The Church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Mer is a Romanesque pilgrimage site dating back several centuries. The church is known for its ancient well and beautiful terrace, which provides a panoramic view but can be slippery in places. Visitors should exercise caution when going up or down the port side roof. The church also hosts an interesting annual Gypsy procession on May 24th and 25th, featuring music, dance and a statue of Black Maria.
Beautiful little church that honors the memory of Saints Marie and also Sara, allows you to go up and see all of Saintes Marie de la mer, a really nice place. Inside then there are all the ex votos of past centuries that are remembered in the showcases. The story that encloses the well of baptism inside the church is interesting, which was the only source of fresh water for the whole city in the past.

Small but a beautiful church - the terrasse is a must visit which might not be accessible for babies and senior people. The panoramic view on the terrasse is great but needs to be careful because the roof (the port side) is slippery when getting down.

Lovely church from outside. Inside nothing to see... Around the church there are a lot of restaurant... for tourist...

Really nice church! You can visit the top of the church and it is very cheap! You can get the tickets at the entry before you go up the stairs.(make sure not to go too late in the evening because it gets quite crowded, on the other hand you will be able to see a beautiful sun set so it's for you to decide.) Once arrived at the top you can enjoy a stunning view over the town! Make sure you bring your camera :). Once you finished the roof tour you can go back down and enjoy the inside of the church. The entry for the inside of the church is free and very nice too but make sure you don't go when they are having a ceremony.

Go at the top for a wonderful overview of the surrounding Camargue, in the crypt see the effigie of Ste Sarah the supposed servant of Mary Magdalene and protector of the Gypsies.

2 Pl. de l'Église, 13460 Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, France
The Ornithological Park Pont de Gau, located north of the city of Marseille, is a premier spot for birdwatchers. The reserve has trails for walking and biking, as well as viewing platforms with excellent views of the wetlands and marshes where pink flamingos and herons live. Other migratory and seasonal birds can also be spotted here. There is a care center for sick or injured birds as well.
A beautiful morning spent marveling at countless flamingoes and other bird life in the natural marshland habitats. Do come with zoom camera or binoculars! Also remember to get your ticket stamped so that you can do re-entry if wanting to come again after lunch. Overall a must do if you’re in the area
Y Wong — Google review
Really nice park where you can observe lots of animals, mostly birds like flamingos, for only 7.50 euros per person and 5 euros for children! You can also rent some binoculars for 5 euros which I recommend because you will be able to observe a lot more animals like the beavers and the nutrias who are a bit shy.
By visiting this park you will walk quite a lot: there are two parts one of 3 km and the other about 4.5 km but it's a really nice walk in between all the animals!
Unfortunately the information boards that explain the different animals are only in french.
Alicia Ulbrich — Google review
That’s a great place which is interesting both for adults and kids as well as professionals photographers and ornithologists. You can see lots of various birds and animals there. Also there is additional information about their life and behaviour explaining some aspects and factors about these amazing creatures.
Kirill Maksimkin — Google review
Fantastic place, absolutely worth to visit! You can observe in nature many kinds of birds (sleeping pink flamingos were the best!) and water animals like beavers. Having a good quality full frame digital camera with telephoto lens might be a huge benefit. We spent there around 3 hours but you can see the most spectacar views within the first hour so it's worth to visit even if you have more limited time.
Mariusz Boguszewski — Google review
So well done. Far more than just flamingos and oversized rodents - the walking routes and viewpoints are quite magical on a sunny afternoon. You can leave when you want, so do stay for the sunset if you wish, but make sure you have a good pair of binoculars.
Mark Hanna — Google review
We came upon this hidden gem while driving from Montpellier to Arles. Totally unexpected, what a lovely surprise it was. The amount of flamingos were astounding. The park was nicely maintained in a natural setting. Wonderful experience.
Chada V — Google review
Lots of flamingos, great views, you can rent binoculars for 5 or 9 euros (2 different tiers) for some up close bird viewing
Constantine Turtsevich — Google review
Just WOW!
A beautiful reserve with excellent walks, guides and seating giving you every chance to watch flamingos, gulls, egrets and herons amongst the wetlands and islands, as well as the occasional coypu.
Immaculately kept, with no rubbish.
We met staff watching nests who let us use their monoculars.
Only €7.50 for an adult.
You can take your own picnic, and a basic cafe serves drinks (cash only).
Although entrance closes at 6pm you can stay til "dusk" and still get out through turnstile.
Bike racks both inside and out.
Toilets basic but functional.
Well worth a visit 🙂👍🏻

I was sceptical at first. What is so amazing about watching a few birds? But I have to admit I really enjoyed it! Totally recommend the park! And the path through the park is very pretty!

26€ for a family of 4. spent about 2 hrs here and bought our own lunch. there was a restaurant in site to buy a simple lunch for very affordable prices. the flamingos were stunning in their natural habitat. lots of photo opportunities. lots of information boards in french and English. parking directly outside for free but during summer it gets full so park along the road.
Charlene Elliott — Google review
This place is amazing and a heaven for bird enthusiasts and common men alike. The birds here are used to seeing people and aren't afraid of them.
If you are an avid birder then they have an extended path with bird hides to do some proper birding.
We went there in mid Feb, which isn't exactly the birding season of the region but we still saw plenty of birds, resident and winter migrators alike.
Some of the hides weren't properly maintained, like we had a bush growing in front of a hide which cast a shadow in all of my pics 🫤

We drove 45 minutes to get there and it was worth every minute incredible! Great for Bird Photography. I only took one photo with my iPhone at our picnic spot, apparently Google maps and reviews don’t like photos taken with the canon R5

One of my first natural parks, truly an emotion! I will not have seen all the species contained in this gigantic park but only being able to see how much fauna still lives in nature (obviously controlled) and thrives in this way. I had really never seen flamingos before and this visit really amazed me.There are routes suitable for families and for the more adventurous who want to discover the whole natural park, there are numerous truly appreciated lookout posts. I truly recommend it to anyone🤩🤩
J_Gogo — Google review
Very nice bird park that is nicely set up to balance the good of the birds along with getting nice views. There are two walking areas with paths and we took the shorter one which was about a mile and a half. This is clearly the flamingo season and there were hundreds of them everywhere. It was beautiful. A very nice stop and handy to Arles.
Steve Hartig — Google review
Charming Park: Crowds of flamingos are just around the corner, cool educational content to learn more about these amazing birds. Flamingos undoubtedly attract the main attention, but there are a huge number of other birds in the park - storks, cranes, etc. Excellent walking routes, equipped places for recreation and picnics.

The Arles Amphitheatre, which is still in use today for bullfighting and other community events, was originally built in the Roman era as a place to watch gladiator fights and wild animal shows. It's long, oval shape and large capacity makes it an interesting attraction for visitors to the area.
We were looking forward to visit this site since some time. We have watched several YouTube videos about this touristic attraction before we even knew will visit Arles. Overall the place did not disappoint us. The huge structure which dated since almost 2000 years made us appreciate the care of the local authorities to preserve and maintain this important site. We recommend taking the time and sit on one of the benches while imagining what went on the are a many hundreds of years ago. The views from one of the towers is great too.

A truly wonderfully preserved example of an ancient Roman amphitheatre. You can walk around freely and really explore this amazing venue and imagine how the place must have been in the ancient times. Wonderfully preserved and in great condition. If you are lucky you can even visit when they have concerts and other events here.

Visiting the Ampitheatre in Arles is like embarking on a mesmerizing journey through time. This ancient Roman amphitheater holds a captivating aura that transports you back to a bygone era. The grandeur of its architecture and the rich history it embodies make it a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts and those seeking to immerse themselves in the past. Exploring the Colosseum allows you to imagine the spectacles and events that once took place within its walls, igniting your imagination and leaving you in awe of the ancient world. If you have the opportunity, visiting the Colosseum in Arles is an unforgettable experience that brings history to life.

The Arles Amphitheatre is a remarkably well-preserved Roman building, showcasing the architectural prowess of ancient Rome. Over the last 200 years, it has been meticulously conserved and partially rebuilt, offering visitors a glimpse into its historical significance. While there are many steps to navigate, especially for those wishing to visit the towers, a short climb grants access to the main seating area, where you can soak in the atmosphere of ancient spectacles. It's fascinating to note that the site is still in use for modern events, adding to its allure. An essential visit for fans of Rome and anyone interested in experiencing history come to life.

Very well preserved Roman building. It was conserved and partially rebuilt over last 200 years. There are a LOT of steps, if you want to visit the towers. But a short climb gets you to the main seating area. The site is still in use for modern events. Essential visit for fans of Rome.

Colosseum's always fascinate me so I enjoyed walking through. Fortunately I didn't have to pay because it was French historical day so that was excellent. If it costs more than €10 and your limited on funds, maybe reconsider because it's still great to see it from the outside as well. But definitely worth checking out if you can.
Henry Munroe — Google review
It’s always impressive to see this kind of architecture even from outside only. The old town surrounding the arena is cute. Tons of cool architecture in the narrow streets.

Visiting the Amphitheatre in Arles is like a trip back through time. While there are other similar relics (think the colosseum in Rome) I doubt any other is as well preserved, as accessible as uncrowded. The morning we were visited there were multiple tour groups (the river cruises docked that morning) but they were tiny given the capacity of the Amphitheatre. Our first visit to a Roman relic of this size and it was amazing - a real trip backwards in time. This alone was worth the trip to Arles. A must see!
David Silversmith — Google review
Walking around it is enough to get a fine idea and feel for the place. The interior is not as impressive. There are plenty of other things to do and visit in Arles.
If your time is limited, just walk around and keep enjoying the town. There are some great restaurants across the arena to enjoy the view.
Rafael Gonzalez-Arnau — Google review
Super interesting. They have a map/illustration of how the amphitheatre became a walled city during middle ages. People moved in, built homes, a plaza, a church! The entry points became city doors. Must visit.
There is an amazing little restaurant right outside (sorry, can't remember the name!) but the food was magnificent.
Here is my monkey "Lenin" enjoying the sun!

