Großer Arber
Mountain peak
Outdoor Activities
Mountain offering picturesque views, a forest park, hiking trails & winding roads for motorbiking.
I came here in the middle of March, the mountain was still covered in snow and ice, I got to the mountain by bus, it was Saturday, so keep in mind that the last bus back leaves at 2 p.m., I arrived at the mountain at two o'clock))) I walked back on the road for cyclists, 6 km to the city center. There is also an option by bus to the nearest German towns, the bus to them goes more often and leaves until 5 or 6 p.m. . The ascent was complicated by the weather, but it was worth it because it was fantastically beautiful

Relatively easy hike for wandern lovers! From Lake to tip (one way), approximately 1.5 hour hike. Highly suggest if your in the area. The top has multiple viewing points and surprisingly not as many people on the top as we thought there would be. Weekdays are definitely better if your not a fan of crowds.
If you are only up for a small walk, around the lake is also quite enjoyable. Stroller friendly. No swimming, but you can rent a row boat in the summer months.
Parking only 3 euros.

Horrible, unfriendly employees, bathrooms were dirty, products overpriced (and apparently cheap imports). Barking dogs by other patrons in the restaurant (yuck). Cake was extremely delicious though.

Quite good, educational and fun, friendly personal. Can spend about half a day with children.
Family-friendly theme park with water rides & slides, roller coasters, go-karts & miniature golf.
Great place for kids aged 4-12.
The rides were really perfect for our 5 and 9 year old kids. Not too boring, not too scary, but a perfect fit.
Plus, there's two bumper car rides (in German: autoscooter). You don't have to pay and wait for the ride to start, but grab a car and join.
I also like the atmosphere in the park. It is a little bit older, but very attractive and down-to-earth.
Thorsten Hehn — Google review
A wonderful time with our Granddaughter. The entire park is made for everyone to enjoy. Rides for all ages included withing the entrance price. Wonderful walking paths or ride around the park on a park train. Enjoy the Flower Gardens and there are 2 BLACK SWANS for you to enjoy.
Dave American Mann — Google review
Nice park, suitable for 2-13 year old, however especially 6-10 year old children need to be accompanied still in most rides. The parks botanic is really beautiful, but somewhat unattended. The hygiene concept in this park is very questionable, with no disinfection possibilities other than at the toilets and "mandatory" adress registration folder laying unattended in the restaurants. Food prices are through the roof, so better be self-suppliant. There are better parks than this one.
Melanie Fuchs — Google review
We had a really good time with 2 kids in lovely summer day. You can spend here all day easily without waiting in a queue.
Food and drinks are quite expensive here.
If you are fed up with attractions you can hide in "Little Versailles" gardens.
Veronika Lo — Google review
One of the best amusement parks , especially for you family with 3yr old kid. All the rides are enjoyable. We visited on Monday and enjoyed fullest. Service is friendly. People can spend 3-5 hrs. Many kid friendly rides and designed for kids. Go for it if you go near by.
Update: 14May2022
3rd time in the park as we love it. But this time on a Saturday, the park is little busy. There is some waiting time for Dashing Cars, Go-cart, and water rafting ride. The Park closes at 5PM. Other rides are ok. So, don't go on weekend.

2020 - Nice, especially for kids under 12.
2022 - We was back this year and a little has changed. A lot of attractions are managed by young guys or girls: once they start the machines they keep on watching the celly phone instead of the kids, they even seem to be working. This happened a lot of times. To the owner: be careful of the security of your guests and take a look of the workers always playing with telephones.

Great place for the kids. Does not matter how full it might look like..still there is room for everyone to have fun...I just love it.
Abdelrahman Erlebach — Google review
Great park for kids up to about 10 to 12. There is a bit for every kid from sandpits and waterslides to a bobsled track and a wild water ride. It feels like a small family run place and it quite a few of the people operating the rides operate two or three of them at once walking from one to another.
It all feels kind of dated like time forgot about the place and that gives it a special charm.
If you have small kids and are in the area it most certainly is worth a visit on a nice summer day.
Rollercoaster & water slide-filled attraction with regular, family-friendly themed events.
This is the best theme park. Ticket prices are very good and a lot of things for everyone.
coco mo — Google review
Great experience for the whole family. Something for everyone, entrance is a bit expensive but after that almost all rides are free of charge. You can keep the whole family busy for a whole day.
Good selection of restaurants that are not expensive.

An extraordinary place to spend free time. From the games that take your breath away, to the beauty and tranquility of the forest. you can also take a break in the shade of the trees but not too long, the games are waiting for you! We will be back.

A great place to spend free time with the whole family! Fun opportunities for all ages! One day is not enough to see you all! Our children were extremely excited! Food ok but you have to wait in line for a long time! At the entrance we did not have to wait in line because we bought tickets online and this is an advantage.

