well worth the visit. I'd highly recommend anyone and everyone go check it out. The few staff i spoke to were kind, answered all of my questions thoroughly, and seemed genuinely excited to work there. Great atmosphere, not too over crowded (even on a Saturday). Great artefacts and lots of information on past, present and future space endeavours. Very interesting place to visit. Lots of various things going on at The Space Centre, so be sure to check out their website for info on upcoming events.

We had a great family day out at the National Space Museum. There’s plenty to do and we spent the whole day exploring the history of space travel. The atmosphere was amazing!! The facility was clean and tidy, the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was not over priced and the portions were good.
Toby Parker — Google review
An amazing place for kids and adults alike. I've been wanting to come here for ages. There's loads to see, you can spend many hours here learning about the history of rockets, space travel, the planets and universe. Parking is £3 for the day and there is a canteen for snacks and stuff. There's lots of walking involved and the lift to the top where the tips of the rockets are is impressive! Don't miss the weather recording booth. It's a must and so much fun! You can put your email address in and have the video sent to you. Also one of the best things to see and experience is the largest planetarium in Britain. Be sure to not miss this and tilt your seat back for the show - mind-blowing! There is lots to interact with so beware of queues but the experiences are well worth it.
Usman Khan — Google review
Really like this place with the kids, we got a family ticket in Jan and you get to upgrade free to an annual pass so we’ve been loads, it’s good for all ages, my 3 year old and I go the most. It’s good for a hour or you can stretch it the day with the kids. None of us get tired of going up the rocket stages. There are loads of fascinating things to look at interact with and read, we go a lot and always find something new.
You can take your own sandwiches and eat at their tables, when it’s busy they open up multiple lunch halls and seem very accommodating.
The coffees and hot drinks are very nice and reasonably priced, the food is limited.
The toddler days are very good with activities and sing songs and the like, be warned some of the days are premium and you won’t get in with an annual pass.
The shop has some good bits for under a fiver for the kids with the pens, pencils, badges and things like that, there are some expensive things as well.
A good trip out with the kids.
Chad Tolley — Google review
We've absolutely loved spending our Sunday afternoon here! So many captivating things to do and to see! Will definitely come back soon, as we've blitzed through a couple of areas close to closing time.
Parking was more than sufficient, but during more popular times it could get busier. It's a pay and display, I think we paid £4 for the day.
Larisa Rosca — Google review
A great place for learning so much about space travel, missions, equipment and so much more! Highly recommend visiting to anyone who is interested in space.
It might seem costly but definitely worth it! So many interactive things to do as well from watching the shows in the planetarium for a completely immersed 3d experience, to the interactive water area, to landing a luna module there is so much to do while you learn!
Mitchel Cokien — Google review
Wouldn't advise to go during the school holidays as it was a little maniac but that was my error for not thinking. Very educational experience which also was very interactive. Will definitely be back within the year. Very family friendly, cafe was busy but plenty of seating for you to bring your own food too for a cheaper day out.
Megan Ashley — Google review
Really enjoyed our visit here and we are already planning our next trip!
The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. There's so much to read about and a lot of interactive bits for the kids (and also for us as two 30 year olds!)
Easy to find, cafe on site for a quick cuppa and snack.
Great for all ages!
Rachel Holmes — Google review
The entry fee of £18.95 for adults and £16.95 for children felt a bit steep. Unfortunately, the overall experience didn’t quite justify the price. The exhibitions leaned heavily on reading, which didn’t engage my child effectively. The absence of interactive elements made it less appealing for my son, potentially leading to boredom due to the extensive reading required.
On a positive note, the Globe cinema stood out, providing a fantastic experience that somewhat compensated for the
shortcomings.
Chitra Shinde — Google review
Great day out. We spent roughly 4 hours looking at everything in the museum as there is lots to see and do. Particularly enjoyed the planetarium film.
Coralie W — Google review
Visted Easter weekend , this place has so much to offer
We spent hours here ,although I read everything 🙃, plenty of things for the children to do and explore with .The planetarium was amazing and well worth the extra .
Tracey Hill — Google review
Some other reviews suggest that the Space Centre needs 3-4 hours to go round. We were there over 5 hours if you include lunch and watching a film at the planetarium. A great day out!! Definitely buy tickets in advance, and beware that the cost of parking is additional.
Duane Saunders — Google review
The only way to appropriately sum up our visit to the National Space Centre is to say we had a BLAST! Wow! What a wonderful place!
We’re a space loving, nerdy family who generally love this kind of thing - but we’ve yet to find anywhere in the UK that scratched our space shaped itch… until now! The space centre is a fully immersive, family friendly and surprisingly accessible experience that goes to infinity and beyond with its fantastic range of displays, activities, exhibits and more!
The planetarium was breathtaking! We saw the show that was so beautifully done that I had tears rolling down my cheeks.
What was the real unexpected star of the show, was the Mission To Mars experience. It is so immersive that our 5 year old (who is usually the first to spot things that aren’t real) fully believes we went to Mars! It was amazing! She was chosen to hold Ada and still talks about it now, over a month later!
The cafe, while serving simple dishes, offers a cheap and delicious way to eat while sitting under a real spacecraft!
I would also like to mention, that as a hearing-impaired adult, the accessibility of this venue was wonderful. Staff went above and beyond to make sure I was able to get the full experience without feeling odd.
I would wholeheartedly recommend the National Space Centre! Now that we have a year’s return pass (included in online bookings for the price of a single visit) we will be sure to go again this summer!
Hannah Paling — Google review
Had a lovely day here. Very impressed with the SEN provision and understanding both at ticket desk and throughout the day. Nice coffee in cafe and not too expensive. Excellent value as you can return as much as you want for a year under the one ticket. Plantatrium show was also great but my chair wouldn't recline, my only minor criticism.

The Space Centre in Leicester was not my choice for a day out but I felt compelled to go and explore as it's on my doorstep.
There is plenty to see there and although not my cup of tea I could see thousands of people would disagree and loved it, the car park was large but it was rammed.
Children of all ages I could see were captivated by this place which has got to be a good thing , broadening their imagination, plenty of interactive stuff to mess around with.
Well done to all the helpful and well informed staff you're doing a great job 👋

This museum tells the story of the citys industrial heritage, with exhibits on transport, health and hygiene, science and technology. The pumping station itself is a fascinating place to visit, with four steam-powered beam engines from the Victorian era.
Free museum that we stumbled across whilst visiting the Space museum next door.
The staff were very friendly on arrival. Inside there is a nice collection of well presented exhibits looking at local history as well as the main pump room which has the machinery inside.
Overall a nicely presented museum - worth a visit if you are in the area.

Popped into the Abbey pumping station as we had visited the near by National space centre ,so we thought we'd have a look around this museum. It's free to enter, however they accept donations to help keep the place going, we donated. There are lots of interesting exhibits and large steam engines to look at. Its shows out Victorian industrial heritage. Its well worth popping in ideal place to show children around.

This a lovely place to visit, specially with kids. We've been here when was Mini railway day and we had so much fun and the little one liked it a lot. Train ride was 50p, but if you wish you can donate more, which we did anyway. Inside the museum is so beautiful with so many antics to see. The entrance was free but you can donate a few pounds if you wish. They gave us a paper with some questions with some characters and things to find inside to museum, keeping us so curious and entertained. We absolutely loved it and worth to go and visiting.

Free to enter. Some great examples of beam engines. A selection of old cinema projectors etc. Next door to the space centre, so you can combine the visit. Will only take an hour or so to look around. Please leave them a donation, even if it’s only £1. It costs a lot to keep this history.

Fabulous little museum. Very well worth a visit. Be aware there is no food or drink available there though

What a wonderful museum. So interesting the facility. The pump house is still in opperation with volunteers starting her up on certain days through the year and days for steam engines to run.
My boys loved exploring the building for the bugs game and I will admit the wife and I got a bit competitive for the last couple. I was fascinated from the engineering aspect and the change through time.
It was free to enter and they have a lovely little shop to support as well as donations. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful.

Great museum, and they had kids' activities on. Great little train to ride with a 50p charge. The outdoor play area is brilliant and we took a picnic with us. They do have a cafe, too.

This is the next place you must see while you are visiting Leicester. Near National Space Centre. While you approach Pioneer Statue behind, you can see a massive digger from the past century by the main gate. This is the place...Industrial collection of machines and items used it everyday life 100 years ago and more. You can see one of the first electric cars inside the building , how works toilet, how tram works , etc. Great interaction between visitors and exhibits. Excellent place for family day. No admission fee .

A really nice small museum which is right next to the national space centre and is free to enter. The Victorian pump is in amazing condition and is worth the visit alone. Only marked down a star because some of the exhibits and the interpretation is very dated and in need of a refresh although still interesting.

An interesting museum and free to enter. The steam pumping engines were impressive and the rest of the museum suitably interesting. Easy to get round with a pram and there was a lift to the pump room. Free entry as well. Visited after going to the Space Museum next door. Excellent play area as well.

Free museum which showcases Victorian engineering and all things about toilets and sewers. It has lots of exhibits on other subjects as well. Lots of events throughout the year and guided tours.

Delightful small museum, free with suggested donation of £3.
Victorian pumping station, engineering, but with the beautiful styling of the Victorian era. Exhibits from the local area too and guided tours and events on specific dates.
Playground for children.

One of the best museums we visited.
Free street parking.
Free entry.
Toilets on site.
Space Park is around the corner which is paid entry.
No food in the area but many sports 10 min drive away.
Feed the Lion — Google review
A lovely museum with lots of detail about the development of sanitation in Leicester from the early industrial period. There are also some exhibits devoted to the industries, which thrived in Leicester until recently. The beam engines are very well worth visiting when in steam. The little train is great fun and a bargain at 50p a ride. We have been many times, and each time we find something new! Some of the displays are quite dated, but that adds to the experience. The only time payment is required is when there is a special event and tickets for there are very reasonably priced.

Nottingham Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Nottinghamshire, England and one of the UK's most popular tourist attractions. The castle and its grounds are home to world-class art collections, as well as historical exhibits on local history. Tourists can enjoy walks through the gardens or take a guided tour of the castle itself.
It was great.
The exhibitions are amazing.
The staff are the best.
When they saw we are in a big grand we needed a place to pray they emptied a room for us as we were a big group of women and children.
Highly recommend visiting and looking forward to go there again.
Robin hood adventure was great. We all loved the games.

Great place, we took my mum in law out for her birthday, and it was a lovely and interesting visit. £12 per adult, and you then have 12 months free admission, and because kids go free, we will be able to take our grandchildren as many times as we want, win-win, I say 😀. The art galleries and other displays were so interesting, and in my book, every day is a school day. Don't miss out on this experience.

The castle has been closed for so long I was looking forward to visiting finally but it has been renovated poorly. It's nice to look at from the outside but it's sad that there's hardly any original features left after the restorations. Nice views from the top. It doesn't feel like a Castle/palace at all, it's just a gallery now with a cafe and some bits of Nottingham history.
This should be so much better.
The grounds could be put to better use.
Not somewhere you'd visit multiple times.

5 Star Attraction. More than well worth a visit. Activities for young and old alike. Cafe and restaurant great to visit. Food very good. At the moment there is a Paul Smith Exhibition which is out of this world and should be in the castle permanently it is that good. There is thing's to do both indoors and outdoors. There is also a nice gift shop. There is great adventure play ground based on Nottingham Castle

Great castle with a 1 year lasting ticket.
Medium cost.
Has 2 coffee shops with lunch menu also.
The castle has 4 floor dedicated to robin hood, rebellion, modern gallery and art gallery. Children may love the robin hood floor as it has interactive videogames.
There is a lovely children park outside the castle.
You can also pay an extra for a guided cave tour, 25 min long, it is worth, but if you have the choose the city cave tour joined with justice museum is better.

Very nice visit here on bank holiday. Very modern castle due to restoration. Some parts were really nice whilst some were bit empty. However really good visit and nice experience. Everything is kept neat and tidy.

Very interesting experience. Past mixed with new technologies. The place is huge, 3 floors, a lot of history, amazing views, interesting interactions like shouting from a bow and dressing up as peasants :)))) worth visiting. It took us 45 Minutes, but we were in a hurry. I think it may be a 2 hrs attraction. They have a little coffee inside and a souvenir shop. History lessons are done by interactive people on the screen. You can also watch cartoons about certain events around the castle.

My wife and I had a lovely 4 hour trip here on Saturday. It really was a great experience. My only criticism would be that the robin hood adventures was only about 25 minutes long and meant that we couldn't do all the games and watch the film that was showing too. Aside from that it was a great day and really interesting. Thank you
Adam Russell — Google review
Great attraction for both children and adults. Lovely exhibitions on display, with plenty to see and keep you occupied for at least a couple of hours.
We also ate in the café; prices were reasonable, and service was very good.
The cave tour was also really interesting. Our guide James was very informative, and really brought the stories/history of the caves to life. Groups are small, and there’s plenty of time for photo opportunities.
If you’re a Nottingham resident you get a slight reduction on the price of your ticket with proof of address. And don’t forget at the time of booking to ask for the free annual pass; meaning you can revisit the castle as often as you like for an entire year for free!
Excellent value for money, and definitely worth a visit.

Went before it closed for second time very expensive and not impressed. But went again with grandson and his girlfriend on Sunday 30 July thought give it another go and miles better really had great day and ended our trip on cave tour with excellent tour guide and pint of Guinness in trip to Jerusalem and now can go again with same tickets so will be going again also café very nice
Raymondo Bradshaw — Google review
The castle is nice, however, the ticket price is high compared to what is inside and what you are going to do. Some galleries are alright, but it is not a museum and a full tour can be done in an hour. Also, the ticket does not include the cave tour, so you need to pay more for this and it has time slots.

So much to do! Cafe, museum, art, history, and children's craft activities. Plus a wonderful outdoor park. Plus a single day's admission costs the same as an annual pass, 12£ and children are free.

Easy day activity.
We went for Christmas market which was busy and had a lot of good food and things to buy. I was disappointed by how expensive everything was I would have been more inclined to buy something if the price was more fair.
£1 entry was good which included free entry to the castle/ gallery & markets with live entertainment. Would definitely recommend for the experience.

