Literally my favourite hotel in the entire world. It’s SO civilised. We’re emotionally attached as we got engaged here 26 years ago, have bought their house champagne Louis Casters all these years, have visited for anniversaries/ holidays/ Champagne visits and with our children every few years. It gets better each time - upgraded, more features, fab staff, modernised bathrooms - and yet reassuringly similar with its wonderful history and setting. No matter how many wonderful hotels I’ve stayed at in many, many countries I continue to just love it, exactly the right balance of history, luxury, little touches of glamour like stunning drapes, supersoft room cotton spa dressing gowns & deep room carpets, and just good enough on practically everything including offering a domestic courtesy charger for our electric car. Bravo to the team, we will return for sure!

A real diamond in the rough. 5 star hotel & spa, in a 18th century castle. hidden behind a 13-century built castle. Two style next to each other. Great welcoming staff and calm outdoors. Very relaxing. Highly recommended.

Last week end, we had a lunch outside at the terrace facing the ruins of the old castle.
The lunch was truly delicious : refreshing hors d'oeuvre, meat perfectly cooked and a sublime dessert with a very good bottle of Wine!!
The service was prompt and all attendants were very dedicated to satisfy our wishes
After the lunch, we could stroll thru alleys planted with cherry blossom trees ( in full bloom) TRULY MAGNIFICENT!
We strongly recommand a stay at Chateau de Fere !!

Spectacular place, a real sight to see. It seemed to be being renovated (rebuild). For this they have a 150 year plan. There is no reception or entrance port, I recommend to just park and go see the sight!

Very cool ruin. Parking is easy and can walk straight into the castle. While the ruin itself is impressive, the commanding view of the surrounding country is well worth it

This place was a real surprise, lovely walk over natural paths across the islands, lots of facilities, and a lovely animal park, all for free. The only let-down was the toilet, highly technological, with electronic doors, but no toilet paper and a wet toilet seat, so we couldn't use it.

The Basilique du Saint-Quentin is a remarkable example of Gothic architecture in France. Its towering spires and intricate details are classic features of this style. The Gothic architecture here is known for its pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and flying buttresses, which give the church its impressive and grand appearance. Inside, the high ceilings and large stained glass windows, typical of the Gothic period, create a sense of awe and spirituality. It's a perfect place to appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship of medieval architecture while experiencing a peaceful and reverent atmosphere. This basilica is a true gem for Gothic architecture enthusiasts.

This is a wonderful building if rather surprising slightly “unfinished” inside. The stories associated with it are compelling both ancient and modern. For it to rise again from the devastation of WW1 is amazing. I am trying not to be too British, but we were disappointed that there were no descriptions in any other language than French which in effect hides the wonder of this building from many international visitors.

Museum of Matisse's art that he established himself, now housed in an 18th-century bishops' palace.
The Matisse museum in France captivates with its exquisite curation of the artist's works. The museum arrangement offers a mesmerizing journey through Matisse's works. The ambiance is serene, allowing visitors to absorb the vibrant colors and techniques. The museum beautifully captures the essence of Matisse's genius, making it a must-visit for art enthusiasts or just for someone looking to discover and have a good time.

Palais, Rue Fénelon, 59360 Le Cateau-Cambrésis, France

I visited on a motorcycle touring. About 2 hours from Brussels by lower road. A lord's castle in the birthplace of the famous Chimey beer. Reservations are basically required to enter (I'm not sure if there are same-day tickets available), and you can watch a drama about the lord's family for about 45 minutes before visiting the castle. It's all in French, but you can listen to an English translation on the audio guide. It is said that the princess related to this place was a friend through music with the famous French dynasty, Marie Antoinette. You can visit six rooms on the first floor of the castle. It is a mansion rather than a castle, and although it is small, it has an opera theater, and you can get a glimpse of the life of a family who loved music. The great thing about this place is not only the facility and Chimey beer, but also the hospitality of the staff. They kindly greeted me and kindly guided me. It was a place worth visiting just for that alone and I had a lot of fun👍

The Museum of Fine Arts in Valenciennes is a remarkable establishment showcasing French and Flemish artworks spanning from the Middle Ages up until the 20th century. The museum boasts an extensive collection of Dutch old masters, as well as pieces by local artists and renowned later artists. Sculptures by Carpaux are particularly noteworthy. Visitors can enjoy uninterrupted views of Rubens creations during off-season visits which typically last between two to three hours without breaking the bank on admission fees.
Marvellous Fine Art museum with quality patients and sculpture sympathetically arranged in a light and airy building.
John — Google review
A fantastic museum with a huge number of Dutch old masters along with pictures from local artists and a few well known later artists. The Carpaux sculptures are special.
Go during the off season and you will get a room full of Rubens to yourself. Not expensive to get in and easily worth 2 to 3 hours.
There is a small exhibition of archeology downstairs.
If this sort of museum interests you then also visit the Matisse Museum in Le Cateau Cambresis about half an hour away.

absolutely fantastic trip, we love such walkings, part of the route goes along the rush road, but mostly it goes in the woods or by a quiet road, the dam is nice, big, water is clean, we found many crayfish there! we did the route marked black on the map, parked at the parking lot Falemprise (for free), in the middle of the route in the village Cerfontaine we had an excellent Chimay beer and bought some meal in Carrefour, in total it took us 6 hours including a small picnic, I recommend to visit this place, we will be back for sure... pros: you can make this route be bike without any problems...