We went with kids, this was so much fun 🤩 you have to plan an entire day. On some rides you have to wait in the line as they are very popular. Zou can bring your own foods and drinks. Lot of fun. I recommend this place for family with small kids.

Bayern Park is a well-kept amusement park with some good rides and a reasonable price/performance ratio both in terms of park admission and catering. However, a park loses a lot of sympathy points as soon as the staff turns out to be incompetent, unfriendly and above all unenthusiastic. Sure, Bayern Park attracts tourists and you don’t have to like them, but elsewhere you force at least one or two smiles on your cheeks while you serve your guests professionally and without grumbling – why they don’t do it here is highly questionable, although it was only one day in the low-season.
Tobias Kathke — Google review
This is a great place for children and adults of all ages!! There are plenty of hand disinfectant stations everywhere! The bathrooms are keep clean also! And on all the rides people keep their distance.
Tony Buckley — Google review
Personally I love to go with family... It's a beautiful fun place with nature... but sometimes the staff, especially the restaurants server and cashiers, are totally disrespectful and make u feel uncomfortable. They just kill the mood ... although the rides r fun, sometimes the controlers do what they want other than the usual planned ride span, e.g., last visit, the caterpillar controller reduced the time span according to his convenience, all the kids were so disheartened 😔
Sangya Jha — Google review
Bayern Park is located in the South East of Bavaria 1.5hrs drive from Munich. It’s worth the trip, because you can spend a full day with the whole family in the park. There are rides for all ages, cute & slow for smaller children, but also rollercoasters and a free fall tower for teenagers and adults. There’s also a quieter part where you can see some animals and have a walk through a nice little wood. Prices are fair and you get a lot value for money. Parking is not an issue, plenty of space.
Da Dude — Google review
Had a great day with a 4 and 6 year old. Plenty to do for their ages. 8 hours of activities. The negative and its probably also at some other parks is the smoking. People chain smoking everywhere. Maybe its the people the park attracts but its crazy how many people are smoking everywhere around kids. A lot are also parents but as a parent myself why should my kids have to breath in their second hand smoke? Make designated smoking areas and free the kids from smoke!
Paul marks — Google review
You will spend there all day, because there is so many attractions that you won't even have time to try them all. And bring your own food and drinks, because the lines for food are long and the food is not very good.

🎡a very large territory,
🎡many food courts,
🎡many different attractions,
🎡entertainment for active and passive recreation.
🎢the only minus - time flies very quickly😅just like a lifetime of roller coasters!
Anne Siryk — Google review
Bayern Park offers a variety of attractions, including roller coasters, water rides, family rides, and more.
Popular attractions might include roller coasters like "Freischütz" and "Flug des Ikarus," as well as water rides like "Wildwasserbahn" (Wild Water Rafting) and "Rio Dorado."
There are also areas dedicated to younger children with gentler rides and activities.
This is quite clean and food affordable. Not a lot of choice. Drinks are very expensive.. 3,60 e for a drink !!
X R — Google review
The rides are really fun, good food and lots of green, flowery spaces. The woods are awesome and so nice for walks. Fun for the entire family. Water rides and lots of water play possibilities as well. Bring bathing suit or second set of clothing for the kids.

Trausnitz Castle, built in the 13th century, is located on a hill overlooking Landshut. It features a vaulted hall and chapel, as well as a museum showcasing unusual artworks and curiosities. The castle was constructed for the Wittelsbach dukes, with building work commencing in 1204. Visitors can reach the castle via a steep path from Altstadt. Inside, guests can admire the stunning architecture and interiors while enjoying views of the surrounding area.
Not easy to find with the car when you would try to find signs but Google maps can guide you :-)
They have a nice restaurant in the castle (build in 1204) where you also can sit outside and have a great view over the city Landshut.
It’s a beautiful city with a historical center and many different beautiful shops.

Castle that has been the families' seat of the Wittelsbacher for centuries. Unfortunately the majority of historic building substance has been lost due to the fire in 1961. So you can visit the rebuild castle with some saved originals and lots of blank walls.

Beautiful and well-kept castle on a hill above the city. For free you can visit the courtyard or you can walk around in the park and enjoy an amazing views of the historic center of Landshut. A vast and well taken cared Castle on a hill over looking Landshut. We visited during Christmas and had a private tour of the castle. The gentleman tour guide was well informed about the castle. The tour was in German only and I got a lamented sheet with English information to each room which was a nice gesture. Gorgeous architecture, rooms, interiors and view. The ticket office / shop was great. Bought a few books. There is also a restaurant on the property. Highly recommend.

Walking up the path to the castle from town in about 10-15 minutes. It’s steep but has a paved path. Very nice views from on top, with a restaurant. If you drive up there’s a parking lot. There’s also a WC in the courtyard. Didn’t do a tour, but they have one. The castle was founded in 1204 by Duke Ludwig l. The castle and its views are a highlight while visiting Landshut.

