Långe Erik, an 1840s limestone lighthouse located on Öland island's northern coast in Sweden, boasts a balcony offering breathtaking views of the area. A small village was built around the lighthouse to enable keepers to operate it, complete with a permanent teacher for children's education. The surrounding area is stunning and the architecture of the lighthouse is impressive. Långe Erik served as a necessary beacon for ships navigating through tumultuous seas during stormy weather conditions.
Great views, easy climb to the top and some interesting history to read.
Derek Olander — Google review
The lighthouse itself is very pretty and the view is fantastic. There are good parking possibilities for both bikes and cars.
The wait to get in was understandably kind of long as we visited in week 29, the most common vacation week in Sweden. However it was a tad too difficult to understand where to buy tickets, and the price was double that on the Öland tourism website. Price for an adult in July 2023 was 60 sek.
Ella Tingström — Google review
Nice little island with a lighttower and a little trail, it's also the notherns part of Öland.

From our visit in mid-August 2020. Covid restrictions which gave a little longer waiting time, but no problem. Wonderful day and equal weather so it was just to enjoy the views. Beautiful nature with the sea fields around, but miss something to eat, which would give five stars.

Did you know that they built a (really) small village around the lighthouse so that the lighthouse keepers should be able to keep operating it? They even had a permanent living teacher here for the kids, cause in Sweden everyone has right to education. Fascinating!
The view is nice and all the pictures that you take come out stunning!
Last time we were there it was really blowing and the sea was ferocious, your really understand why a lighthouse was needed there...
Vasilis Stark — Google review
They sell ice cream. Coffeemaker was broken. 10 sek for using the toilet.

Nice lighthouse with great views of North Oland Island
Darasingh Hooda — Google review
Great architecture. The area around the lighthouse is beautiful.
Anas Alsayed — Google review
Nice place. But closed saturdays. Would have been nice to be able to go up the stairs to the lighthouse.
What an experience! We drove with a little train to the mooses. We fed and petted all the mooses. Cool!
Alina Timmerman — Google review
Great experience for me and my kids. Got to sit om the roof of a wagon, pulled by a tractor through the large enclosure. They had 4 'rides' per day. Reserve tickets ahead of time.
We got to Handfeed the many moose from the roof with potato slices. Got very very close to them.
The moose were certainly 'tamed' and not 'wild' but as wild animals in captivity goes I got the impression they were well cared for, had good and suitable living conditions, and the handlers had a genuine respect and love for the big animals.
The handlers gave us good information about the animals in English, easy to understand instructions.
While we were many on the ride, the handlers were great at making sure we all got a chance to 'meet' the moose close up.
Afterwards we used one of the open campfires and tents to grill sausages, they provided the ketchup from dispensers.
A good souvenir shop was available.
Toilet and restroom conditions were the only thing lacking, with only chemical toilets available (I imagine due to the huge investment it would be at the farm to establish - so I'd rather they focus on the animal care anyway).
I suspect it isnt very handicap suitable if in wheelchair, although I did not look into it.
T. Nysted — Google review
Definitely worth the visit. Feeding and kissing a moose is unlike any experience you e encountered.
Mark Capriotti — Google review
Amazing and beautiful experience. It is must visit for family, childrens do enjoy feeding Älg (Moose). There is play area and more farm animal for children to enjoy.
Special thanks to people who take care of the park. The guided tour in English with fabulous speech that has humor and information. Appreciate all the support through out safari experience.
As we know they are planning to expand the farm and park so second tour is already planned.
Thank you Virum Älgpark team. 🙏
prasann desai — Google review
Absolutely amazing experience. I was terrified at first, since I'm Canadian and we usually fear moose since they like to wander into roadways and cause problems. But the moose here were adorable, and real hungry for potatoes. Super friendly animals, and the staff were wonderful. Will definitely return if I'm ever back in the area.
Savana Thompson — Google review
It was amazing!
The moose come so close.
And you can touch and feed them. They are really friendly and don’t bite, if you do, what the guide says.
The guides are so good, treating the moose with respect and friendlyness.
The park is lovely, the moose can hide, if they don’t want to come. There is a lake for them as well.
The souvenir shop is lovely and they have sausages and ice.
Look at the days and safari times. It is not open every day. :-)
It was all in all a wonderful experience! And I am a critical person. ;-)
If it would be possible I would give 6 stars! :-)
Rebecca Klee — Google review
11/10 experience. As someone who doesn’t come from a place where moose are popular, the tour was something very special. I would highly recommend. Kissing a moose was fun too. The staff is very kind, the gift shop has something for everyone, and it didn’t feel super touristy.
Niko Scharnowski — Google review
A really nice and remote farm which has moose, deers and sheep! ❤️
In the ‘Moose Safari’ you get to feed moose, pet them and even kiss them! Really recommend this place for a true swedish experience! 😄
Andreea C — Google review
Great place, funny introduction. Nice Moose. We where ablr to feed them, as they came very close.
Marc Baeuerle — Google review
This requires some effort to get there and get there at a fixed hour. You get on a trains of wagons pulled by a tractor. You can have a sausage before or after. On the wagon it is possible to sit on top or regularly inside, each position with advantages and disadvantages. The mooses will come to eat potatoes from your hands, then you watch the feeding time. The mooses have been accustomed to people since calves, so a bit unnatural, they are like pets for this show.
Cristi — Google review
Great experience! A fantastic tour where you're allowed to get close to the King of the forest and even feed them from your hands. Very helpful staff. Can really recommend this if you'd want to do something different.
Borgholm Castle, the largest ruined castle in Northern Europe, is located just south of town. Dating back to the 17th century, it was a Baroque castle that was burnt and abandoned early in the 18th century after serving as a dyeworks. Despite being ruined, guided tours are offered along with an event program including summer concerts and children's activities at the nearby nature reserve.
This castle was a lot more entertaining than I expected. Many different views, nooks and crannies to explore. There are 3 floors currently open to the public with their own unique areas and architectural designs. There was also an art gallery in the basement /main floor but the main attraction was definitely the courtyard. Would def recommend visiting if you are in the area! If you have kids, this is an amazing place for them to roam and have fun but be aware of certain unsafe and slippery areas.
Admission to enter is a bit pricey (100kr) and they have a souvenir shop as well on the premises. You can roam around the castle from the outside for free though.
Lastly, there are two parking lots. 1st one is usually full from the entrance, but the 2nd one has a nice hidden scenic back path through the cows and pasture.

Really beautiful place with great views.
My daughter loved chasing eggs around the castle.
Park close to the castle when it’s off season, it’s easier and cheaper since it’s for free.

Great place to visit with kids, great exhibition, free parking. Playground inside with picnic tables. Expect to spend not less than two hours there. Worth every Krona.

It was a truly astonishing castle to see. gorgeous castle on a beautiful day. I could have spent the whole day here because there is so much to see and to take in.
Kevin Mallon — Google review
Incredible view from everywhere around the castle. Finely placed information boards containing lots of information.
Some activities are on hold because of covid but all in all a pleasant experience.
I'll give 5 stars when the castle is reconstructed.
James Di — Google review
Enormous Castle, very big area. They have a free "adventure" for kids inside, which gives some tasks to be a soldier. If the kids pass all tasks, they can a "real" knight and defender of Slot Borgholm
Herr BO — Google review
The castle is a given attraction in Borgholm, there is a very pleasant walk from the Strand hotel and marina through the forest park. The cafe by the castle has nice coffee and sandwiches as well as pizza.
Thomas Wahlgren — Google review
The castle ruins are beautiful and the view is gorgeous from the second story. You have to walk carefully since the ground is uneven. You can bring your dog as long as you keep it on a leash. I was unlucky and visited the day after they'd ended their guided tours for the summer. Luckily they have an app where you can download a guided tour, listening to short snippets by different numbers in the castle. This is where I have to give fewer stars because there's a discrepancy between where the numbers are placed in real life and on the map in the app, making it very hard to find some of the spots. And they're supposed to be marked by red flags but not all of the numbers are. Eventually, after running around trying to find the numbers, I gave up.
It's still worth a visit if you enjoy old castle ruins and are in the neighborhood. If you like me prefer to have a guide I recommend you go here during high season when there are actual guided tours.
Oh, also. The toilets outside of the entry cost 10 sek to visit. (I have strong opinions about that.) If you are planning to go inside the ruins, hold it in and use the free toilets inside instead.
Helena Zeegers — Google review
My visit to Borgholm castle was truly unique in the purest sense ever. I was all alone and as such had the joy of exploring every corner and crevasse of this vast castle all in my own sweet time. And if ever there was a castle to explore! Impressive restoration and preservation made it possible to go everywhere you'd wish. See if you can find the naturally made markings on the wall: slaughtered pig hanging, hen with one foot and the infamous dog eating a sausage. They had made some fun gimmicks to take selfies on which I couldn't resist. In every sense of the word an unique experience
Rasmus Nordgaard — Google review
A historical castle with beautiful view. A great place for weddings. There are two exhibitions, one for the castle and one for the rock concerts held here. Make sure you check both out.