Nice small zoo! We went the weekend after it opened and it was raining and still a bit cold, so a lot of animals were not in their open cages. There's no restaurant inside but there were vending machines. There's a gift shop at the end but the prices were 🤑🤑🤑 super expensive for the same toys you will see in King Jouet or even grocery stotes. You only need about 2.5 hours to see everything. The parking in front is not very big but I think there are other parking spaces around the area.

Had a very fun day out here (me and my partner). Was a nice little zoo with some really beautiful animals. It felt like you could get very close to the giraffes which was amazing. All the animals seemed happy and well cared for. Reasonably priced at €7 a person ish. Nice little gift shop. Decent restaurant, only problem was excessive flies. Knocked a star off because half of the zoo is not wheelchair accessible despite paying full price. Very steep hills and steps in places. Still worth a visit overall

Although missing a clock tower, it is worth a visit. It is huge church containing the relequis of St Waltrude. You can download a free tour guide giving you more background info.
Bart Eekhaut — Google review
The Saint Waltrude Collegiate Church is the magnificent building of Mons. Even from the outside, one can see the church is of Gothic design, although the southern section is covered in scaffolding due to restoration work. The Gothic design is much more obvious from the inside with straight lines of incredible height. Part of that is down to the hardness of the stone used and even now looks so solid. As you can guess from the name, the church is named in honour of Saint Waltrude, whose shrine and reliquary can also be found inside. Her head can be found in the chapel dedicated to her and the reliquary containing her body is held above the high altar for all to see. The church also has some chapels with important sculptures and paintings such as those by Jacques du Broeucq and Peter Paul Rubens. The chapel of Saint Peter is unexpected as it has a wooden sculpture of death to symbolically represent the passage of time, as well as an alabaster sculpture of Jesus symbolically handing over the keys of heaven to Peter.
There's also a free downloadable audio guide, which is good enough to help you understand the history of the church as well as giving good commenter on all the chapels.

One of Belgium's most beautiful churches if you ask me. It's very big and the relics and organ are just amazing. The story behind the beautiful carriage is also very interesting! Don't miss this on your visit to Mons.
Juljan Desmet — Google review
A really big church. It already looks big on the outside, but inside it is massive. Definitely have a look inside if you get the chance.
Also a nice carriage and several paintings are viewable. All with QR codes which can be scanned to get an audio commentary of what you are looking at. I believe in French, Dutch and English. All at no cost. Though a little donation is fair.
Had a great time during the Christmas market...They ask for your COVID safe ticket at the entrance but that is totally understandable...Totally recommend, it's a beautiful spot to visit

It's always nice to see it, but especially during Christmas with the market. Do not forget to place your left hand on the head of the small monkey to give you luck. You can find it in the front wall of the city hall.

Great and very vivid place in the center of the city with a lot of nice places for a coffee, a lunch or simply a glass of wine. The statues of Plensa are unfortunately temporary but still without these great art works the main city square is highly recommended, during XMAS a XMAS fair and when I was there during the Easter period, a nice Easter setting was done.

If you are lucky you can see some beautiful decorations from the municipality during the different periods of time. Especially this summer they decorated it very well. I'd like to say well done to the Commune for this excellent job. You can also follow Ville de Mons instagram account to learn more about the events they organize at Grand-Place.

Went here twice. The first time, the grand place was filled with decorations and so many people were enjoying the installations. The second time around which was when there was lockdown and restaurants were closed. The area was clean and not much happenings but you could still see tourists.
The Belfry of Tournai is a significant cultural landmark that provides visitors with an opportunity to explore a dungeon, bellringer's room and enjoy the stunning view of Grand-Place square from its 12th-century tower. For a nominal fee, visitors can climb to the top and revel in the breathtaking beauty of Tournai. However, it is recommended that reservations be made beforehand on their website to ensure availability.
For the small price of €1 you can climb on top and have the most beautiful view of tournai there imaginable. Watch out that your intended reservations should be done beforehand on the website. Nonetheless we got in by asking is the previous group came and if not if we could go instead.

One of the main sightseeing points in Tournai. The tower was built in the 12th century, it’s 72 metres high and has 256-step stairway. It served as a watchtower for noticing fires and enemies and at one point in history also as a jail.

magnificent architecture, but the receptionist is cold and cannot speak English.
The Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Tournai is a Roman Catholic place of worship with five towers, medieval murals and a 15th-century tapestry of Arras. Despite surviving WWII bombs, the cathedral's stability was compromised by a freak tornado in 1999. It remains under restoration and will continue to be a vast building site for another decade, although the work on its five towers has been completed as of 2018.
Tournai cathedral is the world best example of the high romanesque architecture, completed in 13th century.
The best way to appreciate the structure is to see it from the top of the bell tower across the square.
Victor Ginzburg — Google review
Majestic from the outside. Unfortunately the interior is undergoing major renovation. The kind that looks like it has, or will take, years if not decades. The gothic choir and one transept are completely blocked off and unviewable. The Romanesque naive and Treasury are still worth a visit. Total visit time including walk from and back to train station was 1 hour 20 minutes.

