Les Portes du Soleil
Ski resort
Ski runs & snowboard parks amid dramatic peaks, with chalet restaurants & summer mountain biking.
Spent a wonderful day skiing, great value for money! Looking forward to going back.

Lots of Pisten Kilometers but slow chairlifts, and due to warmer climate and the moderate altitude not as snow safe as it was few years ago.
Nice Village in Avoriaz and ok Pricing
Maximilian Keck — Google review
We stayed at the Camping du Grand Paradis site next to Champery on the Swiss side. The ski lift was 100m from our camper which was fantastic. Portes du Soleil covers a massive ski area and we could get across to the French side in about 20 minutes. Brilliant for ski touring, just make sure you know the way back and don't leave it until the lift stations are closing down for the day, especially after a long lunch in Avoriaz on your first day!

Went skiing there in March. One of the most beautiful places I've ever skied. Great snow, beautiful runs and good food and wine along the way.

This is about web page of this domain, in particular focused on the Swiss side, it stinks badly. Examples: I am registered user, login disabled since they changed to 8 digit password as I figure out after 20 min. Reset password, login disabled for 15 more min since I tried old password for more than 5 times. It would work in a min if they were able to send a message, please reset password to 8 minimum digits. In the process I crossed 11AM so I want to reduce the fee for one day ticket, but the web page does not offer that choice for Swiss-French area. Purchase on French side did not work either perhaps because it would cost less, but my IP is Swiss. Shall I continue?? Oh I forgot, I wanted to complain formally, they want that I upload documentation, and proof of purchase.... well than they truly deserve this. Top this up that when the domain went insolvent a couple years beack they refused to honor my loyalty points which were earned over a few years. Now they offer new loyalty program... is this Swiss way of doing business??

Well this is not the most entertaining ski resort I have ever been to. It was fun but it doesnt offer a big variety of ski slopes and some slopes were even closed. Although this is still an amazing place to ski at I have experienced better ones.

St-Nicolas Cathedral, constructed in 1283 and extended until 1490, is a magnificent example of Gothic architecture. The cathedral features a renowned bell tower and stained glass windows. Before entering the building, visitors are greeted by the impressive 15th-century Last Judgment sculpture at the main entrance. Inside the Chapelle du Saint Sepulcre, visitors can view an incredibly lifelike sculptural group from 1433 depicting Christ's burial.
Beautiful cathedral, more beautiful cathedral on the inside just like you! Honestly the most beautiful stained glass windows I have ever seen.
Bregt Coussement — Google review
The Cathedral of St Nicholas represents three diferent periods of western art and architecture. The edifice of the building is from the Gothic period - as is the choir gate, the baptismal fonts, the pulpit, the cross, 'The Burial of Christ' and two sculptured portals.
One of the famous Catholic Church..

Always touching to see and visit Fribourg. Such an impressive cathedral and thanks to its tower one of the most amazing city views.
Nikolina — Google review
Amazing view! Pay 5 Fr. (student / child price available) at the cathedral shop next to the church and you will get a ticket to climb the stairs (368 steps 😬) at the left side of the church (another door).
KangWei Yew — Google review
Beautiful cathedral! The stained glass, relics, statues organ and more make this a great stop. They had great pamphlets available in multiple languages and really interesting history.
Shane — Google review
The Cathedral of St. Nicolas is truly a historical gem. In addition to its impressive dating around 1100, the presence of spectacular stained glass windows adds a unique dimension to its architectural beauty. The revelation that the same person constructed notable cities like Freiburg im Breisgau and Bern further underscores the historical significance of this figure in medieval architecture.
The cathedral is not just an ancient structure but houses valuable treasures, including a reliquary and other millennia-old artifacts, providing a fascinating connection to the past. Your visit not only offers an architectural experience but also delves into the cultural and spiritual riches of the region.
Exploring the Cathedral of St. Nicolas is a journey through time, where imposing architecture and precious artifacts tell the rich history of this city and the visionary mind behind its creations.
J4c0b1 — Google review
The main body of the church was started in 1283 and completed by 1430. The tower was completed in 1490. It is 76 metres tall and houses 11 bells. It also features a rose window above the main portal with stained glass by Harrison Weltlich (1988). The stained-glass windows, designed by the Polish painter Jozef Mehoffer and made by local craftsmen Kirsch & Fleckner between 1896 and 1936, constitute one of the most important collection of religious Art Nouveau stained-glass windows.
Originally a parish church, in 1945 it became the cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Lausanne, Geneva and Fribourg.
The Cathedral of St. Nicholas in Fribourg, built in the Gothic style, dominates the center of the medieval town of Fribourg (Switzerland). It is built on a rocky outcrop 50 metres above the river Sarine (Saane).

Visiting Fribourg and the cathedral is always worth. Just walking down the roads and up again, contemplative, specially on a quiet winter Sunday.
Nice homie café-bar-restaurant with a cosy atmosphere. Food and drinks have good quality and price. The hosts Valeria and Antonio are very friendly. It is very much worth visiting, I recommend :)

Worth to see. In fact, as I could observe this funicular is not spectacular. It's just small and short ride really, but it's a must do in Fribourg. A bit of the history of the city as it connects the old town with the new. I also in another day climbed the stairs next to it, which is not that exhausting. The funicular itself is made of wood and is quite old, which makes it special for me.

The price is included in the day ticket. So we thought we should try it. It's travels very short distance. It's not spectacular but an ok experience. Anyways there is not many touristy thing to visit near fribourg city center, so it can be visited once.

A great place for kids and adults, my little one was all excited. Big thank you to the people there who were really helpful and let my son go backstage. An unforgettable experience for him.
Only bad point: entrance fee can be steep for a whole family.

Watching the video which proceeds the visit of the maquette, catapulted me straight to my childhood. All the memories of spending hours and hours building our own model railway together with my grandfather. Only just that already made the visit worthwhile.
Apart from that I can only say: impressive! I can't imagine how much effort went into building the Kaeserbergbahn from scratch (looking at their computerised system, I guess they've started building the railway way before digital controls became mainstream).
Chemins de fer du Kaeserberg is definitely worth a visit for anyone who likes model trains as well as for families. It would be nice to see children gain more interest again in model trains. ❤

The timetable on Google maps is not accurate! We came all the way from Bulle to find the museum closed on a Wednesday. Their opening days are pretty random. I would call them before making your way there.
(Update) The owner replied to my review. That's nice. Increase from 1 to 3 stars :-)

Maison Cailler is a chocolate-making facility located in Broc, Switzerland. They have been producing chocolate since 1825 and offer interactive tours that showcase the history of chocolate. Visitors can enjoy free samples while learning about the process of chocolate making. In addition to tours, Maison Cailler also offers workshops for children and adults which include a factory tour and must be reserved in advance. The facility is easily accessible by train with a 25-minute ride from Broc-Fabrique station.
What an amazing time I had here. My friends and I loved the tour, loved the scenery and learning all the history and we especially loved the sampling. The ultimate experience was buying all the chocolates 🍫 ❤️ we could fit in our carry-ons. The staff is do warm and friendly. This is a must-do when visiting Switzerland.

Visiting this Literal Chocolate Factory was an incredible experience and I definitely recommend it to anyone traveling to this part of the world. It was a very enlightening and memorable tour through time on the history of cocoa. I recommend bringing 3.5mm headphones to plug into the story teller thing. That way you’re not holding it up like a phone the entire time. But besides that everything was incredible and the chocolate was delicious!
Carlos Ariel Then (Mr. Then) — Google review
Interesting tour of a chocolate factory. It's really more of a show that you walk through. It tells the story of chocolate and of the company. It's a dramatisation with sound effects, sets, and special lighting. It was not crowded the day we went but they are well equipped to handle big crowds. There's a mini factory set up at the end of the show. There's also chocolate tasting at the end. A delicious way to end our tour.
Anisa Lowrey — Google review
We didn't go round the museum, instead we did a chocolate workshop which was amazing. The incredible multilingual chocolatier showed us how to make and decorate delicious bar and shaped chocolate of our choice then it was our turn. My bar and teddy bear efforts weren't as good as his but every bit as delicious! I would heartily recommend this experience to anyone young or old - it's great fun for all ages.

This is a great stop to see in Switzerland! It is like entering the real world Charlie and the Chocolate Factory if it was filmed in the modern era. You go room to room exploring the history of chocolate and the development of the Cailler brand. You sample chocolate and flavors along the way. Absolutely a must see and must try place!
Kat J — Google review
Unfortunately, we were not able to visit the factory because we did not purchase tickets in advance. We found that the queue could take more than two and a half hours.
We sat in the restaurant lounge and had some desserts. It was really delicious. We bought fresh chocolate and the coffee-flavored chocolate tasted amazing.
The outside seating area is very nice and provides space for the kids to play and have fun.
Really great experience. Don’t forget to purchase your tickets before you go 😊

Wonderful place in the town of Gruyere to learn about Cailler Chocolates. They have a 30 min tour filled with amazing (and sometimes horrifying) stories about how chocolate was found in the world and how it became such an integral part of our lives. You also get to taste so much chocolate throughout the tour with the only condition being not to take the samples outside the tour area.
The price of admission was 15 CHF per person but it was absolutely worth it. Must visit, particularly if you have kids, who will enjoy this experience a lot.
You can finally also do some Chocolate shopping at the end of the tour. The best thing about these chocolates is that Cailler doesn't use any palm oil in their chocolates, only cocoa butter, which is so much better for you and the world.

Better than I could have expected!!!
Maison Cailler Chocolat Tour provides an amazing experience for both adults and kids - the tour is magical and well set, there are hearing kits with a variety of languages, you get to point and pick what you’re gonna hear next. Super interesting.
Price about 11€ per adult.
There’s the opportunity to smell and taste the chocolates - it’s lovely.
At the end of the tour there’s a gift shop with awesome products and some “sales” items.
The parking is great and super close to the facilities.
Luisa Balaniuc — Google review
This was awesome! A complete tour explaining the entire history of chocolate (in a fun not so boring way). You also get to see them making it. Virtually unlimited chocolate samples! And the hot chocolate at the cafe was truly incredible!
Mike Roberts — Google review
Parking is free but about 100 meters walk to the entrance. Entrance is $17CHF. You might want to get the Swiss Day Pass if you're going to the Maison Gruyere cheese tour and castle tour, along with using public transit on buses and trains. The tour itself is very informative and interactive. You get to sample the hazelnuts, almonds and cocoa beans. But, don't get too full on the chocolate wrapped candies because there's even more samples at the end, unlimited too! See pictures below. You just have to eat it there and not take any to go. That's why they have their souvenir store to make all your purchases.
Han Fan — Google review
I think this is the most enjoyable tour imaginable. It was fun for adults and kids alike. We laughed out loud a good few times! It was great to learn the history of the place. Very generous tasting at the end of the tour and great gift selection. The personalized gift boxes - fantastic idea, we had to stock up. The cafe was excellent, with fast service, with tasty treats.
You could smell the chocolate for hundreds of meters!
Monika Rumpf — Google review
Overall a good experience. We were a little sceptical following some reviews here, however we were happy after visiting. You need to buy tickets on a specific time slot. When we were there it was really empty, so no problem. But I think it is worth buying tickets online in advance if you want to visit during peak season. You will get an audio guide (many languages are available) and have first a guided tour which is around 15-20 minutes with some historical information. After this you can go by yourself and explore the rest of the stations. There are several stations where you can taste some chocolate. You can eat as much as you want but it should only be eaten there and not taken home. It's not that big but it's worth a visit. Don't expect to see a lot from production. There is only a production line shown and the rest is not really there. There is a shop which is a little pricey compared to other stores where you get the same products. Big free parking available within a 2-3min walk.
Benjamin K?ry — Google review
I visited the factory in 2017. I took the chocolate train from Montreaux.
I had the opportunity to see how the manufacturing process of a legitimate Swiss chocolate is and also to taste and buy the products that exist there.
This visit is worth it !