Excellent museum and castle to visit. Well priced at £12 per adult and free for children. Take a picnic - there are lots of grounds to sit in with lots of benches and seats.

I really enjoy wandering around the castle grounds on a sunny day, and taking a look at the art gallery and museum when the weather is not so good. 2 nice cafes and a lovely atmosphere. Tours available but not got around to it yet.

Great place to visit. Beautiful castle with great expositions. Friendly staff with great knowledge relating the history of the place and expositions. Are games to play or dress in mediavel accessories witch you have to return before you live the castle . It is a lovely tea room on site. Beautiful view dow from the castle. They have a souvenir shop .If you want to do the tour for the tunnels under te castle make sure you pre book your tri online. This trip is not included in the entrance price. It is a bit difficult to found a parking space near by.

Awesome interactive and family friendly art gallery and museum with fun activities for kids and adults! Lots of games and local Nottingham history including some lace exhibitions. Kids under 15 go free and we only paid £12 per adult for unlimited access for a year. Will definitely come back again!

This is a great experience overall, particularly for kids. There are many interactive displays, with the archery and quarter staff being very popular. Lots of interesting historical stories presented in very engaging ways (the noose display is bold). The outdoor play area is really well done and if you’re lucky the views from there are stunning. Kids go free and the ticket can be used for a year.
James Warfield — Google review
Plenty to do but it's not really a castle in the true sense. It was a castle and there are remnants of it and the building that is now there was a stately home I think. The ticket you purchase gives you access to the grounds for a year and we visited over two days. I would recommend you do the Robin Hood experience first which is the first entrance you can see when leaving the shop and ticket office. Some good interactive boards, virtual archery and virtual combat, all good fun. Some fun easy games in the medieval area and the rebellion gallery certainly kept my attention with portrayals of Nottingham castle's history. There's a more formal art gallery and currently an exhibition about people moving to Nottingham from the Caribbean and their heritage. Another thing recommended is a tour of the man made caves that wind their way throughout the hillside. The tour guide had superb knowledge and presented in a really interesting manner, Alrighty! I forgot to mention the views from the balcony are interesting and you can see many of the iconic landmarks of Nottingham. The coffee was good from the cafe in the castle that sells a selection of light meals and cakes etc. Presumably the one attached to the shop is similar. Finally the adventure play ground looks interesting and is suitable for children up to the age of 12. All in all a worthwhile trip.

Really nice place for a walk around the grounds- the museum inside the castle is great too, loads to do and see! Reception staff are friendly and helpful. £12 for a year is also a great deal!

Where did the castle go? Costs £5 to find out, but, a good day, great sights and great value. They certainly haven't robbed from the poor and gave to the rich here.
The City of Caves is a tourist attraction located in the Broadmarsh Centre in Nottingham. It is home to many different caves, including morning caves which are dyed in the Middle Ages. The most convenient opening is at Broadmarsh shopping center. There are also domestic and industrial caves available, as well as guided performances with Archie and Annie the archaeologists.
Absolutely stunning!
First off, the entrance is a bit hard to find, especially if you're navigating via Google Maps. Take the stairs next to the Contemporary museum and head all the way down, it's basically under the bridge, at the bottom of the stairs.
Once you've found it, it's a fantastic place! There are over 800 caves under Nottingham, every single one is man-made and had a specific purpose, including the only underground tannery in the UK. The tour is done with a free audio guide that elaborates on all the little details and stories behind the various places you visit, taking about 40 minutes altogether. It's very informative and goes into depth on the history and uses of these caves.
A fascinating place, not to be missed!

What an amazing place to visit! Situated 3 minutes walk from The Museum of Justice. Quick introduction from the guide and you make your way underground. Proper footwear and a jumper recommended as it's quite cool down there and the surface is not even. The whole experience was unique and it took about an hour to complete the tour. The guide (Natasha) was awesome and she kept all of us interested and entertained. You learn about city's rich history with a bit of joke and fun on top. Gift shop available at the entrance. Definitely worth visiting while your in Nottingham.

The City of Caves is a extremely fascinating place to visit. A little difficult to find to be honest but we'll worth the effort. Our guide Andy was very knowledgeable and humorous. I'd recommend sensible footwear when visiting and it might be a challenge if you have mobility issues. Only criticism the tour wasn't that long in my opinion but, still a great place to visit. Definitely recommend.

We did not know what to expect, and it definitely blew our minds. We parked at a bus station car park, and it was a very short walk to get to the caves. Easy to find. Staff were very friendly and helpful, tickets cost us 17.50 for two people on a weekday. The young lady explained the rules and helped to get the audio set up. It is audio tour, approx 40 min.
The caves are quite big and there is so much to see. It was a circular walk. Crazy to think that all of this is hidden under the city. Definitely recommend visiting. And it is good value for money. Hopefully will be back at some point in a future.

Loved going here it was a little hard to fi down but once you know where you are going it's nice, had to download the audio and have a set of headphones and you have to go on their WiFi as there is not much signal down there, I really enjoyed listening to the audio and listen to the story's behind what is down there I would definitely recommend going here to try if you have not already. I would go again if I was to take someone that wanted to go if they hadn't been already, the audio also tells you to mind your steps and head. I booked this over the phone, you can pay over the phone or on entry.

So much fun. Had zero expectations- a cave is a cave, right? But oh my - these are MAN made and our guide gave us a fantastic (Broadway worthy) tour. It was if we traveled through time. Learned so much. Even my teen managed a smile or two!
Tips - get tickets in advance, wear good shoes, don't give up looking for it (please get better signage), and unleash your imagination.

Great museum to see. You learn alot about Nottingham how everyone live in the caves when we were cavemen!
You will need to book in advance by a few days if you want to plan the city of caves and the national justice museum in the same day for the time slot you require.

Not your average family excursion! This guided tour showed the underground history of Nottingham from the Roman period to modern times.
Tours were a bit crowded and rushed towards the end, great for school-aged children and older.
You can purchase your ticket online, at the entrance or at the museum of justice.

Hidden under a bridge near the Bus Station, spent around an hour. Unfortunately no guided tour but an audio tour downloaded onto your phone instead. Helpful staff. No suitable for disabled due to the nature of the caves. Good place to go if you like local history.

Good place to find our some history and have a wander around some caves in a city centre, not many places can offer that.
Pretty well thought out as there is an audio guide that you listen on your phone to and the qr code is dotted around almost exactly in the place I lost it as I closed the window it was on.
If you do, get the combined ticket with the justice museum as it saves you a bit of money, and both are great to go to.

Downloading the audio for the tour before starting, allowed us to walk the whole of the caves at our own pace.

Excellent experience. The tour was 45 minutes long and the person conducting the tour was amazing and passionate. We really enjoyed it, though as feedback, i would have really appreciated that he talked a little bit slower, as not being native made it a little difficult to understand. I would suggest not taking small kids.

Absolutely great experience for my 6 and 11yo kids who enjoyed the walk and guide! Pretty informative and amazing to see history of the caves, what they have been used for and for how long, how many are there …. well how many were discovered until now. Walk took around 45 min.

A fantastic hidden gem. If you visit the National Justice Museum, you can do both on a joint ticket. We had Natasha as our guide and she was fun and knowledgeable telling us about the history of the cave, there use as cellars, beer stores, ice rooms, tannery and air raid shelters. You can also see remains of past buildings hidden under the streets of Nottingham. Few steps and uneven floors as well as low bits but you are warned. Little shop, no toilets

Excellent greeting, very interesting story, just the right amount of information and time (40 mins). Audio guide downloads to your phone, ok on speaker if it's quiet, but earphones would cut out other users nearby. Well worth a visit, reasonably priced too. No tacky gift shop either !

Brilliant. Why on earth haven't we been here before now !! On our doorstep !! So, an easy tram ride in. A walk to The Contemporary and steps down the side of the building, towards a little skate park. Caves entrance on the right. £7 entry - worth every penny. There's steps down, and uneven floors, but nothing excessive. Really interesting to hear the various uses of these caves and tunnels, either via headphones or an app on your phone. Takes about 45 mins - an hour. These caves have been in use for hundreds of years, last used for housing in the 1920s. There's also a little gift shop, video to watch (but no toilets on site - suggested nearest are at The Galleries of Justice, minutes away). Great visit on a rainy day. It's suggested that you book a time slot, especially at peak holiday times.

Exploring the City of Caves was an incredible journey into Nottingham's underground history! The tour guides were knowledgeable, and the caves themselves were fascinating. The difficulty we had trying to locate the City of Caves (poor signage around the city and even locals weren’t sure!) was offset by the welcoming staff.

Really interesting place. Never really knew this place existed. Very glad the caves were saved from the broadmarsh fiasco of the 70s. The guide we have was hilarious. A sort of informative uncle. Terrible dad jokes. But really knew his stuff. I think he siento a little too long on stuff as we ran through the Victorian section to catch up. But an interesting place and looks amazing.

This is a highly useful tram stop, having the transport running frequently in both directions for the city centre! The platform has a great elevation off the ground for boarding the trams and is also of an appropriate length, where you are able to buy tickets from the machine before travelling. It is comfortable to sit down at the benches as well, protected from above by a modernised shelter.

Main square in Nottingham and central point of the city. All the streets originating from the Old Market Square are packed with countless shops, restaurants, bars, pubs, cafes... To bad there are not more good bars and terraces right on the square. However there is virtually always something going on there, whether it is a food market, street performances, the wheel, the summer beach, the Christmas market...

The Motorpoint Arena Nottingham is a large indoor venue which has hosted big name artists and sporting events, as well as professional ice rink. It is located in the Lace Market district of Nottingham, alongside the National Ice Centre. The arena is famous for its large capacity and diverse range of events which can be seen throughout the year.
Went to see a ABBA tribute band with a meal in the Arena restaurant beforehand. The food was absolutely delicious! The band were enthusiastic and kept the crowd happy with plenty of ABBA classics. Stewards were safety conscious whilst still allowing people to ‘strut their stuff’. Fortunately, the demographics meant any ‘strutting’ was at the more sedate end of the spectrum. Plenty of taxis were available outside at the end of night, without having to pre book or use an app. Bathroom facilities were clean and in sufficient numbers that queuing was kept to a minimum.
Debbie De Prisco — Google review
Visit to watch a Alan Partridge. Apparent queue to enter the venue but the security was efficient and professional. The Arena had clear signage regarding where to go and seats were clearly defined. Staff on hand to direct you to seats and even helped get the queues of ladies toilets smoothly running. Toilets were clean! Standard seating, stairs not too narrow. Good view from Block 15, Row K, seats 20 & 21- no need to watch the screens and didn't feel like I was turning my head at any odd angle.
We were very impressed with the entertainment venue and the hospitality. Very good food, drink and snacking options, all at reasonable prices.
The facilities around the was fantastic with restaurants, bars and its closeness to the city centre with parking, tram and bus routes. We used the lace market parking for the venue, with a short direct walk to the arena. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

I would rate my experience here as very good. good atmosphere and sound quality was good. No waiting times, everything was pretty seamless. staff were all kind and helpful. Amenities all well located. The only negatives were, food and drink expensive and I think the acoustics could have been a bit better. All in all I had a good time and I would go to this venue again.

We went to see The War Of The Worlds at the arena and I was very impressed.
It has been a long time since I have been to an event like this and I was anxious.
When we arrived we had tickets barriers and as we had no bags we could get fast tracked through.
The staff was friendly and helpful. A nice steward helped us to our seat as was not that clear as to where we needed to go.
A few people were cheeky and sat in the wrong seats because they were better, the staff were polite and directed them to the correct seats and guided the correct people to their seats.
a couple had purchased some tickets that was in the middle of an aisle but one was in a wheelchair. A female steward was great and managed to get a couple to swap with them so they could have an end seat and got the maintenance people to remove a seat so the wheelchair would not block the aisle.
At the interval I thought there was going to be a punch up, as someone took offense at a couple behind him talking all the way through the first half and told them to be quiet. The couple took this to heart and started telling and becoming aggressive. The steward (a big bloke with a beard) calmed the situation, listened to both sides and resolved the situation in a professional manner.
I want to thank the stawards for their professionalism because without that it could have ruined a great night.

Very impressed with the organisation at this venue. The staff were cheerful and very helpful, from guiding us to our seats to helping people down the steep steps.
The show itself was excellent.
the only thing that let this venue down, for us, was the extortionate prices of the food and drink!

Great venue, easy and quick access without feeling unsafe. Enough bars and food outlets so queues were managable, even bathroom queue between bands wasn't outrageous.. Prices for food and drink were high, but no better or worse than other gig venues. Well placed near city centre so lots of parking, bars and restaurants to choose from.
We were sat opposite the stage but didn't feel far too far away and the slope of the banked seating didn't induce vertigo 🙂
Great light show and sound quality was exceptional. Also helped that the bands were fantastic..

Nice and clean, plenty of welcoming stewards, etc. Food and especially drinks are expensive.
Visited here this evening for the 1st time to come and watch Elbow perform. They were mega, Really, really put on a fantastic performance and i can"t wait to see them live again. First visit to the arena and can honestly say would definitely return again. The queue to get in soon processed and tickets scanned. The venue had plenty of staff on had to help. The venue was clean and tidy. The view was great and looked like it would be from most seats in the arena..

Had multiple problems with Ticketmaster, and wasn't expecting much from the ticket office, as this wasn't their fault, or problem, but was hugely grateful to the young lady who tried to give a tech lesson to the middle aged Dad that couldn't receive his son's gift, then tried to guide my son through the process...
Then she made our days, went and spoke to her manager, and printed out two paper tickets, just like 1986, for me, all over again...
Whatever they pay her it's not enough!
Said it at the time, but thank you once again. Customer care, second to none.

Went to see Michael Bublé and he and the band did a great show. Booking process was a bit tense logging in on time then waiting and searching for tickets but it was worth it. The venue isn't as big as some arenas so we had a decent view up on the side seats which were steep but comfortable. Only dissapointment was that we couldn't take in our own water and had to buy theirs which they wouldn't let us have the top on and subsequently someone knocked over when getting into their seats. The loos were good but there was a massive queue after the gig. Overall a great evening.