Not much to see from outside but… a drone makes a difference.
So, our Mini 2 was allowed to fly and here you can see the effect. In theory one can see the spectacle from air, though am not sure how well it is enlightened.
I strongly recommend to come and to see it. And to have „Taureau Camarguais” - regional beef dish with local rice. Delicious and must have.

The arena at Nîmes is wonderful but the arena at Arles simply knocks it out of the park. What is left after the Arlésiens mined it for stones to build other things is incredibly well preserved. You can climb right up to the top seats and get a wonderful view of the town.

Small entrance out the front, so queue can be long. It’s a massive amphitheater which was cool however not much to see, just going up and around. So you won’t need a lot of time here.
Would be a bit challenging for children and older people with the steps and lack of safety.

The amphitheater in Arles is amazing, as is the city itself. We enjoyed every minute here. Everything in the city has Roman history which I really liked. Any recommendation for visiting Arles, its sights, as well as small wonderful cafes. definitely pay attention to the fact that Van Gogh also lived and worked in this city, so you will be able to find a lot of postcards and other souvenirs with his works, and you can also visit the cafe that Vincent painted.

If this wasn't your main reason for visiting Nîmes, it should at least be your second. 5/5 must visit.

An outstanding Roman arena undergoing a lot of restoration work. Entry was 10 euros though there are family tickets as well. There is an option to have audio commentary once you are inside. Toilets are on site. There is a bar but only open for events. The exit is through the gift shop which doesn't appear to be too expensive.

This is a TOP visit if you are around Nîmes, an incredible view from the past, a living museum! Don’t miss it !
For my big surprise, pet friendly for small dogs.

There was a queue to buy tickets but it moved fast. We spent almost hours walking around while listening to the interesting narration of the audi guide; about the history of the amphitheatre and it's purpose. The visit was totally worth it.

Stunning on the outside, but the inside is not worth a visit if you’ve been to Verona or Rome. It’s mainly scaffolding with tribunes for shows. So nothing majorly nice to look at and not photogenic either. You can save yourself the 10 Euro entry fee per adult.
If you go though, make sure to get the combo ticket that also only costs 10 Euros and allows also entry to the Tour Magne.

The Amphitheatre of Nîmes is a sight to behold. Standing at an impressive 21 metres tall, the intact colleseum immerses you into ancient Nîmes.
The restoration projects that have been ongoing for some 10 years have made a lot of significant and beautiful refurbishments that only enhance the Amphitheatre. While I appreciate the remaining half in the authentic, as it was, way.
The "City of the Gods" show was spectacular and a pleasure for all, too.
Make sure you book tickets in advance to avoid disappointment.

No other words than amazing. It's said to be the best preserved Roman amphitheater and after visiting a few I have to agree. If you are in the area I highly recommend visiting. On my visit the amphitheater was set for a concert and I'm still happy to have seen its beautiful. I visited on a saturday and it was not busy

Big and beautiful ancient arena, now turn into a concert hall.
Looking outside is much more interesting and grand. But inside pretty much full of tool, concert equipments.
The audio is interesting to explain about the place and you can visit only half of the arena, due to under construction.
Pasan Sensouk — Google review
Amazing Roman architecture, they were setting up a concert hall when I went to visit. They provide you a mobile tour guide in different languages and there is a nice souvenir shop on the way out.

Beautiful and amazon Arena, dated s. I D.C. so almost 2000 years and still splendurous and astonishing. Now under big renovation but still can visit this historical monument. Specially recommended to take photos during sunset time but also night time.

Nimes amphitheatre is another beautiful example of Roman architecture. It was built around 100 AD and is well-preserved today. It was once used for gladiator fights and still hosts various events such as bullfights, concerts and other events. While smaller than the Colosseum in Rome, I was still amazed by the size and design of the arena. I highly recommend going all the way to the top level to enjoy great views of Nimes and the amphitheatre itself.
B Schmidt — Google review
Very cool Roman amphitheater with a comprehensive audio guide (several languages available) that is more interesting and entertaining than most. Just be sure to bring a photo ID. Very friendly employees here as well who speak English. We didn’t buy tickets in advance but it wasn’t too busy and there was virtually no wait.
Lots of concerts/festivals during the summer so unfortunately the middle of the arena was set up with a stage and sound booth etc. - a unique location if you’re attending a concert here but still worth a visit if you’re not.
Joycelin Wong — Google review
The Arena is in really good shape. However, a day before we visited it there was a concert inside, so we had a ”pleasure” to see all the construction related to it - that made a negative impact on our experience. Besides, there was a strong smell of urine on the ground floor.
Despite the above, a place with great history, well preserved, definitely worth seeing.
Maciej Żebrok — Google review
One of the most preserved roman amphitheatres / arenas I have ever seen. The tickets are also affordable and you get an audio guide with it by default. There is also a good souvenir shop at the exit of the arena. Definitely recommended place to visit.
Ivan Antunovic — Google review
The amphitheater is a beautiful and historic Roman arena that will inspire any intrepid traveller with an interest in Roman history.
There is an audioguide available for anyone interested in learning more about the history of the arena and is a worthwhile addition when looking around the amphitheater.
At the exit of the arena there is a shop where people can buy souvenirs.
There is a combination ticket available to buy that also includes access to the Maison Carrée and the Tour Magne, I’d recommend buying it if you’re interested in site seeing Nîmes.
I’d definitely recommend visiting the Amphitheater of Nîmes.
Simon Jones — Google review
It’s definitely worth buying the combo ticket to visit the Maison Carrée” and the museum, though we didn’t have time to visit the latter. The arena is very well preserved and a pleasure to visit. It’s still hosting many types of events. A must see in the region, definitely recommended.

The Nîmes Amphitheatre is an incredible testament to Roman engineering and architecture. This well-preserved arena is not only an important historical site but also a venue for concerts and events today. Walking through its corridors and seating areas transports you back in time, evoking the grandeur of ancient gladiatorial contests. The scale and preservation of this amphitheater are truly awe-inspiring, making it a must-visit attraction in Nîmes. Whether you're interested in history, architecture, or simply want to immerse yourself in the past, the Nîmes Amphitheatre delivers a memorable experience.
The historical landmark Jardin de La Fontaine is a public park located in Nimes. It is a beautifully landscaped garden with Roman ruins and botanic gardens, as well as ponds and sculptures. The park offers stunning views of the city below.
This park in Nîmes is really beautiful, the trees give it a cool breeze. From the park you have a clear and lovely view of the town. It is so breath-taking just to visit the place. I would go back there countless times. I was with friends so, The more the Merrier...but you can do it solo.

A sublime park that climbs the hillside until it meets the tower Magne at the summit. The views, sculptures and Roman architecture around the source are all fantastic. Plenty of places to sit and relax with a picnic or sunbathe. Small children's parks are placed throughout with a miniature carousel by the main entrance. It's well maintained and naturally very green, with a mixture of more exotic plants and trees added for variety. The source is also surrounded by various fountains and water features keeping the air cool and fresh. A must visit for all ages!

The imposing Château des Baux-de-Provence is a former medieval fortress located in the hills above the village of Baux, just outside of Provence. The castle has been used as a feudal stronghold and tourist attraction for centuries, with displays of replica siege engines and costumed events in summer.
Amazing stunning little town sheltered behind castle walls. Was here a while back but just loved it. Hope to return.

A must visit for people interested in medieval castles. There’s a video (subtitled in English) playing inside the castle about the region’s (and castle’s) past, which is very informative.
Entry to the castle is 8 EUR for adults at the time of writing.
The town itself is also very worthwhile: calm and authentic with beautiful sightseeing-spots all over.

This is a very old village at the top of a small mountain. It is very charming and very walkable. A word of warning is that it has developed into what appears to be quite the tourist attraction. There are many shops with all sorts of interesting products. Several places to get ice cream and a surprising number of cafés and restaurants, with all having their unique charm. We only had a little over an hour there, so just enough time to walk it quickly and do a little shopping. There is a ruined chateaux at the top that requires paid admission. It looked like it had some interesting displays but I did not have time. I would highly recommend that you dedicate at least a half a day or even a whole day to really appreciate this place.

A must visit place. Very interesting and historical place. The climb is not difficult but you have to be very careful because it could be very windy above. Entrance fee is 10 Euro per head. Take lots of pictures from above the view is really amazing. Parking space is available below.

We visited this adorable town of Baux in October. It was the perfect time, it was cool and sunny. In Baux there are cute tourist shops, art galleries and a good restaurant overlooking the valley that serves delicious bruschetta (keep to the right in the beginning of the climb and you can't miss it). The Chateau sits on the top of the village, so you need to be able to walk uphill on a rocky surface. I have bad knees, I could do it but it was a bit painful. My boyfriend who is like a goat, ran to the top and down and back up again. He would give this place a 10. It was his favorite village while visiting Provence. The views from the chateau are panoramic. You can see for miles the valleys below. I recommend wearing good shoes with some tread as you have to do a lot of walking uphill and on gravel to see everything. I particularly enjoyed the art galleries in this town. The artists were actually good. The art was not typical tourist scenes of Baux, but modern and well done. I wish I could have spent some more time there to paint plein air but we wanted to see all of Provence in two weeks. It wasn't a plein air painting trip. Perhaps next time.

Visited in March 2023. A good place to spend a whole day at. There are 2 museums, a lot of cafés, restaurants and little shops for tourists. It's interesting to wander around the ruined castle. You can see Medieval siege weapons and read the historical information. There is also an art exhibition.

