Huge Nazi concrete bunker, originally a missile base & now housing exhibits about WWII history.
You have to visit the place to see and feel the enormous amount of work that went into the construction of the building. With all WW2 artifacts, information boards, audio and video clips you get a real feeling of the horror's of war.
Hot and cold drinks available.

This place is simply amazing and should be on the list for anyone interested in WW2 or engineering. I like both so, for me, this is a fabulous place to visit.
Firstly it’s really well laid out and managed. Really well. The paths are well marked and maintained. There are also excellent audio narrations at certain points which are certainly worth listening too.
On the way to the main exhibit (a simply enormous WW2 bunker) there are lots of exhibits from artillery pieces to train carriages, bombs, Radar and even a submarine.
And then there is the bunker itself which was built to be a V2 launch site but got bombed by the Allies so never actually was used. Half is in pristine condition and the other half is derelict and shows clearly the effect of the bombs. It is really really impressive.
You can also go inside the pristine portion and see the scale of what was being built. This portion was meant to be an oxygen production site to be used as fuel for the V2.
You should go. Just go.
James C — Google review
A must see. From this site many V1 and V2 bombs were launched and hit many targets in Britain. Awful history of prison workers and concentration camps but we must learn and acknowledge history even if its not palatable to us. Inside the structure was incredible. The only negative is that although it's all wheelchair accessible the gravel pathways through the site are not easy for disabled/mobility scooters.
Carol Lewis — Google review
A really interesting place. Not especially heavily advertised but it's definitely worth visiting. The bunker is an engineering feat in itself and it has an interesting and often chilling story to tell. V1 and V2 rocket exhibits on site too.
There's an audio tour in several languages. You walk around the site but it's not too strenuous. Highly recommended
Chris P — Google review
Very nice place to visit. It’s very interesting. I’d recommend.
Fabiano S — Google review
What a place. and only a short hop from the Ferry at Calais. I was thoroughly amazed by this tour, not just because of the excellent and professional layout of the exhibits, and the time they clearly put into maintaining the exhibits, but also because they have gone to great lengths to ensure the 'human' story is being told. It's quite harrowing the story of the workers used during this period to construct such things as this bunker, but the team here have done a brilliant job ensuring that the story is being heard and acknowledged.
The Bunker for the V2 rockets is just insane! I had no idea. I'm very interested in War history, and this blew me away. We toured all the way round the bunker and inside. For anyone interested in this period of history, the stories behind it's construction, how Britain's RAF combated the incoming rockets, and it's eventual destruction, you'll spend your 10 euros very wisely. Oh, very helpful motorcycle area outfront with a locker system to lock helmets away. So handy.
Jon Page — Google review
German V2 rocket base, this is one of the best museum if have done! This property is in private hands, cool interactive museum! The dark past makes for a grim atmosphere! Pictures can not make u feel this place, the bunker is immense! Must visit!
Pieter-Jan Elias — Google review
Impressive building. I've been there 5 or 6 times now, generally on the way back to Calais and it never fails to inspire awe when you turn a corner after walking through the woods and it just confronts you.Rest of the museum is good as well with lots of info.
If you are on a motorbike then they also have a parking area for the bikes with lockers to put your crash helmet / backpacks in! Never seen that at a museum, so very bike friendly (but then France generally is)!
You could do the site in about an hour but if you want to read the boards and take in the atmosphere then 1.5 to 2 hours would be better.
Highly recommended.

Went many years ago and there has been a lot of work done with the audiovisual setup. Very informative. Well worth the visit.
Paul Devall (InvictaMoto) — Google review
An incredible place, sends you shivers to realise the sheer operation and amount of destruction such rocket installation had done.
Definitely a must visit place for anyone with interests in WWII

Fascinating, engaging. The whole family loved the experience. Very well organised. You can visit at your own pace. Thoroughly recommended. 🚀
Laurence Relton — Google review
Surprising museum, you start outside with some information about the start of World War 2. There was a deportation train where you could imagine how it was during the war. After a walk in the museum garden, you come across a giant bunker! It looks abandoned (little bit urbex) but you can visit the inside of the bunker where an old car is hiding. There is a V2 diplay in the bunker (still not sure if it is a 2D or 3D rocket) and a short documentary in a language by choice. Outside the bunker is a V1 and V2 display. It's impressive to see.
I would recommend this museum (and the shop too!). The people who work here are doing their best at English:)

Multimedia, museum of WWII & French occupation, plus 3D planetarium in huge, 1940s rocket bunker.
One of the larger nazi bunkers in the world. It was constructed in only 10 months, but never became operational. After the allied forces destroyed most of it, some of it has been preserved and turned into this museum dedicated to the development of the V2 bomb. Interesting to visit for those who like rocket science and space and who want to learn more about the history of it.
Thomas B — Google review
Great historical WOII site. A V2 launching site built in a couple of months. From life in the area during occupation, through to horrible images of forced labor in the German rocket factories by prisoners in concentration/death camps.
Luckily, you can easily skip the parts unsuited for sensitive children.
Michiel Kerstens — Google review
This is amazing place to visit. The WW2 buildings are both amazing (size, scale, speed of construction) and horrifying in equals measures. The museums are good and certainly tell the history well.
So why not 5 stars? Well the planetarium is good and the 3D affects amazing. However the movie we saw was advertised as being in English as well as French. They give you headphone for the English which is fine. What is not fine is that only 15 minutes of the 45 minutes is in English and the rest is in French. If they had told me that upfront I would have saved my money (and I did ask).
In summary the WW2 building and muse
is amazing. The planetarium is also amazing….as long as you can speak French.
James C — Google review
One of the best museum I have visited! Great multimedia and real size rockets. Definitely recommended!
Bartek Dyras — Google review
Excellent historical museum. Shows the development of the German WW2 rocket programme in a massive concrete bunker. Fascinating place would visit again. The audio visual tour was fantastic and good value for money
Chris Meadows — Google review
This centre is amazing, the French have done a fantastic job on this architecture of destruction. It's set on a few levels with a built in elevator that makes getting around easy. They have a doodlebug V1 full size a V2 full size, dicriptive videos and curators dotted about to answer any questions. The site is well worth a visit especially if your following the WWII scenes as we as a group are, and we were not disappointed with our findings. There was still the untouched damage that was left by the Brits in the bombing runs that cascaded down. Definitely a visiting center that shouldn't be missed. If you enjoyed this review then please give me a like. Many thanks Marcus 👍
Marcus Simpson — Google review
A museum I recommend. Reasons: 3 distinctive parts: 1). La Coupole: who/what/where/why - 2). Peenemunde (for those who have not visited the site in Germany you receive a nice recap - 3). The NASA era after the war.
Geert Lambrechts — Google review
An amazing place with historical significance. I found it lovely how everything was in french and English. Beware that the temperature inside is very low, don’t go wearing a t-shirt like I did, you’re gonna freeze.