A very good Cathedral in the heart of the city. It's one of UNISCO's monuments. It was interesting to see this church and read the provided information about it. I like it and I get the opportunity to visit once it's dOne with its construction.
Hanna Afshar — Google review
Despite its history, this Cathedral is not that well maintained. I don't mean the structure, that was under scaffold, so clearly maintenance work is underway, and the treasures museum is currently closed indefinitely. I mean, the internal care. Dirt, dead flower petals, etc. All over the floor. Just not clean.
The history and archaeology is impressive though, so still worth a visit to this UNESCO site.

Beautiful and underrated cathedral. Really short walk from the center square of the city, with a panoramic, bird's-eye view from the nearby Belfry. No large crowds of tourists, just emptiness and peace. The interior is also always open to enter and respectfully admire, and is quite beautiful.

I can imagine how fantastic the cathedral was and will be - but now its under renovation. Much of the paintings and textiles are visible as photos. But the Treasury is fully functional and a great little museum

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is without doubt one of the best preserved cathedrals in Northern Europe. Unlike its namesake in Paris, this church is built in a mix of Baroque, Gothic and Romanesque. As soon as you enter, the first thing to notice is one of the most impressive Romanesque naves I’ve ever seen, with a beautiful Rose stained glass on one end, but a surprisingly simple Baroque altar on the other. Other than that it’s a bit difficult to know how to rate this visit since much of the building, both inside and out were clad in scaffolding due to an ongoing restoration work which is not scheduled to finish for years. The beautiful stained glass windows behind the current high altar are all hidden by scaffolding. Where it not for the Treasury Museum, some fantastic Gothic stonework and the stained glass windows at the transepts, the visit would’ve been a real disappointment.
This church is without question the star attraction of Tournai. Sadly because of the restoration work, it’s not a must see until it’s complete.
I did however climb up the Belfry of Tournai and got fantastic views of the Church and it’s easier to see the Romanesque and Gothic parts of the church from high up.
Bois du Cazier is a UNESCO site that comprises two museums showcasing the history of industry and glassmaking on an industrial heritage site, along with a former coal mine. The staff is exceptionally polite and helpful, making it a must-visit destination. This historical place sheds light on the working conditions of people who provided energy for the country in earlier times.
Nice place to understand industrial changes and get some information about 1956 tragedy.

We spent most of the day here as there was so much to see. I loved the narrative guide; it was like a conversation between a lady and a gentleman personas who worked in the mine, so I found it alive and captivating.

Staff doesn't speak English at all, but the place is worth visiting, as it is the important site in Charleroi history as an industrial and mining city.
Rus?an Taran — Google review
- We saw people walking around with audio guides towards the end. we were not told this at the entrance.
- The proposed tour starts with an industrial museum and then a glass museum. This is all well and good, but I suspect that most people who visit a mining site come for the mining part, which comes at the end of that tour and when I got tired of reading the non-mining stuff. Moreover, the part about the mines is very sparsely developed. The video about the mining disaster, for example, was still reasonable, but it's in a corner behind a wall, where you could miss it! There should be much more focus and attention for this, so the 'logistics' on the site can be made much better in an easy way. For a Unesco world heritage site, this should actually be much better!

Excellent! Excellent! the parking lot was full so we parked in a nearby street, the entrance fee is valuable, kind staff speaks English, toilets are for free, the area is quite large, we walked independently with an electronic guide, many exhibits are related to mines and coal, machines, industry, electricity, short the film shows the history of the mine and industry and the minning accident, everywhere was clean, the spaces for visitors are outside and inside, you can spend about 2-3 hours there, interesting even for children, there is a cafe and a restaurant, I highly recommend it!

I really liked the shop, but I feel obliged to note poorly based on a very specific experience. Hopefully, someone who can change things will see this and become aware... I needed to use the baby change room. This is more specifically a toilet booth within the women's toilet room which was converted. Which means it is a) ridiculously small, b) extremely noisy, as it is situated near the entrance door and the hand dryer. I had to change my baby in there. Of course, there is no room for the stroller. There is barely any room for me and my kid. There is no coat hanger, no table or room to put a backpack. The person who designed this space clearly never had to change a baby and does not understand that it takes more than the baby and a new diaper. By the time we were over, both baby and mother were in tears and a 3 person line of babies and parents waiting to use the nightmare closet formed outside. I will end by suggesting whomever can change this to go check across the street, at Crack: they clearly understood the assignment.

Pairi Daiza is a 65-hectare park located on the grounds of a former Cistercian Abbey that houses over 5000 animals, including lions, pandas, koalas, gorillas and lemurs. The zoo features geographically themed areas inspired by various regions around the world. Visitors can explore recreated African stilt villages, East Asian temples and the largest Chinese garden in Europe.
Its a wonderful place, we enjoyed every minute in the zoo. Everything is tight and in order, nice restaurants and the most important thing, the animals look great and well maintained. My boys were excited to see pandas, wolves, bears, lions, giraffes, tigers and many more wonderful animals.

This is one of the most beautiful zoos in the World. We actually stayed here with the polar bears for a couple of nights and it was simply breathtaking. I have to say that for me the best part was the bats. It was simply amazing to be in there with them while they flew near you in all directions; this was superb. Plan on being here for at least a couple of days, there is so much to see and you don’t want to miss any of it. It took us two days to see everything and then spent the third day seeing all the things we loved the most. The park is simply beautiful and very clean. All the animals look happy and they have plenty of room to roam around. I can say that the food prices are a bit steep for what it is so maybe a great choice to bring your own lunch. There are plenty of areas around the zoo to have lunch. We signed the kids up to feed the elephants and this was a cool experience for them. Overall highly recommend, beautiful place.