Much larger in person than I first realized. It is very beautiful in a “it burned down, sadly” sort of way. It really pops out of the surrounding scenery. Appears in a Roxette music video from a concert she did there in the ruins.

What a wonderful gift of her father to Queen Victoria. Great fun to stroll the gardens opened generally to the public now. Notice all the statues and their details 😀.

Beautiful place! We watched the sunset, in the “throne room” on the 1st floor. Highly recommended! Also The Ark played, hence our visit. Pretty cool. Also the support band PRISMA was amaaaaazing..! Go listen!! 🤯
Kalmar Castle is a seaside palace built in the 16th century on the site of a 12th-century castle. It boasts fairy-tale-like turrets, a drawbridge, and secret passages that add to its charm. The castle has exhibitions that showcase its 800-year history, including its role as an important building in the land at one time. Visitors are free to explore the castle on their own or take part in guided tours included in their admission fee.
Great place to enjoy your weekend. The castle faces the Baltic Sea and offers a sense of tranquility to anyone who visits the area. There is a lovely restaurant inside that offers lovely treats for fika.
Ann Rava — Google review
It’s one of the best castles in south of Sweden. Good part is, they have guides included in tickets itself. The guides are hired by castle and they wear ancient clothes belonging to that time and look really pretty. Guides don’t rush and explain all the things which are right now present and which were destroyed by time. Except castle, there is not much in Kalmar city.
shashank wadje — Google review
Very beautiful and historically significant. If you’re interested in the Kalmar union, it’s especially interesting.
My daughter loved the treasure hunt around the castle.
The Monet exhibition was very beautiful as well.
I absolutely recommend.

The perfect place to find out about the history of Kalmar, to contemplate at a fort overlooking the Baltic Sea, around 12 am the February sun is like at the picture🌊☀️🏰 royal
Natalia Mroczek (DelNiebla) — Google review
A very nice big castle, lots of things on display, lots of entertainment. Interesting for both children and adults. You can take a walk with your dog.
Ingridele Ardaviciene — Google review
While the castle itself is a splendid sight with its rich history and captivating architecture, the downside is the mandatory entry fee of 100kr, even if you only intend to dine at their restaurant or browse through the store. It's disheartening that visitors are compelled to pay for entry regardless of their interests, adding an unexpected cost to what should be a simple visit. Despite this, if you're willing to overlook the entrance fee policy, the castle offers a unique and picturesque experience.
Emina Dervisevic — Google review
I went there twice 9 years apart. Great views and scope for good walks. Earlier i remember seeing Ölandsbron but due to new buildings I couldnt see them.
Koushik Madapati — Google review
Really good exhibition of the Swedish Kings. Perfect for kids. The cost starts after the shop. So feel free to look around on the wall surrounding the castle. Inside was the most impressive digital Monet exhibition. Definitely recommend to go there.
Björn Andersson — Google review
Very much recommended! At the day we visit… today… there were many cool activities for kids of various ages! The Monet & Friends visual experience is also a nice thing going on during August/23.
Julian Modro — Google review
The entry fee was around 180 SEK. It is a nice place but would definitely recommend having a lot of time in hand if you are going to spend this much money. When I went there the weather was bad but apart from that it was a good experience.

It's really interesting. The staff dressed in Tudor clothes. Information panels in Swedish and English. Only half an hour to spare, so they let us in for half price. Models of the castle at different times in history.
Kim Bull — Google review
Very nice castle. Nice tour, also in english. A lot of kids animation, there are people dressed in original clothes and knight fights in a small arena. A visit will take about 2 hours, maybe more if you want...

Kalmar is one of the most enigmatic castles to visit. Much of the beauty is in the natural surroundings. The castle faces the Baltic sea. The water keeps it calm & dreamy. From the parking area, you first walk through a grave site that feels more like an immaculate garden with very tall trees. Even the courtyard inside the castle was vibrant & charming. Overall, every angle of this place is picturesque. It wasn't as touristy as expected. Spend a day here & enjoy the peace.
Towering lighthouse constructed in 1785, open in summertime for visitors to ascend.
Impressive. Beautiful view over the south end of Öland.

Beautiful lighthouse at the southernmost point of Öland. A landmark and almost a must-see if you’re nearby.
There’s also a restaurant onsite as well as a birdwatching house. Toilets available too.

If you are interested in birds watching or just want to explore beautiful island of Öland this is your place. During the season you can get guided tours around or enjoy the local restaurant. Highly recommended..,

Place is located in a natural reserve in which you can observe birds and seals. Definitely a must see if you are in Oland. Wonderful landscape and animal life.
Pascal Kahlig — Google review
Amazing location and doubly more so for anyone interested in birds. We've been there both on a sunny/windy day and a rainy/windy day and both occasions were nice. I recommend the climb up the light house, the view is well worth the climb.
Account Collection — Google review
The tallest lighthouse in Sweden: 41,6 m, 197 steps to the top, built in 1785. You can climb up to see the interior and have great views from the top: the southern tip of Öland, cows and sheep roaming freely, long stone walls, a lot of clear space. This destination is extremely popular for birdwatching.
Current visiting fee is 50 SEK (children 20 SEK). Tickets are sold in Naturum next to the lighthouse or in the lighthouse (cash only).

We really enjoyed walking around the area and going up the lighthouse. My kids enjoyed looking at the birds, seals and sheep. The restaurant was good too, slightly pricey but worth it
Samantha Palm — Google review
The tallest lighthouse in Sweden from which you can admire variety of birds. It's also hugely popular with birdwatchers. The place itself is very peaceful with not many visitors, there were no queues (middle of August). So, if you're into nature and landscapes it's worth visiting.
?ukasz Rumi?ski — Google review
The place was just amazing with all that touch of the rough sea and land an one could also feel it both on the ground but also at the high of the sea gulls !
Kai L?f — Google review
Fantastic nature reserve which is home to Sweden's tallest lighthouse - the 197 steps are worth the climb for a unique view.
Stephen Flannery — Google review
It's one of our favourite places to walk in nature among the birds. We have been regular visitors to Långe Jan and the bird sanctuary for the last 1.5 years. Långe Jan is Sweden's tallest lighthouse. The view from the top is breathtaking.
The lighthouse is only open during the summer and autumn (check the exact timings on their website). They have an entrance ticket that can be bought on the spot. The entrance opens at every hour.
There's free parking and free toilets on the premises. They also have a bird museum, a small souvenir shop and a restaurant. Parking is open around the year whereas other facilities are open only during their opening time of the year.
You can walk around the premises, on marked trails in the forest, and by the sea. Be sure to look at the map so as not to walk to the prohibited areas or hunting areas. The reserve also serves as a grazing area for cows and sheep.
You can easily spot different species of birds, deers, rabbits, and seals. I recommend carrying decent binoculars to experience the surrounding beauty.

great place where, as I thought, you can buy everything but☺️... we were looking for decent shoes (altra, la sportiva, dynafit, Salewa, Salomon, on running, Adidas terrex, or some kinda of good hiking or running shoes and its nothing. ) But a pleasant shopping center where there is a pizzeria and a cafe, a lot of shops where you will definitely spend some time.
Pattrriot Gamer — Google review
We travelled from denmark to this outlet to see if we can get some good deals. Seeing from the name “outlets” you might think that you could get good prices. But, I was disappointed to see that prices were same as you can get elsewhere. Plus, the staff in one of the shop were a old lady who was racist and rude. While we were looking around to find a jacket, she asked security guy to follow us around to watch every move we make, as if we were the shoplifters. Not visiting here again.