Great find. Nestled in the French countryside this little gem. Be warned some of the videos and pictures are more graphic than perhaps we are used to in the UK. Very informative and at time very thought provoking.
Kevin Colclough — Google review
This is a real hidden gem in the French countryside. We arrived not quite knowing what to expect but we're pleasantly surprised.! You can quite easily spend a full day there and they allow overnight stops with a motorhome, free of charge too..
The 360 Planétarium shows different films thouout the day say you do need to plan your day there..
I would suggest that some of the museum in not for small children.
A really Informative day out and I highly recommend it. Cafe area and shop are very well stocked. Overall, great value for money.

Never knew about this place until we saw it on the history show on Disney Plus. What an amazing experience. Make sure you catch the DDay show at the planetarium.
Frances Salas — Google review
Wonderful memorial and museum. V1 and V2 missiles on display as well as footage from the occupation. Thoughtfully laid out and hugely interesting. Shocked at how war criminals were pardoned after the conflict and set to work in American and Russian space programs.
Didn't have time (ferry to catch) to do the planetarium so can't comment on that but it did look cool.
Derek Crabtree — Google review
Wow awesome find on the way to Lille. So much history and not for the feint hearted . Our kids who are eight years old liked the rockets didn’t understand the war history. Plenty of footage that runs for 20+ minutes all around the bunker - dozen or so videos is my guess. We had to miss so much history cause they were bored. Graphic photos and footage but the cafe at the end helped. Didn’t see the 3D cinema but looked great. We purchased the family pass plus 1 child. 28EU and well worth it.

Incredible museum and display.

What a fascinating museum to visit. I couldn't recommend this place enough if you love history. Not too far from Calais either.
Barry Hodge — Google review
Very interesting museum for all ages with some films, displays and original items to guide you through the museums. Not really under 5 yo friendly apart for the rockets and car hanging and the film / display on concentration camps are definitely not for them but they can sit next to the film projection and not see anything. I was warned by the friendly staff beforehand which was very helpful.
Highly recommend visiting this WWII memory site.
Audrey Larrive — Google review
Very nice maintained WWII site. Most of the explanation was available in multiple languages.
The audio guide is good, but has some errors. The gift shop and cafetaria is good too. We saw the show of the falling stars, that's a pitty it was only available in French.
Had a great day and learned a lot about terrible weapons. Seems like humanity didn't learn a thing from the past
We spent a really lovely day here. So many things to see - the photos do not do it justice. A fascinating glimpse into a bygone era. The exhibits have been lovingly assembled and the work put into creating this museum is stunning to see. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

We spent about three hours in this museum village and felt like traveling back in time. It was nice to see lots of scenes representing people at work, school, bar or church. Great to bring children they have lots of things to discover. Dinner can be served but only on reservation. Souvenirs shop also available. Worth a visit if you are in Calais area and you want something different. Enjoyed!

My parents and my son went to hike with me there from another village, when I just about to pay the tickets I found I lost my wallet. Can happen that I left in the car which was 4km away. I let my parents and son stay there and wanted to go back myself to my car. The very nice host lady heard about it, and just took her car key and said I drive you back. I was so frustrated that I could have lost my wallet and have to go back on foot to the car. She just gave me such help that I was so impressed at that time. Immediately she drove me to my car and I found my wallet there. I want to say thank you so much for the great help. It might be a small thing for you but you can’t imagine how stressed I was when I couldn’t find my wallet. I am not a big fun of museum but this museum is really amazing that I couldn’t stop looking all the collections one by one and want to explain everything to my son. Fantastic experience, such nice lady and such wonderful museum. Worth to see in any case and you will not regret!!!

A cute stop on our way home to England. There were plenty of interesting things to see set in the 1900's. Very accessible for young children and some fun activities to do along the walk around the exhibition's. There is also a lovely church depicting the Easter story which was quite fitting as we visited just after Easter Monday.
Deal Castle is a 16th-century artillery fortress featuring large round bastions designed for cannons, connected by an intricate network of passageways. It is a fascinating structure to explore with plenty of history to learn about, and the grounds provide stunning views stretching all the way to France. The castle's functional design was intended for wartime use, showcasing how castles were built during that era. Visitors can easily walk around and appreciate the tunnels while admiring the scenery.
A great Castle to visit and the crowds are not so much. If a member and parking remember to get a ticket from the machine to put in car (it is free). Kids loved the tunnels and exploring the grounds. The guy on reception was welcoming and gave some insights.
It is easy to walk around and the views are great, we could see France.
There is just enough to read and to learn the history... A good trip and worth the visit.

Beautiful castle and worth spending a few hours there learning about all the history and especially the fishing of the castle and its role on the sea front.
Ollie Calcott — Google review
Good to visit after Walmer Castle to see how the castles looked when built. Functional, fit for purpose, ready for war. Definitely worth a walk into Deal too or maybe walk from Walmer Castle as just over a mile along the sea.
Kerry Chapman — Google review
Omg, loved the castle. Its not big, so as I'm disabled I was able to totter round without too much pain. Fantastic history, The tour guide was lovely, we went into the lower part of the tunnels and though it was bright sunshine it was dark, no one down there. I got goose bumps and my arm hair stood on end as I heard footsteps behind me and no one was there, I waited to see if it was anyone but there wasn't anyone !!!! Definitely recommend 👌
Zoe Marie — Google review
Excellent place to look back, discover a history, and see how beautiful architecture can be. Definitely, I can recommend a castle, definitely is it. It must be when you're here.
Monika Daca — Google review
It is an interesting fort built between 1539-40 by Henry VIII as a defence point against french, spanish, and dutch potential invaders.
It is an interesting fort, and its semi-circular shape made it a very good defensive structure.
The most thrilling part of the visit was the walk throughout the small, dark, poor lighted tunnel around the fort.
A huge shout out to Jenny and the history student that gave us a nice tour and all the information about it.
cristi cristian — Google review
A great castle to visit. Interesting history and I love the unusual design and what was obviously one a double spiral staircase up the middle
Richard Salisbury — Google review
Many rooms to visit although not a lot to see in the rooms apart from small insights and pieces on information from different eras though the Castle/Fort's history. The little ones were intrigued; but also scared of the dark in the Rounds beneath the castle.
Adam Leadbetter — Google review
A lot less to see and do here compared to some other English Heritages site such as Walmer Castle just along the coast. However, still a well kept and interesting piece of history. The tunnels that circle the building are quite unique and there is a great view from the top of the castle.
Free parking in the car park for English Heritage members. You do need to get a ticket from the machine still though.
Ian Fry — Google review
Kids will love it here , when you go down into the basement it feels like you have got lost.
Really intresting as well with lots of exhibitions on different floors and lots for the kids to play with. This site is not suitable for wheelchair users as there is a lot of steps and uneven ground. Toilets and shop on site.
Mark Ainscow — Google review
Enjoyed our visit to Deal Castle, interesting layout, certainly not like any other castle we've been to. Information for each level was detailed in poster form.
Plenty of interactive activities for children.
Good to combine with a visit to Walmer Castle, to make a day of it, as well as exploring the lovely seaside town of Deal.