The park is amazing ! And continuously improving !
Spent the night for the second time this year 😊 The first experience was so great we had to come back (and will come again) !
Staying in a lodge is expensive but totally worth it, because you can enjoy the park later at night and earlier in the morning, when the one-day visitors have left 🤩 The park gets calm and the animals start their night life, always a pleasure to observe 😌
Eating in the park is more than what you'd expect, some restaurants even offer more sophisticated menus, but comfort food can be found almost everywhere 😋 Don't forget location influences prices 😅
The whole park is a must-see ! But still try and plan your visits with the feeding schedule, that way observing animals is more entertaining! This can be done very easily, using the paper map given upon entrance or the app, both free-of-charge 😊
I strongly recommend visiting this zoological park, note that it has received multiple times the title of "Best Zoo of Europe" 🥇

Unfortunately, not all the shops were open, so we had to walk all the way back to the entry to get a cup of coffee. Nevertheless, the plants and animals all around were fantastic and I would love to return during another season.

Though pricy, definitely one of if not the biggest and most aesthetically pleasing zoos I have visited. The enclosures are large, varied and well-maintained, and the animals seem to be well-taken care of. I will note that there is so much to see that you simply cannot fully experience everything in just a single day. Then again, I would very much consider another visit.

Omg I wish to go back lot of times to the zoo. It’s not right to call Pairi Daiza a zoo. It’s rather a royal animal kingdom. You would get to see a variety of animals, birds, ambiences and habitats as per need of the animals. The place is huge so keep some good stamina to roam around but ensure you cover everything nicely and not miss out any of the beauty preserved inside. If you wish to frequently visit, the annual pass is a better option. Time flies inside there so plan the internal stuff nicely. Make the most out of the visit. And it’s cute to see animal’s getting feeded in their lunch times. If you are an animal lover, this place is heaven for you.

Best zoo in Belgium, you can observe lots of animals in a close distance. For many of them , especially the big ones like elephants or gorillas, they have very huge place to live in. The train is one thing you can’t miss, on the train you can take a good look to the elephants domain, witch what is hard to visit by foot. The whole zoo is base on a old monastery “Cambron” and it’s beautiful. The beer “Cambron” blonde, I like it very much also.

I recommend a full day. There is enough parking for everyone. Be sure to pay for the parking when buying your entrance.

Pairi Daiza covers an expansive area of approximately 140 acres, making it one of the largest zoos in Europe. This place is home to a diverse range of animal species from around the world. Visitors can encounter animals like elephants, giraffes, lions, tigers, pandas, gorillas, penguins, and many more. The zoo places an emphasis on providing spacious and natural habitats for the animals, allowing them to thrive in environments that closely resemble their natural habitats. Alongside the animal exhibits, Pairi Daiza features stunning botanical gardens with a vast collection of plants and flowers. The gardens are beautifully landscaped, showcasing various themed areas like the Japanese Garden, Chinese Garden, and Rose Garden. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks, admire the colorful displays, and experience a tranquil atmosphere.
These include ancient buildings, temples, pagodas, and other structures imported from different countries, creating an immersive experience reminiscent of a journey around there . Additionally, educational activities and interactive exhibits are available to inform visitors about wildlife conservation and environmental awareness. Definitely one of the most beautiful zoos you can visit.
The entrance feels like Disneyland & throughout the whole park there are amazing buildings and landscapes. Animal enclosures are integrated in their surroundings.
The park has restaurants and there are places to sit everywhere.
Besides having pandas! the park has a very nice selection of animals. White tigers, beautiful birds, elephants, rhinos, etc.
The park app has a map which makes it very easy to locate everything you need. Sadly it only seems to be in French but it could be I missed a setting somewhere.
This is not a cheap outing: entrance, food, merchandise, etc all cost a fair amount of money. Bringing some drinks and sandwiches is not a bad idea.
However you can easily spend the whole day here if you want to see & do everything.
In my opinion, it's well worth the money considering how lovely this zoo is.

Actually, known as the one of the best zoos in Europe I had many expectations. And I was quite disappointed. It’s more like fun park than something showing real wildlife. It’s really cool for people looking for fun and something big, but I was just hoping for more natural vibes. And Christmas music playing around the whole area, even after Christmas was enough for me. The one thing that really gets me the wow was walrus, because I’ve never seen it. Next time, I’d prefer Zoo Leipzig, this is not worth so much money for me.

Very interesting place. Old buildings. Recommend to be visited.
Taras Harkusha — Google review
The buildings are not taken care of, seem to be falling apart. Accessibility for wheelchairs and elders isn't great, especially considering clientele. But it is a sight to be seen!
Old glory. The visitor center is closed, you can only walk around outside and take great pictures.
The site still shows plenty of engineering feats & impressive innovations from quite some time ago.
Not sure if this will stand the test of time. I'm wondering if the current renovation will really extend its economical lifetime (should be as just phase 1 of the renovation will cost some 68 M€).
So definitely a site that offers mixed feelings.