My first time at ice hockey and first time at the Motorpoint. The venue itself is decent, centrally located and just a short walk away from the Victoria Centre car park. Points deducted for cleanliness vibes and small seats, though the ushers were incredibly helpful.
Even though the doors were open early for the ice hockey there was absolutely no reason to arrive when doors opened, so more info would have been useful.

a good venue but not enough toilets to cope with a sold out gig. plenty of cheap hotels near by. all the staff were polite and helpful

We went ice skating on Wednesday and had a great time. We paid for 2 snowmen to hell the children stay on their feet but then managed to find another 2 for free for the other 2 children.
There were more and more available as the session went on.
It got crazy busy on the ice mid way through the session.
The boots I had were the best hire boots I've ever had when ice skating. I was really impressed with them.
Overall, it was a really great ice skating experience.

One of the most organized venues I've been to ever. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Amazing food choices. Comfortable seats.
Shadra Bruce — Google review
Been here a few times. Mainly for ice hockey games. They bring such a good energy to the place and make sure to include the audience. The place has plenty of toilets. Reserved seating. Lots of food and drink options but it is on the pricey side eg £4 for a coke. Some alcohol on tap. Merchandise stall for ice hockey inside and outside the building. Lots of events to participate in like raffle, the vault (money in a vault with a code) and you can win jerseys of the players

Great facilities, friendly staff and super clean. Bit chaotic right in the main entrance during events but evens out as the crowd spreads round. Plenty drinks and food places.

First time here. Great venue the sound was fab. Friendly staff, only queue was for the toilets at break. £7.50 a pint which is normal these days but did charge £1 deposit for the plastic cup, which you can get back, but you need to do it before the concert finish's. Didn't have food, but will definitely go back here for another show

Hotter than the hobs of hell for Tenacious D,absolute sweat box, I'd have given 5 if I hadn't felt like i was stuck to the wall with sweat. Great venue though! Seats are comfy, wide and tiered so well that nobody and I mean Nobody stood up which was bloody glorious! Unlike other venues (looking at you Manchester!). Staff were great, location is fab. Great time.

Lovely concert venue. Smaller than other venues so you feel closer to the action. Plenty of food and drink available. Merch was more expensive than I've seen elsewhere.

Awesome venue for concerts. Easy parking just around the corner. The venue is well served with bars and cafes to enjoy something to eat and drink before the main event. And all the staff are extremely helpful from the moment you arrive to when you leave. 💯 five stars all the way

Excellent venue but could do with letters been re painted on steps, also more exit signs, you have to pay £1 for plastic glasses each for your drinks but they are closed when the show has finished so how can you get your money back after?and the town could do with more signs for visitors to the town to know where to go to the arena,
Pictures from our seats block 4 row S seats 20/21

The Woolsthorpe Manor House, the birthplace and family home of Sir Isaac Newton, is a historic house with replicas of his rooms. There is a science room for kids, and a cafe on site. Take Centrebus 9 from Grantham (2.80, 20 minutes) to visit.
Easton Walled Gardens is a beautiful gardens with hedges and orchids on the site of a bygone 16th-century manor house. The gardens offer spectacular displays of flowers in all seasons, including the blooming of sweet peas in spring. The gardens are set in the heart of middle England's countryside and can be explored for 15 years after restoration. Tickets can be bought as special experiences.
What a gorgeous place!! It was my first time visiting this amazing and big garden and it was fantastic as it was the first day of the sweet pea season 💜
Bear in mind that the cafes don’t offer a big variety of food, only cakes and 2 savoury quiche/tart (but not suitable for special dietary needs).

We visited an hour before closing and we were the only ones there. Lovely gardens. Different areas, with different themes. From cottage garden, to an orchard and more formal designs. We spent a while just sitting on a bench watching six red kites enjoying the late afternoon sun. Bliss.
Frances Orchard — Google review
Beautiful gardens, with loads of daffs and tulips out when I visited at Easter. I look forward to returning to see the sweet peas at the end of June. The food in the cafe was delicious and mid-price, and the shop has some lovely, unusual garden bits and bobs as well as the obligatory plants! It didn't take too long for a walk around the whole area, maybe an hour and a half or so, but there's plenty of areas for kids to run around in and some woody bits to hide in, so you could certainly take your time and enjoy an afternoon out. For me it's the perfect place to bring a book and enjoy the sunshine surrounded by colour. The info boards add a lovely touch, explaining some of the works that's been done and the history of the place.
Victoria Parkinson — Google review
Not sure it will hold the attention of kids. Came in February, which is out of season, but the snowdrops were beautiful. I bet it would be very beautiful when the spring and summer flowers are out. Little for kids, but it’s a formal garden, so… There are 2 coffee shops. The one inside the paywall has more choice, but the one by the shop is just tea, coffee and homemade cakes, which were delicious. £10pp was a little pricey at this time of year, but would still come back.
Phil Stevens — Google review
It's comparatively a small garden, well maintained. It's £8/- adult and children below 4 years go free. I wouldn't go again. The lack of variety and compact size of the garden is the main concern. Had a pot of tea, lemon and coffee cake from the Coffee Room. The tea was ok but the cake was dry and cold and the portion did not do justice to its price tag.
Indika Edussuriya — Google review
We're regular visitors to Easton Walled Gardens and always love our time there. The gardens are beautifully kept and no matter what the season, there is plenty of colour to be found in the flowers. Whilst it may only be 12 acres, it is the perfect place to spend a relaxed afternoon walking through the grounds and enjoying its peace and tranquility.
Just be aware, there are some areas that are slightly sloped, that might prove a small challenge to some people, but don't let this put you off, there are gentler slopes or other areas to walk around to make up for it.
There are well maintained toilets and two coffee shops that offer cakes and hot drinks plus a gift shop with lots of lovely things & very friendly staff.
The car park is free to all and there is disabled parking as well.
The site is open on select days throughout most of the year so you can visit whatever the season, which is great!
A lovely place to visit and one that you can't help returning to throughout the year!
Nelly C — Google review
If you need some peace and tranquillity then this is a definite "must see" to add to your list. There are two lovely little coffee shops and a very well stocked little shop where you will find the most endearing little gifts to choose from, as well as a little garden nursery in the The Courtyard.
You must read the information boards as you walk under the arched "porch" into the gardens. The history of this estate is fascinating.
As you walk out of the porch into the garden you are treated to the most beautiful flower show ..... the colour and the scent is so stunning and peaceful.
The gardens are really well manicured, and you will see little robotic lawnmowers doing their jobs of keeping the lawns trimmed.
You have little pockets of interest, so be sure to walk through the whole garden so as not to miss anything out. Do give yourself at least 2-3 hours to walk through it all.
And don't forget to pick up a homemade cake or two from the shop on your way out, a delicious end to a beautiful day.

Easton Walled Gardens is an absolute delight!! I was genuinely enchanted with the gardens.
In addition the courtyard has a very good selection of shops plus a visitor centre. Plus it has excellent toilet facilities.
Within the gardens there is a cafe which does really good coffees and teas plus food.
Definitely well worth visiting.

Grimsthorpe Castle is a country house and park with extensive grounds and gardens open throughout the year. The castle itself is interesting, with many tours available. The gardens are beautiful, and the sun shines on them all year round.
Beautiful and extensive grounds and gardens. The gardens are incredible. Much bigger than we expected. Unfortunately we didn't get round the castle. When we booked tickets online the website didn't give us the option of the castle, only the gardens so we thought they must be fully booked.

Visited this impressive house on a quiet Wednesday. The country roads took us through lovely villages on the way. Beautiful house and gardens. Sumptuous rooms, portraits of the great and not so good. The Volunteers were welcoming and knew their stuff. On site catering is a cute van. Nice facilities and well worth a visit.

Fabulous manor house (not really a castle although there is a turret at one end). Well looked after, lovely ladies to guide us around. superb paintings, porcelain, Chippendale furniture. English history at its best. The gardens were lovely, the biggest vegetables I have ever seen. Well worth a visit but give it three or four hours. There is a tea garden set up with cheery girls and lovely cakes and sandwiches.

Grimsthorpe Castle Park & Garden is similar to Chatsworth house in base of the garden. It is a wonderful place to go. There is a car park for free and you can get a season ticket. There is a small water fountain in the garden. Inside the building, it explained what the king and queen did in the castle.

Visited with my lady for the Festival of The Unexceptional, celebrating normal everyday cars of the 20th century.
We didn't arrive until 1300 so the show was very established and in full swing.
The Castle Park is set in glorious country side with beautiful rolling fields peppered with trees and cows. The parking area for the cars were verdant green lawns set before the house. We didn't enter the house but it was a stunning building fit for a period drama.

Great place, beautiful views and the food from by the ticket office is excellent.
One downside, there are restrictions for dogs in the "garden" and House areas. So if you go with a dog you can have a lovely walk in the park, but not see the special gardens ?

Very good place to visit.. I do recommend the historical members pass and go to as many as you can in a year to get value for money...

As it was described by a volunteer working there, this place is a hidden gem.
A good number of rooms are open to the public and each contains really interesting information boards. If you want additional information, the room guides are excellent and really knowledgeable.
We were very fortunate to visit on the coronation weekend as the castle was themed around the family's connection to the Royal family, including the room where Prince Charles stayed, this room is normally closed.
The grounds are equally impressive and certainly need including in your visit.

A beautiful castle house and gardens with so much history. Advise to book on the house guided tour for all the history about the place, and if unable to climb the stairs there is a 40 minute video that can be watched downstairs
For people with poor mobility a complimentary shuttle bus available from the tea room to the castle, I would recommend a visit to thislovrly place
Katie Bailey — Google review
Lovely place to visit, unfortunately it was raining heavily so a long walk around the gardens wasn't so nice and it was during half term week before Halloween so I was greeted by a lady in a pointy hat and sparkly cape!
There was only one person, an appropriately dressed and in character, volunteer butler, taking us around on a guided tour, telling ghostly tales in each room which unfortunately we're so dark, I had to use night vision to photograph. Thankfully they came out pretty well. All in all, very nice, must go again during the summertime to enjoy....in a different light!

The National Civil War Centre in Newark is a great museum that tells the story of the 17th-century Civil Wars. There are diverse exhibits and living history events, so it's perfect for anyone interested in learning more about this fascinating period in history.
Great museum with interesting artifacts and very helpful staff.
Lots to do for all ages, highly recommended.

I have been a couple of times and I must admit to being a tad disappointed. There is so much history in Newark and there are some interesting pieces in the museum, but for me it just didn't come to life.
On a positive note, there is a good dressing up box to keep children and some adults entertained.

Marie O'Boyle-Duggan — Google review
I'm in two minds how to rate this. There is a broad overview of the British Civil Wars of the 1640s (and to give credit it's good they use this terminology) but there is actually relatively little artefact wise. You could easily cover the exhibits within an hour. There are volunteer/re-enactors floating about who are helpful and informed. As a jump off point for the town Civil War trail it's worthwhile including but not necessarily as a standalone visit. If you already have any insight into the period you are not likely to learn much new and there are some gaps.

Great little museum for all ages. My grandson and I have been several times. Free entry for Newark and Sherwood residents. 4 stars rather than 5 because several of the interactive tables weren't working - given that its the school holidays they really were essential to young people getting the most out of the visit. Even the 20 min cinema show was shut ! Always clean and we'll displayed, history is well explained. Generally there's a separate display upstairs. Toilet facilities great. Cafe in the same building, as well as visitor information displays , children's activities often on. Parking nearby (car park fees).

Today we went as part of a home Education group to do a workshop with Donna. Her energy and enthusiasm was exceptional. The interactive armour dress up was great!
This place is an amazing learning resource!
It was also brilliant to see the resident artist Vanessa Stones Artist on the top floor where our children did some craft houses and put them together.
A very great addition to Newark right on our doorstep. First time we have been and looking forward to return for family day on Saturday and spend more time exploring the other three floors we didn't have time to visit!
Awesome place and will be returning!!

This is an interesting museum with lots of artefacts and displays about the Civil War and the history of Newark.
The information is clear in most areas. However, the film was very disappointing. It looked to be an interesting film but I am deaf and the film did not have subtitles so l was not able to understand what was happening.
There is a lift to other parts of the exhibition.
The staff were friendly. There is a café and there is a payable car park nearby.

Newark Air Museum is an attraction for aviation enthusiasts with a wide range of iconic jet fighters and bombers on display both outdoors and indoors, along with accessible cockpit experiences. The museum specializes in research and development aircraft, showcasing some stunning pieces. The facility is located on one level, making it easy for visitors using wheelchairs or pushchairs to navigate through the exhibits. A souvenir shop offers a variety of options except diecast items, where visitors can purchase mementos of their visit.
Great museum. Incredible in the sunshine. My husband had a great time. We both enjoyed a drink and sausage roll in the sunshine amongst the planes. The gardens there are incredible too, well looked after. We even left with some purchases from the shop.

Great air museum with a wide variety of aircraft to look at both outside and in two hangars. Its best to have some pound coins on you when you visit as if you're lucky the volunteers will occasionally give tours of craft and allow you inside cockpits for a small donation. Nice little cafe too serving a good cup of tea and a little gift shop.

One great guy who is a volunteer, he told us about the different types of aircraft guns and the ammunition that's used.
Plenty to read and look at, not much for interaction for the younger kiddies, but the shop have plenty of toys for them 😉
The volcun is a welcome site as you arrive, awesome site to see.

Nice lad on the Reception. It was a quick visit on a wet and windy day, 27/12/22, £10 adult entry which is well worth it to try and keep museums going! Great place if you're into aviation.
Plenty to see and do. I think it's mainly about research and development aircraft and there's some real beauty's.
Everything is on one level, so ok for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
There's a souvenir shop, which has lots of choice with the exception of diecast. There was a few Corgi, but that was all.
Great place for all the family. Well worth a visit. Entrance for adults is currently £10.

Had a grand day here wandering around the exhibitions. Most of the collection is either outdoors or in two principal hangers. Still overall good value foe money if you like aeroplanes. There is a cafe on site.

You can spend a nice couple of hours here with younger children, but probably not the best place to take a teenager unless they happen to be plane enthusiasts! The Vulcan was definitely the highlight, and there were some interesting exhibits for grown ups. The café was definitely worth visiting, serving delicious cakes and tasty coffee.