Rather sparce but some good use of space to illustrate the people who were stationed there in the past.
There is a lovely collection of 24pdr Napoleonic cannon and an early breech loader on display.
It was a shame the upper emplacement is still inaccessible after all these years.
Richard Hiatt — Google review
Great experience. I liked that there are no directions for the visit and you're sort of left to wander around. The fort has a unique curcular structure. Absolutely recommend walking around in the dark basement: nice to experience what it must have been to make guard rounds in the fort.
Cedric Hurth — Google review
Love how your left to look around by yourself only takes about an hour plenty to look at, the basement is excellent very creepy and if you follow round the outside walls you feel like you might not get out was really fun, great views of the coast!
Kay — Google review
What a surprise Deal Castle is! From the outside the size is quite deceiving. We now know the meaning of ‘doing the rounds’ after our visit there. Ben, one of the volunteers there certainly knows the history of the place and was more than happy to impart his knowledge to us. Great views out to sea which obviously was very beneficial to Henry VIII at the time and was one of three along that part of the coast, Walmer Castle and Gardens to the right, which well worth a visit and Sandown which was unfortunately demolished in the 70’s I think.
Walmer Castle and Gardens, located in Deal, Kent, is a Tudor castle that has been frequented by both the Queen and Queen Mother. In addition to its impressive architecture and history, there are also beautiful gardens and a tearoom on site. Unfortunately, events at the castle have been cancelled for 2021 but visitors can check out similar events at Eltham Palace.
Absolutely stunning location. We love to visit here during different seasons to see how the gardens and landscape change. Lovely natural bits for kids to play on as well as some wooden play equipment. Nice flat walks. Benches to sit on for picnics.
Cafe serving hot and cold snacks as well as hot and cold drinks. Delicious scones too !!

Another English Heritage gem! What beautiful grounds there are surrounding the castle. We did a quick look around the castle itself and listened to a fantastic history lesson from one of the members of staff. The surrounding gardens were absolutely stunning and the nature trail was perfect for a shaded walk around the grounds. My daughter particularly loved the natural play trail. We would definitely return just for the grounds themselves.

What a magnificent place to be. The volunteers and staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. I would recommend doing the garden tour as well. The views were surprisingly beautiful. We are members of the English Heritage, and this was the first time using our membership. We are for sure going to visit more places in this country. Before I forget, yes, we do think this place is entirely worth a visit. Many times, different seasons, for years to come 👍🏾🥰

Great day out. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and it's a wonderful time going for a stroll while imagining the Queen Mother doing the same. So much history, especially in the castle. Lots of volunteers who are more than happy to inform and answer questions. You can also buy vegetables and plants from the store when they are in season. There's a lovely cafe too if you want to stop for a coffee and cake.
Natasha G — Google review
Great place for a visit, good cafe and shop and very helpful and caring staff.
We were with a friend in a wheelchair and they all did their best to accommodate his needs. It is, nevertheless, a medieval castle and is never going to be easy for a less able person to visit. However, the gardens are accessible and well worth a look.
Mike Hansbury — Google review
We found Walmer Castle rather unusual, with its comfortable rooms and well-kept, extensive gardens - not your ordinary fortress, there is nothing harsh or intimidating about it. You can have tea right next to the canons on top of the castle, with nice coastal views. A lovely place well worth a visit.
Sa Stu — Google review
A beautiful castle with a very interesting history. The garden is splendid and well looked after. It was great to be able to visit the Lord Warden’s private apartment which has only opened to the public very recently.
The volunteers are doing a great job! They are very nice and full of knowledge.
I would recommend booking tickets online as they are cheaper than on site.

Fantastic little adventure at Walmer Castle, The kids loved the vast gardens and particularly the play area.
We went on a wet and drizzly winters day and despite the weather had a lovely time finished off with a nice cup of tea and a scone.
Highly recommended, we'll be back o for a picnic and another tour round the house in fairer weather.

Stunning again on a perfect day.
Preferred to concentrate on the gardens and chalk pit garden now 150 years old and looking great.
So peaceful just the sounds of trees & birds with many butterflies in the sheltered garden.
Sit awhile and think of your good fortune.
Roger Adcock — Google review
Super castle and grounds to spend a morning or afternoon.
There are numerous rooms to wander through in the castle itself, the ever present volunteers are keen as always to discuss how things have changed and been used in the past.
There are cannons and gun ports everywhere on the battlements, a testimony to its key role as part of the coastal defences of Kent.
I was pleased to discover that the grounds have undergone extensive improvements in recent years. There's a new café, education centre and toilet block in the gardens in addition to the tearoom in the main building.
Outside, the trails have also been upgraded, with nature spotting plaques, play areas and woodland features that will really enhance the experience for younger visitors.
All in all, a greatly improved site.

We are members of English Heritage, so I mentioned in my Google review that you can visit for free. During our visit, we also used our 20% members discount to purchase a Walmer Castle magnet and a book about foraging. We enjoyed exploring the historical display about Wellington and taking walks on the grounds. Additionally, there is a children's playground and plenty of space to sit and have a picnic. We had a great time!
Joanna Uchwat — Google review
The castle itself is very small but interesting, especially the Duke of Wellington memorabilia. The gardens are well worth a visit with two formal gardens as well as a, less formal area with a lot of areas for children to let off steam. Plenty for all the family.
Christine Ayles — Google review
I have always wanted to visit Walmer and I wasn't disappointed.
The castle is great and although it's pretty small inside its good to have a look around and find out about the Duke of Wellington and Pitt the Younger. If you do go take the almost unsignposted (signed to the second hand book store) stairs down to the cellar and also have a look around as we almost missed this and it was fun to look around.
The gardens are great and really worth a look with a good little cafe and little play bits for the kids spread throughout. Getting right to the back to the Glen is worthwhile too.
Overall a great time and well worth a visit.