Over rated with high prices. It used to be a highlight to visit and shop here but the charm and unique atmosphere is gone. Just another high priced outlet set of shops. Plenty of parking.
The Marinmuseum is a contemporary and family-friendly waterfront museum that showcases the history of the Swedish navy with an emphasis on naval vessels. The museum features exhibits such as a battle deck reconstruction, an impressive collection of figureheads, model boats, and real-life warships including HMS Vastervik and Swedens royal sloop. The highlight of the museum is its submarine exhibition which includes an underwater tunnel showcasing a wreck. There is also a restaurant serving delicious meals at reasonable prices.
Interesting muzeum presenting the history of Swedish navy in really attractive way. And totally free!
The only thing that needs imrovement is turning off light or just darkening it in the underwater section. Then, the wreck would be more visible.
Adrian Peplak — Google review
Very informative and interesting spot. A family adventure. Be there before 14.00 can be recommended as there are actions for kids that end at 15.00. The wrak tunnel was disappointing as too dirty to see anything but green water.
Andrea Hahn — Google review
Absolutely adorable place, the best maritime museum I’ve ever visited. The most interesting parts are definitely the underwater route where you can see real ship wrecks from XVIII century! And of course you can enter the real submarine! The museum would be a good place for kids too, coz there are things they can touch (which is amazing, right?!) and there’s a great playground inside.
Also consider eating at bistro downstairs: good Swedish food on budget.
The one improvement I’d suggest is the mobile app: it’d be great if audio files open automatically when you approach the next stop. Some files are a bit too long, and when you visit the museum with kids you can barely spend few minutes next to each stand.
Valeriya Molenda — Google review
Love the space and curations there! Atmosphere is also nice esp. in the nighttime and it’s free! You cannot cannot go there if you are in KKN

Very interesting and large museum. Also the entire museum is floating on the sea, and its quite an experience to go in the little tunnels they have that go underwater. They also have a food section which is kind of bland in my opinion. Overall 8/10, its worth to go there.

Very nice marine museum, with 2 real submarines (one can be seen inside). Most expositions are described in Swedish and English, although there are place, where only Swedish description is available. You can download audio guide app in several languages (I've not tested this option).
Marek Piela — Google review
Wonderful, wonderful place! I honestly didn't expect this museum to be so HUGE! You really need a few hours to see everything and take it all in. There's an authentic submarine that you can visit, there's also a part in the museum that allows you to go under the sea level and see an authentic shipwreck and if you're lucky, spot some sea critters (I've seen some very curious fish :D). The museum is filled with history and stories, you can experience by yourself how it is to row a huge ship or sit down and learn how to tie a different types of knots. I can't recommend it enough! It is definitely worth visiting!
Gabriel Cz — Google review
This museum is a best place, not only to know about naval history but to experience the same. You can go in to a submarine. The place has some working models for kids to play around and teach how submarine works. The buffet served is very good and not included in the entry ticket. Entry is also free during Wednesdays. You also can enjoy some good views around the museum.
Nandha kumar — Google review
The museum tells stories in every possible way, it’s super entertaining, interactive, and full of information that will make you understand and enjoy Swedish naval history. It’s friendly for the whole family, from children to adults. I think it’s useful to arrive early and start with the submarines, so you will have time for the rest including visiting the centre of Karlskrona for a farewell ice cream.

Was here prior to departure time of the Stena Line ferry. An hour before the museum closing time was well spent as we were able to come inside the submarine. My son liked it so much!

Very big and well made. They have two submarines from cold war. One can go inside Neptune, it's amazing to see how the life looks like inside the submarine. A nice walk through the history of Swedish Navy.

Slightly interactive, with exhibitions on a few floors. The full-scale submarine wins the show.
The world's first IKEA Museum is located in Almhult, occupying the site of the first IKEA store. The museum showcases a range of hands-on exhibits, vintage catalogues, and furniture that narrate the journey of Ingvar Kampar from vision to manifestation. It is an ideal destination for design enthusiasts, aspiring entrepreneurs and those who love IKEA products. The displays are cool and retro with a product-rich environment that mimics the brand's famous layout.
This was fantastic. We travelled from Australia so definitely had to put this on our ‘to do’ list. It was so interesting seeing the origins of where IKEA came from. Some fun interactive stuff as well as lots of interesting reading. We spent nearly 2 and a half hours in the museum. Highly recommend.

Interesting temporary and permanent exhibitions about IKEAs history, its founder, Design Democracy, Swedish households and early challenges and more.
Different media and designs are being presented. There's a photo setup to take pictures like in an IKEA catalogue and some rooms that come upside down from the ceiling. There's a store with some nice brand souvenirs.
The restaurant is great, very inexpensive with free hot and cold drinks and laid our for kids.

I’m not Swedish but I enjoyed this place. My Swedish friend was more familiar with exhibits. I didn’t. Well, I have been aware of IKEA since late 90s.
Coffe and water included with the ticket (60 SEK).
After the museum we sat down and had a bite. I took herrings and meatballs. Famous meatballs. Heaven in my mouth.
The museum is based in the first ever ikea store opened in 1958. In 2012 they moved the store nearby and opened a museum 4 years later.

Interesting museum to visit, it costs only 60 kr, including free tea/coffee at the restaurant. The building consists of 3 floors full of informative history and interactive activities. Highly recommended to come with family, children can also be part of the games they provided. Food on the restaurant also different from the normal IKEA restaurant. They have herring menu!

Definitely a must-see place in Sweden. The history section about the company and how it was changing might have been prepared better. I miss a section when they could have showed how a product developed over the years, from metal, through plastic to wooden structure. The guide through the decades should have been one after the other but you can move from 50s to 90s directly.
Michał Lewinski — Google review
Makes for a nice visit to kill some time, especially for the low price! Exhibitions were mixed static and interactive but plenty to do and see, even for children. We had the most fun with the set up that allowed you to shoot and print your own copy of the IKEA catalogue cover.
Staff very pleasant and accommodating and free unlimited tea, coffee, water and lemonade during our visit.

I really enjoyed the experience of visiting the IKEA Museum, even if some of the installations themselves were a bit corporate. There is a fascinating history to the company and modern Sweden which is legibly interpreted. Canteen is a highlight top of course!

Fun. Also food is really good. (The menu is different from the standard fare. So thats fun). Go go go (but if you have some time, wait till May 2023, as parts of the current museum is under renovation)

perfect size, i feel like. I would've loved to see even more vintage ikea furniture. A lot of parts in the museum are interactive, which makes it fun. The restaurant is lovely with a lot of options.

Went here with my husband. Had food in the restaurant and then went to see the exhibits. There weren’t too many people so that was nice. They have some interactive activities you can do which are fun. We learned a lot that we didn’t know about and enjoyed our visit there. If any of our friends comes to visit and we are in the area I think we would take them to see it.
The gift shop was also nice and had good prices of course. We bought somethings there.

I visited IKEA museum for the third time and this year the exhibitions are much more interactive. You see how deep is the IKEA concept including many important aspects like sustainability, responsible sourcing and many more. In this visit, I liked Our Roots exhibition the most. Here you can experience village life like moving a stone, weaving or making a butter.

It was exciting to watch the evolution of not only household furnishings but also everday essentials. And having to dine at the restaurant after the detour was refreshing. Glad that I could get cost effective baby food👌👌.
It feels great living at the Home of IKEA

Great place, you can spend a few hours in there quite easily. Also a really good gift shop and restaurant, where you can of course get the iconic meatballs. Definitely worth a visit!

It was really great to be in the IKEA’s place of origin. Also it is very evident throughout the museum how IKEA transformed from good old days to recent times in terms of designing their products. Should visit this museum of iconic Swedish brand IKEA if you have enough time.

I visted in augeat and as a diehard ikea fan i must say i was losing my mind. it was so perfect in every way and i might be biased but i mean the food was great, the atmosphere was great, the employes were very friendly, the gift shop was amazing, to add on to an already amazing place there were several other ikea buildings about five ish minutes walk from it, honestly there was nothing i could find flaw in and even thought ive seen some bad reveiws for the place ( that i disagree with) i must say that i highly recommend you add ikea museum to your sweden itinerary.

I was expecting more home furnishing and a bit different concept, but for any IKEA fan it's a must-see anyway. Knowing that this is the place where Ingvar opened his first store is overwhelming. Great experience! :) (And the museum merch is must-have, so prepare your wallet 🤗)
Wonderful nature preserve in Kristianstad Sweden. Family had a surprise reunion of all the relatives. Loved the views. Had dinner there and it was great.