This was a neat walkthrough experience with a good mix of history and factory. There was a ton of free chocolate/nuts on the tour and the tour was offered in numerous languages by individual audio controls. You can see the languages in the attached pictures. I highly recommend if you’re staying in the area or passing through. Kids and adults will enjoy!
Mike Crenshaw — Google review
Great outing for a family! The tour is very accessible and tells the story of the company's history, takes visitors through the factory to watch chocolates be made, and finishing off with a tasting room where visitors can try delicious, fresh chocolates.
Marisa Raymond — Google review
A great place to visit and learn about the history of Swiss chocolate. Interesting narration. Some parts are interactive and at the end we could taste all different types of mass produced chocolates. It’s best to book a time beforehand as we had to wait 1 hour before we could enter.

For those who have never been here, this is one place you should try visiting. Unfortunately, radio information is not yet available in Indonesian. Hopefully, in the near future, it will be available soon.
Here, after seeing the history and process, you can try various types of chocolate. The staff is very friendly, there are also toilets and cafes available while waiting for friends and family when they shop for chocolate.

We paid for a tour here, which was not given to us because of a mishap (technically, several mishaps) with the tour company. Do not buy tours through Tours of Switzerland (booked through Get your Guide). Incredibly disappointing.
The place is lovely from the outside and the hot chocolate is delicious though. Hence, 2 stars instead of 1.
Sophie Henning — Google review
Ok this was FUN!!!! I felt like a kid. Chocolate express train picked me up and dropped me off right at factory. I bought tickets at the booth, no line and no wait for the tour. You get a radio according to your language. Then the tour begins!!!
Loved the tour, chocolate process and the SAMPLES! I ate more than I should, but they were yummy.
Bought some chocolate souvenirs on my way out! 🍫
Queen B Jules — Google review
Absolutely outstanding experience! Our tour was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Not only did we enjoy a delightful journey through the history of chocolate making, but we were also treated to delectable samples at the conclusion of the tour. I cannot speak highly enough of this experience - it's a must for any chocolate lover visiting Switzerland!
Booking tickets online is highly recommended due to the limited time slots available. With only 20 people permitted per 20-minute session, securing your spot in advance ensures you won't miss out on this extraordinary opportunity.
This visit truly stands out as one of the most worthwhile experiences in Switzerland. As the oldest chocolate manufacturer in the country still utilizing milk instead of milk powder in their chocolate production, the heritage and quality of the chocolates here are unparalleled. Don't hesitate to make this part of your itinerary - you won't regret it!

I’ve had the chance to visit the museum, but what I loved the most was the experience of making chocolate for about an hour. I would 100% recommended as it is very worth it for just 25 Swiss Francs

Visited cailler chocolate factory during my visit to Switzerland. They have a walk through presentation on how chocolate is evolved & manufactured from the time. It's very good to go through their process. Had tasted all their chocolates samples after that. Chocolates are really good. Bought different chocolates at their factory outlet after the visit at good price. Liked the visit. Kids enjoy a lot .

The experience was really nice and unforgettable , the tour includes a joyful brief of the history of chocolate.
The chocolate tasting is just amazing but in matter of comparison , I would definitely recommend Lindt factory.
Lindt quality and varieties are way better than Cailler.
Lindt factory is more far in matter of distance from Genèva, but it definitely worth the visit and highly recommended over Cailler

Gruyeres Castle, a 13th-century fortress located on a hilltop, offers visitors the chance to see ornate rooms filled with period furniture and tapestries. The castle has a multimedia history show that provides insight into its past and temporary exhibitions that showcase modern art. After being destroyed in a fire in 1493, the castle was rebuilt by the 19 various counts of Gruyeres who controlled Sarine Valley from the 11th until the 16th century.
One of the most beautiful castles I had ever seen! The spectacular view of the snow mountain gives you inner peace! Enjoy!

Great experience. When most think of Gruyères, cheese is the first thing that comes to mind, but the chateau here is historic, detailed, and fair priced. It's a smaller chateau, but loaded with history. The views are stunning and the tour itself takes about an hour. It's self guided, but each room has a detailed description of what the room was used for. Highly recommend!

We came to explore Gruyere Village and we decided to first visit the castle. along the way and at the top floor there were amazing views of the local area. The inside of the castle was also very interesting and it was cool to see the different rooms decorated so elegantly. It was overall a good introduction to the history of the region. Definitely a highlight of our trip to experience this.

This is a very cool place to walk around. I didn’t know there was an entire plaza until I entered, I thought I was just going to the castle!
I was there on a Sunday afternoon and it was VERY busy, so I would definitely recommend going during the week if possible. There are a lot of cool shops, lots to eat and drink, and amazing views! The castle garden was closed since it was January but I hear that is a big attraction as well.

Beautiful piece of history. The work and craftsmanship needed for this castle is amazing. There was much thought and design put into each room, nook and cranny.
The views from the balconies and windows are breathtaking. You can see the vast mountains on one side and the flowing valleys on the other side.
This is at least an hour tour of the castle and maybe another 45 minutes for the outside grounds. Walking the town of Gruyères can be another couple of hours.
I highly recommend visiting here.

That was one of the most fantastic places I ever met when it comes to museums. I prefer to go late in the afternoon before it closes down because I wish to be alone and enjoy the atmosphere. The castle's eye between the arts of Freeport at 850 m and it's one of the most important in Switzerland it's over the village of gray hair which comes from the crane with in France is the word grue. It that's about to leave to the 11th century.

Adorable castle on the hilltop. I recommend driving and parking in one of the lots at the bottom of the hill. It's a short walk up to the small village with a cobblestone street and a number of restaurants and small shops. The Castle is at the top of the hill, you can't miss it. My visit to Château de Gruyères was like stepping into a page from a fairy tale. This stunning chateau, nestled in a charming medieval village, offers a picturesque and enchanting experience that is both dreamlike and awe-inspiring.
The beauty of the chateau is matched by its excellent state of preservation. Every detail, from the architecture to the interior decor, is well-maintained, reflecting a deep respect for its historical significance. The museum within the chateau is a treasure trove, offering insightful glimpses into the past and showcasing a variety of artifacts that tell the story of this magnificent place.
Walking through Château de Gruyères is a journey back in time. The ambiance is serene and majestic, allowing visitors to fully immerse themselves in the history and beauty of the surroundings. The chateau and its surroundings are so beautifully preserved and presented that they create a truly awesome experience.
I would highly recommend Château de Gruyères to anyone looking for a cultural and historical adventure in a setting that seems to have leapt out of a storybook. Whether you are a history buff, a lover of architecture, or just someone seeking a unique and memorable experience, Château de Gruyères will not disappoint.

The HR Giger Museum, located in a medieval castle in Gruyeres, Switzerland, is a unique tribute to the Swiss artist known for his work on the "Alien" movies. The museum showcases Giger's surreal paintings and sculptures, all characterized by a dark and twisted aesthetic that he is famous for. Visitors can explore the eerie and mesmerizing world of Giger's distinctive biomechanical style within the picturesque charm of Gruyeres.
Really nice museum dedicated to Hans Ruedi Giger. The exposition will make you travel through the universe of the artist and what he liked with his private collection. I would not take children under the age of 12 as some of the scenery can be disturbing

This museum has a series of paintings and art works with no explanations other than mentioning the artist name and year.
Museums are always exciting and this was equally exciting until we visited. Most of the contents inside are adultery. Recommend only for adults not suitable for children.
Shop doesn't have much souvenirs. I love Alien movies that made to visit this. If you're a real fan, you can spend hours looking at very small details as well.

The museum is great, so many works from various periods of HR Giger’s prolific life. There’s also his small private collection of oddities, and always a guest exhibition of some kind. It’s off the radar, but well worth a visit. Also the town itself is very pretty.

Nice place, the entrance seemed rather welcoming but yeah he was on his phone the whole time. The place is cold at some parts because it’s decorated and built with stone so I would recommend to wear warm clothes and comfortable shoes, they should really place in some benches to sit down all around, I was dead standing around. It’s a cute small museum though:) smaller than I thought but really interesting. I wouldn’t recommend it for children though since some art are kind of.. but I loved it!

Great place for Alien fans will see a ton more of their favourite artwork. For others, it's impressive how large influence Giger had on sci-fi and pop culture.
After seeing too much of the sickeningly beautiful landscapes of Switzerland, Giger museum allows your dark side to come back to balance.

Seriously weird, well worth a visit; much bigger than it looks from the outside & expands on Geiger's work other than the well known Alien film

Among the picturesque charm of Gruyères, Switzerland, lies a portal to a realm of mesmerizing complexity and eeriness - the H.R. Giger Museum. It is a journey into the vast and sublime mind of Hans Ruedi Giger, the genius responsible for the creation of the iconic 'Alien' in Ridley Scott's legendary film.
Juxtaposed against the tranquility of the Swiss countryside, this museum stands as a compelling testament to the artistry of the fantastical and the macabre. Giger's work, laden with surreal biomechanical imagery, instantly envelops you, drawing you into a world that is as disturbingly beautiful as it is intriguing.
The H.R. Giger Museum displays an extensive array of the artist’s work, covering several decades of his unparalleled artistic journey. It boasts the largest collection of Giger's art, ranging from early landscape paintings and sculptures to the distinctive biomechanical art pieces that have defined his style.
From the moment you set foot inside, you are enveloped by an ambiance that is truly "Gigeresque." The seamless fusion of the organic and mechanical, the harmonious discord of the grotesque and the sublime, unfolds before your eyes. The carefully curated progression of his work invites you to engage with Giger's evolving imagination and skill, making the museum a revered pilgrimage site for all enthusiasts of Sci-Fi and Surrealist Art.
A visit to the H.R. Giger Museum is a profound exploration of unconventional beauty. It dares you to question and redefine your perceptions, pulling you deeper into the intricate labyrinth of Giger's world with each successive piece. This culminates in a transformative experience that resonates long after you've left the museum.
Situated in the heart of a medieval town, the museum offers an intriguing contrast of the ancient and the futuristic. This paradoxical blend heightens the allure of the museum, providing an unforgettable backdrop to an artistic journey like no other.
To conclude, the H.R. Giger Museum transcends the traditional museum experience. It invites you on a captivating journey through the mind of a creative genius who dared to push the boundaries of our imagination. Not for the faint-hearted, the museum is a must-visit for those seeking the extraordinary and the inspirational. It is an artistic odyssey that rewards the curious with an unparalleled insight into the avant-garde brilliance of H.R. Giger.