Very cool cobbled streets winding up a steep hill. Was more crowded with tourists than I expected which diminished a fair bit of the charm. It was a scorching hot day when I visited and there was little shade.

Les Baux de Provence is an amazing medieval castle and a must-see destination. The area has been inhabited since prehistoric times, with its rich history evident throughout. It's a treasure that never disappoints, offering captivating exhibitions of paintings, pottery, and sculptures in the village. Exploring the area requires about half a day, as it's situated atop a small mountain, making it charming and easily walkable. However, it has become quite a tourist attraction, with numerous shops, ice cream parlors, cafes, and restaurants adding to its allure. While we only had a short time to explore, I highly recommend dedicating at least half a day, if not a full day, to truly appreciate all that Les Baux de Provence has to offer.

A perched village that has survived for centuries in these hills of Provence. Very characteristic full of shops and shops that give a full experience. The castle is huge and dominates the hill, It's practically a ruin, but it welcomes many organizations from the site managers who bring it back to life.Definitely a beautiful place for families that knows how to delight with its numerous views of the gardens or even the archery game as it was back in the day.
J_Gogo — Google review
One of best castle ruins in a village we have visited.
Outside the castle ruins, there is a plateau. When you walk up to the edges, a 270’ breathtaking view of the surroundings greets you.
The walls of the ruins itself have been weathered to some extent which makes some of them look like honeycombs.
The ruins extend quite a distance inside and there are 3 places which you can climb up to for better vantage point.
For weaponry of medieval times, you can see several trebuchets and a battering ram on the castle grounds.
Ticket are priced at EUR 8/adult, which is worth it. Spend a couple of hours here to enjoy the walk and climb. Soak in the history.

The Carrières de Lumières is an art center situated in ancient quarries in the village of Baux-de-Provence in southern France. The center hosts exhibitions of digital art that project the imagery of famous artists like Picasso and Van Gogh on century old limestone walls.
What a form of art it is! The blend of light and music with this art will make you feel immersed into it. It will be a wonderful experience for anyone regardless of their interest in art. The theme when I went was "Venice, La Serenissima"
This is a great form of art expression and exhibition and would be happy to visit again as they have changing themes.

Really above expectations. Beautiful presentation in a mountain. It already starts with the beautiful route to the location. Parking 🅿️ is paid, but enough spots and some will require some more walking. Location is children and wheelchair friendly. Even the kids enjoyed the show as the complete location is part of the presentation. Beautiful storyline and nice that there are multiple benches to sit, relax and to enjoy the show. It’s worth it to do a round and view the show from different angles. Cafe/lunch section is not the greatest but ok 👍🏻.

The immersive light show exhibition is a breathtaking fusion of art and technology, casting the impassioned brushstrokes of Van Gogh and his Impressionist contemporaries onto an expansive canvas that envelops the entire space. The Pont du Gard is a remarkable aqueduct bridge that was constructed by the Romans in the 1st century AD. It spans over three well-preserved arched tiers and stands as one of the most well-preserved ancient infrastructures found in Europe. The structure boasts an impressive level of symmetry, with rhythmic repetition of arches that exude strength and nobility. Its status as a World Heritage Site attests to its historical significance and architectural beauty.

The Pont du Gard is an architectural masterpiece that truly captivates with its fascinating design. Its majestic arches, meticulously constructed by the ancient Romans, stand as a testament to their engineering prowess. The bridge's blend of form and function is simply awe-inspiring.
Surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty, the Pont du Gard offers stunning scenery that enhances the overall experience. The gentle flow of the river beneath the bridge adds to the tranquil atmosphere, making it a perfect place to relax and soak in the surroundings.
One of the notable aspects of this site is its commitment to cleanliness and environmental preservation. The Pont du Gard is remarkably well-maintained, ensuring that visitors can appreciate its historical and natural charm without distraction.
The crystal-clear waters of the river that runs beneath the bridge are a sight to behold, and the opportunity to swim or simply dip your toes in this pristine river is a refreshing bonus.
I left the Pont du Gard with a deep sense of wonder and a promise to myself that I would revisit this extraordinary place someday. You can find more information about the bridge at the museum which only costs €6.50.
It can be a bit crowded (we were there on a weekday and there were plenty of people) and you will need to pay €9 for parking.
Bella Swajaya — Google review
Very beautiful even after all these years. You can either enjoy the view or go swimming. We paid 9€ for parking, there's a "touist area" with shops and so on, I guess that's necessary, but it didn't really deduct anything from the overall experience.

You think an aqueduct is nothing special? Think again! This is the tallest Roman bridge-aqueduct in the world, standing at 48m high, which dates back over 2000 years.
The whole area is well-maintained and almost like a huge park. It is perfect for a Picknick, a meal on the terrace of the restaurant with a view of the aqueduct a mountain bike tour, a hike or just to chill near the river and have a swim in summer.
A V — Google review
It's the most visited site in France and it's a UNESCO World Heritage site, that says something about it.
The parking is charged at 9€ per vehicle and there are no other charges for visiting the site but the museum visit is at additional cost.
The place is quite beautiful and has small hiking paths all around it, you can get some pretty good views of the aqueduct if you venture a little into the woods.

This is one of the coolest things to see. How Roman made things still are around still stuns me and many, not something often seen in the United States. Easy to walk and if you go further down, can get great photos as well as dip you toes in the water on a hot day.
Kelly Atwood — Google review
A huge monument that blends into the landscape ... pure poetry. Since Roman times this aqueduct has remained standing and demonstrates its solidity and quality, but the most beautiful thing is how man managed to enhance it and merge it with his interests. The Rhône River is used as a seaside resort where everyone gathers to have fun and enjoy a day of relaxation. I really liked it and it is definitely worth its fame, so why not pay us a visit? 🤩

What an experience! The bridge is such a jaw-dropping piece of architecture, and there is so much to see and do here. You can go swimming and hiking, you can chill and eat with a view, you can buy souvenirs, and you can visit the museum and exhibitions.
Entrance is free of charge (the museum and exhibition cost extra), and parking is 9€ for 24 hours (you could even stay overnight with a caravan or mobile home, if you don’t need any amenities or electricity).
In my opinion a perfect and affordable place for a day out. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

The Pont du Gard is truly a marvel to behold, with its gigantic aqueduct showcasing incredible Roman architecture. Seeing it in person is even more awe-inspiring. The sheer scale of the structure is amazing! In addition to its architectural significance, there's also a swimming area nearby, adding to the appeal. However, it's important to note that the area can get scorching hot, so be prepared for the heat when visiting. Overall, experiencing the Pont du Gard is an unforgettable journey back in time and a testament to the ingenuity of ancient engineering.

This bridge is legendary, the place is very special. At any time of the day you can feel a fascination and all tourists behave with equal respect and consideration. This is particularly noticeable in the garbage that ends up in the trash can here and not in nature.
Most people approach from the left side because that's where the parking lot is. The bridge takes you to the right side of the river and there is also a nice swimming opportunity there.
What makes the place so fascinating? On the one hand, the history, an enormous construction achievement. On the other hand, the play of colors at all times of the day. All the people start building a small dam out of the stones. Whether 5 years old or over 70 years old.
15 years ago you could still cross the bridge at the very top of the watercourse. This is now blocked. Nevertheless, the climb is worth it because the view of the bridge is unique. Likewise the tunnel above, which also had to be built for the aqueduct.

A must!
Pictures don’t do justice to the beauty of the bridge and its surroundings. Make sure to have some time to sit at the cafe once you cross the bridge to enjoy the view. Went in November with not many tourists and the calm was much appreciated

What a cool place to visit. I only wish we had more time. My husband and I would have liked to have hiked the entire place. We did go up to the bridge and did the steps to the top. I would have liked to have gone on the other side!
The Palais des Papes is a historical landmark in Avignon, France. It was originally constructed as the home of Pope Clement V and later served as the residence of other popes. The palace is now open to the public and features some beautiful artwork and cultural events.
Amazing castle with very interesting history guide. Chinese is available in the guide. There are incredible wall paintings in the castle where you can’t take photos in those rooms. It’s definitely worth the ticket price and the visit. The 3D castle magnet is very pretty and I couldn’t find the same magnet design elsewhere apart from in the castle souvenir shop. Unfortunately it seems impossible to visit the souvenir shop again once you are out of the gate.

Beautifully curated and well kept palace. There is so much history to be discovered, and so many new things to explore. It is very well kept, with cleaning every few weeks, for the outside. The town surrounding is very touristy, with many shops and restaurants to see. I would recommend going into the palace after lunch, so that you'll go in not starving.

The visitor experience here is really well done. We didn’t buy tickets ahead of time but there wasn’t much of a wait (<5 min) when we went on a Monday around 4pm. The histopad/tablet was a great interactive feature which made the overall visit more interesting. Loved the temporary Eva Jospin exhibits as well (which will be there until January 2024).