St. Martin's Church, also known as Martinskirche, is a significant Gothic monument in Landshut, Germany. Construction began around 1385 and was completed by 1500 with the involvement of master builder Hans Krumenauer and Hans von Burghausen. The church boasts extraordinary architecture that combines elements of high and late Gothic styles. Its tower stands at an impressive 130.1 meters, making it the tallest brick tower globally and in Bavaria. Visiting St.
The tallest brick building in the world…This brick building height is 130 metres. It is one of the medieval church in Bavaria. It is built in Gothic style.

It is the church with the tallest brick tower in the entire world, it looks quite spectacular, especially in contrast to the rest of the surrounding buildings which are pretty low. On the inside there are currently some renovations done (2019.04.06), so one can’t really enjoy the inside as much.

Really nice and special compared to other churches I visited in Bavaria
SHAHRYAR hoseinbeygi — Google review
This is the landmark of Landshut, and there are less chances of anyone missing it from any part of town centre.
The church is made of bricks, and 2nd tallest brick structure in the world. As with most churches in Bavaria and to most of Germany, the architecture style is Gothic.
It has got a huge crucifix hanging from the roof directly above the altar. For me it was the biggest indoor cross I had seen.
It's a good time to see all through year around, and gives Landshut Town Centre a definitive face. It does go without saying that visiting the church during mass is not allowed.
A must see place in Landshut.

Automobile history museum displaying a chronological collection of antique Maybach luxury cars.
Classic elegant location and building with well arranged exhibits. Visual and audio displays, well themed arrangements and extensive collection. Well stocked gift shop friendly staff and great asking and location for further exploration.

The museum is great. Anyone interested in old cars and aviation with Zeppelins has come to the right place. Entrance fee of 9.50 euros is just about okay.
However, parts of the museum are not heated. Be sure to dress warmly in winter. A room temperature that was 3 or 4 degrees higher wouldn't have been bad.
No credit cards accepted, only debit cards.

Thanks for hosting our car in the shadow. The museum itself was very interesting and necessary to visit.

I guess it is over rated; though there was some nice vintage cars, but the museum is relatively small.
I was expecting to see some new cars.
There are some interesting facts though, about the bike industry and patents, and also the war tanks industry.
The video related to the Hindenburg disaster and the crash of the Zeppelin in the US in 1937, was really touching!

Although it's a nice little museum with very nice expose, it would be nice, if the lights are switched ON, as it's quite difficult to read about the exhibits in a dark room (even if it's only 2pm)

Awesome collection, a perfect location, courteous staff. A very pleasant time. There are so many classic cars here, with a lot of useful history. All well maintained, and displayed. The attendants are very pleasant and willing to answer all my questions. The facility is very clean, with a few snacks/water/tea on hand for the thirsty! The motorcycles are also fantastic! This was my favorite part of the museum.

If you like the history of the automobile, this small museum is a must-see. Inexpensive and in an attractive and well-kept building, these Maybach vehicles provide a window into one of the best-made auto brands ever. Who knew they also made motorcycles and bicycles? These can be seen on-site as well.

I am sorry to say this, however as of now I cannot suggest this place to any of my friends.
It is clearly an old place and it looks like it’s not kept up as it is supposed to be.
- There is algae in all the outside filters and the inside filters do not look really clean either.
- The little “cave” has residue on the walls which makes me feel icky.
- The seats were made out of really cheap looking plastic and the metal frames of quiet a few of the loungers are rusty.
a. s. o. ..
There is no reason to make a special Tripp to this location.
T S — Google review
From the outside the place has great appeal with modern architecture and smooth surfaces, however once inside the age of the building shows. The changing rooms are packed full with changing booths and lockers with little room to maneuver around. There is only one male and one female shower room with 5-7 shower heads.
The pool area is cramped with chairs along the edges forcing you to side step past them. The concrete walls show signs of water damage and paint peeling all over. The two indoor “hot” pools were actually mildly warm with only small sections of bubbling water.
The area with the children’s pool and area was very nicely layout, however most of the kids were in the main area with their parents in the warm pools. Their behavior and loudness took away from the goal of relaxing.
A recommendation for the locker keys and access control to different areas, use a more modern method like a rubber wrist band embedded with a chip that is programmed at front desk. The coin chip works, however placing it in the wrist band holder with the locker key is bulky and requires constant attention to ensure it’s still tight or fastened to wrist.
Overall the place is best suited to take your children and let them burn some energy off. This is NOT a place to go if you wanna relax in a hot therme.