Newark Air Museum is a great Cold War museum with two hangars packed with aircraft and many external exhibits.
On the day we visited the Vulcan Bomber was open for tours, our guide was a Vulcan crewman and gave an insight into their operations. On my previous visit the Shackleton was open, but it appears that it is presently undergoing renovation. They've also upgraded their cafe since my last visit, the facilities are excellent. Did I mention that they also have a great model and book shop, well worthy of a peruse.

Free parking, free entry and although only a small museum we were given a tour and filled with information about Cranwell Air base and all the people that were stationed there including the present King, Lawrence of Arabia and Frank Whittle to name a few. Cafe on site as well as a complete aircraft out the back. The gift shop has some nice items so pop in and find out a bit more about Cranwell and you will not be disappointed.

A great little hidden gem! The museum is just off the main road and was an ideal stop off point for us with kids after several hours in the car. There is plenty of parking in pleasant surroundings in the countryside.
The museum was relatively small but had lots of interesting and interactive elements which the kids loved. There was a small dressing up area and a flight simulator. There was also a full sized aircraft in the courtyard to enjoy your lunch next to.
They have a small shop and cafe with tea/coffee/ snacks. The lady was lovely and very kind in showing us the different things thd kids could try out.

Tattershall Castle is a 15th century castle with battlements, moats, bridges and grounds to explore. The building has outstanding historical knowledge and helpful staff combined with superb visual aids. The props were a little skimpy, but the visit was still enjoyable thanks to the Lancaster bomber overhead.
Lovely day out, quick top while in the local area. The church is also stunning, take a moment to go inside and look up. The graveyard is also worth a look, quite a few headstones from 1880s. Made my way up to the top of the tower for some sunning views.

One of the best castles we have visited. There are a lot of steps to climb but for those that are able, its well worth a visit. There are four floors so you can catch your breath in between each floor. You will find plenty of information in each room and at the top the views are stunning. There's a small shop where you pay the entrance fee and you can buy bottles/cans of soft drinks, there's also a toilet block not far from the shop. Ample parking too. Plus there's a room with clothes replicating the period to dress up in and take photos of yourself.

Much more to see than we expected. A friendly and helpful guide tells the story of this magnificent brick castle and its various owners. Fantastically extensive views from the roof. No coffee shop, but the church next door goes coffee and cake (but closes quite early!). Plenty of tables for a picnic.

Admission was about what you expect. We paid for a family ticket which is £25 for 2 adults and 3 children. Also bought an ice cream from the shop there and the prices were surprisingly very reasonable!
You can go to the top of the main house which has some really good views around the local area.

It's a very lovely castle and it's well looked after. Beautiful grounds around the castle, a moat and a church. It's situated in a nice little village and very easy to access.
There was plenty of parking on the Saturday that we went, although I can imagine, peak summer, it may be busy as the views from the top of the castle on a warm, sunny day would be beautiful.
Lots of useful and historical information is dotted around the castle, which is great for those looking for an in depth knowledge of the castle's history.
The staff were very friendly and polite as I find they always are at national trust places.
The only disappointment for us, at no fault of the staff, was that the basement wasn't open due to the amount of rainfall we've had lately overflowing the moat and flooding the basement. However, it's only a 40 minute drive so I'll certainly be going back in the summer to enjoy it in full 👍

We visited Tattershall Castle with two of our grandchildren. It was a flying visit as we had booked to visit the Petwood Hotel for afternoon tea. That said we had time to visit the church next door that was very nice and under some restoration work. From there we walked the short distance to the National Trust reception for the Castle. The team were very helpful and gave us useful information for the visit. We had time to climb the 149 steps to the castle roof. Although you need to be vigilant with young children climbing the stairs, they are actually quite wide and there are many windows, so well lit as well. We arrived on the roof for spectacular views in every direction, stunning.
We descended back down and walked around the rooms at the bottom. There are floors to peruse, but as said we were a bit pushed for time.
Stopped back off in reception as our eagle eyed grandchildren had seen the second hand books for sale. We bought them one each and one for myself. With that we left for our onward journey.
The castle has a lovely location and well worth a visit. We are national Trust members, so would certainly recommend to visit if you're in the area.

A small entrance follows into a lovely car park, lined with trees. The path follows past the church and into the castle grounds. There's grass for picnics, but the toilet is on the outside of the site entrance. The castle is a great walk around, steeped in history. Not just the history from long ago, but we enjoyed reading the graffiti from the last 100 years or so. The views from the top are great, well worth the climb up the stairs.

An unusual castle here with the red brick facade. I imagine it looks even better on a sunny day. To fully experience it, you need to be prepared for the spiral staircase to get to 80% of it, although it is a wide and easy one as spiral staircases go, and has a good handrail. There isn't that much to see in each room, other than a fireplace and a few info boards, but the building itself is quite intriguing to explore. The views from the top are then quite vast, but be prepared if it's cold and windy as you step out. Sadly no cafe here, but there are a few sweets and lollies in the reception, and there's toilet facilities and free parking nearby. Whilst there aren't any grounds to explore like many NT properties, there are public footpaths along the waterways.

I adore this place. I love its location. You can't go wrong. The church is very sweet and interesting too. Lots and lots and lots of spiral steps! Ample car parking. Interesting, inviting chambers, garderobes, fireplaces and wonderful views. NB. No tea shop!

A beautiful and unique castle with some old history. The tower/castle is quite tall and interesting, you can climb at the very top of it. At the very top the feeling and the view is astonishing... additionally you can descend in the castle cellars as well it's not so big to explore, but still interesting to visit. This place have a small tradition with the wedding's stuff. So you can often see some bride's and etc taking photos of themselves to remember. The price for the adults tickets is 8 pounds, for kids i think 4 pounds each. But prices are quite fair i Guess. It's a nice place to spend time with your kids and families. My verdict - 7.5/10.

We had a lovely visit to the castle. There is a picnic area on the old bowling green and toilet are accessible before entry. Castle is well maintained and has some fantastic views from the top. Found looking at the centuries of graffiti dating to 1604 fascinating - nothing changes! Staff very friendly and knowledgeable.

What a beautiful building in wonderfully kept grounds, warm and informative welcome. There is no cafe and the toilets are behind the reception. The castle is grand with plenty of history, once owned by a Cromwell and then Charles Brandon, Henry VIII best friend. 144 steps to the top which is a challenge but worth it for the view, if you decide not to go up, review my pictures. There is very little in the building, mostly empty rooms, with couple of reading locations. After return back down you can enjoy a ice cream from the shop

I really liked this castle. It has been well preserved and has links to old mate Curzon who perhaps had more a sense of heritage protection than I had previously given him credit for considering his flamboyant expenditure in showing off his wealth in other areas of his life. Really nice place to spend a few hours.

Lovely grounds, small shop where you can buy and ice cream but no other catering facilities on site.
Personally my favourite aspect of the castle is the medieval graffiti. It gives a different insight into our past.
Inside the castle is pretty empty. Good views from the top.

Tattershall Castle is a fascinating place with its unique four towers. Although my initial expectations were moderate, I was pleasantly surprised. The castle offers guided tours that are led by passionate and knowledgeable guides, adding a deeper layer to the visit. The picturesque surroundings and the castle's history make it truly special. For history and architecture enthusiasts, it's an absolute must-see. I highly recommend it!

One of the oldest brick buildings in the uk and kept the kids amused for a few hours. 150 stairs to the roof but worth exploring. Nearby airbase is noisy, but adds things for the kids to spot!

Lovely castle, had a great visit, went up to the roof and had great views of the surrounding countryside, we then popped into the church next door for tea and cake.

We attended a Heritage event day, and there was a little bit of a queue outside to get in, I think we were a bit keen! There was plenty to see at the Castle, the staff had put out games for the kids to play as well. We were fortunate with the weather, showed the beautiful scenery all over when you walked to the top. The views were amazing. There were talks during the day, which provided the history of the castle. There were lots of information boards to show what part of the castle was what and the history behind when it was destroyed and rebuilt etc. Well worth the visit.

We had a wonderful visit to Tatershall Castle; we were staying in the area and decided to make the most of our membership. We anticipated the castle being not much more than ruins (we didn't read up beforehand); however, much to our delight, it was well-kept and restored in the early 1900s before being handed over to the trust. It has a fantastic history, and the restoration (no doubt with later support works by the trust) meant that the building has stood the test of time. Whilst there's not much furniture or elements, the architecture and history are worth the trip - plus the fantastic views from the roof! It's well worth a trip if you're in the area.

The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Visitor Centre is a must-see for aviation enthusiasts, with interesting displays including the only remaining examples of the fighter planes used in the battle. The centre is located in an old military hangar, and provides guided tours that last around one hour.
Well worth a visit, the museum contains a brilliant display of WW2 aircraft including Spitfires, Hurricane, Dakota and the world famous Lancaster bomber.
The display can only be seen with a guide as it is set within a operational RAF base. The guide was very knowledgeable and told various fascinating stories about the history of each aircraft.
If you are lucky there might be a flight display of typhoon aircraft which take off on training runs on a regular basis. The best place to view this is in the plane spotters car park which is situated few hundred yards from entrance of the museum. Highly recommend

Very friendly knowledgable guides. Such historic aircraft kept in immaculate flying condition. I don’t need to say any more. It has to be worth a visit for anyone just to see the aircraft up close you can’t not be moved.

Excellent guides really knowledgeable and very approachable and friendly. A well organised event with good car parking.
Our lovely lady guide even took photographs for us in areas we could not enter. Would recommend it to anyone who is interested in WW2 aircraft. There is a small museum as well which has lots of great information and photographs. Also a small cafe plus toilets.

Loved it. Superb tour around these historical war birds. So much to see and learn from the guide. Ours was amazing. See the maintenance and technical crew at work maintaining them ready for displays around the country.
Great gift and coffee shop available with reasonable prices.
Free parking and before you go in walk along the fence line for a view of the RAF Typhoons.

Wow! This is an absolute must for anyone with any interest in WW2 aircraft and history. Very interesting guided tour and being so close to the famous aircraft it's a real pleasure with lots of opportunities to take photos. Your visit also helps to preserve these incredible historic aircraft.
Another big bonus is that this is on a working RAF base so you can drive just up the road and watch Typhoons flying! What's not to like? 😁😎

Absolutely amazing place, highly recommend visiting here. Very reasonable entrance fee.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable, polite, answered our questions fully and even gave up some of his dinner hour to allow us to see the display typhoon, Anarchy 1, take off.
Very impressed with our tour and would definitely visit again.

Wow, what an experience. This place is a must see, value for money free parking and a tour that is just under a tenner you will not be disappointed. The visitor centre is well laid out, and the hanger tour is fantastic, last for over 90 minutes and the knowledge the guide has is amazing. Please support these guys and go and see, you will not be disappointed.

The chap doing the tour was really interesting with plenty of information about the aircraft on view. Would recommend this tour and will definitely visit again. We were lucky to have the added extra of the Typhoons practicing above us.
Many thanks for a great tour.

A very good time spent here. The guided tour was excellent and well presented by our guide, Colin. A good number of aircraft undergoing service work as we were taken around. The museum was very interesting with plenty to take on board. We used the small cafe for a good cuppa and the shop seemed well stocked with items mostly relating to the BBMF. For me, it was a little emotional too as one of the aircraft belonged to the Squadron my father did his national service with in 49-51.
Time well spent, go see for yourself.

Visited on the members day at the end of September 2023 thanks to a good friend. It was a busy day with maybe 1500 people. The hanger was open with vendors selling some very interesting army surplus type gear, beers, books and more. The main event was outside in the sky as it was flying day. The Lancaster, three spitfires, and hurricane and a P51 Mustang were all flying and it was a fabulous privilege to see these warbirds back to life in the sky. Bring your own folding chairs as it's standing on the concrete looking up for the most part. The cafe is pretty good with Eccles cakes, sausage rolls and a good selection of sandwiches. I'd you can use the overflow car park as it's a much shorter walk to the cafe and hangar.

Amazing place to learn and see history of the flight. Paul the guide was really good and shared some really interesting information. The planes were fantastic to see up close. The tour is approximately 90 minutes. There are toilets and a small cafe. The centre is accessible to those with mobility issues. Highly recommended.

It is a fabulous place. The knowledge of the guides and their passion is second to none. Seeing the aircraft up close is a joy and the stories of those represented is guaranteed to bring emotion. A must visit if you are in the area.

Arrived a lot early my mistake and the cause of my only negative comment, the cafe was closed!
The tour, the guide and the aircraft were and are Superb. The guide brought history and the technology to life.
Our visit was crowned by the return of the Lancaster fron Ireland, we heard her fly overhead, magnificent, we watched her taxi to the hanger and watched as the ground crew moved her into the hanger. We even got to chat with the pilot who came over to chat and answer questions.
A truly wonderful experience, and who cares about a cafe anyway?

Had a great tour guided by Nick. Very detailed explanation and history of the aircraft and weaponry, coupled with knowledgeable historical context. It is a working hangar with technicians servicing the a/c. There is a great exhibition providing a good background to the Battle of Britain and the Bomber campaign.
Very reasonable cafe + shop.
Well worth a visit.

Fantastic tour from the lovely James who was not only funny but incredibly knowledgeable about all things Battle of Britain. Some of the stories he told were very moving. He was great with the children in the groups and got them involved in the tour too. He was generally just a fabulous host! The tour was excellent and totally worth the very small entrance fee! After the tour, we also saw Typhoons taking off and landing and were also lucky enough to see the Lancaster wheeled out for engine testing. What a beast!

There's not a lot there other that the guided tour which lasts about 90 minutes. There's a small museum 2 small rooms and a small gift shop.
The coffee shop is really nice and serves a decent coffee or tea. Shame about the view though.
If you want to see the planes flying your better off going to a show.

Amazing aircraft exhibition on RAF Coningsby, featuring six Spitfires, two Hurricanes, a Lancaster, a Dakota and two Chipmuncks, which are all regularly flown by RAF pilots.
Don, our volunteer guide, was brilliantly witty and delighted us with inspiring and moving anecdotes from the country’s brave past. Thank you for an inspirational visit, I will definitely return.