If you are passing through Kristianstad in the south of Sweden, don't miss the a walk along the nature reserve just outside town. It is centric around the water and it's importance for the area. The area has a very rich bird and plant habitat

Self-driven & mini-train trips through a forest wildlife park home to native moose & American bison.
Our holiday home in Småland is not far from Markaryd, but we only managed to visit the park last summer.
Our conclusion: Absolutely recommendable!
Very nice and well-kept area and absolutely suitable for adults and children. There is also a nice café, restaurant and souvenir shop.
Christian G?rgen — Google review
Well guided safari, several moose that come to the car to be petted. Great experience for kids and adults alike. I would recommend to go with their train instead of the personal car, so the kids can touch the animals and pet them.
There are male, female and young moose as well as 🦬. It was a very adventurous morning for the whole family.
It was pretty crowded...
Nice shop, restaurant and Cafe.
There's a nice playground and picnic area with a grill.
janun biber — Google review
The company is professionally designed. Everything is well organised. The staff is very friendly and there is enough space in the car park and the restaurant. We were there in the pre-season and found that the elk area was already too busy. The course is probably one big traffic jam. Everything is actually well done. But it lacks a bit of soul and seems to have lost the focus on the moose.
G?nter Richter — Google review
The safari was a great visit for all. We were travelling across the country with our kids hockey team and they gave a special tour for us as they were meant to be closed on that day.
All of the kids LOVED the train ride and feeding both the moose and bison. And it seems some of the bison were also quite excited we were there too! 😆
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and explained everything so the kids could understand.
Very much appreciated and very recommended if you are in the area.

Great place for a trip. You can visit by your car or take a ride with a train. It needed some time to make the Moose get up and come up closer but it was totally worth it!

Very nice moose and bison park. A large enclosure for the animals. I would recommend taking the guided tour in the train. The guide was very good and enthousiastic, I believe his name was Jan. In the train they also give you carrots and branches to feed the animals, petting the moose is also possible. Afterwards it is possible the eat a nice moose hot dog. Definitely worth while visiting!

I don't know if we where lucky but we arrived on a saturday around 16:00 and the place was almost empty.
We drove with our car through the park, you drive on a small zig-zag road through the wood and it did not take long untill we saw the first Moose 🫎.
Very relaxing and pleasant way to see some very unique animals.
Mikael Lundqvist — Google review
Great little safari. We stopped on the way between Malmo and Jonkoping and had a great time. There’s also a small goat petting area with super sweet Pygmy goats.
We did the safari with our own car but I would recommend you take the little train, it’s a few crowns more but you get handed some leaves to feed the animals which come up to the train, and you can even pet them (none of this is possible from your own car).
Natalia Gonzalez — Google review
Very enjoyable! I was able to pet and even feed several moose and bison and learn more about their behavior.
Joey Mead — Google review
In case you don't get a chance to spot moose in the wild, this is the place to go to see some. The tour through the park can be either by train or in your own car, which allows you to make as many laps as you prefer. It's really great for visitors that almost every place in the park can be reached and seen, but for the animals it's probably not, since the overall area is quite small, don't get tricked by the "3 kilometer" tour.
In theory, you can drive through the park at your own pace and stop whereever and as long as you want, but there are only a few places where the road allows cars to pass each other, so you'll be in a hurry almost all the time as long as there are other visitors or the train driving through the park. This is better in the bison valley since the road is much wider there, but the more spectacular experience are definitely the moose.

A nice place for resting when we were on the way from kivik to Stockholm. Here we have restaurants, cafe, souvenir shop, kid play ground and safari. I recommend waffles here
duc mai — Google review
We took 2 rounds with our car in the safari. It was around 1.30 pm. In the first round all moose were just sitting. In the second round two moose were standing up because people in the train were feeding the moose, then the moose sniffed on every car passing by. We really liked the experience!

Same great experience during påsk 2024.
Unique experience to meet Swedish Elk(Moose) and petting them in summer 2020.
Protected area that you can drive by your own car (on your own risk since animals are free and can make scratches on your car) or take tram going around.
I love it since animals where free and choose to come and say hello to you or just lay down and have rest.
Nost so expensive but check the rate on the website.
It has a nice resturant.
Most facilities were accessible with stroller and wheelchair.

One of the best experiences you can have in southern sweden! The park visit is very cheap, just 170 sek per person, and it is definitely worth it! It is possible to have a close contact with wonderful elks and american bisons, in a beautiful forest. If you don't have a car, for 200 sek it is possible to visit the park on a little train, which will give you the possibility to feed the animals too. Plus, visiting it in september, you can also see some elk calfs!
Giovanni Mauri — Google review
Great informative safari. Recommend going on n the train instead of driving yourself as you get lots of information from the guide, get to feed the moose and pet them, all things you don’t get to do when you drive yourself. Of course they are wild animals so you never know how they behave but the guide knows where to find them. There are also bison and goats.
Karl Lonn — Google review
Our only opportunity to see moose during our trip to Sweden. The park was really crowded. Cars had to queue and wait whenever the train stopped before them. The restaurant was excellent though. We had the most delicious köttbullar accompanied by soft and creamy potato mash, crunchy cucumber salad and savoury lingonberry sauce.

Great place for a fun day out with kids.
You will certainly see the mooses and bisons.
I would recommend to take the train instead of own car. Guides are very engaging and tell a lot of nice stories, facts etc.

You could drive with your own car but I myself recommend you to go with the train from the zoo itself, the guide with you explained each of the inhabitants and if you’re lucky enough you can pet and feed them , don’t forget to try their waffles- fair price - absolutely worth each pennies you’ve spent
Kivik Cider factory is a must-visit destination in Kivik, offering a comprehensive experience for visitors. The facility includes a small museum, an expansive shop with various apple-based products, and an orchard featuring labeled apple trees. It was a pleasant visit. It is very interesting to learn about this small company making apple must and cider from 4 generations.
There is a small museum about how apples juice was made in the past and how it is made nowadays.
There is also a little park with hammocks to relax.

One of the best places to visit in Kivik, if not the best. This factory produces its own apple cider and other related products. As a visitor, you can walk around the apple trees and learn about the production of the cider as well as having a tour inside a simulation of the factory. There's also a store where they sell all of their products. The place is suitable for families.

Stenshuvud's National Park is a serene sanctuary where lush deciduous forests meet pristine white-sand beaches, offering an idyllic setting for swimming, hiking, and picnicking. Situated in Osterlen, the park provides breathtaking panoramic views of the coast and surrounding landscapes. While planning is essential due to the vast area and limited amenities, visitors can enjoy leisurely walks through beautiful woodlands, take in stunning viewpoints, and relax on the sandy beach.
Beautiful place, accessible for everyone. Perfect for beach goes, nature lovers and seasoned hikers. Amazing in al seasons.
The water is cold. Like very cold, even in summer. Note that dogs are not allowed on the main beach in summer.

This is a truly stunning spot in Österlen, giving a great overview over the coast and the surroundings.
Since the entire area is vast, some planning is required to figure out what path to take and where the restrooms might be. There are no amenities close by and you should plan accordingly.
Depending on the time of year it can also get chilly and windy at the top. A windbreaker is recommended during fall.

I think one of the loveliest place in Scandinavia. The beach was quite empty for a weekend and the nature trial was refreshing. 10/10 will come back… there is ample car parking as well.
Zoo with naturalistic enclosures housing Nordic animals & a petting zoo, play areas & water slides.
Was pleasantly surprised! Specially that we got to see the dinosaur exhibition.
The place is well organized for kids’ adventures. There are Nordic animals too, they have quite large habitats and show up when they show up and I actually like that. Kids can really enjoy the place and the dinosaurs were way more than expected- real size reproductions/ they seemed so real.

A wonderful experience. Lots to do with your children. Both educational and with interesting playgrounds. Unfortunately the weather was too good. Most of the animals was relaxing in the shadow, where i could not see. them.Furthermore there was a 350 m long swaying suspension bridge with wiew over the wood. The dinosaur park was also good.

Nice place for families with younger children. Facilities are good and the entire park is contact free.
There are camping option that must be booked in advance. Pre booking of tickets is recommended.
There are some eating options available in the park but only a few are open due to pandemic.
You can bring your own food and barbecue options are available as well.
A word of caution - not all animals show up easily, especially for small children, they may not be able to locate them.

Very expensive ticket if you buy less than 2 weeks ahead, in season, on weekend : 30 euros per person, including children. Parking another 4.5 euros, plus a lot of other ways to get money off the visitor. Very crowded on weekends. The area is huge and has many attractions, but if it is crowded, you cannot benefit. Goats welcome you as you enter. Using a toilet the water tank had no pressure, it was smelly. The animals and their habitats are nice, but not comparable to a big city zoo. There is a Dino park as well and many workshop places. Paths at tree level are pleasant to cross and give nice views. More English panels required. Not worth it if you stay under 2 hours probably.

Huge territory. Skånes djurpark is much more than just a zoo. It is a whole experience with many many activities for both children and adults. Worth the money.

Perfect place for outdoor activities. You can easily keep your kids busy. We had a great day and kids were very happy. They have restricted numbers of visitors due to corona virus. Thanks to park authorities for nice management. Love the place and definitely visit again.