Awesome place to visit! Not only is the the tour 100% worth the very small entry fee but after your done be prepared for some beautiful nature walks! Pictures do not do this place justice! There is a nice restaurant right there as well that smelled delicious (we had already eaten before coming here)

Nice area to discover - the cave is just great, 45 mins route done by an experienced guide (only speaks German) seeing everything (BTW - take a jacket with you, inside is quite cold). Outside, the area is gorgeous so you could hike around and there are a few options to lunch - prices are reasonable and quality is overall good. Last but not least, the people working there is kind and there is a parking area next to it, but also some other lots nearby.
Juan Ignacio Gerosa — Google review
There is so much more than the cave in the area - if it's summer you can plan a whole day starting with thos amazing cave tour.
Even on a busy Sunday parking was not hard and it's €2 for two hours. There is a nice cafe on site and TONS of trails to walk on after the tour.
The tour itself was cheap and a lot of fun. They have lots of different language options as well. That have a family ticket that includes 2 adults and three kids for only €20. We brought light jackets and it was fine for the temperature.
100% would recommend.

Definetly worth visiting, they even have student discount (5€ each ticket) and give you a guided tour (which is in germany but at the end they'll play a english version over the spearks for you to understand everything about the devil's cave!). Addionally the tour guide was very nice to everyone. Beware that the path has a lot of stairs and can be a bit claustrophobic. In some parts you'll need to crouch a bit to be able to go through. But, again, it's definetly worth it!

Fun time! Rides for all ages so bring the whole family. Best part is free admission! They charge per ride/attraction and the prices are very reasonable. Of Disney charged per ride they'd go out of business but here it's a great working model.

Loved it! We bought 10 adult tickets and 10 kids tickets and that was a great time for our family of four. The two Rodelbahn were amazing fun, so that's pretty much what we did all day. The Hexenbesen wasn't as enjoyable, but that is just personal preference. I would definitely recommend getting there before early afternoon, as it seemed to start getting busier around then. We arrived around 11:00 and stayed for a few hours and barely had to queue at all.

Much fun for family but one less star becuase they only operated the yellow ride on the day we visited. Green and red were closed. The comfort offered by the caahier made us feel worse when she said "rides are all about the same"

The museum is currently in renovation. Currently, there is just one small part arranged. The entrance of 6 euro is a bit steep for what it is now, but already to stay in a real place of the history that you explain is a big plus. The Albrecht-Dürer-Haus offers insight into the life and work of the renowned artist.
The Evangelical Lutheran Parish of Nuremberg is a medieval church in the former free imperial city of Nuremberg in southern Germany. It was badly damaged during World War II and later restored. The Frauenkirche is a true treasure! Its historical importance and stunning architecture make it an essential destination. Rebuilt after the war, it's a delight for history and architecture enthusiasts alike. Apart from its scenic views, the area hosts numerous talented street performers. It's worth taking the time to appreciate their efforts to make a living. Visiting this church in Nuremberg was a treat for both history and architecture lovers. Although crowded on weekends, it's still worth the wait to enter. Located in the old town area, its towering spires and intricate design are impressive. Inside, the high ceilings and detailed interior add to the experience. Donations are encouraged, and there's a shop and information boards to learn more about its history. The church was originally built as a three-aisled basilica in the Gothic style around 1250, then expanded by an imposing late Gothic hall choir between 1439 and 1477. It was seriously damaged 😔 during the Second World War and it took about seven years to restore it.

The Imperial Castle of Nuremberg is a majestic castle complex from the 11th century that includes a royal palace and gardens, offering breathtaking views of the city. Originally built as a court, it later became infamous for being used by the Third Reich to enact oppressive laws in 1935. However, its most notable historical event was hosting the 'Nuremberg Trials' after World War II.
I had a great time walking around the castle, appreciating the history and contemplating what my home country looked like at the time the castle was built and bustling with activity. I went on a rainy, dreary day but I still had good views of the surrounding area.

Wow, wow, wow. Excellent castle visit to the Imperial Castle.
Located at the top of a hill, overlooking the city of Nuremberg, the Imperial Castle is reached after a serious climb uphill. Not difficult for the fully able ,it is a long rather arduous slog up to the courtyard.

It was amazing to visit this imperial castle of Nuremberg. The constructions were protected with 3 layered thick wall with around 10 ft thickness and 2 stages of different heights. The tunnels, the rooms, the towers, the gardens, the dungeons, the underground pathways designs and the city view points were awesome to see. I felt like I entered in the Game of Thrones series.

Amazing medieval castle that have been kept so well.
This is truly a castle with super strong defense.
Not far from the city center market, easy to walk to. Free to walk into it and there is a good view of the old town.
Even though Nuremberg was 90% destroyed during WWII, the old town was rebuilt and restored according to the pictures they had of the old buildings and structures. So, much of the history is preserved. Otherwise, if they had decided to build everything new, there would not be not much of the past left to see.
Very impressive old town city market with a gorgeous fountain and church, and you can buy fantastic food, flowers, gingerbread cookies….
If you are a WWII history fan, then you have a lot more places to see.
Really worth visiting.