Beautiful castle with lovely gardens to walk through- would recommend!
Walmer castle and gardens is a great pick for a day out. There’s a good size car park with staff who welcome/direct you as soon as you enter through imposing gates. It’s easy to get to and is sign posted.
The castle has tonnes of interesting rooms and items, including the Duke of Wellington’s boots and lots of history relating to his stays here, and the history of the castle more generally.
The gardens outside are beautiful, with a wide variety of plants, flowers and separate walking paths. We went in summer and saw the Victorian garden full of veggies! There’s a cafe here which has a decent selection of drinks and snacks too.
I also want to note that the staff throughout Walmer are all approachable and happy to provide detail on the various rooms within the castle and outside.
Walmer is part of English heritage, so if you go to only a couple of sites as a couple/family a year, I’d recommend you buy the English Heritage annual membership.

A delight to visit. History a plenty inside and beautiful gardens that have both formal and wilded sections. There are also small play areas around the gardens that would suit 2 to 8 year olds.
My only gripe, the cafe charges extra for oat milk in your drinks. Climate change?
Colin Bridgland — Google review
Although the castle part was close being redone, we took a look around the gardens. Lovely open spaces with seating throughout the grounds. Items for child to run and play around.
Went into the cafe for a bite to eat and a hot drink to warm up. Plenting of seats and toilet are separate and just around the corner from the cafe.
Popped into the shop for a quick look but you always find something to buy. Must come back just to see the castle when opened.

As a member, we've been here a number of times. Really enjoy a walk around the woods. Kids can play with plenty of swings and things to climb. Nice tea room. The castle is great. Loads of history
Neal Taylor — Google review
Historic Tudor castle later converted into a home, surrounded by beautiful gardens. The castle itself houses exhibits about the Duke of Wellington and a couple of rooms are presented as they would have been during his residence.
The gardens are the real highlight, with colourful flower beds, a well stocked kitchen garden and tropical gardens in the moat. Further from the castle there's a woodland trail and the lush Glen garden in the old quarry.
Facilities include a large secondhand bookshop in the basement, along with gift shop, café and toilets. Plenty of on-site parking. Opening times are on the website and adult ticket prices are £14.50. Would advise visiting in the summer months to see the gardens at their best.
While in the area, Deal Castle is a half hour walk heading north, and also worth a visit to see a more original Tudor fort.

A fantastic place for history and castle lovers. The castle itself is not big, but together with the gardens it is quite ok. I was attracted to the castle because the Queen Mother used to often stay there.

The Christmas lights event was pretty, but not exactly a showy show though, very gentle and less than other places like Bedgebury and Leeds Castle, but cheaper, so perhaps expected. Nice that the shop was open. The hedges are incredible! Not sure I'd pay to go to the Christmas event again.

As a family we visited the Christmas Experience and thoroughly enjoyed tonight.
It really did feel authentic and Christmassy, hot chocolates, toasting marshmallows, amazing lighting and displays, helpful volunteers and staff ph and a fantastic hot mulled apple and spiced rum punch.
Lovely gift shop and love the place 💙 thank you again for some quality family time

St Margaret's Bay Holiday Park, operated by Parkdean Resorts, is an easygoing retreat featuring comfortable hotel rooms and bungalows. Visitors can enjoy multiple swimming pools, a restaurant, and various forms of entertainment. This holiday park is particularly affordable compared to others in the area while still boasting amenities like a fitness center and children's play area. Additional services such as an 'alternative therapy clinic' are available for an extra fee.
Stayed in the Lodges for our wedding over the road at Reach Court Farm and it was perfect. Really spacious place to get ready - the big living area was perfect for make up and the well furnished kitchen allowed for bubbles and snacks. Super easy to get around and with stunning surroundings.

I enjoyed my stay in the hotel.
The rooms are nice and cozy with a little porch to walk out on.
The area is primarily used for a caravan park but the hotel is nice and private.
All of the facilities such as the pool, kiddies play area and restaurant are all located close together and are open quite late.
This is a nice hotel to stay in for the night if you intend on visiting the White Cliffs of Dover as it is quite close by.
The staff are all helpful and friendly.
I would recommend staying a night in the hotel.

Never stayed at this location, it is very quiet, the staff are very polite and attentive, the swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna are a selling point. There was not much else in terms of entertainment for children, although there was plenty to do upto 30 minutes drive away be that beach or shopping at the designer outlet in Ashford. All in all a pleasant stay, improvements in terms of more activities for children possibly a larger play area zip wires etc
Ali Hussain — Google review
Check in was really smooth and the staff were lovely , directions to the caravan were poor , we were given a map and a brief description of where to go but the plots aren’t sign posted well so you have to look at each caravan . Caravan presented well but over time of use started noticing wasn’t as clean as it could be , sweets and old crisps found under beds and side cabinet. We had a group staying in different caravans and there doesn’t seem to be a standard criteria of what kitchen utensils etc people get as we all had different things but not a major issue . The decking area was great especially with lovely weather but unfortunately had ants everywhere , the patch of grass next to the caravan had a big tree stump and with little ones they were frequently falling over it . Plenty of parking right by the caravan which was great.
The entertainment is pretty non existent with one small playground that isn’t suitable for younger children , a tiny soft play that’s very basic , evening entertainment is pretty much bingo or a quiz, they have a dart board but the darts are broken ( which you pay a deposit for) . The swimming pool is a good size but so cold and the pool for younger children is restricted to only so many allowed in so not guaranteed to be able to use, changing rooms need a good clean.
The shop is …. Well May as well say doesn’t exist as there isn’t even basics there , plenty of swimming thing’s available to buy at a premium though and toy characters that represent park dean entertainment that doesn’t exist.
It is very peaceful though so ideal for just a relaxing weekend away without children.
Overall we wouldn’t return sadly as there just isn’t enough to do there for children and what is there is poor .
We didn’t eat at the restaurant due to pricing so couldn’t comment on this .

We enjoyed our holiday. This park is the smallest park we've visited, very small restaurant and clubroom. Didn't rate the restaurant as we only had one meal where we waited 40 minutes after ordering to be told there was no chicken available for 2 of our meals & the meals were not worth the wait anyway. Club was fun and entertainment staff were good at their jobs. Our caravans decor was very minimal but was a nice size and very clean.