All closed, apparently due to covid. No access to the tower with it’s spectacular views. Also apparently no plans to open. Detoured to the incline and its tower whilst hiking the gr and camino St Jaques. No information on website indicating closed, no reply to phone number for visitor centre. No recorded message. Disappointed. Waste of what could be an excellent tourist attraction for the region.
Peter C — Google review
nice round trip, we parked under the tower, started a walk towards the fields, to the forest, through the village back to the tower, the road surface is hard except for a few mud sections or parts with fallen leaves, we saw an interesting waterfall, a harbor full of boats, a cart that towed the boat, the tower was interesting but we could not go in - it was closed, we walked the path with kids without any problems
Marek Sopko — Google review
We visited last Sunday, turns out it is only between April and September. That was not immediately clear from the website. We took the trail next to the slope which allowed to have a bit closer look on the 2 big water containers.
There were some construction works going on.

Really awesome place of your into engineering or maritime stuff. When it was built it was the cats meow and still is. Great view of the country side from the tower. Not too far from Brussels so worth the drive of about 45min.
Jason Gideon — Google review
Interesting place, awesome view on top, a bit old and not very well kept, but overall a nice experience. The only bad experience was in the parking lot just across the place, where someone broke my car and stoled whatever found inside, now i dont think the parking belongs to them but i think someone should keep in mind that many tourist that visit park there as i did. I dont see another parking around. So have a nice visit but be careful where you park your car .
alin sovaiala — Google review
First you can look at this spectacular construction from the tower and see a video about canal transport in Wallunia, then you see a show about life on the Canal, this is a narrated exposition with well built scenery and very old but very charming puppets. Very good value for the admission fee!
Patrick Thibaut — Google review
Panoramic view is very nice, boat trip is interesting. The tour on the other hand inside the tower is imho not worth it, weird storytelling with animatronics, gives it an eerie vibe. Staff is reasonably friendly.
Hospital Our Lady with the Rose, established in 1242, is Belgium's sole surviving medieval convent-farm-hospital complex. Meticulously restored, it showcases the evolution of medieval medicine through a stunning herb garden and various hospice eras, featuring a display of historical medical tools. Notable exhibits include a bird-beaked plague doctor and a 16th-century painting depicting Jesus with a female breast. The site also houses an impressive collection of religious art.
Our Tour Guide was excellent. The lobby and restaurant are very nice and clean. The garden is beautiful, with it's intricate landscaping. The Hospitality was overflowing. The history, attention to details on the displays is impressive. There's so much to capture. Our Historian captured every detail in this Historical Hospital. The Hospital made a tremendous impact in the Commune of Lessines, Belgium. Well done. Highly recommend!

a wonderful place that is definitely worth seeing, we parked on a nearby street, the hospital is almost in the city center, they have free admission on Sundays, English-speaking staff, toilets available, it starts with a short movie, then you walk through the individual rooms with a electronic voice guide, part of the tour is also outside of building - garden and courtyard, the hospital was extremely interesting not only for adults but also for children, I definitely recommend seeing

Great visit. A lot of stuff to see. Take your time for this museum. Guess the garden is best visited during summer.

Wonderful tour with the local Flemish guide who narrated to the history with much passion, wit and detail. Recommend taking the guided tour over the audio guide. Compelling story on a historically uniquely preserved place.
Kurt Debille — Google review
Very old hospital that was running from the 13th century became a museum in the second half of the 20th century. Old times the cure for human soul was even more important than cure for the body. As time went by you can see the development of medicine over several centurys. The collection of old instruments is a bit creepy and makes you feel happy that you didn't have to be a patient old times.
Pille Pata — Google review
As a new resident to Lessines, I was given tickets to visit the museum. The museum also sent a letter to new residents to go collect a welcome gift of books and postcards based on the hospital. Staff were all very welcoming and congratulatory. Audio guide was available in English. I particularly loved the medicinal garden, though it was winding down for the winter. I will definitely make another visit the the garden during spring and summer as it was an ideal place to study plants, with everything clearly labelled and informative, in French.
Wincy Yau — Google review
Very nice place! 😀 They even have kids' panels (in French, no NL or ENG). Audiophones in NL and FR for adults. Very interesting, especially the old pharmacy! Unfortunately it was raining that day but that didn't stop us from enjoying the covered and heated terrace after the museum visit! Also saw the herbal garden for the pharmacy, learned so much about poisonous plants haha. Absolutely worth it!
Emmeline — Google review
Great building! One of the oldest hospital in Europe. The tour inside is well commented (audio-guide), shared between the monastic life of the sisters and the medical offering of the hospital (beds, pharmacy, surgery items...) As well as it's history (the hospital ran till the mid of 20th century!)
Laurent Derijck — Google review
The garden is great but the signage is only in French and the audio is in French and Dutch. Inside, I wish the items were described instead of the endless chants on each track. Overall, an interesting place
Instructor Max deserves his name. He is 'the max'. We had a fantastic flight from Oostende (EBOS) to Inverness (EGPE). Flying on AP for about 1 hour while being instructed every single function of the overhead panel and preparing the ILS for Inverness in detail.
Smooth, almost perfect landing on the rather short runway.
Passengers Fabienne and Harmony thoroughly enjoyed the flight as well.

Very nice experience!
The instructor is super polite, chill and explains everything very clearly.
I recommend to go here if you are interested in a virtual flying experience 😄

Had to book months in advance (on a working day) due to limited slot availability. Flight was cancelled two hours before 'departure', which we only found out after arriving in Charleroi.
We did not receive the promised refund and have been trying to contact EFS for multiple weeks. Mails are ignored and telephone calls result in empty promises that management will call us back (which never happens). Avoid this company.