An amazing place with a history that makes you think about the "infallibility and unity" of the Catholic Church. Nevertheless, the palace itself, its vastness and splendor inspire respect and admiration. How were people in those times able to build something so huge and so solid at the same time!? Wonderful cloisters, walls and courtyards. Huge spaces of halls inside the palace. Incredible.
Rav W (RaVek72) — Google review
We enjoyed visiting this palace very much. Once we arrived and paid our tickets, we were offered tables and headphones. While we took the self guided tour we could see with the help of the tablets the way in which each room looked like back in the day. We appreciate the integration of technology in the experience. The tickets we got included a visit on the Avignon bridge too.
Georgiana Ioana — Google review
We purchased a package that included the Palisade des Papes, the garden, and the bridge where we visited the first two on one day and the bridge the next.
They provided a very interesting tablet that allows you to view many of the rooms you visit as they likely looked back in time. Many of the rooms were quite sparse and there are a number of stairs so those with issues with them might have issues.
The garden section was small and not very interesting due to the lack of well kept plants and flowers.
During our visit there was a photographic exhibition on the Amazon which was interesting but was very warm with all the lights even though it was October due to the very little cooling which consisted of a couple of fans.
Sal FromCal — Google review
After narrow streets of Avignon, suddenly we arrived in a very grand piazza, which is contrary to the small alleys in the city. Very nice place to spend your time sitting and enjoy the sunset. We didnt get into the palace since we were late. Hopefully next time
Ellen Brigitta — Google review
It's worth a walk through because of its importance and size, both significant but the crowds (even on the last day of October) can make looking at some of the smaller rooms impossible. So you wait until the crowd has left or you skip the room. In summer it would be horrific I'm sure, and if I imagine the crowds I would say not worth it. The tour route is not particularly clear and the history ipad thing is a bit clunky. The best thing I can say about it is that it saves trees for brochures.
Craig Priddle — Google review
Pretty stunning building with amazing views from the tower. The guide gadgets were good for adding colour to the rooms. The exhibition of cardboard sculptures was very interesting. I think for the time of year advance tickets we’re not necessary.
Paul Grace — Google review
This isn't a museum it's a massively overpriced augmented reality tour through mostly empty rooms. The walls look the same from the outside so you might as well stay there.
There is a nice view from the terrace but its not good enough to make up for the rest.

Very interesting and historical place.
Some rooms o areas are currently closed because of the COVID, but it's very nice anyway.
Be careful for the Mistrial in some parts!

Absolutely worth seeing. However, it is very popular and it felt a little bit like cattle being herded through. I'd also recommend buying tickets in advance. Nonetheless, it's a very interesting and beautiful place.

Excellent histopad which takes you through the various rooms. You scan the scan in each room and on your pad the room as it was is brought to life, with marked areas to learn more about the room, the people who used it and about some of the items used, as well as seeing how it was decorated. Well worth a visit. Many many steps both up and down.

Interesting to learn about the story of this place and how it was important geographically. Easy to visit, they have computer simulation of how the rooms looked. A few of them have the original painting and tiles. Don't forget to visit the gatdens as well.

I didn't know I would enjoy this visit so much. The computer tablets they lend you are a bit of a distraction at the beginning, but turn out to be a wealth of information and a lot of fun once you figure them out. The palace is amazing and historically very significant. This is the one thing everyone should do when visiting Avignon. I can't believe it took me this long to get there.
Guillaume Slama — Google review
The Palace itself was remarkable. It's hard to fathom that it was built so long along and in such incredible condition.
However, the Samsung tablet that they give you is a little immature. You scan a QR code and you read a little information (there is no sound) and then you are meant to scan the room and watch the screen to see a rendered version of how it used to look, which would be great for kids, but I prefer facts and historical data.
There were many many signs around the castle explaining things, but it was all in French. It's a shame the tablet couldn't be used to scan those information boards and translate into other languages like on Google Translate.
The large grandstand as you enter the exhibition also detracted from the experience, but I am still glad we attended.
There were some amazing artifacts and the Pope's bedroom with it's painted walls and elaborate floor was our favourite part.

Wonderful application on the Museum’s tablets showing how the rooms and halls (now empty) were decorated, what were the foods, etc. Impressing! Nice small garden. Lots of staires up and down. Combined ticket for palais, garden and Pont.

An absolutely historical hotspot. It’s one of the biggest, still existing middle age-gothic buildings/ structures. Really impressive - also nicely guided. Your visit will be combined (if you want) with a digital tablet guiding “game”. The digital guide motivates you to explore every room, as you can collect treasures.
André Bonin — Google review
Great palace from ancient times. You get a tablet for free to use during the visit. With that you can get a lot of background information about the palace and each room. With the tablet you can also look around to see on the screen how those rooms used to look like during the pope was living there.

We had a great experience visiting this palace. Lots of historical events happened here that everyone who comes to Avignon have to know. I've learned lots of new things about the way of living of the popes, his second hand, the treasury, the three-storey kitchen, etc. The palace is grandiose.

This is a beautiful place with lots of history. Be sure to walk on the very old famous bridge where you can see remnants from long ago. Lots of history and beauty here. Highly recommend a visit to Avignon. You will not be disappointed. 🩷

A visit to the Palais de Papes (Papal Palace) in Avignon takes visitors back to the 14th century when the city served as the seat of the Papacy. The palace is a magnificent Gothic structure, and was a symbol of power and influence for the Catholic Church during that time.
I enjoyed stunning architecture, frescoes, and halls that once hosted ceremonies and events.
There are various rooms and chambers to explore in the palace. The exhibits, artifacts, and multimedia presentations provide information about the significance of the Papal Palace in the medieval period.
From the top of the palace, there are panoramic views of the city of Avignon and the surrounding countryside.
Overall, a visit to the Papal Palace in Avignon is a worthwhile investment of time for a lengthy visit.
The Pont Saint-Benezet bridge, which spans the Rhone, is a well-known medieval structure. Constructed in 1185, it was once connecting Avignon with Villeneuve-les-Avignon. However, over time it was repeatedly damaged by floods and ultimately only four of its original arches remain.
A remarkable story and piece of history.
I liked the audio guide and we purchased our ticket for the bridge as part of a 3 part package with the Pope's Palace and gardens for just £17/person.
Make sure you take the time to go downstairs at the end of the tour to view the film room. There is some very interesting information on the restoration of the bridge and the most incredible reconstructed image on the wall of what all 22 arches would have looked like.
Highly recommend

The famous historic Bridge of Avignon. In fact it is only half bridge as part of it was broken down centuries ago due to changed of streaming of river Rhone. Marvellous walk and Tables with good explanations about construction and history also in English.
A lift allows also access for handicaped onto the Bridge.

It's simply a must see town in beautiful Provence.
The first impression is building up on approaches, when you drive along the impressive city walls. Parking is easy, with plenty of underground car parks, whichever direction you choose you see something interesting and beautiful. You really feel like being in an old town, surrounded by history. One of the most charming towns in France. Don't miss it of you are near by. It's only around one hour drive from Marseille.

It reminds me of the song my mother was singing when I was young ... The view of the river is quite nice. There is an elevator so we can go with a stroller. There is also an audio guide which is nice when you have the time to listen to it and no kids to watch out. It can be dangerous with very young kids, the barriers are not safe and they can easily fall.

Cool to finally see the pont d’Avignon… but it wasn’t that impressive. It was a bit of a let down, to be honest, but it was still a pleasant visit with a beautiful view of the lake!

The view is a bit disappointing and the main road passing just nearby really removes the charm of this historic site. Audio guide is nice to get to know the history.

It was a very nice day, and the palais de papes was absolutely stunning. I then walked towards the Pont Saint-Benezet, which was an amazing walk because of the many shops and old streets. I had to walk through the old wall, which was gorgeous, and then I laid eyes on the bridge, which was very historical. All in all a great trip.

Great spot to visit! Get the combo with the Palais des Papes, garden and Pont Saint-Benezet. You have an audio guide included at the bridge which is very interesting.
Very nice visit that will take you less than an hour.

Quite a reasonable destination and the view was pretty. It was only a top up of €2.5 from the palace of popes ticket (although the compound was separate) but it's worth a visit.

There is a free ferry ride on the river where you can probably take a picture from a different point of view. It’s hard to take picture without cars passing, this road is very busy. It’s a great view from above. Come here during sunset specially summertime.

Historic and world famous monument. You could just admire the bridge from afar, but I think it’s definitely worth paying to go and explore properly.
You’re given a little handheld device which gives you snippets of information along various points of the bridge. Thankfully the recordings only last for less than 2 minutes - which is plenty of time to give you some interesting facts without boring you to tears!
It’s also worth visiting at sunset and when it gets dark - it’s a really beautiful monument at all times of the day and night.
Caroline Findlay — Google review
You're charged a few Euros to get onto the bridge, and there's a small exhibition, but you'll see more of the bridge from either the riverbank or up on the nearby hillside. It's a bit of a 'must do' while in Avignon but you'll not really miss much if you don't have time.

If you are going to see the palace don't buy this separately. €12 palace ticket included this bridge. Nice scenic overview of palace from here.

It is a must see in Avignon - if only because of the famous song. Read the history behind the bridge and how bridges were built in the Middle Ages and are still today. Quite interesting and not too extensive info right before you get on the bridge. The latter is… just a beautiful bridge that abruptly ends in the middle of the Rhône river. But that is a mystery you can learn about as well if you bother to read the above mentioned info.

I've dreamt of visiting the bridge since I was 14. Today, at 56, the dream came true. "Sur le Pont d'Avignon, on y danse..." blared in my head as I walked along that lovely span that remains. It was everything I hoped for and more. But then again, Avignon is spectacular!
L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue Market is a sprawling market situated alongside the canals that offers an array of goods such as fruits, cheese, flowers, antiques and artworks. Although it exudes charm, prices are mainly targeted towards tourists with many vendors selling similar wares. Ideal for souvenir shopping but products like honey, wine or mustard can be purchased at nearby shops or Intermarche supermarket which is just a few kilometers away.
If you’re going to go to a market, this is the one that is a must. So many vendors in a very nice setting. We also enjoyed sitting in the shade and enjoyed the live singer. Better to go early and be prepared for so many people. We parked far away to enjoy the scenery.

In a village that feels naturally cooled by the streams, brooks and channels that run through it, market felt like a great opportunity to browse what was on offer.
While the town itself is a gem, market felt more or less like any other Provence market. More focused on tourist sales than being genuine. High prices and awareness that tourists will cough up if they find a trinket or a piece of cheese they like.
Visit for the atmosphere.

Huge market all over town, a little busy and feels more touristy than other markets in Provence, but if you only have time for one market this should probably be it.