We've been planning on visiting here for so long !! Only open Mon - Fri, as weekends are generally when the various planes are out at shows etc. Tours start at 10.00, currently there's no need to book as it's the quiet season, but advisable in the school holidays breaks and summer months. Very friendly, very informative staff/volunteers. The museum/information area is free, and definitely worth a visit if your time us limited. The tours are 1 hr 30 mins, although ours almost ran into 2 hrs (which, if I'm honest, was a bit too long for me !). But, extremely interesting, there's the history aspect, and the very real physical planes in front of you. Amazingly restored ... and, of course the Lancaster !! RAF personnel apply to be stationed here (engineers) the pilots have to train to pilot these incredible old machines, the fly in their own time - the dedication to keeping this alive is quite something. A little cafe provides drinks and snacks. Toilets. There's no bags allowed, but phones with cameras (on flight mode) are allowed. Big car park with no height barrier. Great experience, well organised, very reasonably priced.

Had the 12:30 tour on Tuesday 2nd April 2004.
Guide was great and very knowledgeable, nice to hear some old stories about the planes and the pilots that fought for our freedom back in the war.
The layout apparently has changed from its old format, and this is for the better. We got up close and personal to spitfires, chipmunks and the mighty Lancaster.
The highlight for myself though was due to it being a working hangar, there is movement and work happening throughout. And because of this we got to sear, hear and smell the startup of a merlin then watch a spitfire taxi out ready to go for it's first flight of the season.
Will be going back at some point no doubt.

The working hanger holds amazing planes, you need to be there to be amazed. Simon our friendly and helpful quide showed us many planes and explained there history in great detail. It was deeply touching to see one of there Spitfires was carrying the decals of 303, my dearly departed Polish Grandfathers Squadron.I can't say how amazing that was.
I can't recommend enough. Great cafe, gift shop and museum too. We will definitely be visiting again. Thank you everyone in front and also behind the scenes. I helped me enjoy my birthday perfectly .

The Rest is a small, chic and budget-friendly hotel in the heart of Lincoln, with city views. The on-site coffee shop is open to guests throughout the day for drinks and snacks, as well as to browse newspapers at weekends. Rooms are stylish and comfortable with private bathrooms. In the morning you can enjoy a continental breakfast.
A really lovely hotel in the centre of Lincoln, the room was exceptional with a few extras like snacks & other bits… a really nice touch! It was very clean with a large stunning bathroom. Steph was so friendly and relaxed with check in/check out, she couldn’t have done more for you and was only an email away if we needed anything. Couldn’t recommend more, we will be back!

We were staying here for my daughters university graduation and how pleased we were with it too. Our stay here was perfect, from the communication we received to the ease of access, to the beautiful room and bathroom provided. The bed was comfortable, with good quality linen and mattress and all the extras you could need ~ kettle, selection of drinks, iron, ironing board, fan, smart TV ~ basically we wanted for nothing. The owners even returned to the property to leave us extra milk and decaffeinated coffee as we were arriving later and then very kindly removed our suitcase and safely stored them as we needed to leave early too. To summarise, I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel for a stay in Lincoln's beautiful Cathedral Quarter and I look forward to returning here again on our nostalgic returns to Lincoln.

We parked just down from the apartments which worked out well with 24 hour parking. The apartment was warm, comfortable and very clean in a perfect location for down town and the historic area around the cathedral. It is on a steep hill, but is about halfway up so not too tiring either way! It was a lovely quiet location with a tuneful wren outside in the early evening singing away. A handy table and chairs are outside your door too. We liked the kitchenette and would have made use of it had we stayed longer.

Wow! What can we say about The Rest and the wonderful hostess Stephanie? I booked two studio apartments for my daughter’s graduation. Stephanie could not have been more helpful, providing us with a convenient check in and check out time which accommodated our arrival and departure. Being halfway up Steep Hill, it’s an excellent location for graduations or other events at the cathedral. The apartments were spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable and quiet, guaranteeing us a good night’s sleep. The extra touches were incredible and could rival any hotel. Complimentary toiletries, beverages, fresh milk and cookies were included. For a small fee Stephanie provided a generous continental breakfast which was delicious. The outside area of the apartments was clean and well looked after, giving a wonderful photo backdrop, with tables and chairs on the balcony area. We had a wonderful stay and I could not recommend it any more highly. We will definitely return. Thank you so much Stephanie.
Lincoln Castle is a Norman fortress that was later used as a prison, with exhibits and guided tours. The castle is located in Lincolnshire, England and has been open to the public since 2015. The restoration program that was completed in 2015 opened up the walls of the castle to allow for one-hour guided tours. The tours are included with admission and can be found at the eastern gate.
Really enjoyed our evening at Lincoln castle. We paid to go in out of usual hours as it was quieter and we wanted something to do once the shops had closed before we went for an evening meal in the centre. The castle was great to walk around and the staff were helpful and friendly. Even out of usual hours the gift shop was still open too but the exhibitions aren't but that's why it's a bit cheaper than in the day. Will definitely be going back again soon 😎

We didn't pay to go inside but nice to walk through the grounds and read some of the history. The court house is very grand. Accessible to walk through with push chairs or wheel chairs.

Love Lincoln, we've visited a few times but never looked around the castle before,we must have spent 4or5hours soaking up the history and really enjoying our day out.
Standout moment for me was walking around the battlements of which the views are absolutely stunning,we will definitely comeback again in the near future, Lincoln has so much to offer.

Enjoyed the Christmas lights with the family, only did the cheaper version and not the illuminated wall walk. The walk takes you straight down the main pathway, lit up by sparkly Christmas trees on either side, there's a big lit up archway that fires out fake snow every couple of minutes which the kids love. The walk then takes you a short distance around the grounds, lit up with fairy lights and shining deer too.
Theres a burger van and loo's and is suitable most of the way round for a wheelchair or pushchair although there are steps at the end so you might have to turn back and go the same way again.
Big fairy light bauble for cute photos too.
Staff friendly and helpful.

What a great place to come for a walk, a chill, some drinks, or with the kids. In summer the grounds have food, drinks (bar) and there's a band stand kicking out live tunes. A wonderful grassy area to sit and enjoy the food or to just relax and watch the world. You don't need to pay to every the grounds, but you will if you want to walk the perimeter wall (recommended) and visit inside the old castle and prison and of course the Magna Carter. Well worth a visit on a nice day.

Really lovely experience, nice little gift shop. Grounds well kept and didn't see any litter at all. Did the wall walk which was a reasonable price for £11 per person with the audio tour. I'd say without the audio tour, it's not worth £11 as you can quickly walk it. Would be good if they had different price points for just walking and with the audio tour as I'd like to do it again but don't need the tour again.
Toilets could be maintained more frequently, there was toilet paper all over the place including the sink and the bin was full and overflowing
Other than that, had a very nice time

Great place to visit if your in Lincoln. I particularly liked the dragons poking out of the wall, they growled and smoked.

If your into history great place to visit. Dye to covid restrictions we couldn't go underground or into the courts but still worth a visit. It was foggy on and off when we visited which just added to the atmosphere. Unfortunately the Magna Carta was not on view but the Charters of the Forest (no photos allowed) where and these are classed as more important as King John sanctioned them where as tge Magna Carta is a revised addition by his son who took the throne at the age of 9. The prison within the walls is very spooky lol.

Wonderful tour of the castle, a very beautiful and well-kept garden, the magnificent walk on the high walls made it possible to see the castle from another angle and see the beautiful landscapes around it, like the beautiful cathedral. A little pricey as it only took us 2 hours to look around but the prisons were nothing like anything we've seen before so that was interesting. The wall walk was also very long compared to others we have been on. The town around the castle was also very charming with lots of places to eat.

A really cool castle, so much history!
You can walk round the top of the castle walls, where you will get some fantastic views across the city and beyond, especially if you walk to the top of the watchtower! If you do the wall walk be aware that it's quite narrow on places and there are lots of steps, so not great if you can't do stairs, there is a lift up to the walls but it was out of order when I was there so just maybe ask at the ticket office if it's in order before going round to it if you need the lift.
The Victorian prison is also so fascinating, so much to see and some hands on activities as well. There is lift access to the different floors as well if you can't do stairs.
Nice walk around the grounds too, where you may spot a dragon or two! You can go right up to the front of the court house building but it's still a working court so you can't go inside, but the security guard came to the front to tell me all about the court house and it's history which was really nice. All the staff across the site were incredibly friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
All in all a great day out for all ages!

Been many times, went for the Xmas illuminations one weekend night before Xmas and although I didn't pay to walk along the top wall it was well worth going and paying a reduced price just to see the lights around the grounds.
Plenty of food and drink options if you needed them but not oversaturated with stalls. Was well worth the visit.

We need to return as we only managed to see part of the castle on our visit. This was mainly due to the fabulous tour guide, Vic, who regaled us with facts and stories about the castle and Lincoln itself, often deviating from the 'script'and going off at a tangent. He was excellent and his talk lasted longer than expected. This is a great place to visit, well worth the entrance fee which is only paid to visit the walls, and the indoor sections.

The magnificent Lincoln Cathedral is a must-visit in Lincoln, England. boasting a Gothic design and once the tallest building in the world, the cathedral houses some beautiful stone carvings as well as a Wren-designed library.
As a non religious person it was still an amazing opportunity to see the architecture from year's gone by. The pure scale of the building is amazing and all before huge cranes and lifts. The cathedral was free to enter although there was a small charge if you wished to take the extended tour, which I believe also had a guide. If you take the very informative open top bus tour it will save you the long trek up Steep Hill and you can use the bus 'Hop on/off' for two days.

We have had the chance to visit the Cathedral which was splendid for a donation of £5 each, which seems reasonable when you think of the splendour of the monument.
A woman from the church was also so welcoming and friendly. She really mare us appreciate our visit.
And the attached pictures do not do justice to the beauty of this Cathedral.

It is a fantastic building to explore, and once you pay for admissions, you can visit as often as you like for the year. They do a good selection of tours from ground tours to roof and central tower tours and book on the website. There is a shop and cafe to visit to with the cafe stocking a good selection of drinks and food. Dogs are welcome in the cathedral with the understanding that you will clean up any mess. You can also get a joint ticket with the castle. They also hold events in the cathedral, so best check the website for details

It is of course totally spectacular and well-worth a visit. Quick tip: if you enter before 10.00 am they do not charge and you can choose to make a donation instead. This information is not on the website which says the cathedral is open to visitors from 10.00 am. Some on a tight budget may appreciate this opportunity. The normal entrance fee is £11.

It was brilliant and stained glass windows gorgeous. Found a quiet place for a prayer . Didn't like the paper guide as it was dark purple with red circles and writing not clear and no difference when I turned torch on. Little labels at places would be better. But I lived coming back and will do so again.

Beautiful architecture, simply stunning! It used to have the oldest tower in Europe at one point.
We had free admission - not sure if it was because we got there late afternoon and was a bank holiday?
Well worth a visit! Make sure you also use the light projector to show you where the IMP is to!! (£2?)

Fabulous place! A beautiful and truly underestimated cathedral. Magnificent cathedral and history - well worth taking the tour for extra info. There is a great cafe/restaurant next door which is in a lovely setting. Disabled access is good and ramps everywhere to get around

I first visited Lincoln Cathedral as a boy, and have always found it to be awe-inspiring. Our most recent visit (24/02/23) proved this yet again. It was great to see the west front free from scaffolding after extensive cleaning and repair work, and it now looks fantastic! As for the interior, it is majestic, with stunning architectural detail that is rarely matched these days (not that we don't have some excellent stone masons, just that they are few!). There was an atmosphere of peaceful reverence inside and we had a wonderful time wandering around the various sections. But what impressed me very much this visit was the new visitor's centre, cafe, and gift shop. There's an exhibition room filled with fascinating stuff, as well as a hands-on interactive room that's fun and interesting (for adults as well as kids!). The whole area is well-designed and the staff were exceptionally helpful. Overall, an amazing visit that we thoroughly enjoyed. Most parts are accessible for pushchairs/wheelchairs and there are clean toilets available. We gladly paid the £20.80 entrance fee for a family of four, especially after discovering that it takes around £17000 PER DAY to keep this beautiful building running.

What a special place this was to visit. Although I’m no longer religious, it’s hard not to feel closer to divinity inside this church. Our tour guide - wish I recalled his name! - was wonderful and quite funny. As a Mason, it was a little disconcerting to learn that this was the site of a trial of the Knights Templar in 1310, but it’s still good to visit history. The rainy day when we visited added to the ambiance; a very beautiful and impressive structure.

Wow absolutely stunning. We visited last week, bringing my two young children. They both enjoyed the experience and looking at the beautiful windows and learning about the Carhedral. When the sun catches the windows, it is absolutely gorgeous.

What a Gorgeous Cathedral! Pictures really don't do this place justice. Parking is a little difficult but just find a place on a side street or there is a car park about a 5 minute walk. I would definitely recommend a visit here if you love architecture and old world cathedrals.

A visit to Lincoln Cathedral is a must if your ever in the city. Its absolutely stunning inside and out. Its £11 per adult which includes a guided tour (times may vary). There is plenty of information on the the history of the construction of the Cathedral as you walk around. There is also a gift shop and cafe situated at the exit.

Lincoln Cathedral is a marvel of Gothic architecture dating back to 1072. Legend has it that in medieval times a mischievous imp burst into the Lincoln Cathedral, but was quickly cornered on a pillar by an angel and turned to stone. The impish figure, known as the Lincoln Imp, a symbol of divine intervention, can be spotted in the cathedral. Definitely it's worth hearing the tale by the cathedral's guide. It's also worth visiting the cathedral for Luxmuralis, a captivating light and sound experience.

I attended two Concerts by Candlelight by Kinda Dusty (The Beatles and Elton John). It is the perfect setting for this type of event and the revenue raised must help with the maintenance of this magnificent building. Both in the rain and sunshine, its presence is glorious.

Now that is a cathedral. 900 years of history tied up in it's stonework. Multiple styles of architecture. It's absolutely worth the money to walk around and if you get a chance go for the rooftop tour to see behind the scenes and the amazing views.

Staying in Lincoln for 2 nights on business. Took a leisurely walk up to the cathedral and wandered around the narrow cobbled streets. Very quaint, lots of history and ideal for a peaceful short break.