Totally recommend. It's a zoo but it's also a giant nature reserve. The animals seem to have really good conditions and live in their natural habitat. It's an opportunity to experience spices like wolverine, bison, bear and moose. One can bring their own picnic basket or grill ,or better yet taste the food at the local restaurant, not bad at all. Make sure you download the weiq app in advance , makes ordering easier.

It was our second visit, the last time was 2021. I would love to give 5 stars, however because of the loud music from the dinosaur part, I had to take one star away.
All the other things in the park are awesome! We enjoyed every little bit, we saw almost every animal and we will be back as well! A definite recommendation to familys and couples or singles.
In 2021 we enjoyed the silence in the park and only hearing the animals around you. Especially during mating time. Now it was also paired with the sounds from the dinosaurs and it was distracting. Actually, really annoying.
We are childless, but I can imagine that it is a great experience for the kids, the dinosaurs. I just wish it would be more in the background (soundwise).

Very nice zoo with Nordic animals. Overnight stay is really recommended for the evening walk and feeding when the park is closed and silent (with animals being more visible and active). Don't expect much of for the food 🌭🍔, even though the free sodas and ice-cream makes up for some of it. Overall very positively surprised about the overall experience. Have tried similar in other zoos, and even though the animals might not be as exotic, it's still one of the best zoo experiences I've had.

Nice place to spend a day with kids and family. But ticket prices are quite high. Got to see few domestic and wild animals, along with Dinosaur land which was really exciting. We bought tickets online in advance, i think offline purchasing is bit expensive. One easily takes 3 to 4 hours to cover the whole park. There is a small beach also in the park which can be easily located with the map they provide you. Overall an average experience.

Ales stenar is a fascinating and secluded attraction in Skane, Sweden. It consists of a 1400-year-old ship-shaped monument constructed from 59 large stones perched on a hill by the sea. This impressive setting is Sweden's largest stone-ship formation and can be reached via bus from Ystad or by foot after visiting Valleberga kyrka. Guided tours are available through Ystad's tourist office.
Truly a sight to see. Monuments are very unique and thought provoking. The scenery over the cliffs are amazing. During off season do not expect any food or facilities open near by.

It is a place full of beauty. Nature and knowledge together. I was thinking about that population that bring the rocks. They created a calendar. I imagine the difficulty because it would be hard even today. Visit ales stenar is be part of science and humans history. Read about before. Reserve time to enjoy the view. During summer you can buy lunch before go up, in winter time almost every restaurant is closed. If you visit in the cold season bring water/coffee and small snack.

In January month, I decided to spend the weekend leading up to my birthday at Ales Stenar, a couple of cold winter days with snow and freezing winds that turned out to be an exceptional experience for me and my son of six years old.
The day we went uphill to see these ancient monoliths, we were blessed with a fantastic sunny weather, so we also explored the surrounding area that offered an array of stunning vistas and easy walking paths.
I definitely recommend a visit to this site because it makes you wonder and admire the mysteries and incredible achievements of ancient civilisations on this part of the Planet.

A nice zoo located in a nice part of Skane. A few dozen large animals as well as a tiny terrarium. Not too many predators. Servals and alligators being the main ones.
Going around the whole park won’t take you more than an hour, even if you spend a few minutes in each location.
While you’ll see most animals from distance, there are petting opportunities. Goats, mini pigs and even emus if you’re lucky.
Overall a nice place to spend an hour or so with kids.

Very nice zoo, perfect for toddler (below 5) because it is not super big size zoo yet its enough for them to see zebra, monkey, sheep, cow, pig, chicken (basic animals). Riding a pony its a plus too! It cost 30sek (cash)/round. There’s also some playground, and cafe.
Our complaint is only that the outdoor cafe area flooring is made from small stones which was quite irritated because not only its hard to push our stroller. The small kids are busy playing the stones (playing also meaning throwing the stones everywhere). Photo cafe area: with a small cart

Today I went on a walk around Lund, Sweden, to discover what was intriguing. The Botanical Garden was one of the places I visited. This Botanical Garden is located in the middle of Lund and is a popular place for people to walk, exercise, and play. Despite the fact that it was winter at the time of my visit and the trees were not in bloom, it was a stunning sight to behold. Lund's architecture is reminiscent of castles and forts from the Middle Ages, when people lived and fought in castles and forts. Since this was my first vacation to Sweden, this garden provided me with such a magnificent experience. I'd want to visit in the summer. Any visitor in Lund, should visit this place.

The fact that you don’t need to pay to enter to the botanical garden makes this place even better. The park has a lot of different species and every one is tagged with the scientific name and the Swedish name! There is also cozy and nice cafe and of course a greenhouse. You can also bring your picnic blanket and enjoy the nature. I highly recommend this place and it’s definitely a must to visit place in Lund.

This garden is a wonderful place to spend a couple of hours - we read so many plant names while we did an adventure lab. This is such an idyll peaceful spot and so colourful. The dahlias really caught our eyes and we spent ages looking at the variety of sizes and colours. Supposedly students enjoy studying and relaxing here on blankets when it’s warmer.

There are many beautiful plants and trees in this place. Everywhere is clean and quiet. There are shops, as well as a cafe, a small lake. Come here for beautiful photos and flowers.

We only had 1 hour which was too short. Very peaceful and well maintained. The herbal garden is really good. The cafe is very scenic and lots of flowers.
Lund Cathedral, an iconic Lutheran church constructed in the 1100s, boasts a unique astronomical clock and weekend organ concerts. The Romanesque cathedral is known for its twin towers and impressive wooden figures that come to life during the striking of In Dulci Jubilo. Finn, a mythological giant who helped with construction, can be found within the crypt along with a comically carved 16th-century well.
A little Swedish wonder. I enjoyed everything in this cathedral: the historical context for its building (the artificial creation of several bishops to gain the autonomy against the archbishop of the Hanseatic league), the sculptures on the stalls, the crypt and its couple of evil giants turned into stones, the permanent clock, etc.

Stunningly beautiful cathedral. Very spacious and peacefull. I suggest you visit a bit before the service, and stay during the service at least a bit.

I've heard good things about the Lund Cathedral, unfortunately when I went, there was a service and guest couldn't go in. The exterior was also under renovation, along with the building next to it. I would not recommend to come during April due to all the events, and also not on a Sunday. The exterior though looked OK, hopefully I can come back in the future when everything's completed.

It was a great experience to see one of the oldest buildings still in use in Sweden and is home to several historic furnishings and works of art! It is in the centre of the city, close to many restaurants and cafés. There is no entrance fee to enter the Cathedral, but you could buy brochures or guided tours!
Don't miss the astronomical clock that dates from around 1425. It displays signs of the zodiac and the phases of the moon!
Arushi Dadhwal — Google review
The 900 year old gothic style church is very impressive. They have been renovating the roof, but now the scaffolding is being taken down so you can also enjoy the exterior. Remember to visit the crypt to see the beautifully ornamented pillars.

American POV: a beautiful church, clearly rich in history. I wish there were more descriptions/signs in English so I could understand more without requiring a tour guide. Visiting on a Sunday in November it was very quiet and not busy.

The best and biggest church in Lund with very nice surroundings. 5 kr for littering a small candle at the church and it’s working fine with Swish. The church is under renovation so the rooftop is taken down now and it looks funny.

It is one of the oldest stone buildings still in use in Sweden. It is very much near to lund central and is a beautifully preserved architectural church. It consists of two towers built by Zettervall, which flank the main entrance to the west.

Stopped here while visiting Lund, and it was worth it! The outside looks amazing, but the insiding is mesmerizing! The crypt was open when we went. The clock was near to see. The cathedral has a very midieval vibe to it, and we loved it!

Lund Cathedral, at the heart of the old town, is a true masterpiece. Its grandeur and historical significance make it a central figure in Lund. The cathedral's architecture and interior are awe-inspiring, offering a glimpse into the city's rich past and cultural heritage. Visiting Lund Cathedral was a captivating experience, and I highly recommend exploring this iconic symbol of Lund's history and spirituality.

A remarkable beautiful cathedral that is almost 1000 old according to the tour info I have been told. It is well maintained over the years, and the design is absolutely spectacular with its magnificent structures. The natural lighting shades the interior beautifully.
They have a special clock that does a cute little performance twice a day, one at 3 pm and one at 11 am or 1 pm... couldn't recall clearly. Enjoy the show, and don't put too much expectations on it lol

900 year old cathedral 1123-2023 carries a lot of history. The astronomical clock runs at 12:00 and 15:00. It is particularly interesting with a carousel of figures coming out of the clock.