This market is simply amazing and has all sorts of fresh produce, soap, clothes, souvenirs, flowers, local food, artistic works, and many many more! All the stall owners are super-friendly! PLUS, the surrounding has all sorts of restaurants for you to enjoy. And if you are interested in antiques, this place (and the vicinity as well) has a little market for that as well! Loved the market. It seems to go on forever when walking around it. Twisting and turning around the small streets of Isle sur la Sorge. You can buy cheeses, fresh vegetables, Tibetan Jewellery, French tea towels, and pretty much most things. The small shops open at 10.00. The first thing in the morning is much quieter as the shops open the town gets very busy. Definitely worth a visit, but try to park a bit further out of town if you can. Otherwise you will get stuck in gridlock as numbers of cars trying to pass through the town rises.

Abbey Notre-Dame de Sénanque is a 12th-century Cistercian monastery that offers guided tours of its church and cloisters. The abbey is located about 3 miles from the center of Gordes and has stunning lavender fields that provide a classic postcard shot during July and August. Visitors can explore the grounds on their own for an hour in the morning or join a guided tour to visit the interior at other times.
This small 12th century monastery is a fifteen minute drive from Gordes. It's an active monastery with six monks. You can go on a guided tour in French or opt for the self guided tour for which you'll get a tablet in multiple languages. The tablet tour is excellent: you can switch back and forth between the present and the past. You can learn a lot about life in a monastery. It takes around 30—60 min to complete the tour. The extensive gift shop sells products made by this and other monasteries. Especially the lavender honey is recommendable.
Beat A. Schwendimann — Google review
I went to see this Abbey for the second time. This time I went in early October. I knew the lavender would not be in bloom but I wanted to see it again anyway. I was not disappointed. The rows of once purple lavender still had a slight blue hue. They lead the eye like arrows to the newly washed stones of the Abbey. Once grayed by time, these stones are now a warm yellow. We were able to go inside, but it was Sunday and the monks were celebrating privately so we didn't get the tour. We walked around outside toward the back of the Abbey. The grounds are littered with big trees and brush. You can spot the bright white statue of Mary up the hill peeking between the branches. It is definitely worth a visit in any season, but if you can, it is best to time it when the lavender is blooming in June.

A beautiful, picturesque Abbey, steeped in serenity. I visited the Abbey in April, with all countryside in bloom and green. The historical value of the Abbey dates back centuries, and it’s wonderful to walk around the different sections and learn about it. There is a hiking path connecting the Abbey with Gordes village, if anyone is interested. There is lavender planted in all surroundings, making the place unique.

Awesome ride! And awesome place, the smell here was lovely. We walked around for an hour and continued our journey. There was a very long waiting line for the abbey, so we end up not going there. The pictures of the place also didn’t seem too beautiful as well. And entree is also not free.

A great place outdoor is the best to take some pictures and smell lavanda fields perfume. Indoor is less impressive but still worth a visit if you have never visited a 12th century abbey. Last time I was there was in summer 2017 but I am pretty sure nothing changes in a place like this, where time has literally stopped. You can book a guided tour if you want to. THis is a 4 star review as I enjoyed Gordes site more.

Very pretty stop to see the Abbey. It has a tour with a screen to scan in order to get more information about the life and times of the monks living here. Silence is necessary when walking around. However the drive here can be a little tricky so be careful making your way here.

the drive there offered a beautiful view of the surrounding nature. the lavender fields were colorful and not too crowded and parking there was pretty easy too.

Such a beautiful place, but it deserves so much more. Our guide seemed to be totally bored by his job, acoustic was terrible and the church was a messy construction site. To be honest, I was really disappointed as I still had such wonderful memory from this beautiful place from long ago when amazing Maronite music could be heard throughout the building which added to the magic. Sénanque definitely still is worth a visit but the tour felt soulless.

Great day trip to go see this. The roads are a bit narrow but that’s normal for this area in France. It was Good Friday when we went so the shop was closed and the lavender was not in season yet, but still worth a trip if you’re looking for something to do and still good for some pics

beauty and knowledge are two things you will take away from this amazing senanque. I can’t wait to return when the lavender is in bloom in the summer. I visited in mid October and the weather was perfect. the interactive pads they gave you to visit through the senanque is top-tear I live in NY and this was better than the museums there. So informative about how the Monks have lived and continue to live in this beautiful Senanque. The shop is incredible and a lot of their product is sourced from the grounds! The experience will take about an hour or hour and a half. The architecture of this place is stunning. Just a 10/10 and so well priced, tickets are cheap and the gift shop is reasonable. A true Gem and beautiful experience.

The visit will take up to 1 hour, and with the ticket fee you get and audio guide that aims to explain the history of the place.

We walked here from Gordes which was well worth the trip (but wear proper walking boots as the path is loose rock and extremely uneven). In March, which still seems to be the low season, this astonishing building was serenely peaceful and tranquil – especially the cloister. I felt so grateful to the monks for inviting the public into their dwelling. Recommend visiting out of season to really get a sense of what life must have been like here for centuries.

The Théâtre antique d'Orange is a remarkable Roman monument that has been recognized by UNESCO as one of France's most extraordinary Roman sites. It is an exceptionally well-preserved structure that stands out for its grand size and historical significance. Among the three existing intact Roman theaters in the world, this theater is unique with a seating capacity of 10,000 spectators and an enormous stage wall measuring 37m high, 103m wide, and 1.8m thick.
The theater is stunning. We took a virtual tour which gave a mock up of how it outdoors have been in the ancient times. I really recommend a visit to this place that is quite used nowadays as well for concerts and plays.
Davis Zambotti — Google review
I can recommend the Escape Game. It is highly engaging and a great way to add more depth to a visit to the Roman theater. The free audio guide can be combined with the Escape Game, but I would not suggest that. The audio fragments are relatively long and most of your attention will go to solving the puzzles of the game anyways.

Great find. We had a good walk around the whole area and had great views, even over to Mount Ventoux. And make sure to try out echoes against the amazing wall.

WOW. Absolute must see. Allow at least a couple of hours. Must be one of the best preserved amphitheatres. Don't miss the rooms behind the first tier.
Ray Jones — Google review
This was a wonderful example of ancient Roman architecture and ingenuity that gave rise to a theater that was used for many years for all kinds of entertainment and displays. It is one of only three of this kind in the world in this shape, and is a world UNESCO site. Not to be missed,

Tickets should be aquired from the Museum in front of the Theatre and include visits to both (11.5 euro). The Theatre is not very large but tall so that the sounds can be heared well. The statue of Augustus is well preserved and is impressing!

Best preserved Roman theater. Really interesting site. The have a 3d viewing add 9n that let's you view the theater as it was just as you come in.

Well preserved Roman theatre. One of the best we have in Europe. I'm glad to see that the new restoration make it available to host plays once again

Amazing to see an amphitheater almost as intact as it's prime. Have never seen a theatre with it's main stage wall intact, was quite a site to see. It's massive!
Jarrod Hunt — Google review
Very well preserved Roman theatre that is still in use, apparently with excellent acoustics. The stunning building behind the stage is one of the most remarkable of its kind for its grandeur and good condition. On the other hand, the tiers have been totally replaced by a modern structure.

What an awesome sight! Having studied Greek and Roman Theatre at college decades ago, I never expected to see a Roman Theatre in such a fantastic state of preservation - that stage building is just incredible. The audio guide was very good and the additional displays were very informative about Roman life generally. A memorable visit.

Fascinating place.
Bigger than you would expect and much more complicated. Actually an arts center as they did much more than just put on plays. They self guided tour is excellent. You leave feeling like you truly understand what a small segment of Roman life was like.
Wish we had more time to look around.
Museum is an added bonus showing what they used as everyday objects as well as props and build design elements.
Stephen G — Google review
The theater is absolutely gigantic and a must-see! It is just incredible how huge the theater is and how old.
I will definitively come here again for one of the concerts as experiencing one in such a setting must be one of the best things ever.
Not sure about people claiming the entrance fee. 13 Euros p.p. were absolutely okay and worth it unless you have a sight like this in your backyard and are used to such a sight. The audio guide was quite informative and interesting.
Annekathrin Wulfers — Google review
A piece of Roman history and architecture that withstood the test of time.
Wonder why they don’t build nowadays like they used to? 🤔
From the outside, it looks impressive. Every corner you look from, there’s a different facade which tells a story.
Entrance fee is €11.50/adult including the headset (compulsory) for the theatre and the museum across the road.
The theatre steps have been restored, so, not much of it is original. The backdrop where the stage is, is a work of art. Imagine how grand it will all be if it was still intact. However, just the remains tells you of the immense size of the building.
The Greeks and the Romans must be excellent sound technicians. So much so, the theatre is still used for concerts and performances because of its acoustics.
We climbed up to the very top, sat down to take it all in while looking down to the stage and backdrop.
If you do get a chance, visit Orange as well when you are visiting Avignon. You will not regret it.
Suggestion - the management of the theatre should give a choice to visitors to either opt for the headset or not. Other places seem to be doing that.

Arrived at 5pm Sunday, and guess what? Parking is free and the ticket to both the theatre and museum was free!

breathtaking views, lots of routes to walk and explore. the routes are very well marked, it is easy to find the way and the route, unfortunately, there are garbage on the route but I blame the tourists. nature is wonderful, there are birds circling over the cliffs, beautiful fish in the water, we saw goats, wild boars and hares. Fortunately, even when it's 40 degrees Celsius, you can find some shade between the trees. There are practically no people on the hiking trails, it's not bad on the water either, but it gets dangerous when kayaking people on both banks jump into the water, it's narrow and they are afraid to jump into a kayak. Also, a lot of people walk their dogs without a leash and they are not small dogs, which is not always comfortable. unfortunately, many people also take a loud speaker with them and play techno music, which is not always pleasant for those who seek silence.