It's incredible how well-preserved the castle is post-World War II. Its grandeur and size are truly breathtaking. From the top, overlooking the town, you understand why it was strategically placed there. The surrounding city walls in Nuremberg are still intact, offering about an hour's walk around them. Navigating the city is convenient; everything is within a 30-minute walk from the center, allowing you to discover hidden gems like bridges, churches, and historic buildings along the way. The castle itself offers free entry and plenty of areas to relax. Exploring its various sections, like the converted horse stables and food storage areas, is best with a knowledgeable local guide to delve into its history. Though it requires a bit of uphill walking, the panoramic view from the top makes it all worthwhile, showcasing the city's landmarks and beauty.

The well tour is very good and a must do, the tower has great views and the pictures of the WW2 damage are a great addition - The museum itself has good info on the building and its years and associated history, better than I expected and staff very friendly

Very pretty, caring lots of history. I was a bit disappointed that the crown was a 3D model and not something that would replicate best the real ones, but that’s understandable.
Not all the things inside the museum has an English translation, but it’s worth visiting the museum!

It has a really good view of the city. View point is open all the time, but the castle is closed on holidays and the weekend. Spent the new years eve here, and the view point was very much crowded.Inside it has a museum, a deep well, and a tower where you can take a better view of the city.

I still can't believe that the castle is still in such good shape after the Second World War. Breathtaking, massive, magnificent. When you go up to the top and look out over the town, you get a sense of why they built the castle where it is. I cannot get over how impressive it is. Also, Nuremberg is still surrounded by the great city walls. It takes about an hour to walk around them. That's the great thing about the city. You can walk anywhere and it never takes more than 30 minutes to get to the other side of the city centre. Best of all, while you are exploring the city on foot, you will find many other gems on your walking adventure. From bridges to churches and other lovely old buildings. Enjoy!🏰✨️
Little tip: During weekdays you can enter the inside of the castles for free. That is in the morning until 10am or so

This is a beautiful place to visit. It has a very steep cobbled path leading up to the entrance and a lot of steps inside. I bought the combination ticket which was worth it. The castle is well presented inside with educational displays. The tower is 112 steps up a spiral staircase, but the views from the top were beautiful. The tour to the well was funny and fascinating. The tour guide knew his stuff.
Virtual reality games, water slides & coasters in a family park with carousels & a boating lake.
It's a blast, huge, great park for a family with kids under the age of 10 or 12. It's really kitchen. It is a bit run down. It has a nostalgic charm. I thought the entrance fee was a little high, compared to similar amusement parks. The food was reasonably priced. There is a portion themed for the wild west of the USA. It was super fun to spend time in a park with a section themed for where our kids were born.

This amusement park is ideal for a family with young children, my daughter is 3 years old, she was able to take part in all the attractions, except for two of which she has not yet reached the size. had. The park is well-kept and lovingly laid out, a bit old, a bit dusty, but definitely worth a visit for the whole family.

The ibis Bamberg Altstadt is a basic, laid-back hotel located in the heart of Bamberg. It offers complimentary Wi-Fi and a 24-hour snack bar. The city of Bamberg features an imposing cathedral and many picturesque buildings with an authentic medieval appearance. Day trips to the cities of Nuremberg and Wurzburg are also very recommendable.
Near the old town and walking distance from train station. Price-quality wise really good. Peaceful and clean place. There are good restaurants nearby too. Friendly and helpful staff.

The hotel at the centre of Bamberg. The furnitures is quite old and the extra bed was broken. The underground parking was big enough but it was quite expensive.

Overall it is a nice hotel in a great location within walking distance to some great sights and places to eat. Hotel staff were super friendly and accommodating. Room was spacious with a comfy bed, BUT there was a very strong sewer smell in the bathroom and the shower was small and in a triangular shape so it was difficult to have a shower.
I would stay again

My husband and I arrived, during Christmas Market time. The concierge's name was Abdullah, who was very professional, personable and helpful. This hotel was close to the festivities and had underground parking. Parking fee was $20 euro for the parking, which was convenient not trying to find parking elsewhere or the possibility of walking long distances, with suitcases. The room and bathroom were very clean, location mostly quiet (in the middle of the night, there were people smoking and speaking loudly outside, which wasn't the hotel's fault), beds and pillows were comfortable and the temperature pleasant. If one didn't want to eat at the hotel, Cafe Luitpold was nearby with a delicious, fresh and nutritious breakfast. If we would travel again to Bamberg, we would consider this hotel again.