Dark, dark stuff. If you would like a deeper insight into the creature of the movies, this is the place to find it. Every part of the museum is steeped in his work, right down to the floor covering. It is located in a quaint historic town, not quite the combination you might expect.

A long held ambition (bucket list) to visit here. My son booked it and paid and we had a fabulous trip. It was everything I’d hoped for and more . . . highlight was the Giger Bar which was just across the street.

Absolutely amazing!! Even if you're not a fan, you have got to see this !! Don't delay!! Photos don't do this place any justice. You have to experience it, it's guaranteed to enrich your experience of life. Small tipp : plan to arrive early in the morning, parking places and the town fill up very quickly, even during the week. Plan plenty of time, you will want to enjoy this!

Absolutely superb for Alien fans, a great inside of the person H. R. Giger.
Great objects, not for all ages (adult themed).
I enjoyed it, it's more than worth it, dont forget the giger bar opposite of the museum!
Approximate time is about 60-90 minutes.

Excellent overview of the artist's work. Before this museum I didn't even know it was him who created the "alien" from the movie.

This one is for Fans of Gieger and all nerds. Lovely located in a castle. The theme is typical for Gieger, so you know what you can expect: drawings, sculptures and furnitures in alien type themes. (So, I wouldn’t go there with small kids).
What I really liked was that floors and some walls have been decorated with hits drawings, too. The exhibition was extended at the time of the visit by sind great work from other artist, which was a surprising nice add-on.
It wad also very nice to meet the curator(?), which was his former friend. She approached us and provided us many interesting background information, which made the work even more interesting.
We haven’t been to the Bar next door, but this looked amazing. I would definitely spend some time there at my next visit.

OMG, this is an experience I will never forget. I have wanted to go here for so long. If you love the Alien franchise and the art of Giger, you will not want to leave. There are 3 floors packed with everything, from sketches on paper, to huge art works, sculptures and so much more. The museum is only open a few days a week, for 4 hours a day, during the winter season, longer hours in the summer season, it was not long enough. There is also a shop, with a large range of items to purchase. Truly a magnificent place to visit.
There is also the Giger Bar, right opposite, another truly unforgettable experience. Serving food, coffee and alcoholic beverages.

Darkness in paradise. It is an amazing location for one of the most obscure and talented artists of the XX century. Many floors in an old building, surrounded by beautiful mountains. It's not easy to reach in the middle of Switzerland. But yes. Go for it.
Phil Kiwi — Google review
Outdated gothic museum which has far too many works. Quite an uneasy exhibition with multiple sexual elements which leaves you feeling out of sorts. Some good Alien derived artefacts but overall is like a step back to the 1980s goth movement if only missing the long black leather coat and pewter jewellery to match. Not worth the drive but it’s surrounds within the Gruyère castle are sublime.

Great place to chill. Try the "alien blood" it's really good!

Very interesting collection of works, some of which include original sketches for the Xenomorph used in the Alien movies. It's spread over a couple of floors in a small ?house and also includes part of his own collection.
Definitely a must if you're a fan, however may be off-putting if you're unaware of his works (a lot of which have a sexual theme).

I've been a fan since I was 16, so this has been on my bucket list for decades. It was a dream come true of everything I could have imagined and more!
I arrived and there was no line and you can purchase tickets there, if you going to the other museums in the village I'd reccomend buying the package tickets, it was 19CHF.
The museum was well displayed with his artwork and even included a section from his personal collection.
If you are a die hard fan then you must make the journey to visit.

Rue du Château 2, Château St-Germain, 1663 Gruyères, Switzerland
La Maison du Gruyère is a renowned cheese factory that offers an immersive experience for food enthusiasts and cheese lovers. The factory provides guided tours with audio guides, allowing visitors to witness master cheesemakers at work and learn about the traditional cheese-making process. Guests can explore a museum, savor delectable dishes at the on-site restaurant, and browse through a variety of cheese-related products at the gift shop.
Very interesting and educational tour of the cheese factory! You will be given an audio guide and 3 slices of aged cheeses to try. I went to the restaurant after the tour and ordered their rosti and cheese fondue! There is also a shop where you can purchase souvenirs. The staff are friendly!

Fantastic!
We love Gruyère cheese back home, so making a trip out here was a kind of pilgrimage for us. The tour is somewhat short, though a good enough length to make you more fully appreciate the cheese.
The tour ticket comes with a sampler of Gruyère cheese at three different ages: 6, 9, and 12 months. You also get views of real cheese production from above. It's hypnotic, in a way, and we watched longer than most other guests as the employees below drained a vat of milk.
The gift shop has a few Gruyère souvenirs, but for the most part contained generic Switzerland souvenirs. Unable to take fresh cheese back home overseas, we settled for a cap and keychain.
The real highlight was the restaurant! We ordered risotto and quiche. I've never had either of these dishes made with Gruyère cheese and they blew me away! The risotto was something I never would have considered a candidate for the cheese, and the quiche was perfectly fluffy and light.
As an enthusiastic home cook, I left inspired, and can't wait to get back home and experiment more with the cheese I've loved for 30 years!

This is a good destination to stop at if you are already in Gruyère. This is THE cheese location of Switzerland so it is a must see. However it is a quite unremarkable destination. There is a quick audio guide that takes you around giving the backstory on grass. You can see some of the machines that make the cheese however they only run at certain hours of the day.

Adorable cheese factory with a very convenient self guided tour in multiple languages. Included as part of Swiss Travel Pass and a definite must if you are in the area! Cheese is definitely unique to the region and extremely delicious. Due to the herbs eaten my the cows and the level of care applied in manufacturing the cheese it’s of superb marksmanship. Tour also includes a tasting packet of various aged cheeses. Yum!

Very cool visit, only for 7 chf. Visitors get a sample of Gruyères cheese to taste. Interestingly presented history of the cheese and the region. A wide range of languages available in audio guide included in the price. I also like that the visit wasn’t too long- around 40 minutes.

Not expensive but very interesting. They give you samples of their cheese before the tour and it's fun and informative. We were lucky to see the process in real time as they show you how they make cheese. It was fantastic. Definitely go in the morning so you can watch the action. I learned a lot.

Nice place to visit and have a good idea about cheese making and how the cow's produce the milke and how they make the gruyere cheese.
You will see and listen to the story of cheese making in the factory.
Then you can buy a lot of items from the store or have a great food in the restaurant.

Factory visit was OK. Expected a bit more, but maybe it was just my false expectations.
For the restaurant you better book a table in advance. In general- worth visiting if you are somewhere close by, not worth traveling for many hours just to see this.

I liked it! The food was really good and not excessively expensive. There is a souvenir shop and you can buy cheese, visit the museum, and in the morning you can see how they make cheese. Very nice experience overall.

If you are into Cheese, this is a must visit. Please go there before 11 AM so that you can enjoy the Cheese making process. Otherwise it's more like a video documentary and not as exciting. Also do go to the restaurant as it's a cheese lovers delight. Awesome Risotto, Rosti, Fondue and Salads. The Gruyeres train station is right across and the Gruyere castle is a few mins walk. Please note that there are no real vegan options at the restaurant.

Not worth the visit. Skip it.
There seems to be some cheese making but not all the processes was happening. Audio self guided “tour”, there is really not much to see. Gave a small packet of cheese for free.
Food at the restaurant was of good portion and not too bad hence the 2 star. Non-English menu. But unable to make up for the rather rude mannerism of the staff. Unfriendly to tourist, maybe just Asians.
Angi Wong — Google review
Helpful front desk staff. She explained that there are different stages throughout the cheese making process, as we were late, we could only see the last stage where the liquid was being poured into moulds and drain excess water. Arrive earlier to follow the whole process. A small speaker device is provided (English language available) to guide you through the tour. There’s also some bottles with grass/flower smell to fully engage your olfactory.
Restaurant servers were very efficient as food was served in a timely manner. Maria was patient and knowledgeable while she explained the menu to us. Kudos keep up the good work.

As a home cheese maker I loved this tour and the visibility of the process of making on a commercial scale! Great for kids and very interactive and informative. Really great place to visit! For me when you are in Gruyère it is a must! I would recommend to be there about 12:00 already inside to see the process how the cheese is made! It looked great and it is an interesting thing to see. After some knowledge I went to the restaurant. For me it’s a must as well! I got a fondue for one person and it was simply amazing! So if you travel alone no worries they have portions for singles as well! Great experience and very tasty one!

If you are planning on visiting La Maison du Gruyère from Zurich by train make sure to get up early as they only do the cheese making In the morning. We got the for 2:00 pm and we had an audio tour and three different ages of cheese to try. The gift shop had a large variety of items but I seemed to be impressed with the selection of Ricola. After we walked up the hill to the castle/little town!
Alycia Phylis — Google review
Do visit if you are interested in cheese and how it’s made. I believe the cheese that is made here is named after the area and is also one of the cheeses used in Fondue. They give you a sample if you pay for the tour, but you can always buy more from the gift shop.
You should also drop by the Castle and the museam. There are several restaurants and shop for a nice meal and some shopping.
Overall an excellent place to spend a quiet idyllic weekend.

It was my first place where make cheese. I like it. There is an audio guide, small package with cheese for tasting, interesting history. It was quick but interesting. Very nice little stop in Gruyère! It's a small museum and can be visited in about 20 minutes, but it is still well priced and worth the quick visit. We got fondue in the restaurant and it was delicious! Very attentive service and a nice shop as well. I recommend it!

La Maison du Gruyère offers an exceptional journey into the world of cheese-making, combining education, observation, and delightful culinary experiences. From the moment I entered, I was greeted by the inviting aroma of cheese and the warmth of the staff, setting the tone for a memorable visit.
The tour of the cheese factory is both enlightening and fascinating. It provides a comprehensive look at how cheese is produced, from the initial stages to the final product. The opportunity to take photographs of the cheese cellar, where wheels of cheese are carefully aged for up to 12 months, is a unique experience that cheese enthusiasts will particularly appreciate.
Witnessing the production process firsthand is a rare treat. The transparency and openness of the facility allow visitors to gain a real sense of the craftsmanship and dedication that goes into every wheel of cheese. It's an educational experience that's as enjoyable as it is informative.
The staff at La Maison du Gruyère deserves special mention for their friendliness and expertise. They enhance the experience by sharing their knowledge and passion for cheese-making.
The highlight for many, myself included, is the cheese restaurant located within the facility. The fondue and Rösti I tried there were simply delicious, embodying the rich flavors and traditions of Swiss cuisine. The restaurant's ambiance, combined with the quality of the food, makes it a perfect way to conclude the visit.
Overall, La Maison du Gruyère is a must-visit for anyone interested in the art of cheese-making, Swiss culture, or simply looking for a unique and tasty experience. The blend of education, observation, and culinary delight makes it a standout attraction.

Nice and warm, not too big, cozy and clean. Easy system, not prohibitively priced, free parking, and Yverdon has a nice castle to visit, too.