Aug 23 What's this, I don't do five stars... This place of outstanding natural beauty has to be an exception. Extraordinary landscape seen largely from a (challenging) road. Don't miss it! The only minus is the hard sell everywhere on lavender. An unexpected plus the local liqueur made from chestnuts and served with white wine. Don't try this at home, but definitely worth a try on a hot summer day at a cafe overlooking the Ardeche.

Amazing scenery
Certainly one of the best sightseeing attractions in southern France. A river meandering through huge rock formations, partly exposed, partly covered in lush green vegetation. Rent a kayak and explore the canyon, hike through the canyon or just drive around and enjoy the scenery. Definitely worth a visit.

A stunningly beautiful area of France to visit. Amazing views along the road above and equally great views canoeing down below on the river. The road also is an excellent place for a bike ride if you like hills. (Though probably best to avoid in summer and start your ride early, it gets hot!)

We hired canoes and completed the 31km journey in about 4 hours and 30 minutes (the river was running quite fast due to the rain).
Great views and very quiet in late September.

Lovely area. Some of the walking trials have fallen down trees over the path. In one particular area it appears to have significant storm damage and the path has been washed away and a bit of due diligence is needed at this point of the walk. Came across and hand full of walkers but generally a very quiet pleasant walk. Can be difficult is some areas, ensure you have plenty of fluids for this walk and substantial snacks to see you through. Moderate to difficult in ability
Grotte Chauvet 2 - Ardèche is a unique complex located about 7km northeast of Vallon-Pont-d'Arc. This UNESCO-listed site is a replica of the original Grotte Chauvet cave and features around 1000 meticulously reproduced paintings, as well as approximately 450 bones and other debris.
Very impressive presentation of the very first human painting art in the world. Even the cave is a replica, you totally have the feeling of being in the real cave. I think it is fully acceptable that the original cave is not open for the public in order to preserve the original paintings. The interactive part of the exhibition well introduce the fauna of the ice age.
thomymiskolc — Google review
Didn't know what to expect as you see a replica of the caves not the real deal. Got to say its well done and once inside you soon forget your not in the real cave. The audio tour is available in English and switches automatically as you go through each section. It takes about 1 hour to walk the cave.
jared ellam — Google review
Well I'm afraid it didn't quite hit the mark for a number of reasons. 1) we book a ticket for 15:30 and are then told we are late even though we were at the gate at 15:20. 2) You arrive at the entrance to the cave system. At the last minute you are told to download an App to be guided through the visit. Trouble is the site has very little phone signal (even the guide was laughing at that). 3) let's remember that this is a module of the real thing, but the guide says no photos and no videos. Why on earth not?! Sorry but I've €18 for this and want remember my visit... 4) OK, it looks inside but it is lifeless with no dampness, not cold enough and no sense of being in a real cave. 5) I guess I have to trust that this is a good replica of the real thing....
We went in Late November. I can imagine summer is very busy.

Book your spot in the grotto tour in advance! We arrived at 1pm (in April!) and the grotto was booked out for the day 😮 Museum is still worth a visit though! So is the temporary art installation "animal de la préhistoire" That was absolutely fantastic! We went twice in a row... 😁

Absolutely worth a visit, there is so much to see at this site. But most impressive is the replicated cave. The attention to detail is amazing. The tour through the "cave" is slow and you get a real feel of how the real cave would appear.
Alexander Lewis — Google review
The original cave must be amazing and one of the most important for humanity. The copy is a huge engineering and architecture achievement. However I could not stop wandering how well they reproduced the original paintings. I would have loved to look at the details of each piece but this point is mute when we consider a reproduction.
The tour is rushed because they are more interested in making money.
Facilities are not set up for large Amos of people, in the Cafe I had to wait 30 minutes for a warmed up sandwich.
Overall very pleasant experience.
Ferenc Borondics — Google review
I would give this place ten stars if it was possible. The cave is so interesting, it feels as if it was the real one, both for smell and darkness, and the guide explained the main paintings, and still also a number of minor drawings had been recreated and were visible. A second visit would also be interesting. The place also offers a park and an we could see an "moving" art exhibit which, although it had no connection with the archaeological visit, was surprising and great. There is plenty of parking and the place is easy to find (despite the winding road). It is forbidden to take photos in the cave as we were said the pictures are online.

We arrived around 5 pm and wanted to visit the cave. At the entrance we were already told that we must pay the complete price, but not see everything because of "the storm“ (lame excuse). The funny thing is: At the same time, each point of visit is covered. We decided to visit the cave anyway. In the cave we got headphones to listen to the explanations in German. So far, so good. However, the guide didn't pay any attention to the foreign speakers at all. As soon as she finished explaining in French, she turned off the lights and we were left in the dark. When we left the cave, 40min before closing time, all places to visit were already closed. For this, 18€ was not worth it and the staff is also not helpful at all. If you do not speak French in the store, you are abandoned. For a tourist place really sad.

We just went here today and we had a very good experience! The first one we were not si fortunate as we followed Waze and google in English and we were brought to the original site so we had to add 25 minutes more I think to reach the site. We selected English for our daughter and we were lucky to be just the 3 of us! The tour was so intimate with our guide who was very knowledgeable and informative, we forgot to ask his name! But he answered every questions and showed us interesting things! We appreciated a lot of things because him! Removed the misconception that 30,000 years ago people were less developed, smaller and not so smart to than we are! But in fact no, they have bigger brains, worked only 6 hours and created this magnificent cave that is such a marvel!

I have to admit that firstly I hesitated to go as it is about a replica of the real Chauvet cave. After reading all the good comments we did go and do not regret this! It is really great. We did go with 3 kids 12, 14 and 16 and there is an app that you can download upon the entrance and which will guide you through the cave with good intervals in different languages. Even in Dutch which was perfect for us and the kids. Please don't go with very young kids as it is only disturbing for others. Once you are in the cave it is like you are in the real one.

Loved the place. We arrived at around 9.30 for the 11.20 English language tour. This allowed us plenty of time to see the art installation, and the history of the area.
The tours start promptly, so be there or be square. You also have headphones to hear your guide. Great idea, helps block out screaming kids.
Very easy to walk if disabled. No steps and very gentle slopes.

It was awesome experience there. Cave is a replica. I have been to many different caves and this one looked pretty real. I liked it a lot. Plan your trip in advance. They have English guided tours to the cave at a specific time so we waited for two hours. There is a place to have your own lunch.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the crocodile farm in France and I must say, it was a truly memorable experience!
The crocodile farm offers an decent collection of snakes, crocodiles, turtles, and birds, all of which are beautifully maintained and cared for. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about these animals, and their enthusiasm is contagious. I learned so much during my visit and left feeling truly inspired.
While the price of admission was on the higher side, I felt that it was more than worth it for the chance to see such incredible animals in person. And while I imagine that this experience would be especially fun for kids, I can say from personal experience that adults will still find plenty to enjoy as well.
Overall, I highly recommend the crocodile farm to anyone with an interest in reptiles and other exotic animals. It is a rare and special opportunity to see these creatures up close and personal, and I am already looking forward to my next visit!

There are more than 350 crocodiles, many birds, snakes, turtles. The staff conduct small performances feeding animals and explaining interesting moments about reptiles and birds. There are a lot of exotic species and plants including coffee and cocoa! It’s pretty expensive- 19 euros per person - but it’s worth it for sure.

Very good location to spent 2-2,5 hours.
It's in a good shape.
In september its really calm so they close a lot of food and drinking shops. At the end you can grap something to eat and drink.
Maybe it should be better to open one shop at the children's playground.
The children's playground is really good.
The toilet could be better/cleaner. No toilet seat and environment friendly toilets are not the best ideas.

Very well done and thought out. Tons of activities for children ages 2-10. A little hot and humid in the main area, which is for the health of the animals but would be good to tell people preparing their visit. A bit difficult for strollers.

Visiting the reptile farm was an amazing experience that allowed me to connect with a diverse array of reptiles, both large and small. The interactive setup, complete with ladders and slides within the reptile enclosures, made it an exciting adventure for kids up to 12 years old. The variety of reptiles, including crocodiles, turtles, birds, snakes, and even exotic plants, showcased the beauty of the animal kingdom. Spending a good 2 to 3 hours there was just right to fully appreciate the collection, and if you're lucky enough to have extra time, you can quietly observe the intriguing subtleties of reptile behavior. While the snack and lunch area was a bit crowded, it was expected. Entrance for adults is a bit on the pricey side.

We have been visiting this place now and then and it has always improved in variety and presentation: there are not only many kinds of crocodiles but also reptiles and a great variety of birds and fish: moreover the vegetation is exotic and it is wonderful to walk through the paths watching the life around and getting really close to some animals. The temperature inside is like in a greenhouse, but pleasant. We were able to see the feeding of the birds. There are some areas that are sometimes crowded and the restaurant shoud be improved in quality and comfort. The parking is available.

Awesome and thorough park for crocodiles , turtles and other animals! It’s tricky in hot weather though - the frost third of the park is pretty stuffy and humid (naturally for the animals) but could use better ventilation or some fans for the humans. I had to leave my family early because it made me nauseous :( The main attractions really only start about 1/3-1/2 way through the visit so you kind of need to push through the beginning quickly.
The playground area by the restaurant was cool and there were a few decent options for food. A lot of junk though (cookies, donuts, candy, etc) so it’s better to pack a picnic for smaller kids.
Otherwise it was a great outing for our mixed group with kids ranging from 2-16.