I stayed in this hotel for three nights and the staff was friendly during my stay. The room they gave me was spacious, but basically equipped, which is common for Ibis hotels. The bathroom was tiny and the holder for the shower head was broken, so it was uncomfortable to have a shower. The WIFI was fast and I liked the quiet location of the hotel not directly on the main shopping/entertainment street.
Thomas Dafinger — Google review
The only modern/budget hotel in the old town. Ask for rooms facing the street side (better view) and ending in 15 or 19 (larger). Not the best Ibis shower that I know (they're generally excellent), the shower floor levels with the bathroom (don't wash too enthusiastically), and there's a GREY shower curtain that doesn't let light it (now that's a first-timer!).

The central location is by far the best feature is this Ibis Bamberg Altstadt - you are just five minutes waking from Altes Rathaus, in the heart of the old town. The installations are very clean and functional. The bathroom is extremely small and they charge for the subterranean parking, which is something I didn’t see in the website. But anyway, in terms of cost benefit, it is definitely well worth.

Everything was great here!!! Breakfast, Clean rooms, quiet warm place, park for additional Euros, but not much. Excellent Staff service as they are very nice and kind.
The location is another great item, very close to the most popular city tourist attractions.
I do recommend it.
The Altes Rathaus, a renowned historical building and porcelain museum is located in Hanover, Germany. Constructed in 1410, it was the first town hall to be built in the city's old district. Following severe bomb attacks during World War II, it underwent restoration from 1953-1964.
Absolutely stunning building, an absolute must see when in Bamberg. Usually quite busy so best to go early in the morning, but at any time it’s lovely to admire the lovely old architecture!

What a majestic and historic place! This rathaus is located at the heart of the city of Bamberg. The building was renovated in 1461. Also the mural painted on the wall was done in 1960. Must visit tourist place in Bamberg.
Sourav Bhowmik — Google review
In history, first mentioned was built in 1387 and it was rebuilt between 1461 to 1467 and 1744 to 1756 by Johann Jakob Michael Küchenl. The façade was originally painted and created by Johann Anwander in 1755 and restored so many times, but in 1959 it was repainted again by Anton Greiner.
It was stated in the history that the Bishop of Bamberg (that time) doesn't want to give any of his land to the citizens, then the citizen built on an artificial small island along river stream Linker Regnitzarm that marks between episcopal mountain town and bourgeois island town.
Now, it is part of UNESCO World Heritage and one of the iconic landmarks in Bamberg that throng of tourists passes by here just to have pictures of the wonderful and meaningful Old Town Hall.
A lots of coffee shops, pub, hotel and souvenirs surrounds it.
A worth and informative visit in this place.

Absolutely stunning piece of architecture and the most historical building in Bamberg. Completely full with wonderful detailed paintings on the outside wall. Built over an arch bridge, the location is really beautiful. The river flows by and a chain of bridges located next adds more to its beauty, from where you can admire the building. It is mostly crowded and if you need a solo picture of the Rathaus or yourself then you have to come in the early hours of the morning.

One of the main tourist attractions in Bamberg - worth seeing but timing is the essence!
Beautiful building with stunning exterior façade, very busy during the day as people are just passing by and there are also way too many restaurants in the proximity of the building having seating all the way up to the entrance. Very touristy place, so it's worth visiting early in the morning and have a chance to take a decent picture and walk without crowds.
I visited the indoor exhibition of Meissen porcelain, which in my opinion was amazing. Something unusual to see. I was alone all the time during a self-guided visit spread out on both floors. Most information was available in German, only a few in English, no audio guide. The rococo hall was nice, offering some nice views of the river and the main cathedral of Bamberg. Entry fee was 6 EUR and I had to lock my backpack in the locker. Temporary ceramic exhibition at the basement was great as well showing beautiful pieces.
Unfortunately none of the staff was speaking English which was unusual for a tourist place like this, however they made sure I enjoyed my visit as they provided me with some printed material in English. I was unable to visit the rococo hall at my first attempt, therefore it was okay for me to return a few hours later without paying again for a ticket. It was truly amazing to see the staff trying and helping!
Worth visiting and enjoy a little moment of quietness in bustling city! Visited in July 2022.
The Bamberg Cathedral is a beautiful and historic Catholic cathedral located in Bamberg, Germany. Over the centuries, it has been the seat of the Archbishops of Bamberg and contains many artistic treasures, most notably the slender equestrian statue of the Bamberger Reiter (Bamberg Horseman), whose true identity remains a mystery. The cathedral is also associated with King Heinrich II, who became Emperor later in life.
A beautiful church with an extremely calming experience when you sit inside. Recommend lighting candles and looking at the beautiful decorations when here.