This is a beautiful and ornate cathedral. It is well kept and very true to its origins. The feel of this cathedral is really uplifting and sacred. It has an amazing clock, which is a true treasure. We were lucky enough to be there when it rang, and the mechanical workings were incredible to see and hear. It was by far my favorite church that we stopped at in the southern part of Sweden (admittedly, we didn't go to every single one). The lady at the front desk was extremely helpful as well and answered all of our various questions very kindly.
Anna Lyman Dalpias — Google review
During our visit to Lund Cathedral, we were treated to a truly remarkable experience. Consecrated in 1145, the cathedral holds significant historical importance and houses numerous renowned artifacts. The medieval clock and 11th-century crypt are just a couple of the fascinating features within. It comes as no surprise that the cathedral attracts over 700,000 visitors annually. With three stars in the Guide Michelin's Green guide, it stands as a prominent example of Roman architecture. The best part was that entrance to the cathedral was free, and nearby parking spaces were readily available. The friendly church staff added to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Overall, our visit to Lund Cathedral was a treat for the eyes and a captivating journey through history.

Smygehuk, located in Skåne, Sweden, is a picturesque fishing village and harbor known for being the southernmost point of both Sweden and the entire Scandinavian Peninsula. The area features the iconic Smygehuk Lighthouse and Smygehuk Hostel to the west of the harbor. A notable landmark is a statue of a nude woman situated in the harbor. Visitors can experience the charm of this fishing village while taking in panoramic views from Smygehuk Lighthouse.
Königsstuhl, a popular tourist destination located in Jasmund National Park, boasts of a prominent chalk cliff that stands tall at 118 meters. The area features a plateau that provides breathtaking views of the surroundings. This mountain peak is well-known for its spectacular scenery and serves as an ideal location for nature lovers to explore. Visitors can enjoy the beauty of the region from various vantage points while taking in the picturesque landscape that stretches far and wide.
My husband and I drove to the parking lot and joined the bus to the Königstuhl. We went there in August and it was quite crowded but it was worthwhile. There were many families with kids and the kids seem to be very interested. The presentation about the coast of Rügen was quite interesting. I took photos of some of the presentations.

Family ticket costs 20 eur. But you pay for nothing. The viewing point there is no better than many other viewing points along the route. There is a small exposition inside, but it is not worth of that money. When i asked, what we have paid for, they said "for the infrastructure", lol
Sergey Tolokunsky — Google review
One star and will never come back to this place.
The ticket was too expensive. 12€ for adult and also about 2€ for the shuttle bus to get there.
The Skywalk is overcrowded and we cannot enjoy the beauty of nature at all.
Totally disappointed!
Thuy Vy Le — Google review
The entrance fee is way too expensive and you can't even walk down to the sea. But the hike there is nice, especially when you take the sea track.
Dani — Google review
Nice but not worthed the money. I recommend to skip this main attraction, don't pay and go towards Victoria view or by the beach path towards Saasnitz. You will get better views and for free :)
We didn't visit center with exhibition as waiting time is 20-40min and we had a dog - dogs are not permitted. So it would extend out visit by few hours to exchange and stay with dog + wait to enter, we rather took a hike. When paying fee at the entrance, you are not informed about this atraction limitation.
Melánia Veřmiřovská — Google review
It's too much..the entry fee is 12 euro for adult and it's not acceptable. There is only a bridge human made and everything else natural.I was shocked to hear the price. I thought it's free if else I won't be there. The place is not much worth of 12 euro. They also chage 9 euro for busticket as well because they won't allow private vehicle.Basti hills in Dresden is 150% far better than this and they only charge 2 euro.
Aravind Sajeev — Google review
The viewing point is good. But there are better views when you walk through the national park. If you are with children or older people who do not want to do the long trek, then it makes sense to pay for the one point, see the Baltic Sea and leave. But I would recommend the national park because the views are better and different at each vantage point. The museum is really cool for children and adults if you have a long day and need to spare 2 hours. The cafe is nice. They also have a cinema which was close when we went. You pay 10 euros per person which is okay. But not worth the money.
Saloni Verma — Google review
Not worth paying for the admission, view from Victoria viewing point (for free) is just as gorgeous.
There is a paid parking on the big “main” parking lot (6€ day) or a cheaper paid alternative not far from the main parking lot. There is a shuttle bus service from the main parking to the admission center (price around 10-12€ return ticket).
The hike from parking to the admission center is 2.5-3km, easy wide trail.
Olesia Dmitrieva — Google review
Overpriced. Disappointing. €40 for two adults + two teenagers for a view of chalk cliffs. Suppose if you had kids the playground might appeal. Nice viewpoints elsewhere for free if you fancy a tramp through the forest and know where. Nice walk through the woods to get there or pay even more to get the bus!

Interactive displays & visitor info about the chalk cliffs in a modern building with a bistro.
Mixed feelings, i agree with the people here being it too costly (with parking, shuttle bus and then entrance fee) its feels like everyone wants to profit out of something that belongs to nature.
I however like the informative tour inside the building. They also have the tour for blind people in which they can touch things and experience it better. Thats something you do not find often!
Karsten Saers — Google review
Nice view, however questionable, if worth the 10€ you have to pay to see it. The wandern in the autumnal sun was so beautiful
Alexandra Korman — Google review
Nice view but I don’t think it is worth the €10. There is a cinema and exhibition which people might find good but they are just ok. Victoria Sicht (victoria view) nearby behind the bus station is free of charge and probably nicer as you can view the Königsstuhl instead of paying to be on top of it.
Go straight to the Victoria Sicht and see if you still want to enter the paid one.

Looks quite good and such. But feels like a bad cash grab, 3 for parking, 4 for the bus, 12 for the entrance and so on. Expect to spend like €25 here

Chalk cliffs partially obscured by vegetation. Little advantage from viewing platform. Got a better perspective from short hike to beach from Weddingstrasse

The level of monetisation is repulsive and the offer is underwhelming, especially second floor which presents a cheap collection of photos. Nice bistro.

This world heritage listed place is fascinating to visit with the white chalk cliffs. The information centre is also intriguing with explanations about the development of the Baltic Sea over the centuries as well as many interesting explanations about environmental issues. Well worth visiting.
Hans-Joachim Rosehr — Google review
Very nice views but do not pay entry into the museum and national park centrum bit, unless you are disabled, and can't walk many stairs, or have kids that can pay attention to a museum. Museum was very high tech but seemed to be directed at a very young audience, feeling the need to explain even the most basic principles of biology.
I recommend just taking the bus (from the parking lot) there and walking the path with stairs (around ten minute walk) to the viewpoint.
Lou — Google review
Not worth 12€ for entrance fee, and anyone wants to come should buy the ticket online, otherwise has to wait in a long line for the entrance ticket. There is still Baustelle near the entrance with the machines working around. Half an hour waiting to get in the Austellung. The food (the fish) in the Bistro tastes terrible.
Lucy — Google review
Insanely overpriced for what it is. Highly recommended taking the FREE trails around the site which offer equivalent if not better views of the wonder. 12€ to walk onto a man made structure and visit a mediocre museum is not worth it. The park surrounding the centre is magnificent and completely free to explore.
Partha Upadhya — Google review
Hiking paths are nice even though there’s not much people would choose such a way to get up to the Königsstuhl center.
Besides the buses are also quite convenient for visitors. But be honest, the cliffs and display center are not so much attractive for visitors anymore like years ago.
People have been coming and going so quickly for the reason of one minute viewing to the top surrounding?! A small outlook platform only.
The whole nature is slowly destroyed by people by building too much man-made infrastructure and overwhelming by great numbers of visitors.
I feel really sorry for such a over-doing for tourists.

The place overall is really nice but it's absolutely not worth it to pay 12 euros for one mediocre lookout and a cinema experience of 20 minutes. There are nicer and better viewpoints around the place with no need to pay.if you come please just walk around the forest and find your own free lookout, it's definitely going to be better than this overpriced skyview
Francisco Rivero — Google review
The view and the cycling path was really awesome! Make sure you wear nice shoes and carry a water bottle. And also if you are cycling upto the National park center, download a offline map before hand and be 100 % sure that you are on the cycling path, because if you join the trekking path and if the forest rangers catch you, you'll have to pay heavy fine, doesn't matter if you got lost in the forest, jus make sure you follow the rules haha!
The center however was very insightful, the exhibition center explains everything about the Chalk mountains and the National park! I would recommend to visit the centre too rather than jus going the sky walk bridge.