Just back from a great week at this park, our first time at a Parkdean. It's a smaller park, which meant it was nicely quiet and didn't feel crowded although it being just after the Easter break may have had something to do with that.
Caravan was great, best I've ever stayed in. Of particular note the shower was much larger than normal, the bed was comfy and there was a good amount of room to move about.
Several times during our week one of the crew members knocked on the door just to check we were happy with anything and see if there was anything they could do. Also I found the ladies at reception really informative, I had several great chats with Amy about the area and the park and she was really helpful.
Location was great to explore this side of Kent, Dover castle is very close and it's not a long drive to get to Sandwich, Deal etc and there's a lot of English Heritage sites nearby.
I'd like to say a big thanks to the onsite team for calling us just after we'd left - we were only ten minutes away and they'd found that we'd left a few beloved soft toys - hidden under a pillow by one of the kids! We were able to just nip back and pick them up and it was so kind of them to call straight away - another half hour and we'd have been a long way away so a massive thanks for that :)

We have recently stayed here with our 3 children. Upon arrival we found our caravan to be a good size. We couldn’t find the tv remote and the staff dealt with this very quickly. The rooms seemed clean but after lifting one of my daughter’s mattresses I found blood on the underneath. This was unfortunately at the end of our stay. There were a few little bits that were broken but I would say this was wear and tear.
The whole park was very pretty and clean. The staff in all areas were very friendly and happy. We felt the restaurant was very expensive and on one night ordered a justeat which saved us over £30.
I would recommend going down to the beach. It’s beautiful!
Shop is limited. Pool and park is good.
Not enough parking sadly. There just wasn’t enough to keep our children entertained for the whole weekend.

Came to St. Margaret’s Bay in June 2021 and while I can’t make a full review (due to some facilities being shut due to the pandemic), it was so quiet and peaceful! 😌
Caravan was clean, and staff came around on our first day to see if there was anything they could do to help, and as someone who’s been critical of Park Resorts since they changed hands, I can say I was pleasantly surprised. Plenty to do around the area if you’ve got kids, but if you’re looking for a quiet and laidback place then I’d definitely recommend this place.
Tom Ch — Google review
Cleanliness around the whole site is pretty poor, put it this way, in the second of the accommodation we were given (because the first smelt so bad or urine) we had to head to the nearest supermarket and buy cleaning stuff to clean the bungalow top to bottom. I’m talking food still on plates, sticky stuff on the door handles, stained bedding…
Friends were staying in another that was clean, so… luck of the draw?
Facilities are, on the face of it, quite good for kids, with a very good little outdoor play park, pool, soft play and entertainment area, just not super clean.
Some of the staff are really great (pool & events) and keen to ensure your able to make the most of it (hence 3 stars) - some staff really are not (cafe) where you are clearly an inconvenience to their texting conversations and a nuisance for wanting to order something.
Location is great - just bring some cleaning stuff to make sure your comfortable and embrace it. And get drunk, getting drunk will help.

Very nice holiday just come back today after a really nice chilled weekend lots to do both on site and off. Only thing I will complain about is the grass was cut way to short and should be cut and collected with a ride on with a hopper on. (I’m a grounds manager myself) the grass i the caravan was very annoying constantly sweeping the floor 🤬

We always stay in parkdean... this one is very LOW in everything, no take away on site, the lunch which states open till 4.30pm is actually closed, no shop, if you can call 2 shelves in reception a shop!! Not near the beach, there is no entertainment, unless you like bingo or a karaoke or something with kids... nothing for teenagers. I've never been to such a rubbish site. We won't be back.

Stayed overnight before a trip to France. Hotel is set in the middle of a caravan park and was a little difficult to find reception on arrival and had to ask in the bar. However, room was great, clean and perfect for a one night stay. Quiet in the night. Only slight issue was no soap available in the bathroom. Around a 10 minute drive into Dover so ideal for an early ferry. On site bar was OK if a little bit expensive, there was evening entertainment for guests but we didn't attend. Overall a good stay!

We stayed in a lodge on bela way, I can't speak highly enough of the accommodation. It was clean and had everything we needed for a weekend away including towels iron ironing board dishwasher washing machine the list goes on! Quiet space with a nice restaurant on site. Polite friendly staff. Perfect location for historical visits and very close to plenty of shops.

“It was so clean! The staff were lovely and so friendly. The pool was so nice, it really was the best fun for a 13 year old (more changing rooms would be good). I was shocked when the staff offered to ‘lend’ me a pound for the locker, that was so trusting and kind. We will be booking again for next year...”

We booked a bungalow for pet owners. The kitchen units were worn but functionable. Everything was clean. The park is nice and the staff are er friendly and helpful. Pool and Spa were good, food great. Fantastic place Trips around the Dover area.

This is a run down low market campsite. We paid more for a better van and it was sub par to say the least.
Will not be coming back here to stay the next time we venture this way.
We we mentioned the damages they didn't seem overly fussed. We was casually told to speak to the housekeeping team when we see then next, which I think shouldn't sit with us.
The pool full sized pool was incredibly cold, the smaller pool was nice and warm. The hot tub didn't work and when we spoke to the lifeguard he informed us that is only works when it feels like it. The steam room was not working either!
The location is not too bad, with Dover and shops a 5/10 minute drive away and Deal 20.

Me and 3 others stayed here for a night in the hotel before traveling to France in the morning. Nice and clean rooms with fridge, kettle, shampoo, tea and coffee. Great for a stay of one or a few nights. The food in the bar area was very tasty and the portions were a good size. The Staff were great and helpful with all our needs. Only thing was that the beds were a bit uncomfortable.
Overall a great stay and I would deffinately stay here again soon! Thank you

Had a great breakaway at the middle of Oct. Nice little bungalow wish it was longer it was the mini me first birthday, and they spoilt him rotten.
Great staff and thanks to Ryan and Zoe (2 lifeguards), who came to the rescue when mini me fell and had a big cut on the brain box.
Nice clean resort. friendly staff and a nice clean pool.
The only thing I would say is if you are out of season, there is not much to do activities wise on site, and you don't have to book as Parkdean website says you do.
already booked Wales next year.

Some complaints. Pool area was far too busy and you could not get in while hearing locals boasts they get in for free which means a paid guests we could not use the facilities. The obstacle course left my daughter with grazes on her elbows and knees( We have pictures and would like someone to contact us regarding this) Our towels rails in the both bathroom fell off in our lodge and the shower in the en-suite was blocked, (maintenance was contacted)

I've been to hundreds of museums across several continents and this one, which focuses on one localised event (the battle) is one of the best.
The museum provides information in English, which gives details for those unfamiliar with the topic and for those with prior knowledge. It provides a summary of how the war started, the people involved, the beginning of the 1415 campaign and the battle. The audio information around the display from historians was particularly interesting to me.
Tom (Bozz) — Google review

Very nice museum with the history of Azincourt, on 2 floors, and also with interactive shows both in French and English, 3 shows, covering 3 aspects of the build up, and the battle itself.
After the visit to the museum, don't hesitate to ask at the shop desk for the free battlefield map that will take you around the battlefield itself, passing 3 monuments that could be easy to miss otherwise.
*The museum will close in September 2018 for 10 months for renovations.*
CK O'Farrell — Google review
One of the best museums I've been to. Small, but with excellent exhibits laid out nicely in a modern building, and lots of things to watch/listen/touch for kids to interact with (also a small playground out back to tire them out before you get back in the car). The 360 video battle thing was particularly cool! Everything is in both French and English. Cheap to get in too. Very much enjoyed it.