Villers Abbey, located in Villers-la-Ville, Belgium, is a well-preserved ruin of a Cistercian abbey that was abandoned in 1796. It is considered to be one of the top attractions in Wallonia due to its beautiful gardens and relaxing walks. In addition to its rich history and atmosphere, the abbey also hosts an annual choir festival.
Great experience of the old ruins of the abbey in Villers-la-Ville. The entrance fee of 9 Euros is reasonable as it is a huge complex you can explore on your own or with help of an audioguide (extra fee). I was there in the very morning and for photography fans this place offers exceptionable spots and locations. It is not crowded at all. Additionally, you can learn lots about life in the abbey and its surroundings. Also, there are abbey gardens that teach you about plants and the four humours and temperaments. Parking is free. Worth a visit, or two.

This Abbey was so cool! They have like 4 different gardens, based off of plants for cooking, medicine, etc.
They still hold services in the main chapel. There's so much real estate to explore, and it wasn't insanely crowded.
There's lots of great views and the gift shop has a lot of local products.
It's not very accessible for those with limited mobility, unfortunately.

Tip : do check their website before visiting for the latest schedule as there are always some concert and shows ✌🏽

This visit was tremendous! The visitors center is worth the entrance fee. Neat products and great historical information. Outside, we were in awe of the ruins. The kids ran around and explored all the nooks and crannies. We enjoyed our time and photos. We should have experienced the Brasserie.

the biggest abbey I have ever seen, in fact the whole valley is one big abbey, even the railway goes throught it, the monks had everything for their lives there, from bedrooms to dining rooms, workshops, warehouses, stables, toilets, gardens, prayer rooms, of course the main church, to the hotel and even the prison, free parking, the entrance fee is excellent, there is also a small shop and restaurant at the reception, toilets available, there are only ruins inside so there is not so much to do but the area is huge and in summer the bloom flowers must be beautifull
Marek Sopko — Google review
Very good for a walk and beautiful site for some pictures. Ample space for parking.
I advise for some hiking as it can be very pleasant otherwise it worth a visit anyway.

Lovely gardens, relaxing walks. The kids loved playing in the underground passages.
If you want to take advantage of everything, plan to be there for the whole day. A lot to read about everything + extra information online - you just need to scan a QR code. We didn't do it so I cannot comment on this.
Bring a picnic or snacks or wait until you finish the visit - there's a restaurant once you get out.
Teachers get free entrance.

I highly recommend visiting this place! This monastery is almost 1000 years old and it's still standing. There's a small museum exhibition in the beginning with some information, but the highlight it actually walking around the runes and reading the information signs. If you come here in the winter, dress accordingly to the weather!

Nice and pet friendly.
Dogs are allowed inside the place with a leash, which is great and mine enjoyed it.
Parking place is not big enough, it was too crowded but there was another one close by.

Beautiful place. Unfortunately, i was too late to reach as it was closing, so I couldn't get in, but the view i could manage was enough for me to realise that it is a beautiful place.
It is big. The entrance goes through under the ground. The way they preserved the valley, the beautiful stone structures were mesmerising.
This place is a must if you are nearby or 6 around.

The natural green space of the Bois de la Cambre is an ideal place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. With plenty of trees and a small artificial lake, it's perfect for biking, jogging, playing sports, or just relaxing. The park is connected to the city by Avenue Louise so you can easily access it from all over Brussels.
Lovely little grove in the hearth of Brussels. I love to take a walk there in all seasons. There’re couple of bars and restaurants there, so you can easily spent a few hours away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Beautiful green space in the heart of Brussels. Great for running and cycling. In the centre one can find the Chalet Robinson where they offer a great brunch or dining experience. That place is truly fantastic and only accessible via tiny ferry. There's also a nice playground not far and overall it has a chill atmosphere.

Brilliant place to walk the dog. Wild and unkempt bits in between a network of neat pathways. Just next to the city. Loads of dogs to romp with (Mikey not me). Cafe’s & bars every so often. Can be muddy in places so wear stout shoes or boots. Well signposted and plenty of paid parking. And I spotted what looked like a chipmunk!

What an amazing park, it is huge , you can find big spaces to have a picnic , there kids, dogs, families , couples, it is for everyone. There is a kiosk to have snacks, drinks etc and 2 restaurants, 1 with burgers, great but a bit expensive and another one in the forest. There are ping pong tables, routes for running and bikes etc. You can spend all day there, it is so beautiful and you feel out of the city. Also you can commute there with tram so you walk a bit to enter the main park as the cars arrive up to a limited point

The Autoworld is a museum of vintage cars that covers the history of the automobile from the late 1800s to the 1970s. The vehicles on display include carriages powered by horses, early gasoline-powered cars, and sports cars from that era. It is one of Brussels' most popular attractions.
I'm not a car guy. But I can appreciate great engineering and design. This museum, which isn't a museum, is by far the most complete auto museum I've ever visited. And being a North American, I've seen my share of car museums and collections. Well located, good price, lovely café on site.

Really enjoyed the museum and its set in a beautiful grand park and square. When we arrived there was a Ferrari on the entrance, I was cringing at kids touching it! I think entrance was 15euro and you're presented with a story of the car from the start throughout all the years, cars from different countries, racing cars and even bikes. If I did have anything to say I thought some of the areas were a little dark like to upstairs area to the right. Maybe some better lighting as they were some rare cars in that corner.