The cathedral of Bamberg is definitely one of the greatest buildings in the city. By the time we arrived there it was already closed, but we could appreciate the external architecture nonetheless; next to the cathedral there’s also a garden which is worth the visit.
Flavio Pimentel — Google review
The Bamberg Cathedral, completed in the 13th century, holds significant historical and cultural importance, earning its place in the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Town of Bamberg" since 1993. Officially known as Bamberg Cathedral of St. Peter and St. George, it is also referred to as the Kaiserdom or Imperial Cathedral. This cathedral houses the only papal grave in Germany after the destruction of Pope Benedict V's tomb in Hamburg in the early 19th century. Emperor Heinrich II and his wife Kunigunde are interred in a sepulcher near the entrance, while Pope Clement II is also buried here.
Visitors, like those depicted in the reviews, appreciate the cathedral's stunning architecture, intricate paintings, and notable historical figures entombed within. Despite its grandeur, some find the interior slightly underwhelming compared to other cathedrals in Germany, particularly in terms of design aesthetics. While access to certain areas like the cathedra, papal tomb, and frescoes may be restricted, guided tours are available, offering insights into the cathedral's rich history. Entry is free, making it a must-visit attraction in Bamberg.

Monumental cathedral with a lot of history and importance!
Built in the 13th century - to the form as we see today - it's one of the most sacred buildings in Germany, and indeed from the outside the architecture is stunning distinguishing the cathedral by four majestic towers visible from most parts of the city. Even though the cathedral was under construction I was still able to admire its beauty, I especially appreciate the detailed Prince's portal on the side of the cathedral.
From the inside it was a bit let down. Yes, seeing the horseman, the most significant work of art in the cathedral, alongside the organs and the interior was great, but nothing mind blowing - judging strictly from the design perspective, not the cultural heritage. There are simply more beautiful cathedrals around Germany. From up close I was able to see The Tomb of the Saintly Imperial couple and the horsemen, unfortunately the cathedra, papal tomb (the only place north of Alps with buried pope) and the fresco of The Second Coming of Christ at the apse were fenced, therefore not able to admire from up close in details.
There is no organized tour inside nor you can go to one of its towers (let down for me as I like seeing places from above), but you can purchase a small brochure for 1 EUR to help you navigate through the place. Be aware that opening hours may vary due to masses (during my time of visit the cathedral was closed between 12:00 and 12:30). Free entry. Visited in July 2022.

History said that it was built and founded by Henry II in the year 1004 and it was declared sacred in 1012. It burnt down twice that it took a long time to rebuild.
A magnificent and majestic cathedral I've ever seen in Bamberg that composes of 4 big towers that surround and a solemn place inside though a presence tourists can be seen.
It has a very rich history and famous cathedral in Germany.
A lot of statues inside and outside of the cathedral.
Lots of sculptures, carvings and styles (Romaneque and Gothic) are impressive and superb.
There are lots of altars and organs (1415, 1868 and 1976) that mostly built against the north wall.
We can find here the only place in Germany where the grave of Pope Clement II is buried.
The tombs of Henry II and his wife - Empress Cunigunde are buried here too.
A worthy place to visit and there was no entrance fee when I visited this cathedral.
Observed dress code when visiting this place.
According to the information, its official name is Bamberg Cathedral of St. Peter and St. George. It is also called the Kaiserdom (“Imperial Cathedral”).

What a historic building right at the center of Bamberg and close to the old rathaus. The cathedral portrays Catholic over a millennium aga and the richness it offers through history of Church for the people of Bamberg.
Monuments are nicely spaced out as the hall is large (with ongoing constructions of the podium).
There's underground sitting place unfortunately locked and out of access to visitors as of yesterday. However you'll still find enough to go round and appreciate the beauty of it's architecture or see God in the splendor of how the people of Bamberg largely perceived as Catholics.
Sure during mass one find another atmosphere to observe institution of church at service to it's members. However as visitor it's already enough to enjoy sightseeing. Nearby you'll find various attractions and city life, rose flower garden, eateries and museums. There's nothing to miss visiting this cathederal.

A marvelous medieval church with a really long history dating back to 11th century, its construction was only finished by 13th century. It is amazing to see a mixture of both Romanesque and gothic styles within the same cathedral. The four imposing church towers is a sight to admire from a distance. It has many interesting relics and an underground chapel, which makes it unique from other churches I have visited.
It is a burial tomb of Henry II and Pope Clement II, which makes it the only church to have a Papal grave in Germany. Located on a small hill top, can be reached through a small walk from the old town.

Needs a lot of work and almost doesn't have any flowers (at least it didn't in April) not much love is given to this place as it seems abandoned and run down, even though the Schlosspark could be something really amazing if some work were REALLY put into it. The café does make good Flammkuchen, I give it that. The restaurant was closed because "of the season" which was quite disappointing. The place was a let down but hopefully it can turn into something great with a little bit of work and advertisment! Good luck 🤞

The Schlosspark is a stunningly beautiful garden, especially when the rhododendren are in bloom. One part of the park is inspired by the Japanese style, while the other part - which is still being extended and worked on - features a moor and has been left to nature. You can easily spend 3 hours in this park if you explore all the hidden paths and maybe have a seat on one of the many benches, to enjoy the views. It's one of my favourite places to visit! Don't forget your camera. ;)

Beautiful residence with plenty of history. Tours are only in German, and they do offer a pamphlet in English, but not everything is covered that the guide talks about and points out. There's construction in several rooms that s supposed to last for the next 3 years. So much of the furniture is covered up. I would suggest adding an audio tour in different languages. Otherwise, it's a great experience and an amazing price! (€5 per adult and kids were free)

I would not recommend this tour for young children. This was a wonderful and informative tour. We were supposed to be on a German speaking tour (our choice due to time) with English booklets on the exhibits but because we were the only one the guide did the tour in English. The art work displayed was amazing. They are in the process of renovations (April 2019) so some exhibits could not be viewed, however they had photos of them. The run every hour and it was less than €10 for myself and my husband.