I loved the old Agincourt museum and this more modern version probably tells the story more clearly but has lost some of the charm of the original. Lots to learn if you read everything, the 360 video was my favourite section and trying the weight of the sword, bow and armour was a bit of interaction for younger ones. No coffee shop which is surprising given the little available in the village. It would also be nice for the museum to be a bit clearer about the road route around the field which is worth the drive if you have an extra 10 minutes.
Can I start a campaign to bring back the scary mannequin with the projected face ?

Basilica of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception at Boulogne-sur-Mer
The Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception at Boulogne-sur-Mer had faced multiple issues in its history, including the absence of a real church and destruction during the Revolution. The gothic building was demolished, and much of its interior was burnt down. However, a majestic Renaissance emirate now stands in its place, built between 1827 and 1863. It is an impressive piece of history that has been well-preserved over time.
Very beautiful and the crypt is well worth a visit. Modern museum explaining the history of the basilica and it's surrounds. The crypt will definitely take up more time to look around than the church above. The route to take you around the crypt is well - designed and you learn lots about the history of the church and region from Roman times onwards. The exhibits and information boards in the crypt tell a story where it helps you understand their significance as you go around.

We didn't actually go in the cathedral on this particular visit as we had a day trip to France and went on to Berck, however we did have a very nice coffee in one of the many coffees dotted around Boulogne old town. It's well worth a visit, typically French and all of the bars and cafes in this area were very friendly and accomodating!
The cathedral itself is beautiful and surrounded by lovely gardens. There was some sort of flower display/festival going on during our visit which was great to see.
There's plenty of free parking around the outside of the old town and everything is easily accessible. Be aware that some of the streets are fairly steep if you have buggies or wheelchairs, but there are not many steps so is still accessible to all. There are also plenty of toilets in case you get caught short, but I highly recommend popping into one of the cafes for a coffee and using their facilities - one of the nicest coffees I've tasted and very reasonably priced!

The underground city of Nours is an architectural marvel. An entire city was built underground to hide thousands of people along with their livestock! The caves of Nours were complete with 300 rooms for people, a room for festivities, chimneys, chapels and traps for invaders. The names of streets underground resembled the names of streets above ground to guide the inhabitants.

We stopped by the caves of Naours on our way to Calais from Amiens, and with the caves being a constant 7°C it was very welcome from the near 30°C heat outside! We paid 11€ per person and were provided with audio guides in English which were very informative. Staff were also very friendly and helpful before we went down into the caves. We love exploring caves and interesting parts of nature like this and would recommend the experience. The entry fee also provides you with access to the small museum area with a range of WWI stories, artefacts, and information, which provides an insight into some more functions and history of Naours. The modern history area towards the end of the tour has a couple of translations that are maybe a little off but you get the gist, and a few limbs may be missing from the mannequins but they don’t seem to be in any pain 😁

Stop by if you are in the area. 11€ per adult including audioguide (take it). Bring jacket etc. We enjoyed the 9°C underground as it was very hot outside. The caves worth a visit but bring a toch and dress up well.
The restaurant is a nice finish of the tour: it is 'just right'. The service is kind and efficient, food is tasty and well presented, the place is simple but spacious and neat.
However, this all overshadowed by the best coffee I had for a very long time:
Double espresso, hot but not too hot, generous portion still strong, cup saucer, spoon spot on, nice biscuit and sugar on the side (not needed for me, but still), served quickly and with a smile. No glass of water though. Bu still 10/10.
Definitely recommended.

A great garden with something for everyone, families, older people. The gardens have different themes, all interesting. Stairs and ramps, a bit steep in places. We visited on a super summer day but plenty of shade and picnic areas. You can even buy a plant in the shop. There is a place to grab a bite to eat or drink and a gift /plant shop .
Richard Jenkins (RickJ) — Google review
The gardens are really pretty, however the whole visit was made unpleasant by the very loud tractor cutting the grass. I couldn't wait to leave. I assume it could be done after the gardens close or in a less noisy fashion.
The entrance isn't cheap and I would not have gone, if you would have known that it would be and hour of intense noise, so if you can ask if it is grass cutting time before paying and entering.

Only an hour’s drive from Calais too.

Beautiful beach! Especially the side with the dunes and the park/ forest. Town center is very cute. The only downside is finding a table in a restaurant. Make sure you make a reservation before heading to town. They have very specific times for the kitchen.

Beautiful soft and deep sand that went on for miles and miles. Very spacious. We were there early morning and basically had the beach to ourselves. We found some free parking on the residential streets a few roads down from the pay and display streets and only walked about 10 mins from car to beach. Lovely quaint restaurant/cafes and shops. And also a market selling clothes, crystals bags and food etc. Was a lovely day trip. Would recommend.

Lovely town, lots of good places to eat and drink. Some lovely buildings let down a little by the abandoned water park on the seafront. Still good for a sunset though ☀️

The Samara Arboretum is a prehistoric living village that showcases traditional activities like weaving, jewelry designing, and fire-making. This open-air museum features an arboretum and plant maze as well as an exhibition building that takes visitors on a journey through the area's history. Re-enactments of past times are presented in an engaging manner, encouraging both children and adults to participate in activities like flint-knapping, coin-making, and fire-starting.
Had a great day at Samara with friends and family. Kid friendly and my friend won tickets on radio raffle! Fun. Bring your picnic!!

Nice open air museum of prehistory and antique history. Nice housing reproductions. Artisans show and explain how certain works and crafts were made. When we visited it children were teached to make some small pottery items. The staff was nice and helpful. There was also a plant maze and a walking area.

Nice family place especially cultural for children (from 3 years old); offers a small pottery workshop for children, presentations for the museum and different expositions plus possibility to have a picnic and nice walk in the park.
Joe Meghames — Google review
Real nice open air museum. You start via an arboretum and a plant maze that is a bit too easy.
Then there is an exhibition building that looks like the home of Barbapappa, containing a walk through the historic eras of the area. Charmingly dusty here and there but well done.
The open air museum with re-enactments is real fun: they really invite the children (and grown-ups) to participate in making flint, fire and coins.
At the restaurant or shop, try the Cervoise (locally brewn), it is really refreshing!
From Picquigny, there is an entrance to the park via the cycle path along the Somme.