The interesting thing about this place is that it leaves you speechless. You can enjoy both the most modern racing car and carriages that we have only seen in the movies. When I visited this magical place, it was set up for a cocktail party, and it certainly looks different on a normal evening. However, it is worth visiting this place and enjoy the feelings that change in you at the sight of such different types of vehicles.

Oh, and don't get me started on the fountains – so handy! They've even got a dog park, and if you take a stroll, you'll uncover cool spots. Plus, there are these two rad museums. Very well taken care of park! Super nice vibe and also cultural events are taking place from time to time. When it’s sunny is awesome and chill!

The park is pretty large and well looked after with flowers. The arc is stunning and was erected by kind Leopold II for the 50th anniversary of the independence of Belgium. The arc themselves have such beautiful details, well worth a wander. There's also a few museums in the park.

Really nice place to walk around. A nice big park, if you have a dog, would be a good place to set him free and you will see a bunch of off leash dogs. On top of that there's a car museum as well.

A very nice park with benches and green areas, perfect for a picnic.
The Royal Military Museum is a beautiful and interactive museum that showcases weapons and warfare from throughout the ages. The ground floor features chainmail armour, powder flasks, swords, and statues of notable Kazakhs. The Hall of Ancestry on the third floor is an interesting look at weapons through history, with diagrams detailing how medieval bows were made and cavalry tactics used by different cultures. Mines and machine guns are also on display on the third floor.
Of all the military museums I have visited within the US and abroad...this one takes the cake...bar none! We definitely plan to go back as we short-changed ourselves by only planning to be there for around 90 mins...easily need 3-4 hours. I promise you and your kids (we had all three of ours with us) will not be bored. This was our #2 museum (Natural Sciences was #1) during our 3 day weekend stay in Brussels.

A great museum for all ages!
There is a huge amount of things to see and you can spend hours and hours in the museum without seeing the time pass.
There a lot of important and rare historical pieces and their collection is very rich.
A part of the museum has been renowned not long ago which modernized the museum a lot.
I highly recommend this museum if you have some time to spend in Brussels!

Very interesting place not just because of the vast amount of exhibits but also because of the sometimes antiquated presentation. This didn't disturb me at all as it did some visitors, as it is also intriguing in itself and the partially limited context pushed me to find out more by myself on Internet afterwards (Belgians in Mexico or in Italy ...). The part of the museum about the last century and its two world wars again is very modern and comprehensive. Though I spent 3 hours there, I didn't manage to see everything, as they closed doors before.

A ticket will get you up to the top of the Arch with its great views, and into the war and aviation museum. The museum is big. Like really big. If you actually want to pause and read half the displays you'll need like 6 hours. Focus on the bits you want to see and get those done, and no one can take in this much museum in one go. Pretty good value for €10.

Huge museum, with many interesting exhibits from medals to tanks and planes. And the panoramic view from the Arcades du Cinquantenaire is amazing! We spent there the whole day, and it was not enough. It's perfect as well for kids and adults, especially if you are interested in history. Of course, it's worth visiting and I recommend it!

Outstanding museum! The breadth of the collection is vast and it is displayed with interest and interactive points to absorb your attention. You almost need several visits, there is so much to see and you get lost in time reading the display descriptions. Enjoyed climbing to the viewing platform on top of the Cinquantenaire arch and ate one of the freshest and tastiest sandwiches I’ve had in the Sky Bar café, in amidst the plane wings! All in all, a top experience!

It is indeed one of the best museums where you can travel through time. It took us three hours to finish it, not taking enough time to read all the information as it was closing at 17h. It is indeed well designed and well-informed to visitors. We enjOyed every single corner of it. Though, when we reached the last part, which is for airplanes, there was not enough light (only for winter when we reached dark nights very soon.) There is a small cafe as well if you feel to take a few minutes of resting after such long journey through time. The museum itself is clean and nice. The staff are kind. About the parking plot, if you get lucky, you can park somewhere and then walk to this place. The ticket price which costs 11 euro is actually nothing, compared to what they offer you. I hOpe this review helps you, and I would like to thank every single member of this amazing cultural monument.

Visited several times the 1939 - 1945 section. A well-documented-2-floor section, explaining in detail the rise and fall of the third Reich. Simulation of a part of a ship, an Atlantic wall bunker, landing craft are foreseen. If this subject is of any interest to you, you need to pay a visit. € 10 entrance fee for adults. Every first Wednesday of the month free of charge.

The park and then the museums are must-sees for everyone who comes to Brussels. I am avid for history and wars in particular, the museum covers it all, it is no surprise if you would take a full day or more to cover everything, as you go up till the roof!
The arms going from simple knives to heavy artillery, aircrafts and navy models... It's literally wonderland, Alice! Splendid stuff!

Very large and well organized museum. Covers military history from swords to jets but much of the focus is on WW II. If you are at all interested in military history you should plan on spending several hours here. The admission price is reasonable, the staff speaks English and was very helpful, and a surprise: the Sky Cafe was quite good and not expensive. One negative... Most of the exhibits are documented but not in English.

V fun-beware, large portions are being remodeled so you can't see everything. But the cool stuff is largely there. Plan for at least 4 hours. Sky cafe has good snacks to enjoy if you need a break.

Essential for history buffs and military buffs alike. There are some unique and wonderful exhibits in wonderful surroundings. The aviation hall is particularly stunning with beautiful architecture. As a side note the gift shop is a mecca for scale aircraft modellers with many plastic kits from all eras including some very rare items, all very well priced.