Great place to relax in thermal baths which are nicely warm at 30+C between the bubbles and strong jets that massage your body. Also swimming is possible as the pool is 25 meters long.
The facility has two large heated outdoor pools as well as a smaller indoor pool, more fir families with younger children.
We have been visiting this facility for the last 30 years every now and than. In this period we have not seen that any improvements were made to the building or facilities. It is all in working order and well maintained, but some improvements should be considered to attracts new customers and to stay relevant in todays competitive market.
The outside of the buildings and parking lot looks surely quite dated.
Ewald Van Der Helm — Google review
This is hotel located on a large plot of land and composed of an 19 th century impressive older building with reception area and restaurants, which was complemented with a new semi circle extension in which the bedrooms are located. The outside gives a mixed feeling: an impressive entry to the entrance building, while garden and parking lots are looking messy and not maintained.
The reception staff is very friendly and welcoming and provided all info that we wished for. A special thanks to Johnny for his great service and welcome.
The rooms are of a normal size and are well equipped with a good bathroom. Minibar is stocked quite limited.
From the room you have access to the hotel pool, but more importantly any hotel guests have free access through there own entry to the thermal pools and spa. This is a great benefit of staying at this hotel.
Breakfast is served in the historical building in a large room. The breakfast offers the usual fare although there was no mention of eggs or omelets etc. When asked we were provided with them. The rooms was quite full with guests and the staff had to work hard to arrange and clear the tables and refill the buffet.
The hotel is between a 3 and 4 star hotel category, and would need some upgrading in the areas commented upon above.
Nevertheless, the hotel is fairly priced and overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel, the access to the thermal pools and the excellent service from Johnny.
Ewald Van Der Helm — Google review
The place is clean, there are a lot of safe guards walking around.
On the other hand the cost is high for 3 big pools, the indoor pool is necessarily overfilled with cloride (it may arguably contain more than the legally allowed concentration). The outside pools are just regular and ok.
All in all a high expence for the thing it is.

Water is cold, definitely not 33°C, as the official description suggests. The staff (the management ) is very unfriendly. Definitely the worst therme in Switzerland. The renovation will not change anything, since only profit matters there.

The spa has two different prices: Ground floor with the pools for 25 CHF, and top floor with is for +15 years old with hammam, sauna and hot bath for an extra 24 CHF.
The ground floor has two outside pools, the first one has a dozen jets (way too little for how many people there are), is just warm enough to not get cold, though many people were jumping around to keep warm, a waterfall spraying coldish water, and a bubble bath.
The second pool was a few degrees colder, and thus had much less people. There were half a dozen bubble stations, but only 2 were working.
The inside pool has all the parents with their kids and is very noisy.
The top floor was rather nice. Quite small, with a limit on how many people can be inside (there was a moment where there was a queue of 6 people even though it was not a busy day). There are 2 very effective saunas at 90 and 70 degrees. Both very small (8 people max if crammed), but that's probably the reason they stayed so hot. 3 hammams (mixed and separate gender). Mixed hammam is significantly colder since bigger and more passage. The Japanese bath was nice (jacuzzi without bubbles or jets), and the outside pool with bubbles was pleasant to cool off.
I'm rating the spa at 2 stars since:
- for 20 CHF less, you get the same at Lavey les bains
- for 15 CHF more, you get a luxury experience at QC Terme in Chamonix
Basically, would not recommend to go there unless you live 30 minutes away.

Appealing photos, charming perspective but Disappointing experience.
Expected relaxing space but overcrowded!
Extra and perks marketed at the entrance were sadly unmatched, shower on repair, outdated premises, nice tea refreshing water on limited supply and stopped at 18h instead of 20h.
Compared to other spas in the region this one is totally overpriced for the quality and services.
Only good point, the staff is trying to be as close as possible to the client's needs with what limited resources they appear to have.
Timothée Galisson — Google review
The thermal center is easy to locate and easy to get to by public transport. The pools also hold a nice temperature However, compared to other thermal baths around, it is expensive for what you get. Little value for money. The pools also had a lot of kids who of course enjoy the pool loudly, making it a bit less of a relaxing experience for those adults looking for a calm environment. Other people treated it as a swimming pool and practiced their crawl technique on top of all other guests.
I’d say it is ok if you live here and get a discount.

A bit run down with moist. Corridors between pools are cold 🥶. Same with the dressing room, cold 🥶. Generally speaking, it's not a comfortable bains thermaux. We did not try the jacuzzi sauna etc because it was a bit pricey. 25 CHF for three overcrowded pools (not worth it), 50 for all the infrastructures with sauna, jacuzzi, etc. It's very overpriced compared to the competitors, and in my opinion, the infrastructures are smaller and worse.
Bruno Magalhaes — Google review
The cost is too high just for 3 pools outdoor and the jacuzzi tub not working at all times fast river never worked too well 3 stars is a bits more than deserved tho is clean but sometimes has a smell of feet everywhere I guess depends of the day or maybe who cleaned around or if 😁Shame I live in Yverdon but I would gladly go to Lavey Les Bain +5chf with spa 4-5 kinds of saunas and all what is there and lovely view on the mountain 🏔️

The Golden Pass Railway is a luxury train line that takes tourists on a scenic journey through lush countryside. It is based in Montreux and goes to Lucerne, passing by several lakes. If you are looking for an experience out of this world, then the Golden Pass Railway is definitely worth considering!
This is an amazing experience that you would be sorry if you miss it. The scenic views and the traditional train made us feel like this is something out of this world. Although you don't always get the classic train, you will always get a breath taking view all along the trip. In fact, I would even recommend getting a first class seat to avoid the crowd in popular seasons. We did, and the experience is totally worth it.

Absolutely a must when traveling from Montreux to Interlaken (or vice versa).
The scenery was out of this world amazing. Truly spectacular.
All made better with the huge windows and table service during the trip.
Could not recommend it enough.

Took it from Interlaken to Montreux, the view may not be as good as those you get with the Glacier Express except when it is approaching Montreux. The train and carriage feels newer and the Prestige class carriage comes with comfortable leather seats that recline, with foot rests and lumber/back support. All seats are heighten in the Prestige class carriage to give better view outside the panoramic windows, but these must be pre-booked at a cost (CHF49 pp). Probably worth it if you are planning to travel at peak time as even the first class carriage could be extremely busy.

I did not have to reserve in advance or pay a reservation fee to be on the Golden Pass Railway. The panorama train or Belle Époque train comes every 1h. I started my journey at Zweisimmen, a small village where I was based. From there, I toured the neighbouring cantons - Gruyères Medieval Town in Fribourg and proceeded to Chillon Castle at Montreux. However, I would recommend taking two days to visit these two places separately instead of just one day like I did.
I found the Golden Pass under-discovered. Most people would probably take the Glacier Express or the Bernina Express; however, I really enjoyed my train ride on the Golden Pass Railway. The route was very scenic, very beautiful! It covers the French - speaking regions. I could hear more passengers speaking French and several train stations are in French e.g. using the word 'Gare'. I went past Gstaad and many alpine villages. As there were less tourists in this region, I find my travel peaceful and great for my soul. It was not touristy like Jungfrau. The alps at this region is not as majestic as those in Jungfrau but they are beautiful too.
It snowed for three days when I was based in Zweisimmen. The snowfall days were therapeutic for me who comes from a tropical country. I felt that I had made a good choice. As Zweisimmen was 900m high, it was scenic and also quiet. In short, do go for the Golden Pass Railway. I like it.

The Golden Pass Railway is a very scenic train route; we took it from Montreux to Lucerne. It consists of 3 segments, Montreux to Zweisimmen, Zweisimmen to Interlaken and Interlaken to Lucerne. You can start the journey from either direction based on your itinerary.
The experience is very unique and would highly recommend this train experience when visiting Switzerland! However, if you only have time for a short ride, I would rate the Montreux to Zweisimmen segment the highest.

Got swapped from a lovely modern train with huge windows to a dirty one halfway through.
The views are absolutely amazing, and while I can expect this doesn’t happen often, still disappointed by the big downgrade due to a technical issue. The new train was dirty, loud, uncomfortable with smaller windows and did not offer what we payed for with the previous train as well as missing a part of the scenery.
We were then swapped again onto the original line with an improved train, but not ideal to swap so many times.

Vintage Swiss train from Zweisimmen to Montreux. Reservation is definitely recommended.
The difference between 1st class and 2nd class is quite massive as the 1st class coach was simply spectacular.
However the route wasn’t very scenic to be honest.
Maybe just a 1 time thing for me.

We took the panoramic train (Golden pass express) from Montreaux to Interlaken and back, in first class one way and second class to return. The ride was awesome, very comfortable, and the views from the train were wonderful and unique. However, I wouldn't do it again for the price. I would highly recommend saving all that money ($96 Swiss francs per person for first class and around $56 Swiss francs per person for second class to return) and go rent a car. In my opinion, you would have a better experience by going through route 11. You would admire more beautiful views of the Swiss alps.

Beautiful train ride. Took it from Montreux to Interlaken and bought the tickets on the SBB app. Reservations were possible for seats but not necessary. I didn’t make any reservations but seats were more than enough for the 4 of us. Views were absolutely beautiful in a very new and premium train car. However there may be works currently ongoing so we had to get off 3/4 of the way to switch to a normal train towards Interlaken. It was bigger than the golden pass train so there were more than enough seats. Strongly recommended especially if you have the half fair card.

I was expecting it to be more of traditional style like oriental express. But it turned out to be a modern carraige which was indeed very comfortable.
Food options and quantity was quite less..
Nonetheless, the journey was mesmerising with some of the stunning views you will ever see in your life..

Breathtaking...to say the least
Took the golden pass MOB to Montreux and then took Belle Epoque to Interlaken and back to Geneva !!!
All covered in this golden pass...
The train route was excellent and the Swiss landscapes are one of the best in the world!
An historical trip down the lane !

Throwback to an age of elegance and exceptional beauty!
I felt like I was in a dream and beauty on the inside rivalled the beauty on the outside. It truly was such a special experience!
First class and reservation is the only way to go for this.
One suggestion to make this even more special would be a champagne and coffee service.
A few tips:
Do the Zwiesimenn to Montreux direction as the descent into Montreux is breathtaking.
You have to book the train ticket and THEN book a reservation for first class. Both have to be done.
Sit on the left side going in that direction until you start to descent into Montreux, then switch to the right.

We were sitting in a prestige class and was expecting a little bit of privacy and peace to enjoy the trip. Unfortunately there was a family with a kid who kept making noise the whole trip so it was a bit annoying. The seat was comfortable. It was delayed because of technical problems but then they apologised by giving us a voucher that valid until next year.

We took the train from Zweisemmen going to Montreux with this beautiful vintage train, so class. The Belle Epoque train has first class and second class and its both nice. This is included with the half tax card via sbb app though you have to visit their website to reserve your preferred seat. Both sides of the journey are looking great, in my opinion... but you can move around in the train in case it's not full.

Breathtaking scenery and experience! The train itself is spotless and a joy to ride on. The Prestige class is not too expensive and definitely worth it with the reclining and heated chairs!
Lungolago is a popular tourist attraction in Montreux that features an impressive array of sculptures, as well as flower gardens and cafes. The walkway is lined with beautiful artwork that can be enjoyed at any time of day, and it makes for a pleasant stroll. There are also a number of impressive residences and hotels located in Montreux which make it a lovely place to visit.
If you visit Montreux, you have to take the time to stroll down this lake side promenade. It's a walk of serenity, even at time when it's crowded with tourists, the beautiful Lake Geneva and the mountain behind it is just so vast and majestic that we tiny humans just fade away. The sculptures by the lake is also inspiring. And if you are lucky, you can catch some of the most spectacular sunset around the world.