Absolutely stunning cathedral! The architecture is beautifully done, and the stained glass windows are a some of the best I've seen. There is a small fee to enter, which is fine because it goes to keeping this beautiful place in good condition.

It's a great place to visit, the architecture and everything with a lovely cafe. Parking near the castle mound was easy to walk to from the cathedral.

A magnificent building, well wirth the steep walk up to it.
I did the normal ground tour at 1030 which was really informative, it was lovely to see the light coming through what is now my favourite stained glass window - the bishops eye. At 3pm i did the roof tour - i always enjoy these at cathedrals but have never done one as it was getting dark before. It was an experience I'll never forget.

Very steep walk from town to cathedral but discovered that there are free parking spaces around it if you can find out how to drive up there. One side is free for 1 hour and other side is 2 fee hours so plenty of time to park and go in. Entry is free up to the main entrance then you have to pay to get to all areas but I was able to take some nice pictures of the stain glass from the entrance without paying to go in. There is also a bus that takes you from bus station to the road that runs past the cathedral and everything else that you may want to see.

Had a lovely few hours looking around the cathedral. Very much a stunning place to explore. The addition of the globe in the centre was really nice and the kids loved it.
Great that entry includes annual passes if you do gift aid and kids are free.
My youngest enjoyed the crafts as well and has some great art work to bring home.

Awesome, spectacular- oh there are just not enough adjectives. This is a must see. It is huge. The details are incredible. I am sure you could go every day and you will always find something new to see.

We visited for a quick walk around the cathedral. The building is vast with many different areas for different purposes. It's sympathetically lit, making the most of its features. While not being religious much of the symbolism is lost on me, the beauty and peace of the place is not. It is impossible to imagine someone conceiving of the finished article before the first stone was laid as there are so many intricate details to discover and each space within the cathedral has its own characteristics.
Well worth a walk up the hill for a day spent in the cathedral and the surrounding ancient city.

Visited yesterday, and we were blown away! Not only by the cathedral its self, but by the upkeep and global display. Didn't get long as we toom the free parking outside, but we would definitely like to return and spend longer, and get to know more about the history of this amazing place

I have visited this cathedral many times and always find it stunningly beautiful. Now that the facade has been cleaned it looks even more fabulous. We went this time to mainly see Gaia but we took the time to also enjoy the cathedral as well.
The new cafe and gift shop are a great improvement too

Excellent tour up to the roof with Dorothy our expert guide. She had a great deal of knowledge coupled with a great sense of humor which made this more enjoyable. Great views of Lincoln from the roof and beautiful views into the cathedral. Cathedral was stunning and this was a fabulous way to spend a couple of hours.
The Museum of Lincolnshire Life in Lincoln is home to a range of exhibits that take you back in time to see what life was like in the city throughout the various centuries. Amongst the collection is an authentic World War One tank, Daphne, which has won prestigious national awards. The museum is fully accessible and open year round for visitors to explore.
Excellent little museum with an eclectic range of exhibits and very friendly staff.
There's a cafe on site but it looks like it's been closed for some time so take a packed lunch.
Good, clean, fully accessible toilet provision plus free parking and entry. Donations are encouraged so stick a few quid in the box!
Worth seeing.

Amazing amount of information there. The staff/volunteers are so friendly! We went around Christmas and they had a man with an according at the front, playing Christmas songs and that was lovely!
It’s unfortunate about how tricky it is to park, but that might not be helped.
Think it could do with updating because I went on a school trip about 14 years ago and everything is pretty much the same. Could do with being more interactive too I think as not everyone learns by just reading signs.

Totally amazing free, museum.
Full of fascinating objects, as well as vintage life displays and vintage vehicles, including a WWII Tank from Bovington.
Please give a donation to help support this excellent museum. Staff are very helpful and friendly too. Note: limited free parking spaces available.

This museum was fantastic so interesting one off the best I have ever been to loved it we spent a few hours there,it is free and free parking if there was a charge I would have gladly paid as it was that good
David Washington — Google review
The museum is free, set within old RAF barracks, has a larger collection of items than expected, and easy to spend 1-1.5 hours wandering through.
The theme throughout is a bit interesting - it’s more like a museum of English home life, military, transpiration, and artisan businesses with a collection of random things that touches upon Lincoln sometimes vs. Specifically telling the history or info of the Lincoln area.
You sort of wander from room to room not quite sure what is coming next, but each new room has something interesting to draw the eye.
It wasn’t very busy on a Saturday afternoon in August.
Also gas toilets and a used bookshop, and kids play area in centre.

On the way to London we stopped by for a visit, we thought it will be a 10-20 minutes visit, but we spend around an hour for a quick scan in this hidden gem.
The place is much bigger and has more displays than we have expected.

Great place to visit, with no entry fee!! Helpful staff and lots to look at and enjoy, particularly if you are of a certain age.
Comfy, compact 2-screen cinema in an old sports pavilion, showing new releases and classic films.
Very enjoyable. Great location, good show in very nice place. Lots of cinema artifacts took at. Prices good for admission and ice cream. Well worth a visit. Recommended

What a fabulous place !!! Steeped in history, quirky, and great to see a film. Intermission halfway !!! A grand piano playing by itself in our studio, I understand there's an old organ in another. Excellently priced, as is tea/coffee and the confectionery. Really friendly folk serving, highly recommend. Read the info, which says ample parking - omitting to say there's a height barrier !! There is parking in the front of the building, but this was full of cars when we arrived, we found a space opposite tucked into the wooded area. Probably best to book as one of the studios is only 21 seated. Lovely museum like reception area. Will most definitely be going again.

We came here for the first time a couple of months ago and we thought it would be a great place to see the new Bond film.
It was brilliant to see the Organist coming out from the stage in the interval.
It reminded me of being a child when there was always an interval and the ice cream seller’s would bring out refreshments.
The venue is brilliant and its like going back in time from the seats and the foyer, and the prices are brilliant at only £7.50 a seat and cheap drinks and treats.

It's been an ambition to visit this cinema for years. It was a lot better than I expected. The Kinema itself is a jewel in a world filled corporate chain cinemas. Prices were lower than big cinemas, the seats were great old fashioned drop down velvet. The sound and picture quality was excellent. There was even an intermission with an organist who rose out of the stage. Well worth the 90 mile round trip.

This is a must visit attraction when visiting Woodhall Spa. Unique cinema experience. Modern digital cinema and sound in old World surroundings. If your lucky you might get to see the organist rise up from below the stage during the intermission remember those.

Absolute must if you are in the area. We visited for the 1st time yesterday and loved it. Great price tickets, snacks and drinks. Good size screen and we had plenty of leg room. We were in screen 1 and was lucky enough to experience the man playing the organ in the intermission. We were all blown away. It really is just such a joy and not to be missed. Highly recommend

Gorgeous cinema with comfy seats, space between rows, coat hooks on the wall above the radiators, and in a genuine vintage buidling. Traditional box office at the door. Lighting, piano and organ, intermission in the film etc - it all adds up to a magical experience. Sells usual range of popcorn, sweets, drinks alongside hot and alcoholic drinks. Lovely memorabilia displayed throughout, including a spitfire cockpit (!) and movie related items. Lots to look at whilst waiting. And the latest releases shown alongside some classics! The small 21 seater theatre (no.4) can be hired privately.

Wow, I absolutely love this place. It's a great experience. Tickets, food and drinks are reasonably priced. Would love there to be a hot dog stand or similar.
We have been twice, last time in screen 4. We would have liked there to have been an interval in that room too, for toilet break. All staff were really friendly too

We had our second visit here on Saturday, we love this cinema, so small and personal, we were in screen 1 which all the seats had plenty of leg room, even room to stretch your legs out. This cinema still has an interval in the middle of the film for refreshments and ice creams. An organist pops up out of the stage to give you entertainment until the film starts again, brilliant. Would highly recommend a visit here.

Our first visit to this oh so lovely throwback “Kinema in the Woods” cinema.
Located in the small Spa town of Woodhall Spa in Lincolnshire - approx' 18 miles from Lincoln, the Kinema in the Woods is a real gem.
Set in pleasant wooded surroundings, the location was very easy to find and had ample parking.
The foyer was a real treat with wall to wall movie memorabilia - I could have spent hours and hours just browsing.
We were in cinema number two, it was compact with very comfortable seating and even had a piano at the front, cinema number one even has an organ.
In a nutshell we loved every minute of our visit and wouldn’t hesitate return and also to recommended it to all - a definite 5 star rating.

It's the most beautiful cinema I've ever been to. The curtains and luxurious seating make for a thrilling cinema experience. The wonderful old organ in the main cinema is a huge treat to see in operation. Just like my great-granddad used to play in the cinema 🎥 I've been many times, and I'll go many times more. Gainsborough Old Hall is a large, timber-framed 1460 family home with medieval features preserved including wings, a grand great hall and a kitchen. It is an interesting place to visit with its quirky layout and history.
Very interesting. Quiet. Lots if information, must admit it was a bit cold, go well warmed up !! Huge place, far bigger than we thought. Lots of stairs, the children were loving it. Guides were well informed. Nice little cafe/shop. Made very welcome, great views from the top of the tower, parking nearby was very cheap. A hidden away little gem, with a riverside walk nearby should you want to stretch your legs.

What can I say I wasn't sure what to expect looking at the outside of the hall but it's like a tardis on the inside so many rooms and plenty information if you want to read it. I would say it's worth a visit and suitable for all ages. Although there is no parking for the hall itself there is plenty parking nearby at a reasonable cost. Their is also a lovely cafe and toilet facilities.

Gainsborough Old Hall is a lovely place to visit. It is quirky and really interesting. It is such an old building with such a varied past. The walls and floors are so wonky you have to see them to believe them and wonder how the building is still standing. They certainly don't build them like that any more.

Such a little gem of a place. The house is exceptionally well kept and is full of a lot of history. Really friendly and informative staff. Theo in the visitor centre was above and beyond the most passionate amateur historian we've ever met. Rare treasure - lovely way to pass an hour or so. Very knowledgeable guides and amazing to wander from room to room. Kitchen was one of the most incredible bits of architecture I have seen.
Park in the Riverside car park and you can see the English Heritage flag directly behind you (town side).
Lovely little cafe; cherry blondie was amazing, and tuna melt toastie was too.
We visited Roche abbey on same day to explore local area a bit more. Gainsborough didn't seem a town to wander around in...

What a fabulous medieval building. Steeped in history and once entertained Royalty. Given its location, and surrounded by "normal" houses, you'd be forgiven if you thought it isn't as old as it is. Well worth a visit

What a great place to visit!
It stretched a lot further than I expected from the outside and many great rooms to see.
I would have liked a few more "information boards" in the rooms however, as you were often left wondering what it had previously been used for (maybe because they'd rather you buy their guide book).
Staff are super-friendly, adding to the experience. There were a couple of them randomly dotted around. However, I felt that they appeared to add little value (as werent really chatting or helping you to understand what was around them). Overall, it's definitely worth seeing.

The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway is a preserved train line that offers both museum exhibitions and rides on vintage steam locomotives. Considered one of the top heritage lines in the UK, it provides a nostalgic and enjoyable day out for families at an affordable price. With various events taking place throughout the year, this railway can be easily accessed via public transport links and travels through the picturesque Worth Valley from Keighley to Oxenhope.
Great little railway. Not too long but still plenty to see & do on the line. There is a big engine shed at one end with lots of locos and other stuff in. All the stations are done up well and considerately too. Parking is easy and access off each station is good as well. Plenty to see and do for your moneys worth.

Went on the elf explorer was really good. My son absolutely loved it. He loves trains and we love the steam trains. Parking isn't brilliant we parked on a side street. Got given a few car parks to use which was confusing me when said walking distance but was 1.7 miles away which is fine if not slippy. The grotto was nice and loved the little extras. Food was OK but not the best. On the train we loved the elfs singing but thought would be better if the kids knew the songs so they could join in. Santa was good and crackers and things on the table were nice little extra. I would go again

We had a great day out and climbed up into Haworth village. Warning. This is a very steep climb if you go directly. You can go by following the road to the left which is more gradual. You end up near a clinic, you should then turn left and this lane will bring you to the village.

This was magic, a great place to visit. The staff where helpful and couldn't do enough, we got the day rider tickets and were very well priced, Every station is beautiful and lovingly restored. Beautifully preserved heritage steam railway station in a fantastic setting with friendly and helpful staff. A short but very steep walk to the local park and historical Haworth main street. All of this plus glorious steam trains with smell of coal and steam and the toot toot of living history.

The KWVR is tremendous and I would like to thank all involved who made our day so special.
We moved to Haworth almost 3 years ago and one of our favourite events is the beer festival that they organise. October 12th check it out! This sparked an idea to get married in the exhibition shed where they hold said beer festival.
5 months of planning, alot of ideas and massive help from my amazing friend and wedding planner Bev. We (she) transformed the place.
The whole event could not have been achieved without the help of Noel, Sam and all the staff at the railway. They were truly fantastic and highly commended by all my guests. They also made sure my wife's prosecco never reached the bottom !
Getting married at St Micheals and All Angels Church in Haworth and then down to Haworth Station to ride a steam engine to our reception is an unforgettable experience. I mean who rides a vintage train to their reception! All our guests were in awe and loved the entire day. Again all made possible by KWVR!
They even on the day put a canopy outside the station because you know it rains in July !
Food arrived (hog roast) and staff made sure and asked me and Krisha if we needed them to get us a plate.
We cannot rate them highly enough. I really hope they do more weddings there as its a truly amazing venue with truly amazing people.

Hall Farm Park is a small family run farm park located on the edge of the Lincolnshire wolds. It features a magical woodland walk, animals outdoors and in, crazy golf, karts and mini golf. The cafe on site serves up great food at reasonable prices.
Family last minute day out decision, local and easy to get too.. few venues like this around this area, but I have to admit. This one is one of the better. Layout is better thought out. Pricing is better and competitors.. enough to keep the Family entertained and interested.. lovely farm...

We have very young grandchildren so we tend to judge outdoor attractions by how good they are for the little ones. Hall Farm Park is excellent. There is a very wide range of play activities for different ages, all kept in excellent condition and all very safe. There are plenty of animals of all sorts. Some are in outdoor paddocks so you can walk around and look at them (most of them seem to want to come up to the fences and interact. Other animals are in pens in a large barn where you can get up close and personal with them if you prefer. Our grandchild timetable meant we could only spend an afternoon there but you could easily spend all day as there is so much to do.