Such a nice little amusement park but we got there after 1130 and very little was open. The food places opened up after 1230 and most rides were still closed when we left at 3pm. The price is about 27 euros per person. We enjoyed it just wish more was open. They have added more since last year. I would still recommend checking it out. It is not super busy so hardly any lines for rides or concessions.

In general we had a lovely day there.
The park is not that big but offers a wide range of activities for all age groups more suited for families and children. If you are an adrenalin junky you will find a few attractions but not that a variety as in other parks.
We liked that there were food stalls and toilets everywhere and the wildlife areas to calm down a bit from the excitement. Some of the attractions seem a bit dated, though they are still fun to ride.
The new area that was opened this year (Asia themed) looked nice, but the dragon rollercoaster didn't live up to our expectations. (no real light show or exciting exhibits, could do much better!)
If you are looking for a nice family day, this will suit you fine 😉

Its a strange collection of attractions, some clearly left overs from earlier decades or second hand from other large attraction parks. But, nice atmosphere, green surroundings, not too busy. So, you pick what you like and go over and over again in the same attraction. For younger children lots of fun options. For teenagers too limited. My 13 and 15 year old enjoyed it for a couple of hours, but too few really exciting rollercoasters etc. Prices for food and drinks are high with 3 EUR for a black coffee. Zero vegan options. It's all just s bit out of date or conservative. Maybe exemplary for Bavaria?

This is a great day out for a family with attractions suitable for all age groups. The park is well maintained and the layout offers plenty of shade and diversity. This would have been five stars from me if the prices were a bit more moderate. Kids pay full price from 1.40 m size, no family tickets and on site food, drinks and ice-cream are quite expensive. I recommend big families to bring their own food and drink.

Schwäbisch Hall is a very nice City to visit, and stopping by ST Michael Church is totally worth it. There are also Restaurants and Stores in the vicinity.

What an absolutely lovely cathedral. Shows the dedication of the locals who built it over the years.

What a view! Climbing the tower is free and highly recommended. Be careful with the bells, they ring pretty loud every 15 minutes.

Beautifully restored church, with al large square in front. Many bars/restaurants in the surroundings. The city is a beautiful historic centre and has many things to see, worthwhile visiting when in the neighbourhood.

Very interesting, beautiful place to visit. Easy to see the transformation from Romanesque to Gothic and some of the chapels have Baroque decor. The view is splendid.
The Kunsthalle Würth museum is an interesting venue that houses the collection of industrialist Reinhold Würth. It seamlessly integrates medieval and contemporary architecture and showcases religious sculptures with great attention to detail. While a deep interest in religious art would enhance the experience, it remains a worthwhile encounter for everyone, even if not all information presented appeals to each individual. The museum also displays works by renowned artists such as Picasso and Rubens, making it definitely worth a visit.
It's such a nice Art Gallery, the staff is super friendly and helpful, they hay all types of resources as well for you to dive into the art and actually understand a bit more. It has a small cafe too that is very nice.

It is quite interesting to walk through and to see the perfection of religious sculptures.
One must be extraordinarily interested in religious depictings to stay for a longer while, but still it is a good encounter for everyone, even though not all the information given might be appealing for everyone

Great sharing. Thanks to Wurth for providing this kind of earning to city. But at least you need to know few basics about art to understand the concept :) Maybe I have only got the 10 percent of the master pieces :)

A very nice museum in Schwäbisch Hall. They also have a small cafe with delicious cakes. At the entrance there's a shop where you can buy some little things. We would come again.

Kunsthalle Würth is a wonderful place. Let's start from outside. From above you can see Schwäbisch Hall and the surrounding. Than there i a gift shop at the entrance, it's not expensive but, yes there is a but, there are so many beautiful art gifts so you will need some amount of money. You have time to decide what to buy in the coffee shop which is on the same floor. And about the gallery. I have seen a few exhibition in Kunsthalle Würth, and that I will not describe. The Art you need to feel, same as this place.

The museum has some good paintings, pictures and few sculpture. Its a good place to visit for art lovers and you could spend 2 to 3 hours easily. Plus it doesn't have any entry tickets.