We didn't think it would be such a breathtaking place. We were coming from a not so spectacular Glowe and Jasmund park trip and completely bowled over by this scenic post card beauty of a place. Stayed there for 15 precious minutes... I think one of the best clean well kept beaches/beach-location in Baltic coast. Absolutely charming and worth spending half a day at a minimum...
Chandan B S — Google review
We've came to Sellin especially from Lohme to see the city, make underwater trip on Tauchgondole and stay for lunch. Unfortunatelly, we couldn't go out from the car, because entire city is blocked for free parking and all parkings and streets with allowed parking - are equiped with an old-style parking machines which accept only cash coins. In entire so-called 'tourist city' it's impossible to pay for a parking with credit card. So yes, we lost probably nice on-land and underwater view, but local business lost quite some money that four people were ready to spend there. Looks like non-German tourists are generally not welcomed anywhere, at least in former DDR we're visiting this time...

The Granitz Hunting Castle is a museum that resembles a 19th-century castle with five towers, grand rooms, and a 144m-high viewing platform. The area surrounding the castle offers beautiful walking paths alongside attractions such as an oak tree, playgrounds, museums, and restaurants to satisfy hunger pangs. Visitors can also enjoy spotting an old train powered by steam engine.
I love this castle. Great interactive explanations for children. A lot of interactive features, for example the animation of the travel journal that makes you feel like you’re traveling to Egypt as well. The architecture is exquisite but sadly the hunting trophies 🏆 were stolen.

Very nice castle. If you want to challenge yourself, you can walk up the hill to the castle for a bit of exercise. Option, you can take a city tour from the downtown of Binz near the beach and travel to the castle by the little tourist train.

The area around this castle ist beautiful to walk through. There you have the castle, a big oak, playground, museum and of course some restaurant to prevent getting hungry. It’s a really clean and tidy place and from my point of view a must seen attraction. I’ve you’re lucky enough to spot the old train power by steam engine, this could be your highlight.
To avoid walking to the castle on you own you can also use this kind of hop-on-hop-off sight seeing train. Or if your the more sportive guy, then take the bike. It’s fun to ride there.

Very nice place for hiking. The fort is surrounded by the forest, and many hiking paths around it. It is nice to combine your trip with the historical Steam train ride. When we visited this place, main tower was not open for visitors. And paying ticket price of 4 EUR is not worth for the only museum. It would have been nice to look at the forest from the top of the tower.

Castle itself is really beautiful and interesting, outside and inside.
However, the quality of the road from parking to the castle is a nightmare if you're going with a child in a stroller.

The Historical Technical Museum in Peenemünde is housed in a former power station and commemorates the laborers who built test rockets during World War II. The museum showcases the conflicting development and consequences of the notorious V2 rocket, which was constructed by engineers in Peenemünde on Usedom. A most important historical site, where the Nazis under the direction of Werner Von Braun and other eminent scientists developed the
V2 rocket propelled missile. Also the launching pad for the infamous V1 'Doodlebug" flying bomb which rained death upon London late in WW2.
Thankfully it was too late to save the badly crumbling Third Reich.
Its an amazing historical site now with launch pad and Rocket examples on display. The museum is interesting with its tales of how massive slave labour was used to achieve the manufacture of these terror weapons.

A good place to visit if you have an interest in WW2. It’s a pretty big site and it’s not just about the V2 rocket development, in fact the V2 is a small part of the exhibition. The bulk of the site is the power plant that was used up until the collapse of the DDR.

During the Second World War, engineers in Peenemünde on Usedom constructed the notorious V2 rocket. This Museum shows the conflicting development and shows the consequences. If you are interested in learning more about local history, especially regarding the second world war, this museum is a must. The "Rundgang" takes you about 2-3 hours. My favourite was the exhibition connecting old history with the current landscape via photography and various artefacts. Plus a massive bonus point - they not only provide descriptions in German and polish but also in English.

It's fair to say that the site is still in tact. The site to visit is 'Die Ausstellung' or exposition. It's pretty detailed if you want to grasp it all, I'd say take 4 hours certainly into account to cover the entire site. Everything is well displayed so the audio is complementary but not really necessary. The elevator (€1 surcharge) for the overview from the top you'll probably pay cuz while there why not but is not really worthwhile. The pictures you take downstairs will measure your expectations.

One can never quite fathom the scope and consequences of WW2 let alone the resources put into the war and HTM certainly try it's best to assist. Amazing. The artsy and quasi-philosophical approach doesn't quite do it for this visitor, and still a lot of the exhibition gimmicks are quite powerful. E.g. at the locker room at the end of the main exhibition, where the names of key characters are put and when you open c.v.'s and pictures are merited. That the power plant was actually in use til 1990, was a surprise.
Five stars shouldn't compare to Kennedy Space Center and in its right is fully warranted.

The Maritim Museum Peenemünde U-461 offers a unique opportunity to explore a large Soviet submarine from the 1960s, complete with torpedo rooms and the captain's cabin. The harbour's main attraction is the submarine museum. The entrance fee is €8 per adult. I can't rate the museum as it is 2020, and during this COVID 19 pandemic, I don't feel safe to go into a relatively small submarine with a crowd.
The ferry boats also leave from here for different tours. Make sure you check the schedule as it's limited in June.
Aggie Vierling — Google review
The submarine was okay. You need to be fit to climb up and down all of the stairs and ladders and get through the port hole doors.
My daughter wasn't too keen on the cramped space and the dummies that have been placed around the boat.. which you might consider if you have claustrophobia or have a phobia about dolls 😅
There wasn't much guidance given.. we bought the entrance ticket at the booth and climbed up and down and through the submarine ourselves.
I guess it is a unique experience and it was something to do as just about everything else in Peenemünde was closed when we visited in February.
The submarine was also only opened for limited hours in winter and the souvenir shop was closed... which was a shame.

Historic ruins of an iconic medieval monastery, circa 1199, in a serene park atmosphere.
One of the famous places Caspar David Friedrich was painting. Certainly a must see for all lovers of romantic historic sites. Only ruins survive, which are well known as a frequent subject of Caspar David Friedrich's paintings, including the famous Abtei im Eichwald ("Abbey in the Oak Forest").
In the 12th century the Baltic coast south of the island of Rügen belonged to the Rani principality of Rügen, which in its turn was subject to the Danes. The Danish Cistercian monastery, Esrum Abbey, was thus able to found a daughter house in the area, Dargun Abbey, at Dargun, west of Demmin, in 1172. When in 1198 this monastery was destroyed in fighting between Denmark and Brandenburg, Jaromar I, Prince of the Rani, whose wife was of the Danish royal house, offered to re-settle the monks at a new site at the mouth of the River Ryck, close to the boundary between the territory of the Princes of Rügen, and the County of Gützkow, since the early 1120s subordinate to the Duchy of Pomerania.
The offer of the site, which included profitable salt pans, was accepted, and in 1199 Hilda Abbey, now Eldena Abbey, was founded, and confirmed by Pope Innocent III in 1204.
The monastery became wealthy from the salt trade and was very influential in the Christianisation of Western Pomerania.
It also brought about the foundation at the beginning of the 13th century of the town of Greifswald, which started out as the monastery's trading settlement opposite the salt pans, near the point where the via regia, an important trade route, crossed the river.
The east end of the abbey church was built in about 1200, while the conventual buildings date from the mid-13th and 14th centuries, all in Brick Gothic. The final stages of construction were the west front and the nave of the church, which were completed in the 15th century.
Tours of an enormous ship hoist dating from 1934 & featuring a 36-meter lift for water traffic.
Interested in photography or fun facts? This place is worthy of your next weekend trip. Enjoy the panoramic view on top of the structure!

I never knew that there was something like that in Brandenburg. If you go there in a warm season, make sure to take a boat tour. We were lucky to get the last boat tour this year: it is an unforgettable and unique experience to sit on a boat being lifted to a higher river level! During the boat tour you get guide explanations, so you will still learn a lot even if you prefer the boat to the classical excursion 😉

This could be 5 star +
We paid 5€ to walk around the old boat lift. Unfortunately all the information boards were in German or Polish. It was amazing to see the huge structure and to see how it worked lifting the boats, both were still in use. However, I found the whole experience a bit of a money spinner, you have to pay to park, pay to activate the App, pay to use the toilet and the only way to see the new boat lift is with a tour guide, but that's only in German! With all this money they are generating they could put some English information out.
There is a small information centre which is free to enter and they had information boards on how it was erected and fortunately it was in English too 👍. The staff member we spoke to was very helpful and fortunately spoke some English which was a great help.

A lift for cargo ships working the waterways between the Oder and The Havel rivers. One that can lift 6000 tonne of ship and water 36 metres to navigate the differance in water level between the two rivers. Quicker than locks could ever do.

Really interesting place to visit and do not miss the boat ride. It was fun experience to go up the elevator and down as well.