You can walk non stop along the lake from Villeneuve to Clarens (7km) passing next to the massive Chateau de Chillon (Castle in the lake) and Montreux waterfront. Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall, the rainbow of colours never stop changing.

An expansive garden showing the best of the scenery Montreux has to offer. It's a pretty sight lapping up by the seaside looking into the distant mountains.
Generally frequented by couples, it's a romantic place.
Chillon Castle is a 13th-century fortress located on the shores of Lake Geneva in Switzerland. The castle is well known for its beautiful lakeside promenade, which makes it a popular tourist destination.
I recently had the opportunity to visit Chillon Castle and it was an incredible experience. The castle itself is absolutely breathtaking, with its stunning location on the shores of Lake Geneva and its beautifully preserved medieval architecture. The tour guides were knowledgeable and provided a wealth of information about the history of the castle and the people who lived there. I was especially impressed by the audio guide, which allowed me to learn even more about the castle and its history at my own pace. The castle's location on the lake made for some breathtaking views and the gardens were a lovely spot to relax and take in the scenery. Overall, my visit to Chillon Castle was a highlight of my trip to Switzerland and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

The castle is good for a quick evening visit. Takes about 1.5-2 hours roughly to study the captions in great detail and know a bit about the history and the background. The access is easy. There's a boat dock and the railway line that connects the station of Montreux is close by. They do have an entry fee. Some places have access restricted to visitors. You can choose to have an audio guide.
SOUMYANANDA GOSWAMI — Google review
The audio guide provided great narration and compelling stories of the history as well as recent developments and efforts to maintain the beautiful castle. Would recommend setting aside 2 hours for sufficient time to explore the castle.

A smaller but beautiful complete castle. Nice structural components. Beautiful crystal clear water surrounds it including a shallow clear moat. Access to the towers were not allowed which is the only reason for minus a star rating.
Wanderlust Global — Google review
Such a beautiful castle. You admire how it is preserved from the ancient years. You can see the transformation if it across the years from room to room. If you follow the recommended plan of the visit, you can see everything, but you are not limited only to this. You can follow your own path and you will always arrive to main open plaza of the castle. The castle has a great view to the Leman lake and it’s so interesting to see how the regions and borders between countries have changed across the years. A beautiful activity for your weekend or free time.

Incredible! Fantastic! Unexpected wonder! Honestly I could not say anything bad about this place especially considering this was a 1 day stopover for us and it was a place I had found online as a recommendation through Social Media. I was not expecting much but as we approached along the walkway on the beach you could see why this has been suggested. Immediately you can see how well preserved this castle is from the moats and walls around the outside and then the rooms, towers and even dungeons on the inside. If you have the time, I would recommend the audio tour to really get an understanding of the castle and its history.

A beautiful island castle located in lake Geneva with interesting history. The castle has various sections showing different functionalities the castle have had in the past. Make sure to take the stairs to climb up the castle to get an incredible view. There were also galleries inside the castle showcasing antique crafts & objects.

Would visit again and again! The castle is one of the best preserved medieval castles having been extensively studied and preserved. You can buy tickets online or in person at the gate. Depending on when you're visiting you're much better off buying ahead. We visited a couple of hours before they closed and didn't feel rushed exploring the castle. You'll get to visit the dungeons, tower keep, living areas, and even the latrines (which shockingly after ~700 years still smell...used). The brochure guide comes in many languages and is extremely helpful for appreciation. There is a gift shop inside and one outside, each with different items. Staff is friendly and speaks English.

It feels like being transported back to the Middle Ages, and whether inside or outside the castle, it's truly astonishing. However, the underground areas gave me a slightly eerie feeling, not because they're bad, but because they're so authentic, making you feel like you're reliving that historical period. The immersive experience is incredibly strong! I recommend renting an audio guide to fully appreciate the charm of the castle.

Awesome castle from the 1200s right on lake Geneva. We did the self guided tour which was easy to follow and took about an hour. Some really cool history and amazing views of the surrounding area. There is also an option for a longer guided tour if you'd like.

Strongly recommend the audio tour. It comes with videos too. 6 bucks and you get great information about the castle that makes every room interesting. Loved the entire trip, would do again.

Well maintained, with good and ample signage in English. Connectivity is good as well with the local buses stopping right outside. Castle itself is intriguing, almost like traveling in time with artifacts and untouched walls from the 13th century.

Beautiful castle from the outside but we did not have a chance to visit. However, we did eat at Cafe Byron (great experience and food!) where I burned myself on the very hot metal barrier. They are aware of the danger as children have also done the same but it is up to the castle to fix. They could easily add wood on top of the metal- I hope they do so no one else gets hurt...

Gorgeous medieval castle on the Geneva lake with beautiful views. There is a museum inside with various exhibitions and lots to see and learn. It is famously linked to an epic poem by Byron named "the prisoner of Chillon". There is a great café just next to the castle and a souvenir shop. There are lots of benches to sit around and enjoy the view and a perfectly manicured garden all around the castle.

Fascinating to see the restored work done through the centuries, 1100s forward. So amazing to be able to walk through a maze of courtyards, covered bridges and rooms while experiencing the historical presence of the structure.
Accompanying furnishings are thoughtfully curated and arranged, complemented by painted walls from appropriate periods in history.
I didn't get an eerie feeling (although I skipped the dungeon and crypt), as I have before when visiting such a structure. Rather, I felt as if I could possibly have lived there during that time period!

Brilliant castle at the lake shore of Lac Leman. Accessible by train or with a boat/ferry. The tour through exhibition is very well structured and information is available in German/English and French. Using the audio Guide is highly recommended, giving a good understanding of the castle use through the centuries.

Another nice castle to look around. Parking is a bit of a pain but we figured it out. Interesting things to see within and great views around. The climb to the top of the main tower was a particular highlight. One weird thing was their reluctance to sell us a family ticket as we only had one chid - never ever had that before!

Located by the lake, Chillon Castle should be on your list of places to visit when in Montreux not only for its historical significance but also for the views of Montreux.
The perfect time to visit would be when the weather is sunny. This ensures that the temperature in the castle is not too cold and you could get a picturesque image by the lake.
The Montreux Riveria card which most hotels provide to their guests gives you 50% off the entrance fare.
For those who want to learn about the historical and cultural significance of the castle in detail, an audio guide is available. If you decide not to opt for the audio guide, there are also description of each rooms on the walls which you could read.

A brilliant construction on the Lake Geneva with a spectacular view. The attention to detail is mind blowing. This castle has a lot of history dating back the mediaeval times. We got a free entry through the swiss travel pass so we checked it out while we were on Montreux. It was a beautiful building with lots of chambers, rooms, towers and hidden secret compartments and doors. They also have a restaurant by the castle which is quite convenient. We can also walk along the lake from the castle which has a breathtaking view. The entire tour has a guided tour or a audio guide to know about the history. Good to visit earlier to avoid crowds.
A museum in Montreux dedicated to Queen, their music and memorabilia. It contains many items from their recording sessions in the 1990s, as well as costumes and instruments. The experience is fascinating for fans of the group, who can get up close to the equipment used on some of their most famous tracks.
Incredible tiny museum inside the cassino! Free entrance, lots of unique pieces, photos, etc. If you are in Montreux, you should visit this space.

Free exhibition inside the studio. There’s not much to see, so I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit it. The control room is a nice experience, where you can watch pre-recorded videos and hear tracks presented in a different manner. There’s some information on the albums released and their history, as well as some instruments and costumes, some of which are replicas. I spent under 30 minutes there, and I think that should be enough time even for big Queen fans.

Cool experience to see the Queen Studio Experience and soak up the ambiance of the place where the band recorded 7 albums including the iconic track, “Under Pressure.”
We thoroughly enjoyed the museum, the lyric sheets, instruments, and Freddie’s colorful Unitards, of course. The doc film showing in the theater was also very captivating and tied everything together.

As a huge fan of Queen and Freddie Mercury, I can say that it was absolutely fantastic. There is a lot to see and even do. In general, the casino is also beautiful and the atmosphere is nice. A small but meaningful museum. I had no idea Queen recorded more than 6 album in this very studio in Montreux, away from the distractions of London. There's lots of Queen memorabilia including hand written lyrics, and you can watch a 18min short film about the band's experience in this studio, including their last album Made in Heaven. A worthwhile visit for any Queen fan, and the best part is that it's free (donation only)!

It’s a must visit for any fans of Queen and Freddie Mercury, and an enjoyable detour for anyone else. Smaller than I expected, as most of the site is taken over by the Casino. Nonetheless, there are priceless artefacts here and a great little insight into a space where Queen recorded some of their biggest hits!

Small museum, but they have great items including original recording studio machines and manuscript of some famous queen's songs. The best part of the experience was that you a lre able to mix some of queen's songs and hear them like you have never done before.

This was the primary reason we traveled to Montreux on our summer vacation. The collection was absolutely amazing to see. I loved all of the audio clips provided, the outfits, the fan mail wall, etc. The entire collection is well put together. Highly enjoyable. I recommend any Queen fan to visit the studio experience!
Nicole Ortiz — Google review
It's a small museum where Queen's studios used to be, with a lot of details about the time the band spent there, memorabilia, like hand-written lyrics, instrument replicas and such. But the best part, for me, was the recording studio room with a mixing desk, where you can play two Queen tracks and make them sound as you want, raising or lowering the volume of the vocals, guitars, drums, etc. The volume is really loud so it's almost as exciting as being at a concert and hearing them performing live (which I never got to do). It was so moving, I seriously recommend it if you are going to Montreaux and you're a Freddie/Queen fan!

This is a free entry exhibit celebrating the time that Queen spent in Montreux. It's made up of three rooms. The first is a large room with memorabilia, instruments, and photos from Queen. A lot is original. The second is a small cinema room that shows a short documentary of Queen in Montreux but also focuses a lot on Freddie Mercury. The final room is part of the original recording studio. You can interact with some basic mixers in there and stand where Freddie recorded his final lyrics. Be sure to go outside and find the Queen tribute wall for added fun!

The Freddie Mercury Memorial statue is a shrine to all the fans who visit it. It is a bronze sculpture placed on the lakeside promenade in Montreux, Switzerland. The statue depicts Freddie Mercury, lead singer of the legendary rock group Queen, and is one of the most popular things to do in Montreux.

It's true that Montreux can get quite crowded, especially during peak tourist seasons, and popular attractions like the Freddie Mercury statue can draw large crowds. Freddie Mercury's connection to Montreux is well-known, and the statue is a fitting tribute to his time spent in the town.
The quote he mentioned, "If you want peace of soul, come to Montreux," reflects the serene and tranquil atmosphere that Montreux offers, despite the occasional crowds. It's a place where visitors can find a sense of calm and relaxation, surrounded by the beauty of Lake Geneva and the mountains.
While it's understandable that the crowds can sometimes detract from the peacefulness of Montreux, taking a moment to appreciate the beauty and history of the town can help rekindle that sense of tranquility that Freddie Mercury found so appealing.