Would recommend to visit at the weekend. Voluntarys were explaining and showing stuff (thank you for that). Otherwise a nice big park were the kids can run around and you can spend a nice day if the weather is good. Not sooo much to see of course as in museum that cover the roman times and have ruins for example, so just be aware of that.

Almost only French speaking personnel. You cannot see half of the park until 14 00, despite the first part opening at 10 00. Good idea, but needs some development.

This is a lovely attraction and highly recommended for families looking for fun days out in the Amiens area. Although everything is reconstructed it is highly informative and offers spacious nature walks through lovely gardens and areas of reconstructed prehistory including habitation, tools and demonstrations of pottery making and the like. It's much better with a guide as they are very knowledgable but I didn't see any English speaking guides on offer. I found the written panels a bit limited walking around and it's not set up in any sequential order. We saw a demo of fire making from flint which was fantastic and a guide gave us a lengthy but fascinating talk around the pavilion in which we learnt loads about human evolution and cultural prehistory. Overall very much enjoyed by our family - kids and grownups alike

Park Marquenterre is a nature reserve located in Saint Valery sur Somme, offering a diverse landscape of dunes, marshland, and forest. The park provides hides for birdwatching and nature trails for exploration. Visitors can also enjoy local cuisine at La Tablee du Marquenterre restaurant before embarking on a trip to the park to admire thousands of migratory birds.
Very beautiful and clean park. Enjoyable to look for the birds and walk in the park

Yes, it is a beautiful place and you can watch birds BUT unfortunately on that day it was not that good. There were some swans, ducks and the usual animals. I really expected more and after spending two hours (and 450 photos) we decided to go. Beautiful place and maybe it was just bad luck, but I really expected more 😕

Park was alright. We were thirsty as hell on our way back, but the bartender was too busy cleaning up to offer us a drink or a sandwich. We waited a good 10mn in front of the bar before we decided to leave as the lady there was rude and unwilling to serve us some refreshments! We ll bring our own refreshments if we ever go back.

It's already not easy to understand anything: the line goes from Cayeux to Crotoy but after 08/26 only from St Valery to Crotoy. For the same price, 15€ per person return. You then have to choose whether you take a round trip or a round trip without necessarily knowing the options other than the train (crossing the bay on foot for example and returning by train). Choosing steam or diesel but without really having a choice because it depends on the schedule. In short, at reception they don't explain anything to us other than insisting on having our time of return because we have to choose in advance. We were lucky the train was not full but clearly with a crowded train in times of covid and given that everyone is screaming, wandering and taking off their masks despite the drivers' reminders, I do not recommend. Especially since 1 out of 2 carriages remains closed because they are the "1st class carriages" (no idea how we reserve them) and if they open them the carriages are damaged by the passengers...
The landscapes are nothing extraordinary, you don't see the bay but some beautiful lights all the same. On the other hand, you drive about 25 to 30 minutes over a 1 hour journey because the train stops at Noyelles station then the locomotive detaches and re-connects at the other end of the train to leave on another track and that takes time. We made Saint Valery towards Crotoy at 2:30 p.m. arriving around 1:30 p.m. time to park and use the toilets. Arrival at Crotoy at 3:30 p.m. Return to the station around 5 p.m. for a departure at 5:30 p.m. It's short but it allows you to see the bay and walk around a bit.
(Original)

Very interesting tour of a 500 year old family castle. Not a medieval castle with a bailey and walls, though it has a moat (dry). Former stable and carriage house are still in use, newer than house. Tour is in French, but there's an English pamphlet. Was easy to find, had parking, wasn't crowded. Grounds were pleasant. They didn't sell food or drinks, though I think you could picnic there. When we were there, they had some old-fashioned children's games set up outside for the kids to play.

For me, Treport's funicular is a way of transport that you must to test at less one time in your life. Day and night funicular give you an incredible panorama of Treport's beach and town. You can take funicular for free and cross cliff easily. It’s good way to avoid the big hill to join cliff’s high if you want walk on the cliff. If you come in car, it’s preferable to park you in high of cliff and after go down. If you have time go behind high funicular because you have sort of point of view with binoculars.

One of the oldest villages in the Country of Co (Pays de Caux) and the most beautiful villages in Normandy. Veul-les-Roses will enchant you with its landscapes: the charm of its seashores, rich architectural heritage and greenery along the shortest river in France - the Veul. The length of this river is only 1100 m. Walking along its banks, you will discover the history of the village (mills, resort villas, flower houses, churches) and come out to the sea with a sandy beach.
You will find buildings of various styles here - from rustic wooden houses and fishermen's houses to chic villas of the early 20th century, as well as small and large gardens with an abundance of flowers, especially roses.
Hanna Shaposhnyk — Google review
It is a small valley nestled in the Pays de Caux, between the alabaster cliffs. Between the banks of the Veules and the seafront, a village stretches out where Belle Époque villas rub shoulders with old half-timbered Norman houses. At first, painters and intellectuals from all over Europe stopped to visit Veules-les-Roses and eventually succumbed to its charms.
You simply have to visit Veules-les-Roses! Stroll, stroll, stroll in this village which alone concentrates all the charm of Normandy. It is one of the most beautiful in France and one of the oldest in the region.
It was built in a valley, a depression in the cliffs which gives access to the sea. Everything is there, from half-timbered houses to old mills, including Belle Époque villas and bath cabins.
The smallest river in France which is 1149 meters long. This is one of the peculiarities of the village and you should not miss to walk along it obviously. You can start the walk on the waterfront to go up the path to the source of the river. You will come across old stone bridges, half-timbered thatched cottages and old hotels.

Parc du Bocasse
Amusement park
Water & Amusement Parks
Family-friendly amusement park with thrilling rides, fairytale-themed attractions & food outlets.
Very nice and affordable attraction parc, especially with kids who are over 90cm - 105 cm in length. Those are the two thresholds defining the number of attractions the kids can go into. There are a lot of fun attractions for those small kids. Beautifully made, in themes like the farm or bees and insects. But the teenagers amd adults are also tended to. Also for those longer than 130cm there are enough rollercoaster rides to spend the day. Read the boards very carefully, sometimes it's written in small print that kids who are smaller than the threshold can still ride the attraction if accompanied by an adult. The attractions for the big kids are grouped together, a.o. in a jurassic parc theme.
All the attractions are very close together so it's not a problem to move back and forth or even return to the car to get something. There are a lot of roofed picknick places - ideal for rainy days. Also on the parking lot, so you could leave the picknick in the car and re-enter the parc after lunch. Also bring your (kids') swimsuits, especially on hot days. There is a waterfountain playground, which is a lot of fun and refreshing.
FastFood and icecream can be bought in several places, but was not of the best quality. Also the hotdogs were more like a baguette with a long hotdog sausage in it with molten cheese. (It was twice as large as I'd expected).
All in all it was a very fun and relaxing day we spent at le bocasse. The kids had a great time, and we enjoyed a few rollercoasters. The grandparents didn't want to go into a lot of attreactions, but there were several shows (like 4d cinema and water ballet) which we could enjoy all together.
If you are in the area and looking for something to do with the kids, most certainly worth a detour. Buy your tickets online if you're with 5 persons - you'll get one ticket for free (family pass).