Something different - if in area definitely worth a visit
We did a 3-day road trip around the Brandenburg region and this definitely was a highlight. During our exploring, we saw many beautiful castles, townships and lakes to this was something different.
We were travelling with a Labrador. You can take a dog up. Dog-friendly. At the ticket kiosk, they gave us a pass that gave us entry via the door, rather than the rotating gate.
Parking - there is one main car park - when leaving make sure you get a token (costs 3 euros for a car) from the parking machine next to the toilets, right by the drive-in/ out. Ha ! I thought you had to put 3 euros into the exit barrier machine. ...but no, it just takes the tokens.

This place is very much worth the visit. Amazing how high the lift raises the boats. Take the walking tour up to the top.

Been here with my son (9 years). Fantastic experience. Even though it was pouring down, we couldn't stop watching. Reasonable price for being allowed to go up.
The museum is well laid out and presented.
Clear explanations, pictures & graphics on:
- the formation, duration and liberation of the camp.
- every aspect of life within the camp.
Entrance is free.
Well worth the visit.
Highly recommended.

Need to decide between seeing Sachsenhausen and Ravensbrück best go here. The female inmates witness stories and the building infrastructure left standing give a much deeper impression of all the horrors and inhumanities of concentration camp life in the period.

The place must be visited, and it's inspiring. The courage of people... Unbelievable. The problem is the lack of information displayed in English.

78 years go, after several months imprisoned in Ravensbrück, my grand-mother was delivered by the Red Army in April 1945. As a member of the French Resistance, she was denounced and deported to this concentration camp.
In January 1939, Himmler let build up the Ravensbrück concentration camp in Brandenburg, North of Berlin, the only camp for women. The first inmates - German and Austrian women - arrived in May 1939. Some 130,000 prisoners, mostly women but also men and children, were imprisoned in Ravensbrück.
In six years, Ravensbrück was transformed into a vast concentration camp complex, surrounded by satellites (kommandos) serving the German industry.
The inmates were forced to work more than twelve hours a day, punctuated by dawn and evening calls, to develop and maintain the site; they served as slave labor in the sewing workshops and electrical assembly industries such as Siemens and Halske, as well as in the arms industries such as Heinkel, BMW, Mercedes and Skoda.
Some were subjected to the medical experiments of Dr. Karl Gebhardt. Polish girls, nicknamed "rabbits" and political prisoners NN, Nacht und Nebel. They were subjected to sterilization experiments, muscle and bone transplants...
After such a "nerve-wracking experience", my grand-mother passed her grand-children the following message:
"There is no foreigner on this planet 🌍.
☮️ Peace can not be kept by force. Everyone shall contribute to achieve it by understanding"
What a heritage from such a woman 👩 who survived this part of History.

I've been to better spas.....
My wife and I went here last night because we received a gift certificate for our wedding. We spent a little over 6 hours in the pool and sauna.
Unfortunately, we didn't like it that much. While the saunas themselves are great, our favorite was the panoramic sauna overlooking the lake, everything else is tiny and feels cramped. The large saltwater pool is nice, but not as relaxing. And again, the space between the pools and the beds is very small and hard to walk around.
A big positive surprise was the restaurant. We had the edamame, gyoza, mangu curry with shrimp and bun bo nam bo. It was delicious. Probably one of the best Thai meals I've had west of Phuket.
Unfortunately, the evening ended on a sour note as the parking garage is also - surprise, surprise - super cramped and I scratched the rims of our car going down the super narrow ramp.
To sum up: we've been here, but we prefer the SpreewaldTherme in Burg or the VaBali Spa in Berlin.

Amazing spa experience! Beautiful, warm, clean and relaxing. Especially loved the new sauna Panorama building that has several saunas inside like a salt sauna, a steam bath and a bread sauna, where you can sweat next to an old bread oven and can even get a taste of the fresh bread after the bake!
The aquasound floating pool was nice but we were really missing pool noodles or any other floating supports for the neck.
The service and personnel was very friendly and made our visit very pleasant. Thanks!

This is one of the most relaxing and clean public thermal and spa places I've seen.
It's affordable, you can reach it by train and public transport in less than an hour and half from Berlin. They have different kinds of pools inside and outside. I would like to give a plus point for the pool with underwater music and its relaxing atmosphere. I heard its textile-free for adults on Saturday. Make a phone call and reassure it before you head on to this beautiful oasis.

Good place for relaxation, available outdoor and indoor pools. One pool with cold water the other pools with warm and salty water. Fountains and jacuzzi available. Changing cabins and lockers for valuables are there as well. Parking is within 2 minutes walk. First few hours of parking are free. Prices are reasonable for the service you get. Lounge chairs for sunbathing outdoors as well as indoors available. Within half an hour 40 min drive from Berlin or Frankfurt Oder. Recommend.

I've never been for relax in my adult life. After spending 3 hours (not enough through) in the salt water and trying different saunas, I was in cloud nine.

Almost perfect, but not for our massage experienced -overpriced for the quality and not recommended at all. Although, the place itself is relaxing with a beautiful view of the lake from sauna. Better to explore around the area by cycling when it’s warmer. Not bad after all!

I spent 3 hours in pools, 1 hour in saunas and spent for it 45 Euro- it’s too much.
The water is warm and thermal ,but it would be nice to repair pool tiles.
The saunas are perfect with great view of park and lake ,but unfortunately they are too small and inside of the building is not enough space for all people.

if you searchi g for the place to relax from city rush - its a great place for relax outside the big city (just about 1H drive from berlin) and they have also a parking lot. in winter and when its colder outside also in the air nice smells from fireplaces around. Saulty water with indoor and outdoor pools with warm water (about 34C).. also few days per week are open for the visits without kids-you can enjoy quite time there. IMO, best ever time is to visit later in the evening to catch up a sunset and darkness with first stars in the sky. also they have implemented a nice idea to add candles and very good lighting in the pools in the evening time :)) the only one small negative thingy is the parking lot exit -i think already have happened 2 times: sometimes it gets broken in the evening time. Maybe too many people were exiting during the day and filled up the tickets storage or whatever, so it stops receiving tickets and starts to work super slowly and you can not leave parking lot anymore, but support works quickly and after 5-8 minutes all the queued cars for exit managed to leave the parking lot.

We came to bad Saarow for a weekend trip to get out of the city (berlin) and relax a bit.
My girlfriend has not been to a Therme, but I’ve been to multiple ones over the year, mostly in NRW/the Rheinland.
Bottom line, it was an „ok“ experience.
Value for money could be better, as the prices are around 40€ if you want to go to the saune and Thermalbad (4h)
Let’s start with the Thermalbad area:
It’s one big inside pool that connect to the large one outside, and a few smaller whirlpools. Nothing special, not bad either.
What surprised me most was the fact that they build the Therme on a rather large area, but still didn’t really feel big. It’s also not really cozy.
There are a lot of places to lay down, but people occupy these with their towels even though it is explicitly said that you are not allowed to do that and should free the spaces and put your stuff in the provided baskets (nice feature) - the reality is that this is ignored by 90% of the guests and the people working there do not care (according to the notes on the wall they are the ones that will then remove your towels, if you don’t follow the rule as given). So this is quite annoying and you never get the chance to really find a spot, take out your book and unwind.
The sauna area:
We were there ok a Saturday in February (no kids allowed day) and it was not overcrowded, but still the sauna area didn’t offer enough space to store your belongings, move comfortably around and/or really relax. The sauna concept is not really thought through and make good use of the areas.
The silent room in the sauna area:
This was super disappointing. Again, people occupied the loungers with their towels. Also there was no real silence and people talked - not really relaxing. There should be a worker there enforcing this.

This spa is about 1 hour by train from Berlin then around 20 minutes by bus. Ideally you should spend at least 3 hours to really enjoy it. It offers jacuzzi, swimming pools and sauna. I loved the jacuzzi and the lavender sauna along with many cold and hot showers.
Daily pass cost Euro 27 and 10 extra for sauna. Unfortunately, the food is very limited and the sitting is just wooden benches with ants crawling all over the tables. Obsulatly disgusting! There is a nice park overlooking a lake next to it , it's worth a visit.

Super cool feelings during the winter time! There are lots of pool to chill inside and one of them in outside which is the coolest one!
For 3 hours cost is 17 euro around, I paid in January 2020. They give a bracelet for entrance and locker to put your stuff safely. Only one thing was really annoying if you go there really busy time, after bathing when you’re exiting from the place you need to wait in the line to give your bracelet and for payment! It’s horrible system which I saw first time in my entirely life! Why they’re not taking money at the entrance and putting a box to want us to put bracelets... I didn’t expect from Germany sorry but disappointed.