The fortress has a rich history dating back to the 11th century and was later transformed into a more palatial dwelling during the Renaissance. Amazing experience tasting chocolate and wine. The wine pairing was especially wonderful.
My reflection after this visit:
The pleasure of wine is cumulative. Memories, smells, and experiences are released by a wine. That is why there is often a subjective element to what one tastes in a wine. So the key to enjoying wine, and particularly a complex, fine wine is copiousness: a mature, diverse, and well-stocked larder of life experiences. Tastes, smells, places, memories – life!
For a wine to taste like a pine forest after a fresh rain, you need to experience a pine forest after a fresh rain. For a wine to remind you of grandma’s kitchen after thanksgiving, you need to have taken a second to breath in grandma’s kitchen after thanksgiving.
So do you want to enjoy fine wine? Start by stopping and smelling the next rose on your path.
“51% of the pleasure of wine is not found in the glass, but in the surrounding and associations.”
—Guillaume Rénaud, French œnologue who taught us to pair wine with chocolate at Valrhona
Daniel Foucachon — Google review

Beautiful cave easily accessible. Not a lot to see but the view is to die for! Reserving in advance is advised since it’s always packed. The tour guides are well organized & there is a large option for language translation for the non-French speakers. At the end of the tour, inside the cave, there was a musical lights show that played. It was very different i liked it, it brought the cave to life. I took a lot of pictures and videos. A souvenir shop is located at the exit as for the bar is overpacked which makes the service slow. The staff was friendly and there’s a restroom near the parking. This place is not advised for people who fear heights or people with disabilities. It is child friendly and family oriented. It is definitely a place for photography enthusiasts.

Really amazing cave, with very interesting features. The tour is well organised, interesting for both kids and adults and a nice surprise at the end. And as a bonus there are a few walking paths outside that take you to another cave entrance and a waterfall in like 10 min.
Edgar Pacurariu — Google review
This is such a beautiful cave made by Mother Nature. I was so amazed by just looking at all the stalactites, stalagmites, beautiful soda straws, columns, and flowstones. They’ve been there for over 1000 years. There are small and medium underground lakes around the cave with fresh water, and a few lazy moving animals could make your kids interested. This is a cave that both adults and children alike can enjoy visiting.. After walking through a thousand stairs, you will enjoy a show of lights near the end of the tour. It is definitely worth it.
Entering with a cardigan or a jacket in summer could help. We did visit with a one hour tour, and our tour guide spoke both French and English. Outside the cave, there is a restaurant with a beautiful view and a gift shop. If you still have time after visiting the cave, you can ask your tour guide the way to walk around, or walk to the waterfall that is not far away from the cave.
I highly recommend booking the ticket online before visiting, it could save you a lot of time.
The price of a ticket for adults is 12€, children from 0 to 3 years old is 1.50€ , 4 years old to 14 years old is 7.50€, 15 years old to 18 years old is 10.50€.

The best things happen when not expected. We saw the sign for this cave when driving through a gorge. The entrance to the cave is under a 300m rock wall, impressive. There is a nice path inside it, but it has a very natural feel. You walk along a small river/stream and you see a couple of lakes on the walls millions of straw stalactites. Aparantly the stone is very clean resulting in beautiful white formations. It takes approximately an hour to finish the guided tour, only in french, but you can get headphones and can listen in other languages. Almost at the end there is a nice surprise. Highly recommend.

Best caves I've been too. I wish I could have stayed longer just soaking in the beauty. Nicely laid out paths that didn't detract from the ambiance. Very friendly staff too. The amphibians were our main reason for choosing this cave for my 7yo. They were great to see up close in real life even though they were just in tanks and not native.

Unique natural attraction. Guided tours every hour. Mangificant views inside the caves of stalactites and Underground lake. Multi media show with lights and music. Strange and funny animals without eyes 👀 😁 remember to take warm clothes as temperature is around +5+10 all year around.
The Couriot Musée de la Mine in Saint-Etienne is a museum dedicated to mining and the history of the area. The museum has an 8-acre park and picnic areas that give visitors a glimpse into life as a miner in the early 20th century. The guided tour includes information about how miners worked and lived, as well as modern high-speed elevators that take visitors down into the mine for a cart ride and walkthrough.
The best excuse to visit Saint Etienne. Plenty of information in open exhibitions as well as a guided tour through the facility. The tour includes a visit down the mine and a short ride on an operational mine train. Our tour guide, Chloe, was fantastic. She obviously enjoys her job and makes everyone excited to learn more as she explains everything with such passion and humour. The facility is in a relatively good state and the exhibitions within the mine help you travel back through time with examples of mines throughout the ages. I would highly recommend visiting this museum if you find yourself at Saint Etienne as the town has little else worth your time.

You will go underground and see how a charcoal mine is. The guide was very nice and very informative.

Good experience, although you can't go down a real mine. But it's nice to see how they worked down there.

The parc-musée de la mine, Saint-Etienne:
I recommend this visit! The museum of the mine of Saint-Etienne is a real witness of the history and the culture of the region. Indeed, I chose to visit this museum because if the activity of the mines ceased a long time ago, these last ones contributed to the formation of the region and they are always part of the landscape and the « Stéphanois » heritage.
This visit deeply marked me. Indeed, by discovering the mine one is quickly challenged by the extreme and sometimes dehumanizing conditions in which the miners worked. The deserted character of some rooms is sometimes chilling as for example « la salles des pendus », however it is easy to imagine in this quiet room the noisy activity which took place there a few decades ago.
The guided tour lasts one hour and fifteen minutes and is free for children, I found the guides fascinating, they lead us into the depths of the mine, putting us in the conditions of the miners. It is difficult to get bored, and even children can understand a lot from this visit.
Finally, at the end of the guided tour, it is possible to go to rooms that retrace the history of this place, of social struggles that took place on it and of the city of Saint-Etienne, thanks to models and archive images. I recommend the visit of these rooms to history buffs!

This museum is a former coal mine. Super interesting to visit if you pass by and you are interested in this kind of stuff. If you book in advance a guided tour (organised by the museum), you will also have the opportunity to visit a replica of the mine galleries, which includes a short underground train ride (underground facilities are not open to visitors with a regular entry ticket, guided tour only). Suitable for children. Everything is in French, though.

However, the tour is only in French. We joined anyway and going down into the mine was interesting enough by itself.

3 Boul. Maréchal Franchet d'Esperey, 42000 Saint-Étienne, France
Palais Idéal is a unique and fascinating historic landmark located in Hauterives, Drome. This extraordinary monument was built by a postman named Cheval over the course of 33 years. It is adorned with inscriptions of his poetry and stands as a testament to his dedication and creativity. The site has become a popular destination for visitors, offering an opportunity to explore the surreal construction that embodies someone's dream.
Wow! What a determination and passion to build his dream place. There are so many details. You can spend hours looking around. Jean-Michel Othoniel's exhibition was great too.

It’s worthwhile to visit this attraction and enjoy the small, peaceful villages nearby. This man is amazing to dedicate his 33 years for building an art work which gives benefits for the town’s government and brings a lots of works for the village as well as the enjoyment for the visitors.

What a great place to explore the mind of a genius. Every corner of this place has a surprise. Walked around it 5 times, each time I found something different.

It is definitely worth the time to drive to this nice monument and learn about the beautiful history behind it. A brilliant mailman built this palace for his daughter in 33 years by himself. There's even a beautiful movie about this true story called “L’incroyable histoire du facteur Cheval”.
There is a museum nearby as well.
It’s a good place for visiting with kids. They would be happy to find all of the objects on a map they get before entering. I highly recommend this destination.

This is an amazing experience. Walking through one man’s artistic vision is impressive. There is a nice movie about his life you can watch and other artist’s work that are homages to Ferdinand Cheval. You should also to a few moments and go to the cemetery where he built another structure because they wouldn’t allow him to be buried on site.
Anna Zucker — Google review
If you want to get the most exciting experience form the visit of the place I can recommend watching a movie about this place which tells about a romantic idea behind this famous work of art of a postman. It motivates and empowers when you see how one idea may spark the flame of creativity and self confidence. It’s not just a monument of naive art but it’s a story of a person who made the dream come true.
The visit is not so expensive as you also can take a look at the exhibition in the museum and buy some souvenirs. There’re lots of tourists. So better to arrive earlier to have a chance to take a photo of the palace with less people walking around.

Unique building, amazing to believe that one single man, without arquitecture experience can build this master piece alone. Really unique

What a gift to literally walk into someone's dream!
This surreal construction awakened the child in me as well as what it means to be dedicated to something .
The combination with Othoniel's work is perfect . I suggest going whilst still there .
Consider from 0:45 to 2:30 to visit the place (depending on your sensitivity)
There is also grass and benches to rest and hang around .
Bars and glaciers just outside the premises.
Enjoy!

This place is just wonderful, i can't imagine this was built by a single guy who traveled 45km to collect stones from the nearby river and build this naive architecture. A must visit site.

One of my favorites, a must see in Isere. The masterpiece is mesmerizing, reminds me of Sagrada Familia, the difference is this one is achieved by one person...truly admire the great postman !
Siming — Google review
It's hard to review this without partial stars. As the life labor of love of one man, I'd give this monument 4/4.5 stars.
As a destination, one on a little town in the middle of nowhere Farmville france, I'd give it 3/3.5 stars.
So, I'll give it a weak 4 stars. That is to say, if you have nothing to do, it's convenient to you and want to see something cool for 1 to 2 hours. Do it.
The cost is eur9.50 each adult.
I suspect it's FAR busier and more expensive and less pleasant in the warmer months though.
The grounds need maintenance for certain and I wonder if they do light shows and special events. Doesn't look like they do, but they should.
Pro tip... if you're outside the entrance, use the bathroom next to the city hall.
HA R — Google review
The story of the Postmand who build this "Palace" is simply outstanding. The amount of hours and work spend on creating this place is amazing. The Palace it self is a true work of art, and the more you look at it the more you see. We spend about 1,5 hours at this place, and I am still amazed as I write this. This is a testament of will power, dedication and hard work. It cost 9,5 Euro for adults and 6,5 for children. You are not allowed to carry backpacks since it is narrow, but there is boxes for storing backpacks while you visit the site. Parking was relatively easy, but most of parking is for cars below 2,2 meters. All text in the museum is in French, but Google Lens will help you with this. If you are in the area, do not hesitate to go see this, and read the story.