It's a statue alright! Interestingly enough, I was able to see it during a weekend celebration leading to his birthday, so many people were around. Unfortunately, the first and best set of pics (I took) were not backed up in my photos, so I had my husband text me one, and we went back to take some more. Nothing beat the evening shots I had the first time though.

The cathedral of Lausanne, built in the Gothic style in the 12th century, is a masterpiece of ecclesiastical art. It towers above Lake Geneva and is considered one of Switzerland's most beautiful churches. Its ornate painted portal, belfry, and rose window are some of its most striking features. Restoration and construction continue to this day.
A must visit in Lausanne considering it’s free entry. An ancient church with a grand atmosphere. There is a counter in the church and you can make a payment of chf 5 to use the staircase up to the rooftop where the bell is and strike the bell. There is a panoramic view at the rooftop as well! Breathe taking view.

Gothic style cathedral with fascinating stained glasses and beautiful architecture. They also have a free guided tour of the cathedral at certain timings. We went on a weekday and we were the only ones yet the guide was sweet enough to take us around and explain everything in detail. Definitely a must visit if you find yourself in Lausanne. The steep uphill walk is definitely not suitable to those with leg problems. But if you can afford to walk up there, visit this cathedral.
The decoration style is simple yet so majestic with the stained glass being so deep in colours and so meaningful it its designs. On one side, you have stained glass telling the story of Switzerland. On the other side, the stained glass tells the story of Christianity. And when you walk toward the end of the cathedral, there is a big rose shaped stained glass which will bless you with its beauty and peacefulness. You don't have to be a Christian to appreciate this.
Be sure to stop by and look at the scenery outside of the balcony by the cathedral too. The view from above will give you the refreshing feeling you need.

Beautiful cathedral. Worth a visit. Often they have concerts at night. During the day you can often catch someone practicing the organ. If it is a beautiful day get a ticket to climb the stairs and go see the views from the top and also you can see where the guet (“cryer”)stays at night. The guet has been calling out the hours from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., 365 days a year from the tower of the cathedral. It is at least a 600 year-old tradition.

The Collection de l'Art Brut is a museum in Lusanne, Switzerland, that specializes in the art of outsider artists. The museum's collection includes paintings, drawings, and sculptures created by people who have been marginalized by society for various reasons.
This is most probably one of the world's most interesting museums devoted to "outsider art", produced by self-taught creators, often marginalized, many living in institutions or being inmates. Their histories told beside their art works is often touching, sometimes violent. The French artist Jean Dubuffet was the initiator of this museum being a collector of this art form himself and then donating his collection to Lausanne. Just now, early 2024, the museum features a special exhibition called Visages, "faces", from which I have chosen to present some photographs for the reader to enjoy. The museum is discretely implanted facing the Lausanne congress center, somewhat off the center of town, and is surprisingly roomy. The works are beautifully curated. I find it a must to spend a couple of hours here for anyone interested in arts living in or visiting the Lausanne area.

Really cute a museum to visit, not spacious but has utilized its spaces very well.
The collections are interesting and unique comparing to big museums/galleries.
If you are into arts and wanted to see grassroots artists and their work, it’s defiantly worth a go.

Collection de l'Art Brut is an extraordinary gem in Lausanne, showcasing art in its most raw and unfiltered form. This museum challenges traditional notions of art, making it a must-visit for anyone interested in the avant-garde.
From the moment you step inside, you're immersed in a world where creativity knows no boundaries. The collection features works by self-taught artists, often those on the fringes of society, and the diversity of their creations is astounding. You'll encounter sculptures, paintings, drawings, and other forms of artistic expression that are unlike anything you've seen before.
What makes this museum truly exceptional is its commitment to preserving and celebrating the authenticity of these artists. The stories behind the works are as compelling as the art itself. You'll gain insight into the lives and minds of the creators, which adds a profound layer of meaning to the experience.
The museum's setting in a beautiful historic building adds to the ambiance, creating an atmosphere that encourages contemplation and reflection. The curators have done an excellent job of presenting the art in a way that allows each piece to shine while respecting the artists' intentions.
This is a hidden treasure in Lausanne that deserves recognition and multiple visits. Don't miss it!

What a wonderful and unpretentious museum! Works are beautifully organized and exposed. This is my second visit in 30 yrs and I’m still baffled by the stories and the creativity of human beings without any kind of art formation, totally free of dogmas, trends and commercial interests. 2-3 hours is sufficient for the typical art enthusiast to sample this diverse buffet of artworks many by self taught artists exploring their passions. Our 16 year old daughter begged us to go. We didn't regret it. We loved it!

I loved my visit to this fascinating museum. Although relatively small, the museum is presented and maintained in a polished, professional way. I visited on a weekday morning, and it was not busy at all. The atmosphere was calm, relaxed and respectfully quiet, but not austere. Although there is trauma and tragedy in the stories of a lot of the artists and artwork, there is plenty of fun and colour to be found, too. I experienced moments that were variously disturbing, sobering, uplifting and inspiring. The most pervasive sense left by the collection as a whole is of passion, self-expression and individuality.
The museum provides interesting biographical information about the artists in both French and English. The collection spans a good range of mediums and dates of creation. Refreshingly, women artists are well represented. It takes around two hours to casually view the collection. There is another couple of hours worth of documentary video footage available for viewing. For a museum of this quality, the tickets are good value.

Best museum in Lausanne! The collection is unbelievable and unparalleled. The art is compelling and the stories of the people that made it are very interesting. Its a must visit!
The Olympic Museum is a lavish museum dedicated to the history of the Olympic Games. It features interactive displays, temporary themed exhibitions, and site-specific sculptural works. The museum is located next to the headquarters of the International Olympic Committee.
Impromptu day trip to Lausanne from Geneva and we visited the Olympic Museum, which is timely. It was informative and had excellent displays of past Olympic events, athletes, medals, etc. There were lots of interactive activities & we especially enjoyed the exercises to test our balance and coordination. The outside was well maintained garden with architectural art and track.

Nice place to visit if you like Olympics. 4/5 because tickets are quite expensive. You can still see one free exhibition which is okay. The place is clean and staff is so professional.

Wish I'd had longer than an hour and a half to visit all the displays and interactive exhibits. There's an audio guide, but I never could get it to work properly. However, it's not really needed.

Definitely worth going when you are in Lausanne. So much great information and history. The nurse I’m is beautiful and right by the lake. It has a gift store and a wonderful restaurant for lunch and brunch.
If you go in the spring, do not miss the beautiful magnolia trees, cherry blossoms and spring flowers.

No words can truly express my happiness when I got here. As an Olympic fan, coming close to everything I have always watched on TV was jaw dropping. I was new to the city but traveling from Zurich to Lausanne to see this was completely worth it and the location was easily accessible by bus. Pure love 🙏🏾

I loved this museum!!! The temporary Paris 2024 Marathon was extraordinary as it detailed the history of marathons and was overall very inspiring. The free audio guides explained the permanent exhibit about the history of the Olympics very well. Walking through the gardens outside and seeing the statues was wonderful too. Lausanne is a beautiful city. I would recommend everyone to come here.

Wonderful park in front of the museum. You can climb the stairs or ride in a stroller or chair along the gently rising sidewalk. In the evening the stairs and the street are very beautifully illuminated. I definitely recommend visiting during the day and in the evening!

Certainly we enjoyed our visit to the museum! A fascinating place with so much history to explore. The permanent exhibition on Olympic athletes, architects, and others are quite interesting. And seeing the Olympic game medals dating back to 1896 is indeed very impressive!

The Olympic Museum is a must visit if you're in Lausanne. They also have some fun interactive games near the end. It is in the lower ground floor. We found this a little later around the closing time but tried a few games which was fun. The views of the Lake Geneva from the cafe and from the garden outside the museum is just out of the world.

The Olympic Museum was an amazing collection of Olympic memorabilia and information over the years. I especially loved the timeline that walked you through events every year and where they were hosted. Fantastic multi-media exhibits with fascinating background on the Olympics games history and rules. Also fun memorabilia like they torches and costumes from the shows. Something for everyone, whether you’re a sports/Olympics fan or not. It’s also right on the river so very convenient to get to. It is free with the Swiss Rail Pass but I would have paid to go in.

Just a perfect place for Olympic history and current affairs. So much to learn how Olympics started and who was the pioneer. Loved the stories about athletes, trophy, games, gears, clothing and medals. Costing around 20 francs and it took us around 2 hours to explore. Must see when in Lausanne.

Its shoreline is renowned for its French-inspired architecture while the Swiss Alps form an impressive backdrop that makes it an excellent place to relax with a peaceful atmosphere and slower pace of life.

Lake Geneva (or Lac Léman) is a crescent-shaped lake shared between France and Switzerland, and overlooked by the Alps. Geneva, the Swiss city at its southern tip, is a diplomatic hub with luxury shops and a cobbled old town. On the southern, French side, is the spa town and resort of Évian-les-Bains. The chic, palm-studded Swiss Riviera stretches along the north shore from Lausanne to Montreux.

A busy spot but worth the detour! Nice staff in shop and downstairs at the entrance of the gorges where you have to show your ticket. This man told us all about a fern species which only on that spot, grows year round. Its a very special eco system. I loved the flowers outside at the restaurant.

Hi there, just a quick message to say a massive thank you to Tammy for the lessons last week for my 7 year old, he was really chuffed with how much he progressed in just 2xPrivate Lessons having never been on a board before. After the sessions he was able to link his turns and come down the mountain no drama and glad to report he's now hooked and already talking about when we can go boarding again.

Such a fantastic week. I loved everything about it. Tammy’s coaching was excellent. She made use of every moment we had on the slopes and covered so much ground in one week. The technical skills we learned improved our riding in a variety of terrain and conditions. We had a blast in every lesson whether we were on the piste, gaining confidence in the park or riding powder. The chalet was really nice and the hosts were amazing. The yoga sessions with Katie were really good too. I feel so lucky to have been part of this camp. Everybody was so friendly, encouraging and fun to hang out with. I made some really good friends and look forward to snowboarding with them and Mint again soon!

I've done two camps with Mint, and if you're looking for true snowboard progression, or even to just ride with a few people, Mint is definitely the way to go. One thing that always amazed me is how easy it was for their instructors to find the best spots. From untouched terrain, to the best and most technical powder drops you can imagine, their knowledge is beyond imaginable.
From Admin perspective: Very accommodating to everyone on the camp. Amazing prices. Easy/fast transactions, and clear and communications.
Looking forward to my 3rd trip with them!

Big thankyou for Tammy and the Mint team for a great experience in Avoriaz. We had booked 3 hr one to one with Tammy for our 3year old. Tammy had great patience and our little one had the best time and her progress was amazing. We also had an off piste morning and a lesson to help me with my confidence on the busy slopes. Nothing was to much for all the team from the emails back in August to changing meeting points so we didn't have to travel too far from our apartment. Cant wait to rebook for next year. Thanks 🏂🏂

TLDR: Amazing experience - thoroughly recommend!
Joined the April freestyle camp as a solo boarder.
Booking and details were easy, queries quickly answered through the online chat, transfers and flights booked and was good to go.
Catered chalet through Northstar who arranged skipass and the chalet hosts, Hannah and Desiree were amazing. Catered for 3 veggies, one lactose out of a group of 8 and always happy to help with extras requests.
One of the mint team joined first night to run us through the week and then mid week and end of to catch up which is a nice touch, especially when armed with merch! :D
2 instructors Gerard and Francois both brilliant, catered to different levels, group split where needed but most of the trip together which allowed for individual tips and suggestions while riding. Very easy to have a chat during the lessons for in-depth analysis and suggestions on how exactly to improve. They pushed the level for all involved while keeping it safe but progressive.
Group itself was uniquely random, mix of age and gender but you could barely tell - all absolute legends. hope to see them all on the slopes again!
Awesome time start to finish!