I liked this museum a lot but at the same time I also hated it. I am quite conflicted about how to write this review.
The pros:
- the airplanes and tanks gallery is so cool
- there’s so much on offer in this museum it’s unbelievable.
- the place is huge.
- the WW2 gallery look decent
The cons:
- It feels like every part of this museum has its own museum curator who is doing whatever they like. Nothing fits with each other. There is no coherent story between each gallery. And even the airplanes gallery was a mix of civil and military display of different decades intermixed it isn’t fully clear what are they trying to tell us from this display.
- English description is only in some galleries but not in some. Why is this not consistent?
- the lighting is all messed up. Some of the galleries were so dark, it was hard to see anything.
- The museum is missing enough interaction and stories to keep you interested.
- the place is huge but the paths are mixed up. You start in a gallery but it is not clear the time chronology to follow. You choose whatever you want to visit. I guess that’s ok but a bit confusing. It would be nice if the museum tries to tell the story of wars starting with the ancient ways up to the modern days.
In a nutshell, this place is huge and has a lot of things, but it really could use a big revamp to be a cool museum that teaches and follows a consistent path rather than just a storage dump of armory related items and stuff.

Very nice, it does take at least 3 hours. Entry is behond the big archway and to the left. There are *a lot* of military uniforms to look through. The part with the planes was really cool !

An impressive collection of military artifacts, with a particularly strong selection of small arms. Not to mention the best, maybe the only, collection of trench mortars I've ever seen. Truly frightening things they are. They also have an unexpected and quite beautiful collection of materials from Imperial Russia. Very courteous and helpful staff, all in all a great experience.

From medieval armour to tanks this museum has it all. Not crowded at all, not all the sections have descriptions in english. The aviator cafe is a nice Pit stop. Highly recomend.

An astonishing collection! I think i have seen some displays as good as these, but never so many, nor so rich. The WWI and WWII heaps are minds blowing, but the eclipsed by the aviation hall.
A staggering museum, and a must of you have any interest in military history!

Fantastic museum of Belgian military history over the years. Something for everyone and great views of Brussels from the top floor. Well presented and informative displays
WWII concentration camp set inside a moat, preserved as an educational monument, with guided tours.
Very impressive. I have visited this place many years ago, but nowadays it has become way bigger and more parts of the fort are accessable now. Very nice tour. Also new is that you get your own electronic guide... way better then before.

It was very interesting and a part of history that should never be forgotten. You will get audio, which is easy to use and in FR, D, ENG, ES and NL available.

The history of this place is very interesting and it is sad to know everything that happened there. Definitely it is an excellent place to visit.

Great place, very interesting but eerie too. Horrendous what prisoners had to go through on a daily basis. Definitely worth a visit. Large car park.

Of great historical value - in a duty never to forget-..the wee audio guide shared a wise tale of resilience. A proper broomsweep to dust away the cobwebs sure shall be appreciated..as is better signage for cyclists.
Dora Vanroosendael — Google review
The visit is long and you should take about 3 hours if you want to listen to everything in the audio guide. But it’s really worth it. Very clear and detailed. Though if you are very interested in WWII history and want to thoroughly listen to everything, avoid weekdays. There are several school groups with guided tours and normally too much noise that makes it difficult to listen and focus on the audioguide.

Really interesting site, the audio guide.in English was very informative. There were some imaginative displays and I feel there was a good balance between facts and statistics and information describing real lived experiences. It's a difficult visit emotionally, but extremely important to not let this be forgotten.

Fort Breendonk was a sobering experience. The atrocities that were committed here by the Nazis, and Belgian collaborators, were shocking. If you’re interested in World War 2, I would highly recommend visiting. Allow up to 3 hours for the self guided tour (if you read and listen to every part of the tour).
Bryn Lake — Google review
Very interesting. As stated before if you listen to everything on the audio it will take 3 hours. We cut it down to about 1 1/2 hours. It was very good. The facility was great to tour. Visitors had access to pretty much everything.

I cannot give this a full review as I did not go in as I did not have much time, but the fort looks insane from the outside. So pretty and historic, it was great to even get a glimpse of the place.
Parking is plentiful, albeit a little rough parking (I was in a low car with sports tyres so not too suitable). Some parking on the road which was ideal.
The tour recommends around 2 hours for your visit and if I remember rightly it is around €10-15 per person.

Fort Breendonk makes the biggest talkers silent for sure, what an impression it gives to a person..
They did such a good job explaining the history at the entrance and the audioguide guiding you through the whole fort Breendonk. The storyteller definitely made you feel like you are living through that same hell.
Needless to say the things that happened here, are unhuman and just pure horror.
We went on a sunny day of 25 degrees, still it was around 5 inside the cold bunker, better dress warm!
The audio guides are available in Dutch, French, English, German and Spanish. Though the information panels are mostly only Dutch and French but the many audio guide spots should not let you stop from coming if you’re not speaking Dutch and French only.

Well well worth a visit. You have a hand set with a key pad, enter the number that's on all the exhibits and you are told the story behind them, really a great experience.

The moment you enter you begin to feel the oppressive atmosphere of the place. Fear, pain and suffering permeates the walls. Yet another reminder of how evil people can be. Definitely worth the visit, but it’s going to wear you out emotionally. 😳😞