This place is magical. I am amazed at the effort this guy must have put in to build such an amazing monument. We spent over an hour looking at all the words he had written as he grew his work.
What was a little strange was the visit to the museum next to it. I'm not sure the piece about the house (not Facteur Cheval) actually work

Visiting the Palais Idéal du Facteur Cheval is like stepping into a whimsical dreamscape woven from the imagination of a true visionary. This architectural marvel, crafted by the humble postman Ferdinand Cheval, transcends mere description. Every corner boasts a kaleidoscope of intricate sculptures and intricate masonry, a testament to Cheval's unyielding dedication and creativity. The sheer audacity and poetry in the construction, comprising an amalgamation of various styles and influences, evoke a sense of wonder and awe. Conservation focused zoo with quite a lot of interesting primate exhibits (amongst a lot of other types of animals). Big enough that you can spend a few hours here but also not so big that it has to take up your entire day.
The zoo is positioned up a hill so there is some elevation change during your walk through but the park is entirely accessible (wheelchairs of course, but that means also strollers too Mamas… even enough room through entrances and pathways for huge American double strollers). And the layout of the enclosures up the hill allows for really good viewing of the animals in their enclosures.

Rue Antoine Seytre, 42800 Saint-Martin-la-Plaine, France
The Basilica Notre Dame de Fourviere is a neo-Byzantine religious confection of Roman columns and religious iconography, located in Lyon, France. Its towering exterior is meant to impress with its gleaming marble, gold gilt, fantastic stained glass and hallucinogenic ceiling, making it one of the city's most popular attractions.
Our Lady of Fourvière is an imposing church on the top of the hill with panoramic views of almost the entire city of Lyon. Inside, the rich decoration gives a grandeur to the temple that fixes you. I believe it is the most important attraction of the city without this meaning that this beautiful city does not have many hidden beauties for the traveler. Also for the climb to the hill I highly recommend the picturesque wagon with the cog railway.

The church is located up the hill of Lyon city, the view is spectacular. You can see almost all the building in Lyon. Also the church and art are beautiful both in and out. I think it is the most beautiful place of worship in Lyon and I think it is difficult to say otherwise. It is definitely a place that amazes externally and internally indeed and it can be seen from literally every corner of the city center of Lyon! It can be reached by funicular and from the hill you can enjoy a splendid view! Admission is free and it is possible to take photos.

A beautiful, ornate cathedral that I would highly recommend visiting for anyone who appreciates such places. It probably won't be quiet, as it's a big draw in the city, but it won't matter. And there is a great view from just outside the cathedral as well as a restaurant and café. Parking your bike isn't super easy, is my only criticism, as there doesn't seem to be any dedicated spaces for them. However, I was pretty easily able to put it somewhere.
Alex Jakeman — Google review
Visiting this magnificent cathedral provides an opportunity to appreciate the exquisite beauty of architecture, transcending its purely religious significance.
It is highly recommended to maintain a sense of decorum, refraining from raising your voice, and respecting the solemn atmosphere during Masses when exploring the cathedral.
Upon concluding your visit, you can savor a splendid panoramic view of the city from the nearby lookout point and indulge in a delightful coffee and snack at the outdoor café in close proximity.

While spending the day in Lyon we saw this beautiful white church high on a hilltop. We found an old funicular (one of the only four in the world) to take us to the church. The ride was unique but sadly passed through tunnels without any views. Once we got out, we saw this beautiful church both inside and out. In the crypt area, they had an exhibit about the cloth of Turin. There are also spectacular views of Lyon at the backside of the church. Definitely worth the visit if you're in the area...

Very beautiful church. The priest passing by greeted my family and I sitting in the pews and struck up a conversation in my native language, my children loved it. It was a great heart warming welcome for the children as it was their first time in Europe and inside a church.
A side note, as a visitor to any holy place, please be respectful, keep your voice down and control your children. Always make sure you are aloud to take pictures (never assume you are allowed to take pictures just because there are pictures online). While we were there there was was woman who thought that everyone in the church couldn't hear her.

One of the most spectacular places to visit in Lyon during the summer. You are able to see the city of Lyon from the terrace of basilica and in the middle of the summer this place can be quite crowded. If there is no clouds the view can be amazing as most buildings starts to reflect the sunlight, making a unique view. Inside the basilica is spectacular with French architecture is showing its best of times. Good place to pray as well if you are keen on doing so.

We walked through both floors and around the Basilica and it was very amazing. Tons of extremely impressive mosaics and lots of gold. A very amazing and dramatic view. They very well explain all the mosaics and art in the hall. The descriptions are only in French so make sure you either have your translating camera or someone to read the descriptions to you if you need as they are quite interesting. The lower floor was super unique showing different countries views on the church which isn’t super common it feels.

Just stunning - the highlight of Lyon for sure. They call it 'the upside down elephant' because it resembles an elephant on its back and it's strangely apt. The inside is beautiful and FREE to enter which is nice. Also really enjoyed the innovative contactless votive candle payment system. Great gift shop across the street too. Just beware the very steep hill and stairs up to the Basilica - they're no joke!

This basilica is located in the most strategic point in Lyon to get a great view of the city. Just walk around the basilica to the other side of the plaza and you will see all of Lyon in front of you. You can see the two rivers, and all the areas up to the far mountains.
For the basilica itself, I really liked the lion statue at the entrance, it's a great piece of art.
The candle stands inside are so beautiful with all the colorful candle cups.
I also liked the stained glass and paintings. I'll share some photos here.
This museum is devoted to hyper-realistic miniature scenes and movie props, as well as special effects exhibits. It is another unusual attraction that many tourists find fascinating. The museum has over 400 pieces of movie memorabilia, including costumes, accessories, and sets. Additionally, the museum houses a collection of 120 miniature movie sets meticulously created by artist Dan Ohlmann. Visitors can enjoy posing in front of dinosaurs or walking through a miniature version of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
A really great museum and fantastic way to spend an hour or two in Lyon. The first few floors are props, costumes and other items from major films. These are all pretty interesting, but the highlight is in the top floor. A series of absolutely incredible miniature scenes painstakingly created with astounding details. I could look at them for ages, marvelling at the skill. Never seen anything like it. My photos here are all models, no more than 2 feet across.

A fabulous museum. I last visited in 1998 when it was miniatures only and the highlight was Bible verses on a grain of rice. This is one of my favorite museums in France and is a great museum for a movie fan. You could spend a lot of time there without being bored. There are a lot of nice props, costumes, and film technologies, etc that are amazing. My favorite part of this museum is the miniature part. The miniatures are so incredible, and painstakingly created. I can visit and spend ages looking at all of them, and still not be bored at all. Visited this place a little bit before closing and I had to fight myself to believe that it was miniature. The first floor is major film props like Harry Potter, but the top floor is the main standout, A collection of incredibly detailed miniature scenes that were meticulously built. You could be amazed at the skill for a very long time, next to nothing you've ever seen. All of the images of the sets are pressed to the window, no more than 15 cm.

I came to this museum because I had access to it with the Lyon City Card pass (super easy to use when visiting Lyon). I really enjoyed this museum; it had 4-5 floors with 8-9 different exhibits. It’s a nice tourist attraction for cinephile and families that enjoy looking at movie props. I spent probably 1h30 doing all the floors and could’ve spent much longer if I wasn’t on a tight schedule.
There is lineup to get in here, but it wasn’t long (probably 15-20 mins wait). I recommend this museum to all that visit Lyon, especially if you want to escape the afternoon summer heat.

It's rare that you go to a museum that's truly different and spectacular at the same time, but this is exactly what this is. You start with visiting various parts of the set of the movie Perfume. Then there are a few floors containing various items used in many popular movies. You finish at the top floor containing lots of absolutely stunning miniatures used in films. Overall a brilliant experience and I'd say this is a must for any movie fans visiting Lyon.

When visiting Lyon, I didn’t have the intention to visit this museum. It was the beautiful reddish building that attracted me and I am very thankful. It was a beautiful experience, many interesting surprises and mesmerising pieces. Totally recommend

Came here over 7 years ago and I returned today. Such an endearing place, a Lyon must and, if you love films/design, you will enjoy it so much.
My only comment is that it lacks accessibility; the elevator was not working and the exhibitions are inaccessible unless you go up and down some slipper stairs over and over again.
Love place!!

Fantastic! Set in an amazing multi story building. Lots of neat movie props and history as well. Information signage is English too. The miniatures on the top floors are lifelike and excellent in the recreation.
Well worth the cost of admission and set inside the old town so lots of great stuff to see nearby too.
Highly recommend!

An enjoyable museum with displays of props and costumes from film and a lovely exhibition of miniatures. The Lyon City Pass allows discounted tickets at €5 instead of €16.

What a lovely museum.
I did enjoy it more than I thought that I would.
You need at least 2hrs.
Recommended when in Lyon.

Definitely a larger focus on older movies in this museum which is only natural. I’d say you need to be 25 or older to understand everything but it’s easy to appreciate for movie fans. Lots of cool props, the sets are rather niche but cool as are the miniature sets.

An amazing museum with so many items that would turn the heads of movie addicts. Real items that were used in blockbuster movies. The miniature part of the museum is really unbelievable, the level of details is incredible. A highly recommended destination whenever in Lyon
Vieux Lyon is located on the banks of the Saône River and features historic mansions with terracotta-tiled roofs and hidden courtyards. The Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste, built in medieval times, houses an elaborate astronomical clock, while the Movies & Miniature Museum displays miniature models created by Dan Ohlmann. The area's steep streets are lined with upscale bars serving Beaujolais wines and fine-dining restaurants.