We saw Mint Snowboarding out and about last season when we were in Avoriaz and they looked like a fun and professional group. We wanted to make the most of our visit to the area this season so we booked a private lesson for me and my husband on the 2nd day of our full week snowboarding to brush up on our skills.
Mint were great to communicate with via email, very responsive and helpful. The prices are very reasonable IMO, I've paid more at indoor snowslopes in the UK for private lessons. We were paired with Alessandro as our instructor and we had the best time! Me and my husband have differing levels of ability, but Alessandro tailored the lesson so that he spent equal amounts of time with both of us, and really pushed us to try new things and be confident in our ability. We ended the day absolutely shattered but buzzing from the experience, and we agree it was a brilliant idea to have this at the start of the holiday, and we couldn't have been happier with our instructor Alessandro.
I can't recommend highly enough!

I booked lessons for my teenage son with Mint Snowboarding, as I know they have a great team of instructors and would keep him safe.
In just 3, 3 hour lessons, Alessandro took him from a complete novice to not only carving down the slopes, but hitting kickers, hips, boxes, and rails in the parks.
It was amazing to see him progress so quickly and safely. Thank you to Mint Snowboarding and his instructor, Alessandro.

Newbie Snowboarder here! I had the most amazing time with Mint! I went from not being able to turn from heel to toe side to being comfortable on the board on all edges and doing a couple basic tricks! All the instructors were super knowledgeable but Hector was extremely patient and knew me better than I knew myself. His ability to pick up on my lack of confidence was what I needed! Just finished a beginner/improver camp with Mint and I am already trying to find a way to go back!
I chose the first session of the season and it aligned with the technical camp too, so there were people of all levels staying at the chalets. The groups were spread out over two chalets and I stayed at Starlight in Morzine. I have to stress how amazing and accommodating the staff where.
The individual groups for skill progression were around 4-7 per instructor and there was a lot of switching between the first three skill level groups. I was super impressed with the communication between the instructors and how easily they were able to take on a person for the morning and hand them off in the afternoon for anyone that was in between levels. Due to unforseen circumstances I got to experience two different instructors and I loved how different their coaching styles were. At the end of the camp I ended up meeting all my snowboarding goals!
Although the sessions were co-ed I ended up with an all female riding crew which was really wonderful for me. The ages ranged between early 20s to late 50s and people from all over the globe. Throughout the week you really get to know the other camp members during dinners and lounge time.
The camp also had one optional day which you could take off, or get on the slopes. I definitely recommend a rest day, since that's the day where the accidents usually occur. If you happen to take a rest day it does end up being cheaper to buy the lift passes day by day.
Tammy is super organized with all her information and as long as you read her emails you'll be all set on booking transport, rentals, and all the rest. Plus there's always returning campers who are more than happy to help you out when you've got a question.
I definitely met some characters on this trip, and got an immersion in British humour.
Myself and my partner had lessons with Roy throughout our week in Morzine.
Roy is without a doubt one of the best teachers I've had the privilege to work with, in any capacity. He has a manner which inspires and builds confidence and is able to work on the fly to analyse technique, body language and the mental aspect of skiing, interpret this and deliver highly valuable coaching with excellent results.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Roy and we will both be seeking his coaching whenever we're in Morzine.

Both my individual and group lessons with BASS were excellent and I would highly recommend them. They keep their class sizes small and this meant that I got lots of very individualised feedback from highly experienced and expert instructors, even in a group lesson. The instructors tailored the lessons to meet the varied needs of everyone in the group and made sure everyone had an enjoyable time. This makes it well worth the slightly higher cost than other companies in Morzine because you develop much more quickly across a smaller number of lessons.

BASS is the bomb. I only ever skied once in my life before (which was not a great experience) and within four days of adult group lessons I was comfortable going down blue pistes !!! The groups are small and the instructors communicated with one another to make sure that everyone was comfortable at their levels. My instructor Tom Watts was amazing: patient, kind and knew well when it was time to take it to the next level. Group lessons can be frustrating when different levels and learners are put together, but this school has a fantastic system to cater to everyone's needs and learning goals. Super experience !!!!!

It was the first time skiing for our children (11 and 8). In just a few hours Tom gave them confidence, skills and (I suspect) a lifelong love of skiing. They loved every moment. We really can’t thank Tom enough - he couldn’t have been more calm, patient and inspiring - a truly wonderful teacher. They learnt more in a week than I did in years of ski schools in the 80s.
The whole process was super easy from start to finish: initial booking, confirmation, and changes to timings on the day. Jo even provided a what3words address when requested 😉.
I really couldn’t recommend them any more highly. Worth every penny.

Yvoire is a tourist trap better avoided. Tourist info is helpful though.
This garden by the Yvoir castle was a lovely surprise! Split into the 5 senses, each garden within the garden beckoned and pleased. Signs give the plant names and often a scan graphic to learn more. Species I know and love were often in new colors or sizes. Benches throughout gave spaces to rest and reflect. The gift shop sold seeds, soaps, tinctures, herbal candles and drinks, books, cards and jewelry. The medieval town was full of cafes and boutiques.
Courtney Pedersen — Google review
Beautiful Gardens worth visiting. We had a warm welcome and introduced to the gardens. You're free to roam around but there is a natural one way through. The best part is each area represents the senses, of which you can touch and taste some of the plants! Don't eat the last ones though as they're toxic or medicinal! Very well maintained. Would recommend.
M. Long — Google review
The idea is great, the execution is terrible. The garden is small and unkept - there are weeds everywhere. Some plants are obviously not watered nearly enough.
Avoid unless you’re a big fan of smelling 7 different types of mint.
Overall, the marketing is the most impressive part of the garden. The expectation it sets was way too high, and the price is exorbitant for the actual experience. Would not recommend.
Marko Radoicic (Rattus) — Google review
Superb little gem of a garden that will test your senses. I had the loveliest time walking through this garden and using my five senses to experience the best of what the garden had to offer.
Every flower, bush, vine and tree served a purpose in this wonderful garden. It wasn't built to amaze you with size, but rather show you how to maximize the impact of a garden with intelligent design.
It will take you about an hour to fully experience this garden. Smell, taste, touch, listen and see. You will then learn to fully appreciate what nature has to offer.
The only minor problem is that the mint plant is clearly over-represented due to its strong aroma. Try to avoid damaging the plants and follow the instructions given to you by the agent.

Very nice garden with manicured attention to details in the lovely set up of Yvoire. The gardens are displayed with a theme related to the 5 senses. Taste, touch and smell are the best experiences. The garden is a little small for the price point (adult is eur12).

Very interesting to smell, feel, and see these flowers, fruits, a rooster, and silk hens. Not too crowded on a Saturday. Herbs were particularly fun to smell. At least 1 hour would be needed here.

The Palais des Nations is a building complex built in the 1930s near Geneva, Switzerland which served as the headquarters of the League of Nations from 1933 until 1946. It is now used by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. The Assembly Hall, Council Chamber and other landmarks are on show in a fascinating guided tour.
Nice place to visit and work. Also good to protest on various issues. I have attended meetings and participated in protests around Palais des Nations.

I didn’t do the tour inside as it was about to close.
From outside the building, its garden with the flags and the sign have their special vibe and awesome to take pics with.
The main entrance has nothing much but the back entrance used for the tours next to the flags garden is the spot to take pics at.
If you want to do the tour check the timings as they are limited.

A must see place when you are visiting Geneve!
During my posting in Geneve from 2007 - 2011 in Geneva, I spent most of my time here..every working days perhaps :D..so I got a chance to go around and enjoy its beauty. I even get the chance to visit the place again for works until the pandemic hits.
An organized tour is also available for tourists, with extra discount if you're coming with someone with UN ID. But please check the arrangement during the pandemic as some places close their tour. If you have a friend or family with the UN ID, you can come along with them to get in and see the Palais yourself accompanies by the person with the ID.
Don't miss Room XX or Alliance for Civilization Room with its magnificent ceiling work...General Assembly, Salle des pas perdu and the famous backyard as well as mountainous scenery, the Council Chamber.
Many interesting art objects and gifts from States are also in displays.I also love the murals in the library....and of course, Gate 1 where we have the lines of flags of the UN member states.if you are lucky, you can also see beautiful peacocks roaming freely in some corners of the yard...
Don't forget to walk around the Armillery sphere and take pictures there with the Palais as the background..so lovely...There is also a typical Swiss chalet near the main gate...
A true palace indeed...with all its endless and enchanted beauty...
Take your time and enjoy it...

It's such a fantastic place for meetings, the quiet nature of meetings is just unique, and everyone's listening through an earphone speaker. The WiFi is also so good...
The downside is that I've not seen prayer rooms and the toilets aren't Muslim-friendly but thats manageable. In a nutshell the Palais des Nations is such great place to be.

The UN was the top of my sons list when we booked our trip to Geneva, so we just had to get tickets to get inside!
You have to book a tour to get inside the gates, we booked online roughly 3 weeks before, but it tells you to do it as soon as you can as it books up fast! You get a guided 1hour tour which is OK, but it's honestly worth booking just to get inside the gates, so many brilliant photo opportunities! The buildings and gardens are beautiful! My son was so happy getting his picture with the flags! Our tour guide was lovely, I can't remember his name! He really did try to squeeze as much in as possible in the short time! It's worth it as the tickets are quite cheap!

Old but beautiful UN building. There is a simple but really pleasant garden behind the main buildings, where you can see a lake and mountains from afar. In this garden you will also find some interesting sculptures.
If you are a tourist, there is a guided tour which will bring you to observe meeting rooms from the top.
For delegates, it should be noted that the cafe is quite small and the cafeteria has limited food choices. (The cafeteria also only open until 2 PM.) Maybe consider bringing your own lunches if you have time to prepare one.

We had a fantastic guide (I'm sorry, I don't remember her name but she's from Belgium) who provided us with some interesting information about the UN. We were lucky enough to visit one of the conference rooms whilst a meeting with the Human Rights council was underway.

This floral clock looks lovely and cute indeed and I bet many tourists have been visiting this spot as well. The reason why I love it because it keeps changing every season (if I'm not mistaken) and it is conveniently located by the lake and so near Place du Rhone where you can go shopping and walk to the Old Town.
During spring, this place is usually packed. But that's before the pandemic. Nowadays, it might not be that busy because far less tourists are coming to Geneva.