Excellent park in the zone. A lot of attractions for all ages. The only problem I found is the lack of enough personnel in the restaurants. I had to wait for almost one hour to get two servings of sausages and fries.
There is, however, a picnic area right outside in the parking lot

Great park, a few bigger rides but nothing really thrilling. It's good for kids, everything is maintained well, rides are smooth and everything feels a lot cleaner and nicer. The tickets are reasonably priced. The Q's were probably about half an hour maximum which makes a change to theme parks in the UK. The park isn't huge but there's still enough there to stay all day. I enjoyed going here.

We're a family of four with a five year old and a six year old. The Parc du Bocasse was perfect. Lots of rides that five year old and six year old children could enjoy and very little time spent in queues. The park looked very well maintained and didn't push merchandise and junk food the way many other parks do. Well worth a visit!

This amusement park is a real bargain for the price paid. There is a wide variety of somewhat old-fashioned attractions (suitable for children) and state-of-the-art roller coasters that will put every person's nerves to the test (check out Orochi but stay away from the front seats if you're squeamish !). Many attractions are themed (Jurassic Park) and this effort makes for an immersive experience. People can bring their own lunch and use small huts with tables to eat instead of having to buy what's on offer. Due to its popularity, the park can suffer from long waiting times, especially around spectacular attractions (Splash-o-Saur/water slide). Overall, people seem to enjoy good-natured fun. Parking is free.

Our kids (12 and 14) enjoyed the park very much. We stayed for more than six hours, and easily could have spend another two hours... 🙂

Even at the height of summer we didn't queue more than 10-15 minutes for anything. Most of the time there were no queues at all.
This is a small theme park but has some good rides. It may not excite the well seasoned thrill seeker but it would probably keep children from 18months - 16 years happy enough.
There is a roller coaster, water ride and a funny indoor 'Bee-world' ride in the style of a 'It's a small world'.
If you go early it is quieter as the locals don't tend to get there until midday.
It was relatively good value and had a wide variety of attractions.
Well worth a visit.

Great day out for our 7 and 10 year old. Very good value for money. Plenty of rides and short ques (no more than 15 minutes). Younger children would enjoy other areas but those over 13 might not find it that exciting. Clean, friendly and park looks very new. Food choice very limited and coffee out of a machine but you can bring your own food and drink. Would recommend if nearby

Parc du Bocasse is a cosy and pleasant amusement park north of Rouen. Orochi is undeniably a great addition to the roster. Fort d'Odin is equally entertaining. Friendly staff and well-kept park. I highly recommend this one.
Château Gaillard is a ruined castle situated on a hilltop with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding verdant countryside and the Seine River. It was constructed in an astonishingly short period between 1196 and 1198 under Richard the Lionheart's leadership to protect England's western border. Despite its historical significance, it was demolished in 1603 at Henry IV's command, after having already fallen once in 1204.
Highly recommended. There are some informational boards that tell the history. Nice panoramic view over the castle, the Seine and Petit-Andely from the Parking Chateau Gaillard. But also nice view from the castle grounds themselves. The castle is freely accessible with the exception of the Keep.

Great view from the top, there is no much to see from the Château but it holds part of an important history of France and England. The view from the top is great and the little town below is beautiful, and get ready for a good walk.

Ruins of an old castle in a stunning location on a hill top overlooking the Seine & small town of Les Andelys.
Very interesting history involving Richard the Lionheart & Philip II.
Great place to watch the sunset over the Seine as well!

I couldn't get in, but I believe the true reward lies outside... Get there from an elevated ground while growing with anticipation, park you car in the slope, walk the many paths to it, climb the last meters and be delighted with the view over the river with a romantic village at is side... Trully amazing. Some ruins they are. Best fotos I took from all weekend

Breathtaking view over the meandering Seine river. Ruins are impressive too. You have to pay to get inside the keep but this doesn't really add to the experience.

Beautiful landscape . Must visit for the history and views. The village nearby is very cozy , wear comfortable shoes for the trek.

I love history and the fort played a pivotal roll the the history of France and England.
Have a paid tour guide brings this site to life. I would recommend a paid tour and guide for this site. It’s way up on the hill so Ride up and walk down. There’s a basic public restroom near the parking lot

Great views of the seine River and valley but the castle is a ruin so you need to be careful when walking around.

Built by King Richard the Lionheart in the late 1100’s. It had a moat which was really just a ditch since they could not get any water up there to fill it. It is a nice walk up to the site from Les Andyles village. Walked up a narrow roadway and there were a few cars with residents heading off somewhere. So be careful.

Spectacular castle and views over the Seine. It's 3 euro to enter the Castle but I'm not sure it enhances the experience. Also free parking is a short walk away including spaces for motorhomes. Highly recommended

It's a nice walk to the ruin. There is not much left of the castle. I hoped there was something to see inside but the cellar isn't open for entrance. Lots of tourist of the cruise boats at that moment. Entrance is €3,50 for adults.

Wonderful views on the surrounding area. On the way from the parking to the castle ruins you get wonderful views on the ruins. Also entering is worth the € 3,5 Euro. You het a real feel of how it must have been on the time of Richard Lionheart

I really enjoyed this experience. The ruins were accessible and certainly viewer friendly. The views from the castle were spectacular.

Great place to visit. Stunning views from top car park.
Didn't go in to main keep as was closed on Mondays but still worth a visit

I really enjoy the walk, the view, and the place in general.
Unfortunatelly I went on a close day and couldn't get in, but from outside is worderful. Also the view of the city downthere, amazing

This château has the high ground, and you feeling walking up to the top of the hill. There is a fee to enter the tower, but the views from outside (no fee to walk up and around the top) are expansive. The foundation of the old chapel walls are accessible and the lookout point has several detailed information panels to give you the full story of the château.
The Chemin des Douaniers, also known as the Customs Officers Path, is a historic trail in Etretat and Normandy. This undulating footpath was once used by customs officers on horseback and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Alabaster Coast. The path stretches across the Aiguille rock formation, providing dizzying vistas of bright white cliffs and the sweeping sea.