A great little place to bring the kids out for the day with plenty to keep them entertained 😊. There's a mini golf ⛳️ course, a little go-cart track, a choice of playgrounds, including an indoor play area 😀, as well as the animals to look at and feed, and you can even have a tractor 🚜 ride for a small fee of £1 😜, nice little cafe 🍵 on site too x

Went here for my daughter's friends 5th birthday party, lovely place, very clean and the tractor ride with cow feeding was thoroughly enjoyable 😊 to add to this we all got to walk a goat each, they're so characterful and pull a lot harder than any dog I've ever walked! Even though we were there for a party we checked out their prices for a return visit and they're so competitively priced, better than others in the area! Will definitely be returning with the girls soon! Thank you for a lovely time!!

We've visited a few times now and it's a great place for all ages. The goat walking & cow feeding on the tractor is a good experience. Fantastic price for a full day out and so much to do. The only downside is the food - not much choice, quite basic meals and could do with having more indoor seating, especially on busier days.

Wonderful family day out. Children loved it. Good interaction with the animals and fabulous play areas for the children. Happy kiddies = happy adults. Especially loved walking Eddie the goat and feeding the cows.

Been here plenty of times with my kids and it’s brilliant for the kids, the whole experience is brilliant. Came today as party guest for my nephew and I have to admit the party experience is shocking! He wasn’t made to feel like a birthday boy at all, just like normal admission. The party food bags were terrible, a bun with half cheese and half ham, 2 pieces of cucumber and a bag of crisps! On the whole the place is brilliant but the party experience could be a lot better!

It was great. We visited during the Easter break. Our 5yr old loved it. Lots to do both outside and inside. Go karts, sit and ride toys, soft play barn, petting barn, zip slide, park areas, tractor ride to feed the cows crazy golf and more... Staff were lovely and the cafe served lovely fresh food reasonably priced.

My family and I visited the farm today with friends and we had a great time. There is so much for the children to do both indoor and outdoor. It’s a great place to enjoy a bite to eat from within the cafe and also sit and relaxed whilst the children enjoy the soft play area. Feeding the animals was a bit hit for our children and they also enjoyed a tractor ride to feed the cows. All in all, a very good day well spent.

Water logged fields on the way there, shows how wet the day was, ALL DAY! But still had a great time. The kids and my Mum had the best time on the slope! We spent most of the day in the playarea but all 3 of my girls thoroughly enjoyed it. We got soaked to the skin toward the end, but still had a blast, girls fed the animals in the barn and we wandered around looking at the other animals. Thankyou for having us Hall Park Farm!

Spent a lovely day here with the grandkids and at home time found that I had a flat battery on the car. A young staff member who was actually off duty at this time went above and beyond to use his own leads to jump start my car and get me back on the road. He was so helpful and refused the offer of a tenner to treat himself and did it with a smile. He made my day and his help was greatly appreciated. As a family venue this setting should be so proud of their staff. Well Done to all .

Really lovely farm for a day out with the kiddos.
While the grounds aren’t that big and there isn’t as many animals as other places we’ve been, there’s plenty to do for slightly older children. The play area is big and a wide range of activities.
The goat walking was a really fun addition to the day and feeding the animals was a great experience.
The cafe and shop are reasonably priced and facilities are well kept.

We've been today for the second time with our 19 month old daughter and we loved it both times. It's perfect for either wet or dry weather, the tractor ride is fab and there are some lovely animals. We were also particularly impressed by the indoor toddlers play area. Thank you.

A very good place to visit incorporates the sobriety project a project to make the canal barges accessible to all particularly the disabled. Very good cafe all areas are wheelchair friendly. For sale is the home grown veg fruit fresh from the allotments. Even got a play area for the children. Parking is good and free.the staff are very friendly and a wealth of knowledge 😇😀

Super place. Interesting building and a friendly welcome. Staff are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Extensive, well-kept and displayed collection of antique and often beautiful maritime objects. We were lucky to be there when a tour of the docks was about to leave in one of their traditional narrowboats. Good for families too with cafe and little shop of interesting items.

Loved this little museum! Great for anyone interested in boats, waterways, the old way of life and history of Yorkshire industry and transport. Encouraging to see the volunteers and beneficiaries of the Sobriety Project working and eating on site. Disappointed to find that the boat trips round the dock only run in school holidays, but otherwise we enjoyed our visit. As visitors to the area we were glad of Google maps to help us find it!
Grace Hutty — Google review
While the work that has gone into this museum is terrific, it is not a place where you can expect to spent a whole day. Children will be entertained for only a short time but there is a good hours worth of reading for the adults.
HOWEVER, we did visit on a day when the boat trips were not operating and these would make a visit to The Waterways Museum much more fun for everyone.
ALSO, there is an interesting adjacent nature trail available for able-bodied visitors to enjoy during suitable weather. Unfortunately, being disabled, we were unable to explore this feature.
Hull Remembers — Google review
Was excellent when operational but has been closed for approximately 14 days now with no plans for it to re-open in the immediate future. The people at Google Boat house Marina club did tell me the council were hoping to do something with the place but no-one knows what as yet. Some large vessels and the tom pudding tugs can be viewed as they are still moored on the canal. They can be seen by walking through the yard at Goole Boathouse and walking along the canal bank.

Don't even bother, don't waste your time... dreadful experience, tried to visit this place yesterday, a horrid little Scottish man with no teeth pounced on us on entering saying "can I help you " like we shouldn't have been there, when I said we wanted to look round he said don't you want a boat trip, I replied I didn't realise you did boat trips , he replied very sarcastically that's why I was asking if I could help you , he was very aggressive, sarcastic and in need of some serious customer service training. I just left immediately , people like him should not be working with the public, what a pity this place employs people like him ... it will never be busy with attitudes like his . you should be ashamed little man .

So much information contained in a relatively compact space. Lots of detail simply told. Great for kids. The cruise around Goole docks on their tug Wheldale is so well worth it. Very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff too.

A great place that we have visited for many years. A massive disappointment to find it closed at the spring bank weekend. And no longer open on Saturdays too, which is the only day we can visit with our disabled son.. I hope it isn't the beginning of the end for such a brilliant little place

I'll never travel to Kingston-upon-Hull without this trip planner again
The Deep is one of the biggest aquariums in the world, with over 3000 creatures including sharks and sawfish. It's located in Kingston upon Hull, England, and is a great place to visit with kids or even adults. The aquarium has a variety of exhibits that make learning fun as well as feeding displays for divers to feed the animals by hand. There's also a restaurant on site.
What a great aquarium and museum! Kids absolutely loved the cute penguins. The big tank was really impressive, from all the angles as you walk through all the floors of the building. We didn't get to use the elevator with a view, but staircase did just the job. And even better I think as we had more time to look at the fish from every floor. Café upstairs has amazing view over harbour. Plenty of toilets and seating areas, all very clean and tidy. Staff everywhere happy to answer questions and tell kids lots of interesting facts. Lots of interactive tables and screens. Gift shop has a lot of stuff too. We couldn't get time slot to come in online, but they were happy to sell tickets once we have arrived at the desk. Tickets are valid for 12 months after any amount of visits after the initial one. Definitely place to bring kids for couple of hours!
Agnes Belle — Google review
Excellent day out. The building is well signposted and accessible. The facilities are clean, well lit and smell pleasant. The staff are all helpful and knowledgeable about the animals. The ticket is well worth the money, as they're also annual passes as standard.

Easy way to spend a couple of hours with the family. Can seem expensive but you get return visit for a year free. For the summer holidays we expected more child related activities to be on the go and fun zones.

This place is pretty cool. The whole site is set up really well so as you walk around nobody is in your way,you can take your time reading and watching all to see. We did go on a Saturday and was very full of families with children but was still enough room to experience everything.
We thought the entry fee was a bit high at first but then realized it was for a whole year entry but even without a full years entry we thought it was worth the cost. It is also a non profit project helping our seas and wildlife so was happy to help out a good cause.

Visited with my 3 children from 5 to 15 yrs and there was something for all of them. They all thoroughly enjoyed their visit. It was fairly busy but we had not problems getting a seat in the cafe for lunch.

Haven't been to the deep in a few years. It's still a wonderful place to visit. We could have sat and watched the penguins for hours. We got there as soon as it opened, plenty of parking but was pretty full when we left.
Lisa Moseley — Google review
The deep is a gem on the coast. You will need to take a day to go around here as there are 100s of different interactive exhibitions to go along side the tanks.
It's amazing to have a museum like this outside of London honestly and it really is a great reason to visit Hull.
I highly recommend this museum 5 stars.
Tom Buchanan — Google review
Really cool experience that our kids (3 and 1) both really enjoyed. We both enjoyed it as the parents too! Lots of very interesting fish to see as well as lots of information/educational displays.
The cafe wasn't great, but the experience itself is very good. The entry fee also includes any number of returns within a year.
Sam Measures — Google review
Amazing aquarium. Friendly staff, great service. I was really pleased with fish exhibits. The Deep is disabled friendly, everything is accessible for wheelchair users. We spent there one and half hours and that is the time you’ll need to go around it. When you buy ticket you can come back within 12 month for free.
I really enjoyed the visit and definitely would recommend going to the Deep if you are in Hull.
This is probably the best aquarium I’ve been in UK, London aquarium is nothing compare to The Deep.
Ross Malickis — Google review
Was really informative and basically like a museum for the history of the planet and evolution. There were not as many creatures as some aquariums but it was still a great day out. The best part for the children was an interactive sand play area which was really clever. The queue was really long and it was quite loud but still well worth the trip and good value for money.
Amber Dave — Google review
We come to the deep often as we live locally. It's fun for both the kids and adults and it's enclosed enough to let my 2 year old have a little freedom to explore.
Today we were pleasantly surprised to find some (free!!) Sensory activities going on at the halfway cafe. These weren't very well advertised, so I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for any future events as there was SO MUCH for my 2 year old to do in a relaxing environment with really friendly staff. It was the perfect spot to breastfeed my 7 week old also, while my 2 year old was entertained.
Would recommend to anyone with little ones from newborn up to teens!

Really good day out. We spent about 2.5 hours here. We thought it was just an aquarium but found the exhibits really informative with lots of information, more like a museum. I love that our tickets mean we can come back again and again for free for a whole year. Lots of interactivity for little ones and ramps made it really accessible. Lots of food options in the restaurant and a well stocked gift shop.

Had a fantastic day with the kids for a day out. Everyone fully enjoyed seeing and learning. Nice little pit stop halfway through, which can bring your own food or use the café. Nice to know we can go for free over the next 12 months with our purchase tickets from today.

Great day out!! Lots of great tanks with sharks, turtles,.fish. The penguins were my favourite part. There is also a cafe & gift shop.

Excellent quality aquarium positioned on the Humber just down from the bridge. Good size car park but you do have to pay £3 even with a full price ticket. Lots to see and interactive with inside, nicely laid out with plenty of space, clean tanks and happy looking fish! The main tank is pretty amazing and they make the most of it with plentiful ways to view it including a glass bubble elevator ride at the end! Good cafe with hot and cold food plus a brilliant, well stocked gift shop on the exit. We stayed 3 hours including a quick cafe stop. Highly recommended.
Carl Davies — Google review
Was shocked at how much I paid to get in but apparently I can visit as often as I like for a year!
Fantastic place, plenty to learn and many species to see. Main attraction are the sharks which don’t disappoint. The tunnel is very short but the view is great. Plenty to do for children of all ages. Gift shop full of toys at average prices. I didn’t try the cafe but it looked good. Would definitely recommend a visit. Without food I would say 3 hours was enough for me but with smaller children I would give it 4 - 5 hours.
Beware, parking isn’t free! Foolishly I didn’t notice 😳😩

Great place to bring the children and adults alike...... Daughter loved all the interaction.
Cafe was reasonably priced with great staff.
The portion sizes are large and the home made pie to die for.

Absolutely fantastic place to visit. Lots to see and do, easily fills a full day, and your tickets will last for a full year after purchase. Outstanding value for money.
Also works with Tesco club card points and there is a small student discount.
Michael Grainger — Google review
Visited with my toddler who enjoyed looking at the fish but it's not very big so we weren't there very long. Took us an hour and a half, and that included lunch at the cafe. It's clean and well looked after, but not as many tanks as I thought there would be. It is more of an educational day out aimed at school children than anything.
Plenty parking although spaces are tight and there's no parent and toddler bays so quite tricky if it's busy. Wheelchair and pram friendly inside. Cafe is nice with lots of food choices.
Lauren Davies — Google review
Loved it. Even my teenage son was vaguely interested, which is no mean feat. The ticket lasts for the year so plan to go back despite a long drive. Not particularly cheap entry, but everything is well kept and some beautiful sites. If you take your time maybe up to 3 hours. Would recommend stairs at the end and the lift if you want, the stairs you take at your own pace, I spent half an hour at the varying heights. Cafe on site. Parking is about 4 quid

We loved seeing the penguins and the sword fish in the viewing tunnel best. We enjoyed the interactive displays, especially the microscopes and 'paint a fish' virtual displays. Staff on reception were very friendly and helpful and there was no queue at all to get in. We pre-booked our time slot online. It took around 1hr 45 minutes to go around, and we took our time reading the info boards.
We felt for the price paid there were some missed opportunities which would have made the experience so much better. Some kind of audio tour via an accompanying app would have been great - we found it quite difficult to hear the spoken exhibits due to the noise of school groups and other kids who were understandably excited. There was also no map (that we saw or were offered) which would have helped orientate us. There also could be more staff interaction and some talks or guided experiences. I suspect much staff time was taken up with the school parties on the day of our visit, however, this should be taken into account to ensure all visitors have a good experience. We were disappointed to find the bubble lift was not working. This meant visitors with pushchairs had to carry them up multiple flights of stairs if they were to see the views on each level of the tube. Finally, when we reached the cafe at the end it was very busy but the entire upstairs extra seating was closed so we ended up taking our food back to the car to eat.
Nice that each ticket is an annual pass so we may visit again and update the review.