There is always much tourists who take photos and videos of the clock... Every part of year clock is in different colour... The St. Peters Cathedral in Geneva is a beautiful and historic church, which is widely considered as one of the best sightseeing places in the city. The cathedral features some interesting gothic elements, which makes it one of the most beautiful churches in the world. Additionally, the towers of the structure are incredibly beautiful and worth climbing if you're interested in seeing the city from a unique perspective.
We visited this 850+ year old cathedral which is impressive. We climbed St Peter’s Tower and had spectacular view of Geneva. It was an adventure since we climbed the first tower and walked across the other tower. It was awesome to be outdoor (not only see through windows) and view Geneva at different angles. It is super windy when we went.
Catherine Hunt — Google review
The panorama view from the top of the cathedral is amazing. The entrance to the main hall of the cathedral is free. A ticket is needed to visit the south and the north towers. It costs 7CHF and there were no queues. However, prepare for a lot of small stairs to go up! There is no elevator. The view is really amazing, especially to the lake and it is worth the effort.

Very nice cathedral. The nicest parts is the chapel on the right from the entrance and the tower with its own labyrinth of terraces. Each offers a great view of the panorama of Geneve.
This is one of places you really don't want to miss when sightseeing, especially if you are walking from the center/Ritz to Patek Philippe's museum. Really worth a time spent. Be careful of opening hours though!

Must visit the north tower panoramic view of Geneva. It is a steep climb of probably 100 steps, but the view at the top is worthwhile! Pay 7chf extra for the ascend inside the church. I also find the side chapel room to be excellent w its beautiful stain glass work. The main church is not particularly impressive in comparison to many European major churches.

Great cathedral! They have tourist guides outside (FREE) that will give you a bit of history about 10-20 minutes. It’s amazing to see the bright stain glass windows and the big organ pipes. It took about 70 years to build and you can see the differences as they build the place. Worth the visit!

Absolutely amazing!
We went to the cathedral on a quiet Monday and bought tickets upon arrival to go all the way to the top.
The journey up there was definitely worth it as the views were just breathtaking! There are a couple of different levels on the way up to stop and take photos before continuing to the very top so plenty of opportunities to take it all in and enjoy!
It wasn’t all that busy either, which was a real benefit. This is a must-do in Geneva - you can’t get sights like this anywhere else in the city!
Marina Lovejoy-Black — Google review
As an historical monument worth a look but in terms of a cathedral architecture and design I’ve been in much more impressive ones. Free entry of course. Stained glass was interesting to note there was not much in way of saints and figures, which I found surprising. The small chapel near the exit is highlight with painted and decorated ceiling and door way so don’t miss that.

Beautiful cathedral and a must-do viewing tower to see the stunning landscape of Geneva. The stairs to get up are very narrow and steep. It only takes around 3 minutes to climb to the top so not as bad as it seems, and worth it when you get to the top. Reasonable price for a great tourist attraction. Cost around 11 CHF for one adult and one child

Even if you have one day in Geneva, just like me, this is the place you want to visit. It is in old town, and you want to visit the old town as well, so just do it? From here it is just minutes walk to the lake front and there are many restaurants in between, expensive though :)

St Pierre Cathedral used to be a Roman Catholic Church converted to Protestant church during reformation. The stained glass windows are stunning. While entry to the cathedral is free, you have to pay some entry fee to get to the tower, from where you get a nice view of Geneva.

An exquisite protestant church in the heart of the old town in Geneva. Worth a visit along with a walking tour of the old town to get a feel of the times gone by! I unfortunately visited on a public holiday, hence the church was closed. Very interesting to walk along the narrow pathways, as i heard of many secret passages as part of the Cathedral and its surrounding architecture!

Visited here a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed. The staff were friendly; and after purchasing some reasonably priced tickets we were able to climb the stairs to get to the top of the cathedral, where we got incredible views of the city and surrounding scenery. There was a very effective 'traffic light' system which kept the rooms nearly empty (allowing you to enjoy the building without large crowds distrupting your experience). There were plenty of rooms and corridors along the top of the Cathedral allowing you to spend a decent amount of time there, and also allowing us to get 360° views from each side of the cathedral of the city/scenery. Definitely worth visiting during your trip in Geneva.
Zade — Google review
A huge (gothic) cathedral with a view. There some 160 stairs to the top, the staircases are super narrow and operated by traffic lights. You can see the church roof both from inside and outside, you can check the bells too. The towers are definitely worth the visit (for a small fee 5-7chf, paid inside the church).

A place rich in history. It was so important for Geneve for such long time that it is a "must go place" when visiting the city.
I recommend buying the stairs + archeological site combo; it's super cool to see the city from above and super interesting to check the excavations where so much happened in the past.

What a beautiful structure.
We paid seven Swiss francs to tour the towers, which was worth it for the view.
There are a lot of small steps to go up the tower and back down the other tower.
Tracy Vance — Google review
St. Pierre Cathedral stands as a remarkable architectural marvel, showcasing centuries of craftsmanship and artistic brilliance. The soaring spires and intricate details of the facade create a visual spectacle that captures the imagination from the outset. The interior, with its grand vaulted ceilings and stained glass windows, offers a tranquil space for spiritual contemplation.
Despite the cathedral's undeniable beauty, my recent visit on Christmas Eve was marked by a regrettable incident. As the only brown individuals in attendance, we couldn't help but notice a lack of diversity. While the architectural magnificence was undeniably present, the experience was marred when, upon returning choir booklets, a lady volunteer exhibited an unfortunate lack of warmth. Her strange stare and the abrupt manner in which she pulled the booklet from our hands left a lasting negative impression.
Despite this unfortunate incident, St. Pierre Cathedral remains a must-visit for those appreciating architectural wonders and seeking a glimpse into Geneva's rich history. It is my hope that future visitors encounter a more inclusive and welcoming atmosphere.

A magnificent cathedral with classic tall beam structures, glasswork and historical wooden interiors (such as choir stands from the 1500’s), an interesting visit and there is no entrance fee. Definitely has that holy feel, even if you aren’t religious. So full of history it would be a shame not to visit, so highly recommend stopping by!!
The Patek Philippe Museum is a stunning collection of exquisite watches, spanning over 500 years of watchmaking history. It is located in an art deco townhouse in the Plainpalais district of Geneva, and public guided tours are available every Saturday.
If you like history, time, and industry of watches , you will love this museum. I didn’t take the audio tour but I tried to read almost everything and learned a ton more than I imagined. Fun fact: Patek and Philippe were two different people! Oh, and The Reformation had a lot to do with Geneva becoming a world leader in watches! I think you can read and see everything in under 1.5 hours. No photos!
theDSsucks — Google review
I really enjoyed this museum. It has a VERY BIG collection of watches from Patek Phillipe's history. You start from the top floor and work your way down. With every floor you get too see almost exponentially more watches. It's incredible how many different designs were made throughout time as styles and fashion changed. There are even some interesting experimental ones. On the ground floor you can see their little workshop.
The normal entrance price is only 10 CHF and they also offer a complimentary audio guide in the form of a tablet with headphones. If you have a backpack or bigger bags you have to stow them in their lockers (you only need a coin or can get a free token with the staff).
The only thing I thought was unfortunate is the fact that you can't take any photos of the watches/clocks (probably for a good reason).

This was the most informative museum on our trip last month 😃. The lady at the guided tour clearly had a great passion 🔥 towards antique watches and the culture around it . She made us understand why the watches were designed in the way they did . For example the ⌚s w a salt box 🧂 was to prevent girls from passing out in corsets 👗😅 . For example the touch watch was to know the time in the pocket in a boring meeting 💬💭 but still be polite😅 . She also paid attention to the fonts on the watches . My favorite there was the singing birds w unbelievable tiny and accurate automation and the solar clocks . i can't wait to go back again to learn more details . by the way we were also lucky yo see an expensive 🌷 Tulips temporary exhibition . one of them was said to be the value of half of the museum 😮. The first thing the lady told us was : it is all about complications . 😮

Free admission with the Swiss pass with lockers to put your things in the basement. No backpacks allowed while on the visit. I found the antique collection on the 3rd and 2nd floor more relatable since I am not a fan of the Patek Philippe watches which are displayed on the first floor. Learning about the history of portable watches and looking at the last specimens that exist in the world from the 14-15th century was a big draw. No photos allowed usually but I couldn't help but snap a few of the more impressive clocks.

This museum had watches that I honestly did not expect to see. Starting from the earliest instruments used to make these watches to some extremely weird watch concepts, this museum has it all. There are quite a bit of restrictions as to what can be filmed (example DSLR cameras are not allowed and so is videography of any type).
The museum only accepts online payments and that too in Swiss Francs. This means that Euros are not accepted. This is however a place that is worth visiting if you choose to come to Geneva for a quick day trip.

It's nice, however I don't know who has the patience to do the long audio your tour.
After 15 minutes I personally got tired of even the short one

The museum owns a rich collection of handcrafted watches and some other accessories. It's a must-visit place if you're in Geneva. Don't forget to check out the history behind it!

If you are a fan of mechanical watches you simply cant miss this place. The collection of watches is amazing. They have self guided tours which i would highly recommend to take. Although they run out of the devices, if you wait a bit you can get hold of one. Also if you have the swiss pass the museum entrance is free. You can easily spend couple of hours in this museum. No bags are allowed inside and they have lockers to stow away your stuff.

Great museum, I could not believe how old some of the watches are. The craftsmanship was breathtaking. It was nice to go through the history of watches, must admit I can not believe how great watches were made 100s of years ago, the attention to detail was like from another planet.

A nice look into the history of watchmaking, from the very first portable watches to modern wristwatches, also including various other historically related trinkets. It did get quite repetitive with many similar things later on, but would probably be interesting for the watch enthusiasts out there. 10 CHF for entrance pp., not that expensive but definitely not cheap. There was a free audio guide and the staff were friendly.
There were signs saying that large cameras and flash wasn’t allowed, but then a sign saying that phones were allowed, so we naturally thought it meant we could take pictures with phones, but not with huge cameras (apparently many others thought the same) but later on we got told off by security. Very misleading sign, they could just have written that photography wasn’t allowed. That was a bad experience so here are some pictures for revenge haha

See all the great Patek Phillipe Watches from history. Learn about Patek's history. If you are or not a fan of watches this museum displays great art works and automatons as well. See the most complicated watch in history.
You can buy tickets at the museum or in advance. They offer personal guided tours as well. They have limited audio devices for a self guided audio tour.

This museum is a must visit for anyone interested in watches, mechanical engineering, art, jewellery.
The museum has three different levels, all of them are packed with the most beautiful pieces of art.
The entry is only 10CHF, and you can easily spend 3-4 hours if you want a detailed look at everything on display.
The place is very very well kept, there's no dust to be seen, no fingerprints on the display boxes, the attention to detail is truly magnificent. I very highly recommend visiting this museum when you're in Genève.

It's a quiet place yo enjoy all the watch collection. They will give you an iPad (no Spanish) so you can learn about the collection. And the end of the visit you will be able to see the workof two watchmaker doing restoration.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the museum. Got to learn a little bit more about watches in general and also have an in depth immersion into the history of the watch brand.
Entry was fairly priced and there were audio-visual guides available for the tour.
There are 3 floors; and, on the 1st floor, a little cinema to view a 5-10 minute clip on the start of the brand.
Throughout the museum, you get the see the actual machines used to manufacture the watches, the tools used, the kind of mechanism used over time, and different sorts of watches.
I did get a little woozy towards the end… which is normal after taking in so much.