So good we went back twice ! Went late on the first day which meant fewer people there and the creatures were on top form - especially the sharks and penguins! Went back for free the following day and saw.more creatures but some of the livelier ones from the previous visit were now sleepy! Good service - easy entry - nice cafe facilities. Will visit again!

We had a great time here, it wasn't as busy as I was expecting, no queue to get in (Monday 10am), we had no problems reading and viewing animal information displays. Really impressed with all the exhibits, I thought the entrance fee was good considering all the work they do and the running costs they have to endure. The cafe was excellent, great food and a nice cup of coffee, would definitely come back again
Lee Wiseman — Google review
Wonderful experience and my toddler loved it. Great for all ages, a bit busy but not too bad. Only thing I would say is that the picnic area wasn't until halfway round but we didn't realise that and it would have been useful to have signs for our hungry toddler.

Visited today, I bought the tickets online however you still had to wait in line, so it wasn't a time saving exercise. Only needed to queue for about 3 minutes so not bad at all. We booked a slot for 12pm allowing entry between 12 and 12:30, we arrived at 11:45 and there was no problem with entry, we weren't asked to wait, just got straight in once we were served.
Personally I feel it is a but pricey at £21 however, perks are the ticket is an automatic annual pass, so for this who live nearby it could be a bonus.
The place as a whole is pretty impressive, sharks, stingrays, penguins, turtles to name a few impressive animals. Plenty to do with the kids, loads of educational interaction activities to keep them busy.
I would 100% recommend.

The Deep's aquarium in Hull is truly unbeatable. I never tire of visiting and seeing the charming penguins, with the axolotl holding a special place in my heart as my favorite contender.
Exploring the wonders of the underwater world, from majestic swordfish to delicate creatures like the axolotl, is always a delight. Learning about their history and the efforts to protect them from extinction adds a deeper level of appreciation to the experience.
One of the best parts is the great pricing, allowing you to revisit as many times as you like within the year. It's a fantastic value for such an enriching and enjoyable experience, making each visit feel like a new adventure.
The Streetlife Museum of Transport is a transport museum located in Kingston upon Hull, England which focuses on the history and usage of public transport across the years. This museum is a great attraction for anyone interested in public transport history, and it also has exhibits dedicated to horse-drawn carriages, trams and buses.
Wonderful museum in the old town of Hull. Free entry and you don’t have to reserve tickets before your arrival.
I really enjoyed the visit and exhibits. It’s not the biggest museum, but certainly worth a visit. If you like vehicles and trains you’ll enjoy it.
Staff are really friendly.

A lovely place to spend some family time together. My daughter absolutely enjoyed the visit. As we had grandparents with us, she kept asking them if that was the way things looked like when they were little. It was so interesting to listen to their conversation. The museum is brilliant and helps you kind of go back in time. Our favourite thing there was an old fashioned ice cream van.

Well worth a visit. I'm well into vintage vehicles and old shops. Being able to see what people used to buy and how much things cost. Not all of it is as interesting but it depends what floats your boat. Anyway it's free entry so you've got nothing to lose. Like I say it's well worth a visit.

Excellent place for a visit, can't believe I've never been before. Lots to see for lovers of all things to do with the old travel scene. Old cars, buses, trams, bikes, road signs etc etc. Old style shops to visit, wonderfully laid out street scenes from the days of horse and carriages. There's a mini arcade with retro gaming machines to play at 20p a go. Accessibility is guaranteed with stairs, lifts or ramps so pushchairs and wheelchair users are catered for. Great place for photos too.

Fabulous FREE museum!
We were out for the day with family and found this place.
A wonderful museum in the fruit market area of Hull. Its Free entry and you don’t have to book tickets before you arrive, but I imagine it gets really busy during school holidays or weekends.
We really enjoyed the exhibits, chatting about the different eras and history of displays. It’s not a huge museum, but it has an easy flow one way system and certainly worth a visit.
Enjoyed even more if you like cars and trains etc.
There were lots of places to interact and take pictures.

This was a fantastic museum for seeing vintage transport, displaying buses and cars in their colourful old liveries! Trains and trams add to this collection, allowing some walk-ons and there is even a simulator that is super cheap. Bike exhibits demonstrate how they changed over time and information is provided on the development, old machinery lets the ins and outs of workings be seen by visitors too. A signal box is even available as a walk-in and rooms have settings replicating the olden days; signs also have been preserved to do this!

Great museum, and loads to see and explore with the kids. Only issue is parking is terrible. Even for disabled. We had to stop in the road and asked the lovely man to let us in. As they have bollards up stopping you from parking there if you are disabled. We will go again now that we know how it works.

What a fantastic thing to find in Hull. We only had time to go around one of the museums, but it was fantastic. Also did I mention it was free. A fantastic little museum located in the old town. Free entry, with no need to book in advance. The museum layout is over two floors, with a old victorian street theme, kids loved going in and out of the shops. There is also a vintage arcade room (bring some 20p ), vintage cinema and a mini car ride. We spent about 1. 30 here total. No car park.

Brilliant museum, and free to enter, You could easily spend half a day there and not be bored. Magnificent display of transport through the ages, and various displays of old street shops and how people used to live, some of it I could remember from my younger days.
This picturesque, landscaped attraction features 100+ types of water lilies displayed in 2 lakes.
Beautiful place.. Well worth a visit. We went later in the day and there was hardly anyone there and it was just perfect, so calming. I imagine it gets really busy though as it's such a lovely place to visit.

Beautiful gardens with many different areas to explore. The children really enjoyed feeding the fish who were in a frenzy and nearly throwing themselves into the bank!
The cafe was pleasant but there were a lot of wasps when we went. It might help to move the sugar from the outside tables and move the bins further away from the diners.
All in all, a very nice visit for all the family and we will return.

Tucked away in Pocklington, but we'll worth a visit. Amazing stump garden, utilising nature's own structure to give interest. The rockery is an abundance of spring flowers and heathers, with winding paths that reveal hidden features. There are large lakes which are planted with water lilies, not in bloom yet but great reason to return...and I haven't even mentioned the magnificent tulips and sensational blossoms. Oh and also lovely tea room with really friendly staff!

A lovely place to walk round, any time of year, though the high light must be the water-lilies in the warmer months. In spring the rock gardens come to the fore, with all the heathers, bulbs & rock plants. The stumpery is also delightful. At the end of your visit there is a nice cafe & shop. Not forgetting the interesting museum housing the varied collection of natural & man made curiosities collected by the original owner of Burnby.

I thought £7.50 for an adult ticket for a garden was steep but instantly changed my mind upon entry. This is a lovely day out for anyone. A really nice place to find some tranquility and headspace. The whole place clearly is very well kept and no doubt takes a lot of work to maintain. The fish are frenzied and entertaining to feed! I really like it here. The museum is small but informative, not to be skipped.

Beautifully well kept gardens and rockery. Not a great deal to do for older children but there is a park for 12 years and under. Lots of places to sit outside, benches and picnic tables. The cafe was extremely busy when we attended and it was very cold because both doors kept opening. They do cater for Coeliacs but we decided not to eat and grabbed takeaway drinks to walk around the grounds again. Definitely recommend going in warmer weather with a picnic.

The kids loved the ice cream but more importantly they loved feeding the fish. They literally jump out of the water to get fed and my kids loved it. The play area was a great break for the adults and the walks were great for inquisitive minds. Great fun in the sun.

Lovely tidy gardens to wander around, interesting plants, water lilies, flowers, bumblebees and birds complete with a large lake with some CRAZY CARP to keep the kids amused!!
The cafe looked good but there was a large queue so we settled for some fabulous ice creams and had our picnic sitting on one of the numerous wooden benches. Get there nice and early if you need a car parking space - as this was fairly limited/compact.
Also visited the museum which is next to the restaurant: interesting - but basically consists of animal and warmongering British Empire trophies courtesy of the trigger-happy benefactor/local lord of the manor, a distant relative of Churchill🫤

A pleasant walk around the lakes is just the tonic. Feeding the fish is an astonishing pleasure. There's a small aviary with lots of small birds ,the one that amazed me was the smallest pigeon I have ever seen. All in all worth the money.

Burnby Hall Gardens are just lovely. Easy access all around every path. Lots of seated area to rest. Beautiful flower beds (thanks to the gardeners xx). And the variety of wonderful trees...... I wanted to hug them all!
Watching and feeding the Carp was hilarious, they almost climbed out of water to get the food.
The beautiful lily pads flowers.... so colourful and perfect.
The cafe sells a variety of delicious food. Wonderful friendly service, thank you.
A very interesting museum.
And a wide range of instruments band playing sing-a-long songs.

My only criticism would be the cafe is a bit pricey.
Toilets are good

Absolutely beautiful gardens with lake, fine example of well looked after garden with walk ways, wheelchair friendly. Massive carp that greet you on arrival so don't forget to buy the fish food from the reception area.

One of my favourite places to visit! There’s always something new to see in this beautifully managed garden.
January 2024: I’m updating this review as it’s a while since I visited.
This is probably the earliest that I’ve ever visited in the year but we had a cool crisp day with no rain or wind so I took advantage of the better weather.
Visiting out of season it costs just £3 but when the season starts it will be over £7 so I’m looking at the annual membership.
There are lots of Sunday afternoon concerts which are included in the entrance ticket so I’m hoping to take advantage of that.
The garden lacks a little colour in January as you might expect, but look closely and you’ll see that bulbs are pushing through everywhere.
The snowdrop festival takes place in about 3 weeks and it will be amazing if the early snowdrops in the Rockery are anything to go by.
The gardens are beautifully kept and in a constant state of upgrading; I noticed the path around the back to the Walled Garden and Rockery are looking really good.
I didn’t use the cafe today but it was pretty busy; no-one was brave enough to sit outside today but when it’s better weather there’s plenty of outdoor seating.

Fantastic place for a walk around and a bite to eat. The museum is a nice addition which has plenty of interesting things to explore.
Stunning gardens and ponds, loads of fish to feed (keeps the kids happy!).
The cafe serves high quality food at great prices.
There's a kids play area which was tidy, and bathrooms were clean too.
We went on a Sunday and there was a brass band playing, lovely atmosphere and overall a really enjoyable day.

Beverley Minster is an Anglican Church located in a charming town and was built around the tomb of John, Bishop of York who founded a monastery on the site. It is one of three ministers in Yorkshire and has stunning stained glass windows, which create a magical atmosphere during afternoon glow. The church also features twin towers on its west exterior wall that are famous for being used in films as replicas for Westminster Abbey.
A seriously stunning minster in the cutest little town. We stumbled in while the Christmas tree festival was taking place. The volunteers at the door were so inviting and friendly. We were even given an impromptu tour of the church. The stain glass windows are absolutely magical and the afternoon glow is transcendental. The little gift shop has so much to see and purchase.

Lovely visit! I came a few years ago but we were passing through and I really visited another look. Absolutely beautiful and so rich in history. We brought our 7 month old son in his pushchair and were easily able to access all areas.

Beautiful building! I was greeted by a lovely lady who was both enthusiastic and knowledgeable which made the visit all the more interesting. If you visit don't miss the beautiful new gargoyle.

I have been to a few Cathedrals recently and some were apaling. Westminster and St Pauls in London are crowded, noisy mausoleums. For some realistic appreciation of what these great buildings come here.
I have just made a return visit, it get better every time I call.

My partner and I loved the minster. We talked to one of the volunteers for over 20 minutes, explaining the features and about the different building phases, the woky wall and how it was corrected. You can even do a roof tour.

Stunning bit of local architecture, the Minster is incredibly well kept both inside and out. Taking donations for visits alongside a gift shop inside that are used to help with upkeep of the Minster, entry is actually free, so it's definitely worth donating to! Inside, there are great views in both main halls and smaller chapels of some stunning gothic architecture, including some incredibly detailed wood and stone carvings. The lady who welcomed us in was wonderfully friendly, and there was even the option of guided tours. Great facilities inside, including a beverage station taking donations, a gift shop, and toilets. Highly recommend a visit!

Quick visit to this minister, one of three in Yorkshire. Took the guided tour of the roof, very interesting along with the stained glass windows. The west exterior wall with twin towers is often used in films to replicate Westminster Abbey.

What an amazing building, both inside and out.
There's no admission charge but if you want to take photos: it'll cost £3.00 which, believe me, you will want to do .
We didn't know but Beverley Minister is often used in Television and Films as it has the same 2 West Towers at the front of the Minster as Westminster Abbey . This design was also used by Nicholas Hawksmoor ( 1661 -1736) - Surveyor to Sir Christopher Wren ! to replicate these at Westminster Abbey (The Crown is one series that was filmed here).

Beautiful, stunning historic building. The volunteer who welcomed us was so knowledgeable too. Would recommend a visit. I understand you can climb to the top on certain days too, which would be amazing

Well worth the ticket price when your guide is Paul. As travellers from overseas, I found the history fascinating and, I imagine, if you were a local, it would seem more so because it would be more personal. Paul not only talked and walked us through the history of the Minster but was knowledgeable about the surrounding areas as well as further afield. There are so many features you wouldn't know about if you didn't have a guide. For those of you who have watched The Crown or Victoria, you will enjoy hearing the connection to the Minster.

I have visited Beverley Minster many times since moving here, usually to attend an event or concert. Today I visited to see the Gaia exhibition.
There was a lovely atmosphere in the Minster today as always; there were lots of visitors there for all sorts of reasons but nowhere felt crowded or rushed.
The Minster really is a stunning building so today I also took some time to wander around looking at some of my favourites: stained glass and roof and stone bosses.
The stonework in the Minster is particularly fine showing remarkable detail for carvings many centuries old. The roof bosses are elegant in design ; the stone bosses are intricate and beautifully carved.
If you have any family ties to the area I would highly recommend that you visit the area dedicated to the East Yorkshire Regiment to view the Roll of Honour from the First and Second World War.
There are lovely guides to answer your questions together with a gift shop, toilet facilities and plenty of space to sit in quiet contemplation.
Well worth a visit!
Also, look out for the sign to the Quiet Garden, on your left as you go back up Minster Moorgate. If the gate is open just by the Parish Offices, you are welcome to go in.
Keep an eye out for exhibitions, concerts etc :February 2024 Lux Muralis art installation.
